I booked a car through booking.com. At arrival front desk assistance denied me the car because I only had a Debit Card instead of Credit Card. I showed him there were 10K in the Debit, explained about a bankruptcy in the past (that's why I didn't have a CC). They didn't care, the car was a of a big need, my mom has cancer and I was supposed to driver her to her appointments, instead I have to Uber everywhere. I will never in my life will use Fox Rent A Car ever again.

I booked a car for $256 for a week in Cancun through Expedia with Fox. It seemed like a good price, but not insanely low. When we arrived at the booth in the airport along with others, our names were taken and then we were all moved in a van out of the terminal to the office where the cars were in a sea of parking. We had to wait an hour to be checked in and quickly discovered why so many people ahead of us were unhappy.

We were told we could not refuse insurance using our credit card as we normally do and that the fee for insurance was $100 a day. If that was too much we could have insurance for $60 a day and a $2000 deductible put on our credit card. We walked away into the night being told the $256 was not refundable. This was a horrid experience. Our rental fee would have gone from $256 to over $1000. Fox is corrupt. I do not have a receipt for the original rental because days later after complaining to Expedia, Fox they said they would not charge me.

I returned the car on time but Fox Rent a Car in San Jose, CA. put my return date as 3 days later and charged me double my original rental agreement. I called their billing department and told them I wasn’t even in the State the day they say I returned it so they gave me credit for 1 day but said it would take 24-48hrs to email the counter and have them check. I told them to just check the video. It will show the correct date and time I returned. I had this conversation with them on 2/13. I’ve called and sent them several emails now but have not heard back. Their customer service is horrible and I don’t know how I’m going to get this corrected.

BOOKING ID ** @ Denver 2/16/22. Going skiing. Booked SUV, Chicago had a blizzard plain delayed 1 hr. Turns out no SUV available, at 7 pm so I was offered sedan or nothing. I still had 4 hr drive to mountains. 7pm on the airport not too many options available on holiday Weekend. Had to squeeze kids and long skies after unpacking bags on the sidewalk. I was told they hold a car 1 hrs and I should call being delays on the plane?! I wasn't only one in line to be denied SUV. In front of me 2 other groups had the same experience being refused SUV. It was all happening, while we are under nice advertisement with Toyota 4 runner saying how one can be upgraded to better experience. Who? Which one? I even didn’t want the upgrade. I just wanted my regular experience with SUV. Shrewdness bothered me. They know upfront they what they going to do, that's why SUV rental is cheap. Probably few get it. And the rest of you have sedan that is overpriced.

They didn’t want to adjust the price because I was downgraded (though offered free tank of gas). This is first time I used other company then Enterprise. Before covid when enterprise didn’t have a car they would give free upgrade. If downgraded would always nicely adjusted a price. Fox has a name for a reason. Expedia refused to help, but send me back to FOX. Maybe one day Fox will meet a Wolf. Some tired pissed off class action lawyer who will review their practices, and come with some round sum to compensated cheated customers. For now all you can do is vote with feet and money. Don’t go to FOX to rent a car, don’t pay FOX for renting. They should be off American car rental market. Very disappointed with Expedia. As a customer I feel cheated, lied, not served and expose to dangerous long drive through Colorado mountains.

Rented a car through T Mobile with Fox. The car I reserved was not ready. Would have to wait one hour to get it. Why wasn’t it there? Who wants to wait an hour on vacation? So I had to upgrade for more money. Not acceptable.

Total rip off. I booked and prepaid via Priceline. Fox subsequently charged me several hundred additional dollars via a multitude of hidden daily fees. Additionally, the woman at the counter told me the toll pass option would cost $12.99 ONE-TIME. They charged me $12.99 EACH day for 10 days. I'm familiar with toll pass options offered by other rental car companies from my previous trips to Miami, FL area. In those other cases there was no deception. I chose a toll pass option that made sense and was a good value. I've been deceived by Fox.

