This company is a classic bait and switch. They under quote and overcharge you once everything is loaded. The third party they sent charged us an additional $5k after loading every and anything despite telling them what not to pack. I can’t recommend this company to my worst enemy because of the astronomical cost differential between their quote vs. actual cost. Again, everyone was nice enough but the company is predatory. This company claims to be Veteran friendly but exploits you after they have possession of your belongings.

On 5/22/2024 I discussed my moving needs via phone with Chad ** of Safe Ship Moving Services. We went through a detailed inventory of my home including reviewing photographs of our furniture and he estimated $9,700.00 to move my belongings from Thornton, CO to Lino Lakes, MN on 6/21/2024. I then expressed concern with cost because I couldn't afford to pay any more than what he quoted me. He assured me that with our thorough inventory there would no be any surprise costs moving forward and that "if anything, the cost will go down." He also said there was a price match guarantee for veterans (my husband is army). He assured me I could call him any time to discuss concerns or price. This is the type of customer service I was looking for in a mover so I decided to move forward.

He had me pay $4777.90 as a deposit by credit card at that time. He also told me to open my email and click on some forms he sent over. He did not say what they were or the details but said I needed to click on them to move forward. I found out after the fact that the clicking signed my name to a contract saying the deposit could not be refunded.

On 6/19/2024 (2 days prior to the move), I was contacted by a different employee of Safe Ship. He reviewed my inventory, which had decreased since we sold a lot of large items including grill, lawn mower, snow blower and air compressor. He told me that the price to move my items would be $19,000 and asked for an additional deposit. I told him that was not feasible and he said he could discount it to 14,583.60. When I asked to see a copy of the original inventory for comparison he said it no longer existed in their system.

When I asked to speak to Chad ** he told me there was no way to contact him as he only handles sales. When I brought up the price match guarantee for veterans he said there was no time for them to review other estimates I had received because I needed to finalize the move details right then. I canceled my services and asked for a refund of my deposit. I sent an email to the company CC Chad ** stating the same.

I spoke to a customer service representative Kari (would not give last name) on 6/20 to discuss a refund. She said she was not authorized to do so. I asked to be transferred to a manager or someone that had authorization; she said she could not do that and I could only speak to her. Later in the day I received a call from Tom ** who told me the inventory had been done incorrectly and he could decrease the moving price further for me. I had already made other moving arrangements so I said I just wanted my deposit back. He said he was not authorized to do so but would have someone else call me. I never received a call.

I initiated a service with Safe Ship Moving services, to relocate household goods from Florida to Maryland. Amount of goods was equivalent to the items needed for a one-bedroom apartment. Our needs as expressed on the day we agreed was that delivery was needed on 6/24/24 and we were flexible on the pick-up date. The day we were contacted to schedule the pick-up, we were told the delivery would be sometime after the 24th of June. Safe Ship is the broker of the move (they do not move anything). Safe Bound is the shipper who accepted the job (making the move). Timeline of discussions on 6/14/24.

    10:39

    • Received a call from Safe Bound Moving company (the shipper) to schedule pick-up of household goods on 6/17/24. • During this discussion and through questioning, I came to understand that the delivery date could not be confirmed to be 6/24/24. • I emphasized the need for the delivery to be on 6/24/24 and they gave me the number for Safe Ship (the broker) and directed me to talk to them.

    10:48

    • I called Safe Ship and explained my concern. • Safe Ship said they would call Safe Bound and try to get some answers/resolution and return a call to explain. • Never received a call back.

    10:58

    • I called Safe Ship to determine what could be done to resolve the issue. • Spoke with Savanah from Safe Ship. • I suggested that if they can’t deliver on the date I needed, then they should refund my deposit and cancel the move. • Savanah stated some clause in the contract about 72 hours after I paid was my only cancellation period. • I mentioned that when I had the initial discussion and paid the deposit, the delivery date would be 6/24/24, and because now Safe Bound can’t or wouldn’t deliver on that date I should be refunded. • I was told Safe Ship would review the records from the discussion and call me back. • Never received a call back.

    17:04

    • I called Safe Ship. • Explained the issue again. • Person on the line re-iterated the refund policy. (Several times.) • After I explained that I could not be there after the 24th to receive goods, this representative reached out to Safe Bound. • It was determined that Safe Bound were so busy, they would not be able to deliver on the 6/24/2024. • This agent had a suggestion that we put the house goods in storage until another day we are available to receive them. • I asked to speak with the manager.

    • Kari (the Safe Ship Manager) got on the line. • We went back and forth several times trying to explain our points of view on the issue. • I was then told that if I pay a special fee of $1.50 per mile or about $1200.00 then they would be able to deliver on 6/24/24. • I then challenged that if they can deliver on the 24th for this extra payment, then why can’t they deliver on the 24th as discussed when I first made arrangements? • Was told, “that’s not how it works”. • Asked if I re-arrange my schedule to be there on a date they can deliver? Was told they can’t determine when a delivery would occur, just that it would be within a 10-day window. • I challenged, that is not how any of my previous 6 relocation have ever gone. I have always asked for a delivery date and items were delivered on that date.

    • This is when the conversation became heated, and Kari started talking over me and being rude. Repeatedly asking if I wanted to forfeit the refund and cancel the move. Kari stated I needed to sign another contract to force me to cancel the move. When I stated that I did not want to sign any more contracts from Safe Ship, Kari became belligerent and kept repeating “Do you want to cancel” about 20 times and not listening to my concerns and questions. Kari then proceeded to tell me that she will take a verbal confirmation of cancellation for the move. Kari then hung up on me.

    Timeline of discussions on 6/15/2024.

    • The following day I received a call at 5:55 pm, from a Safe Ship employee, Sally telling me that I need to sign the contract in the email to confirm my cancellation. This is the first time I was told about the email. That is the only thing she said during this conversation even with me asking questions about what this contract is and how to make sure I get a refund for their failure and deception. • I received one final call at 7:04 pm that night about the move and canceling the move even though I mentioned earlier in the day that I would sign it when I got home from my busy day. However, with that being said, I hadn’t noticed my phone failed to properly hang up and it seemed that they also failed to hang up because by the 8-minute my family and I heard the phone switch over to holding music.

    Summary:

Safe Ship Moving Services will pull the good old bait-n-switch to get your business. The Salespeople will ask when you want your stuff delivered and make it seem great like everything meets your needs. Then the movers will call to confirm the delivery date which won’t be what you had planned to then be referred to Safe Ship who will extort you for additional money to maintain your original moving arrangements. In the end, they broke me down into signing a document I did not want to sign in order to not have a shipper show up to my house.

Overall, we believe Safe Bound was acting with the information they were provided from Safe Ship and that is all they can do. This is about Safe Ship and their lack of communication, scheduling, and customer service. Through the Safe Ship 7 employees I talked with there was a lack of positive and respectful customer service. Caution, use a high level of caution before you proceed with any kind of business with this company.

So when I reached out to Safe Ship this is their response. Keep in mind I am handicapped and some of my items including my other prosthesis is packed. My other accessibility items required for my daily activities. I won’t be able to pay for the extra cost therefore their answer is sorry for your loss???? No other assistance? Or solution?

Run. Safe Ship will change the price, and then broker the service and the communication will be absolutely horrible. The mafia movers we got were not have souls or moving skills and they wanted me to unpack - not to recycle but to re-use the boxes that I paid for on the next unfortunate person that needed to move. I am so glad I made it out with only forever nightmares and a few broken pictures and an inflated expense for a huge mess of a move. My sales guy said: "Don't confuse my enthusiasm for Safe Ship for an aggressive sales push." I am not confused at all. The sales pitch was aggressive and he was enthusiastic about the commission he received. He laughed all the way to the bank with my money. Don't do it. You're welcome.

DO NOT USE SAFE SHIP!!! They’re a scam and they’re doing it cleverly enough that they “fly under the radar” so to not be investigated. We were up-charged two times after our initial “quote”, which seems to be the case for most reviews on this forum. Our truck was a day late, which we found out one day before pickup. Cost increased when they for to our house. On the phone they told us to leave our lamps unboxed because they would wrap them. When they got to our house they said that they were charging us $20/lamp to box them.

Once the truck was loaded with our belongings, they informed my husband that our delivery date would be nowhere near what we were promised in our quote. However, by this time we were stuck, obviously. Now we’re across the country in our new home and have no idea where our belongings are. Heirlooms, gifts, and special items are floating around the US somewhere and we cannot do a thing about it! Not to mention my husband and I start back to work in a couple of days and don’t have the materials and clothing we need! It sickens me that “businesses” like this exist; how awful it is to know that people like this exist. To take advantage of individuals and families during such a vulnerable time in their lives such as relocating…heartless.

Do not use this company. I booked a move with this company, and I did not initially do my due diligence regarding looking up reviews about the company. After looking up reviews on this company, I called them back to try and cancel the move on the same day that I booked the move. Wow... did I get the runaround just trying to cancel this move. The floor supervisor keep me on the phone for about 20-30 mins trying to win back my business. I felt like they were badgering me and not letting me cancel the move.

I was then transferred to their cancellation department, and the gentlemen asked me why I wanted to cancel, and I told him it was because of the significant amount of bad reviews I read about the company, and he said he had to talk to his supervisor. I was then placed on hold for about 15 mins, and the man came back on the line and said that they will finally cancel my move. I was then placed back on hold for another maybe 10-15 mins, and they finally processed the cancellation.

DO NOT HIRE SAFESHIP MOVING!!!! Awful experience. Quoted $4000 moving from Maine to Texas. Had zero large furniture other than an outdoor patio set. Jennifer ** guaranteed our stuff would arrive to our residence June 11th. Then once they tallied our stuff, they said we had way more stuff than we originally stated, and increased our price by over $2000. Of course they wait to do this until 2 days before the movers come to take your stuff, so your back is against the wall and you have no choice but to pay the money. With the big move, we had no choice and we had already invested money into the move. Then the movers came, to my surprise they were a 3rd party company called ABC MOVERS. Once they arrived, they tried to tell me that we had even more stuff than what we told them which simply wasn’t true, and they tried to charge an additional $1,000.

Fast forward to today, our stuff has still not arrived and it has been nearly impossible to get in contact with Safe Ship reps to see where our stuff is. Also, ABC Movers doesn’t have the correct phone number on the paperwork they give you once they’ve picked up your stuff (it’s an insurance company's phone number) and I haven’t been able to find their phone number online. After days of trying to reach someone useful from Safe Ship we have been unsuccessful and when we have gotten in touch with a “manager” they haven’t been any help. Hiring movers instead of doing it yourself is supposed to make the long distance moving process easier and less stressful, but this experience has been anything but that. A complete and utter disaster of a company, basically a scam. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU ENJOY THROWING AWAY MONEY AND DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR BELONGINGS!

