First off, I needed some more filters for my aquarium. So, I went to my local Petsmart which I had always loved because everyone was so nice and helpful. This, however, it was a little different. I wanted to get some fish, so I waited in line for a sales associate to get me the fish I liked. She first asked if I was 18, or if my sister was, which no one had ever asked me of this before. Anyway, she asked it in a very rude and grumpy tone. (If I would have been thinking quicker, I would have asked her if she was really working for PETA, but just disguised as a Petsmart worker.) I continued with the grouch, and told her which fish I wanted to get. She continued to be rude and took forever. I then wanted another kind of fish.
Well, this time, I was smart enough to avoid the first lady I had and went to another one, but she was even ruder. She snapped back and pretended to be a know it all, and wouldn't let me get my fish!!! I was very disappointed, but she only hurt her own reputation and the stores sales. Because of these two incidents in one trip, I have decided to only shop at a different Petsmart, and if this kind of attitude persists in the stores, Petsmart will lose my business altogether. So, in the long run, don't go to this Petsmart in Lancaster, PA. Go to That Fish Place or a different Petsmart.

I rescued 2 old sick small dogs who are not very mobile. I like to take them for "walks" in a stroller or in a cart if I go to PetSmart to make their life a little happier. For that I have special pillows. This morning I was met by a person who very persistently and loudly told me to put leashes on my dogs. But they are in the cart! I objected and proceeded to the prescription foods area. The man followed me insisting on the leashes. I asked him to give me a few minutes to pay for the flat with the K/P cans, (this time my dogs were trembling and I myself was shaken by this treatment). I told the man that I was a 30 year PetSmart veteran customer and this was the first time I was treated this way. Yes, he said, I am from another branch. Upon my request I found out that his name is Mike and he is a manager from Escondido branch. Well, Mike, a manager like that makes not only customers unhappy, but the whole store felt different today, and everybody in the store felt embarrassed for you. I wish you good luck.

I went in the Salisbury, NC store on Friday to buy some things for my pet rabbit. I found a sign that said you can buy one bedding item for a small pet and then get another one free. I got 2 of them and took them to the checkout and told the lady at the checkout, but she acted like she did not know anything about it. She said she thought you had to buy 2 and get one free. I told her I would go look at it again and it was buy 1 and get 1 free, but she still did not believe me so she sent an associate back there to look at it with me and the associate even said it was buy 1 and get 1 free.
Well that still was not enough she had to call the manager and I don't think he even knew. I was very upset about this and this has happened before in this store with me. I told them to just keep the bedding and I would go somewhere else. This was impossible. If a sign is put up with a sale you should be able to purchase it. I will never visit this store again. I don't want a call back either I just think they need better management or better communication about the sales... No one should have to be as upset as I was just trying to get an item that was suppose to be on sale.

I've been with the company 6 years and in 6 years I got my first write up just because I was wait 3 days - one I called in for and the other two I wrote down wrong. I am dyslexic. I also think I'm being discriminated against - I'm not being properly trained and I'm told I can go anywhere cause they say I'm not ready but I've been with the company for 6 years and I should be ready for the next level - in their eyes they say I'm not. Not sure who to turn to or where to go but I do feel like I'm being discriminated against because of my learning disability and I'm not being taught properly. How am I supposed to get somewhere in my career if I'm not being trained.

Every time I go to Petsmart, when I am at checkout, I never ever hear thank you. All I ever hear is, "Have a good one." Also when using a debit card, the opportunity to donate money for pets appears on the screen. The cashier always looks to see if you donate. I always donated and the cashier would change her attitude. Although the cashier is happy, I still never heard thank you. I find myself thanking them when they hand me my receipt. After numerous complaints nothing has changed. Now I refuse to donate and make sure not to say thank you. Although I do not want to take it out on the animals, I donate in other ways.
Today I went to Petsmart and as usual I was handed my receipt and did not hear anything. I kept my mouth shut. There was silence. As I was leaving, the cashier said, "Have a good one." I completely ignored her and will continue to do so because since Petsmart has not addressed the problem, then I shop there and do not say a word... I want the cashier to feel as uncomfortable as I feel every time I go there. One last thing. Do not trust Banfield Hospital in Petsmart. They did not cure my cat. I had to spend more money by going back to my regular vet which is far away but worth the drive because my cat was cured. Banfield also insulted me after I complained. The doctor belittled me. Go to a vet you trust. When I see pets going there, my heart sinks.

Although I find it an unpleasant task, I feel that I must bring to your attention a problem that I experienced with one of your Sales Associates, Josh and his manager Mandy ** at your Federal Way, WA Petsmart location. Saturday (June 28, 2014) I attempted to return about 10-15 small dog clothes, leaches, and collars (totaling $150) to the Federal Way, WA Petsmart location. Josh was the representative that greeted me at the time of the return - Saturday (June 28, 2014). I informed Josh that I received these items as gifts from my fiance’s mother and therefore I did not have a receipt for the items. Josh scanned one of my items and stated that he did not see a receipt on file for the items. He then asked if I knew whether or not my fiance’s mother had a Petsmart Reward Card. I informed him that I was certain that she did not have a reward card, due to the fact that she does not have any pets and she only purchased the items because my puppy was considered the new addition to the family because I lost a child last year.
Josh stated that he would call me within 24-48 hours after contacting the Corporate Office to retrieve a receipt for the items. I left the items in Josh’s possession so that he could further research the items for the receipt. Tuesday (July 1, 2014) - After 72 hours I did not receive a call from Josh nor Mandy, so I called the store on Tuesday (July 1, 2014-3 days later). I was told that Josh and Mandy were unavailable to speak with me, and I left a message requesting a returned phone call.
Sunday (July 6, 2014) - I visited the Federal Way, WA Petsmart to check on the status of my return. I spoke with Josh and informed him that I contacted the Corporate Office via email through your website and filed a complaint regarding this matter. I also recognized the No Hassle Return Policy stated on the website which I informed Josh of, which he completely ignored as I stated this information. He proceeded to tell me that my items had been placed in the possession of the Loss Preventions Department for research. I then inquired of why my items were being researched by Loss Prevention. Josh stated that there was such an array of items and an assortment. I informed him that my fiance’s mother purchased these items as any other dog lover would and due to the loss of my child, my puppy was considered as her grandchild. At this point I became frustrated with the matter and asked that Josh return my items to me. Luckily, I had taken a picture of the items (because I sent the pictures to my family back home so that they could also celebrate the coming of the new addition to the family).
After comparing my picture to the items that Josh handed me, I noticed that about 7-10 of the items were missing. He stated that some of the items had been placed back on the shelf. I asked why this was done and he stated that he was uncertain and that perhaps some of the new employees had placed the items back on the shelf. At this point, Josh had implied a false accusation of theft and has in turn committed a crime of theft from the customer, by returning my items to the sales floor. Josh made another accusation that implied that African Americans do not purchase an array of items for their pets by stating that it is hard to believe that you would purchase this many items for your pet. I then blatantly asked him if he stated this because I was Black? I informed him once again that these items were gifts. He made a gesture as if he was uncertain of what he just said and stated “Well no.”
I was clearly treated unfairly due to the color of my skin and labeled as a thief. The staff of the Federal Way, WA Petsmart obviously have an issue with race, which I have noticed that there are NO minority staff members at this location. I have visited this location on numerous occasions to take my puppy to the Banfield Hospital and to purchase her food and various other pet items. I will NO LONGER shop at Petsmart due to this horrific experience from a simple return and will ensure that my family and

Again to start with flew from Philadelphia, PA to Los Angeles, CA. Had booked with PetSmart Hotel for my Dog Fluffy and Cat Whimpy over the phone as we did not have an apartment to stay at. While registering at desk told the associate that my cat got declawed 2 weeks back as we were moving in an apartment. They took her in. On the second day in the evening my husband, myself and my kids went to check on them. The associate went to check in my cat and came back telling me that there is blood all over Whimpy and her cage where they boarded her. I immediately wanted to see Whimpy. I went in and saw that one of her declawed foot started bleeding. I called Whimpy and she came to me, but afraid. My kids started crying when they got to know. The associate at the hotel told us to take her at that moment. We requested if they would call a doctor from Banfield (in the store itself). The manager spoke to the doctor and she said to let her rest and she will take care of her in the morning as her hours for the Banfield Hospital were up (they were closed for the day).
Next day we went to see the doctor. She said they will take care of Whimpy by re-gluing her nails. That made us feel a little better. After they were finished, the doctor called me and said to take Whimpy with us right away. It was not even 24 hours. We were still looking for an apartment. I told them if they could keep her in the PetSmart Hotel, we will pay but they refused. So we told them we will come by 6.30pm to pick her up. Once we reached I spoke to Banfield associate and learned that my Whimpy was kept in her air carrier for the whole day without water and food. They did not even let her out to do her business. The blanket was all spoilt as she peed on it. No politeness or care shown towards my Cat. Very Dissatisfied with their service. Please advise.

I was told that they can do nothing about it, they put on the shelves "WHAT CORPORATE SENDS". What is it going to take to stop this?

We wanted just a shampoo for our two Boston Terriers. We arrived to the so-called "grooming salon" to another pet's feces on the floor and piles of dog hair. Dogs were caged and yelping. Since we only needed bathing and no hair cut, I asked to see the facility and how my dogs would be bathed. They went to the manager and he refused to let us see. I peeked through and saw a Beagle tied up while they were hosing him/her down with a hose. We left immediately. There is a reason why they would not allow us access to see how our dogs would be bathed. Nasty and very unsanitary. This location is on Cobb Parkway in Smyrna.

Well to start off, on 6/21/14 I go into Petsmart to get my Pomeranian that was rescued from going to the pound a grooming. Was told when I called 1st that can just come in, no appt. needed. Was ask what is it needed to get done. I stated groom and bath. Was advised that they were overbooked for the day. Understood! Then I am ask would I like to make a appt. for tomorrow that would be 6/22/14. I said sure earliest you have. Again ask what would I be getting done, advised grooming and bath. Stated she had earliest 10 am. That's fine! Ask me for dogs rabies vaccination. Provided paper work, appt. booked. I as well booked a vet. Appt. for my other pooch.
Long behold, get there and they only have me for a bath appt. and vaccination info not documented. Thank God I had my papers in my car still. I'm told that again they are booked etc etc. The groomer new, that was not good, what happen. She ask every other groomer could they fit in my little Pom for a cut. Everyone said they couldn't, she tried. She ask would I like to speak with a manager. A manager comes out seeming very disgusted early this morning, I'm inconvenience her. Does not greet anything, just what's my name, dogs name and if I have rabies form. All provided. As providing info she is providing such a ill mannered attitude. So I ask her is she ok she says nothing. I advise her was not my error and seems as she is annoyed of the whole situation. She ignored me and goes into what kind of cut I like for my dog. Advised her this is my 1st time ever to get a dog groomed so I advise the norm for a Pom. She says well we do what is ask and we go with that. I say, well help me here from her experience she tells me again well she does not recommend it. REALLY ... Or you just avoiding a grooming regardless.
I ask her that this is my 1st experience and it so far not a good one. She says well I can give him a shape nails, ears etc. I say ok but not complete shave. Again attitude, then I express this is not a way to provide service, speak, treat a customer such way. She says I quote "well you do have to leave him here" need I say more. As I sit here @ 12:50 my Pom is not finished yet. Appt was at 10am and I was there 15 min earlier. And yet I still wait. I checked and was told will be between 1:15 and 2 pm but they will call me. I am very displeased. I spoke with a manager there and expressed the chain of events that took place. She say that she will speak with the individual to correct it but not right now. I feel that I was not provided a apology for the mishap or the rudeness. That should have been done. And yet to no avail. WORST EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE!!! Never again!!!
VETS ARE GREAT, all went well with my other pooch. My poor Pom is barking away after being in this situation going on 3 hours. I really hope this gets to the owner of Petsmart. I feel there were no consequences. There wasn't even a apology.

I have a blind, deaf, puppy mill rescue, elderly shih tzu. I took her to PetSmart grooming in Arden, NC, and explained that she is blind and deaf, to please be aware she is frightened. Within 5 min of my leaving her there, I received a call from Jamie, the groomer. She said she was redlining her as "vicious", and they are "redlining" her. Oh, please. This dog has maybe 2 teeth. She had a horrible life. She is sweet, quiet, just likes to be held. I have small children who hold her. She has never shown any aggression. When I picked her up, I found her body had already been shaved. This had to have occurred within 5 minutes. This dog had no preparation. I believe she was put on the table and the whole thing was hurried. She was frightened and resisted when it got to her feet and face and Jamie had no patience. She was returned to me with fur hanging off of her, she was a mess, she was shaking, she was traumatized. I told them I am "redlining" PetSmart as just idiots. Never will I go there again. They have no compassion, it seems to be an assembly line. I did not get charged and if I had I would not have paid.
Now, do I think they care about my complaint? No, I don't. I doubt this will matter. But in my profession, I do get around, and word of mouth is a powerful thing. So perhaps they need to begin caring. I have found a wonderful groomer, one who cares for rescues and for handicapped animals. If anyone reads these reviews, I sincerely hope you will look further before taking your animal to these people. Jamie showed no emotion, clearly did not care at all. As a result, I will no longer even shop at PetSmart. I will go elsewhere. And I have more than one rescue. I don't think they will care, but I sincerely hope they read this. I sincerely hope they do care and they will follow up. We take our animals to these people in good faith. It matters to us that they are treated with respect. I also intend to make a complaint in person. I really am hopeful of some kind of customer service. I also use the vet service there. Until I receive some kind of apology, I'm no longer using them. I hesitate to use any service that is provided by PetSmart until there is some kind of resolution.

I called to make an appointment for my 3 yr old female Sheltie. She was groomed at PetSmart in Feb. 2014. The cost of the grooming was $44.00. She was bathed in oatmeal bath, nails ground, teeth brushed, and hair shaved on her feet and what I call her lady parts (a sanie cut). I took her in today for the same thing and the groomer (not the one I had previously) was busy and asked another woman to check my dog in. She approached my Sophie in the correct manner talking to her and holding her hand, palm down, for Sophie to smell. But this woman wasn't friendly and I didn't like her demeanor. She didn't speak to me or the other customer who had just walked in and she didn't seem to appreciate my very well behaved dog and that concerned me.
By this time my gut was telling me that this didn't feel right. Then she ran her hands through Sophie's hair feeling for mats and knots in her hair. She went to the register, basically expressionless, and asked me what kind of grooming I wanted. I told her the same as last time, oatmeal bath, nails ground and hair on her feet shaved and the sanie shave, but she didn't have to brush her teeth because I do that myself and asked her how much that would be. She first said $21 for the basic but because she's matted it'll be more. My dog wasn't matted and I told her my dog wasn't matted. Then she said that she had mats behind her ears. So I felt of my dog and other than one little knot behind her left ear she wasn't matted and then I started to get irritated.
Then the groomer chimed in and asked if I wanted her shaved. I told her NO! Shelties are not suppose to be shaved! All I want is the hair on her feet trimmed like before. Then the groomer said that if she's matted she'll have to shave her. WHAT?? She's not matted. Then the lady checking us in said "she's not that bad". So by this time I was really getting irritated and asked how much the grooming would be today. She told me that today it would be $66. I told her never mind and left. This is the first bad experience I've had with PetSmart grooming. I have always supported PetSmart - having volunteered with my local humane society, but I will not support the PetSmart in Longview, Texas. They lost a long-time customer today due to the unprofessionalism in the grooming center.

I took my Shih Tzu for facial grooming, particularly around the eyes. I said, "Don't shave her," as she was shaved for the first time 9 weeks ago and was traumatized. She wouldn't go outside, leave the driveway for walks, etc. It was so bad I returned to PetSmart to ask if something had happened, as my pet was acting strangely. The groomer said it would pass. She said it's common for Shih Tzus to be embarrassed and humiliated after a shaving! What? Well, I didn't want her shaved last time but took it in stride. So today, I made sure and said, "Don't shave her!" You guessed it. I pick her up shaved again. I was stunned, as clearly I would never subject my pet to something that humiliates and traumatizes her and I clearly stated I wanted her shaped up around the face and her eye area needed to be trimmed (I'm not comfortable trimming that close to her eyes). We bathe and groom our Shih Tzu weekly.
We also took the 12 week puppy Shih Tzu with her today for a puppy cut. Now the puppy is biting my alpha dog, who no longer has any protection, during their play bites. And She is so mad at me because she counts on me to protect and care for her and I put her in a horrible position. I think it's moronic of PetSmart to go against owners' requests and claim she was matted... As a Shih Tzu owner, I can swear she was not matted. They just did what they wanted to. My concern is for my pet, who again is miserable, embarrassed, humiliated and in clear disadvantage in the hierarchy in the household. It was cruel of PetSmart to harm her, especially since I requested they not harm her. It was sadistic, I walked out.

Dog nail grinding at Owings Mills, MD store for 3 yrs. Few mos. ago I started getting my dog bathed and nails ground. First time I just walked in as usual. Bill was under $40. Second time I walked in and they said busy, come back in 1 hr. Did so and satisfied. 3rd time - walked in as usual. They took my dog & I shopped in store, as usual while I waited for her to be done. 30 minutes later I was told my dog would not be done for another hr. I was then told that in order for your dog to be taken right away was to have an express appointment. Never told this before. Never told there was an extra charge. I was upset because I knew that my rescue dog was sitting in a cage waiting for her turn. Because she was rescued and had a bad life before I got her, I pamper her and I knew she was upset in a crate for that length of time.
When I expressed my displeasure and concern for my dog being upset, I was then told in future I should call ahead and request an express appt. so my dog would be taken immediately at the appt. time. That is what I did yesterday 6/2/14 @ a 3:00 appt. Before they took Maggie they asked what she was there for - my reply was a bath with shampoo for dry skin and her nails ground. This is exactly what I had done on the previous appts when I had her bathed. They gave me the slip with no prices to take to cashier. When cashier rang up it came to almost $60. When I questioned the amount the cashier told me to go back to salon and get itemized bill or have this bill corrected if it was an error.
Groomer named ** was mad. She said I asked for nail grinding pkg which included teeth brush and special shampoo. Not true. All I asked for was the usual nail grinding after a shampoo. I said she had dry skin so the groomer said she would give her oatmeal shampoo. She did not say the oatmeal shampoo changed the nail grinding to a nail grinding pkg. of $21 instead of the usual $9. She told me she had explained all this to me the last time I was there. Not true. The only thing she had told me about was making an express appointment in future so Maggie would be done at the appointed time. She never said anything about a charge of $11 for Express appt. She was very nasty as she spoke to me. She kept repeating she had told me all this last time.
I said I think you might have me confused with someone else, because you never told me about $11 express charge or nail grinding pkg for $21. She started yelling at me that she had told me last time. Then she told me that Maggie could not come there again and she was entering it in the record book. I told her I could not believe she had said that and would banish my dog from PetSmart Grooming Salon because she thought she had told me prices on previous appt. She got nastier and then said I could bring her again but I had to tell her then what I would have done to my dog. I said I will only bring her for nail grinding as I do not like the way things are handled here. I will wash her myself at home because I refuse to have my dog kenneled for an hr or more waiting for her turn and I refuse to pay $11 for the Express appt. She decided to allow my dog to have future appts, but only for nail grinding.
I am appalled at the way I was treated after being a monthly customer for over 3 yrs. What kind of employee yells at a customer and can decide whether or not the dog can be serviced at the salon??? I believe ** needs someone to talk to her about her attitude. As for me, I will never come back to any PetSmart store for grooming and I will never buy anything in your stores or online. I believe you need a price list in your salons, so people can see what you charge for which service. I told my 3 friends who use your service & shop, and they joined with me in never coming using PetSmart again. They do not want to use a service that would hire a person who was so rude to a customer and threatened to banish her pet from the salon.

