It was a little challenging dealing with Soleeva on scheduling their reps' visits. There was a lot of misconnections on it and there were days that they were 100% going to be there, then it ended up that they couldn't be there. But overall, my experience with them was good and I would recommend them.

I called Soleeva and set up an appointment for them to give me more details. I had a Zoom call with one of their sales reps. They explained the whole process. They asked me about my bills then to download the information from PG&E. I provided the information and sent it to them. Based on that data, they looked at my current utilization and asked me about what my future growth looked like. Based on that, they suggested a solution which seemed decent. Their prices were not the cheapest but competitive. After they installed the system, we waited for the city to inspect and clear it. That took a bit of a time, but nothing specific on Soleeva’s side. Soleeva came from a validated source of a friend who used them and my experience was positive as well. I'd recommend them.

Updated on 02/21/2024: Soleeva has a nice app wherein people can see an individual solar panel, including the daily, monthly, and yearly data. Plus I can go to PG&E and I could see it on their website as well. The panels are not necessarily putting out as much as I thought, although it is also winter. There's a lot more clouds and rainy days, and it's even pouring here right now, but the panels are working. My bill has definitely gone down.
Original Review: The presentation was all over the phone and Soleeva produced the drawing. They were able to take the pictures from Google Maps and show me the roof. They did that pretty good and they were pretty quick in responding. I felt a little pressured to get it done right then. But I understand that the net metering thing was about to expire as well when they signed me up. It was either get it done that week or I wouldn't be in the net metering. Other than that, it was a good experience. The rep I worked with was quick with getting back to me and following up. I was happy with that.
It took a while for all the permitting through our city but when they came to install it, it was done in a day. That was really quick. But they said it would take six to eight weeks to actually have it hooked up after it was installed. Eight weeks later, I called back and asked them why it wasn't getting installed and it was because they hadn't paid the inspection fee for the permit. After that, it was two weeks. That part I thought was a little slow. They didn't follow through until I followed through. But they were probably busy and other than that, they've been really good. So far, everything looks really professional. The only thing is the frame is of a different color from the solar panel itself. The other ones I've seen down the street are black and black and this one is like black and silver or black and gray. It's nothing huge at all, though. It's just being nitpicky.

The enrollment was pretty quick. The person I was engaged with was Mark and he provided me all the details and the process. He described everything and it was pretty smooth. But my process is a bit slow. There was some issue with my meter, so there's a confirmation which is pending from PG&E’s side.

Soleeva was saying they had a unique system, that it's better than their competitors. I got the system at two of my sites but it wasn't working the way they said. I reached out to them many times. They said they're gonna get it fixed. They fixed one of the systems, but still it's not working like what they promised. They have to figure it out. They have to make sure they deliver what they promised to the customer.

Soleeva's service seemed good. Things went smooth and well. The installation was in a week. But the overall process took six months because of multiple other factors.

The reps have been very responsive, and installation needed no involvement from my side at all. They came, installed, and it was a breeze. From the beginning till date, my experience has been very good. I contacted Soleeva in September for something and they quickly responded. Plus, I know they are there.

It is great to hear your installation process went smoothly, Sanjay! Please don't hesitate to reach out for any future requests or concerns.

The time management with them was not good. It took a few months. There was a lot of back and forth. On the day of installation, there were two panels that were not working. And they are still down to this day. I've made numerous calls for them to come to repair it. It still hasn't happened yet. They were very hard to get ahold of. They were either closed or nobody would answer. But they helped me with the financing. That part was good.

Soleeva's price was good and so was their service. They had a representative named Yen who was extremely responsive at all times of the day. I was very happy. The installation went as planned. The crew was very receptive and they did everything I asked. If somebody wants to install solar, I recommend Soleeva. The energy generation is fine.

We appreciate the time you spent to share your feedback and are happy to hear the we were able to provide the solar panels you needed.

