A year ago, my dog was losing a lot of fur and had diarrhea, after finding positive Google reviews I made a purchase. Every month to follow, my dog's condition didn't get better. Every month we were taking him to the vet for an allergy shot. In February, he started to get small abscess on his groin area, we took him to the vet another shot. In May 2022, he started there was purulent coming from his abscess, he could no longer walk. It had spread all over his body and lost pretty much all his hair, his lips were bleeding. We took him to the vet, allergy shot, antibiotics and **. His condition kept getting worse. This became a monthly routine with him. He has lost so much weight, he couldn't walk to his food bowl.

His vet put him on a restricted Hills diet because she truly believes Hungry Bark caused this. We looked this profile, it's basic duck and turkey. Nothing special. We ordered his Hills Diet which came the very next day. The night before his vet visit, I had placed an order for his food, I sent an email to cancel it the next morning at 11 am. I heard no response. To get to anyone in their customer service is like pulling teeth. I got a hold of someone finally yesterday October 5. I explained I tried to cancel the order online and it wouldn't let me.

"Your order has been shipped." For a special order you are telling me you made his food overnight. They don't special order make anything. There is nothing special they do. They print a bag with your dog's name on it and fill it. The CSR told me, "Our food has a long shelf life, you can give it to him once he is better." This idiot couldn't comprehend the fact he is ALLERGIC to your FOOD. Why would I give it to him again after spending $4800 in vet bills since March and over $6000 in the past year.

They don't care about your pet, they have no knowledge of food allergies. The manager said she never received an email; but She is responding to me on an email I sent out less than 12 hours after placing the order. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM!! If your dog has food allergies talk to your vet for recommendation. WORST MISTAKE OF EVER GIVING THEM BUSINESS.

I've got a rescue Catahoula Leopard Dog at 2-3 yrs old when I got her. I tried various kibble because apparently her digestive system was sensitive. Her stomach would make the most horrible noises after eating and she would fart a lot. And many many times she would run out the door and eat grass like a goat. I felt she needed probiotics. So I got her a custom easy to digest kibble at Hungry Bark and she loves it. I also got the sprinkle on probiotics...but I don't use that all the time. She gobbles up the kibble even without that. Guess what..she's been on Hungry Bark for a while now and NO wild stomach noises and farting anymore. Her coat is shiny and she is a healthy girl!

If I could give 0 stars, I would. My dogs are very picky and to them, the food was meh but they will eat it because it was all they were going to get but they took their time but didn't rush to it. I even bought the beef protein mix that their website claims they will devour and love but mine did not and two dogs that I was watching threw it up. I have an unopened bag that I would like to return and I contacted their representatives through the chat and phone options and asked if I can return it and get my money back and their response was "Because of its personalized nature of the custom meal plan item, they cannot accept it".

MY question is...HOW is it customized when I can go to their website as a guest and click the button down for a large bag of beef protein mix and it will ship to me and it will look EXACTLY like the one I have that I am trying to return.... There is nothing about adding anything specific to my dog as they are sold as separate entities. If I compare the ingredients and the serving of the bag I have and the new bag that I order without a profile on their account, IT WILL MORE THAN LIKELY BE THE SAME and not tailored to my dog. The customer rep on chat could not answer my question about how it is customized and said a manager will get back to me....

Also... their guarantee states as written on their website "we offer a 100% refund if your dogs don’t love them on their first try! In the rare case you or your dog aren’t thrilled with our products, you can request a refund here, or reach out to our Customer Service agents who will be happy to address your concerns. You’ll receive a 100% refund on your purchase price, and, if you bought multiple bags, just send us the rest back unopened. We’ll take care of the rest." I SAY THIS IS A FLAT-OUT LIE!. I cannot even return a stock item of a bag of protein mix in that they sell by small, med, large on their shopping side of the website that asks for no customization but they are saying that you accept the personalized dog food that people request? How does that make sense!??