Petsmart needs to realize there are so many supply stores with nicer people and actual animal lovers. Wise up, Petsmart.

I went to PetSmart in Texas and bought my daughter a hamster. This particular hamster was the most docile hamster I have ever seen. I thought it kind of strange that he wouldn't run, jump, or try to bite. He basically sat in her hands and sniffed around. My daughter and her twin sister are 6. For a week or so they spent a lot of time holding the hamster. I then started giving them a 10-minute time limit a day. After a week or so, the shiny kind of wore off, so I put the hamster in our garage because they tend to be messy.
Now fast forward about 3 weeks, my children have come down with an unidentifiable virus - they will run an extremely high fever, 103.6 was the highest so far, body aches, tummy aches, headaches with eye discomfort. We had them at the doctor at least 10 times, the ER several times, blood work, urine work, cat scans, x-rays, flu tests, strep tests and all came back neg. They would seem to get better and I would send them back to school and two or so days later, I'd get a call from the school that their fever was back and high. We have been extremely frustrated. Trying to figure out what is going on.
I was in the garage one night and I was looking at the hamster and started thinking about the time frame of the illness comparing to when we bought the hamster. I called PetSmart because their disclaimer states their animals are inspected. I was told they monitor the small animals. If they don't look sick, they are put out to sell. Well guess what, my kids "don't LOOK sick" but they are. I spoke with the in store vet who referred me to a vet who works on rodents. I am now taking the kids to get a blood culture done to see if they've been infected with a virus from the hamster. There are several that hamsters carry. MY QUESTION IS, IS THERE ANYONE ELSE WHO HAS HAD OR KNOWS OF ANYTHING LIKE THIS HAPPENING FROM A PETSMART OR ANY OTHER STORE?

Just an informational side note, male bettas must be kept apart. Male Bettas will fight to the death if in the same jar/bowl/tank. They are very very territorial with each other. My family growing up used to each own our own bettas. They're very beautiful and if you want them to remain that way, you don't keep them in the same tank, unless you have a divider for each betta. They're kept in small containers because they need to remain close to the surface to breathe air, due to the fish being anabantoids, which means they can breathe atmospheric air using a unique organ called the labyrinth.
NOT SURE what other problems with other animals they may have there, but as for bettas, they are fine in small containers before they are brought into homes, in which they can be put into their own much larger jars/bowls with a cover/top, because they will jump out of their containers and eventually kill themselves. They can breathe on land for a short period, but will die if not put back into the water.

This is my dog's eye caused by what the vet says is blunt force trauma. Yesterday afternoon, I brought my 7-month-old German Shepherd Zeus to Petsmart to be groomed. This would be the third or fourth time that he has been there. The only problem they have ever had with him in the past is that he is scared of the dryers. About 45 minutes after I dropped him off, I got a phone call saying that Zeus was being aggressive and that I would need to come pick him up. They wouldn't be able to groom him that day. I assumed they meant he was being aggressive towards other dogs because Zeus is so friendly to people.
When I got there, the woman informed me that he tried to bite a girl and got her leg a little bit but she was fine. She went back to go get Zeus for me. A few minutes went by and a girl comes out crying with her hand bleeding. Zeus - my dog that is constantly around people and children - had bit this girl. She said something about me going out back to get him and before she finishes, another girl comes out with Zeus (he was soaking wet). They pinned him to the ground on his left side and made me put his collar on him. Immediately I noticed how scared Zeus was. His body was shaking and when the girl got off of him, he waited until I told him okay to get up (it took some coaxing). The girl told me that these things happen and that it was part of their job, etc. and asked me to leave with him.
Walked him out of Petsmart and he immediately starting using the bathroom (a big ole number 2). Zeus wasn't himself the whole way home. He was clearly shaken, timid, laid right down in the backseat and wouldn't get up until I got him home. Once inside the house, he was not 100% but clearly much better. As I sit down and love on him to calm him down, I noticed many things. First that Petsmart had managed to trim all of his nails which shouldn't be possible if he was being as aggressive as they said the whole time. Then I noticed his eye. It was swollen red and purple. I informed the police officer who had come to my house due to Petsmart calling animal control. When he called Petsmart today, they said that it must have been from when the girl tried to put his collar on him and he bit her. It could have poked him in the eye.
The vet I took him to today said that it was from blunt force trauma. That he had to have hit his head very hard for that to happen. Now no matter what, Zeus biting that girl was wrong. But I need to know what happened to my dog, what led up to that moment, a dog that has never once shown aggression towards a person felt as if he had to protect himself by biting. The vet even wrote him a letter of character today - given to me along with his 10 days' worth of medicine for his very swollen eye.

My fiance and I were in Petsmart shopping for things for our baby normal ball python. She needed a new hide and a new water bowl as she had out grown her other's. As always we were checking out the reptile section and were debating on getting a leopard gecko because we're always wanted one. We decided to pick one up. We bought all the supplies and brought him out to the car. The lady that was in the reptile section decided we weren't allowed to pick them up or even touch them. When we got him out the car I was studying him through the plastic container they put him in and he looked as if he couldn't breath. I took the lid off to see if he was alive and he didn't move. I touched him gently and he freaked out! He bit me! We promptly took him back into the store and decided that we wanted to see the corn snakes or the Albino Garter snake they had there.
The lady that was helping us before had twice the attitude she did before this. We told her that we wanted to look at the corn snakes and the albino and this witch had the balls to tell me that I wouldn't be able to handle the corn snake nor the garter. I could NOT believe her. I've been taking care of my ball perfectly fine. If I couldn't handle a ball I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be looking for another snake. Needless to say I will NEVER shop at that store ever again. The manager was rude, and the co-manager had bug up her **. None of them wanted to touch the snakes and none of them knew anything about them at all! Very unprofessional and extremely rude.

Petsmart does terrible and unfair (unfair to both humans and animals) things. The goldfish are in WAY overly crowded tanks, the bettas are sold in tiny cups with no comfort or friendship, and out of the 14 fish I have gotten there, about 5 of them died within the first few weeks! Many of the items sold for fish and other pets are completely unsafe; I have seen bird cages that are WAY, WAY too small, not to mention awful brands of mouse food and toys. The divider I got for my 10 gallon fish tank collapsed the day I brought it home; it could have easily caused my betta fish to kill each other if I wasn't cycling the tank first. The VERY MINIMUM tank for betta fish is one gallon; they sell tanks that are only one quart and say they are absolutely fine.
Which is true; the suppliers of Petsmart literally treat the animals like trash; we read that they are in crowded, dirty cages with little food and water, and that they get shipped in tiny, cramped boxes where they can hardly breath and move around.
Also, the employes are non-educated and a lot of them know hardly anything about animals. If you haven't noticed, I think Petsmart is just a selfish, money making chain store with no regard for animal's well-being whatsoever. I am, however very grateful to them for one thing: my beloved betta fish Moonlight, for all that he taught me in the years I had him.

They hired other blacks but they all quit because they was mistreated. When it came to review time they always gave me low mark so I couldn't get a raised. I did everything they ask me. They wanted me on register at all times and do cart. I did. They wanted there's friends on the floor for customer service so they can have them in the office not doing nothing. I took my Saint Bernard there for the first time. Figuring I go there for some other things, so I would give the grooming department a try. This was hands down the WORST decision I have made. The customer service at this store is already horrible, but the grooming department is deplorable! 2 women gave me attitude as soon as I walked in, running their mouths loudly to each other saying I was late. I was 10 minutes early than the time I requested, so no, I was not late. Secondly the woman, excuse me, the girl in the back with the red and black hair with the disgusting 2 lower lip piercings was a total **! She wasn't even the person grooming my dog, yet was glaring at me and rolling her eyes. (This was also the idiot saying I was late, along with the older woman with the leather looking skin at the station in front of her).
There was also a woman walking out with a Saint Bernard and as the dog approached me while walking out, I carefully held out my hand, the dog licked me and then I pet it. Then the black lady rudely said "I highly recommend against that!" First of all not only have I had Saint Bernard for the past 10 years, but I was also bringing my own in!!!! Needless to say, I went back to get my dog, more than 3 hours later!! And she was still damp, she was clean..sorta.. Her hair had dandruff around the ears from not properly being washed, her tail looked worse than it did when she went in! Her ears inside were not cleaned properly and the trim job was a total hack job! They completely missed spots around her paws and the nails were trimmed horribly!! She was NOT brushed out and was shedding more than she was when she went in from the retards NOT brushing out her under coat!!!
Do yourself a favor and have a REAL grooming department take care of your dog! I worked at poundland and would recommend there long before EVER recommending anyone take their pet to this lousy hack job of a groomer! You have a better chance of your dog turning out clean with a hose and bucket!! And it won't leave your dog traumatized and skittish! This place is horrible to animals and needs shut down or to have REAL groomers that work there! Ignorant! Rude! Dirty! The "customer service" of this place is a crock! And the woman with the gross piercings needs fired! Her rude glares make people want to walk out as soon as they walk in! If I could give this place less than 1 star or even negative, I would! It would be more appropriate as this place clearly deserves -5 easily!!!!

Went to the PetSmart on Katy freeway Houston, TX today. My mom was looking forward to getting a guinea pig. She picked the one she wanted but when the associate didn't approve of the cage we would be keeping it in until we ordered a new one online (we do not have access to a vehicle so carrying a huge boxed cage a mile home was not an option), they would not sell the guinea pig to us. Mom is very upset (she suffers from depression and her pets cheer her up). She has had guinea pigs in the past with no problems purchasing them without buying all the stuff from the same store. She is a regular customer almost every week buying pet foods but will no longer be shopping at this store. She is very upset right now. There was no reason for the business to refuse her business because she refused to buy all the supplies from them.

My Yorkie was rushed to the Pet Hospital on premises and was examined by doctor and after this terrible, terrible attack, we took her to our Vet to treat her injuries.
PetSmart policy to allow a large Rottweiler to walk through grooming room as a small Yorkie is being groomed and attendant could not restrain from jumping up on table and viciously attacking my little dog should never have happened. I thought I left my dog in the hands of PetSmart to groom her in a safe environment when I signed her in, but instead she went through a very terrible experience. Took My two dogs: Yorkie and Shih Tzu in for grooming 03/22/2014. 2 visits prior the Yorkie had come home with a welt on her back which swelled to about 4 inches into a perfectly formed disk and then after a few days it subsided so we had let that go because we couldn't prove anything, but this time with the Shih Tzu when we got her back after they called to tell us they were ready, she is shaking so bad and refuses to come out of her blanket. She eats some, but mostly she just acts like she has been through something so traumatic. She used to be so excited to go to the groomers as soon as I said, "Let's go get a haircut", and now I'm afraid of exactly what could have happened to her.
Their in-house Vet is going to give an exam this evening when I get home from work but I just don't know what it could be going from such a cute pretty little girl to one that just peeps at me through her flannel blanket and will cry out if you try and pick her up. I will update more when I get back from Vet. Of course I asked our groomer "Shannon" the manager exactly what could it be and I did catch her in one lie because she said, "She is always excellent with Grooming; she just stands there", but I know that isn't true because every other time we know grinding of her nails requires some time because she cannot STAND you near her feet and even at the vet's office she shot anal gland across the room because they were trying to clip her nails.
So I know that was ONE LIE. Of course I'm not so naive to believe she would have told me straight out, "Oh yeah, I had to beat the crap out of her or hold her in a vice grip to get her done"... Anyway We shall see.. I just want her to be okay... The grooming itself looks beautiful as you'll see on the pix attached from prior visits. This visit in particular we got them both shaved..

I feel so bad for people here that have had bad experiences but I want them to understand that each store is different. The groomers at the store I go to have all been involved in rescue and truly love and care about each pet that comes in. They cater to the nervous and old dogs and take all the time needed to make the grooming a positive experience. They will do the exact haircut you request and if they can't they will tell you right up front and then take the time to tell you how to take care of the dog's coat so next time it can stay longer. They even take you out on the floor and show you the tools you need! I am always greeted, along with my dog, by name when I enter the store and they are all cheerful and helpful. I took my 9-month-old Toy Poodle to get groomed at the Nashua, NH PetSmart on DW Highway. I brought in 2 photos of the cut that I was looking for. I told them I would like a puppy cut/teddy bear cut and did NOT want him to look like a show poodle. I then showed a picture of what I did NOT want him to look like. I said, "See how this one's face is shaved down? I don't want that. I want his face fluffy like it is now." His hair was very long to start, and I told them if they needed to make the hair on his back a little shorter than I wanted, it was okay but to try and leave enough to keep him warm for winter and please, please not cut his face.
I was asked to sign saying it was okay to spot shave him because he had a few mats. I signed and reminded them, just on the body I did NOT want his face shaved. I repeated several times, under no circumstances did I want his face changed. I did not want a poodle cut and nothing was to be fluffed out like we see on show poodles. I wanted him to be kept as close to what he looked like when I brought him in, only shorter like a puppy cut. If that was not possible, the groomer should have said so, but she said No problem.
I called midway through to see how he was doing. The woman on the phone told me he was great and I would be called when he was done. When I went to pick him up, I was presented with an unrecognizable poodle puppy, very short hair, fluffed out tail, fluffed out ears, traditional looking poodle poof on his head, and to further the shock, an almost completely shaved face. When I told them this was exactly what I did not want, I was given the brush off and told, "Well, it'll grow back." She said she had to shave it because we must have given him something sticky and he had blue and green gum stuff stuck in his face.
When I dropped off my dog there was nothing on his face. His face was not matted at all and the woman who took him from me had looked him over and told the groomer he just had a few spots on his back. I am now worried he got a hold of something while he was there. This is unacceptable. They charged me $66.00 to groom my puppy and did everything the exact opposite of what I had asked. When I called later to talk to the manager, I was told there was not one available. I called again and was put on hold and disconnected twice.

I just came back from taking my dog to the Petsmart Grooming Salon near where I live and I am still upset and shaking from the experience. It was supposed to be an uneventful nail clipping - that is the only thing I allow them to do with her there as she was traumatized somehow by the groomers at a different location. She came back terrified to have a bath after her experience at the other location and it is still a work in progress to undo the emotional trauma they caused her - 4 years later!! She had never minded having a bath before that.
During this current visit, I dropped off my dog and began wandering around the store waiting for her to be finished and was heading to the back of the store slowly looking at different things along the way (I should mention I was less than halfway to the back of the store at this point). The next thing I knew, 2 of the girls from the grooming salon were running through the store chasing after a dog that got loose, yelling "Blue! Close the doors!". Lo and behold, the dog that was running around the store and came to a stop at my feet was MY DOG!!! The "groomer" cutting her nails had lost control of my 16-lb dog!!
I quickly picked up my dog and walked back to the salon. I spoke with the manager and the "groomer" asking how it happened and the "groomer" said that she saw me down the aisle and was walking my dog to me when she got loose. They tried to explain to me that they use a double leash approach to keep control of the dogs but when my dog came to my feet, the blue harness they use was NOT around my dog's neck. I asked them if they are so confident in this approach, how did my dog get loose?? They couldn't answer that for me.
The "groomer", when asked by her manager how far she had gone and if she actually left the grooming area, tried to say that she saw me, had only taken a few steps and then my dog broke loose. I did NOT give her permission to leave the grooming salon with my dog. I asked them why I was not paged when she was done as I had been for the past 5 years, they couldn't answer that either. My dog could have run outside into the parking lot and got hit by a car!! They did NOT apologize but didn't charge me for the nail cutting (the least they could do) and said they would contact me if there was to be any follow-up.
Needless to say, I have had my fill of Petsmart and will never return again, even for supplies. I don't know how they are allowed to have inexperienced staff taking care of our beloved pets. After reading many of the reviews on here, I am thankful that my experience wasn't as bad (I am really truly sorry to hear about them and I hope your pets are okay now) and it should not have happened in the first place. A former co-worker of mine, who had worked at the PetsHotel, warned me never to take my dog there for daycare or to stay overnight. He told me that the dogs are pretty much always left unattended and not monitored as thoroughly as they promise. I walked by the 'daycare' center once and the dogs were pacing, looking so sad to be there. They were not having fun and there was no one in there watching them. I have written a letter to Petsmart as well regarding this incident. I am curious to know what they have to say for themselves.

I then went back to PetSmart to inform them of the incident. They asked me to bring Trixi in to be evaluated by Banfield Vet on site. I rushed home, got the dog and took her back. The Banfield Vet agreed that there was trauma. I was then told to bring her back in a week for a follow-up visit. I did as requested. Trixi's bloody eyes cleared up over the course of 3 weeks.

I am writing with both a heavy and angry heart to express my frustrations regarding a serious incident that occurred at the PetSmart #287 Buckhead location in Atlanta Georgia. The first frustration is actually with me in not trusting my first instinct as it concerns your establishment. Why? Because when my 11.3 pound dog Silver was hurt in the same location's grooming department about 5 months ago which required emergency surgery the following day, that was a clear indication for me to take my business elsewhere as it concerns the well being of my beloved Silver because clearly PetSmart couldn't be trusted.
On Sunday, December 15th, I dropped off Silver to the Doggy Day Care located at the Buckhead PetHotel so he could socialize and have play time with the other dogs because he's alone most days while I'm at work and I thought this would ease my feelings of guilt during the weekend when I need to run errands or just want to have a little alone time for myself which was the case at this particular time. This turned out to be the biggest mistake I could make, particularly at this location. My Silver was attacked by another dog, sustaining injuries severe enough requiring yet another surgery, all while supposedly he's under the watchful eye of your trained Pet Care Specialists, who supervise all camp activities.
Yeah, right. It would be an understatement to describe how angry, hurt and traumatized I am for subjecting Silver through yet another horrific ordeal at the same establishment. It goes without saying that my once jovial, energetic loving ball of love is now a depressed, lethargic, confused, dog that is in obvious pain. Not only does Silver have to endure wearing a cone around his head and be subjected to taking pain medication and antibiotics for the next seven days but he's even skittish and fearful of me, the one who has raised him since he was 6 weeks old and loves that dog more than words could fully describe!
Despite the fact the owner's dog that attacked Silver paid for the medical expenses, I am far from being satisfied with the resolution of this unfortunate incident. I'm further inconvenienced by this ordeal because I've got to take the time out of my day next Sunday, and rush from Church to ensure Silver gets to his follow up appointment and subsequent treatment; not to mention the added gas expense or my time that I value greatly. I can't even imagine how much anxiety Silver is going to feel once we enter that PetSmart location to get to Banfield Vet; I'm tearing up over the mere thought.
Up until this point, I have been loyal customer of PetSmart. In fact, just a few weeks ago, I invited a close friend of mine to bring her two dogs along to the Doggie Day Care to join Silver on a play date. Thankfully nothing happened at that time but after the series of events that proved to be the detriment of Silver; this loyalty has been forever severed. I am gravely concerned with the competency and commitment of your staff in both the Doggie Day Care as well as the Grooming department. Keep in mind; this is the 2nd incidence where the end result caused Silver to have to undergo surgery at the same location. That's just totally unacceptable.
I happen to work for a large Law firm in the Atlanta area with 19 office locations worldwide who happens to be very animal friendly. I also reside in a neighborhood which is very doggie friendly as well. Like me, the majority of the residents own a dog that they care about and put a great deal of time and money investing into caring for their pets, many of which patronize PetSmart. Believe me when I say I will not rest until I inform all of my associates, co-workers and neighbors alike of all the trauma and negligence that both Silver and I have experienced at that PetSmart location in particular. In addition, I will be sure to make all of my Facebook friends and Twitter page are informed of my disappointing service received as well.

