I bought product at the Dollar Store. My dog is 17lbs says to use on dogs 7-33 lbs. Past 3 days she has had a head tilt and weirdly scratching her neck. Took her to vet today and he said Permethrin (main ingredient) is highly poisonous. They even have on the box "DO NOT USE ON CATS, MAY BE FATAL." I feel horrible. I have put my dogs life in jeopardy. Do not use this product. If you have, wash immediately off with sensitive soap or shampoo, then again day or so later.

I purchased this product at the Dollar Tree in Hammond Indiana. I followed the instructions on back and immediately my cat started to run through my house and made a licking motion with his mouth. Almost like when we get peanut butter in our mouth and can't lick the roof of our mouth?! He then started to gag like he was trying to throw up. A white foam came from the side of his mouth. He wouldn't drink any water or eat food for 8 hours. We tried guiding him to water every 10 minutes. Finally he started to cry and scratch the back of neck area with his hind leg.

I immediately gave him a bath and tried to rinse the Nature's Guardian off him. I noticed red patches through his hair from the solution. I will be taking my cat Jax to the vet soon as I can. We are in a quarantine right now due to the corona 19 pandemic in my state. Please take this product off the shelves. It is so harmful to cats. I'm so emotional right now. I can't stop crying writing this complaint...

I have pictures if I’m able to attach them. Today is November 26 and she is just now to where she’s not bleeding. I thought I just chose a bad day for the bath. That night he became distant from everyone. Which my baby is a cuddler. Next day he was getting sick after drinking his water. I thought perhaps he had a cold. So Tuesday morning when my grandson showed up and made it all the way in the house and my dog never even lifted his head. I knew something was wrong.

Hi, DO NOT USE. This product is TOXIC to cats. Upon following the directions (we called Sergeant's to ensure we did so correctly) our cat had a severe reaction to the flea treatment. Within 2 minutes of applying the treatment, our cat was howling and disoriented. She was running around the house and acting erratically. We promptly washed the flea treatment off, along with all the hair in the area that we applied the treatment.

We called Sergeant's hotline and explained the issue. They said they would forward us to an animal med tech for advice. I was told I was being transferred to the 'Canadian line," and was immediately disconnected. I called back expressing my worry, and that I needed to speak to their medical team right away. The customer service agent responded with, "we have a med tech available, but not for this product. I can not forward you to our medical team."

We then read the reviews for this product online, and there are hundreds mentioning the same thing we experienced - along with seizures, loss of movement and even death. There should be a class-action lawsuit against this company for producing and distributing a pet product that is extremely harmful to pets. If you need further warning, read the hundreds of horrific reviews online.

My 4-yr old Calico female - Calypso - was loaded w/ fleas after escaping from the house for 3 days. When I finally caught her - I needed to get something quickly to quell the fleas. My vet wasn't open until Monday and this was a Friday night. I purchased the product at Dollar Tree, brought it home, and with some trepidation, applied it to the high part of her neck, so she couldn't lick it off. The odor was very strong at first and I was scared to death. She didn't react at all to it. While I was happily shocked, I was still cautious and watched for any negative reactions for the next 24 hours. There have been none at all.

I flea combed her 2 days later and only found 3 of the little buggers. She has no burn marks on her skin, and she has been behaving normally. I feel that applying it very high up on the neck made some difference, as she was not able to ingest it. She didn't even try to twist around and lick it. Again - I made it impossible for her to do so because of the location. This is the first time I've used an OTC flea medication and I'm relieved that no harm came to my baby girl. That was 6 days ago - still no problems.

I am writing this review as a public service, keeping in your mind your pre-message advice about your products. One, I paid 59.99 at the local Walmart because I, too, am on disability and live on a fixed income, $8000 a year. My dog Lola; she is a maltese/poodle mix that weighs 20 lbs by the vet. I bought the economy pack of 6 tubes of Pet Armor Plus. Had I noticed that it was a Sergeant's product I would not have purchased it in the first place as your product are not safe for the animal, not effective and like most large companies, value for profit far outweighs the quality of lives for the pet and family.

If you can't sell products that do the job without causing our furry family members vomiting, diarrhea, lack of muscle control especially in the lower half of the spine and other neurotic symptoms. I followed directions to the letter and I noticed all of the same symptoms people have mentioned consistently throughout user reviews, the key word being consistently and yet you have made no effort to change your product's effects or resisted putting profit ahead of health. Shame on you, Sergeant's. I would expect a class action lawsuit, sincerely.

Like an idiot, I didn't part my then 4 month old Calico kitten's hair. So this stuff slide down where she could lick it. It says on the box to feed her if she ingests it. I did. No matter, she acted like she was drugged out of her mind. Confused, catatonic, shakes, salivating profusely then foaming then salivating. Head and leg shakes and trimmers, etc. An hour after applying I did wipe the stuff off of her. The symptoms are worse the within the first 6 hours after applying. I went to bed but she was 80% recovered by morning and 100% by the next day or so. The month prior she didn't ingest as much and had fewer symptoms.