Rented a car from Fox for Orlando for 5 days. Price I was given was $165 when I booked the car. When I went to pick up the car, I was asked if I wanted rental liability insurance, prepaid gas, and toll passes. The only thing I agreed to was the toll passes. They have you sign several tiny screens, which are hard to read and scroll through, agreeing to their terms. They pre-billed my credit card for $303.40. I asked the agent why it was so much, and he said that they hold money on deposit to offset any charges (tolls, fuel, etc.) that you would incur. I would get a refund for the balance. When I got the car, the battery in the key fob was dead, and would not open the car doors / trunk. I went back and got a new key fob for another car, but in doing so, I had to again sign / initial several tiny screens, but this time, there was no text displayed as far as what I was agreeing to. The agent said that it was the same as I did for the other car.

When I returned the car, I found that they had charged me $66 for liability insurance, even though I declined to purchase that because my own insurance company provides liability. They also charged me $64.95 for tollway tolls, even though we used a fraction of that amount for the traveling we did. When I called and complained, they said that I signed and agreed to pay those amounts on the contract. I will NEVER use Fox rental car again. I think they are unscrupulous and deceiving. BTW...their cars are not the newest....our car had 71,000 miles on it and was well worn.

The cost of a rental car from Fox is double the initial estimate when all the hidden fees are added up at the end of the rental period. I was incredibly disappointed when what was supposed to be a good deal ended up being one of the more expensive options for a very mediocre product.

My family and I traveled to Orlando, booked a vehicle at Fox for USD215 and when we arrived at the office, my credit card was being charged USD600 for insurance that they said was mandatory. When I arrived at the hotel, I contacted customer service of this company and they told me that the insurance was voluntary and that I had to go back to the office where I had picked up the vehicle and they would change the contract. This shows that the values they offer are to hook and then force, not having knowledge, to include insurance and others that most likely will not be used. I still paid USD 400 considering tolls that I did not even use.

Was given a beater w/ 80k miles that had dents, dings and a trashed interior. I returned the car at 1:10pm (due 12-2) and the lot guy said I was good to go but he was too busy to check me in. When I got my receipt by email later that day they tacked on a $20+ late fee and noted a 3pm return. This is a scam company. Do not use them for any reason. I have a video of the entire transaction.

Booked a rental in Burbank through Expedia, paid for it, was told 148 would be due at pickup. Finally found the little booth they were in and got help after standing there for 10 minutes with no one in front of me. This was a business trip. They had me give them a credit card other than the one I used online, charged me 60 dollars for being 45 minutes early. gave me a sedan Instead of an SUV like I reserved. They charged me $320 dollars on top of the 184 dollars I paid through Expedia. Bunch of other charges I didn't know what they were. Classic bait and switch. HORRIBLE customer service, will not reply to emails or messages. AVOID THIS SCAM COMPANY.

Got the typical bait & switch. Had even called to confirm a Hyundai Santa Fe was available as wanted to test drive this model after getting it last year from FOX in Ft Lauderdale and was happy with it. But was offered only a Dodge Journey which is NOT EQUIVALENT as these vehicles don't have the necessary leg room as does the Santa Fe...why even classify as same? So the typical response was "we can upgrade you"...OF COURSE...IT'LL COST YOU!!! WHY???? I was promised it and why I PREPAID!!!! WHAT a typical SCAM!!! The vehicle I was given was NOT AN UPGRADE....it was the typical Jap tin can!!...a sub-standard Toyota 4Runner...no featured equipment features like the normal Hyundai Santa Fe and drove and handled TERRIBLE!!! It even was reporting tire issues CONSTANTLY...but all tires fine...didn't even have way to test tire inflation pressure like most GMCs have...again substandard.

Why if FOX didn't have the promised vehicle...upgrade at THEIR EXPENSE? And if I pay almost double the daily rate I was promised...TRULY upgrade to a vehicle with same features as promised...not these sub-standard Toyotas, but at least a GMC equivalent? It'll be my last rental from FOX!! I had to put up with this crap vehicle for 3weeks!! FOX knew I was coming nearly 3 months ahead and prepaid as well...I would had expected FOX to ensure that the vehicle promised WAS AVAILABLE and reserved...especially having been a repeat /returning customer.

Oh and by-the-way...STOP encouraging buying the toll road SunPass @ $10 a day...the desk clerk said oh you'll need it!!...BS!!! Drove nearly 1000 miles and NEVER NEEDED IT. Went to Ft Lauderdale, New Smyrna Beach, St Augustine and back through Orlando without it!! What another SCAM avoided!! I would think FOX would be able to stand up to your promises and if not eat the cost at their expense to keep your customer satisfaction level up.

