Bought an item. It got lost all over the place by the post office, even went to an abandon home then made it back to the seller. After I filed a complaint to the damn foreign nightmares. Got banged over the head, supposed to get a refund, never got that either. EBay wants my DOB, SS and bank accounts. WRONG! There needs to be another payment system other than PayPal. Between the ever growing fees, the lack of exposures of my very few item that I do or did sell, no responses or sales. They don't care at all because it is a racket. EBay/PayPal need to be broke up and be separate. 25% of a sale to them means nothing for me. Add the fees up and why bother. Their words are lies. Their customer service is a joke. I want to speak to an American that does not work for either on, who is a referee.
I don't scam. I do sell anything anymore and eBay is out the door. 11 Main St or Amazon is my next stop. And with the new rules they want to put in force, Donahoe can kiss this seller/buyer good bye. They owe me 70 bucks, but want me to pay them 63. Why, they claim that the refund went to the bank - bank can't find it. It was set to a dead card. Their security is a joke. Trust & safety is a joke and I have had it. They have destroyed the auction world with cheap stuff and made it impossible for anyone to really do business anymore. Bye Bye eBay. Google told you bye. 11 Main is here and Amazon is on your ** ready to eat your lunch. And the hacking was the last straw. Security my **. I do InfoSec and know that they are lying. I really don't need eBay anymore. Amazon and Google and 11 Main will be just fine. And all better not use PayPal either. If they do, well bye-bye to them as well. I will not support a criminal organization for any reason.

In the past 6 months or so, we have had one bad experience after another. First with items that are factory seconds sold as brand new. Great shape items... They weren't even close. Found out the different sellers were all one main source... Finally get that taken care of. Then I order a recliner cover. It says delivered. Only trouble is it wasn't here. Contact seller as UPS says to. They say it was delivered... Case closed! I call ebay, I get the ebay runaround. This is $29.00 that we can NOT afford to lose. What now... UPS says seller has to be the one to start a track to locate the item and what happened to it. Case closed... We are just out the money? We have a few items ordered yet to receive. When they arrive, we are done with ebay. In the meantime, what about this? Thank you.

I have been an active buyer on eBay for the last two years, and a seller since last October. I have glowing feedback, both as a buyer and a seller - not a single negative review. As Weird Al sings, "They love me on eBay!" I bought a vintage Japanese teapot with a rattan handle which was described by the seller as in perfect condition. The pictures posted with the listing show a fine item, completely intact, with an undamaged handle. When the item arrived at my home the handle was detached from the teapot and broken, missing important elements that were needed to make the handle functional. The shipping box did not contain any of these missing pieces, so I concluded that this item was already broken when the seller sent it to me.
Before contacting the seller I did a minor amount of gluing on what was left of the handle in order to create a hook, so that the handle could at least be set on the teapot, even though it could never be relied upon to bear any weight. Then I contacted the seller, politely explained the issue and said I'd wait until the seller got back to me before leaving feedback. Oh, My Goodness! Then began the accusations: attempted feedback extortion, inconsistency in describing the issue, belligerence and threatening behavior (because I typed a couple of sentences in caps, for emphasis). According to the seller, my fatal mistake was in applying a little glue to the remains of the handle before contacting her. That voided the postal service's ability to offer me a refund, and at that point there was nothing the seller could do to make things right for me. The seller continued to claim that the item had been in great shape when she sent it to me.
So, I opened a case in the eBay resolution center, requested a partial refund, posted a number of pictures showing the poor, pitiful remains of the rattan handle and spoke to an eBay rep who expressed dismay at the seller's unreasonableness and assured me that eBay would render a judgment I'd be happy with. Well, eBay ruled against me. No explanation, just the message that the judgment had gone in favor of the seller. I left negative feedback for the seller, but this morning she sent me a gloating message in which she told me that my feedback had been removed from her site. As I told the eBay rep who had been so sympathetic - this is not a matter of a huge outlay of money, but it outrages my sense of fairness and justice. I feel that the eBay resolution people should at least have the courtesy to explain why their decision went as it did.

My store was suspended and I am getting a bill for $67. I called ebay customer support and was on phone for more than an hour, transferred to five different customer representatives. Finally I was told that the balance is for items I sold and not for store subscription. It doesn't make sense because I am sure ebay doesn't charge $67 fees for $5.50 in sales. Then I was told I will get breakdown of charges in next month email. Next month's bill arrives without a breakdown. My question is still unanswered. What a rip off. Planning on a lawsuit for destroying my business and unfair practices.

I sold a laptop to a guy from Singapore and requested the cheapest shipping possible. I shipped the item and I told him it would take 2-3 months for the cheapest rate. I have emails confirming he was okay waiting and just wanted the cheapest rate possible. I sent the item and he opened a case against me stating he didn't get the item. eBay refunded his money after 2 months, then 2 days later the tracking showed that he received the item. Because I didn't pay for signature confirmation they sided with the buyer. He got the laptop for free! eBay acknowledged that he probably got the computer but there's nothing I can do! eBay is getting really really bad!!!

I received an email stating that my bid was canceled on an item I purchased two months ago as a Buy it Now. That was paid, delivered and positive feedback was left and returned. Obviously, the canceled bid is some kind of spoof. In less than a minute, I receive an official email from eBay announcing the suspension of my account, with a code **. I called customer service. Their only reply "you cannot repeal, this is a suspension - nothing can be done and we are not allowed to give out further information as to why". I was in complete shock and beyond angry to hear this.
I've been an eBay seller and buyer since 1993 and have a perfect rating and above standard average. Never a late shipment - always shipped within 24 hours and never sold anything even remotely questionable. After my third called to customer service they gave me an email to appeal this issue. I wrote four emails - and it's now day three and not one simple reply. The way I am being treated is an absolute disgrace and so unprofessional. I need to get through to someone higher than an outsourced blockade.

Received email from eBay stating my account was below standard policies from a few buyers' opening claims. The claims were people getting items and opened claim a month later saying they sent item back and never was refunded. Even though I never had an email from buyer! Another one was a buyer bought item two days before New Year's Day, and wasn't there in two days, and filed case as item not received before he was leaving town. The main one they mentioned, a buyer bought item, I explained in detail of item, and they said a problem was a pair of jeans didn't fit. I tried to work out situation if they were a different size or if too small, etc before offering return. Only item I decided to question before automatically refunding. They were very hard to deal with also.
My seller account was restricted permanently without warning, probation or anything. All items listed were removed. Not even a limit! I pay ebay between $100-$200 month in fees and rating over 1250 with several times a monthly power seller status. Never any compassion for seller's disputes with all the fraud some buyers attempt!

I have been a long time eBay buyer and seller for a few months. I have done everything in my power to achieve 100% feedback from my consumers. I have had two incidents where eBay has ruled in favor of the buyer. The first being the arrival of a lamp shipped by UPS to the buyer in pieces. Now tell me how do I have control over how a shipper handles packages? I argued it was packed well and provided pictures and other documentation and eBay still ruled in favor of the buyer. What I read later eBay 99% of the time rules in favor of the buyer. Then I had to deal with UPS because the package was insured and they refused to pay. I discovered later they never, I mean never pay the consumer who uses their service.
The second incident with eBay, a buyer purchased a pair of ray ban sunglasses and then wanted his money back because they fit him small. I explained to the buyer my listing indicated "no returns" and also listed the measurements. About a week and a half later, he filed a case without contacting me. eBay immediately put a hold on my account and asked that I contact the buyer to resolve the situation. I contacted the buyer right away by email to attempt to resolve the situation by explaining the listing stated no returns and the size of the glasses was written in the listing. Well I received several disparaging responses from the buyer claiming the sunglasses were counterfeit and I was a dishonest seller. I finally had to tell him to stop because he was bordering on harassment.
He even posted negative feedback stating I was dishonest and sold him fake sunglasses. I did manage to get eBay to remove the negative feedback. All of these emails were seen by eBay but it didn't seem to matter. I was counseled by eBay reps all along on what to do so the case would be ruled in my favor. Boy was that baloney. I sent the buyer an email agreeing to refund his money if he returned the glasses in the same shape he received them and provide me with the tracking number. He never provided the tracking number. I finally received the glasses back and they were scratched, one of the arms were broken, and the case had gauges in it. I contacted eBay, hoping to get support and instead was told, "That's the cost of doing business so I am ruling in favor of the buyer and will force the refund." That's how eBay supports the sellers. I am livid. I am pulling all of my items and will never use eBay again.

I had a seller send me the wrong item. The item they sent me was worth about $5. The one I paid for was $142. So I started going through the process of contacting eBay. Turns out eBay does not do anything even if you call customer support. They walk you through the process but they will not do anything for you, nothing. They told me after I created my case that after 4 days, I can escalate it. But what they didn't tell me is after 30 days, you're screwed if something does not happen within 30 days.
They cancel your case and no refund will ever be given after that. What a bunch of **. eBay sucks and I will never buy anything from them again. By the way, they shipped me to the Philippines for customer support when I'm in America. How about giving some Americans a job. Once again, eBay is the scumbags of the earth.

Called and called EBAY and got many layers and layers of run around and endless hold by uninterested non-Americans with strong accents that just spoke over me according to script. I had great difficulty understanding. It was all rigged and just a scam. I received very nasty abusive feedback and I was not allowed to even respond, although I did nothing wrong at all. I even received a personal email from the buyer saying: "GO ** YOURSELF" Yet I have abusive feedback and was told that nothing can be done about it, not even a response to the feedback?

I have striven to have 100% feedback since starting to sell on eBay 9 months ago, and have succeeded. I have sold close to 200 items and I'm still at 100%. But I woke up a week ago to find that eBay had put me on a type of probation where I can still sell things but my funds are held till the item is received and the buyer leaves feedback. This is also done when you first start selling on eBay to make sure you are going to do what needs to be done, but once you are selling for 90 days, this is lifted.
After 3 hours on the phone I found out that feedback means nothing to eBay; they strictly go by their star ratings. Even though I am at 100% feedback, I have had 3 complaints in 9 months that shipping is too high. Now eBay decides the shipping rate. I simply put in how much the item weighs and the dimensions of the item and shipping is calculated for me. Now you ask how can I get in trouble for something I have NO control over? Good question. Who knows, but I am here to tell everyone... Do NOT focus on your feedback, eBay no longer cares... Beg your customers for 5 stars because that is what eBay looks at.

My business is selling auto body parts and have been a member of EBAY for 12 months. With over 350 items sold, we only have had 3 complaints and those were from customers who wanted refunds. Out of these three, one was a fraudulent claim that the customer took the part we shipped (verified with photos) and took pieces off in order to get a discount. This was the only claim that we refused to refund and EBAY went ahead and paid the buyer and gave us negative ratings for this. Had we known that this was going to have our account suspended, we would have refunded this customer and just took a loss in order to settle it. We also have over a 97% positive feedback rating but with their system being so unfairly ranked, we were still told we were not allowed to sell anymore on EBAY and had our account suspended. I am just in shock that this company has such biased and unfair practices for small business owners.

I have been a member of eBay for some 12 yrs plus. Buying but mostly selling. Recently I feel that they have moved all UK support overseas. Whereas previously I could speak to somebody in Ireland, now it’s always overseas and unfortunately they mostly don’t have a simple understanding of the English language. We pay each month for the use of the eBay platform for selling and when we need support there is none to be had. I have had to repeat the issues three or four times and the agent still hasn't grasped what I'm trying to resolve. Did eBay make it public knowledge that their call centers were "ALL" going offshore because if they did I missed it. Maybe it’s time to look at the Amazon trial!!

I am a disabled mother who has been subsidizing my income on eBay for 10+ years with 100% positive feedback... All of the sudden, they started by allowing customers to leave anything on feedback they want even if it's a complete lie. Then they ban me saying that some imaginary information they received from customers about me was not up to their "new" standards. I asked to see the information, but no, they don't even let you see what they are claiming is negative reviews even though I know my customers were happy. I asked them if there was anything I can do. They said no, you are just banned for life! What! Us small seller made them what they are and now for no reason booting us all out. How can they do that in this economy... They just don't care!
Now there are thousands out of jobs, myself included. They don't care about people at all! We need to unite and start our own auction site that actually cares. But until then I may lose my house and everything else I worked so hard for. There are no auction sites that generate good sales. If that wasn't bad enough, they are now advertising big box stores on the sellers item pages. THE ALL-MIGHTY DOLLAR - THAT'S ALL EBAY CARES ABOUT.

My greatest complaint is that if I did that as a seller, who didn't have the thousands in sales that "Hermosa" has, eBay WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO LIST. WTF is going on? Why is the US allowing eBay to get by with this and not stop the Chinese from using a US format for selling fake items? I am completely confused!

No selling! I don't feel too angry of this. I still kept making purchases from them with that same account.
I have saved over hundred dollars eBucks when I realized again they banned my buying account! This time, I call to talk to them about the reason to suspend me. They don't explain it to you. Lately I've been automated e-threats from eBay on a weekly basis. I'm a small time seller, selling my unwanted personal items. I removed a few listings that weren't selling because I found the receipts and could return them to department stores without losing money, which would have happened if they actually did sell on eBay. I immediately received pop-ups threatening to charge me money if I removed too many listings. I've listed unused parts of items that people may need and have had my listings pulled and accused of promoting illegal activity. WTF?
I've had many numerous other problems with sellers and buyers. Deadbeat non-paying buyers that don't experience any recourse for their actions while eBay holds my money and keeps my items captive until the case closes. Sellers that describe items as new or almost new, and when I receive the item the garbage can is too good for it. Open cases by the dozens in just 3 months. I removed all of my listings just hoping that they dare to charge me for doing it. I also logged into PayPal and removed the ability for eBay to auto charge me. Once all of my en-route items I've bought and sold are delivered (should only be a few more days) and the buyers are happy I'm removing my credit card information from eBay.
I'm refusing to pay my current invoice balance and I hope they suspend my account for all eternity. I'll need the funds to pay my medical expenses incurred from direct and systematic abuse from eBay's automated software program. Being in modern times I am choosing to no longer participate in the modern eBay holocaust. Thank God we have a choice. I'm hoping for a mass Exodus. There are better venues, much better, for selling and buying. You may not get the quick turn around that you do with eBay. However, if you are not in a hurry to sell something and eBay isn't the way you make your living you may want to try Amazon, Bonanza, Etsy, etc.

