In a CONTRACT, they have signed and my husband has signed, it states they owe us $868. Part of that amount is a rebate for going solar (in writing in a contract signed by both parties), and the other part of that amount is a payment owed to us for their clerical error in entering our address (payment is also in a signed contract), resulting in excessive power bills from the utilities company due to switching to solar. They have owed us this money for SIX MONTHS going on SEVEN with constant communication in attempts to collect. And constantly being told the check will be mailed the next day checks are sent out or that it was already mailed (has never showed up).
Robbie ** is an absolute joke, sarcastic, passive aggressive, condescending but worst of all, a LIAR. I sent a demand letter for payment, 7 business days ago demanding payment in 2 weeks. Which has been acknowledged, forwarded to the company lawyer, and then ignored. I have filed a complaint with the BCA, will now be looking at filing a bad business complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, state of California, state of Nevada (state the work was completed in), and any other avenue I can. We are now looking at pursuing this in the court of law in 7 more business days. DO NOT GO THROUGH THIS COMPANY!!! They have terrible business ethics.

This was a great experience overall. From the first call to turning on the new Solar Panels. I would highly recommend this company if you are interested in going solar. I specifically thought the salespeople were the best. They knew what they were talking about.

Thank you Duane for your great review! We pride ourselves on having an easy and professional experience going solar. Enjoy the savings!

Green Home's sales rep screwed me around. He got me the 200 and some dollars a month on the first loan thing we got and it took them forever to start on the panels and to get the roof done. He had to get me a reloan because it took so long to do it. So, now it cost me 300 and some dollars plus my electric bill and I'm paying just as much as I was before I had the panels. It'll be a year in October since I got the panels up and I'm not really happy. They're a little expensive, too. But the installers were great and I talked to them quite a bit out there about it.

Dear Daniel, we sincerely apologize for the delay you experienced in starting the solar installation process. Our sales department is well-versed in financing options, ensuring that customers are presented with all available choices before making any commitments. With your locked-in loan payment and anticipated rise in utility rates, you can expect to see significant savings in the near future.

Everything at my property was good. The communication was all there, but it wasn't saying the next steps or what I should expect. It never was the way they said, so that was a little disheartening. I was put off a little bit here and there. The rep was cool and good as far as trying to talk with me. But when there were three scenarios, I was only told there was one. With the timeline, I was not told that it might take longer or it was gonna be a couple of weeks. But it was two months later. I had to keep following up to see what was going on and make sure it was okay, and I'd have questions.
When I had a question for the local guy, it was like he fell off the face of the map. I never heard back from him. When they brought my solar panels out and dropped them off, we had extreme weather, and I thought these were sitting out here for four weeks. What if someone stole them? What if something happens to them? Am I liable for this? But there were no answers to a lot of that. That kind of pissed me off. I wasn't sure where to put them. I didn't know how big it was. Then I found out that it was just one pallet that was stacked about 5 feet high. I was also worried about where they were gonna bring the truck in. But the installation went pretty good.
Green Home told me that I was up and running. So I pressed on the internet thing that they sent me, and then the next day, it said, “Sorry. You’re no longer hooked up to the grid, but that's ok. You're still producing energy.” I did not have a clue that I wasn't hooked up with Excel yet. I just thought I was offline and everything was screwed up. So I contacted the sales guy because he was the one that set it up on the internet. But he never got back to me. I didn't know that they turned it on and then off the next day until Excel gave it the okay.

Dear Ann,
Ensuring a seamless installation process is our utmost priority. While some steps, such as obtaining permits, are beyond our control and depend on utility companies, they may contribute to a longer duration for the solar process. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused during the waiting period.

Green Home Systems was supposed to have the installation done in December, but we didn't get it done until the end of January. The installation people were not reliable and dependable on when they were coming. They would have somebody come in one day, do a few hours’ worth of work. That guy would disappear. They would have a guy come over again, do a couple of hours' worth of work, disappear, and we wouldn't see them for three or four days. I couldn't stay here. I prefer to be here when somebody's working on my home. I had a lot going on at that point in time, and we couldn't be here.
They reconfigured the solar panels because we had trees taken down out of the front of our house. And they would put some on the left. Our house is an L shape. And we would put a couple of panels on the left side of the house, but instead, they put them all on the front of the house because we took the trees out and we would get more sunlight that way. There were some extra rails, and my husband told them to leave them just in case something came up. Because it's always 10 years later, something would happen, and they couldn't get the parts. So, we would have had some. But they took it all. They weren't supposed to take it. I paid for the product.

