Even though V2Go was not the tour operator, they represented to us the superior quality and professionalism of Gate1 tours. This tour was a nightmare from the 2nd day! Tour was interrupted halfway because of low water (which was not their fault) but they should have bused us to the next port and pick up the ship there (which VIKING RIVER CRUISES DID FOR THEIR 400 PASSENGERS ON 3 SHIPS!). Gate 1 did not give us what they promised regarding meals, drinks etc. I could go on and on but in the end: Do not book a river cruise with V2Go and Gate 1 travel. You get what you pay for!

I've booked about 18 cruises over 15 years, using Vacations To Go. I've never had a problem and in a couple of cases I had truly exceptional service. I notice a few of the other complaints are about the ships and not V2G. Lifeboats below your deck are not considered an obstruction by the cruise lines. Only something on your deck obstructing your view directly out your window is considered an obstruction. We had the same issue but we were at least aware of it having looked at deckplans.

Thank you for continuing to choose Vacations To Go to help with planning your cruise vacations. We sincerely appreciate your business and look forward to being of continued service for many years to come.

I'm an experienced cruiser who has never used them, but when I saw their ad for a January 2016 cruise, it caught my eye. It said: "Exclusive Offer! Book select Oceanview categories and higher, and receive a FREE $150 per cabin onboard credit plus choose one of the following offers: 1. An additional $300 per cabin onboard (for a total per cabin onboard credit of $450), or 2. FREE pre-paid gratuities for two, or 3. A FREE Classic Beverage Package for two, which includes select alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages onboard, or 4. Unlimited Internet access." When I called them, they immediately told me that this "free" offering cost an additional $300!

I made a mistake on the reservation I made on a hotel through VTG, noticed it right after and I cancelled the reservation. They canceled the room but did not inform me until they had done it that there is no refund for the charges. I was off by one day on the date. Called Best Western to complain, they say it was VTG's policy for no refund. VTG says it is Best Western policy, nothing can be done. I'm out $115.00 for a room I didn't use. I won't use Best Western or VTG again.

I went to a Cancun resort for my little brother's wedding and used Vacations To Go to book the flight and resort. VTG saved me $1,250 vs going with a travel agent to the same resort. We flew non stop to and from Cancun - the same as our friends & relatives. We enjoyed the same amenities from the resort. Room service, sailboats, all the food, espresso, booze that we could consume. The only difference being - I paid $1,250 less for my trip! I plan on booking another vacation with Vacationstogo.com for my wife & I in the near future.

Thank you for trusting Vacations To Go to assist in planning your Cancun vacation. We look forward to the opportunity to be of service anytime you are ready to begin planning your next trip.

The company Vacations to Go finally resolved this issue to my satisfaction. I would recommend VTG to others for booking a cruise vacation. A word of thanks to ConsumerAffairs and the Houston Better Business Bureau for helping in resolving my issue.

Holland America charged us $25.00 a day for "Hotel Services" on contacting the Vacations to Go. I was given an 800 number to call HA about this charge. I emailed Mr Alan ** of VTG who replied he would have someone look into this. The follow up was that the VTG agent was at fault. Our original bill paying for cruise indicated that gratuities were included in the fee. VTG has wiped their hands of this matter and offered a 10% discount on a future cruise. I want my $175.00 that was charged by HA as an additional gratuity over and above what we paid to VTG. Vacations to Go in my mind is definitely a buyer beware internet company.

We are glad we were able to address your concerns to your satisfaction and I hope we will have the opportunity to be of service once again in the future.

Having used VTG in the past, suggested to friends we use them for our Splendors of Europe river cruise. The cruise line canceled our original date but our agent neglected to mention it at all until six months later attaching a document from the cruise line requesting documentation which we provided to her in the beginning. (She still did not mention the change. I caught it while looking at the attachment.) To make an error riddled, long sordid story short we have received no apology regarding this mix-up and our agent's supervisor has totally placed the blame on the cruise line and accepts no fault by any of the staff or self. I'm concerned that this experience may not yet be over as we have not received our documents to date as promised. I'm extremely disappointed and will not use this company again - mainly because of the total disregard for our feelings.

My husband and I, along with 3 of our friends booked a river boat cruise with this company. Our contact person is Tracia ** and her supervisor is Jay **. When we booked we gave all the information (name, address, birth date, passport info, etc) but the first email back from Tracia had incorrect information... names not spelled correctly, wrong dates of birth, one person missing insurance (which we ordered and was included in payment). Everything she sent had an error of some type. My friend received an email from Tracia around the end of April asking for personal information (again) and she noticed it said our sailing date was 7/27 instead of 8/22.
Called Tracia and she said she tried to call me in February but I had not responded to her. We were in Mexico for three months and I show no record of her calling.. there wasn't an email sent to any of us nor did she try to call one of the others. She said the trip had been cancelled and it wasn't her fault (as usual) and that she had rebooked us on an earlier date. Luckily we could go on the earlier date but had to change our airline tickets. She said due to the confusion, they would pay the change fee. Gave all information (or most of it) again and she sent new confirmations but she had 4 of us leaving on 7/27 and ONE leaving on 8/11... so another call to get us all on the same trip.
In June she contacted me once again for flight info and passport info (this is at least 3 times) and told me the documents would be here in a week to 10 days. We are past that time frame so I will be calling her in the morning and I just discovered we don't have transportation from the airport to the ship, even though I have ordered it now three times but I confirmation says "no airport to ship transfer."
My friend contacted Tracia's supervisor but the complaint was basically ignored. I would NEVER recommend them and will do my best to warn anyone I know looking for an agency, to stay away from this one. I've been traveling for many years and have never encountered this many problems in all my years together. I have no faith that everything will be correct or even if we will have reservations to take the trip. We are traveling on Emerald Waterways and I have heard good things about them but I question why they would connect themselves to Vacations to Go???

When we arrived to check it they had the wrong price for the hotel, so that took 25 minutes to sort out and the rep. wouldn't speak to me (the person's money he was messing with) just the man at the front desk. When that was finally dealt with, they didn't add the tickets for the attraction package that I ordered at the same time. I have spoken with 5 different reps. in 2 days and they all have other excuse and someone else to pass the buck to. I would NEVER use this company again. Things happen but when you're not honest enough to make them right it can be fixed. They could care less about ruining our family trip.

