I bought a set of tires and paid with a check from the wrong bank account. I received a notice from my bank that there were insufficient funds. I went to Big o immediately and tried to pay the bill. They refused and said the bill is automatically sent to collections. It was an honest mistake, but there is no difference. I'm treated like a dead-beat. I didn't even get a chance to make it right. I've been a good customer for many years. I told them I won't ever be back. $250 dollars plus bank charges.

On 5/29/2010, I visited Big O Tires in Renton Wash. for an oil change and asked them to check the brakes. I received a call from Melissa ** at Big O Tires stating I needed brakes on the front and back of my 2001 Tahoe, to include a new idler arm and a leaking power steering pump. I opted for a second opinion and visited Les Schwab, I was advised I had about 60% left on the brakes of this vehicle and did not need brakes. This resulted in a savings of about $600.

I went to Big O Tire on Tuesday, May 18, 2010. I asked to have the oil changed, tires rotated and a nail hole fixed. I knew that I needed new tires on the back but I did not have the money that day to get new tires. I was sitting and watching TV. and the young boy (Chris) behind the desk came to me and said that I needed to have two tires aligned and I said if they needed to be aligned then do it. Then a few minutes later, another salesman came to me and had me sign this paper that he had folded in half on a clip board and I seen at the bottom of the paper some numbers that said 1034.00 and I told the salesman that I hope that he was not expecting me to pay 1034.00 and he laughed and said no.
Then a few minutes later, the salesman Chris came to me and said that my car was done. I went to pay for to repair that I requested and he said that my bill was $1034.00 and I said $1034.00 to have my oil changed, tires rotated and nail hole fixed was going to cost me $1034.00 and Chris said to me that he told me that I need new tires on my car and that I told them to put 4 new tires on the car (jeep liberty) so they put 4 new tires on my car. I said that I did not give the okay to put new tires on the car and Chris got mad and said that I did. If I would have agreed to putting new tires on my car I would have wanted to know before they put the tires on my car how much it was going to cost. Chris did not even ask me which tires I wanted on my car.
There was nothing wrong with the 2 tires on the front of the car. I just bought new tires for the front of the car 1 year ago and they have enough tread on them to last me another 2 years. Why would I have told them to replace 2 good tires. I asked to talk to the manager Joel and Chris said that he was not there that day cause his mother passed away. I was upset and crying cause I did not have $1034.00 to pay for new tires on the car. The older man came to me and said that they would work something out. Then Chris said to me that I could get one of their credit cards and pay for them with their card and I said no cause I am trying to get out of debt not make more debt. I then told them to take the tires off of my car and put the old ones back and the older man said that 2 of the tires were bad.
So I told them to replace the 2 bad tires only. Which cost me $455.00. I then asked to see the tires that they took off of my car and they could not find them. I came back a couple of days later to talk to the manager and he still was not in the office and when the young boy Chris seen me pull into the parking lot he was laughing at me and making fun of me. I feel that they were taking advantage of me cause I am a women and they thought they could pull this over on me. I was very upset and crying and I feel that they should apologize to me for taking advantage of me. I am not a stupid woman. I feel that Chris needs to be disciplined for what he did to me and the way that he treated me with no respect.

When I got home, I looked at the tires after they had dried and they looked like they had been lying in a mud puddle. They didn't have the little rubber nubs that usually appear on new tires. There were some thin inch-long pieces of rubber on the side walls. I have tried spraying "tire dressing" on them, but the dirt coloration keeps coming through.
I do not want to go back to that store. I was not happy having to wait all day and told the manager so. He was not too nice to me and they seemed to think it was a joke running next to the van spraying whatever on the tires. Now I'm beginning to think that these were blems or used tires. I bought new tires. The invoice also said that they were installed the day before, which they were not. The original invoice also says "Special order tires for tomorrow, 3/23/2010". What can I do? How do I know if they are really new tires and what can I do if I have warranty issues? My Husband bought tires for our other van from them and has had no issues yet. I paid $576.77 for all 4 tires. All I wanted were great all weather tires. The place where I used to buy my tires went out of business and those tires lasted 6 years or more and would have lasted longer, but I wanted new tires.

In Feb. 2010, I took my 2000 Mustang in for new tires. Tires were reasonable and they have friendly staff and I thought it was a good experience. Manager told me that brakes were in good shape, little vibration due to a slightly bent rear rim (but no big deal). In May 2010, I noticed considerable brake noise in front end. I took it into the brake shop for a look and before I could get out the door, immediately called me into the shop to show me "something". Apparently, I was missing 2 lugs, one on each side of the front. They had been sheared off. Additionally, 2 of the passenger side front lug nuts were loose to the point of falling off with half a finger turn.
Today, I called Big O and told them about my concerns, explained about the sheared lugs and loose nuts. Chris said he'd check into the paperwork and call me back. He called back. He told me that there is a note on the hard copy that states his shop broke two of the lugs off when replacing tires. Funny that this was never mentioned to me when I paid for and picked up my car after new tire installation. This info is not on my receipt or paperwork, but it's on the hard copy, so I guess that makes it alright?
As far as the loose lug nuts go, Chris informed me that that the lug nuts must have been properly tightened because there are 2 (yes two) guys that make sure the lug nuts are tightened (not saying that these guys did their job, just that there are 2 guys that were supposed to do their job). Since I had these tires put on a little less than 3 months ago, they won't claim responsibility, because if it were their mistake: "the tire would have fallen off a long time ago”. Hmm, is that right? I have found several documents stating that it could take up to a year for loose lugs to fall off, thus losing a tire.
Chris did apologize about the lugs being sheared, but also said "your car has a 5 lug pattern, there are still 4 on there, and so it's not that big of a concern". (Excuse me?!) Chris offered to repair the lugs, thank you. Now the brakes, I am told it wear considerably faster with loose lug nuts. Ugh.

