We leased a 99 Durago and hve had nothing but problems. Now our warranty is up and we fear any moment there will be another major failure. Here is a list of problems we have had: 1) Multiple major transmission failures (about every 20K), seal leaks, irregular shifting and other malfunctions that continue today. The dealer at one time told us there was nothing wrong, and a short time later there was a major failure. We are just waiting for the next major failure transmission failure. 2) The intake gasket failed, sucking most of the oil out of the motor causing low oil pressure and the light to come on. I see by the complaints this is common problem with the 360 motor and the dealers are telling the customers it's their fault for not maintaining the vehicle as they did us. I called bull, our oil cunsumption was up to 1 quart per 100 miles before the dealer acknowledged there was a problem. 3) The steering has always been a concern since we bought it. The Durango wanders and tries to steer itself. Driving down a straight flat and even road the when you release the steering wheel the wheel moves from side to side like somone is steering it. When we drive it feels twitchy, like you're constantly fighting the vehicle for control. Even when we replaced the tires with a different brand, it had no inpact to the handling. Another indication something is wrong is that about every 10K miles the front develops a vibration, the dealer says to rotate the tires to the back and it goes away for another 10K miles, probably because the tires are cupping. This is not normal, you rotate tire to get the most mileage from your tires, not to eliminate vebrations in the front end. We had it to the dealer several times asking if it was out of alignment or had something wrong with the suspension only to be told it was in alignment and there was no problem. Now I hear that there is a major safety concern with the front suspension and I think Crysler has known about this all along putting my families life on the line. I'm angry, the quality is substandard and I have a poorly designed vehicle that is not safe to drive. I am stuck in a lease, our warranty is up, on a vehicle we fully expect to have a major failure in the near future based on its past history and continuing problems and now not only does it handle poorly but it's a safety hazard for my family. Why should I be stuck with a lease on a vehicle that will probably cost us about $3000 in the near future and every 10K - 20K and we are afraid to put my family in and drive. Even if they can fix the safety problem, how can we afford to continue to pay excessive repair bills due to bad design and quality problems. I bought this vehicle to have a safe relaible car for my family, this car has been anything but that. I will never buy or lease a Chysler product again. Report Your Experience
