Another oil change ripoff operation. I took my 2005 Chevrolet in for an oil change and tire rotation. I walked next door but shortly received a call on my cell phone from NTB saying I need a new serpentine belt. The cost of the belt was quoted at $59 and labor was approximately $60. Thinking they were referring to the 92" main serpentine belt, I agreed. When I went to pick the vehicle up, I asked to see the belt and they showed me a small drive belt that retails for about $9. I believe that referring to the small drive belt as "the serpentine belt" was deliberately misleading. Because I had verbally agreed to the price, I didn't make an issue out of it but NTB has lost my trust and I doubt I'll ever use them for service again.
Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I needed an outer tie rod replaced along with a front end alignment on my 1999 Ford Escort. I received an estimate of $197.11. That included a $20.00 service promotion. I thought that price was a rip-off, so I called around 3 different places to receive an estimate and they were all around $110.00. That is a considerable amount of difference. How in the ** can NTB get away with charging their good customers much more than everyone else?

You know what, I have nothing against the person I dealt with there but I have a 760 fica score and they turned me down for their 0 interest 12 month credit. Now I think it's just a lure to get you hooked I don't believe anything about the way they do business.

I took my car in to replace 2 tires, have the alignment done which was under warranty, check front brakes and an oil change. About an hour later, I was told it would be $800 for the service as the pads and rotors needed replacing and my power steering fluid was bad. While working on the brakes, the mechanic snapped the caliper bolt off so they had to order a new one at my expense of $46.99. I assumed they would cover the cost since they caused the damage. This was when they told my my struts were leaking and needed replacing. I asked for a quote for replacing just the fronts and one for replacing all four. The cost increased my original quote to $1700 for all four. They said I could get a discount if I applied for their credit card. So I reluctantly agreed.
When I picked up the keys and the receipts, the total was $2166, $400 over the estimate. Their explanation was that my mounts were bad so they had to replace those and they just replaced the shock absorbers while they were at it, at a cost of $245 + $45 labor per strut, instead of the $139 they quoted me. I was upset because I'd never have agreed to this expense, but was now stuck because they did it without consulting me. I noticed on the way home that the ABS light was on and it wasn't when I had brought the car to them. They said bring it back to them and they would look at it. I was eager to confront them about the unauthorized work and at least get the ABS issue addressed at the same time, so I took it back the next day at noon.
They brought it in and then they came back and said the mechanic said the ABS light was on when he got the vehicle the day prior, which was a lie. They then said they don't know why the light is on and I'd have to take it to a dealer at my expense since only the dealer has the proper equipment to determine why the light was on and their mechanic said I gave them the car that way. I don't want to nitpick but I had custom valve stem caps on the original tires, yet the new tires, one had a standard plastic and the second tire didn't even have a stem valve cap. They had said they'd replace the ones I had, but even after looking over the car a second time, I had to go in and complain that I still didn't have the custom valve stem caps I had on the tires they removed.

I called around for prices on brakes and every NTB was different with high prices to low prices. I dealt with Carmen at Bethel Park. He was extremely rude and not knowledgeable at all. He said I needed all these services, that my own manual didn't call for. Plus, it failed me for inspection that didn't fail before. Do not go there. Ripoff. I took it to the dealer and nothing failed as well. 10 lug nuts were left loose probably intentionally. I know this happens a lot at NTB. They are too busy smoking instead of working on cars.

I bought 4 new tires from NTB. I bought the life time warranty. I was told at that time , that if any thing happens to the tires, they would be replaced. Well, I got a wood scew in my tire. I pulled it out and my tire went flat.
I put on the donut. I went straight to NTB. At that time the young man told me it was not covered because it went in at the wrong place and it could not be fixed. I did not have road hazard. To my understanding as explained at the time of purchase , the life time would cover all. To find out now it does not. Some one was not trained correctly. The customer was miss lead.(me) The tire had a lot of tread. It was hardly worn. I asked the manger if he could give any discount. He said only a vip(9.00) The tire cost me $174. 41 including adding road hazard, the that tire only.
That is just wrong. Everyday things fall off someones work struck and it is not our fault, but we as customers pay. I wish there was so kind of reimbursement given. I mean something decent. I will wait to hear form you. I will contact BBB and I will let all my friends know not to go to NTB. The men working there really are not trained enough. I had a school for thirty years. Everything needs to be addressed and ever so often refreshed. I do hope you will take this into consideration? What will happen to my tire that was like new?Thank you in advance