On June 8, I placed an eBay order for 10 items totaling $157. The website, on its own initiative, split this order into two shipments. 9 items were shipped to the right address, but the 10th was going to ship to a former address which I had deleted. I immediately spotted the error and called eBay. A customer representative listened to my complaint and promised she would correct the error immediately. When I failed to receive the promised e-mail confirmation of this correction, I called back several times. Each attempt cost me over an hour in cell time and got me only a promise to return my call, which never happened.
Finally on June 23, I called for a final time. I was told that there was nothing they could do, since the item had already been shipped. I complained further and was promised a return call, but it was never received. I then called PayPal as a last resort. Their representative got a "problem-solver" from eBay on a three-way, and he offered to help. But as soon as the PayPal rep disconnected the eBay jerk basically told me that, although he agreed it was eBay's fault, there was nothing he could do.

However, I did not received the item because the seller who shipped the item refused to purchase a signature confirmation which would allow the buyer or someone else in the house to sign for the item; and as a result of such negligence of the seller, the shipping company left the item outside and it was stolen. I open a claim with eBay and PayPal and they refused to comply. A buyer cannot be held responsible for the seller not purchase delivery confirmation to make sure that the buyer, who spends money for the item, actually received what was paid for.
EBay's Policy clearly states that, "We'll get your money back fast. You'll hear from us in 48 hours. If you still haven't received your item, or it isn’t as described, we’ll refund your purchase price, plus the original shipping." EBay refuses to follow through on their own policy. EBay’s new seller standard, defect rating policy is 100% illegal. Any low volume seller (less than 400 sales a month) will have their account be "judged" by their selling practices for the previous 12 months. During this 12 month period, the seller was following different rules, guidelines and standards and selling according to those OLD or previous rules. It's that simple. For eBay to rate sellers on new standards for a time period when they were following old standards is ILLEGAL. Why are they allowed to get away with this?

The second time, same excuse for suspending it. I provided information, but when I went to eBAY to look at my account and if anything about it was different, I find someone named Muhammed in Indonesia was now my main shipping address. Evidently this was the account they had linked me to. It took forever to get to someone who would do something about this and did not believe "Muhammed" was my 2nd account even though every thing else in my account originated in Louisiana.
I was particularly concerned that if I was viewing Muhammed's name, address and phone number, what information of mine was he seeing, as one of the reasons for the suspension was similar financial information. The eBay rep assured me he couldn't see anything of mine. If that's the case, how in the world did he have similar financial information? Nevertheless, their first recommendation, once they realized that having a primary shipping address in Indonesia didn't make any sense, was to change all my passwords. Really? The rep just assured me that nothing had happened, but now I'm supposed to change all my passwords? My store was building up slowly but surely. Over 2 years later I made it finally to top rated seller whatever the hell that means. I thought it really meant something, but it's a joke. Since about start of May, 2014, ebay changed forever. They started advertising outside retailers store's items via opening a free store front, with no items for sale but a bunch of "collections" boxes on the front page with dozens of different seller names, all leading to the same retailer. Ok, fine and dandy, however, ebay took an even bolder step, due to the fees they charge these companies, ebay had to show some kind of return on the investment of those retailers ads, so ebay started advertising their product in already existing ebay seller's account. Even under the actual item for sale. Their ads were bigger than my whole listing of the item. Then they were in the front of the store, they just kind of took over my store like the black plague. Taking the few customers that I had, luring them away with their huge inviting pictures.
It took me a while to catch on what is going on and I demanded to remove those ads from my store. There was not even an announcement, nor did they alert me that they were going to ruin my life and take advantage of me. I tried to talk in the community and they banned me. No, they didn't want others to figure out what I figured out. It took me a while. I started to check my stats and noticed my account was moving very very very slowly and blocked during peek purchase time of the day. In addition, it showed duration of stay in my store: 3-5 seconds. Wow, WTH is going on. I called, wrote emails, called, wrote emails again, complained, tried to get their attention that what they were doing was so underhanded and just plain evil. They got sick of my complaining, so since then I have no traffic at all. Nothing. However, if you look at my front page of the store it says 3, 326 visitors, what? Before all this started happening there was about 600 and some visitors. So, I knew these were not customers, but curiosity people wanting to know, who is this nut lady causing all this trouble.
I did a little research and found out that one of those retailers that paid for advertising on ebay is one of the biggest retailers on the planet, and has many different store names. I wrote a letter to the CEO of that company as well. I'm sure word got back to ebay, and now I was on the !@#$ list for sure. I'm thinking, this huge multi gazzilion dollar company has to take my few customers? For real? Have they no heart? Why? So, I then also found out, one of those stores were not even aware that their ads were being placed in ebay seller's stores. She was a nice lady and apologized. I'm sure ebay got wind of that too, and by now wished I'd just disappear. I told ebay, this store is my last resort to help financially for my family. I've gone through a lot of physical, and emotional hardship dealing with breast cancer, than on top of that, colon cancer. I still went back to work, but I got sicker and fired. Having an Ebay store, I thought would help me make some income.
Actually, things were going fine, and I was moving on up, then all of a sudden it just fell into a black hole never to return. On top of being sick, this made me even sicker and mad, so mad and fought a good battle which I knew I was going to lose anyway, but I was not leaving until I made my point clear. Right now, the store is still there, no sales, no emails, no watchers, I have no idea why they didn't just tell me they're shutting me down? Instead they're torturing me, to convince me that it's something that I'm not doing right as a seller. So, when they do kick me out, they'll have a good excuse.
Then I see Goodwill shouting with joy they're joining ebay to sell their stuff. I was stunned. Goodwill gets free stuff, is non profit, pay no taxes, employees at their stores get less than minimum wage, and ceo and his crew make over $100,000.00, that figure being the lowest. And what happened to their "motto" WE CREATE JOBS. How are they creating jobs, selling on ebay? Unless they're hiring people to run the store online? But I didn't hear anything about that, and the jobs at their stores, will definitely need less employees. You see how much good will they have? So kind and concerned? At this point, I'm giving it another week, because one lady I spoke to promised some kind of answer. Then, I will just forget this nightmare and move on. Unbelievable.

eBay Hong Kong stinks. I had to open an account in Hong Kong because I live there. In the beginning, they had an English beta version that never worked. I could choose whether I wanted to get responded in English so I choose but till the day of today, they send me stuff standard things what I don't understand. Ok that was problem one.
Second, because I sell things that have to shipped by surface that take a while to reach customers in USA and other parts of the world. Got a few disputes for that and negative feedback ok but the items arrived. So got in conversation with eBay Hong Kong that the items are arrived but got negative feedback, can you remove it because the negative feedback were based on item not arrived. The answer is you have to solve with the customer. Ok so get in touch with the customer, customer said "can not change it because eBay not allows me to." Back to eBay HK, "sorry we can not do anything about it, this is between you and the customer."
Then they gave me a hint to specify in my item description that it will take a while to reach the customer. Ok so I did and then what happens! eBay put an estimated arrival time on their website. What totally not the same calculation has as the reality their estimated arrival time is based on air postage. More confusion for the customer more disputes for me and eBay is very quick in refunding to the customer and a few cases just lost the sold item and shipping fee just because of eBay. And when you call them, the only answer I get is you have to contact the customer. I said "eBay is the one who refunded it so then it will be your job to reverse it." They said they can't.
Now they have another policy and that is that I can only put for listing a specified amount or up to ??? Items. Which ever comes first. I have an item and that is one of a kind. That item, it's value is over 20.000 USD but because I put that item before the policy, I can not list anything at the moment so I called them and asked if they were the one who is judging the price. The answer I get from them is "then you don't list that item." I said it is one of a kind and I am proud to list it and I also want to sell it. I pay store fees, listing fees, selling fees. I said "You guys from eBay HK got a job because of people like us are proud to sell their stuff. But the service we get from you in Hong Kong is way below average."
Reimbursement: They are really ** up, they screw up their admin and don't want to admit. I have 3 reimbursement way back in 2012 and they were all paid by Paypal, actually it is not paid by Paypal, it is taken from eBay at Paypal. So I contacted Paypal, they said they had the right. I said the buyer received the item so where does eBay get the right to refund to the customer and get the money from my Paypal account? "Sorry this is a matter between you and eBay. You have to contact ebay."
So I did, they said that I have clicked on it that if there is a reimbursement, they can deduct from my account. Even from my credit card account. I said I never gave eBay the opportunity to do that. They said "yes you did." Ok never mind. Now i want my money back because item arrived just a day after the reimbursement. Same old story, you have to contact the customer. Now in 2014, they gave me restrictions on my account because of the reimbursement. They said after I paid eBay, they will cancel the restrictions. I mailed them many times that the reimbursement is paid, also got proof that it is paid but the only thing they can do is ignore my mails and remind me to pay the reimbursement.
When I started with eBay, my hair was brown black, now my hair is black and most of them grey till white. I am really hoping that eBay Hong Kong get off the net. And those people who worked or now still working won't find a job anywhere. They not worth to do deal with customers. eBay USA, if you read this, don't let your name get disgraced by eBay Hong Kong because I know you guys are willing but the rotten eggs you have to get rid off. If there is a Lawyer who read this and think he can get something out of it, be my guest. Contact me ** I just want 20%.

I ordered an item for which the seller claimed he had to charge sales tax and leads people to believe he carries a large inventory. When I received the item with a gift receipt from Amazon I became suspicious and asked if he had a business license. He said yes so I asked for proof as I know you cannot charge sales tax for a state you don't live in or run a business in. He couldn't prove it, just gave excuses. I reported it to Ebay. I opened up a case, supplying documentation. Without notifying me they closed the case. I appealed it because my item was also defective. They said seller would refund. They sent me a return label stating to return item and I would be refunded with in 3 days. I returned the item but still have not been refunded. When I called I am now being told I will only be refunded if the seller wants to refund and he refuses. He has the item and my $53 also.
Ebay denied my appeal yet never bothered to contact me on it. I found out when I wanted to contact them again for getting no refund. They claim they reply within 24-48 hrs but don't reply at all. They know this seller is committing a crime by charging & pocketing sales tax he collects yet still allow him to remain a seller. Over 6 yrs he has scammed over 7,000 people - that's a lot of money. Now since they refuse to remove him as a seller, his ego has been apparently enlarged as I noticed he has added more states to his illegal Sales tax charging. 21 states now. I have called many of these States who tell me he is NOT authorized to collect sales tax for them, he has no business in their States. The one State he does live in Utah is one State if he had a business license which he does not he would have to charge sales tax for and One State he does not list. Ebay needs to be brought to Justice and so does this seller.

Off. The item was not in any form of working condition (junk) then I filed not as described claim seller. Waited 1 week and offered full refund upon its return. I returned 1 week. He then waited 4 days to issue refund by e-check. e-Bay then w/o my permission closed the claim. Yes, the e-Check bounced 2 times over a week and a half so PayPal cancelled the refund. Now e-Bay won't have to pay buyer protection as they closed the claim and it can't be reopened. Sweet! I see a pattern of allowing fraud to occurs here if not aiding in its Commission .
At the end of the day I'm out $477.00 + $28.00 return shipping, the seller gained $450.00 and is still selling and ready to scam the next person with this defective item. I on the other hand closed both PayPal & E-Bay accounts before they could steal more. This is very similar to a Rolex I bought a while back that claimed it ran perfect yet gained 20 min. Per hour. It took 60 days to get refunded on this site. There must be a book these people are reading on how to work with E-Bay to get free loans of other people's money!

I buy and sell on eBay. I try to be very fair when shipping items (I weigh out multiple purchases and state a price that includes the actual shipping charge, my fees on that charge, and the price of my packaging materials, if any). I recently bought 11 items from the same buyer. One would think that since all of these items could fit into a medium flat rate box from USPS, I would have been charged close to that amount. Instead, I have been charged $23.00. It is ridiculous for eBay sellers to "make money on shipping fees."
I will be interested to see how these items are shipping. If they come in a flat rate box, this seller will receive neutral feedback. A NOTE TO ALL SELLERS: BE FAIR WITH SHIPPING PRICES. Charge what you want to for the item, but don't stick it to the customer on shipping that anyone with half a brain would know is unrealistic. Rest assured, this will be my last purchase from this seller!

I was told by the representative that clearly I provided the shipping information so if the case was escalated by the buyer, it would be refunded or partially refunded by eBay's end. I called to follow up on this case. I was told that the buyer won and all the money and shipping was refunded to the buyer. Not only that, but eBay charged me the fees for both the item and for the shipping cost. There is no protection for sellers on eBay. Even with a tracking information bought right off of eBay's own site. It's a joke. Stay away sellers!!!!

I had a similar issue as another poster here. I had an item listed on Ebay motors. Some "buyer" decided they would hit the "Buy It Now" button on the auction and never pay. After opening a case immediately after the buyer made it clear they weren't going to pay and having Ebay "rule in my favor", I was still charged a "final value fee"! I was never supposed to be charged for the "final value fee" in the first place for obvious reasons! Ebay still charged my account, causing me to go overdraft, and when I brought it to the attention of their mostly rude and near useless "customer support" (which is full of representatives who have heavy non-American sounding accents that simply repeat themselves over and over and never address your issue), they said that I "voluntarily made the payment"!!!
Do they really think that they're going to convince anyone that?? Why in the world would I "voluntarily" pay a disgustingly big, corrupt corporation anything when A) I knew I didn't have the money in the first place, AND, B) I didn't owe them!? After spending hours (yes, hours, I'm not exaggerating) on the phone with their "customer support" explaining my issue to them, it got me nowhere but frustrated of course! Why are they legally allowed to unjustifiably take money from someone without consequences? That is stealing! Someone better step in and do something to these thieves! What better time than now?! Enough is enough! Something needs to give!

I bought 2 camshaft/crankshaft sensors for a Nissan Altima from an eBay store and seller, Transglobal Auto in Saint Paul, MN. They said NEW, OEM and arrived in plain plastic bags. I questioned the seller about these being OEM. They said they were. I installed them and they failed 1000 miles from my house. It cost $387 to get the car towed and fixed, plus the $60 I paid Transglobal for the bad parts. I called and ask for a refund but they offered me another junk part. I filed with eBay but since the parts were installed, they refused "buyer protection". Who buys parts and looks at them?
I then listed the parts for sale on eBay as a warning for others about Transglobal. They had two other bad reviews for the same parts with repairs totaling over $1000. I brought this to eBay's attention, but this seller keeps getting to sell these parts to unsuspecting buyers. Maybe their 12000 sales means more to eBay than 3 of us out over $1400. I had my listing up for about 3 weeks when the seller found it and eBay removed it since they complained about me posting the bad feedback about this seller. Money talks at eBay and those of us who pay for parts thinking they are the real deal, get screwed and the BIG sellers, they get to keep on selling crap parts because eBay is making money every time they sell a part and we buy part.

