I have a 5-year-old golden retriever and have had Fetch pet insurance since a pup. I was under the impression that if you started insuring your dog from the beginning, your premiums would be lower than if you started at a later age. Well, not true. This year, my premium went up 50% to almost $2000 per year. Last year, the premiums went up 39%. When I asked Fetch why they are going up so much, she stated that older dogs are more expensive to insure. When I did comparison shopping, I found that basically I am paying market rate with no regard to being a customer for the last 5 years. I guess I've been educated. Incidentally, we have never put in a claim. Presently in the process of cancelling, which in itself has been a challenging process.

I would have given them 5 stars except for the fact that each year, the premiums automatically go up. Then there is a 10% discount if you are associated with an organization which we were. Rep 1 told me the new renewal price in June and what my discount price would be. Fast forward a few months and the price jump more than my regular price with not discount. Rep 2 said my renewal price is with the discount, but that means premiums jump19%. Not the fact that Rep 1 told me what the premium would be at renewal which is the price that it is at now without discount. I do not believe Rep 2 (Don) and know when someone lied to me. I also get these threatening email to renew or lose but I have until July 14 to renew according to my policy terms. I renewed for now but will look for alternatives. Too bad, I really like them, but don't like being lied to.

Fetch does well for a few years and then doubles the premium knowing other companies won’t cover preexisting conditions. They hate to see you go so they offer to adjust coverage to lower the premium. They’ve “Gotcha.”

Absolute scam of a company. They claim to offer comprehensive coverage and have denied every single claim I submitted. I have paid them almost $1,200 to date in insurance premiums and received ZERO coverage, despite the issues I submitted for being covered. We will be pursuing a charge back from our bank for all fees and cancelling our service. I tried to email them to understand why they did not approve our valid claims, and received a trash AI-written message that had 0 information and absolutely no way to speak to a real person. Avoid at all costs. They provide no invoices and have a horrible interface on their website as well, with a "chatbot" that leads absolutely nowhere.

Wow, this is a new low for Fetch. They sent me an approval letter for a routine claim as usual but after the 2-5 days waiting period the money wasn’t being deposited in my account. After over a week and an email thread of about 76 responses between myself and customer service (I think this person is higher up than the front line phone people) they are playing games with smoke and mirrors as to where my money is, even trying to insinuate that they reimbursed me 2 weeks prior to the approval of the claim. Just because it was in the same amount because my dog’s PT comes to the same amount biweekly. How dumb do they think I am? They are the insurance company! Shouldn’t they know this isn’t possible or even legal? I’m going to have to get involved with the CFPB, which is a huge headache if I ever hope to see this money.

Horrible records keeping, not very secure, too many hoops to jump through, keep requesting records they already have to delay actions. Fetch is a from all appearances and my experience over ONE deductible claim, they didn't even have to pay anything, a complete scam.

Complete and total insurance scam. Started Fetch Insurance in August 2024 paying approximately $50 per month and submitted a claim in March 2025 because I had to take my dog to the vet because she was vomiting. They denied the claim because they said she had been to the vet within the last 12 months for vomiting. Literally, anytime a dog gets sick, they vomit, even if the root cause of sickness is a completely different reason. This insurance company will always find a way to deny a claim. Avoid at all costs.

I've had Fetch Pet Insurance for my four-year-old dog since he was a puppy. Over the years, I expected small premium increases, but they just raised it dramatically—from $64 to $104—with only one day's notice! When I called to ask why, the representative simply said it was due to his aging. He's still only four! I’m extremely frustrated. I will definitely be looking elsewhere.

Very misleading company. After my insurance went into effect I had my dog treated for some nausea and diarrhea she had been having for a day. They denied the claim and informed me that since this was her first visit and record for them they would deny any future claims involving vomiting and diarrhea as this is apparently her baseline according to them. This after I had made multiple calls after they tried to dismiss my claim for not having a year of medical records on a dog I've had for 3 months. Their prices aren't bad but in the end I just ended up paying for both insurance and a full vet bill. Not a service I plan on renewing again.

I just got Fetch Pet Insurance last year 2024. Now they deny any claim I submit??? I went to BBB Better Business Bureau and they gave them an A+. I am so sad I did not go with one of the other pet insurances. You can tell all the good reviews were a few years back and probably submitted by their employees and they actually respond to those reviews. It is now 2025 and I will cancel ASAP. Each payment we all make each month just keeps them going, so they can hurt more pet owners. I can’t wait for word to spread and they go out of business. I wear a shirt to my dog park each morning that says, "Don’t get Fetch Pet Insurance. Ask me why." Luckily I live in a huge tourist town Las Vegas, so I can educate a ton of people. Keep spreading the news and I am going to BBB next to file a complaint.

I am absolutely outraged by the way Fetch Pet Insurance is handling my claim. I filed a formal appeal over a week ago, yet I have received no response, no acknowledgment, and zero effort to resolve the issue. I have emailed every available contact, including the claims department and customer support, and all of my messages are being completely ignored.
My veterinary bill totaled $487.37, but Fetch decided to reimburse me only $110.00—a mere fraction of what should have been covered. My policy states that eligible expenses should be reimbursed at 80% (after a 20% copay), but instead of following this structure, Fetch applied arbitrary reimbursement caps that were far below the promised percentage. They completely excluded certain charges under the excuse that they weren’t covered, even though these services were clearly part of routine and necessary veterinary care.
Not a single dollar was applied toward my $400 deductible, meaning my coverage is practically useless until I pay even more out of pocket. It turns out that Fetch has hidden reimbursement limits on all wellness services, which they don’t clearly disclose upfront. For example, my pet’s comprehensive exam was only reimbursed at $30, vaccinations at $10 each, and lab tests at a fraction of their actual cost—despite my policy supposedly covering 80% of expenses after copay.
Since submitting my appeal, I have received no communication whatsoever. Fetch has ignored every single email I’ve sent. This company refuses to engage with customers once they take your money and does not process appeals or respond to formal complaints. Since Fetch Pet Insurance refuses to act in good faith, I will be filing formal complaints with the State Department of Insurance, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
This company is a scam, and I strongly warn every pet owner to stay away. They gladly take your premiums but will do everything in their power to avoid paying claims. If you want real coverage that actually protects your pet, look elsewhere. Fetch Pet Insurance is nothing but a fraudulent, deceptive business that preys on trusting pet owners.

