We moved our belongings from Australia to the United States. The Crown team we initially dealt with were helpful, friendly, and professional—but unfortunately, that is where the quality ended. Almost every part of the move was outsourced to subcontractors. On moving day, we were quoted a packing team to arrive first, followed by a moving team. The packing team never showed up. Instead, only two movers arrived, wearing Grace uniforms rather than Crown’s.

These movers did not bring the packing supplies we had paid for, including specialized materials for artwork and glassware. One of the movers appeared to have little to no packing experience. For example, he wrapped our wine glasses in a single sheet of paper, placed them sideways at the bottom of a box, and stacked items on top. I had to stop him, and even then, he refused to repack the box properly. Our canvas artwork was wrapped in a single layer of plastic only. I took photos and immediately contacted Crown. Crown refunded part of the cost and claimed they sent someone out to repack the boxes. That never happened—nothing was repacked. Once our shipment left, it became a waiting game.

Our shipment was flagged for secondary customs inspection, which we understand is outside the shipper’s control. What was within their control was communication—and that was extremely poor. We had to repeatedly chase updates by calling and emailing Schumacher, the local agent. Crown would respond promptly to our emails, saying they would look into it, but we would never hear back unless I sent another follow‑up email the next week. Schumacher repeatedly sent the same canned response saying they were “working on it” and would provide a date. This went on for two months.

Eventually, we received a text saying our belongings would arrive in one to two days. We coordinated directly with the truck drivers, who were professional and helpful when they arrived. However, our belongings were in very poor condition. Even the delivery team commented multiple times on how badly Grace had packed our items. Some highlights of the damage:

Our King Furniture leather couch was severely damaged because the packing team taped plastic directly to the leather. When the tape was removed, it pulled off the top layer of leather.

Most of our glassware and ceramic items were broken, confirming that nothing had been repacked. The boxes matched the photos I originally took.

Our high‑end Tasmanian Oak entertainment center was damaged. It was supposed to be protected with cardboard and multiple layers of wrap but had only one thin layer. I would have stopped this at the time, but everything happened while I was trying to prevent further damage to our glassware.

Between us and the Schumacher delivery team, over 90 photos were taken documenting the damage. Here is the almost comical part. The person I had been in communication Schumacher for almost two months. Send me an email 12 hours after our stuff arrived stating we should expect to receive our items within the next two days. I contacted Crown to give them the opportunity to resolve this through the insurance we paid for. It has now been two weeks, with multiple emails and phone calls, and we have received no response. Once our belongings arrived, it feels like Crown completely ghosted us. We have included a small sample of photos to show the condition of our stuff.

I cannot endorse the services provided by Crown WMS based on my personal experience. My dissatisfaction is not borne out of animosity towards the company, but rather stems from my own encounter with their services. I engaged their services for a move on September 22nd, 2023. Leading up to the move, my interactions with a lady named C. from Crown WMS were pleasant and helpful. We were relocating within the same building, moving from a 2-bedroom unit on the 5th floor to another 2-bedroom unit on the 4th floor, which entailed transporting 80 boxes and furniture.

On the morning of the 22nd, three movers arrived at 9 AM and left at 3 PM. The issues arose when they found themselves ill-equipped to disassemble our bed, necessitating my intervention and costing us valuable time. The same scenario played out with our fridge, which required me to disassemble the door. The movers eventually completed the move, and I generously tipped them for their efforts. Later that same day, I had to depart on a work trip, returning on September 28th. Upon attempting to sleep in our new place, I discovered that our bed felt unstable, swaying like a boat. Upon closer inspection, it became apparent that the central railing was missing.

On September 29th, I promptly reached out to the main mover, A., and contacted my liaison at Crown WMS, C. A. responded with a text stating, "Everything should be there; we took everything apart and put it back where it should be." I informed him that this was not the case, but he did not offer further response. I patiently waited for another week, hoping for a resolution or response from either party, but none was forthcoming.

