This is the most awful company that I have ever dealt with. Considering the fact that they deal with very sick people whose health is in terrible trouble, who have insurance and expect the insurance company that they deal with to be fair and accurate in dispensing their medications... they are horrible failures, horrible. Automated things answer the phones and when customer services come on after at least 4 minutes and repeat your name 7 times and thank you for your patience... they are no help at all.
We have had to call our representative to our insurance company every time a new prescription is written for my husband, and takes more than a week to fill and deliver. I cannot believe that our association uses Express Scripts and I hope they don't continue to do so. My husband is sick and the last thing I want to deal with is the ignorant, stupid, people at Express Scripts.

I have been without my medicine now for a month. Express Scripts received my prescription on 9-5-2015, and twice it was cancelled due to not having authorization from my doctor to dispense it (having a prescription is not enough at this business). Then they claimed to have mailed it to me on and tracking number says it was delivered to me on the 21st of Sept. It never showed up. Then on 9-25 15, a supervisor said I could fill this whopping $2.45 prescription at my local wal-mart. So I go to wal-mart today 9-26-2015 to pick it up, and find a hefty penalty attached to it. And I still don't have a refund of the prescription that was never delivered to me. It has taken me a month to date to get my medicine that I still don't have.

My doctor called Express Scripts twice to get 90 day supply of migraine medication for my wife. They kept claiming he hadn't called. They charged me for a 90 day supply twice and sent a 30 day supply each time. My doctor wrote a prescription for a local pharmacy so I would have meds while waiting for a 90 day mail order supply recommended by Express Scripts. I've gotten neither. We have both been without medications because Express Scripts employees dropping the ball or not caring. I'm so frustrated I could just **!

They send out prescriptions that are needed and do not send prescriptions that are needed even when you are on the no worry plan. They have removed one prescription on my no worry plan without telling me then failed after 3 times of my calling to order this prescription and was told they would send it they have not. I am now forced to call my doctor and have them get me a supply of this particular prescription at my local pharmacy. They also will charge prescriptions that I don't need to my card without me authorizing it. I am retired and do not have a spending account so they are taking directly out of my checking account which cannot happen. I have explained this several times to a customer service rep. and get the same response, "oh we are sorry", yet they continued to charge my debit card. I finally took my card off their file. They can invoice me up to $100.

Systematically they have taken each of my type 1 diabetic supplies away from my local pharmacy and have forced me to use their delivery. Most recently they, without warning, refused to cover syringes at local store requiring that I pay out of pocket for immediate medications and ultimately get my Dr. to submit new prescription for their mail order. Of course, they don't even have the syringes to ship. Can't order from them and they won't fund purchasing at local pharmacy. After 25 minutes on the phone, I am told to once again pay out of pocket for supplies while I wait for delivery. I am just learning now that Express Scripts manages our Veteran's supplies. Express Scripts you should be ashamed if this is how you are treating our veterans.

This is the worst pharmacy, they need to change their name. There is nothing express about this company. My medication came a week late. The customer service representatives are incompetent. All three representatives lied about the services I'd be receiving. I will never use this company ever again. They asked if I wanted to be billed? I told them yes, instead they charged my bank account anyway. My account is now in the negative, because they charged me, instead of billing me like they had asked me. What's the point of asking if I want to be billed if they are going to take the money anyway? The representative did not inform me the money would be taken from my account the same day. I'm very disappointed with #ExpressScripts.

Company started denying my refill requests until the last day. I refilled my prescription on 8/21/15 and they would not approve the refill till 9/22/15. This just recently started last week with another prescription. Before they would refill it within about 5-6 days before the 30 day supply would run out. I spoke with a supervisor and was basically lied to about this because I can go back through the history of my orders and show them when all the refills were done.

I had to call and get them to correct it before I could get any Refills.

My doctor ordered a prescription. They wouldn't fill it immediately for no valid reason, and put it on hold. I contacted my doctor. They tried to contact Express Scripts by phone, couldn't get through so they sent a fax. Express Scripts ignored the fax and canceled the prescription. I have to use this company, but they intrude between my doctors and me over a medication I've been using for some time. They don't have the right.

Express Scripts is the Department of Defense's mail order pharmacy for military retirees using the TriCare system. ES used to be a good company; simple, efficient and, in a word, bulletproof. Then they grew. I think they acquired another company, maybe more than one and service took a big hit. Then they rolled out a new website - it was AWFUL. And they rolled out another new website that was better than the FIRST new site, but not as simple and useful as the old one. Now they are rolling out ANOTHER NEW WEBSITE. Each new iteration gets more and more complicated and packs less and less information on a screen.
In the beginning, you could see all the medications you got from ES, when they were to be refilled, how many refills were left and whether the medication was enrolled in the automatic refill program. That was almost everything you need to know. But that wasn't "modern" or "high tech" enough, I guess. Now you have to chase all over the place to get that information. The IT department is in love with links - one page links to another which links to another yadda, yadda, yadda.
I think this has all been programmed by young software people who have never had a script filled in their lives. To them, it all makes sense and they don't seem capable of looking at their site from a user's point of view with that user being older, not tech savvy and just wanting to find out something about their medications. Somebody at the IT shop deserves to get their ass kicked for this nonsense. I put up with this crap since the copay with Express Scripts is lower than it is with a local pharmacy, but one of these days I'm going to get fed up and just go to CVS like the rest of the world does.

I have had issues since day one with Express Scripts! I have NEVER in my 62 years worked with such an incompetent company! I am filing a formal complaint with WA State Insurance Commissioner! When I had a refill due in the past, all I had to do was call the Pharmacy & pick up the SAME DAY! Sadly the company I work for now makes us use Express Scripts for our prescription. I have called 5 times in one day & have rec'd FIVE different answers re: the status of my refills.
I called Monday, 9-14-15, to order two refills to be filled. I spoke with Gloria in Reno, NV (in one of their call centers around the world). I told Gloria I needed these overnighted due to being out of meds by 9-18-15. She said no problem. She took my Debit # to pay for O/N delivery (they had wrong Visa # on file. In fact they were using my HSA card. I had told them many time my HSA card is for MEDS only not O/N delivery!). She told me I would receive my order on Thursday, 9-17-15. I became suspicious when I noticed no e-mails from EX Script re: my order and no charge on my Debit card for $21 delivery.
I called Wednesday to check on status & spoke with Zenia and she said I would not receive my order til Monday or Tuesday cus it was "still in process". She could NOT tell me why Gloria said I would receive 9-17. Now I am really upset! One of my meds I must take everyday or I could get very ill if I had to wait 6 more days! I went over to my sister's house & told her what had happened AGAIN with Express Scripts - she could not believe it! I called Express Scripts again & this time I had my sister talk to them. I was too upset to talk with anyone at that company.
My sis spoke with Dee & she actually gave me a Case # - **. She said they were waiting for a "barcode' before order could be processed. She also told me she would call in an order for a 7-day supply of my med. She said if I took it to the Pharmacy where I always got them in the past, they would see an order from Ex Scripts. Well, I went to Safeway & there was no such prescription on file with Express Scripts. HOW SURPRISING - NOT! The Pharmacist had to call my Dr. & request a 7-day refill. Now I am just waiting to see when I actually receive my meds O/N. This company is going to give me a heart attack!

Wish I could give zero stars. Absolute worst company I've ever dealt with. Complete incompetency, I sent in my prescription at the beginning of June, it's now September and I still haven't received it. They've sent the paper prescription back 3 times, the last two times it came attached with a form I've already filled out, they already had all the information they were asking for and had no rationale for sending it back. I live in a remote Alaskan village where this is my ONLY option. Now they say they can't refill it because the prescription expired. DUH, it's taken you guys 3 months to fill it, of course it expired! Now I've been without my Meds for 6 weeks and can't get a refill until I return to the lower 48 where my doctor resides. My quality of life has been severely diminished. I hate you Express Scripts!

For each phone call that I make to them I have to go through at least one ridiculous phone tree. I am transferred multiple times, and spend a minimum of 20 minutes on the phone. Two times in 8 months I have called very early to have my medication filled. On both occasions the company told me the medication was to be shipped and gave me a date. Both times the company stated to me that they hadn't received an order, then backtracked and said they did but for an unknown reason it wasn't completed by the rep who took my call. On the second occasion, because of a holiday I received my medication 2 days late. This is extremely serious medication but Accredo could care less. I've made attempts to complain, sent email, I get empty promises of "we're very sorry" and have yet to actually have told answers as to whom it was that screwed up and how it would be fixed. I have no choice but to deal with them. This is the state of Capitalist Health Care in the USA. 2 choices. Accredo or DEATH.

On August 22nd, 2015 I went to the Express Scripts website to reorder my 3 month supply of medication. Two days later I received an email stating my request was received. After that I received an email that the doctor has approved my RX refill and the "expect ship date" for my RX by Express Scripts would be the following day (Sept. 27th). Since that first "expected ship date", I received daily emails pushing the date to the following day. The following day would come with a new email stating shipment changed again to the next day, and so on. This happened every day for the next 7 days. Then, the status of my "expected ship date" changed from 9/3/15 to "We will let you know". LITERALLY!!!
On 9/4/15 (the following day) I was due to run out of my RX for my PM dose. I panicked and found a local doctor (the original prescribing doctor was out of the country) to write a new prescription that I could take into a local pharmacy to get an immediate refill so that I would NOT miss a dose. Had this not happened, I would be sitting here for the past 8 days WITHOUT my prescription medication!!! That would have been detrimental to my health to abruptly stop this medication! That's the crux of my story. So now let me add in the many phone calls I had with Express Scripts during this time.
I made 3-4 phone calls to this company during the first week when they would daily change my RX "expected ship date". My first call was to ask WHY the shipping date was changed daily. They repeated, "We apologize for the inconvenience. Your expected ship date is..." and they'd state the same date that was on that current day’s email notification. When I began to see that I'd be out of medication within 3 days, I called again. And again I received the same patronizing response, "We apologize for the inconvenience. Your expected ship date is... blah, blah, blah."
My third phone call is when I asked for a Supervisor. I was never given over to a Supervisor. Instead they allowed me to rant with no response. There was no successful resolution to the fact that I would be out of my medication in 3 days. Their only suggestion was that they could provide an "override" to my current RX to allow for a 7-day refill from a local pharmacy, but that my doctor would have to jump through the hoops of faxing over a new RX for the 7-day supply. Mind you, they stated this 3 times after me stating 3 times that my doctor was out of the country! They were like robots! They do not care!
I finally asked the representative, "Is Express Scripts out of my medication?" Their reply, "No. We have it. We just have a lot of prescriptions to fill." WHAT? Why is that my problem?? Do your job you were hired to do! To this date, the daily annoying email notifications stating my RX's expected ship date is "We will let you know" keep coming. Meanwhile, I have enacted the help of our Company's third-party health benefits advocacy group (Mercer). I told my story to a representative; wrote a letter to my Company's Health Benefits Dept. And 3 days later I have received no reply from either of them. This is the most mind-numbing and exasperating experience dealing with Express Scripts and I feel powerless. My choices are: Pay full price for my RX and bypass the horrific Express Scripts mail order service, or 2) Be healed by Jesus and NEVER have to use Express Scripts for any medication EVER again. I like #2 the best! :)