Very disappointed with my Fetch experience. I've always had pet insurance and I usually go with Petline but thought I would try something new. What a mistake. I have a mixed terrier breed and am paying over $200 per month now in fees. Randomly last fall, Petline said the pet care in my postal code warranted an increase that over doubled the cost monthly. Now that my dog is 10 years old, I didn't think it was a viable option to go to another provider. I've made one claim in the past 8 years (we got him as a rescue at 2 years old) and a 2nd claim recently that was denied because I was two weeks past the 90 day period. I have Petline on my big Saint Bernard and have had no issues getting claims approved. I would never use Fetch again.

TERRIBLE COMPANY. This company is incompetent. They won't approve anything and are terrible. Your denied claims DO NOT go towards your deductible. Something I wish they would have disclosed in the policy when signing up. My pet had a cough due to something completely different than what he is dealing with now, and they won't approve his claims of over $1500 because they think it's pre-existing. I even had my Vet write a letter claiming it was not pre-existing. Still won't approve.
I then used their Rx platform to order my dog's antibiotics, I paid for next day shipping. Well it's been 6 days and my pet's meds are still not here. When I asked about it, they said someone used a USPS label instead of the FedEx label they were supposed to use that I paid for. The rep said that it would be delivered today, but now it's saying tomorrow. What the heck. I HATE THIS COMPANY. I have never used such a sad excuse for a pet insurance company till Fetch. My pet is battling pneumonia and a collapsed lung and has been without his antibiotics for an ENTIRE WEEK. While the reps are competent and accommodating, the company they work for is such a scam. I am spreading this far and wide and plan to take this to social media to spread the word even further not to use this company.

Absolutely a waste of money. Stay away. I had incurred approximately -$3,600 in vet bills throughout 2024. Fetch's premium cost me about -$500. Fetch reimbursed me for roughly +$500. I cancelled the service after 9 months and figured I broke even on the premiums/reimbursements. Then, 5 months after cancelling the service, they send me an email asking to repay them another -$350 due to some 'internal billing issues'. Fetch treats your pet like a car. Unfortunately, Fetch had to payout more in the first year of my policy than I paid into it. I had a $300 deductible and 10% copay. I received notice that Fetch is changing my deductible to $500 and 30% copay upon renewal of my policy in February 2025. I was expecting them to increase my premium like they always do. Fetch will not reduce my deductible and/or copay for even a higher premium. God forbid your pet had cancer, which would be very expensive. Fetch could cancel your policy or make it cost prohibitive upon renewal. I should have listened to all of the negative Fetch reviews. Contrary to what they say, your policy and/or your premium is not dictated by the breed and location. It is dictated by the $ amount of the claims you submit. I am looking into other plans.

Avoid this company at all costs. My premium has went up 500% from age 1 to age 7 and I've never put in one claim. This company makes it so painful to pay the premium as time goes on so that you cancel the policy like I did. It's a total scam. If I would have never paid them and saved it, I'd have more than enough to cover the max of their plan and my dog is still relatively young. Don't listen to people who have put in a claim that got paid because I would almost guarantee that it's about 5% of the customers while the other 95% of the customers are not and allowing this company to make it rain in money.

Fetch has violated my human and Charter-protected rights as a disabled person by denying a six-day accommodation for a delayed claim submission, which was due to my cognitive disabilities. Very Expensive, Claims Denied, Must Cancel to Speak with Customer Service. My first and only claim took 30 days to process and was denied. It was denied because I hadn't had a wellness check up 90 days prior to the claim date. You also have to wait two weeks once the plan is active before you can submit a claim. So they get two weeks pay without having to work. It's all for the benefit of themselves not the customer or the pet. I canceled the plan. They refused to refund any of the two months I already paid. I did some searches on the Internet again wondering how I missed how bad they are and found most of their reviews are paid reviews. I have had FETCH pet insurance for my currently 6 year old dog since he was a young puppy (back when it was PetPlan). I have submitted numerous claims for him for various illnesses and accidents over the years and every claim was handled smoothly. Yes, premiums go up annually and there is nothing 'cheap' about pet insurance, but I figure it is the price to be paid for knowing I can afford to give my pet the medical care he deserves should the occasion arrive (and they often do which is why insurance is not cheap). The online submission system is easy to use and reimbursements are deposited in your bank account quickly. Just be sure to ask for both the invoice and medical records (2 separate pdfs) from your vet to submit with your claim.

Been with them from at least 2019 to 2024, they signed me up for a competitively priced premium but jacked up the rates each year until I'm paying 1000$ a year for two domestic shorthair cats with no medical issues. Until now I've filed only 1 claim, for an xray on a swollen limb 4 years ago (~300$ payout), so it seems legitimate until recently I filed for reimbursement on a 1000$ vet bill for a possible bladder infection. Denied it this time; they found some technicality relating to the timing of filing notes. Over 5 years of paying them, but they're going to weasel out of some loophole when it comes time to pay you back. I've found a new insurer, for less than half the price, with loopholes, claim windows, and only a 3/14 day wait period on accidents/illness, which I won't mention for impartiality but, Fetch is a grift.