Called eBay to solve this issue, as during 1 year sales on eBay, I have made them thousands of euros in fees, and never received even one negative feedback. Called eBay, waited 25 min for someone to answer phone, asked what is average waiting time, and was told its up to 10 min. Bear in mind I was waiting 25 min, described my issue. Customer adviser wasn't speaking proper English and I couldn't understood what she saying. I have asked to transfer me to someone who could speak better. She did.
Waited another 30 min. Adviser answered and again couldn't speak proper English. I asked once more to put me with English-speaking person. She suggested me to call back on same number. I refused as I have waited 50 min already. She put me on hold again, and after 60 min of waiting on phone calling from abroad, I was cut off. Called again, waited 10 min. Customer adviser answered phone. Once more explained same issue. He assured that comment is abusive and they will remove the feedback, told me that he will transfer me to someone else to have it removed.
Waited another 15 min, got connected to someone who didn't know nothing about issue. Explained once more, and she told me that i was given wrong information and they can't do nothing about it. Whole conversation took another 20 min. Asked to put me with superior customer service, waited 10min. Told they are busy on the line. I insisted to stay on line to be connected. Waited another 15 min, total call duration 60 min, my call got cut off. I have all call reference numbers, all names and phone conversation recording to prove fact that we as sellers are abused and robbed of our money through fees, and customer support is non-existing. My account was suspended because according to eBay I opened too many cases for items not received. Even though I contacted the sellers thru eBay messages, no responses were received and no items were shipped from sellers. Waited about a week after the expected delivery dates before opening any claims if seller didn't respond, since eBay only gives a 45-day period to open a case. Ebay buying practices policy read as follows: "If your item hasn't arrived or isn't as described, contact the seller by OPENING A CASE in the Resolution Center with 30 days of your actual or latest estimated delivery date."
So, why is my account suspended because of opening a case when eBay encourages buyers to do so? According to eBay, my buyer protection was removed from my account since it was suspended and all opened claims were closed and decided in favor of the sellers that never shipped the items and no refunds were issued. Ebay advertisement is misleading making buyers to believe they are protected when it comes to getting a refund for something they don't receive. I contacted eBay about this matter but they didn't care and no help was offered. They said the decision was final! I hope there will be a class action against eBay for false advertising and own policy violation.

I was a new customer on ebay recently. I received an e-mail message on April 23rd stating "List and sell an item by May 17, 2014, and get a $25 eBay Coupon when it sells". I listed my item on April 23rd and it sold on May 12th. It all appeared to be pretty cut-and-dry and I was excited that I would receive a $25 coupon. I contacted customer service about two weeks later and the rep confirmed that the coupon would be issued. After another two weeks passed and still no coupon, I contacted ebay again only to be given the run-around by them where finally after an hour of being on the phone, a supervisor finally came on and told me that I had to sell the item within 15 days after it listed (mine sold 19 days later). She told me my sale didn't comply with their terms and conditions and that I would not receive the $25 coupon. I told her what the first CS rep had told me (that I would be issued the coupon) but the supervisor said that CS rep was wrong.
I argued that the email message was misleading and that ebay should honor what they send out to people. She would not budge. So, I learned that this is the way ebay treats their new customers. They suck you in by a misleading email offer to get your business and then don't honor the offer in the end. Shame on you e-bay! Better get some business ethics. You lost my business from now on.

We notified the seller and he asked that we send it back, that he would fix it right this time so we did. So we contacted him with no response but soon after we noticed him getting some bad feedback so we contacted him again. He said he was sorry for not getting back to us; his dad had a heart attack. We felt bad for him so waited another week and tried contacting him with no luck so went to open a case and he had closed his account and apparently did the same thing to others and was getting bad feedbacks up to 6 in a row.

But we could not locate any order associated with this payment. We did not know what item the buyer purchased. Then we called eBay to help in locating the order. First all, we were got hung-up. Then we recalled and was told to transfer to "Selling Dept.". But the person who answered the phone with greeting of "Customer Service". Very questionable about whom we really spoke to.
We explained the situation. They found the invoice with same payment as we received, but showing no item purchased by buyer. We told them if buyer did not place order, then how the invoice was generated in your eBay system. The Customer Service, Karen, said "She does not know." She told us to contact Authorize.Net to void the payment. They seemed have no clue about what issue was.
We told them our concern was if there was transaction, and we did not ship. Buyer would be unsatisfied with our service. We asked them if they would be able to contact the buyer to verify the transaction. But they said they could not do any further. We doubted there would be tech. problems of their system because the invoice was generated with no purchase record by buyer. However, the Customer Service insisted there were no such problem. We knew recently their system was just hacked. They should have been more aware of any other problems possibly being associated.
We were really upset about their services. Being a big business, they cannot stay behind their clients and cannot be more careful for any susceptible issue. Just bring this issue up to share with other eBay's sellers. If you have same problem, then good luck to you and be patient. You will spend more than one hour to get no help.

So obviously if you read reviews from sellers here, the main consensus is that buyer's typically always win a claim against a seller. This has happened to me more times than I can count, and it's extremely frustrating. I used to be a seller, but no more. Today, I get a message in my Ebay inbox telling me that a case was decided in a buyer's favor. But this case absolutely angered me, because after the case was opened, I responded with the buyer. I asked the buyer what I could do to make it right, and why the transaction didn't go smoothly for them. After several back and forth conversation, the buyer actually admitted that he had received the item, it was exactly as described, and he just didn't want it.
Ebay claims folks then took an additional 8 days to close the case after I pointed out to them that this email had been sent to me by the buyer admitting he'd made a false claim! And Ebay claim personnel still sided with the buyer!!!! I know that you have to agree to EBay's terms and conditions to join, but with a good lawyer, there are ALWAYS ways around the terms and conditions. I cannot wait for a class action lawsuit, which I will absolutely participate in, to SMASH Ebay. I just wanted to rant, but I COULD NOT believe that after the buyer's obvious admission of a false claim against me, which I immediately brought to the attention of the claim's personnel, he still won the case! It is just plain unbelievable! $175 down the drain, and a perfectly good item.

I've had an account in great standing with eBay for over 4 years now, and an active "Seller" account with eBay for over 2 years. Recent "Seller Performance Standards" implemented by eBay are Arbitrary and Draconian. eBay now requires Sellers to maintain a 99% rating for all transactions in 4 specific areas, one being "item as described" ratings (a 1- to 5-star scale being utilized). I hold a 98.9% positive feedback rating on all transactions (373 total), with 4 of 373 buyers rating me below 3-stars. Based on this, eBay has imposed selling restrictions and limitations, and now holds fund for all sales for 21 days before allowing access to them. eBay's recent "Seller Performance Standards" assume that 99% of all buyers are "honest," and of course this is not the case. eBay makes no exceptions and has no recourse for me as a consumer, to contest or challenge this amendment.
I have invested over $10,000 in merchandise to sell in my eBay store, which provides a large portion of income utilized to provide for my family. eBay's recent adoption/changes to "Seller Performance Standards" are very Arbitrary (illogical) and are almost impossible for myself and I'm sure many other "smaller" eBay Sellers to meet. Implementing standards that require 99% or greater buyer/customer satisfaction is absurd and will cause undue and unnecessary burden on myself as a Seller and provider to my family, as well as directly impact the financial stability and well-being of myself and my family. I'm sure these changes will affect a great many Sellers and the families that they work hard to support.

First class mail international to Italy gonna take a little longer than that. We went back and forth with messages to each other about conduct and being reasonable with ship times etc. That is one of a very small amount of issues that I have had selling on ebay.
Yesterday I get an email that my ebay acct. is restricted indefinitely....I can no longer sell on ebay because some of my ratings are below ebay's standards. I called and spoke to a customer service rep in the so called high department for them to explain what this all means. Another 2 returned items because they did not want them and two more opened cases for item not received, although in both cases the items were shipped during the holiday season via USPS Priority and were received late. I have not received a neutral or negative feedback during any of this time. Yet, eBay has me marked as Below Standard, limiting me to 25 listings per month, based on 5% of 25% of all transactions.
Sellers get heavily penalized by the tiny percent of buyers who decide they don't like something of the small percent who give feedback at all, yet buyers are not required to give feedback or required to wait a sufficient period of time before opening a case for Item Not Received or restricted when they don't pay for items. eBay takes 10% of the final value fees, which are unacceptable if one's profit margins are less than 25% on an item. If every seller on eBay was as conscientious, reliable and transparent as I am, eBay would dominate Amazon. But as long as eBay treats sellers like aberrant children, the site will continue to lose the middle tier of sellers until it only appeals to bottom feeders and collectors.

We constantly have buyers filing claims and eBay always gives them refunds. These buyers wait a month or two, decide they don't want the item, or shouldn't have spent the money, then they'll say the item is not as described and eBay refunds the money. This is a huge scam and buyers know that ebay will always be in their favor. We've recently been kicked off eBay and over 200 items we had listed, was taken off! This is our main source of income. In the past 12 months, we only had 2 negative comments and one is not even legitimate because eBay found the dispute in our favor. We were told that we're not keeping up with eBay standards. It doesn't make sense, we constantly complain to eBay and tell them about the scams people are pulling, but they say there's nothing we can do about it. They need to be stopped.
We just had a guy send an item back that he purchased over a month and a half ago, eBay just took $129 out of my bank account and refunded him... causing me an overdraft! We sold an auto diagnostic device, the buyer used it then sent it back saying it was used and he got his refund. That unit was brand new when we sent it to him, unopened. Ebay's cost us a lot of money!

I was selling coupons on eBay. A buyer bought one and left feedback that said I was running a scam which it is not. They are legitimate coupons that are described as a coupon in the title and in the description clearly in large print. I have called and emailed ebay numerous times to get the feedback removed and they are telling me it's non removable because it's not on their list of derogatory words. I have asked to talk to supervisors and they are never available so basically they are ignoring me. I waited over 45 minutes to get nowhere on the last call.

I was recently looking to purchase several lots of DMC floss. I contacted a seller thru EBAY and asked that if the items didn't sell within the few hours remaining for bids, if the seller would combine the packages shown online so I would get a larger color selection with less duplicates. I did get a response from the seller advising that if they didn't sell, that this could be done. Once the auction ended, I got an email asking how I would the packages combined and how many of the packages I would like. I responded promptly and waited several days for a response from the seller. I sent the seller another email after there was no response for a few days and asked if my previous email was received and was told yes it had been, but that the item would not be available - the seller was moving. What would moving have to do with selling an item? Didn't the seller realize that they were moving when they responded to my email? Again, I ask, what does moving have to do with selling an item?
I called EBAY Customer Service and while that were able to verify the email chain verifying what communication we had, they said that they could do an investigation and I would probably not get a response, but it would possibly be looked into. Why possibly be looked into, it SHOULD be looked into as this seller is using EBAY!! How do I know if EBAY can or would look into this matter? I FEEL THAT I WAS CHEATED BY THE SELLER AND EBAY for false representation in the willingness to sell something that I was told could and would be done. Furthermore, if I would have known that this would have been the outcome by the seller, I would have bid on numerous other packages that were being auctioned. I think what really happened is that the seller probably realized that the amount that the product was listed was too low and they would try to re-list the item, but if that were the case, why were there NO BIDS on any of the listings. Shame on EBAY and the seller of these items. If I could post the name of the seller, I would, but I know that this website would blank out the name.

I can sympathize totally with you predicament. As far as eBay rules and policy are concerned, there really isn't any hard fast rules or policy. You can absolutely throw out logic, common sense and justice when dealing with the eBay. Since they own the selling platform, they can do whatever they like to do on any particular day. I found this out when I was banned from selling in entertainment memorabilia because of jerseys which eBay deemed to be counterfeit (of course they were purchased in a reputable sporting good store and had all original licensing and tags as well as purchase receipts. I even gave them one of the jerseys to examine. All irrelevant when dealing with eBay).
Most of the first-line reps are non-American born with very little empathy and have basically pre-programmed responses. Arguing with them simply gets you nowhere. Occasionally you'll get someone who was actually born in this country and can sympathize with your situation although there is very little they can do to resolve your situation. I have also found that inconsistency is the standard when dealing with many departments in eBay. I can only formulate that they have become so large that most of the executives involved in founding eBay have simply lost touch with the little people like you and I.
Basically when you're calling eBay, you're dealing with a human automated response system. You might as well be talking to a computer. Even after many appeals sent on my behalf by eBay reps, I am still unable to sell in that category. I still contact up in time to time to see if they will change the decision. It has still been an irrevocable NO. However on my last conversation with them I did speak with a representative who was actually somewhat helpful & once again I am hopeful that this appeal will work. Try asking to be transferred to Erick in the restrictions department. He was the best rep I've spoken to this far. Good luck.

I have been selling on ebay for the past 12 years. I have over 2,000 feedback in prior years - I was 100% most of the time. This year has been tough: one negative for a lady that demanded free shipping after she paid and 3 neg from guy who bought my child's comics and said they were too worn, not as described as I provided photos, detailed description and told the buyer they were read by children so expect wear and tear -still left me 3 neg...Then ebay decides they are imposing this 5 star seller rating garbage and because 5 people in one year left less than 5 stars in my item description box area, they put me on probation and now they are holding my funds in paypal.
I have never had ebay have to pay out of pocket for anything I ever sold. I have always refunded unhappy customers, and I have good feedback from all other transactions. I feel that the probationary privilege to sell on ebay is demeaning and offensive. Holding my funds ties my hands to successfully run a business and limits my freedom to refund my customers on overpaid shipping or if I want to purchase anything for myself, and because my bank account is linked to pay pal, guess what, the shipping came out of my personal banking. NOT HAPPY.
I don't like having to earn points for good seller ratings and being reevaluated every month. Then they raised the auction price to 30 cents and said that I needed to get a store for 15.95 a month knowing damn well that I don't sell 250.00 a month in ebay sales so that would put me at the below seller standards also and allow them to limit my store from 150 listings for 15.95 to 80 listings. Gee let's do the math - by imposing unfair and unjust policy probation crap they are making more money per listing and come to find out ebay charges me .9% on shipping so I have to mark up the shipping enough to cover the .9% they are charging me to ship the customers item. Hmmmm pay pal gets their share, then ebay gets their fees - listing fee final fee and 9% shipping and what am left with -not a freaking thing - a bad time !!! A bunch of aggravation!!! So ebay can kiss my ass. I will never sell another thing on their site again ......I CAN SELL ON FACEBOOK, YARD SALE, LOCALLY FOR FREE AND NOT HAVE TO PAY FEES OR BE ON PROBATION!!

eBay and their customer support continues to treat sellers like criminals. The system is open for exploitation and abuse by both buyers and malicious sellers/competitors that want to sabotage your business. The biggest scam on eBay is "item not received" - The buyer contacts you asking for a tracking number when they know for a fact the item was sent by standard mail. They then open a case and without fail due to lack of evidence you buy one you get one free or you buy one you get it free.
Customer Support says - You should send all items recorded, without a tracking number there is nothing we can do. They fail to understand the highly increased delivery costs Royal Mail charges to send such low price items recorded delivery, sometimes its more than the item value. Royal Mail never pays any compensation so sellers are always left out of pocket.
If an item is sent recorded without the fraudulent buyers knowledge, they usually damage the item or claim it wasn't as described to obtain a full refund. It's a win win for the buyer. I had one case where I sent an item recorded delivery and the buyer opened a case claiming they did not receive the item. Royal Mail attempted delivery on three occasions and they refused to sign for it. eBay issued a full refund and surprise, surprise, the buyer collects the item from the post office and they have yet another freebie.
Yet another customer recently claimed the item wasn't as described. I asked them to send it back for a refund. They never sent it back and claimed they threw the proof of postage in the bin. eBay issues a refund, case closed in the buyer's favor. Any appeal is denied and you guessed it another freebie. In the meantime, I have a malicious competitor on eBay purchasing items and leaving negative feedbacks, low detailed seller ratings, opening cases. My listings have been penalized through no fault of my own. My sales have dropped to zero.
Thank you eBay for helping your loyal sellers who pay hundreds in fees every month. I hope the Mr. John Donahoe who still fails to respond to several of my emails is sued for every last penny he has. Maybe he will know how it feels to actually work to make some money and not just sit on his millionaire's yacht sipping crystal whilst sellers bend over backwards to keep their detailed seller ratings high. If you have encountered similar issues please sign your name and details and we can work together as sellers to get the message through to eBay that we have had enough.

