Samuel of Las Vegas, NV June 20, 2009

On April 20,09 I took my car in, for the second time, to get a brake noise corrected. I got nothing but double talk; so I contacted Sears headquarters with my grievances and they answered that I would be contacted by management. As of this date, I have not received any calls or communication from their headquarters or anyone that will give me a reasonable appraisal of what took place and what they are willing to do about it !?

i had my brakes @rotors done by sears after a few months they started to squeak took it back to sears, they said they put on a bad batch of pads so they replaced the front and back, well acouple of weeks later same problem, they had me take my car to chevy dealership to find problem, chevy said after market brake pads were no good, so i paid sears extra money to install original pads. well after a few more months same problem? took car back to chevy, they said sears never installed new original pads, went to sears. the people i dealt with dont work there anymore. new manager doesnt care about problem. after market pads ruined my rotors

I basically took my truck in to get aligned after i had replaced the two lower ball joints and tie rods. Kat advised me it would be a hour. After running errands I came back and watched my truck get worked on. I heard a lot of banging and saw the mechanic muscling my truck. Long story short after two hours the inside rep came outside where i was sitting and told me he had bad news. He told me that they broke the sleeve to my tie rod trying to adjust it. They said that it was not budging so they forced it with some oil and torque. Well, my tie rod snapped.

Further more, they tried to charge me double the amount for parts and wanted to charge me for labor to fix the tie rods. The manager said he was not sure if it was his guy who broke it or if the car was old, but he can't replace it for free. By this time I was stuck in Lihue which is twenty miles from home without a ride. He was not willing to budge at all. So I told him I would pay for the parts but not the labor. I told him that is only fair. I also said I would buy the parts from the store and bring it to him because he wanted to charge me way too much for the parts.

Turns out one of the representatives told me that they have to charge extra for parts to make some money. This made me so furious that I am writing this letter. I have no truck to drive to work. They didn't even offer me a ride home, and my truck is worse off then it was when i brought it in.

I paid for a brake inspection at Sears. They gave me detailed information about thicknesses and conditions of rotors and drums etc. I called around to compare prices. When I went to another shop, they said that it is likely that Sears never even looked at my rear drum brakes. Instead of shoes and drums, it needed new pistons. The cost to me was the same, so the second shop had no motivation to change what was needed. In fact, they told me that my shoes were 75 percent good. I don't know how Sears can do this kind of thing with a clear conscience.

None. I don't trust Sears any longer.

Yes I had 4 brand new tires put on my 2006 Ford Explorer SUV, They were to check to see if it needed an Front end Aligment which they state they did one, Pulled our truck in did the alignment then put the brand new tires on. Any vechile can get a front end alignment sure, but when you are putting 750 worth of new tires on the proceedure is to put the tires on then do the alignment it's common sense. reason being that way the vechile and new tires are aligned all together and it is not aliged with old worn out tires.

But this store continued to say other wise, and if you call all of your other stores they say the same thing as Fords. These people were rude and didn't even want to redo with new tires, but against better choices said they would but said it rudley!

I brought my wife's car in to have 1 strut replaced. They tried to get me to have both replaced even though only 1 needed to be done. They gave me the wrong estimate on the phone, then when I asked for a written estimate the lady was very snotty & beligarent! I was so angry! NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO BACK THERE!

When a customer asks for an estimate a auto repair shop should just give it to them and not cop a attitude about it! One of the WORST auto shops I've taken my car too!

I took my car in for back brakes and rotors. They told me it was going to be about 280 dollars. Two hours later i returned and they said i needed back brakes and rotors front rotors the left front ball joint and the right rear caliper. They wanted 863 dollars for these repairs. I said no that i was going to take it somewhere else. The customer service guy said okay and charged me 15 dollars for the inspection. About half and hour later he came back and said that they couldn't put my car back together and that i would either have to have it fixed or call a tow truck on my expense.

After 2 hours and a phone call to the police they agreed to have my car towed to my brother in laws tow shop on there expense. The police officer told me they were not braking any laws.. Sears pretty much held my car hostage. Today i was looking through my paperwork and found old bills from Sears for tires. They had just done my tires 6 weeks ago.. Shouldn't they have noticed my calipers, rotors and ball joints then? Is it legal for them to tell me i can't have my car unless i pay 863 dollars to have it fixed or call a tow truck to have it taken to another automotive shop?

I thought I needed front Brake Pads and took my car in to Sears despite all the negative reports on their service. I was pleasantly surprised that after they inspected my car, advised me that I still have some wear left on my pads and that I did not need to replace it now. I left feeling gratefull for the honesty and good service. I think it has a lot to do with individuals working for the company rather than the company itself.

I will probably go back to Sears in Natic Collection when the time does come for my Brake service.

I went to Sears to have my front and rear brakes replaced. The brakes they put on my car continued to squeak and they replaced them several times with different brakes. After many attempts to resolve the problem, I took the brakes to the Nissan dealer and they stated that the car needed Nissan brakes. So in April 2008 Sears stated that they ordered Nissan brakes and put them on my car.

Today, the brakes have crystalized and had to be replaced, but Sears did not replace my brakes with Nissan brake pads as they stated earlier. The point is that they lied to a customer and guaranteed Nissan brakes, but replaced it with some other kind of brakes.

Paying for another brake job and having the rotors turned. The brake job that Sears did almost ruined my rotors.

Deanna of Philadelphia, PA September 29, 2008

I called Sears and made an appointment to have my brakes serviced. I had my 18 year old daughter wait for the car. A sears rep told my daughter that I needed an air filter, fuel system service, and coolant exchange costing 171. She agreed. After that work was done they gave her an estimate for the brakes. The estimate was for 1,145.00. When asked why didn't they give her the brake estimate. I was advised that the brake tech was busy so they checked our car for other possible problems.

My problem is that I asked for a brake evaluation. My paper work says I asked for a brake evaluation at 4:33. The suggested service was offered at 4:48 and the brake evaluation was done at 6:25 after the suggested service was done. Why wasn't the brake evaluation done first. I was victimized by Sears.