Vet advised the total final payment is around $800 and therefore I believe my insurance will cover all.
Today I was told they can only cover $280 due to they are not covering cremation. The major expense is the cremation and they are not cover. Do they expect me to take my pet’s dead body home?!?! In the past 10 years, I only made less than 4 minor claims which is only a few hundreds dollars each. Now they suddenly told me cremation is not included but not at the beginning when I called for information. That is totally unacceptable. As a person who grew up in a family business and through out my adult life I’ve owned and worked in eight of my own, I do not call a company out for poor performance lightly. In April 2023, I brought a puppy into my life, and purchased Fetch Pet Insurance. Harrison was one year old February 16, 2024. He had the first Vet examination as required within days, his vaccinations on time, and neutering, within the first six months of his life. He has never been sick, he didn’t require any other services. On March 7th, 2024 he ingested a prescription med when it hit the floor. I took him to an emergency pet center, they kept him overnight with fluids and observation. The invoice was just under 2K.
On March 8th, 2024, I filed a claim with Fetch on line, along with ALL the records I had for Harrison. Twice afterwards, Fetch asked for the records, and twice I sent them again. Then they sent an email stating that the claim was subject to not being paid because I had not sent the records. Today is April 17, 2024. This morning, in reply to my request as to why the claim was not paid, Fetch said my claim was on hold because I had not sent records. However I have emails from Fetch acknowledging their receipt of the records each time I sent them.
Clearly this is how Fetch does business, wearing out their clients until the client gives up, so they can deny the claim. Don’t not purchase this insurance, it is a waste of your money and time. A selling point Fetch uses is that most claims are paid within two weeks. Another is that their website has a “Chat” feature. They Do!, But it is limited to pre written general questions, and much the same as in the frequently asked questions, answered by a bot. And for entertainment, try calling Fetch.

They ended up refunding my account for two policies. Today I got a call from a chipper lady named Lindsay to let me know that they should have not totally refunded me because they had paid a claim prior to cancellation. She said I owed $1,032.19. I told her that it was Fetch's mistake not mine. She said what could they do to make it right. I said make so that I don't owe you nothing. Anyway she said in her oh so chipper voice that I had two weeks before it is presented to collections. In order to cut ties with Fetch, I went ahead and paid the money back. I told her I use to talk very glowingly about Fetch Pet insurance. Not anymore. I am quite happy with Nationwide. Thank you!

My experience with Fetch was poor. First, they wanted to charge me to reimburse an expense via check. They sent repeat emails urging me to sign up for direct deposit. However their app was so clunky that I didn't have a lot of confidence in their tech capabilities, let alone their cybersecurity. I wasn't going to give them my bank account info. But if I didn't sign up for direct deposit, they said they'd charge me $3 per check for any reimbursement. And they didn't tell me about this until after I signed up for the insurance plan.
Beyond that aggravation, their claims handling is inconsistent. To give some background, my dog is enrolled in a 12-month payment plan with his veterinarian for routine puppy expenses (neuter, shots, first exam, stool testing, etc.). This is a fixed expense for the year, but the vet provides a monthly payment plan to make it easy for customers. So I pay a monthly fee that covers the standard puppy care. Anything non-standard is charged separately. This is just a payment plan - there is no insurance provided by the vet. I sent Fetch all the paperwork for the vet's payment plan in September, so they understood how I was paying for things. My dog was simultaneously enrolled in a wellness benefit through Fetch, and they reimbursed me for his first exam per the wellness benefit. That was fine.
Fast forward a few months, and he was neutered and had bloodwork done. This was all standard puppy care that should be covered under the Fetch wellness benefit. But when I submitted for reimbursement, they denied the claim because he has "coverage through the vet." I pushed back and re-explained that he is just on a payment plan, not an insurance plan, through the vet. So he does not have vet "coverage," which Fetch should already know because they reimbursed his claim in September under the wellness benefit.
Well they denied it anyway, insisting that he has vet coverage. It was ridiculous. I honestly think their utilization review staff don't bother to look at the claims history beyond the claim they are reviewing. So if you go with Fetch, be ready to resubmit *all* the history with each claim (and have fun doing that on their awkward app). Don't trust them to look back at older claims. And don't be surprised if you get a denial anyway, despite jumping through that hoop.
Anyway, I wasn't going to maintain a wellness benefit that I can't use because Fetch doesn't understand what a payment plan is. I called them to cancel the wellness benefit, but they refused to cancel it because I got a reimbursement from my first claim in September. At this point, I was aggravated so I just cancelled the whole thing. This means I have to enroll in a different pet insurance plan, which is annoying. But I don't trust Fetch to handle future claims correctly, so I'm happy to go. Hopefully I have a better experience elsewhere.

Refusing such alterations, I faced an undeserved punishment of increasing rates by 30% and 40% in the years 2023 and 2024, respectively. Essentially, feeling strong-armed into reducing my coverage or canceling my policy.
According to the "Healthy Paws Cost of Pet Care Report" by Canine Journal, the average annual cost of pet insurance in New Jersey for a dog with unlimited coverage is $672. When compared with the $1775.92 price tag Petplan has levied upon me, this constitutes a 59% increase, which is preposterous. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has regulations in place requiring insurance companies to publicly explain any rate increase of 15% or more before its implementation, which Petplan is unable to do.
My pet has all his annual check-ups, necessary vaccinations, and preventative care, and raising my rates this high with no just cause appears deceptive. PetPlan is not basing my rates on the actual cost of insurance in NJ, my car, homeowners and medical insurance did not increase by 59% over the 2 years. Petplan's inability to provide a reasonable justification for this egregious 59% rate increase is an unethical practice of price gouging. I DO NOT RECOMMEND PURCHASING PET INSURANCE FROM PETPLAN (FETCH) underwritten by AXIS INSURACE CO. Their rate increases do not to reflect a fair market actual cost of insurance .

I have a French Bulldog and chose Fetch Insurance because they advertised coverage for breed-specific issues. My dog, who is now two years old and brachycephalic, had experiencing recurrent regurgitation. When he was a puppy at around 6 months old, we were unaware of this condition, as he is our first dog. We took him to the vet to investigate, but at that time, he was not yet insured. The vet recommended a specialized hydrolyzed food to test for allergies. We then enrolled in an insurance plan when the dog turned 8 months old.
Recently, when my dog turned 2 years old and the regurgitation persisted, we consulted the vet again and decided on surgery to improve his quality of life by addressing his breathing difficulties. To my surprise, when I submitted a claim to Fetch, they deemed this issue as pre-existing and denied coverage. Despite being a breed-related problem attested by the vet and clearly a breed issue, Fetch refused to honor the claim.
They said that the brachycephalic syndrome was considered pre-existing; however, the dog born brachycephalic, so it is not something that it is caused before the insurance. Unless I started my plan when the puppy still didn’t born, it will be always pre existent. As a concerned pet parent, I provide my vet with every detail of my pet's life, and it is disappointing that Fetch chose ALWAYS the situation in their favor. I promptly canceled my policy with Fetch and cannot recommend their services. It is disheartening to feel misled and taken advantage of by an insurance provider.

