Candlewood Suites in Annapolis is a wonderful place. It's clean. Regina and Mary are wonderful. They help you with everything. The whole staff is friendly. They thank you for coming and staying. They always ask if you need anything else, can they help you with something. It's just wonderful place and they're all very wonderful.

We booked a room for two nights. When we arrived we noticed there was no air on in the hallways before entering our room. The air was off in our room. We turned the air on and left for dinner. When we got back to our room was so humid that everything felt damp and sticky. We have family staying at the same hotel, and they also said it feels gross and humid in their room. The front desk clerk said she would talk to the owners and get back with us, but it would be the next day. This is our first time to stay at a Candlewood hotel and our last. This hotel is only a year old and shouldn’t have humidity issues, but it looks like a chain-wide problem based on other reviews. Location Oxford, AL.

Night receptionist cocky reply after we waited in silence and then questioned her checking room availability. She spoke nothing when we entered and requested room availability. No hello, welcome, or let me check to see if there’s anything available. If she would’ve conveyed the computer being slow, we would’ve understood that it would take a moment. She does not represent this hotel very well. She was very unwelcoming. We chose to stay somewhere else.

I booked a stay at Candlewood Suites Navasota on 12/16 for the upcoming weekend because it’s a newer hotel (to avoid concerns like mold) and close to Santa’s Wonderland and A&M. My granddaughter has an immune deficiency, so staying somewhere newer felt safest. The next day, my 7-year-old granddaughter was diagnosed with strep throat and Flu B. I called the hotel to cancel and asked for the manager but was told he wasn’t available. I left my information and was advised to call between 9am–4pm. I called multiple times over two days and never received a return call. I then contacted corporate, received a case number, and was told they notified the property manager and that he should reach out. They also advised me to keep trying. I eventually reached the assistant manager, who attempted to cancel but said only the manager could complete it due to system restrictions and didn’t want me charged incorrectly.
After continued attempts, I finally spoke with Mr. Sandip **. I explained the medical emergency and offered doctor documentation. He said I would have had to cancel the same day I booked (12/16). When I asked to speak to his supervisor, he said he was the owner. I asked if the reservation could be moved to the following weekend instead; he refused, declined issuing any credit, and repeatedly told me to dispute it with my bank. I never checked in, yet my account was charged. I attempted cancellation within 24 hours, tried to reschedule to mitigate loss, and made every effort to resolve this directly.
I have now filed a dispute with my bank, and the hotel is contesting it. I trusted IHG and Candlewood Suites to provide safe accommodations and reasonable customer service in the event of an emergency. It is extremely disappointing that neither the property nor corporate has resolved this matter, and this experience reflects very poorly on the level of service provided.

Hi, my name is John **. I'm 74 years old. My phone number is **. I live at **. CANDLEWOOD SUITES IN HAZLETON, PA - SECURITY/SAFETY COMPLAINT. My partner, Kathy and I checked about 4:30 pm on October 6, 2025. We were travelling north to Massachusetts. Our room (#104) was on the isolated lower level. The Main Desk is on the 4th level. I walked the wrong way down the corridor when I got off the elevator on the lower level. I noticed that the Fire Sprinkler Test Room Doors were open to the outside. I figured the staff was actively working? It's a bad safety practice to leave hotel, office or dormitory doors open to the outside, unattended. It leaves the floor open to violent criminals or vandals.
Around 5:30 we went to supper. I re-checked the Test Room and it was still open to the outside. I took photos. There was nobody in the corridor and nobody outside in the rear yard. We took the elevator to the Main Desk and I told the Assistant General Manager and his staff the story. He said that a crew was working in the area. I explained that I looked all around and nobody was there at 5:30 and the floor was wide open to the back yard and unattended. Anybody could have walked into the isolated lower level. There were dehumidifiers on the floor and the corridor smelled moldy. I had the feeling that the Assistant Manager was just trying to blow me off. I said I want this filed as a complaint and I request my room be compensated. He said that he had to check in with the General Manager.
This prompted several calls back to me as the Assistant General Manager spoke to the General Manager and relayed his orders. Calls were at 5:54, 5:59 and 6:04. One was made by a woman on his staff. I repeatedly asked to be compensated as the warning I gave them could have saved somebody's life or prevented a vandal from activating a False Fire Alarm. He told me that the GM was throwing Kathy and I out of the hotel and the Police had been called to come in 30 minutes. (SERIOUSLY) I went up to the Main Desk at 30 minutes to file a report with the Police. The Assistant GM said the Police came but said it would be "unfair" to throw us out and they left. He told us that the General Manager still wanted us out. I warned him that this was an unethical thing to do.
Kathy and I were polite and civil. We are 74 and 73 years old. You can't legally throw somebody out for making a safety complaint? Kathy and I had enough - we left fearing some more violent type of retaliation. Plus, the corridor on the lower level was infested with flies. Additionally, I had noticed gasoline lawn machines in the Test Room. You can't store GASOLINE under occupied hotel space. I have filed a complaint with the Sugarloaf Fire Department. I don't think that the staff in this hotel have even a minimal amount of appreciation for the security and safety efforts required to reasonably protect people. Plus, to retaliate against two people in their 70's for making a safety complaint is undefendable. Thanks for your consideration.