Like so many other unhappy customers of Express Scripts, I have been REPEATEDLY forced by their absolute ineptness to fend for myself when attempting to fill my medically necessary, life-sustaining, medication prescriptions. Unfortunately, my health insurance provider forces its clients to fill all of our prescriptions through this joke of a company or literally pay thousands of dollars out of pocket via a local pharmacy. Well, one of the many ridiculous problems is Express Scripts randomly will require a "prior Authorization" form be completed by my doctor before they will fill my medications. First off, these medications are absolutely necessary in order for me to stay alive. See, this is an issue when Express Scripts declines, seemingly at will, to notify me of this completely random new requirement of a medication I have been prescribed for years.
Not to mention all of their other numerous delays within their PROCESSING SYSTEM...such as a 2 week "processing" delay or their refusal to ship anything in an expedited manner just so they can save pennies on the dollar. All of these delays prevent my medications from being filled on time meaning I then run out of my medications which cause me an inevitable hospital admittance and short term stay in order for my body to receive the medications required to keep me alive. Should I be forced to miss doses of medication and set them aside in case Express Scripts has a delay? This is what I was told I should have done several times when I called Express Scripts attempting to locate my already delayed medications.
I truly do not think my Health Insurance Provider is going to be as lax and "understanding" as Express Scripts wishes we all be when asked to fork over the possibly tens of thousands of dollars this absolutely avoidable hospital stay will result in. My situation is similar to a Cancer patient being denied chemotherapy in a timely manner causing the spread of the disease resulting in their death. Apparently, I, and numerous others, are just a number and victims to the company's internal policies and ineptness. When questioned regarding their many internal delays and issues I was told to "Just call your Doctor and have them write you a partial prescription to get you by". Seriously?
Express Scripts wishes for me to attempt to "Persuade" my doctor to write an additional prescription for a partial amount of medication which is STRICTLY governed by the DEA and then they want me to pay out of pocket the thousands of dollars these medications cost because they cannot complete the most basic of tasks which they are being paid a ton of money by my health insurance provider to complete? Simply because of their own ridiculous internal practices of procrastination and, yes I will say it again, their own ineptness when it comes to the most basic of tasks. Well forget requesting to speak to a Manager or other Supervisor to assist you in addressing THEIR OWN errors! These morons will simply recite their inability to force these processes to a timely completion and then claim it is "out of their hands".
This company is an absolute joke and is run like some dime store side weekend summer job. The sad truth is that no matter how many hundreds if not thousands of people are mistreated in this manner absolutely nothing will change. Not as long as they are still making money off of their "clients" unfortunate reliance on modern day medicine to live. Very, very sad really! Please, if you have ANY other options for filling your medications, seriously exhaust them to the fullest extent before subjecting yourself to this nightmare.

The only thing that has stemmed my anger over Accredo is coming online to see all the complaints that have been written about them over similar reasons things that I've been dealing with. It's horrible to consider since this is a company whose decisions can greatly affect the health of their customers but at least there is some solidarity in knowing that I'm not alone. I've never written an online review or complaint about anything in my life, but this is warranted. My insurance changed about 4 - 5 months ago, as did my pharmacies. I have a chronic illness and take several different medications to manage it. There are 4 different medications that I have to get from Accredo every month and 2 of them are bi-monthly/alternating... so you can imagine the confusion that causes with this incompetent pharmacy.
Every month that I actually receive the medications that I need feels like a miracle because RX's are consistently being lost, orders disappear without any calls being made to notify of delays or problems, correct supplies are never sent, medications that require refrigeration are packed with very little insulation and ice packs, medications that do not require refrigeration are sent in oversized containers with a massive supply of ice packs, etc. I'll describe what has happened this week with the order that I need for this month as it is more specific and details a typical experience that I've been having with Accredo.
Last Wednesday, I order medications X, Y, and Z. X was not found in their database at all, despite the fact that I've gotten it from them in the previous 3 months... which is fine, I know I can get this one from a different pharmacy. I tell them to forget X, just send me Y and Z. Thursday I receive a package from them. It contains Y but not Z and they did not send enough supplies to dispense a month's dosage of Y. I call them back, new order is set up, they don't know why it wasn't right the first time. Friday, I receive Z but not the supplies that I need to begin taking Y. I call them again and I'm on the phone for the next two hours. I talked to 4 people in that amount of time and I had to completely describe the problem in detail to each new person they connected me with, apparently no one takes notes and none of these departments communicate with each other.
The 3rd person they connected me with was a pharmacist, who then had to connect me to some higher level customer support person, who set up my order for the supplies and assured me that it would be here on Tuesday next week. I told him it wouldn't happen, I've been through this before and I'll be on the phone with Accredo again everyday next week and there will be no record of this ever happening. He again, assured me no more phone calls would be required, he would write himself a note and personally see to it that the shipment was in progress.
I wait until Tuesday to call back. As I predicted, no records indicate that a shipment was ever set up... it was as if they were hearing me about this problem for the first time, nonetheless, I get another rep's assurance that it's all taken off, who wrote himself a note so he can check on it personally. I call the next day, Wednesday. They tell me that it is in the system and they are processing it, they can't get a tracking number yet but she said it will be here Thursday, guaranteed. Wow... this time, it was guaranteed! That made me happy... but just in case, I ask her to connect me with the last person I spoke to last Friday, the guy who assured me there would be no more phone calls required. He seemed higher up in the customer service tiers, he should remember the conversation we had and he should be able to give me answers as to why my orders keep disappearing.
Well, turns out this isn't possible, because they have a record of every person I talked to that day, up to the pharmacist. There's no record of ever speaking to anyone after that, no record of the guy. They can't even give me a name of who it may have been. More importantly, no accountability, no answers on this simple issue whatsoever. All I can do is wait and hope the shipment actually arrives. It doesn't and Friday I'm on the phone with them again and starting back at zero with a new customer service rep.
Now I'm told they can't send half the supplies because they need a new prescription (mind you my doctors office already sent them 2 in the previous months), but she can send half of my supplies... oh and conveniently she "found" the RX for medication X, which was found somewhere in their supplies list I guess? I should also point out that medication Y is always confused with W, which isn't even something I needed for this month.
I'm still waiting. The last customer service rep I spoke to wrote themselves a note to check up on this personally when they come back to work, great, haven't heard that one before! I've been without one of my medications for over a week now, my health is not improving as a result. No one at Accredo cares or knows anything. If something requires them to go "off script" they are completely lost.
I am amazed that a company this inconsistent and incompetent, has a responsibility over chronically ill patients and is still in business for the amount of time they've been up and running. Hopefully this company does not kill me. I am currently in the process of being approved for a new medication that will greatly improve my health. The medication costs a quarter of a million dollars a year. I was given a choice of pharmacy that could fill it under my insurance: Accredo or another one. Of course, I chose the other pharmacy, and I couldn't be happier that I actually had an option this time and that Accredo would not make any additional money from me as a patient.

Express Scripts received a prescription from my Dr. I received an email saying that they had received it. Only problem was the medicine wasn't a generic. I called them within the hour of receiving the email and told them I didn't want the Med, that I only wanted it in generic form. They said that they couldn't stop the process to stop the prescription. Online it said that the med wouldn't ship out for one week. I said, you can't stop it in a week. I was told maybe not. They never fill a new prescription for at least 2 weeks. I even had another med I had requested and order a week ago. The next day after talking to them, I receive an email saying it was shipped. But, the med I had ordered 1 week ago was still in process. Funny that it took so long to receive the one from a week ago but they could process and ship the one I told them I didn't want.
This isn't the first problem I've had with them. I am required to use them due to my insurance. My doctor give me a coupon for a diabetic med so it would only cost me 25.00 per month. The coupon was good for 12 months. After one refill they wouldn't fill the order anymore nor accept the 25.00 coupon. I had to quit taking the med. It did help my A1C in the short time I took it. I really wish my company LG&E would quit using Express Scripts. They are not good to work with at all. You can't tell me that they couldn't have canceled the prescription that I didn't want before shipping. This was the fastest they had ever filled a prescription for me. Usually takes close to 2 weeks.

I have had insurance with my husband's employer for 55 years. The insurance providers have changed over the decades. About 30 years ago Merck-Medco became their service provider. Sometime in the last year or so Merck-Medco and Express Scripts merged. Eleven years ago I retired from a state organization. I did not take insurance offered through that organization upon retirement. For eleven years. About a year ago I had an Rx filled thru my late husband's provider, as I have done for decades, and it was filled thru the organization from which I had retired. It took me months to figure out why I had been billed for the total amount of that drug. It took months to explain it had not been filled under my long time insurance company. Instead it was with "insurance" by my former employer. I did not know I had coverage with them. I don't. I have a "courtesy service" free to all who retired from that organization.
One week ago I learned Express Scripts had switched my drug plans from my long-established plan to one which gives me zero benefits. In other words, I have no benefits--no drug coverage, no hospitalization, etc. I am in dire need of life-saving drugs at this very moment. I am unable to pay 700 for one of those meds at present. Due to a life-threatening illness, my drugs are cost prohibitive to me. I have no medicine. Express Scripts called my late husband's benefits office and told them my "primary" insurance was the one from which I had retired. No one made this designation but Express Scripts.
On Monday of this week I learned I could "disenroll" from "my" plan by notarized letter. My former employer did not send this letter until Friday. They acquiesced and forwarded it electronically. None of this was told to me until five days ago. I sent all this information yesterday, overnighted, but Monday is Labor Day. This medicine was sent for a refill 2 weeks ago. They waited until it was too late for me to get it unless I paid the full price thru the other plan. By the way, I didn't even know I had a plan from my former employee until a year ago. I had denied it by specifically stating I wanted none. Now that employer states I must have signed a generic, blanket statement which failed to state that in said statement. Express Scripts has made zero attempt to correct this and help me get my life saving seizure medication thru my long time insurance plan.
The supervisor at Express Scripts was terse, offered no explanation, and then told me a bald faced lie when I asked how Express Scripts could call my late husband's benefits office and tell them to sever my insurance as I had another "primary" plan. That benefit office told me my insurance had been cut off as Express Scripts had told me they had informed them. Express Scripts said they had no way of doing that. They did. Again, I had both plans (though one was unbeknownst to me) for Eleven years. I had no trouble. When Express Scripts merged, this is when the problem arose. This company should be eradicated from the face of the earth.
Updated on 08/30/2015: Express Scripts has contacted me stating they wish to reverse and correct the issue. I have responded yet have not heard back. I let them know I was leery about responding to anyone over an open site such as this one due to internet nuisances and pranksters. I gave them a request with how to contact me not so publicly. They have not responded. That tells me being cautious was not unfounded. With Express Scripts in business, no one need worry about nuclear negotiations and signing of an agreement between Iran and the USA nor does anyone need to worry about ISIS and its onslaught. Right here in the US, all we have to worry about is Express Scripts. Now Consumer Affairs wishes to know if I want to mark this issue as resolved. NO. An erroneous message is nowhere close to a solution or resolution.

The system they use for order processing is horrendous. They have my credit card on file. I place my order on their website, which isn't easy to use, and select the credit card they can use - then click submit. They send me emails and numerous automated calls telling me to call them to verify payment. I call them and they require me to authorize my card purchase. I DID WHEN I CLICKED SUBMIT. Anyway, I authorized it. Five days later, I look on their website and my order was cancelled. The buffoon on the call clicked the wrong status for the order. I had to go through the whole process again. This isn't the first time this happened and I am sure it won't be the last. ARRRGGGG.