I am really sorry that this happened to your dog BUT it is honestly not the responsibility of PetSmart. It was in fact the dogs' owner that was in the wrong. The dog should have been PROPERLY under their control. If the dog was dropped off and was left in fill care and control of PetSmart then and only then would they be liable for injuries. I understand the frustration but just because those people adopted the dog from PetSmart does not automatically make them liable. What the store "knew" is complete hearsay unless you have a witness but that is beside the point. The owner of the dog (while present and in "control") is responsible for their dog, not the store. Look at it this way... if you took your own dog out for a walk, let him/her off the leash and someone was attacked by YOUR dog, who is responsible? You or the person that was minding their own business and was attacked? Negligence is what happened here... that is not the store's fault.

On Saturday, December 7th, we took our Black Lab to Pet Smart Grooming Department in Columbia, Maryland for her nails to be clipped. We have been there many times before without problems. We checked in noticing how busy they were. The young lady took our dog in the back, as the door opened I could hear a loud fan. I then sat on the bench. Within less than one minute a woman came rushing out grabbing a box, it looked like a first aid box, she ran back. I had a sick feeling in my stomach something happened to our dog. I got to my feet and she came out with our dog running ahead of her. I kept asking "What happened, whats wrong..." She said "Is this your dog?" I said yes, she was very shaken, and she said another dog got loose and attacked her. She said we need to let the Vet at Banfield look at her.
There is a Banfield Vet Hospital on site right next to the grooming area, and we took her there. Our dog had a huge bite, so long and deep that they were going to have to put her under to sew the wound . We had to leave her there all day because of the Anesthesia. The wound was on her back. She was attacked as she was led in to the grooming area. While yes Pet Smart is taking responsibility for the Vet bills, I feel something needs to be done so this never happens again. No one should take their "family member" to have something so simple as a pedicure done, and have the result we did. We still have to take her back for stitch removal. We understand that Banfield is not affiliated with Pet Smart.

Two weeks ago, I took my puppy to the grooming salon at Petsmart Bridgewater. The only reason I went there is because we had an appointment at the Bansfield hospital there. My dog goes to Petsmart in North Brunswick and we have no issues. I got a call less than 10mins later to return to the salon. When I got there, I was given my pet back with poop all over her and she was practically screaming. The explanation is that she was having a panic attack (go figure). To top it off, instead of carrying her, she was dragged over to me on a leash. I was so darn upset that I yanked the leash, picked up my dog and threw the leash on the floor. I took her out to my car trying to calm her down since she was shaking and howling.
When she was a little calmer, I left her with my daughter and went back into the store for my refund since I had prepaid. The cashier gave me cash back since I paid by debit card. I took the receipt and stick it in my pocket and rushed out of the store to my 11-year daughter and a still shaking dog covered in dog poop and did not count the money I was given. While driving home, I gave my daughter the money to count and realized that it was short by $3.00. Since I was half way home and the shortage was not much, I waited to call the store when I got home (30mins). I explained to the agent what happened and she advised me to come in with the receipt and I would be refunded. For only $3.00 I decided to wait till the next week because I had another vet appointment and this made more sense. Well, first the clerk who did the refund approached me, practically called me a liar in so many words. Her manager then asked her not to argue the point with me and told me that he would take care of me.
Still being calm and reasonable, I told the agent if this will cause her any trouble, I will leave it alone. Her response was "no, am not in trouble" with an attitude. My daughter was outside with the dog waiting for almost 15mins so I was about to leave when the "manager" called me back. He began by giving me a speech and I tried to explain to him why I did count my change and why I didn't return to the store the same time but his tone of voice was so embarrassing that I ask to forget about the refund and to return my receipt. He refused to return the receipt still trying to lecture me, a 46-year old mother of 2 college graduate sons. Instead of arguing, I walked out on him leaving the receipt. You can bet I will let all my friends and co-workers know about this and will never visit them again.

I signed up my dog for basic training classes just because the trainer was telling me all of the positive things about it & that upon completion she could also get her a Therapy dog certification. Week 1 was okay, kind of rushed & chaotic but I decided to continue. When I arrived for the 2nd week class, I walked in the training rink with my dog on her leash & there was another dog in there with 2 women & the trainer... My dog was eager to meet, as was the other dog; however the other dog was more than twice the size of my dog and really appeared to be trying excessively to get at my dog. The other dog was improperly harnessed (which I found out after the fact) & it got away from the 2 people that were struggling to hold it back. The dog severely attacked my dog resulting in multiple injuries requiring surgery, stitches & a drain having to be put in my dog's ear & a quite costly vet bill.
Petsmart took no responsibility whatsoever in this situation & the vet that is inside the store told me at first that the other dog's owner would be responsible for bill, then later told me that they were not affiliated with Petsmart & that I would have to take the other owner to small claims court to recoup my damages. This seems ridiculous to me that my dog was not in the wrong & yet all financial responsibility was solely on me. The owners of the other dog, 2yr old male, had adopted him less than 30 days prior. In addition the Petsmart trainer told me that she was aware the other dog had people aggression problems.

Today we learned that PetSmart has a company policy which forbids their stores from selling certain animals as feeder animals for other animals. They DO however approve the sale of animals that require other animals as food!!! Example: the store I was in today had two pythons for sale on display but would NOT sell mice as feeders for those snakes. The employee said they sold "frozen dead mice" instead. Professional herpetologists agree that in many circumstances, freshly euthanized prey is necessary to save the lives of many reptiles that go off their food. Others feel it is impossible to determine the health and quality of a rodent being fed to an expensive reptile if it is previously killed and frozen.
So it doesn't matter that the mice are euthanized to feed the snakes, it only matters that their staff and employees aren't the ones doing so. They do however sell feeder fish and feeder insects even though they also sell pet fish and pet insects. The staff did not know what parameters were used when placing a quality of life on animals that the company was willing to euthanize as food for other animals. In short, the company should be in or out on ALL animals they sell so that the needs of those animals are met under any and all circumstances! Their current policy is hypocritical and unhealthy for the animals involved!

Good on PS for refusing to sell some of you fish. First gold fish are not tropicals and combining goldfish and tropicals often does not work because goldfish can tolerate colder waters. Second of all, you CANNOT keep goldfish or Plecos in a 10 gallon tank! Goldfish get up to a FOOT long. They are not bowl/tiny tank fish. No matter what TV and commercials would have you think. They use goldfish because they are so easy to recognize. And yes, you HAVE to have a fish tank set up and running for a few days before you put anything in it. Tanks are NOT and shouldn't be a spur of the moment thing. They are tiny ecosystems that need to be balanced for the well-being of the fish, who unlike dogs and cats cannot run away if their needs aren't being met.

We took our pomeranians to the Petsmart in Webster back in February of this year (2013). While there, we encountered a lady waiting at the Banfield Hospital for her dog to be seen. He was a large dog and he was coughing so we didn't go near him. About a week later, our one dog started coughing very harshly. We took him to the emergency room later that night. They prescribed meds and told us it sounded like kennel cough and that his brother would probably end up with it too since it is highly contagious. His brother did develop it a few days later. We are now into September (almost 6 months later) and they still have a cough when they get excited or are barking. They have been on several antibiotics, cough pills, codeine pills and now bronchodilator pills.
We called Petsmart to ask if any dogs had been treated for kennel cough around that time and we were told no. I distinctly remember the dog we encountered and how he was coughing and I heard his owner tell him "you will be better soon". My husband has been out of work for a year and we are on limited income and I have spent well over $1,000.00 so far for all of the treatments. I have the vet coming this weekend for their annual check and that will be over $300.00 not to mention that he will probably have to give us more medication since they are still coughing. I really think that Petsmart should reconsider having you walk through the entire store with a sick animal to the Banfield Animal Hospital. They should make a separate entrance so that owners like us can take our pets without worrying if they will end up sick.
I no longer take my dogs with us to Petsmart and they use to enjoy the outing. It was their chance to socialize. I also think that Petsmart should come clean if they indeed treated a dog for kennel cough at that time. Considering we do not board or kennel our dogs and they only socialize with a few neighborhood dogs there is no real explanation of how they contracted this other than the dog I remember from our outing to Petsmart. I do make sure that my friends and family are aware of what happened and where it happened because I do not want anyone to go through what we are STILL going through.

As President of a MN rescue group, we earned every kennel in the adoption center by hosting adoption days every weekend and had to earn every kennel in the adoption center. A new Mgr. took over and the mass exodus of employees commenced. We did not know why this happened and today we found out he is a nut case. He is obsessive compulsive and makes decisions on a whim. We once held this store in high regard as the previous Mgr. was a gem. He was fair, helpful, caring and compassionate. Unlike this new guy who obviously doesn't get what rescue work is all about.
This store is the only store we work out of and did so for the simple reason we felt dedicated to it. This has all changed since we have learned that kennels we earned are being lost to a group that brings in sick animals from other states and leave them in the kennels sick, exposing our healthy animals to whatever disease they carry. This group did not have to earn their kennels as we did so. I guess the rules don't apply to them.
Having 9 yrs with this store makes us question our mission in the world of rescue, especially when you have a narrow minded idiot who has all the control. We will do all we can to let the public know what we have known for yrs. They waste the occurs when animals are literally starving to death by them throwing away intact bags of food, cases of canned food, etc. that could help feed strays. They refuse to help financially through grants where PetCo is the leader in the area of Grants to help pay for medical costs incurred. Buyer beware, GO TO PETCO!!!!!

My Persian kitty, Chewy, would have been 6 on 8/24/13 was fine, alert, eating and drinking, normal before leaving him in a PetSmart for grooming. They told me it would take about 3 hours. I went back in 3 hours to be told he had fleas bad which he did not. His normal vet had just seen him 3 weeks ago and he's been on Revolution. He was an indoor only cat. And that it would be another 1.5 hrs because they couldn't put him under the dryer and they did not have any towels to dry him with. They had used the one that I keep in my carrier.
Due to several concerns, I called my vet while in the store and made an appointment for the next day. I would have taken him straight to her if my baby had been turned over to me when I asked for him. When they said they had no way of drying him means that he sat in a cage wet and dripping and scared, I wanted my cat back at that moment and they refused to give him to me. By the time we got home he could not walk, was drooling and lethargic. After 2 emergency care vets and our personal vet, I had to have him put to sleep. He started having seizures. The last one in my arms while saying goodbye. My vet had seen him since he was 8 weeks old and said that something happened that started him on a downward spiral that finally took his life.

So when Petsmart open I call and ask them was Cody sick and the person said yes. She said she put it in the notes for them to let me know and they did not. In the report they lie, say he ate well. I took him to the vet July 9 and on July 16 and back on July 17. I always leave an emergency number. They could have call someone to pick him up. We picked her up Friday evening and when we got her home, she could hardly have a bowel movement - yelping loudly and finally passed. I called right away back to the Pets Hotel and they asked me to call the Banfield Pet hospital. I hung up and did that and they said they are booked. "You could take her to emergency!!" Emergency?? I just picked my puppy up and she is not healthy. They said I can try giving her some pumpkin out of the can and maybe that will help her get her stool going solid.
We just arrived back from vacation and we expected to pick up Mattie all healthy, ready to come home, and relax and play. Not the case!! I nursed her through Today Sunday, July 7th, 2013. In the morning, I called back to Pets Hotel and the manager was Sarah **. I explained the story again and she stated she would walk over and get Banfield to look at her, and to bring her in. I drove over and waited for 2 hours (yes, 2 hours) because I was considered a walk-in. We finally saw the doctor at 12:00 after arriving at 10AM. He looked at her, did a check and shaved around her back side to uncover sores, redness and lesions. OMG! Really??? The condition of Mattie was not like this when I dropped her off for her hotel stay!
I asked Sarah at the Pet Hotel to pay for the vet visit. She claimed she could not... that Pets Hotel did not cause this. I stated I never once received a phone call about her condition and when I called in about her, nothing was said about her runny stool!! What about preventative care while Mattie was there!!! Sarah stated then that she would pay for the office visit only ($39.95), I had to pay $52.44. I would like changes made at the Pets Hotels to care for the dogs! Grass area to go to the bathroom, etc.

I had made a very poor career choice moving to Columbia, SC (living there for a few months) before moving in with some family members in Tallahassee, FL while I picked up the pieces from this poor choice. Knowing relatively quickly that I would not be staying either in Columbia or Tallahassee, I presumed that it would be good to use a national vet service for continuity of records, especially while my life was in such flux. At this point in time, it seemed that my life was simply a cacophony of errors and my experiences at Banfield did nothing to change my outlook (2007-2009).
I used the Banfield in Columbia one time. When I transitioned to the Banfield in Tallahassee, they could not pull up my dogs' vaccination records as these are not shared between the stores. Okay, my misconception - but this was my thought process in staying with them. Over the next couple of years the only major complaint was that when I tried to get my heartworm medication, they were always out and could only sell one month at a time. When I broke down the cost of that one pill, I was paying for three pills in a pack of 6. What a ripoff! Petmed.com helped resolve that issue.
The last time I took my darlings in to Banfield vet services, the vet informed me that my then 9-year-old Eskie had a grade III unstable ligament, with grade IV being the worst. I should waste no time in getting my dog scheduled for surgery so that the issue didn't get worse. I was stunned. The dog had never limped a day in her life. My thoughts were that I would not put myself under anesthesia for a condition that was causing no symptoms. Why would I put my dog under anesthesia in the same scenario? It is noteworthy that Trixie has still never limped and her current reputable vet has not been able to replicate the problem. In fact, I just had her do a thorough musculoskeletal exam due to concerns of arthritis, muscle weakness, tremors, sequelae of Lyme disease (which she has tested positive for, been treated, but always asymptomatic).
Basically, I've been worried about her health since losing my other dog in September and just want to know what I'm missing. She was not able to note any significant arthritis, muscle weakness and definitely no unstable ligament problems. So the vet was just trying to get my dog set up for an unnecessary and costly surgery. The final straw came as I was leaving Tallahassee. I decided to pay for grooming, which I usually did myself. Both of my dogs require their long hair and are very susceptible to heat stroke if they are shaved. Their breed-specific grooming requirement prohibits shaving. I was assured that all of their groomers are aware of breed requirements in grooming and I should have no concerns.
I took the dogs in first thing in the morning with their vaccination papers from that particular store. I was told that they won't take my dogs because I didn't bring in the vaccination papers. I pointed out that these vaccination papers prove that the vaccinations were done. They then stated that I need to go over to the vet and have them document when the vaccinations are due again. I told them that since this is the same store, if they can't read the paper, they should walk over to the Banfield desk and ask for additional information as I don't understand what they are not seeing on the paperwork. We went back and forth for about fifteen minutes before they decided to go ahead and take my dogs. Seriously, the record is not transferable to other parts of the same store? As a medical records professional, it grated on me that it wasn't a national network of records. This really went against the grain. I'm asking for ease of record transfer for continuity of care, not privacy concerns here.
The final straw was when I went to pick up my darlings. They were both totally unrecognizable. I was told they had to be shaved totally, both of them, due to extensive matting. While it is true that their rears may have had a mat or two, there was not extensive matting and definitely not a need for the entire shaving that happened to a gorgeous Sheltie and a gorgeous Eskie. I had brushed them very thoroughly the night before to ensure that there were very few, if any, mats in their hair. Total laziness on the part of the groomer. We weren't able to spend much time at all outside for an entire summer due to this outrageous service.
I will never waste money on the PetSmart services again. I also had a friend who used the Banfield grooming service. When she went to pick up her dog, she noticed his eye was really red. She asked what had happened and was told that she must have brought the dog in with an eye infection. She took the dog to the vet that evening as the eye kept looking worse and worse. The vet told her the dog had a "scissor shaped laceration" in his eye. Banfield Grooming refused to admit that they had lacerated the dog's eye and refused to pay any medical bills. All PetSmart is interested in is profits.
My latest experience (I do still buy food from either PetSmart or PETCO, but will not purchase additional services), I was in the store preparing for my new puppy (a 1-year-old mill survivor). An associate came over and was trying to assist me. I explained that I was trying to find items that would help me train an extremely frightened and under-socialized puppy. He kept pushing their training program, telling me that I would not be able to socialize the dog without. I kept explaining to him that training doesn't work if the dog doesn't trust its person, and the first step in any training is developing that trust especially in a previously abusive situation.
His response was that the dog needed to be socialized and I wouldn't be able to get there with my approach. I explained to him again that I am not a novice dog owner and mill survivors need time and patience. When she was ready for socialization, we would cover that, but my first priority was having her trust me. I finally had to walk out without any supplies as he would not let me shop, but tried to continue the argument. Train your staff, PetSmart. They really need to learn about animal care.

Most posts are about care for the dogs at the groomers, but not many people realize the care that is needed to keep the reptiles and amphibians alive too. A couple of days ago I was just strolling through #582 PetSmart looking for something new to buy for my snake. I noticed that they finally got in a new lizard that I rarely see at this PetSmart. There was a Yellow Nigerian Uromastyx in the bottom tank freezing. My intentions that night were to also see if they had a pacman frog because that was going to be my next add-on to my reptiles/amphibians. Once I saw this reptile not moving, dead looking and just completely out of its element, I asked for some assistance over near the reptiles. I have a deep love for reptiles and amphibians. I would not let that lizard die there like that.
Once the girl came over, opened up the tanks and got the lizard out for me, I wanted to lash out at them. I asked to hold this lizard and when I did, the entire lizard was frozen. It had to have been so out of its normal hot environment. I felt so bad for the little guy I had to get him. Even as overpriced as he was, I did not care. I wanted to make this animal have a better life, so I did. Even though I helped out the PetSmart company, I know I just helped out a now healthy lizard. So I did some investigating on my own and figured out how clueless they were to the care of a Uromastyx. I asked what they were feeding it and it was crickets.
These species are strictly vegetarians and only are supposed to be eating greens. The extra protein in crickets will cause long term problems in these animals and shut down kidneys. After finding that out, I checked out the tank they were in to find out that the heat in the tank was only at 80. Referring to what I stated earlier, this lizard was freezing. If they knew anything about the care for some of these animals, they would have known that normal basking temperature is at least 120-130. Luckily now I have this reptile in my care and it is soaking up that artificial sun and loving the new warm life.
Luckily for this store, that is my only complaint. So far I have gotten good customer service, but just really disappointed in a pet store that sells animals that doesn't know how to care for some. Like the bases for someone buying a new animal, don't buy it unless you can care for it.

