My cat has had diarrhea watery for a long time. I did not know it was Friskies until I got something else. It's not diarrhea watery, it's sold so please fix your food trouble. It's watery food to much watery stuff in it use to be. We get the gravy now. Nope watery. I am sorry I put cat through this because of the trust I had for this brand that is hurting cat's belly. It's cat food I can get over looks but watery needs fixed. He will eat friskies and a second later hard food. He did not do that before. Please fix

I have a very finicky eater and when I found the Lil' Gravies and he liked it, I was ecstatic. But now, you have changed the recipe and he refuses to eat it, not even the feral cat outside will eat it. The smell is horrible. I would not recommend this product to anyone and I will not be buying it anymore. Are you guys cutting corners to save money, at the expense for our cats. Shame on you Friskies.

I have been using Friskies salmon dinner with no problem but then I gave my cat friskies saucy seafood bake indoor meaty bits with greens wet food and my cat started sneezing uncontrollable many times in day after feedings. I finally figured after stopping it for one week no sneezing then back on it and sneezing began all over again and my cat became lethargic! I then knew it was this food! Buyer beware if cat begins to sneeze, it's allergy to an ingredient in it. Not sure of other indoor foods!

I've lost 3 of my cats (3-4 yrs ago)... The first one the vet said was Felv. The other 2 I assumed the same. Now reading these comments I'm not too sure.. I've noticed all my healthy kitties are vomiting every time they eat their Friskies dry food. We switched the flavor (still Friskies) and the same. It started with my senior kitty I found outside a year or 2 ago, I brushed it off because I know he's old. But now it's concerning... My poor cats are all vomiting. (2, 3, 15+ yr olds) I can't see it being anything else. It happens within 30 minutes of eating. Looking back, my babies that passes were vomiting too beforehand... Reading these comments confirms that I will NOT be buying Friskies again. I'll spend the extra $ to keep my babies healthy.

I have 19 cats that I feed with this food. Inside and outside. They smell it and walk away. Something has changed. The label and color of food. I pay .078 cents per can and open 22 cans a day. Then I wind up trashing all left overs. I have cats that died. Maybe this is why. There is a number on can that I am going to call to see what they say.

My young male cat got suddenly sick and passed within hours. Vets told me it's the Friskies I fed him. Caused some kind of crystals in his urethra, which caused a clog or infection. If this is has rampant as the vets said. Why is this not told to everyone? They said another one year old male died the same way earlier in the day. Thank you Friskies for taking a beloved family member from us.

Like a lot of cat foods that put absolute 💩 in their products this one has gotten worse as reviews tell that story. I see this cat food has nothing but bad absolute disgusting ratings. My cat is throwing up eating this garbage lately whereas she didn't before. I don't know what they did to it but I hope you lose a lot of customers selling this crap. Bought this stuff forever. Now it's over. Switching cat foods. Keep selling this crap and see what happens. Again, I've never seen so many bad reviews on any cat food in my life. Good job Friskies. You suck.

My cats have been eating Friskies since they were a month old. Suddenly, after 12 years, one by one, they have been vomiting all of their food for days on end. It was after a $800 vet visit, lab work, x-rays, liquid IV, anti-nausea medication and antibiotics, that I realized Friskies was poisoning them. Their liver enzymes aren’t good, there’s gas in their intestines, etc. my vet is certain, it’s something they are eating. I only put 2 and 2 together when all THREE cats were vomiting.
They won’t go near the food anymore. One of my cats lost a pound in a MONTH. They can’t keep food down anymore. They’re hungry, but are smart enough not to eat the food. I’m very fortunate that I’ve caught it in time. However, my mother’s cat has cancer. I can’t definitively say that was caused by Friskies, but I’d bet my money on it if I could prove it. I never wanted to give my cats this food in the first place (because I’ve always known. It’s terrible food), but money is tight. I’m so sorry for all of you who have lost your cats.

But now the flavor & color of the food is much the same. For example, Salmon pate had a salmon color, now is pale & like a lot of the other pâtés. Beef & Salmon filets used to have a beefy color, my cats loved it. It now doesn’t have the color or the flavor, my cats won’t eat it. And the filets are now huge chunks, I have to try & cut or mash them, cats can’t eat them! I don’t want to change foods, but I can’t afford the waste of them not eating it now. Please go back to the previous recipes for all the wet food.

Friskies, “Gravy Swirlers,” dry food customer here. Been feeding the babies this for over six months now with little to no concerns (even the sensitive stomach baby didn’t have issues with it) until this most recent bag (16lb). For some reason they won’t go near it for most meals, and if they do eat it, they’re either vomiting it up, having loose stool, or both…like en mass…not just one cat…each of them. Frankly, I’ve noticed that even the feral strays that had no problems with this food before are all of a sudden walking away from it or only eating the wet food I put on top and barely touching the dry. Something seems SERiously off about this food right now, and I don’t know what they’ve changed, but whatever the difference(s) in their process(es) is/are, it’s wreaking havoc on the fur babies. Perhaps it’d be prudent to consider a different brand for now. =/

I have come to have 7 cats in total. Three are indoor/outdoor. In the past few months the cats have not been wanting to eat the Friskies food, which is what we have always used. At first I chalked it up to the outside cats hunting and eating and then not being hungry, until I realized it was all of the cats avoiding the food. They walk away from it most times, and I notice vomiting in them all which is unusual. This review asks for a receipt to make you a verified buyer. If I had kept all the receipts of purchases of Friskies wet cat food, it could be made into a book.

We have rescued and socialized ferals for quite some time. Have mostly always fed them Friskies canned cat food, all varieties, as well as Purina Indoor dry food and Purina One hairball formula. Currently almost all of our cats (double digits) have been throwing up. This has never happened before and is troublesome. We buy big boxes at BJs and the rest from PetSmart and Walmart. We recently noticed that the new packaging claimed there were no artificial colors and the beef shredded is no longer brown and in fact all shreds look the same now. I know it sounds weird but what if the removal involved some process that is making them sick? And not just beef. The Pate color is just about all the same and the texture is different too. So we’re at a loss right now not knowing if it’s happening to others out there. So right now I wouldn’t recommend Friskies canned.

I've had 2 cats get sick from eating Friskies variety pack pate Friskies cat food. The 1st cat got very ill, horrible stools and very smelly. I had the vet run 2 kinds of special stool samples trying to pin down the cause. The food smelled ok. But my cat was so sick even antibiotics and probiotics didn't help. Now my other cat is starting to show the same symptoms, runny stools that smell horrible. He's refusing to eat the food, even though it looks fine and has no bad odor. I can't go through the heartache of losing another, so I will no longer feed or buy this brand again. Something is obviously wrong with this food and I think it should be tested before other cats become ill.