Prices sounded great when I booked it. When picking the car up at LAX Airport, it was a Kia sedan. It had 70,000+ miles, a rattling, constantly vibrating steering wheel, windshield wipers that smeared the rain around, completely shot, no floor mats and carpet worn through from people's feet. Horrible. In addition, they whacked me with a $12+ tax/day (8 days) for a flimsy booster seat for my toddler.

Then, while driving my daughter to the San Diego Zoo down the Pacific Coast Highway, there was a car accident and I had to detour to a toll road. Long story short, there were no cash lanes open, I did not purchase Fox's toll tag, there was an 800# to call for tolls if cash lane was closed and you didn’t have a tag. I called to try to settle up and was told that I couldn’t, since it was a rental car. Fox charged me $9/toll (x2) and a $15 admin fee for each toll, for a total of $48. After the crappy car, the cheap booster seat, worn out wipers and a complete money grab for tolls, this was not a good deal at all. Please avoid this company unless you want to be nickel and dimed after the rental and enjoy driving a junker.

Dec 1 rented a car at SJC. Waited over an hour, with several other customers, to receive a car. Was told the delay was due to shift change!. Drove car 2 hours, by myself, and when I arrived at my destination, could not open the passenger side door from either outside or inside. Was too far away to try and return. When I did return, early AM, no personnel was available. Called FOX customer service and was told I needed to report issue. My response was FOX should have provided me with a vehicle that was operable and clean. FOX could not have cleaned the front passenger side as the door could not open. I submitted 2 complaints back to FOX and have not received a reply. Also, was only refunded 50% of my $150 deposit, with no explanation as to why. DO N0T RENT FROM FOX. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND VEHICLES.

Since my flight was late, they gave my car to someone else and made me upgrade to a more expensive one. As soon as the flight got delayed I called them and they promised to keep my car till my flight arrives. But they gave it to someone else. On top of what I paid through Expedia, they changed me for another whole rental. When I contact customer service, they didn't help at all. Go with a legitimate car rental company. These people are horrible.

We rented a Dodge Charger with Fox via Expedia. $339 dollars for the period. We paid $40 insurance in advance to protect the car on the trip. Arriving at pick up time, we had to pick up the car at 10:00 am, we arrived at 10:10 am the car, they took a while to serve us and we picked up the car at 10:30 am, they charged a late pick up fee. Do you believe? They also included so much stuff, and they said they couldn't remove it, because it was mandatory. When it's time to return the car, we return it an hour earlier, guess what? Early delivery fee!!! **? Then when it came time to get the final bill, our total rent of $339 became $573. There were so many fees, acronyms that you have no idea what they are, airport fees...which in the end was almost double. Thank God we left the car spotless, otherwise, it wouldn't have been a big fight! I was very disappointed with this rental and the lesson is to research the company in depth before renting! Run away, my friend!

Reserved a standard SUV and was told I would have to upgrade to get a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Was told that the rental site has no way of selecting a 4-wheel vehicle and so felt a bit swindled. Other companies I have rented similar cars from in SLC and DEN have always been 4-wheel drive vehicles and I haven't had to find that I needed an upgrade once I got to the counter. Was also told if I purchased a tank of gas at the "cheaper" rate of $3 it would cost $73. Given that the car had a 15 gal tank, I did the math and declined the obvious ripoff. At highway speeds of 60-70 mph the steering wheel vibrated and apparently the car was in need an alignment.

This company will befriend you at the counter and make everything sound so cheap and then when they charge you at the end - BAM! You will be hit with a massive bill and when you call them, they will tell you that you signed agreements, no care that they lied to your face, or were misleading at the counter. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. Customer service is in another country and they do not care.

I prepaid for a car rental with Fox and purchased their cancellation insurance. I got sick and had to cancel flights, car and hotel. I called with only 12 hours notice. I did not read the fine print. Fox requires 24 hour notice WITH cancellation insurance. Do they keep all your money if you don’t have insurance?? Trying to cancel online was not a simple task, I believe they deliberately make it difficult. I was charged $104 for cancelling. It took three long phone calls to Fox and 11 days for my refund. BEWARE and read the fine print.