Dear Mrs. Shappee, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced. We genuinely value your feedback and would like to understand how we can exceed your expectations. Is there anything we can do to earn a 5-star rating from you? Your satisfaction is our utmost priority.

My last energy bill showed a $50 credit in my favor. The process was simple with Green Home Systems. They helped in working out the placement and number of units. However, the installer wasn't told that I had a metal roof. That was something he didn't wanna pierce. That's something they might wanna look into in the future.

Dear,
Thank you for your outstanding review! We deeply appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts and the exceptional rating you gave us. It means the world to us!

They looked at our energy bills and determined how much energy we would use in general. Since the installation, the bill is $7 a month. For the most part, I've been happy. But there were a couple of issues after the system has been installed. One was when they delivered our panels and nobody gave me a heads-up. I had to help the guy unload them from the truck because they had no plan to do that. That was not great. I was late picking up one of my kids because I was doing that.
The other thing was they talked a lot about helping with the state and local tax things. I've reached out to them multiple times and I have not been able to get them to help me out. I was able to figure out the federal thing on my own, but I still haven't even gotten the state one done and I don't know what to do.

Dear Nathaniel,
We are thrilled to see that your solar system is up and running, not only benefiting the environment but also helping you save significantly on utility bills. Green Home Systems was the first one to get the work done. They were good in guiding me through everything. Having the system, the energy bill is way less. However, Green Home Systems could give a more accurate timeline and they could have better communication with their contractor. There were some times where things didn't get properly communicated.

Green Home Systems was good at first, but now, my system isn't working. The people that built the components of the system were able to look at it through pictures that I emailed to them and said, "Oh, I see the problem." They sent out an email detailing that, but it's technical jargon and I don't understand that. I forwarded it to Green Home Systems and they just keep telling me that, "No, it looks like your system is working fine" because the power is on. However, when the power to the grid goes off, then it won't be working fine. I don't know if they don't believe me or they just don't want to think of the problem.

Dear Mrs. Fitzsimmons,
We have thoroughly examined your solar system using Enphase, and we are pleased to inform you that no issues found. We diligently tried reaching out to you via email, phone calls, and even left voice messages. Green Home Systems was good at the beginning, and they tried to sell us this and that. Everything worked well. We're happy with what we did. We just wish we had somebody local and do it better, and we could have a better relationship. When they installed something, we didn't like it. They hired the local contractor. We still had a little portion we didn't pay, and we wanted to hold out. They harassed and yelled at us. We just gave up and paid them, but we're not happy with how they were handled. It was never resolved. It's still there. But it's workable.
They called us a few times to ask us to write them a review, and we kept telling them, "We had horrible work with you guys. You guys don't want me to give you guys a review." And they said, "Oh, my God, I'm so sorry. I'm gonna let my manager call you." But they never called. A few months later, somebody called, did the same thing. But it never happened.

In the beginning, the process was confusing because I'm not a solar guy. But as we talked more, they explained it a little bit better. As far as the paperwork, everything was in order. The people that I dealt with were hands on. They came to do the installation. Everything was good. They were good people to work around. They were quick. I'm used to people that I worked around cussing. But the Green Home Systems installers watched their manners and they were real good. Everything went pretty smooth. It's saving me a little bit of money. But I would like it to save me a little bit more. I've been up on the roof several times just to take a look and make sure everything’s not coming apart, the panels are lightweight and seemed pretty sturdy. The guy explained to me how they ran them through all kinds of tests, and that those are supposed to be one of the best panels that are out there.

Thank you so much, Roel, for taking the time to leave such a great review. We are beyond thrilled to hear that we could help you reduce your carbon footprint! The system from Green Home is not as good as I thought it was gonna be. Last month was the first time it's ever been that low with 138 a month, but I've gotten up to almost $400 a month on my billing on the electric and gas. It really hasn't changed. All through the time that I had it a year ago, it went up to almost 400 a month, plus I'm still having to pay for the solar panels. Then it came down to 183. I said, "Okay, that's a lot better, you know." Then it came down even further to 138 last month. But now, it went up to about 234 again and nothing's really changed in the house. It's still the same amount of people and the same things that we've always done. So, I'm kind of disappointed in that.
I was expecting my electric bill to be like 15, 20, or 30 bucks, but that hasn't happened. So, I don't know what's going on. I did call the solar place one time. I asked them about this, and they said, "Well, we'll have somebody give you a call." They never did. Some people came and they installed the system and they left. I never heard anymore until I called and then they said, "Oh, yeah, yeah. Well, we'll have somebody give you a call."