KICKED OUT OF CANDLEWOOD SUITES IN HAZELTON, PA FOR LIFE SAFETY COMPLAINT. Kathy and I checked in about 4:30 pm on October 6. Our room was on the lower level. I think it was 104. I walked the wrong way down the corridor when I got off the elevator. I noticed that the Fire Sprinkler Test Room Door was open to the outside (see photo). I figured the staff was actively working. It's a bad safety practice to leave hotel or dormitory doors open to the outside, unattended. It leaves the floor open to violent criminals or vandals. In a Test Room, opening the wrong sprinkler valve will activate the fire alarm and empty the hotel. So vandals are a concern.
Around 5:30 we went to supper. I re-checked the Test Room and it was still open to the outside. This time I took photos. There was nobody in the corridor and nobody outside. We took the elevator to the Main Desk and I told the Assistant General Manager (A.G., I think?) the story. He said that a crew was working in the area. I explained that I looked all around and nobody was there at 5:30 and the floor was wide open to the back yard (photos). I said I want this filed as a complaint and I request my room be compensated. A.G. said he had to check in with the General Manager (J.D.). This prompted several calls back to me as A.G. spoke to the General Manager and relayed his orders. Calls were at at 5:54, 5:59 and 6:04. I repeatedly asked to be compensated as the warning I gave them could have saved somebody's life or prevented a vandal from activating a False Alarm.
A.G. (Assist. GM) told me that the GM was throwing Kathy and I out of the hotel and the Police had been called for 30 minutes. I went up to the Desk at 30 minutes to file a report with the Police. A.G. said the Police came but said it would be "unfair" to throw us out and they left. A.G. told us that J.D. still wanted us out. I warned A.G. that this was a dumb thing to do. Kathy and I were polite and civil. You can't legally throw somebody out for making a safety complaint. Kathy and I had enough - we left. As an old Facility Manager, I might be slipping? I was so worried about criminals and vandals, I didn't notice the gasoline lawn machines in the Test Room. You can't store GASOLINE under occupied hotel space (photo). What a place! Never stay at the Candlewood Suites in Hazelton.

The staff is very helpful and accommodating but the atmosphere isn't something that I would bring my children around nor my grandmother. There was late-night partying in the gazebo area with big bottles of booze, and I didn't feel safe on taking my dog outside. There were no designated areas for our dog, in which we were told that there was. Late into the evening, housekeeping and it was quite loud. Not sure that a $300 deposit is worth it at all, despite having a kitchen and a very small room with only one chair.

I would have recommended this hotel if I had been asked early that morning, right before checkout. The staff throughout the evening and night were very accommodating, kind, helpful, polite, and pleasant. The next morning, change of shift, the entire aura changed in the hotel. And I have yet to receive a refund of the unused money from my deposit. which is $68. It’s been five days. The hotel keeps telling me they released the money. I have a statement from my bank saying they haven’t.
Now why would they keep my money so long? I have been on the phone with them no less than five times and they keep telling me that they released the money which makes no sense why it wouldn’t be in my bank. My bank is immediate. The staff lied to me about it over and over again and they still have yet to return it. Although I am not happy with the refund of my money, The hotel is very nice and like I said the overnight staff was great, daytime staff not so great. very rude, very unaccommodating, and I believe one of them rolled their eyes at me which shows extreme unprofessionalism. Daytime staff needs to take a tip from nighttime staff on how to treat customers and please could someone return my money to me?

