I have been buying TotW for many years for my 2 dogs. I bought a bag of the Venison formula on December 13th. Both dogs seemed to be experiencing less healthy bile movements for about a week. This escalated early morning on December 23rd when one dog had several serious diarrhea accidents in the house. I took my dogs with me while running errands so that I could let them out of the car every 15-20 minutes. The serious diarrhea continued throughout the day, and the normally very excited, hungriest dog became super lethargic and had no appetite. I got her to eat rice at about 9pm that night. Around 2 am, she threw up the rice and then continued to vomit consistently throughout the night -- her diarrhea and vomit were pureblood by morning.

She was admitted to the ER, needed hydration, a shot to stop her from vomiting and was put on anti-diarrheal meds. After a week of a bland diet and starting to get back to normal, I started to ease her back into the food - not suspecting that was the cause - and then she had a seizure-like episode. My other dog is now experiencing blood in her urine. I am so thankful that I looked online to see if other folks were experiencing issues... And I'm thankful my one pup seems stable and recovering. I may be taking the other to the ER now. [I already have a huge vet bill and have to get my car detailed based on all of the bloody diarrhea and vomit from the poor pup getting to the ER :(]

We have three dogs and our Bichon kept having severe diarrhea, mucus and blood in her stool on and off on a regular basis for months. Vet visit revealed nothing in particular. We finally figured out that she was sometimes getting into the food we buy for our Pit in the middle of the night: Taste of the Wild Roasted Bison and Venison dry food. It was when she ate the Taste of the wild she would have bloody diarrhea by the early morning that would last 1-3 days. This is not specific to one particular bag or purchase but the brand/flavor in general. Even though our Pit seemed fine with it we decided to switch out with a different brand and haven’t had issues with the new food.

I am currently in contact with TOTW. I have been feeding my dogs TOTW Pacific Stream for YEARS with no issues. Bought a new bag in November, and not long after starting it, my female bulldog became VERY ill, lethargic, stool like water, no appetite, discomfort. We took her to the vet and found her pancreatic numbers raised. We started bland low fat food. Her littermate stopped eating kibble, too and was given the same diet--I figured he was jealous of the fancy food she got. He developed constipation and vomited bile when I tried giving him the kibble. We threw out the bag and contacted COTW, who said they'd check things out and refund the cost. They never called back.

After a long period of lots of meds, stress, and bland food, my female recovered, her numbers dropped, and the vet said to wait a few days and try to slowly introduce the Pacific Stream back. I bought a new bag from the same store, did so, and she became runny after one feeding of just a little kibble. We put them back on the bland diet. When she seemed normal, I tried AGAIN to gradually re-introduce it. She became ill again, liquid stool, lethargic, throwing up bile. Back to the vet. Her levels are fine. Her litter mate soon became ill, too. Just like her: lethargy, watery stool, vomiting bile. Loss of appetite and lots of gas.

I called TOTW again, the staff vet, who is a wonderful lady, apologized for not following through the last time, told me they've not heard other issues, said the formula is the same, but there is a new plant (she says the variety they have isn't made there) and said she's going to follow through. Now I come on here and find a number of people having the EXACT same issues I am.

I'm going to hazard a few guesses: they have a relatively new supplier of an ingredient they use in a few varieties of kibble, and that ingredient is sub-par or contaminated. This seems like Salmonella. OR, someone working in the factory is somehow screwing up or not clean. OR, they ARE making the food at the new plant, or part of it, and there's something wrong there. I do hope there's follow through; my dogs have been happily eating TOTW for a long time, and these new issues are expensive -- I should probably just move into my vet office, stressful (for me and my dogs), and frightening. The company has been (aside from one burble) VERY responsive and VERY concerned...but I do think perhaps with so many people having the same issue, they need to look into their suppliers and check for Salmonella, maybe do a recall until they have it worked out.

Diana - We do care about your bulldogs and understand your frustration with them not getting and staying well. In speaking with your veterinarian, we understand their case has not been an easy one to solve. We will stay in touch until they are well. Every batch of food goes through extensive quality and safety tests prior to being released for sale, including tests for Salmonella. All of our plants follow the same food safety protocols.

I've been feeding my 2 1/2 year old husky/coonhound mix ToTW Pacific Stream Canine Formula with Smoked Salmon for about a year now. A recent bag (Oct 2017 order) that I purchased through Chewy.com seemed to be a questionable bag. There were no issues with the packaging, but the food had a bad smell that was not consistent with past bags. My dog threw up and had diarrhea for a couple of days. I ended up throwing the bag away and opening up my Nov 2017 ToTW shipment. The Nov 2017 shipment smelled better and Lucy hasn't had issues since.

I haven't had any problems with ToTW aside from that Oct 2017 bag, so I'm not dissatisfied with my experience. In fact, I just want to get to the bottom of this and help facilitate a recall if a bad batch is the culprit. I have placed a sample of the Oct 2017 ToTW Pacific Stream Canine Formula with Smoked Salmon in a Ziploc and would like to work with ToTW to get it tested. Either this will clear ToTW's name or get a bad batch out of the hands of pet owners, so it's a win-win in my eyes.

My 11 year old has been on Taste of the Wild Prairie for years with no problems. Two weeks ago she ate her morning meal and 3 hours later was quivering, shaking, lethargic, are running a fever. Took her to the emergency vet who ran several tests, fever of 105.3 and white blood cell count 1100 and septic. Had to keep her there for more tests, her symptoms did not improve and she was kept on an IV another day for more tests. She did not survive. With all the process of elimination tests there was no explanation why within 3 hours she went downhill so fast. No other health issues ever. I'm not saying it was Taste of the Wild but I'm surely suspicious and have to come to my own conclusion this is the only thing that makes sense to me.

My review of this product is based upon having many dogs for nearly 50 years. In general, our dogs have always been part of our family and have lived long, healthy, trouble-free lives. Over the years our selection of dog food has changed as we have learned more. That brings us to this review. We ended up with Taste of the Wild Pine Forest Canine Formula by researching ingredients and nutritional composition. One of our German Shepherds seemed to have an allergic reaction to the protein and/or grains in the foods we were using. We had used Science Diet, Iams and Eukanuba for decades with our dogs with absolutely no issues. This dog needed something different.

We were talked into Natural Balance Sweet Potato & Venison which worked great but is pretty expensive and had lower protein for what our dogs need. Our goal was to find a reasonably priced, high protein, grain free, venison based dry dog food... Taste of the Wild Pine Forest. Our input is that this dog food has the right ingredients, has the right nutritional composition, the company has no class action lawsuits against it, has no present product recalls and Taste of the Wild Pine Forest is working great for our dog(s). This company is super responsive to consumer concerns, questions and affairs. They respond quickly, thoroughly and honestly. There should be no hesitation in dealing with this company and their products.

Recent batch of TOTW Dog Food Pacific Stream made our husky sick. Our husky has been on TOTW for years now and has done well. However, the most recent batch we ordered from Amazon in November made our dog very sick within 48 hours of her switching to the new bag of food. She was vomiting and refused her food which never happens. She always eats her breakfast and dinner as soon as the food is in the bowl. Took her to the vet, no temperature or other symptom indicators besides the vomiting, malaise and not eating. After a few days of homemade chicken and rice, she seems to be back to normal, but it was very scary to see her so lethargic and not wanting to eat. There must have been a recent formula change or some sort of contamination in their batch of food, but we will not be buying this food again. Just for reference, we live in the UK, but we have fed her this food both when we lived in the US and the UK.

I have been a buyer of the Wetlands and High Prairie Taste of Wild for the last 3 years. Recently my youngest and smallest dog started vomiting and has diarrhea. Now both of my other dogs a middle and larger dog have the same symptoms. By the time my largest dog got sick the smallest was doing better until I returned her to the TOWHP. After reading many other recent reviews I am taking my dogs off of this food and trying another. The dogs have not been so sick that they stop eating but the urge to defecate and the runny nature of their feces is enough for me to try something else besides homemade batches of cooked chicken and white rice which they are all on currently. Would like to know more from other users of this dog food.

I have 5 dogs and 4 cats. For the past 7 years I have been feeding my dogs and cats Taste of the Wild dry food. On 4/17 I took my 13 year old Himalayan cat to the vet after he started to have very loose stools with a horrific odor, he also had trouble walking. After medication nothing improved and I thought it was because of his age. This Nov. my dogs started passing gas with the same horrific odor. Since I work in the animal industry I had customers mention to me about their dogs passing very foul smelling gas. When I asked what they were feeding their dogs they said Taste of the Wild! I switched my dogs and cats to Merrick dry and all the foul odor stopped and my old cat is back to normal.

The next morning I let him out and he was starting to defecate. His energy level has been just fine. Again, same scenario the next night. Granted on Monday I switched him from Fromm puppy to the TOWT puppy food and did not do a gradual transition because we were out of the FROMM and I would think that if it were just the food brand change the diarrhea would have started much sooner. After reading all these reviews I am taking this food back to the place I purchased it. I also have Experienced recently a huge difference in the quality of food from Taste of the Wild. I mean as far as my Rottweiler has been on their formula for 8 so months now. He is on the Bison Venison Yellow Adult bag. In the past I noticed sometimes he would vomit occasionally here and there and had diarrhea but for me that was normal. A big dog like this goes out in the yard and chews on anything. But the past few weeks he has been vomiting every other day and has had Diarrhea for the past 3 days. We Recently acquired a new puppy an English Mastiff which is a big breed as well. The Breeder had the pup on Blue Buffalo Formula and I switched him to Taste of the Wild Puppy chow Bison-Venison bag. After 2 days he is Constantly having diarrhea and today he just vomited twice so I put two and two together and came up with a solution that the food Definitely has something to do with it.

But here comes the best part. I called the company. Spoke to an representative. She advised me that there was nothing wrong with the food that it’s FDA approved. I asked to look at records of the FDA. I was like, "What about all the reviews that I’m reading on this site." They said that site is fake and those people are liars. She connected me with the vet. The vet said she can give me a number to the FDA for pet control. I told her I can get that myself if anything but can they share the Documents that the FDA had Supposedly done testing to random bags. She said she can’t share that info but I can call them. I mean wouldn’t that make sense to show someone that has a concern about the food, like here we have it approved from tests but instead she wants me to call the FDA myself which I will probably never get ahold of.

I told the vet, "Well this conversation is not getting anywhere," and she replied, "Likewise," and hung up on me. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. I will never buy this brand again and I hope that all the dog owners out there Get educated on this brand. Keep away from it. It was good in the past. I experienced slight differences within the months. I think the quality just went down. All the people on this site obviously have experienced something similar with this company and they have nothing to show for it. Let’s hope they go down. Down the drain is where they should be.

My 11 year old Lab has been eating TOTW Pacific Stream flavor for about 5 years. She been healthy, and seem to love it. But two weeks ago (Thanksgiving 2017) she started having diarrhea, and it looked "pink" at first. We called the vet, vet said to feed her boiled chicken & rice for a few days, she probably ate something that didn't agree with her. We stopped feeding her the dog food, and she slowly improved. We began mixing some dog food in with the chicken & rice after a few days, to wean her back on it, and the diarrhea would come right back, and she'd also lose her appetite.

We took her to the vet after a week. They could find no obvious issues, I brought a stool sample to check for parasites, negative. No fever, no pains that were apparent. Vet gave us antibiotics and probiotics, with instructions to give them to her for 5 days, twice a day each, but hours apart so they didn't contradict each other. Just an hour ago, I was discussing this with our granddaughter, and she alerted me to these reviews, as her Husky had the same issue, with the same food a while back, and there was a recall. The bag I was feeding her from was purchased early November 2017 from Tractor Supply, she began eating from it about a week before the symptoms showed up.

Symptoms are exactly like many others' dogs have had very recently in other reviews, and food was bought around the same time. Diarrhea with a bloody colored mucus on occasion, and she'd be straining to get it all out. A day or two back on the chicken & rice only, she'd improve. She only vomited once or twice at the start. The diarrhea would return when we tried giving her the dog food with the chicken & rice. After reading the reviews here, we're putting two & two together. It's far too much of a coincidence to not make this food, especially as of the last 2 months, very suspect. She will not eat any more of it, and I'm contact in my vet on Monday to see if he can test the food. We still have the bag it came in. We just hope we stopped in time, and not too late if there's something in the food that shouldn't be.

When I emailed the CS REP this am and told her Smokey had passed away... All communication ceased! I also contacted the retailer and explained in no way did we feel they were liable, but it was our wish for the concern of the animals. They immediately remove the food from the shelf at the location we purchased from! No reply! My Vet is contacting FDA... We are so sad and heartbroken! #alldogsgotoheaven.

As pet owners, we know how much your pet meant and are sorry for your loss. Your veterinarian tested Smokey for salmonella, but did not test the food for salmonella. We talked to the FDA. They have all the facts and said they are satisfied the food is safe. We follow a strict food safety protocol where all food is tested for salmonella by an independent, third-party lab before it is released for sale. That is why we are confident that our food is free from salmonella when we release it for sale.

Our 2 year old GSD has been on High Prairie and High Prairie Puppy since we brought her home at 8 weeks. Like other reviews here, there was a distinct change around October 2017. She's been more itchy, and was on antibiotics for diarrhea. She's eating her own feces, doesn't want to eat most days, and one of her ears is drooping (a sign of nutritional issues in GSDs). Then I find all of these reviews. We'll be seeing the vet, switching to a bland diet for a few days, and finding something else.