I submitted all the required ID proofs and address proofs to complete my registration on May 18, after which I moved ahead and listed a few items and started generating sales within a few days. But now all of a sudden eBay has suspended my account permanently for reasons unknown to me. When I tried appealing against the decision, all I've got is a reply from their Trust and Safety Team that they can't reveal the reason for the suspension due to eBay policies.
This is just plain ridiculous. Why does eBay even provide an option to appeal if they are not going to offer any information regarding the suspension? It seems eBay India only wants sellers who overprice products and pathetic services. All the products I was offering were priced significantly lower than all the current listing on eBay and yet I'm the one who gets banned. That's not all, the sellers currently selling these items have received several negative feedbacks. If you don't believe me, go and check out the complaints on their forum - community.ebay.in. Instead of taking action against all these sellers, eBay is more interested in suspending accounts. No wonder they have fallen behind in the Indian eCommerce market.
Just wanted to give a heads up to all those interested in opening a seller account on eBay, stay away. Instead go and sell your products on Amazon, Snapdeal, Shopclues who are way more professional and will do their best to help you. If you rely on eBay, you're doomed. You won't know when they'll suspend your account and you'll be left off with nothing. However, if you have an inferior product and you are willing to put a ridiculous price tag on it, eBay India will welcome you with open arms. Stay away from eBay India at any cost if you don't wish to burn your hands.

I have been purchasing golf balls on eBay for years and didn't have any problems until April 2014. I purchased ten dozen golf balls. When the balls arrived it was obvious they were fake. I tried negotiating with the seller. My position was that I would send the golf balls to Acushnet Brand Protection to be authenticated. (Acushnet owns Titleist.) He refused and always responded with emails which questioned my knowledge of golf equipment. I escalated the case to eBay for a decision. They initially found in the seller's favor because I had cut one of the balls open to prove that it was a fake. I bought 120 golf balls, and was willing to replace the cut ball with a real ProV1. I sent the balls to Acushnet. They verified that the balls were fake.
I then appealed the decision and was granted a full refund, but I am still not happy with eBay's practices. First, between the time that I escalated the case to eBay and the time they found in the seller's favor, THREE other customers of this seller had filed negative feedback based on the fact that the balls they purchased from him were fake. I asked eBay about this. They told me that they could only look at my particular case when rendering a decision. That is not logical; they should use all the facts at hand, including the fact that I had purchased thousands of golf balls previously with no complaints.
Second, as soon as eBay reversed their ruling and found in my favor, they removed my negative feedback. (I did not file feedback until after Acushnet verified that all the balls I purchased were fake.) My feedback was truthful, accurate, and did not contain any offensive comments or profanity of any kind. This is illogical too. After all, feedback is intended to protect buyers and sellers. Why remove feedback that is based on established fact? What eBay did is ensure that the seller gets to continue selling fake golf balls. BTW, another buyer called the same seller a "scam artist" in his feedback. My feedback contained no such name-calling, only cold, hard facts. At any rate, the seller is still selling on eBay. I did my best to protect other buyers from falling victim to this seller. I would think eBay would follow suit.

The emails in question stated that I cancelled items which were bid on, totally false. I have all of the items in question. I have been calling these people trying to reason with them and getting nowhere. They are like robots reading from a script. Now they are telling me I had too many returns in a 3 month period (7 out of 36 items purchased). I explained to them that is because the items were misrepresented and that I was not aware of a law against returns if the seller has a policy?
None of this is making sense and I just read through every ounce of their so called policies and not one states any limit on returns, especially when the buyer is at fault. I really need to have my account reinstated but they are treating me like a criminal and not budging. This was my livelihood and it is not fair! If returns are the problem, then they should still allow me to sell especially because I have never been asked for a return, never had a case or a complaint against me. eBay's 2014 Seller Update is completely unethical, and in some circumstances, unlawful. In their very efficient inept attempt to create a "good buyer experience" and keep "buyers coming back to eBay" they have created an extremely hostile environment between buyers and sellers, and also between sellers and eBay. eBay's past requirements of good sellers are being completely undermined by this new policy. Sellers have worked hard to meet and exceed eBay's requirements in the past, only to be smacked in the face and punished for doing just that. With this new policy eBay is giving false written instructions to buyers to ensure a damaging defect result to the seller. eBay is holding the seller accountable for their products after it has left their possession, i.e., if product is damaged or lost during shipping. The seller gets a defect if buyer complains through eBay. And there is much more......
eBay needs to be held accountable for their deceiving, unfair and destructive business practices toward the very people they so willingly collect very high fees from. The people who keep their site alive. eBay HAS NOTHING TO SELL. They are just a venue where people can show the items THAT THE SELLER OWNS, NOT EBAY and try to make a little profit. eBay has also turned into a venue that puts emphasis on selling cheap and fake items from China and Hong Kong. It is very apparent when I have to flip through 50-100 pages of that crap before finding something worth buying from the USA. eBay needs to realize their position. EBAY DOES NOT OWN OUR BUSINESS OR OUR ITEMS AS JOHN DONAHOE LIKES TO IMAGINE. Sorry, John. Get a grip before you completely ruin what buyers have always loved about eBay.

Buyer the seller emailed first about the price of the laptop then the condition of the laptop despite the large amount of pictures documenting the condition of the laptop. Buyer then proceeded admitted to attempting to flash the BIOS of the laptop which software not designed for the laptop which puts the motherboard at risk of permanent damage. He then proceeded to claim he had problems with the BIOS after this attempt.
Buyer then proceeded to extort me for 50 dollars off a 320 dollar transaction (15%). I offered 30 dollars to simply avoid the long process and attempt to keep him happy despite the buyer's remorse which Buyer declined. These contacts where all documented through eBay's messaging system. Buyer claimed the product was not an ASUS product and I uploaded proof from the ASUS website where the laptop is registered. Buyer claimed the Windows was not genuine and I uploaded the email of the receipt of my purchase of Windows. Buyer made various claims which I proved were false.
eBay decided in his favor despite the messages. He sent back the laptop when I was out of town and now he has the laptop and the refunded money. On top of this, eBay charged seller's fee for this non-transaction and refuses to get involved so that the buyer has to send the laptop. I list nice things. I have 100% positive feedback. I've sold and bought. When I get something that is advertised and looks the same but somehow otherwise don't like it I relist it... I don't try to get a refund. My experience as a seller is that even though items are as described, they get it and change their minds... want a refund. Which I give them. I sold a book for $3 that sold on Amazon for over $14. It took over $4 to ship it. The buyer had the wrong address on eBay so it went to his old address. He said I should have verified his address before sending it. And I sent it before payment. It wasn't much money....
Well he said he wouldn't pay till it got to him. EBay talked him into paying... I seem to get hassled all the time. And I truly represent what I sell as honestly as possible. A lot of buyers are nice... I have good fb but I run into so many that want something for nothing. That's why I went to Etsy and tried to sell there... wanting an honest return on my listing. But they ask for SSN and BOTH credit card and bank... They could steal my identity! I'm honest but not everybody is. I just wish there were more good buyers on eBay.
I have 10 items listed and only one bid. Maybe I am listing wrong. I asked Etsy to close my account. If my stuff doesn't sell on eBay, I'll donate it. I paid high for my stuff... I'm really losing money on eBay though... big time. Are there any other sites out there where people will buy and just an honest online community that doesn't want your SSN to start up? If no answers, I'll go back to eBay ...if no bids I'll donate and stop selling any place.

I have been an Ebay user since 2005 and recently I lost $630 through it. I purchased 2 items from the same Seller in February 2014 and have not received them until now which is May 2014. The type of scam I felt victim of was new to me at that time, obviously. The seller at the time of the transaction had only excellent feedback from approximately 70 ebayers. The items were highly specialized pieces of technical equipment, not something commonly used and desirable, so chances of meeting a scam artist are usually much lower, but not impossible.
I have not liked the Seller from the get go. He was uncooperative and stubborn. I purchased 2 items from him and asked to combine them in the same box to reduce shipping costs. This is normal practice on Ebay, yet he refused. I felt it was very unprofessional, so I delayed payment until we figure out discrepancy on shipping. He immediately filed a complaint with Ebay. I was also able to explain my position to Ebay Rep by phone. I explained that Seller does not agree to any common Ebay practice and would not allow either combined shipping or a pick up from his location which was suspicious.
Ebay was very formal, did not listen to my reasons and took Seller's side, threatening to suspend my account for non payment. I had no choice, but to pay which I did. Seller immediately provided a longer delivery date (about 2 weeks if I remember correctly) which is quite long for a domestic US delivery. Yet to my surprise, when 1 week later I checked the transactions online, the delivery date was postponed further into the future. 1 week later it was postponed yet again and so on and so forth.
When I realized something funny is going on it was too late. My call to Ebay met no sympathy. They said I waited too long and they have 30 days complaint policy. Paypal had a longer 45 days policy, but it was also over their limit by the time of my call. They (Ebay and Paypal) got out on technicality, but that technicality was created by the fraudulent Seller. The funny part is that the mentioned technicality is not in their favor. Ebay Rep confirmed to me that they count those 30 and 45 days from the delivery date, and since that date was moved few times and not passed even when I write this comment, they should be liable even by their own standards. But good luck in proving that to Ebay.
Ebay understood very well the Seller was fraudulent and has suspended the Seller for the fraud, yet they refused to compensate me, the victim. I think Ebay totally took advantage of me, understanding that I will not go to court. The amount is too small and I am too small against them, too... My advice to whoever reads this post is to be very cautious and not deal with Ebay Seller or Buyer when your gut feeling tells you so. Also, when buying through Ebay:
- don't consider that Seller's positive feedback will stop him from running with your money- read Ebay's fine print on their policies
- report all problems to Ebay customer support early
- AND MOST IMPORTANT: Do not trade in excess of the amount you are comfortable to lose completely. DO NOT HOPE THAT EBAY WILL PROTECT YOU AND COVER YOU FOR LOSSES! Remember that Ebay will find any technicality on which they can get out of any responsibilities even if their actions are barely legal according to their own policies.

I don't know how eBay was back in the days since I only started using them about 3 years ago. I was first a buyer of several items and then I started selling items from my home that I wanted to get a bit of money back from. I only sold a few items and then it turned into over 300+ items sold. Although it may not seem that much as a seller, I can tell you that I was miserable beyond belief the entire time. Every day was "Did this item deliver?" or "What if I get negative feedback?"
Occasionally, I had buyers who purchased my WORKING electronics, claiming they don't work and asking for a refund. They ship items back to me that ARE working but in some sort of horrible condition. Might I also mention that eBay's fees are outrageous and impossible for a small seller to profit. If you're the type to have an online store and sell mass amount of cheap items for literally 5 cents from China, then you obviously won't have any problems. I know there will be people out there who say "There's always a way to profit" or "Don't sell on eBay then", but after fees, I get so little money back from the items I sell. EBay even tells you to lie to your customers about free shipping by just simply adding that cost and making your item cost a bit more.
Even with that deceptive solution, items I sell, I get HALF of what I'm supposed to. Charging fee on shipping was outrageous enough. The fees itself, about 10%, I thought was REASONABLE at first until I realized I pay for shipping AND I didn't even know PayPal also charges fees until recently. These were not the only things I had to pay for. I had to pay for the bulk supplies like printer ink, label stickers, bubble mailers, plastic mailers, cardboard boxes, etc.
Not to mention how disgusting it feels going onto your PayPal account and feeling good about the money you made, just to have eBay grab almost a third of it from you due to fees. Do you know how horrible that feels?! Also to the fact that even with a NO RETURN policy, buyers can still make any excuse to return items to you and they can even open a case against you and keep the item AND the refunded money. Of course, when this happens, you can call eBay for help and they would tell you, I kid you not: "That's the cost of doing business on eBay." So that's the kind of stuff they tell sellers... the ones who MADE eBay what it is now and PAY eBay fees monthly. Yet I don't see them telling buyers "It's the cost of buying from eBay", even though buyers are only the middle man for all the money made by eBay. Buyers get no fees on anything, at least from my knowledge.
If sellers stopped listing, there would be no buyers. Why doesn't eBay understand this? To make matters worse for me personally, a buyer purchased a somewhat expensive item from me. I prepared to ship it out two days later and out of nowhere, without saying a word, the buyer filed for a refund on Paypal. Being that I didn't even drop the item off yet, I kept the item and refunded the buyer. When I messaged him to cancel the transaction, he never replied. After days of not replying, I wanted to just move on so I requested a transaction cancellation and this guy seriously rejects it instantly. I lost a ton of FVF for NO REASON.
When I filed this to eBay, I got no reply until about a month later... I told them the situation and they basically dodged my question about getting my fees back because it's obviously been over a month so it's too late. This same buyer did this to three other sellers who he purchased from at the same time as me. I messaged each of them and they told me the buyer also did the same thing to them. After all of us reporting this buyer, this buyer is STILL allowed to keep the account.
eBay acts like they do you a favor constantly if you're a seller. I can't tell you how much I want this website to finally wake up and improve. The only thing it has that is beneficial is the high traffic. I can't wait to finally finish selling all my misc. items from my home and NEVER have to do business with eBay ever again as a seller!