I rented a car from Fox. I've rented cars 100's of times and know there is a surcharge for having the company refill the tank when you return it. My daughter was driving when we reached the return facility and we realized we didn't get gas. I asked her how much gas was in the tank. She said half full. I figured even if they charge us $2 extra per gallon, for 10 gallons maximum the would be $20 bucks. So we returned the car. Fox charged me $8.99 a gallon for 18 gallons of gas. Gas is $3.50 a gallon retail. Fox applied a %260 surcharge, and stole at least 8 gallons. Don't rent from Fox.

I had a terrible experience renting from Fox, also referred to as Europcar. The information in my reservation said a shuttle would be available to and from the Orlando, FL airport from and to the car park; however, when we arrived to return the car, the rental office and lot were closed and we had to leave the car parked literally outside on the street, leave the keys with a security guard and hire our own transportation to the airport. This all caused a delay, terrible stress as well as an extra expenditure. Several other customers found themselves in the same difficulty. It was all very upsetting.

Apart from that, the agent who attended us when we got the car was very dishonest. I stated I did not want any extra coverage and only wanted what I had already paid for, she said there was nothing extra and had me sign on a screen the agreement. Upon receiving my receipt, it turns out I was charged for extras that were not clearly stated as extras. She also insisted that I return the car without fuel. My reservation said the fuel policy was “like for like”, so I asked about that and why she was telling me to bring return it without refueling. Twice she answered and insisted that I return the car without fuel because it would be cheaper for me that way. This was also a lie. I was charged about 3 to 4 times more than what the gas would have cost if I had refueled myself.

This is a very deceiving and unprofessional practice on the part of the rental agency. The cost of the rental may appear to be cheaper than in other agencies, but in the end it turns out more expensive with the “sneaky” extras and it’s not worth it if you’re left stranded without a way of getting to the airport. Go for the more known and reliable companies.

I needed to rent a car for my vacation. Expedia booked me a car through Fox Rent-A-Car. After I paid I looked at the reviews and they were terrible so, I was nervous. I wanted to get a refund and go through another company but, Expedia told me I couldn’t get a refund. When I went to pick up the car, I was told you couldn’t go out of state. I do not recommend fox Rent-A-Car. The car that I rented was nice. If you want to go out of state, do not use Fox rent a car. Overall, my experience was good.

I rented a vehicle through Fox Rent a car and Priceline. It was for two weeks with unlimited mileage. An attempted phone call to Fox Rent A Car to confirm the reservation was answered by machine and would only refer me to their website. The day of pick up I find out the unlimited mileage can only be used in the surrounding states and that I can not go from Texas to Georgia. I was denied a refund for the rental they would not let me go to Georgia in.

We were planning a trip to Orlando from NY. My wife and I get discounts through our jobs so we used Fox to rent a car. We had the reservation done over a week prior to our flight. The amount we agreed on was $174 and some change. Our flight was delayed 3 hours so I read over our rental agreement we printed and it said we could pick up our rental 24/7. We landed in Orlando and quickly realized fox was not located at the airport which was unfortunate but they offered a shuttle to their location. We waited awhile for the shuttle which took us a few miles from the airport.

When we arrived at Fox in Orlando we had all of our paperwork ready and showed the guy. Two seconds later he tells us they canceled our reservation because we didn’t pick it up by 6pm. It was a little after 6:30 and nowhere on our paperwork does it state we had to pick our rental up within a time limit. We explained all of this to him and he acted like he didn’t care. He told us it was going to be $105-140 per day before other taxes and fees which would’ve put us around $700-800 for the 5 day rental. I asked him how that makes any sense considering we were quoted $175 for 5 days and now all of the sudden it’s practically $175 each day, he claimed the prices changed because it’s almost the holiday season. Never offered us any kind of discount knowing we had an agreement in our hand. There was literally a week's difference in us making this reservation.

So now we’re stuck in an unknown location with no transportation and no way back to the airport to talk to other rental companies. I got on my phone looking for large SUV rentals and the companies I knew of were all booked because of the large organization. So we felt completely stuck. The guy that was no help came out on his cell phone saying there’s a place he knows around the corner and the guy would come pick us up. Said he would give us an suv with 3rd row seating for $450 for the 5 days. It seemed like our only option so we agreed. A few minutes later a man shows up and grabs us takes us another few miles away. Once again the $450 was before taxes it ended up being $524 and a $200 deposit.