Two days later she was lethargic and had bloody diarrheal which has gotten worse and worse. She may not make it at this point. Multiple organs in her digestive system have severe issues and she is now fighting for her life on 6 different meds. Right before she ate the Friskies she was running around and playing. CHECK THE SERIAL NUMBERS ON YOUR WET CAT FOOD. I have multiple cats, and we rarely buy 40 pack of wet food for the cats, but recently got some for free because of the fact that we're now fostering kittens. Two years ago, we also had a few cans from a 40 pack. Friskies wet cat food made him extremely lethargic, and he drooled everywhere. out of worry, we tried to keep him comfortable and try to figure out what happened. He passed away the same day. Then, yesterday, we fed our cats these 'treats' again, which made my male cat sick and lethargic. We're still keeping an eye on him, as he made it through the night without many complications. My other cats seem to be alright, acting like normal, but i have already lost one cat to the wet food this company sells, and will not ever be purchasing ANYTHING from friskies again.
TLDR; friskies wet cat food killed one of my cats, and almost killed another. Do NOT purchase any cans with a serial number of 1159 or 1157. PLEASE.

Not to mention my cat throws up immediately after eating this food. It had gotten to the point that he would smell the food in his bowl and walk away. This coming from a cat who is usually very excited to eat! I am disappointed in this food. I have stopped feeding it to my cat even though I have nearly 2 cases of this junk food left. In the recent orders, and purchase in store the canned food consistency has changed. The only way to describe it is like a snotty texture. The cats (and there are 15) used to wait on my feet, now I have to try coaxing them to eat. If I put it down they walk off. I have fed my cats Friskies canned cat food for more than 10 years and never had a problem until now. They are both good eaters and I am careful with their food, always keeping opened cans in the refrigerator etc. However, I opened and fed them a new can of Chicken Dinner Pate and only one cat ate it. He threw up minutes later. I thought it could be a hairball. I also put a half teaspoon on my 14 y.o. dog's food. Sometimes her appetite is not so good, so I use the Friskies cat food to make it more interesting. She ate her meal and within 10 minutes vomited 5 times. That second incident made me worry about the quality of the food. Unfortunately, as I was looking at the can, a little bit of the food fell on the floor and my younger dog raced over and licked it up. Within a minute she threw up 3 times.
All my animals seem to be okay now and don't have any lingering symptoms. However, I am really sure that there is something seriously wrong with the Friskies canned Chicken Dinner Pate. I have reported the problem to Friskies, as well as notified Canadian Tire, where I purchased the cans. I have also notified my veterinary's office, in case they have cats that have come in vomiting. To make a long story short I have been feeding my two-year-old cat Friskies since he has been born and able to eat regular food. Yesterday around three o’clock in the morning he started making horrible moaning noises so me and my husband got really concerned because this was something he never done before. We rushed him to the vet and was actually sitting outside of the vet before they even opened. Once we got in there and as soon as we got in the back the vet stated to examine him. The first thing she did was squeezed his stomach and automatically knew it was a blockage.
The second thing she asked was what does he eat and when we told her she was enraged and notified us that Friskies is like the McDonald’s of cat food. She also informed us that Friskies does not do well with male cats and that most of them get blockages in their kidneys. She told us that the food builds up like sand. After that she took him for a X-ray and of course it confirmed that he had a horrible blockage and needed a procedure within 24 hours or he will die. Of course we paid the 800 for the procedure because Fancy is such a big piece of our family. So we left so that the vet could start working on him only to find our hours later that the procedure didn’t work.
She physically had to cut my cat open to get all of the backed up sand like substance that had built up. Of course he’s still there so now I’m up the next day waiting on a update. The vet informed us that if he doesn’t start to urinate on his own we will have to see a specialist and it’s not 100 percent that they can cure him or we will have to put fancy down. To add fuel to the fire I contacted Purina corporate office only for them to say yes that food will do that. Are you kidding me.
Why isn’t it warning signs put on this food. So you mean to tell me I have been basically slowly killing my cat for two years straight. This is unacceptable and I’m taking this as far as I can take it. They don’t realize the hurt that they have caused my family and I’m determined to get justice for Fancy. His vet took pictures of everything she took out of his kidneys, she has pics of his kidneys, X-rays, and bloodwork and I will be picking all of that up today as evidence. This company needs to be shut down. People do yourselves a favor and don’t buy this food, you have been warned.

Sometimes I cannot tell the origin of the bones which can be up to 4mm. I am spending a lot of time removing these bones to decrease the choking Hazard. However, when I am rushed I find their food not eaten and several bones on the plate when I pick up the plates to wash them. I have seen up to 6 such bones in a can. This problem has been is in "liver and chicken" and "mixed grill." I have decided to stop buying Friskies Pate as it is a choking hazard and too time consuming to check every bite for these bones. We thought he was just being picky when he didn’t want to eat it so didn’t think anything of it at first but he would just stop eating altogether. Around the same time he also started growing a lump on his side. We tried different food and he ate it no problem but still got sick if we gave him Friskies. He only ate the shreds but looks like this was a problem with pate as well. One day we decided to not give him friskies at all and the constant puking and diarrhea stopped. You can check my review on Fancy Feast, narrow it down to one star reviews to get the true stories of people that have horror stories like mine. Purina products contain known carcinogens, they also use what's called 4D meats and I believe they added a fifth now. 4D meats are dead, decaying, diseased, and dying.. I believe they added discarded now.. you know how maggots invade dead animals, other species of critters do as well and that goes into the food when they toss these decaying, dying, diseased, dead or discarded from like the vet's office that may have been put to sleep with medications or that have died from disease..
I had your typical problems of sick cats a couple years ago, not just one cat but all of them were puking violently right after they ate and had diarrhea. I thought it was just a bug that they had until I started researching the food. I found so many horror stories of people with the same problems I had and they were relating it to a bad batch like 1157 1159 and that is not the case. It's the poor quality of the food that this big Corporation, Purina is making... they only care about the money they make off of consumers like me and you while not giving a crap about what is going in the food that we feed our beloved furbabies! I already lost two cats to cancer and I had one diagnosed with tumors in his throat and now my little girl, who is only 10 years old, has tumors in her throat and honestly I can't afford to do the treatments that she really needs and it breaks my heart! At this point it's about quality of life and when to euthanize.
So all of you out there that don't have a problem yet, you might not see it now but you will eventually see the problems with your animal! This company manipulates people with their fancy labels and pictures and it's false advertisement! I'm so sick to my stomach to see my animals suffer because I trusted a company that was making the food I feed her that poisoned her and my others! Please go to ** look up Purina and you will see Purina products contain known carcinogen... or you can Google Purina products contain known carcinogen and you will see the class action lawsuit.
Most attorneys are afraid to go after big corporations, if you look at your food aisle at your pet store or your local grocery store, you will see that Purina floods the market! I won't even buy their cat litter! They have bought out other products as well like Kit n Kaboodle. I'm disgusted with this company and when I first realized this problem after doing my own research.. I wanted to print flyers and post them in every aisle at every store I could reach but I didn't do that, instead I took to the internet and told my stories to try to warn others.
Please, everyone that is having a problem... which I'm sure is why your on this site searching up your animals food, please stop buying any of their products! They are toxic and they don't care about our animals. All they care about is putting our money in their pocket! When your cat turns their nose to the food you open, there's a problem! It's not just that they are being picky or finicky, they are trying to tell you... something's wrong here! I am so sick to my stomach that I trusted Purina for years and years and my animals have suffered because of that. Please share your stories and warn everybody that you can! Thank you for reading.