It seems eBay doesn't have the resources to help mediate disputes that arise when a buyer has to shell out additional out of pocket expense on shipping. I had to pay another $4.15 at the post office (on top of the $6.95 already paid on the item). It was a second hand mobile phone. It works fine. But the advertised S&H was $6.95. The total I ended up paying was $11.10. Clearly if I had known this was going to be the case up from on the auction, I wouldn't have bid on this seller's phone.
Anyhow, I filed an eBay case AND a Paypal case and just now the cases were closed because the item was indeed delivered. I'm thinking I should've just had the package returned to sender but it was a phone and I needed a replacement. Seriously, how many of you out there are having issues with understated shipping charges? The seller I contacted refused to reimburse the extra freight. eBay even overturned the negative feedback I left him. WTF?

I've been selling on eBay since 2009 and have, over time, developed a rather loyal customer base. I don't believe in ripping off buyers since I know how hard it is to earn money these days, and my feedback has reflected that. I also ask my buyers to contact me with any problems whatsoever. For a few months, I was a Top Rated Seller. Okay. Cool. I didn't really see the perks in it. Then during my evaluation in April, I was suddenly EXTREMELY below standard. I called up eBay customer support and was told, rather rudely, that it isn't the buyer's responsibility to tell me if there is a problem. So apparently now I'm psychic? I told them that I've always kept in close contact with my buyers, because I want them to actually come away from the experience feeling good about it, and the rep told me that maybe that was my problem and that I should communicate with buyers less.
I wake up this morning to find that my account has been restricted to selling 25 items a month. Once again I call eBay and I'm bounced from one rep to the other until the last one simply hung up on me. I don't understand how this company can get away with these things. While I agree with evaluations, I believe that what they are doing is incredibly underhanded and dirty. If you call to complain about your experience with customer service, you're treated like you've just set a group of kittens on fire. I don't believe that this company will ever pay for how they treat people, buyers or sellers alike. We can't all just boycott eBay until something else comes along. I do have hope, however, that this horrible behavior comes back to bite them.

I have been selling on eBay for 5 years and I have never in these 5 years hit below standard. I have always put the customer first most times costing me money. I got pregnant this last year and due to complications with the pregnancy and then complications with having my son, I had to put longer handling times on my auctions. My family relies on my eBay income. It is the only income we have and so even while pregnant, I still had to continue to sell and while it was hard and I was not as fast with shipping ETC as I normally would be, I thought everything was going pretty smoothly considering my situation.
I put 5 business handling periods on my auctions. Most times the items would ship though within 2-3 days. Well according to eBay, 25 out of 850 buyers left me less than 5 star ratings for shipping time even though every item was shipped within the 5 days. The buyers did not pay attention to the shipping or the circumstances which I stated in each auction for the extended handling times and left me less than 5 star ratings. I have never gone below standard so I never really paid much attention to my seller dashboard, my mistake, because I did not know eBay could or would do what they did to me until my account was put on restriction and all my payments were put on hold until 3 days after the item was delivered.
I have another account so I decide to sell between the 2 accounts in hopes of having some of my funds released right away as I have a family to support so I cannot have all my money on hold for over a week. If you calculate the time the item is listed for, the 1-2 day handling period and then the 2-3 days shipping time and then an additional 3 days at least before they release the funds, that is a long time to wait for your money. However I sold over 50 high price items on that account and waited for payment for each of them. All transactions went smoothly - no issues at all that whole month.
On the other account, I was selling under same thing - no issues at all the whole month. Everything was being shipped within 1-2 business days on both accounts. Well the 20th of the month comes and they do their review. Because I did not sell as much as I normally would under my main account, it screwed me and even though I received over 50 positive feedback it did not put a dent in the percentage that needed to go down in the shipping time category for my account to be out of below standard. Well, I continue to list anyhow and continue to deal with the hold of PayPal funds.
Now yesterday out of the blue I receive a message saying all of my accounts are suspended with no reinstatement date. All of my auctions are ended on one and the other my auctions were left up but I cannot list anything anymore on eBay. I called eBay and explained my situation and what led to this place and the fact that I have been a awesome seller for over 5 years. They do not care. They told me they do not want to do business with me because 25 out of 850 people left less than 5 star ratings for shipping time, which I am not even sure is true because if you look at my DSRs, it appears shipping time has the most amount of satisfied people. All other areas for DSRs are top-rated or above standard. Just the shipping time is below standard or at least this is what they are telling me.
I do not think though they are being honest with me. I think they do not want me selling my designer products on eBay and instead of just telling me that, they are making up a reason to boot me because when I talked to an eBay rep, he pretty much told me he will not remove the suspension on my second account unless I was selling something else besides my designer items on it. EBay really is a buyer's market. They do not care about you as a seller unless you are Target, Walmart, ETC and making them millions of dollars.
I was viewing another account today where the person was selling Family Dollar curtains. They have less feedback than me so they sell way less than me and they have over 50 negative feedbacks in the last 12 months and over 30 neutral in the last 12 months and yet they are still selling. I was appalled at that. How is that person selling still with a good percentage of their customers unhappy? I really wish someone would come along with a site similar to eBay but have not only the buyers' needs in mind but also the sellers. The amount of non-payers I get is unreal. The amount of sellers who do not even ship the items they sold is unreal yet those same sellers are still selling on eBay and those same buyers still buying on eBay. I think you need to ship the items that day they sell or the very next and accept all returns. Otherwise eBay is going to boot you without warning and with a fake made up excuse.

I recently went on eBay to sell some books. I had listed them at a reasonable price and put a fixed price on shipping ($3.00). I also said that I would accept PayPal but not with a credit card because of the 3% fee that would be charged. I was informed that there would be no listing price, but at the end of the sale, I was charged not only a listing fee ($.30), there was an end of sale fee ($.30), a fee on how much I charged for shipping (.40) and $.50 taken by PayPal for handling the transaction. I might as well have said I was giving away everything for free because at the end of the day that was what I ended up doing. I understand that both businesses have a right to charge for their services, but really, $.40 on my shipping costs and $.50 to process a $6.00 check??!!

I just recently bought an item from a seller on eBay back in March 29th, 2014. It appeared that they sent my item from California to where I live. It sounded fine but a little over a week of me checking the status with USPS, I found that my package was sent to the wrong address and was then returned to the seller. Meanwhile I found out that the seller's account was suspended from eBay over another issue (I assume). I decided to file a dispute a few days ago with Paypal figuring there might be a problem. The whole time this party was saying how they were being cooperative with me, and they didn't understand why I filed a dispute. They kept saying to me they re-sent my package with the same tracking number with USPS. I told them that I was going to phone USPS to find out what is happening with my package. Their reply was not to waste my time on talking to them, as they would not do anything.
I did phone USPS about what happened, and they seemed really interested in this and pointed out to me that if they did send the package back to me it would have a different tracking number. After that I escalated my claim with them involving Paypal. The seller also tried deceiving Paypal by giving them the original tracking number. This case is now pending upon investigation. I really believe this is a form of mail fraud. The seller may have purposely sent my package to the wrong address, and then it was sent back to them further claiming they resent it.

My account has been suspended due to an unpaid invoice, which is true, but only because Ebay's method of communication failed. I made a payment of seller fees and had not logged in to my account since first paying the fees expecting all to have been taken care of. Thanks to the Target information leak, my debit card was reissued causing a payment processing error with Ebay, unbeknownst to me. Since making my original payment, or so I thought, I had not logged in to my Ebay account and therefore, had NO clue Ebay was messaging me about the issue.
At some point, Ebay should begin sending direct communication to people's personal email accounts associated with their Ebay account to ensure their message are being received... we don't all spend every day on Ebay. I had no reason to expect anything had gone wrong with my account since their weak attempts to contact me were CLEARLY NOT WORKING!!! I even have the Ebay app that should send push notifications that I have messages but NO!!! Not until I get a collection notice in the mail do I have any idea what is going on!!
When calling the customer contact line and being disconnected TWICE, I was told I had to talk to the account specialist who, of course, work the exact hours I do... how convenient! On top of all this, the item sold this invoice is regarding was a loss for me with regard to shipping due to the awful shipping estimation tool! They might as well tell people the shipping estimation tool is way off and advise customers do the calculating on their own. I even called to complain about the poor estimation, which I am sure there would be some record of my phone call in to the customer service number, which, would have also been a great time to tell me I had an unpaid invoice!
Between the fees and the missed shipping I am out an additional almost $100! I paid the invoice because I am an honest individual who clearly made an attempt to pay the fees with no knowledge of any issues processing the payment (thank you Target) due to lack of effective communication on the part of Ebay.

eBay are simply not there when there are problems after a sale has been made. The fact that a few weeks after a transaction is completed you can no longer even call up the item number on ebay is sufficient proof. I blogged my story of one such transaction at **. I thought this was great and returned the item swiftly. The seller then started contacting em saying that I had damaged the product not him and he would no longer be issuing a refund. SO he had the product back in his possession that I had paid for and now was refusing to issue a refund. I was also out $25 additional dollars for the return shipping.
I tried to reason with the seller and he would not refund my money saying I was being fraudulent and had caused damage to the item, not. He sent me a broken item in the first place. I asked ebay to get involved and they looked at the situation and ruled that the seller in fact had to issue a refund as part of their "Money Back Guarantee". The seller go all upset and started messaging me saying I was a crook and that I was taking food out of his family's mouth and that he couldn't believe how I live with myself. I called ebay and asked them to block the seller from contacting me and explained the situation. The customer service rep who I spoke with said, "fine I'll have them blocked but I don't really see how you think he is harassing you." What an in appropriate and insensitive response. Had she just said, "ok I'll block them," that would have been a good response in my opinion. But to point out that fact that she didn't think I was valid in thinking I was being harassed is ridiculous and something she should not have said. I am writing to make a complaint about a seller on eBay, **. In April last year, I purchased two onesies from the seller. Kigurumi Pajamas All In One Pyjamas Animal Suits Cosplay... (**) Member id **, sale date: 28/04/13. One was an owl (size L) for me and the other Winnie the Pooh (size M) for my daughter's birthday in June. I am 175 cm tall and my daughter is 165 cm tall. According to the seller's description, size M is for height 160 to 169 cm and L is 170 to 179 cm. When the items were received, mine was way too long in the arms and legs but I figured I can just roll up the sleeves. My daughter's did not even come to her ankles and was too short in the crotch.
After my daughter tried hers on, I contacted the seller and said that even though it was labelled M, it must have been labelled in error as it was way too small. I was asked to return it, which I did. It cost me $27 to return and I assumed that this would be refunded by the seller as the label on the inside was a mistake on their part. I made regular email correspondence during this time. After sending several follow up emails regarding the item, I finally received notification from the post office that I had a parcel to collect. At the post office, the attendant made a comment that it looked like the package had not been opened as it was labeled return to sender.
When I opened the package, it was just as I had packed it for postage, with a description of the problems with its size. On again contacting the seller for an explanation, they said that they would send another straight away. On 12th October last year, ** told me that they had sent it in August. Then the next day they told me they would send another one tomorrow. On 28th November, they gave me a tracking number that was invalid. On 27th January, they gave me another tracking number and it was also invalid. On 16th February, the manager said she would send a new one. Then on 30th March, they tell me that they never got my parcel.
I have the package here with the address that they gave me on it. It has the return stamp on it. I have had no success corresponding with the seller. I have been more than patient with them as this has been going on for almost a year. All I ask them is to send me the item I paid for - a size M Winnie the Pooh onesie to fit someone 160-169 cm. The one they sent does not fit a person who is 165 cm. It is too small and they need to send me one the right size please. I have asked for the manager's name but I don't get any replies any more. I have attached photographs of the items showing the comparison in size, the package that was returned showing the address and postage marks and I also have the details of the tracking numbers I was given.

This supposed battery issue is something that could immediately be detected and remedied within one day of delivery. After 30 days, seems a little excessive to expect a refund. Not sure why the buyer waited 31 days to report this issue especially when he wrote in his first message "Upon receipt of the battery, I charged it. Used the camera and the battery went low on charge. I charged it a second time and it still did not hold a charge." Since he left negative feedback after requesting a refund and opening a PayPal case, this is clearly extortion and should not be tolerated since I followed all of eBay's Policies. Called many times to resolve the problem. No answer, no help. Finally one of the employees was nice and she told me I was banned from eBay because of my husband. Even though we had been separated for about 4 years, she told me it does not matter. 4 years ago, he used my computer or my IP address to log in to his account. I'm a single mother doing my best to earn money for my little one, but because of him, they banned me. eBay trust and safety department employees are so IGNORANT that instead of making sure who sells what or how, which seller is honest which is not, they just close accounts. Now like MANY other honest sellers, I also cannot sell on eBay, but people like him do still sell using friends' names and new accounts. How IGNORANT of eBay. I guess they deserve it. I agreed to refund the buyer $10 for the problem and he agreed. eBay then refunded the buyer TWICE on the same day thru Paypal. When I called Paypal to resolve the issue they spent 15 minutes looking at the problem and passed me on to eBay Resolution who spent 15 minutes looking at the problem and passed me on to someone else from eBay (who spent another 20 minutes looking at the problem) and then passed me back to Paypal who spent another 25 minutes looking at the problem (most of the time I am on hold during all of these visits).
At the end of the last stop with Paypal the agent came back on the line and told me that he had "no reverse button on payments" and my only recourse was to send a Paypal invoice to the buyer and hope that he paid me the $10. eBay has absolutely no problem deducting their fees IMMEDIATELY after the auction is completed (also taking a 10% "final value fee on shipping"...... which I believe they have no right to but that is a separate issue) but when you try to get them to fix a problem they run you around and around figuring that you will just give up.
The good news is that since eBay couldn't spend the time or effort to fix my problems I will have no problem bypassing eBay and Paypal whenever I am given the opportunity to do so. After a sale is over I will have the buyer's email address and I will offer any additional items offline and completely lock eBay and Paypal out of the transaction. If they can't bother to offer a measly $10 refund back to me when THEY make a mistake I have no problem selling items directly to buyers and taking money out of eBay and Paypal's pocket.

