I will never use Fox rental again. Booked with hopper paid online. When we got there they charged me double. We did add a driver but that shouldn't have cost us another 475.00. They tacked on all kinds of fees. Absolutely ridiculous!

This is an insurance selling company while renting cars. In Las Vegas, the counter staff is obviously incentivized to sell liability insurance. I was told I had to select from one of 3 levels of insurance. "Declining" was not listed as an option and it is unclear if "declining" is an option unlike mainline rental companies like National. My minimum coverage turned out to cost me $100 more than the actual rental. I could have rented from National for a total cost less than Fox as my personal car insurance covers me when using a rental. Protesting upon check in placed me in a "not my responsibility" loop inside corporate and local Fox. They are seasoned professional scammers. My suggestion is demand "Decline" and walk away if the sales pressure begins.

I purchased a Vegas rental through Expedia travel site and included car insurance. After that realized, you have to shuttle to transportation center and wait for another shuttle to Fox off site. Got there and agent told me I had to purchase insurance even though I had purchased it and have personal auto insurance. Wouldn't accept that. Wanted 35-40 per day!! Told him to stop scamming us and walked out and called an Uber to take us to our hotel. Expedia did refund me both fees. Never again with Fox!!!

Let me start by saying I have rented several vehicles from Fox over the years, whenever I visit California. On my latest trip, I was given a Dodge Hornet. I rented it for 3 weeks, only driving it twice. (Needed it ICofE for work.) First time from Ontario, CA to Tapanga Mall, near LA. Car ran great. The next week, I was driving 2.5 hrs to Ontario airport. As I drove, at 2:30am, alone...the dashboard started flashing all different lights.

While I was driving, I called Fox to ask them what I should do with the flashing lights. The gentleman asked me, what did I see? And I told him, I also asked if it was safe for me to continue driving this car or if I should pull over somewhere and they could bring me another car or what avenue should I take at this time? They assured me that the car was safe. There was nothing wrong. It just needed to be "reset" when I returned it. Again, I said, "Are you sure because it's acting very strange?" They said, yes, we have to reset something when I return it and it was fine to continue driving.

Approximately twenty minutes later, the car bogged down in the front sounded like two pieces of metal scraped. Underneath the hood and I pulled to the side of the road, smoke started coming out from underneath the car and eventually the car was engulfed in flames. I was terrified as I called Fox back to inform them that their car was on fire. The lady just told me to hang up and call 911. I am a 65-year-old woman driving on a dark desert highway by myself in a state that I'm not from. I don't know where I'm at.

But apparently a truck driver or someone called 911, and told them the situation. When I called Fox back, I got no response to what happened, they didn't offer me a refund... They didn't offer me any kind of compensation,...not even to pay for the Uber. I had to take to the airport. I will never run a car from this company again as I found out later that that car was under recall for possible fire in the engine. Currently talking to a lawyer to see what leg I have to stand on. If I can add pictures to this, I will. Of course, it won't allow photos. If you'd like to see them...email me at **.

I strongly advise against using FOX Rental Agency. I explicitly declined all insurance and roadside assistance when I rented the vehicle, and the agent had me sign a form confirming my decision. I also paid a $350 deposit. After returning the car with a full tank of gas and no damage, I was shocked to receive an invoice two days later for $200 in insurance and roadside assistance charges, leaving me with only $150 refunded. Although the agent assured me that I was signing to decline the services. The billing department insisted that I had agreed to the charges when I signed the contract. I never received a hard copy of the contract, and while I regret not requesting one, this experience has left me feeling misled and frustrated. I have never encountered such dishonest business practices, and I will never rent from them again. I highly recommend others avoid this company as well.

I have to agree with the multiple previous reviews. Fox Rental Car charged me more than I agreed to pay on my reservation. I asked both the representative behind the desk and representative in the garage who gave me the keys if the price remained the same as on my reservation. Both representatives confirmed Yes. They demand your signature on a little screen about 4x4 inches in size so you can't read it properly.

There was nobody there when I returned the car. Therefore I could not get checked out or get a receipt. I only discovered the increased price when I reviewed my credit card charges. I called their helpline but that representative was also unhelpful. Consumer Affairs is correct in stating that Fox Rental Car may offer low prices but they make it up on the back end by charging what they want. It's a classic bait and switch. I fly for business every month and will not be utilizing Fox again until they remedy the problem.