I took my car in, to get my power steering leak fixed. They said it was the main hydraulic line, so they fixed that for $200. I still had the same problems, so I took it back, and they said it was the pump. They said they couldn't refund me for the other part, because they weren't sure if that was the problem. I dropped another $260 for them to fix the pump. Two days later, I am still having the same problems.
Again, they won't refund any of the money I spent. I shouldn't have to pay for a bunch of unnecessary parts. They say that it's hard to locate the problem. Aren't they mechanics? Shouldn't they know how to find a leak, without replacing every part, and charging me for it? Now I have to take it back in, and I'm sure they'll say it's something else, and they can't refund any money, because those parts they replace were "probably" defective too.
I spent about $600 after all is said and done. I have herniated disks in my back, and had to crawl under, to see if I could find the leak. It hurt real bad. I shouldn't have to crawl under cars, because of my back, but the mechanic is incompetent. Also, me and my wife were both very emotionally distraught. It caused such a big fight. I was afraid she was going to leave me.

I have Big O tires on my Chevy Suburban. One of the tires went flat. My wife took it to the nearest Big O with the warranty. The guy was very rude to her but she left the tire anyway. After about 20 minutes of hearing this guy complain about how he was so busy and working alone, I told him to give me back my tire and I will go elsewhere. I went to another Big O and explained what happened. The guy was very polite, told me the tire was discontinued but there was one tire in the U.S. and it was right here in Pheonix, Az.
The guy told me he would have to order it and would be here the following morning at 11:00. I came in the next day at 12:00 but was told it wasn't there yet. I left but I was starting to get upset. I returned at 2:00pm. I was now told he spoke with someone and the tire would be here at 3:00pm. This time I had my wife call and she was told it would surely be here at 11:00 the next morning and for my wife to be there at 11:30am. I asked my wife to call first. Now she was told they don't know what happened to the tire so they told her they had a tire that was comparable but did not match the look. Well I got there at 12:05pm. At this time I hadn't said very much only, “I am here to get the tire on my truck.”
About 10 minutes later, a gentleman walked in and wanted his flat tire fixed. Instead they sell him 2 tires. I heard them say it it would take 45 minutes. Well at 1:00pm, I asked one of the employees what's taking so long. She went and got the manager Charlie. I asked him the same question. He told they were now working on my truck. I asked why this man's car was being done before me. He didn't answer. So I asked again but this time I used the @#% word. He told me I shouldn't cuss in front of a lady (the female employee) and told me he was not going to install my tire. I asked again why this man was first. He then said how much was his bill and how much was mine. Mine was free.
We continued to argue and he kept bringing up that I said the !@% word. Then out his mouth came out the words, “Your wife is a @$^!.” I got real upset and he told me to leave the store and told me he was calling all the Big O not to help me, I refused to leave. He said he was calling the police. I said. “Go right ahead, I am not moving.” He didn't call. I now asked for the owner. He said I can call the corporate office. Which I did. About 3:00 that after noon I got a call from the owner. Lo and behold it was corporate-owned. He asked for myself and I said, “this is him”. He, this James **, just wanted to let me know that I can go to another Big O.
I asked, “You mean no apology for what your employee said?”. He said no. He then asked what do I want. I said, “An apology from your employee”, he said, “I apologize and that's all you're going to get.” I then said, “I can understand why your employees act the way they do, 20 years of service don't mean nothing.” I can now see why Discount Tires is so busy. They get a lot of business from Big O. They will get mine. Thank you!

Well, I took the car for tire rotation, then they said, "Brake fluid is cloudy and transmission fluid is burnt need to replace immediately." Okay, so being a trusty person, I said, "Okay, go ahead." The bill was $283! Surprise! 6k miles later, I go for another tire rotation, they said, "Power steering fluid is burnt, brake fluid is cloudy". That is when I knew someone was a crook!
The brake fluid is supposed to last at a minimum of 30K miles or 36 months, they had supposedly changed 6K and 3 months ago (?) Not being gullible, I took the car to other shop (one owned by a trusty friend of mine) He reported that indeed the brake fluid is cloudy and the transmission fluid is dirty! The people at Big O Tires sc..me really good. They did nothing and charged for all the work. When I called, they gave me the stupid explanation that the oil got cloudy with air in the bottle. Needless to say, I will never go back to Big O Tires! Ever! Ever! Walmart will rotate your tires for free and they open on Saturdays and Sundays! I wasted my time, $283 dollars and were deceived by these crooks!

