Please do not get Viasat!! Terrible customer service. No shows on appts and outages over a month with no credit to account. Rude staff and shady service people. Do not buy this service!!! They are liars and the service is spotty at best.

DO NOT BUY THEIR SERVICE. Had the worst experience with the service since day one. Constant buffering sometimes three times per minute. Screen is fuzzy. Worst ever. I will be filing a case with BBB because they have a cancelation fee of another $140. This is not right.

Unreliable service and horrible customer service! I have never dealt with such an ignorant customer service. They refused to speak with me about billing issues, unless I paid them. I paid Jan 3rd again Jan 21 and February 3rd. They terminated my service February 8th. And they still say I owe them! I lost service several times daily if it rained. The dish thing was placed right outside my window. Big eye sore. I would not recommend this company, unless you like paying for a service that doesn’t work 1/3 of the time. Even one star is too much! Horrible experience with this service! And customer support.

Viasat is garbage. You might as well put a turd in orbit. Starlink is WAY better. I was paying $330 for top-tier viatrash service. The performance was pathetic. Couldn't work from home ever. Now I'm on Starlink for $120 a month and see downloads of OVER 400 mbps.

This service sucks and their prices is so high. It doesn't make no sense I still have to pay a bill 160 for 6 months after I have turned off their service and give their equipment back. They need to do better.

This is the WORST internet you could get. Not only did it go out constantly but they RIP you off!! I signed up a few years ago thinking it would be better than Hughesnet but I’d rather have no internet than Viasat! They charge a ridiculous amount for a VERY limited amount of data. I got Viasat then plugged in my son’s x box and within minutes I ran out of data because his x box needed updating. I called Visat and they said, "Sorry. You used all your data," and explained to me it was because of the update his x box needed. So of course I purchased more data. Spent over 240$ my first month and still ran out of data midway!
Used them for idk a year or so. It always cut out even from a little wind. Then when I was able to get fiber at home I called them immediately to cancel. I talked to the lady who couldn’t speak proper English and said that I’d like to cancel but who could understand that she said the cancellation department was closed on a Wednesday in the middle of the day! I told her just to make sure I was canceled. Apparently I was supposed to call back on another day to cancel so when I received an email stating the payment would be withdrawn I called immediately and said what’s going on. Well because I didn’t call back and cancel they were going to pull the payment from my account so I stopped payment.
My original bill was 90$ for 80 gig's pretty ridiculous. BUT they charged me 250$ for one month of service that I didn’t even use! I was already hooked up to fiber!! So they lied about being able to cancel me, overcharged me and then sued me for the money! DO NOT PURCHASE FROM VIASAT unless you want crappy internet for way too much money and heaven forbid you try to cancel because they will be closed! Oh ya did I mention this happened to someone else I know! Yes the department where you cancel is always closed! They got him too.

Nothing good to say about Viasat! I just finally got a fast internet in my area so I canceled them. I have had them for over 3 years and the internet was very slow, couldn't even watch a movie without it buffering. I spoke to a person that I couldn't understand. Please give me someone that speaks understandable ENGLISH. Apparently my month started on the 16th, today is the 17th, and they said I have to pay a whole month. That's BS. I have already disconnected the dish. They do not care!!!! Absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND!

The only reason I give it 2 stars is because in some rural places there are no other options so...better than nothing. My real complaint is in ending service. Instead of sending someone out to collect their equipment they require you to crawl up to the satellite dish to disconnect a box from it and send that, along with the other required equipment boxed and sent to them via mail. AND that big, ugly dish? "Oh - we don't come get that, that's yours." Really? Now there are two abandoned dishes, one on the side of the house and one on the roof, just sticking out there like a sore thumb. People, please, come get your own equipment. Aside from that, the service is expensive and unreliable.

Viasat is nothing but thieves, all they want is your money however they can get it. I canceled my service because it wasnt worth it, if it rained we didnt have wifi, if the sun wasn't in the right position sticking ng its tongue out, we would lose connection so we switched to a MUCH BETTER AND CHEAPER service, the cons they hire will try to convince you to stay after you repeatedly try to cancel and then they make you pay an extra month to cancel (gotta keep the lights on some how I guess) then will claim they didnt get their equipment back and use your bank information that they illegally obtain to charge you EVEN MORE MONEY! I wish I never would've done business with these shady people. Putting them on fraud alert with my bank so they can't try to take more of my hard earned money.

They are one of the worst providers out there. They sold my dad & mom on ‘unlimited internet.’ then after a few weeks, our internet started getting slow, and the lady on the phone (who we could barely understand) goes: "Oh you exceeded your data cap. You don’t have unlimited." EVEN THOUGH THE GUY WHO CAME BY SAID WE DID?? Their service is terrible. They say their ping is between 100 and up, we get a 600 and up. One of the worst internet providers. Don’t waste your money.