When my dog turned 6 they doubled my insurance, and when he turned 8 it tripled. No one from Fetch would help me find an alternative plan and there is zero customer support. I had their insurance since he was 1 with no major illnesses and claims. This past month the insurance went up to 2700.00 a year so I cancelled. I got quotes from other companies and none of the other companies were this high.

My oldest dog with no payouts since 2018 (payout was a couple hundred dollars), her annual premium in 2024 went from $501 to $1,710! Switching to USAA. Not waiting to see how much they raise my premium on my other 2 policies. If this is the way they treat long-time customers with multiple policies, can't imagine how they treat new customers. I had four senior pups. One of my pups Tinker was misdiagnosed three times and finally was diagnosed with a tumor on her spleen. I had unlimited limit for insurance so I submitted claims to help save her life. I was rewarded by Fetch by having her downgrade her policy when I had to renew. They cut her policy by 50%. So unlimited means limited if you use it. Tinker unfortunately died 2 months later. The anxiety level increased with my three other pups trying to establish a strategy that would keep their policies the same. I downgraded to 25,000 hoping that fetch would be satisfied. I only use insurance for regular visits to the acupuncturist every 2 months and cold laser therapy twice a month. Other vet visits I paid out of pocket fearing that I would have another congratulations letter rewarding me with another downgrade.
I email fetch eight times during 2023 asking them if I was still within the limits and what was the risk of my fur babies' policies being downgraded. I heard nothing. No response whatsoever. So I called up in December since I knew renewal was coming up in March and talk to an agent. He told me I was in good standing and that's the policies would be renewed with no changes. 3 weeks later I received another congratulations letter stating that my youngest Michi policy change to 70% reimbursement $500 deductible per condition and they kept $25,000 annual limit. The number they gave me to call was an AutoNation parts department number. I called the next day and was told I had no options. I had to accept or cancel the new policy. The reason cost to Loss ratio. Her premium was less than the other two that they kept the same that's because they were two years older than her I explained. Of course her premium was less. Even though over the past 5 years they have doubled and quadrupled their policies.
Since her policy has changed they reduce it by $800. That's creating more of a risk of her being downgraded every year if I use the policy. I believe that's what fetch wants me not to use the policy and keep the $2,200 or to cancel. My other two pups cost me $8,000 per year. Their agents are sympathetic yet most do not give accurate information. I started out with an annual deductible and when the new underwriters were hired it changed to per condition and when I complained they said I was always per condition. At that point they were at an age where it would be difficult to get insurance so I stayed and now I am stuck. Moral of the story if you submit claims be prepared to be downgraded without your knowledge. It would be better if they at least gave a cap on what they would pay out so a pet parent can be financially frugal with their claims.

Fetch uses dark patterns to trick and manipulate consumers into buying their insurance! They communicated my pet's insurance policy's effective date. The next day, they sent me an email named "coverage update," notifying me that my pet's illness and accident coverage, which is the core of the policy, would start only 14 days later. This means that my pet has no insurance for 14 days! They said it is (buried) in their terms and conditions while conveniently choosing not to make this substantial information available on the enrollment information page. I canceled my enrollment, and I am looking for another pet insurance company that is transparent with consumers.

Call me a curious cat as I saw so many 5-star reviews here. I'd leave zero if I could. I've been a loyal customer for over two years, faithfully paying premiums with the expectation that they would provide comprehensive coverage for my beloved cat's healthcare needs. However, my recent encounter with this company has been nothing short of frustrating and disheartening. My cat recently underwent tooth surgery. This procedure included a blood test and anesthesia administration, both of which were explicitly stated on Fetch's website to be covered under their policy for "every tooth." To my astonishment, Fetch denied my claim, citing it as "preventive care." This reasoning directly contradicts their claims of covering "every tooth" and renders their policy not only unhelpful but also inhumane in its refusal to cover necessary medical procedures.
As a responsible pet owner, I will not compromise on my pet's health due to the limitations of Fetch's policy. The purpose of pet insurance should be to ease the financial burden of essential healthcare for our pets, and Fetch has failed miserably in this regard. I strongly advise potential customers to reconsider using it. My experience has been unpleasant, and their coverage is far from comprehensive, despite their promises. I'm now exploring alternative insurance providers that can offer the reliable and humane coverage that every pet owner should expect.

I had been a a Fetch Dodo client for many years. I paid my insurance bill for my two dogs on time every time and never made a claim. Recently, I moved from one neighborhood to another (12 miles distance). When I called to update my address, they raised my premiums over 100% even though I moved to a very safe, affluent area. In other words, I was significantly penalized for moving. Their own customer representative even agreed with me that I should terminate the policies after he informed me of the crazy price increase, and he was unable to explain why that happened. I find that to be very suspicious and indicative of disgusting corporate greed... especially given the fact that I have been a long time customer that has only given them money and never cost them a dime. "Untrustworthy" is the word that now comes to mind when I hear the name of this company. If you become a customer, don't move because it's going to cost you BIG time!

(In Canada) Fetch by the Dodo (previously known as Petplan) is an unethical, untrustworthy and horrible company. For someone who is planning to enroll pet insurance, it’s better to avoid this company. I enrolled the pet insurance for my dog aged 3 months in 2021. At that moment, there was no medical check up report request but I was asked for it when I submitted a claim after 4 months because my dog got diarrhea. I felt upset and frustrated as there was no point to get a medical check up report after a vet visit with spending additional $200 for claiming $150.
The most ridiculous point was that a medical report was not required when the pet insurance was enrolled. But you will be asked for it when you make a claim. That was totally unacceptable. They just don’t want to give you a claim!!! I received the announcement from Petplan by an email about they exited Canada business. This was a release to me as I do not have to deal with this company anymore. However, they took my card info and debited the annual fee again and refused to refund. I have never authorized Fetch by the Dodo to make a payment from my card after 2021.
I called the customer service for a negotiation. Of course, they refused to refund. They have never provided a proper service to their customers but keep stealing the money from their pocket. Recently, I found out that there were a lot bad comments about this company. I write this as I wish no more pet owners will be another victim. As a pet owner, I just want to get a protection to my dog but I am kinda getting in a scam.