Customer confirmed the bag's condition in a message she sent me the day after she received it saying, "The bag is perfect! Thanks so much for such a smooth transaction", also leaving great feedback. Buyer then purchases 5 more items within 2 days. A month passes and buyer messages asking to return one of the items she bought. I said sure and issued refund upon receiving item back. Within that week, she returns everything she purchased from me minus the bag.
2 months to the day, buyer messages me and wants to return the bag. I say okay and she sends it back. I received the bag just a couple days later and upon inspection I noticed the bag was broken. I emailed buyer and told her the refund would only be a partial due to the bag being damaged while she had it. Buyer AGREED and I requested to cancel the transaction through eBay and THE BUYER ACCEPTED. Money was refunded through PayPal and that was that, so I thought.
The next day I seen I had a return on my selling manager page. Clicked it and OMG she opened a case, SNAD, and said it was broken when she received it. Well eBay set the refund date for April 1st. March 28th I called eBay to fill them in on what happened. Sitting in front of my laptop with my email open, I go on to tell the CSR my story AND BAM I just received an email saying I just issued the buyer a FULL REFUND. I stopped mid-sentence and ask the CSR, who had already acknowledged he piggy backed my account, why he sent that refund. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT!!
I insisted to speak to his sup. at once! I talked to his sup for over an hour and was promised this would be dealt with and she would call me the following day. NO PHONE CALL! So I call back wanting answers and eBay tells me this word for word: "Since the buyer opened the case as SNAD, eBay will side with the buyer meaning it doesn't matter who issued the refund and you shouldn't worry about it". I told him I already refunded her 140 dollars on top of the FULL REFUND eBay issued and that the money eBay stole from my PayPal account was grocery money for my kids and his response was, "Maybe I should start taking 10 percent of each sale I make and put it away for when this happens then my kids wouldn't have to miss a meal."
I'm lost for words. I have just been robbed and there isn't a thing I could do about it. Nothing has been done to fix this but I can't afford to stop selilng on eBay till I find something else so I'm forced to take it like a big girl and hope it doesn't happen again.

I was told on the phone that I was eligible for receiving a return shipping label, but the seller only has a PO Box listed, so they are unable to provide the label unless he provides a physical address. A week, 3 emails, 2 calls to the seller, 3 phone calls to eBay later, the last of which I demanded to talk to a supervisor, and there is a possibility that I might get the label provided in 24-48 hours when the system can actually update the change in address information that the seller provided today.
So I have had to do all of this to get eBay to provide me with a $50 label to return an item I paid $125 for. This is what it takes to get them to honor their 'HASSLE FREE RETURN Policy' which states: "It depends on the reason for the return and the seller's return policy. If the ITEM IS NOT AS DESCRIBED, then the SELLER WILL PAY FOR RETURN SHIPPING"...

Have sold on eBay for well over a decade and have 100% positive feedback - tons of transactions. Almost never have a problem but IF YOU DO - eBay is the WORST. You cannot email them as you can Amazon, you have to call. I called with an issue - they had a wait time of 50 minutes and I got transferred three times to PEOPLE WHO DID NOT KNOW WHAT THEY WERE DOING AND CLEARLY ARE OUTSOURCED FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY... It's a great forum to sell around the world and I DO think the fees they charge are fair and the site works great...UNLESS YOU HAVE A PROBLEM. This is what happens when a company gets so big and then unlike Amazon which has surprisingly FANTASTIC customer service, they do not care about people and because eBay is basically a monopoly for their type of service, they get away with it. That may change...sites like Etsy and Amazon are taking the customers eBay...you really had better pay attention!

I am so sick of Ebay buyers calling me in the middle of the night, can't even speak English. They call repeatedly. Sometimes same person every 10 minutes all night long, then they also don't use the ebay messaging system, no. Instead they are sending messages to my personal email account. I searched everywhere with no luck how are these buyers able to get a hold of this information. How can I stop them from getting this info? They should be only contacting you through the Ebay messaging system, then why is my email address being given to them??? This is really starting to get me mad. I want my information kept confidential. I hate these people constantly intruding on my personal space and time. Is there a way to make this stop?????

I have been with this company for 15 years and sold as well as bought during this time. For the most part I've never had a problem. Do you think eBay cares I have paid and used their services for 15 yrs, HELL NO! I sold a 100 yr old quilt on there; clearly listed a description of all it entailed, pictures showing any damage, etc. Over a month after I sold & shipped it, the buyer decides to say I didn't list all the damage and she wants her money back. So another 2-3 weeks goes by and even though the pics the buyer sent was the exact same damage I listed in my auction, they gave her the money back. I even appealed the case and eBay could have cared less!!! They didn't read anything I sent, they didn't look @ my pictures; all they cared about was closing another case, so they didn't have to deal with it. I have 100% feedback on eBay. I listed a no returns on my auction and this buyer when she took pictures - took this old antique quilt out in the dirt to photograph. The quilt arrived back dirty; of which I told eBay...NOPE she still got 100% plus of her money back! In addition, I refunded this buyer $12.90 when I originally sold the quilt because she overpaid for shipping costs and as a courtesy, I refund anything I don't use. So, not only did she get her $434.33 back with shipping originally paid, they gave her another $12.90. So in a nutshell; she got $12.90 back that she never paid for! LOSER BUYER AND LOSER COMPANY!

Like many other stories I have read, my story is much the same. I "was" a Vintage & Antique jewelry seller on eBay. My repeat customers were many. I had, over a period of 5 years, built a good business just on my own. My sales kept doubling each year. I was quite proud of my continued success. I had some issues, but was able to resolve them satisfactorily. I "bit the bullet", so to speak, and took back some items that should never have had to be returned. I went out of my way to assist several buyers, who then turned around and left negative feedback, for no particular reason. I was never contacted or consulted on any of these issues. I would have taken those items back, but the buyers did not consult my return policy or me.
My positive feedback numbers were around 2,000. Over the 5 year period, I had become a Power Seller, #1 rated, etc. My feedback score, I had maintained at 100% for about 5 years, suddenly plummeted to 97.6%..... but was going back up. Getting prepared for the upcoming Holiday Season, I purchased lots of inventory and supplies ($$$) so that I would be ready. Like everyday, I sat down at my computer one morning, my account had been "restricted forever." Just like that! Needless to say, it impacted my life greatly.... financially and emotionally. Right before the holidays, my income had disappeared. I was devastated.
I have lost jobs before, but I was aware people were being let go. I could prepare for that. I did what most others have done, made phone calls to eBay to try to understand what had just happened, but I did not exist to them anymore... I am a person who takes a lot of pride in what I do. There is just "something" wrong here that needs to be corrected. Man's inhumanity to man never ceases to amaze me!

When you list an item on eBay, there is a check box for either "returns accepted" or "no returns accepts". You click on NO RETURNS ACCEPTED, yet when your item is listed, there is a box that says "seller did not specify a return policy". LIE. The seller expressly said on the check box, NO RETURNS ACCEPTED. "Seller did not specify a return policy" implies there is the ability to return an item. Then, after eBay's LIE about "seller did not specify a return policy" it says "You are covered by eBay Money Back Guarantee if an item you received is not as described in the listing."
What a load of crap. First off, eBay's money back guarantee means they freeze your account, freeze your PayPal account and don't unfreeze it until you give the fool back their money. So if you have other transactions going on, you cannot do anything until YOU pay back the fool who claims the item is "not as described". That "not as described" policy of eBay's is a very vague one. My point is that the "no returns accepted" that you deliberately choose when listing an item, as that is one of two choices eBay gives you, is a LIE and is FALSE ADVERTISING.
If I say in a listing that there are "no returns accepted" I expect to see that in the ad on eBay so that customers know and have to choice to buy or not to buy. Try to contact eBay? What a joke. Try to speak to or email someone with eBay, just try it. First off you have to find a direct email address, instead of this lame pull down menu where it gives you vague solutions for non-specific problems. EBay is an out of control monster that needs more supervision and regulation.

How many people have had their account restricted after complaining about a power seller or china seller? We have found some frightening things out about ebay and are moving to other locations to sell. Well, we have to ..there are several people living in our home, of course mom, dad, my college age kids, and school age kids. We have some of my kids friends come and stay over go on the computer and log in and print etc. So our house is always busy. We are white upper to middle income living in California. This is what happened: About 6 mos ago I purchased 8 silver bracelets under my personal ebay account for my daughter's bridal shower gifts. I gave one to my brand new mother-in-law, I also just married. Even though they were all stamped .925 they were fake. One of the gift receivers gracefully told me as their dad happened to be a jeweler! Yikes! They looked real to me and were advertised to be 100% solid silver. I was so in shock and felt horrible. I complained. At the time I was not selling anything under my account, just buying things. I seen the seller was selling 2400 a day! I figured I better get the bracelets they are so popular and will sell out!! Well, they were not real. I tried to tell eBay and thought I was being a good samaritan. It did not pay for me to turn in those large mass silver sellers selling fake silver.
I woke up one morning and my account was restricted forever! I had been on ebay for over 15 years!! Well, it gets better.. months later...my husband and I made a purchase (on my husbands eBay account that he had before we were even married) and it was not a good one. It was a beautiful designer dress for my daughter's wedding. I received it and it was a cheap copy from another country. I was very upset and wanted to return it to the seller. I did but was out my shipping of $18 both ways and they advertised they were from South Carolina. My husband and I do not have the same name due to my profession and, no Paypal connection, no real financial connection to me at this point at all.. but.eBay is cutting his account off too..for being related to me....They really give no good reason just that he is connected to a restricted account and once that account has resolved its issues his will be fine.
I try to resolve the issues and the customer service reps say "WE ARE NOT A FACE TO FACE COMPANY, ANYONE WITH THE SAME ADDRESS, IP, OR EVEN SAME FINGERPRINT AS YOU WILL GET RESTRICTED FOREVER." It gets better, what about my kids in college and their kids or anyone who just logs into this computer? I work at a college have foreign exchange students here and have people here all the time. "YES, WE ARE NOT A FACE TO FACE COMPANY, THEY WILL BE RESTRICTED, too. "...I said wow! do we live in Russia? this is just crazy! I mean why? I sell used items. I asked her to please disconnect my account. Please do not penalize my family or my children or anyone who may be related to me. It is just not fair. I said whatever I did, I will take blame.
In the entire time I ever sold on ebay I only sold one item that was questionable. I sold a vintage coach I found at a Goodwill. When I did I called them about it they told me I was a fraud, I said, "no it was a vintage bag and Goodwill had it marked as vintage." They said Coach flagged it. I said that is fine I will not sell it. But, I was pretty much called a criminal. It was disrespectful to me. I have never sold anything that was outside their guidelines. So, I ask why? All because I turned in a fraud seller selling silver??!! And then a dress knock off producer. All my items are real, unique, from my closet to your closet. I love vintage books, vintage clothing, unique items and not mass produced china junk. I hope someone reads this and has a lot of money to give the small mom and pops like us a venue that will compete with eBay. We are asking you PLEASE!! I promise you we will support you!

I had a collector's item that I sold (without a reserve) for 1/4 of what it was worth retail. The man who bought it said that it "wasn't accurately described" though all the photos were posted in the auction, it was perfect. I told the buyer if he wasn't satisfied he could ship it back to me and I would refund him the money he paid for the item. He said that was "unacceptable" and wanted me to pay for return shipping. By the way, the man left negative feedback before contacting me to settle his issue and I had asked him what the issue was, this was how all this got started. He then opened a claim with Feebay.
I advised if the item was damaged in shipping I needed to know so that we could open a claim immediately and he stated it wasn't damaged in shipping. EBay and they took the money, his winning bid and the shipping money from my account and gave it back to him and stated because I had insurance on the item I needed to open a claim with UPS and closed the case. I called eBay and told them he already said it wasn't damaged in shipping and if they would look through the messages I already offered to take the item back and refund him his bid and he refused. They still said this was their policy and that the buyer wasn't qualified to say whether or not the item was damaged in shipping. They needed a letter from the shipper in writing saying this was the case. They said they would open the case for 15 more days.
Meanwhile, to open the case with UPS, I needed the buyer's phone #, he wouldn't give it to me so again I had to call eBay back and told them how angry I was because they are telling me to LIE to UPS just so they don't lose their funds meanwhile the buyer has my item and my money! So they send an email to the buyer and he gave me a fake phone #. 15 days had now passed and eBay closed the case again. I lost out. The buyer (thief) got the item at 1/4 of the retail price and paid absolutely nothing for it. Not even that, I didn't charge him enough for the shipping in the first place (my error, I know) so I actually gave him money. When a company tells you to file a false report with another company just so they don't lose their fees... well, I can tell you, I feel badly for those trying to make money off selling their stuff on eBay because I will NEVER buy anything off there, or sell anything on there again. They have lost my trust and obviously have no integrity whatsoever.

I sold a clock to someone, and shipped it via FedEx from NY to Colorado. No damage showed externally, but it was an electronic musical clock with animation, and some of the animation was not working. I called FedEx, and they told me to file a claim, and that the buyer should bring the clock in to them. He refuses to do so, insisting he is going to just ship it back to me. I will probably now be out $500 if they can't examine it. He said the only way he would give it to them, instead of just handing it to them wrapped to send back is if I refunded his money immediately. I said I could not do that until I either got it back, or had verification that it was in FedEx's hands. EBay says they cannot force him to give it to the shipping company. The buyer, of course, has already threatened to open a case with eBay. Why do we bother insuring items if the buyer will not even allow us to try to collect on damaged items???

The past 3 months have been filled with frustration brought on by ebay. In December 2013, I listed a crystal ornament that had many bidders and I was happy it sold for about $50. Unfortunately, the high bidder with zero feedback never paid for the item and would not answer my e-mails. I reported the non-paying bidder to ebay so I would not have to pay commission based on the final bid. Ebay later told me in so many words...too bad...you lose...we are not removing the fees but you can try to settle this matter with the buyer...the buyer who wasn't responding to my e-mail!
More phone calls trying to get this resolved. I checked my acct to see if the fees were removed and found my feedback score increased. I checked to see who gave me the feedback and it was a person who purchased a $900 coin. I don't sell coins. Checking further, I found another coin was sold for $7000! The buyer was waiting for his coin. He sent the money. It was then I realized my acct was taken over by an anonymous seller who was selling using my ebay seller name. He received payment somehow but any fees related to the sale of these coins went to my account. I was to pay his commission.
I contacted ebay and told them and I was told eventually that everything was taken care of. After that, I found a message telling me the buyer did not receive his coin and I was to refund his $7000. They told me it would be taken from my bank account. Another phone call to ebay & Paypal to try to resolve this one. After that upsetting experience, I waited some time before I used my account to list an item to be sold only to find out my account was restricted.
Once again I called ebay/Paypal repeating my story, name, phone number, to each person as I was transferred back and forth. Ebay told me my account is fine, it must be Paypal who has the restriction. Paypal told me there is no reason for them to restrict my account it must be ebay! So I was transferred back & forth with no resolution. My account was restricted. No one knew why. Nobody knows how to get the restriction removed. Nothing was done.
This week I called again to try to get some answers. The person I spoke to said he would look into the problem. Yesterday, I received a message from ebay telling me how to get the restriction removed. I have to fax the front & back of my driver's license or some other government ID. They want copies of my bills to show I live at my address. They want receipts of the merchandise I have listed (the last item I listed was the crystal ornament) and after 3 weeks of them reviewing everything, I might be able to use my account again. Until then I am forbidden to try to sell or buy anything on ebay.
I really don't understand what exactly they want here. I don't understand the logic behind this. I feel as though I am being treated like a criminal and I did not break any rules. I think ebay should put more effort in finding out who hacked my account instead of trying to make things more difficult for me to get back to selling on ebay. Dealing with their customer service is a nightmare! I reached my limit of frustration and at this point it's just not worth it! And that is after selling on ebay since 2002 with 100% positive feedback and over 1000 items sold. GO figure!