In 2005 I took my car into Big O to get a tire repaired. They told me that the nail was in the "sidewall" and I would have to purchase a new tire. No problem. Two years later in late 2007 I went back in with a "slow leak" in the tire they had replaced. Once again I was told they couldn't repair because the nail was in the sidewall and that I really needed 4 new tires. I purchased 4 new tires along with the warranty and a punch card for oil changes, etc.
Two and half years later, today 4/2010, I go in to use the punch card for a free oil change. I had been getting my oil changed at Wal-Mart or Danny’s every 3000 miles. The manager told me he would not honor the card because that particular store was no longer a franchise; this also led to conversation on how the economy was not really bad and it was just a rumor the "Dumbocrats" (his word not mine) had started. They (the Dumbocrats) always think the economy is bad when they are in office.
Anyway, he leaves and comes back and you guessed it: "There is a nail in your sidewall of one of your tires and it can’t be repaired. Also, you need to replace all 4 tires because they are worn down because of your alignment. Who did your alignment?” Big O. I tell him just to do the oil change and I would think this over and get back with him. In the meantime I go home look at the contract from the 4 new tires that were only 2.5 years old with less than 15,000 miles on them and realize I have a warranty on them. I call back and yes, you guessed it. He told me that the warranty is no good because the tires do not have a "useful life" of 2/32 of an inch remaining, even though their contract states "Big O Brand Tires, Limited Lifetime Protection."
This tells you that "limited lifetime" of Big O tires is short lived. So my advice is to not purchase any Big O tire. He told me the "new tires" he wanted to sell me were a much better tire. When I commented on the price he told me that "tires took a big hit in price since the dope in office (Obama) decided to place a "rubber excise" tax on imported rubber this year, 2010. I have no idea if this is true but on top of not ever doing business with Big O again because they do not honor anything about their business and they also mix politics with business and spew their disgusting beliefs across the store room floor. I'm neither Democrat nor Republican—just honor your contracts. Also, the car in question is a 2002 Altima with only 45,000 miles on it.

I had ordered 4 custom wheels, 17x7.5 MSR 049, which cost $751.00, which included dismount, remount and balanced. My vehicle is a 2007 Suzuki grand Vitara. the tire and service adviser name is Peter C., the tires were installed on the wheels and I was advised that my present lug nuts, which ere chrome accorn wouldn't work, being to short for the wheel. I was shown what the problem was and I was alright by that, which meant I had to get 20 new ones at the price of $59.43.
The problem with that is you have to have a special socket to fit over the lug nut which I bought. But, in the previous years in buying wheels and lug nuts, that was included. Mr. C. said that would be an additional $35.00 for that part but he had a used one for $5.00 and he could order one for me. I said, no, that I would take the $5.00 one. Other dealers I talked to said, the key should have been included, so I figured he kept the new one. I was there for close to 4 hours, waiting to have the wheels installed. Approximately 6:15 pm, they were done.
I went out to the lot to find that the right rear was nearly flat. I have factory tire pressure sensors on each wheel, as required by federal law, he stated that it was leaking at the stem so he tightened it down, approximately 2 full turns. I got home, approximately10 miles later, to find the right front was almost flat. I called the store and was told that they were closed and was checking out and didn't have time even to talk to me at which we got disconnected.
I got up the next morning to find all four nearly flat. I have a portable air tank in the garage to air tires. I went down to the store. I was told that my factory, federal mandated tire pressure sensors were leaking and wouldn't work, which they broke one but replaced it with a new one. Instead of correcting the problem, they installed regular tire stems and said, the indicator light would stay on but no problem? Well, to shorten the story, they would order a kit and charge $120.00 to try and fix it. I left that store with sensors in hand and went to East Valley Tire Service in East Mesa and had it taken cared of for $60. And no problems. Beware, a fact that it is against the law that knowing to disable a safety function on the auto. I could keep on going on but that it stay away from Big O. Thank you, it was more frustration than anything and workmanship and management, terrible and I think I am still owed a new locked nut key.

My husband brought our car in to Big O Tires while we were shopping at Walmart in Cortez to have our tires rotated and balanced. They told us the vehicle (2000 Dodge Durango) might still drive rough since it was out of balance so bad. That was an understatement! For 6 months, we have drove with it bouncing and bopping all over and finally took it into our local mechanic today, March 22, 2010 (Now you might ask, why we didn't bring it back and have it fixed. Well, we don't live in Cortez or Colorado. We live in Utah and have to drive over an hour to get there. Its not just something we can do to pop over and fix. Trips to Cortez are usually twice a year and in the late evenings, it was a rarity that day to catch Big O open)
His exact words were "Who did you have rotate those tires last"? He had never seen such a terrible, unacceptable balancing job in his career. The tires were over weighted by 3 or more ounces and the weights were strung all over the tires. I explained that we just had it done about 6 months ago in Big O in Cortez. He was dumb founded that you do such a thing and recommend getting a hold of you.
Our mechanic rebalanced the tires with significantly less weight. In fact most, if not all the weight your uneducated mechanic put on there was stripped off. Now my vehicle drives like a dream and we can feel confident in knowing we are safe with the work done. Our mechanic has done major to minor repairs for us for several years now and never over charged or scammed us. I will never recommend your shop, your company or any product of Big O to anyone, not even if it was last resort. I will publish this complaint to the web and make it known to everyone of the "services" you provide.
What a disgrace you are, my family is in close contact with the previous owners of the St.George, Utah branch of Big O's. We never had a problem there and always received honest work. You have ruined the Big O family to us. Never will I put my family's life in your hands. Whoever breaks down your tires, rotates and balances should be fired immediately and never allowed to touch them again!