Changed the pricing on us 2 days before moving. Lady said she needed an itemized list of hundreds of items. Was told we needed a “FULL” 12 x 28 box. They left their big boxes of garbage on the load and said they couldn’t load anymore forcing us to leave items behind. (found the garbage on unwrapping items as it was sent with us)

Moved our belongings 3 times to three different locations. Broke multiple items. Boxes marked heavy were on top of dishes marked fragile. They did not care at all. Just wanted to load and unload as fast as they could as the more time spent paying workers, the less profit. We are missing many items including boxed alcohol. And several item of furniture. They sent us multiple emails asking how they did at moving us and we hadn’t even gotten our belongings yet. Person called and left a message to ask how they did, when I called her back (Jayne I believe) she asked me “what do you want?” This was at their headquarters!

Changed the date on us from a Monday to a late Sunday night. We looked for a way to pay them electronically on arrival as it was Sunday night (no banks are open.) If they had followed their original plan they would have gotten the $ that Monday morning by MO or cashiers. Driver said he had to be somewhere else Monday morning and if the didn’t get paid (at 2100 at night) he would have to take the load to town and we would have to pay $2000 more. Unload crew didn’t show up and driver and his assistant had to unload. They left hundreds of shipping blankets we did not want or need along with pallets. Driver then said it was customary to get a tip. Even though we were told Monday morning, he didn’t finish til midnight and still felt he deserved a tip for his bad planning and was angry his unloading crew did not show up.

What a waste of money. Could have moved it for $6000 myself. Spent $14,000 on these guys. I am sorry for the Vets that work for this company as I chose them based on Vet owned. The people in the field doing the work are not vets, they are the cheapest labor someone above them could find and did not give a crap. Be careful who you chose. Do NOT use this company. They are scam artists who continue to ask for more money on the day of the move when you have no other option. They arrived an hour later than the 4 hour window we were given. We told them exactly what we wanted moved ahead of time. At 10pm on the day of the move after they moved the smaller stuff they told us they would not be moving the 2 beds they agreed to move (really 3) and the kitchen table in our original quote unless we paid more money. Their tactic is to get you into a situation where you have no choice but to pay more or your belongings are left behind. Luckily we had other options but in different circumstances I can see people paying because they have no choice. They claim the third party mover is the issue but I suspect there is no third party. I have never had a worse experience with a moving company, or any company as a matter of fact, than I did with them.

The company initially gave me a quote of $3384.54 to move a 1000 sq ft one person living there, 2-bedroom apartment, no appliances and I would be moving my own personal items such as clothes etc. Myself via SUV. The items Safe Ship actually moved, fit into a 10x15 storage with plenty of extra room. I asked if there were any hidden fees or possible increases on the day of the initial quote and was told no. 3 days prior to moving, the price was increased to $5525.54 and a third time the day of the move. I paid a total of $6,835.53 when the move was completed which was more than double the initial quote.

I did reach out to this company and after multiple emails along with a phone call, I was offered $200 which is an insult. Safe Shipping Moving Services takes advantage of people who obviously must move for one reason or another. Expect zero customer service and being upcharged every single step of the process. They will speed you through a quote that ends up being inaccurate. They will refuse to update your inventory prior to pick up. You will then be charged $1300 from Next Relocation the moving company they broker you out to on day of delivery. That company will miss your moving deadline and contract you out to a 3rd moving company who will hide damaged furniture behind boxes and shrubs.

The 3rd contracted moving company hired by the second will charge you an additional $1300 because they drove an 18 wheeler and not the 26 foot moving truck you originally were quoted from. They will also refused to give you any information about affiliation. This unknown company will give you an option of renting a UHaul yourself to carry your own furniture from their 18 wheeler to your property all while you take care of your three kids with special needs. Two weeks have passed since I sent a detailed email outlining the traumatic experience my family endured during our cross-country move, and yet, we have not received a single response from the company. From start to finish, our experience with Safe Ship was nothing short of a nightmare. We were promised professionalism and reliability, but what we got was the complete opposite. The misrepresentation during booking, the unprofessional behavior of the moving crew, the false promises, delayed delivery, and the damage to our belongings—all of it has left us feeling robbed and betrayed.

What adds insult to injury is the lack of accountability and responsiveness from Safe Ship. Despite reaching out to them in hopes of resolving the matter, they have chosen to ignore our pleas for help. It's as if they think they can get away with scamming their customers and leaving them to deal with the aftermath alone. If I could give them a zero I would. They give you an EXCELLENT quote and promise great service. Then, they take your deposit and only then do they inform you that they don't ship your belongings themselves. They use third party contractors. They also don't tell you that the third party contractors can feel free to charge you whatever they want once they get to your house and put your stuff on their truck. If you refuse to pay at that point, they will gladly remove your items from the truck, but you lose your deposit (usually a couple thousand dollars). Then you'll be informed that the quote for the other end (when they deliver) will be even more. Your belongings are basically held hostage until you pay them what they want!

All in all, the move ended up costing almost three times the amount originally quoted. And, to top it all off, there was a LOT of damage to multiple items. Like, big, expensive stuff (washer, dryer, dresser, etc.) Now, after all this, they say they're not responsible for the price gouging or the damages. That you have to take that up with the contractors. Hindsight being 20/20, getting a POD or a UHAUL container would've been the much better option. Save your money and a lot of stress and choose someone else!

I either had to forfeit the money I gave them which was close to 40% of the total cost of the move. Which I honestly should have done, because 3 days before pick up they went over the cost again and for me to keep things at the same price I had to remove half of my things.

Then the worst part of all of this I didn't read the contract fully on the insure because I was like, "Oh they are professionals. Everything should be fine." Wrong. They said that they do full premium packing which we chose to do because it was only $150 more. This was also a huge mistake they failed to wrap my mattress. It was delivered absolutely disgusting. They also say that they cannot move perishables but somehow while I was helping the other mover the one in my kitchen supposed to be wrapping and moving my plates and cups and little appliances ended up filling a full box of food.

I have pictures but he put in chocolate bars chocolate chips, Open boxes of pancake mix. So I would run as far away as possible from this company. They honestly in my opinion should not be allowed to do business. Also I know stuff happens but they did put a hole in my wall because they don't carry your stuff out of your house they slide it down the stairs.

Had over a month to find someone to ship our car and we still do not have it. Boxes marked fragile were packed on the bottom of heavy boxes. Even found footprints on boxes that had been walked on. The sales people and service people do not speak to each other so every time you call there's a different answer for the same questions. My boyfriend has a broken leg so we needed a company that would put boxes in the rooms as they were labeled. Movers got here and said they didn't do that. All boxes dumped in one room. SafeShip brokered this move, took our $16k and dipped. Hire local movers yourself. This company in no way will help make your move easier.

Then delays on delivery with barely any notice.

Hard to reach SafeShip and over 20 calls later. Then suddenly get texted day before delivery about more upcharges of $75 per 7 steps of flight if there are stairs despite them being told it's a second floor move. Then constant delays hours before arrival again and again. The company did not do their due diligence and did not do a route check and can't get it delivered and now charging extra $350 for box truck shuttle delivery on our dime in order to get items. This is after being originally quoted $3100 to move a 10 by 12 bedroom across state lines. The cost has gone up to $4264 as of now! Do not use SafeShip! In Jan 2024, I signed a contract for my move out of state to take place in late April 2024 with a total cost of $3,950. Three days prior to my April move date, Safe Ship Moving called to tell me there had been a mistake with their quote and that the cost for my move had almost doubled; with the new quote being almost $7,000. I'm retired, so this was a hardship on my budget. I was told by their representative that I had to pay the balance in full or they would cancel the scheduled move. With three days before the move date, I had already cancelled my rental agreement, so I had no choice but to pay. The worst part is this company doesn't actually do any of the work themselves, instead they contract out every part of the job, so they can then put the blame on the contractors and avoid all responsibility.

On the day of the move, the packing team and the actual movers each tried to get additional cash amounts from me, claiming that it was part of the service fee. When I told them I would need to call the main office to inquire about this additional service fee, both teams told me "not to worry about it" and that they wouldn't charge me. I was very put off by this and it felt very dishonest, like a scam to get more money out of clients. The moving process was horrendous and unprofessional. Items were packed without care or organization. Belongings were left in dressers and drawers and the furniture pieces were poorly wrapped in moving blankets. My items were haphazardly placed in cardboard boxes with none of them labeled.

Unfortunately, I wasn't surprised when items arrived broken and furniture pieces damaged. I paid for their Full-Package Service, which was supposed to provide insurance against damaged or lost items and ensure my belongings would be shipped directly and not share space with another client, however, my items were split and arrived in two different shipments. Now, weeks later, some items are still missing and at this point, I have little hope of retrieving them because the office has stopped answering my emails and phone calls.

Absolute Hell. This is the first review I am ever writing in my life - and I only do so to hope that somebody out there reads it, and does not make the same mistake I did. They overcharge, stole some of our boxes, showed up 3 days too early (4 AM in the morning to be precise), and delivered 30 days too late. They also do not own up to any responsibility, because they actually are just brokers. They put the blame on the actual shipping company, who then does the same to Safe Ship Moving. They had a very very slimey sales guy Mike - who REFUSED to pick up OR answer a text or email once we ran into issues. He was very slick and helpful and wonderful BEFORE we signed the contract of course, then disappeared.

This is an elaborate con, and I would hate to see other people get scammed too. Beware - most of the "positive" reviews are just members of the team trying to put something on so that they can continue scamming others. PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH (Including YouTube videos - people hate them so much they go through the trouble of making videos warning others....).

They do not provide accurate information on shipping timelines and boast that communication is transparent and accessible at every part of the move when that is not the case at all. The initial quote provided does not account for the nickel and diming that occurs when the movers actually show up to move up your stuff, at which point you do not have the ability to back out of your contract. Don’t fall for the initial reasonable quote presented in your sales call (which is also incredibly pushy, especially for such an expensive decision) because it ended up costing me about $1000 more than what was initially quoted when signing my contract.

No time to find new movers. They claim it's because "you added more inventory" but what they really do is leave items off the original quote (They left off 64 boxes. They included zero boxes, as if we wouldn't have boxes??). They also make sure to change your sales rep so they can say, "yeah, I'm sorry the other guy messed up, but it is what it is. That's the price." Then when you ask for the phone recording to prove them wrong they refuse and ask for a court order. That phone recording would show that the rep and I agreed and he confirmed the price included 64 boxes!!!!

We called this company without realizing that they are "brokers" not actual movers. The representative was very friendly and he quoted a price based on what we described on the phone as our things to move. When we agreed, we had to pay almost 50% of the estimate as a deposit on the spot. A few days before our move, we were asked by Safe Ship to provide a more detailed inventory. When we did that as best as we could, the estimated price went up substantially. They said both the number of items and the volume were much more than the initial estimates. They wanted more money to be paid on the spot, and we did.