Unfortunately the item stopped working completely within 2 and a half weeks. I got in touch with the seller who then accused me of breaking it and so I opened a case against him. I ordered a DSLR camera from eBay that was shipped through FedEx. I was under the impression it would require a signature for me to receive the package but this was not the case and the delivery driver just dropped it off on what they say was my porch. When I went to get my package it just wasn't there because they either brought it to the wrong house or someone stole it off my porch. Went to the seller who told me they wouldn't refund my money because eBay doesn't require sellers to need signatures unless it costs $650. Went to customer service with eBay who immediately told me they wouldn't refund my money because my FedEx tracking stated it was delivered to my address.
After calling the appeal office and talking very heated for about two minutes the woman immediately had me file a form and reversed the case decision and refunded my money. She said this was a one time courtesy that they were doing for me. Why did it take two weeks for this to happen if it literally took a two-minute phone conversation to get my money back?
Moral of the story is to know the policies before you buy. If I had known FedEx wasn't going to require a signature, I would have added that to the shipping myself (which you can easily do on you package tracking page on FedEx). However, it is highly irresponsible of companies to ship things worth $500 and not require a signature because they're too cheap to spend an extra $2 on shipping. Now they will be blacklisted by me for their incompetence and poor customer service skills. eBay is not responsible for items lost once they are delivered to your address but with no receipt, signature or proof from FedEx they can't say you actually received your item. If you have a situation like this go to ic3.gov. It's the Internet Criminal Complaint Center's form for victimization over the internet. This is the form eBay had me fill out before refunding my money.

A common seller of less then 400 items a month is responsible for its feedback for a entire year and pays higher fees gets less billing and can be removed from selling for more then. 1% of customers are not 100% happy and content on every aspect of their purchasing experience weather purchasing new or used.
However if you are big enough and make Ebay barrels of money, they give you different set of rules to insure you do not have that same problem as the little people. Ebay states if you sell over 400 items monthly they will look the other way on any complaint or negative feedback, that is over 3 months old and give you extra chances to bribe and convince the unhappy customer to revise their feedback with "revisal request."
I have seen small sellers get kicked off for the smallest of issues yet, just go to any big used cell phone seller from china and you will see accusations of fraud and mistrust plastered all over feedback as well as 25-100 more that were able to be revised. Now do not think you will receive that quality service they require from the small sellers when you have a problem with them. They forward U.S. small sellers phone calls down to India where It appeared to me that they were not there to help, rather to learn English from me at some hands on program set up by ebay, to simply wear down the complainers and insure they think twice before calling again.
I am not sure if the operators are paying to learn English from me, or if Ebay just thought that English as an employees second language would be the best customer service choice they could make. Now the Paypal customers get courteous English speaking American operators due to that being the cash hand of the operation.
Do not forget just because you live in the U.S. does not entitle you to justice. If you read the massive sellers agreement you will see you are never allowed to be part of any class action lawsuit and if you are going to sue on your own accord it must be in Salt Lake Utah with all travel experiences regardless of outcome paid by you and you CAN NOT SUE FOR MORE THAN 300 dollars. I am a jeweler and gemologist for 25+ years. I have enjoyed and owned many fine high end watches and they are always mechanical watches. I sell, or should I say, I used to sell on eBay. December 2013 I sold a Piaget 1904 coin watch with a pocket watch that folds out when you pop the coin case open. This was an 18k watch and 22k gold coin on a Piaget Crocodile strap and an 18k Piaget Tang buckle. I stated in the "auction" that the watch winds, the balance wheel turns but the watch doesn't keep time and will need a service. I also stated in the auction that the watch is being sold "as is".
Seven days later the watch sold for $3533.00 and the buyer paid for it and I shipped the watch. Now, I knew this buyer, I've sold him watches before. He buys on eBay and sells in China and Hongkong. Two and a half weeks later I get an email from him saying he wants a refund and gives me his cell number. I call and his response to me was he wants his money back because he can't sell it in Hongkong. I politely tell him that the watch was being sold as is and I'm sorry he can't sell it but that's not my problem. Ten minutes later I have an open case on eBay saying "item not as described". Here we go again. He says the watch has no case back and it is incomplete... The coin back is this watch's case back.
I called eBay immediately and state my case. The girl on the other end of the phone, who sounded 12 BTW, tells me that they are going to side with the buyer in this case because the watch should have been listed under "sold for parts"... This is a fine mechanical watch that can be repaired and maintained for another 100+ years. This was not being "sold for parts", I knew this and the buyer knew this. eBay decided to refund the buyer his money. The fact he couldn't sell it is the only reason this was refunded by eBay. I have since closed my bank account, credit card numbers, cash station card number and savings account info. eBay can kiss my **!!!

The other complaint is they still don't show you clearly what your final values are going to be for an auction item before you list. You don't know clearly until after it is sold. Of course if you search you can pull up reference guide for final values fees but seriously they could easily show you this prior to auction listing but don't want to. I think they've long made up for their start-up costs... They have had a monopoly for quite a long time and I am a long-time seller. I just think they have done nothing to respect long-term sellers/buyers in the form of reducing charges or fees. It just feels so much like a monopoly.

I sold a guitar on eBay and I shipped it parcel post. In the auction I listed shipping was free for the buyer. I sent the item in mid December. That's a peak time for the post office because of the holidays so shipping was slow. The sends a complaint about shipping taking too long and I responded with the tracking info and let him know it's Christmas and the post office was slow. Early January the package was delivered and I escalated the resolution since it was delivered. I was told to do this by an eBay rep. So eBay sided with the buyer because his zip code was different from the delivery tracking information.
I contacted the post office in that area and spoke to the post master. He familiar with the buyer and knew him by name. The post master verified that the post office delivered to different zip codes. This didn't help my case because as I made attempts to resolve the issue and do the right thing I ended up digging myself into a bigger hole. I was told that my tracking info wasn't sufficient and I should've had signature verification. My problem with this is that my tracking information was sufficient. It was delivered, but not to the same zip in PayPal. So my thoughts are even if I had signature on delivery, it would be null and void because according to PayPal and eBay it still went to the wrong address.
So I think the buyer knows this loop hole and just let it ride. He got a guitar for free. And the part that burns me is eBay never made any contact with the buyer. I've done the research on this guy and he uses multiple accounts to buy and sell in his name and his girlfriends. And there are other folks on the internet that are not happy with this guy’s operation.

There were no complaints against me, I have 100% feedback score. Numerous phone calls 4-5 times call per day to eBay. I reached only Asians and Filipino representative who barely spoke English in their Trust and Safety Department. These non-Americans non-English speaking eBay Reps are the same people responsible for suspending hundreds of USA SELLERS.
I depend upon my investment sales in eBay to feed my 8 children, and we are devastated. We do not want to become welfare recipient because these eBay non-American foreign representatives judge and use non-American standards against US Sellers. eBay knows I am a good eBay Seller. Since the time my parents registered on eBay 1996 I have brought more than 1000 eBay sellers and buyers to eBay. When many sellers left eBay because the economy was bad, I encourage others to stay on eBay. I am requesting eBay reinstate my account, and I promise I will not post items with pictures labeled USA SELLER anymore. eBay USA made an agreement with China Post for products to ship from Asia for pennies on the dollar called "epacket ship" (eg., Ring bought from eBay Asian seller $2.00 +0.20 postage). Return damage ring to China, postage cost $68.85, this is reason most US buyers are ask if shipping from Asia.
I was not aware this was offensive to the Asian sellers, and would have quickly complied if eBay requested not to label my listing pictures eBay Seller. EBAY’S SOLUTION: Immediate unappealable indefinite suspension. eBay suspended my account for a secret reason not stated in their policy. While eBay has gone Global, they use non-American Asian representatives to handle the USA sellers which result in numerous violations against Americans: civil rights, consumer rights, injustices, unethical & unfair practices, and discrimination, Financial, hijacking or theft, loss of jobs, family break ups and more welfare recipient. I will be forced to apply for Welfare, food stamps, etc if I am not reinstated. I believe the States ought to take an aggressive stands on eBay on suspension accountability. It is difficult for eBay suspend their Asian sellers because their country will not allow it. Recently eBay was order by the court to reinstate a seller.

I bought items for $100 plus $74 shipping. They shipped in 2 boxes. The first box arrived with items broken because of poor packing. The second item was not delivered by UPS because of obvious glass breakage inside the poorly packed carton. UPS tracking confirms this. I opened a case with eBay, but they said I received the items (I did not). I appealed and even copied the UPS tracking that showed the item was not received or even attempted delivery because of breakage. They denied my appeal with no explanation. I have over 1500 good transactions. This is incredibly poor and unfair customer service. They should be investigated by the government for their crookedness!

I sold a brand new iPad 2 16 wifi to a buyer in Brooklyn, NY. I sent priority and insured. Well almost a month goes by and I totally forgot about it. I went to pay my eBay bill and saw they issued me a credit for the iPad. That made me curious and I looked into why. To my dismay I found out that eBay issued a full refund $311.00 for the iPad. They claimed I didn't put down the tracking number. So I was totally out the money. They took it out of my Paypal account. As soon as I found this out I went to the post office and I have proof that it was delivered and signed for. Yet eBay closed my case because they said I didn't respond.
Maybe they should email the seller and let them know instead of putting it in the resolution center. I am a very small seller, I do not look every day so I missed seeing eBay's posts. So now I am out $311.00. I am so upset. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there somewhere online where I can let others know about this fraudulent buyer? In the end, I am out the money insurance and eBay... and I am not covered.

I bought a NAS, Freedom 9 Freestar 4020 from eBay. In the ad it mentions no drives come with the unit referring to SATA Hard drives and that's fine. There is no mention that the software, which has to be put on the any drives you install also does not come with the NAS. The seller told eBay that I could download it which would be fine except the company that made the drive is out of business and while you can find all the PDFs you want as far as manuals go, you cannot find anything on the required software...not anyplace. I spent 8 hours plus trying! eBay will not honor the buyer's protection because apparently they feel that's okay. Below is the ad:
"9 NAS Server that will hold 4 SATA drives. The Freedom 9 has a total of four removable SATA drive bays. This NAS Server can be used to backup files, file sharing, or for system recovery in the event of a system crash. Total of four drive bays available for your own SATA drives. Hi, early this week I got an email from eBay stating that my account on eBay has been suspended and that I couldn't use eBay anymore. No buying or selling, no explanations given, just that I violated their policies and I am now a threat to the eBay community. I am a stay-at-home mum in Papua New Guinea. I have 3 kids and possibly have cervical cancer. I joined eBay a few months, first as a buyer because I was inexperienced and wanted to read more about selling. I bought more or less a hundred of items on eBay, 2 items I hadn't received in the mail due to our corrupt Post Office here. So I did not report this matter to eBay but I did get 10 unpaid strikes on my account. Reason I have told eBay, due to my Visa Card account having some fraudulent activity going on so I had my account stopped and applied for a new replacement.
However, I won some bids and told eBay in advance that a seller might file a complaint against me and I do not want my account suspended but they assured me to talk to the sellers so I did. Most waited, 2 cancelled so instead I used my husband's PayPal account to pay the others. It was in the midst of paying them that I listed some items for sale. I read on the eBay community pages on drop shipping and saw that a lot of sellers were doing that.
Earlier on I joined a good drop shipper and started selling a few items though at night when I wanted to check my progress on sales I got smacked in the face with the suspension email. I emailed them trying to put sense in their heads that I am no threat. I mean catch a plane and come see me, I am pretty ordinary. No scam on me. But they didn't listen, they just kept saying whatever you say won't change anything.
Now I am concerned for some things I bought, I emailed a seller on PayPal filing an Un-sent item and she immediately emailed me saying my profile and Delivery address was swiped clean, I have no record and eBay telling her that I was a suspicious account so do not send her items and what about my money? I asked eBay about this as well but no response. Seriously, are they gonna steal from an unemployed mum trying her best to make ends meet? EBay the multi-billion dollar company? I am so appalled by their stupid policies and unfair treatment. I want my account reinstated, and compensated.

I have been a member of eBay and very disappointed in their policies they claim to have in order to protect members. Many good experiences and also some very bad ones. Most of my complaints have been mentioned in all the other reviews. The deal breaker for me is reading the complaint from the couple who had their acct suspended due to her husband having to endure a 3rd Kidney transplant and they could not pay the fees for the month. I think eBay could have made an exception and overridden their decision to hurt this family that not even care about what the wife tried to explain.
After reading their complaint, I immediately removed all my listings, deleted all listings I had not yet listed and contacted eBay, Paypal, trust and safety people telling them I am leaving for good. It breaks my heart to think that I am a part of a company that can stoop to this level and treat people in this uncaring manner. I have been told that until the system takes my eBay fees out, I can't close my account. I said great, gives me time to contact other members and let them know to read the complaints so they may consider leaving also. I thought I had problems with eBay but nothing compares to the anger I feel about the way these wonderful people were treated.
People don't understand what this couple has had to go through. I don't know who you are or where you are but being a kidney transplant person myself I will tell you this much. I care and I am on your side and will proudly join you in leaving this company behind. We do not need this horrible treatment and will far exceed anything we could have done on eBay. I am gone as soon as I settle up with eBay. I am ashamed that this company can stoop to this level and have no integrity whatsoever!!! May God bless this beautiful couple and I pray they move on and never look back. That is exactly what I plan to do!

When listing, or canceling items on eBay the seller is UNAWARE of the eventual cost of selling an item on eBay. The Seller finds out when they get their INVOICE. eBay says their fees are all available for me to read, however, this is a pathetic excuse because it is software. There is no reason they don't list the estimated fees WHEN YOU LIST IT, other than they know you won't list it if you really know how much it is going to cost. They charge 10% for current bid or CANCELING a listing. They charge 10% of final listing. For an item that is $2200, you pay eBay $220 (!!!) for helping you sell it. Outrageous fees and penalties that eBay is obviously hiding from the end users during the selling process. I would say this should be a class action lawsuit as I am sure thousand of sellers were ill informed as they chose to do business with this deceitful company and then were stuck with the bill!! Use alternatives AT ALL COSTS!!!