Two weeks later, it's as if nothing had happened. She's very much alive, spunky, playful, ornery. She still has fleas but they die - this stuff works like roach bait, it attracts the fleas so they can carry it to other fleas and kill colonies. I'm in the country/woods so there is no 100% to killing fleas. But I seldom have one on me in areas she has been.

Would I recommend it? No. Because I don't like seeing my cat that sick and me having to worry. Thankfully I have a low-cost clinic that offers an alternative I will use next time. But read the box for ANY of these flea killers - no matter the brand, they are all poison. That's the point of flea killer - to kill fleas by absorbing into the cat's bloodstream. Make sure you know how to apply it and what side effects to expect. It can be a scary thing. My Mom used this product correctly on her kitten. Correctly. Didn't make him sick and he's not best of health.

I would say if you must buy this brand or any product from Dollar General, Walmart, etc, READ THE BOX, expect side effects, clean it off of them within an hour, do what the box says, don't panic to a vet right away, and don't give this to older cats or cats with bad immune systems or are very sick. I read you can give them ** or baby ** if you feel it is a must. But unless your cat drinks it, there is a great chance they'll live and greater chance their recover 100%. And use only ONE PRODUCT A MONTH OR EVERY 30 DAYS.

Don't buy the "only the vets use the real stuff" gimmick. That's not true - you can buy 5 or more types of Frontline from many pharmacies, exact same stuff your vet may give. Only they make money from their markup when you buy it from them so vets will push it. Long story short. My kitten lived and is 100% but it made her very sick. I fed her after, didn't take her to the vet, and let it run its course. Still, I have no plans to use this product again and only recommend it if your budget limits you AND YOU FOLLOW DIRECTIONS ON BOX AND READ EVERYTHING ON BOX BEFORE APPLYING IT.

I just adopted a stray wildcat. He's beautiful! I named him Timmy. So I am buying stuff to get him all fixed up. I went up to my local Dollar General store and bought my new cat a Sergeant's Dual Action flea & tick collar. When I got home I immediately put this Sergeant's flea and tick collar on Timmy. In a matter of minutes Timmy was acting strange and walking funny. I went online to research and read reviews on Sergeant's flea & tick collar for cats. I was getting real upset about the reviews I was reading. Reviews of Pet owners dogs and cats suffering from seizures, burns around neck, in some cases even death and the list goes on. I immediately took the Sergeants flea collar off of Timmy and I put it where it belongs. The trash!

I cannot believe that our government lets pet companies sell dangerous products for our beloved pets. Perhaps that is why America ranks as the second country in the world for animal abuse. It all makes me sick! I am not going to take this experience lying down. I am going to research and find the important ones to complain about Sergeants. I am going to set the bar! I am going to raise the roof. I implore my fellow animal lovers to do the same. Raise the roof for the love of your pets. You all have computers? Use them!

Fortunately I write politicians, professionals, etc.. on issues I think are important. I do a lot of online research and writing so I already know how to get people's attention. You all learn and do the same. I read a quote that said, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing". I plan on doing my part and I hope my fellow animal lovers feels the same way that I do. Outraged! May many blessing fall upon you all, your families, and your beloved pets. David

It was called Sergeant's Nature's Guardian Natural Flea and Tick squeeze-on for cats/kittens Peppermint oil. He tested negative for epilepsy and over the next 5-6 weeks the seizures were regular/weekly, but not enough to consider his quality of life so bad that we would have to put him down so the Vet figured they would try to give him medicine to minimize the seizures, hoping it might help and within about a week after that we woke up to him going into a seizure that he would never come out of. Very unusual I decided then to remove this collar. Today I noticed all her hair on one side of her neck is gone. I can see red tissue. I'm so afraid she could get infected. I have to get her to a veterinarian now.

With limited options at the time, I purchased this brand in lieu of Hartz Brand Flea shampoo because I'm aware of what Hartz can do to pets - didn't realize this would be one and the same. Aside from not actually working for its intended purpose, this flea and tick shampoo was incredibly toxic to my poor dog. I have an otherwise healthy, 11 year old Pomeranian that is still recovering from use of this poisonous product. Tremors, difficulty breathing, feverish, irritated skin, loss of appetite, loss of balance... When I realized this was a result of the shampoo I immediately bathed her in Dawn Dishsoap and took her into the Vet. I've now got steroids, antibiotics, bloodwork and stool samples to complete and must closely monitor her breathing. Hopeful that I'm a lucky one that caught it in time and got it off her skin while I still could. If you make the same mistake - DAWN Dish Soap!!! and Vet!