My insurance plan requires that I purchase my medication by Express Scripts after two months of getting it from a local pharmacy. I had paid at the local pharmacy $75 for a 30 day supply. I called Express Scripts to find out the price and they told me that they could only fill a 90 day supply. They quoted the amount of $177 for the 90 day supply. I did not have that kind of money to spend all at once on the medication, so I gave them my credit card information.
A few days later I made a payment to my credit card company and found out Express Scripts had actually charged $386.57 without my authorization. No one ever called me to get authorization. If I had been "allowed" to continue with the local pharmacy, the cost would have been $75 for a 30 day supply, with Express Scripts it came out to be $128 for a 30 day supply. They advertised savings and convenience to the consumer and in reality they are defrauding consumers. Do not do business with them. The worst thing is that I am "required" by the insurance company to purchase the medication through them!

I have had 3 major issues with Express Scripts in the past 2 months. First: Approximately 2 months ago I received a 60 day supply of a medication and was charged for a 90-day supply. I emailed to inquire and was told I would have to call and talk to someone. So after 20 min on hold I was told they only bill for 90 days but because my doctor had only sent an order for 60 days they could only fill the 60 days. So, according to Express Scripts, it was my doctor's fault they overcharged me.
At the time I had auto-payment on so I could easily have not noticed and the representative on the phone even admitted that they never would have contacted me or fixed the overcharge had I not spotted it. The company solution was to credit my Express Script account to what the retail cost would have been had I picked up the prescription at my local retail pharmacy. (But not refund my cc as most other businesses would have done). I also know that the "they can only charge for 90 day supply" was a lie as I have received 30 day supplies from them in the past and been billed for 30 days.
Second: As if their scam of over quietly charging customers wasn't enough, a short time later I received a medication that I never authorized shipment for and is in fact a medication I do not take. I emailed to ask how to return it and was told that was not an option as "my provider" had ordered it. Again, I reiterate, this is NOT a medication I take. I called and inquired and was told 1) that it was my doctor's error not theirs so I still needed to pay for it and 2) that because I had a credit issued to me in the past 18 months they were unable to issue another credit at this time. Now here is the real scam in this operation: They will also not ship a different medication that I need because I have an outstanding balance for the medication that they sent in error.
Third: Four weeks ago I requested a refill for a prescription (the same medication they now won't send due to the error balance on my account) and they preceded to contact a doctor with a different name spelling, located across the country from me to request the refill. Express Scripts then contacted me 1 week later to say my doctor (which the rep spelled to me the name and thus I knew it was not the correct doctor & said the east coast city & state office location- I live in CA) was not responding to the refill request. When I asked how it was that they could have contacted a doctor I had never seen or even lived in the same state as, I was told the department that sends request faxes has no access to my own provider's names so they have no way of knowing if they are contacting your own doctor or another one with a similar name.
So even though I had previously filled the prescription with a 1 month supply at a retail pharmacy (which was then transferred) AND I have a second current prescription on file ordered from the same doctor, they were unable to find the name and contact info for said doctor. I have a total of 2 doctors and 3 prescribed medications so this should not be that complicated. This company is not just poorly run, they have now crossed over into multiple scams & potentially illegal practices. I will be encouraging my business through which I get insurance to cancel their association with this company.

I'd switched from my local pharmacy to Express Scripts because Express had a better price on one of my medications. Whenever I need my regular scripts filled, my doctor calls it in. Every time this happens, I receive a phone call asking me to verify my address. I have not only done this with every single time I have my meds filled, but I have also logged into my account on express-scripts.com and verified my address. After I'd verified my address on my account, I did not expect to get yet another phone call asking me to verify my address. I've previously called and spoke to a Customer Service rep asking why I needed to verify the address, and the answer I was given was "because we need to verify your address". I then chose to go the written route and submitted a question through the contact us form on their site (I did this because there is no direct email; just the FAQ and the contact form).
When I submitted my question via the form, I received an email indicating that I received a reply to my question, but the answer was not in the email itself, but I would need to log in to the site to read the reply. Several more back and forth replies still do not explain to me why I will need to verify my address every time I get my prescriptions refilled. After this, I will be going back to my local pharmacy. Paying more for my medications will be worth it than getting aggravated this many times.

I am an employee who work at Express Scripts. I am working with them for over 10 years when they were called Medco. When they bought Medco, I was making 21.00 dollars hourly. Express Scripts cut my pay, stop my increments, gave all employee the cheapest insurance required by LAW. In short, it took me more than 10 years to get up to making over 21.00 dollars an hour. Express Scripts cuts my salary back to 10 years back and stop all increments. Then they change our insurance for medical benefits. You go to the doctor, you pay co-pay, later you get another bill for doctor's services which insurance DOES NOT COVER, even if it's your ANNUAL PHYSICAL EXAM. No lab work is covered.
When you get your prescriptions drug from Express Scripts, they send you branded instead of generic drugs. Even it is generic, they call it branded. For automatic refills, they send you your refills way before your drug finishes and charge your credit card as soon as it fills up. Express Scripts violates whole lots of laws and rules inside their pharmacies which no one can see as no one but the employees can go inside. When they are due for inspections, that's the only time they do things right. Trust me I am working there and I know what I am going through. I don't have power to take any action against them as they are very powerful and have best lawyers on their side. My advice - DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS TO EXPRESS SCRIPTS. They are law breakers for pharmacy, HIPAA and all other agencies involved with pharmacy business

I am a pharmacist myself and I've never heard of that procedure. I requested to talk to another pharmacist from Express scripts but the representative put me on hold for about 10 minutes and did not allow me to talk to a pharmacist. He then told me I have to contact CVS specialty to have them do it because it's their policies not to call in for transferring Rx. As a pharmacist working in the field, I am very upset with this specific Express scripts policy or "protocol". I feel very bad for other customers/patients experiencing the same issue because transferring Rx is a very common task that the pharmacist performs on a daily basis.

It is incredibly frustrating to expect a prescription to be filled, but for it not to arrive and then have to scramble at the last minute to get my Dr. to order a prescription for a local pharmacy. In this case, it's an inhaler because my husband has asthma. The doctor's order is "Use 2 inhalation every 4 hours as needed for shortness of breath". They only shipped 3 boxes/200 metered inhalation. They charged $70.00. Compare to Wal-Mart, every refill they give him 2 boxes/200 metered inhalation for only $35.85. Do you see the difference? If you go to Wal-Mart for prescription it's cheaper because 2 boxes for only $35.85 unlike Express Scripts 3 boxes for $70.00. For them that's what they allowed them to ship. I received numerous calls from Express Scripts and called them at least 5 times to verify my address. Then I received a few more calls, one being from my doctor stating that Express Scripts wanted to change my medication to something else. For medical reasons I cannot take any other alternative medication. I contacted Express Scripts once again last Monday evening and advised them of that, and they assured me I would receive my medication by Thursday because since I had no more medication they would overnight it.
On Tuesday evening I arrived home from work to a message from Express Scripts stating that I needed to contact them. I called them once again and the rep said because the information my doctor provided the prior 8/8/14 had expired I would have to get all of that redone by my doctor before the ** could ship. They purposely delayed my medication until the information expired and when I called them on Tuesday evening the supervisor actually sounded happy that I was not going to get my meds.
Express Scripts SUCKS as a company and I will look for an alternative until the company I work for tosses them to the curb. I am not only frustrated, annoyed, etc… Beware if you have any blood pressure issues because your head might explode dealing with those JERKS. They also changed my medication from ** to ** by calling and harassing my doctor until they gave in. I also worry that any of my medication that is temperature sensitive might be mishandled. They told me they package the medication according to the manufacturer's recommendations. If I go through a local pharmacy I am required to pay an amount which, apparently, escalates with each refill. The problem that I am having is trying to get Express Scripts to fill my prescription through the mail! I call Express Scripts repeatedly to get them to fill my prescription through the mail, and each time I call, they tell me that they are going to fax a request to my doctor and that I should be getting my prescription shortly. However, when I go to my doctor's office they say that they are NOT receiving any fax requests of any kind! When I call Express Scripts I get the same story, that they will send a fax request. When I speak with my doctor's office they say they've never received any fax requests.
When I question the young, rude Express Scripts representative on the phone, that Express Scripts claims to be sending faxes but my doctor isn't receiving any faxes, they claim they have no records of my calls or calls to me, or any info on my doctor or any fax number either! The consequence of this is that I am paying more and more for my prescriptions each time I get them refilled! Last month it cost me $15.00, and today it cost my $21.00! She encouraged me to use mail order (legal in Minnesota) and that it would cost $10.00 for 3 months... which is about the same if I go directly to the pharmacy using generic as the Rx states. After a few days I happened to check my balance online and was charged $230.00!!! I called in and asked them what happened! Express Script told me that the Rx said to use the brand name... it did not and confirmed it with my clinic in which they read to me word for word. My clinic is great and called them to clear the matter. The brand name was in parentheses and it said to use the generic for the Rx... They disagreed...
I spend an hour's on the phone talking to supervisors, managers and the pharmacists 3 different times and pleaded with them. I was told it would be investigated but that the complaint wouldn't change. Each time they gave me more or new reasons why it could not be changed. Finally I spoke with a pharmacist who was real! She explained to me about the politics of drug manufacturers and how they can work around changing the brand name so that they can charge for brand costs. The fact that the brand name was written on the Rx in parentheses even though the generic name was written and clearly and stated to use generic ...they chose to use the brand name... Whomever decided this... this has never happened to me before. She was upset also for what occurred. She told me she would tell the complaint committee to issue a refund... and send the Rx back unopened.
I must have spoken to at least a dozen people who could even comprehend the problem or lied to me several times. I also told them to listen to the recording of the first conversation when I was quoted $10.00! It was an awful unforgettable experience. I immediately removed my debit card and they are blocked from any access to it by my bank. My bank wanted to help me but I didn't have their code number for that transaction. I am a nurse and knew that the pharmacist was the only one to take action but was not allowed to speak to them until I am was lucky enough to connect with a representative who wanted to help me. Express Scripts is charging double for employees who work for employers that mandate mail order usage on routine maintenance drugs. At my job, if a script incurs over 2 refills then we are FORCED to use mail order or be penalized by paying full price for the drug. It is very subtle and not many people have recognized it yet, but it is happening. I have a prescription that would cost me $2.30 a month at a local pharmacy, yet after 2 refills I am forced to use mail order thru Express Scripts where costs are supposed to be lower via this method.
Instead, my cost for the same script increased to $3.09 a month. Likewise, a second script increased my quantity from 60 to 120 a month. Usually bulk quantities are even lower, yet once again Express Scripts quoted me $3.16 a month if I went to a local pharmacy to pick up a one month supply. Being forced to use mail order I have to pay $6.18 a month for the same 120 pills. That is almost DOUBLE the cost PER PILL. They have ignored my inquiries as to why a pill doubles in cost thru mail order when it is supposed to lower my cost. They have no explanation. They try to say it's because my quantity increased from my original script, but again, I have the breakdown per pill.
At a pharmacy locally it would cost me $3.16/month. For 3 months this would cost me $9.48 for 360 pills, yet I was invoiced $18.54 for the same 360 qty. They sent me an email explaining my original script of 60 pills/month (180 for 90 days) would cost me $3.09 a month thru mail order, when in fact it cost me only $2.30 a month at a local pharmacy. My Pill cost getting my script thru a local pharmacy is .0527. Whereas, Express-Scripts is charging .103 thru mail order for the same drug. I want to know if this is a legal practice to advertise on their website that mail order saves you money, yet they double the price per pill? If it is happening to me on my scripts, it is happening nationally for all people. This would be a significant dollar amount accumulated by their deceptive practices to say the least.