On the morning of March 11, 2010, I noticed my tire was flat. I filled it with air and proceeded to Big O Tires in Alameda Ca. This is where I purchase all of my tires, tune-ups etc. Upon arrival, I advised Mike of the situation and he said he would take care of it. Later that afternoon, I received a phone call from Mike. He stated to me that I had a nail in the side of my tire. I was also advised that the tire was fixed for now, and I'll need another tire roughly $75. Mike mentioned that they were out of the white wall tires and will have to order me one. I was fine with all of this so far. Now what blew me away was Mike said you can come pick up your car with the following stipulations: (1) don't drive on the freeway, (2) don't drive too much even on the street because of the nail, (3) or just leave it until tomorrow and their replace once the new tire arrives.
I was completely floored because Mike mentioned the first (2) options first. Not sure if he was aware that I could get into an accident, or something even more serious. There was no mention of putting my spare on and come back in the morning. I asked about a loner tire that could be used until morning. I was told we don't have any tires we can put on your car not even for one day. I'm an honest person and don't think I look like a criminal. And for a Tire Co. to say they don't have any such tires, well let’s say I felt, “like smoke was being blown up my **".
My thought was on the word “fixed”. How can a tire be fixed but still has the nail in it? How can a tire be fixed but you have to buy a brand new one the following day. I then called back to see if they could at least put my spare on until the following morning. I was told this could request could be done. However, I'm having a hard time understanding why my spare wasn't an option when it was clear the tire couldn't be "Fixed".
I will never go back to Big O Tires in Alameda again. I felt like my safety was a factor in this situation, and was put in danger. I felt that the customer service I received was "I could care less". I normally let things roll off my back and move on. But this was something your consumers need to be aware of. Thanks for your attention to this matter.

My car would not start (Saturday 7 am) at my hotel Lucky I thought at the time there was a Big O Tire across the street. (PEP Boys two blocks away was not aware at that time and another place, another next door). I arrived early and there was Omar J (big overweight Mexican guy) cranking out his tunes. I told him to turn it down. He did with a bit of an attitude. I asked him to look at my car. Omar J said it would be $100 electrical diagnoses which was fine. Once I got my car in, this intimidating Omar J man told me another $70. I said, "What?" Omar J said maybe I can bring it down later. I knew then and there I was going to get taken.
I went next door to another place (forget the name). They did not have a diagnoses guy Saturday. In hind site, I wish they told me about PEP Boys. So I had to go back and deal with Omar J. I did tell Omar J firmly I'm at he end of my holiday with little money under $800 and only do the minimum it takes me to get back on the road and I'll sign any release forms on minimum work being done. I also let Omar J know I worked at Dave Buck Ford (Canada) in the parts dept 7-8 years and when I get back to Canada, I will have my BMW tech guy review the bill. Omar J says, "Yeah, no problem."
Next thing I know, he tells me it's going to be $1700. I almost cried. Omar J, quite serious and didn't even care, informed me there is nothing he can do to lower the bill except lower my electrical diagnosis from $170 to $120. With that, knowing I will have my BMW guy review the bill when I got home, I said, "Go ahead, Omar J, I trust you a lot."
My parents helped with the payment. My father knew I was getting taken for a ride on my other phone line. Omar J called back and said now this car needs new spark plug or the car may explode with my family in it, $600 more. I said, "No way!" Omar said I have to sign a bunch of waivers in order to get my car back. ***! Next thing I know, David H was there, I suppose the manager. I told him no more. He gave me back my car, no extra waiver were signed. Everyone, please beware of Omar J from Big O Tires Chula Vista, CA 91910 and manager David H, who lets his workers carry out this fraud to visitors of San Diego. I am never coming back or go to a Big O Tire.

I had two new Bridgestone tires installed on my car. I should have looked at the invoice closer, much closer. The same day after Big O put the tires on, I got a quote from Discount tires for the same tires in writing. The Discount tires quote was 20% less than what Big O had charged me. They also charged me $19.99 per tire for a Total-Care tire service that they didn't tell me about. I don't know what this is, what it is supposed to cover, and never wanted it.
Most tire stores will take care of you for free for any minor tire problems. In summary, I was charged $80.00 more for the two tires than another tire store and $39.98 for the two tires for some kind of a maintenance contract I did not want. That is $119.98 that Big O took me for, for two tires. They are not honest. They will charge you for whatever they think they can get out of you. I will never do business with a Big O Tire store again.

I noticed about a week later that one of my other tires was worn. I went to Big O in South Ogden and asked them if they could put the same kind of tire that I had gotten at the previous Big O so we could have them on the front of the vehicle.
They said yes but that it would need 3 days for it to come in. I dropped my car off three days later and when I called to get an update, I was told the wrong tire was ordered and it would take another 3 days to get the correct one in. Also, I needed to get all three remaining tires replaced. Why didn't the previous Big O tell me this and why should I have to take more of my time to come back because of their mistake in ordering the incorrect tire size. Isn't knowing tire sizes your job? On top of it ,they have no Customer Service. They are rude and do not care about their customer's satisfaction.