Pretty sure this is a fraudulent company. The ONLY way they’ll cover anything is if you purchase the insurance the day pet is born and DOESN’T have any issues. I bought a Bichon pup that was 1 yr old, he came from a home where he was neglected. The day after a got him I took him to vet because he had issues from being not cared for; ears filthy and urine scalding on his belly. Also, born with congenital phimosis.
All this was in September 2022. I paid for everything in cash. I also paid for him to have three surgeries for his phimosis and that was over $6000. I never made a claim for his phimosis. Now seven months later he has an ear infection and they refused to cover it because when I purchased him he had an ear infection. I’m wondering what else they will be refusing to cover. I’m not sticking around to find out while they continue to collect my quarterly payments and not pay a dime on any claim. Cancellation of my policy is my next step.

We called 12 times and each time we were told our file was complete and awaiting review. 6 months later, no response. We called again and the agent said "I think it's not going to get reimbursed". We asked "Why" and the agent said, "Well sometimes claims get lost in the system and passed around and nobody ever reviews it. I can't make a new one as the vet records are already assigned to this claim." We asked what we could do and she said, "nothing, you have to wait". Our vet called, our lawyers called, every time we are told it's awaiting review. This is from Fall 2022. Don't waste your time, they won't reimburse you, even for a small thing.

I adopted my 4 year old, healthy female cat from the SPCA on 12/28/22. I purchased insurance from FETCH on the same day. On 3/9/23, my cat became ill. I called 3 vets to get an appointment. The soonest available appointment was in 4 days. Rather than wait, I took her to an urgent care Vet on 3/10/23. I submitted the Vet's paperwork and receipt with my claim within 2 weeks of her visit. I received a request from FETCH's claim reviewer about 2 weeks later. To complete their review, FETCH needed evidence of a recent medical exam that would indicate she was in 'good health' dated no more that 6 months before the date of her urgent care visit.
I submitted a copy of the cat's 'Complete Medical History', given to me by the SPCA, a 2-page health summary which included: Identification, Vaccine history and due dates, treatment history and due dates, Diagnostic tests, and a complete physical exam by the SPCAs own veterinarian. My claim was denied, because there were 'no notes' on the exam. I went back to the SPCA to get any additional infomation they had. The SPCA confirmed that their vet had seen my cat and gave her a clean bill of health. In fact, the SPCA even spoke with FETCH and my claim was still denied.

It did take a while to get reimbursed but I had a ton of claims. I mean I was putting in a claim like every 2 days. So I expected that.
Every single person I had spoke to on the phone was very very helpful & made me feel very special I felt like they loved my pup like their own. It made the entire process easier. I was in the thousands with my vet bills. Very nervous that I was never going to get reimbursed.. I was thinking what are the chances.. Aprox 2 yrs ago we purchased the "Deluxe policy". According to the advertisement they ran and is currently running on CAffairs site "What isn't covered" does not exclude bug bites and any resulting illness caused by bug bites, yet after 1.5 yrs our dog Lexi was bitten by a mosquito that caused heartworms [vip to note we have religiously gave lexi heartworm pills monthly to prevent heartworms, yet as the vet explained they are not 100% effective] and yet Fetch rejected all of our claim from vet visit, vet required testing prescriptions and care to cure the illness.
This cost us over $2000 which we laid out 6months ago and fetch just denied our claim and requiring us to produce every vet visit since we got Lexi approx 1.5 yrs ago including routine wellness visits we never submitted any claim for!! Our vet advises us run away from any dog insurer who denies heartworm coverage. She advises 1 out of 4 illnesses she treats are bug bites, resulting in heartworm disease especially in hot climates. Please be mindful of this fraudulent company. I cannot believe they are in business still; it's a shame we let ourselves be fooled by insurance companies. Thinking they have our best interest at hearts. Not only did they take my money but when I needed my insurance for my bed for a visit they denied it. Waste of money and waste of time on a terrible company. Hope more regulations will be administered to this company and they will be penalized to pay back all consumers.
Spresime, we're sorry to have caused disappointment with your claims experience, and we hope to provide some clarity. After looking into this further, we see your denied claim is due to having no medical records on file other than for the date of service on your claim. When establishing your policy, it is essential to have your pet examined by a vet six months before the policy starts or within the first 30 days to determine that they don't have any relevant pre-existing conditions. You're asked to upload your pet's medical records when you submit a claim. We can reassess your claim; we need the SOAP notes from a vet exam within that time period, from the start date of your policy - 5/23/22. We'd be happy to help you through this process; you can call us at 866.509.0163 to speak with one of our agents.

I was a customer with Fetch, formerly PetPlan for 11 years. I finally bit the bullet and cancelled my membership today after being treated horrendously over the last four years or so, after the company exchanged hands. I really would like to understand how it's received four stars on this website. It's terribly unfortunate that innocent pet owners do not have an accurate depiction of this company and get lured into believing this company has their and their pet's best interests in mind. They do not! Once a pet has a previous condition you can't leave and have other companies provide any coverage for that condition. I waited as long as I did to leave for this exact reason.
Their customer service is awful. They don't return your calls. It doesn't matter how many times they say they will. They treat the customer like crap. No one seems to know anything. Nearly every person gives you a different answer and plays by different rules and has bad attitudes. Only ONE employee has a heart and genuinely cares and is adept at his job. I relied on that single individual so much I even tried to give him recognition but they removed that mechanism! The customer and their pet are dispensable to them.
The customer experience (i.e. retention) department told me to cancel my policy if I was unhappy. When I did cancel there were no offers made or an ounce of caring to keep me. From what I understand, having talked to my new pet insurance company, they've heard this same story time and time again from customers just like me regarding this company. They've even informed me that they have several class actions lawsuits against their business practices.
They raise their rates exponentially as the dog ages, making it useless to even retain it for senior pets because you pay more than you get in return. Their yearly deductible is PER condition, not total like the others. They say they have a reduced rate if you don't submit any claims within the policy period but they don't tell you that it starts two months before the actual policy term and they don't give you anything in writing. When I asked for this, they told me they don't provide it in the policy documents but "they just know." And THAT my friend is how this company is run. If I had a dollar every time I was told this.... They are an AWFUL AWFUL company. Just take a look at their Better Business Bureau cases! Please don't support them!