Viasat is horrible. Do not sign up for this service. We had Viasat for 5 years and in the beginning they were pretty easy to deal with and service wasn't terrible. Over time, however, the service became unreliable and went down a lot. Also, their customer service became a complete headache. They convinced me to pay the extra few dollars a month for Easy Care which if you look on their website it says it covers required service calls ($95) and again, in the beginning, they honored it but eventually when we'd call for poor service they'd "reset your router" and after that didn't work, they'd say they dish may have moved and needs to be reset but "that" service call isn't covered by Easy Care plan and would be $95.
When I cancelled service they wanted me (elderly) to go on roof and take down dish and send it back. I told them I could not physically do that but it should be covered by Easy Care since it's "required" to send back the equipment but they said "no" that is not an Easy Care "required" service and I'd have to pay $95 to get it taken down. In essence, they want to charge me $95 to give them back their antenna. I'm more than happy to give them their equipment but I am not paying to do it. Meanwhile, I cancelled my service on due date but they say that was "too late" and want me to pay for a month of service that I did not get and did not use. Now they are billing me $500 for equipment, which they can come get, and a month's worth of service I did not use and had cancelled. If you try to escalate it, you get told the same thing at every level which is, you have to pay. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE.

Paying for service, not good quality service. The video quality is garbage. They sent an email stating they were improving video but what they did is set the default to better quality and when that happened it used more GB's which came out of the customers data allowance. Even trying to use the computer settings to gain a better quality doesn't work. I was told that my allowance would last into the next month, my time starts in the middle of the month but I barely get 10 days before I lose the ability to watch movies. They offer unlimited for a higher price but I don't know what their definition of unlimited is considering what I was told about how long my allowance would last. There is no way I would sign another contract to find out. I lose connection for no reason. Lost it for 8 hours one night. Lose it on clear days, clear nights and the equipment while the connection light says I'm connected, I'm not. I have to reboot the equipment.
If I had know this was related to Wildblue I never would have got it,. That company if I remember right, I had to reach 70% before I could regain internet use after I used up all my allowance, that took a few days with no internet at all. This isn't so much a bad company as it is a bad mindset. Deceit, unreliability, no quality, no credibility. Crappy products come from crappy companies and crappy companies come from crappy people. I recommended this to someone but had to unrecommend, I just can't do that anybody.

Viasat is the worst internet provider anywhere. My service has always been mediocre at best, now it's horrible. I have waited 22 days so far for a service call to my home with no available appointments. My internet goes out for a minimum of 2 hours every single day and they will only knock $16 off my bill. I am turning them in to the Better Business Bureau. For one thing I am paying for a service that I am not receiving, so that is theft of service. Definitely looking for a new provider. Sick of their lies and crooked Business practices.

As you can see from most of the other reviews, Viasat is barely a better-than-nothing option for rural areas. We tried Hughes Net as well and it was horrible, so we put up with Viasat for years; expensive service for dismal bandwidth on the internet, endless buffering, super slow internet that sometime we could not even open an email - forget about watching a movie...., and bad phone connection often.
Whenever we called them about outages, or service nowhere near what they had promised, people answered the phone who barely spoke English, so it was really hard to understand them and usually it took forever, with minimal results - we finally gave up since it was not worth the headache. We finally decided to switch over to Starlink.
Getting things sorted with Starlink and by the time we had a Starlink installer came out to our place to find the correct place for the dish, our Viasat had already renewed. I figured since you pay in advance and service had not been provided, they would at least refund something; no such luck, even though it was 20 days from renewal date.
Glad to have read the reviews, so we can block our CCard since I want nothing to do with these people. When we talked with Customer service and even talked to one of the managers, they were civil enough but completely uncompromising. They even had the nerve to tell us that we would not be charged for an additional month beyond the one we just cancelled (20 days of no service from them but paying for it...) I guess they thought that would be reassuring and after reading other people's reviews, I guess it is...If I ever have a choice, Viasat would be last on my list, along with Hughes!!

Viasat it's one of the worst companies I've ever done business with. We as consumers in a capitalist country need to stop allowing businesses with horrible services/products to steal our money and prosper in this country. Viasat never works!! I get better internet running the Hotspot on a phone with a Walmart service plan (I pay a third of the price for that plan). Can't run two TV sets in the house without connection issues. This company deserves to go bankrupt. I wish I could give zero stars. They make you pay for other people to use your data. They literally say in their policy they reserve the right to prioritize the customers of their choosing during high traffic. What's the point in having an unlimited plan for? Down with these loser companies that wanna ride the financial coattails of hardworking Americans. Viasat=Garbage.

I know why they have bad reviews. I think they would have zero stars if you could do that. The service itself is absolutely awful. we are rural so had to do something but it drops service ALL the time. Their customer service isn't any better. I called to disconnect because we are moving and was told you can't disconnect till the next billing cycle. What a crock of you know what. I got nervous cause when you call in it says they have a zero tolerance for being rude to them is that cause you are trying to rip people off. If I would have called earlier we would have been turned off 2 weeks before we move out, I have never heard of anything like this before and I certainly don't like being take advantage of!!!! Super irritated to say the least. Now the boxes to return stuff will come here after we leave, what a complete joke this company is!!!