On moving day, All Together Movers arrived with a partially empty unmarked truck and an empty U-Haul truck. The moving team was 3 men who struggled mightily loading the trucks, and struggled even more at unloading. At the end of the move, the crew chief showed us some numbers on a Post-It note, and said we owed them more than 6 thousand dollars, in cash. He said our belongings were much more than the last estimate.

Since the precise quantity of the inventory was so critical to the cost, why did Safe Ship or the movers fail to send somebody at the beginning to make a detailed estimate? All told, our within-state move to 2.5 hours away cost well over 8 grand, which was almost double the initial estimate. Anyhow, there were some damaged items during the move, so we asked Safe Ship to help us file a claim. It has been almost 3 weeks and we heard nothing from them. We are not holding our breath. Do yourself a favor and stay clear of Safe Ship.

Updated on 05/20/2024: Safe Ship gave me a phone estimate of $6000 to move my apartment from New Jersey to Virginia. After that, I called Got Junk to haul away a truckload of stuff. When the ** moving crew came, they demanded another $4000, payable by check. They took ten days to drive the 200 miles to New Jersey, claiming they had to wait for my check to clear. That cost me hotel bills, $2000. When they finally delivered my household goods, they left my dresser standing on end in my living room, instead of setting it in my bedroom. They broke my bed, snapping the baseboard and crushing the box springs. They stole $11,000 worth of my electronics, including my laptop, 3 monitors, 3 La Cie hard drives, Nikon digital SLR camera, a leather jacket, a flight jacket, and more. Basically, anything that could be easily hocked was stolen.

Safe Ship said I could submit my claim to a neutral arbitrator but I would have to pay the $300 to begin the process and had to forgo any lawsuit. I would also need to hire a lawyer to prepare a legal brief and produce receipts to prove I owned all the stuff they stole. Now, I found reviews from other customers who were similarly burned. Overcharging their customers at pickup and looting their goods is their real business. Basically, Safe Ship cheated me every way they could cheat me. The $6000 move they quoted me actually cost me S10,000 with last minute overcharges and $11,000 in broken and stolen goods.

Original Review: Safe Ship gave me an estimate over the phone of $7000 to move my apartment to the next state. After I got the estimate, I called the got junk people, and they hauled away a truckload of stuff that I discarded, which should’ve lowered the price significantly below the estimate. When ** moving crew showed up their lead, told me that my household was above the estimate and I would need to pay another $4000. I had a new job waiting for me in this other town so I paid by personal check. It took them a week to drive the 200 miles to my new home. That cost me $2000 in hotel expenses while I waited. They said they had to wait until my check cleared before they would move the truck. Of my previous moves had taken overnight. I kept asking when the truck would show up and they kept putting me off.

When they finally arrived, instead of putting my dresser in my bedroom. They stood it on its end in the living room in a forest of boxes. It was very difficult to get it into my bedroom. When I unpacked, I discovered they had looted my household. I was missing a $2000 laptop, a $2000 camera, three computer monitors, three portable hard drives. They broke my bed, snapping the baseboard and crushing the box springs. Altogether, they broke or stole $6000 Worth of my stuff. Adding together the overcharge, the stuff stolen and my broken bed, it came to about $10,000 worth of broken and stolen stuff. I feel that I paid like $7000 to commit a $10,000 felony against me. These are very bad people running a crooked business, who are fleecing their customers for everything they can get.

The movers came on Monday (I had no other choice) and they emptied all the dressers into large boxed (4' high x 3 wide). They even emptied my mother's side tables with her medicine. None of the boxes were labeled. I told them to put the basement furniture in the garage, they left everything in the garage - except a few items I made them move in the house. Antiques were stacked on each other in the house.

They couldn't find the footings for my mother's bed (who has arthritis very bad & 83) so I had to call a handyman to put some boards across so she could sleep. The movers left without a word. My mother's medicine was in one of the monster boxes with everything else. I had to search through the garage and tear down boxes to find her medicine. It took 2 weeks to find. The garage was so so filled.. I could barely get through to the boxes. I had to pay extra movers to help me get through. HORRIBLE. DON'T USE. I could go on.. and on.

I contracted Safe Ship to arrange a cross country move for my wife and I which took place in January. We opted for the white glove service with a full pack and load so we understood we were going to pay a premium. After a detailed walk through and increasing our estimate we felt like we had high conviction in understanding our costs. Unfortunately, we were way off and became victims of what I can only describe as predatory practices by the movers - Top Notch Movers - that Safe Ship Moving arranged for us.

Everything went fine the day of our pack and load. The team showed up on time and were professional. We were blindsided that after everything was packed into the truck we were going to be charged a full 50% more than the quote due to space taken up in the truck. While some margin for error is understandable, 50% is absolutely egregious and we essentially had to pay because all of our belongings were on the truck and we had nowhere to stay in the city we were in at the time.

Fast forward to the completion of the move where we paid the additional cost and we filed a complaint with Safe Ship. After explaining the situation and speaking with one of their customer service reps, Lesley **, we were assured that the owner of Top Notch would make us right through the claims process. We worked through the 3rd party claims company they utilize, CSI, and for the past 2 months have been waiting for this to be resolved. We were notified today that there is nothing that can be done to enforce the commitment to pay our overages back and are now out an extra $5000 dollars on a move for a 1000 sq foot, 2 bedroom apartment.

I write this as a cautionary tale because I know we are not the only ones this has happened to or will happen to in the future. Avoid this company at all costs and know that their word essentially means nothing. Predatory business practices such as these are heinous and hopefully at least one person/family will be helped by our terrible experience.

At that point, you have no choice but to use the service unless you want to leave items behind or take them another way.

Also, even though the mover says "when would you like your delivery" and you tell them a date, that date is actually not your delivery date. NO, that date is the first day that you are willing to take delivery. They have up to 10 business days from that date to actually deliver your belongings. But that is not the worst of it. They deliver your belongings in a semi-trailer. If the semi-trailer cannot get within 75 feet of your front door, you will need to pay for a "shuttle" to have your furniture delivered. This can cost hundreds, if not thousands of dollars more. Please, do the research and book a company that actually cares about your move.

I specifically gave the instructions on what items went to the garage but had to constantly correct them and have it moved out of garage into house. I have moved several times both in and out of state and this by far was the worst experience ever had.

Imagine hiring a babysitter through an agency for $20/hour for your 9 month old baby. Once you’re out having fun (and have already paid a deposit), the babysitter calls to inform you that the baby has soiled himself, and it’ll be $5 to change the diaper (even though you have diapers) and $10 if there’s poop inside it. Furthermore, once it’s time to eat, they’ll charge separately for heating the meal you’ve already prepared, feeding the baby, and burping him.

When you call the support line for the agency and argue that you’re paying them $20/hour and it should be included, a customer service representative informs you it's company policy, and their hands are tied. Moreso, somewhere deep in your contract, you’ve already agreed to this fee structure. Unfortunately because it’s your baby and you love him, you’re forced to pay these exorbitant fees, lest he go hungry, remain dirty, or choke. It’s not the customer service rep’s fault - heck, it’s not even the babysitter’s fault. It’s the company that set these rules.

This sums up my experience dealing with Safe Ship Moving. They tell you one thing and promise you peace of mind, but in the fine print, you’re going to pay a lot more. I'd prefer they just raise their rates so there's no surprises. Trying to work with customer service and various managers has been akin to trying to get a deaf, one-legged dog to clap - it’s impossible, and I feel stupid for having tried. They can’t hear you, can’t understand you, and even if they could, they can’t help you. I would rather attempt to teach a quadruple amputee sign language than to work with this company again. 2 out of 5 stars because my stuff still got delivered.

I explained to him that I have been ripped off twice before by moving companies holding my belongings hostage after receiving deceptive quotes or deceptive loading practices (wrong space measurements and bricks to add weight). Christian** assured me they give accurate quotes. He then made an odd comment about companies working out of one bedroom apartments etc., and assured me Safe Ship is legit. After reading the reviews below, I decided to dig a little deeper only to realize the number leaving me excessive texts is assigned to a private residence in San Antonio. I will promptly be breaking off contact. Thank you to all the honest reviewers for saving me a headache.

Safe Ship Moving Services is NOT a good route to go for moving services. As a broker, they contract your moving work to a different moving company they claim to have vetted. The moving company that completed my moving services did a VERY bad job. My belongings were damaged, I was overcharged for the amount of cubic feet of belongings I had (overcharged me easily by 150cuft), the delivery was a week late. When I called to ask about the condition of my belongings they said that all I could do was submit a claim. Said claim only offered to reimburse me $80 for my troubles.

My television, furniture items, dishware, and many more items were damaged. They decline to refund any of my storage totes which were used to transport my belongings as well as boxes. Boxes were smashed in and delivered upside down and crushed when the box clearly stated in multiple locations that it was "FRAGILE & THIS SIDE UP". This broker will not be of any level of help to you. If you want better moving services, LOOK ELSEWHERE.

If zero stars was an option that's what they would receive...If you're thinking about using A&S Packers and Movers LLC (Cozy Mosy Packing And Moving LLC) DOT # 4001787 or Safe Ship Moving Services my advice is DON'T do it/get somebody else to do it. Let's start with pick up on November 30th 2023. I was told they would be there by 12. Then got a call they were running late and would be there to pick up my belongings at 4 pm. 4 pm came and when and they did not end up getting to my house until 530 pm- 545 pm. When the driver arrived he choose to park on the street.. (Mind you I lived one way two lane street.) He was blocking my neighbor's driveway which led my neighbor having to ask him to move the truck. Why he didn't just park in my driveway? Your guess is as good as mine.

Next the driver came inside and introduced himself. He began asking what was moving despite me prefilling out an inventory list. Next he waited 30 to 45 minutes for another guy to come assist him with packing up my items. While packing up my items he asked for tape and a Allen wrench to take apart my bedroom set. What moving company comes without tape and tools when disassembly and reassembly is part of the job?. Next I was outside on my back porch and the driver was about to start loading my items in the truck. When he opened the door of the truck whomever items were packed in the truck before he got to me fell to the back of the truck (my move was a shared move). I know a couple of their items must have been broke because I heard what sounded like broken glass. This led to a delay in packing my items on the truck because they had to move the first load back to the head of the truck to make room for mine.

Before leaving the driver gave me a bag of the screws from my bedroom set and told me to hold on to them so that they don't get lost. I went inside to finish sweeping my room (I lived In a rental) and I found screws from my bedroom set on the floor. My move was from VA to SC. I was told my items would be in SC in 7 days. Mind you safe ship didn't tell me this part until after I paid the deposit so beware when dealing with them as well. 7 days Had gone by and I had to keep calling both A&S packers and movers (cozy mosy moving) and safe ship. Everyone Had something different to say.

