Buckle up and get ready to pay twice as much for what you booked your rental for. If you do not get their plate pass BEWARE, they partner and share your card on file with a company call ATS processing, where they continue to charge me tolls at 10 times the cost. Two tolls at $10, each one had a 75-85 admin fee, plus tax. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? No, I did not say I allow some other entity to take my card on file to charge me 10 times and whatever they want for weeks on end. This was my first vacation in 5 years ruined by all this stress. How is one supposed to budget these costs?? Customer service in person and on the phone is a nightmare as well. "Nothing I can do without my manager," or "I do not know I am new here." Or we are not the ones doing the charging... UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Rented from FOX in Seattle airport. Agreed to set price/gal for used fuel. Returned car 1/2 full. Initially, FOX tried billing for full tank BUT I had a picture of the dash fuel gauge when I returned the car. They then refunded for 1/2 tank BUT still charged rental car tax and Washington State tax in violation of Washington State Department of Revenue specific to this type of purchase. While it isn't that much money, I took the liberty of filing a complaint with the State as they are likely screwing others similarly every day. This will now trigger a Washington State Dept of Revenue audit and hopefully significant fines and enough bad press to warn of FOX's unscrupulous business practices.

I was given the option and agreed at the counter that the company would fill the tank and only charge me for the gas used. According to Washington State tax regulations "these charges are not part of the selling price and are not subject to the retail sales and rental car taxes." Since Fox Rental pays a lower B&O tax on these "optional fuel charges" this invoice deception indicates that they are collecting inflated taxes from the consumer but likely not forwarding them to the State.

And this is not verbally disclosed upon your rental.... Fees are how this company stays in business- and the rental car was NOT nice-stained seats, large hole in driver side carpet.... THE WORST!!! We rented a car through Expedia and prepaid. Went to get the car only to find out it was off-site and took 20 minutes to get there by shuttle. We declined insurance, the sunpass, and said we would take the gas top up. They made us initial on a debit machine and charged us a $400 deposit, which they told us numerous times was just a deposit.

When we returned the car, we were charged the entire deposit for all of the things we declined and for a privilege fee, an entire tank of gas, even though they told us we would be charged for whatever we needed for a top-up. They said, "Oh we signed off on all of this" which we didn't. The car had a broken seat belt in the back, so we couldn't sit on that side. A piece of the trim was falling off inside the door, and they had no other cars, so we had to take that one. We ended up trying to fight, losing the deposit, but they just keep saying we signed off, even though we had no physical paper that we signed and were scammed by the employee. Do NOT book with this company. It is the worst customer service, and they are fraudulent!

Please don't use this car rental company. If I could give zero stars I would. Adriana, the representative that checked my husband and myself in at San Antonio airport, clearly deceived us. First, we have used this company twice before, through Expedia, and we were quite pleased at this location. When we were asked about liability insurance coverage we both specifically stated we didn't want liability insurance, as our personal car insurance has coverage for rental cars. She tried to sell us it a second time, stating our personal car insurance wouldn't cover all damages if we were to be in an accident and we both again refused the liability insurance. She then told one of us to initial the box, and my husband did. It's her putting in the information on the computer, and then him initialing a signature box.

Nowhere can you see what you are actually initially. She asked for a credit card and said our deposit would be returned when the car was returned but we owed $87.40. He explained to her, this was already paid for ahead of our trip by Expedia, and we shouldn't owe anything because we refused the liability insurance and she stated that it wasn't a liability insurance coverage charge that it was a government tax charge, not paid by Expedia. We paid it reluctantly, and gave her our American Express credit card, knowing they would help dispute this charge.

The receipt was emailed to us, when we returned the car, undamaged, however, and we were already in flight to home. The detailed receipt stated that we paid for supplemental liability insurance at $15.50 for five days, plus tax $87.40. Again, we refused this insurance. This is a painful process. We contacted Expedia and they said, Fox's record to them was that we returned the car late and this was a late fee. We contacted the manager at Fox and they said we initialed for the liability insurance, and sent the rental agreement only then showing that box initialed by us. Save yourself the aggravation. Go to a more reputable car rental company. We will never use them again. This is being disputed through American Express credit card. Live and learn.

Our reservation was made through Priceline. From the time we got to the rental counter till the time we dropped the car off the service was terrible. The wait time and attitude from the staff members sucked. Nobody liked their job. We upgraded for $500 to an 8 passenger SUV. Waited 45 minutes for a 4 Runner that still wasn’t ready. They told us that car was having routine maintenance and a wash. Mind you I had an appointment an hour away and could not wait any longer. I asked for another vehicle. They gave us a Chrysler minivan. Which was filthy. Beat up and had the check engine light on.

We unpacked the van. Went back to the desk. Again all of the employees seemed annoyed with all of the customers coming back to complain about the vehicle they were given. I asked for the Toyota Sienna that I figured would be a reliable vehicle. The representative said that it was a hybrid and she would need to get approval. While she was on the phone with who knows who. Customers were at the counter complaining about the vehicles. Waiting another 30 minutes. I said to her. I need to go. I cannot wait here any longer. The rep said. I have a VW Atlas ready now. The car comes to the driveway. Looks like someone squirted the hose and left the car. Really dirty inside and out. Scratched and dented. We drove it because at this time we were already late for our appointment. While driving the car. The dashboard kept showing different faults. I would NEVER rent from this company again.