A little over two weeks ago my dog, Jett, started to vomit and have diarrhea uncontrollably. He seemed to get better after we fed him rice and chicken so we concluded it was only garbage gut but then he progressively got so sick over the next few days that we took him to the vet and they hospitalized him for three days with an IV drip and constant supervision. They couldn't find any intestinal blockages and the bloodwork came back normal so they released him but my dog was still violently ill, losing weight, and becoming lifeless.

My mom suggested we switch the food then look up reviews after hearing about the RECALL of this brand and here is where we found multiple reviews mentioning the same severe medical issues, a few dogs even died. Luckily, we caught it in time and after switching Jett is back to his old self. DO NOT BUY THIS DOG FOOD! After 2,500 dollars in vet bills, we found our solution. This food is poison, and more dog owners need to know.

I took him to the vet thinking he may have gotten into something he shouldn't have, but the vet couldn't find anything wrong. Three days later, my older dog had the same symptoms. She became very lethargic with diarrhea and vomiting. We ended up taking her to the vet. They diagnosed her with pancreatitis. They started him on the normal treatment but she never got any better. After a couple days the vet took her in for surgery and found that she was suffering from massive organ failure, she was put down to avoid further suffering. The vet said it could have been a toxin in her diet. I have had my cats on the same brand but I can tell you now after reading all these reviews they will be eating something else. I thought maybe because it was summer going into fall he was just eating less. Recently, he will eat and purge grass, do the butt scoot, and did have a little diarrhea. He is still drinking water and will eat meat and rice I cook for him just fine. He is playful and alert. Luckily, he is about to go in for his yearly wellness check up. I plan on discussing all of this with his vet. For now, after reading up on TOTW complaints and him not wanting to eat the food, I've decided not to feed him anymore TOTW to be safe. I usually give Taste of the Wild Salmon to my two Long-haired dachshunds and like to switch it up with Bison. In this opportunity after switching to the bison flavor gradually nothing happened. When I opened the second bag one of the dogs became really sick with diarrhea and vomiting, I decided not to give too much thought on whether it was the food, giving the opportunity of the doubt that maybe she had eaten something in one of her walks. The next day my 3-year-old dachshund woke us up with what was severe diarrhea.

They had been sick before but not like this, (excuse the graphic content) but it was not only explosive but full of mucous and a rainbow a colors. I don't feed my dogs anything besides their kibble and occasional steamed chicken and did great. After reading all of the reviews I am certain it was the food as no other time before had both of my dogs been sick. I had them on bland diet for 3 days (where they still had extreme mucous) proceeded to giving them **. I live in the Dominican Republic so there are not a lot of food options for dogs, so I have started a homemade diet until I can find something better for my two doxies. Started him off on the TOTW Pacific Stream: Puppy Formula, and would switch to the High Prairie: Puppy Formula every so often just for a different taste pallet change. Did great on both. Since switching him to the Adult (All life stages) formulas, he's tried almost all of them. I would say the Lamb formula gave him terrible breath. He seemed to like the Pacific Stream the best. As of now, TOTW just came out with a new limited ingredient formula called, PREY, and he has been on the PREY: Trout formula and has done great! He seriously launches all 4 legs off the ground repeatedly when am measuring out his food! Haha. No complaints whatsoever! He has a very nice coat, never itches, highly energetic, and solid healthy stools.

Pretty sure the majority of these reviews about TOTW are fake. I have personally convinced about 6 other dog owners to switch to TOTW, and have heard nothing but positive feedback! Almost immediately on that food he had bloody diarrhea and itchy bumps all over. Changed to EVO, no more blood, but still diarrhea! Just changed to Taste of the Wild again despite the reviews as it is the only thing that has helped him so far and within 24 hours of feeding it to our Bull Terrier his poops are perfect again.

I'm sure if a company had a dog food that was causing kidney failure it would be shut down very quickly. The Nutro Ultra gave my dog bloody, liquid poops that lasted an incredibly long time but I don't blame the food for being poison! It is simply something that did not agree with my dog. Holy cow. We had our mastiff on TOTW for a few months in late 2016 and early 2017. She likes it, her stools looked good, her coat was beautiful, no issues. Out of nowhere she got uncontrollable, bloody diarrhea. Mona is a rescue and was severely underweight when we got her so we were in a panic. Our vet gave us some antibiotics and a dewormer. She also told us to do a chicken and rice diet and then switch foods immediately. We didn't really have time to diagnostically run down what was going on, we just hit her with anything and everything. It cleared up immediately and we never knew what it was specifically that caused her to have a horrifying amount of blood in her stool.

Fast forward 8 months and I see on a Mastiff Facebook page and I see folks bashing TOTW. Other mastiff owners had similar issues as us. Sure enough, I start googling and doing research and TOTW seems to have dropped the ball somewhere. I'm surprised there hasn't been a recall but it doesn't seem widespread enough. I see a lot of folks in Texas complaining and that may have something to do with it. I'm not sure.

I didn't reach out to TOTW but I had ordered the food from Chewy. I had ordered 2 bags and 1 was unopened. I wanted to return it, and Chewy was great. They issued me a refund no questions and told me to donate the bag (seemed like an awesome gesture at the time but now I feel bad). Then they express shipped me, no shipping cost to me, 2 bags of Rachel Ray. Haven't had issues since. I can't say definitely it was TOTW. Soon after, she started being unable to last through the night, so had to sleep in the kitchen. This was hard on an old dog who had always slept on the human bed. Later, we were visiting and she suddenly messed the hosts' living room rug! I sadly chalked it up to 'old age', and after that, she had to be left home. Our six year old dog has been eating Taste of the Wild Sierra Mountain (Lamb) formula for over five years without any known issues. A few months back, I noticed that the food in a new bag (Taste of the Wild Sierra Mountain (Lamb)) I had just opened looked different - the kibbles were smaller and darker than they had always been. Our dog kind of didn't want to eat it, but did go ahead and eat most of the first bowl (He normally always cleaned his bowl). Over the next several feedings, he ate a little bit more and finally got back to his usual habit of cleaning his bowl. Now fast forward to today. I had picked up a new bag of food (Taste of the Wild Sierra Mountain (Lamb)) and again I immediately noticed that the kibble shape was different, thinner, and the color was lighter. So at breakfast, he would not eat a single kibble. He sniffed the food, got a small mouthful, chewed once, and then spit it out.

I could not get him to eat another single piece. So I temporarily wrote it off as him not feeling well or just not wanting to eat. He went the rest of the day without eating anything. Tonight, I made his usual dinner - some TOTW Lamb dry food with (on this particular night, some cooked ground chicken on top.) He ate every last particle of ground chicken but would not touch the TOTW dry food. There were several kibbles of dry food in the floor, all around his bowl from where he had selectively spit those out while eating the ground chicken - he normally always cleans his plate and there is not a single piece of food or kibble left. I handed him a single kibble and he literally turned his head away and backed up. I know he had to be very hungry but still he would not touch the TOTW food. Luckily I had a sample bag of another dog food that I had purchased a few days before to use as treats/tricks.

I put a handful of this food on the floor and he quickly ate all of it. So I put about a cup in his bowl and he also immediately ate. I don't know what has happened to this company or this food, but something has changed with TOTW. I know my dog well and I am positive that something (bad) has happened to this food. This seems to be further confirmed after I jumped online and did a quick search for TOTW and found this site with several very similar and recent reviews. I wanted to add my feedback because I too want people to know about this food. As of now, I will never purchase Taste of the Wild food (of any type) again. I am going to switch to an Orijen/Acana mix. Orijen is a higher quality food anyway.

Tomorrow I plan to return to the store and just see if I can get a refund or a partial refund, for this bag of (apparently crap) that I just bought. It is pretty pathetic when your dog has eaten a specific type of food (TOTW Lamb formula) for years and all of the sudden will not even touch it. I can tell you that in my case, it is NOT my dog - it is the food! Dog owners, be aware! I would NOT buy this food!

I have been feeding my dogs Taste of the Wild Sierra Mountain for over 2 years, dogs loved it. Bought a bag last week. My older Jack Russell became ill the first night with diarrhea and not wanting to eat. I took him off the food thinking he is 13 now and is just an older dog has a sensitive tummy, gave him chicken and rice. He's fine and switched him to Blue Buffalo Senior. Then last night my 5 year old Queensland Heeler with a cast iron stomach had projectile diarrhea and vomiting. She doesn't want to even touch rice with chicken broth. Have her on pro-biotics and keeping an eye on her today hoping we don't need to make a trip to the vet. Coincidence??? I had heard Taste of the Wild was bought out by Diamond who I never feed to my dogs, I will be heading to the feed store today to purchase a different brand of dog food and will not recommend Taste of the Wild any longer. Pissed me off, I just bought a new 30 lb bag.

I had heard of the recent negative reviews of TOTW, however given the fact that our 4 year-old Siberian Husky has eaten it for the past year without issue, we elected to continue feeding it to her with close monitoring. She has historically been a very picky eater, so switching foods for her is no easy feat. At her regular 6 month check-up in June she was in good health and all lab values were within normal ranges. We bought new bags of TOTW Sierra Mountain & High Prairie Canine formulas in August. We noticed that she was much more interested in eating grass over the coming weeks, but never lost full interest in her food and never had any overt GI symptoms.

In early September she underwent routine lab work prior to a planned dental cleaning, where we discovered that she had a new transaminitis, indicating significant liver dysfunction likely caused by poisoning. We spoke with the vet regarding the liver dysfunction and the recent concerns regarding TOTW, and elected to trial her on a new diet for a month. After repeating lab work yesterday, her transaminitis has completely resolved and she no longer excessively consumes grass. While it's difficult to say that TOTW was absolutely the cause of her liver issues, it seems way too coincidental given the resolution with diet change and the other similar reports. Either way, we feel incredibly lucky to have caught the issue early prior to the significant GI issues setting in.

First I am disturbed to read so many negative reviews with experiences very similar to ours. Secondly I am disappointed with the "poor" attitude Taste of the Wild corporate had in response to our dogs being ill. Jan-Feb of 2017 one of our Aussies developed stomach problems, problems sleeping, vomiting and "explosive" diarrhea. After four trips to the vet, thousands of dollars later, medication and no real results. Then our second Aussie started having the same problems (but not as serious, yet). We could not figure out what was the problem. Then my wife saw the reviews.

We immediately stopped using Taste of the Wild Bison and BOOM. The dogs got better. More active. Better coats. No more Taste of the Wild-No more problems. Then we thought let’s contact Taste of the Wild to give them a heads up. First person we talked to just made excuses and said "social media is killing them". Then a vet from Taste of the Wild called and said there in no way both the dogs got sick at the same time (Hum maybe if the food is bad both would get sick). Then a second vet from Taste of the Wild called asking for our Vets records. We obliged. Then he wants to blame anything but the food. Taste of the Wild needs to deal with their food quality issues before they starting killing dogs.

My dogs have been on Taste of the Wild for 2 years, and I’ve been satisfied up until this point. My dogs normally are enthusiastic about their food and have been on TOTW Pacific Stream for about two years. I purchased a bag in August, which is where the trouble started. Like what so many others have described, all three of my dogs had to be coaxed to eat, only to have them vomit, eat tons of grass, lethargic, and appearing unsteady on their feet. Thinking that maybe the particular bag was bad, I went to a different retailer to purchase a different bag. The same reaction, if not worse occurred. I even tried feeding it to the chickens, who eat EVERYTHING and they want nothing to do with it. Even the squirrels have not touched what is on the ground.

The two bags have different production codes and best by dates: Bag one is production code 0710, best by 15 Jul 2018. Bag two is production code is 0410, best by 21 Apr 2018. After I saw that there was a problem, I fed the dogs scrambled eggs until I could get a different brand, with the eggs they had no problem or reaction. I switched them to another brand of dog food and they’re back to their usual interest in eating, their energy level has returned, and no one has vomited since the switch. I contacted the company and provided them information on the batches that I had purchased. They asked for detailed information about my dogs and the reactions that they have had. I found it interesting that they said, "We take every reported concern very seriously. We log reports into our system and investigate each one thoroughly.

We do not have any product recalls and are not investigating any clusters of issues that appear to be connected ". There's almost 200 reviews for TOTW here, several of which have stated that they have contacted the company. They did offer me my money back if I send in the production stamps from the bags and either a receipt or information about where I bought the bags and the price paid. I'm not going to do that just yet. If I cut the codes out of the bags and send it in I'll have no proof. I would suggest that if you have the information available (or even if you don't), that you contact the company.

I went to the website on their bag, www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com, and entered a general comment on the "contact us" link. Give them as much in the way of details as you have, and save the sent email. This isn't a vendetta against TOTW, I loved their food but there's obviously a problem. I'm saddened to hear of real physical damage or death, with too many similarities to ignore the pattern.

That's when he out of nowhere started having massive diarrhea attacks. After reading these other reviews, I now realize this was from a recent purchase of a new bag of TOTW food because he has not been exposed to or ingested anything out of the norm. Clearly Diamond brands has an issue they need to address.

My experience is similar to what I'm reading that others have experienced. They have been on TOW for over two years and have been enthusiastic at meal time up until this month. I bought their usual flavor, Pacific Stream, and they started behaving odd. They would sniff their food and rather than eating it they would just look at it or look to see if their buddies had something different. When I urged them to eat they would reluctantly, but would quit as soon as I stepped back. They would also vomit frequently and were eating tons of grass. I went to a different store and bought another bag thinking that the first store may have stored it in conditions that caused that bag to go bad, but they reacted the same. When I saw one of my dogs eat a few bites and then vomit right next to his bowl, I knew that there was a problem at the manufacturer and not at the retail level.