Two guys arrived with my items. Had arrived on a Dec 9th 2023 In SC (not the same two guys who picked up my items in VA). One who didn't speak any English at all. So they move in my stuff and when they brought my 55 inch flat-screen in I noticed one of the leg stands was missing. I told the driver which led him to look and see if it was in the truck somewhere. Well it wasn't so he ended up calling the main guy. Not sure if he is the owner, dispatch or what. The driver ended up calling the other driver who picked up in VA and he said he gave me both the TV legs in the bag of screws for the bedroom set which I know for a fact he didn't and if he did why was one of the legs still attached to the TV? Ray told me he would replace the leg for me which he did a few Days later.

After they moved in all my stuff into the new house he said they were done. I told him I was told by safe ship they would disassemble and reassemble upon pick and drop off. The driver instantly had an attitude and once again like pick up asked if I had tools to put together my bedroom set. I supplied them with tools even though they should have their own and they put it together. I went into the room and saw he didn't take the protective bag off the box spring and asked him to remove it. He responded with an attitude while responding, "Oh come on." Now throughout this whole process I was respectful and had patience but this was the final straw so I told him it was part of his job. Before leaving he insisted i give him a tip. Mind you I paid over 2000 dollars for the move, provided tools, tape and waited past the 7 Days for my stuff to arrive. I told him he wouldn't be getting a tip when he stated he put together my bedroom set.

I told him once again it was a part of the contract and that they get paid from their employer. He then proceeded to tell me they make little money and I told him I have nothing to do with that. He became mad and walked down the hallway (he still had the protective box spring bag in his hand). When he got to the living room he threw the bag on the floor. (Mind you my 5 month old daughter was in her swing across from where he threw it at.) He told the other guy who was waiting outside, "Let's go," and sped off up the street. I called both Ray of A&S and Safe Ship customer service and reported him because this was unprofessional and unacceptable. After they left I noticed a big chunk of my sideboard of the bedframe was missing its paint (came from them putting tape on it and ripping it off) and scratches on my dresser.

I moved into my place Dec 1st 2023 but have been back and forth to VA finishing some business so I didn't get to hook up my 55 inch tv. I went to go hook up my TV yesterday February 4th 2024 and my TV is broke resulting in my having to buy another one. With all of this being said do not use this company or safe ship who dispatched this company to me. They cost me both time and money on things I worked hard to get. Not to mention the unprofessionalism and attitudes that were displayed.

We filled the POD to the max and what we could not fit was left. I contacted PODS again to see if we could get another container but the time window was too short and could not be delivered on the day I requested. I appreciate PODs for their honesty. I started searching online and came across Safe Ship that says they are the number one moving company. When I called the first question I asked was, "Can my stuff be delivered on this day." The guy on the phone said "Yes if you hurry and pay today we can get the stuff to you by the 26th of December". I asked several more times to make sure. I was told Yes. The guy even said, "If you want to receive the items by that date then we should schedule an early pick up."

No one told me that I needed to pay for an expedited delivery fee. I was never offered that. I didn't find out about this until after my stuff was picked up and the 26th went by. I called on the 27th looking for my stuff. I was told that according to the contract it can take up to 30 days to deliver our remaining items such as mattresses, cleaning supplies, etc. I was told that the delivery window does not start until the first day I provide for expected delivery. Initially I was told that the 10 day delivery window starts when the items are picked up. When I called on the 27th to complain, I was told someone, "Will call you back and the shipping company will call you." No one bothered to call me back.

I called again on the 29th because I wanted the initial contact call replayed since the company says they record you. I spoke with Alyssa **. Alyssa said they already replayed the initial contact. Alyssa said the guy I initially spoke with was reprimanded for scamming me. I asked to be compensated for the inconvenience to me and my family. Alyssa refused. I asked, "How does someone get reprimanded but I do not even receive an apology or some sort of compensation." Silence on the phone. She said her boss Savannah ** would be calling me back by the end of business day. I am currently waiting. My son has autism, asthma, seizures, ADD. I also have a daughter, husband and a dog. They downplay the shipment size to tell you this unbelievable price it cost but when the movers show, load up and tell you the actual cost it’s almost double. Now you’re in a battle to either unload the stuff or suck the cost. The rep that you dealt with (mine was Andrew), make you feel like they will be with you every step of the way, then after all the issues began, the reps are nowhere to be found because they already got their money. I told customer service I’m moving a twin bed with 60 large boxes. They put on the contract 350 cu ft. After movers load up they told me it’s 550 cu ft, 200 over and it’s now an extra $1100. From $2666 to 3790. Scammers. If you don’t pay the second payment they hold your stuff hostage. Scammers.

Our profound disappointment with Safe Ship compels us to strongly caution anyone considering them for their move. It's apparent that "Safe" Ship is anything but safe. What began as a search for a veteran-owned moving company swiftly spiraled into a web of deceit. Through misinformation, predatory marketing, and coercive tactics, Safe Ship convinced us to sign a sales contract, complete with a significant deposit that is non-refundable after three days.

Shannon **, our supposed "agent," assured us that the delivery window would start from the date of pickup, both verbally and in writing through text messages. She even guided us in selecting the pickup date to align with the "first available drop-off date." This was THE sales point that sold us on their business as we strongly desired a specific date window.

However, on the pickup date, we were blindsided with the revelation that the delivery window actually begins from the "first available drop-off" date, directly contradicting Shannon's information. The shipper informed us there was a “Premium Guaranteed Service” we could purchase at $0.60 per mile which would have added at least $1,000 to our move. We immediately called Shannon who said she would get in contact with customer service. Trusting her to resolve the issue, we went ahead with the service so we could execute the move as planned.

Later that day, when our movers were almost done, customer service again informed us our delivery date would be 5-14 days from the "first available drop-off" and again told us about the “Premium Guaranteed Service”. This felt like a bait-and-switch to us, so we’ve been trying to get Safe Ship to own up to their tactics. Shannon and Alissa, her manager's manager, are reiterating the 5–14-day delay from the "first available drop-off date" and insist that anything Shannon said is non-binding. They refuse to admit they are wrong and have even apologized for OUR misunderstanding, not the bait-and-switch.

Shannon's misinformation not only led to a substantial contract with Safe Ship but this veteran-owned company has shown no willingness to assist our 100% disabled veteran family during this extended wait. Consequently, we've had to purchase essential items (pots, pans, dishes, winter clothes for our kids, blow-up mattresses, etc.) causing extra financial strain and emotional stress during our move. Efforts to resolve this issue have proved fruitless. Consequently, we are submitting this complaint in hopes that others see our story and choose not to conduct business with Safe Ship.

I gave them an over estimate of exact items to be shipped just to avoid last minute extra charges. Once they could not ask for more money because I actually had less items, they came up with the fact that some of the items which I had fully disclosed what they were, are not stackable so the estimate they as professionals gave me was inaccurate so I had to pay more. And on top of everything else be aware they ask for the remainder to be paid by cash or zelle so you can't even dispute that. Even though they don't tell you this from the start. They said Venmo was optional too but they all of a sudden they had an issue with their account. I cannot give accurate amounts because the quotes they sent me through email expired and cannot be retrieved.

I did not know that I was sharing a truck with multiple people. I told the mover that all of the items were on the estimate, so why was I not allotted enough space. He could not give me an answer. He recalculated the amount of space I would need and the total was now $4800. I had no choice but to accept because at this point I could not cancel or I would forfeit my $1200 deposit and I needed my items to be moved.

On 10-06-23, I called the moving company to see when my items were going to be delivered and I was told they would be delivered between 10-11-23 and 10-14-23. I believe Safe Ship uses predatory practices to entice people to use their services. They have the person moving at their mercy when they arrive and say "we can't move your stuff unless you pay double the initial cost". Don't make my mistake. Don't book with the company before doing your research. I booked with these people because I called & got a great price. There's a reason they are so cheap. After I booked, I decided to google them. The number of 1 star reviews I read led me to cancel. I was having items moved from my 75 year old mother's house & did not want to put her through the stress of what countless others stated, which you should read for yourself. My experience in the cancellation process was some of the highest stress I've experienced in years. I spoke with Connor to cancel & he held me hostage on the phone. I know it sounds dramatic, but it's the perfect word for what that experience felt like. He continuously said he'd process my cancellation, BUT not until he told me how amazing the company was and said ALL the bad reviews were fake. I'm sorry, who has that much time or creativity to leave so many falsified bad reviews??

I kept telling him I don't need to hear it, I just want to part ways. He refused. Terrible. A lot of hidden fees attached. It's a Broker company that uses 3rd parties that cannot be trusted. They charge per cubic feet, and when providing an estimate over the phone, PURPOSELY underestimate the amount of space your items will take to give you a good quote, and once the movers get there, they take a quick look at your stuff and give you a new quote that is vastly more than the original quote although I had clearly stated the items I had. I ended up leaving a lot of it behind to stay at the same price. Regarding hidden fees- I was charged extra for a flight of stairs EVEN after being specifically told I wouldn't be for one flight. Be wary that they may also charge extra if you live in an apartment and if they use an elevator.

To top that, the movers that did come also STOLE money I had kept in one of the containers. Additionally, delivery was delayed, they stated it would be done in 2 days to a maximum to 7 days, however after constantly following up with them, finally got it in about 2 weeks. The amount of stress I endured during this time made me wish I never hired them. Please do not trust this company or any other company that work as brokers for money.

First, our quote went up 300% from the original price. An increase was expected but it would have been nice if their first estimate had at least close. Since the original quote was low, I'd expected to pay 100% increase... however, 300% is insane. They should take more care with how they do business. Would never use them again based only on this fact alone, however it gets worse because of who they choose to outsource the work to.

Second, I wasn't exactly impressed with the movers who showed up to pack my house. They weren't bad but they definitely didn't seem like seasoned movers who knew what they were doing. Still, they got it packed up in reasonable time and I couldn't complain. Won't mention names because I don't believe they deserve a bad review.

PAY ATTENTION TO BELOW: But lastly, the movers who delivered were not the same guys or even the same company. They not only outsourced to a second company for delivery, they swapped trucks. Stuff was not transferred with care at all. The second company showed up demanding cash before they would unload even though we'd talked on the phone and told them no to cash and they agreed to an alternative payment method. When we pointed that out, the man on the phone got angry and started threatening us insisting we had agreed to pay in cash and that every hour we were late in paying they'd add $100. Very rarely have I ever felt the desire to physically harm someone... let's just say my wife had to calm me down that day.

After running around trying to get cash for an hour, we came up with less than half what was needed. Only then did they agree to let us pay the remainder with, you guessed it, the original payment method we'd agreed to use when we spoke on the phone. They still charged us the $100 extra for being late when it was their own fault we had to wait an hour.