I have been a customer of Fetch (formally PetPlan) since my Lab mix was a puppy eight years ago. I now have two more pups that I signed up, 6 yr old Beagle mix, Chip, and a 2 yr old Dachshund, Salsa. Just this past summer my Lab mix, Pretzel, was diagnosed with cancer. It is heartbreaking. But because I have Fetch I was able to submit my receipts and Vet diagnosis for reimbursement. It has greatly relieved our anxiety. So far we have been reimbursed a little over $2000. And we are not finished. Once approved it's easy to submit the claims and get reimbursed. In my case it was the next day. Because of Fetch we can focus on our pup’s treatment and not the financial situation.

I have had pet insurance for three years. I have never completed a claim. This year I called the CSR and asked how to complete a claim. I had told her my second puppy who is also insured had to have vet appointments. A few issues, ear issue, I had a total of 5 receipts. I asked the CSR if I can wait and submit them all and the rep said yes. Puppy two had his neuter and I submitted 5 vet receipts from 2022. Unfortunately some came back as declined as I now have learnt that there is a window for you to submit a claim. I asked for a manager to follow up as the rep just stated it’s in the terms.
I think it is disappointing service as, one, I’ve never claimed with Fetch, 2, I was provided incorrect information as there is a time period for submittal, 3 no manager followed up. Very quick to take renewal payment, but when I needed help you fell very short on providing service and providing correct information. If I was told the correct details, I would have submitted as the vet bills came through for it to be assessed. Due to this and lack of follow up from Customer service I will most likely take my business elsewhere.

Overall, way below average experience with Fetch Pet Insurance. I dropped the policy on both my dogs and honestly not sure if any pet insurance is worth it now. While the claim system seemed fairly straightforward, they required a pretty extensive amount of medical records (which we had to get from multiple vets since we had moved) for really basic claims. I get that it can be part of the process, but needing absolutely everything for a cut paw seems excessive. Communication wasn't great.
Also...lesson learned on my part to schedule my vet appointments around the pet insurance renewal date I guess. Because like with human health insurance, pet health insurance should dictate our medical care more than anything else (please note the sarcasm here). I had an appointment (with a claim) for my dog on the very last date of the annual policy, so they put all of it toward my deductible and we got nothing back. Then when she had multiple ER visits a few weeks later for an unrelated issue, they took out the deductible again because now it was a new year. Yes, I get the technicality. It was still a crappy experience. There was no communication from Fetch whatsoever that our renewal was coming up, so I guess that just needs to be one of the million things I have to keep track of so we don't get ** by the system.
We lost money in our year with Fetch, and their customer service wasn't sympathetic whatsoever. Pretty condescending. Again, I get the technicality. But I've worked with other insurance companies who actually try to help me save money and get the money I deserve, not say "too bad so sad" when I'm sitting there with $1500 in bills and hardly anything reimbursed from my own insurance company. And then the way they tried to "keep me" when I canceled the policy was to insinuate that we won't get a better deal elsewhere because other companies will now consider my dog to have a preexisting condition. She had a cut paw... that's not a chronic condition. It's an injury. The whole thing's just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Fetch is the WORST insurance ever. I’m sure all insurance companies aren’t great but we’ve had this one since the day we adopted Loki. He was a 7 month old rescue and they have said literally everything is a pre- -existing condition and even though we pay every month they pay for nothing and it's been 2 years now. About 10 months after getting him he started to have some weird symptoms and a year and a half after adopting him found how he has lupus. Over that time we have had multiple phone calls with them, emails from our vets and ourselves and none of it has done any good.
Our most recent claim was denied. It was for 2k and they said it was due to him having lupus - he had lumps all over his under belly and so the vet wanted to do a biopsy - it turned out it was a bunch of ingrown hairs due to him going into remission and all his hair growing back (really something to celebrate). They also found out that the problem plaguing him wasn't lupus (though that's what he has) but it was an infection that had caused the lesions we'd been fighting to begin with. But none of that mattered because their only goal is to take your money and not pay anything out ever.
They aren’t humane. They don’t call you back. They don’t work with you. It’s just a money grubbing company and the worst part is on the other end of all this is a poor, helpless dog who just needed some love and attention. If you’re going to be an insurance company for animals have a freaking heart. We'd go somewhere else but as he has a pre-existing condition (for real now, not when we was fine at 7 months old when we adopted him and go the insurance the same minute) and so it will be just as bad if not more expensive. We are however looking into options.
Jessica, we're sorry to have caused disappointment with your claims experience. Our team was able to look into this further, and we hope to provide some clarity. A pre-existing condition is anything that happens before you enroll or during the waiting period. It's important to know that all pet insurance providers do not cover pre-existing conditions. Based on the medical records we have on file from 8/20/20, it's noted that Loki was showing signs of the conditions prior to the start of the policy. This is why the lupus erythematosus, cysts, chronic skin issues and associated symptoms were determined to be pre-existing. If your veterinarian can provide you with additional documentation to show Loki's symptoms weren't onset by a pre-existing condition, you can request a reassessment of your claims. If you have any further questions about your claims or the reassessment process, please give us a call at 866.509.0163; we'd be happy to help.

I'm really glad I have this, because both of my cats have had emergencies in the past couple of months. One of them needed 2 life-saving surgeries, and I wouldn't have been able to afford them without insurance. The process of submitting a claim is pretty easy, and I got reimbursed pretty quickly. But the deductible is per year PER condition, so even though there were 2 related conditions, I had to pay it twice. Also, they deduct it after they've adjusted for the percentage, so you end up having to pay more.
For example, my deductible is $500, so I should have received some reimbursement for my cat's $700 bill, right? Wrong, because they only calculate the deductible after adjusting the total to the 70% they cover. That's pretty shady. When it was all said and done with multiple vet trips for both cats, although the policy claims to cover 70%, because of the deductible language, it only covered half. Better than nothing, I suppose, but it doesn't match my expectations after paying into this for a decade with only 1 small previous claim.