Everything was fine until June 2017. My Golden Boxer started acting lethargic and became very inactive. He started eating his food sparingly and picked at it. Then in August 2017... I bought 2 new bags of food: Adult and Puppy. My Golden Boxer had terrible diarrhea 3 times a night for several nights in a row and then didn't want to eat his food. My puppy went on a food strike and stopped eating his food almost altogether. He used to gulp all of his food down and then all of a sudden... He didn't even want to eat any of it.

I went back to Pet Supplies Plus and they helped me pick a new food. I mixed the two foods together (like I was told to) - and my puppy picked up lots of food in his mouth and dropped it on the floor. Then he started pushing the pieces of food apart and was only eating the pieces of new food. I'm a normally pretty low drama person... but, this whole situation has me convinced there is something weird going on with this brand. I'm done.

He stopped eating and drinking, so after 2 days we brought him in to the vet. He continued to refuse to eat or drink for 2 more days. He is currently taking some heavy duty antibiotics. He is responding to them and is starting to eat chicken and rice. I asked the vet about salmonella poisoning. Maybe coincidental, but he was perfectly fine before and with his previous food. Maybe do some research, Taste of the Wild is actual under Diamond Dog Food Inc., which does have a reputation for recalls. I have our puppy on Fromm and once the older dog is better, he will be going on Fromm as well. Hopefully this saves a parent from expensive vet bills.

How very disturbing it is to read all of these reviews. I am seeing so many similarities in the experience I have been having with my 2 dogs. An 8 yr old shepherd mix and a 6 yr old shi-tzu. They have been on TOTW for 6 yrs now, with no issues. But over the past month or so, it has been a see-saw of upset stomachs and diarrhea between the two. It started with my shi-tzu, but my first thought was his heartworm medicine, since it was a possible side effect. But after a day or two, he seems to only want to lay around and is using the bathroom much more than normal.

And last night was the peak, my shepherd woke me up 4 times through the night to go out. Something that she never does. Her stools were runny and dark. And now she is itching and biting at her feet. I just spoke to my vet, and they recommended they stop eating their food, but would not go as far to say that there was a problem with the food. And I am embarrassed to say that I did not know until the vet told me, that TOTW is produced by Diamond. I wish I would have done my research ahead of buying this food. The last brand of dog food that my shepherd ate was Diamond, and she had all kinds of issues. Allergies, hair loss and digestive issues. Never again will I be so casual with choosing a new dog food for my babies. Going to follow my vet's recommendation.

Well, all was well until I purchased my recent 30 lb. bag from TSC. I began feeding it a couple days ago and it has been a nightmare. The Doberman started with diarrhea so bad he woke me up last evening which he has never done and today, while out hiking, he had diarrhea with quite a large amount of blood.

I am completely stressed out and will be making a decision today to switch dog foods. I have spoken to the vet and I will fast him until this evening and then feeding white rice and boiled ground beef (he is allergic to chicken). We have changed NOTHING in his environment to cause any stress nor anything in his diet other than a new bag of food. Time to go off the TOTW and that makes me upset, but my dog's health is more important!

I have 3 dogs, all have been eating TOTW for the past 3 years. They have always been good on this food. About a month ago they stopped wanting to eat their food. They literally would walk up to it and turn and walk away so I would add some water to give it a little gravy to try and get them to eat it. Then they would frequently vomit and seemed to have a loss of energy.

So I walked into Pet Value and explained my situation and asked for help in picking out a new food and that's when she said to me that I wasn't the first one to say this to them. In fact a lot of people are switching their food from TOTW because either their dogs wouldn't eat it anymore or they were becoming sick. I am disgusted that my fur babies were eating something toxic. Our dogs trust us to take care of them and we trust the food manufacturer to deliver the best and healthiest food possible.

I always had to get ground turkey and boneless chicken and mix it with his Hill's Prescription Diet food to get him to eat. It's a lot of work and it's draining. I finally took a chance and bought Taste of the Wild. The Venison and Bison one. I got it from chewy.com. I didn't even slowly mix it from one dog food to the other, I just immediately started giving them The Taste of the Wild. He literally sits and waits for me to put it in the bowl and he eats it right up. I just can't believe what I'm seeing for the past 3 days how much my dog actually enjoys eating this dry dog food. I've been reading all these complaints and I am completely baffled by it.

Only the first day when I did the immediate switch from his old dog food to the new one he had one time he had a wet stool. Besides that his poop has been much better and he is totally enjoying his new Taste of the Wild dog food. I highly recommend it to anyone that has a dog that is a picky eater. I've never seen my dog enjoy a dry dog food the way he has been doing so far the past 3 days.

Taste of the Wild was the preferred brand from the breeder and I was suggested to use it. On August 2nd I bought a bag of the Prairie Canine Formula with roasted bison & roasted venison from a local feed store. Within two days of feeding it to a 2 & a Half month old puppy, the pup became extremely lethargic, sleeping all day long and was consistently throwing up whenever he was awake. Constantly urinating even though the water intake was minimal. His health went downhill fast losing a significant amount of weight. He was brought to the vet and his bloodwork and urinalysis showed that his kidneys were failing.

The dog has never eaten or gotten a hold of anything poisonous and there is no history of any kidney or liver problems in his lines. Luckily since he was sick he did not have an appetite to eat any more dog food. Through lots of IV fluids and medicines he slowly started to recover and was able to eat some home cooked meals. We won't know the extent of the damage to his kidneys for about a month. This was the only food this dog was eating and it only took 2 days to do the damage.

Then I thought he was eating the chicken feed - so I made sure the food was only used in areas he couldn't access. After about a week, his hair started falling out in patches. Was he so compromised that he got mange? No fleas, but I treat with dips and baths without much improvement. Eight days ago, I changed his food. He's doing much better. We have been feeding our almost 2 year old golden shepherd mix TOTW dog food since she was a puppy and it has always been great. Our dog likes the taste and it has great ingredients for a fair price. However, we recently purchased our usual bag and she is having a terrible reaction to it. She woke us up in the middle of the night vomiting and soon after started having diarrhea. We thought maybe she had just gotten into something as we often take her out hiking. But the diarrhea continued over the next 36 hours so we decided to switch her to chicken and rice. Everything seemed to return to normal with and relatively solid poops and a great appetite.

Yesterday, we tried to introduce some TOTW back into the food and within a short amount of time, she began having diarrhea again. She's back on the chicken and rice again and will be going to the vet this weekend if things don't go back to normal. I will not be purchasing my dependable TOTW until I hear that they have done something about this issue. It seems to be a very common topic within the past month but when we called the customer service line today, they told us they didn't know of any problems. This seriously worries me. And I also buy this food for my cats. Truly disappointed that I have to find different food for all my pets.

Wow, when my sister suggested I research my dogs food for recalls, I never imagined so many pet parents with the SAME experience! My 8 year old Mastiff, Terrier mix has been eating TOTW roasted lamb dry food, twice a day, for about four years. He's been perfectly healthy, happy and normal. August 20th, I opened a new 30 pound bag and fed him as usual, 1 1/2 cups in the a.m. And again in p.m. August 21st I noticed him eating grass every chance he got, vomiting bile, and he began having frequent, loose/watery stools. He was going uncontrollably and appeared to be losing weight.

My veterinarian found nothing wrong to explain it. So I began to get suspicious of his diet. Thank goodness I did!!! He has been getting only a homemade mix of lean ground turkey, brown rice and sweet potatoes for a couple of days now, and he is better already. My sister had started recently, (at my suggestion!!) mixing the same food into her dogs canned food. She had also noticed changes in her dogs appetite and behavior. We have both packaged what is left of it and are going to return where we purchased from. I'm very saddened by the fact that pets have been sickened and even died. I will be contacting TOTW, and hoping this stuff is pulled immediately and pet parents notified. Hopefully the word will get out before anyone else goes through this.

My Pug has been on Taste of the Wild, bison (yellow bag) for her 71/2 years. Have never had any health problems. She was a perfectly healthy dog. When I was running low last week, the local pet food store had none of the bison so I got their Wild Boar and mixed it with the left over bison TOTW and her usual low salt turkey. That night she vomited and seemed lethargic. I put her on boiled rice and she ate more and more reluctantly. One day later I took her to the vet and he diagnosed her with pancreatitis. Her white blood count was very high and keeps on escalating, she drools and regurgitates frothy liquid. She has had a sonogram, exploratory surgery, been in intensive care and the prognosis after 5 days at the vets is guarded. She weighs only 15 pounds and is horribly ill. Her condition is critical. My bill is $4,000 so far and will be more. She may not live.

I have read about the many sick and dying dogs on this website and want to warn others to not use this food. I will join a class action suit if there is one. I am truly heartbroken, I threw out the new bag and did not save the lot number. But it was a brand new bag which had just come from the distributor. The earlier bag was from mid-May. And she was fine. Therefore, the damage came from the new, just purchased bag of dry TOTW. At all costs, avoid this food!

I will start by explaining that I was looking up the nutritional content of TOTW food due my dogs current kidney disease. I was thinking of trying to get him to start eating it again. During my search I came across this website and once I read the reviews it became obvious that I had to include a review. Our dogs have eaten TOTW (Salmon kibble) for a number of years with no issues. They get no human food, limited treats and overall are very healthy. Prior to reading these reviews we had not considered the dog food as the source of our dogs issue. He is a 14.5 year old mixed breed and weighed 60lbs prior to health issues. He has never had any health issues and I can guarantee he did not get into anything that would have caused his health issues.

In June he started experiencing a variety of issues that the vets were not sure of the cause. He was lethargic, very weak, lack of appetite and showed signs of an oral infection along with swelling in his front legs. During this time we tried feeding him a variety of food and he wouldn't eat much of anything except treats and some chicken and rice. He went through multiple rounds of antibiotics and then developed bloody stool which we assumed may be due to ** use for his arthritis. This required a week in the hospital and 2 blood transfusions. During this evaluation he was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney failure and pancreatitis.

The hospital explained they had done all they could to help and it was only a matter of time until he would pass away. We brought him home to spend time with him until he passed away. While at the hospital he wouldn't eat anything. We stayed home with him for 5 days and tried our best to get him to eat and drink. He ate very little until we tried dehydrated liver treats which he quickly ate. We tried dehydrated raw dog food which he loved and wouldn't stop eating. It has been 3 weeks since leaving the hospital and his appetite has returned (depends on the food), his strength has returned, his kidney disease is improving and he is acting more and more like his normal 14.5 year old self. It appears that he is well on his way to recovery.

I can't absolutely blame the food but considering everything he experienced, the timing and the volume of similar reviews during the same time frame it is logical that there may have been a connection to the food. To be on the safe side I will never purchase this brand of food again. Of note I wish I could list the batch number but discarded the bag a long time ago. I would hate for any other pet to have to go through what he has been through. If the manufacturer was a caring/responsible company they should acknowledge all of this complaints and conduct an investigation.

I have 2 dogs... the large breed dog seems unaffected by symptoms other than eating grass a great deal and he sleeps most of the day. However, my 4 yr old lab mix is another story. I began noticing a problem when my boy turned away from his food (TOTW Pacific Stream), began eating grass, and became lethargic. Three days ago he vomited... I thought it was something he ate from my son's plate but it didn't stop... everything got worse, his tail between his legs and a full day of no eating and vomiting... then he ate a little the next day but then turned away from food and took a turn downhill. Took him to the vet, so many issues. Licking his paws to the point of sores, vomiting, not eating or drinking, and on the way home from the vet horrific smelling bloody bowel movements, yes, in the truck.

My poor boy is cowering so bad, he comes from an abusive place, but it so hurts my heart that he is so scared. I can't say it is the food but I can say that he is on 3 medications trying to get him feeling better. Looking at reviews again, I thought previously that they were all from July but see it is all still a problem. Going to buy new food tomorrow, returning the one unopened bag. We took her home, and then she got very sick. On her second trip to the vet more extensive blood work revealed severe kidney damage. The vet put her on a 48-hour treatment plan to help her, but it would probably only give her 4 or 5 more months. Instead it got worse and the next morning we helped her cross the rainbow bridge.

We and the vet were baffled. He could only conclude that she had ingested something toxic. We had no idea what it could have been. (Indoor dog, fenced yard, and basically with us 24/7). I started searching this morning if there was a recall, only to (gratefully!) see all these comment posted on Consume Affairs. I have contacted Taste of the Wild via email this morning (it's Sunday). I will call them again tomorrow. I also contacted Pet Supplies Plus (Glen Ellyn, IL) where I purchased the product. I spoke to the store manager. He said he had been seeing this/reading online complaints but that he can't pull the product off the shelves until they officially recall the product or Taste of the Wild/Diamond will "Sue the crap out of them." I am seeking refund of my 2 bags purchased and reimbursement of my vet bill. This is gross negligence, folks. If they do not comply, I will start a class action... Unless one has already been started. I read the other comments and wept. Dogs dying, liver damage... This is totally unacceptable!! I will keep you all informed as to the company's response. I am disgusted.

My dog has been eating TOTW for the past 3 years. We have never had a problem, and I have recommended TOTW to everyone I know. For the past 2 weeks she has been not wanting to eat at all. Which is strange, because she usually has a ravenous appetite. Her gums have been pale to a light pink. She has been dry heaving frequently, and hacking occasionally. She has had loose stool, and occasionally bile vomit, along with some regurgitation. The last 3 days she has had vomit and horrible watery diarrhea in her cage. She has been extremely lethargic, and depressed. Needless to say after feeding this food for 3 years. I will be moving in to find another food, and also spreading the word about this food.