This lack of communication is disconcerting, especially considering that A. and his team misplaced a critical component during the move and failed to disclose it when reassembling the bed. One would assume that handling king-size beds during moves falls well within their realm of expertise. However, their apparent indifference regarding the missing central rail, despite the presence of wooden support pieces on each side of the bed, suggests a preference for concealing their error rather than addressing it honestly.

Consequently, I had to purchase a replacement central rail from Restoration Hardware and shared a photograph with them to illustrate the baffling nature of misplacing such a long and straightforward component during a move from the 5th to the 4th floor. The $150 tip I gave them was undeserved, given their lack of transparency and honesty.

Additionally, I incurred expenses for a box that was never used for the king-size mattress and additional charges for boxing and unboxing services that were not performed. Furthermore, I had to spend $160 on acquiring a replacement central rail and foot that Crown WMS had lost. It's worth noting the time I invested in disassembling my own bed and removing the fridge door due to the movers lacking the necessary tools. In an attempt to seek resolution, I reached out to my contact at Crown WMS, C, once more on October 6th. Regrettably, I have received no response from them since that date.

We used Crown to move from London to Atlanta. We chose them despite being one of the more expensive quotes as they promised they could have the move complete in 2-4 weeks on an expedited service. The issues started the day they arrived to pack our house. Despite paying for a 20ft shipping container they arrived with a 720ft truck and therefore everything they needed to pack wouldn't fit. They grossly underestimated how much packing space we needed meaning we had to leave a lot of furniture behind so that it would all fit and to avoid further costs.

We moved out of our house a week early and paid for an AirBnB in London so the ship could get ahead of us only to be told the day after they had collected our stuff that it wouldn't even be on the ship for 23 days. They then tried to charge us a port storage fee which we have refused to pay and they are now suggesting legal action against us despite the 4 week delivery promise.

Communication from them was awful throughout. We had 3 separate move managers and we were told later that we should have never been told 4 weeks was realistic. Eventually, our stuff did arrive in Atlanta but for our belongings to be released from the train station to the moving company at this end we have to pay a $1500 fee which we were never informed of. Eventually, our stuff did arrive at the house. Several items broken and initially, they would not put back together the furniture they took apart. They since returned to build them but now want another fee for having done this which I will not pay. On the whole, dire. I would give zero stars. DO NOT USE.

By far the worst moving experience. We moved from the NL to the US. We were charged more after our boxes were packed and taken away. We were not given the option to reduce our volume. The movers used boxes from our recycling that were not designed for an international move. Every box - new or recycled - was damaged in transit. Irreplaceable items were 'lost'. We moved so much air since many of the boxes were left half empty (hence the reason that so many were crushed in transit with items inside damaged).

Our move manager lied to us about where our boxes were (said they hadn't arrived in the US after we had already been asked to pay extra to get them out of US customs) and sent extremely unprofessional emails. We were told upon arrival that if we unpacked them ourselves (given the damaged and missing items to document, this took a few days), the movers would return for the packing materials. Crown initially tried to charge us more for this service even though it was they were at fault and their contracted movers said that it would be done for no extra cost.

I would give zero stars if I could. Paid them an exorbitant $12500 to move our life from NZ to UK. It has been over 3 months since they picked up the container and absolutely no further progress. They told me at one stage they had a booking, then they backtracked and said nobody can get any bookings. It's a cube; how hard can it be to book space on a ship. They are now telling us that prices have gone up and we owe them another $1500 - for what? They have done nothing as far as I'm concerned, and they simply don't care to do anything. Can't get any sense out of them at all. My advice if you're looking for a shipping company - look elsewhere.

I used Crown believing them to be an international co with good service. However my experience has been terrible. Last minute charges that were clearly part of the contracted service and furniture held to random - payment due within 24 hours of notification or no delivery. Appalling response from customer service team in Auckland/they just don’t care and now I’m concerned about whether my goods will arrive in one piece.