I recently booked a family cruise consisting of about 35 people through Vacations To Go. They misrepresented their prices to gain the sale/bookings. When trying to reach someone to get this resolved, they gave the run around on everything and would not take responsibility for anything. I will never ever use this travel agent again. They say everything can be done online but you can book online but still have to reach them to make payments which prove to not be useful. The experience was horrible.

On the VTG website it states that "Port charges are included," and they are charging me an additional $480 for government taxes. The same cruise on the Princess website says the port charges AND taxes are $480. So I expected only taxes to be added to my cruise if I book thru VTG, and it would be less than $480. But VTG claims that the taxes are $480, port charges are $720. But that's not what Princess states on their website. Princess specifically states that "Port and taxes are $480." Has anyone else addressed this discrepancy? I don't want to be petty, but I pursue a good deal based on what's advertised and assume that's what I will get.

The same evening I booked the trip I had to cancel for reasons beyond my control. It probably took them 10 minutes to take the money from my account, but here it is May 15 and I still don't have all my money. I have talked with Vacations to Go several times and have gotten the runaround saying I will have it in 6 weeks. On May 13 I called again and was put on hold for about 30 minutes while she called the cruise line, well to make a long story short I was told that my folder got lost in the cracks. The lady is supposed to call me today so we will see. I am reporting them to the BBB as well as Holland American. I know $181400 is not a lot of money to some, but it is to me.

We were to sail on the Emerald Princess from 2/22-3/1/2015. We booked with Vacations To Go. Pinney Lake, our travel agent was very helpful. When booking, I asked about the Princess travel insurance and was told CSA insurance was a better product. Not true. We were unable to travel due to an ice storm that shut down our county for 4 days. We had no power and could not get off our road due to downed power lines and fallen trees. My 85-year old aunt who is too dependent lives with us and could not be left without assistance. Her nurse could not get to our home due to the storm. When I asked about the CSA coverage, I was told it covered everything. Not so. My claim was denied. I was told by CSA and Vacations To Go this was not their problem. Well whose problem was it? Don't book with Vacations To Go or buy CSA insurance. I wish I knew about this site before dealing with Vacations To Go.

At first when you call them, they seem so friendly and helpful. Then after they are paid, you can't get a hold of them. There was a promo out that I could have got which would have saved me 1000.00 for the cruise I booked and they failed to tell me about it. One THOUSAND dollars! I didn't find out until later and when I took it up with them, of course they wouldn't reimburse me the money. Even though it was their fault I lost out on the promo. My advice, do your own booking and look for your own best prices. DON'T TRUST THEM to look out for you.

The person I was going to travel with fell ill and is unable to travel. She hasn't even paid any money towards the trip yet, so I have a replacement person to take her spot and the agent cancelled the one person, took $120 of my money assuming she'd paid money, added the other person on a completely different flight so we're not traveling together and the worse part is they have $2,800 which is what I've paid so far and he says "It's my day off. I'll take care of it Thursday when I come back in." So I have nothing to confirm anything, no flight, no nothing, hanging in limbo and a new balance going from $250 to $700 and it's not finalized yet. It could be more and I only had one more payment of $250 to pay by April 28th. He wouldn't even give an extension till mid May. NOTHING I HAVE AND NOTHING!!

What is available are the same cabins are available but at a higher price. When VTG is questioned regarding the change in pricing, the only response I receive is "We need to update our website." Thank you to all the people who have taken the time to write these reviews. I was just about to book with them and now definitely will not! They told me we had to pay $300 insurance before they would accept my booking. I found this very strange as have traveled extensively and always arrange my own comprehensive policy before I leave home. I challenged the "CEO? Alan" on this and he replied that yes, I could ask for a waiver form and then get my own insurance policy, so this is obviously a scam. On their website it says that P&O insist on all passengers paying V2G for this insurance. I rang P&O and they said “No, that is not true. You can purchase your own choice of insurance.” So beware! Advertised prices are not available when you call. We have attempted numerous times to book a cruise at "advertised" prices. However, EVERY TIME we have called, the prices "have not been updated" and the price available is at least DOUBLE what is listed. In my opinion, this company lists prices to solicit calls, and then does not honor the prices listed.

This agency is nothing better than a used car dealership! They advertised a so called "sale of the year". I checked out a Holland America cruise which for "select ocean view cabins" included free booze for the 27 day cruise. The price was $2199. When I called the price jumped to $6599 as the original price apparently was for a "non select" cabin!. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I got this arrogant lady who basically said that was the way it was. I wrote the CEO, no response. I have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. I used them once before no problems, I think they have gone completely corrupt. Final note, I checked Holland America's website, with the "free" booze it was $3199. Throughout my whole booking process with Vacations To Go they were extremely courteous and helpful leading me to believe my vacation would be just as nice. Immediately upon our arrival at our hotel did we find out the truth. We went to Cancun, Mexico and requested a hotel in the hotel strip in order so we should be able to be near the kosher restaurant that we needed. Not only were we 25 minutes away from the strip itself, we were so far out that only taxis could take us to the strip for a minimum of $40! We paid over $3400 dollars for an all inclusive trip, hotel, food and activities. Once I told V2G about my kosher status they should have informed me that I do not and should not get the all inclusive package as it does not pertain to my situation, but alas they didn't. Besides for the kosher problem V2G told us that we were getting a $750 resort credit to use as we wish on top of the inclusive activities the hotel provides.
Upon arrival we found out that the $750 resort credit was actually our whole amount to spend on any of the activities and one activity alone was the full amount of the credit. I called V2G from the hotel and complained. This was our honeymoon, we had saved up money to book and simply couldn't afford to keep spending. They were extremely unhelpful and did not care and did nothing to help us. I paid so much money and basically all I got out of it was a hotel room.
After a disappointing phone call with V2G, we complained to the hotel guest services and after a day and a half of wasted vacation time, they put us up in their sister hotel which was on the strip and exactly where we needed to be with no thanks to V2G. We had a great end to our vacation until the last day when our airport transportation, that V2G provided, came and went without us waiting a miserable 7 minutes (we had a problem checking out) and refused to come back. We had to pay more money again to get to airport. Overall very disappointed and will not be using V2G again!