The rep whom I was working with helped me understand the different processes and she was pretty patient with me. I was looking for different loan options, and she was trying everything that was possible. Plus their price was competitive. Understanding the different components, configuration of solar panels and how my loan is gonna help the sizing of the system was okay. But when the engineers took over, I did not have a very smooth experience. I had 13 panels and they broke those up into two segments. One was on top of my second floor and the other was on top of my first floor. I had a lot of questions around that, and there was no one to answer them.
The sales rep was trying to connect me to the engineers, but I never got a satisfactory answer as to why the panels were divided. Also, when the engineers came, they gave me prior intimation but they never confirmed on that. Suddenly, one day, the installer showed up and I had questions. It was a mess. The installation was fine, but I had so many questions and there was no one guiding me through the process. Even after the installation, there are certain things about the app that I have questions about. There is also no one to answer those.
The cost was not bad what not great. They're as per market. Now, I don't have any bills to pay for my electricity because I'm producing more than I am consuming.

I did a bunch of research into different solar options because we needed a new roof for our house. I was researching solar panels and I was trying to find one that had the technology that could be self-cleaning and the only one that has a patented option for that was Soleeva. Their customer service was really nice. His name was Robert. He was very helpful. He came out and explained the process, and we went through it. Once we did the agreement, it took longer than I expected. Part of that was because it was the holidays and there was a lot of rain. It was pretty wet that year. They got backed up essentially. So, the contract ended up taking longer than I expected for them to finish the work.
We asked Soleeva for a contract. We said, "This is what we wanted," and they gave us an estimate and we agreed to it and that was what we paid. The installation was fast. It was really easy. The roof was put on within three days. The solar was put in right after that. So, within a week, it was all done. The city inspector came out and checked the work. They had some repairs that need to be done for city code. So, the guys came out and got it changed, and then it was all fine and it was online. There is an app that shows the daily activity and it says how many watts we're making as historical data goes back to when we first had it installed so we can get an overall summary of it and correlate it with our PG&E statements. So, that works.

Hi Bryan, We are glad we were able to provide the panels you were looking for. Thank you for taking the time to write a review, our aim is to always provide the best solar panels for each of our customers!

Why we are upset: The installation process has taken far too long. The first payment was made on December 2, 2022 and that after at least a month or two of discussion of the project. Seven months later, the crew arrived to install. The payment for installation was made on 6/15/23 and then nothing was done until mid August. The final payment of $1000 was made August 18, 2023, but still the system was not operating so that we missed out on an entire summer of solar intensity. On September 28, 2023, someone finally showed up to install the internet connection. I have yet to receive confirmation that I can monitor our usage or be sure that it is actually working. In addition, whoever is responsible for contacting the consumer needs to be in contact with the installers. The phone and text people did not seem to know what was going on on the project site.

The installation was smooth. They installed the system over a few days. I was impressed that they seemed to be really conscious of the quality of the installation. I had a Mexican tile roof, the curved tile roof. We knew from the beginning it was gonna break a lot of tiles, and that was one of my concerns. But they took it really seriously and they replaced 200 tiles. At one point, I commented that the tiles that they had replaced were a little different color. Some of that was sort of natural fade but some of it was it was a different tint. I was willing to live with it, but the guy that was inspecting on behalf of Soleeva said, “No, we'll take care of that.” A week later, they came out and replaced all the visible tiles that had been a different color. That was 20 tiles and I was appreciative that they took that seriously without me even asking.
The system is acting exactly to what they had predicted in terms of the output. We're real happy with the system. I'm happy with Soleeva. They've done a great job. I was doing it right at the time that California was going through the transition to NEM 3.0 and I got lost in the shuffle for a month on the application to go live with the power company. They said, “Oops! We thought we submitted you but we hadn't.” I was a little disappointed, but they jumped in and reimbursed me for the last month of power on the purchase price. So they took care of it.

Hi David, Thank you for the review. We are very glad you had a positive experience regarding installation and roof repair.