I purchased a set of tires from Big O about two years ago, and for the most part, I didn't have any problems. I noticed that I had a nail in one of the tires and took it in to have it removed. I really didn't like this particular store, (I purchased the tires at another store in Yuma) as the manager isn't a very nice person, but it was close to my home. And after all, how much harm could come from a simple nail removal?
I dropped my truck off when they opened. About 20 minutes later, I got a phone call from one of the employees letting me know that one of the tires was starting to separate. But the "good" news was that it was still under warranty. He explained it would cost $15.00 for the installation and another $15.00 for the warranty, I told him that was fine.
He then went on to tell me that I needed new windshield wipers and suggested an alignment and new brakes. I told him that at this time, it wouldn't be necessary. He said fine and that they would call me when my truck was ready. About 15 minutes later, I got another phone call from a different gentleman telling me that unfortunately the tire wasn't under warranty due to it not being road wear but due to misalignment. I didn't understand how at one point it was under warranty, but a few minutes later, it wasn't.
So I asked to speak to the manager. They told me he was busy working on another vehicle. I asked if he could call me when he got a moment, and they told me OK. About 20 minutes later, I got yet another phone call, and this time, they told me that they have a special deal for me. They have a $149.00 tire that they will give me for only $100.00 to make up for their mistake. I told them that I wasn't happy with that and that I wanted them to uphold what they had originally told me. They said no and that they were only relaying what their manager had told them to tell me--the same manager who had yet to call me back. I told him that I was on my way into Yuma, and I would stop in to talk to them.
The manager's name is Phillip, and when I got there, he was instantly defensive and basically talked down on me (much the same way I felt the prior two times I was in there). He admits to me that his associate did tell me that the tire was under warranty; However upon further inspection of the tire, they determined that in fact it wasn't road wear but an alignment problem and that his employee made a mistake.
I still didn't understand how they could not have all their facts straight before they called me. All I wanted was for them to uphold what they had originally told me. Phillip began to get loud and offensive in his own showroom in front of all his employees and customers and got in my face and told me in no uncertain terms that the tire problem was my problem and not his.
At this point, I realized what a bad mistake I made by going to this particular shop. I tried to get him to understand from a customer's stand point, in this bad economy, that great customer service is any retailer's bread and butter. He (Phillip) told me that if he put that new tire on my truck, and his adjustors rejected that tire, then he would have to make his employee pay for that tire out of his own pocket. How awful is that? At one point, he even told me that all I was doing was trying to get a brand-new tire for free! I came in there to get a nail removed for heavens sake!
I am 55 years old; it is not about money. At this point, it is the principle that I am standing on. I was told one thing, management didn't want to talk to me, and when they did, it was ugly. All I wanted was for them to understand that when you tell a customer one thing, you follow through with it. If it is wrong, then you stand by your company's good name and follow through with your word. They didn't do that! Then to add insult to injury, I wanted to get out of there, and I told them to give me my keys. They said that they had to take that "new" tire off my truck.
That's right, they had already put that new tire on my truck. Now they were going to take it off. They were going to put the spare on it. I didn't want the spare on it, as it is a larger tire. (I had put different rims and tires on it shortly after I bought it.) They refused to put the original tire back on, as they claimed that it is not a safe tire.
The only thing that they did was put a used tire on my truck and told me that they weren't going to charge me for it and made it sound like IU should be grateful. I am neither grateful nor happy. Yuma residents, be forewarned. Don't go tot the Big O Shop out in the foothills! I felt demeaned, embarrassed, cheated, and I felt like I was being talked down to. I now have mis matched tires on my truck. I have a trip to Tuscon next week, I travel alone. I know nothing about this used tire he put on my truck.

After I had taken my car, a 1991 Geo Prizim, to Wal-Mart for tires, I was told that a stud had broken off and they would not do the car for that reason. They suggested I take the car to Big O for the stud repair and then bring it back for tires. I then went home and called Big O to get a quote for the repair. I took it right in. I asked about tires there also and found that they were as much as the Wal-Mart tire and had a better warranty than the competition. So I got tires as well. During the repair, the technician had snapped another stud off on the same wheel.
Without delay I was informed of this, and I surmised that since the other stud was also a clean break that Wal-Mart was the culprit for the first broken stud and they didn't want to own up to their mistake so they refused to fix their mistake like an honest and accountable business should. David, the service rep at Big O said, "since we were the ones to break the second stud, we will replace that one free of charge." David and the Big O staff at this store were so good and honest to me that I will be a Big O customer from now on. Do Not change a thing about your service in this store. Others could learn from you about going the extra mile for the customer.

I would first like to explain that I’m a single disabled 50-year old and I live on an income of $650/month. So when a situation occurs, such as a minor (to most) tire problem, it’s one for me that is a major. It’s beyond what I could explain or have learned most don’t want to hear. In the past week I have had 2 flat tires. My tires were or are in needing to be replaced. One wont hold air the went flat from a nail.
It took me all day to find a kind friend to loan me $10 for the repair. I called almost every tire store on Fillmore except Big O. My minutes ran out on my phone. So I decided to pull into Big O which by then it was a half hour before closing. I asked what it would cost for the repair, and was rudely notified it would be $13.00. Yet the rep demeaningly said he would for $10. Took my keys and in 10 minutes he came out and said that it was not fixable and he wouldn’t charge me for the air. But when the employee who brought me my car when I was getting ready to leave he pointed out the wrong tire that I asked to repair. Leaving frustrated and about out of gas, I managed to drive my car to the next closest tire store and begged for help as they were closing. They were kind and quickly repaired my tire that indeed did have a nail.
I understand there is a rule that tire stores have to go by and legally they cannot say they the tire is fixed and "your good to go" when they have been asked to repair a tire that indeed should be replaced. But I had and still have to keep on going as one would say until I can find the funds or an angel to replace these tires on my car. This is trivial, I’m sure, to most, but to me it’s pathetically overwhelming. My complaint is at least look at the tire that the customer is asking to be repaired or state up front the liability was an issue and they will only repair good tires with nails in them. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to at least vent on what has been and still is a major problem in my life right now.