They gave it to me for my last batch of foster kittens. The kitten started getting diarrhea and a couple of them started getting very lethargic. I was giving them sub Q fluids, **, and FortiFlora to help with the diarrhea.
The fecal from from the veterinarian came back negative. Unfortunately one kitten got so rundown that I lost her. Didn’t dawn on me right away that it may be the tasty treasures again. One of the other kittens stopped eating and had watery diarrhea. Luckily we were able to save that kitten. The rest all recovered. They didn’t get as sick. Just the diarrhea but they kept eating. I once again contacted Purina and they are blowing it off. Will not answer me if Friskies is harmful to feed to kittens. I asked them 10 times and would never get a yes or no out of them. The 11 yr old became lethargic and lost her appetite. When I switched to other brands (Fancy Feast, Royal Canin, Blue Mt) the problems went away. I purchased the cans (loose) from a local grocery store on different days over a two week period (May/June 2021). I have reached out to Friskies but, given the absence of a previous food allergy (or underlying medical condition) I am forced to conclude that it's something about the food itself that has changed. For the past several weeks, I thought 8/10 of our cats were bored with Friskies. Even when I bought flavors they hadn't had in a while, 8 of them stopped finishing and would sit there and stare at me or eat a bit and go lay down. They lacked the luster of hunger when meal time approached, but were all otherwise fine except for getting diarrhea and vomiting from some of the cats that were out of character. 8/10 chose to starve instead.
I somehow made it to this page and read batch numbers ending in 1161 and 1159 causing these same sort of issues my cats were having. I bought Sheba cat food and what a WORLD of difference. My one cat who was acting the most lethargic during this Friskiest rut actually rubbed up against the box of Sheba after eating and his vocalizations for mealtime returned! I can't keep Sheba in stock at home and all my cats get antsy for mealtime again! Friskies uses meat byproducts that come from animals in questionable states of health..that's what wrong with Friskies.

Over the years we have had her on dry food for most of those years, sometimes giving her canned food but only as a treat or supplement to her diet. Recently however, within the last month or so she stopped eating the dry cat food (meow mix). We sometimes had to mix in the hair ball mix, which is normal for cats to cough up a hairball every now and then. But about a month ago she quit eating the dry (meow mix) so we decided to give her some canned food.
The first few cans were fine but she's picky and gets tired of the same. We tried turkey and gravy (all Friskies brand). She only ate the gravy and maybe a few pieces. Until we ordered a case of Friskies chicken and seafood Pate case, she had her variety. But she has either threw up the food or refused to eat it. After seeing all those other reviews, I had to add our experience. Yeah our cat is 18-20 years old but we have always been able to find something she likes. Friskies canned food ending in lot 1161. My normally healthy eager eater cat has liquid diarrhea, vomiting after eating. Luckily we were near when the diarrhea started (heard the unwelcome sounds of it pouring out of him), and realized his recent fussiness over food was probably food related. We do not normally buy Friskies due to all the crap in it, but my husband didn't realize that and our usually brands/varieties were not available. Reading the ingredients made *me* want to throw up.
Came here and was less than delighted to find I am not the only one whose cat was having this same reaction. At least I know to not use this food at all, and we will get our cat back on track and feeling better ASAP. FWIW, liquid diarrhea ends up looking exactly like a pee clump in clumping litter, so unless you see it happening, hear it happening, smell it happening, you may not realize that clump is liquid stool --- which may be how some cats get so sick so fast without any realizing. I think throwing this food away is the only option, as I'd hate to donate this to an animal shelter and make more cats ill. I will contact Friskies, but since they will at best send coupons for more of their awful food, it seems wasted effort other than putting them on notice cats are getting sick.

Just today we put our beloved Bella to sleep due to oral squamous cell carcinoma. The issue was just noticed about a week ago when she started drooling and began to eat less. We took her to the vet and discovered the mass on the roof of her mouth. We hoped it was an abscessed tooth and made an appointment this past Monday for today to put her under anesthesia to examine. A short time ago our vet called with the news. We chose to let her continue to sleep instead of waking her and being in more pain.
During the last few days, although hoping for an abscess, we search the web and found a few issues that gave us some hope, such as feline stomatitis, but we prepared for the worse as we saw an article regarding canned cat food that contained tuna. There are a few major contributing circumstances to feline Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma; 2nd hand smoke (we are a smoke free home), use of flea collars (both Bella and Luna are indoor cats and never had a flea collar, and lastly, canned cat food with tuna.
There are no warnings on Friskies cans, there's no insight to the issue until it's too late. If we would have know there was a slight chance of causing cancer in either of our cats we would not have given them canned food with tuna. The flavors our cats like are Shreds Tuna and Whitefish, Tasty Treasures with Tuna, Prime Filets with Chicken and Salmon, etc. For the most part, our cats were eating tuna twice per day. Bella, our larger cat ate the majority of the food while our smaller Luna at some wet and some dry. Again, if there was a warning on the can or provided by Purina we would never have feed them tuna. Never again will we feed or cats a Purina brand food.

I was searching Google to see if something was wrong with this food and found the comments on this site. I have read those comments prior to writing this and despite Friskies' statements to the contrary, there definitely seems like there is a problem with this food. We have "adopted" a stray neighborhood cat that is about 3 years old. We feed her, let her sleep inside when she wants, but generally, she wants to be outside. She is a pretty tough kitty and never vomits...she has a cast iron stomach for a cat. Drop a french fry? She's going to eat it. Leave a slice of pizza unguarded? She will pull the pepperonis off with her claws and eat them. And she has always loved Friskies Wet Pate Cat Food. She truly gets excited when the can pops open.
About a month ago, I popped open a fresh can and put it in a paper bowl as usual. I couldn't set it down fast enough... she was meowing and trying to get it. I set it down, she sniffed it, walked away, sniffed it again, and wouldn't touch it. I left it out for her throughout the day and even though she acted hungry, she would walk up to it, smell it, then walk away. I eventually tossed it out and put out another can. Same thing. Smelled it, walked away, never ate a bite. She went outside for the night so I covered her food for her, hoping she would eat it the next day. She didn't.
So I tossed that out and popped a third can. Third time was charm. She ate it voraciously...she was obviously very hungry. She also ate the next several cans I gave her. Then, no. Same thing started again. Thinking maybe she was maybe being finicky, I mixed some tuna in one of the cans. She immediately started eating it, taking several bites because she was very hungry. And then she vomited it all upright in the bowl.
She was lethargic for a day or two and wouldn't eat anything (not even tuna by itself) and we were starting to get worried. But she started getting frisky again and I popped open a can to feed her and she ate it with no problem. Which brings me to the current state...the last 3 cans have gotten the sniff-and-leave treatment. The current can, which I just popped, seems ok. She sniffed it and ate quite a bit. But it prompted me to do a search and voila! Looks like my kitty isn't the only one.
A lot of people are talking about the batch numbers (1157, 1159, 1161) but Friskies says on their websites that those numbers represent the location where it was made, not a batch number. Whatever the numbers mean, and for what it's worth, all of my cans were from a variety case and all were 1159. I see people talking about switching to 9 Lives with great success and I guess I will do the same at least until Friskies addresses whatever issue is causing this.