Updated on 04/19/2023: I'm sad to report that our beloved Patience was euthanized over Easter after a third and devastating blood clot. Fetch pet insurance has been excellent in covering our (many and expensive) vet and cardiologist visits and meds for the past three years since her initial saddle thrombosis, including the euthanasia (not the cremation but we didn't expect that to be covered). Once the deductible was met they did not charge it again and direct deposit reimbursement was done quickly. It was well worth the cost of the insurance, the reimbursement covered the cost of her 10+ years of coverage and some toward the premiums for our other three cats. As a family on a restricted income the Fetch coverage let us give Patience the care she needed to enjoy 3 years with us after what was pretty much a death sentence without struggling to pay the vet bills.
Original Review: For everyone who thinks pet insurance isn't worth the cost I offer my experience. I have four cats (feral rescues) and for many years I thought the same - small claims not adding up to the premiums. But a few months ago our beloved Patience (mother of our other cats) had a second saddle thrombosis - a blood clot that often proves fatal and has a low post survival life expectancy. Look it up! She recovered from the first one but this one was worse. Over $5K in vet bills and treatment ongoing. Our girl has survived and doing much better, but my husband is disabled so we are chronically short of money. The 80% reimbursement from Fetch was so incredibly helpful, and Fetch also pays 80% of the expensive meds she will be on for life. They pay fast too. You never think this will happen to your pet, especially when young and healthy, but when catastrophic things happen. It's well worth having the coverage. Thanks Fetch.

It was done in 4 so I was ecstatic until I looked over it and realized I was recharged for my entire deductible when I should have been charge for less than half of it. So I reach out and have it reassessed but am told it would take 30 days. Why does the reassessment take longer than the assessment? I was hoping it would be like the first time and take less than 15 but it took at least 28 days. Pretty upsetting especially since I had done the math at home in an hour and knew what I was owed.

I reached out to them after receiving an online quote and going through the policy summary sent by the company. In particular I wanted to confirm their comprehensive dental policy was as written because I fall directly in this category and this would be the reason I buy this policy. (Pasted the wording taken from them below). I talked with their insurance agent who basically told me the written policy summary they provide online is fake???
I read what they have written word for word to the broker, the broker said despite what they have written down, it would be an “pre-existing condition” and not covered. I pressed because their policy is very clear, and this means they are misrepresenting their policies. The broker would only repeat, "I will pass this feedback along…." I was honestly shocked at how blatant and untrustworthy this company is. If at the get go they are this untrustworthy, I will steer clear!!
Also please see below their comprehensive dental policy which apparently is fake: "Dental injury and disease to all teeth, not just the canines, is included with no broad exclusions. Your policy will cover non-routine dental treatments, provided your pet has had its teeth checked by a veterinarian within sixty (60) days prior to the effective date of the policy, and any treatment recommended as a result of a veterinary check-up was carried out."

If you consider a dog having tartar at every vet visit a preexisting condition you’re nothing but a scam and your explanation means nothing other than your excuse not to pay out a claim. If you find me any dog who hasn’t had tartar from the minute they are born would be a miracle as even humans go to a dentist 2-3 times a year to clean their teeth and we brush and floss. Either way increasing premiums and denying claims based on the inevitable is essentially a crime in my books. You’ve taken approximately $15-20k of my money for both my pets with basically hardly any claims and when the time matters you have loopholes to make the position of owing a pet difficult while you profit. I will not rest with this answer and raise the issues with pet insurance to ensure pet owners aren’t continuously scammed.

Our dog, which we've had since he was a 9 week old puppy, had been living an ordinary and healthful life for over 8 years. We signed up with Fetch as we put his new collar on for the first time. Our spirited and healthy dog was suddenly and irreversibly blind. We had never needed to submit claims to Fetch before, so when I found myself saddled with hundreds of dollars of veterinary bills I worried that the process would be daunting and contentious (to prove my dog's legitimate ailment, doctor visits to identify the issue and the diagnosis).

Fetch's system is set up to make it impossible to get paid for your claims. Weeks of texts saying they are reviewing my claims, followed by "you didn't upload the right documents", followed by more "we need more documents", followed by another "we need two years of medical history to pay out your claim". My dog isn't even 2 years old! When you call the number on the app, no matter which option you push. You will get a recording and a text saying submit your info online. Even if you chose the option to "wait for an agent" you will get recording that says they don't understand your request and to call back later.
This company doesn't want to pay you if you a file a claim and they make the system exhausting and impossible to navigate. They should be ashamed of themselves! It's heart breaking to see a company take advantage of people trying to get legitimate care for a sick pet. I don't know how the people who work here sleep at night. I have been paying for this service for over a year and never had to use it, they happily took every dollar they could from me now they won't pay out less than $500 in claims! Here is the problem, if it was sickness that the cat Might have had before issuing the policy I would understand that pre existing excuse… But an injury doesn’t have pre existing condition, it happens and it shouldn’t excluded from coverage even if the insured had a similar injury before… In other words they will take your money and when the time comes won't pay your 600$ claim knowing you won’t pay a lawyer for a small claim like that… Just not worth the money… I paid over 1000$ in premium to get nothing back from. I obviously canceled my dog and cat plans And I believe you should too…

My dog is 8; have had his policy since 2014; never a claim. His policy price has doubled since 2019 which alone shocked me. But, I stuck it out. He has been healthy until now; diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma on his nose. Thank goodness I have insurance; or so I thought. Close to 8k so far in surgery and diagnosis charges. Now he needs treatment which I find out today. And yet, the response I receive this afternoon is that they want two years worth of wellness exams or they won't pay. Are you serious? In the midst of the hell we have been living in with Covid the past two years and you are going to tell me that since I can't produce all his healthy records for the past two years (even though I have one year's worth) you won't pay for my claim. I can't even fathom this. I can even show you pictures of how quickly I caught this cancer. I am beyond disappointed that this company could try any angle to get out of paying.