I used this product. Within two hours three of my cats were shaking uncontrollably trembling into seizures! We had to take them to the emergency 24-hour vet which was a hundred and fifty per cat so there we spent $300 right. They call him the seizures down. We brought the animals home. They were still shaking uncontrollably but not in seizures. We had to take them all three to the normal vet the next day which was another $75! So me being a cheapskate and trying to save some money and bought this cheap product ended up spending $425 to save my babies lives.

Here is the treatment that the vet gave to us. If you have accidentally use this product you need to give your babies this muscle relaxer. This is what saved my babies! Okay it is a 500mg **! My cats all weighed 7 point something pounds. The treatment with them with this muscle relaxer was 1/4 of the 500 mg tablet. This brings your babies out of the seizures. Not permanently at first. You have to watch them for the next week and if another seizure comes on you give them another dose of the medicine! I just wanted to give this information to people because not everyone can afford to take their baby straight to a 24-hour emergency vet!

So about a month ago, I bought my cat Sergeant's once monthly flea and tick squeeze on application. Almost immediately, I noticed my cat was sitting in the litter box more. I assumed it just felt good to him due to the heat levels for Ohio July Heat. In the last two weeks, I began noticing that feces was in the litter box, but he wasn't urinating as much. I had explained that off to myself as well.

To make a long story short, my cat is, as we speak having emergency surgery done on his urethra. He was foaming at the mouth, and was taken to the vet in critical condition. I believe with all of my heart that this cheap squeeze on is what made my cat sick. Some cats can have an allergic reaction to the chemicals in these cheaper brands causing them stress. So as I sit here crying and writing this review, I know that I could get the call that he didn't make it. Spend the extra $15 to get the Advantage. I know I will. My cheap ways may have cost me the life of my companion Bandit. I usually used vet prescribed treats, however, after hours on a weekend, Bella brought fleas in the house from stray cats in neighborhood. My bed has white sheets, and noticed the beginning of a near infestation. Quickly taking care of Bella first, SERGEANT'S flea drops were applied to the back of her neck. Then yard and home. Bella was diagnosed with Addison's Disease last summer and nearly died. SHE SURVIVED! Thereafter, she received daily medicine to live. Her Addison's was totally under control. Now, within 24 hours of applying these drops, she developed a huge red spot. I immediately washed her with Dawn soap. Bella could risk going into major crisis. I know if she could risk this, give an extra dose of meds. I will get her to vet on Monday, I thought... Bella never made it.

I stayed up with her all Sunday night, laying by her side. Green-yellowish puss started releasing from her vulva, application site, AND eyes! She stopped eating the day prior. I had to carry her due to becoming immobile. It was very heartbreaking. This came on so sudden and extremely quick! From a spunky, crazy puppy, to what had become of her is still unfathomable. She couldn't lick for kisses. She put her nose to my face. Within a few hours, she left me. I felt she was ok to run to store. I came home to find my princess... Nothing can bring my Bella back. I can grieve every day for her. I MUST MAKE AWARENESS TO EVERYONE TO SAVE OTHER LOVED FAMILY PETS. This is in loving memory of Bella. Picture of Bella and I a few hours before she passed away.

I immediately went to the computer and did a little research, and wasn't too pleased to read what chemicals were in the product, so I gave my cat a bath and scrubbed out the toxic chemicals the best I could. (My cat was so affected by the Sergeant's Silver that she didn't even care about the bath, like, at all, and those of you who have a cat that doesn't like water know what I'm talking about.)

After a few days of monitoring my poor kitty, she started to eat and drink again, and on about the 7th day after I bathed her she was back to her playful happy self. I was fortunate enough to not lose my cat to this terrible product, but sadly, based on other reviews I read, others were not so fortunate, so my advice to anyone considering buying this product or any product sold by Sergeant's is PLEASE save your pet the suffering and spend the money on trusted products, but if you don't have the money, find another way like combing your cat every day or bathing it as often as possible, but stay away from Sergeant's products.

Awful product this "Sergeant's Evolve 40 Flea & for Dogs 40-60 lbs 3 Month Supply", my dog started to scratch all over the place, I had to make her take a bath at 6 pm with warm water and a lot of soap. I bought this Sergeant's Evolve product from a unethical seller from eBay who I am sure, knows that this product is toxic to dogs... The seller name is "goodsretailstore" from Bellevue, Washington. Their response after my complain was "Dear Customer, We are really sorry for your dogs, but we sold this products and still selling them for a lot of customers, and all the time everything was OK. We do not know what happened with your dogs and why they had reaction like this, but we are sure this is not problem in our product. Sincerely goodsretailstore." As you can see "goodsretailstore" does not care a bit about dogs, but only about selling a product which has been proven to be toxic.

