Midas Responds

Eileen Horvath, who owns a Midas shop in South Bend, IN, writes:

We have many customers who fail to have proper documentation when obtaining warranty services. This is a problem with the consumer, you must be responsible for your paper work! This causes many of the problems and compliants listed on your web page.

I believe that the consumer needs to be responsible and not assume that they are always being ripped off. Services like this web page do more harm than good. Midas International has a toll-free customer service number listed on all paperwork. I suggest that all customers take the time to read the actual warranty and ask questions prior to having any repair work done. If you don't understand the warranty, ask ... if you still don't understand call Midas Customer Services for clarification.

Warranty work applies to most everything -- tv's, vcr's, home appliances. Do you have proof of purchase? Where is your warranty paper work? Get responsible. Purchase a filing cabinat and save your paperwork! Consumers should also read the laws that pertain to warranty items.

Know your rights ... read the state and local laws that pertain to your rights.