Worst customer service I’ve experienced. I pay over $127 a month and the service doesn’t work. Half the time when I call in I get NO help. It’s frustrating. I keep getting told I will get a credit on my bill once the service is up and working, but yet they can never give me a date for when a tech will be out to fix it yet. They’re still billing me my normal monthly bill.

Reviewed Dec. 26, 2025
I would give them a zero if I could, but there is no option for that. I canceled service the beginning of the billing cycle and they won’t cancel my service till the end of the next billing cycle so they can charge me for a whole month. Their service is terrible. You constantly are losing it. The speeds are very slow. You can stream about three movies a month before they tell you, you’ve used up your data no matter what plan you’re supposed to be on. Upon installation, they made a huge hole in my wall in which they sent at least five different technicians out to fix each one said, "I’ve got to go to the hardware store. I’ll be back" and never came back so the problem was never fixed. I had to do it myself which cost me money. They also want you to climb up on your roof and take the eye off your dish to send it back to him or they’ll charge you $300 for Equipment. My husband and I are both seniors and climbing on the roof is not an option.
I could pay one of their technicians and $95 to come out and do it. Either way this is the worst company I have ever had to deal with. So glad I found a new service. Extremely fast speeds ownloading and uploading. No cap on data usage. One set price. No equipment rentals. These people don’t even speak English when you call them. It’s a call center overseas. Don’t waste your time or your money. Find a better company. There’s plenty of them out there that were great in rural areas.

I really wish that I would have read a lot of these reviews. Before I had Viasat installed their satellite dish, they told me because the only thing that I used the satellite for is internet for streaming shows on my TV and they told me I would have enough internet to stream my shows which was a bald-faced lie and 2 weeks into or less than 2 weeks into my service. It stopped running and when I called to let them know, I told them this isn't going to work. I need to disconnect because it's not working for what I originally had it installed for. They told me that they were going to charge me x amount of dollars. You know, for early termination, which I still don't think is right. In my opinion, for service that I didn't even receive.
We couldn't watch TV for 2 weeks and yet they want to charge me $400 and some dollar service I never even received because I early terminated because they lied to me and said that it would work when it didn't. My late husband taught me to read reviews and I missed this one because if I would have read some of the reviews before I had the service installed, I probably never would have had them installed. It being said, they're such a shady company.

I had Viasat for 3 years because there was no other service in my area. This was the worst I ever had. The internet was slow but that was not the worst of it. When I canceled viasat they sent a box to return equipment. I sent everything back which just barely fit in the box. Well they charged my acct. the next month because I didn't send back the dish which was on top of my roof. I disputed the charge, I said they put the dish on the roof without my knowing and I had no contract and at 70 years old I could not get on the roof to take it down. The credit card company agreed and reversed the charge. Then Viasat sent it to collections. I told collections the situation and they agreed and said I could send a letter and they would cease notices. Now I am going to the BBB and put in a complaint.

The salesman who got me to switch my family's internet needs misled me into believing they offered all the internet needs i explained my family's needs were. As early as the first month I was calling to complain about the speed and data restrictions. I continued my service for 6 months, giving them the benefit of the doubt. Even after switching to a business account that cost a lot more, their services didn't cover our work, gaming, and streaming needs.
When I called to cancel they tried to tell me I was in a contract and had 10 months left. Even when the salesman told me it would be month to month. I told the Representative I was arguing with I wanted to speak to a supervisor. After arguing with him and telling him I was on a month to month service plan. He still tried to tell me I had a contract. But eventually agreed I could cancel and send back their equipment. He however wouldn't ship me the return packaging until 12/23 when I requested my services be canceled in 12/14. They are very shady and their internet is slow, limited and to expensive for what they offer. Save your time, money and effort and don't even bother using this internet service.

I had Viasat for 5 years until fiber optic cable was finally brought out here to my rural home. I didn't have any problems other than if the weather was bad it would knock out service. It also was a bummer if I went past my allotted data as it really slowed it down. However, my real complaint comes from trying to end service with them. The new company came out to hook up my fiber optic on the 8th of the month. I called on the 9th to cancel with Viasat. They said my payment had just processed on the 8th (what bad luck) and they do not prorate.
Furthermore they stated their policy is you must cancel a day before your bill is due. So I have to pay for an entire month of service I will not be using because I missed the time to cancel by essentially little more than a day. I didn't even know when the payment date was because it is all autopay, but regardless, what a crummy way to treat a long time customer. I even talked to a supervisor and he just said sorry about that, you can keep using the internet until next month when we disconnect you. Why would I need 2 internet plans going at once? I told him I had always recommended Viasat if someone lived in an area where getting the internet signal was really difficult, but this experience has made me sure to never recommend them.
