Worst customer service I have ever received. Was given the wrong type of vehicle after being lied to for an hour while they tried to find car. Car was filthy and scratched and dented. Requested a call back 4 times and now am on number 5. Never ever rent from this company.

Rented 2 Premium SUVs Expeditions or equivalent in Las Vegas for 6 days. Paid Priceline in advance. Got to Fox to pick up the vehicles. The lady said they don't have large SUV's. They offered Toyota 4Runners. We have 4 men, 4 luggage and 4 golf club travel bags per vehicle. They would not do anything to make it right. They gave us two minivans, but charged us another $700+ per vehicle. Both vans looked like hell. Absolutely the worst service I have ever encountered.

After paying Expedia for rental, Fox charged me for hidden charges which led to me paying Fox almost as much as Expedia! Hidden costs were ridiculous. Concession fee, and three additional "recovery fees". Every customer service agent told me something different. They told me they would take the additional hold charge off my credit card, then refused it with my cc company!

The staff member Manny was being overzealous trying to find problems where there was none. He accused me of damaging the windshield but when I spoke to the manager Tris he was unable to give me any information. I had to wait for 3 Days to speak to a representative only to find out there was no damage. I was already under a lot of stress because that vacation was anything but Pleasant only to return a car and have to deal with other situations that I should not have had to deal with. I contacted Katie and customer service who was finally able to shed some light on this after a 3-day wait again no extra charges were given just a lot of extra aggravation. They need to work on their staff and their employees and the way that they deal with customers.

Please read this in full. We were at Pheonix AR Airport. What happened to us by Europcar/Fox Rental car was so wrong. We were scammed. Stop sending people to Europcar/Fox Rental Car. Twice before our trip I called Europcar and was told we had to have our car picked up by 12:30PM. Our flight was late and we didn't get to Europcar until around 12:50. We were stressed and so grateful the employee waited for us. The employee said, "We are going to upgrade your car for you." We said no we want fuel economy. He insisted they were upgrading our car and no worries, they would take care of us. No additional charge. We were charged for the upgrade. The employee had me initial here and there as he scrolled to the spots I had to initial and sign on the small electronic signature pad. I thought he was being nice and I was signing to get the car. Little did I know he had me signing for extras over $800.
We did agree to the prepaid fuel charge and for both my husband and myself to drive the car, but nothing else. We were totally taken advantage of and scammed. After this I did research on Europcar/Fox rental car and found this is common for them to do this to people. They continue to rip people off, scam them, lie, and basically steal and no one will stop them or shut them down.

On 4/3/26, I arrived at Fox to pick up a standard SUV that I reserved for rent. I was told that what I reserved was not available. The attendant stated that I would be able to rent another vehicle for no extra charge due to the vehicle I reserved not being available as promised. I received a credit card statement and receipt stating that I was charged an additional $224 as an upgrade. This was clearly not part of the agreement. I called their billing department only to get a response from the agent stating that there is nothing she could do to rectify the situation and that there was nothing one else that I could speak. This deceptive practice is bait and switch with no expectation that the customer will hold them accountable. Contacted the BBB.

Beware!!! Deserves no stars. Rented thru fox to travel from Miami to Key West. Was told the tolls would be added to the card for convenience, we agreed not knowing the roads and tolls ahead. Found out there was only 1 toll on the way to key west, about $5.00. They charged US $14.49 per day for 5 days, for PlatePass. Not as it was explained to US. Called plate pass, they have no record of payment to them. They will investigate. Fox keeps all the money. What a scam!!! Don't rent from them.

100% Do NOT Rent/Reserve a Car Here. Dealing with this company was the worst experience I have had in over 30 years of traveling. That was before I even got into a vehicle. They charge FULL price if you have to cancel due to an emergency (in my case medical). Requested a letter from a doctor confirming the date and details of the emergency. I provided a letter confirming the date, details not included (HIPPA violation) 3 times, explained the refund was needed to cover medication and they refused to give even a partial refund.

We rented a car through Expedia and the provider was Fox. We were very unhappy with the agent at the Phoenix airport, felt like she was rushing us, we ended up purchasing vehicle protection which we had already purchased through Expedia ( tried explaining to agent). There were so many extra charges we were not aware of. Travelling from Canada, the conversion from US dollars made it ridiculously expensive. The car’s sensors repeatedly didn’t work for some of the features. Our security deposit and fuel compensation was not refunded until we contacted customer service. We would never rent through this company again.

I rented a car in Seattle airport. 8 days for just under $400, with all the taxes $49 per day. I needed to extend for 9 days--charged $112 per day!!! Not clearly informed at the time of extension. Quote indicated a slight bit more than $49 per day. Calls-would not refund any charges or reduce cost!! NEVER AGAIN!