I am so furious that this product is still in the market. I have been feeding my 2 young cats (2 years old) Friskies wet canned food since I adopted them from the shelter when they were 3 months old since that’s what I was told to feed them by the staff there. Never had any problems until recently. The last batch I got was #1161. My cats both began vomiting and having diarrhea uncontrollably after eating their food. The diarrhea was so bad I woke up in the morning to numerous diarrhea marks all over the house, they couldn’t even make it to their litter box. They were so lethargic and weren’t playing or coming to me for cuddles which is very unlike them. They just stayed under the bed all day for 4 days. They kept throwing up within minutes of eating their food.
I couldn’t figure out what was going on with them and never thought it could be the food they were eating, until they refused to eat their food completely or even go near it when I poured it out. That’s what I knew something was totally off. I switched to Fancy Feast, they started eating all their food again happily and the diarrhea and vomiting stopped instantaneously. Thank God. After reading all these terrible reviews online from people who had the same experience as me I will never be buying this product again. I rather spend more money and buy a product that won’t kill my beloved cats.

I have one cat who is dehydrated and lethargic, has lost weight, and is requiring some intense veterinarian intervention. He and another cat have elevated pancreatic enzymes; however, I can’t say for sure the elevation is related to the food. I have been speculating Purina changed the recipe - not for the better. I will not be using this product any longer.

I noticed my cat wouldn’t eat the regular Friskies: pâté, shreds or other styles (in defense of friskies she wouldn’t touch 9lives wet foods either). I decided to try the Friskies lil’ soups and see if she liked them. The first thing I noticed is the ingredients (this is for the sockeye salmon):
2. Chicken
3. Sockeye salmon (yes, there is actual chunks of salmon in it; you can see it)
There is no ash in these, no metals, the rest of the ingredients are normal things you find in our own foods. There are 8 ingredients total and one is vitamin B-1. This is just supplemental to whatever dry you feed. I give them to her in the evening, she has her little dinner when we eat dinner. I’ve not had any issues with her eating them, aside from one flavor she does not like: chicken and butternut squash. (You can try it, maybe your cat likes it. My little princess turned up her nose and meowed her distaste for it.)
In the small town I’m in, they are in the dollar stores in the dollar pet section. It is $1 per little cup, but I’m fine with it considering it has better ingredients in my opinion. During the day, I have always stuck with 9Lives daily essentials, I did switch to 9Lives indoor since she is my first ever indoor only cat. Hope this helps, whether it’s because they no longer like the other can type foods, or you simply want something better for your cats.

Seafood Grille is the Friskies brand cat food that our cats will eat - the only brand and the only flavor. I can't vouch for the health benefits of the food because we have one cat who is a tub of lard - he reminds me of the couch potato father from the "Married with Children" television show. The other cat we have is a very feminine female who is quite thin. They are brother and sister and their personalities as well as their body types are on opposite ends of the spectrum.
We have tried other cat foods. This was not a good idea. After placing a bowl of some other, more expensive cat food in front of these two, they looked at the food, sniffed it, and then just stared at my son and I until we produced something else - their favorite and the only food they will eat: Friskies Seafood Grille. The price for a very large bag runs around $14.00 at a warehouse-type grocery store. It is definitely worth the money and worth our cats' happiness because we all know what cats are capable of if their humans do not keep them happy. ;)

I've had many (8) cats that lived 20+ years each on Friskies canned pate and Purina dry food. Three months ago, my cats started seriously ignoring the wet Friskies. Last couple weeks they'd eat a bit later in the day then one or another (of 3) threw up. Yeah, cats can be picky and they can have hair balls.. but this is/was different. This morning I gave them salmon (usually a favorite!); all three ate some, then two threw up repeatedly, over and over until only bile was left. Something has seriously changed for the worse in Friskies canned catfood starting 3-4 months ago. I'm throwing out the many cans (14) we have left tomorrow and, after 40 years of Friskies loyalty, I'm buying other (grain free) brands online as I write this. Good-bye Friskies!

He is a year and half old. Great little cat. About around the 18th he started projectile vomiting. Never seen an animal ever do this. So disturbing. Well I switched foods but unfortunately after reading all the reviews that are in the same time line of sick cats, dying cats. It's the food and now my little fella probably is not gonna make it. Same exact description as mine in the statements on here. Well glad I know now. Wish I had figured it out sooner. My 9 year old is just devastated. And he loved this food. Wouldn't eat nothing but beefy bits. Maybe they will recall and save some poor little kitties. How many people have to complain before they do something. What a shame.

Well, let me start off by saying we used to have 8 cats. At the time of this review, we currently have 6. Sam died July 1st and Reese died July 18th. Yeah, two cats within that short of a time span. And the month isn't even up. We're terrified what will happen for the rest of the month. We have fed our cats Friskies food for their entire lives. Neither one of us could've predicted the "Flowers in the Attic" turn that would take. We also couldn't have predicted how lousy Purina would be about doing anything about this. Step one for a greedy corporation: Always point the finger at something else. That's why we titled this entry the way we did. It's "rumors" for anybody to get on a website and talk about how Friskies made their cats sick or ended up killing them. I also want to call out the poor reaction that Purina will end up doing.
Anyway, I'll be honest and say that usually our cats' appetites dip down during the summer months. They don't eat as much wet food and they end up eating more dry. We noticed something was wrong in so many ways. The cats' appetites weren't there at all. I'd say this has been happening for the last month and a half. There'd be so much wet food we'd end up flushing and the dry they eat (also Purina--Urinary Tract) also wasn't going down. So you'd see noticeable weight loss, Sam was incredibly restless, lethargic and he'd wobble when he walked. Reese also had the weight loss and lethargy going on. Another thing that concerns us is practically all of our cats are acting lethargic. Neither one of us wants to picture losing the rest of our cats.
You might be reading this and wondering how Purina is to blame. We've went through our cats' habits and made comparisons. Sam and Reese didn't do the same things. Sam was a dry eater and Reese never touched dry. Never seen her even want to eat dry. So the only things both cats and the rest of the living cats have in common are the water they drink (fresh water is provided everyday) and the Friskies wet food they eat. We searched online a couple of days ago and came across this site and we're not so easy to dismiss other people's stories as being "rumors" when they fit what's going on in our house with our cats.
Purina was called yesterday and today. Working at home was mentioned due to the Corona Virus. So that leads me to wonder about the people that still have to work at the factories. 1. Are machines being cleaned the way they should? 2. Are inspections still being done to ensure that what needs to be done is actually being done? 3. Do you have employees at the factories just doing a poor job?
No recalls have been made was told to us. Don't you love when companies tell you that? Well, you've got a complaint being made. It might be time for a recall depending on how many other complaints the company is getting. And I'd bet it's a lot. I know our cats were healthy and now they're not. A food kit is being sent to the house but the hilarious thing is it sounds like Purina will basically do what we do ourselves. Would you give your cats a can of food that doesn't look right or smell right? We know we wouldn't. And of course Purina will not contact you of the results of this food kit being sent in. That's not too surprising.
Companies either will keep you in the dark or lie their butts off if they do see something serious in the results. Honestly makes me wonder if I should get on a search engine and see if I can get the food tested independently so that way we would know the results. Something needs to be done and I don't think Purina will do it. They don't care about the damage they've done. Our cats are more than just cats or pets to us. They're members of the family and loyal friends. Why can't Purina see this?
And here's something else that shows Purina is blowing this problem off. We buy a lot of cat food and the cabinet we keep the food in is slam full with Friskies cat food. We're not giving our cats anymore of this toxic garbage. This was mentioned in the calls to Purina. Donating the food was mentioned on Purina's end. Please tell me why we'd donate food to people for them to give their innocent cats if we know it's making our cats sick and killing them. Why would we do that? Why would Purina even make the suggestion? Time to cut the garbage and do something. Recalls this crap. No other cats should suffer from your product.