Repeat story. Excellent for 3 years, then 3 months ago my 50lb pit began drooling, severe diarrhea, vomiting, eating grass for 45 minutes at a time. Chewy refunded me and I continued on. Then I got a Facebook posting about this problem just as my dog began showing the same problems as before. The next day Taste of the Wild made a statement in Facebook saying all is good. There are just way too many people experiencing the same problems. One after another after another is not normal. I read the reviews here looking for a timeline when people started complaining. It clearly begins in October, 2016 and slowly builds up to a volcano of problems in the spring.

I called my nephew in Arizona who is a vet. He said he has not noticed a rise in clients with TOTW problems, saying the Blue Buffalo brand is the one to definitely stay away from. He also said in reality, all the brands have issues at one time or another simply because it's dog food, but some are minor and some are major. But he does not recommend TOTW to clients because the owners, Diamond, has a history of recalls.

I decided I did not want to play Russian roulette with bags of dog food, especially because I have been paying top dollar. I've switched to another brand and my dog is doing fine. My son and best friend have jumped ship too. Thanks to those who have posted, I made my decision and felt I needed to take the time and share with others so they could make an informed decision. Best source of info is to call your vet and get their opinion.

I have had the same experience with Taste of the Wild (Sierra Mountain Canine® Formula with Roasted Lamb). Won't eat, tired all the time and their stools have gotten loose and dark. I purchased a bag from Chewy.com on June 6th, the dogs wouldn't eat. They would just lay next to their bowl. I used the bag for about 2 weeks and was tired of begging them to eat. I just figured that it was old or something so I went the the local PetLand and bought another 30lb bag and they did the same thing. I tried the new bag for 2 weeks and it hasn't got any better.

I have Boston Terriers and you never have to beg them to eat but this has been a real ordeal. Today I decided to search online and found that it is apparently a problem. I immediately went and bought another brand and they ate it fine. I went online and did a chat session with chewy.com and they immediately gave me refund. I have to take the old food to PetLand and they will refund me also. I am glad for this site. I probably should have listened to my pets when they wouldn't eat the first time.

Our dog has been on Taste of the Wild for almost a year now, and has been fine. However, within the past few weeks/months she has been getting sicker and sicker. We took her to her Vet and her liver enzymes had skyrocketed (8x what it should have been). She almost died due to liver failure, after 2 rounds/months of liver meds, her levels had returned to somewhat of a normal level (2x what it should be). After reading these reviews we have taken her off of TOTW. Now, she is more like a 2.5 year old dog should be. We are currently awaiting her latest blood test. I'm sure they have improved based off of her energy levels, less diarrhea, more energy, etc. This company needs to at the very least make pet owners aware that there is an issue. We will never ever give Hazel this food again. Please if you are reading this and your pet is currently on this food GET THEM OFF!

We bought a bag in late July. Our male BT has been dealing with runny stools, started with explosive diarrhea, took him off all food went to white rice, chicken and a little sweet potato. Over the course of 4 days he started getting better, firming up nicely, yesterday afternoon started giving him his dried food back and here I am posting at 3 am.

Dog food pulled up. Heading to PSP today to return. Like others I understand things happen, but take care of your customers as they support your company. Now you've lost business and bad news travels faster than good news, so watch your precious pets, monitor their habits. And if you need prescription medication don't forget, most outside retailers fill dog perceptions and they are about 1/3 of the price of the vet’s office.

We have 4 dogs. Cheeta, Ruby, Gretel and Penny. Fortunately, we were slowly changing the food for our chihuahua, Cheeta, from Taste of the Wild to EVO but she did vomit all her food. Our larger 40 lb. sighthound mix, Ruby, (larger appetite) was eating all Taste of the Wild Southwest Canyon and 4 days after opening our late July Chewy order Ruby suddenly got very lethargic, appeared dehydrated (light/pale) gums, loose stool changing to diarrhea and vomiting (her last meal) and continuing to vomit now clear liquid. Doesn't appear she is holding down the water she is trying to drink.

We hadn't thought much about our German shepherd/Chow mix, Gretel, vomiting clear fluid yesterday but as we were cleaning up after our Ruby today, Gretel started vomiting again clear fluid. That's 3 dogs now not doing well with Ruby the worst being our biggest eater. We have another smaller sighthound mix, Penny, but she eats like a bird which is probably a blessing. Too late tonight for a vet but have a morning appointment tomorrow. Although my dogs are worth their weight in gold this will be, I fear, lotsa $$$$.

We have called Taste of the Wild corporate and while they were very understanding, reassuring and aware of the recent complaints they said they were "looking into it." If you have any Taste of the Wild since June I would discard it. Needless to say I will not be purchasing more. We have already changed our Chewy order and Chewy was nice enough to credit us for the last bag of Taste of the Wild. Please, watch your dogs and look for signs if this is what you feed your dogs.

I thought nothing of it. She's a puppy. About four days in she threw up her morning food. Again I said she must have ate something in the grass outside. The next episode came on Aug. 10th when she threw up her morning and lunch food. She then walked into her crate and curled up in a ball. We knew something was wrong then so we took her to our local vet. She did xrays and thought we should bring her to Tufts University in Grafton, MA.

We rushed her there. Had numerous tests done only to have her die two days later. I want people to know the production code # May 2018 #7146330 (THP0505D1M LTW0519). We contacted the company we bought it from but they said all dog food will have contamination from time to time. We can't bring Bella back but we are going to pursue it as far as we can. It will be hard for us to pay this $5000.00 vet bill.

I started making her dog food, took her off Taste of the Wild. She has improved so much since taking her off the food. She's eating fine now, gaining weight and muscle back. I am a pet parent to 6 dogs. Five of them were on Taste of the Wild:Wetlands Formula with Roasted Fowl. They were on it for over a year. For the past month, I noticed they were becoming more lethargic. They started losing weight. My 15 pound dog dropped to 12 pounds in less than a month. They were losing hair. The picture of my dog shows where he lost some hair. He got the brunt of it. I know it's not winter coat because they lost that in May and June. They started chewing and licking frequently. Then I came across this website and read the reviews. I thought I could hold off for a week to change the food, but then they started getting diarrhea. So I immediately fed them a bag of Nutro Max that I had in case of emergency. Now, I have them on Canidae Elements. They love it and seem to be doing better.

I know it's the food and not environment. My 4 month old puppy is on Wholehearted brand dry puppy food and Merrick canned food. He has a beautiful coat, doesn't chew, and is FULL of energy (more than my other dogs at his age). I can't believe TOTW has denied these allegations and claimed the complaints as false. I have filed a report with the FDA. Y'all might want to as well. You file 1 report per dog. I'm working on the other reports now. I don't know if it will help, but maybe enough will cause an inspection. Here's where you report: https://www.safetyreporting.hhs.gov

I just had the same experience as everyone else here with their July bag of Taste of Wild food that was ordered from Chewy on July 9th. They have been on this food for quite awhile with absolutely no issues and I always have an extra bag of food, so this month, we started on that July bag... Which I have all the product/manufacturing date code information if anyone needs it. Very first feeding from the new bag made all 4 dogs of different breeds and sizes (I rescue dogs) sick... Have very loud stomach churning noises, lots of diarrhea, and very ill. Extremely worried, I wondered what it was that made them so sick, there was absolutely no changes in their life at all, so I pulled up all food bowls.

Later that night, I put back down one food bowl and no one would go near it. They didn't eat at all even though I knew they were hungry. They didn't eat for a day. I then pulled up that food bowl and went out and bought another brand of dog food from PetSmart (FYI. Wellness Core) and filled up 3 clean food bowls with it and they immediately devoured 2 bowls... And I am not even kidding when I say they immediately went to those bowls and ate. Now I don't know what is going on with Taste of Wild dog food because, as I said, I never once before had any issues of any sorts with this food, and my dogs have been on it for quite awhile and did great on it and they loved it... Until the first feeding out of this July bag.

After researching, it seems this is happening to a lot of people. I called Chewy and they refunded my money and told me to throw it out. So then, I went to their site and read that they said they tested their July food and all is well. Well I know, and my 4 dogs know first hand, unfortunately, that is complete **. Truthfully, now that makes me worry even more than if a company had a bad batch and took responsibility and had a recall.

I understand things do happen that companies can't control and maybe something went wrong making or storing or I don't know with the food. However, when a lot of people all over the country are reporting VERY sick animals and the company doesn't tell the pet owners the truth of what is wrong with that July bag of food my dogs got sick off of, so we can be informed and know what we are dealing with and how to help our animals, that to me is even worse because they are obviously covering up something and that makes me worry and wonder what possibly worse things that went wrong with or what else was put into with their food. For that reason alone, I will not be returning to using Taste of the Wild ever again and am telling all pet owners to alert them to this issue.

I am not trying to promote another brand so I will not mention the other high quality dry product I had been using. The clerk at Pet Supplies Plus represented this to me as having no recalls. That is a lie as I found now that they have had many along with their affiliate. The store instantly refunded me when I took it back today. My cat started to throw up right away but I assumed it was the switch in brands or a hair ball. That subsided for the most part but I started to notice his coat changed and can hear his stomach churning never heard before. He went from his gorgeous shiny charcoal grey like a Russian Blue to a matted looking off color brown hue in places in these weeks.

Now he started to throw up more again. I was told by a clerk there that that is generally due to a vitamin deficiency with the change in coat. I also have noticed that he is sleeping more than usual. I feel that this brand should be researched with the amount of complaints not just here but all over social media! I do have the receipt for the return but am not going to upload that at the moment and will if required and any action is actually taken!!!

Taste of the Wild dry dog food: I have been feeding my dog this food for years then bought new bag and he was not interested in eating it... He is very food driven so I was surprised but thought he was just having a moment, so he reluctantly ate it but over next few days started with diarrhea then lethargy. I was not thinking that it was food related so continued to feed him. Then woke up one morning and he was almost unable to walk! Took him to emergency vet and he was admitted and given IV fluids and antibiotics and pain meds. They said he had pancreatitis and elevated liver enzymes and was very sick and dehydrated! He stayed for 3 days and bill was 2300$. When I brought him home I only gave him chicken eggs and pasta and he amazingly recovered except for slightly soft stool... I can only attribute his illness to Taste of the Wild but I guess I will never know for sure. But one thing I do know for sure is I will never feed him that food again!!!

I have used Taste of the Wild for the last 4 and a half years. It used to work great for my Olde English Bulldog that was very allergy prone. However, the last bag I purchased was in July and it was the Pacific Stream. I have always switched up their proteins to keep their bodies from becoming immune to the protein. They have been on the Southwest Boar, roasted fowl, Pacific Stream, high prairie, and lamb. Never had an issue in the past until this last bag that I opened a week ago.

One of my English Bulldogs came in from having a poop and was dripping blood from his butt. My Olde English has been battling hives with a skin reaction. My third English bulldog is having diarrhea. Spending a decent amount on dog food I expect a quality that reflects the same standard. Not something that puts their lives in danger. Took them to the vet today and the vet tested their stool and it was found to have bacteria. Please beware when purchasing this food! I heard about the issues but thought how they've always been fine in the past and it wouldn't happen to "my dogs". I would post the batch number but I cannot due to putting their dog food in a plastic bin once I open the bag. The bag was made in Missouri - that I do remember. I purchased it in NW Arkansas at Orschelns and it was the Pacific Stream bag.

We have used TOTW for over 6 years. We have two Great Danes and they have always done fantastic on this food. We get the red bag (boar) and the yellow bag (Venison) and interchange them. We go through just over one large bag once a week. About two months ago, our girls BOTH began refusing to eat. However, if they became hungry enough they would go nibble on the food. I washed their bowls out really well and made sure there was nothing around the dishes that might be making the food seem unpleasant - we found nothing. More and more the girls have become lethargic. They don't act like themselves at all and it has become a daily issue with them refusing to eat.

We didn't think it was the food initially, because they turned their noses up to both bags. They didn't have any parasites and were healthy otherwise, so I thought maybe they were just getting older and weren't hungry as much or wanted to free feed (which is odd for a Dane). We just opened up another bag and both girls very begrudgingly nibbled at their food. My heart broke. Something is wrong with this food!!! I stopped them and got into my fridge to pull out what I could to feed them until I can get to the store tomorrow for a different food.

I got online and typed in 'Taste of the Wild dog won't eat' and I about cried my eyes out. Taste of the Wild!!! There is OBVIOUSLY something wrong with your food!!! What are you doing to our pets!!! What did you do??!! The only reason I can think of that my girls didn't get as sick as some of the dogs in these reviews is that they are Danes. I am so angry. If you are considering getting this food for your animal - DON'T. Any positive review from before about June of 2017 should be considered outdated! Something changed. They changed their formula or something and it is glaringly apparent that all of our pups are getting VERY ill because of it.

TOTW was a phenomenal food prior to this, don't get me wrong. But until TOTW acknowledges this and fixes it, I would advise not even taking the chance. Especially if you have a smaller dog. For the person who mentioned batch numbers, there is no point. I think it is apparent by these reviews and those that are SO easily found by a simple Google search that this is a very wide spread issue. This isn't a situation where a couple batches became contaminated. This has to be a formula change or something product wide.