Recently rented a car from the Ft. Myers Fl. location May 5 to 12 2026. Rented thru expedia. The rental office was off airport, and shuttle picked us up promptly. Car was ready, had already paid thru expedia. Asked for extra insurance, which I declined. Was told to put down $350 to cover any tolls or needing of any gas when car was returned. Returned with full tank of gas. Of the $350 deposit, $232 returned. They charged me for not using tolls at $14 per day. Never told anything about that at checkin. Renter Beware- they get you one way or another. Lost a customer here and I will certainly not recommend to anyone in the future.

Very disappointing experience with Fox Rent A Car at Phoenix Airport. We clearly stated at the counter that we did not want insurance or any extra coverage. The only additional charge explained to us was a small upgrade fee so my husband could also drive the car. Instead, we were rushed through multiple signatures without properly being shown or informed about what was being added to the contract. Later, we discovered almost $200 in extra charges for LDW insurance and Roadside Assistance that were never clearly explained to us.

What made this even worse was how unprofessional the situation was handled afterward. Customer service simply pointed to the signatures and offered a small voucher to use their company again, which honestly felt insulting after this experience. My husband and I rent cars often and have never experienced something like this before. I would absolutely not recommend this company. If you rent from them, carefully review every single charge before signing anything.

Absolutely terrible experience with Fox Rent A Car. This company feels like a complete scam. The price they advertise online is nowhere near what you actually end up paying once you arrive. They hit you with hidden fees, ridiculous deposits, and nonstop pressure to buy extra insurance even if you already have coverage.

The customer service was awful from start to finish. Employees were rude, unhelpful, and acted like they didn’t care at all. The car itself was dirty, had damage all over it, and clearly wasn’t maintained properly. Then after returning the vehicle, I was charged extra fees with little explanation. I would strongly recommend avoiding Fox Rent A Car unless you want stress, hidden charges, and a terrible rental experience. There are way better companies out there that actually treat customers honestly.

Please read this in full. We were at Pheonix AR Airport. What happened to us by Europcar/Fox Rental car was so wrong. We were scammed. Stop sending people to Europcar/Fox Rental Car. Twice before our trip I called Europcar and was told we had to have our car picked up by 12:30PM. Our flight was late and we didn't get to Europcar until around 12:50. We were stressed and so grateful the employee waited for us. The employee said, "We are going to upgrade your car for you." We said no we want fuel economy. He insisted they were upgrading our car and no worries, they would take care of us. No additional charge. We were charged for the upgrade. The employee had me initial here and there as he scrolled to the spots I had to initial and sign on the small electronic signature pad. I thought he was being nice and I was signing to get the car. Little did I know he had me signing for extras over $800.

We did agree to the prepaid fuel charge and for both my husband and myself to drive the car, but nothing else. We were totally taken advantage of and scammed. After this I did research on Europcar/Fox rental car and found this is common for them to do this to people. They continue to rip people off, scam them, lie, and basically steal and no one will stop them or shut them down.

I received a credit card statement and receipt stating that I was charged an additional $224 as an upgrade. This was clearly not part of the agreement. I called their billing department only to get a response from the agent stating that there is nothing she could do to rectify the situation and that there was nothing one else that I could speak. We arrived in Denver and it had recently snowed. The person behind the desk recommended we upgrade to an AWD vehicle. Well initially he quoted us $450 EXTRA on the original $350 rental fee for the upgrade. When we said there's no way we're paying more than double for an AWD, he started asked if we were Costco members, and that he could do a small discount - he didn't even ask to see the Costco card, so this basically tells me that he's just making up prices as he goes.

Anyway, the rental was fine, the car was pretty good, but then we received a toll bill in the mail. Now, he did not mention anything about charges for tolls. There were $23.30 in toll charges; no big deal, but here's the kicker - $120 in admin fees. So now basically we've ended up paying ~$800 for what started as a $350 rental. My recommendation: just use a reputable rental agency - you'll end up paying the same or less for a much better experience. We will never use Fox again, and neither should you!

Lots of charges!! Firstly they would not waive the under 25 fee even though I turn 25 in a month, it just comes up "in the system". Second, they basically force you to pay for the Sun Pass every day. In FL if you don't have one and you go through the toll it's about $5-8, but Fox will charge you $90 plus $15 each additional time you go through a toll unless you buy the pass for each day, ridiculous. Then, they add all these tiny little fees for random things, the worker didn't even know what they were for and couldn't explain them to me. I asked what is this and he said, "I don't know it's in the system, I don't add that." HUH?

The car itself was also kind of dirty, not bad but found old food in between seats. Car drove well. Overall, not good customer service and horrible extra fees. I also got a manager special, and he only gave me the small car, I asked if since it was just a mystery car if I could get a bigger car (which I saw a bunch just sitting in the lot) and he said that would be an upcharge, even for the newer model of the car he gave me was going to be an upcharge.