I brought my small dog for a nail grind over the weekend, and I noticed the filthy grooming area with mounds of hair all over the tables and floor. The groomer who said he'd only charged his grinder for 5 minutes, dragged my dog and then whacked his head on the swinging door. When I came back from paying, the groomer had the clippers out and said he couldn't use the grinder because my dog was snapping at him. He yelled at me across the room and said he'd only been working there for two weeks even though when I checked in, I said he was the one who helped us a couple of months ago. I caught him in three lies in a matter of less than two minutes. I said no to the clipper and said to bring my dog to me.
The manager was standing right in front of me as I told the groomer I wouldn't allow him to yell at me nor treat my dog so roughly. The manager had the audacity to be snarky, sarcastic, and rude to me. Then she had no idea how to use the cash register to give me my money back. Shame on you, **! I am not going to let this go. They so clearly do not like the animals, nor respect them for the living creatures they are. I saw one groomer yell at a dog that was tied up on the floor to shut up the barking. None of them knew the dogs' names. Another groomer roughly grabbed a dog's leg and slammed it down on the table. The PetSmart #349 at Turtle Creek needs to be investigated for their conditions and treatment of animals.

My wife and I were in PetSmart #50 on Watt Ave. in Sacramento, CA this evening. At 7:35pm, we observed a PetSmart groomer handling a small black dog very rough! We told another PetSmart employee what we had observed. His response was "the dog was being difficult and that he would speak to her about it”. He did nothing! I asked to speak to the store manager. I told Paulina what we had observed and that I wanted to speak to the main store manager or district manager. I was told that they were both at a meeting in Florida and could not be reached. She told us that she would look at the video. Seems like PetSmart is not very concerned with the well-being of your pet!

We've been going to store 1085 in Largo, FL for grooming and pet needs for 2 years now for our Morkie, Bella. Yesterday I called to set up a morning appointment and discussed with the girl exactly what I wanted it was the package for around $24, bath and a little trim around the face. We go back and forth between that one and the full body trim every two or three weeks. So my wife took her in and told the girl "BTW, she is in heat." The girl asked my wife if she wanted several different services, and she stated "whatever my husband asked for."
Hours later, my wife went to pick up the dog and she was charged $32 plus $6 for conditioning. Now I personally brushed my dog to make sure there were no knots in her fur and she was fine, especially since we just got a full groom just few weeks ago. But even if I had no problem with the $6 up charge for conditioning, I do have a problem with the $32 charge for my services when I clearly spent 10 min. on the phone making sure they know what I wanted. When I called the store, the lady looked in the computer and found my appointment and notes as to $24 package but wasn't sure why it didn't turn out that way and stated she would have the manager call me back.
The manager listened to me then put me on hold for 11 minutes exactly and then argued that I always got this package when I know I don't. I said I was unhappy and wanted a refund, and she said, "Sir, that's not going to happen." Now, they have lost a PetSmart customer. I advise you, don't believe their pet grooming customer always happy or it's free statement right on their website.
I was left with a bad taste in my mouth and not happy that the manager treated us that way and decided to show how I felt with my money, spending it elsewhere. Well, after several months have gone by, I have been able to clearly look back at the situation clearly seeing that we had never seen bad service from the grooming end of it but because a mix-up was handled badly by a manager. That is why I have the bad taste. So I thought I might try patronizing another location as I am between two. Maybe, I would be happy again.
So I placed a call to my next closest store in Tyrone, FL and the lady tells me she is unable to schedule me due to my file. Now the bad taste comes back as I realize the manager in Largo wrote some untrue information or marked our file somehow because she didn't like that I reminded her of the company's policies. I wrote and called corporate office. There was no call back.
I also want to add that thy do not let the dogs go to the bathroom. There is not enough staff to take some outside ever. So hopefully you know this and aren't detained in picking up your pooch. I think there should be a negative star setting for corporate companies like this that don't care about customer service.

I am very disappointed! I use PetSmart for grooming and food purchases and spend a lot of money there. I do not appreciate a bait and switch scheme. I went online to order a potty patch for my elderly dog. I was elated when the listing showed that the 17x27 size was on sale for $5. It listed as in-store only so I printed the page and headed off to my local PetSmart. When I approached the register with the page and product, I was told a manager would have to be consulted. The cashier came back and told me that it was a mis-ad and that the product was on sale for $35.99. The best they could offer was $17.99 for my trouble. This is a classic bait and switch technique. It is illegal, immoral and embarrassing for the store. I have always shopped at PetSmart but will now have to switch to PetCo for my grooming, food and toy purchases. Shame on you, PetSmart.

I signed my puppy up for dog training classes at the PetSmart in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Once you join the class, they give you coupons for services that PetSmart does. I thought it was a great deal to take my puppy to the daycare services that they provide, since I received $10 off. I called to make her a reservation for the next day and they asked what breed of dog she was, I told them a Dalmatian Mix (Dalmatian Mix, as this is exactly what both of her vets confirmed and it is written on all of her paperwork). We showed up today at the PetSmart in Ontario, CA and rudely in front of everyone at PetSmart got told "No, no, no, she is a full pit bull" and that they could leave her in a kennel all day by herself because she is dangerous.
First off, no one told me this man was a vet and that he could judge my puppy from his knowledge of veterinary school. Second, you take my money for your training classes and let her in a room with up to 9 other dogs, but I cannot use your free coupons or any other perks because an ignorant someone in the hotel services decided my dog was a pit bull. Not only was I turned away, but in front of everyone could not get a word in and was told repeatedly I was wrong and to get my pit bull out of the store. Not only will I never shop at PetSmart again, but I am taking her out of their training class and I expect to get some of my money back, or I will take this further. Also, I will make sure to tell friends, online forums, Bull Breed advocates and Bull Breed organizations to never shop at PetSmart again. Because if your dog is a mutt and even looks like it has an ounce of any Bull Breed they are not welcome at PetSmart!

As a member of the media, I am planning on writing a story on the horrifying experiences I had at PetSmart in Monroeville, PA. I have kenneled my dogs at their hotel for the past six years. I have spent thousands of dollars doing so. (Please check for proof.) Never again! My Great Dane, Rodeo, stayed at the hotel for several days this month. When I returned home after picking her up, her anus, left leg, flank and backside were covered with dried fecal matter. Her brand new toy, bought the day she was dropped off, was soaked with urine. A call to the hotel informed me (a) the fecal matter could not have happened and (b) the toy was wet because “Rodeo dropped it in her water!”
I complained to the store’s manager **, who investigated the matter. A hotel associate admitted she noticed the fecal matter and didn't do anything about it. Two days after picking Rodeo up, I had to take her to the vet for “seriously” infected anal glands. A connection? Or, the result of the filth she endured? On July 28, I went into the hotel to pick up Rodeo’s report card that was never given to me and was supposedly saved for me. The unnamed male associate told me that report cards are only given if “there is time” - another lie! (** confirmed this is a lie.) It was not there.
An employee named **, who once was a friend to Rodeo, told me quite rudely that perhaps I “should find another place where Rodeo would be more appreciated.” The implication, as thinly veiled as it was, suggested I was lying about what happened. When I told her that ** had uncovered the truth, she stammered and began to apologize. Too late, I have already filed a complaint with the BBB and the PA Department of Agriculture.
As I told **: I am demanding a full refund of the kennel costs ($tk), a new pet toy ($5), copies of all the paperwork from all the kennel visits my dogs had had during the past six years, the report card and an apology letter from the hotel staff and corporate. Nothing less will suffice. ** told me you will kick this matter back into his lap. Not this time; I will call you daily, beginning tomorrow, until this is resolved. I will post the story Wednesday. ** also knows she will be quoted. I have started a Facebook page about this nightmare. If you think I am kidding, I am not.

I remember the first time I ever went into PetSmart, but times have changed and so have the people. I remember PetSmart being a fun place to be at, looking at the fish and the birds and also watching the dogs train. But the past year, I've had a horrible experience... For starters, the manager, John, is a complete and bumbling moron and the trainer, Audrey, is an idiot when it comes to dog training. I started taking my, at the time, 12- to 13-week-old puppy to the puppy class and each time I showed up, Audrey would brag about how good my dog was acting like she did all the work. All we did at the class was walk around the flipping store and have a dog sit once we stopped. We did this for 8 weeks even though the class is only 6 weeks long. She had me pay more money because she thought my dog was intermediate level stuff. Well, who did all the work? Yeah, I did, then she did the whole taking the credit thing again.
Then one day, she asked me if I could shadow her because she was going to "talk" to the manager about getting me a job there. I already had one lined up for New Braunfels PetSmart, so I skipped my drug test for that one and waited for her to talk to him. I had to call him and ask if I was hired. He said he was still talking to the guy in new Braunfels so I waited another 2 weeks. I finally got tired of waiting and went to the store manager and asked, "**, why haven't you called me?" This was after my interview too. He said that he told the new Braunfels manager and said he was going to take me (the new Braunfels store, not the store I wanted to work at). Having a hunch that he was lying to my face, I called the new Braunfeles store and the manager there said he never received a call! Oh, I was livid! So that was the second strike. The third strike is when they asked me to leave, even though Audrey said for me to shadow her because they said I called a lady ‘fat’! Umm, last time I checked, I called her Husky Chunky! That was the third straw.
After I received the survey for their training class, you could tell I was ** so I wrote a horrid review for them, I called them what they are, lying, cheating uneducated **! People would always come up to me in the store asking if I worked there because I knew a hell of a lot more about dogs, cats, birds, etc. I tell anyone and everyone to go to Petco down on FM 78 because they are better than PetSmart. They actually treat their customers right but after that review I left for them, the store manager "John **" called me and asked if he could give me a free bag of food or another free enrollment with a new trainer (the job I was supposed to get) and I told him no. I wanted nothing to do with PetSmart ever again! Oh and let me not forget, the one class Audrey had on the second to last class, she had us do the same damn routine and I asked her if she could help me with my dog getting a slight case of food aggression and his barking at strangers and she said she would help me. An hour later, I asked one of the associates where she was and they said she left! I was furious! I left and have never been back!

My boyfriend, his brother and I went to PetSmart earlier today to buy a bulb for our dragons. We continued to look around the store browsing. After about twenty minutes or so, we cashed out. As we were leaving, one of the three managers on gave us dirty looks. As we got to the car, the same manager came out of the store on a cell phone. She then walked past the car, reading out our license plate number to whom she was on the phone with (the police), grabbed one shopping cart from where all the carts go in the parking lot.
We then noticed obviously there was something wrong, so we went inside the store to ask what the problem was. Joy, the manager at PetSmart in Greece, NY, accused me of stealing a Blue Thunder Jacket for a dog. My boyfriend and I told her that we did not steal anything whatsoever and that she was more than welcome to check my purse and the car. She insisted that her co-workers saw us steal the jacket and told us that she had already called the police. I asked her, "Why would I come back into the store to fix the problem if I stole anything?" She could not answer my question.
Common sense is someone stealing would flee, not go back into the store. Duh! She began to get into my personal space and told me, "Look here, little girl, you need to leave; you are causing a scene." I told her that I was not a little girl and that there was no need to call names. I asked to see the tapes of me stealing; they would not show me the tape. So I left the store to avoid problems and waited for the cops. Five cop cars showed up for this. The cops searched the car and found nothing. I put my purse on the ground without being asked and showed them that I had nothing.
The Thunder coat I was accused of stealing for one wouldn't fit my dog. She's like 70 lbs. and the coat was for a small dog. The product was in a box also and there was no way I would fit it in my purse. Also the biggest point is, I never even touched the Thunder coat! My boyfriend's brother found it and showed it to me and it was too small, so he put it back on a random shelf. So the verdict of this whole ordeal is that I cannot go back to the PetSmart even though no product was found stolen and no video was shown of me stealing. Is it right to be banned for something that is not proven? I don't think so. Management should have taken care of that problem in a different and more professional way.

I've had both good and bad experiences with PetSmart in my lifetime, most of my bad experiences being more observational-based, rather than anything bad. I guess I should start with some of the good. At both the PetSmarts I've been to in Urbana, IL and Amarillo, TX, the technicians have been more than helpful when informing you about things such as what fish go well with others. It can get annoying when you know what you're doing, and they treat you like a child, but when you're honestly new, their advice really helps. I do wish they listened more, at least when it comes to the groomers. My dog, Charlie, is a Bichon we actually got from one of their adoption events, the sweetest and laziest little dog. We aren't really a family who cares about how fashionable our animals are, as long as they're happy and healthy.
For that reason, we took Charlie in for grooming because his hair was in his eyes and his paws were becoming matted. The grooming wasn't overly long like some stories I've read on here, but I did watch them hold his paw rather roughly through the window, and force his nails against the grinder. We had told them not to worry about his nails if he was going to struggle because it wasn't our top priority. In the end, they had cut the quick on one of his claws, and left poofy hair on his face, ears, and paws, basically paving the way for us to need to groom him soon. We only took him in once and after that, we took care of his grooming on our own. It seems like we've always had problems with fish from them. Most recently, some bulldog plecos we took home introduced ich[sic] to our tank. In the past two days, both plecos have died, as have 7 of our 9 clown loaches. Just because they're in tanks and don't make sounds to show distress, doesn't mean they don't need as much care as say the birds or small reptiles they care for. We have gotten better fish from grocery store fish tanks.
Their animal-handling skills need improvement - period. I have bought two guinea pigs from them, and saw that when they were being lifted from the cage, the attendant only grabbed the cavy by his midsection, failing to support his rump. And their customer service could use some work. It sometimes takes quite a while to get some service, whereas other times, you're swarmed by people. My final comments are about Banfield, the clinic connected to PetSmart. I see all of these reviews talking about insane charges for little things. I've never experienced this. Tempo, my second guinea pig revealed to me when I was taking him home, that he had an extra claw that had no bone or muscle, and just hung there. I took him into the hospital right then and there, and they took me in, told be that the claw would present no problems unless snagged in wire and told me how to deal with that.
The vet even told me the best types of food to give them, not giving name brands, but explaining that I needed to give them as plain of pellet food as I could. And after all of that, I was not charged. They sent me happily on my way, and I now have two big and healthy guineas. I guess it depends on what you're looking for at PetSmart. They happen to be the only carriers of my favorite pet bedding in my town and my favorite guinea pig food. But they're too commercial for me. I'd rather go to a smaller pet shop, owned locally. They tend to tailor more to the needs of the animals they sell. PetSmart is good for supplies, but not for animals.

After being a loyal customer for many years, having used adoption, training and grooming services, brought 4 generations of dogs there (the trainers suggested we bring our dogs to get socialization and reinforce training when we shop), we have been in the habit of visiting every weekend with our dog. It is the highlight of his weekend. Today, between greeting other dogs, we were working with him on his "sit when stopped" and "look" training. We had dog food picked out for him, and were next going to get a chew toy. We used our PetSmart clicker.
Suddenly, a manager named Joe came up and said, "You can't train your dog here; you'll have to leave. It's store policy." This was a shock. We objected, and he reiterated it saying that they offer training, and we couldn't do ours in the aisle. We said, "We're good customers, spend a lot, etc." He said that we couldn't train our dog there - store policy. We reiterated that we were regulars, and not "dog trainers" and then he finally said, "Well, in that case you can stay."
By this point, we were rather irate, and said there was no way we would stay, and he had lost a good customer, and it was foolish of him, and it was very sad that he'd treat loyal customers that way. Then, he just lied, right to our faces. He said that he'd apologized, and that he never told us to leave. Neither of those things is true.
We took our business down the street. The competitor was very welcoming of us and our dog, said that people are welcome to train in the store, that it's a great environment for it because of distractions and other pets. You'd think that PetSmart would be at least that smart. It was terrible customer service, mixed messages, and a "throw them out first, ask questions later" attitude. Take my advice: shop somewhere else.

I purchased a Dumbo Rat for my daughter’s birthday. Well needless to say, I had him for 3 1/2 weeks just enough time for the guarantee to expire. He ended up having warbles all throughout him. She was rude and proceeded to tell me it wasn’t their problem. She was very condescending. There are no rat specialists in my area, and when I told her that she proceeded to name a long list of vets that would treat him as if I were stupid.
I didn’t want a refund. So needless to say, my little girl is heartbroken and nothing can be done. I will never buy another item from any PetSmart. I brought our dog to get the "works" done at their grooming department when my fiance got a phone call saying we needed to pick up our dog because he freaked out - ran off the grooming table, gone out of the grooming room into the main store and bit one of their employees. Our dog has been there before on numerous occasions and had no problems until this happened. My fiance can get a little worked up so when we got there, I went in the grooming room and of course I asked again what happened. The young lady at the front said, "While cutting your dog's nails, he had "freaked out" and bit one of our employees." "Why did he freak out?" we asked. She replied I don't know. How do you not know? Did he get any other services done to him? She again replied no.
We'll it didn't make sense why a dog would go out of his way to jump off the grooming table literally almost out of the store without something happening to him. But before we get on that subject, we wanted to have our dog bathed at least before leaving so we would never have to go through this again. The young lady said that they were busy and couldn't give him a bath today; we would need to reschedule. But my dog was scheduled for a 2/3 hour appointment. It had only been an hour and a half into our appointment. She continued to insist on setting up an appointment for another day. I asked to speak to a manager. Brandon and Emily, who said they were both managers, approached my fiance and me. "No services were done to my dog, I would like to have my dog bathed at the least today." Emily said they we're too busy, "We can reschedule you for another day."
Well, having me come back on another day for just a bath, I would like to have my services taken care of for my inconvenience. Emily's attitude changed dramatically and she denied my request, then said my dog is no longer allowed here because he had bit an employee and then said that he was dangerous. Whoa! You just wanted us to reschedule and now you're banning our dog! Hold on here. Both my fiance and I became very upset and felt hurtful that the manager had said that about our dog. My fiance asked, "Do you even know why our dog ran off the table and almost out of the store? Was the quick cut?" They just kept saying he freaked out. No one bothered to check our dog.
Both Emily and Brandon were unsure and did not know really what happened. Brandon said he didn't know that our dog's nails were even cut. We asked for their corporate number and both Emily and Brandon walked into the grooming room as I also went in to get my dog. I asked the lady to show me the nail she cut and when she showed me, she tried to wipe the dried blood from his nail and then she quickly got up and walked away. No apology from the employee, just a walk away.
I walked out of the room with my dog and showed my fiance. My fiance was extremely upset and disappointed with the way we were treated, but this is still no reason to treat a customer with disregard and assuming it's our fault without due recourse. I am shocked how both managers Brandon and Emily had handled the situation and asked us to leave the store.