I took my Mustang Cobra to this store to put my winter tires, and rims that are already mounted onto my car. I had taken my car there on April 24th, 2009, to have the summer tires and rims mounted for the summer. There was no removal of the summer rims until yesterday, 12/14/09, during the previous 8 months. I received a call from the store, and they said that "they" could not remove a "lug" nut from one wheel because it was on too tight. I spoke with Mr. ** and he stated they might have to break the "stud" and he stated that if they did they would not charge me for the new “stud". I reiterated that these tire stores "torque" the nuts too tight and that was the problem because I have had the same problem at "Discount Tire".
When I went to pick up my car about 3 hours later, the sales person was charging me for the parts and the labor over and above the original order that was supposed to be $30.00 and had now become $78.29. That is when the sales person told me that the employee had broken "2" studs off because the nuts had been installed too tight. I refused to pay for this charge because they were directly at fault for the breaking of the studs per their own statements. After having a rather heated discussion with the sales person, I told him to just run my credit card so that I could leave. I have no problem with paying for the switching of the tires and rims as originally I took the car there for. I believe that their attempt to charge me for their employee mistakes is another example of bad business, and poor customer service. Also, the mistrust that we, consumers have in companies such as this is a prime example of why certain companies are a failure.
The salesman removed the original charges for the “labor” to replace the studs, but would not budge an inch on the replaced studs that they had to replace because of their lack of care for customer's cars, and the customer in general. Therefore, I had to pay for the new studs before the gentleman would give me my keys to my car so that I could leave. The Big "O" employees over tightened the "nuts" that caused them to break the "studs" that hold the rims onto the car! I was bullied into paying for their mistakes by paying for the replaced studs.

I took my car in for an oil change on 9/21/09. I noticed my drive way was with a puddle of oil. I checked my oil and it was approximately 4 qts. of oil low. I replaced the oil loss and my wife took the car back to Big O Tires the following day 8/27/09. When my wife took the car in, she spoke with the manager Lon ** and told him I think the oil drain plug must not be tightened because our drive way has a lot of oil spilled. After an hour waiting, the mngr. said that was not where the leak was coming from. He then asked if I wanted to wait or need a ride home till they figured out where the oil leak was coming from. I (Cathy) said they could drop me off at home and call me when the problem was found. Approximately an hour half later the manager Lon called me and said there were two leaks. They found one which they were able to tighten and fixed the leak the other leak was due to.
I needed to replace the intake manifold gasket which is $64.95 and the needed labor was 3.60 hours @ $93.70 per hour for a total labor cost of $337.32. Lon the manager said I should get the intake manifest gasket replaced asap because I could damage the engine from loss of oil and that would burn up the engine. Lon, the manager, also found additional work needed on the strut rod brushing, left and right side @ $27.50 each and labor of 1.50 hour @ $93.70 per hour, totaling labor cost to $140.55. I asked the manager how could this part need to be replaced because before the oil change, I didn't have any oil leak problem. Lon the manager said due to the car being 18 years old, it was wear and tear.
After picking up my car, I took it straight to our mechanic shop AA auto and spoke to our mechanic Fernando, explained the problem to him and gave the paper work that I received from Big O tires. My husband later in the afternoon picked the car from AA Auto and the mechanic Fernando told my husband (Jim) that it looks like the oil filter was loose because right below it was covered in oil. He cleaned it up and then he checked the intake manifold gasket and didn't see one oil leak and said that was definitely not the problem. Fernando the mechanic then replaced the oil loss and ran the car for an hour and didn't see any oil leak after. Fernando the mechanic @AA Auto said the car should be fine but driving the car with low oil may have caused permanent engine damage.

I took my sister’s car in for tires to the San Jose Parkmoor store, which turned into tires and struts. We did not deny that the struts likely needed to be changed at 100K. We agreed to the added work. We went to pick up the car and they only had one new strut in front; as per the store, "They shipped the wrong strut for the right side." Why weren't we called before you installed just one new strut? Struts and shocks are always changed in pairs and always balanced on passenger cars. He suggested getting a different strut for the missing one (at added cost to us, of course), which would be of different type and therefore different suspension ride.
That will make the car unsafe and could cause uneven tire wear. I find it absurd that the owner of the store (Emad) would even suggest something that might lead to vehicle handling or possible accident. It is also absurd why he did not call us before installing one strut and thinking that would be okay for us to wait or refund the difference. We agreed to wait for the replacement (that I already paid for) to come in. It’s been 3 weeks already and today we were told it'll be mid July ’09. Do I trust if this is true? Absolutely not. Avoid this store like the plague. They do not know what they're doing and do not know what customer service is. I see a lot of complaints on Big O store in general - hindsight is 20/20.

I have taken my car into Big O for tires and oil change services quite often. I was told at my last visit that I needed to replace the oil pan in my 2005 VW Jetta. I asked the tech when that needed to be done, he said by the time my next oil change was due. I decided to get a second opinion and took my car to our local VW dealership; they evaluated my car, did my oil change and told me "your oil pan needs to be replaced due to poor mechanical services provided elsewhere, where did you take your car?" I explained to them that I had taken my car to Big O Tires and they had offered to fix it, little did I know Big O was the problem all along.
I ended spending over $600 in repairs because my extended warranty wouldn't cover faults by a mechanic. I feel like Big O is responsible for doing poor service on my car. This is not the first incident I’ve had with them and I’m not happy. I ended up needing a whole new oil pan and was charged $637.29 in parts and labor.