The representative was very warmhearted lady, and she was very hardworking. I very appreciate it. Soleeva can finish the installation in one or two days. But because it was depending on PG&E, there were delays. It was horrible. The most ridiculous thing is that we already live in our new house, but we are not in PG&E network, although we use the electricity every day and the solar also works. PG&E didn't send me any bill at all. The new policy is in favor of PG&E, not the customer. In the new policy, the customer needs to give PG&E more money. We are punished by installing solar. If you generate electricity through them, they just give you very low rate. It's ridiculous. Soleeva was not familiar enough with the procedure and the new policy

Soleeva's customer service rep was very involved and I appreciated how much communication I got in terms of filing the paperwork with the government. They were not with them, but it was to get PG&E to do the swap and to get it set up with them. But I was not communicated with enough when it came to the practical specifics about how the solar was going to be installed on our home. And I feel like things were done in a way that resulted in negative visual impact and potential damage to our home.
Other than that, I first reached out to them in September of last year then I got an email for a video appointment consultation. I had the consultation then the loan paperwork was being filled out as of 9-15. In terms of the NEM follow-up from PG&E, I received my first email from PG&E on 11-16. And by 12-6, I was set up for the solar to be integrated into my system. So, overall, the process took about three months.
We have had the solar installed for almost a year this month and so far, we've had a lower monthly bill since the panels had been turned on. I work from home, so I'm using a fair amount of electricity, and we opted for an adequate number of panels to support both that and future switching of major home appliances to electrical. And despite that, it has consistently been significantly cheaper. Aside from that, I would give an honorable mention to the fact that the panels have a proprietary hydrophobic coating that makes them stay clean.
Also, Soleeva did a minor damage to our roof upon installation and the first group that they sent out to fix that did not do a good job both in assessing or fixing the problem. And ultimately, they had to use a third party contractor to do the work. But nothing came out-of-pocket for us. They handled everything, but it needed six weeks and the repainting of our dining room ceiling. So their customer service reps were trying to do right by customers, but potential additional training is needed for their installers.

I used to produce around 80 kilowatt but since going solar, I'm down to 60. I tried to call to Soleeva to see the defect but they have not gotten back to me on that. They have not sent someone who can check or monitor their panels. Other than that, they're okay for people.

The rep who helped me got back to me promptly, which was a big reason why I went with Soleeva versus other companies. They were very responsive, which was very important because I wasn't sure how much problems we're gonna have or not have. Also, they were flexible enough with price and we were able to negotiate certain things. The guys who did the installation had one bad panel, but they noticed it and they actually didn't try to install a bad panel. They came back the next day. Since having the system, the generated amount matches what they promised and I haven't had any failures. I have it almost a year now. And they're supposed to guarantee the performance so if there's a failure, they're supposed to cover the difference in cost. That was kind of a big deal because if system is broken, they stand by their repair.

Thank you Mark for the positive review. We genuinely appreciate it and are glad you are happy with your solar panels.

Soleeva isn't the cheapest, but they are the most reasonably priced for some of those services that they offer over the long-term. They have a 30-year warranty for the equipment. They also have a special kind of coating that you put on the solar panels that's supposed to make them last longer against dust and wear and tear. The product they've done so far is good. A lot of the people I worked were very pleasant and helpful.
There was a mistake that my contractor had made that ruined one of their wires. The fault was on our side but the cost that Soleeva gave to repair that wire seemed outlandish to me. I was looking for someone to be a little bit more flexible with their pricing policies. The project manager was very unhelpful. This guy was very reticent with information. He would not budge at all from his stance. It was very frustrating to try to get something worked out that I felt was more reasonable. I wrote a letter to the CEOs and complained. It took a while but they came back with a more reasonable price in the process. I just had to circle back with them four times to get it done. There's still one more piece that Soleeva needs to install to get the battery hooked up. It has gone slowly and that's another frustrating part.

Installation-wise, our experience with Soleeva was perfect. It was completed in about a day and a half. But communication-wise and the follow-up, I would give that a much lower rating. Signing up was easy and fast. Nadia specifically, is the one we were back and forth with. She was fast in getting everything started. We did went back and forth with her and what her recommendations are, what our needs are, and how much power do we need. She gave us the number of panels and the number of kilowatts that we were gonna need because we're building another ADU. We're gonna need a lot more source, so we did. Initially, she was recommending to put in 11 plus kilowatts. So, then we did apply to PG&E. It was a long time pending. Me and my wife followed up but PG&E are not allowing that much of a solar power. So, we had to decrease it to nine point something for us to be able to use it. We had to turn off a couple of them.
As soon as they were done with the installation, they just told us, "Just wait for PG&E to upgrade the transformer. And that's the only time it can be turned on." That was a year and a half ago and still, we are pending, and we're still working with PG&E. Nadia gave us a representative from PG&E just a couple of weeks ago but if we don't email her, we are not gonna get any email back from her. The system is working now, but we're at nine point something. So, a good amount of our solar is still turned off. All the investments that we put in are still turned off. So, it's not the plan that we had initially.