PetArmor Plus did seem to work on my 5-pound short-haired kitten. However, I used it on my 10-pound long-haired Persian exactly as instructed (parting the hair and putting it directly on the skin in between the shoulder blades) and fleas seem worse now than they were when I first put it on two weeks ago. Followed up with a second bottle just in case I hadn't got it all on my cat, and it's still not controlling the fleas at all. Going back to Advantage. I just don't see how they get away with charging people so much for a product that doesn't work as advertised. I had read that the original Frontline used to be an oil. However, this is definitely not an oil. It's more water or alcohol-based. Either way, my cat is miserable, and PetArmor got all my money...

Last month applied it to everyone as usual and a month isn't even up yet and over 1/2 our cats have fleas already and 6 of 9 dogs I've gotten fleas off.

There's only so many baths you can give a creature before it's considered torture. I bought the flea collars for $4.00 a piece. 3 days after the collars had been on my fur babies, my boyfriend and I had noticed that my oldest cat (4 years old) had been scratching at her neck a lot. I cut the collar off her neck and was surprised with a complete bald neck and oozing puss and red irritation. I went to my other cat, completely outraged, and discovered the same issue just not as bad.

I called up the company with tears in my eyes and they told me "I'm sorry ma'am, there's nothing we can do. Here's a number to call to place a verbal complaint and you will receive a callback." Needless to say, it's been 4 months, no callback. Took my kitties a good month to heal completely and grow hair back. To the ones who lost your kitties over this product, my condolences. It looks like nothing on the surface, but touching the back of my hand it's alligator skin... After doing much, much more needed research that I should have done prior to paying for any products by this company (I'm a little poor, so I have fewer options); products from this company are detrimental to your pet's health. Anything from them has a high potential of POISONING YOUR PETS, yes, even if you FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. I sincerely urge you to never using anything made by this company.

SHUT IT DOWN. WE NEED MORE REGULATIONS ON PET PRODUCTS. People shouldn't have to be pained by the fact that they tried their best to help their pet believing false promises. "Throughout the years, weve developed and refined many products that remain on the shelves year after year." They should stay on the shelf, in some warehouse somewhere awaiting to be burned. How long has any particular box stayed on the shelf? Are these things sent back to the company and restocked in new boxes and labels after expiring? Is that why there's some with a mixed view on them? How have your products been "refined" to this DEATHLY cheap point after over 140 years? (1868) Go back to the drawing board because this is deplorable. Doctor Rod **, for the sake of your "thriving companion animal practice", I'd run because it's already too late.

I got this flea and tick collar for my 6 month rescue puppy. She's a lab and 32 pounds thank god so we didn't end up at the vet. Within 2 hours of putting this collar on she could barely walk. All she did was stand there staring off with her tail between her legs. She is normally in and out of everything. We could barely get her to walk to the car to go home from a friend's house. She could not even jump into the car. I read the instructions and "sensitivities" does not even begin to cover it. I cannot believe that I did this to my dog. Dollar General needs to remove this item from their shelves. I bought it because I live 45 minutes from any pet store and the vet was closed.

I've been using this product for years on my cats. You should just think outside the box. Yes it's poison. So feed cat, wait 1 Hour then apply. Then make sure you keep them calm (no kids, playing). If needed put them in a room by themselves.

I bought Skip-Flea shampoo to rid my cat of fleas. After a quick bath using the product, my cat began acting strangely. Within an hour, she was paralyzed from the neck down, with sporadic seizures. I took her to the vet, who confirmed that her symptoms looked like poisoning caused by the shampoo, and did everything they could to fix her. Our beloved kitty's suffering continued for three days before she finally passed.

I talked to the company multiple times, as did my sister and vet. They told all of us that the shampoo "does not typically cause those symptoms," but after reading the hundreds of horrible reviews on the product and Sergeant's company, I beg to differ. Their lack of compassion and responsibility is appalling and disgraceful. The fact that this product is still on the shelves and available to the general public is even more atrocious. The product does not advise to use gloves and recommends "no skin contact," but can someone please explain to me how to NOT get shampoo on the skin during a bath? Insanity! This could have happened to a human being, but because it was my cat, very little is being done by the company.

A representative called online reviews "liars" and "fakes" when I asked if they had any plans to take this dangerous toxic product out of stores after all the negative reviews. This whole experience, including losing my pet and the way their customer service dealt with it, has been sickening and traumatic. No family should ever have to go through something so devastating, and customers' concerns certainly should not be ignored like this. SHAME ON YOU, SERGEANT'S COMPANY!

It did not work, made my animals very nervous, and in no way changed the flea population on the animals bodies. Fool me once, we'll try to work it out, but you won't get another chance to get me to spend my social security money on such a faulty product. Purchased this product to use on my beloved cat to save money after spending HUNDREDS of dollars & countless hours cleaning to rid my home of a horrid flea infestation -- HUGE mistake!!! I applied the spot treatment to my cat yesterday around 11 a.m. Around 1 p.m. when we left the house to run errands he seemed fine although I noted he was a bit tired-looking. When we arrived home a few hours later my daughter noticed that he was nowhere to be found. We spent 45 minutes searching the house for him only to find him hidden in a corner under a dresser, clinging to the floor convulsing, salivating, trembling violently, teeth chattering & soaked in his own urine. I rushed him to the emergency vet only to discover he has TOXIC POISONING due to this flea medication!!

