I called TECO at 4 AM to report an outage at my tenant's home and was given an estimated return of service by 7 AM the same morning. I suspected it was the underground feed line at fault, and assumed there was no way to repair it that quickly. For that matter, I found it difficult to believe they could even respond that soon. I returned to the home at 7 AM to check the status, and the service crew was there and had already dug up and repaired the underground feed lines! I was astonished with the quick response and timely repair. Absolutely outstanding! Thank you, TECO!

Since 1999 TECO’s loss of power situations continuously plague my neighborhood year round. Underground lines should be problem free. S/B Customer service over Cost analysis. Payless to match incompetence.

Teco not only overcharges and is making us pay for the hurricane damage last year, but they really do not care about their customers. I asked if I could pay half my balance today and the rest tomorrow and they could not and would work with me anyway and shut my power off. Even though it's 2,000 degrees outside and I have a baby. They really are heartless and all about money and finding any way to get more money out of us.

I am extremely dissatisfied with the service I received from your customer support team. Not only were they rude and unhelpful, but when I asked to speak with someone else, the representative abruptly hung up the phone. On top of the poor service, I’ve been charged incorrectly. You took payment twice: once from my card and once from the initial deposit I paid when I started the service. Then, when I decided to close my account, I was told I needed to pay an additional fee of $100—which I paid. However, when my deposit was finally returned two weeks later, I only received $50 back, meaning you effectively charged me twice. I would like a clear explanation of the charges and a refund for the incorrect or duplicate charges as soon as possible. If this is not resolved promptly, I will have no choice but to escalate the matter further

Teco is the worst!!! My bill is soooo high and it literally makes zero sense why, the guy came out to order a tech to check the meter and he did say he understands why I’m confused as well. The amount of watts they are charging me for doesn’t add up to how I am living whatsoever! I’m using almost as much people in my neighborhood who have pools and keep their AC 10* colder than mine! My ac is set to 77*, I’m hot in my house, no blinds open, new windows, new ac unit, it’s serviced twice a year actually as well to be safe, new appliances, I don’t turn on lights unless absolutely needed, don’t open blinds either and have energy saver blinds as well! I barely turn tv on and don’t use my oven but twice a week because I make enough for left overs. My water tank is propane so doing all this my bill should not be reading almost 1800 kwh and giving me a $353 bill! It’s absurd, and the customer service reps are rude as well!

Literally the worst electric company in the United States. I’ve traveled a lot and never have I had an electric company worse than TECO. Terribly run, bad customer service, and the power shuts off any chance it gets. Storms, random outages, you name it. On top of the power randomly shutting off every other day, the amount of time it takes TECO to actually fix the problem is the highest in the country. There has got to be a way to get this company eliminated. Their monopoly is not for the good of anyone in Tampa and I don’t know anyone who is happy with their services. Please find another way to ruin people’s lives TECO, we need our electricity company to be reliable.

Their customer service is very very horrible. They read a script, don't budge and make accusations that it's always the customer fault they are down. Monopoly and they don't care about anybody but their pockets and it makes life miserable when you hit hard times. The worst part is when you call in they do not allow or work with you because they are pain in the butt. They don't listen, they don't care all they worry about is money. They're greedy and need to be dealt with.

This is seriously the WORST company EVER. First of all, good luck signing up online. You never get an email to confirm registration. Wanna call? Well, you will be waiting for 45 minutes and then they will hang up on you. I am forced to just pay my bill on the phone as if it's 1945. IMPOSSIBLE to reach these people. It is insanity.

TECO does not care about financial hardship. Called numerous times. Employees do not care if you’re going through divorce. Be prepared to get soaked Teco. I am hopefully putting enough together to change this. I am going to go to the news and also do a podcast on teco's failure to customers. They have no empathy for you. All they do is want their money. They don’t care about your problems and their employees don’t care about your problems. I have evidence of this. Anybody that’s willing to listen. I’m willing to talk.

Prime TIme Plus Credit misleads customers. I had it installed in late 2024. They said the monthly rebate was $9.00 but starting January 2025 it would double. Got my first bill (covering Jan, 7 - Feb. 4) and guess what? Same amount. I called customer service and the agent explained that they should have never told me that. It was requested and is still being reviewed (as of Feb. 27). She said it probably will not happen so Pffft on the person that set up the appointment by telling me something they should not have. I have no faith in what TECO tells customers. I would not recommend TECO if customers had a choice of power. Misleading information is nothing more that misinformation which is nothing more than what politicians say. Big company, big lies and therein lies the problem. No wonder this country is going to hell, by being dragged down with lies and fake news.

HORRIBLE SERVICE! Customer service is fit for a refugee service! This is embarrassing to say I have to pay monthly bills to these thieves. Duke Energy are no saints but their service is 1000 percent better. If you have a choice go with Duke, if not you're in for the worst experience of your life. How my mom on dialysis machine, and our service can’t be restored until the next day! This one situation caused me to move to get from under TECO's oppression!

Teco is the worst ** electric company that I have dealt with in years! Not only experiencing over a week long without power after the hurricane but less than two weeks later our power went out for over 12 hours and still counting! This company is garbage, very greedy but I bet if I didn’t pay my bill, they would cut me off immediately despite the emergency or excuse I may have! Instead of patching of lines and piecing together a garbage ** transformer, use the money you’re ripping off from us and invest in new equipment! I swear I hate this company!!

The effort, hard work and dedication to restore power after Milton catastrophe is nothing but outstanding. Two days without power with all the damage I have seen with my own eyes to see power restore in my neighborhood can only be achieve by top notch companies like TECO. I am speechless. I was expecting weeks of no power with all the trash and flooding all over the county. Thank you TECO and all involved in the community and local government to see these come through.