This company is so corrupted its no even funny. This so called company takes people money and screw them over as much as they can. first of all the tire they get is from tire rack. They sell the tire rack tires 20 percent over cost. Not to mention how they treat the employees from store manager to the DISTRICT Manager (S.S) They pay employees 7.00 an hour + COM. And now they cut back the com for the employee.

My wife, Brenda, took our 2003 van to NTB because the brake pedal was going to the floor (she had very little brakes). NTB had replaced the front brakes on the van & after 4 return trips to the shop, the problem was still not resolved. She took the van there because they were the last one to service the van. After looking the van over & not putting it on a lift, they informed her that all of the brake lines would have to be replaced, at a cost of $800. She had them top off the brake fluid & she left.
We took the van to the dealership where the van was purchased. They found a pinhole in a 3 in. section of brake line. It was replaced and the brakes are fine. NTB didn't want to do the job and quoted the high price so she would leave. The brakes on the van work, but they still scream from the brake job done by NTB.

On 06/24/09 at about 9:21 am, I took my mother's car to the National Tire & Battery store #572 in Baltimore Maryland. The car had knocking like sounds coming from the rear on the drivers side that I needed fixed. Two hours later, they called me with the news that they had found what was making the noise and that the estimated cost was $900 dollars, After negotiation, they agreed to fix the car for $845.74- money that my mother did not have and had to apply for the store credit card to make the payments.
Ten hours later, the store called to tell me that my mother's car was ready. My mother and I went to pick the car up but we were barely out of the store's parking lot before my mother upon driving the car stopped to inform me that the knocking sound was still there. We went to back to the store and they told us to take the car but bring it back the next day for repair. We did as we were told and left the car there for them to repair. Three hours later, we called the store only to be told that there is nothing they can do about the car and that they had fixed a noise that they thought was coming from the front of the car. That was good but there was no noise coming from the front as far as we knew! I reminded the gentlemen that I was speaking to that we had told them to fix the knocking-like sound from the rear and by the way, the repair order specified the same thing.
After several minutes of arguing with the gentleman, I asked to speak to the store manager who told me that there was nothing they could do and that if I wanted more repairs done on my "old" car, then I should pay for it. Of course the statement made me very angry since they had already charged $845.74 but yet had not fixed the problem that brought us there in the first place- I then asked the store manager to connect me to his supervisor but he told me that I could not speak with him and that he-the store manager would call his supervisor and then get back with me. After an hour or so, he - the store manager called me with the good news that his supervisor had authorized them to fix the car at no cost- please be aware that no one told us that they were fixing whatever else but the problem we told them the car had. We were asked to pick up the car since the ordered parts would not be in until the following Tuesday.
We picked up the car and brought it back to the store on Tuesday July 28th 2009 as we had agreed-but as of Tuesday 8:00pm, the car was not fixed. Why? Because after installing the parts, the car still had the knocking sound. On Wednesday June 1st 2009, I was asked to drive up to the store to witness the repairs that they were making on the car. I did go, but I also pointed out to them that my coming there was futile since I was not a mechanic by profession and therefore would not tell whether they had been working on the car or not. I suspect they were not working on the car now or even the first time we took it to them. By 8:00 pm, the car was not fixed, by noon the next day, it still was not fixed.
To make a long agonizing story short, it is now Wednesday July 8th- a week later that store #572 has kept the car and have yet to fix it! My mother being a very peaceful lady has pleaded and tried to negotiate with them- but nothing is working! We are still getting the same lies-" We have ordered the parts they will be here in the afternoon" or "The guy that is supposed to be fixing the car is not here today." My mother has decided to cut her loss; $845.74 after all is said and done and take her still unrepaired car!
But I know where to go to seek help for my mother and here I am writing to you about our complaint. My mother who is a caregiver for the elderly and needs the car to transport her clients has not been able to work for the last nine days. She has no benefits at her job which means she does not get paid for any time missed at work.