Apparently the medicine builds up in their system & it can take minutes, hours, or DAYS for symptoms of an allergic reaction or overdose to appear!!! So my baby spent the night hooked up to an IV & a catheter receiving charcoal, fluids, muscle relaxers (they couldn't fully sedate him because his heart rate was too high & to do so would've killed him instantly!!!), laxatives, & some other medicines I can't recall the name of to counteract the effects of this POISON!!!

This morning he is moving around but not eating & he responds to his name, & should be able to be discharged sometime this afternoon however there is still the possibility of permanent neurological damage!!! Topical medicines like this should NOT be able to be sold in stores!!! It should be regulated & sold ONLY by a pharmacist or veterinarian!!! My whole family is traumatized over this! I have NO DOUBT that if we didn't find him when we did & rush him to the vet that he would NOT BE ALIVE today!!! This company needs to be shut down!!!

My budget was tight this month, so I decided to just try this product on my young cat since I noticed a few fleas on him a couple days ago. Immediately he was scratching at it, which I figured was normal for flea treatments considering its an insecticide. I've never had to treat a pet for fleas before. Next morning he was hiding behind curtains as if he were scared of something, easily running out of breath when typically he's full of energy all the time and running around jumping on things and chasing flies.

When I picked him up because he was breathing so hard and panting even, his heart was beating way too fast. He acted dehydrated, and when I offered water he refused several times before finally caving in when I added some colder water from my cup. He's just not himself mentally either. He acts as if he's hallucinating and I've noticed tremors. He's constantly stopping in his tracks and throwing himself down because just trotting across the room takes his breath away. He doesn't want me to love on him or hold him... Normally I can't get this baby to leave me alone sometimes (not that I really want him to). I can't drive myself, and don't really have anyone in town I could call... So I'm waiting for my mom to come drive me to the nearest vet.

I've already washed him off, but it's been on him a day now and he's just acting like a totally different cat. Like he's mentally ill or something. His name is Jojen; after a character from my favorite books, The Song of Ice and Fire series. I myself have had him about a month and a half, I got him to be my therapy animal because I have Potsdam and bipolar 2 disorder (with way more lows than highs). I saw him being given away and the moment I saw his picture I knew I needed him, he has brought me out of a severe depression and if anything happens to his life I don't know if I can handle it. Not to mention my 2.5 year old daughter is extremely attached to him. He use to follow her around and sleep cuddled up next to her, now he acts like she's some stranger and runs away, she's gone through a lot too this past few months transitioning from moving.

I've used a pipette to make him take some liquid, I also mixed 2 of the droppers full with half water half ** to get some electrolytes in his system cause he's also had runny stool and his belly feels "off" and seems swollen. I'm calling the vet to see if it's safe to administer a tiny bit of ** as soon as I'm done writing here. I'm so worried that his personality is permanently changed.:( He use to be so awesome, he is the best and smartest cat I've ever had or been around in my life, he's almost like having a big dog in a little cat body. I had him following 6 different commands, 2 tricks and trained to walk on a leash... He won't do any of that now!

I swear, no matter what comes of this I won't stop until Sergeant's had to answer for what they've done to my family member and me and luck be with that company if he doesn't make it through this! I wish I had heard of these terrible ratings before putting this junk on him! This "company" should be ashamed... The whole company and anyone that works for them knowing they're manufacturing poison and killing people's beloved pets!! I won't accept any refund or "gifts" out of court. None of that fixes the damage that's ALREADY been done. I'm not stopping until Sergeant's is either forced out of business or changes their ethics and ingredients... AFTER they make it right with anyone that has had to experience this stress and emotional hardship.

I hope ratings can be edited after submitted, because I will be adding the receipt. I know exactly where it's at, I just can't get to it right this minute. It was marked at $5 here at my lock BIG LOTS store.P. S. THE FLEAS ARE THRIVING AND SEEM GENERALLY UNSCATHED. Actually the fleas even seem more abundant oddly enough.

Within 40 minutes they were jumping up and down on/off the couch and jerking around. They would try to lay down and they jerked every 2-3 SECONDS! I knew something was wrong! So I called Sergeant's and told them. They told me to bathe them twice in Dawn Dish Liquid and run water over them for 10 minutes, to get the product off. I did that. As I was drying them the smaller dog started foaming at the mouth. I was scared I was going to lose my dogs. I immediately called my vet and told him what had happened. He told me he has never been a friend of Sergeant's. But that was all I can do for now. It took 2 days for them to quit jerking and I felt so sorry that I had put this on them. Now I cannot use ANY flea product for 3 weeks! This has to get out of their system first!