I had previously given TotW a 5 star review. Unfortunately, it would seem that the new bag of Wetlands formula has something wrong with it. We had been feeding from it for about a week, when I noticed our 11 month old GSD's stool was unusually loose. We had just brought home an 8 week old female GSD, so I attributed the loose stools to the stress of having to share everything and learn how to play with this ornery fluffball with needle-teeth, without being too rough and getting into trouble with mom & dad. However, having been alerted to possible developing problems with TotW, I kept a close eye on him and her (she steals bites of his food of course), they didn't show any sign of not feeling well and the stools didn't seem to be getting any worse. That changed yesterday (8/5/17).

When I got up, our 11 month-old had full blown diarrhea, had not been able to hold it to get outside (poor guy was not only having to deal with being ill, but he was also upset that he had made a "mess" in the house, needless to say there was no scolding), and the puppy's stool was pudding-like, but not liquid. I immediately secured all of the food from the bag and began feeding rice and cooked meat, with cooked eggs and a touch of salt (the latter two are to help with dehydration and restoring electrolytes, K and Na respectively). The puppy didn't show any behavioral signs of not feeling well, but the male came and laid beside me for an unusually long period of time for him. He clearly was not feeling well.

By evening, the female's stools were normal and the male, who had eaten significantly more, was still very loose, but no longer completely liquid and was acting more like himself. We're still feeding rice & meat today, but have already changed what we're going to be feeding and the feed supply we buy from has taken back the remainder of the TotW and given us credit for the bag. The person we dealt with at the feed store told us that there had been a couple of other patrons who had a similar experience.

Our babies are doing much better today and I owe it in part to the reviews on here for their part in alerting me to the potential problem. I'm so glad we were able to catch this before our babies were in serious trouble. My heart goes out to those who weren't so lucky. I don't know what happened and I hope the makers of TotW take appropriate action, though from their past track record and current apparent inaction after what seems to be several months of evidence that they have a sizeable problem, I hold little hope. I will be watching this as it progresses, but doubt we will ever go back to TotW or any of Diamond's other holdings. You only get one chance with me to get it right when it comes to my family.

A few months ago, we almost lost my female pit-mix to a mystery illness that caused her to lose 17 pounds, vomit constantly and resulted in her not being able to walk due to swelling in her back and hips.

Three vets were stumped despite every blood test available. Through the use of steroids and multiple antibiotics, she slowly recovered over a full months time. Her symptoms suggested Lyme disease or kidney failure. The entire time, she was eating TOTW and never lost her appetite. NOW, a few days ago my adult male pit bull began to have uncontrollable hives, swelling, and lethargy. This morning I woke up to huge puddles of vomit on the floor and couch from him. More vomit than I've ever seen from one dog. My female dog (previously sick) walked in and immediately vomited also. The third dog, a male pit-boxer, has severe diarrhea.

All three dogs being sick has to be due to the dog food they all eat. These are pampered pooches!! I threw away the TOTW and will never go back or trust it again. My 11 week old Corgi puppy has been eating Taste of the Wild puppy formula since the beginning of his weaning over a month ago. I just opened a new bag of Taste of the Wild High Prairie Puppy Roasted Venison and Bison yesterday morning, Monday August 1st. He ate that morning and hasn't eaten since! I became concerned yesterday evening when he began vomiting, refusing to drink, refusing to eat, had a hard bloated belly, was getting lethargic and then diarrhea set in about 10 hours later. I couldn't sleep that night, thinking he must have gotten a hold of something, but racking my brain on how we could have missed it seeing he is always on a lead next to one of us (even in the house) during training! I came across a FB post about Taste of the Wild and the horrific experiences the last month or 2 that so many people have had with their pets! EVERYTHING matched up, the symptoms were the same!

I tried to contact Taste of the Wild myself this morning (Tuesday August 2nd) and after almost 18 minutes on hold, the call abruptly 'hung up' without my ever getting a chance to even speak to someone. I then called the online company I purchased the food from (Chewy) and was told that very morning, they received an email from upper management acknowledging that there had been a very large number of complaints on Taste of the Wild and that they were 'in touch' with the brand directly, who planned on making a statement to the public later today. VERY UPSETTING. Peoples pets are sick and dying and Taste of the Wild, owned by Diamond is stated online earlier today that these complaints are a hoax? WHAT? That's just ludicrous.

I rushed my puppy ** to our vet to be checked and we were one of the lucky ones; a shot for nausea, dehydration and some canned specialty food for the next few days and as long as nothing gets worse, he should be just fine (a good carpet shampooing and a good night sleep and I should be too). I will be finding a way to destroy the entire HUGE bag of Taste of the Wild that I opened yesterday morning when this nightmare began, so that no other animal can get a hold of it! The BEST BY DATE on the bag reads as 02 JUN 2018 and the lot number, THP0602D218 DAW22:39. Prayers for anyone out there going through something like this. No animal in our family will consume Taste of the Wild pet foods ever again!

We have been feeding our now 13 month old St Berdoodle Taste of the Wild High Prairie puppy food since December. He did ok until a few weeks ago and started vomiting. His stomach was making such loud noises the other night it woke us up. We saw the reviews on this website thank goodness and stopped feeding him the Taste of the Wild. I'm not sure if it was a bad batch of food or what but we aren't taking any chances and have switched him to a different brand.

My two Frenchies had an unexplainable incident. They both were vomiting, had severe diarrhea, and pass blood from their rectum. Not one, but two dogs. Both on TOTW. I've been worried about them and late this evening I received a message from someone on a blog I'm a member of indicated mass numbers of consumers reporting similar issues with their pets and the common denominator is Taste of the Wild brand dog foods. I'm going to have my dogs checked out and bring this to my vet's attention and provide them with the dog food for testing. This is insane!

I have been feeding my pit mix senior dog TOW for two years now and now my dog has been sick for a month! The week of July 1 he started puking with diarrhea. He also stopped eating with other symptoms like lethargic, drooling, drinking tons of water and mucus in his stool on top of the diarrhea. I thought this was his old age so I planned on putting him down this week because of other problems he's having but this sickness came out of nowhere! This was just brought to my attention today, about all these complaints with the same symptoms! I'm switching his food first thing tomorrow in hopes he gets better! I hope TOW company does something about this soon before tons of people spend thousands in vet care!!

I am concerned by all the reports of illness from TOTW. PLEASE when writing a review mention the pet store, the location of the pet store, or website you are buying the food from. Diamond manufactures TOTW, as well as Kirkland, Nature's Domain grain-free, Diamond Naturals, 4Health, Natural Balance dry, Premium Edge, Professional, Solid Gold, and Chicken Soup for the Soul (according to a 2012 list from truthaboutpetfood.com). Diamond has multiple plants in different states including Meta, Missouri, Gaston, South Carolina; Lathrop, California; Ripon, California; and Dumas, Arkansas. I have been feeding these brands for nearly 20 years, in Oregon.

Aside from storage problems in the summer by pet stores and transporters causing the dog food to spoil and ferment I've had zero health problems with these brands in all these years! I personally have not seen any symptoms of the recently reported issues with my 9 dogs (knock on wood), so please report where you are buying these toxic bags of dog food from to help narrow down the plant or transporter(s) or storage facilities that may be involved. Diamond is usually good about staying on top of potential problems and usually recalls before illnesses are even reported so I am surprised they haven't issued a recall or widespread response to these complaints.

I have been feeding my two adult dogs TOTW for over a year now with no issues. However, I have a litter of 10 6.5 week old Goldendoodle puppies and this is my experience: We recently had a HUGE scare with the puppies and I have come to believe this is why. We could have lost them if I let this go on longer. I've been in contact with TOTW and they are denying any issues with their bags of food, which completely baffles me. Why let this go on and affect more innocent animals? Clearly there is an issue. I will be sending this dog food out to be tested for all possible bacterias.

On Saturday, July 29th I noticed that 4 of the puppies were acting a bit lethargic and threw up bile. I assumed maybe it was from drinking or eating too fast since I had just fed them. By Sunday, the 30th symptoms along with loose stools had passed to 4 other puppies. I immediately consulted our vet and followed his advice of keeping them hydrated, I syringe fed Pedialyte and water and lessened their food intake. That evening nobody was really improving and dehydration was a concern. We went to the emergency vet Sunday night where the puppies received antibiotics, fluids, and anti-nausea meds. The Vet ran the following tests: white blood cell count (elevated), coccidia (negative), roundworms (negative), hookworms (negative), heartworms (negative), parvo virus (negative), distemper (negative). He ran more, but those are just off the top of my head.

When I got home I immediately switched their food because that could have been a cause. Upon switching nobody threw up their food and by the next morning they were on the mend. This all leads me to believe that their new bag (I opened Thursday) could have been the culprit. I am absolutely sick about this and recommend that anyone who feeds Taste of the Wild to throw their bag out and get a new one from a new batch or avoid TOTW all together. All the pups are on antibiotics, a different food and are doing 100% better! We are waiting to hear back from the vet about possible salmonella and other bacterias. We expect the results in two days.

I am so shocked about the bad reviews. First, we have a 13-year-old Boxer dog whom we have been feeding Taste of the Wild for over 6 years. He's totally in shape and we NEVER have any health issues with him. The vet says he's a freak of nature because he's so healthy and Boxers don't tend to live that long, much less be super healthy at that age.

Secondly, our youngest Boxer was a runt. When we got her she was 7 lbs at 8 weeks. She had a laundry list of issues (ear infections, mange, etc) the first few months. She's 3 years old now and has been on Taste of the Wild since she was 6 months. The vet is always super happy with her weight and mentions how healthy she is.

Lastly, we have a 5-year old cat and she's been on Taste of the Wild. She's also super healthy, active and has a nice coat. No violent vomiting and no violent diarrhea ever from any of the pets. So I don't know what all the negative reviews are about but our entire pet kids are in tip-top shape, are super active and have nice coats.

TOTW Salmon & Potato - My pitbull ate this food for years and had zero issues. We had tried different brands and formulations to figure out he was allergic or reactive to chicken and beef/bison/deer based diets. We changed to Salmon and he had great stools, no more redness of the paws or incessant itching! We then got our Cane Corso and were feeding her the same diet after much trial and error. She came to us with bloody diarrhea that had nothing to do with the food she was on because we later discovered she had a really bad bacterial infection in her intestines. We originally thought it was from Beneful which is just like junk food for dogs.

Once we cleared infection and she was on the Salmon diet she did great (we also tried the white fish by Diamond Naturals which is the same parent company). We did discover that she was itchier than a normal dog with red paws. I work for a veterinary dermatologist and she suggested we trial treat with Apoquel for environmental allergy. She was about 80% improved on this but still very red and itchy. We then did a food trial of Royal Canin PR and she did amazing after the first 6-8 weeks. Unfortunately she is mildly allergic to the fish in the diet and suspect there may have been a mild chicken or beef cross contamination which is fine if you don't have a food allergic dog. I still recommend this company for others looking for a maintenance diet.

I would like to know what the food shows if tested. I do not keep the bags because I keep her food in a sealed container. We started our bulldog puppy on TOTW when we got her in February 2017 and the food worked for her. That is until we bought a new bag in June, something has changed or the batch is contaminated. Not longer after we opened the new bag and began feeding it to her, she became violently ill, throwing up non stop (not normal throw up). We took her to the vet, he did X-rays/ scans, all kinds of tests and could not determine what was wrong with her. She had lost 25% of her body weight, thrown up for 2 weeks, ruined carpet and furniture. I Googled TOTW and came across this site. I immediately switched her food. She seems back to normal after three weeks. I have called TOTW only to be told they had not heard any similar feedback, I told them to Google it for themselves. Never again will I use their products.

The 1st week of the month I had purchased a fresh bag of TOW Roasted Fowl. We have been on this for almost 2 years now without any issues. On July 6th Max got sick with diarrhea. He was still eating and drinking but still tummy troubles. Two days later on July 8th I saw blood and called the vet. I brought him in and the vet said he didn't feel any blockages, he was acting normal, eating and drinking no problem. He checked him and there were no parasites. I was sent home with prescription food, Pro Pectin (doggie tums) and paid a $200 vet bill. After 72 hours (July 13) on the prescription food he was feeling better.

He was completely fine for a whole week and I decided to put him back on his Taste of the Wild. 3 days later he was sick again (July 25), this time he was vomiting. I went back on the prescription food and ordered a container of Pro-Pectin to get his stomach back to normal. Yesterday I gave him plain yogurt. He has stopped vomiting, but still has diarrhea. I have begun boiling ground beef and steaming white rice. YESTERDAY July 31 was when I read about so many dogs getting sick this month on Taste of the Wild. I am DUMPING the 30LBS and choosing another brand. He has lost 4lbs over the last 4 weeks. I will never let him suffer like this again.

Something happened on last bag we bought. Have a 2 yr old Rottie who has been on Taste of the Wild grain free Salmon food for over a year and doing well. Started out with loud stomach noises in mornings and not wanting to eat. Acted hungry but would walk away from food. Licking legs, paws and seemed low energy. Then noticed skin bumps, stopped drinking even water. He became dehydrated and had to go for IV fluids. Came home and still would walk away from dog food but would eat the rice and boiled turkey we made him. Finally did a change to the Wetlands fowl and which he is eating BUT stools are never firm and very mushy soft. Skin issues are still present. Today will buy another brand because we believe TOTW has changed something in recipe that has made him sick.