I own a 1969 roadrunner, which i took to NTB for a front end alignment. The alignment is so bad the car can't be driven. Took back to NTB and was told there was nothing they could do about it,because my job order wasn't in there computer. So i just give NTB 85 dollars because they do such wonderful work.
Next, i took my wife car in for a slow leak. Found a backing atable in it. Took the car home and the next day had a flat tire, took it back to be fixed and told i would have to buy a new tire. The people in the back put a plug in the tire instead of a patch and the plug was leaking so bad it wouldn't stay up over night.Skippy who was in high school last week who was now the manger, said i got a new leak in the same place as the plug (what would be the chance?) Said OK give new a new tire with some type of a discount. Told they couldn't do that. I asked to see the manager and was told he was the manger. The tire had 1/2 mile om it before i took it back.
Let just say i will never go back and i will be more happy to tell others the store. bye NTB hello discount tire.

April 1, 2009 I went to NTB Lockport for a tire rotation and wheel alignment, I left and they said everything else looked fine. April 2, 2008 I went to NTB Orland Park because I felt my car drifting a little to the right. Roberto looked at my car and said I needed 2 new tires that is why my car was drifting, so said o.k. to replace them. When my car was up on the lift, Roberto and Martin (mechanic) called me into the shop, and said my driver's side axle was leaking and it needed to be replaced, or it could break at any time. (Roberto and Martin both made the comment that my car was in mint condition, and well worth putting the money into fixing.) So I said OK to have the axle replaced.
When I was driving out of the parking lot of NTB I immediately knew something was wrong, I felt like I was trying to accelerate, but I was moving very slow, and I could hear a strange noise from my engine. So I immediately pulled into the parking lot next to NTB, and told Roberto my car broke down. Roberto and 2 other mechanics pushed my car into the NTB shop again. Roberto said it was a defective axle and it would take another 2-3 hours to fix. Roberto gave me his car keys and said I could go get lunch and he'd call me when my car was ready. So I took Roberto's car and when home for lunch. Roberto
called and I returned to NTB to pick up my car, I asked Roberto what happened, and if there are any future problems, will NTB take care of them. Roberto said it was a defective axle and he reimbursed me my labor charges, and said don't worry, if there are any problems I'll be taken care of by NTB. Then on April 7, the same thing happened with my engine, so I drove straight to NTB and spoke with Eddie (Tire Mgr) and Martin (same mechanic that put in my axle) said they didn't know what was wrong, and suggested me to go to Acura for a Diagnostic test. (Eddie said Roberto was not there, it was his day off).
The next morning April 8, 2009 I went straight to Acura (7:30 A.M.) and they me a diagnosis that it was an internal failure of the trans and suggest to replace the trans. I have the customer copy of the diagnostic. I had the car towed for a 2nd opinion to Turbo-Matic Transmissions the same day April 8, 2009.
On April 10, 2008 Tom from Turbo-Matic said my transmission needs to be replaced and it would be about $3000.00. I called Roberto and told him what Acura and Turbo-Matic said, Roberto said NTB does not fix transmissions, and I would be taken care of. So I told Tom at Turbo-Matic to fix my transmission.
On April 15, 2009 I picked up my car from Turbo-Matic and went straight to Roberto at Orland Park NTB with my receipt. I asked Roberto what is NTB going to do about this situation. Roberto said he needed to see the transmission they took out, that anyone can bring in a receipt. So Tom from Turbo-Matic called Mr. Cooper at Napelton Honda located in Oak Lawn,
IL. Mr. Cooper said he would hold the transmission core if Roberto/NTB Insurance wanted to investigate. Then Roberto took Mr. Cooper's phone number and copied my receipt, and Roberto said he needs to submit this to NTB's Insurance. Roberto said he was not authorized to reimbursement that amount of money. Mr. Cooper held the core for 7 - 10 days, and Roberto/NTB never contacted him.
A few days later I called Roberto for the status, and he said that someone from the insurance company was suppose to contact me, and Roberto would follow up and let me know. After a few more days Roberto/NTB Insurance never called me back, so I reported this to the BBB. I will be faxing the diagnosis and receipt to the customer service fax number which was provided from Tire Kingdom.
I drove into the Orland Park NTB with with a car working in fine condition, only a slight pull. I drove out breaking down right in front of NTB leaving the parking lot, and again a few days later with the exact same problem. They have caused my transmission to fail and also caused unnecessary stress for not standing behind their word.