After that, it ended up being very late when they finished. They scratched the floors when putting furniture together, put stuff together wrong, & lost hardware. Oh yes, and over half the furniture was broken. Luckily I'm pretty handy and was able to put my tools to use in repairing everything to working condition. The company that delivered was Moving Forward Group out of Grand Prairie, Texas. Or at least that was on the truck. If you ever come across them, do yourself a favor and run the other way. They have no respect for people, property, or possessions and what they did was basically extortion. I almost gave up and called the police when they wouldn't release our goods without cash payment. Thankfully, they gave in and used the original form of payment we'd agreed to use in the first place.

We understand how frustrating it is to see such a large jump from the original estimate, especially when the difference is far beyond what you anticipated. The situation you described during delivery, from the payment dispute to the damage and handling of your belongings, is not the standard of service we expect. I have been trying to work with their customer service, every person I speak with tells me that I must be wrong about how the boxes were packed or implying that I didn't disclose how much household goods I had during the estimate calls. I keep getting told that someone will be in contact but after almost 3 months I still have no resolution, refund, or even the necessary paperwork to file a damages claim.

From that point forward, I was contacted over and over again by Steve **, a salesman at this company. Unfortunately, I decided to move forward with this company and everything that I have been told has turned out to be a lie. From the original price that was quoted, to being told, “I would be contacted 48 hours before the movers would show up” to “my items would arrive on, or around a certain day.” I’m to be moving into my new apartment tomorrow and I was told my things would be arriving that day or the next.

Turns out my things are not even in route and it could be 5 to 14 days until my things arrive. Although this is not what Steve had told me. TLDR: Will repeatedly lie to you to get you to sign with their company. Experience will be nothing like you were told. It will cost more and take longer and be filled with more and more lies along the way. Steer clear unless you want piles of stress and to spend way more money than was promised. This is by far the worst moving service I have ever had the displeasure of working with. My partner and I have completed 5 international military moves (in theory, setting the bar for bad moving experiences), but SafeShip has been far worse.

It started off well enough. I was contacted immediately after requesting a quote and connected to a local handler, Gavin, who had a great interest in getting me booked on a truck that he had scheduled to arrive in our area a few weeks before our anticipated move. Due to the good price, we agreed on this earlier date. Having moved many times before, we asked many questions. Would we be allowed to ship alcohol? Yes. Did it need to unopened bottles? No - it just needed an actual lid. Would our storage unit down the hall be a problem? Nope. Would there be any extra fees? Nope, long carry, elevator, etc would not apply. Great! We supplied Gavin with an incredibly detailed spreadsheet of our belongings. It listed each item with LxWxH dimensions and what room it was located in. We even included how many hangers were in the closet. Our price was calculated and we made the deposit the same day. Everything seemed great.

After that it was impossible to get ahold of Gavin - he rarely answered any of our communications. Since we were due to fly across the country, we wanted some assurance that the movers would arrive when he said they would so that we could book flights. We also wanted information so we could reserve loading/elevator areas on either end of the move. Eventually he assured us that the movers would arrive on the agreed date, so we booked flights for the afternoon of the day after the pack. We were told that we would receive the arrival date of our stuff on the date it was picked up. The move was anticipated to take around 14 days.

A week before the move, we get a call from somebody else, who wants us to go through our inventory AGAIN. We detail the exact same items. At this point, this new individual increases the price of our move - despite the highly detailed inventory being EXACTLY THE SAME. He also informs us that no alcohol will ship whatsoever. Yup, all 10+ questions we asked Gavin about alcohol he completely lied about. We get a call before the day of the move telling us that movers will arrive 2pm-5pm, which is a little late. We had detailed to Gavin what would make it easiest for the movers -arriving early and securing the loading bay. Sometime later the arrival timeframe moves to 11am-3pm.

Day of the move (Friday) we get a call at 4pm - movers wont be arriving until 5pm-6pm and they want to start in the morning. This is a huge no since we have a cross country flight at 2pm the next day. The time continually slips - apparently they allowed the customer before us to leave while they were packing and he never came back. Why would you allow somebody to leave before paying and signing the paperwork?? The movers don’t arrive until 7:30pm. The man in charge says that this should count as long-carry but he wont charge us for it if we “take care of his guys at the end of the night”. Thank you for yet another lie, Gavin. At the end of the night the price goes up yet again. Shame on me for not checking the truck to see how awful of a job they did at packing it - apparently what they use to calculate cost.

Finally with everything packed, he tells us that we will need to call the office on Monday to get an idea of when the truck will arrive across the country. More lies, yay. We call on Monday - the truck is just sitting there, no driver has been assigned. They will text us towards the end of the week when a driver is assigned. They never do. We have to call many times to get an update. The truck does not start traversing the country until 7 days after it was loaded.

When it finally has a driver, they tell us on a Friday (7 days post-pack) that arrival will be in 3-5 days and that we will hear from the driver 24 hours prior. This is again, not at all what we were told when we booked. On Monday (10 days post-pack) we get a text that arrival will be in 4-7 days — quite a different story from the 3-5 days we receive THREE DAYS EARLIER. Another week of no contact from the company - despite responding to the text informing us of the 4-7 days. We call several times on Friday (14 days post-pack) for an update. The update - the driver will arrive between Tues and Thurs, aka beyond their last timeframe and now in the 18-20 post-pack days.

This company should be ashamed of themselves for how many times they have lied to us - and we don’t even have our stuff yet. Completely awful experience, would recommend this company only to my worst enemy. The following Monday (17 days post-pack) we get a call from Mike from Moving. He informs us that we have been unable to get an ETA for our delivery because we have been calling the wrong department. This is confusing to me since SafeShip reached out to us - via text - about our delivery. This is the number we were contacting. These were the people we communicated with - shouldn’t they have known if they weren’t the correct people to talk to?

Regardless of this internal lack of communication, Mike tells us that our delivery will be in 5-7 days, which puts delivery in the 22-24 post-pack day timeframe. This is confusing since I definitely asked Gavin about the worst case scenario timeframe and he indicated 21 days. This was a crucial part of our decision making process since we did not want to be stuck in limbo with no place to stay for weeks on end. Gavin had told us that he sees these moves take an average of 14 days, but it would be here within the 7-21 day range.

To their credit, SafeShip called the day after I submitted this complaint. They told me they would investigate by listening to our recorded calls with Gavin and determine a course of action. Several days later, their course of action was to do NOTHING. They assume no responsibility for lying repeatedly to potential customers just to get them to sign

I have decided post for what will be actually be helpful to people. Do not be misled by the terms “family run”, “we” or “trusted partner”. SafeShip is a large broker that makes at least $1.5 Million each MONTH by arranging moving deals. They are not your family, they are not physically packing or moving any of your items and based on the many of the 1 Star Reviews posted below, I think trusted partner is a stretch. The $1500 that will be taken in the 30 minute phone call you make with them is strictly business. They are not invested in your home and belongings the way you are.

I do believe there is a need for the service they offer and I hope that the notes I have below will help you have the best result possible!***I came up with $1.5M based off of our move which was $3K after a discount. Half goes to SafeShip and the other half goes to the moving company. Their associates were quick to share with me that they coordinate at least a thousand moves a month.***

A helpful checklist when using SafeShip or any Moving Broker:

    1) SafeShip is NOT a moving company. Even though the terms “we” and “our people” all over their website, they are only the Broker. They do not verbally disclose they are a broker while placing your order. They do not have employees that wrap and pack your belongings and they do not own any moving trucks. Their job is to farm out your move to 3rd party moving companies that have been vetted by them. Vetting is a misleading term as you can see from the many 1 Star Reviews below.

My recommendation is that you require SafeShip to provide your 3rd party mover within 24 hours so you can do your research on them. If your 3rd party company does not have any good reviews, you can ask SafeShip to provide another moving company or get your money back. As stated on the SafeShip website, you have 48 hours to cancel. They may tell you it is not possible to find a 3rd party company within 24 hours. I think for $1500 that is a reasonable request unless they decide to extend their cancellation period.

    2) There is no %100 Reimbursement. The optional insurance quoted for full replacement was $14,000 and we had a small move. Since the insurance is so outlandish, this is probably why people opt out. Let me be clear, the insurance purchased goes against the 3rd party mover, NOT SafeShip. The claim goes against the 3rd party moving company and if you’re lucky, you may receive a %10 of a refund based on what it would cost you replace the items.

SafeShip is quick to mention that they are “fully insured” but that will do nothing for you if you need to replace items. There is no refund by SafeShip because as they will tell you, when you sign on the dotted line, you waive your right to hold them liable for any damages. Even though they refer you to the 3rd party vendor and work closely with and coordinate your move, they are blameless. When they say they act as your advocate in the event that something happens, please know there will be no apologies on their behalf and you will have to fight tooth and nail for any compensation. Look at this service like buying stocks through a stock trader. You may win, you may lose but the broker makes money regardless.

    3) In you decide to go this route, watch your movers pack and stack your items in the truck. Many times your items sit in another state before your destination so it may be a good idea to have a location device in one of your boxes. Take pictures of everything before they close up the truck. If the 3rd party movers ask for more money after packing/upon delivery for more than what is on your contract, do not pay and call SafeShip immediately. If SafeShip does not resolve your issue, call the police. The police will help you get your items off of the truck.

While I did not have a good experience, some do. It’s luck of the draw who shows up at your door. Hopefully this will help you protect yourself and hold SafeShip and the 3rd party movers accountable. At this time I have decided not to continue pursuing a monetary refund and would rather pursue excellence in this industry. I do believe there is a need for this service but not in its current capacity. I would encourage SafeShip to pursue the excellence stated on their website. @Mr. Roger ** and @Stanley **, excellence is achieved through great customer service, complete transparency from start to finish and integrity.

During the initial communication with us they were attentive and quick to respond which gives you a false sense of confidence in their abilities. However, they are NOT a moving company, they are a brokerage service who outsourced our move to Geo Van-lines, a company that caused over $7000 in damage to our furniture. That same company nickeled and dimed us with additional charges once on site. When unable to reach Geo Van-lines (which also goes by Eco or Pink Van-lines), they only responded with providing their contact information and instructed us to go directly to them.

The movers we were contracted with did not do a pre-move survey so their truck was too small and ended up strapping some of our furniture on the outside of the truck. They didn’t show up until 1pm on the day of our move and didn’t finish until 5am the next morning. Safe Ship does not contract with reputable companies and wipes their hands clean once the moving company is contracted out. First, it should be known that they are a broker. They contract out to find moving companies who will bid to ship your things for the cheapest price. Usually, they find movers who are inept and offer bad service. I did not realize this when I decided to use them.

I submitted a request for a quote on their website. I received a phone call in literally ten seconds from a smooth talking sales rep. I told them the details of my move. I told him that I will be moving items as a single person from a 500 sq. ft. apartment. He created an itemized inventory list with the furniture I would be moving. He estimated that I would ship 20 medium sized boxes in addition to my furniture. Of course it was too early to know how many boxes I would ship since the estimate was done a month before my move. He gave me a quote of $3,400 including a $1,000 discount for accepting the offer with him over the phone. It sounded like a good offer, so I accepted it.