Not even flea powder or spray. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT ON YOUR ANIMALS! It causes seizures, jerking, burning of the skin, foaming of the mouth, and I have heard even DEATH! Sergeant's flea and tick caused serious tremors, neuro problems in three of eleven cats I administered this product to. The vet said that the condition may not be reversible. But I was able to reverse the symptoms with fast action. A vet would have only given the cats IV's and activated charcoal which according to an honest vet, the charcoal won't do anything beneficial for the animal.

Here is what you should do immediately do not hesitate: 1. Wash the product off the pet with dish soap twice. If the pet won't let you give it a bath use wash cloths soaked in dish soap and water. 2. Over-feed the pet food that will make it poop. Choose food the animal won't resist overeating. I went to the dollar store for canned Mackerel fish for $1.65 per can, I bought several. I fed the cats every two hours as much as they were willing to eat. 3. Swap water for milk or fish juice in oil from canned fish. The oil helps the animal poop. By 7PM the animals returned to normal. This experience with Sergeant's was scary and heartbreaking. The cats were dying, they couldn't jump, they looked high on acid. It was an experience I don't want to go through again.

Jasmine and Raven both experienced tremors, seizures, nervousness, twitching and inability to eat or drink hours after application of this product. Luckily I was able to get them to the hospital in time to administer IV fluids and sedatives to help them recover!! If I had not taken them the Doc said they might not have survived!! Now we wait to see if they experience any residual organ and neurological effects from this poison. They are recovering now; two days later after being released from hospital and still seem a little "off", mild twitching and nervousness; and seem very scared and sensitive about human touch.

Only with positive voice recognition and a gentle hand do they seem to respond to touch. Unfortunately these poisonous drugs destroy the neurotransmitters that activate senses; making them fearful to stimuli of any kind!! Their doctor also said there could be residual episodes of resurgence of the poison in their system for a week or more... Their liver and kidneys can be affected and shut down because the poison has to be assimilated and passed through completely!! It is a terrible and frustrating experience that any pet parent has to endure with them!! I cannot afford a laywer to file a class action lawsuit. A cat was given spot-treatment. The mistake was, she was given the kind that was designed for dogs, not cats. This is a simple mistake that is very common especially in first time cat owners - a person imagines if it kills fleas in canines, it would do the same for cats. The difference is not only the ingredients inside the capsules but the fact there is a fatality rate due to these mistakes.

The kind for canines contains 45% Permethrin. The kind for cats do not have this ingredient. I will explain just how scary this stuff is. If you have a cat and dog living in the same household, just as much as applying it to the DOG can cause your cat to get sick just from rubbing against each other on occasion or laying down next to each other.

Once the cat's skin has absorbed Permethrin, it will get sick from the toxins and begin having seizures, sometimes as often to every few hours. It may begin trembling constantly with non-stop muscle spasms until its next seizure, and the cycle repeats. I found one article that said when a cat becomes sick due to Permethrin, it caps out at a 40% fatality rate. Sometimes due to permanent health complications to a point where it must be put to sleep, sometimes it dies rapidly due to the toxins.

Basically, the good news is that this can be cured. But only with time. The skin must be scrubbed thoroughly to stop the toxins from further absorption, and vet can give it some meds to boost the healing process. So you're not looking at thousands of dollars of vet bills, at least. May as well go ahead and start praying. The bad news is your cat has a excelling rate of dying. While you can easily say, 'it says it's not for cats, your mistake. Don't blame the company.' There's a reason certain drugs are only available through prescription. These capsules, should not be available for anyone to buy anywhere. They are lethal and require debriefing on their use upon purchase.

Cupcake, our petite, 6 lb cat, galloped the hallway, always at our feet. Ears perked for the sound of the treat pouch. We applied powder, collar, and the "Green" natural spray to most of our cats. The fleas did not abate for whatever reason -- maybe due to cats' confinement because of the big snow storm & the # of cats, 10. So I sprayed their brush with the "Green" spray. We noticed Cupcake slowed down. All of a sudden, we asked ourselves, is she eating? Drinking? We scrutinized her as she deteriorated, sometimes back legs flailing. Within 10 days, she is now on her deathbed.

We took her to the vet a few days ago and her lab values were normal. Except for elevated calcium, indicating a poss. renal failure; the kidneys felt small. The fleas were innumerable, so we combed her and got about 900!!! fleas. She wore a collar, but... it may have been at the 6-month expiration time. From the vet, we bought and applied Activyl. We are so sorry we could not afford to buy Activyl earlier, and that may've led to our cat's demise. Our cat has not had the strength to eat or even to walk, so we ask ourselves, what happened? Was it the massive fleas on her tiny frame that started the domino effect, the shutdown? Was it a reaction to the product?