Last year we found out he had arthritis and his kidneys were starting to show signs of decline through blood tests. He also had lifelong anxiety issues as well as on and off vomiting and asthma.
In late January we really thought he was approaching his last days. He had lost controls of his bowels, slept ~20 hours a day, and his arthritis was crippling. You could tell he was in pain all the time. He was cranky and he smelled awful. Like his insides were rotting. It was awful. We decided we'd try raw food to get a handle on his diarrhea. He's been on Darwin's cat food for a few months now and literally everything is better. He's a brand new cat. His coat is soft and fluffy, he has energy and plays with the kittens, he looks alert and the smell went away. I have no idea what is in Frisie's but it has been made extremely clear to us that the awful food they make had slowly been poisoning him. I can’t believe so many people are going through exactly what we are. Our cats have eaten this food for two years with no problem, but this last batch of food is just bad. They barely want to eat any. They got hungry enough and finally ate and ended up with severe vomiting and diarrhea. I thought it was a virus and continued to feed them this garbage, and it just kept happening. I finally realized it might be the food and was shocked to find this page with the same complaints. My dog even finished a plate they didn’t eat before I could stop her, and now even she has severe diarrhea.
I called the 1-800 number and was told there was nothing wrong with this food and they are aware of all these online “rumors.” I was also told that 1159 is not a batch number but the plant where they are manufactured. Even so, is t it worth looking into? Maybe there is something wrong with the plant. They need to recall this garbage. I will never feed this to my cats again. I bought them a better food yesterday, and their appetite is already back and they are doing much better today. I didn’t find any more puke, and the diarrhea seems to have stopped. If you love your animals, please don’t feed them anything by this company.

Ever since I bought my recent 40 can box of Friskies from local Costco my cats recoil from eating any of the cans. Today I really wondered when I opened a can of Turkey and Giblets whether the food was safe. The top layer was dry and bottom layer wet, and shrunken from the sides. I threw it out and came here to see that others have had problems with batch #1159. I'm taking the rest of the box back. I looked at bottoms of my cans and see #1159 on all of them.

My cats have eaten Friskies shreds canned wet cat food for 2 years. They used to love the stuff. I just recently bought another large box and noticed they basically refused to eat it. They ate a little bit but really seemed reluctant. They used to meow their little heads off begging for the stuff. I have used four cans out of the 24 pack and now 2 of my cats are vomiting. They are indoor, vaccinated healthy cats and I cannot think of any other culprit other than their food. I checked the internet only to discover all these similar reviews about batch numbers ending in 1159!
I checked my cans and sure enough, the number ends in 1159! I plan on returning and never using Friskies again. But it makes me sick that Friskies was aware of possible batch contamination but no recalls were issued. I really hope my cats recover. I have 4 and 2 are sick so far. They have had intermittent vomiting for last 48 hours or so. I plan on writing Friskies, but they will probably just send me some coupons!

For about the past 3 months my cats have been getting sick. And my dog who will and always have eaten some of their food. I also had noticed that the label had changed on the liver and chicken. Have fed the wet food liver and chicken mainly for about 40? years. When I was a kid we always fed it to our cats. My cats have been getting sick with diarrhea and also frequently vomit back in their bowl after eating. My one cat is clinging for his life as we speak. The food with the chicken and turkey gravy seems to be the worst. I don’t know what has changed in the food but I feel my animals are being poisoned. Have tried different flavors of the food also. Some of the flavors my cats don’t even touch anyone more. I just loaded up on food at Walmart and I am returning it all. Very disappointed in what is happening to this food. It seriously should be looked into.
I was concerned over this and looked up online to see if there were any issues and I cannot believe how many people are finding the same thing. I never have responded to any products before but I do feel this is a very serious issue. I’m praying my cat pulls through this. Now I have to figure out what food to feed them but it is definitely not going to be this any longer. I kept using it because I thought it was other things causing the problems. Please for all the sake of all the cats that have been eating this food investigate this. Something is definitely not right and our animals are being poisoned. What changed?

My cat has eaten the Friskies canned poultry variety packs (pate, shreds, and meaty bits) for years without issue. Then in late December 2019, he began having daily problems with diarrhea and vomiting. The issue became so severe that we took him to the vet, and $500 in tests later the vet couldn't find anything wrong. They treated the diarrhea and nausea and sent us home to monitor him. Over the past week (once the meds ran out), the issue has started again. Nothing in his diet has changed, so I came here and was shocked to see how many reviews have been left by folks whose poor cats are experiencing identical symptoms. I checked our batch number, and sure enough it's the same one named in several posts here (ending in 1159). My cat is miserable and we're out $500 that we can't afford to lose right now, all because Purina has neglected to recall this product.

Then about a month ago, I noticed that every single one of my cats were not eating it and would turn away once they smelled it. Has something changed within this food? I have wasted so much money on these cans that they wont eat for some reason. 2 of the cats will not even come looking for the wet food anymore. They just eat the dry food and move along which is very unusual for them. I've tried buying from Walmart, Tractor Supply, Food Lion, Fresh Foods, Dollar General, and Family Dollar. Also tried buying from 3 different towns!! I'm tired of wasting money on this food they wont eat. Can someone please give me an answer??

Give serious consideration to the reviews submitted about Friskies wet cat foods. For several weeks, 13 of my 14 cats have been retching and throwing up after eating this food. I changed to wet food because I have several I am treating for kidney failure. I just recently read these reviews, and I take them very seriously because of what I have been experiencing.
Six feedings ago I started cooking the food before feeding, and all 13 have gone through six feedings with NO throwing up or retching. Even the kitties with kidney failure are no longer getting sick. I am still trying to bring the last kitty back to good health, but it is difficult since he is a feral and difficult to give fluids and medications. I personally will not feed any more wet foods without cooking first. My kitties are worth the inconvenience if there is a possibility it keeps them safer. If it helps others, it is worth sharing. The microwave works well for this, but get the food really hot to kill any potential pathogens. If just one more furry friend benefits from this, it is worth the post.