Green Home Systems picked up the phone and was willing to work with me. Everybody was very courteous and nice. They tried to work around the issues with the whole shipment with COVID going on. It was done and it was all pleasant. However, I am still waiting on the person who initially I signed the contract with to send me all of the documents and paperwork. I have not gotten a reply back on that. Also, currently, my system is down and I'm waiting for repair. There is a malfunction in the hardware of the inverter. There's supposed to be a work order in place since it was last Friday since I called. They said they would order the part and when it arrives, they would issue a contractor to come out and replace it.

I talked to a guy named Brian on the phone and he answered all the questions that I had just fine. He convinced me that was a good thing to do and that it was gonna cost me less per month to put up solar panels and pay for a loan than it would to just pay the electric bill I'd been paying. And that's been true. After talking to Brian, Green Home gave the account to somebody else called the designer. They took photos of my roof probably from Google and designed a little plan. They sent that to me by email and I approved it. They handled the permitting process and all I had to do was pay the permit cost.
I have an app called Solar Edge and I look at it daily. I know what average I like to make and on good sunny days, and I always go over that. There are some overcast days here on the coast where it's not near so good, but it averages out good. I can see how it compared to the previous year or the previous month. The solar panels have been very good and we've had it up for about three years. I am 100% satisfied with my experience with Green Home Systems.

The salesman hooked us up on the loans then supposedly sent the programs where they're $0 out of pocket. We got it but because of covid, it took a longer process than necessary to get the product. Once we got the product, another guy (Abner) who was the project manager took over. I kept in contact with him. But all of a sudden, I was not getting any text messages back from Abner after the panels were installed. Nobody from Green Home Systems told me that they either fired him or he quit, just like my salesman. I was left out in no man's land, trying to figure out who to talk to. They had two people that I dealt with that both quit. That was not a good sign.
We ordered in April of 2022. It got put in two weeks into October. We didn't get to turn it on till October 28th of 2023. I didn't get to bank any summer energy for the winter, so I ended up still having electric bills in the winter time. The biggest thing that sold me was zero out of pocket. But when this lady, Amy, called me from Carbon Solutions to get the incentive program for the State of Illinois for the solar panels, she told me I have to come up with 500 and some dollars. I told her that was not gonna happen. I gave them a choice. I said, “You either come get the ** off my garage, take it all down, get all your wiring out of my ground and take it all away, or you pay the 500 and some dollars.” Green Home Systems could be upfront and let their salesman be honest. They have to tell the customer that there's a $500 that they have to pay upfront. Amy said, "You're not the first one to tell me that they didn't tell you about the 500 some dollars.”
The product is awesome. The installer was awesome as well. But Green Home Systems could work on the communication gap. The installer was supposed to be here one day according to Abner. The installer was understanding that the material was coming in the next day. If he would have been in contact with me as the homeowner, I could have told him when the material showed up. Abner was very pleasant to talk to but he was just shooting an arrow into the air and wondering where it was landing. If they could give the installer the homeowner's number, that would be good. Also, I have tried to call Amy the last two days. I also left Doug, the project overhead manager of Green Homes, a text about the incentive from the State of Illinois. But nobody has called me back.

I wanted to take a moment to extend my apologies for the unpleasant experience you recently had with GHS. We take pride in our services and it's always disheartening to hear when a customer is not satisfied.

I'm mostly satisfied with Green Home Systems. There are just a few things that I was not aware of. The rep was a very good salesman. We sent Green Home Systems pictures back and forth of the home, told them how many square feet, how well it was insulated, questions like that that we texted. We replaced our electric bill. My one disappointment was REA still charges me $25 a month for a maintenance fee, which I didn't realize I would have to do that. REA has their limits about what they would accept back into their system. They accept it back, but they don't pay for it. But 25 bucks a month, that ain't much to have no electric bill. Also, I thought I would get to sell some back, but it has been even-steven every month. But the system is doing its job and what it promised.