On March 20, 2009 I brought my 2000 Dodge Dakota to NTB in Lower Burrell,Pa. for an oil change and tire rotation. At that time I refused the alignment service that was offered because I wasn't having any alignment problems. After putting the truck on the rack I was told my right front wheel bearings were shot and the wheel was about to fall off. The price was $495 including the price of an alignment that they now told me was a must. I o.k.ed them to do the repairs. Minutes later I was called in again. This time my front left brake was the problem.
They said the caliper was locked up and it burnt up my left brake pad and rotor. $472 more. I said no to those repairs and they explained to me that they had to use an over-sized pin in the replacement of the wheel bearing and it still didn't hold so they lock-tight ed it and it will be fine. Then they called me again saying I needed a new tie rod and that unless I left the truck overnight they wouldn't be able to fix it. I said no to any further work and they said if I didn't have the tie rod repaired they wouldn't be able to align it.
I said that's fine. That saves me the $80 alignment. The total was $405 I paid cashThe very next day I brought the truck to MY mechanic to address the brake problem. He showed me the problem. He was able to free up the locked caliper and replace my brakes for $90 not $472. It never needed a new rotor. Then he noticed the over-sized lock-tight ed pin did not hold and the wheel, that I thought was repaired, would have possibly fallen off. After going back to NTB. I first had to prove they charged me $30 for the over-sized pin that they said over the phone that they didn't charge me.
I generously agreed to a reimbursement of $95 Although I paid them in cash they asked for a charge or debit card to credit my account for the $95 because they didn't have enough cash at the time so I did. Today is April 1, 2009 And I still haven't received my money back. I'm so thankful I brought the truck to someone else or I wouldn't have ever known the repairs were faulty. Anyone out there have any suggestions. I could use some help here!

I had a set of tires installed which was done quickly, efficiently, and with good workmanship. A technician inspected the suspension and steering prior to mounting the tires, and found the outer tie rod ends had excessive play in them and that they needed to be changed prior to alignment. As an experienced auto mechanic myself, I readily agreed. The salesman asked if I wanted to see the cost.
As I had been a vehicle dealership parts manager and am therefore familiar with the typical markup schedules, as well as jobber discounts of course, I declined, expecting their cost not to exceed about $70 total and with a typical markup of %100, the total parts cost should not have exceeded $150 at the very max. I was shocked when presented with a parts bill for $300. At their likely jobber cost of about $70, that represents somewhat in excess of a whopping 300% markup!! The actual install time was about 1/2 hour, which I could have easily done in my driveway in the same amount of time, but I was charged a full hour at what proved to also be an excessive rate of $88.00. I will NEVER use an NTB store again!!Excess parts markup costing me about $150 over what a typical 100% parts markup would be, plus about $25+ excessive installation labor.

I had brought my 2001 Grand Caravan for inspection in April of 2008 I needed front brakes to pass inspection. I took it to NTB the next day and they replaced the front for 400.00 and check and adjusted the back brakes and said they were good. After leaving there I heard a clunking noise so I took it back. The store manager at that time said that it was my front brakes and that it would stop. The noise never stopped so I brought my car back in August and told them that the noise was still there.
They checked my brakes and said that the brakes were falling off into pieces and that I could not take my car home. This cost 400.00 also and they denied adjusting the back brakes when I came in in April. So it has been 8 months and I went back because I heard grinding yesterday in the front. Of course, I need my caliper replaced. This is NOT covered under warranty under the brakes because this is a part they did not fix last time. This will cost you 323.00 they said. WHATEVER!!! My S.O. can do it for cost of the caliper $40.00.