Afterwards, I called for the manager and she too stated that this was a poor choice and mistake that turned out to be disastrous for our little pet called Teddy. "I'm sorry, I can't hear you," he stated, "You'll need to speak up!" He saw my bag in hand. I proceeded to get out my return with the receipt, once again letting him know that I have a return. "What's wrong with the item?" I told him that the item was priced wrong and nothing was wrong with it. I just would like to return it. He proceeded to ask me for my card ending in the four digits on the receipt. I gave him my debit card which I thought I had purchased item with. Rudely, he stated, "I'm sorry, ma'am; this card ends in a different number than what is on the receipt. I can't return the item on this card. It is against store policy and the law."
I looked at him and stated that the return was for three dollars. I assumed with the bar code on the receipt that it could be automatically credited to the card just like Target Stores. The employee was being so rude I asked for the manager. "Oh, you would like for me to call the manager." "Yes," I stated. While he proceeded to call the manager, I realized I had given him the wrong debit card. I let him know and he stated, "The manager is on his way." I said that it would be fine and if he could please go ahead and credit the return on the correct card. Arguing and badgering me, "I thought you wanted to speak with the manager," he stated. The manager finally got there. I told him what was going on and Allen was still going on and yelling at me. The manager finally had to ask him to leave and take a walk.
I explained to the manager that I had a three-dollar return with my receipt after I spent $45 in the store and I had to make another trip because the item rang up wrong to begin with, then to be badgered this way. Something that should had taken two minutes ended up taking ten! I left there in tears! I really thought I was on one of those TV shows - Punked! I brought in my year-old Black Lab, Myah, for a much needed toenail trim with my brother. The young lady (Amber, I think her name was) at the desk was very polite while asking for Myah’s and my information. Before another lady took Myah back, I specifically warned her that she gets very anxious and scared when she gets her toenails trimmed, so she may need another person to hold her and calm her. She replied, "It's okay, I'm used to it." I figured they had everything under control so I left to do other shopping while my brother stood by the window to watch the groomers and Myah. Not five minutes later, my brother walked up to me, Myah's leash in hand and told me that they could not trim her nails. He said one groomer had to hold her down while the other tried to trim her nails, this is what they have had to do in the past with Myah without a problem.
After a minute, maybe two, of attempting, the groomers gave up and handed my brother the leash. One of the ladies said that it has been a stressful day, there was "too much going on" and Myah was threatening to bite. My brother stood there and watched the groomers the entire time and not once did she nip at them, all she did was try to back away. Myah has never bitten anyone or even tried. She doesn't even know how to be aggressive. For these women to accuse my dog for biting is extremely unprofessional, especially since my brother was right there witnessing the entire thing!

Yesterday, I submitted a negative review about PetSmart. Today, I received a call from the district manager who said after reviewing my history of patronizing them, they will adjust the price for me. I still believe that almost tripling the cost of a grooming service all in one increase, especially in this economy when so many people are not able to keep their pets for economic reasons and adoptions are down for the same reason, is an ill-advised and ill-timed strategy. I am still unable to find these other competitive groomers who charge $30-$40 for a toenail trim. However, I do appreciate the call and if I am posting the negative, I also have to post the follow-up and resolution that PetSmart provided.

PetSmart in CA raising feline toenail trimming prices from $9 to $24 (for 45 seconds of work – I timed it) with the rationale that $24 makes them more competitive in the area. No one else I called was charging as much as $24. Also, I was told cats can have unpredictable behavior – biting, etc. - higher pricing. Guess what, dogs bite also. Assess a higher fee on those that require special handling, not on a tabby who practically holds her paw out for the groomer. The salon manager is very nice. I don't think it is possible to adjust pricing – it is a "system" thing. The store manager was not available to speak to. With so many complaints about PetSmart (was unaware of this until now), raising prices is not the smartest strategy.

No waste receptacles at PetSmart. No carbon filters at PetSmart. I went online to get some, bound the entire page, saved for a few small items (not in stock). They have the receptacles, but not the filters. The whole page is disconcerting. With all of the "not in stock" listings, one would think they were going out of business. May I make my own guess as to what is going on? I think they are having trouble with their new Chinese suppliers. The product is not being delivered (note all of the several months backorder comments) and there is no way they can get out of their contract with China. They should tell people when they have a problem, not stonewall them.
People with motor runs, but rake doesn't move problems. I would suspect that there is a (one or both) split gear. On each end of the shaft that drives the rake assembly, there is supposed to be a white plastic gear, which engages the lower edge of the box. These are held in place by a pin that goes through the shaft. They used to sell the gears. You'll need to pull the rake assembly apart, remove the pin, then put on the gear and re-insert the pin. Then, reassemble the unit. My experience goes back to when they had sensors all over the thing, including one that stopped it if the waste receptacle was full (the lid was raised a bit and it blocked a sensor).

I brought my one-year-old maltipoo in for grooming. I have brought her there before and never had an issue. Well, this time I was not so lucky. I get a phone call from the grooming department telling me that my dog developed a hematoma due to the fact that her ears were matted (which, by the way, I have pictures the day I brought her in and there’s very little matting). So when they took the hair off of the ears, the weight of the hair made blood rush to the surface of the skin and made her ears bleed.
As soon as I heard blood, I called up Banfield Pet Hospital, which is where I take my dog for care. They went right over to take a look. My dog did not have a hematoma. She has major lacerations on both ears! Both ears! I picked up my one-year-old baby, who weighs 7 lbs., with dripping, bleeding ears! My dog was traumatized. She did not eat for 4 days on her own. She could not sleep because of the pain. She had to be brought back to the vet for pain meds, antibiotics, and other meds were needed to get her better due to the fact that she also incurred an infection in her ear as well!
The grooming department, the store manager, and corporate have not taken any action or responsibility for anything that has transpired. I can't get any help at the store level; they referred me to corporate. Corporate will not respond either. This is disgusting and I am applauded. This organization prides themselves on helping animals? They don't have any clue how to work with people or animals. They should be shut down. The people they have in there grooming department are not qualified to work with animals on any level.
I have contacted corporate two times already and have filled out two reports. They told me both times it would take 3-5 days to hear back from them. It's been 10 days since that last report has been filed - still nothing. This is something that must be addressed! I am not going away. I refuse to be treated this way. I refuse to have other animals treated this way!

Selling sick fish and not telling customers they are sick: I came into the store early Monday morning, and numerous fish in two tanks were dead. The rest in the tank had signs of fin rot and were dying. I told the fish clerk they needed to be quarantined, not sold, and treated. She had no idea they were sick. She told the manager, who told her to just get rid of the dead fish. I came back that afternoon to find no treatment, and they were selling fish out of the two sick tanks. Fin rot will spread to an entire fish community in the customers' home tanks.

Two weeks ago I took my dog, Romeo, to get washed to Petsmart. Three hours later, I picked him up and he was limping. I asked what had happened and they told me nothing. Then they said he was laying in that small cage with a very hard mat. He was just stiff. I talked then to a manager. He told me right away if I want to take him to a vet, Petsmart will cover the fee. Since it was Sunday, I took him on Monday. He got X-Rays done and the vet told me he has arthritis in both legs but also he has a cruciate ligament torn! The next thing I heard was surgery that cost between $2500 to $4000. My baby was 8 years old and I don't have that kind of money. So they put him on Rymidl, a very strong med.
For a week and a half, it seems like he could live like that. Then suddenly, it got so bad that I had to bring him his food and water. Then he was not able to stand up and do this on his own. I had no other choice then to call the Vet and put my baby, Romeo, down. He was just a happy guy and he loved to chase the squirrels and run around the yard even with his arthritis in both of his legs. So what happened at Petsmart? Nothing?

I’m very disappointed with PetSmart in Windsor Square, Matthews, NC. I have been a customer for over 20 years at this store buying all of my cat and fish supplies as well as seeing Banfield vets for all 4 of my cats. Tonight I attempted to exchange or return an Aqueon brand aquarium hood and light that I purchased on 2/23/12 for $44.99. The light does not work. We tried a new bulb and that is not the problem. The light is defective. I do have my receipt and wanted to exchange it, but the new manager on duty tonight would not work with me at all. She told me I had to contact the manufacturer, which means my fish will live in the dark for weeks. Obviously, some aquarium products do wear out before the warranty and I have returned items in the past with no hassle, which is why I continue to shop there. They have lost a customer for life over $45. I can take my money to another pet store or Walmart. Shame on you for hiring incompetent employees with no customer service skills.

I love animals though and thought bathing would be a good choice. I was horrified at the incompetency of the groomers and the number of injuries to the dogs in the short time I was there.
Also the immaturity of the girls (can't even call them groomers because they are not) working on the dogs. They spent most of their time on their cell phones and were completely rude to the customers. They had no patience. They had no idea how to treat the dogs. A lot were rescues and already traumatized and they just make it worse because of their lack of knowledge and experience. Incompetent staff - When I made the appointment on the phone to take my Shih Tzu to PetSmart in Champaign, IL, they said he needed to have a current Rabies tag when I brought him in. I thought that was odd because his previous groomer had never asked for one nor had PetSmart asked for one a year ago when I took my dog in there. So no big deal though, he always has his tag on! So, I get there and first it took them 10 minutes to wait on me because they were too busy goofing off and then they couldn't find my appointment. Then, they tell me I have to have the official rabies paper before they will groom him! I told the girl what I was told on the phone and showed her the tag that had the year on his tag. She said that wasn't good enough.
Although I understand their reason for not accepting the tag after she explained it to me, she said too bad, can't groom him. This is the second time I've had a bad experience with this same store. My friend used to work here too and she called corporate on them. Once corporate chewed them out, the management team made her life a living hell and she quit. They play favorites here! I went back to the store # 181 (Irving, TX) and spoke with the manager. I explained to the store manager that the fleas are not dying and my cat is still scratching. She rudely asked how I knew the product was not working, despite the fact I had already explained the situation. I explained to her that I wanted to exchange the product for a different brand of flea medication. I had my original store receipt, the unused portion, and packaging. She would not exchange the product. On May 25, 2012, I called PetSmart Corporate and spoke with Chris in Customer Service. I explained the situation again as I had to the store manager. I was told I would receive a call back in 3-5 days.
I called again on June 4, 2012 due to no communication from PetSmart. I spoke with Shane who identified himself as a supervisor. I explained the original situation and that I had been told I would receive a response within 3-5 days. I explained the fleas are increasing in number rather than dying and that I believe my cat is suffering due to the Frontline is not working. I was told by Shane he would send an e-mail to the individual who would handle this. I called PetSmart again today June 7, 2012 due to no communication. I spoke with Jaime who identified herself as a supervisor. Once again I explained the situation. I was again promised a response in 3-5 days. PetSmart apparently does not stand behind the products they sell. There, apparently, is no concern on PetSmart’s behalf that my cat suffers because the product they sold does not work. I now have to deal with an increased flea population, when originally I was trying to combat the problem early before it became a bigger problem. I paid too much money for a product that does not work.

I don't remember feeling this abused in a store. I went to PetSmart at Roseville today to get a specific prescription cat food I've purchased many times in the past. They had moved it. I called my husband to get the exact name of the food we needed. I went around to the next aisle. I found Royal Canin for Felines, but it was not among them. So I went to ask where the food was. There were 2 very young women behind the desk, one helping someone pay her bill. I asked the other one where the food was. That it is a long hairy title doesn't help any.
She pointed vaguely off to the east, and got up to go through her swinging door to visit with her friends. I went to the dog section she had pointed at, and studied and studied, but only saw pictures of dogs on every bag. So I went back to ask again, emphasizing that I needed the Cat version, and she made it very, very clear that I was an unnecessary annoyance and that the "client" she was visiting with endlessly was very, very important whereas I was not a valued customer in any way. She assured me that it was over there, and that she would help me find it when they were finished. Then the client made a snide, nasty remark about how much she hates people like me, and the woman behind the desk agreed with her. If they like rage and evil so much, why not go into boxing instead? I just needed a bag of cat food.
I had the woman at the register call the manager. She had to call 5 times. He was a nice young man when he did come, and he listened to me. On balance though, I don't think they care about anyone in this store. They move and hide things and then won't tell you where they are, and hate you for asking. And, if you to go Banfield Veterinary to get your pet looked at, they will make you go broke. We paid out over $2,000 on our cat before we gave up and took it to the Humane Society, despite it being pedigreed. Take your pet to a real vet who cares about the animal instead of what's in your wallet.

I even took them a picture of how I wanted her to look. Well, the cut was too short but that was okay as it will grow. When I got her back, she couldn't wait to run from that place. I was just holding her and rubbing her belly when I noticed that her who-ha was red and I looked at it and they nicked her with either the shaver or the scissors. I was so upset that I looked all around the area and they also nicked her at the back of her who-ha. She has blood on her from getting shaved and I never told them to shave that area and the pic didn't show it shaved.
We started looking at her warts and lumps to see if they too had been nicked and she snapped at my granddaughter which she never ever does. Well, she snapped because the damn wart had also been nicked. These idiots didn't listen to me and they hurt this poor little doggie. She is a rescue dog who was abused by her previous owner and now the poor baby thinks that I am gonna let people abuse her too.
I call Ashley at Petsmart and told them what happened and they hung up on me. So I called them back and they said their vet is too busy to see her today but that I can bring her in tomorrow. I was crying and told her, "fine, I will bring her in tomorrow," and before I could say I wanted my money back for hurting my baby, she hung up on me again. What kind of jerk shaves a little yorkie's who-ha and doesn't listen when told of the dog's previous abuse and issues? I am so angry but more than anything I feel so horrible for leaving my baby with these monsters who hurt her. She has had such a rough life and to be hurt when I leave her to get groomed pisses me off and makes me feel so awful because I left her with these idiots.
She is such a gentle sweet thing and never snaps at anyone, so for her to snap when touched means they hurt her and I just want to rip someone a new **. Do not take your animal to be groomed at the Petsmart on Loop 288 in Denton as they don't listen and don't care.

First of all, my dog has been getting groomed by Petsmart since 3 months old and has never been denied except at the Mercantile location in Albuquerque. As a professional courtesy, I always inform the groomer of my dog's health issues and this is the first time I have been denied grooming. I'm sure my dog is not the only old dog with hip issues and bad knees.
Nowhere is it stated in your policy that Petsmart will not groom senior large breed dogs with healthcare issues when advised. If that is, in fact, a true policy, then Petsmart is obligated to advise the public and then post such claims and denials at their facilities, as well as, online so a consumer would not have to be humiliated by its managers. My dog has been on the Banfield Wellness Plan since he was 12 weeks old and has an awesome doctor. I have been taking my 2-year-old Black Labrador to PetSmart since I've adopted her when she was 4 months old. This last time, just two day ago, I brought her in to have her nails trimmed. She always begins to shake before even getting out of the car and fights me the whole way in. It usually takes two of us to get her into PetSmart. My dog is sweet, non-aggressive and charms anyone. We had our other dog (Pomeranian Eskimo) go first since he's easier. It took all of 6 minutes to have his nails cut and then my Black Labrador was next.
I stood outside of the grooming salon and watched through the glass window so that she couldn't see me. The person cutting her nails didn't know I had been watching (mind you, I had requested the grinding/filing on her nails only because she is already so scared). As I was watching, I saw the lady look over her shoulder as if she was wondering if I was watching her. She did eventually see me, and at this point, it had already been 12-15 minutes that had gone by and my dog wasn't putting up a fight with her either. My dog did yelp out once that was heard on the other side of the glass which upset me.
So then I see the lady call over another groomer who was a much bigger lady (which I have no issue until...) that came over and leaned over to lay on my dog to hold her down and also hiding my dog and the lady trimming her nails from my view which made me wonder why, being that my dog wasn't putting up a fight. So I went back into the salon to see/hear what was going on and as soon as I walked in, I heard them cutting my dogs nails! They were longer and obviously, they didn't want to take the time filing them, so they chopped them and then filed them to make it look as if they were filed.
I was pissed because my poor dog was being worked on for 20 minutes. I paid extra for them to file her nails vs cutting them and they cut them down so short, her veins were clipped. I can't blame my dog for being petrified when going there. That's sickening to me because our dogs can't speak up and these people know that, and do a half ** job when it comes to our dogs' safety and comfort. He is scheduled for a 6-8 weeks grooming. I will not be taking him back there anymore. The vet stated that the groomer cut too close to his testicles. This happened for grooming on 2/12/12.

The only thing changed in this diet plan is these "poison" treats. After research, I learned that these treats are known for killing multiple (100s) family members (pets), with everyone giving this specific brand to their family member (pet). These are still on the shelves as of March 26th. I will file with BBB and Federal JAG Office and bring all the heat someone with 15 years of Army service can bring.

My husband and I purchased a Potty Patch to help in the training of our puppies. Description of Potty Patch full 17"x27" size, small for dogs under 15 lbs. Within minutes of my husband putting the Potty Patch down, we were eating dinner and suddenly heard one of the puppies choking. My husband ran to the kitchen where the potty patch was placed, near the sliding glass door.
My husband grabbed the puppy and was able to grab a piece of the fake grass. The length was approx. 6 to 7 inches. If for the fact that we were home for this, the puppy will be okay. My fear was what would have happened to the puppy if we set it down just before we went to work. I believe we would have come home to find possibly a dead puppy. Please take this off the market before it does happen to another puppy that might not be so fortunate.

I went into the Apple Valley PetSmart and was trying to find the dog food I get every two weeks (Blue). I saw that the only one that was missing was the large breed, which is the one I always get. So I asked for some help. The woman said she just got off but that she would get someone else to help me. Then a man named **, who said he was the manager, came and he was on the phone. He was about to pass me because the woman didn't tell him who it was that needed help. So I asked him if he could help me. He then put his hand up indicating that he was on the phone and continued to keep talking. After he got off the phone, I asked him if he had the brand I was looking for in the back. He said no. Then I asked him if he could double check just to make sure because all of the other flavors had tree bags or more. He said no, he wouldn't check! And they would have more in tomorrow. He was so rude I will never go to the Apple Valley PetSmart again!

Well, my wife and I were investing in our kids' interest, so we bought 2 parakeets from PetSmart at 14137 Rivergate Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28278. The birds were not too happy to go with us but they came. We thought all was well, we did all we could/needed to make sure they were entertained, fed, cleaned and just well. We even mentioned them in our prayers.
Long story short, we got the birds 2/4/2012 and both are dead as of 3/12/2012 approximately. A shame and a scandal for real how is that they have a 14 day policy and the first bird died on the 18th day. The second died several days ago. I don't understand how this can happen. I have seen the articles after the fact on the rapid, sudden deaths. I warn you, if you got young kids in the house like my wife and I, don't buy these birds from PetSmart. Kids are tormented by this. Returning the $170+ dollars spent for the starter kit, birds, and etc will not revoke the torment of kids going into the room and seeing dead animals. Church is the only reason I didn't put them on their doorway, irreversible, very much so.

On Friday, March 2, 2010, my husband and I went to Rio Grande PetSmart to buy one red minor tetra because we lost one due to a piece of rock falling on it. I selected the fish I wanted and asked my husband to work with the employee to get it while I shopped for something else. My husband returns with the fish and everything seemed fine.
When we got home, we noticed that the fish was not a red minor tetra and PetSmart was already closed by that time. My husband told me that the employee could not catch any of the red minor tetras so she said, "I'll go to another tank for one." Well, she went to another tank and selected a tetra that was easy to catch. Okay, this is only a fish for $3.99 but it was not a red minor which we wanted because they are quick enough to avoid being eaten by our turtles. The new tetra did not last three minutes in our tank and suddenly became a feeder fish!

My wife and I went to PetSmart on Tuesday Feb. 28 to get a couple of guppies for our 10 gallon fish tank. We asked the salesgirl in that dept. to help us and she responded with a lengthy and condescending speech on fish care. After going on and on for about five minutes, I tried to explain to this person that we have had aquariums for years and we know what we are doing so please just get our fish and we will be on our way. Her response was "I don't like your attitude and I'm not selling you fish if you're just going to go home and kill them". We then told her we wish not to do business with someone like her and spoke to the manager and got the same attitude from him. It seems at PetSmart the customer is never right and management encourages their workers to treat them that way. In the meantime, my wife and I will never shop at PetSmart again and will encourage others to do the same.

