Brake rotors wear out as soon as 15k miles and require replacement.

I am experiencing the same problem with my brakes that the latest Chrysler products recall is having. My brakes do the same thing that the Dodge Nitro and Jeep is doing. I have run 2 stop signs because of the delay I experience when I go up a small hill below my house. When I try to stop and make a turn the brakes delay and then go almost to the floor. I have reported it to the dealership where I purchased the Durango. Since it doesn't do it everytime they just tell me it within specs.

Lately on my 99 2500 V10 Dodge P/U, my ABS breaks and emergency brake light has been flashing on and off and staying on at times. Only recently did I do normal breaking and my ABS activated like I was sliding in winter conditions. It's been sparatic but consistant also at times. I am running stock size tires, 245 75R 16's and just changed my pads before last winter. I have noticed some brake fluid loss but it's minor and over a period of a few months.

I have been to 2 different dealerships complaining about the brakes in my 2004 Dodge Durango. I have taken serviceman on rides and all they do is look at me while trying to stop in disbelief. Then they tell me there is nothing that they can do and i have complained about this from day one. After 48,ooo miles and several near misses later,i'm back at square one.I have filed a complaint with the NTSB but have heard nothing from them in the last 2 months. What do i do?

I will never buy a Dodge again..

I just replaced both rear drums and brakes. I also just added another set of brakes to the front.

On 09-27-06 I pulled out of a gas station into the median until it was safe for me to continue but when I braked, my steering wheel locked up and so did the brakes and the Durango went to the left. I let off the brake and stood on the pedal and it finally stopped. A car was coming and thank God the lady saw what was happening and stopped before she got to me. I have an appointment with Burgin Ddoge here in Knoxville today for an oil change and I told them about what happened and they said they would check it out today and that my transmission may need to be flushed but I believe there's more to it than that. I have never had anything like that happen. I work in an area that is busy and has a lot of gas stations and 18 wheelers that stop for gas. I hope it doesn't happen one day when I pull out near where I work.

I have a 2002 Dodge Durango with 46,000 miles on it. I have had to replace the brakes twice already. Bergey Dodge say they say 25,000 miles is all you can expect out of a pair of rotors due to the weight of the truck.
Based on their statement if I keep the truck until 100,000 I will need 4 set of pads and rotors, this is crazy!

I purchased a used Dodge Durango April of 2002 with the statement, "this is a great reliable truck for a family, you will get a lot of use out of it." To my surprise, as soon as I had it home for one month, the front rotors went bad and I had to fight with the dealership to replace them. At that time, I also had the steering wheel adjusted, since it was REALLY turned to the left, instead of being centered. I also complained of the engine cooling fan coming on ALL the time, but they stated that was normal and didn't even look at it. Than, about six months later, I had to get the front rotors replaced again, although they stated they had put lifetime brake pads on the vehicle. I replaced these myself, putting the best brake pads on that I could find.
Well, I purchased the vehicle with 63,000 miles, and at 75,000 miles, I am now having the transmission rebuilt....what a piece of crap...not to mention an UNRELIABLE vehicle for a family. I am deeply saddened, since when I called the Dodge dealership I was told that this was uncommon (the transmission stuff), yet when I took it to an independent repairman, he stated that he sees a lot of Durangos or Dakotos coming in, "you are lucky you even got 75,000, usually they go out around 50 or 60,000." Lucky me...