I have been a customer of VTG since the late 1980s. As a single dad, I took my 11 year old daughter in late July to Europe for the first time spanning two weeks. The first week was delightful. It was a land tour with Gate One of the major cities in Italy. This company is not affiliated with Norwegian Cruise Lines. We were not told they were separate and landed at the airport wondering why there was no one to greet us. We found someone later to help us, but only learned we were part of Gate One when we checked in at our Venetian hotel and were informed we were part of the Gate One group. This is a reflection of poor communication efforts on the part of VTG.
Unlike the week on land, the second week was a cruise with NCL. When I booked with NCL, I was told this was a 5 star ship and was impeccable. The manager told me he had sailed on the Epic the year before. In making the reservation, I required VTG contact NCL to make sure there were no view obstructions. We paid a premium not only for a balcony but a mini suite for the week. I addressed the location with our travel agent and was told that there would be nothing impeding our view. In fairness, I insisted VTG call NCL who represented there was no obstruction. I even addressed my refusal to book a room with mechanical, etc hanging below the room.
When we arrived, we immediately saw enormous lifeboats just below the foot of our balcony jutting at least 25 feet into the water. You could see nothing below the plane. Beaches, water, etc. All were obstructed. Again, in fairness, VTG contacted NCL but when NCL said there was no obstruction they punted. This reflects poor follow-up on VTG and poor representation of their customers as well.
Worst of all our room was filthy. We arrived to find refuse in storage areas and dirty cleaning rags in some of the drawers. 2 nights into the cruise we arrived back from dinner to what we thought were clean sheets. My daughter pulled hers back to find sheets obviously stained with human body fluids. 2 nights later, we again had to request a sheet change because there were black minute particles on the bed. God knows what they were. Clearly, the filthy room is not VTG fault. However, when I notified Alan Fox, CEO, of the issue, he forwarded to Dalia ** who disclaimed all responsibility. Granted, it is not VTG's fault, but if they don't pressure their providers to provide clean rooms and be truthful about views, how will things ever change? I will never use VTG again.

Unfortunately for me I now get several nuisance calls a day from spruikers trying to sell me cruises and entering me into competitions I know nothing about. It's obvious now they passed on or sold my contact details which I consider immoral if not illegal. Also the price they advertise cruises for isn't the final price. We booked our Viking Riverboat Cruise to Russia through Vacations To Go. All went extremely well and the agent we deal with, along with our information, got us an unbelievable deal. When I was getting all of our trip requirements together, the agent assured me that "they" would be taking the necessary actions to obtain our Visas that were required for our entry to Russia. He told me that the visas would be given to us on the train from Helsinki, Finland to Moscow as we booked a pre-trip to Helsinki and the train ride was part of the trip.
While in Helsinki, I spoke to the Viking representative at our hotel and she told me that "there is no information" regarding any visas for us. Without a visa, we had no option other than to return to the U.S. It cost us 1800 euros EACH, or the equivalent of almost $4,500 to fly back to Chicago AT OUR EXPENSE. When we contacted the Vacations To Go agent while we were still in Helsinki, he told us that there was NOTHING HE COULD DO........................DUHHHH. We asked about the Trip Insurance with a trip Interruption clause that we purchased through him and he said he thinks we are "out of luck". We did not get the cabins we asked for. The noise level was unbearable (Epic and Costa). The tips are now mandatory and service has gone by the wayside. In other countries the price advertised is inclusive. It should be the same here. It is very misleading if you don't know about all the added fees. Because of the mandatory tips service is virtually non exist an on board the most ships - the NCL, Carnival and Costa are the worst. You have solicited feedback in the verbiage throughout the Vacations to Go website, so we feel compelled to provide ours in detail. We just returned on 6/5 from a Caribbean cruise on the Carnival Victory. We have booked a few of our 14+ cruises with VTG, including a 10 day Mediterranean cruise on HAL, and Caribbean cruises on RCCL and Celebrity. When speaking with Chase **, our VTG Cruise Consultant, we never felt "fully briefed" on what to expect on our most recent Carnival cruise. We had some hesitations about the reputation of the line, so we will take responsibility for not asking enough questions about Carnival and the specific Victory ship.
With that said, let us share the 5 night adventure we encountered on what we not so fondly term the "Animal House Party Barge" cruise. The ship itself is dirty and in grave disrepair (it goes in to dry dock next year - long overdue). Our beds (see attached photos) were so broken down we could barely walk after sleeping in them. Note how you can see the severe sag in the mattress even when the bed is fully made with a down comforter. The formal dining linens were raggedy, and the bedding and bath linens were no better.
We were shocked to find our cruise mates in the adjoining cabins frequently smoking marijuana, as well as a number of guests on the exterior walkways/decks of the ship. A significant number of other guests were unruly and clearly inebriated in the public areas of the ship. The crew dealt with a few of them, but this was clearly the "culture" of the ship.
The food was far and above the worst we have ever had on any of the cruises we have ever taken, even in the formal dining room. Regarding the formal dining room, we certainly did not appreciate the "strobe light show" preceding the crew show/act, nor the loud music throughout the dinner hour. Might we mention the multitude of crew members that performed pseudo "strip shows" for the howling passengers during the dinner act - if we could have flown home, we would have.
We are mid 40's/50's and did not expect a HAL experience by any means. We just never expected all that we experienced on this cruise, and will be quick to warn people about our experience. There are so many other details that we will not belabor you with. We truly tried to find some redeeming factor on this cruise - Adrian in the martini bar was a smart, conversant and friendly staff member that we enjoyed talking with. He was our "bright star" on a dark 5 night cruise.
In the end we truly feel "ripped off", and that our $2,000+ was poorly spent.

I booked an ocean-view room and I ended up with a garden-view room. I would never use them again. When I spoke to them, they said they could pull up my fast deal number and confirmed that I only booked the garden-view for $1200 more than what the garden view room actually cost! I asked for the fast deal number and it didn't work in their website. They said that fast deal quotes expire. Then how did THEY look it up? These people are sketchy and I recommend you don't lose $1200 like I did.