Fox Rental is the worst car rental place I have ever dealt with. I had rented the car 3 weeks in advance. When I got to the Fox rental place in Las Vegas got to the counter and had to pay additional fees of $175.00 they said for insurance and another $137.00 for the rental. Which I had already paid for thru Price Line at $157.00. The guy at the desk said the rental fee would be returned. Now it’s 6 weeks later and no refund to my Credit Card and 20 plus emails to the Fox district manager about my refund. DO NOT USE FOX RENTAL EVER!!!! Very poor customer service and now I am going to turn this fee into my credit card company as a fraud charge.

We arrived in Denver and it had recently snowed. The person behind the desk recommended we upgrade to an AWD vehicle. Well initially he quoted us $450 EXTRA on the original $350 rental fee for the upgrade. When we said there's no way we're paying more than double for an AWD, he started asked if we were Costco members, and that he could do a small discount - he didn't even ask to see the Costco card, so this basically tells me that he's just making up prices as he goes.
Anyway, the rental was fine, the car was pretty good, but then we received a toll bill in the mail. Now, he did not mention anything about charges for tolls. There were $23.30 in toll charges; no big deal, but here's the kicker - $120 in admin fees. So now basically we've ended up paying ~$800 for what started as a $350 rental. My recommendation: just use a reputable rental agency - you'll end up paying the same or less for a much better experience. We will never use Fox again, and neither should you!

Lots of charges!! Firstly they would not waive the under 25 fee even though I turn 25 in a month, it just comes up "in the system". Second, they basically force you to pay for the Sun Pass every day. In FL if you don't have one and you go through the toll it's about $5-8, but Fox will charge you $90 plus $15 each additional time you go through a toll unless you buy the pass for each day, ridiculous. Then, they add all these tiny little fees for random things, the worker didn't even know what they were for and couldn't explain them to me. I asked what is this and he said, "I don't know it's in the system, I don't add that." HUH?
The car itself was also kind of dirty, not bad but found old food in between seats. Car drove well. Overall, not good customer service and horrible extra fees. I also got a manager special, and he only gave me the small car, I asked if since it was just a mystery car if I could get a bigger car (which I saw a bunch just sitting in the lot) and he said that would be an upcharge, even for the newer model of the car he gave me was going to be an upcharge.

I got a Fox rental as part of a prepaid Expedia package deal. After my flights and two shuttles to get to Fox Rent a Car in Vegas, after I told them I was on a budget and could not pay for any upgrades - they did not clearly inform me of the extra charges - 11 extra charges!! 3 days later, after I dropped off the car in the early morning to catch my flight, they emailed me a receipt for $449. Ugh. And clearly they charged me $49/day for the car rental itself, as if the Expedia package was meaningless.

They asked for my card 150.00 that it was strange paid for the car. But they said it would refund the 150.00. To come find they charge my card for full rental that I paid for. Once you sign, you’re on the hook, it already charged to your card. You can dispute, but Customer Service Rep reminded me that I did sign it. Lesson learned….do not let them rush you, read before signing, the cost of the fees was more than Double the cost of the actual car rental‼️Crappy service, crappy cars, crappy rental company, but above all else they’re ‼️BLATANT DISHONEST SCAMMERS‼️

I had a very frustrating and misleading experience renting a car in Denver. At the counter, I was told that due to the “Colorado traction law,” I would need to upgrade my vehicle to comply with state requirements. This was presented in a way that made it sound mandatory and non-negotiable, as if I would be breaking the law without upgrading. However, this was completely misleading.
My travel route was simply from Denver International Airport to Cañon City—primarily along I-25 and US-50. These are not mountain pass roads, and the Colorado traction law does not automatically apply to this route. The law is typically enforced on specific high-elevation corridors (like parts of I-70) and only during certain weather conditions. None of that applied to my trip.
At no point was this explained clearly. Instead, the situation felt like a pressure tactic designed to upsell a more expensive vehicle under the guise of legal necessity. As a traveler unfamiliar with local laws, I relied on the information provided by the rental agent—and that information was inaccurate. Rental companies have a responsibility to provide honest, transparent guidance. Explaining that certain vehicles may be beneficial for mountain driving is reasonable. Telling customers they are required by law to upgrade—when that is not true for their route—is not.
This experience left me feeling taken advantage of and distrustful of the company’s practices. I would strongly caution other travelers to research the Colorado traction law themselves and not rely solely on what is said at the rental counter. Overall, this felt less like customer service and more like a misleading sales tactic. I expected better transparency and integrity.