Charged me $30 dollars , and said that is store service charge . He explained that is the charge for the uniforms and store maintenance. It is never heard of STORE FEE, can some one please explain this. I am going to let this information and the copy of the receipt to attorney generals office. This is a unreasonable charge , I own a business too. This fee need to be refunded. I like to talk to a person.

Purchased 4 tires, and alignment service for one year, last time car was taken in for alignment check was told all is good, but when taken the car in to see if alignment was proper then why front tires are worn on the outside edges, they said they have no records, then after the contract was provided they claimed the alignment service is now expired, when questioned their previous service, again the claimed no records, we looked for and provided our records then they claimed the alignment may go out at any time by for example hitting a curb, then we questioned quality, and the warranty on the tires when we were told there is nothing they can do other than selling a new set of tires and new alignment contract.
tires are worn unevenly, and they will not honor the alignment service purchased for 1 year, nor warranty the tires sold at the same time. I will file a formal complaint with all on line web sites for willful, and intentional failure to honor the contract, as well as filing a complaints with Texas Attorney general, and BBB.Need to buy two new tires and do a new alignment costing over $460.00. Never buy any reject tires because they are cheaper about $5.00 than the dealer.

I went to purchase four (4) brand new tires for a 2001 Pont Grand Am Gt. I didn't have the car with me and was only pricing when I entered the store. The sales person asked how could he help me? I told him I was looking for replacement tires for the above mentioned car. He looked up the car in the computer and asked was I wanting size 15' or 16 I didn't know and said I thought they might be 15. He found several tires in that size and told me the price would be #99.00 for a 225/60/R15. I said ok, but, I was going to check discount tires first. He offered to look their price up on the internet AFTER I said I was going to price Discount tires. He found the tire at Discount tire for $78.00. He said, I will match it. I said ok, and we set an appointment to have the tires put on in the next couple of day's.
I returned to the store the following day and announced myself ready to make the purchase and explained the car required a 16 size and not a 15. The salesman said no problem and I offered to go ahead and pay for them now. They refused payment until the job was complete, I thought this a little strange since I was only going to have four tires put on...no big deal... right?
They pulled the car into the garage and my info up on the computer and told me to have a seat. After a two and a half hour wait I was approached with a problem with one of my tires studs (place where the lug nuts screws the tire on) They said it was crossed screwed and would have to have the stud broken to get the tire off. I was surprised because I just had a brake job from another shop the previous day and wondered how my friend Joe the mechanic could miss this or done this and not say anything? Well, NTB charged me $50 dollars to correct the problem and pronounced my car ready.
When I looked at my tires, I noticed that I had a different tire then what I had agreed upon ( I had a 215/R60/16 and thought I was buying a 225/R60/16. The salesman told me that GM the manufacturer said you can use either tire (215 or 225) and so I drove off. I got to thinking about it and checked with another tire store who told me the only tire for that year and make of car recommended by the maker was a 225/R60/16 and not the 215/R60/16 (a cheaper tire) they put on the car. I then looked at my receipt and noticed that they didn't give me twenty dollars a tire to match Discount Tires price, they gave me a fifty dollar discount, but gave me a smaller less expensive tire. In addition,I think $20 x 4 =$80 the last time I checked and not $50. So they weren't very good at math and reading numbers in the tire room.
Then surprise surprise, I end up paying the fifty dollars back on a suspicious cross thread (no wonder I couldn't pay up front). I went back to the store and complained to the manager who responded by giving me a set of Yokohama tires AS 430's in the correct size of 225/R60/16. He acted like he was doing me a favor but, was actually giving me no real deal. Since twice they lied to me to my face and stole at least $80 from me ($30 on the discount scam and $50 on the cross thread scam). This store location lacks integrity and basic honesty. I wonder is that NTB's way of doing business.
This store needs to be investigated because I don't think I am the only one. Every person that came in there for the two and one half hours I was there was hit with extra cost. One guy I was sitting next to came in with a $99 brake job coupon and was hit with a quote for $800 plus mdollars for a brake job on a chevy Malibu. over $800 dollars? give me a brake...what the heck were they putting on the car golden bake shoes? The public needs to be aware of this company and NTB should be investigated for consumer fraud.