On June 1st, I contacted Vacations To Go to purchase Tour #** to Greece departing 6/20/14. Travel Counselor Titan ** happened to be the person arranging the vacation package. He said the date was a factor and he was not sure if the tour were still available. He said he would contact the tour providers and should have a response within 2 days. It has been (4) days and I got no confirmation of the tour. Meanwhile, I had to go ahead with flight arrangements. I do not own the airlines, therefore, I could not wait until last minute to arrange the flight. I explained this to Mr. **; his first response was to wait until the confirmation.
After I told him I did not want to have a confirmed tour and no flight available for such dates, He recommended to purchase insurance at $226, (which they sell) or get a refundable ticket. I explained to this gentleman, I did not understand why should I incur additional expenses when it was them who were not meeting the deal. Then on day 3, Mr. ** is out of the office; I got an email stating his manager would contact me to follow up on the tour. On 6/5, late afternoon, I was puzzled Mr. ** had not made any attempts to contact me at all. He too was also out of the office.
I called Vacations to speak to any manager on duty. That turned out to be a disaster. I spent hours calling and emailing Vacations To Go attempting to speak to any manager to no avail. All I got were the operators. I provided my telephone number and did get an email from a Riley ** stating she was unable to reach me with the number I provided. I called her back; no response; called again; left my number again, no on/off duty manager had the courtesy to contact me. Not even an acknowledging my cancellation email. I am wondering if this tour operator takes place in a boiler room.
In hindsight, I am glad this lack of professionalism occurred before taking the trip rather than after spending my money with Vacations To Go. I had made flight reservation with Delta Airlines, which ended up costing me $150.00 to cancel. Another complaint, on the website, Vacations To Go advertise one price and when you speak to them, the price continues to increase with all the add-ons. This particular Tour advertised for $2101, final cost $2790. Add-ons such $30-$40 for tip, which I believe should optional. How do I know who is getting the additional $30-$40 tip? On what do they base that amount on? Then the single supplements. I contacted several hotels directly in Greece to find out there is no such thing as single supplement for rooms. As a matter of fact, single rooms cost less. I plan to follow up with the BBB and the State Attorney Office to investigate this racket of tacking on additional costs to tours. The consequence: lost time and $150.00. Now I have to make other vacation arrangements. I will also complain to corporate as well.

I'm sorry there are some people who have had negative experiences with Vacations to Go. Out of at least a half dozen cruises, my wife and I have been 100% satisfied. I always use William ** to make the arrangements and he is Johnny on the spot. I comparison shop, as is my nature, and even if I find a slightly cheaper price somewhere else, I still go with VTG. However, it is rare that there is a cheaper price out there. No, they don't put all the fees in the advertised price, but does anyone. A veteran traveler knows there will be port charges and other government fees, but that's not VTG's fault.

Happened so quick, I didn't really have a good chance to think about it. Now, called Vacations To Go to try to figure out what had really happened and they tell me if I cancel, first of all the cruise is not refundable, oh wait it is but you will lose half of what you paid. When I called the Manager was rude as well. No such thing as customer service at this company. Once they booked you, you're done. Do yourself a favor, do not use this agency. I was then told that the Vacations To Go website had a "mistake" on the price of the room and it would now cost me an additional $800! When I got to the hotel and after spending few days there, we realized that we may need to make some changes and stay another day because we were not sure about the weather coming back. We tried calling the company to a collect number that was given to us by them. The number they gave us did not accept collect calls! I called the company on my own expense - its $1/minute to call from there. I was told by the representative that any change made will cost me $150.00 per person with the airline and any other expenses would be on me. So I wondered why did they convince me to purchase the insurance for the vacation for $300.00 so I was told that it is only in case of an emergency and that if there are flight delays of MORE THAN 12hrs!

I booked with Vacations To Go for a week long trip to Cozumel for myself, daughter and two grandsons. It was in writing and verbally told to me that my 12 year old grandson would eat free at our hotel. We arrived at the hotel and I asked if my 12 year old would be ordering off of our menu or a special menu. No one knew anything about eating for free for youngsters. I called Vacations To Go from the hotel and was told that someone would get back with the hotel or me. I went to the desk several times and also try to call Vacations To Go again but no one there would take my call. We went ahead and ate at the hotel for the rest of the week. My grandson's total bill was $177.00 and I kept my receipts.
Upon getting home, I began to e-mail Vacations To Go to report what happened. Faxed my receipts to them and was told they would get back with me. Two weeks later, I e-mailed again and was told they had not received the fax which was faxed to the number that they gave me. I had a confirmation number that it went through. I faxed it again and waited two weeks and e-mailed again and was told it was being looked at. Two weeks later, I e-mailed again and told it was somewhere else in the stage of being looked at. After a couple more weeks and another e-mail telling them this was not just going to disappear and a few threats, they credited my account only $77.00. Not using them again, period....