Green Home Systems was willing to help us with the roof. With them, it was easy. The hardest part was they were working with Excel and Excel was the one that dragged their feet. Towards the latter part of it, they didn't communicate the lag in time. They stated it at the very beginning that they didn't communicate it as it was going on. They were gonna wait the full 60 days before they make their decision. Towards the end of that, I was calling them and they told me they were gonna wait till the very last day. That would have been something nice to know before going in that it was gonna be Excel and where I thought it was them not getting back to me. It was a long process because we had to get the clearance to do it through Excel. But after we got that clear, it was quick.
We met with two people. They took pictures of what they proposed. They sent someone out to give us a quote on what they could do for us and how many panels they could put up. They explained everything well. The team who did the installation showed up in the morning and were done within one day. They were good with my husband and explained all the wires that came down from the house into the electrical box, what the electrical box was and how to use it. They cleaned up afterwards.
It was a good experience overall. It's worth it. The bill that comes from Excel is 20 bucks compared to $200 or $300. The app shows us throughout the day what our overall kilowatt hours is and if we're using everything we're producing. The thing that I was upset about was when we first started in the proposal, they had told us that they were gonna give us a battery so that it charged with the solar panel and if we had an outage it would supply that as electricity. They didn't realize that that type of battery didn't work at our elevation. They told us if we wanted a type of battery that goes off the propane, they could work with us. That was their only choice of a battery instead of having multiple options. Also, I don't think I've received anything for the credit. They said we're gonna get this money back but the process of getting it and applying it was never there.

Good Home's reps seemed to be very knowledgeable in what they were doing. They were very professional in what they were making us aware of and we learned quite a bit. Everything we did with them was Zoom related but I was disappointed that there were some programs out there to help financing and I didn't find out as much as I would have liked to have found out before I made some commitments. We're located in Illinois and there were supposedly Illinois programs that were helping those that were doing it, particularly first time solar buyers. Other than that, I was very satisfied with my experience. With the solar power system, when you get your bills from the power company, they are substantially less. That's what you get into it for in the beginning and it appears to be accurate. Overall, we seem to have hooked up with a good company and it made it even more advantageous to save some money.

The sales rep of Green Home was very helpful and explained all the numbers and that was what I needed to hear. The installation was fine too. The longest part was getting the permit from my local power company and that still was not that long. They did a good job and it's been working really great, overall. I'm happy with it. I get a credit on the next bill. And I used to have, on average, during the summer months with the AC running full time, $500 bills.
I had a minor issue on the installation, where the installation crew hit a waterline that I didn't know was there that went to a neighbor's property. I had to get in contact with the sales rep because I didn't have a contact directly with the contractor that was answering a phone call and the people needed their water back. That was a little bit of a hassle. But the sales rep was able to get in contact with whoever they needed to. Once they did, they came back out here and got it fixed within 24 hours. I also had somebody check in with me a couple of months ago. I mentioned that a couple of the panels were showing lower rates, three of them, than the rest of them. All the rest of them seem to be working at capacity. That person said they were gonna follow up but I never got a follow-up on that.

He was very nice, and he would call and give us updates as to what was going on with our solar. The guy finally came out, and he put the panels up on our garage. We have two garages. With the biggest garage, they put the solar panels up. We haven't had any problems with it. He explained everything and we like it.
I'm well satisfied with Green Home. They're very knowledgeable in what they do, and they keep in contact with you if something goes awry or they're not gonna be here on a particular day. I appreciated they had to get the permits and make sure everything was right. The electrical panel that they put up on the outside is working. We didn't have any problems with the city or Franklin County with everything. A guy came out, inspected, and said everything was fine. They did do a good job installing everything. The guy that did the install took him a little while to get here, but it was raining. It was just due to the weather. Otherwise, everything went okay. I highly recommend them.

My house is up on a mountain in Pennsylvania and there's not a lot of contractors who build out solar panels in that area. So, the whole process was torturous. But the people I dealt with tried to help as much as they could, and I eventually got everything taken care of. I passed all the information to Green Home Systems and they were able to find somebody after a couple of months.

The reps were congenial and knowledgeable so I was happy. If I had any questions, all I had to do was call and they would answer them. They did a good job of explaining the tax credit. The guy who installed the solar panels was a local guy and he was knowledgeable and friendly too. He was a good dude and I had no problems with him. The panels are good. They each have their own units and everything is good. Green Home gave me a 25-year warranty on it. The snow on my solar panels is what caused my bill to be higher than usual. But that's the only one I've had. People should check out Green Home. See if that's what they want and who they want to install it.