I took my dog to be groomed. When she was done, she was extremely thirsty. I saw no water around, but I had some in my van. She drank a whole bottle. The next time I took her in, I asked the manager where the water was for the dogs. He told me there was two bowls, under the drinking fountain. I looked: they were both dry! They are in the back of the store, completely out of the way. I told him and he apologized. So I asked him why there is no water near the grooming salon. He told me that they would need to comply with OSHEA rules about water on a floor, etc., blah, blah, blah!
So, my next question was, “Why don't you create a western motif, like a watering hole against the wall for the dogs with non-skid paint around the hole and dress it up a little?” I could see the glaze forming over his eyes when he said "corporate would never O.K. something like that.” Well, I asked some of the people around in the store and they thought it was a great idea. Anyway, the next two times I've been in the store the bowls are dry! I took my daughter’s dog to be groomed, 2/22/12, and both were dry. I took my dog in today, 2/29/12, and both were dry. The hair groomer took him, and had a face that like she didn't want to be at work at 7AM on a Saturday. She took my dog away and said, "we will call you when he is ready, like 2 hours later". She called and stated that she was not going to finish my dog, that he was showing signs of aggression and frustration, and he wanted to bite. First, my dog is not an aggressive dog. Second, he wasn't feeling well. Had she told me that, if they couldn't work on him until his ear was better, I wouldn't have left him there. When I came back to pick up my dog, he had one ear shaved, and his back had a cut. He had patches of hair here and there. My dog looked horrible. The groomer did not want to deal with me, and had a nasty attitude and said, "I won't charge you".
She didn't want to work with any dog since she got to work. I could tell, because when I greeted her with a good morning, she didn't answer, and had a face of annoyance, because she was the first groomer of the morning, and had 3 dogs waiting for her. I will never take my dogs there. This is Upland California, Pet Smart. This is the second time they have given me such a horrific service!

My girlfriend and I were looking into doggy classes for our 11 month old boxer dog. So we went in there and they sold us on the class telling us that everything we told them we would like her to be able to do was covered in the class. We were so happy we also asked about our other dog that is a pit bull. We told them how lately he has been a little aggressive towards other dogs and that we wanted that to stop, they said that was also covered in the beginning dog classes.
So we go to the first 3 classes which are half of the classes and nowhere in there did they talk about anything we told them we wanted our dogs to learn. I do not personally care if my dog can look at me for 10 seconds or not pull when I walk them. I like my dogs to be free. I just do not want them in the house and being aggressive towards other dogs.
My girlfriend and I went back in there to tell them that we were not satisfied because none of the things we had originally talked about getting our dogs trained to do were covered and we did not have the time or money to be paying for our dogs to learn tricks we did not care about. After telling us how there is a money back guarantee and satisfaction guarantee, the manager said that he could only give us back some of our money. I told him that we were very angry about that and that we spend over $200 a month at that store for our dogs and if we do not get our money back like he guaranteed us, then we would not be shopping at PetSmart anymore. My boyfriend and I attempted to buy fish at a specific PetSmart and ended up walking out irritated and confused. I have been to other petsmarts and had gotten fish with no problem and with all the help I needed.
The first night we went to get fish, a new tank and accessories, we asked for some assistance from a lady working there. Instead of giving us her opinion and ideas and letting us decide what we wanted to do, she basically explained that she was not going to give us fish that night and that we had to take the tank home, set it up, and let it sit for a few days before I got fish. Some of her reasoning made sense so I decided not to fight her and just went along with it.
I came back a few days later. My boyfriend and I discussed several combinations of fish to get but decided that since it was a new tank, we would just get five goldfish and a Pleco ( sucker fish). We picked a few fish we liked that we figured would be easy to catch because of their obvious markings and asked for assistance. We got an older gentleman who was an even worse sales person. He acted like it was hassle to get the two specific fish we liked and told us that we could only get three goldfish if I wanted a Pleco because I only had a ten-gallon tank. He also basically explained that because I had a new tank, I could not get a Pleco because I had nothing in the tank for the fish to eat. I asked him if there was any kind of Pleco food that we could start off with. He then changed his reasoning by saying that goldfish give off ammonia and it would kill my Pleco.
At that moment I was so frustrated because there was no winning this battle unless I took the net (fish catcher) and got my fish myself. I angrily watched as he got my four fish ( two of which I just let him choose so I could get out of there) and left. I went somewhere else to get the Pleco I wanted.
Thinking about it a few hours later, I got more frustrated at his demand for allowing me to only have four fish in my ten-gallon tank when the approximately 10 to 15 gallon tank he was getting my goldfish out had more than30 fish in it. All I can say to finish this complaint with is that, " a few bad apples can truly ruin the whole barrel", and I refuse to refer PetSmart to anyone ever and you will not catch me or my family in a pet smart again. Thank you for your time.

However, about two days ago, I went to use it again, and even though the motor turned on, and the blade appeared to move, it merely skimmed across the top of the dog. I still had the original box (since it was barely used), and when I went to Pet Smart on ** in Phoenix Arizona, they refused to take it back, or help in any way. They said that the store policy at Deer Valley #133 requires a receipt for any purchase over $10.00.
This seems like a rather harsh policy, as people can easily lose receipts. They were completely unconcerned, and only shrugged their shoulders, and never offered any help. I only wanted to exchange the clipper set, not get my money back. While I understand some people might take advantage of a company, this also punishes everyone who shops there. The groomer who took my dog said that my dog would be ready to be picked up in 3 to 4 hours. At 6:09PM, my boyfriend got a phone call saying that my dog was ready. We drove to get her back, only to see the door closed with only few staffs cleaning inside.
There was already another customer arguing with the staff left there standing by the closed door, and I went to them hoping I could still get my dog. But the thing they told me was that I couldn't get my dog because they were closed. Supposedly, they closed at 6PM today, which I was never specifically told by anyone working there. On 3 Dec 2011, I took my dog to the groomers at PetSmart. The person that did the intake of my puppy was also the groomer. We looked over my dog and she showed me some matted spots. She said that his back was okay, but there were a couple of spots of matting. She stated that she had been there since 7:00 am and she had not finished her first dog yet and she should have done three by this time. On the paper she gave me, she stated that there were some matted areas as she stated when we examined my dog together.
I checked the box on the from that stated I did not agree to shaving my dog. My husband went to pick up the dog and asked them who told them to shave him. The guy that gave him the dog just had a blank look on his face according to my husband. When I saw Polo (our dog) when he go home, I was very upset that they shaved his whole body. He only had hair on his head. I was only in town for a couple of hours and I did not have time to go to the store personally. I called on 5 December 2011 and asked for a manager, she put me on the phone with the groomer. I asked her why did she shave Polo and she stated, "I told you there was some matting" and I told her that as she may recall, we looked at Polo together and he was not extremely matted. She actually said his top side was good.
I went on to ask, what you want me to do. I can't put the hair back on. I told her that I am not stupid, I know that, but she should have called me if she felt she had to shave his especially since I noted on the form that I did not approve for his to be shaved. I think the reason she shaved Polo is because she was very behind and my husband called at about 3:00 pm asking when he would be ready. The groomer at PetSmart did not have my puppy or his owner's best interest in mind. When the customer marks they do not consent to shaving, they should be called if the groomer feels shaving is the only choice for the pet.

On 11/18/11, I decided to treat my 10-month-old bulldog to a day at the salon. She had been suffering from food allergies which were causing skin irritations. I wanted her to have a bath with her medicated shampoo (vet prescribed) as well as a thorough ear cleaning and nails filed with the Dremel since her allergies were causing her to scratch and I didn't want her hurting herself with sharp nails. When my boyfriend and I went to pick Harley (my baby) up, I noticed that the price of the ordeal was much higher than I had thought it to be, and extra $10 for the Dremel and an extra $6 for using a shampoo that I brought in.
When I asked about this charge, I was responded to rudely that "we've always had this charge when you bring your own", which not only doesn't make sense for the fact that you are not using your product, but one I already paid my vet $30 for, but the person I spoke to was also fully aware that it was my first time bringing my pet there since I had to hand her vaccination records and all of my personal information! So as far as her attitude in letting me know how the company has always worked, it would have been nice for you to tell me that from the start when I handed you the bottle along with my pet.
Once I went up and paid for their services, I went to the back to retrieve my dog. When I took her out of the crowded salon area and into the main store to give her some loving I was horrified. Not only was she still wet but she smelled not at all of her medicated shampoo, but of perfume, after I repeatedly stressed the fact that she was allergic to everything! My dog, who is a total ham and normally wants nothing more than for every person and animal alike to give her attention with her wiggly butt, was b-lining for the door wanting to get out of that store. I was so upset that I put my dog through that mess that I was crying as I left.
When I got home I noticed that my dogs nails were not only still long, but sharp as could be, and her incessant scratching of her ears led me to clean them again and they were disgusting! I have no idea how they could have been that dirty if they were "cleaned really well" like I had been promised they would be.When reading Harley's "pawgress report card" I was given as I left, I was again reassured of the incompetence of the salon attendant. Every section filled out was a lie:
Skin - Healthy (she had scabs and sores covering both hips and most of her back, as well as pimples on her face);Coat - Good (the highest rating for a dog whose hair was falling out and covered with bald patches);
Ears - Clean (as I stated they were gross);
Nails - Good shape (bull).
I will never go back to this place again! I was so upset and my poor baby suffered for my decision.

Upon arrival, I walked up to the automatic doors just as an employee, Nicole, was locking them. I asked her to please let me in, that I knew exactly what I needed and that my dog was hungry, I would only be three minutes. She said, "I'm sorry but the registers are closed." I then got angry because she was lying to me - directly behind her I saw two lanes open with short lines of people, still waiting to be rung up. I pointed this out to her and she said "Sorry, there's nothing I can do, I've already locked the doors." I asked to speak to her manager. She went to find the manager and came back without the manager. She unlocked the doors, glared at me and said, "My manager says to get what you need and then get out."
I got my dog his bag of food, and checked out. Before I left, I told Nicole that she could benefit from some customer service training or failing that, go into a non-retail line of work because she was very rude. She then replied, "You were the one who was rude to me." I told her that her opinion was irrelevant because I was the customer and despite her attitude once opening the doors, I still bought a product from their store and the next day I'd be calling to speak to the district manager about her behavior. When in fact I should have left as soon as she told me to get in and get out! Such disrespect. If my dog hadn't needed food that night, I would have turned around. We have not set foot into PetSmart since that day and will not ever again. Nicole is still working there by the way - I never forget a face and I saw her the other day in another store in her PetSmart attire.

Managers who refuse to deal with what is obviously a problem on both ends because they are too busy talking on their phone in the office (I never saw the manager once, nor heard her, and if Nicole hadn't identified her as a "she" I wouldn't even know she was female). I had no choice but to rate this business with one star. If I had my way, it would get no star!

They have so-called trainers that offer to sell the AKC CGC and Star Puppy certification for a fee and you do not have to attend any classes or evaluations. I saw one person bought it and they did not even have a dog with them. Not just that, but if you do not pay the trainer, you end up attending the classes and then after being told your dog passed, you are told that your dog is not old enough for the certification and that you lose your money and will have to come back when the dog is old enough.
When I threatened to report her, she said she would fix me. Two days later, I am accused of my dog causing a 2 inch deep wound on another dog that was treated two days later because it had just started bleeding. What the heck?! Anyone with 1/2 a brain knows that if there is a puncture of 2 inches in depth made to a dog, it is going to be favoring that area, bleeding heavily, yelping and showing all sorts of signs within seconds not two days later.
And the thing is, there was no report of any dogs attacking or getting attacked at the store or to animal control. Watch out when you deal with Petsmart in Naples, Florida as they are as crooked as they come and are very fraudulent! I was robbed of over $200.00

I can't believe that all the bad reviews, will have major effects to our pets, and as of 11/2/11, Pet Smart still has those deadly products on their shelf. When I was reading all the other reviews, it was déjà vu. My precious kitty, Little Girl, about 1 1/2 years old, immediately started twitching. She was very lethargic, but because she was so uncomfortable she couldn't rest. she was hissing at the air, and has no appetite. I am floored that this product is still being sold.

I have taken over care of the family cocker spaniel. I have taken him to a PetSmart groomer at least 4 times and every time I have had an issue. Twice, I have asked them to trim his nails and I make it a point to say "Remember the dewclaw!" When I picked him up, I asked if there were any issues and they said "no." Every time I have had to make a repeat trip to PetSmart for not doing all of his nails. I have never been able to get my refund even though they blatantly lied to me when I picked him up. On this most recent visit, my dog contracted kennel cough from holding my dog in the back where I was not allowed to see the conditions of the holding area. I had asked to go back and was told, "Sorry ma'am, we can't allow you on this side of the counter. " They already do not service your dog when you make the appointment but rather hold your animal and tell you to come back in 4 or 5 hours. I shouldn't have trusted them. They do not care about the safety of the dogs, and I will never purchase from them again.

We wanted to buy a gold fish to start in a fish bowl for myself and my granddaughter. A great way to get started and move on to aquariums. We were refused service if we wanted a gold fish. It was suggested that it would be cruel and could kill the fish. In other words, we do not know what we are doing and **. We get the process. A suggestion to start in the fish bowl and move to an aquarium would have been greatly appreciated in our training for my granddaughter, but not be refused the opportunity to buy a gold fish so we can learn about the fish and their care. We went to PetSmart because we were given a gift card. In going through the store, we found the place to be dirty and the help was ignorant of how to talk with customers to make the experience pleasant, education and fun. Don't shop at PetSmart. They have no idea on how to treat people. We hate to see what they really do to pets.

I took my dog there to have her looked at because she was vomiting and had blood in her stool. She was diagnosed with Parvo. They quoted me $1000.00 for a 4-day stay with IV medicines. And they gave me the option to do outpatient care for her where they would do subcutaneous fluids and antibiotic injections. After 3 days of this and her condition worsening, they suggested that I put her to sleep or surrender her to the hospital where they would have her on IV medicines for 3 days. If she pulled through, they would adopt her out to one of the staff members.
I took her to another clinic where I was told that a 4-day stay there with intravenous medicines would run me around $300.00. He said that he had seen much worse cases than her that pulled through. He stated that the treatment she was receiving there was "like pissing in the ocean". It means that what they did there was better than nothing, but only slightly better than nothing. He also said that if she had continued this "treatment", she wouldn't have made it. The new doctor had her well again and running around by the 3rd day. I spent a little more than $400.00 at PetSmart on a treatment that would have killed my dog before being charged $300.00 at the new place to get her well. This place is a ripoff. They will not try and heal your pets if you cannot come up with the money up front to meet their ridiculous price demands. Do not go there if you care about your pet.

At 1:00PM in the afternoon, the cats up for adoption were in dirty cages with litter and food contaminating the water bowls. The animals seemed depressed. When brought to the attention of an employee, the employee stated "they haven't been done yet". Unacceptable! I will no longer support an organization that can charge outrageous prices for pet supplies, food, vet services etc., yet not take care of the animals appropriately. I have taken my dog there for over 11 years, and my number one complaint with her was that her breathing was hard. I even took a move of how she did it. All they could tell me was that she was overweight, and they gave me Thyroid medications for her. Now, after all this time, they think she has Cushion's disease but one doctor says, "Yes, that's what is wrong," and then another says no.
So, my husband took her in today, after she has been there for 8 hours. They gave him the wrong amount on the cost of the test, and because they could not get a hold of me, they did nothing, but they have my husband's work number and they never did call it. Then, I got to look at her paper and it says, "abnormalities about her eyes," and they did not tell me anything about it either. I have never gone there where it did not cost me over a $100.00 to take her.
The rate for this is 1. I had to put one because it would not let this go through. I think it is a shame that after all this time, the dog is almost at the end of her life and they think they known what is wrong with her. Contact me if you are like, "Boy, do I have more."

I will never order a big ticket item from PetSmart's website again!
I have a destructive terrier. Our trainer suggested that we get a kennel for the backyard so that our dog won't eat our furniture while we're away. I mistakenly bought just the cover for the kennel. Then, an hour later, we went back online and ordered the actual kennel which was way more expensive than I thought. I called the hotline to cancel the cover, and someone said "I can't cancel that, Ma'am." I'm pretty sure they're counting on people being too lazy to return an item once it's delivered. Anyway, they sent me a 'survey' to ask how my experience was and I explained what happened. Then, the next day, the cover was delivered.
The day after that, I got an email cancelling the order. I emailed them back and asked about the cover or the kennel that was being cancelled and mentioned that my card is still charged for both (and explained, again, what I wanted). The kennel was delivered a couple of days later. The last email I received said that they were going to pick up the cover. Well, that never happened and my card still shows it's charged for it.
Then, my husband started to put the darned thing together. Screws were missing and the chain portion is completely tangled and messed up (sections on the ends are outright missing).

My husband took my puppy dog, a 4 months old Shih-tzu to the grooming salon at PetSmart Devon at 6pm. Usually they take 3 hours to care for my puppy, but this time, it was only 1hour 30 minutes because the beautiful soul groomer simply shaved my whole dog and returned it to us.
When my husband brought the dog back all I did was cry and scream like a crazy person. To shave a puppy will take him 3 to 4 months to have the same grown hair. So I got the dog and went back to the store, the manager that was there was really nice and understandable, offered us the refund and agreed with me that my dog looked dirty and that shave was not very appropriate for his age unless requested by us, which was not. But he said that he was just filling in that night and he was going to pass the incident to the actual store manager next day.
So I called next day and said everything again to the store manager, Scott, he listened, he apologized and mention that my husband had sign the paper authorizing the "haircut". Okay, please do not call me stupid! We always have to sign that paper when we leave our dogs there but that does not mean that we understand that the groomer will not even try to bath or brush my dogs hairs and will go straight to the shave. But likely the super smart and efficient groomer gave the visit report to my husband in which he checked that the coat of the dog was good not matted as he told me after shaving him. Paper by paper I have the proof that what he did was unprofessional and unnecessary. After all the discussion with the manager by the phone he asked me if I could take that dog back for him to see if he was dirty and they would clean it up! Really? They should not worry about it, I am not bringing my dog there anymore. The poor thing looks so silly, not to mention that his ear cut is all chopped. I know that a bad haircut is minor close to what happens with your little fellas but I am still really upset. I would have done a better job myself.

We went to Petsmart in Trussville, AL, to make an appointment to have both our Aussies shaved. When we went into the grooming department, no one waited on us. There were many girls shaving the dogs, but no one would help us. After a few minutes, I finally asked the group, "Excuse me, we would like to make an appointment for our dogs to get shaved," to which no one replied. One girl finally spoke up and yelled out, "What kind of dogs?" I told her Aussies and how much they weighed. I stood there for a couple of minutes before another one finally came up and took our information and made an appointment for a shaving and to have their anal glands extracted. They were very rude and poor in customer service.
The day came for the shaving and we dropped them off. We picked them up later that afternoon and we have noticed right away that they were very scared. They would not leave my wife's side. If my wife would go outside without them, they would go ballistic. They were traumatized. Later, we noticed that there were scabs on all of their nipples. Later that evening, they began rubbing their rear ends on the carpet and biting at their rears. This anal discomfort they seem to be experiencing continued to get worse over the next few days. My wife finally had enough and called Petsmart to complain. The vet told her to bring them in to look at which she did. The vet confirmed that their groomers had nicked some of their nipples and a couple were completely shaved off. I can't imagine how much this must have hurt them. There had to be blood everywhere and they had to be yelping. The vet also told her one of the dogs anal glands was not completely extracted. Lastly, he said that both dogs had a fungal infection. The vet said this was pre-existing, which we know to be false. The dogs were fine before we took them to Petsmart and how would both dogs catch the same thing at exactly the same time unless they used some dirty instruments on them. Their vet did give us some medication free of charge which did clear up the infection.
We always had very rude customer service at the Trussville Petsmart. We are very polite, patient people too, so it is not like we are instigating their rudeness. My wife has finally had enough and said we are never going there again. We will have to drive 5 miles out of our way to the nearest Pet Supplies Plus, but it will be worth it to not put up with the unprofessional/unskilled staff, terrible customer service and danger to our dogs. Go somewhere else!