This is an insurance selling company while renting cars. In Las Vegas, the counter staff is obviously incentivized to sell liability insurance. I was told I had to select from one of 3 levels of insurance. "Declining" was not listed as an option and it is unclear if "declining" is an option unlike mainline rental companies like National. My minimum coverage turned out to cost me $100 more than the actual rental. I could have rented from National for a total cost less than Fox as my personal car insurance covers me when using a rental. Protesting upon check in placed me in a "not my responsibility" loop inside corporate and local Fox. They are seasoned professional scammers. My suggestion is demand "Decline" and walk away if the sales pressure begins.

I purchased a Vegas rental through Expedia travel site and included car insurance. After that realized, you have to shuttle to transportation center and wait for another shuttle to Fox off site. Got there and agent told me I had to purchase insurance even though I had purchased it and have personal auto insurance. Wouldn't accept that. Wanted 35-40 per day!! Told him to stop scamming us and walked out and called an Uber to take us to our hotel. Expedia did refund me both fees. Never again with Fox!!!

Let me start by saying I have rented several vehicles from Fox over the years, whenever I visit California. On my latest trip, I was given a Dodge Hornet. I rented it for 3 weeks, only driving it twice. (Needed it ICofE for work.) First time from Ontario, CA to Tapanga Mall, near LA. Car ran great. The next week, I was driving 2.5 hrs to Ontario airport. As I drove, at 2:30am, alone...the dashboard started flashing all different lights.
While I was driving, I called Fox to ask them what I should do with the flashing lights. The gentleman asked me, what did I see? And I told him, I also asked if it was safe for me to continue driving this car or if I should pull over somewhere and they could bring me another car or what avenue should I take at this time? They assured me that the car was safe. There was nothing wrong. It just needed to be "reset" when I returned it. Again, I said, "Are you sure because it's acting very strange?" They said, yes, we have to reset something when I return it and it was fine to continue driving.
Approximately twenty minutes later, the car bogged down in the front sounded like two pieces of metal scraped. Underneath the hood and I pulled to the side of the road, smoke started coming out from underneath the car and eventually the car was engulfed in flames. I was terrified as I called Fox back to inform them that their car was on fire. The lady just told me to hang up and call 911. I am a 65-year-old woman driving on a dark desert highway by myself in a state that I'm not from. I don't know where I'm at.
But apparently a truck driver or someone called 911, and told them the situation. When I called Fox back, I got no response to what happened, they didn't offer me a refund... They didn't offer me any kind of compensation,...not even to pay for the Uber. I had to take to the airport. I will never run a car from this company again as I found out later that that car was under recall for possible fire in the engine. Currently talking to a lawyer to see what leg I have to stand on. If I can add pictures to this, I will. Of course, it won't allow photos. If you'd like to see them...email me at **.

I strongly advise against using FOX Rental Agency. I explicitly declined all insurance and roadside assistance when I rented the vehicle, and the agent had me sign a form confirming my decision. I also paid a $350 deposit. After returning the car with a full tank of gas and no damage, I was shocked to receive an invoice two days later for $200 in insurance and roadside assistance charges, leaving me with only $150 refunded. Although the agent assured me that I was signing to decline the services. The billing department insisted that I had agreed to the charges when I signed the contract. I never received a hard copy of the contract, and while I regret not requesting one, this experience has left me feeling misled and frustrated. I have never encountered such dishonest business practices, and I will never rent from them again. I highly recommend others avoid this company as well.

I have to agree with the multiple previous reviews. Fox Rental Car charged me more than I agreed to pay on my reservation. I asked both the representative behind the desk and representative in the garage who gave me the keys if the price remained the same as on my reservation. Both representatives confirmed Yes. They demand your signature on a little screen about 4x4 inches in size so you can't read it properly.
There was nobody there when I returned the car. Therefore I could not get checked out or get a receipt. I only discovered the increased price when I reviewed my credit card charges. I called their helpline but that representative was also unhelpful. Consumer Affairs is correct in stating that Fox Rental Car may offer low prices but they make it up on the back end by charging what they want. It's a classic bait and switch. I fly for business every month and will not be utilizing Fox again until they remedy the problem.

Never had a poor rental car experience in all our years of travel before Fox. If it were not for the friendly shuttle drivers it would be a zero rating. In Ontario CA it is NOT located at the airport, two shuttles later we were pressured into purchasing insurance that we had already purchased through Expedia in a package. Car was sketchy, ran and shifted very rough, large tear in the fabric of the door, no mats, good thing we barely drove it. Saving a few bucks costs us.. Was contacted for a review by the local manager, she was going to look into our concern. No reply. Avoid the frustration!!!