At this point, we are only guessing, so I cannot place blame. I do feel that fleas are underestimated as an adversary, that most products don't work, even the Frontline stopped working a couple years ago. I don't believe the Sergeant's powder helped. We will use Merck's Activyl for our remaining cats. It is $14 per month and dosage is based on your cat's weight. Our Cupcake was the tiniest cat, an ink spot, all black, full of lithe vigor, loved to be picked up and pretend she was nothing more than a docile limp rag. No more galloping at our feet. It just happened so fast. To everybody on this board, another thing is to vacuum and get rid of carpet and rugs until your infestation is controlled. We even vacuumed our cat. Fleas are a scourge. Activyl has different ingredients than Advantage or Frontline. Good luck. I read that brewer's yeast in the diet would help repel fleas.

We are a loyal customer to Sergeant's flea stuff. We use it on our dog and works great. Well we got the Sergeant's silver brand drops for our cat and after a couple hours she got more elusive. Not unusual since she likes to ambush us when we're unsuspecting. Well getting closer to bed time and I call the cat 'cause we let the dog in and she likes to try to sneak out the door. Nothing. Jingled her bells and nothing and then I started getting worried. Walked around the house and finally I hear a thump and she's by the door.

Examining the cat, I notice a weird crouch walking and swoop down and pick her up and realize she's not trying to get away and is actual shivering. Then I used a flashlight to check if she was blind or her pupils dilated. Breathing a sigh of relief they did. But she's still acting strange and being ginger where she walks. So finally at wits' end, I figure it's the flea stuff and I find this horrific site where tons of people have had this problem and even more heart-wrenching, it killed their animals.

Rushed her through a bath and got more worried over her not trying to scratch me to death. Smelling her breath I realized that she had swallowed a lot of the flea drops and am now keeping a full water dish, hoping she'll drink and help it go away. I'm gonna be on night watch because I love this cat and I've harmed her soo badly with this stuff. Please don't use Sergeant's Silver for cats and kittens.

Called about an hour after I applied the product to my cat when he started acting lethargic/tearing up/sneezing. Asked what exactly made up the other 45% of the product, was told it was proprietary info. Brought up how it's potentially a completely other insecticide -- still told it was proprietary. It seems like no one cares about informing the consumer about the product's makeup, even when my pet has been showing symptoms of toxicity. Veterinarian told me that it has "a really wide margin of safety" as well -- complete **, from what I've seen of pet horror stories throughout this review thread.

I sat on hold for upwards of twenty minutes while a vet (who I'm sure as hell isn't certified) had me stuck listening to elevator music while she looked for treatment options when all I wanted to know was what was in the product. In the end, they told me all the symptoms my cat was experiencing had nothing to do with the product even though they were symptoms commonly experienced by cats due to synthetic pyrethroids/insecticides. Don't trust the emergency number or any "vet" they have there. They don't even know simple symptoms that occur when a cat is faced with a toxin.

My cat had fleas. We bought Sergeant's Gold Flea and Tick Spray for cats. Barely sprayed from back her neck to her tail. She started to clean herself licking within minutes. She started doing this yapping thing with her mouth, then it started uncontrolled foaming and her mouth dripping. She was walking sideways. And then she would barely move. I immediately washed her off and wrapped her up. Stayed up all night checking in her. Took about 3 days for her start acting normal. It says in the instructions humans are supposed to use gloves. Can't inhale or let soak through skin. I should have known if it's toxic for me to touch it will be worse for my cat to lick and ingest.

I stopped at a friend's home to find her totally distraught. She had purchased Sergeant's flea & tick topical at a Dollar Store for her two cats and applied it the night before. Within an hour her one cats was having severe spasms, the other cat did not seem to have any adverse reaction. She was up all night and when I arrived and saw the condition of her cat, I insisted that we take the cat to the vet immediately. We did and the vet said had we not brought him in, he would not have survived. The cat had to stay the day on IV's and his temperature, which was elevated, had to be monitored to prevent brain damage. Upon returning home, the other cat was starting to display the same symptoms so back to the vet for medicine. Because she had washed the cat and administered meds right away, that one did not have to endure what the first one did.

Once I heard it was Sergeant's brand that she used, I knew what happened. I know of three other people who's pets were poisoned after using these products. My question is, why does the FDA continue to allow these products on the shelves as I do believe they also regulate pet products as well as those for humans. Until they do, PLEASE, DO NOT USE THESE PRODUCTS ON YOUR PETS!

I found one flea on my cat so I decided to stop at Dollar General to pick up a flea treatment. The only one they had was this product. Big mistake. Good night. I first applied at my cat started running around the whole house foaming at the mouth and shaking. When I contacted the emergency number I was advised that this is normal and that my cat must have licked a spot on the fur that it had touched and that she was doing that because it was better to the taste. It made sense to me and I felt more confident since I was contacting the brand directly that they knew what they were talking about.