We went through Vacations To Go to book a Honeymoon Cruise from Savona, Italy with 3 stops and back to Savona. We got to Milan, Italy 2 days in advance and on the day we were supposed meet the cruise line they did not show. We missed the cruise and did not get our money refunded because the cruise line said they were there. We waited 4 hours in front of baggage claim and no one with our name or the cruise line name was anywhere to be seen. We walked through the number of people holding signs at least once every 5 - 10 minutes. No one approached except another vacation club who felt sorry for us. They had never heard nor see anyone with our names or the cruise line name in the hours that they were there. We were not given any emergency numbers by Vacations To Go to contact anyone.
We finally got on the airport internet (mistake) and found number that would work for Vacations To Go outside of the U.S. They told us to take a taxi (very expensive) or catch a flight (also expensive) to Barcelona and the cruise would pick us up there. Since using my Visa Card on the airport internet it was hacked by whomever operates the internet in London and Luxembourg, Germany. They tried to get $52.10 on my card more than 15 times. The fraud division stopped that but also cut off my card. So Vacations To Go has not gotten back to me about a refund and Costa Cruise Lines has not gotten back to me about a refund.
I believe that the cruise lines have Vacations To Go in their back pocket so they will not create any waves. So we had to change our flight plans back home and our HONEYMOON was ruined by these people. I feel that Vacations To Go gave the cruise line the wrong date for pick up and they will not admit it. OR the cruise lines did not send anyone as they were supposed to and we paid for the transfer fees and the cruise ahead of time. We also could not use a room that was booked for us when we returned from the cruise since we were departing a day later. My father-in-law has been attempting to receive compensation for the expenses incurred due to Vacations To Go agent's mistake on the booking of the "13 Day Turkish Treasures" tour which took place between May 2nd and May 14th, 2013 for over four months. The agent's error resulted in the deletion of both my father-in-law's name and his wife's name from the group roster since Day 11 of the 13 Day trip, so they had to fly back home on their own. The extraneous expenses suffered due to the error included the cost of 2 flight tickets from Ankara to Istanbul, taxi fare from Ankara hotel to Ankara airport and the cost of the optional cruise in Istanbul, which they had paid for but was unable to use.
My father-in-law has been trying to resolve this matter with Vacations To Go and Gate1Travel since his return to the United States and despite his persistence, has not been able to find closure to this issue. My father and mother-in-law's frustration and distress from the 13 Day Turkish Treasure trip are immeasurable. In the middle of foreign country they were told that they were no longer with the group so that they had to pack and go back to the United States on their own. In addition to this stress they were also held over for 10 hours in the airport between flights on their way home. They were agitated and exhausted from the trip. Originally, the trip was very meaningful for both of them. The trip for them was a celebration of their 43 years of being married and of my father-in-law's coming retirement.
Vacations To Go acknowledged they had indeed made a terrible mistake and that the final departure date which my parents-in-laws were confirmed for was different from the group roster, but they refused to compensate expenses incurred due to their mistake. After four months later, I contacted the CEO on behalf of my parents-in-laws and they partially refunded the cost of 2 flight tickets from Ankara to Istanbul and taxi fare. However, Vacations To Go and Gate1travel are still refusing to compensate the rest of the expenses included unused optional cruise fare and they are busy handling it off to each other. This has been my family's worst travel experience ever.

In all fairness to Vacations to Go I have waited several months before posting my own personal negative experience in hopes there would be some satisfactory outcome to my situation but surprisingly no, there is no happy ending to my story. My friends shared with me their vacation plans on board an NCL trip departing Copenhagen this summer and invited me to come along. I was so pleased to find the sailing available and at a great price too at Vacations to Go, so I called immediately.
A Vacations to Go Representative handled my call and offered the expected expertise and friendly customer service I've experienced in the past. After the details were settled I booked the trip and was set to go. Then unfortunate events; days prior to the trip I looked over my confirmation details that are electronically signed by the VTG rep and CEO Alan Fox with my departure date and links to the NCL site to deal with details of the trip. I was fortunate to click those links when I did and not some later time, discovering NCL had a different departure date listed than the confirmed date presented by Vacations to Go? Of course I quickly called my Rep; he made calls to NCL and consulted with his manager. He acknowledged he had indeed made a terrible mistake and that the sailing I was confirmed for was sold out and there was nothing he could do, nothing.
Of course this sets off a chain of events in my world from my employer, significant others, airfare and on down the list. Sometime later after sending a letter to CEO Alan Fox, I received a call from a manager who offered a 10% discount on another trip. I consider this an insult really, all the while waiting for the response any first class operation should offer: What can we do to make you happy? That response didn't come and so ends my relationship with Vacations To Go. Adding further frustration after the fact; friends returning from the cruise were informed that there were indeed empty cabins. NCL told my friends the cruise was indeed undersold.
Like a fine hotel, there is an expectation of superior customer service with Vacations to Go. I was let down and will not return. As well intended and friendly the representative was does not make up for the facts here. There are indeed consequences that affect customer's lives with failed customer service. Every detail needs to be buttoned up before confirming a trip.

The building had deep structural damage everywhere, even on the balcony. It was scary to see. Also there is no sound proofing so you could hear every conversation and even sex in the rooms next door. My family and I were trying to get a good price deal to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. We are a total of 6 (4 kids between the ages 2, 4, 15 and 17) and, of course, my husband and I. The first time I called, I was very happy with the quote and information. Very happy with the agent. So I still needed time to do research on prices, hotels, etc. I knew the price was going to change a little bit, but it was okay because I wanted to make sure we spend the money in the right place. We were trying to book for the week of July 11 to the 18th (leaving on my birthday, the 11th). Anyways this past Saturday, after doing research for prices, hotels, transportation, food, etc. and after the price going up a little bit, I still found the deal on Vacations To Go pretty good. I made my phone call and dialed 0 because I forgot the name of the person I was working with. The operator or receptionist was very helpful and gave me my agent's name and her extension (Bernadette, ext **). I left her a message and waited.
Hours passed and I called again and got her voicemail a second time, so I called again and spoke to the operator after dialing 0. I asked her if she was there because I haven't heard from her. She took a few seconds to check and said she was to just leave her a message that she will get back to me. Anyways around 9:30PM Saturday, March 23, 2013, I called again and she finally answered. I explained who I was and gave her all my info. She told me she didn't check her VM all day and that's why she didn't call back. Okay fine, maybe busy. Not a big deal. Anyways, I gave her the number I got on the site with the price. She started to help me when she suddenly said that the flights were up $1,000. The website kept giving me the same price. She then started to check other airlines (Jetblue, etc). The airline that was given to me on the site was Delta.
For some reason, she wasn't getting the same price the site was providing. We were checking every option and every site (me at home and she was doing the same over on her side. Something that I realized I was doing the whole day on my own). After being on the phone for a long time, she told me she has my info. She is going to keep checking and she was going to call me the next day, Sunday and Monday, with prices. That would have been March 24 and 25. Now it's been 10 days and I never got a call or email. Nothing. I ended up booking with CheapCaribbean.com on a different hotel, but I stayed on my budget and my flights are actually leaving from my city and don't have to drive to NYC to catch the flight, which is a big plus!
I'm very disappointed. I feel that whatever she was doing on the other side of the phone was exactly what I was doing all day. Their flights are not guaranteed. It seems they use a second source to purchase the flights and their site is not updated as regular. I can't find any other explanation for what happened to me. And her not even trying to contact me, well that's just bad customer service. It was my first time trying to buy through them and that was my last! Go to a site that gives you the option to buy online and even split payments if you like. You are wasting your time calling them and trying to get in touch with them for their deal because by the time they get back to you, the price definitely is going to change!