I wanted to provide this positive comment specific to the Redding California Big O Tires store. Sometimes, these big chains can vary a lot between different locations. I have had my 1990 Chevy truck in on two different occasions to this store and found them to be honest and cost competitive. The first time, I had my tires rotated and balanced. They did the job quickly and professionally and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need.
The technician pointed out some accelerated wear on the outside of the front tires and suggested an allignment might be needed. The tires did show some uneven wear and I had my wife take the truck back a month or two later for an alignment. They checked the specs and reported that the alignment was good. There was no charge. They could have easily charged me for an alignment that I didn't need, but they didn't. I'll go back to them next time.

On 6/6/09, I went to Sears and had my brakes serviced, my tires were rotated. All was well, I thought. One of my neighbors was checking my car for me and noticed something was not right with my tires. He checked the notice on the inside driver wall and the label stated my rear tires required P255/45R17, what is on my car are 235/50ZR17. According to specifications my rear tires should be P255/45R17. There is a caution note in the driver’s manual stating that: mixing tires could cause you to lose control while driving. Also, mixing tires on the vehicle could cause damage to my car. I went back to Sears and told them they did not rotate the tires properly and found the size difference. I am going back to Big O Tires this morning attempting to straighten this out.

I brought a newer tire in to be serviced that had a nail and was losing air pressure. I had the tire off of my car and brought it in by hand. The tire I brought in was a Big O Tire brand. After showing it to the manager, he immediately told me that the tire could not be fixed. The manager then proceeded to tell me it would cost $105.00 for a new tire. I asked the manager why the tire could not be fixed, and he told me to read the sign posted on the wall. The manager also told me that no other store would fix the tire as well. I left the store and went to Costco Tire Service.
I walked into Costco and was immediately told the tire was fixable and would cost me $14.00. After waiting approximately 45 minutes, I was given my tire and left. I went back to Big O Tires and showed the manager my receipt, telling him that I was able to procure another service department to fix my tire for only $14.00. The manager told me that if I didn't like his service that I could call corporate headquarters. I asked the manager why the tire couldn't be fixed at his store, and again he told me to read the sign posted on the wall.
I advised the manager that on numerous occasions, I had brought my vehicles in to have the tires serviced only to be told that I needed new tires. My rotors were bad and not up to specs (even though I'd just replaced them at another store and they did not know this), and I also at times needed brake pads (even after replacing them myself one time prior to having my tires looked at). The manager simply told me, “If you don't like it here, then don't come back.”
The only consequence of this incident was I informed the manager that I would no longer be coming back to any Big O Tires store to have my tires serviced. It cost me my time to go back and forth from one store to another. I usually am told by this particular store during any time I need tire service that something else is wrong with my vehicle. When telling the manager that I had just replaced whatever the problem was (brake pads/rotors), his only response was to laugh at me.

There was a noise in the cover on the center of a rear wheel but I just assumed it was a faulty cover. I took the car in to have snow tires installed at Discount Tire two months after the purchase. I have been satisfied with their prices and work on two other cars in the past. They did the installation but told me the noise was from TWO lug bolts that were stripped in the hub.
I had to have a new hub and bearing replaced at a cost of $430 at a repair shop where I have real confidence in their work. I contacted the previous owner and he verified the information and the fact that Big O had been the last place where that wheel was off the car. He is an attorney and offered to approach Big O at no charge to me because they had damaged the hub when he owned the car. I'm deciding whether I want to go that far but decidedly I will NEVER recommend Big O to anyone and intend to pass on my story whenever I can…

Then they insisted I replace ALL my tires (even though one was only 2 months old) so I did end up replacing 3 tires and kept the new one which was just like my original ones. They also insisted on my paying to get them aligned even though I never had an alignment problem but I believed them when they said it was off but you can't always tell so I did.
After about $1500 later, I got my car back and the alignment was totally off! I went to another Big O and they fixed it but just a few months later, one of the new tires blew out on a road trip. Apparently their stock tires are cheaper because they sit on the shelves and get old and weathered and don't last very long. They then proceed to tell me that the two tires I purchased from them a little over a year ago, need to be replaced as well. I promptly informed them that I purchased the very tires from them less than 15,000 miles ago with a fully written FULL WARRANTY including a NO-PRORATED ROAD HAZARD at 80,000 mile rating.
The sales agent begins to inform me that the tires are no longer under warranty because it appears that the alignment is out of the car, thus causing the tires to be excessively worn. I informed the sales agent that THEY performed an alignment on the car when the tires were installed. The sales agent informed me there was nothing he could do.
I then asked him what the price of a new replacement tire for perfectly good tread tire that was flat, he quoted me $180 and some change. I asked him why the price was so high, and was informed that it was the only tire they carried in stock, and the ones which were on my vehicle (being a $30 cheaper) were not available any longer.
I told the sales agent that I would take my car and call him later. I proceeded to go next door to the garage which I have my routine maintenance performed, and asked them to check the alignment on my car. YOU GUESSED PERFECT SOUND!Tomorrow morning, I will call Les Schwab and take my business to them. I know what your thinking why not take it to upper management and force them to remunerate me for the defective tires and own up to their fraudulent lies?
The fact of the matter is, it would only aggravate me further knowing one day when my tires need attention again, that I would be forced to come back and deal with the same unethically minded crooks.

The employees have repaired flats for free of charge and have always been courteous and fast in their service.