Four days before the movers were scheduled to load my items, a rep. from Safe Ship Moving Service called to verify that the inventory list they made. By this time, I had most of my items packed. After giving him an update on how many boxes I would be shipping, he said that the original quote did not accommodate for the additional items. He said that he would have to charge me an additional $1,000 for the move. I thought this was outrageous considering that this was done four days before my move, which made it too late to find an alternative moving service. I only had about ten additional boxes from what was on the original inventory list, and they were mostly small boxes. As soon as this happened, I knew this was a corrupt company.

I had many more problems with Safe Ship Moving Services. I went through them to ship my furniture, belongings, and my car. The pick-up date of my car was delayed twice. I confirmed with them weeks before that my car would be picked up by Tuesday, April 25th since I was flying out of Los Angeles the evening of the 25th. The pick-up date was supposed to be April 23rd or 24th. I never received a call from the company with updates. I had to take the initiative to call them multiple times to find out why my car wasn't being picked up. I would call the company and the staff seemed to have no idea why a pick-up time wasn't on file.

After days of confusion and no information from the staff, I finally was informed by a manager named Wendy that the company they hired to pick up my car canceled at the last minute and that they couldn't get a truck to pick up my car until Friday, April 28th. I told Wendy that this was unacceptable since I was promised the car would be picked up by April 25th since I was flying out that evening. She said that there was nothing she would do and that I would have to leave my car at a friend's place to be picked up. I had to inconvenience my friend who is a mother and works full time to have my car picked up at her house during working hours. I was happy my friend was willing to help. Wendy would not offer me a discount and was unapologetic to my situation.

Safe Ship Moving Service does not care about its customers and how stressful moving can be. They are only in business to make moving even more stressful than it already is. Please do not use this company.

SCAM ALERT. Things I wish were fully explained beforehand:

    - The company ONLY hires third party movers and sets pick-up date. The agent you speak to is getting paid COMMISSION who reels in the broker’s fee and gets you to sign contract. Moving truck charge is loosely based on a few questions about items to guess the truck space needed (computer program that generates the quote.)

    - ANYTHING needed after this is not and will not be provided by them. You now must handle the rest of the move with the third-party movers if you can contact them. If you need status on your items, this company does not provide it. You will have to attempt to contact the third-party movers.

    - UPCHARGE IF your items exceed the quoted space AND/OR if the movers cannot or will not arrange the items in an efficient way within quoted space. (I could see more square footage available in the truck that I paid for, but the movers couldn’t figure out how to arrange items to fill the space and had to use more space and charge me more. I’m sure that was convenient for them. I cannot handle the items myself or I would have tried to rearrange. I had to let them over charge me and drive off – I must move today.)

    - The estimated delivery date of your items is meaningless. They will give you a date but movers legally have 30 days to deliver and will use the entire month with no apparent reasoning. My items were to arrive within 3-10 days max and was delivered in 3-4 weeks.

    - Once delivered you must look through all items to sign off that all items were delivered – even though they have an inventory list they can use to do it. Once they leave they will do nothing to accommodate any missing or damaged items.

They say they are licensed and insured – this means nothing. Moving brokers are a SCAM. I will warn everyone who moves about them. They use every excuse or reference the fine print but there is no excuse for the experience I had with this company especially with an out-of-state move that is already stressful. I was in a personal crisis for my safety and needed to move asap otherwise I would have spent more time researching. Save yourself money, time, and frustration! Hire local help, get a U-Haul, do it yourself, this company is not and should not be an option! Good luck fellow movers.

However, the estimate from the movers on moving day was nearly $3000 higher despite the inventory lists being almost identical. Throughout the process, we also emailed & called multiple times with questions but our emails & voicemails were never answered. They were extremely responsive before the reservation was made but they completely lost interest in us & stopped answering once we signed the contract.

I obtained a quote from them 3 weeks before my scheduled move date. Gavin, the salesmen, told me he'd get me a great deal that was really close to the same price as renting a u-hual. He told me that I could triple the size of my load and the price wouldn't change. Original quote was $2,500. They sent me an email the week of my move and we went over my inventory list again. Suddenly they wanted $3,700 to move me and I added a few items but did not triple the size of my load. It barely even doubled.

At this point there was no way to find another honest and reliable company (obviously Safe Ship does not fall into that category) and I had already deposited $1,400 upfront to secure them. I couldn't get a U-haul because even if I could find one the refund from Safe Ship (if they would have given me one) wouldn't credit back in time to my account for me to secure a U-haul. I called multiple people there and they did "discount" me $400 "making my total increase only $800." I cannot stress enough how much money and tears this company had caused me and not one person there cared. Please please please never ever use this company for anything.

I thought this was the end, but guess what, I am not lucky enough. They started texting me and I don't like junk texts so started deleting and reporting junk in my iPhone so it clears the future ones. I'm not going to leave a long rant, suffice it to say it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had related to a service provider. The estimate doubled when my belonging were packed and half of them on the truck. When I tried to contact Safe Ship they screened my calls. I called from a different number and when Leslie answered and realized it was me, she was flustered and put me in hold for a significant period before putting me on with someone who claimed that nobody was available to talk with me.

The movers to whom they subcontracted did not have their own trucks, they rented a Uhaul, they were intimidating, they tried to buy furniture/belongings from me at a fraction of its worth when they realized I could not afford to move all of it (after the doubled estimate). I complained to Safe Ship and was gaslighted. I was able to successfully dispute 3000 through my credit card company, but the distress, fear, and anxiety is not something I'd ever want to experience again.

Safe Ship Moving and Best American Moving, LLC. If you don’t do anything today, I’d recommend that you Don’t Hire or Contract with Safe Ship Moving and their mover of choice, Best American Moving, LLC.. I unfortunately did both and we are living to regret it. To contract for our move from the Kansas City area to Chicago, I did all the normal things. I contacted 3 moving companies, Mayflower, United Van Lines, and Safe Ship Moving, the latter because they advertised as a veteran owned company and I’m a Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran. I always try to support veteran owned companies when possible.

Both Mayflower and United sent agents out to do a thorough walk-through of our home and provide written quotes of all the moving expenses. The two quotes were within $1,200 of each other. Safe Ship, based in Florida, requested copies of the two quotes and based their quote on what United and Mayflower provided. They explained that their price would be lower as they didn’t have the overhead of having to pay someone to come to our home to provide the quote. That made sense at the time.

It was explained that their quote was based upon cubic feet instead of weight, and using the quotes from Mayflower & United, they were able to accurately convert weight to cubic feet. Safe Ship’s quote was several hundred dollars less than the other company’s and because they were ‘veteran owned’, I chose to contract with them. MY BAD DECISION! I was provided with both the phone numbers for Safe Ship’s customer service and the ‘agent’ that brokered the contract and told they would be available at any time if I had questions or problems. Note: once the contract was completed, the agent totally left the picture and never accepted any phone calls or returned any request for follow-up. He was just a ‘sales guy’ as the customer service agent for the company explained.

Moving on to Best American Moving, they were a disaster waiting to happen from day one. We were told they would be on-site to begin packing between noon and 1pm; they didn’t show up. Calling Safe Ship’s customer service, I was told they were delayed on a job and would be at our house in an hour. An hour and half later, after they still failed to materialize, I called back and was told they were still unloading but would be at our house in an hour. I then inquired as to the exact location of the truck and was told it was in Hutchinson, Kansas, but that they were just finishing up and would be with us in less than an hour.

At that point, I explained that Safe Ship was being lied to by Best American Moving, as Hutchinson was in fact a three-hour drive from hour home. I asked how they were going to be able to pack everything in such a short amount of time and was told they would have a crew of four people to do the packing and they would load the next morning. Bottom line, so far, instead of being onsite between noon and 1pm, the movers arrived around 6:30pm. This is important, although I didn’t realize the ramifications at the time, the first words from the driver were “Wow, you’ve got a lot of stuff!”

Okay, we’re off to a rocky start, and then it gets worse. The crew of four turns out to be just the driver and his helper to pack and load an entire home. I’m on the phone again, where is the crew that was promised, well, the story changes and the crew was delayed but would be there in the morning. The driver and his helper worked until 10:30 the first night packing. The next morning, the same two people show up and when I asked where’s the rest of your crew, was told they’d be there soon. A while later, two other guys show up but were pretty ineffectual in what they did and there was a lot of standing around. I complained to the driver, the onsite person in charge of the move, and he ended up firing the guys. SIDE NOTE: my wife had withdrawn money from the bank to give as tips to the guys for their efforts – OUR BAD for leaving her purse in the open in the bathroom, but all the money was stolen. We’re down $200.

The packing and loading continued. More and more boxes are packed but the space on the truck is shrinking a lot faster than expected for a load of our size home. The driver makes a point of showing me the space (cubic feet) was being used in the truck and that we’re “probably going to use more space than quoted”. Red Flag – more space = more money for the move. We are now to the point where two thirds of our possessions are loaded and the truck is completely full and I’m told they are going to have to rent another truck. This saga is getting to be too long, but bottom line, there’s a second truck all our possessions are loaded and they’re ready to leave, except for the detail about how much it’s now going to cost.

Based upon our quote, we expected to pay Best American Moving $6,000 and change over and above what we had already paid to Safe Ship Moving. The driver then presents us with a total $16,000 to complete the move. It’s back on the phone, for hours, negotiating the price. We finally are worn down and agree to a total of $11,000. Customer service at Safe Ship is ineffectual through the whole process and actually complained to me that he had to spend so much of his evening on the phone with me dealing with the problem.

At this point, we’ve dealt with the price issue and begin our drive to Chicago, an approximately nine-hour trip. An hour and a half into the trip we decide to stop for the night as it’s after midnight. We continue the trip the next day and arrive in Chicago around 5:30pm and while still in Chicago rush-hour traffic, receive a call from Best American Moving telling us that they will need a cashiers check, money order, or wire transfer of the balance of the move expense ($11,000) before the driver will unload our possessions. This shouldn’t be a problem, so the next morning I sign into Bank of America and execute a wire transfer to Best American Moving (per the transfer instructions provided) paying the extra fee for an immediate transfer. At this point, it’s just let’s get this over with!

What could go wrong? Here’s what could go wrong – the wire transfer to Best American Moving is flagged by BoA with a fraud alert! The transfer is held up until the banks work out that it is a legitimate transfer. In the meantime, the driver and his helper are sitting in front of our building unwilling to start unloading even though I provided the wire transfer information to them. They must receive the OK from New Jersey to begin unpacking. I’m on the phone with the people in New Jersey and am told that the trucks are going to leave and would come back the next day and would only be staying around for another hour and if they left, I’d be responsible to for the extra expense of the truck rental and per diem for the driver and his helper. The person in New Jersey was very unprofessional, almost yelling at me over the phone saying I should have made the wire transfer earlier and an ‘out of the blue’ comment that if I wanted the move for free, I should have moved it on my own.