So today, I searched the web for some answers and found this website where every review is describing what I have been through! Batch numbers were the same for me: 1157 and 1159. We recently adopted a cat from the local shelter. He is very active and eats more than my other cat. We feed both cats Science Diet dry food and Fancy Feast each morning. Because of his appetite, we decided to try Friskies because the cans are larger. We made the change about a month ago. He was fine for the first couple days and then has had intermittent diarrhea and drinking a lot. We took him to the vet yesterday and were told that Friskies is “hot on the stomach” like too much fertilizer on the lawn. The vet gave us a probiotic to sprinkle on the food.
However, as I have read reviews on this site, I found that I had purchased a bad batch. I immediately threw 14 unopened cans away, and will never buy this product again. I’ll be using Fancy Feast, which I currently use, or a better product from here on out. Thanks to those who have reviewed this product before me. I’m thankful for the information and saddened that other animals have experienced this reaction or worse to Friskies wet food. Given this experience, I wouldn’t even rate this product as one star. It deserves a no star rating.

Have 5 cats. 4 female and 1 male. One is a rescue and others born at home. They are aged 9 years and approx 7 years respectively. All have not been eating flavors of the Friskies 5.5 oz pate that they had previously loved. Cats are picky and it was hard enough to id flavors that all would eat. Initially I thought they were bored but all of them at same time for same flavors?! I had been ordering from Chewy as it was very convenient but in/around November 2019 I tried to place an order and the few flavors that were still somewhat "workable" were not available! As it turned out only 2 of their Friskies 5.5 oz flavors were available. So what happened? Coincidence? A big company like Chewy dealing w a major brand and couldn't restock...suspicious!!! Did they sell until it ran out or was it pulled?
I asked about a recall and was told no. Further, food would not be back in stock until end of December. This was/is a huge problem as I moved to a rural area and cannot find variety of brands and flavors to shop around to find replacement and finances are a big issue as well. Chewy worked w me and sold Fancy Feast at a similar price until I could get usual BUT as I now see, having read horror stories, I should:
a) have listened to my catsb) thank God none have died
c) pray they stay well
d) FIND NEW FOOD
I noticed a that I have a case of liver and chicken with that odd pink stamp, best by Oct 2021, lot ending in 1157. This was sold by Chewy AFTER they restocked. There MUST be something wrong. This cannot be coincidence!!! Pet owners spend a lot of money with these companies and this gross disregard/negligence by the Nestle company is unacceptable!

I foster for a local shelter and purchase all of their food myself. After spending easily $40 a day on those tiny cans, I opted to buy the 13 oz cans of Poultry Platter Pate by Friskies. Because of the number of fosters/housepets I have at any given time, I buy in quantity. The first day I served it, everyone gobbled it down, so I went online and ordered 9 dozen cans, figuring it would keep me ahead of the game for awhile. Within days, every single cat and kitten had extreme diarrhea and many were vomiting as well. I didn't know if they had a bug or what, so I gave the food another try. More of the same.
I went online and started reading review after review of cats throwing up and bouts of diarrhea after eating it, so I discontinued and went back to Blue Buffalo, Wellness, Natural Balance, Royal Canin, etc. The symptoms cleared almost immediately. I wrote the company and expressed my concern over so many of mine getting ill and they sent me two $22 coupons to buy more Purina products! I can't even donate the hundred plus cans I ordered because it would make the shelter animals as sick as mine :-(

After a few months of them eating just a bit and throwing up constantly now they stopped eating it at all. I had one cat die in the spring, she was constantly throwing up, was lethargic and was suddenly dropping weight, but she was a Sr at 17. The Vet said probably liver cancer so I had to have her PTS. Then suddenly I had 2 more cats die in less than 8 weeks, an 11 year old boy that was healthy up until this summer, and one of the few that would still eat the food, and my 15 year old who also would still eat the food and started dropping weight and throwing up constantly after eating her canned food.
All of this happened in the last few months. In the beginning they would still eat it and half of them would get sick within a few hours if not right away, now they won't touch the canned at all except my one very Sr cat who is 19 and now is also throwing up and has the runs from eating this food. I am writing this review in response to an article regarding the recent issues with this food. I only wish I saw this sooner, as I see some of these reviews go back to October. I feed my cats vet quality dry food, however for wet food I purchased this Friskies recently. I feed them this alternating with fancy feast cans and Whiskas and switch it up daily as a treat for something new tasting. For the last 2 months my cat had been getting intermittent diarrhea. I was worried so I took her to the vet. They did some tests and couldn’t find the issue, so they treated her for the active diarrhea she had. However weeks later she got it again.
She has now had diarrhea on 4 different occasions lasting for a few days each time. I tried to monitor it based on what food I was giving her, however I couldn’t rule out what it was. Now I know. I only wish like I said that I could have found this out sooner, and avoided her issues. I have fed her friskies in the past, with no issues. I bought 2 different cases of multi pack at the end of October, including chefs dinner, salmon, turkey and giblets, chicken dinner and ocean whitefish and tuna. All had the expiry of Sept 2021, which I read was the affected cans. I am ridden with guilt, for feeding this stuff to my beloved family member, and not knowing this.
I believe the company should be held responsible and look into these products further. It can’t be sheer coincidence that all these cats in different regions and scenarios are all getting sick. The only common denomination is this food. If this was a human getting sick the company would have already had to inquire further to this problem. Why after all these reviews has nothing been done yet. Please share this information with all your friends and family via social media, so that no other cats get sick (or die). Maybe if word gets out and enough people know, then their sales will plummet and we can get their attention so they will finally be held responsible for this product.

We lost our cat this past Sunday (12/1) due to an unknown reason. We were advised by our vet to treat with SubQ fluids for dehydration from vomiting - after her first dose she became increasingly lethargic and developed a very large abscess with necrotic tissue over a two day period (from the vomiting to passing was 5 days). She had been using Friskies Pate (Batches 1157, 1158 and 1159 - there have been some reports of 1161 as well).
I was able to consult anonymously with some vets regarding the Purina brand issue, and they said that "because correlation does not equal causation" in order to rule out the Purina brand as the cause of deaths a "Necrotopsy and toxicology" must be requested by the owner at the time of death. Due legal nature of such a request the toxicology will run $2,000.00+.
After the toxicology, if there is evidence that the food might be the cause then sometimes the food is then tested. If an actual causative problem is found, THEN food will be recalled. Basically there needs to be causation in order for a recall to take place. Due to the lack of information during an extremely sensitive period, the time sensitivity and financial obligations it is understandable many aren't able to make the decision in the correct time... We did not find out this information until 4 days after our cat passed.
If your pet is eating any Purina Brand and showing early signs (drooling, vomiting or diarrhea) STOP food now and bring to the vet immediately for treatment - as it may not be too late. If you are reading this, and you are in treatment that may be failing, try to look into the above the next steps...while this information is too late for us, maybe it will help one readers going through the same thing.

Jack, my fat boy, is a glutton and will eat absolutely anything you put in front of him and begs every morning for wet food. He is normally standing on his back legs peeping at me as I put the food on the floor and dives in with gusto. He smells this stuff and walks away to the dry food. He NEVER eats dry. I tried every variety in the box and got the same reaction from all three cases, they won't touch it. I tried mixing it with Fancy Feast and got them to eat it but my Chloe spent the rest of the day in bed, lethargic and not acting right, Jack has loose stools that are sticking to his backside and Myles vomited all over the house not 10 minutes later.