We received notification that my husband had to fill his prescription through them and could no longer use the regular pharmacy. We were unaware that we could only fill 4 scripts at a retail store before it had to go through them. They stated they sent out a letter, which we did not receive. We explained that we have been having a mail theft issue, and could provide an open case number and video. Which is why we didn't receive the letter. WOW SO, let's be clear about how this works. If you don't receive the letter and don't know of the change, you're screwed out of getting your prescription because they sent the letter. The prescription requires no missed time or it becomes ineffective and will no longer work. This medication is required to stay alive and be healthy. Even after explaining that numerous times, and now screaming at them over the phone, they don't care. They sent the letter after all.
LIE NUMBER ONE: Express Scripts informed me last night that I had signed a letter approving this method of delivery for the script. Uh, okay? So, we call BCBS to get a ONE time authorization and they tell me it has to go through Express Scripts. She transfers me to Express Scripts, which he wasn't aware he was speaking to. We explain to them AGAIN, and they tell him "okay we should be able to do this, I completely understand". The agent comes back and says THEY WILL NOT AUTHORIZE IT SINCE THE LETTER WAS SENT OUT. "UM, he needs this medication to keep his body healthy or he could get very sick and DIE. Do you understand that?" They don't care. We ask for a supervisor. The supervisor basically say's the same thing.
LIE NUMBER 2: This time supervisor number 2 tells says that they have to go back to BCBS to get the authorization. That's when he realized we weren't speaking to BCBS. Fortunately, after she lied, the BCBS rep. chimed back in. Yeah, that happened! We are even more infuriated about the LIE on top of everything else now. He isn't the nicest person on the phone admittedly at this point. Pleading with them to understand why this prescription is so important to his health. He finally tells her to get off her chair and go get a manager (short version) and much louder. Again, angry and so would/should anyone at this point be. He is informed he will need to hold while she locates a supervisor to put on the phone. This woman said SHE was the supervisor in the beginning of the call. When asked again, she say's she is a supervisor that she getting another supervisor. This is one big run around after the next.
Next supervisor gets on the phone - same runaround. He once again is asking them "Do you understand that this is my life?" He asked her to repeat that she understands that this is his life. She say's "I understand that this is important to you." He said again, "do you understand that this is my life, say you understand that." She hangs the phone up on him and the BCBS representative.
I am beside myself right now. I don't know how this is even legal. They clearly didn't want to authorize it because they wanted the profit. They couldn't overnight it, they couldn't get it to us on time, so they should have authorized it through the CVS. After that, they obviously would have been making their ridiculous amount of profit off this script that keeps him alive. A report has also been filed with the California Department of Health. Since Express Scripts is apparently chosen by the employer, we will be notifying them as well. NO ONE SHOULD BE DENIED THEIR PRESCRIPTION BECAUSE A COMPANY SENT A LETTER AND THEY WANT THE PROFIT NOW.

We have to do mail order prescriptions for maintenance drugs and Express Scripts is who we get them from. In the past year I've probably have called them at least 15 times and my daughter has called about 10 times. It's very rare if I send in a new script or order refills on their website that I get them in less than 10 days. When I refill online I always pay when I order, but for some reason they always call and say I have to pay before they ship them. One time they called said I needed to pay I told them I did when I ordered them. They said it wasn't showing that I paid so I paid over the phone so we could get the meds and the very next day they took the money out of my bank account again because I had already paid when I ordered. I called and they said that was weird and they didn't know how that could happen.
I've called before and they'll tell me to get a script for 7 days from the Dr. so I don't run out before they decide to ship my order and they will override it so I can get it at my local pharmacy and when I go to get the script I can't get them because they didn't override it. I called there today because again they weren't shipping my daughter's anti-depressants and they said I owed money. I told them I paid. They said I didn't and I told her I wasn't paying over the phone anymore because of what happened the last time. I did tell her what card I paid with and she said when they ship the pills they will Bill that card if it still says I didn't pay. I asked the ship date 3 times and she said August 11th so I didn't go to the bank and deposit any money and they shipped them today.
So now they have overdrawn my account so I'll have to pay 35 more dollars as if the scripts don't cost enough. I even checked online twice today to check status - said it was still processing. Estimated ship date was the 11th. I checked on their website about 2 hours ago and saw that they shipped them. I still have not gotten an email saying they shipped which they are supposed to send.
The whole company is just a mess. I don't know how anyone would have anything good to say about this company. We have an Express Scripts where I live and that is where they type in all the scripts that are ordered and then they dispense them from Ohio or Indiana. I've talked to many people who work there or who worked there and quit because it's a big mess there. They are always hiring and firing people. You have to sit at a computer for 12 hours and type in prescriptions. No wonder everything gets screwed up. The employees are probably half sleeping. They don't train you enough before they sit you in front of the computer and tell you get typing. If I had to rate this company I wouldn't even be able to give them anything but a big fat 0!

My doctor called in a prescription for a compound cream for pain. Last night I received a phone call from pharmacy saying Express Scripts would not cover it because one of the ingredients was not covered. I called and spoke to a girl name Gayle. First it was hard to understand her as she had a strong accent. Took 40 minutes of talking about this one ingredient and a lot of time on hold then I was told "Oops yes we will cover this."
Called and talked to the pharmacy this morning and told about the conversation with Gayle and her badge number and asked them to call. She called me back and said "Nope they are not covering it." Called back to Express Scripts and now I am being told not being covered because of all 3 ingredients. WHAT? The story has change repeatedly. I have spent over 3 hours on the phone with this nonsense. I am on hold again. Who do we go to from here because quite frankly IT'S UNACCEPTABLE. THEY ARE TRIPPING OVER THEIR TONGUES WITH LIES.

They filled the prescription for 90 days of ** with one 4 mL bottle, charged the full price for 90 days, and then sent it weeks late. They claimed the doctor only wrote the prescription for 1 bottle, but the enclosed directions are very clear, and they, after all, are supposed to be the experts on the use of medications. So by charging for 90 days they give evidence that they understood the intent of the prescription. ** has to be used every day for almost a year (instructions say 48 weeks). The way they sent it, I would have had to restart the year 4 times since they refused to send the remaining bottles needed before 90 days had elapsed. I refused to play their game and stopped after restarting once. I don't have a receipt because they don't send me receipts. I have copies of checks. I filed a complaint and the doctor's office wrote a letter, and they did not respond to either.

My wife cannot take the generic brand of **, for her mental health condition. It makes her throat swell up and she cannot breath. She has been getting the brand name ** from ES for the last 3 1/2 yrs and they have gotten letters from her Doctor to that effect. She has been approved for the ** every year by them and she has been getting the 90 day supplies. They have messed up the RX at least twice over these years by sending the generic brand, which she then has to call them, they apologize, and then send her the correct RX.
NOW when she called on July 24th to renew her RX for the next 90 days their Pharmacist decided to call her Doctor to see if it could be changed to the generic brand. Her Doctor did not check her medical records and just said "OK." (He is also liable for this error, but why did ES's Pharmacist think he could change her RX when he is not her Doctor?) When the package arrived this past Thurs. she did not open it until Sat., a delay she now regrets. It was of course the generic brand. She called and it cannot be corrected as her coverage ended midnight Fri. July 31st.
We now have a 90 day generic drug that cannot be used and cannot be returned. They deducted her copy from her checking account and ES says it has not record, of her allergic reaction to the generic brand. We have their letters of approval for the brand name ** with claim numbers but they would no longer listen even after speaking to a "supervisor" as we are no longer with ES. We will write to our AG as well as state Senator and Congressperson. This really stinks as Medicare Disability does not cover the drug and it is about $800 a month, which we do not have.

Wait a week and check online to request the refill. Order refill. Do not hear from Express Scripts so go online again. "Prescription has expired, what do you want done." Isn't it obvious - get new prescription. Get message, have new prescription. Couple days later another 10 digit ID phone call - medication on back order, due in 7/27. Getting close, but can do.
Aug 1st (8/1). Go online and get message "you have to release the order." What - I have asked to have it filled several times in last month - it should be obvious. Then when call in to order since the only way was to ignore all the calls, Accredo says I owe them 1700.00, because I didn't call in with new co-pay assistance card. They write off anything past 90 days, yet I had an overstock from the earlier shipment. So the consumer is getting charged for medicine not needed at the time, Accredo does a write off, and now says it is going to the collections. I realized there had been an error when I received the medication from them. I tried to call to get the medicine returned, and get the prescription locally filled. I was informed by Walgreens, they couldn't fill the prescription because Express Scripts already used my insurance to collect payment. Once I disclosed that to the Express Scripts and asked them to correct their error… their customer service was rude and uncaring and told me I was to return the medication at my expense and once they received the return which I was supposed to somehow track. I was to call Express Scripts and let them know that the prescription had been returned and tell them to issue a credit and then call Walgreens and have Walgreens call Express Scripts to work out the insurance payment.
At this point, my son who is a preemie, has been without medication for 5 days. When I mentioned that this would only prolong his inability to take his medication, the Express Scripts customer service rep could have cared less. I asked to be deleted from their system and was told I had to call my benefits company to make that happen. I will never use them again and plead with others to STAY AWAY!!! There are so many times I have had issues with Express Scripts, and they happen repeatedly. The same issues, over and over. Things like: having to ask your doctor every year to send in another form - the Express Scripts form that determines if you can get your medications for another year. Even if you have been taking the same medications for years - you must get "blessed" by Express Scripts to continue. MY doctor should determine if I continue with medication - NOT Express Scripts. And Express Scripts has challenged a change in dosage and new medication?!?
Following up on the Express Scripts form that has been sent (directly from the doctor’s office). This form falls into a "holding pattern" in which no one can tell you anything for 2-3 days. So in 2-3 business days, you may be trying to track down the Express Scripts form? Or not. Received? Or not. Approved? Or not. It's a guessing game. Neither my doctor, nor I have ever been contacted by Express Scripts to verify information in order to approve a medication. They stick to the script... "we have not received the information required to fill your prescription."
If you can get through the Express Scripts form and process, there is still the issue of payment. You must log onto their site to decipher why you are not receiving your meds. I was advised my medications were not sent due to insufficient funds. In checking my bank account there was, in fact, sufficient funds. I called Express Scripts to verify the "insufficient funds". After holding, then explaining my situation, the Express Scripts employee said, "Yes, I see that you did have sufficient funds." My response, "Terrific! Can you send me my medication?” which received the response, "We will need to process this on Monday." I asked to speak to a supervisor (no, not on Monday, right now please) and the same person returned on the phone to tell me they would be shipping out the requested prescription on the same day.
This company does NOT provide a service. They could CARE LESS about their customer base. They know that you have NO OTHER CHOICE to receive medications - and this is the ONLY reason they are in business.

After my work switched to Coventry insurance which uses Express Scripts after two times they told me I could no longer fill it at a retail pharmacy and must use mail in. I also have a copay card that covers the $300 copay. When I called Express Scripts they said they can't take the copay card but they said I could go through Accredo Pharmacy (an Express Scripts specialty pharmacy) and they could take the card. So I had the Dr. call into Accredo. When I got the medicine I received a bill for $300 and it was filled directly by Express Scripts and not Accredo. I called to complain and they finally after transferring me back and forth credited the $300. Then I had to have the Dr. recall the script into Accredo and I made sure that they put all kinds of notes on my account saying that Accredo is to fill it and not Express Scripts. Well Express Scripts filled it again and sent me another bill.
I called and spoke with a customer service person who said the pharmacy staff should have contacted me before filling it and will put in for another credit. And finally told me that the medicine that is normally specialty had been considered no longer a specialty medicine by my insurance and that is why Express Scripts filled it instead of Accredo, but I still should have been contacted before filling it. They also said because it wasn't specialty that I should have never been transferred to Accredo in the first place.
Accredo has no record of account since the prescriptions were never filled through them. Then I got a bill for the $300 with no record of notes by the person who said I would get the credit. And, even after spending a couple of hours on the phone the supervisors said there was nothing they could do except issue me $100 credit. I have since got permission to get my medication at a retail pharmacy so I could use my copay card. Not sure what I can do but I will never use Express Scripts again.