After speaking to other parents that flew in for this organization every single one that chose fox had similar problems. They had quotes much cheaper and when they arrived they were charged more than double that amount. I decided to look at more reviews for Fox and quickly realized they do this often. And their vehicles are apparently very dirty and not taken care of. On their website it shows they have vehicles from as low as $35 a day. I truly believe they were trying to take advantage of us. So maybe we dodged a bullet but when planning a trip and trying to budget things it’s a horrible feeling when the company you sign an agreement with takes advantage of you after screwing you over and making you feel vulnerable. I will absolutely never do business with Fox again and I highly suggest anyone that wants to enjoy their trip to do the same.

Upon arrival at Fort Lauderdale Airport Fox Rent A Car location, the representative refused the driver’s permit that I presented, cancelled pre-paid reservation I had made through Expedia, and was told to have Expedia make a request, which Fox has refused, to be reimbursed any of the $365.01 CDN advance payment. After cancelling, the Fox representative told me that they were experiencing a shortage of vehicles, but would try to make a reservation in my wife’s name. Fox offered a vehicle for +/- $850.00 US. We walked. Once bitten twice shy.

We were quoted $509.10 for a 4 day rental. We called on the way to return the car to ask if there would be a charge to return 2 hours early. We were assured there would be NO fee to return it early on the date it was due. When we looked at the bill it showed a $93.04 early return fee. They are liars. I'll never rent from them again.

I rented a car from Fox at Los Angeles International Airport on November 20, 2022. Upon arrival, I walked to the highlighted Purple Car Rental Pick-up area where I waited an hour and fifteen minutes for a ride to the pick-up Fox Office. I told the driver that me and another passenger had been awaiting his arrival. He was disrespectful and flippant. He simply chuckled and said, "You know traffic"! He made multiple stops along the way in the dirty van with dilapidated seats. The blue seats were so worn they had turned blue-gray with a hint of blue. Very disgusting.

The office held long lines and was equally dilapidated. The employees seemed overworked and a bit disheveled. Not a good look for a supposed professional company. Upon arrival to the car pick-up location, cars were lined up but there were no full-sized cars available, thereby requiring an additional wait of twenty minutes for the car to arrive for rental. My plane arrived at 9:30 p.m. by the time I received my rental car it was midnight. No one reviewed the car's condition but left it to me as a consumer to indicate damages on an 8 1/2 x11 inch sheet of paper with images of cars. This was also confusing.

The car was dirty on arrival. I was told the machine was broken thus cars were hand-washed and vacuumed. The car arrived wet with splashes of soap. I could not discern whether it was actually soap on the car or the car was damaged. Additionally, the garage where cars were picked up is not well-lighted, consequently, it was difficult, at best to discern the condition of the interior or exterior of the rental car.

In summary: Do not rent from Fox. It is evident they are only interested in making money. The cars are dirty and in poor condition. My car required alignment. The transport van and office is filthy. The line to retrieve vehicles was too long. The wait for the van was over an hour. I stood and watched multiple clean and spacious pick-up vans pass by. Please do pay the additional cost to rent from a company that cares. It is apparent Fox does not have respect for clients as evidenced by the numerous one-star ratings. They really deserve 0 stars but there is no room for this when selecting stars.

Upon rental I did an advance payment and received a vehicle with no spare tire. The warning light went on when leaving. By the time I got to the hotel the tire was almost flat. They couldn't fix the vehicle for two days so I told them take it back. They took the car and wouldn't refund my money. Be very careful. Not a legit run company. Criminals.

I rented from Fox in Tampa through Orbitz. I paid the extra for the damage waiver. A rock thrown up by 18 wheeler cracked windshield. Insurance company paid the damage. FOX is charging me $150 in administration fees. They also charged $45 in fees for a $7.50 toll charged. The fees are outrageous not to mention the bad customer service. Plus, I had to wait an hour for my car. NEVER rent from these people. Rip off company.

I got scammed. I was supposed to pay $1,265.77 when I checked-in. Then when I returned the car I received an email showing a $3,326.72 bill. I went to the cashier at the front desk to ask some explanation. He told me that was nothing to worry about. I checked out my credit card activity the day after and I had 2 charges: $1,765.77 and $1,560.95. So I got charged $3,326.72 for no reason. Of course I called the number on my contract but no one answer. I am very not happy!