Never had a poor rental car experience in all our years of travel before Fox. If it were not for the friendly shuttle drivers it would be a zero rating. In Ontario CA it is NOT located at the airport, two shuttles later we were pressured into purchasing insurance that we had already purchased through Expedia in a package. Car was sketchy, ran and shifted very rough, large tear in the fabric of the door, no mats, good thing we barely drove it. Saving a few bucks costs us.. Was contacted for a review by the local manager, she was going to look into our concern. No reply. Avoid the frustration!!!

I got into an accident on my first day of rental. I followed up with my car insurance and Fox to learn my next steps. Fox gave me conflicting information. On-call representatives asked me to bring my car to a designated lot, not the location where I picked up the car. I order a tow and the tow company shares that the LOT WAS LOCKED AND CLOSED. Tow company has no choice but to stow the car and TOW AGAIN the next day. I had to call Fox repeatedly to confirm the lot would be open.

On the day of the accident, I also confirmed with my car insurance that I would only be responsible for the deductible. Months later, I received a letter saying I owe thousands of dollars. I called my car insurance and they shared FOX completed repairs that were NOT RELATED to the accident, therefore my car insurance wouldn't cover those costs. I asked FOX for an itemized receipt of all repairs and their representative ONLY PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE DOCUMENT. I had less than a month to figure out what was going on, and the FOX representatives kept harassing and threatening me for money, urgently. What's the difference between a SCAM and FOX??

I will give zero star, stay away from this place. I will give zero stars. I prepaid approximately $360 through Priceline for a 4-day car rental, expecting that to be the total cost as advertised. However, when I returned the vehicle, I was unexpectedly charged an additional $300 for the same rental period. I was later told these extra charges were for insurance, roadside assistance, and other add-on services. I did not request, authorize, or agree to any of these services. At the rental counter, I explicitly stated that I did not want any additional coverage or add-ons, since my credit card already provides rental insurance coverage.

At no point was a contract clearly presented or explained to me regarding these additional charges. These fees were not transparently disclosed and effectively doubled the price compared to the advertised booking price, which is extremely concerning. This experience strongly suggests hidden charges and misleading pricing practices. Customers should be able to rely on the price they are quoted when booking a rental car.

I have requested a full review of my rental agreement and a refund for all unauthorized add-on services. If this matter is not resolved promptly, I will proceed with disputing the charges with my credit card company and filing formal complaints with relevant consumer protection agencies. I hope the company will take this issue seriously and correct the charges.

After 10 minutes of pleading, I got him to try another card machine. It worked. In the car. The rearview mirror was not stable. The oil light was on. Tire pressure lights came on. Something positive, the man at the return at Phoenix Airport was very nice and quick. Forget saving a few bucks and go to Hertz or Avis.

I would give -10 stars if I could. This company is listed in the Defense Travel System used by civilian and military for temporary travel duty. A Marine was quoted $56 a day, approximately $240 for the week. Upon returning the car, he was charged $175 a day instead, for over $700! He twice tried to get them to adjust the actual price and they flat out refused. With any luck, they will be removed from the government system as an option.

Here is the bigger scam from not only Fox but Expedia. If you go to the Expedia website and then go to rent a car it can lead you To EUROPcar website, which you assume would be reliable. What can happen is that they will route your rental to Crappy FOX without your knowledge! And as you know and from the reviews Fox is an absolute suboptimal experience, especially the Vegas location. Furthermore Expedia does nothing to assist you if you have an issue.

This was the second time I used Fox Rent A Car as part of my Expedia travel package, but it will be my last. Although the staff at the rental counter and return area were very nice and friendly, their billing department and customer service teams were not helpful at all. First, when I arrived to pick up my car, because my flight had landed early, I was advised I would have to wait an hour or pay for an additional day. The counter agent told me that the car was due back by 2:00 pm on Thursday. I turned the car in at 2:05 pm but was assured by the person who accepted my vehicle that it was fine because there was 59-minute grace period.

Imagine my surprise when my credit card was billed for another day. I called and spoke to someone in billing who finally got approval from a "supervisor" to refund the late fee. But they only refunded part of what I had been charged. I was given an explanation that did not make any sense, and when I asked to speak to the supervisor, I was told someone would call me within 24-72 hours. Of course, I received no call. I called a week later and was advised that my request for a supervisor to call me had been declined. The billing department agent was very dismissive in talking with me but did finally relent and indicated she would escalate this issue to the rental location for resolution and email me with the results. Of course, I received no email.