I, my sister, and my son have fed TOTW to our Boxers for years. It USED to be QUALITY FOOD when the original owners produced it. DO NOT FEED YOUR ANIMALS TOTW IF YOU WANT THEM TO LIVE! For the last couple years my boxer has had health issues. In the past 9-10 months, I have prepared myself to lose my boxer, as he has been so sick. Two vets could not find out what was wrong w/ him. I DID! My boxer had horrible upset stomach, panting for no reason, he was not hot, he had not been playing, he would just wake up panting desperately. He would come to me in a PANIC, stressed out, and saliva would be dripping non stop. It was NOT drool, this was completely different. He would soak his chest & legs, my shirt and pants. He was in pain and scared. What was wrong with him? ACID REFLUX BECAUSE OF TOTW CRAP FOOD!

Once I researched and found all the symptoms and the fact that TOTW was what each of these people were feeding their dogs!!! I was LIVID. And still am! I believe in transitioning when I change a dog food, but in this case? NO! I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED feeding this crap! Within TWO DAYS, my boxer was NOT dealing with acid reflux EVERY DAY & NIGHT! He began to play again, STOPPED eating grass, Is a HAPPY & HEALTHY BOXER! I will make sure that I spread the word on TOTW crap food poisoning our dogs! My sister has two boxers, I have two boxers, my son has a boxer, I have NUMEROUS friends online that WERE feeding TOTW, and all have STOPPED FEEDING TOTW, and are helping in sharing this information!

A little over a year ago when my boxer began getting sick, I contacted the company, and was told that they did have a bad batch. (I always keep ALL my codes when I feed a bag of food) So they sent me a new bag... Obviously just as crap as the other, and all their food since then. All I can say is Thank God I discovered all these dogs that were suffering the same symptoms as my boxer! TOTW??? Diamond??? You need to get it together. I am sorry for those that have had sick dogs that have had dogs that died from this horrible food...

We've fed this to our dog since we adopted her at 4 months old, she's just over 3 years old now. She'd go periods where she refused to eat and would end up vomiting bile. I took her to the vet and a thousand dollars later our poor baby had a bacterial infection. After giving her GI soothing wet food and probiotics/antibiotics recommended by the vet, we tried to put her back on the Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream. She went back to the old cycle of refusing to eat again. We gave the food to my brother to give to his dogs and soon after they started to get ill with large bouts of diarrhea. There were three and a half bags of dog food, so realistically $160 of dog food that we can't use for fear of our family pets' conditions worsening. I don't recall if we got our latest bags of dog food from Jet, Chewey, or Pet360 but I know we ordered it online.

We have been feeding Taste of the Wild to our dog for the past several years. Starting several months ago she (GSD) started to developed digestive issues. She would often eat grass in the morning. Her appetite waned but when she did eat she would often vomit afterwards. She developed chronic diarrhea. Thinking it was the protein source I foolishly ordered another bag, this time a fish protein. Things didn't change but got progressively worse. Back to the vets and placed on antibiotics of IBS. No improvement but at this time thinking maybe the antibiotics were upsetting her stomach.

2 weeks of the antibiotics and all the symptoms were accelerating. Back to the vets again, she had lost 4 lbs in 1 month. She was listless and last weekend we all thought it was the end of her. In my desperation I googled Taste of the Wild and came across this website. When I started reading the 6+ pages of similar complaints I was astonished. Yet it gave me a glimmer of hope that maybe it could be the dog food. Wishing it to be true but not thinking it really was the cause I threw the rest of the Taste of the Wild out and started home cooking for her.

One week later she is back to her old self. Her stools are perfect and her appetite is voracious. She has her zip back. I can only thank this website and the people who took the time to tell their story. For perks, to the company... I did call Chewy up and relay my experience and thoughts. While they said they had not received any complaints (I find that hard to believe) they offered to refund me not 1 but 2 bags of dog food! I can only hope that the word gets out that this is bad stuff. Also for the record, my neighbor across the street has since stated that his dog has stopped eating her Taste of the Wild kibble. His bag has since gone out in the garbage.

I've been reading these negative reviews and they're really heartbreaking. It sounds like there was/are definitely bad batches of this food and that's horrible. I guess I've just been lucky, but I feel the need to share my experience because it's a different one. My corgi has been on the High Prairie dry diet since he was a pup. He loves the stuff. He's never gotten sick or rashes or anything. I get comments on how healthy and vibrant he is and I've always chalked it up to he's getting a good brand of food. Much better than the competitors, anyway. He has a shiny coat, healthy BMs, no medical issues. I completely believe that there could be bad batches out there, and I'm sorry to any owner who has experienced this.

But coming from someone who hasn't had a bad experience: I think this is an amazing dog food for what it is. One of the best dry foods I have come across in my research. I'm giving it 4 stars because if these reviews are true and the sickness relates to the food, I'd feel terrible if I recommended it to a friend and their dogs became ill. If I based it off my own experience I'd give TOTW 5 stars every time. But I'm going to continue feeding him the stuff -- it's been amazing for him so far. 7+ years and a healthy dog.

We took him to the vet only to find out he was in stage 3 renal failure!!!! They started him on IV fluids to help flush out his kidneys. The Vet switched him to renal food and a week later they retested his blood and it showed he had high levels of ammonia and that his liver function was not doing well! So, another round of IV fluids! The most recent blood work shows the IV treatments have helped reverse kidney failure and liver failure but now high levels of calcium!

The vets asked if he ingested any toxins or if I could think of anything and I said no, just his food and treats... Then my second cat 2yr old Siamese started to throw up and not wanting any of his food... It dawned on me that it could be their food! I switched his food too and he's doing much better!! Later I looked up reviews on Amazon and Facebook only to see WE are not an isolated incident! What the heck, HAVE I BEEN SLOWLY KILLING MY CATS, by feeding them this product? Awful! I have a 13 y.o. mini Wirehaired Dachshund. I have three other dogs varying ages and breeds. I've been feeding Taste of the Wild for years and was currently feeding Appalachian small breed kibble. My dogs have never had an issue with TTW. She has been going down hill for the last 45 days. She's had pancreatitis for years, however I've been able to keep it under control. She's been losing weight, drinking mass quantities of water with large amounts of clear urine, lethargy, and losing hair. She had her dental done in March and her senior panel, etc., we're normal.

She has always had a looser stool with the pancreatitis. I too do not feed any table food to my dogs. I had taken to the vet 3 times and with recent blood work having been recent I thought she was just starting to fail. I have been making chicken and rice or sweet potato, but tried to reintroduce Taste of the Wild. My dogs never turned away from the TTW. Then I looked at my other dogs more closely and realized they had lost weight and had some loose stools off and on.

I now am kicking myself for not figuring this out sooner and researching this dog food problem! I changed the dog food six days ago and amazingly my little old girl is gaining weight, very alert and seems to have some life left in her. My other dogs are gaining weight back and stools are back to normal. I take her back to the vet tomorrow and I pray her kidneys, etc., aren't toast. I don't know how the people at Taste of the Wild can go on pretending there's no problem. I believe the company has recently been bought out but haven't been able to verify.

I have been a loyal TOTW customer for 4-5 years. Being a Dane owner with many allergies to contend with, TOTW was a great bang for my buck: it offered grain free and chicken free (allergies) options with appropriate calcium to phosphorus levels for giant breeds, and my dogs loved it. I previously fed the salmon but this review is specific to the red bag (beef/bison). The past 3 weeks my 18 month old Dane has been increasingly lethargic, disinterested in food, and losing weight. I finally said enough is enough and bought a small bag of a different kibble to mix in to entice her to eat. After seeing her demolish her mixed food, I did some research and saw all of the other similar reviews. I'm one of the fortunate ones; we had no bloody vomit, diarrhea, etc, but we had a dog that was not herself and unhappy. Even the opening of a new bag (usually her favorite) was not enough to get more than a couple kibble of consumption.

After reading similar stories we promptly threw away all leftover TOTW and did a clean switch to the new food. Not only did she have no stomach upset, but she has consumed DOUBLE what she was eating prior-and with enthusiasm. Within 5 days ribs have gone away, she's drinking more water, complete 180 in energy/attitude.

TOTW used to be a great food, but whatever issue they're currently having needs to be resolved and they need to publically address this issue. I'm happy to pay the higher price for the food I'm feeding now because the results were almost immediate and my fur baby is my baby. If anyone's pup is being harmed by their lack of culpability and transparency, however, that needs to be stopped.

About a month ago my first puppy got violently ill, had mucous in her stool, throw up violently and was super lethargic. My second puppy about a week after that started the same thing. We took them to the vet and did blood tests and their liver counts were through the roof.

The only thing we did (and believe me we have went through everything) was buy a new bag of dog food, same style, the bison. My dogs continued to puke and have diarrhea and lethargy until I found the reviews on here concerning TOTW. I love this company and in no way am I bashing it but it's clear it is the food. I am going to another brand, sadly, because I love them and the quality they stood for. I hope they will do a recall, fix the food so our dogs are not having this happen anymore.

I am very disappointed to read all the bad reviews of the this brand, I wished I would have done my research before purchasing this food for my five year old pug. I had heard nothing but great things about this dog food and want nothing but the best for my little girl since she's a part of my family. That's when things took a turn for the worst, not even twenty four hours of her eating this food, she was vomiting profusely and very lethargic. I rushed her to the vet immediately on the way there her tongue was hanging out of her mouth, it was pale in color and her breathing was very labored, pleading for her to stay with me, upon arriving to the vet they immediately took her back and pumped her full of fluids and got her stabilized. Her blood pressure and pulse were extremely low. The vet ran a blood panned and her liver enzymes(ALT) were through the roof.

So the vet asked me numerous questions about what she could have gotten into because her liver was processing something TOXIC. I explained there was nothing out and my dog was not the kind to get into anything and she advised me to throw the new food out immediately. 1,000 dollars later my dog is okay, however I was fortunate enough to get her to the vet in time, it could have been a lot worse. Upon calling customer service, they were very unsympathetic and defensive. My only concern is the well being of other fur babies, and which I explained to the representative, who had no concern for the bad reviews I had seen. They haven't missed a meal since back on it. Not sure if there was a change or whatever but as long as they eat it, I will buy it.

    Original Review: July 17, 2017

I can't really talk bad about this company because I've fed TOTW for the last 5yrs. Not sure what happened but bought a bag two weeks ago and both my girls stopped eating. They would pick at it and beg for anything you were eating but wouldn't touch their food. My youngest started having some bloody mucus in her poo which made me start looking into the food and ended up here and seeing all these complaints. I wish Diamond would look into what is going on but I will no longer be feeding anything made by them. I started 7yrs ago with their Diamond brand, then went to 4Health after the recalls, then went to TOTW. I will be switching companies now.:(

I have been feeding my 5 dogs Taste of the Wild High Prairie for quite some time, at least 2 years or more. But something seems to be wrong with this recent batch. I ordered it from Chewy.com and received it 30 June. Now 2 weeks later 3 of the 5 dogs I have, are experiencing intestinal upset. Mostly Diarrhea, but one has also thrown up several times. I am waiting to hear back from Taste of the Wild, but I got online with a Chewy rep also to warn them of the problem and the wonderful rep Luna **. refunded my money and told me to toss the rest of that bag away.

I plan to hold on to some of it in case TOTW, wants a sample to test, but from other people's responses here I am guessing they don't care. I am switching foods! And because of how drastically sick my 4 year old was, I switched immediately on Friday night. Ignoring the normal adjustment period for a new food. I was warned by a vet about the dangers of intestinal upset doing that, but it is better than poisoning my fur babies further with the Taste of the Wild! I will probably switch permanently to one of the other top rated brands, Taste of the Wild needs to lose their Number 4 rating!

I am so glad I checked the reviews. Something is wrong and needs to be addressed. Have used Taste of the Wild for 1 year for my two small breed dogs. After my last purchase 14 Lb bag / end of May order, I noticed the dogs lost interest in their food and only ate when hungry. For the last three weeks my dogs have been suffering with diarrhea, anal gland blockages and hard stools. Just back from the vet for the second time in two weeks and she had me research the food. Clearly there is something wrong with the latest batch. I have auto ship purchase on Amazon and just canceled, will also post a review for others. Seems suspicious we are all experiencing the same symptoms.

Since I bought this 3wks ago, BISON flavor on sale at PET CLUB, my pup has had all the symptoms consistent with the complaints: 1) Loud noises in her stomach, more than the normal ones - during and after eating. 2) Nausea (convulses like she's going to throw up) - during and after eating. 3) Thrown up - during and after eating (tricky cuzcoz it can be mild at times and they swallow it). 4) Eaten grass - after eating (to relieve her nausea, possibly help digestion). 3) Licked her front paws a whole lot - after eating. 4) Scratched a lot - after eating. 5) Has appetite (tested by offering her Brothers + rice), but won't eat this until starving. 6) ADDED symptom -- this one CREEPED ME OUT the most. Pup kept licking herself (clarification: licking her LIPS!!) NON-STOP. It's what caused me to panic and search for any other complaints.

I wasn't sure if she was having a seizure because she wouldn't stop licking FAST for a LONG time (maybe 10-30 mins at a time, happened like 5x), even though she appeared conscious and I fed her water (through a syringe) in case she was dehydrated. This really scared me. She may've had a seizure and I didn't even know it. She wouldn't stop when I spoke to her. By the way, I didn't pay attention to her stools because I let her go out and come back when she's done. But the times I did take her for a walk, she seemed constipated because she didn't seem to go #2 as much. At first, I kept thinking she must've got this for other reasons, so I didn't want to post. But her symptoms have been consistent enough and happen shortly after she eats. Now I don't know what to get her, I'm so afraid to trust any brand now. Are these expired? Is the Bison prepared in a sanitary way? Are they adding strange meats? Artificial things?