At this point, Safe Ship has left the picture – no help there. The wire transfer finally goes through and the driver and helper start unloading the 1st truck. I inquire “Where’s your crew?” “They’ll be here soon”….then the driver leaves in the other truck and is gone for an hour and comes back with another man to start unloading. NOTE: Best American Moving doesn’t have a crew in Chicago – nor did they have a crew in Kansas - the driver goes around to Home Depot and Lowes looking for people that want to work on an hourly basis, off book. The person doesn’t speak English and apparently didn’t know what he was being hired for as they started negotiating the price he would be paid while standing in front of me. The guy wanted $500 but settled for $120.

I have failed to mention that Chicago is experiencing a weird snow/rain/sleet storm and everyone and everything is getting wet. We are semi-back on track and the unloading is proceeding with boxes being stacked inside at the loading dock for the building. I complained to the driver about the slow progress and he get’s on the phone and somehow two more guys show up. The two new guys are fantastic and the move progresses more quickly. By 8:00pm both trucks are emptied and the crew is gone!

SCAM ALERT! How did the price go up so much? Remember, the comment “you’ve got a lot of stuff?”, well, basing the move on cubic feet instead of weight is how we got scammed. By packing the boxes lighter than necessary, they used more space than was necessary, e.g. more than several boxes only had one or two small items in them and were stuffed with backing material for things that we’re fragile and several only had one or two books in them.

Just so you don’t think I’m totally inept, I did research on the moving company through both Google and Yelp. You will have noted that I have kept referring to them as Best American Moving which was their actual name. I was provided, however, a quote by Safe Ship stating that Best American Movers would be doing the move. My research was based upon the quote for Best American Movers not Best American Moving. I was told that it was just a typo on the form. Best American Movers have very good reviews – Best American Moving has terrible, well-deserved reviews.

Examples: flat screen tv was torqued and broken; side table totally destroyed; clothing stuffed in boxes with shoes thrown on top; sweaters were used as padding for a table lamp; the movers didn’t label any of the boxes as to the rooms ; our mattress was dropped in a puddle of mud (we’re still working on the stain); a chair was destroyed and beyond repair, and as we still have unpacked boxes, I’m sure we will continue to find more.

Because I had already signed their Bill of Lading and didn't have the emergency pop up until 6 days later, I fell outside of their 3 day cancelation window and they refused to work with me. Because they are interstate brokers, they cannot do local or in state moves (even though the BOL that they have you sign doesn't belong to them, it belongs to United Pro Movers which are able to do local moves). They could only offer me a credit for up to a year for the $900 I gave them, which wouldn't be of any use to me because I won't be moving to another state anytime soon. I also don't have family members moving between States that I could issue it to within the year.

They took my $900 and refuse to do the refund because the emergency came up 3 days after the refund window. I spoke to their customer service telling them that I needed that money in order to find a mover that could move me locally because I will not have a place to live in a month. They refused to issue a refund or be willing to use the money I had given them towards a company they said they would help me find that could do the move. I don't have an endless supply of cash to do this, therefore it was imperative that I have the money back to put towards someone who can help me. When we went through the inventory she left off computers and filing cabinets and quoted us for 50 medium boxes. She's a fast talker and made us feel as though we were getting all sorts of deals. We received a veteran/nurse/ and police discount. We turned down a number of services because of the price she quoted us, we were even told by other companies that if your company was a Broker to stay away.

I called and left a voicemail on Sheanna's Phone asking that question and never got a response. The other companies told us that this would happen the day of moving. We budgeted exactly the cost we were told by Sheanna and even spoke with her on Friday, March 3rd stating that we had our monies put away and asking how should we go about paying (VENMO, debit card, etc.) At no time were we informed that we now needed 2600 this week and 2600 when we get to TX.

I asked to speak with the manager and was told he was in a Zoom meeting. We responded that we could wait, but Kevin insinuated that he was busy and needed to get with other customers. Right before asking to speak with his manager Kevin, left to speak with him and came back with a little discount that still kept us in the 2000s. But then all of a sudden the manager became "busy". My quote with Derek M was great. Budget mattered greatly to our family as I am a stay at home mom so we shopped around. Luxury Van Lines came to pack our items and the man in charge told us upon arrival the cost would be over double our quote. I understood it was an estimate but I was accurate with our inventory. We had maybe 5 or 6 extra boxes, not double. They were careless with our items while disassembling and packing. The man in charge then told me that they used even more space than the double he already told me but he would do me a "favor" if we just tipped the men. We were already going to tip but he kept asking how much we were tipping and it felt like bullying at that point. When they left we discovered they left multiple items behind that were tagged. These items totaled well over $1,000 and because out our limited space in the car we had to get rid of them and have since had to replace those items.

I reached out to customer service with Safe Ship and they discussed with Luxury to adjust the price, Luxury then told me they would "discount" $200, and then $400 after I pushed further. This doesn't begin to cover the losses. They said this is all they would do as the estimates are "almost never accurate" and they collected "almost everything" on the inventory list. Unacceptable but at least we were getting something.

The delivery was a nightmare as well as the driver didn't have the updated amount from Luxury and it was a weekend when they weren't in office. He was rude and didn't want to accept the amount even when I showed him the email from luxury. He then tacked on extra fee for long haul carry even though the distance was less that 75 feet to our door. I could give so many more details with proof but the main point is find a different company. We paid nearly double our original estimate for an incomplete move and I had to fight for the small amount the adjusted. Unless budget is no concern whatsoever I imagine this happens a lot. We were bullied and lied to all along the way but we had a strict timeline and no other options. I think that they know you often have no other option but to accept the fees and get your move handled, you wouldn't book a moving company on a certain date if you had another choice. Don't let this happen to you.

ALMOST DOUBLE my estimate. 4K turned into 8K!

    2. As they're getting my stuff the guy in charge of the move comes up to me after they have 70% (Heavy extortion vibes) if not more of my stuff already and starts doing the paperwork. He then proceeds to let me know he needs to charge me $350ish extra for fees. FOR FEES! What fees you might ask? The fee for traveling more than 100 feet. These sorry jokers were pulled up right to my ELEVATOR. Sure as the crow flies it's longer than 100 feet; but these sorry jokers were not traveling themselves more than 100 feet.

    3. Finally the nail in the coffin. Our stuff gets to our destination place. They tell us they'll give us a 24hr heads up before they're there. They text us the day before at 10PM! Technically it was the day before by 2 hours. Sure whatever. What sprung this whole review though was these sorry jokers were RUDE TO MY WIFE. Y'all trippin'.

I waited to write this review to give Gin & Lou time to make things right but they ignored my complaints. We went through Safe Ship and settled for $6580.00 to move us from NM to VA. Movers came on a Saturday and immediately told me it would be $18,000.00. We had to move! Our house was sold and my husband who had just had a stroke couldn’t do much although he tried to get a UHaul truck and do it ourselves, we are in our 70’s. We couldn’t get a truck quick enough so we argued with Gin & Lou. They came down to $12,127.20 and we just had no choice. We had already packed so all they had to do was wrap the furniture and load up. They were to deliver in 2 weeks but told me they had 30 days.

When we got to VA we had to stay in a hotel, then finally bought mattresses and winter clothes and moved into an empty house. I called Gin & Lou numerous times and spoke to ‘Renee’ who kept telling me she was waiting ‘for a truck to come in’. After 8 weeks I was getting quite upset and then I got a call from Simple Movers in NJ telling me I had to wire them $$. The bank strongly advised not to wire money and so I purchased money orders at the post office, took pictures of them and sent them to ‘Corina’ at Simple Movers. The next day a UHaul truck with 2 nonEnglish speaking men came at MIDNIGHT. After giving them the money orders they unloaded.

We noticed the damaged goods and the two men were so afraid we were going to call the police because they said they were illegals, we communicated using translated on our phones. Furniture had been unwrapped wherever they were stored at. An antique cupboard came with 2 missing bottom doors and had been on hinges so they did NOT fall off! Another antique cupboard circa 1810 had legs sawed off!!! I have pictures to prove all this. A pie safe had two missing shelves and the top shelf was missing 1/2 board! My mother had given me a chair before she died and this is missing the cushion. It is not just any old cushion but made especially for this chair. Her bookcase which is well over 75 years old and had survived WWII and 3 trips over the Atlantic Ocean is damaged!! The top of my settle is damaged too! There are other items damaged.

I have complained and complained. I have pleaded for them to please find my 2 doors to the antique cupboard and was just told last week that I needed to file a claim first!!!! So you can’t look for the items until I file a claim??? I have been totally ignored by Gin & Lou, I guess they figured I would just go away, I hope they would do the honorable thing to do as a business but no contact from them. I will find a solution one way or another but please avoid these people and company!

I went with them because my friend told me how cheap they are. I got a quote and someone from Safe Ship told me that if any problems arose that I’d be able to text or call him directly. Unfortunately this guy ghosted me when the problems started, and I never heard from him despite texting and calling. When the first moving company arrived they tried to haggle me for an extra $2500 saying that my estimate was way over. After some back and forth the guy in charge told me to keep the original price he’d sell me a space and whatever I could fill in there.

I had to disassemble all of my furniture which they said they would and did not. And in order to prevent them from up charging me I hopped in the truck and started stacking everything to ensure it fit in the space. Sure enough- all of it fit. Or would have, once they saw that it was all going to fit they told me they were full despite the fact that I had more boxes and more room in the truck.

The safeship guys told me I’d pay 50/50 but he wanted 70% upfront. I ended up cutting him a check for that amount. The items were suppose to arrive the following week from what the safeship guys told me. We ended up waiting 3 weeks. During those weeks I got constant calls from the guy in charge telling me my check bounced after the money had been taken from my account. We went back and forth for weeks. Until finally I went up to my physical bank and put a banker on the phone with him.

When our things finally arrived there was minor damage on the furniture. A box had been crushed and retapped. And it all smelled as if it had been rained on. Before they started the second moving company told me I’d have to pay an extra $40 for reasons unknown. I paid it just to get it over with. They didn’t assemble anything. Do not go with them. You’ll be on your own and have to deal with 4 separate companies in your moving process. Very amateur run operation.

Let me start by saying, this was my first time using a moving company. Even though I provided Safe Ship with a detailed list of everything that would need moved, the space they reserved me on the truck wasn't enough, so I had to pay extra (~$850) on pick-up day to get more space. They also didn't tell me the pick-up/delivery would be contracted out to a small, independent moving company; this was something I found out on the day of pick-up.