I was not even asking for a return of the dog food that I did have customized for my dogs even though they didn't "LOVE IT" but they won't let me return something that they claim to be "personalized". I just went to their website as incognito tab and didn't sign in and just went to their shop option and clicked a size small of the beef mix into my cart and now it's asking for my money.... This is where my main confusion lies... You accept customized dog food returns but because the mix I bought is "Customized" you can't accept it? I do not recommend this company at all, I do not trust them and will never order from them.

My vet actually recommended this company after I told her I've been struggling to find a dog food brand that actually cares about MY dog's unique needs. Almost all the brands on the market today offer a "one size fits all" diet - which is a shame because just like humans, every dog has their own dietary needs. Hungry Bark broke that traditional "one size fits all" mold and offered the personalized diet I was looking for. My Golden Retriever isn't extremely picky, but she is considered senior and does need a little extra digestive and joint support than most dogs. She seems to have really taken to the food, and so happy now that I know she's getting the proper nutrients to help her thrive.

It's always been a struggle making changes into my dog's diet, however the step by step transition provided by Hungry Bark really helped me with introducing my dog to a healthier dog food option. My dog seems to be satisfied with the food and I have seen an improvement in her energy levels. The best part about the service is that it is automatic and I don't have to worry about re ordering. Would definitely recommend trying this out.

I've been having issues trying to find the right food for my Bentley. He's super picky and also suffering from a number of allergies. Every food I tried seemed to cause some new complicated. I decided to go the custom route and get a more personalized meal plan for Bentley based on his allergies and unique issues. So happy my vet mentioned Hungry Bark because it's been a game changer for me. Bentley is doing better, I'm doing better and really happy I found the company as they did all the guesswork for me. Definitely recommend trying their meal planner and seeing for yourself.

My dog is just doing so well on so many fronts. He looks younger, acts younger, his coat is glowing. The most amazing part is he has stopped licking his paws from allergies. I feel great to see this but also guilty I didn't find you guys earlier. Thank you for making my dog happier!

Today I received a full refund from Hungry Bark! I gave it 3 stars because they came through; but only after I filed a dispute through PayPal. When I contacted them directly at the outset they refused.

    Original review: April 15, 2021

Updated on 04/16/2021: I ordered custom kibble for my dog on April 1, 2021 with an interval of 4 weeks for subsequent orders. After meticulously following the steps they recommended in introducing their kibbles to my dog, in the end my dog didn’t like it. I was going to cancel future orders but I thought I had 2 weeks to do so before they send the next batch. Today, 2 weeks later they charged me for the next batch which they said had been processed already! Two weeks early??? This is very poor customer service. Also, in response to another reviewer Hungry Bark said that they would refund the reviewer’s first order of custom kibble. In my case they said they wouldn’t because it was custom order! Very disappointed.

Original Review: Beware before you buy anything from Hungry Bark. They will not refund your first purchase because what you bought (and you are cleverly led to it) is “custom.” My dog didn’t like his food. On their website it says that they will refund your first order within 30 days if your dog doesn’t like the food.

So I decided to try this product, ordered on March 21st and did not receive the shipment until April 6th at 12:32pm. April 7th I tried the product with my dogs. They went on a so called hunger strike for the next 4 days. The day after I received my first shipment (no time to try product) the company auto shipped another order and charged me $111.13. I have not even tried the product. I called FedEx to stop the shipment and they said that the shipment can only be stoped by the Hungry Bark. Hungry Bark refused to do anything and requested that I just donate the $111.13 worth of dog food to a charity.

Here is Bruce's response from Hungry Bark:

"As for returning the items, the agent whom you spoke with earlier was correct that we can only refund the first order of a Custom Meal Plan. We've gone ahead and done that and stopped your subscription, however we cannot refund the second one as well so there is no reason to refuse the delivery. Since the food would only go to waste if you returned the shipment, if you will not use we recommend donating it to your local shelter.

Please let me know if you would like to try one of our other recipes and I'd be happy to send that long with a free mix-in.

    Sincerely,
    Bruce

Your Hungry Bark Customer Experience Team"