The next time my doctor wrote the prescription, Express Scripts said it was for 12 pills every 18 days, and I had to pay my $90 co-pay for each refill. This means the exact same medicine would cost me $450! My neurologist's office denies they wrote the prescription that way. I explained the situation to my neurologist, who sent a new, very clearly worded prescription for 60 pills over a 90-day period. Express Scripts entered it in their system this time as 6 pills every 9 days, for which I am now expected to pay $900 for the same amount of medication!
The staff at my physician's office is very angry because Express Scripts keeps accusing them of writing the wrong quantity and day supply, and is forcing them to keep resubmitting the information. I find it compelling evidence against Express Scripts that my husband and I get a total of seven prescriptions from various doctors, but the only one that ever suffers from these "miscommunications" is the only medication that isn't dirt cheap. The prescriptions that cost from $8-$12 (written by the same neurologist!) never get subdivided into 18- or 9-day copay periods. Surely it must be illegal to deliberately alter a physician's prescription in order to charge the client 5 and 10 times the co-pay specified by the insurance company!

This medication has been effective. However, ES sent me a new generic medication. Basically two pills instead of the one. When I called to find out why, I got transferred to several people who all had different answers that didn't make any logical sense. And I was told they told my doctor he had a choice: either do a pre-authorization and wait to see if it would be approved and then re-order prescription or accept the alternative generic brand ES suggested. My doctor, who is very busy (as most are) authorized the chance, not wanting to hold up my meds. Basically, he was held hostage to make a decision and ES was only happy to dump the blame on him.
I think this company should be investigated. Physicians in New York State can lose their license or have it suspended for prescribing certain meds for patients over the phone, yet it's okay for ES to prescribe a medication for a patient they haven't screened for possible side effects etc? My previous medication was effective! How dare they play God with my life and tamper with my health and without permission from me! I think the best thing to do is never be at the mercy (if you can avoid it) of Big Pharma in the first place. I called Express Scripts and spoke with a supervisor and patient advocate. I was told it's ES policy to turn all accounts over to collections if over 90 days. I'm on disability and it's a hardship paying 50 a month. There's no way I could pay it off in 90 days. I think this is unreasonable!

I asked what the issues were because I felt threatened by the secretive way it was stated. She put me on hold a couple of times and then I was disconnected. Mailed script on June 22 and rec'd an email on July 4 saying script was "delayed" w/ no explanation. Found out it wouldn't ship for another "estimated" 6 days (plus up to five business days shipping time, brings me to July 17).
Called ES to say I would be out of **, a medication one cannot stop abruptly due to high risk of seizure. Was told I would have to get another WRITTEN script from my doctor and the local pharmacist could CALL EXPRESS SCRIPTS FOR "PERMISSION" TO OVERRIDE. I explained that my doctors office was moving this week and I could not contact them. Rep repeated at least 5 times that the only thing I could do was get a new WRITTEN script from my doctor, which I cannot. I requested that ES release my script so I could fill it at a local pharmacy. They refused. I said they were holding my prescription hostage, and they said it was my own fault for not allowing enough time - despite my quoting their website saying to have 14 days of medication on hand.
After reading the other reviews I'm guessing ES has tried to call my doc for her to "authorize" the script - but the office is closed. The sick part is the the whole purpose of our insurance switching to ES was to save money, but this will probably cost me an emergency room visit if I have a seizure from an abrupt discontinuation of **. Or I can try going to another doc and look like a drug seeking doctor shopper. Needless to say I'm furious. Let me also add that I used Caremark mail order for 5+ years with no real problems.

About 30 bucks came out of my check every month and *poof* magically my pills were covered and I'd only have to pay 1/4 of the price at the counter, go on about my merry life, free of crippling monthly PMDD and all of its mean friends. Then I grew up. Today I am a crotchety old 30 something with a husband and a baby. I still have PMDD. Only it's worse and there are more fun issues since pregnancy and childbirth. And now, we have the joy of going through not one, but 2 heinous obstacle courses to get a single GD rx filled. ALL HAIL EXPRESS SCRIPTS AND ITS INFERNAL MASTER, BCBS!!!
Need a prescription you say? Expect the insurance you pay for to MEAN something... let alone COVER something?! BAHAHAHAHA Oh you, you poor silly thing! Still wanna try? Get ready to bow down. Get on your knee pads. You've got two behemoths to ** if you need a prescription- and there's no guarantee your effort will get you anywhere. I won't get into Nobamacare and how those dillweeds decided to take the bottle from my son's mouth (and not the marble from the insurance companies' halls) to pay for Lazyqua's healthcare... but seriously this system is a joke. What kind of tyranny are we living in when a grown, married woman and mother can get her birth control pills covered (even a fraction) because some company wants her doctor to write a 12 page essay to explain its medical necessity?
I think I'm more peeved since (not that it should matter or make a diff) I'm not even using them for birth control, I need them to keep me from such debilitating bleeding and horrendous side effects every month that I need to either keep my poor husband home from work or get my elderly mother to come over to care for my infant because mommy is an inch away from death. My husband works hard. Like, physical labor combined with the dredge of a miserable, sanity-sapping environment hard. Think Joe vs the Volcano. He PAYS good honest money (of which we aren't left with much) for this bs insurance and these evil geniuses have really figured out how to NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING EVER AGAIN AND JUST COLLECT MONEY FROM FOOLS LIKE US.
They created this system where they can inexplicably deny your claims, fill bogus "alternative" prescriptions with no consent, bill the insurance, and indefinitely pass you to the other when it's a problem. Which is always. It's like Comcast. They're actually as bad as Comcast. And I usually don't use the C word, but in this case, it fits. Express Scripts used my prescription without my consent and sent me one of my medications. I had never used them, because I would rather do business at a small town pharmacy. I sent the product back to them and ask them to credit my insurance, because I did not order this. They would not credit my insurance. It is not part of their procedure. So they were going to return the medicine to me for this one time deal. I waited two weeks for it and it never came {of course the bill came and I paid it.} I called them about it and now they are not sending it. They destroyed it because it had been sent back. They did send my payment back, but the insurance was charged 500.00 for something they destroyed and I did not receive.
How is it legal for them to charge this and not credit it back? They keep sending me info to get my meds from them saying it will be cheaper for me. Well it may be cheaper, but I checked with my pharmacy as to how much they charged my insurance and it is less than what ES charges the insurance which may be why our insurance is so high. It all comes back to the consumer.
Express Scripts will only allow me to 21 days of my meds at the pharmacy of my choice, but with them I can get three months worth at a time. They should not be allowed to do this. What happened to Freedom of choice? I told them when they ask how they could better serve me. That they could allow my pharmacy to give me three months of meds. No that is not their procedure. I told them their procedure stinks. After reading some other reviews, I wonder how it is legal for them to change a Doctors prescription to a generic? The Doc knows you, they do not.

My husband and I have had Express Scripts through our insurance company for many years. Fortunately there have not been many instances in which we have had to contact them; usually it involved talking to a computer which is always annoying at best, but in the end, we were able to resolve whatever the issue was. About 4 1/2 months ago, the generic for my hormone patch became available and instead of contacting me to see if I wanted the brand name (why should they ask the patient?) they just started sending the generic. I tried it but it took only a short period of time to see that it was not effective. And when I called them the particular person told me not to worry, if I paid the difference I could get the brand name. They assured me that it would arrive in a couple of weeks, when my next 3 month supply was to be mailed.
This necessitated a call to my doctor to get a temporary rx which cost me $120 because my plan indicated that I already had this drug and it wouldn't cover more. Never mind that it was an ineffective generic. When my next 3 month supply arrived, it was the generic, not the brand name as promised. Now the person I talked to said that I would have to get a new prescription. If someone had given me the correct information I would have taken care of it immediately. By this time I had to get another month at another $120 and have a new prescription which meant a visit to the doctor. The office sent in a new prescription but now because I have the generic on file it will not fill the brand name prescription.
By now I have spoken to at least ten people who have all apologized for this problem, but NO ONE is able to fix it. I have spent an excess of two hours on the phone. Much of it on hold and after just now spending another 38 minutes on the phone with them, no one can tell me for sure if I will be getting my brand name prescription, the generic, or nothing at all. No one has a resolution number that I can call to remedy this situation and I will have to wait to see what happens. Meanwhile, I have spent hundreds of dollars out of my pocket for something that I have paid premiums for and I still have no help or drugs that I need. If you have a choice between this plan and another, don't use Express Scripts; clearly the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing!

I find it amazing how they could come up with such a disaster when they are the so called intelligent people of the medical care system. How can a script run smoothly in a system that is unpredictable? Ok so I need a script they call it in. The pharmacy has one med but not the other two meds needed. So the pharmacy calls me, "can you wait till Monday (4 days later), for this medication because we won't have a delivery until then?"
Well no I can't. I have to take them daily and I cannot fill them until they are due, so there is no room for error. Hmmm what to do, I have to call back the Dr. Tell them the pharmacy doesn't have what I need, so you have to re do all the scripts to another pharmacy which is not my default pharmacy which again I was forced to choose because of druggies abusing the system. So now what do I do?
I am now 2 days past my last day of my meds. I am in absolute pain. I'm crying but it is completely out of my hands. The script nurse is over worked because only two Dr's can use the e-script, and she is the only script nurse. So, all you smarty pants that came up with this insane system, why would you think that if you give us 48 hrs to fill a script, then add 72 to get it filled, how's that going to work? Weren't you thinking? Hmmm what do we do If the pharmacy that is their default doesn't have the med.
A piece of paper was easy. The patient simply took that paper script to a pharmacy that had the Med. Simple hmmm. Oh that's right. Simple isn't in anymore, complicated and stressful is the new safe America. Ha now make it even harder on the patient and nurses as well as the Dr's, but those druggies, it's still simple. They will figure out a way to get those drugs. They always but we the patient again suffer. Oh yeah thanks for thinking this through. When it's your meds, your mom's meds, son's, daughter's, grandmother's, wife's, husband's, I bet things will look different, or will you have an in to make it work for you. Thanks again.