We called around to get a price on tires for a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria. It's a retired cruiser. We were quoted a price of 80.99 plus another 20 for mounting and stems. I agreed to bring the car over. Once we got there we were told, Oh, that's a cop car! You can't have those tires!? When we reminded them of the quote they went out and looked at the car and said the car wont handle right with what we want. We told them the car doesn't handle right now because of the worn tires, we weren't going to chase anyone in it and the Commonwealth has speed limits. We don't need tires rated for law enforcement.
We finally agreed upon tires for 137.99, almost twice as much. We also wanted a front end alignment. We were told the car would be ready in an hour and a half. Two hours later they called. We asked if the car was finished and they said they hadn't started it yet. They stated they had broken a wheel lug. They said it wasn't a big deal, that it happens all the time. They never offered to fix what they had broken. They said they couldn't do the alignment because one of the adjusters was bent.
They also wanted permission to do front brakes. My husband told them he would do the brakes and to call us when we could pick up the car. Another two hours passed. They called to say the car was ready. When we went in, I said, Let me see if I have this right. You broke a lug, which you do not intend to fix. You didn't do the alignment but you want us to pay for it. And you'd like to do a front brake job.? They said that they had to break the lug. We happen to know if you heat it up enough and don't use the air wrench there is no need to break anything. They told us that they were charging for the alignment so when we got the adjuster fixed they'd do it for free. Well, if I paid up front it isn't free, is it?
Finally they called around to get a new lug. They sent someone over to get the car after another long wait. He had no clue what he was doing. He finally replaced what they had broken and we went in to settle the bill. They took the alignment off the bill. They said again that they'd leave it there and do it for free when I came back. I told them I had no intention of ever going back. They took the alignment off the bill. $78.00. Then they charged me $2.70 for the lug, 2.70for the lug nut and 44.50 for labor to fix what they had broken. This is customer service. The gentleman who added up the bill had the screen pointed in my direction to see if I had noticed what he was doing. Yes, I did. The next day my husband took the brake pads off the front and brought them over to a mechanic who told us they had 6 months to a year use left on them.
This smacks of bait and switch and at the very least is horrifyingly bad customer service. They over charged me for tires that, if you go to their website and search on 2000 Crown Vic Police Special, you will see the original tires that they refused to sell us after we got to the store are rated for this car. They broke the lug. They should have fixed it without charge. They didn't lose any money by refunding the alignment because they charged me for damage that they themselves did.

I bought a battery at NTB in Round Rock, Texas on 06/19/2004. I paid $59.99 for the battery, plus $9.99 for installation, $4.80 for shop fees and tax of $6.17, for a grand total of $80.95. I was told this battery had a 72 month warranty on it and should easily last for a minimum of 3 years. It has gone bad 24 months later and I want a refund of my money.
Failure of the battery left me stranded with my niece and great niece in my car in 102 degree weather, 80 miles from home on July 15, 2006. I was able to get the car started by jumper cables. I was forced to purchase a battery at Sears in Lufkin, Texas (my hometown) because this happened on a Saturday and that's all that was available to me. I paid $89.99 for the battery, $12.99 for service and a $3.00 disposal fee, for a grand total of $113.40. Please contact me about sending me a full refund of $80.95 for the battery I purchased at NTB in Round Rock, Texas, plus compensation for the difference I had to pay in purchasing the new battery at Sears.

