Inside Jiffy Lube

Yvonne of Miami FL (09/26/08)
On Sept 13, 2008 I took my car (Mazda 2008 cx7) for a standard oil changeat Jiffy Lube. Before they changed they oil they informed me that my car has to have SYNTHETIC OIL BECAUSE THE ENGINE IS A TURBO. I questioned them and asked them are you sure? They insisted that if I do not choose the synthetic oil they would not be responsible if anything happened to the car. So I gave them the OKAY.

When they finished they called me in to where the car was to tell me that my car had an oil leak between the engine and transmission and that I should have it checked out. I was surprised to hear that since the car is NEW. Today I took time off from work and took my car to the dealer AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR. He made the order and I waited an hr and ahalf, again out of work, I almost had to get a rental car.

When the mechanics at the dealer lifted the car first they advised me that my car can never have the SYNTHETIC OIL, it is not good and I have to change it to the regular oil! SECOND, THERE IS NO LEAK! THIRD, THEY FOUND OIL OVER FILL, WHICH IS BAD FOR MY CAR ALSO. IN ADDITION TO THIS THEY FOUND THE FLUID LEVELS LOW!

A standard oil change is 30.00, instead of the81.30 that Jiffy Lube charged me without a need, AND TO ADVISE ME OF FALSE INFORMATION. I MAKE 39.06 AN HR, I WAS OUT OF WORK FOR APPROX 1HR AND 1 HALF. (58.59)AND I ALSO HAVE TO TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER TO REMOVE THE SYNTHETIC OIL, 30.00.

JIFFY LUBE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS. THEY DID NOT PERFORM THE WORK AS EXPECTED. I EXPECT SOME TYPE OF EXPLANATION IF ANY, REIMBURSEMENT FOR ECONOMIC LOSS.

A month ago I paid ovr 40 (my 1st mistake) for a high performance oil change. stopped in Tues approx 5:30. 2 cars ahead of me. was told maybe 20 min. to have oil & ect. cked(due to car trip this Fri) 1st car left within 10 min. Then the only 2 working, both worked on 2nd. Was a truck & kept talking with him. When it was 5:55 I interupted & asked why it took 2 of them to work on 1 car?

@ 6pm he was topping off oil & fluids...then added air to tires. I asked him how much he was inflating them to. he said 35. I said...no wonder my car rode hard b/4. My tires should b inflated to only 32lbs. So now I am having to wait fot him to take out pressure. I was drivng away @ 6:15.

There was no pyhsical damage to be seen but I'm sure it was hard on my tires to be over inflated for a mo. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Jiffy Lube. OH, he also gave me a bogus # to call when I asked him for a Corp# or Boss #. I only wish I had gotten his name--because if he was my employee, he would be looking for another job today.

On 8/17/2008 I went to Jiffy Lube #1333 for an oil change. They took my car around before I talked to the man behind the counter to check my car in. I thought this is a good efficient use of time for everyone. NOT!! I looked out and they had already started and I still didn't know how much the charge was going to be. How did I know if I could afford it?

They told me that I needed an air filter and I gave my ok. He told me the charges would be 61.81 and I told him to just replace the air filter and forget the oil change. He told me he had already done it and that they would just have to put the old oil back in it. This brings to my mind that either they would put nothing back in (I wouldn't know until it was too late) or they would put back the dregs of oil from heaven only knows how many oil changes had been drained into that drum or place or whatever they use to collect the drained oil from other cars. That thought scared me and I let them intimidate me into allowing the oil change.

There were several men around my vehicle for an inordinate amount of time after this conversation happened. All that was needed at the time of this conversation was for the man to put the top back on the filter holder and that should have been it, drive my car out and let me pay. After all he had already told me that they had already changed the oil. The whole thing rang shifty to me.

I tried calling the 18003458237 number on the back of the receipt. I got a message to leave my name and number and I would get a call back. I got a call/message to call and ask for Mike's extension #278. I did this and he isn't answering, I leave another message with a time frame when I would be home and I still have not heard from him.

I am Jiffy Lube Customer for many years. But lately service getting worst and worst. I have filling that  employees try to squeeze every penny from customers for job needed or not. Especially victims are females. On August 25, 2008 I took my spouses car Lexus 2000 for oil change. Service man show me dirty air filter an I agree to changed. Later he told me that back turn light bulb do not work and I told him to replace. After get bill, I was shock of price of light bulb - 19.99. They charge me additional 14.99 for oil upgrade, which I was not told fefore I get my bill.

Besides my car only one more car was on service, but it took 35 minutes for service. Before they do any work they suppose tell customer price and do it if customer agree. Serviceman wipes car windows with oily rug. I have to return back to do it right. But he did not do good job again. After oil change I have to go carwash. I never again will use Jiffy Lube service and tell others about my experience.

I had a regular oil change nothing special and I was told it was 39.95. So I had that done and I had a 10 off coupon. Then they showed me my air filters and one of them was really bad. The cabin air filter so I told them to replace it and I asked how much? They told me it was 49.95 and they could give me 10.00 off. Then I was asked if I would like a copy of the invoice before I paid and I said yes. The gentleman wanted me to give him me credit card without me knowing how much the bill came to. He came back to the car with out an invoice and told me that the services were 99.95.

Well when you add the two together it is only 89.90 and I was supposed to have 20 off. I gave him the coupon after I was told repeatedly that they did not need it yet and then I reminded the gentlemen that I was also to get 10 off of the air filter. So he went back and got me a copy of the reciept and on my bill it was 68.85. Yet I still did not recieve a invoice. After he had taken my card and brought me an invoice because I had to sign for the services performed and for the card did I finally see a bill. When I saw the bill I also noticed that they had asked me if I wanted my radiator fluid topped off and that service would be 4.95. That was not even on there as to being check and I was not billed for it.

I was really disapointed because it was my first time to a Jiffy Lube and I am sure that it will be my last. Very unorganized and a lack of comunication between employees. I also checked over the internet on prices for the air filter and I seen that if I would have purchased it myself it would have been 23.95 before tax. I believe that I was scammed on this issue being that the air filter cost me 49.99 at Jiffy Lube and I realize that there has to be a price increase I understand that but I believe that 26 is a big increase and I know it was not to cover labor because it did not even take the gentlemen 5 minutes to change the air filter. I am not happy with the service that I recieved or the cost.