They call me to verify shipping address, but they can't tell me a date the heat-sensitive, light sensitive prescription will ship.... even when I agree to pay an extra $21.00 in shipping to send it overnight. The medication is critical to the health of my mother. I need it sent to my office so that it arrives on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, giving them the option of shipping it overnight on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. How hard is this? We live in Las Vegas. It is 113 degrees now. This medication cannot sit in a hot mailbox or in a hot USPS warehouse waiting to be delivered if it arrives over a weekend.
I talked to four employees today, including the one who called me to verify a shipping address, then who disconnected off my call when she tried to transfer me to Customer Service. No one could help... All they can do is give me an "approximate" shipping date, even after I explain the situation and the consequences of the medication being degraded by the heat. So do they care so very little about their customers' well-being that they can't process a prescription on a set date when you are willing to pay extra to have it done? This isn't the first time we have had this issue. It was a very sad day indeed when TriCare forced us to let this inept company handle these medications that are needed to sustain my mother.
I have also tried to call TriCare to complain, to no avail. I begged for a exception for my mother so that I can pick up her medications at a local pharmacy, but unless she is in a nursing home instead of me caring for her, they will not grant an exception for us. I received emails every time saying that my prescription was processed and getting filled and it wasn't until I should have already received the shipment that I found out via express-scripts.com that the order was cancelled.
I have also been told false information from numerous employees that all conflict with each other: They received my doctor's fax for a new prescription (no fax was actually received), doctors can fax controlled substance orders in VA (this is actually not legal and again the order would be cancelled but you/your doctor would not be notified), my prescription was not received (it was sitting on someone's desk for over a week). While I received a most friendly rep on 2nd call, it was only after about 20 minutes worth of phone tree button pushing and being disconnected during the first call. I'm being forced to get a three month subscription for something I only need to take for a month. It will cost me $200.00/90 days and change for something my medical insurance covered and I only paid maybe $25/30 days? Where the effect is the discount?
My husband pays hundreds of dollars a month for GOOD insurance. Why do I have to be subjected to this nightmare? It's not even comparable. My meds will sit in mailbox & hot sun, or left on my front porch to be stolen while I'm at work. Whose lame idea was this? From what I've read people everywhere are getting substandard customer service, missing dosages and plain old bad service.

Never has a company caused me more frustration than my experience with Express Scripts. I received an automatic phone call on May 30th stating that my prescription would begin processing soon. After nothing arrived a week later, I called again and was told my prescription had "shipped the day before and is on the way." On June 15th my prescription had still not arrived, despite the fact that is the day I should be beginning to take the prescription again. Called this morning and was told it never processed and they "aren't sure why I received a phone call or why I was told it already shipped." Now, it will be at least another week or two until I have a medicine I am supposed to take on a daily basis. Absolutely ridiculous.

I've been forced for 2 years to deal with Express Scripts for a maintenance drug. They have yet to get it correct. It is multiple calls to my doctor's office to have them contact the pharmacist at Express Scripts. Express Scripts has cancelled multiple script renewals because I've used a local pharmacy so I don't run out of my medication. The customer service reps are rude. I've been hung up on multiple times during each call. They do not care about the customer. They can't answer simple questions and will not connect you to a pharmacist. Express Scripts knows they do not have to make an effort with customer relations. They sweet talk employers but really could care less about the employees that are forced to use their substandard "benefits". I would kill to go back to Caremark. Express Scripts will not be changing their tactics anytime soon. If you can... find another prescription plan and steer clear of this malarkey.

I have been on my medication for several years. My Dr. prescribes a 1mg dose for morning and before bed. In addition my Dr. prescribes a 0.5 dose to be taken during the day as needed to control RLS. I am forced to use Express Scripts by my insurance. In early 2015 my Dr. reordered both doses in 90 day quantities as mandated by Express Scripts. However Express Scripts took it upon themselves to cancel my 1mg prescription without notice to me or my Dr. I called them in April of 2015 and they assured me that they would fix the problem. They told me their System automatically cancelled the prescription and referred to it as a duplicate, even though the doses were different. When I ordered refills on June 2 again I found that the 1mg prescription was eliminated by Express Scripts without notice. I spent an hour on the phone with them and one of their Pharmacists who assured me he would take care of the problem and order both refills.
In addition he committed to noting my account that I was prescribed both doses. I received the 0.5mg refill and never received the 1mg. I checked my account online on June 10, 2015 and again Express Scripts eliminated my 1mg prescription and they never filled it as promised on June 2. I called again on June 10 and spoke with a supervisor who informed me that they had cancelled the 1mg for the third time. She transferred me to another pharmacist who confirmed that they had not noted the records correctly and had not filled the prescription. He again promised to take care of the problem and instructed the supervisor to order the prescription. Express Scripts has no right to change or alter my medication without approval or Dr's order but they continue to cause problems and to endanger customers due to their arbitrary cancellation of legitimate prescriptions. This company needs to be investigated.

Accurate and fair. My refill for my 3 months worth of meds is 2 months late. So I called. It's in process. For 2 months. So, had a dr's appointment last week and my doctor sent in another Rx. I got a letter that this one can't be sent until the end of the month because it's too early to refill it. Another phone call today. Finally, a nice CS person, and I asked why it can't be sent.
The reason??? They JUST sent out the one from 2 and 1/2 months ago on the 4th. But they will be sending this one at the end of the month. Because sending 6 months worth in 1 month somehow makes sense...to make up for the 3 they failed to send. Like if I double up it will work? We also have a Pharmacy program. Not sure who with, but affiliated. 1 month supply is 21 days worth. Because EVERYONE knows bodies take off for the weekends, right? Who the crap is getting paid in their cost-cutting dept.? Because if they got a raise, everyone from that person on up needs to be FIRED!

Express Scripts arbitrarily cut my wife's prescription in half without telling us that they had done so. We discovered that they had shorted us by half the prescription about 45 days after we received the bottle. When we called to ask about it, the Customer Service "Manager" told us that the company does NOT have a policy that requires it to telephone or otherwise contact patients when they change a prescription. After some discussion, we discovered that the script itself, as created by the physician, was accurate. We had been receiving a 3 month supply for a couple of years. Then, suddenly, the prescription coverage from our provider changed. The fact that the coverage changed is important -- it was the triggering event that prompted Express Scripts to change the quantity. We don't blame them for that.
But what kind of company fails to inform its customers when it actually alters a script for medications? It is inconceivable to me that the customer service people at Express Scripts do not understand that this is a breach of trust, and also unethical. Certainly we, as consumers, can't alter a script without incurring charges of fraud. Why can Express Scripts make such an alteration without informing its customers? It should not be allowed to do so. We are dropping Express Scripts and moving on to a more ethical company. Incidentally, analysts have just downgraded Express Scripts as a company. I hope it disappears completely.

My disgust with Express Scripts is multifaceted and spanning many years, but I will share the most recent. About two months ago my doctor called in a medication I have been on for years (just a different dosage), and Express Scripts told him I have no medical coverage. Luckily my doc's office was responsible enough to call me about it. I called ES and chewed them out for distorting the facts. Then I heard nothing back. Called ES about two weeks later "Where is my medication?" "Oh, it is being processed and on its way to you."
I was smart enough to ask what exactly they were sending me (learned from the previous experience that THEY decide how much medication they will send you, regardless what my doctor's prescription says.) "Oh, it is a 90 day prescription for 180 pills." "But my doctor's prescription says 90 day prescription for 270 tabs." "No, you are authorized for only 180." "Ok, what do I need to do to fix that limitation?" "Your doctor needs to call this number and ask for Clinical Exception." My doc did. They sent him back to me saying that a A Letter of Medical Necessity is required. I asked very specific questions of what needs to be in this letter, and conveyed to my doc's office. They have done more - sent my entire illness history to show what medications were tried on me and how they did not work over two years I have been in treatment by this particular doctor. Nothing back from ES.
I called today, and after three arrogant reps and their supervisors finally got to a (still arrogant) department that denied my doctor's most recent request. "Oh, wow", I heard over the phone as the man was reading through my illness history, and told me, that the request was denied. I asked on what basis. He had no idea, but suggested that the actual Letter of Medical Necessity was missing from all this paperwork. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! You have much more in that pile of paperwork! You are going deny me a medication I desperately need to function and actually maintain full time employment while others with my condition are using walkers and are addicted to pain medications? Over one piece of paper? THESE ARE GAMES and I really fail to see what Express Scripts gains by treating their customers this badly? With a PhD in Computer Science I fail to see the logic.
This is a story of just one medication. I am on about 17, and the majority of them come through ES. They lied to me about the actual prescription my doctor sent before, failed to deliver medications I requested refills for over the automated system or a representative, and many, many more. One of the worst impacts on my condition is stress, and they certainly made my condition flame up repeatedly over the time I had to deal with him. Do we have a case for a nice class- action suit, my dear co-sufferers?!

These are standard routine (and even generic medications). Even my insurance carrier can't understand why the issues for basic drugs. Each time I contact Express Scripts I obtain a completely different story as to what the issues are. Then told it was denied because the cost was too high. It took 5 months to get reimbursed and only with the threat of a lawsuit. They were clearly violating the law of denying coverage to a pre-existing condition.

I take 2 maintenance medications that I have taken for 15 years. The insurance plan we are on will cover a portion of each medication for 4 months after renewal. After that, I have to pay the full cash price at the retail store. I am okay with paying full retail because it is less painful than dealing with Express Scripts for the mail order.
Example: Last year, I agreed to switch to mail order. They immediately changed my script to generic -- which I know they can do -- but I prefer brand and so does my doctor. I contacted Express Scripts and was told that my doctor did not write DAW on the script. Said I needed a new script. Okay, called doctor and got new script with DAW. Express Scripts then called the doctor and "badgered" them to remove DAW. I know this because my doctor called me, angry about the issue, and said the office had to "argue" with Express Scripts to keep DAW on the script. Finally started getting brand name meds (this was 2014).
In 2015, I decided to stay with the local pharmacy, with the complete understanding that this would cost more, starting in month 5. To my surprise, in month 5, I received an automated phone call from Express Scripts explaining that my prescription was being filled and would be shipped in 2 to 5 days. This was on April 10, 2015. I called Express Scripts to find out what the prescription was -- and it was one of the maintenance meds.
I asked where they got the prescription. They said my doctor faxed it to them. I said, "That is strange." My doctor wrote me a script for 1 year in Dec 2014 and I have not been to the doctor since. Express Scripts then said I had to call my doctor to find out why that office sent the script. I did not call the doctor because I assumed it was a simple mistake. I very plainly instructed Express Scripts that I was refusing their mail order service going forward and that they were not authorized to send me any medicine. If my doctor sent a script, ignore it. Express Scripts assured me they would add this to my records.
Now -- today, 5/16 -- received a call from Express Scripts stating that my prescription was ready and would ship in 2 to 5 days. I called Express Scripts immediately and asked, "What prescription?" I was told it was one of the maintenance meds again. I asked where the prescription came from. The agent said my doctor faxed the script on 5/9 and Express Scripts was simply filling the order. I then said, "I have not seen my doctor since Dec. Who at Express Scripts contacted my doctor?" The agent then admitted that Express Scripts had received information that I had filled my existing script locally.
Since this was month 6, Express Scripts said they have the right to contact my doctor, request a new prescription, fill it, and charge me. That is not true. My plan does state that after 4 retail fills, Express Scripts has the right to stop covering the med -- which again, is okay with me. Nowhere in my plan does it state that Express Scripts will (without my consent) get a new script from my doctor and fill it. Angry does not describe my emotion right now.
Important to note -- this is not the first time this has happened. They have done same thing in the past. They tried to force me to pay for medicine that I did not order or request from them -- and this has happened twice before. Nowhere does my plan state Express Scripts has the authority to send me medication without my ordering it or my consent. And last time I checked, if a company ships something to you in the mail but you did not order it, you are not required to pay. My bigger question is -- How do I get them to stop? Apparently, my calling Express Scripts and demanding that they NOT ship medication to me is not enough. -- Frustrated.