I made an appointment for my car to get a oil change and filter. When I went to NTB, the service manager printed out an invoice for me to sign for the charges for the oil change and filter. The total price was $23.00. I signed and waited for my car. The service manager came back to me saying that I needed some other work done - namely, I needed new brake pads on the front of my car. This was not surprising since my car has over 100,000 mile on it. He also said my car could use a flush of the brake lines and a power steering flush. The total cost had suddenly jumped to well over $400.
He said the brake pads were pretty much mandatory because the pads were almost completely gone and it was getting to be a safety issue. I said that $400 was too much to spend all at once but the brake pads are obviously important so I would like to get that done but not the flushing of the lines. He said he could have the parts in about an hour and wouldn’t take too long after that to change the pads. The price he had quoted was 69.99 for the pads and 70.00 for the labor. He said he would cut those prices down to 50.00 each to lessen the expense. I said that would be fine. My car is done. I’m at the counter and he tells me the cost is $366.71. I say I’m paying by check but I would like to see the invoice.
He starts answering the ringing telephone even though there are other employees available there to answer it. I keep asking to see the invoice of the work performed and in between speaking on the phone, he says, “It’ll print out once it’s done.” So he runs my check through and I finally get an invoice. Suddenly, it’s now $49.00 for the oil change and filter, the brake pads and labor were not reduced, and flushing of the systems were done at 50.99 a piece and my check has already been processed.
I questioned the sudden jump in the oil change and he starts talking about how the original invoice was a mistake because I had called to make an appointment the night before and it wasn’t just dropped off this morning. This makes absolutely no sense! He then said, “Well, is this going to be a problem?” At that point, I just wanted my car and to get out of this scam so I said, “Just forget it and give me my car.” I will never go to NTB and I warn against anyone else doing so.

I purchased one pair of tires two days ago. I was concerned about having the money to purchase the second two just then, but I received some money the next day (yesterday). I went back today in order to purchase two more of the same tires.
Upon cashing out, I noticed signs on the counter and the computer terminal stating that if NTB failed to install my tires in less than one hour, that I would receive $20 off my purchase. I reviewed the conditions of the offer, and based on the times printed on the invoice, as well as the fact that it had been 1 hour 12 minutes since the first time printed, that I was owed the $20 discount. The counterperson said that this offer was only good for purchases of four tires, not less, and that as a result, I was not eligible.
He then took a phone call. During that time, I looked closely at all the wording of the workorder and the placards, and the surrounding retail area, and the waiting room. I could not find any modifiers of any sort regarding the offer. I told the counterperson as much, and indicated that it appeared that NTB owed me a $20 discount. He said he would check with his manager, Roger.
He came back after a bit and indicated that the tires had been indeed installed by 1:43PM today, within the one hour time limit, and that it was a matter of being busy that the workorder had been left unattended, and myself unnotified until I came to the retail area to inquire about the job, which was about 71 minutes after the start time on the workorder. A note on the workorder; the workorder has printed on it the "Start Time", and the "Promised Time", not the apparent actual end time. The end time cannot be surmised or disputed by the customer unless same stands at the shop door and times the event, which is an unreasonable and possibly ill advised. Additionally, noone identified either the offer, or the times when I was authorizing the workorder. This seems like a case of fraudulent advertising, and default of financial commitment in the form of refusal to pay the $20 discount.