Our party booked a trip to Punta Cana last year. There was nine of us that when we booked, we stated we all wanted to be together. After all if you are going with nine other people, should you not be together? The moment we landed in Punta Cana, our group was no longer a group. We were separated with seven going in one group and three in another group. At the hotel, we were separated by two building apart - with the group with seven had first floor pool side rooms. The group with three has third floor swamp views. The room with the swamp view was changed the next day after many complaints to a third floor room almost viewing the pool.
It is my purpose that when you book nine people with the same fast deal number, you should be together on your trip. Vacations To Go cannot handle a group of people. After returning and complaining to the VP of customer service, he did not even give me the pleasure of talking to him. He instead gave my complaint to Mr. Warren, who not only said there was no wrong doing, he acted like the company did not even care. I was told that because one person booked 1 1/2 months after seven of us, there was nothing that could be done. The reason for the fast deal number is? In any event, if you plan a trip with more than one person, go to another company that will give good service - good even in the event of trouble.

The quality of the hotels definitely was not as represented by Vacations to Go and Virgin Atlantic (we booked a 11-day Italy trip through Virgin Atlantic with the tour operator being Vacations to Go). Our room at the Principe Hotel in Venice was like a sauna in November (incredibly uncomfortable, perhaps 90 degrees). When I complained to the hotel staff, they said they were aware of the problem but the "Management" refused to correct the problem (I had stayed at this very same hotel in the mid-1970s and was quite happy with it, but obviously the current management is not the same as when I previously stayed here). Our hotel in Sorrento was definitely sub-par: a small, family-owned hotel, a 15-minute walk outside of town, smack on the main road (the building was perhaps 10 feet back from the road) and I got food poisoning from the fish the hotel served, as did another person on the trip who was also foolish enough to order the hotel's fish dinner.
When I contacted Virgin Atlantic to voice my displeasure with the trip, I was turned over to a secretary who was incredibly insulting to me. She used a denigrating, nasty tone with me, did everything short of calling me a liar and then grudgingly offered to refund to me the cost of the dinner from which I got food poisoning. I would hope that you get what you pay for, but unfortunately, in this case I feel that Virgin Atlantic/Vacations to Go definitely shortchanged us given the cost of the trip/sub-par hotels they put us in (not to mention the food poisoning). This was my first and last trip with Virgin Atlantic/Vacations to Go and I would not recommend them to anyone.

Vacations To Go misrepresents the quality of their properties, does not assist the customer when a problem occurs, and then takes full financial advantage of the vulnerable customer once they are far from home.
Several months ago I booked 9 days at El Tesoro in Ixtapa through Vacations To Go. Because of past experiences, I booked private transport from the airport to the hotel and paid VTG in advance. When we arrived in Ixtapa, our transport was not there and we were repeatedly and aggressively solicited to take taxis. After forty-five minutes, our transport finally appeared.
On arrival at the hotel, we were told that Tesoro does not make reservations, only requests. The Deluxe room with king bed and partial ocean view that I reserved three months ago, was not available. We were to be put in a room behind the elevator and moved the following day. After two hours of insisting that we either have the room we reserved or go to another hotel, Tesoro suggested that they upgrade us to a suite the following day. I was still very concerned because it was becoming clear that there were numerous problems (see below). Dionne, the supervisor at VTG was very haughty and told me that I should be grateful. She refused to send us to another hotel because it was too late in the day (4:30 pm).
The room behind the elevator was worse than a filthy rundown motel. There were fleas hopping on the bathroom floor, urine pooled on the floor on both sides of the toilet, pubic hairs stuck to the bowl, and dead bedbugs between the box-spring and the mattress of the bed, with a view of the back of a building.
My boyfriend insisted on another room. The next room was a deluxe room that was no different. It was equally rundown and filthy but I found no bugs. I attempted to call other hotels, but was unable to get an outside line. I tried to have the Tesoro switchboard place a call for me, but they hung up each time I called. There was no cell service. We had never been to Ixtapa, did not know where to go and felt very much trapped. I emailed my travel agent Chas at VTG and he reiterated that they would not help us.
The VTG website indicated that this All-Inclusive resort had four restaurants and several bars. They were all closed. Guests were eating in one area for breakfast and lunch. The night we were there, they ate the evening meal on tables in the parking lot. We did not eat.
The hotel is expensive enough, but does not have a water filter, so you will get sick if you drink the water. This was not indicated on the VTG website. The hotel provides two small bottles of water in your room when you arrive. After that, you must buy all of your bottled water for $2.00 per small bottle.
A make-shift bar in the lobby (two tables pushed together and holding several taps) provides a few beers and soft drinks. These are included. Bottled beer and soft drinks, mixed drinks and bottled water are all for purchase. Food is included in the settings described above.
We were both scared and disgusted, did not eat, and slept in our clothes on top of the beds, without unpacking our bags.
The following morning, VTG agreed to move us to Melia Azul for an additional $1,000.00, which we paid out of desperation. Melia Azul is a lovely resort, but it caters to Mexican families. This is their prerogative, but we did not know. Few of the staff spoke English and did not understand my Spanish, which admittedly is a bit rusty. Every transaction was difficult and exhausting. The only people who spoke fluent English were the Time Share salesmen who sat at the concierge desk and turned every question into an opportunity to pitch the Time Shares. It was despicable!
I have traveled extensively in Mexico and have never had such a difficult time. We left and came home early. There were a number of problems with the two resorts mentioned, but VTG did not advertise them honestly and took full advantage of our vulnerability once we were in Ixtapa. Save yourself a lot of heartache and money and never use them.

I booked a cruise 6 months ago on SeaDream II in the eastern Caribbean route. I paid in full. Two weeks before departure, I didn't receive documents. I contacted agent, R.L. via email. He had us re-enter our information on the cruise website and got us E Documents.
Six days before departure, my husband got a massive tooth infection. We contacted RL twice via email in the next three days, asking frantically what to do. No response. We finally called the cruise line directly, letting them know we couldn't make the flight, as my husband had been issued a "no fly" by his doctor.
Later that day, a supervisor from VTG contacted us. She has contacted the cruise line, requesting a re-booking, only to be told we were a "no show" at the dock. Apparently, the home office of the cruise line does not communicate with the boats. That is how we've been left. We did pay for this on our American Express card and they have opened an inquiry for us. Hopefully, they will be able to persuade SeaDream to rebook.
I have written to Alan Fox, CEO of VTG, and have not had a response yet. After reading the complaints on this website, I am not hopeful. We have notified them in writing of the chain of events and that we are holding them responsible for the cruise line's refusal to rebook. We will be investigating a filing in Small Claims Courts in Houston, TX in order to recover our funds, if they do not take action to rebook our trip. Never use Vacation to Go to book a trip!