First telling me that they did not receive a pre-authorization, then telling me that the prior pre-authorization was denied, then telling me that again that they did not receive the pre-authorization. Then telling me that the Doctor failed to put my shipping address on the Pre-Authorization (I have been using Medco/Express Scripts for 19 years, and have my address on file. Further, they had just sent me another medicine that same week). The prescription status posted on their order webpage says that I am not eligible to receive the prescription for ** until December 22, 2015... over 7 months from now (???).
When I asked questions about what is missing on the supposedly "denied" pre-authorization, I was told that they cannot talk to me, because I am not the doctor. I am caught in the middle... in the dark! The latest, 5/16/2015, response to my status inquiry says the pre authorization was denied (reviewed on 4/21/2015; strange, this review occurred one day before I ordered the refill on 4/22/2015??). My doctor again submitted the Pre-Authorization 5 days ago, and the response to my 5/16/2015 status query is to wait. I am running out of medicine, I cannot continue to blindly wait.
My doctor has been helpful to provide me with 30 days of samples to because the prescription was not filled by Express Scripts in April 22, 2015 when I requested prescription refill. He too is running out of samples to give away. I hate being lied to, and If I am not being lied to, and if Express Scripts records are so bad, that they cannot give me consistent, meaningful answers to my questions, they have no business being a Pharmacy.

Express Scripts denied a Prior Authorization without ever informing me. In a phone call they refused to tell me any reason or details of the denial. The representative did tell me I could file an appeal, but could not inform me how to do that. Stating it had was due to HIPAA laws. I was also informed that I could demand my physician write a prescription for one of the "better drugs" on their list of formulary drugs for chronic pain, such as extended release morphine or fentanyl transdermal patches, since I was 60 years old. The representative was not a pharmacist or physician, but that didn't stop them from giving me what I thought was medical advice.

This company doesn't even deserve 1 star. I am urging all consumers to contact their Unions and demand that they discontinue using Express Scripts as the company for their prescriptions. There are better plans out there - some even offered by local drug stores than what Express Scripts is doing. Their customer service is nonexistent and their changing of medications is intolerable. This is a top discussion for our Union members and hopefully we can eliminate them from our benefits for next year.

I called Express Scripts on May 7th, was given all the good dollar saving reasons that I should use their program. Gave them my debit card information and was set. On May 10th I called back and told them I wanted my debit card taken off of my file and to put the charge on another card. I was assured it would be done. On May 11th money was taken from checking account for this order. I called back on May 12th, spoke w/ a supervisor & was told that they could not see it on their end and not to worry it would come off of the other card and there should be no problem. I expressed my concern about an overdraft fee. I was told to call back if this happened. The supervisor assured me she was putting extensive notes on my account so that I should not have any issues if I did need to call back. I was charged an overdraft fee on May 13th.
I called back again being put on hold multiple times lasting over an hour. I was told this charge was showing on my debit card and no information was in the system about my request to have it charged on the other card. Also, because this order had started to process on my debit card, I should have been told this first payment would without a doubt come out of my checking account. I explained for the third time I wanted my debit card removed from this account. The CSR assured me that this would be done and the overdraft fee that was applied to my checking account would be refunded on my other card.
I explained that there now would also be a fee on another bill that I had paid, and the money was not in my account, because of the payment they took and I wanted reimbursed for that amount also. I was told they would not do that. I asked "Why? This is your fault not mine." Again, I was told "we just don't do that." I explained that they cannot mess with people's money like this. If I had the money to mess with, I would not need Healthcare Marketplace. OHHHH… Then I was told that they had to put in some sort of form to get my reimbursement and that could take up to 45 days because I was using Healthcare Marketplace. I withdrew from this program immediately. They make it sound so money saving and a good thing. I guess what they said is true, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true.

I have had to endure this criminal corporation for 7 years as I was FORCED to use them since Aetna dictates we use them or pay more at our local pharmacy. Most of the employees are incompetent, incoherent, and lie to you. Their computers also do not give them correct info OR they have NO idea how to locate your customer info. One time they woke my husband up at 7 am, and when I called to complain they claimed we were making it up. Until I got the pharmacy on a third party line with them and pharmacy said, "We tried to call you about the problem with your meds Sat morning but someone hung up."
I am against the corporatization/privatization of most services including health care. We should have medicare for ALL, make it better, FORCE Pharma to negotiate prices, and REMOVE all phone corporations posing as "healthcare" companies. I'm fighting for this. Anyone who wants medicare for all Google PDA (progressive Dems of America) and join Bernie Sanders campaign for President. They are working for medicare for all and money out of politics.

This is the most incompetent company that I have ever had to deal with and they have been entrusted by my husband's employer to oversee something as critical as our health! They send schedule 2 meds via USPS which are now being stolen. Worse Express Scripts refuses to refund the money or refill the prescription without a new script. Sent them the new scripts and they are refusing to refill because it's "too soon" and they are sending the prescription back!!!
If that's not bad enough, they have arbitrarily changed the actual dosages on my husband's meds without consulting him or his prescribing physician. They simply sent out 90 tablets of a 180 tablet script and my husband didn't catch it until he ran out after 6 weeks of his twice a day meds. When he called them they told him he "didn't need" the second daily dose and refuse to fill. This company is completely incompetent, and immoral at best! They should not be allowed to handle medications for veterinarian's, let alone physicians.

My company used them for 10-12 years when they were Medco and I never had a problem. Now that they are Express Scripts, it's been nothing but a nightmare. After two attempts and my nurse coming in on her off day to try and re-fax my Rx to ES, my doctor's office called to tell me there was nothing more they could do for me in obtaining my Rx with ES and I would either have to resolve the issue myself or be willing to take my Rx to a local pharmacy (and thus pay much more for it).
After calling ES and getting their rep to conference call me in to speak to someone on their doctor's line, did we finally accomplish getting the proper form faxed to my doctor. How extremely frustrating! The patient shouldn't have to be put in this position and now I feel I have a strained relationship with my doctor's office for the frustration they had with ES that now seems to be displayed on me, per their voicemail.
To make matters worse, even though this was the exactly same Rx I have had for years, this time ES split the order and required my signature for delivery on one of the items. I've never had to sign for it before and was never notified that this would be a requirement. I travel for work out of town almost every week and therefore no one can/will be home Mon-Fri to sign for a delivery!
If you have any option to use another service (even if it costs more), please do! I didn't realize how bad this company was until I had this issue and then started seeing similar disappointing reviews online. There is nothing convenient about this service. The saddest part is that receiving and filing Rxs is ALL that this company is in business for and they can't even get that right. If the doctor can't easily send in the Rx and then the patient can't have their Rx placed in their locked mailbox, then why even bother? Why won't our companies let us use local pharmacies for similar fees? Isn't this America???

I have multiple sclerosis and have to get my medicine through a specialty pharmacy. Accredo, which is Express Scripts' specialty pharmacy, is who I used. My husband and I were FORCED to use Express Scripts because of having Blue Cross and Blue Shield. First of all, I don't think a pharmacy has the right to tell anyone they are FORCED to use their services. I thought we live in a free country.
When I got my MS medicine in early February, the person on the phone set up the delivery and FAILED to inform me before sending the medicine that my copay assistance needed to be taken care of before finalizing the delivery. My medicine is over $4500/month and I've had copay assistance for the entire three years I've been on the medicine. This information was in Accredo's computer and they knew this. She also failed to inform me that I would have a $300 copay which, since I'm on a limited income, is difficult to pay.
My husband lost his job of 15 years about a week after I received my medication. I had talked to Accredo to inform them I was disputing the $300 copay because I was not properly informed before the medicine was shipped. They said they would look into it and flag the $300 as being in dispute so it wouldn't affect medication we are getting from Express Scripts. They failed to do so, they have never called me back, never resolved the issue, and just pushed it under the rug in hopes I would just give up pay. Well this time I'm not going to because we don't have that insurance anymore. I talked to a representative of Express Scrips and I explained this particular situation to him.
The clash between Accredo and Express Scripts has been going on now for 3 years. Even the company rep from my husband's job had to intervene on several occasions. I told him that nobody there is doing their job and I'm sick of always having to do everything for them to get this mess straightened out. He says "Did you say nobody is doing their job?" I said "yes" and he hung up on me. Now I'm sure that Express Scripts will just turn our account over to collections and I have already addressed the situation several times. Why doesn't the insurance governing agency step in and do something? As patients with serious medical issues, we shouldn't be bullied or have scare tactics used on us to get our much-needed meds. I'm sick of it.

The retired employee health insurance provided by the company I retired from provides my prescription coverage, which is with Express Scripts. I maintain a US address (which is monitored) for postal mail, but now have lived full time in Spain for almost three years. When we moved, I had active prescriptions with Express Scripts, which I had intended to leave expire and they were forwarded to me by the person who monitors my US postal mail. However two of those prescriptions never expired - even though it has been nearly three years since I've seen a US doctor.
I finally called to complain (and cancel) and was told that they have a system in which they send a notice to the doctor who issued the prescription that his prescription is about to expire and, if they get no cancellation notice from him, they ASSUME the prescription has been renewed and continue to fill it. They say doctors have to agree to this or else a normal refill will be required. There is, of course, no possible way that all these "notices" of upcoming expirations ever get to any doctor as their office staffs are obviously not going to "bother him" with anything routine they think they can handle. It seems to me that there was a legal requirement a few years ago that required ME to also reconfirm all renewals filled by mail. At least I was required to do that once.

My husband has been taking ** for a couple of years. Before they would fill the name brand, he was told he needed to try a generic equivalent, which was **. He did and broke out in hives and itching. He was then sent the **. On Monday 4/20/15, my husband went to his Doctor; because he had been experiencing itching all over his body for the last week. At this appointment he informed his Dr. he was taking no different medications or vitamins, other than that ones he has been taking the last couple of years, and he was still using the same soaps and detergents. His Dr. informed him he may have developed an allergy to the ** and to stop taking it. He did and the itching stopped.
Two days after he stopped taking it, I wondered if the Express Scripts had sent him ** instead of the ** the last time it was filled. When I checked the bottle, I discovered that it was not **, and lo and behold it was not **. They had sent **. I contacted Express Scripts on Wednesday, 2/22/15 and spoke to **. I asked why the ** had not been filled, and he explained that ** now came in a generic and that was sent. I told him about my husband's visit to the Dr. and that this generic had him itching all over his body. He stated that I would need to speak with their pharmacy dept. He did a three way call with **, in the pharmacy dept.
She stated that she would make a note in my husband's record that he could not take the **, in addition to the **. She also stated that the Dr. needs to write Brand Name only on the Prescription. I told her I would make sure of this. She went on to say that the prescription would be $90 for 90 days. I told her that was perfectly all right. She said the ** should be received in 5-7 days.
On 5/1/15, the medication had not been received, so I again called Express Scripts to see when it had been sent out. I was told by **, that it had not been sent out. It would have to be reviewed by the pharmacy dept. I asked him if he could look at notes from my previous phone call, where indeed I had spoken with ** from the pharmacy dept. He took a minute and came back on the line, and stated that every procedure and been followed on the previous phone call and he did not have an answer as to why it had not been sent out. He then gave me to his supervisor, **, as I told him I wanted to file a complaint.
** said they could do a fill out the local pharmacy, but would have to get a new prescription from the Dr. I told him that the Dr's office was closed and would not be available until Monday, so this was really an option. He did guarantee that the ** would go out Monday. And he said that someone would be following up on the complaint that I was filing. I had a message on my voicemail late Friday, 5/1/15. It was a ** who said that my husband should call back at 800-455-8352 and use the reference #**, between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm Eastern Standard Time.
My husband called back this morning, 5/4/15, at 9 am. He was told that the Dr. had ordered the generic by FAX on May 1, 2015, and then she corrected herself and said it was on Feb 15, 2015. She again stated that he could get a script from his Dr. and have it filled locally. He told her that he would just like to have is script mailed, and asked her when he should expect to receive it. She could not give an answer to this at all. He also asked if he could have a copy of what the Dr. faxed on Feb 15, to be faxed to him.
It is now 11:10 am and it still has not been received. We are wanting to see if indeed the Dr. ordered the generic. I am aware that if the Dr. does not indicate to fill with only the brand name, it is filled with the generic. I am even wondering if the Dr. knew there was now a generic available. Am trying to get this fax, so that I can take to Dr's office and let him know what has been going on. The patient should be informed that the medication has been changed to generic from brand when this happens, so that, if there is a reaction, they can notify their physician. My husband physician, at the appointment two weeks ago, was still under the assumption that my husband was on **, as was my husband.