A few days later we noticed giant clumps and clumps of my cat's hair all throughout the house and it was everywhere! I started to check my cat and noticed that from the middle of the neck down to the shoulder blades where this product was applied there was nothing but 1 million scabs and bald spots all over my cat. I could not believe my eyes at how bad this product has hurt my cat! This is ridiculous that a product would leave such bad scabs and blood on a poor innocent cat. I have used flea treatments before and never had this encounter. I am so appalled! I can understand that some cats have sensitive skin but when I read the rest of the reviews and cats are actually dying and having seizures from this product and it is not being addressed as an issue is very discomforting to me. Shame on this company!

When I contacted the company to let them know what had happened with the chemical burn to my cat I was advised to take them immediately to the vet - that this was not normal and they could do nothing about it because they did not know if this was caused by their product. YES it is caused by your product as the scabs and hair falling out is only in the spots that this product was applied. Are you kidding me!!! How about you take responsibility for your product instead of putting this off to another company for a vet bill charge that should be on your company! Your product and your customer service has set a bad name for myself and all of my friends and family. This is not the only site this will be posted on! Got warm towels and washed their face and then the back of their necks to get as much of the product off that we could. It was horrible for them as they were clearly in pain and suffering. My kids were very upset. What a horrible product. I will be taking the flea shampoo and the remaining product back to the store. My grandma put the flea and tick cream on my cat Mia, she's just over a year old. She put it on around 1, by 3 my cat was acting crazy bouncing all over. I picked her up and ran to my grandmother asking what do I do?! I laid her on the bathroom floor and tried getting her to drink water, she then went into a seizure. (I have a Pomeranian who has epilepsy, so I know how to handle seizures.) I held her while she had a seizure to make sure she didn't hit her head, but I ended up with scratches all down my leg, something she's never done before.

With my dog, when he has a seizure, after he's done, he pukes and moves on, Mia on the other hand had tremors really bad and at this moment I still didn't even know what was causing this, then I seen that something was put on her back, I asked my grandma if she put anything on her and she handed me the box and it was Sergeant's flea and tick. I called Animal Poison Control and told them. They said it was definitely caused by that and that I needed to get her to a Emergency Vet ASAP cause she will not make it if I don't. We had to drive an hour away at 4 am and take this poor baby in to the Vet. To make it worse, on the way there, as I'm holding her, she goes into another seizure, and got stiff, and stopped breathing for about 5-7 seconds. I almost freaked out then and there but then somehow, some way, she managed to pull herself out of it and start breathing again.

I prayed and prayed the whole way there for this baby of mine. They had to give her muscle relaxers, anti seizure medication, and shaved her whole back. We then had to take her straight from there to our regular vet and had to leave her there for about 8 hours while they administered an IV to her and watched to make sure she didn't have any seizures, luckily, when we came to pick her up, the vet said she hasn't had any more seizures and just had some tremoring and to take her home, put her in a quiet place and let her sleep and offer her some food and water. And on the way home she was already lifting her head up looking out the window and starting to go back to normal.

Ever since she got home she won't leave my side and even sleeps right next to me now, I guess that's her way of saying I love you and thank you. Luckily my baby made it through this. I'm so sorry for anybody who wasn't so lucky. I DO NOT RECOMMEND SERGEANT'S!! They will poison and kill your pets! P.S. I posted a picture below of my baby Mia with her shaved back, this was a few hours after we picked her up and I was petting her and she flipped over and went to sleep like this, she must have been so happy to finally be home. I thank God and the vets for keeping her with me.

I had never used these before, and bought it as a less costly alternative to Frontline Plus. It came in a single-dose tube. Within about 15 minutes of administering the drops, my cat Ditto began sneezing uncontrollably, and having trouble walking. Within about 20 minutes, he had a seizure. We called the 24-hour emergency vet, and they said to bring him in immediately, as they were neurological symptoms.

On the way there, Ditto had another seizure, only this one didn't stop. He seized non-stop the entire trip, about 15 minutes, to the vet. When we got to the vet, and told him we'd used these drops, his face just fell. He said that these drops were a neurotoxin to cats, and batches of it are frequently made too strong. Ditto was still seizing, by the way. The vet said that there was really nothing he could do for my cat. He said that even if he could try to reverse the neurotoxin, Ditto would have lifelong severe neurological issues, and that the only thing that could be done for him was to put him down. This product should be pulled off the market. Completely. Outlawed. My cat suffered horrendously in the last hour or so of his life. It was horrific.

The next dog we tried a complete bath. The only thing that helped was an allergy pill, just a little. The following day, she had lost a huge amount of hair. The skin looked like she had been scalped, bleeding, bumps, then we found more on her - all on her neck and shoulder area where the product had been applied and she had scratched it, spreading it further. After a trip to the vet, for shaving, cleaning out the wounds, antibiotics for infection, steroids to help heal, topical spray... $200.00 later she is getting a little relief.