I did do a Q & A on Amazon and the response I got from Friskies ": Thank you for your question. We are at a loss to explain why your cats are refusing to eat this food, as we have not made any recent changes to the formulations of any of the varieties included in this pack. Cats may show their desire for something new or different by making noticeable changes in their feeding behavior, which may include eating slower, eating less or simply refusing to eat their favorite food. To ensure that your cats are getting all the nutrients they needs if consumption declines, you may want to try introducing a new flavor or texture to their diet". **. I’ve fed all three of them Friskies cat food for years, mostly the dry indoor formula and sometimes the wet canned pate. They all LOVE to eat and ALWAYS wake me in the mornings for food and are very vocal around meal times. Usually when I pour their food in their bowls they run to it, all three meowing like a kitty chorus, and they always finish every bit they’re served. But over the last few weeks they all stopped waking me in the morning for food which is completely unlike them, they all stopped meowing for food at all, and they wouldn’t touch it when I filled their bowls, not even the wet food which they usually go crazy over. And all three of them became totally lethargic, sleeping way more than usual and hiding in dark places like under the beds and couches when they’re all usually so very social.
One of my seniors staring puking foamy stuff several times in the day and night and peeing out of the litter box. I was so scared. I made an appt to see the vet but right away I changed their food to a different brand that cost twice as much and within 24 hours they were very noticeably improved. They came out from hiding, they finally ate food, began meowing at meal time again, and my senior boy hasn’t puked at all since eating the new brand. This is not a coincidence, ALL THREE OF MY CATS refused to touch the wet or dry Friskies and ALL THREE were sick and lethargic and listless until I changed brands. Friskies was poisoning my babies!! Brought him in to see the vet, and close to $1k later, I learned he’s developed an autoimmune disease (IBD), likely brought on by feeding him Friskies. I also discovered his full-sister has developed it as well.
I don’t know why Purina (a.k.a. Nestle) is having problems with their canned cat food, but I’m pulling all Purina pet foods from my reserves—including dog and horse feed!—and switching to different brands. I see a lot of people here reporting similar experiences. I’m shocked this company continues to churn out this product without backing up to fix it and address pet owner concerns. Nestle Executives—you should all be ashamed!

My 9 year old cat has been in perfect health his whole life. About 2 months ago he started becoming lethargic and anti-social, stopped eating and drinking and lost a significant amount of weight. I assumed it was because of the newborn baby we just had. I took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with pancreas, liver and intestinal damage and a grim prognosis. After $5000 and 2 weeks of me forcing pills down his throat, it turns out it was from the Purina Friskies wet food. He is still in poor health and I fear for my younger cat and other people's cats. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT IN ANY VARIETY, IT CANNOT BE TRUSTED!!!! A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT SHOULD BE HAPPENING!!!

I had been feeding about 20 cans of Friskies canned cat food a day to various house cats, barn cats, and feral cats. The cats had always been healthy and good eaters. In the past few months, I noticed the cats were leaving the wet cat food on their plates. Thinking they didn't like a certain flavor or variety, I tried others. Same result. Cats seem lethargic and disinterested in eating. I noticed some cats were vomiting. I lost a couple cats in this time period, that had otherwise seemed healthy---alive one day, dead the next.
I buy my cat food through Chewy.com, Amazon, Walmart, Dollar General, and local groceries. I too have had mail order deliveries that had cans broken open and full of maggots & flies. I thought it was a shipping problem until I purchase a 40 pack at Walmart with the same issue. How the people at the distribution facilities could not smell the obvious rotting meat smell is beyond me. Something I noted just yesterday while taking care of my neighbors 2 feral cats is that they too left their Friskies cat food on their plate. Generally, feral cats are not picky, there has to be something going on with that food! If I am going to spend $100 a week on cat food, I might as well cook my own as give them something tainted that they won't eat. I can produce upon request, invoices from Chewy.com and other distributors attesting to the purchase of the cat food, but I think the company needs to find out what is wrong, obviously it's not just me and my cats!

Bought 60 can box @ Costco last weekend. Smelled something rotten on the ride home. Next day 100s of fruit flies flew out of the box. Employee at return desk said she saw maggots in her own returned box. I'm wondering if the cans exploded from bad processing and attracted the bugs. I couldn't get a batch number because I immediately tripled garbage bagged it for return to contain the bugs. From the conversation I had I'm guessing they will be remove the whole lot. The company should have recalled it by now but all I found online was this thread.

Have been feeding Friskies to my cats every night for years. I have noticed my older boy has been a lot less interested in eating lately and they have been acting starving by morning. Last night when I went to feed them I found a chunk of sharp plastic in their food... I was so glad I squished it up and noticed! I will not be feeding Friskies to my boys anymore especially after reading up more on the recent problems! Batch number 6052.

We used to feed our cats Friskies canned food variety flavors. We have 4 cats. 2 are older and two younger. The older ones were vomiting and having diarrhea. One that I have had for 16 yrs was dehydrated and losing weight. All of them were vomiting and got to the point they wouldn’t eat the food. So we changed to fancy feast and all cats started doing better. Then my husband decided to go back to fancy feast. I have seen my 16 year old cat go back downhill again. He is lethargic, skin and bones, vomiting again as well as diarrhea. The other cats are getting where they just won’t eat the food. Even the new kitten. Something is definitely wrong with this cat food and cats know it. We are going back to fancy feast. I have been crying so much today about my sabre because I’ve had him so long and worried I might have to put him down.

Friskies Tasty Treasures: w/Ocean Fish and Tuna; w/Chicken and Tuna - newly added Scallop flavor - cats will no longer eat. Friskies Tasty Treasures: w/Chicken in gravy; w/Turkey in gravy - newly added Liver flavor - cats will no longer eat. I have been using many of Friskies brands of cat food for several years with no problem. The new "flavors" are a DEFINITE MISS. I can see those little added white bits, but what the hell is in them? Even Cabernet, who will eat almost everything and only eats canned food, turned his black velvety nose up at this new recipe!

I have fed all my cats (plus all the ferals I feed) Friskies wet food for years. These past few months they are refusing to eat it and I have wasted so much money on this canned cat food that has had to be thrown out. I hope it's not poisoning them as so many reports reviews have stated! Much of the food has been ordered online so I have no paper receipts. Nestle-Purina..PLEASE check your cat food and find out what's going on! It seems like all varieties are affected! I'm afraid I now need to switch to another brand. Please heed your customer's complaints! Also they DO NOT like the scallop flavor added to the seafood nor the added liver flavor to the poultry.