The customer service experience from Soleeva was fantastic. It was good, organized and responsive. Over the last 18 months, we've had additional work done and sometimes it's good. Sometimes, it's just okay. You don't always get a response and you have to push and prod them. But in 2018, it was just absolutely fabulous. Recently, there’s been some miscommunication. It's not terrible, but it's just not like it was. We added a battery backup system and then, we added some additional panels. There were some issues with the electrical work and responding to our concerns. But it all got resolved so it's not like anything wasn't done. We weren't using a lot of energy to begin with but our cost went down. So, there was some improvement.

From 1 to 10, Soleeva is 8. They promote a solar panel that is self-cleaning, but it’s not. They say that the total amount of the power will be 7 kilowatts but always have been less. The battery is very hard to manage. The software that use the battery is not handy. The app could be easier to use, with accurate measuring and better way to handle the battery. But they have a very good customer service. If I would need to do a solar energy system again, I would do it with them.

My house is fairly big and our electricity bills were ridiculously high. So, we wanted to lower that. I called Soleeva and they gave me a good quote and I worked with them. Everything was very smooth signing up with them. We enrolled in 2021 and they sent me a proposal. We were done signing the document in about 10 days. The rep was very responsive and good to work with. I had a problem with the installation a little bit because part of my house has a ranch-style roof and the installers pierced through that and they hammered it. But they fixed it. I wish I knew how to clean the panels. They say the panels are self-cleaning but the roof is very dusty. I want to organize someone to clean the panels at least once every other year.
I did a big research on Sunrun, SunPower, Soleeva and one more solar power company, and I liked Soleeva. The price of the product is very competitive and it was cheaper than the other quotes I received. The quality is great and the experience is good. We're very happy with Soleeva so far. We might be getting an electric or a hybrid car, and we might have to add some more panels.

Soleeva's reps explained everything and when I compared them with some other companies, I realized that they were doing much better and whatever they had was much better. Soleeva's price was reasonable, too. They put a roof and solar panels for me, and I was very happy with their work. They were very nice and all along when they put the system, whenever I was calling, they were explaining everything. They had to do something then wait for the city to come and approve it. So it took two months or so to complete.
We learned a lot about how PG&E, our electric company, works in terms of solar. We learned what is the capacity of our solar system, what to expect, and how to not to go over the limits or not to use more than we generate. I asked a lot of questions from Soleeva to understand this whole process because it's not simple. Even if you go to any electric company website to learn about this, it's very complicated. But they explained it. I also called the electric company and they explained some other things.
Everything was great and so far, our system is working very well. We have a swimming pool and the pump is using a lot of electricity. One of the reasons our bill was high was the pool and sometimes we were paying $400 not just for electricity, but the gas too. Now, it has dropped to $11 a month to our electric company for getting our generated energy to the company, and then returning to us. Then, we pay some money to gas which is $60 a month. Also, we have a lot of surplus because we are careful. Last year, we had 2,800 kilowatts extra at the time of the true-up. I even called PG&E and asked if it was possible to give it to somebody for free. They said no and that they would purchase it from me. That's a lot of work for PG&E to keep track of. Even though we have this system here, when I do laundry, I put them on the racks that I have. I don't use the dryer and I use it very seldom because it is using tons of energy.
Aside from that, we put these smart plugs on our refrigerators and other TV to see how much they are using. And from what we learned, we changed the refrigerator as well. So with all of that in mind, we brought the usage of the electricity down. Also, I'm keeping track of the money they gave us last year and the money we are going to get this year. It will be $270, so it's going to pay for five months of my electricity and gas bills, and it will be like it's free.