My husband and I live in Leander TX, which is just a few miles north of Austin. I drive back and forth to Waco, TX for school and work. On 6-5-01, I left work and headed to NTB in Waco to get a leaking tire fixed. I arrived at NTB at approximately 4:30pm and I talked to Casey, the assistant manager, and to make a very long story short, he figured out that I needed 4 new tires on my car. He asked me if I wanted Michelin tires, like the ones on my car and I told him yes. He then gave my a quote of $413.55 for four new Michelin tires. I called my husband and we agreed that it was a reasonable price and I agreed with Casey to put the four new Michelin tires on my car.
Two hours later, from when I had arrived, they advised me that my car was ready and I went to check out. That is when I realized the bill was over $700.00. The check out attendant and I had a discussion about what I had been quoted and Casey soon showed in the lobby. I asked Casey, again the Asst. Manager of the store, about what had happened and he told me that he gave me the wrong quote for the tires. He told me that he gave me a quote for tires on the car that had been serviced just before my car. He told me that he could take up more of my time and put the Yokohama tires that he quoted me on my car. I had already been there over two hours for a leaking tire and now, due to his mistake he wanted me to wait again so they could pull the Michelin tires that I wanted off my car and put more tires on.
I did not have time for all this and I did not want Yokohama tires on my car. I wanted Michelin tires and that is what I was quoted. I ended up paying over $700.00 due to Casey taking advantage of a female who just wanted to get home. I am a full time student at Baylor University and work part time and on top of that my time is very precious to me. I feel that I was quoted a price for a product and that is what I should receive. Not once did anyone or Casey tell me that he had mis-quoted me even after Casey new he gave me the wrong price.
The consequences are that I lost over two and a half hours of my time and the difference in the quote, which was nearly $300.00. Don't you think that if you are quoted one price and something other than what was quoted was done or added to that quote, that they should tell you. I was just waiting in the lobby of NTB for over 2 hours. It would not of been hard to tell me about the mistake when it was found out instead of trying to get me to just pay for it and leave thinking I would not notice. This of course made me very emotional. I began shaking and crying. The person who checked me out, Andrew, even asked me if I would be ok to drive home.

On May 1st 2001 I took my 78 Jeep to the NTB store in New Martinsville for a free alignment check. After about 50 minuites in the waiting room I was told it was finished and given a bill for almost $45 for an alighnment job. I asked the manager why I was charged for the sevice I had not requested, or even been asked about. He replied, "The toe-in was out of adjustment so I figured you wanted it corrected so I told them to go ahead and fix it." I, not expecting any bill, had not taken any money with me. His response was, "Then you can just bring the money in later."

On 8/3/00 a friend of mine came into work and asked if I would take her up to NTB. So I said sure. The evening before my fiance and I had been talking about how our 1996 Mazda Miata was due for new tires, I thought to myself what a great time to price out the new tires. We went in and my friend dropped off her car, in the meantime I was waiting for pricing. I got up to the counter where I asked the young gentleman (Chris) how much it would cost to put new tires on my 1996 Mazda Miata M-Edition, which needed 15" tires.
He quoted me a price of $325.71. He said he had them in stock. And asked if I would like for him to hold them for me for 24 hours. I said no, instead I would like to have them put on my car if possible. He said to drop my car off first thing Friday morning. When I got back to my office I called my fiance and he said go ahead and put new tires on it.
Later that day my friend and I went in to pick up her car and I again asked Chris if that price was correct. He said then "that is what it is out the door, taxes and everything."
On Friday morning I went and dropped my car off at 7:30 am. At noon when no one had called to tell me that my car was finished I got I got a little concerned. I called where I was put on hold for 45 minutes and told that I had been quoted the wrong amount and the new amount with a 10% customer discount was going to $496.00. At which point I asked to speak with the manager. I was put on hold again for 20 minutes and then someone came on the phone and said that the manager (Hershel) was on a conference call, could he call me back. I said yes and left my number.
An hour later Hershel called me back and said the price difference was because Chris had quoted me on 14" tires and I needed 15" tires. When I was in the previous day I had asked twice if the price was correct. After 3 hours of back and forth with Hershel the total came to $432.00.
I drove the car home that night and there was a severe shake in the car. I called on Monday and they said to bring the car back down and they would fix the problem. I dropped the car off at 8:30 am. No one even touched the car until 1:00 pm. At 4:30 I went to pick the car up.
When I arrived at NTB, Chris was behind the counter where he said to me "You got me in trouble -- What year is your car? Your car is a 1995 not a 1996" and then flipped his computer around and said "Read this, what does this say?" followed by bunch of mumbling and then stormed away. He still had not given my keys. A few minutes later another gentleman came and gave me my keys.
But that isn't the end of the story. The original price that I had been quoted was for four Yokohama tires. The tires that I ended up with are Dunlops. I told them I didn't need new valve stems. I got new valve stems. However with the new valve stems they failed to give me caps for my valve stems. When I returned on 8/9/00 with the same friend who had a flat on her one of her new tires. Chris again said something and stormed off.