My friend and I booked a cruise of the Black Sea and I was a bit apprehensive about what the quality of the ship would be. Vacations2Go assured me that it was a good ship and that was most assuredly true. We were extremely happy with all aspects of this cruise and have already recommended this company and the cruise line Azamara to friends.

VTG agent booked the SC class cabin; VTG agent and I had a long discussion about the SC cabin and the big deck/corner placement. There was no miscommunication. We were both in agreement that this particular class cabin (SC) was spectacular for enjoying the Alaska scenery and entertaining professional colleagues. I felt lucky that he was able to provide this category cabin and I told him so. No mention was ever made by the VTG agent that I might later be moved/upgraded to SB or SA. I would have remembered that. I had my heart set on the SC and the agent knew it without a doubt. No miscommunication.
A month ago I, confirmed our booking by registering on the HAL website. My boarding pass states:
"CATEGORY: SC""STATEROOM: To Be Assigned"
To me, that means I am guaranteed the SC. But obviously that was not the case after I called VTG today and learned of my "upgrade" and room assignment. I want my original booking of the SC category cabin.
Thank you!

I and two other families booked a Disney trip through vacations to go, specifically Blair ***. I have booked with them for many years. Recently, Disney advertised a 30% off special. On May 11th, Karen **, one of the families that booked with us, called Zande, a minimum of six times to ask if the special would apply to us; Blair's day off was Wednesday. Zandre is Blair's supervisor. She eventually called the 800 number and spoke to a random operator. Karen explained about the discount and the operator told Karen to tell us to call in the morning. I called both Blair and Zandre numerous times, to no avail. Sometime afternoon, I finally spoke to Blair who stated and I quote "I am working with Zandre right now, looks like you will all get refunds."
On Friday, May 13th, Karen ** was informed that she was going to be credited for $939.00. As soon as I heard this, I called to see what my refund would be. Apparently, Blair only put the family in for the refund on Thursday. He never got to put mine or the other families paper in. He submitted it on Friday, May 13th, twenty-four hours after it was submitted.
On Monday, May 16th, I was informed that it was too late for my refund. Zandre informed that the hotel was booked and won't be allowed. I then looked at other travel agents and sites and found that there were indeed rooms available through both Disney and Go Travel.
I informed Zandre and Blair of this and they simply said that this was unfortunate and that Friday was too late. My issue is why did they wait a whole day to submit my request. Why wouldn't he have put in formy refund the exact same time as the other family that go with the refund. I am getting nowhere with vacations to Go and Zandre ** and Blair ** have just become downright rude with an oh well attitude. I had loss on a financial refund.

I have just finished making a European cruise booking with Vacations To Go. Their service was fantastic! Because I am in Australia, contact was by email with several emails crossing the Pacific over 2 days. Honestly, you would think I was their only customer, such was the speed of their replies. I can't say enough good things about them. Great product knowledge and helpful advice. From a very, very happy and satisfied customer.

I purchased a Panama Canal Cruise on Celebrity Cruise Lines though Vacations To Go/Alan Fox Travel in late September on one of their 90-day ticker ads.
About two weeks later, the same cruise dropped their price by $300 for the two of us. I asked if we could get the reduced price or a cabin upgrade or an on-board credit. Brittany told me that since I paid the full fare up front, there was nothing they or the cruise line could do. I know that it is a lie as neither party wants to do anything about it; they could if they wanted to. I also was never given the option of paying a partial payment, so the answer I was given was false.
I advised them that since they were being stubborn and vengeful to me, I will tell the cruise staff, like the waiter, bus boy, cabin steward, Maitre 'D, etc to get their tips from Celebrity Cruise Lines as they took my $300.
Do not use Vacations To Go or Alan Fox or Celebrity Cruise Lines if you care about customer satisfaction.

I booked a cruise with this company Vacations To Go. They never informed me that I was booking a repositioning cruise and that I would be left in Panama, the country of Panama. I asked the travel agent to look for flights for me when booking the cruise leaves Ft Lauderdale, Florida. At no time did she ever tell me that this trip was not a round trip cruise.
I booked a round trip ticket From California to Florida and Florida to California. When I complained, they said that they would listen to the recorded calls. I was grateful because I knew I would be vindicated. To my shock, they played a overdubed poorly; I might add version of the call in which you can clearly make out the portion that they added. Patti ** loudly piping in retiring flight from colon Panama. This was never said during the call.
My friend Shirely ** used this company as well as she is traveling with us. She used a different agent but was shocked by the same realization after receiving her confirmation she never knew that she would be left in Panama. We asked for Vacations To Go to pay for our air back to the States because of their huge oversight then, they tampered with the tapes and behaved poorly. We are still going on this trip because changing it would have been costly and there weren't any decent alternatives. Our flight expense was major and the change charges, etc.
Anyway, I'm sure this happens to a lot of people but simple communication would have solved a lot of problems. I know we all would have been very aware of a cruise that leaves us in Central America, if we were told. We had to pay 1,600 dollars in additional air and $300 in hotel fees, totalling to $1900.00.

I wrote to the agent, his supervisor, and finally to Mr Fox and never received a reply. Goodbye to you, vacations to go. Beware, check all options!

The agent in charge of our three week vacation to Europe allowed us to leave the US without proper reservations for getting from one country to another on two occasions and failed to complete reservations in two hotels in Belgium that we had prepaid through them. Emails, phone calls and faxes of our information fell on deaf ears and we were forced to find our own transportation in order to make our tours on time. No one on their staff even seemed to care that there were four of their customers who had paid nearly $20,000 for this trip were stranded. "Work it out on your own and let us know when you get back" was their answer.
As a result, we had to adjust our travel plans, lose two days in travel and pay top dollar for plane tickets and a euro train costing nearly $2000.00 beyond what we had agreed to pay in advance. The only refund we received was for one of our hotels in Brussels not included in that two grand. Even with travel insurance, they told us it was not their fault or responsibility to be advised. If you book through this company and you have a problem, it will be your problem.