In March of 2007 I purchased four new tires from the Big O Indio location for my 1996 Volvo Station Wagon. I did not buy their Roadside Hazard Protection because Andy assured me that the manufacturers 45000 mile warranty was sufficient to cover defects in the tires I bought. In June of 2007 I brought the car back because the two front tires were BADLY worn. After inspecting my vehicle I was told that I Must have hit something in the road causing the alignment to go out. I purchased the premium alignment (6 month 6000 mile warranty) so they did the alignment again, but charged me for one new tire and two installations (Andy gave me one tire for free).
In May of 2008 I took my car in to Big O Bermuda Dunes for rotation and balancing. The car shook worse after balancing than before. I shortly returned and was told that three of my tires tread were seperating and that they have to be replaced. The technician advised me that there was minimal wear on the tires and this was due to a manufacturing defect and not any kind of road hazard or my driving. They quoted me for new tires and Installation. I told the service manager that I had purchased the tires about a year ago from Big O and that I have had problems with that type of tire before. I was told that the tire type I purchased was discontinued and that if I had bought the Road Hazard protection it would be easier to get me a discount due to the fact that my odometer is broken. I was told that since I could not prove how many miles were on the 45000 mile warrantied tire the best they could due was refund me $5.00 per tire. After looking at my reciept it stated that manufacturer warranties are based on tread depth.
I went back to Big O reciept in hand and was fed the same disclaimer about mileage and road hazard protection. I then went to three diferent tire vendors (Goodyear, Pep Boys, and Americas Tire) and was told that tread depth is the Industry Standard for warranty whether it is a bike tire or and automobile. Americas tire was the first to note that the tires for my car were obviously the wrong tire for a Volvo Station Wagon due to the weight limit of the tire. The tire size was sufficient but not the load classification. Larry at Americas Tire Indio related to me this is why there is tread seperation and uneven wear on all tires because the tires they sold me were never intended for the vehicle for which they were installed. I bought four new tires from Larry and he gave me a good deal on the correct tire for my car.
I needed to replace 4 tires after little more than one year and less than 12000 miles wear. Total cost with alignment $350.00

Jan. 31, 2008 ,a cab driver informed me my right rear tire was flat. With the 'donut' on I 'hobbled' to Big O where they told me the tire had been ruined. I was asked 'what did you hit'? etc. I didn't hit anything and haven't been able to understand how a rear tire would blow out before a front one, even if I had hit something. They replaced the tire and charged me for the replacement. My contention is that the tire was either faulty, or installation wasn't properly done. I'm done with Big O and will never go back, or recommend them to anyone else. Discount Tires replaced all four tires with a good quality Goodyear tire, compliments of their district manager.

I arrived at the store at about 5:35pm where I was given a surly greeting by a man behind the counter who asked me to wait over there while he finished a personal conversation with another man.
When he acknowledged me I told him about the problem and that I would soon be getting on the freeway for the 90 minute trip, in the dark, to my home. Further, I told him that if I broke down on the way home, I would be in an area without cell phone service. I reiterated to him that all I needed was some air to which he said, you've arrived too late in the day, we can't help you. The store hours are listed as 7a-6p and I would have gladly stayed late and paid someone just to get some air. Perchased four "legacy plus" touring tires, supposedly the best they had for my Honda Odassey. After going on the highway the following day the entire van shook. the tires I replaced were Michelens and they were very smooth. The next morning I went back in to Big O and told the store manager the problem. He pulled the tires and rebalanced all four tires. He said 3 out of the four tires were out of balance. His reasoning was the balancing machine was out of calibration.
The problem I had, was I was leaving to drive back to Iowa that morning, I didn't have the time to be messing around with something you would expect to be pretty darn simple. So off I went with my wife and 4 children all under age six. Right away I could feel the van shake, It was diffeernt than before, it was now comming from the back tires. I drove through Utah into Wyoming and decided to stop in Rock Springs to have the tires replaced with another brand.
The Big O tire guys in Rock springs said they couldn't replace my tires for another brand because they didn't carry another brand. But they could put the tires on this nifty little machine and see if the tires were bad or if I was an ultra sensitive nut job with some kind of fixation for wanting to drag my four little children and wife into a filthy hole to sit and get stared at by cowboy/grease monkeys for an hour. The machine they used was a road force measurement system. All four tires failed the test.
The shop in Rock Springs replaced the tires. I was on my way. Back on the highway the new tires seemed ok...for a while then some shaking started again and progressively got worse over the next few hundred miles. But it wasn't as bad as it was and its not as good as the tires I replaced. Bettendorf Iowa dosn't have BigO tires. So now I have to drive 70 miles to give them there tires back.

I had driven the car for 6,000 miles and went back for tire rotation but tires have been showing cracking all around the sides.
After 14,000 I notice a bad splitting along the bottom side of the front driver side tire, so I became worry and called Art about it and said it will be pro-rated for normal wear and be replaced. Since I am now in Nevada and I felt that it will be dangerous to travel the tire long distance, I decided just to deal with another Big O in Las Vegas.
I was disappointed when the manager told me that I bought an old outdated tire based from the DOT number of the tires. One or two were 5 years old and the others were 6 years old that should not be sold as new. After the final inspection and evaluation of this other tire manager from another Big O, it was then suggested and concluded that I actually bought a set of used tires that may have been driven already between 6,000 to 7,000 miles. That then now made sense why that sudden abnormal wear. This Art are still insisting that he had sold me a set of brand new tires w/c also indicated in the receipt.
I tried to be reasonable to pay some cost for the exchange but he became so defensive and firm that I have to pay whatever the other Big O dealer are now charging me for replacement. I paid $550.50 plus $200 on a supposed-to-be brand new tires that he claimed before was $300 each a year ago.