This hotel is awful. Reservations are sent to a 3rd party, which they don’t tell you! If you have to cancel your reservation they only give partial refunds and you have to call everybody and their brother to TRY and get the rest of your refund. The hotel manager was very rude to me when I called the hotel to speak to him personally concerning my situation. The local hotel doesn’t know who their reservation company is and they just tell you to call Expedia, etc. My situation is going on for a month and still have no answers or refund. I highly recommend not EVER making a reservation with them. Nobody takes responsibility. I don’t want to even this company one star.

Find another place to stay. My family of 4 arrived 3-1 to the hotel in Stafford Texas to check in and was told my booked room from Jan was not available. The concierge then told me that she doesn’t know how I was able to book the 1bedroom (2) bed suite because the guest that are in there have been there over a month. At this point I’m wasn’t sure what type of hotel this was but I was angry to say the least. She then said all that she had was a 1bed that probably wouldn’t accommodate my family. Again angry!! My son is 16 and my daughter is 6 plus my husband. It was last minute so we had no other choice but to stay. I had to ask for bedding for my son to sleep in the chair which he ended up sleeping on the floor. This was so unfortunate and unprofessional to say the least. This was my 1st and last booking with this chain because who’s to say this won’t happen again.
The next day we were moved to a 2 bed room which worked out better for my family. This was a bad experience and a 1st for me dealing with this. I booked beginning of January which you would think is good timing. But no because clearly you should call ahead (which I’ve never had to do) to see if the room you booked is available even though you booked though their direct site (no 3rd party). I’ve called customer service and was told they were having difficulties and I would get a call back in 3 min… well over 20 min and still no call back. Never again. And still no call back 24hrs later!!!

We were charged double for our stay. The card used to book the reservation was charged and then the card requested at the hotel for $50 incidentals was charged the full price as well. I've been trying since July to get a refund for one of the charges. I have all the documentation to show the double charge. Cannot get any resolution. I've written many times and all I get are return messages of 'how are we doing'. Then nothing! No follow up from them. I'll never stay at a CandleWood Suites or an IHG hotel again. If they can't resolve a simple situation like this, don't count on them for anything.

I originally booked a 30-night stay but left after just 3 nights. After the second night, I discovered 7 bed bug bites on my arms. When I reported this to the manager, they claimed it was an isolated issue. However, my coworker, who was staying in a different room on another floor, experienced the same problem with similar bites. What’s even more concerning is that many reviews on Google mention this hotel having a serious bed bug issue, yet the manager insisted it was never a problem. I find that hard to believe, and it’s clear this is a recurring issue they are not addressing. I would highly advise against staying here.

The Candlewood Suites location is ideal for many activities in Syracuse, NY and we booked five rooms for an out of town company management activity. The whole facility was underwhelming: scrapes all along the walls, no hot water for showers in at least two of our rooms, and faucet not well attached to sink. The cups and silverware were dirty. Staff was very friendly but loudly called out loudly hotel room numbers, a security issue especially for single people. Inattention to landscaping and weeds gives an accurate picture of the entire property.

Recently stayed at the Candlewood Suites 2210 Corporate Dr Marrietta Ga and was overcharged, the hotel is new but lacks in cleanliness. The hotel housekeepers need more training. The hotel needs new management. It's overpriced, cheap appliances (dishwasher cleanser did not dissolve on two separate occasions), poorly design, no pool, no breakfast, no sanitation wipes in the fitness/ laundry center, would only stay here if I had extra points to spare. There's no awning at the front entrance, if it's raining or snowing oh well. This hotel was just thrown together quickly, the elevators and internet were in and out of service, stains on the walls, trash sat in the hallway the entire weekend. Random doors unsecured and the location is sketchy. This hotel would be a last resort but if you have to stay there, "Watch your bill", they are very crafty.

We booked a Candlewood Suites room in Lafayette in advance for 5 nights, hoping to enjoy our stay while exploring the area and visiting the crawfish festival. The problems started piling up right from the beginning. My key to the room was not working, the phone in the room to call the service desk wasn't working either, has to go downstairs to have it recorded. Preparation for dinner didn't go well either as the stove was out of service. The clerk pretended to have sent a technician, who never showed up. The room was depressingly humid and smelly. Everything was sticky and damp to the touch, there was mold growing between windows. I have visited 14 countries and can assure you that this was the worst hospitality experience ever. I paid for a one night stay at Candlewood Suites Hancock Airport. I had an early morning flight. I arrived to a huge line of people waiting to check in. There was one attendant at the desk, and after 2 hours, it was my turn and I was informed that my reservation was cancelled. They refused to answer question - just turned everyone away - it was the first time in all of my travels that this has occurred. They promised that they had not charged my credit card $161, however that was inaccurate.
I had to make a BBB complaint to be reimbursed - that took weeks. I was left with no reservation and had to spend the night at the airport, because all nearby hotels were booked solid. I will never choose IHG hotels in the future. This was not only unreasonable, it was cruel, and the staff was beyond rude and insensitive. There was no explanation - just blatant and callous "You don't have a reservation." I had my confirmation and valid proof that I was prepaid. I'm 79 years old and was put on the street with no suggestions, alternatives or apologies.