I booked an Alaskan Cruise for 5-21-2010 to 5-28-2010 and Mr ** told me on three different occasions the room I was getting would sleep 3 adults with two beds and a couch that made into a bed. It was on the Royal Caribbean Web Site showing the couch and the two beds. When we got on the ship, it had two beds and a pull down bunk and ladder for the third person which was not what I wanted or paid for. I have sent several e-mails, made phone calls to Mr ** and to Royal Caribbean about this and he said there is nothing he can do.
Royal Caribbean admitted the web site showed the couch and offered me a 10% discount on a future cruise, which will be never. I have not received a return phone call from Mr ** with Vacations To Go even though he said he would be back the next day. I would never use Vacations to go or Royal Caribbean again and would strongly advise anyone to go elsewhere.

Please note that Vacations to Go exercised excellent customer service by later refunding us $6,000 in cash and giving us a $6,000 voucher towards another cruise. We appreciate their response at moving to resolve this, and we need you to now remove my complaint from your website or at least add this comment to it. It is only fair that they now get credit for making full restitution. Thank you.

We booked a cruise for 3 days in June. We were called and told because of the swine flu, cruise would not go Mexico. We were told we could change dates or go to Catalina, but was not able to get but one call back from agent Charles or his boss Nemo. That one time they said they tried to contact us we could not answer the phone right then. We attempted to try to contact Charles * at least 7 to 10 times with no return call. Then we finally got off hold of him, he told us the deadline passed and we would lose our money and can no longer go on a cruise a different time. How convenient to steal one's money. We would have been happy with just re-booking the cruise. This is not our responsibility because of the swine flu issues. This is the cruise's problem and we paid for it by giving away free money to Carnival Cruise. We are hard working honest people who have not had a rest in a long time. We were planning to take more cruises like this if we like it, but I will never trust this company again unless they do what's right and give us the cruise we paid for.

We booked a three-day cruise for May 21-23 with Vacations To Go. This was our very first time to be able to take a cruise. We wanted to see if we would like it and then would plan to take more in the future. We were told three weeks later, after we booked, that we would have to reschedule or go to Catalina cruise because of the swine flu, we could not go to Mexico. We were told by the person we booked it with that we could reschedule the cruise. My friend called and the agent returned the call once. My friend was in a meeting and could not answer the phone, so we did not get to talk to him. After several daily attempts to get a hold of this person, we spoke with someone in and were told we waited too late and could not reschedule the cruise and could only go to Catalina.
At that time, my mother was ill and I would not be able to go to Catalina and we did not want to go on a cruise without going to Mexico. We were told it was too late, we could not reschedule and would not get a refund on our 700.00 dollars. We would have been fine with changing the date and to go another time. This is outrageous that our money was taken from us without any compensation because a service rep from Vacations To Go would not return our call. How convenient. We finally got a hold of someone to talk with us and we are past the deadline to change dates or get the money back.
We are very hardworking people and neither of us has had a vacation for years. We were really looking forward to getting away. This is no justification for not refunding our money or letting us change the date. This is no fault of ours because of the swine flu. The cruise business should be responsible for the loss, not us. Thank you for your time.

We booked an 8-day, $12,000 Silversea Cruise through VTG which departed on 2/21/09 from Buenos Aires to Rio de Janeiro. When we booked the tour, we were not verbally informed nor was it brought to our attention clearly in writing that we needed a Visa/Yellow Fever shots to get into Brazil. Please note that Silversea sent several notices to VTG to remind us that we needed this and none of these notices were forwarded to us. Because of this oversight, we were removed from the ship after only one day.
Please note that on a ship of 296 people, we were the only ones that had not been made clearly aware that this was a requirement. Other passengers on the cruise indicated that they received several reminders from Silversea either directly to them if they booked through Silversea or forwarded from Silversea through their travel agencies. We confirmed directly with Silversea that they had sent reminder notices to VTG and these were not forwarded to us. The only reference from VTG to our need of a Visa/Yellow fever shot was literally buried in the middle of an online document which was highlighted in red AFTER we made our complaint.
There are only 5 countries in the world that require a Visa for entry, we have since discovered. Any reputable travel agency would have clearly, verbally, and in clear writing called this out. We have lost $12,000 for the cruise and also money on airfare, hotel, and ground transportation for this entire trip. We also had to experience the absolute humiliation and nightmare of being dumped in Uruguay and having to find our own way back to Buenos Aires. We have tried to resolve this through VTG and we have received absolutely no consideration. We have talked to Dorothy ** our Travel Agent (800) 338-4962, Dalia ** her supervisor, Christine ** in Customer Service (800) 338-4962 and Sorrell **, Director of Customer Service. We have asked for a full refund of the $12,000 we spent on this cruise and VTG has refused.

Our vacation to Cancun was initially booked with Suzette Walsh. To make a long story short, she could get nothing correct and I asked for a new agent (after being told I couldn't cancel arrangements as the trip was purchased to Fun Jet) Stuart Gillan assured me all was well .... up to 3 days before we left. Upon arriving in Cancun, our room arrangements were incorrect; we had 1 room for 4 people, not the 2 rooms we had requested. Fun Jet agent marched us out to the street to use a pay phone to call Texas (vacations to go) where it was almost impossible to reach the agent or a manager. After much upset and arguing, we finally obtained a 2nd room and stuart agreed to pay for the room as Vacations to Go had erred.
We checked out on Saturday only to find the funds had never been transferred. Stuart was no where to be found; thank goodness for Tran from FunJet who stepped in and had the funs transferred from Houston, Texas to Cancun. Cancun and the RIU Caribe were wonderful; the folks from Vacations to Go have a lot to learn about customer service. Upon my return, I emailed the president and Ceo, Alan Fox. Never rec'd any further contact from the company. Talk about poor customer relations. I will NEVER deal with this company again and will urge all my friends and co-workers to stay away from them.
