The servers for vnet.net haven't been fully fixed yet. It's been going on for a long time and for awhile the service techs did have the issue working better and assured me it would return to normal. But it hasn't. It's still better than it was before. What happens is I open the email client, in my case I use Thunderbird. It takes at least two attempts to get my emails with the client usually returning a message to Retry, Use a new password, etc. It's the same message every time. Usually after a few tries or a few minutes I'll get through simply by pressing Retry.

The service tech who originally I spoke to about this problem concluded that probably the most efficient solution would be to change my email. He said the vnet servers aren't updated regularly and it will take them some time to totally fix the problem. Vnet was acquired, I believe, when CTC (Concord Telephone) was the owner of the service. Otherwise I would rate my experience at 5 stars. Surely the best option in town!

We live out in the country a little bit, and AT&T U-verse just wasn't cutting it. Our neighbor got Kinetic when they put the stuff out there and he liked it. I gave it a shot, and we're very pleased. My experience with the Kinetic rep was good. He was from Sweden. He talked fast, like a used car salesman, but he was informative. He had to stop and repeat himself three or four times. The guy who came and put it in was just as helpful as he could be. And every time I've had to call the office, they're very courteous and helpful. They take care of whatever the issue is expeditiously. So it's all good. The quality of the internet is great. A lot faster than AT&T U-verse.

I know many commenters complain about Windstream-Kinetic. I rarely did. While I always thought their pricing far exceeded the slow DSL speeds I was getting, I always knew I was too far from the nearest station, and nothing comparable was in my price range. The one thing I could never complain about was their service. They showed up when they said they would and almost always got my Internet up and running. I told Windstream when I ended my service with them if they ever got fiber, please let me know. As Verizon Business and T-Mobile WiFi extended their service into my area, I tried each of them. The former never equaled the later. But in February 2026, everything change.

A Windstream representative knocked on my door, asked if I wanted fiber. When are you planning to install it, I asked. "How about tomorrow?" When he told me it would be $49.99 a month for 1G fiber with a 3-year premium lock, I said yes. When he asked who my mobile provider was, I told him. He said with that company, I would receive a $20 month discount. I never expect much from that company, so I took advantage of that offer, too! And the next day, the tech came up and hooked me up. I have never been happier with the Internet as I am now.

I've known about Kinetic since it was Windstream. It's been a long time that I've had it. The workers who did the installation did a good job. They were quick. In general, Kinetic is a decent company. It's not too bad to do business with them. Their reliability is at about 80%. There are a lot of down days for storms or maintenance. When it's working, it works great. For the most part, it's good Fiber internet. In the past, there's been a lot of issues, but right now, the speed and the latency seem good. The promotional prices are good. The monthly prices are sometimes a little bit high.

I had Kinetic (windstream) years ago and the service wasn’t great, so I stuck with cable Spectrum (used to be time Warner) for years and had TONS of issues with their service first cause their awful routers would only give me wireless to about 2 rooms and 2nd my slow/intermittent service issue cause they never wanted to have maintenance come out and address issues at the pole and install new taps. 2026 kinetic hits me with an offer I couldn’t refuse. 1gig for $24 a month. Their internet is fast and reliable not like years ago and their router also solved my coverage issue, I can walk to neighbors and still get wireless. Spectrum has cold called me trying to get me back and literally doesn’t believe me when I tell them the deal I’m getting through windstream, like they’re irritated and accusatory. Friggen gaslighting me like I’m making it all up. It’s hilarious lol.

I liked Kinetic's reliability. However, for it being Fiber internet, it always went out and I didn't understand that. Everything's buried on the ground, so I don't understand how not having a network reset all the time. On top of weather situations, there were situations when there was no reason for it to blip. The only reason it would frustrate me all the time is my cameras are always connected to the WiFi. And I work during the day. I would have to wait until I come home 4:00 or 5:00 in the afternoon to reset the router and it would be fine. Be ready to reset your routers. Don't have a camera system fully reliant on internet.

      Response from Kinetic

HI Brian! Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m glad to hear you appreciated the reliability at times, but I’m sorry for the ongoing frustration you had with the service dropping and the repeated need to reset your router, especially when your cameras depended on a stable connection while you were away from home. I understand how inconvenient and concerning that would be, particularly when outages seemed to happen without a clear reason. I’d like the opportunity to look into this further and review your service concerns in more detail. Please email me at uniticanhelp@uniti.com with “Consumer Affairs Review” in the subject line and include your full name and account information so I can investigate and reach out to you directly.

The quality of the internet is great. Their technicians are good, although sometimes it takes one to three days for them to get out here. But in the five years we've been with them, we've only had them twice. We've had good luck with Kinetic. I’m glad I'm staying with them.

My experience with Kinetic has been cool. I got to meet a couple of the guys who were working on it, and I talked to them and learned a little bit about it. Their fiber optics keeps their service reliable. It keeps high speeds longer. It just doesn't jump for a second. It stays at high speeds. I like their price too. They have a good product and good service.