I had been feeding my 3 dogs TOTW Pacific Stream for over 5 years. Starting about two months ago, my dogs started acting differently. Their stomachs seemed to be upset a lot and they were eating grass. Then, about a month ago, the vomiting started. They were vomiting up the food they ate, sometimes hours later. I never thought it could be the dog food, I had always considered it a high quality food. I spent almost $1,000 at the vet, and started feeding a bland diet. My dog even had to get anti-nausea meds and have fluids injected. Things continued to go downhill, and my vet finally suggested trying a different food. I have been switching them over to Canidae Pure Sea, and was doing it slowly as to not cause any additional discomfort, but after reading all these negative reviews and the company not wanting to do anything about it, I will be throwing what I have left away immediately. Shame on them!

I have a 3 year old Siberian Husky weighing in at a health 84-lbs. Big boy and has always been very healthy. When he was a pup, we started him out on Organix puppy food and then after hearing nothing but good about the Taste of The Wild, moved over to the 30-lb bags. About 1-1/2 months ago he got really sick. All the symptoms, including bloody diarrhea, lack of appetite, unusually frequently full anal glands, chewing and licking raw spots on his paws, itching his ears to the point that they had raw spots inside & out etc. I thought that he had eaten something off the ground when I wasn't looking. Never in a million years did I suspect that it could be a change in the manufacturer's recipe. Then my wife found an article on Facebook that mentioned a recent number of complaints concerning Taste of The Wild.

It just so happened that we had run out of his old food and were ready to buy more. After looking into these complaints further and finding all of these comments, we've gone back to the Organix brand and he loves it. Just thinking about the worry and vet expenses etc. that this little episode has caused us. What a crappy thing for what was thought to be reputable company to do. I can only hope that the exposure to whatever Taste of The Wild has changed in their food, hasn't caused his liver or any other organs lasting damage.

As this situation develops, if it's found out to be a reckless disregard by the manufacturers for the well being of animals that consume their product, I sincerely hope that legal action is taken to dissuade both this company and other manufacturer from doing the same. I will call Taste of The Wild in the morning to register my complaint with them as well. I've already cautioned my local pet store and directed them to this website. Thank you for your comments.

I've seen some recent bad reviews concerning this dog food and would like to say that we have not had any problems with this brand. I have a very healthy 10-month-old German Shepherd, who was raised on the bison puppy formula until he was ~6 months in age and has been fed every flavor of the adult food since (Wetlands is his favorite). Shepherds are notorious for sensitive tummies, but he has been able to cycle through the formulae without any problems. No loose stools, hesitation of eating, he sheds less than most dogs (or cats) I've been around, and has a ton of energy. We're about to get a female sheppy (because sheppies are like M&Ms, one is never enough) and plan to feed her TOFT as well. He has done so well on it that I switched my cats' food to the Rocky Mountain formula.

They have done very well too and I have 2 that are approaching 20 years of age. The other 2 are 4 and 3 years old. All of my animals have beautiful coats and are, with the exception of the older two being a little overweight, very healthy and happy, to the point of being ornery. I never buy their food from an online retailer, but exclusively from a local animal feed and supply store, who makes sure the manufacture and expiration dates for each bag are clearly marked on the bag if the manufacturer doesn't put it on the package themselves. It always concerns me to see complaints from people who would buy food from an online retailer, rather than a reputable, locally owned and operated animal supply.

I have struggled with which brand of dry dog food to feed my dog, and I must confess to being fairly new to dog ownership. We rescued Ranger Jim from AK after he had been emancipated by a Sheriff's Deputy there and treated for heartworms in KY. He was one day from being put down before he was rescued by a group in KY. We found him online, fell in love instantly, and had him transported to ME, he now resides with our family in NH, is the best natured dog and needed very little training. Having never owned a pet, I didn't know what to feed him, how much to feed him or what brand I should choose.

With research and study, we settled on TOW and vary the variety each time we purchase it in 30 lb. bags. I feed him one cup twice daily with some unsalted canned vegetables so that he obtains vitamins and minerals that are not contained in the dry food and to fill him up with few calories. I occasionally add a little extra virgin olive oil which seems to help his coat. My wife and I rarely give him treats, but I have four children, and he tends to follow them into the kitchen for some reason though we have discouraged them from feeding him "people food".

Ranger Jim seems to love the food, and his health has been exceptional according to our vet. He is quite healthy, active, inquisitive and receives high marks on his veterinarian visits. After starting a bit overweight, he is holding steady at 70 lbs. After reading the reviews of TOW, I am quite concerned but haven't experienced any of the problems that others seem to detail in this string. We have been pleased with the quality of the food and how our dog seems to respond to it. I try to be frugal with our expenditures but want to purchase a high quality food for our dog. TOW seems to strike a nice balance between the two for our family, and Ranger Jim approves!

My four Malamutes were raised on TOTW and it's always been a wonderful food but something has changed. I am not going to talk bad about this company but something is wrong. It needs to be addressed. All four of my Malamutes became lethargic and mildly ill. My female had hair loss to her back left thigh at the same time as the fatigue and sickness started and I can't say for sure it's attributes but I need to put this in here.

As the symptoms began, they also began refusing to eat. We would drop an egg in the food, they'd lick it off and spit out the morsels. We added chicken, same thing. We actually had a pet store manager tell us about a brand customers had been buying like crazy and we switched foods to get them to eat and guess what? After we switched foods within THREE days they had nearly returned to normal behavior. By the weekend they were as they were before they got sick. Was it the food? I can't say that it was but I can say my dogs got sick, stopped eating and then began eating a new food and IMMEDIATELY got better. This is a good company so I hope they can figure out what changed. Was it the processing plant being shared? A change in meat processing? What? But seeing all these other issues I need to let them know that I feel we we're affected as well.

I have never written a review before, but felt it was necessary to let other pet owners know to not feed their dog this food. I have fed my dog Taste of the Wild for over 5 years with no problems. I bought a new bag about 3 weeks ago. The second I put it down my dog walked away from the bowl which is very rare. The first thing I said to my husband was that's weird. I hope it's not a new formula or a bad batch. I didn't think much of it. I took my dog to the vet a couple of weeks ago because he looked uncomfortable and wasn't acting like himself. He was also holding his tail strange I thought maybe his anal glands. The vet said they were full and expressed them but I thought it was strange as he never had an issue with them. He continued to eat his food now and then but was not scarfing it down like normal.

A week ago I brought him back to the vet because he just seemed "off" still. He didn't want his food but had an appetite for anything else including shredded chicken. My pup never threw up but seemed down. The vet suggested we take a standard blood test that would check his red and white counts including liver enzymes (specifically ALT and ALP). Both of them had skyrocketed from a year ago when we took his blood before a dental cleaning. The ALT doubled from 75 to 162. And the ALP, or AP, went from 120 to over 600.

I just got this news yesterday. I don't know what made me think to google Taste of the Wild but all of a sudden today I thought maybe it could be the food. Sure enough I google and find multiple websites about dogs who had eaten this food for years that were recently sickened by it when their owners purchased a new bag. This is very scary. I threw the food away and stopped feeding immediately. Like I said before? I never write posts but my dog is my first child and I know how much people love their pets. They rely on us to take care of them and if I can help one pup by taking the time to write this review it's worth it.

I own 5 dogs and frequently foster for a pure breed rescue. Despite the fact that Taste of the Wild has NEVER been rescue friendly and not interested in helping the rescue community, I have been a loyal customer for 10 years, frequently buying up to 4 30 pound bags a month. My philosophy, if it works, don't mess with it... I've been very satisfied with this food until recently.

My dogs are all very robust eaters except for the last 2 weeks. I noticed disinterest initially then the watery foul smelling diarrhea started with intermittent vomiting. My 2 senior dachshunds displayed symptoms first, followed shortly thereafter by my 21 month old bulldog and then 10 year old bulldog. Both Dachshunds had pancreatitis, enteritis and elevated liver enzymes. When the other 2 began to display the same symptoms my vet said we should assume ALL 4 had the same problem and treat aggressively. The smallest (12 pounds) was affected most severely requiring subq fluids, steroid shot, ** and **, along with a bland diet.

For 5 days I have been cleaning up vomits and bloody diarrhea while those poor babies were suffering with abdominal pain. That POISON is no longer in my home and because of TOTW's casual attitude regarding MULTIPLE complaints, it never will be again. TOTW denies that they are getting multiple complaints but their Facebook page would prove otherwise. They also report that they have analyzed the food and there is no problem. How could so many pet owners who clearly love their pets and are willing to spend $50 on a bag of quality dog food be sooo wrong???

We decided to shop local and switched both our house cats and barn cats to Taste of the Wild Cat Food from Cat Chow... Within a week our house cats experienced severe diarrhea and lethargy. I assumed it was due to the change alone, and kept feeding it. Our cats are quite large and hairy, so I did not notice the dramatic weight loss right away. Several members of the family normally keep their food bowl topped off, so as their consumption decreased, we did not pick up on it right away. I thought my daughter was feeding them, she thought I was, etc.

Next thing we know, the cats are jumping on the table while we are eating and are aggressively trying to steal food off our plates! I started to become more concerned and as I handled them found they had gotten so skinny their back and hip bones could be felt easily under their hair coats... All the while their food bowl sat full. They were WILLING TO STARVE THEMSELVES RATHER THAN EAT TOTW cat food! I have switched them back to Cat Chow without illness or incident and they have gained back all their weight, thank goodness!

I immediately turned my attention to our barn cats, and asked that nobody refill their feed bowl until I could determine exactly how much they were consuming. Since they relieve themselves in the bush, I was unable to determine if they experienced diarrhea. Since they are only fed cat food once a week, they are also skilled at supplementing their diet with hunting. Therefore, they did not have the same dramatic weight loss the house cats did. Still, they were losing weight. I tossed their TOTW feed out onto the grass and refilled their bowl with Cat Chow. In 3 days, it is empty... While the TOTW (out in the elements where the cats, birds, dogs, goat, pig, and peacock could access it) still sits untouched!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND: Taste of the Wild Cat Food.

I have to say, I'm pretty heartbroken to be joining in on this one, because I've been feeding TOTW to our family dogs for nearly ten years and have had nothing but wonderful things to say about it. I've also convinced several friends to add this line into their food rotation. It was, hands down, the best, most trusted brand on the market, thanks to the amazing combination of price point, quality, named/novelty protein, and allergy-friendliness. This latest experience has, unfortunately, badly marred my opinion of the brand, though.

Two weeks ago, after he'd finished a bag of the High Prairie Puppy formula, I decided to transition him to the adult version of the same flavor instead of buying more puppy. A few days in, I noticed that he'd developed these weird red bumps all over his belly. It's brutal during the Florida summer, so I figured maybe he'd been laying in the wet grass and had gotten bit up by bugs. Then I noticed he was chewing his paws constantly, and had started to shed like mad (Bostons are typically very low shed). After meals, the area under his nose - his lips? - also seemed to get really red and swollen. It occurred to me that I hadn't checked the ingredients list (figuring the adult version was similar to the puppy), and lo and behold... the adult High Prairie also has chicken in the listed ingredients.

Feeling like a heel for feeding my baby something I knew he was sensitive to, I threw out that bag and rushed out to buy a bag of the TOTW Pacific Stream Adult, which does not have chicken in it. Meal one, he absolutely turned his nose up. He'd gone through a few small bags of the Pacific Stream Puppy, plus I often give him organic salmon treats, so I knew he was normally fine with the flavor. But no, he wasn't interested in eating. Instead of his normal 1.5 or 2 cups of food daily, he was down to moping through maybe half a cup a day. His lips were still swelling up after meals and the bumps on his belly seemed to be getting worse. By day three, he started getting the bumps up his sides and along his back too. He went from mopey to straight up lethargic (again, he's a one year old puppy - boundless balls of energy).

I started scouring the internet for an answer and finally checked Dog Food Advisor and Amazon late last night, was redirected to this site, and got to see just how many people were experiencing the same thing we're going through. I'm appalled that the company has yet to do more than state "there's nothing wrong," when there is clearly something very, very wrong with these latest lots of food. I can't say what lot our first bag (High Prairie Adult) was from, since we threw it out right away, but this latest bag of Pacific Stream says "Best by May 4, 2018." I've included two snapshots of the lot info, just in case that helps anyone. Will share the same with TOTW tomorrow when I'm able to call.

I ran out before work this morning and grabbed a bag of Canidae Pure Sea... very, very similar ingredients, similar smell (and I'm guessing, flavor). I put it in his bowl, he took a sniff, and actually ate several bites of the kibble before eventually moping away. And he's made his way through about a full cup today (compared to not quite a half cup yesterday). He's still lethargic and ridiculously itchy, but he has had NO noticeable swelling of his lips. ** (per our vet) and Zymox shampoo/creme rinse seem to be calming him a bit as well. I'm sure it'll take several days for most of the symptoms to start clearing up. For what it's worth, Amazon has officially marked this brand of dog food as "currently unavailable."

She doesn't finish the usual amount which is not her style, she's normally a gobbler and a snorter, lol. She will regretfully eat the rest throughout the day... Not tonight! I made her a sweet potato. I'm wondering if we'll see a repeat of, Schell & Kampeter, Inc.'s, settlement in 2012 for a salmonella. Perhaps they aren't paying attention to the levels of protein in the finished product which is why we've read so many reviews about increased liver enzymes... I'm sure we'll hear more soon. Good luck with your furrbabies and furrever friends.