I bought two more fishes, went to the register to pay and when the receipt was generated I asked the cashier to please show me on the receipt where it stated the return policy regarding fish. She was not able to find it and called the manager who is the person I have named in this complaint.
Then they told me no, I was not told the right information. The return policy was on the bag the fish came in. I asked the manager to please show me where it stated that. The manager could not find the return policy on the bag either and they collectively--the manager, cashier and clerk--decided that it was on the old bags. These are the new bags. I can t understand how a big organization like Pet Smart can solely rely on a verbal only return policy. Reason being was that I would cry from what I experienced the short time I worked there and if you weren't in the click, you were out. Clients didn't get all that they paid for when it came to their beloved pets and how some of them were treated. More personal business than professional business. I don't understand how the vets are still in business. The clients are paying for services their pets never received because they would overbook and work the employees like Hebrew slaves. The local Pet Smart advertised that pet rescue societies would be displaying dogs and cats for adoption at their store around April 28, 2011 for a few days following. I went to Pet Smart to purchase my dog supplies and while there, I looked at the new puppies on display. I decided to buy one. Within 24 hours, this puppy was in life-threatening status and had to be taken in for vet treatment, retained in isolation and treated for a very dangerous respiratory illness, possibly distemper. I have a dog at home and he was also exposed to this puppy, so the potential was to lose both dogs and my son's visiting dachshund.
In order to try to save this dog's life, I left him with the vet for 3 days in isolation and critical care. My dearly loved 5-year old dog had to undergo a broad series of injections to try to prevent his demise as well. Even though these dogs were offered by a 'rescue' society supposedly, having them on premises at Pet Smart, as well as the advertisements, led to legitimacy of the adoption process. The dogs should have been in good health. These puppies were also neutered at 6 weeks old, which should have created alarms for someone who knew better (which I did not). I also found out that the puppy had hookworms although supposedly (according to the paperwork), he was wormed. The vet told me the products used for worming and the initial immunizations were substandard. Pet Smart should be responsible for hosting the adoption process.

Only 2 weeks after the second grooming, I had to rush my dog to the 24 hour animal ER because of a pussing rupture on her right butt cheek. The vet looked at it for 2 seconds and was able to tell that her anal gland had ruptured because it was never expressed. He also stated that it is part of the grooming process.
I called PetSmart the next day, only to be told that this is a "request only" procedure. What if we don't know about it and how important it is? My poor animal had to have a 2 inch abscess removed from her butt cheek, has a nickel-sized open wound, and is on pain killers and antibiotics. Needless to say, the bill was $380 dollars. The story was repeated numerous times on Saturday morning and I thought I would bring it to our readers just to show how misfortune can strike at the Holidays and how many times have each of us taken a pet to be groomed and this could have happened to us. Condolences to Rozzy over the loss of River and hope she gets some answers."
From http://www.myfoxhouston.com: Like many pet owners, Rozzy ** has always considered her dog, River, more like her child. "I love my dog. My dog is my everything," said Rozzy. So you can only imagine her disbelief when she dropped River off at the groomer Wednesday and minutes later got a call that something was terribly wrong. "I just picked him up and I held him and I was just crying. I said, 'What happened to my dog? Somebody please explain to me what happened to my dog,'" said Rozzy. The champion-bred Maltese died, but when she asked the folks at PetSmart how it happened, she said, they gave her the runaround. "(The groomer) said, 'He jumped off the table'. Then he said, 'He fell'. That's when I said, 'Did he fall or did he jump? Because first you said he jumped, now you're saying he fell'", Rozzy said.
She said what hurts her the most is that she has come to the same grooming salon for the eight years she had River, so she expected the people there to have a little more compassion."You see these bags, I have cried for the last 48 hours nonstop," said Rozzy When we contacted PetSmart to try to get an explanation, they instead offered an apology. "No words can begin to ease the loss of Ms. Rozzy's beloved dog, River, nor adequately express our sorrow. We consider Rozzy and River members of the PetSmart family and deeply regret River's passing," said a spokesperson with PetSmart.
But that's not enough for Rozzy, who said she immediately took her dead dog to a private vet--and she says she has paperwork to prove that PetSmart's versions of what happened that day don't add up."I brought him here to get groomed for Christmas pictures -- so we can take our pictures, but never to die," Rozzy said.

The next day her eyes got all red, and almost closed. I called, and was told this was probably from the bright light that was used to clean, and would go away. The next day, they were worse, and I brought her in, and told them to help my dog, so she would not get worse. The vet, when looking me in the face, admitted that they should have covered her eyes, but must not have, and gave me drops for her eyes.
I took her to an emergency vet the next day, because my dog could barely see. They found that both eyes had been scratched, and gave me medicines to heal her eyes. I went to Banfield, and told them what was found. The vet then admitted, they must have got chips from cleaning in her eyes. My dog's right eye got better, but not the left, and when I went to Banfield, they told me to take her to a vet, who deals with eyes. I took her there, and that vet was able to fix her eye, and Banfield paid the bill, after I reminded them how she was injured.
I would never take any dog, cat, etc. to Banfield, because I love my pets. Now, they are turning me in to collection for the wellness contract. I also witnessed one of them opening one of the cat litter box on the floor. As I did not know what was going on, I decided to ask what the good deal was about that item. They told me that besides the sale price, a $5 gift coupon comes inside of each box.
I then decided to get one as well and open to see myself if the $5 gift coupon was inside as I know sometimes containers or bottles can be opened without breaking the seal. As I was opening the container, the 2 shoppers walked away leaving the opened container behind. Also, as I was opening the container, one of the store associates (Sara) walked by and shouted that I would not be able to use the gift coupon today anyways. Regardless of the rude way she approached me, I decided to place the gift coupon back inside of the container and get 3 other containers and continue to shop.
A few minutes later, the same associate (Sara) showed up in front of me to accuse me of opening a container she had with her and taking the gift coupon. I was shocked with her attitude. I tried to tell her that the container I did open was inside of my cart and that I was going to pay for it. She threatened to call her manager. I told her once again that she was making a mistake and that I did not care to have her manager talk with me. As I tried once again to continue shopping, associate Sara and her manager approached me and in front of a few customers, and she once again accused me of opening the container and taking the gift coupon. I was speechless and embarrassed with the whole situation.
I tried explaining once more to Sara and the manager that I was just making sure the coupon was in the container. However, associate Sara continued to humiliate me in front of the other customers. Her manager just tried to tell me that I would not be able to redeem the gift coupons today anyways. I wasn’t even interested in using the coupon at that time anyways. I was only checking to see that the coupon did actually come in the container as the other customers had told me.
I never felt so insulted and humiliated in my entire life. I am a good person who works hard. I would "never" allow myself to steal a $5 gift coupon. I left this store in tears and as a result, PetSmart has lost my business, and last but not least, PetSmart associate Sara and her manager seem to not have any customer service skills whatsoever. I worked for a pet food company as a demonstrator. We go to PetSmarts and Petcos, set our table up, walk around the aisles and talk to customers about our pet food in hopes to convert them. It's a 4-hour shift on weekends only. I've been working for this pet food company for almost 13 years. The PetSmart in Hot Springs just opened and I have been driving back and forth for well over a year to Little Rock and North Little Rock, AR to work my demos since right before I moved back to Hot Springs, my employer just hired someone for the Petco in Hot Springs.
So, when I heard that PetSmart was getting ready to open, I was so happy because the drive back and forth was wearing me and my vehicle out and I wasn't getting compensated for driving way more than anyone else. With gas prices going sky high, my drive was 1-1/2 hours one way there and back for a total of 3 hours each day Sat and Sun. It just wasn't worth it for me to keep working for them much longer if PetSmart didn't open soon. After pestering my boss letting me demo in H.S., she finally put me there every Saturday.
So, my 1st and only demo there, I walked in and noticed there was a girl that I recognized from NLR doing a demo just for the Grand Opening. I noticed this man, whom I asked if he was mgr or asst mgr and he said assistant mgr, I'm not sure how the name is spelled but its Arjourt or something close to it.He said the store is too small for another demonstrator to setup and I couldn't be there. That was fine with me since the store is very small. I had no problem going back home. Then he said kind of hateful that I could stay if I didn't put my table up but just walked around the store. I told him no problem. He said corporate didn't tell him about the demonstrators being there. I walked up and down the aisles and with in my 4 hours, I talked to 14 people with about 11 conversions. That following week, that assistant manager called my employer and made a formal complaint that I didn't talk to the customers, the other pet food girl made rings around me, and that I drank my water out in the store.
The other pet food girl never talked to anyone. She, in fact, told me she hated doing demos and didn't even want to be there. She didn't talk to 1 person. She was talking to the adoption people and texting on her cell phone in the aisles constantly. She had her water sitting on top of her table and drinking it along with soda. Because of that complaint from him, I resigned after all the years I've worked as a demonstrator. I have never had a complaint in my life. That man lied and is very unfriendly. I think this is a discrimination situation since that other demonstrator is 20 years younger than me and he just didn't want me there. I was willing to go home. I had no problem with him not wanting me there. With the economy as it is now, I really needed my 2nd job but thanks to him, he did nothing to lie, which was very wrong.

I have spent thousands of dollars at Petsmart, but I will no longer do business there. I locked my dog accidently in the car. The sun was out and we were driving in a black car, so I was worried she would suffer from heat stroke before I could get the car unlocked.
The manager of this Petsmart said they could not help me, although I only needed someone with skinny arm to reach in and push a button. One young man got in a heated argument with her about helping. She threatened his job. And when I asked for water to at least water my dog down with, she walked into the back to bring out bottled water which she wanted me to stand in line and pay for. I just threw the money at them, and walked out.
They did allow me to use the phone to call for a locksmith, which never showed. The vet did not bother to help as well. I think they would have been fine sitting there watching my dog die from heat. However, some nice young adults came to our rescue. I wish I had their names. The young lady took off her hoodie, pulled her shirt sleeves up, reached in and around and pop: she saved the day!
I wish she owned a pet business because I would be buying from her. Too bad, I am in charge of a dog walking group as well as volunteer with a dog service. They will lose a lot of money. And their reputation is shot because I plan on spreading the news about this lemon of a business.
For a place that prides itself on being dog-loving, they were going to watch my dog die! Oh, and by the way, just the week before this incident I heard the groomers yelling for the dogs to shut up! I had boarded my dog (a Lhasa Apso) at the Petsmart PetHotel on the 4th and 5th of September. When he was given back (I was abroad and my neighbors had taken him back), he had a big yellow stain on his back and he was stinking like garbage. Following this, my neighbors had to give him a bath since even their apartment started stinking.
I called the manager of the store and asked for an explanation, and he didn't even have the courtesy to say sorry! Instead he was trying to tell me that the dog was not neutered and so he had marked his own territory and hence he is stinking from his own urine! In fact, he was neutered and it was in their records, as he had stayed there once before (we had a bad experience even then). My dog has never passed urine in my house; he is very well house trained. In fact, he probably got into contact with some dog excreta and they never even bothered to take a look at him or wash him .
I told the manager that he was house trained and had been neutered. He was still repeating the same story as if he was a "tape recorder". He had the arrogance to tell me it was all my dog's fault. One more thing, they took extra money from me saying if I didn't pay the dog would be taken out only twice in 24 hours(!) and still he came covered in urine and feces. Obviously he was not taken out at all! I couldn't understand how Petsmart could be so bad and how could they employ such ignorant and pathetically arrogant people in their managerial positions.

The problem I have with Petsmart is this. When my dog was only a couple of months, we took him two separate times to get his nails clipped and filed. The first time, they only clipped them which was just fine because that is all I asked for. I stood there and watched while the lady did them and my dog yelped a little but for the most part behaved.
They evidently put this down in their computer because the second time we went there and I asked for them to file my dogs nails, they once again only clipped them but this time, the lady had two other women and the store manager hold my dog down. My dog is a Siberian Husky but at the time was only about 4 months old, so he wasn't very big and he was so petrified he yelped and cried for me but they wouldn't let me go behind the counter to calm him. I was so upset, I ended up in tears by the end and we haven't been back since.
As for Bansfield, it is a complete and utter rip off. According to the vets, there you can't find cheaper services. Well, I have talked to other dog owners and that is not true. I myself, am a wife of an Airman so I can take my dog to the base to get his shots and things. The other issue I have with them is I bought blue buffalo dog food which I heard from countless people including the vet at Bansfield, the food is great.
The vet didn't mention that a lot of dogs experience diarrhea on the stuff and if your dog gets diarrhea to just change the dog food. Results my dog had diarrhea for 4 months because I thought at first it was a food allergy from chicken or the rice. So, I switched flavors then I went to Bansfield. They told me, I would have to buy hypoallergenic food and they would need to do $400 in tests to check what was wrong with him. I passed on that option.
I instead tried not feeding him for a day then giving him food that was light on his stomach for a few days and gradually putting him back on the kibble.End result diarrhea. I then looked up the food and found diarrhea is a common occurrence and Blue Buffalo isn't as good as what the Bansfield vet told me it was.

I purchased this piece of junk from Petsmart. This thing is a scam! It does not work! I have four cats, that range from kitten to six years old. The only thing they used was the toy attached to it and they eat the catnip that came with it. They will not use the scratching board. Like I said, it is junk, and don't waste your money like I did. If you happen to catch the commercial for it, pay close attention! The emery board in the commercial does not have sand on it. It is just plain cardboard! A Liberal must have came up with this idea, because they are only good at wasting other people's money.

I would like to lodge a complaint on billing process and procedures at Banfield. I have two Bassett Hound dogs, Sarge and Sadie. Sarge has/had an account with PetSmart. I buy all my pet supplies, food, toys from PetSmart. I received and responded to my first notice to I.C. Systems to find out my account is in collections. The letter states I owe $228.35. Where as upon speaking to the I.C Rep, I owe for 4 months at $18 per month. I then tried to call PetSmart to resolve issue and pay any past due amounts. The PetSmart location in Summerville indicated they would waive re-enrollment into the Pet Care Program but I would owe full amount to be paid only to I.C System, Inc.
I was setup on automatic pay via my credit card. They alleged they could not bill against this card but cannot back up why they could not post the charge to my account. I understand that it is my responsibility to pay my bill at $18.95 per month which was set up on automatic payments against my Capital One MasterCard which always has sufficient balance to cover my automatic payments. I have several other accounts set up for automatic payments on this card: my son's college school ring, my Comcast cable provider, etc. I did not have any problems from the other auto pay bills nor did I ever receive a call or letter to tell me there was a problem billing against my credit card. .I take pride in my credit score and paying my bills on time. I find it hard to believe that PetSmart endorses these poor business practices at the expense of losing customers.
The collection rep indicates I really have no recourse of action. This is an issue of principal that I hope someone looks into for other customers. I value the service provided by the awesome vet staff. However, the billing and/or office management processes need to be assessed and re-vamped. If this issue is not resolved in my favor, I will choose to no longer do business with PetSmart. I will share my negative experience with all my friends, co-workers, family and anyone that will listen. I will also register a complaint with Better Business Bureau and Consumer Affairs.
Again, let me re-state, I am willing and able to pay what I should have owed based on the monthly charges and would like to continue my PetCare program with PetSmart. I do not think it is fair to send to collections without any attempt to notify client and then to up the charges based on usage. Sounds like no one cares and PetSmart make out. If you lose customers based on your slack business practices in the end will impact your business. Sincerely, Joyce ***

I purchased the Sentry XFT 61 from Petsmart due to it being cheaper than what I usually get which is Frontline. I have a 1 1/2 yr. old Great Pyrenees and a 5 yr.old Golden Retriever. I applied this "poison" to both dogs per the instructions supplied and within 10 minutes of application my Pyrenees started running around and trying to bite where I had applied this crap. He has been scratching uncontrollably for the last few hours. At this time I thought it might have been a rogue flea but I was using this "poison" as a preventative.
I jumped on the internet and tried to type in this and Sentry XFC popped up all over the screen with people experiencing the same symptoms as my dog. I immediately bathed both my dogs in Dawn detergent several times to rid my dogs of this. My dogs are still tearing away at themselves. I am on a very strict budget due to me losing my job and cannot afford a vet like before. Where is the R&D at Sentry? This product is highly toxic and someone should be held responsible. I feel that Sentry revised the original formula and still did not get it right. i looked all over the internet and found no one has posted anything on the new formula XFT 61. This product should be pulled from the shelves and Petsmart should have dropped the Sentry/ Sergeants line from their stores and should be held responsible due to them already knowing there is a problem.

On June 2, 2010 I took both my dogs (Holly, who is a 1 1/2 year old Bishon; and Brie, who is an 11 1/2 years old Shitzu) for grooming, haircut nails clipped, ears cleaned, etc. Total amount paid was $96. On June 11th Brie started to cough terribly and vomiting. My partner and I took her the vet and found out that she contracted kennel cough. Also that her ears were infected showing no signs of plucking or cleaning present. The vet stated that there is a 7 to 10 day period before a dog will come down with the symptoms of kennel cough. On Saturday June the 12th Holly also was displaying the same symptoms and off to the vet we went again. Total vet bill was $137.64. Our dogs are total inside dogs and have not contact with other dogs. The vet agreed that they contracted it through the Pet Smart visit.
We retuned to Pet Smart on 6/12 to explain the circumstances along with a letter from the vet explaining the symptoms of kennel cough and ear problems. We spoke to a manager who took a copy of the letter and said she needed to contact the corporate office and would return a call. On 6/14 the manager called back stating there was nothing they can do because I signed a release form. The issue is not only the dogs’ illnesses but when I brought them in they were very busy and I had 2 dogs in my arms and they threw a sheet of paper in front of me not even explaining what I was signing for. I was not given a copy of this form. I work in a retail environment which demands full disclosure and that it is understood by the consumer. We feel we were treated unjustly and that our dogs had to suffer through the negligence of this company. We can only wonder how many other dogs incurred the same illness.
No resolution with Pet Smart. They are blaming the consumer for their negligence by not reading the paper that was thrown at them with no explanation as to what was being signed. We incurred $137.64 in vet bills, lost one day of work and have had sleepless nights of hoping the dogs would recoup. Brie is still showing some symptoms a week later and am worried because of her age. This could be deadly if not cured. I am most upset that there was not even an apology of admittance of any wrong doing on their end.