Thank you for the fantastic review, Robert! We appreciate your kind words and are thrilled to have customers like you who value our service. We're committed to delivering excellent experiences to all of our customers and hope to continue serving you in the future.

The Green Home reps were looking at aerial views of the house and giving rough estimates of how many panels and how much it would cost, and they were close to spot on by the time we got to the project. They told me the approximate amount of panels I would need to the kind of energy efficiency I would want. Any amount of panels less than what we got would not be worth the cost because we wouldn't be getting anything out of it. And if we could do more, it would do more for us, but it'd be kind of excessive. So, we got 78 panels. During the summer, we don't pay anything in electricity and during the winter, it cut our bill in half. Also, we qualify for a tax credit from getting solar and it's paid out over four years, depending on what your tax liability is.
The installation was quick and easy. The Product Manager contacted us about two weeks out, one week out, and then the day before the stuff was delivered. It came on pallets. We didn't have to do anything other than make sure we had a good location for them to be dropped off that they weren't affected by weather where they were going to end up in place. The day after they were delivered, the installers came out and got started, and they were done within a week. Solar isn't necessarily for everyone, but if you decide that solar is for you, Green Home would be the people I would call.

The reps take my calls every time and explain things to me. The presentation, the follow up and the system are all good. The only thing I don’t like is I don’t see any savings when I use the solar panels. I called Green Homes and asked them why, and they said because I used more. The solar panels are supposed to cover everything I’m gonna use. They checked my bill before and installed the system to cover what I use. But I still pay almost the same thing. I paid $20,000 and it's not worth it to install solar panels when they're gonna save me $30 a month. And it’s going to be another $20,000 for the batteries. I’m very disappointed. I won't start another solar panel in another house.

The permits probably took three months but the installation was fairly smooth. My electric bill is the same every month now but I still pay for the solar. So, we're just not getting the inflation. I had to contact Green Homes when an inverter blew up. The repair took a little bit longer than I would have liked, but it was fixed. Everything has been good so far.

I liked the price and availability of Green Home Systems. They drew up a proposal and handed it to me. I had to answer several questions for them about my house and but it wasn't really that much. Their reps were very knowledgeable and professional. I like that. They offered one thing, and then I changed my mind on some stuff, and then I got offered something different that would work with what I was doing. They worked with me. As far as the federal income tax, they tell you you get the tax break, and I already knew that the way my taxes were, I wasn't going to really realize as much as what they wrote the documentation up for and what was built into my financing plan.
The installation left a little bit to be desired. There was room for improvement as far as when they were coming out, when they were gonna get done doing the work that they did, and the people doing the work. They had some delays in some things that had me a little bit concerned about getting everything done in a timely manner. The timeline I was given was very short. It was really done in a very small amount of time and it dragged out over several weeks. There were delays getting me hooked up. There were some delays in getting some parts. They didn't have something that they needed and there was some general confusion on some things.
Also, there's a little room to be desired, too, with their customer service team. I was never given any kind of an operating manual. I tried to get some information when the power goes out. How do I know if the power comes back on or if I'm still on the battery if my internet is down? One time, the power went out, but there was so much snow that my internet dish was covered, so I lost all internet. So, I had no way of knowing if I was back on the grid or if I was running on the battery, or if I had to be conservative. I have never gotten that question answered.
The app is pretty cool except when the internet goes down and I have no information whatsoever. I do have the battery. The reason I got the grid is because I have a battery backup system. So, when the grid does go down, I'm running off my battery. What I want to know is how do I tell, if the internet is down, if I'm on my battery, or if I'm on the grid because my usage of things differs drastically. Overall, Green Home Systems did a good job. There are a few things lacking, but they were decent. If I had somebody to refer to, I would refer them.

Dear Cheryl,
I wanted to personally thank you for your detailed review. At our company, we value customers like you exceptionally, and we are committed to doing everything in our power to ensure your satisfaction.

The proposal process with Green Home was very easy and streamlined, and it was a great presentation. Not knowing much about solar, it was a good educational experience. We negotiated a car charger as part of our promotion, which was what we wanted. We were dealing with the project management sector and they were well. Everything went without a hitch. The system was installed professionally. We deal with Edison and we haven't paid a power bill since then. So, it’s been good.

Hello David,
It was a delight to read your stellar review. We are thrilled to know that we could assist you in saving on your energy bills while you go green! Thank you for allowing us to play a part in your journey towards a more sustainable lifestyle.