Claims are processed very quickly and the website makes it very easy to file a claim. The best of all is everything is done electronically including the refund. I don't have to ask my vet to fill out any paperwork.

I was quite distraught when my Labradoodle was diagnosed with undetermined liver problems. What a comfort to know that Fetch was helping pay the vet bills while I concentrated on treating Nugget and getting him well. The timely reimbursements helped me to continue treating my pet so that he could return to active service as a therapy dog. He brings so much joy to the Alzheimer’s patients he visits weekly. Thank you, Fetch for sharing the burden of his care.
Connie, we’re so glad we could be there when you needed us the most. We hope Nugget is feeling better and it’s so lovely how much joy he is able to bring as a therapy dog. We appreciate you taking the time to share your review and are so grateful for your membership!

Had several instances where our pup Sherman needed care outside of normal check ups. Scanned the receipts with my phone, submitted, and had my claim processed and direct deposited in my account within 2 weeks. No push back, no questions….just made it happen. Worth the price of the policy.

I attempted to chat with a representative regarding questions on a submitted claim on 4 separate occasions and finally gave up. I completed a survey on the chat and gave poor ratings and even requested a call, but that was over a month ago and I still haven’t heard from anyone.

One of the most frustrating companies I’ve ever dealt with. Took months to get an answer to a claim. No one answered emails or calls. When I did get through, the response was “we don’t have any claims for Sacchi.” My cat’s name is Max! Prices were raised extremely high even when I had filed no claims!

I was very frightened I would lose my pup, I knew it would be costly to save her, but Fetch was there for us and she is on the mend? It was easy to file a claim. I was so happy they were there for us, Holly is recovering well, and will be on meds & blood work being checked, but the stress is off.

We are very please with the quick turnaround time of our initial claim. The process was fairly easy and straight. I would highly recommend this coverage for any pet lover looking for peace of mind. We don’t like the risk of dealing with a huge medical bill so this allows us to budget accordingly.

Fetch reached out to me and we got things resolved. I still think the huge increase is crazy but at least we got the new pricing figured out. I'm still a customer.

I have had insurance through Fetch for 6 or 7 years. I got it for my puppy back when it was Petplan. They have always been good and easy to work with. Customer service was always helpful. The price goes up each year which I expect. However, this year when it renewed, the price rose by 41%!! I called to ask why and they said it was based on my dog's age and breed. We haven't had any major issues and just one small claim. The rep suggested that I downgrade the coverage to save money. He emailed me several quotes. I chose one and thought that was the end of it.
When I went online to verify the payment, it was 15% more than what he quoted me. I called back in and they essentially told me that he made a mistake and that they wouldn't honor the quote. I don't appreciate the way they handled things and now it's not worth the money. So, after all these years, I cancelled and will look for another company. I don't know what has changed with them. It's unfortunate though.

If I could give the "Fetch" pet insurance company (previously Petplan) zero stars I would. Where do I start???? I've been a customer since November 2021 and have paid over $400.00. I have called and called, chat and etc. for them to call my Veterinary Office for medical records. They told my vet that I said they were refusing to send the medical records, which I never said that. They then sent via chat what my vet supposedly sent them. The wrong client and wrong dog. My vet claimed they never sent it. I called and was promised they would call my vet and that never happened. My vet office even thought they were difficult.
Finally, I emailed them and it took them FOUR days to respond. I had a claim in January 2022 and March 2022. They denied my English Bulldog soft palate surgery. They stated it was pre-existing. They never did the nail claim from January. I have chatted and told them to cancel my policy since they stop taking calls after about 5 or 6 pm. I was then told I had to call to cancel my policy. I emailed them. I am DISGUSTED by the lack of customer service and lack of care Fetch shows. They need to be reported to the Better Business Bureau. I wouldn't recommend this insurance to my worst enemy.

Here in Canada, I purchased pet insurance through Petplan, whose name has recently changed to Fetch (US company). I have had this policy on my 5 year old female dog for many years. Recently, I received notice that my annual policy premium will increase by 40% and frankly, I am shocked. NO claims were made in the year leading up to this ridiculous price increase. Having spoken with a Fetch representative, I still do not know how they justify this kind of increase, when other companies have not had similar increases. I will never recommend this company.
Betty, we understand your frustration with your annual renewal increase and we hope to provide some clarity. This increase depends on the risk to insure your pet and is based on a few factors, the three main ones being age, breed and location. Please feel free to contact us at help@fetchpet.com; we'd be happy to review your policy details and see how we can help.

I have been with Fetch (previously Pet Plan) for close to 20 years with my 3 cats. In that time, I have seen them go from very customer-driven to almost exclusively profit-driven. Their policies now appear to always prioritize their savings over customer payouts (so the pet owner gets as little as legally possible). Examples: They will apply another deductible whenever possible - so if your pet goes in for weight loss and then is diagnosed with diabetes, you have to pay a new deductible. They deduct the co-insurance first (which greatly lowers what they have to pay you). And now they are applying the co-insurance before you have even met your deductible. My puppy is now on another insurance that offers one, annual deductible and I am seeing a huge difference - and way less headache. I would strongly suggest that pet owners continue shopping!
Erica, we understand your frustration. We'd be happy to look into this further and see how we can help. Please share your policy details with us at help@fetchpet.com.

Our pets have been insured with FETCH for almost a year. In December 2021 one dog tore his ACL. I asked the insurance company his surgery would be covered and they said yes. This is almost 5 months later and we were never reimbursed. They told me the funds were sent but we never received any money. IMO this is a FRAUD and a huge SCAM!!! We were asked over and over to resend the same info, they had my dogs full medical history from the time he was 8 months old and they claimed it was not enough!!! They told me repeatedly I was the one to blame and to this day they have never reimbursed us!! HOWEVER THEY HAVE SENT NUMEROUS EMAILS STATING YOU'VE BEEN APPROVED. YOUR MONEY IS ON THE WAY!!! Do not do business with this company!!!