The Candlewood Suites on Lyra drive in Columbus, Ohio is the worst property I've ever stayed at. I travel 52 weeks out of the year for business. I'm used to noisy neighbors, etc, and I understand that some guests are simply louder than most would like but this property is absolutely horrible. The restaurant across the street has loud rock music playing every Wednesday night. They cater to motorcycle clubs who rev their engines from 4 pm until midnight. I truly enjoy the kitchen with a microwave, cooking range and full sized refrigerator. It allows me to cook my own meals without having to eat out while business traveling. But the blood spray on the walls, ceiling and bathroom are unacceptable. But last night put the proverbial "cherry on top". My neighbors decided that smoking in the hallways, playing loud music and slamming doors was acceptable behavior.
The front desk did their best to quell these obnoxious folks but stated that unless they "see evidence of smoking there's nothing they can do about it." The front desk admitted they'd received "multiple guest complaints about the smoking and noise but really couldn't do anything except talk with them." This property caters NOT to business travelers but to contractors and low income families looking for temporary housing. Smoking is everywhere. The hallways reek of it as do the elevator and lobby. I should've left immediately but my company booked this property and it's difficult to change reservations once checked in. Never again will I stay here. Never again will my company use this property.

We were given of reward, which is obvious that one would do so, but that was it. No apologies from the Manager - Martha, no accommodations etc. These bites start from my butt all down to my feet as you can see in the pictures. I walked the furthest into the room to plug in my laptop and therefore received the most bites. This is absolutely disgusting.
In addition, at check in, we were initially told that there weren't any vacancies. We kindly advised that our reservation began on Aug 15 and we were checking in early morning Aug 16. Doing this would ensure we would have a room available when we arrived after driving 5 hours and 40 min, from Atlanta, to your location. Someone should have checked the room prior to our arrival to ensure that it was habitable.
We are disappointed with how the situation was handled. You can't imagine the amount of burning and itching we have to endure due to this. We have been in correspondence with the hotel and IHG. The responses have been jokes and IHG responded to me regarding bed bugs, when the issue was fleas... So that tells you how much they paid attention to the complaint. I am reaching out to everyone from Corporate on down to those that plan to book a room to let them know about our experience..ESPECIALLY since the response we received from this establishment made it obvious that they could care less.

This location (CandleWood Suites Fossil Creek) is well known (explained by numerous police officials on both occasions) drug rings, prostitution, human trafficking, & violence. As a professional healthcare advisor it is very disconcerting to have fear for not only your spouse but others while you are on premises. This includes but is not limited to the hotel room, parking lot, gym, hallway, and patio. Having been reassigned early November from Colorado it was very inconvenient due to the aforementioned to have to rent another transport vehicle on a business day to relocate 5 miles away. This caused me to get penalized a day at work and cost me a local transport vehicle! All of this is very unexpected. I have been with IHG for 7 years with no single instance occurring during that period! There needs to be an investigation into the ethics and safety of your clients at this facility!

This chain is always clean, from the lobby, to the restaurant, to the rooms themselves. The linen is always clean. The bathrooms, furniture and carpet is very neat. The amenities are great also. I love the continental breakfast. The swimming pool, the workout area, the complimentary newspaper are all great services. Whenever I have used the customer service, I have had great service. I have used the toll free customer and the customer service at the actual hotel and have never had any problems.

The cleanliness of these hotels have always been good for me. I love staying in them. Always plenty of room to move around when sharing a room. Never had a problem with bedding being clean. Never had a problem with bathrooms either. The service with the front desk has always been good. I've never had a problem with any of them. Always been helpful and kind. Staying here has always been good. They could offer more to you with the Rewards Program honestly. I never feel like I'm actually getting anything. They don't have the hotels every where to stay at enough of them to use it. The customer service has always been very good. Never have had a problem with them. Always gave us the stuff we needed and helped with any issues right away.