We've been feeding our furbaby TOTW since we brought her home 3 years ago. Did a lot of research and decided this was the best food for her. Never had a problem until earlier this month. We’re about 4 days into the bag and she got really sick. Diarrhea everywhere. Tried some at home remedies (**, steamed chicken and rice, etc.) but after 2 days and no progress, brought her to the vet. Turns out she had incredibly high pancreas enzymes and needed to take some serious meds.

We can't be sure it was 100% the food, but not taking any chances. Will be throwing the rest of the bag away. Called TOTW today with production info and was told I'd receive a call back from their veterinary team tomorrow. No offer of reimbursement or replacement. They did say that they have not received many calls to this so please CALL THEM and report. They won't investigate or recall without this info!

I used TOTW for a couple years, but discontinued it in 2015 when my dog refused to eat it. I thought I'd try again last month. Again, she refused to eat it until she became too hungry. But, when she ate it, she had extreme heartburn and other strange behaviors. I stopped forcing the TOTW and put her on chicken and rice. Her heartburn, seizures, diarrhea stopped. Not going to buy this brand again. I tried to put a review on Amazon, where I bought it, but they refused to post it--strange!

I switched from Orijen to TOTW because it was recommended and reasonably priced compared to Orijen. I have a standard poodle who is a little picky but has never turned his nose to TOTW. I read so many bad reviews and the single thing in common with all the bad reviews is that they were all "prairie dog/bison" and most were purchased from Amazon. I have always bought from my local store or Chewy.com and have always fed pacific Stream and have never had a problem.

Two months ago I thought changing protein would be a good thing. I ordered bison and come to find out that it was a bad decision as my poodle turned his nose up and would not eat his food. Initially I thought it was a transitional thing and he will get used to it however after half the bag was gone and he was not getting used to eating it we got rid of it and went back to Pacific Stream which she started to eat normally and with pleasure. After reading so many bad reviews it makes me leery of Taste of the Wild. However I think I will continue to use it and continue to buy it from a local store and not change protein Which appears to be the issue.

I've been feeding my dogs TOTW for over 7 yrs and never had a problem and the dogs loved it. Alternated the different formulas from time to time to give the dogs a change in taste. But then last month each of my dogs developed runny stools but then it stopped but noticed one of my dogs was drinking and urinating a lot. Thought it might've just been due to needing a change in formula so when that bag was finished I changed to the lamb formula last week.

Now after starting the lamb formula that same dog is really drinking to excess and urinating to excess and his gums are pale and will be taking him to the vet's! I searched all over the internet for symptom checkers and found nothing until I came across this site and I am totally in shock since my dogs did extremely well on it all this time, until last month. Needless to say it has gone into the trash! We all need to phone the Better Business Bureau to see if TOTW is on their list and also ConsumerAffairs to lodge formal complaints!

I have read numerous complaints on TOTW starting Spring 2017. Very few people put the VARIETY of TOTW they are talking about. Usually when there's a pet food issue only 1-2 varieties are affected and it usually can be traced back to unsanitary conditions at the plant that produced those varieties. My dogs have been on TOTW for years (except for about a year when they had the recall 5-6 yrs ago) currently on TOTW Pine Forest. No issues. If others could post what VARIETY is causing issues it would be helpful.

So we started him on the Wetlands formula and never had another problem. Also we believe the Omega 3 and 6 fish oil will help. So far we have been TOTW for a good 7 years total. One thing no one mentioned is treats are a part of a diet. At first he had some sensitive issues, before changing the food we stopped all treats. As time went on we introduced 1 treat at a time. We trust Natural Balance Limited Ingredients treats.

I have fed this food for years. Our rescue dog came to us with a bad case of dry skin and allergies (he's a boxer - it's SO common in them). We put him on TOTW Salmon and he dramatically changed. Every time we go to the vet, they can't believe how healthy he is and how in shape he is. I knew the food was good because the food stunk so terribly. You could smell it from the other side of the house when he was eating it. He LOVED it.

However, recently, he stopped eating it all together. He wouldn't go near the bowl until he was starving or I doused it with coconut oil. I wasn't too concerned, unfortunately, because I figured he was just tired of the flavor - it happens. We went and bought a new TOTW recipe - the wetlands - and he ate one bowl and turned the rest down. He's been lethargic and itchy, and had bouts of diarrhea. It made no sense. He doesn't get table scraps and he's on fish oil for his skin anyways - so why was he suddenly sub par?

I went to google TOTW's website when I saw that on this website the food was rated 1.2 stars whereas I've never seen it rated under 5! I was terrified when I read this thread and I did more research on FB as well. I realized that this is the reason he will not eat. And I also realized that the food does not smell anymore - and is a different size and color than it always has been! I don't know what is going on with TOTW but we will be switching both of our dogs off of it immediately to prevent further damage. My dogs are NOT the same on this food anymore and clearly they have a problem on their hands that they are not admitting to. Get your dogs off it while it's still early!

The reason I am writing this review is that I have been monitoring this website since January 2017 and notice that the complaints concerning this dog food are consistent across the board. The question should no longer be is there a problem with the food, but what we need to do to get this food off the shelves. I have three bichons who are prone to struvite stones and I placed them on Taste of the Wild dog food 5 years ago after our male had to undergo expensive surgery to have his stones removed. Last year (2016), this dog food disappeared from Pet Club’s shelves. We inquired at 3 different locations and the answer was the same, “we can’t get it to our store because they have a contract to make dog food for Costco.”

In the fall of 2016, we saw that the food was back on the shelves and bought one big bag. I noticed immediately upon opening the bag that the food smelled different. My dogs never finished that bag of food because I noticed unhealthy changes with all three dogs. The first noticeable sign that something was wrong is that they all started to become smelly and their hair quickly became dirty after they had been to their groomer several times. Second, a sign that my dogs are in distress is the black goop that comes from their eyes; all three dogs developed that. Third, one of my bichons developed struvite stones by January and last, my other dog developed problems with his kidneys.

It is too much of coincidence that my dogs went from being healthy to all having a physical problem. My dogs never had a problem with this food until it made its reappearance in the store in the fall of 2016. I will say that I am 99% confident that the food was reformulated and there is a problem with the ingredients. After reading other reviews for the past 6 months, I see where we are all saying the same thing. So where do we go from here? Just coming on this site to add to the list of complaints isn’t enough.

Our dog has been losing fur, losing weight, disinterested in everything, sleeps more than normal, lethargic, and can barely make it a half of a block before having to take a break. We brought her into the vet and had some blood tests done. We compared them to last year's blood test results and were shocked to see how many changes there were. She has an elevated liver enzyme, high cholesterol, something showed up with her kidney functioning, and she had a low white blood cell count, low neutrophils, and low lymphocytes. Last year she was completely healthy, and suddenly she has become very sick. Then I saw these reviews online. I am very concerned this dog food is making my dog ill.

We've fed Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream to our dogs for several years with wonderful results - until recently. On 6/14/17 my 6 year old beagle woke up at 4:00 am vomiting large masses of dark, muddy, foul-smelling puke. He's the kind of dog that will get into everything and I figured he'd eaten something he wasn't supposed to and I put him on a bland diet. A day and a half later, my 11 year old beagle basset began throwing up, too. Since she was put on antibiotics, I thought maybe that was the issue, so we tried new antibiotics from the vet but had the same sickly results. She had to have antivomit meds injected because she couldn't keep the pill form down. Now we've learned she has pancreatitis.

Both dogs have improved, but I will not feed them this food again. I have no proof that the food caused this, but after reading the numerous complaints here and on Taste of the Wild's Facebook page, I am very concerned with the lack of response from the company. Each response seems very cut-and-paste and they continue to claim there's been no change in formula. My concern is there is some contamination from their material supplier(s). People from all over the country are having issues, it doesn't seem localized to one plant. Unfortunately I don't have the UPC and date stamps from the last bag I used because I put it all in an airtight container. I still gave two stars because I cannot prove the food is the only issue. But when a company has been contacted by hundreds of people all over the country for over three months with concerns, you'd think they'd look a little deeper.

My bulldogs all have their issues. So with Pine Forest they were finally without issue. The past 10 days or so, 2 of them have been vomiting (no alarm set off, bulldogs do that from time to time), and VERY loose stools. I didn't think anything of it, after all, at one time or another, they can get a stomach bug.

Then I read about other people having issues with their dogs that eat TOTW. Now, I cant be 100 percent certain its the food, but I DO KNOW THIS... I will no longer feed it to them. We have immediately switched to a similar formula of another brand (Health Extension Venison grain free), and added pumpkin to the food because of the abrupt switch. I am so disappointed, I thought I was feeding a high quality food. Calling TOTW tomorrow to lodge a formal complaint. Its disheartening, this is the same reason I switched from Blue Buffalo... I wish I had time and energy to cook for them myself, at least I would be certain of the ingredients and integrity.

First off I have to say I have fed Taste of the Wild Sierra Lamb for years without problems. It is my go to choice! Never had a problem--until now! I purchased my bag from Chewy's online ordering about a week ago. I noticed that the food seemed lighter in color but didn't think much of it. My four small dogs (4 lb chihuahua, 7 lb Chorkie, 9 lb Brussels Griffon, 16 lb mixed breed) had eaten it twice a day for 1 week. We noticed about a week in that my chihuahua started acting funny. She seemed scared, tail between legs, lethargic, wanted to either be in her crate or clinging to you. We thought it was perhaps a pre-seizure as we were told before we got her that she had experienced one (we have had her approximately 7 months without incident however).

The next morning she seemed fine fed her breakfast and a half hour same demeanor as the night before, then about noon perked up and seemed fine, then again with dinner same thing half hour after she eats Taste of the Wild High Sierra Lamb she seemed sick again and sad. We then also noticed that our Chorkie seemed to be acting similarly to her scared, tail between legs etc. That's when I thought it might be the food and checked if there was a recall. No recall but found this website. Immediately stopped feeding. Cooked them breakfast (eggs and rice) and both of the two who were acting funny seemed fine.

We went to our store and purchased Holistic Selects (what we used to feed before Taste of the Wild) and they now seem completely normal. There is something seriously wrong with this food. I believe it affected my smallest dog first and then second smallest dog due to it accumulating in their system faster. I am very disappointed there has not been a recall and will be contacting Chewy's and Taste of the Wild Today about this issue.

My 2 dogs have been eating this food for a long time now, more than a year, probably 2 or 3. Just this past week BOTH my dogs started getting sick. It is a newer bag, maybe 2 weeks old. It started with loud tummies, then vomiting, followed by loose stool and then mucus bloody stools. Only once in the last 5 years has either of my dogs had this extreme gastritis and that was because one of them got into a bag of trash that was not properly secured that a opossum tore open. That was 3 years ago. And trust me, that was the first thing I did - I walked our property to make sure there wasn't any kind of trash in the yard. Followed by a thorough washing of all of their bowls. We wash them regularly but again, I wanted to be sure that they weren't getting sick from something in or around the house.

They did not have anything different in their diets in the last 2 weeks. They don't get human food and only get the same brand dog treats. Since stopping the food and moving a chicken, rice, plain yogurt and pumpkin diet, they are returning to normal. The biggest reason I fear it's the food is because they both became sick at the same time. My older dog threw up overnight and had diarrhea that day. The night the diarrhea started in the older dog, the younger dog threw up during the night, followed by diarrhea that day. It was fast too. It was a normal stool, followed by a soft stool, followed by mucus and blood. Both only vomited 1 more time after the initial time but the diarrhea has been on-going for 5 days now but is returning to normal. If they had become sick further apart from each other, I probably wouldn't have suspected the food at all, even after reading the article.

I was just about to start back on the food when I saw these reviews and now I question if it's the food that made them sick or not. In an over-abundance of caution, I am throwing away this $50 bag of food and moving to another brand. I hope that if there is something wrong with a recent batch of food that the manufacturer recalls the food. This was the only brand that both my dogs could eat and not have food related allergies with. I'm very upset that they became sick and that we will now have to start the process of trial and error to find another food that works for them. (They are bulldogs and food related allergies are very common in the breed.) I truly hope that no more dogs become sick and that it isn't the food but better safe than sorry.

I purchased Taste of the Wild High Prairie formula recently. My dog has become progressively lethargic since I began using it. I have used the same food for about two years and have had no problems. A recent visit to the vet indicated he had elevated liver enzyme levels almost triple of normal. The vet said she was sure it was caused by something the dog ingested. She suggested that I no longer feed him the TOTW as it may be tainted. I have been feeding him beef and rice and chicken and rice along with medication the vet prescribed and he seems to be doing better.

As I reviewed the pet food, I noticed that several people have experienced the same symptoms in their pets. All of the reviews were listed during the last few months leading me to believe that something tainted the product manufactured during this period. The expiration date was listed as 4/2018. The vet indicated that liver damage may have occurred, only time will tell. I would highly suggest a recall by TOTW for all products manufactured during this time.

Lunch & dinner were a different story. She wanted nothing much to do with it. I set it down and she didn't dive in like normal. She laid by the bowl and barked at it. I will admit the second bag didn't smell as good as the first, I mean as good as dog food can smell.

My dog has been on TOTW. This is the second bag I just started. He has started vomiting large pools of mud brown colored vomit. I wish the dog food company would have stricter guidelines enforced. My dog is like family. I only want to feed them the best.