Meanwhile, the seller gets all worked up and sends me emails like this: (my name) if, of course, that is even your real name, given the fact that no one by that name is listed as living at the address you have posted and your supposedly (name of the state where I live right now) phone number has a (the state that I moved from) area code. Interesting.
I have recently moved cross-country and haven't changed my old phone number. Luckily, all I own is a prepaid cell phone, and naturally my name isn't in the phone book as of yet, and is only on the apartment lease agreement. Will likely never have a landline phone after all this. He went into all this hassle of tracking down my phone number and my address. In another e-mail, he mentioned that his father-in-law is a postal worker. I wonder if this fact is somehow related to his tracking down my whereabouts.
I sincerely hope that this was an empty harassment and that it won't evolve into him physically doing anything, since hes aware of my current address. If I knew, I would have just tossed the coat and called it a day. Can't undo now.

And this is after I gave 100% refunds to all buyers, some never even sent back the product. Also, my wife's account's selling privileges also got terminated because she has my name as an authorized person on the account, so by default my entire family's selling privileges have been taken away because ebay sides with the buyers and robs the sellers. 126 transactions, 126 positive feedback 100%, I pay ebay >$2,000 a month. Something needs to be done to protect the sellers. We opened a business account wpstop in 1998 and had great feedback for ebay's first 14 years. We have been in the Harley Davidson business for 48 years. We opened a personal account for my family in 2010 current fback 100%. My husband underwent his 3rd kidney transplant and had major heart surgery, which caused us to have a delay in filling a few orders in our account, while his business also suffered minor delays in only a few sales. Ebay suspended selling privileges to the wpstop account and then to the unitwin98 account saying they were tied together (unknown by us). After over a year of buying hundreds of items on the unitwin98 account with 100% feedback, we attempted to list an item for sale and received notice our account could only be used to buy.
I emailed customer support with the issue which stated normal response time was less than 24 hours, but because of heavy volume would take 48-72 hours. No response or answer after 144 hours so I decided to call. Upon calling, I was told that the account didn't meet seller requirements because it was tied to the wpstop account. I asked to speak with a supervisor and first rep was very short and told me it didn't matter because I would be told the same thing and I was wasting my time. She put me on hold for 1 hour and 42 minutes. She did come back to the phone after app 3 minutes and said I should schedule a callback, which I had done to start this conversation.
The phone then went into silence for over 1 1/2 hours, but then there was music and I was greeted by a supervisor. At this point, I informed her that our conversation was being recorded, which I was informed to attempt by my state representative. I assumed this was fine since I was told that I was being recorded. She stated that she would no longer speak with me until I stated that our conversation would not be recorded, which I did in order to attempt to resolve the matter. At that point, she proceeded very disrespectful and told me I was suspended from selling and buying for life. I explained that I had bought thousands of dollars in the last year under unitwin98. She told me I was now restricted from all activity. I questioned again unitwin98 at which point she told me "if I would shut my mouth and listen she would tell me why". She then took a breath and realized she was looking at the wpstop account.
Again she told me I would never be able to sell on eBay again under the unitwin98 account also. I attempted to explain that I understood there was a policy, but could she please consider my health situation at the time and that every issue was resolved quickly. Also take into account that if the account was somehow tied to the wpstop account, that wpstop was a VERY good account for longer than 99% of your accounts. She interrupted, "None of this mattered and unitwin98 was banned from selling for life". So after my 144 hour email wait with no response and then my almost 2 hour phone call wait, I was entitled to 2 minutes of rude lack of assistance.
In closing, my husband's business has been around for nearly 50 years based on knowledge and customer service. After my experience, it makes me proud of my staff. My daughter will also be able to tell her kids that her dad's business was in business longer than ebay, because he didn't chase away great customers after they wrote 1 bad check, because they covered it within days and continued spending thousands of dollars with him for many more years. In closing, the bad people reopen new accounts under a different email and a new Paypal account, while their honest sellers and buyers get chased away after years of quality service. Ebay should consider using human beings in customer support instead of policy reading rude robots.

I rang eBay and told them about the suspension email I received and asked me to submit some identification card to verify my identity which I did.
The next day, I received another email saying that they are permanently banning me from eBay and can't create and can't sell on eBay anymore... My questions was what did I do? Did I do something wrong to be banned without any valid reason? I rang them again to ask why and what went wrong. They just told me that I can no longer use eBay and PayPal. That's all. No further explanation. I think this is so unfair! Suspending account if they like without any reason.
What made things worst was that, the buyer requested for a refund after receiving the item that I delivered and PayPal issued them for a full refund on my PayPal account. The buyer received the item and refunded her money. Because my account on eBay was banned and my PayPal account was limited, I can no longer make an appeal. Today when I starting listing some items to sell on eBay, I noticed 2 new boxes at the end of the page where you click to list your item. One said "Automatically relist item 3 times." The box is checked for you every time you list an item so if you don't want your item relisted, you have to uncheck the box every time. What a money grabbing gimmick this is. For the unsuspecting seller, this could cost you BIG!!!!!!!!!!! Say you list 100 items for free and don't uncheck that box. If you have your listing run 7 days, the first 7 days will be free, BUT the next 7 days could cost you $50.00 and the second relist $50.00 and the next relist $50.00 if none of your items sell. So at the end of the month, you are the proud owner of a bill to eBay for $150.00. I hope every seller reads all of their listings carefully. "Sniping" happens on eBay constantly... Sniping is when someone wins the auction by entering one bid in the final seconds of the auction and wins. They did not previously bid during the auction process - they did not use the "auto-bid" feature on eBay. This would never happen in a live auction but eBay permits this, much to frustrations of some buyers (including me). There is even software available to help people "snipe" on eBay. How prevalent is sniping? My experience has been that it happens constantly. In today's case, I looked at the winner's bidding history for the past 30 days and all of their bids were single or second bids at the end of the auction. Professional sniper.
I have written to eBay numerous times suggesting some kind of buffer that would block out new bidders during the final seconds of the auction. Naturally, eBay allows this practice because it pushes up auction prices which means increased profits for eBay. I prefer to spend my money with businesses that use fairness practices with the consumer... so I will not be purchasing any more items on eBay.

I started on eBay 15 years ago, both buying & selling, and am finally calling it quits. Problems: Did you ever wonder why search results are often limited to just a handful of listings & sellers for relatively common items?
...Shell Game: Auctions are manipulated in multiple ways by eBay, using your cookies to show you only search items that will fit your monetary history of bidding, pushing only items at the highest end of previous bids (+ a little more!).
...Search results are altered by eBay software to show lookers ONLY the most expensive items, unless you are savvy enough to know to look further or use other search words or links. This intentionally gives buyers the false impression that these higher priced items are the ONLY purchase item choices available.
...Buyers wanting to ask the seller a question about an item they are interested in are put through a gauntlet of pages & links designed to reduce/prevent open communication with the sellers.
...Hiding titles of seller FB items so the more criminal Asian sellers can continue to off-load bad goods to US buyers. These high-feedback crooks are enabled by eBay because of the money they bring in through deceptive listings showing photos of items different--lower quality, completely different & unrelated items--than what you will actually be receiving...
..Ebay Buyer Protection is a farce; Cost of (required) return of bad purchases will almost always exceed the value of the item, presenting the illusion that buyers wanted to keep the garbage they received. In addition to this, the seller who ripped you off has to admit that the returned item has been received in good/unused condition and is defective before you can get that refund. (How likely is THAT to happen? You WILL lose even more if you attempt returns.)
...Ebay sellers are able to file Un-Paid Item Claims against buyers who actually paid, and have proof of that payment through Paypal! Yeah. Happened to me!
...Crazy calculation of FB percentages severely under-represents actual number of unhappy buyers & scamming eBay charlatan sellers, which enables their criminal activity to continue.
...Negative FBs for bad sellers are often removed to present a better image for ebay to new buyers who can't know better.
...Customer Service is a sham. Outsourced to foreign countries, it can be almost impossible to communicate with Customer Service Reps if you speak English. This is no accident. Customer service Reps most frequent response: We cant do anything about what the seller is doing (often criminal behavior, knowingly cheating buyers). The phone bill for these conversations is all yours to keep..... and those POOR Sellers!
...Media Ads produced by eBay give blatantly false impressions to people that a lot of money can be made with garage sale items.
...Sellers falsely believe their listings are getting visibility to buyers when they are not. Only sellers who pay large amounts of extra fees for premium services are given genuine visibility.
...Ebay + Paypal fees nickel & dime sellers out of most of their profit, taking the lion share unless you are selling very high-end items.
...This Nickel-and-Diming Scheme also makes actual costs of selling on eBay appear very small when they are--in truth--significant. Most sellers make just pennies in the end while racking up debt for items they meant to purchase with their expected income that does not materialize.
I'm not even going to start on the pop-up banner ads, javascript windows & flash notifications that intentionally keep buyers distracted enough to make mistakes when bidding & buying. This list is just a start. I've seen it all. When the class-action lawsuits come down on eBay in a hail--and they will be caught sooner or later--I will be there to laugh. Until then, it's business as usual for these crooks.

I sell things on eBay and buy things on eBay. As I write this the year is 2014. I noticed the reviews on this issue are about 5 years old. This means that the policies of eBay being represented may not apply to the ones of today. Furthermore I noticed a lot of the buyers writing reviews never checked the seller's feedback before they made their order. My feedback score has no negative feedback because if someone is unhappy, I make sure they are. Also today if you're unhappy with an order, all you have to do is contact the seller (if you checked the feedback then you'll know what to expect). If you didn't check the feedback and find out you're dealing with a bad store, you simply open a case.
eBay will give the seller 3 days to work it out. If after 3 days buyer is still unhappy, eBay buyer protection plan will refund you your money and the whole affair goes on seller's feedback. This is how it works in 2014. I don't know how eBay worked 5 or 10 years ago but these are the facts now. Why are so many of you not checking seller's feedback. If you follow these steps you can't get ripped off even if you are not even willing to take 1 minute to look at the seller's history.
If you are unhappy with an order, then follow these steps and there shouldn't be a reason to come here and write complaints. I want to see anyone write a review that says they followed these step and got ripped off in 2014. I really do. As a seller the bottom line is, if you buy from me and for any reason are unhappy, you are issued a refund and most of the time don't even have to return the order to me (if something was damaged in shipping or defective why would I want that returned, I could lose my store putting that junk back on eBay).
If I refuse to refund you, eBay refunds you and my feedback score will tell the tale. Also any seller who fails to take care of the buyer will find out soon enough that eBay will punish the seller. Seller assumes all responsibility no matter what. This is the seller's contract with eBay. Example If seller put a counterfeit product up for sale and buyer contacts seller for refund and seller refuses (what is this next step so many of you miss) OPEN A CASE. Not only will you get a refund sellers eBay store gets shut down for a couple months or more and the sellers actions go into their FEEDBACK.
SELLER ASSUMES ALL RESPONSIBILITY NO MATTER WHAT. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS AS A CUSTOMER. Understand what eBay's BUYER PROTECTION PLAN MEANS IN 2014. I don't know what the policies were 5 to 10 years ago, I only know that today, if you complain to eBay about a seller, eBay then contacts seller warning them that they now have 3 days to make buyer happy or eBay will step in. At that point, there's not much seller can say (seller makes a promise to eBay saying he will take 100% responsibility of your happiness, if you're unhappy for any reason, seller has failed to live up to his promise).
Sellers can block any buyers they choose from seeing their products, so if you feel that a buyer is scamming you, you can block them from future sales. I issued a double refund to make someone happy and told them to keep the product. The buyer said I didn't put all the info on the product up (I thought I did) but I must honor my agreement with eBay. As a seller, I need you to be happy, for you and my feedback score and because I made an agreement with eBay to take 100% responsibility of the ordered product and more importantly your experience on eBay.

eBay should be held financially responsible for their biased policies. There should be a class action lawsuit brought up against eBay for their policies that cost Sellers sales and money by not putting some responsibility on the Buyer when purchasing. They are totally against small sellers. They try to force everyone to accept returns. I have two cases where eBay collects money from my sales and then cost me money by enforcing biased policies.
This leads me to their customer service or lack thereof. Believe me when I tell you their customer could be the worse customer service I have ever personally dealt with. Words can barely describe how bad it is. They almost have no management there. eBay makes it almost impossible to speak to any reasonable human being. This is WITH reason. eBay does not want you to air your frustrations. eBay wants you to refund and move on. Believe me when I tell you this targets the small seller.
eBay is costing Sellers money and they should be held responsible. Please sellers, Keep the information of this cases. Some day Hopefully eBay will have to compensate sellers for their biased policies with a class action lawsuit and I hope it puts them out of business. eBay is banking that by targeting small sellers the "big" sellers will win out. Please let's put these cases together and file a lawsuit for our compensation and then some.

After researching for a future boat purchase and knowing exactly what we wanted and needed, we went where we always go to get a handle on potential prices. EBAY!!!! Lo and behold, there was one on Ebay that was perfect! I put it on "watch list" and checked each day to see changes. Yesterday it was auction time, and I won!!! Whoopee!!! I won a real bad attitude because after the auction and my receiving the "official" YOU WON!! I contacted a guy named Howard ** in Ocala Florida to set up meeting and paying.
Howard did not respond. I thought that to be strange. I had just promised to pay him thousands of dollars for his used boat. Surely he was watching also. My research led me to believe I had gotten a pretty good deal, and Howard must have thought so too because at 9:30 the next morning he did contact me. One sentence...On the phone and out. Will contact after lunch when back at PC. OK Howard is still kicking so I begin my search for airfare, hotel, rental car. You see, Howard is in Florida and I'm in PA, but I really wanted this boat. It was perfect! I could be there same day!!
About noon Howard contacted me again and said that he decided not to sell the boat!!!! WHAT!!!! You can't do that!!! Oh, but he can. You see Ebay claims that my negative feedback will hurt him and.... if he does it again, he "might" get banned from the site. Big whoop!!!! Better yet I got a request that Howard wanted my permission to terminate the deal.... No way! That should be my boat, yet once I denied his request the case was CLOSED!!! Silly me I would have thought that not allowing the deal to terminate would be the case.
Called Ebay again and was told how important that was because Howard would NOT receive credit for the sale and the little number next to his name would not change.... Really????? In closing my advice is to sell anything on Ebay and if in fact you fetch less than you wanted, just say NO!!!! And those of you thinking and hoping for a good deal, forget about it.. THERE is NO penalty!!! I know Ebay cannot send out muscle to secure my purchase, but they could and should ban this guy, and I know he will get around that too but NOTHING??? Why bother with Ebay?