I waited another week and called back and tried going through customer services instead of billing, but again, I got nowhere. I was told that they would put in a request for someone to call me back, but of course, they did not. I tried going onto their website to find a phone number to call their corporate offices which was basically a waste of time. At this point, I will have to eat the difference between the extra that I was billed and what was actually refunded. It is not a large amount, but it is the principle of the matter. If they do this to multiple customers in a day, they are definitely raking in the profits.

In addition, pressured me to get the insurance, even though I previously specified I did not want it. All said, I paid twice as much as originally agreed to rent the car. Tried working with customer service to resolve after returning the car and they refused to refund the unnecessary insurance (my insurance already covers). Lesson learned. I was planning a reservation in Hollywood Florida for the following dates: February 16 2026 till March 30 2026. So I reserve a car with Fox. I received two confirmations including one on the eve of departure, February 14 2026. So on the 16, I went to the Fox counter at the fort Lauderdale Airport and after a long hard look at his screen, the clerk told me that I have been barred, rejected, and I'm now persona non grata at Fox. I couldn't get any reason why as no detail was provided even for those who work there. It was an administrative decision at a higher level apparently and that was it. No car for me. Go find a car somewhere else!

I told the clerk I reserved a car 2 years ago at the same place and probably a few other time since I'm doing this kind of location for about ten years. Never any problems of any kind ,credit card or damage to the car or claims. Nothing. Now that reservation was for an amount of 1213.06$ for the duration of the vacation. Given what just happened, I had little choice but to find a car on the spot. So I went to ACE, the counter right next to yours. The guy at ACE tried his best to have the lowest price for me but could not find lower than 1722$ for part of my vacation, 28 days. It is absolutely abhorrent to be treated like this. No notice to that effect has ever be send to me .Only happy confirmations. On top of that, it cast a shadow on my reputation left unexplained.

I rented through Priceline for my rental car in San Antonio, Texas for 2 weeks. I went to the rental desk and she pulled up my reservation, asked for my Driver's License at that time. I told the sales agent that I had more than enough full coverage on rentals with my personal auto insurance and offered to show her my insurance card, and I would not need any additional coverage. The agent said she just needed to know what insurance I had and I told her the company. The agent stated then I just needed to initial in 2 places and then asked for my payment. I paid with my American Express card which also offers coverage on rentals in addition to my personal coverage.

I returned the car in time and when she handed me the total amount I questioned why was I charged 180.00 for additional liability when I did not request that? The check in service said I would have to call the 800 number on the receipt that I was emailed. I called the Customer Service and of course you’re talking with foreign personnel you can hardly understand and she stated it was their policy. I then asked to speak with someone above her then was told there is no one above her and the charges could not be removed!

Fox kept telling us they couldn’t guarantee the reservation. We asked Expedia to send Fox an email explaining the situation, which they did, but when we got to the airport the next day (14 hours late) our reservation had been canceled.

Fox said the only car available was an upgrade for an additional $240. (Seems to be a common theme from what I’m reading in other reviews.) The staff was rude, abrupt and very unprofessional. Fox has a 2 hour grace period, after that time they cancel your reservation so you can expect to be charged more. When I checked around most car rental companies have a 24 hour grace period. First time we rented a car from Fox, but never again. Worst car rental experience ever trying to deal with the Fox staff.

I rented a vehicle from Fox in February 2026, and the experience was poor. First, the vehicle had a noticeable and unpleasant odor at pickup, which the attendant acknowledged but attributed to "bad car fragrance" without offering any solution. Second, I was unfairly charged a refueling fee. My rental agreement stated the car was picked up with a "Full" tank, and I returned it with the gauge showing "Full." Your representative then charged me to "max" the tank, even though there was no documented proof that it was at a "max" level at pickup. This arbitrary charge is unacceptable; and they will not refund me the charge. The practice of "skimming for cash by adding charges after the fact" is the reason I will be choosing other rental companies for my future travel.

I specifically said I didn't want the daily insurance coverage; however, when it came to signing the different parts, the customer service person slipped in the part about accepting the insurance coverage and without my husband realizing what it was (he's quite deaf) he initialed it and we were charged for it. When I finally figured out what they had done, I called Fox and was told I'd need to go to the airport to get the charge removed. We finally went today and they refused to do anything about it and said it was our fault for initialing it (even though the copy they emailed me doesn't show it being initialed). I called customer service, and the representative said I should have checked the company's website or asked the attendant, even though it is the employee's responsibility to provide this information, or it should be clearly stated in the contract, not on the website where people don't even think to look, much less read the return terms. I do not agree with this company's policy, and you can be sure that this will be the first and last time I rent a car from you.