TECO is Completely garbage service as their grids are constantly malfunctioning, and they have 1/3 of my community on a Different grid which is always down anytime there is a storm. They take forever to respond. They overcharge for everything. This is a horrendous company monopolizing on their customers. Hopefully, soon enough we’ll get a different power source in my area of 33647. I absolutely detest this company.

Can't live in a TECO house without whole house backup. I'm not talking about a generator even though I have one. I'm talking about a UPS system with car batteries to carry your electronics through the numerous blips, spikes, and 5 minute outages. Power outages from storms, maintenance, and unknowns require a generator.

Cannot provide consistent service lights, dimming, even in non-peak hours, power outages regularly for the Mulberry area for Teco. Report them to the state government for review, they have one job to do, but because of government subsidies they lack the actual drive to do a job with excellence. Quite depressing.

Please if you move to Florida go anywhere else except for where TECO services. They are really THEE worst monopoly ever!! I say this as a very rational person who pays their bill every month. I cannot begin to tell you the gaslighting that happens here. It's outrageous! They bill you crazily, threaten you if you're two days late, have all sorts of crazy charges - they actually have a charge just for providing you electric? Like that's your entire business! There are all types of tiny charges that add up. It's really so sad this world.

I'm not sure what's going on with Tampa Electric but this is the second time I paid a bill and they sent me a return fee notice when they didn't try to take the money out. It's still sitting in my bank account. I'm not understanding how this can happen but the last time it happened they tried to say I did something wrong. I had to keep telling the agent on the phone the same thing over and over. They took the return check fee but I'm guessing they didn't notate my account of this error on their part so here we are with the same thing again. Since they have made changes the service and call waiting is horrible.

My electric usage in the past year has not changed and my bill has increased $100 a month. I lowered my thermostat 3 degrees and the cost went up. I want to go on budget billing. I have gone on 3 different website for the company I do not see a way to do it. The help button is no help at all. I have called 3 different numbers for the company and 3 different days and have been on hold on all for at least 20 minutes. Some over 30 minutes. Still I can not get help from a human. If they can charge me over $400 a month you think they could hire a few people to answer the phone.

I had my electric shut off the 14th of March since I was moving. My account had $1448 left in it which included my deposit of $79. I have called TECO ELECTRIC 5 times for my refund of my deposit and the remainder of my LIHEAP. I get nothing but the excuses why I don't get my money back. LIheap gave them the funds for my electric bills to be paid. I was SUPPOSED to get a check refund of that money and my deposit. My electric bills still have to be paid where I moved to. I am almost 75 years old, on a very low income and disability. How can TECO operate like this and get away with it. If it's happened to me, I wonder how many more it's happening to.

I feel like my money has been stolen for the last 20 years by this company. I was not in my house for two months and they are still charging. In cold season they include a heater even if you don't have one and in hot season they include an AC even if you don't have one. When you speak to customer service they treat you like you are begging. I WANT TO SUE THEM BECAUSE THEY HAVE LEFT ME IN RUIN.

TECO is offering a backup electric generator from Generac. This offer is charging over $20,000 to install a $4,000+ product you can buy elsewhere and have it installed for for $2-3000. Many people are rating this generator as 1 star, mainly on its reliability as poor and lack of company backup. So a question to TECO is why are you charging about $13,000 premium? I have a Kohler 20kw generator, it costs lots less, have been reliable in the times it's been needed and it has an engine made in WI not China like these Generac may have.

Why would an electric company having a floating due date, except to set customers up to fail. Everyone works on a budget, with set pay day or dates, and expenses for each. I get paid every 1st, and my TECO bill is due the 1st or 2nd this month, then the 28th or 30th next month, of course my payments will be late about 50% of the time. This makes no sense. Electricity is not a luxury. It is not optional. This practice should be illegal.

I have been a TECO customer for over 26 years. I am never ‘really’ surprised at their tactics and lousy customer service. As a community Tampa deserves much better. If this company had competition we would see them doing things like a phone text informing us that there is a pending shutoff. Customers could have paperless billing. Customers would know in real time of any billing or excessive usage issues.
I have relatives in other areas where their electric service has options. Amazingly, unlike TECO, they experience a level of customer service that’s actual humane. No trickery. They message your phone 72 hours before shutoff. In case you missed that notice, they tag your door, instead of shutting you off, giving you one last chance to avoid it. Unlike TECO, it appears that they are NOT trying to profit from shutoffs. They care about their customers because if they mistreat you, they could lose you. No surprises or trickery. No excuses why they don’t have up to date practices. TECO does not have up to date practices because it’s not in their best interests. They create the laws behind most consumers' backs. They have the power and control of our lawmakers in their pockets. Fairness will only be present with competition.
We must not accept this poor behavior any longer. We must begin the process of allowing this electricity market its due right. We must allow competition to enter this marketplace. It must be legislated in. Please contact your lawmakers or change can never prevail. TECO are the police, Mayer, judge and jury all wrapped up as one. It’s high time this injustice ends!!

Method of payment was 1 money order and 1 cashier's check. Teco credited me for the check but somehow lost my money order, given the fact they were mailed together. I was told by a CSR that since I used a money order to pay, it wont be recognized as a payment! What!? I've been paying with a money order since 2014 and now I'm stuck paying this bill again with late fees attached. It is a shame that they don't take my money orders anymore so now I have to pay more money just to pay my bill, UNACCEPTABLE PRACTICES but it's not like I can vote with my wallet on a monopoly company. Still almost 2 months later no reply and got stuck paying my bill twice. A complete sham!!