They have insinuated themselves upon society via employers as "prescription insurance" and then decrease "coverage benefits" if you do not exclusively use them. The problem with using them has been that, in my experience, it takes 3-6 weeks to get a medication to me, and can easily take much longer. They are often unable to fill certain mg or mcg doses and then refuse to fulfill the script until I contact (pester, yet again) my doctor's office. It seems like they could contact the clinic since it is their issue. Their reps on the phone often lack the cognitive abilities to comprehend the problem much less being able to make the mental leap to fix the problem. Where do they find these losers?
The worst part of it all is all the money I have been forced to spend due to their medication malpractice as I have serious medical issues and do not have the luxury of going without most of my medications. If I submit a question about a problem, the answer is completely unrelated to the question. Next, if they choose to not fill either my request or something my doctor sends to them (which is often), they give no notice whatsoever. They simply "cancel" the order. I have spoken to them repeatedly requesting they at least let me know the request can't be processed, and they assure me they have fixed whatever setting is amiss, but the problem continues. They deny prescriptions because the prescriber wrote for tablet of a med, but only capsules are on the formulary.
The people I talk to on the phone have no idea whatsoever why prescriptions are denied. Then they say prior authorization is required. I get the prior authorization sent to them, but after repeated denials and going around in circles again after the PA, I find that I need yet another kind of prior authorization. My family members have 4 different products that require prior authorization, and they seem to expire about once a quarter. It seems like I have to go through this whole insane process every month or so since I am taking care of all three of these family members.
Finally they automatically sign you up for "worry free" refills even if you do NOT check the box! If the prescriber changes the prescription, I am stuck with medications that I don't need. This is akin to requesting to be on the "do not call" list but having the request ignored. I do NOT want the service! I am a pharmacist and can manage my prescriptions fine without help! I think the world should know that their customer service is sweet but clueless and useless, their prescription service is tedious and impossible to use, and if there are other options, they should seek them! As for me, I am stuck. I have no choice but to use them. Very sad.

My copay with medical mutual doubles for all prescriptions at the fourth fill in local pharmacies, so I had to go through express scripts mail order following my third fill at the pharmacy. I had my prescriptions sent electronically by my doctors WEEKS in advance to ensure they would be at least mailed to me to arrive on time when I ran out of the medication.
I had a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE THUS far, overall! I have had to call there over 20 times this week alone! No one has been of any help! Also, two weeks ago I mailed in the prescription scripts for two of my prescribed controlled substances, to their PO box in Cincinnati. I live in Cleveland, OH. Same state, and the two are not more than 2.5 hour drive from each other. They never "received" my scripts. 14 days later... This is absolutely absurd. They put me on hold for over 30 minutes today, so I ended up just hanging up the phone!
It is extremely unfair that Medical Mutual doubles the copay after the third fill in local pharmacies, because no matter how far in advance you have your stuff together and sent electronically through the doctor or by mail when controlled substance, you won't ever receive your prescriptions on time!!! Never again will I sign up w/ this company after 2015!

Three weeks after my prescription was called in it's still being processed. After speaking with the supervisor "Angela" my concerns were met with rudeness and ill manner. The call center representatives are ignorant about medications and have no idea the importance of injectable medications (I guess that is why they just answer the phone). Accredo needs to have at least one knowledgeable person working in the call center.

I have waited a month for my prescription to be filled through Express Scripts but a delay in the St. Louis Pharmacy has prevented fulfillment of my order. I have called daily to find out what the problem is but each time I speak to a supervisor, they are unaware of a problem. Each person says they will report my issue to the back office but it has not changed the problem with my order. I canceled all but one prescription and transferred them to Walgreens where they were filled within hours using the W card. However, one prescription is too expensive, therefore I am stuck with waiting on Express Scripts to ship my order. As of today, there is yet another 4 day delay without explanation. I have been told I am the only one experiencing this problem since no one else has contacted them. I do not recommend using Express Scripts but I am stuck with them and must wait until Friday to request an emergency supply. I don't even know what to do.

I called for a quote on ** from Express Scripts. I was told that the price was 33.44 for a month's supply o f**. I ordered this prescription and when it arrived they did not charge my account for 91.56 but 125.00. Oh, they misquoted the price and it was just an estimate!!!! They did say they would make an adjustment on this order, but the future orders would be charged at the higher rate. The person I spoke with said they can change their prices without informing the consumer. I have canceled my order. I think they should have made good on the price quote until the prescription ran out. Way to go Express Scripts - what bad customer service you have and dishonest customer service.

New York State Epic plan is paying Express Scripts 36.94 a month to help me pay my monthly premiums. Express Scripts insists that they have no record of these payments and that I should continue to pay the full Premium amount. Epic has contacted them numerous times, but Express Scripts insists they are still investigating. I am a senior citizen on Social Security. I am being ripped off big time by Express Scripts!

Transferred over to them to try 'mail order convenience'. Nothing has been convenient about this experience. I registered my credit card information, mailing address, etc. with them prior to having my prescriptions transferred over on my next doctor visit. The doctor transferred everything over to them, and now I am in customer service hell. They canceled the prescriptions for delivery. Contacted customer service. They said it was cancelled because I didn't provide payment information. Showed them I had already registered the information. Got a response back that they needed the shipping address. Went over with them the information again that was already set up in my account.
Waited, and order status still shows cancelled. Contacted them again. They said they never received payment information and also needed the shipping address? Seriously? Can they get their heads out of their ** for two seconds? Gave them the same information again. Checked status again this morning. Order shows cancelled. Emailed customer service. Guess what the response was? Yep.... "We need your payment information and shipping address." I'm going back to Publix pharmacy. I never had a problem there and I never should have switched in the first place. I will drive into town to get my RXs as the headache in dealing with ES is worse than the driving hassle!

I'll try to keep this brief, but here are some problems I had in the past. Keep in mind I am primarily an online consumer: On numerous occasions I have had difficulty with this company filling my prescriptions correctly. If you're not really careful about watching what you're doing online they will populate the auto-refill check box on new prescriptions unless you uncheck it. In my research I have found their generic prices are excessive when you can get the items cheaper elsewhere. Most recently I left my employer and I will be going on COBRA, but in the meantime they have wiped my prescription history clean. When I log in there is no history of my prescriptions whatsoever so I have no idea what was left regarding refills, etc. Why would they do this? They should have simply cut off my ability to refill a prescription but still give me access to my history and ability to transfer my prescriptions.
I have no idea how many refills I had available or what items remained in my account that I could access when I needed because I had pending prescriptions as well. I think this is an interference with my personal information and by denying me access should be against the law. I will NEVER use this company again EVER! And I will be certain to spread the word.

My provider or doctor submitted four prescriptions to Express Scripts. One week later Express Scripts notified me that they were processing my order. Two weeks later (no notification) I checked on the status. And the status was that the prescriptions could not be filled...because the prescriptions needed authorization from my provider or doctor. This order was sent in by my provider and authorization provided. This has happened to me numerous times. When ordering prescriptions from Express Scripts it takes on average a month to get them. But what are you to expect? They are a Federal Government entity. My recommendation to anyone that uses Express Scripts "Don't". They are bureaucratic and inefficient.

I use Express Scripts for my daily-use medicine needs and I spend a lot of time trying to get my orders straight and sent out in time. My doctor's office recently called in a script that should have been designated as 90 day but Express Scripts took it as 30 day. So, instead of paying $100 for 90 day's worth of a drug I take daily, I paid $100 for just 30 day's worth. Also, every time a doctor calls in a new prescription for me, I have to call Express Scripts to verify my address. I have lived in the same house for 21 years so it is not a matter of my doctors submitting an address that's different than the one on file at Express Scripts. If I don't call Express Scripts within two days of their message, they don't fill the script.
I never had these problems with Medco... Things seemed to run smoothly until Express Scripts took over. Unfortunately, there is no recourse here. I'm stuck with Express Scripts as my PBM and it would appear that Express Scripts just doesn't care and there is no oversight on how their inefficiencies affect our health and pocketbook.

I have been getting my prescriptions from my local pharmacy walgreens. I received an email from express scripts saying that I need to start ordering from them or I will have to pay full retail price for my meds. So I decide to call the customer service and ask about the email and she said thats right, they will not longer cover my meds if I didnt order from them.
But the problem is I pay around $6.00 for my 90 day supply with my local pharmacy. Why would I want to order from them when I have to pay $25.00. How can they force people to buy from them. Now I'm forced to spend money that I dont have just because they are forcing people to get the meds from them. Is this legal? Can someone step up and do something?

Medications take 5 days or more for delivery via US Post office (enough said). When I call them because my package has not arrived after 7 days, I am told to call the post office and give them the 15 digit tracking number... Express Scripts NEVER OFFERS TO DO THAT FOR YOU LIKE MOST COMPANIES. So, the package is lost. Now what? Your 90 days script has been filled. It cannot be refilled. You have to file a claim/fine - BUT HOW DO I GET MY MEDS. I had to call my dr. who wrote me a 30 day supply until this could get straightened out. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY. Insist your prescriptions get filled locally!!!

If you have another option for a pharmacy besides Express Scripts please use them because Express Scripts is the absolute worst company. Poor service, poor processes, and fraudulent business practices. If I could give them 0 stars I would. I use Express Scripts because my employer's health plan requires me to. There have been numerous mistakes by Express Scripts in the 5 months I have dealt with them in addition to their poor customer service such as: Contacting my doctor's office by fax, not getting a response (because the # they were faxing to was not a fax line but a phone line) so put my heart medication on hold without calling me. Their response was "Well we're a big company."
With concern over my cost of a non generic medication ($250), I asked Express Scripts to cancel the order and to not ship it. I spoke w/ a supervisor who confirmed the cancellation. Several days later a new prescription for the same medication was electronically sent to Express Scripts. Express Scripts subsequently shipped the new order and the cancelled order.
Now the big one: Express Scripts allows you to split prescription expenses in thirds--beneficial when several meds cost hundreds of dollars each. Consequently, you need to provide your card to Express Scripts to keep on file. Express Scripts owns a specialty pharmacy called Accredo. Accredo dispenses a very expensive medication which the manufacturer has a reimbursement program paid directly to Express Scripts. Within the past week we noticed a charge on our Express Scripts account for over $4,500. We have inquired several times about the charge and we were informed it was a coding error and would be corrected.
After checking the balance on my American Express Card account which seemed unusually high, upon further investigation saw a charge made on Sunday 3/29 by Express Scripts for $4,500. which was obviously unauthorized. We called Express Scripts to inquire but they had no answers. It is currently in dispute with American Express as a fraud claim for unauthorized use of my card number. Please avoid Express Scripts at all cost if you can.