So I took my dog Molly in on a Thursday at 10:30 am. The girl on the phone did not sound too busy, so she said bring her down anytime. I suggested 10:30 am; I walked in and they seemed to be moderately busy I was filling out my paper work and specifically told the older woman my husband’s number (the one they have on file) was changed. So I gave them my number since I was the one picking my dog up. I wrote it on my paperwork in big letters with my name. They took my dog and I left. 3 and 1/2 hours later I call to check on Molly and they told me she would be done at 2:30 and that they would call.
I never received a phone call so around 3:45 I drove to PetSmart to see what was happening with my dog? No one said anything to me when I walked in at first; then about 3-5 min later a girl drinking a water bottle said can I help you"? I said yes I'm here for my dog is she ready? She said "yes we called you". I asked her what number they called. Well they called the specific number I told them not to call because it was not in service. They never listened to me or looked at the sheet or entered an updated phone number for me.
My dog sat at PetSmart for almost 6 hours because someone couldn’t take the time to type 7 digits into the computer. Then I see my dog and no one speaks to me, I get handed my dog over the gate and the girl says here you go very rudely. No one took responsibility for the phone number problem I felt as if it was my fault. Then I finally check out upset and irritated, and leave with my dog and not happy with her grooming at all. She sat there for almost 6 hours and her head was a mess, and her tail didn't even look as if it was touched! I called the store manager and she offers me to take my dog half way across town to have them fix her. At this point just wanted a refund, and that was never offered to me, nor was I feeling like I was being taken seriously, yet again. I'm not happy I paid $50 dollars to have my dog sit in a kennel for the whole day while they did a halfway job. Please be aware if you decide to take your pet into a PetSmart grooming center. I will not be going back. I spent $50 I am on a budget, and felt as if I should have received a refund.

First off, I want to say every experience with the dog grooming at the PetSmart we normally visit was great. We live on the north-side and normally take our little dog to one over here, but we happened to be on the south-side and said, well why not. So we came to this one to get his nails cut.
When we came in, I said that I needed his nails cut and the guy didn't even look at me just started writing the bill up on the computer. My dog usually get a tiny nervous when we take him in so he peed on the floor. My boyfriend’s mother then asked the guy if he had a paper-towel to clean it up. He didn't even look at her, just smashes it into her hand. Of course, that wasn't enough so she says "do you have any more?" And he says, "no, I do not, your going have to go out into the store and find it yourself," which I thought was rude.
When it comes time to hand over my little Oscar to the guy he yanks his leash out of my hand does say "here" or anything polite. He gets Oscar on the table and this is where it gets bad. Every time we've ever taken him the person cutting his nails usually talks to him nicely, pets him and then starts cutting his nails. That is the proper way. Oscar never struggles or gets scared. The guy puts him on the table and instead of putting his arm under his belly and doing each paw; he stands him on the table on his back legs with a collar around his neck standing him up. I'm thinking, “Where the ** did you learn to cut nails that are not how you cut them.”
Next thing I hear is my dog yelping, crying and squirming because the guy cuts Oscar’s poor paws down past where the quick is (vein inside of a dogs nails). At this point, Oscar is terrified and keeps squirming and yelping. I then physically see the guy slap him and yell "shut up" to my dog! I'm ** so I say "Excuse me!" only to be ignored!
The guy then proceeds to cut my dogs nails past the nerve on every single nail and ignores me every time I say something and tells my dog to shut up three more times. My dog almost fell off the table 3 times which with that leash they put around his neck could have killed him. Oscar was so scared he pooped on the guy and the guy says "I'm so tired of these **dogs."
Hey PetSmart, how about a tip! Don’t hire guys that don’t like animals! My dog is now going to be terrified to go and get his nails cut and he can barely walk around now because his paws are so tender!

I brought my 6-month old golden retriever into the Falls Church, VA location to be groomed on March 22nd, 2010. I dropped her off at 11:00 a.m. for an appointment at 1:00 p.m. I discussed with the groomer what services I would like done, specifically detailing the cut and feathering for her breed. I received a phone call at 5:00 p.m. saying she was ready to go home. I arrived a little after 5:00 to find she was still wet--not just damp, but parts of her fur were visibly wet. And for lack of better description, Moxie looked like she had the mange! It was apparent to me that whoever groomed her was not adept at using their equipment, nor were they familiar with grooming standards for her breed.
In the past I have taken Moxie to a golden retriever breeder/groomer to be clipped, and for $35 she comes out looking ready for the show ring. I paid the PetSmart groomers $80 to have her come out looking like she was attacked with a pair of blunt garden shears. Never again! Ridiculously high prices for terrible amateur service. I told her to take it off because I was not going to buy it because it was way higher than the case price, which was on sale for $7.99. She finally took off the single can charges and finally scanned in the case. She was rude because of this.
Warning, they are told to do this, so PetSmart can make even more money off of the people.

I started taking my Cocker Spaniel mix to PetSmart to get his hair cut after a bad experience with PetCo. On Saturday, November 14, 2009, we dropped Zeus off at 7:30 am to have him shaved. The grooming salon said he would be ready around 1 pm. At 1 pm, I called to see if he was ready, knowing that they are always busy on Saturdays. Manuel, the person working on my dog, told me he would be ready around 1:45 pm. When my husband and I arrived at 1:50 pm, Zeus was still not ready. His body had been shaved and Manuel was still working on his legs/paws. His tail and head had not been cut yet. We took the payment paper and proceeded to the register to pay and wait until he was finished.
After waiting at the PetSmart store for an entire hour, Zeus was returned to us, looking like a lion! They had not cut his head, ears, or tail. He was in care of the PetSmart grooming salon for a total of 7 hours and was not "shaved" when he was given back to us. Only his body and legs had been cut. My husband proceeded back into the grooming salon after a few minutes to see what could be done about this. The store manager, Chris, and the salon manager, Manny, proceeded to explain to my husband that my dog bit the groomer 7 times, that he wouldn't sit still while his legs were cut, and he was very hyperactive. They told my husband that it was his fault for bringing Zeus to the salon on a 'busy Saturday, when there were pet adoptions'. When my husband asked why he was making a fuss about his legs being cut, did they not stop cutting his legs and cut his head/ears/tail, they had no response.
When my husband asked why my dog was not taken off the grooming table and we were not contacted after the first time our dog 'bit' the groomer, they had no response. I have taken my dog there every 3-5 months for the past few years to get the very same haircut that I did today with no problem. As we were in the car on the way home, I called the store to get a district manager's phone number because I did not deem that a $23.50 refund from a $47.00 incomplete haircut was a good fix to my problem. When Chris, the store manager, who my husband had just talked to, picked up my call, he proceeded to tell me that he "understood" why I was upset but had nothing to tell me as to how he was going to fix my problem. I was on the phone with Chris for a total of 15 minutes where I was told that I had no reason to be upset and that I could bring my dog back to wait for him to be cut again.
When I asked why that wasn't done when I went back into the salon after immediately picking up Zeus, he again, had no response. I was told by Chris that I was not giving him a chance to talk. He proceeded to explain to me my husband only asked for half of his money back, which is not true. When I asked what was going to be done about the employees in the salon that obviously could not do their complete job in a 7-hour period, he said nothing. I then realized that I would be taking my dog elsewhere from now on. After letting him say what he needed to, he reluctantly gave me the district manager's phone number, asking me why I wanted to contact him at all.
I told Chris, as most dog owners would, that having my dog sit in a cage for at least 5 hours without food, water, or being taken to the bathroom was unnecessary and I would not let happen to him again. He then told me that my dog was "being worked on the entire time he was there." All in all, PetSmart is a good company, but they have very bad people running it, who do not have customer service skills whatsoever. I do all of my pet shopping there, and will try a different PetSmart store from now on.

I have 10 cats and feed a colony of 20 on a daily basis, so I spend quite a bit of money on pet supplies (over $1,200 a month). For a couple of months, I've noticed that the Petsmart store that I go to has been selling and displaying chocolate candy on low racks at the cash registers. I understand that they are marketing this candy to children so they want it to be displayed at a child's height; but in doing so, the chocolate candy is also easily accessible to dogs that are brought into the store by customers. It is well-known that chocolate, even in small amounts, can be deadly to animals; and dogs are known to have a sweet tooth and can easily tear through wrappings to get at food.
On one occasion, I spoke with the manager on duty and told him of my concerns. I thought it was highly inappropriate and irresponsible to display an item that was poisonous to their customer-base (animals) at an accessible level that tempts them. I was told by this manager that it was the responsibility of the dog owners to make sure their dogs don't eat the candy. I told him that like children, it only takes a split-second for something to happen, even under watch by a parent, and that is why companies are often sued by people for injuries/illnesses suffered from their neglect. He told me that there was nothing that could be done about it.
I then wrote to, and called Corporate Headquarters, and they emailed me that they have never had an incident at any of the Petsmart stores that sell and display chocolate candy, and that while they appreciate my concern, they couldn’t promise that the candy would be removed from their shelves. I would like everyone to be aware, not only to monitor their dogs at the registers to make sure they don't sneak this candy, but also to say that, if anything unfortunate does happen to your pet because of Petsmart's inaction and you want to hold them legally responsible, you will know that Petsmart was fully aware of the potential danger and failed to act to correct it. I'm so upset at them. How much money can they possibly make off candy for children that they think it is worth the danger they pose to their canine customers?

In September 2009, I purchased a total of 5 Nutro Natural Choice Complete Care Adult cat food. This food was on the "clearance" aisle in Petsmart. It also had a $3.00 off coupon, making the food normally $14.00 down to $3.00 a bag. Looking to save some money, I bought 5 bags. Previously to the change in food, our 4-year-old cat was in perfect health. Within a few days of eating the food, Jack began acting odd. One night he was walking in circles and seemed to be blind. We called Banfield pet hospital at Petsmart and they suggested we take Jack to a pet ER. We did that and took him to Animal Health Services. The vets were completely stunned. They asked if he had gotten into any poison.
His behavior was that of an animal that was poisoned. We said no. They decided to treat him for toxoplasmosis and put him on high dose antibiotics. We continued the food (we had no reason not to) and his meds. He continued to lose a large amount of weight and throw up. He went from doing OK, to gravely ill. He turned yellow and became very, very sick. We rushed him to Banfield again. They did not know what was wrong and again wanted to do many, many tests. We agreed to a basic blood test that showed his liver enzymes very high, indicating liver failure. We waited at the hospital for over 4 hours and had them hydrate him and took him home. The vet did not speak very good English and seemed very overwhelmed with all the other patients and did not take much time with us.
The next day, we called the first vet to explain the results and what was going on. Again, up to this point, no one knew what was wrong. We were preparing to have to euthanize our kitty as no one could pin point why his 4-year-old liver was failing. Then it hit me. None of this started until we switched to the Nutro food. It was my husband who said, “Do you think it has anything to do with it?" I googled the food name. Sure enough, Petsmart had sold us a bag of the recalled cat food, 6 months after it has been recalled due to high zinc levels. Not only did they not remove the food from the shelf, they “clearanced” the remaining bags. Had I not have really researched this, our cat would have been euthanized.
I immediately called the vet and we went in. They were not aware of the recall. I had printed in all the FDA and Nutro information and brought it in. I also explained we had a bag that he had eaten that matched the lot#/ date/ UPC code recalled. His symptoms were exactly the same as the others who had the zinc poisoning. We had been unknowingly poisoning our cat with this tainted food. We are now on the long haul with our kitty. We are doing IV treatments at home. Special food and medication. His outcome is unknown.

Recently, we went to Petsmart in search of a healthy pet food for our 4 dogs as they were getting very healthy looking and we wanted to see if we could slim down their weight. The clerk recommended Petsmart's Nutro Max Weight Control brand. She gave us specific instructions on how to slowly wean them from the old food to the new food so they don't upset their digestive system. So we did. Within a couple of weeks, my husband made a comment to me that he thought our outside dog, Dottie, probably wasn't going to live much longer. He said she wasn't moving around too good and seemed like she was in pain. That same week our youngest dog, Cali, an Australian Shepherd began throwing up her food daily.
The next week, our Beagle woke me up in the night panting as if she was in pain and shaking. The next morning, we took her to the vet. He gave her an antibiotic and said her lymph nodes were swollen. Again the next night, she had the same problems. I finally realized the dogs' food was now mainly Nutro Max Weight control. They were getting sick from their new food. We have now switched their food back to what they were using previously and are hoping they will get better soon.

My adoption group, GreyHeart Greyhound Rescue and Adoption of Michigan, has been setting up a small table and bringing volunteers and their retired racing greyhounds into the PetsMart store in Commerce Township, Michigan, on the last Sunday of each month for approximately two years. This arrangement has been established and agreed upon by the store manager, Sean, since we began. This year, on October 25, upon arrival, we were told by the manager on duty, Michelle **, that we were not allowed to set up. The store has changed its policy; and we were not, in fact, welcome inside the store, outside in front of the store, or anywhere on the premises.
Only adoption groups who file their paperwork through PetsMart (aka give them a "cut" of the adoption fee) are allowed in their stores or on their property. They claim to have called our toll-free phone number to inform us of this policy change; however, that line is maintained daily, and no one on our end has any knowledge of this call. Our Meet & Greet coordinator was frantic after advertising in the local papers for over a month and lining up an extra-large crew, complete with seasonally appropriate Halloween costumed greys, to really show off our hounds and promote fostering and adoption in these months preceding the anticipated closure of the Dairyland race track in Wisconsin where 700 greyhounds will be homeless soon.
Thankfully, a nearby store manager did have enough compassion to make some phone calls to upper management and accommodate our last minute tearful request to set up outside their storefront. It worked out as well as if it had been planned that way; the sun came out and made it warm enough to stand outside; we had hounds in costume in front of a Halloween USA store where the family foot traffic was constant and our family friendly dogs stole many hearts. Some of our volunteers were more than willing to share our story of the uncharitable PetsMart, and at least one customer was overheard to say that today would be the last time she made a purchase from PetsMart. I personally had planned to take advantage of the last day of the Iams sale, but after this experience, I decided to take my business elsewhere, permanently.
We were, to say the least, stunned and appalled at the apathy and uncooperative nature of the store and its management staff. It was an unfortunate incident, and as you know, good news travels fast and bad news even faster. Greyhound owners spend a lot on their pets; they are sweet good-natured dogs who "dress up" well and are known to be big eaters. I personally buy at least one large bag of kibble a month, plus an assortment of chews, toys, and treats. Rest assured it will not be from PetsMart.

After numerous attempts, I told the cashier she will have to enter my CC information manually. She said she could no longer do that. I asked why and she replied that PetSmart no longer allows them to enter CC info by hand. It can only be scanned. I then spoke to the manager and his response was, "It's for the customer’s safety.”
I asked, "How is this for my safety? If there was any question about who owns the CC, I would expect you to look at my driver’s license." I was ready to walk out and leave them my order to put back on the shelf, but I decided to use my American Express card instead to make the purchase. I told the manager, "PetSmart isn't being very people-smart in their customer service, so in the future I would be taking my business elsewhere." He could have cared less and didn't even give an apology for the inconvenience. I've never heard of a store not allowing a CC number to be manually inputted into their system so a customer would be able to conclude their purchase. All I can say is: PetSmart, you've just lost a good paying customer.

Our beloved Basset Hound, Lilly Mae, whom we have had since she was 9 weeks old, had been behaving odd for a few weeks. Then she took a sudden and dramatic turn. She began demonstrating "dying behavior" and was obviously in great discomfort. We were signed up with Banfield and were using the PetSmart location on FM1960, so we took her in expecting to end her suffering and to say goodbye to a dear family member. Instead, the vet offered us $600.00 worth of testing and medicine to find out what was wrong with her. It was as if she (the vet) was totally blind to what was right in front of her. We said we thought she was dying. The vet said, "Well, we don't know what's wrong with her, do we?" in a very condescending voice.
The only one who didn't know what was going on was this vet. We opted to get a second opinion. Lilly Mae had to endure another 24 hours of pain and discomfort before we could get her to another local vet (My Family Vet, 20120 Kuykendahl Rd. Spring, TX. 281-288-0500), which after a brief exam and no tests, told us what we already knew and in what I can only describe as a reaffirming and spiritual ceremony, ended Lilly Mae's suffering. It goes without saying they are our new vet. I guess all pet owners feel a certain amount of guilt with the passing of their pet. Ours is that we took our cherished family member to a "Little Shop of Horrors" in her final moments. This is our warning to other pet owners. Stay away from Banfield/PetSmart on FM 1960 in Houston, TX.

I brought my dog in to stay at the PetSmart "hotel" (more properly named "Prison" for the tiny cages and abuse that goes on there). My dog was taken to the vet a few weeks earlier and was given a clean bill of health. When I went to pick up Butchie (my dog), he immediately ran out of PetSmart like he was terrified. I immediately noticed a severe limp in both of his hind legs and, in particular, his right hind leg.
When I got him home, he could barely put any weight on his hind legs and would fall over in even trying to go to the bathroom. He could not climb the stairs, and I had to carry him up and down. On our normal walk, he would stumble and flop back and forth, like he had either no strength in his back legs or has a more serious injury. I immediately called my vet to tell them of the situation. I have an appointment to see the vet the next day. I will keep you posted if anything serious develops. I am an attorney and will sue PetSmart and contact PETA if I discover any injury to my dog and if I discover that abuse is taking place at the PetSmart Hotel.

I have had a Littermaid Basic model since December 2000 with 2 cats using it and it's been great. It has plastic tines. The wire broke about 2 years ago and I disassembled the whole unit and soldered them back together and they just separated again. I thought a new unit was due and was about to purchase their Elite model with tent, etc., and came across this site and am a little concerned about buying it online. Are there any alternatives to this brand?

On Sunday, July 12, 2009, I took my five-year old English Setter to his grooming appointment at 12pm. They said he would be finished at 4pm. I arrived back at 4 and was told it would take another 30 minutes, so I left and had to go back. I waited for a little while for someone to come out and help me and I witnessed a groomer pretty much abusing a dog. She was trying to cut his nails and he was pulling away (as expected) and at one point, he fell off the table and she yanked him back up by his throat and continued to pull and yank on his paws brutally. When Willis, my dog, was returned to me, I noticed he had a horribly uneven cut, and that there were some really long hairs that the groomer missed. Instead of complaining, I just paid and decided I would try to fix his fur when I got home.
Well, when I got home, he ran to his water dish like he didn't have a drink for four hours. Then, I grabbed a pair of scissors and started to clip the random hair the groomer missed and I saw a bunch of fleas on his bottom! My dog did not have fleas when I dropped him off! In fact, he has never had fleas! I knew he caught them at PetSmart. When I contacted the store, and finally got in touch with the manager the next day, they offered me a free flea bath after I already went to a different store as soon as I saw the fleas and treated him with $30 worth of over-the-counter remedies. What is a free flea bath going to do? Make it so that he has to sit in a cage for six hours while he dries and doesn't eat or drink anything? Then, he might catch some other insect infestation or disease from the unsanitary facility? No thanks. They also missed some of his nails. Some of them weren't even filed down. I will never have my dog groomed at PetSmart or purchase any of their products again.

I boarded my dog here and asked when I dropped him off that he be ready once I return. I would like him to get a bath before coming home. I told them I would call them from the airport and to start the bath at that time. They agreed. I called to check up on him 7 days later and found out they lost his food bag. No one called to notify me of this. I was told at the 11th hour and they had to feed him a food he is not normally fed (something which vets don’t recommend). I was upset that had I not called, would anyone call me? Then they told me the bone I purchased him that was still in its packaging was never given to him the entire stay. The person on the phone was unhelpful and said they had "high school kids work there" as if that’s supposed to make me feel good about leaving my dog in their care.
Then the next day, I called from the airport and they said the dog would be ready in 20 minutes. I got there 30 minutes later to allow for more time and they said the dogs bath was never even started and to come back in 30 more minutes. They had me waste a trip out there for nothing. So I drove away and they call when I'm almost home (6 minutes later) saying the dog is now ready. How could they give him a bath and dry him in 6 minutes? I asked for some compensation, but the store manager said all I get was a free bath. I don’t feel that’s sufficient. I have called the corporate offices many, many times to not receive a phone call back. The manager told me over the phone, no one would reply.