I get that this is something stated on their website, but as a first-time user of these services, I would've liked to be told this when I signed a contract with them. I was also given a delivery window of 1-10 days when I signed. My stuff was picked up on 11/25/22 and that was the last I heard from the moving company until 12/14/22. I called, emailed, and texted the information provided to me at pick-up and nobody answered or returned my messages. I had to call Safe Ship directly, and even they couldn't provide me with information on my delivery.

When I was finally told my stuff would be delivered, it was day 15 (since they don't count weekends). At this point, I'd been sleeping on an air mattress for almost 3 weeks and had been eating PB&Js, pizza, and fast food since I didn't have dishes/kitchen supplies. I was told my things would be delivered 12/16/22 around 12p. I cancelled my plans with my mom, who was visiting from IL, so we could be around for the delivery. At 3 pm, I had to call because I hadn't heard anything, and I was told delivery would be pushed back to 6 pm. We ended up agreeing on an 8 pm delivery time due to an event I needed to attend.

By 9:45 pm, I still hadn't heard anything, so I called but nobody answered. I spoke with Safe Ship and they couldn't get in touch with the delivery driver either. My stuff was finally delivered on 12/17/22 around 9:30 am. Things were broken/unusable and needed replaced. For all of my troubles and their lack of communication, they gave me $100 off. $100 off a roughly $3000 move, which was more than I was quoted... super helpful. For what it's worth, Safe Ship tried to be helpful, but this experience was a 0/10. There was a serious lack of communication, they did not stick to the delivery window, they made me waste an entire day with my mom while we waited for a delivery that didn't happen, and the only time I received updates was when I reached out myself. I would not use them again.

Do NOT use Safe Ship. Learn from my horrible experience and find a different moving company. The initial quote seemed amazing and a representative helped me with it all over the phone. They said it was very rare for the price to go up upon pickup because they overestimated the space needed. Then after committing and paying a deposit we received a call a few days before pick up and guess what, the price had increased when we added “most commonly forgotten items”. This should be a list they go over with at the time of quote not 2 days before pick up. So we had to pay an additional deposit for the added space. It only gets worse from here.

Upon pick up they walked through and said it would all fit on the truck.. it did not, only half our stuff did. Long story short they had to make 2 trips and our price more than doubled from the original quote. To make matters worse, the customer service representatives are rude and unapologetic. We were told we could just leave our items there if we didn’t want to pay more. When I expressed my frustration to them for underestimating our space I was fed the same line over and over; “we can’t account for large and bulking items”. So even when you tell them exactly what you have to move which include large and bulky items (which I did) they do not account for the space on the truck.

The moving team that was sent to us had ZERO respect for our property and many items were damaged and broken including my 5 month old daughter’s crib that was literally shattered. They also delivered our second truck at 10pm at night. We had to make arrangements for myself and my two young daughters to sleep somewhere else because we were told they would not come back if we couldn’t accept our items at that time. The amount of disregard they have for you once they have your money is disgusting. I have no clue how they are rated the top moving broker. Save yourself the stress and your money and stay clear of this company.

Customer service reached out to me a couple days after this review posted and we were able to resolve some of my issues with my moving experience. Not everything I experienced was the fault of Safe Ship but they explained in more detail some of my issues and how they happened and got them resolved. Some issues I had with the actual moving company were also resolved to my satisfaction. I do really appreciate the effort shown by Safe Ship to reach out and make things right for me.

    Original Review: Jan. 10, 2023

First, Safe Ship is NOT a moving company, they are a broker. They will collect information regarding what you are moving and give you an estimate of cost. They will collect a deposit and tell you someone from quality control will call you 2-3 days prior to your move. When you get that call, they will go through the inventory you provided in the first call. Most likely they will ask new questions at this point and start adding up all the "extra" stuff you didn't mention before. All of a sudden you have a new quote and increased deposit. So now you have paid one non-refundable deposit and are being asked to pay more a few days before your big move, which is already very stressful. You are now faced with the decision to pay more and hope for the best or forfeit your earlier deposit and start over with little to no time left. They count on you paying. SO you do.

This is only the broker fees, the day of moving whoever they have coming to get your stuff will required their own payment, half before loading, half before unloading. And they will consistently try to add on extra charges, sometimes after your stuff is loaded or right before they unload. I was told this would not happen as the movers "worked for them", not accurate. Once the moving company has your stuff they will do what they want. Yes, Safe Ship can stop using them if they get too many complaints, but who knows. What this boils down to is hire a company who owns their own trucks and you are only dealing with them.

This broker company was nice and helpful in the beginning with a very chaotic, last minute (less than 2 months notice) cross country move. But when the day came, the movers they sent were nothing but problems. They walked into my 1 bedroom apartment and said that it was going to cost at least $7k more than the estimate. Looking back, I should have sent them away right then and there but hindsight is 20/20. They packed all of my things up and told me the day they would have my life delivered to me.

They were moving me across the country (literally one coast to the other) and when the day came to have everything delivered, I called late morning to ask for an approximate time of delivery and was met with nothing but cursing, yelling, and being called incompetent. I couldn't get a word in during the phone call because the man on the other line told me I was "making things up, the man doing your move has worked in this industry for 8 years and would never tell you your items are delivered today". By law, they do have 22 days to deliver however I was told an earlier day. And this could have easily been explained to me calmly, rather than calling me stupid and incompetent. This man used those words verbatim.

I asked to speak with his supervisor multiple times and he continued to curse at me. Eventually, after threatening to call the police, I was able to get an answer out of someone else that there was a miscommunication in the delivery date. This person gave me a new date and I thought things were going to be fine. Spoiler alert, they were not.

They were constantly texting me with new delivery dates and then blaming me when questioned as to why the date was changing. For example, the date changed from Thursday to Friday and I asked why it was changing (again) and the response was "we didn't drive all night because you said you would not be home until the afternoon".

When they finally arrived with my stuff, they refused to unload until they were Venmoed $1k. And when I said that I was already paying over $7k more than the estimate, they threatened to keep all of my items and drive away. When I threatened to call the police, they began to unload but very threateningly said I better Venmo them more money "or else".

They were also supposed to put my couch and bed together. The $1500 custom-made couch is now broken thanks to the "efforts" of them attempting to put it together. And they lost a piece of my bed and argued with me that it never existed (I literally showed them the IKEA instructions and they again called me incompetent).

These people swore at me, said ** you multiple times, and threatened to keep my stuff on multiple occasions. This was hands down the absolute worst experience. But it doesn't end there.

The following day, I was traveling for work and on my way to a different state. These men showed up at my new apartment complex and claimed to be my driving service and demanded to the concierge to be let up to my apartment. Luckily, my building has a security policy that no one can be let up without contacting the tenant and because I was on a plane flying out of state and couldn't answer my phone, they were not allowed up. The wore hats and sunglasses to hide from the security cameras and refused to give the concierges their names. They gave him a hard time until he threatened to call the police and they left.

Because of this, we had to change all the security codes and locks to the building. I attempted to call the broker company multiple times and was met with ignored phone calls and no call backs. DO NOT USE THEM. They made me fear for my safety in a building where it takes me four 6 digit codes and a key to get to my unit. And these SCAMMERS did this knowing I work and have good friends in law enforcement and federal agencies. Imagine what they would do to someone who doesn't have those connections.

I wanted to move this week but I'm going off my move for a few weeks until I recover. Yesterday was the fourth day in a row where I just slept all day and barely had the energy to get out of bed. Since I have been bed ridden all week, I came to the easy conclusion that it will be practically impossible for me to do any moving alone. I told my neighbor that I really don't know what to do because I don't have the energy to lift my belongings. My neighbor told me that I can contact a shipping broker. I was confused at first, but he explained to me that the broker will find a moving company in my state, and they will transport the contents of my house to any state in the country and that if I pay extra they can even have the movers pack and wrap all of my stuff.

I called the number on their website and spoke to one of their reps. The rep explained to me all they have to offer and that the company even offers free 30 day storage. After I finished the booking process with Safe Ship, I booked my flight to Arizona. I haven't found a place to rent yet. I am feeling better so I decided to treat myself until I find a place to live so I rented a hotel room in downtown Tucson that I will be staying in until I found a home. I had the moving company {dont remember their name} place my belongings in a storage facility. I inspected all of my furniture and precious items. One dresser was chipped, but that was the only damage any of my 8 furniture items incurred. Considering how I moved 700 miles away, I still say they did an amazing job moving my stuff. Movers texted that pickup would be 11/3 between 1000-1400. They message the morning of 11/2 saying they are on their way (of course we weren't packed and ready) and eventually we had to settle for a pickup of 11/3 at 0800. Then come to 11/5 and they inform us that delivery would be in 2-4 days--which we made peace with.

I called customer service and asked them to reach out to the movers and now they estimate a delivery between 5-6 days instead and if we wanted it a day or two earlier--like we were told after having delivery date moved once already, it would cost an additional $1500--on top of the around $50 worth of surcharges when it came to packing some items on pickup date. No reimbursement or even an apology was provided regarding this extreme inconvenience that stemmed from the fact that we were told these specific dates in the first place. If they were honest regarding delivery dates, it would have been no problem and we could have looked for a different moving company. I strongly suggest using a different moving company. I am very likely to move again in the future and it will most certainly not be through Safe Ship. You couldn't pay me to hire them again.

They did nothing but botch things up, charge me $1400 to do that, and then told me they could not find my goods - just said they would be delivered 1-3 weeks after expected pick up date, which they had down as a month prior to the actual date. SO DISHEARTENING AND FRUSTRATING. I FEEL LIED TO AND CHEATED. STAY AWAY!!

The quotation was fairly accurate, the service and communication were excellent, and the pick-up and drop-off were prompt and on schedule. We appreciate the careful treatment of our belongings, timely delivery of everything, and a charming attitude. We appreciate the considerate responses to all of our inquiries. My move from MT to CA, with the assistance of others, went without a hitch. It took them less than two weeks to deliver my items which had been packed carefully and arrived here without damage. Communication was never an issue. Would do business with them again! A minor inconvenience was that some boxes were missing an identification sticker. Would do business with them again! Nothing was lost but something to improve on since it is easier for me to track boxes if they each have an id.

Man moving stinks, good thing I found a company like Safe Ship to help me. I'm having issues with the plumbing in my house, and I called a plumber to investigate the issues I was having and he says we need new pipes underground and inside the house and the repairs will cost at least $27,000. So I came to the easy conclusion to sell my house as is. I was referred to safe ship by a new neighbor and he gave me a walk through of his new house and I noticed how his place already looked fully furnished as if someone have been living there for sometime. And he told me about the moving company he hired and how they helped assemble all of his furniture when they arrived to drop his stuff off.

I'm getting old now, I'm 57. So I hired this company, and they packed all my ** up. and promised to deliver within 10 business days. I received my stuff 7 days later and after the team unloaded the boxes into the corresponding rooms that they belong to, they assembled my tables, and installed wall mounts and also mounted my tvs in the kitchen and living rooms.
