Dan of Plainfield IL (04/14/09) The guy at jiffy lube was recommending my fuel filter he said he was rusted. I Changed my fuel filter a couple days before i came to get my oil change. I was very pressured into getting things I did not need. The managers there are very rude to there customers and i will never go to other jiffy lube again Jon of Glen Allen, VA March 11, 2009
Jon of Glen Allen VA (03/11/09) My wife took our car into Jiffy Lube for an oil change. During the course of the oil change, she was told the car needed a new air filter and that it would cost around 15. She said OK, go ahead and put a new one in. Upon checkout, she looked at the bill and the air filter charge came to 25. She brought it to the attention of the clerk, who said sorry, it wasn't 15, but 25. My wife explained that she was quoted 15 and that was what the cost should be. They refused to change it and my wife asked them to take it out and put the old one back in which they did.
6 months later, we took our car in to a local mechanic for some brake work, and they told us that we didn't have an air filter in the car and asked if we would like to put one in. We of course said yes and paid the mechanic 25. So Jiffy Lube took out the new air filter, but didn't put back in the old air filter and we drove the car for 6 months without an air filter. We called up the store manager and told him what happened. He said, That is impossible because we never quote you the cost of an air filter up front because there are different costs. He then said, You waited 6-mo's to find out you didn't have an air filter? I can't do anything about that because it's been too long. We told him we don't do a visual inspection of our engine every month.
We assume that when you tell someone to do some work on the car, we shouldn't have to double check that it happened. He was extremely rude to us and unwilling to do anything about it because of the length of time. Corporate was no better as they found every reason to say it was too late and we should have checked to see if we had an air filter sooner. I will never go to another Jiffy Lube again as I cannot trust the work to be done correctly. In my book, there's a high probability they will do something to damage your car due to their incompetence or deliberate acts.
Cindy of Old Bridge, NJ March 6, 2009
Cindy of Old Bridge NJ (03/06/09) I drove my 2002 Buick Rendevous in for an oil change. During this procedure the recommended I change the fuel filter. I told them no. When the oil change was completed the car would not start. The then said they thought I need a new fuel filter and said they were going to replace mine to see if that was the problem. The car still wouldn't start. I had to call my car dealer to have the car towed to their shop and upon their inspection the discovered that the o-ring as missing and was the reason the car would not start. I returned to Jiffy Lube and was told that they did not touch my fuel filter.
My car dealer mechanic has no idea how an oil change could cause the O-Ring to fall out of the fuel filter unless removed. The car drove perfectly before Jiffy Lube changed the oil (they drove it into the bay so the car was in perfect working order) and after the car dealer fixed the fuel filter.
I was charged by my car dealer since Jiffy Lube's negligence was not covered by my warrant. I was billed 100.51. Chris of Holywood, SC March 6, 2009
Chris of Holywood SC (03/06/09) I went in for a low engine coolant light that was on in my car and also to have the oil changed. They told me my coolant level was fine. I also had a whining noise in the engine that they said was the serpetine belt. I had the serpitine belt replaced and an oil change. On the way home, the coolant light came on again for low coolant and the whining noise was still there. I checked the coolant in the overflow tank and it was below the refill line. The mechanic had stated it was checked and OK.
I recently went to the Chrysler dealer to have work done and he stated that the serptine belt was the wront type and could cause strain on the pulleys. I contacted Jiffy Lube, but no action was taken to remedy the problem but an I apologize from the manager. This apology was before I found out the wrong belt had been put on.
As a result of this, I had to pay 135.97 for work that was not performed and work that was done unrelated to the problem that proved to be of no help. I am simply requesting a refund of my money. Kimberly of Redlands, CA March 5, 2009
Kimberly of Redlands CA (03/05/09) I went in today for an oil change on my 2002 Acura MDX and told them I only wanted an oil change as my husband has a fleet mechanic that can do the other needed maintenance. Halfway through the oil change an employee came in and showed me an air filter with large clumps of dirt on it and told me I needed to have it changed. I finally consented. MY mistake in not asking the price. It was the CABIN air filter for 69.99!
I feel like I was pressured into something I didn't need for an outrageous price. When I questioned the guy, he just shrugged his shoulders and pointed to the sign which said, Cabin oil filter START at 39.99 I feel like all they wanted was to sell me something I didn't need. I will NOT be returning to a Jiffy Lube in the future.