Moved from South Africa to Doha. Air freight incomplete at arrival (missing documents and other items). No back up, no explanation, no research done by Crown. Unexisting service. With sea freight we had more missing and badly damaged items. Some of them not even appearing on our packing list, therefore impossible to have it reimbursed (all my CD collections was missing, no trace of it on the packing list, outrageous!). I did a detailed research of how and when things have gone wrong. Despite having spent days to connect the dots, and doing the work that Crown should have done, it took months for them to get back to me, after many mails, with no help, no apologies, no solution. Departure date from SA to Doha was wrong. Arrival into Doha as well. We did not have any temporary storing space because of this mistake. So another stressful event.

While doing my own research I heard from house personnel that the crew was drinking while packing my stuff (I am asking myself if missing objects on my packing list have been done on purpose, or just because crew was presumably drunk), In my opinion it is really outrageous that this company is still allowed to work. I have never been reimbursed for the missing and damaged items. Means I paid an insurance for nothing, and of top of it, incurred on high costs of replacing/repairs. Crown kept hiding from my mails, my phone calls. I believe I said enough to make you understand in which dangers you can occur by using Crown relocation. Good luck with finding a suitable and reliable moving company!

We selected Crown as they were an international company for our move from France to Australia, and paid a substantial price premium for the privilege. On the French side, things seemed to run relatively smoothly, although we did subsequently discover some strange packing choices. Everything was marketed as "Books", "Linens" or "Houseware", which caused massive confusion at the other end. What the decision to disassemble, or not, was also a mystery. We had two identical beds. One was broken down into about 200 pieces and the other ones shipped whole.

At the arrival end, it was a disaster. They initially showed up with a container that had other people's stuff in it. The first question the foreman asked was how little we wanted unpacked (we had paid for a full unpack) as they had another job to get to. Because of the bad labelling of boxes, we had to open every box before telling them where to position it, which for some reason was our fault (in subsequent correspondence we were told we could not make up our minds as to where to put stuff which created extra work for the crew. No wonder as we could not tell what had been packed.

Certain things that had been disassembled could not be reassembled by the crew, but Crown very kindly offered to arrange a handyman to come to do it for us, $300 per hour for a minimum of 3 hours, at OUR cost to fix what they disassembled. Needless to say we declined, with the result that certain items had to be marked as broken and thrown away. We had several interactions with them afterwards and when I wrote a letter to the company to summarise what had happened, they basically responded with a series of lies - including how long, and how many agents, they had on-site, which was vastly overstated.

In addition, we had (to be honest) a small amount of breakages and damages. But getting compensation for this, even though we had bought their very costly insurance, was a battle, involving multiple emails, forms and constant follow up. It was if they thought that we would give up and forget about it. Once things started to go wrong, customer service went out the window. So don't confuse their slick sales process with what you will experience once you have paid your money. My advice - go elsewhere!

I asked Crown to take care of my moving from London to Singapore and I have been extremely disappointed for below reasons:

      - I had to send several emails to make them work on my quote, edit it. I was the one who was moving forward to make things done.
      - Expensive quote compared to others without any quality reasons based on below comments.
      - They asked another provider White company to take care of my moving without letting me know... Meaning the day of the pick up, I had to open my door to a company I've never heard of.

      - White company's delivery wasn't good. They didn't have any cutter to open my boxes. So they didn't take any empty boxes. I had a bike they dismantled they haven't been able to reassemble because of above reason.

I used Crown when I moved from Singapore to London and it was good but for this moving service was terrible. I will never use Crown again. Don't recommend it

My experience was with the Crown Relocations office in California in the Southbay. The office was unprofessional, unorganized and rude. I needed to move my household internationally and it took them forever ( while all my things were in storage) to get everything ready. They tried double charging me and overcharging me. I asked several times to Dianne that works there to please let me me know ASAP when we could start the move. She ignored my emails and let 6 weeks go by until I went over her head and had her boss take over. SHE STILL tried to overcharge me and charge me with WEIGHT of the cargo AFTER I removed more than half the items that were not going on the cargo. My things were packed horribly and there were NO apologies. As of today, 6 months later, we have to remind them to stop charging our credit card for storage. Please don't use them. NIGHTMARE.