Updated on 09/21/2019: I wrote in a few days ago about our cat becoming ill with similar symptoms as other cats that are being fed Friskies canned cat food "Shreds" variety. I believe my post is still in Moderation, but I have an update to the cat's emergency vet visit... He is much better now, after an overnight stay at a Veterinary Clinic in Long Beach, CA. He was treated for dehydration and vomiting, but his bloodwork and toxicology were all negative, X rays showed no severe intestinal problems. However, the doctor said "No More Friskies!" (He said it was "basically junk food".)
The bill was just under $600. I responded to the Nestle-Purina rep who had contacted me via email to insist that their product is completely safe. In my response I said I would prefer to hear Nestle-Purina-Friskies tell me that they are investigating the "batch numbers" and the factory where this food was processed... instead of just declaring all of these stories to be false. Anyway, our kitty is much better now. If you see the same symptoms in your cat, one thing to watch is their water intake, or they may become dehydrated and get very sick, very quickly. We were lucky. I thank Consumer Affairs for making this forum available. S. **
Original review: I'm having the same problems as many other people writing in about Friskies "Shreds" canned cat food. We have a seven-year-old male cat, very healthy except for a deformity in his back left leg, from birth. He has now been throwing up and having watery diarrhea for 3 days, and he is not going near his water dish at all. He is also 'missing' the litter box, and walking very unsteadily. He has only eaten Friskies SHREDS in his whole life (wouldn't touch anything else...) but last week he stopped wanting to eat the blue can (fish) and then the orange can (beef?) and was only partially interested in the other flavors.
I should have been more attentive but I just kept opening more cans of SHREDS to see if he would eat anything. Now he is weak and dehydrated. I'm taking him to the vet this afternoon. We have both lots-- 1157 and 1159. I blame myself. Today he ate a very small amount of actual canned tuna in water, so maybe we've turned a corner. His name is Cornelius. Fingers crossed.

I have always fed my cat both Friskies dry and Friskies canned cat food. The last bunch of cans I brought (shreds style) seemed to be more watery than usual when I opened them. My cat has become sick and dehydrated after eating them for a few days, and my small dog (who constantly steals the cats food) has also been sick. I threw all the unopened cans away, but my cat is still quite ill! My dog appears to be recovered after 2 days of intense shaking and "panic". I feel they were both poisoned. Those cans of Friskies appear to be what they ate in common.

My cat is 5 years old and I also have a six-month-old. I have always given my cats Friskies food dry and canned set up until now I have not had any problems. Recently I decided to try Friskies surf and turf dry cat food. To my surprise within a week both cats had diarrhea, and was vomiting. They also stopped using the litter for urinating and bowel movements. Yes both cats have been litter trained ever since I've had them so that is not the reason. They both seem to be avoiding the litter like the plague so to speak. After talking to the vets I decided to put them back on their regular food and see if that helps. I was so happy when they both started using the litter again and the diarrhea and vomiting had gone away. I do not recommend the specific Friskies blend to anyone that loves their fur babies.

My healthy cat ate one can of the Mariners Catch Pate, Batch number 1157. Purchased at Costco, she vomited a few hours later. I wasn’t too worried as she can sometimes react this way, to changes in diet. As days went on, she stopped eating her regular food and became dehydrated. One week after she ate the food we took a trip to the vet and hope she continues to get better. With all of the customer feedback about this product the company should recall.

My cats don't always like the cans of Friskies cat food I buy, sometimes my dog gets what's on the plate. I have noticed my cats haven't eaten very much the last few days, but my dog has. The day before yesterday my dog started throwing up. I thought it was because he didn't eat anything the night before. Now this is the third day he has vomited. My cats have vomited in the past but I thought it's because one of them ate too fast. I have fed my cats Friskies for many years but not anymore. I'm making my dog a vet Appointment asap.

For the last month of my cat's life, I fed her 22 cans from a case of the Friskies Pate mixed flavors. She got sick and refused to eat it in early July. I started feeding her baked chicken and hamburger and beef soup broth and she recovered. Then I stupidly gave her the cat food again and within 3 days of starting it up again she died. She was old, but in a very good condition for her age--still agile and vocal at age 19 until the last dance with Friskies cat food. If I ever get another cat, it will be fed NO commercial food at all. You can't trust any of these companies to put pet safety over the almighty dollar.
And Purina, by the way, in 2015, I lost my 9 yr old golden retriever from a tainted batch of Beneful dog food as well as almost losing a 10 yr old sheltie from the same batch. I again, stupidly fed it to them when the colors in that particular bag were like neon. They were so unnaturally bright. God, I should have known. After keeping my sheltie away from any manufactured food since 2015, he is now still strong and healthy at age 14. Purina don't care.

I have many cats ranging from 2 years old to 14 years old. For 14 years I have been feeding them Friskies canned food and dry food. Two days ago when I opened up 4 new flats of 24 cans (4 different flavors) I noticed about 2/3 of the cats didn't want to eat the food. It was hot so I thought maybe they weren't that hungry. That night & the next day same thing- I kept switching the flavors around. I knew something was wrong because they LOVE TO EAT. So tonight I thought "maybe I should check online to see if anyone else is having this problem" and I hit paydirt. 3 of my cases are plant #1159 which many people have singled out as one of the offending plants that is making their cats very sick, but the other 2 cases are #1169 which no-one has mentioned (or I haven't seen it yet reading thru everything).
So far none of my cats have gotten really sick but I did notice softer than normal stool and pretty smelly. Shame of Purina/Friskies for not stopping something that has apparently been going on since April 2019. My cases came from CHEWY.COM. I will be sending them a note next! NOTE: flavors I bought were all PATE style: Salmon; Turkey and Giblets; Country Supper (all plant #1159) and Mixed Grill; Liver and Chicken (both plant #1169). BUYER BEWARE!!

I’ve purchased Friskies wet for probably 30-40+ years, no problems before. My Cat Toby loves it twice a day. I got full cases from Chewy. He would not eat most of the cans. I put it down, he sniffs and walk away (these are favorite flavors). I just threw them out. I don’t force him. He is not finicky. Something not right. I took photos of some cans and codes. Other cat Sasha did eat some and threw up across the kitchen. Bought more at Meier. Toby would not eat a couple fish flavor. I looked at these new cans. Same numbers. 1157. 1159. 1161. Toby has refused at minimum 30 cans that I tossed out. I’m so glad I did not let him eat it! It is tainted somehow! I now have to find another wet food after all these years! I would just die if my Toby died.

I have a 1 year old cat and a 14 year old. I typically never give them wet food but I wanted to treat them. I got them Friskies Prime Filets Chicken and Tuna Dinner in Gravy and I gave them each about 3 tablespoons of it. A day or so later my 1 year old began vomiting repeatedly and it looked like there was blood in it. My 14 year old vomited only once. They both seem fine now but the only change has been the wet food. I've seen people talking about how this food can be poisonous and make cats sick. My food is batch number 1161 and I will not be feeding them Friskies anymore. It may be just a coincidence but I'd rather be safe and give them something that doesn't have such a bad reputation.

I have 2 momma cats that have both given birth in the last 6 weeks plus their kittens. I purchased 3 40 can variety packs this month. First, 1 of the momma cats started going outside the box which isn't her usual behavior. She clearly had uncontrollable pooping issues that were foul smelling, off color & runny. She was born in my house and has never been outside. I started trying everything as within a week they were all sick. Looked for recalls and didn't see any. Finally came here and discovered there are many sick kitties from Ocean Whitefish & Tuna. I had ordered these cases by mistake as I usually feed the Friskies fillets. I have taken them off wet food all together as I can't afford to replace the catfood till payday and the problem is slowly clearing up. I am so disappointed in Friskies. They should be ashamed of themselves for not recalling these cans. I will never buy their products again.
