Viasat needs to be sued for slow speeds, and all trch support says is to reboot your modem. We pay $300/mo for 100Mbps and rarely get over 20Mbps. We call and do speed tests and still the same. My wife works from home and CONSTANTLY struggles and may lose her job due to SLOW SPEEDS. We live remote and don't have many options. We are switching to STARLINK.

I had Viasat for at least 3 years. A storm hit in March and we lost internet signal. We called and had to wait 2 weeks for a "tech" to come realign the dish. After waiting 2 weeks the tech came and said there is nothing he can do as he can not get on the roof and realign the dish. I was confused as they installed the dish on my roof. He said we used to be able to get on the roof but the company won't let us anymore. I would think that would be part of getting internet installed.... I had him cancel my service and he told me they would send me a box to send their equipment back in. No box ever came but they continued to bill my card for internet I didn't have.

When I called and said I wasn't paying for a service I didn't have because they couldn't provide it, they would not refund my money. I don't want to even give a one star. As far as I am concerned this is theft. Taking money for a service they couldn't provide. Go anywhere else for internet as this company is not honest. HORRIBLE!!

Where do I begin!?!? I called to cancel my service due to the horrible, poor, slow, forever buffing non working internet. The rep was as professional as he could be. He started asking me a LOT of questions like what was my purpose for having internet, who am I going to have for internet now, and how many devices did I have to go with my plan. First of all, he isn't with sales or was there when the sales team LIED through their teeth about how wonderful their Viasat is. Our internet was so slow that it would take 2 - 3 hrs to watch 1 1/2 hour movie. When I called about this I was told there was nothing they could do for me. Yet, for more money, they can offer me a better package with less lag!!! Imagine that, they can offer faster service for more money but can't fix my slow internet at the level I'm at now!!! I was already paying $178 a month for unlimited!!!

I was paying for the dish insurance so if a tech needed to come out to service it, I wouldn't be charged the $95. Now Viasat refused to refund me any money for the portion paid for and not used. I canceled service 4/16/26. They decided that since I'm paid up until 4/23/26 that's when my cut off date will be. They also want to charge me for removing the dish on my roof. They told me that I need to get a piece off from the dish to return it to them. That will be a $95 dollar fee. This is a horrible internet service on all levels. I would rather go without internet then deal with them. I had a remote job I lost because they promised me it would be fine for remote work, it wasn't. Every single one of their claims is a BIG FAT LIE!!! They're so expensive and worth nothing!!! DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS, MONEY, TIME!!!

My aunt passed away so I called to cancel the account, they said they couldn't and had to switch it into my name in order to cancel. When I did, they said they had done a disconnect. So, I detached my card assuming the account would be closed down. A year later I get a notice of the account getting suspended for non-payment... IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN CLOSED. They're saying it's a valid bill even though it was notated that the account was to be closed.

I wasn’t told that I was still going to be billed… and because it’s on auto pay, ViaSat took another payment. Called and they said I was on the border line of the billing cycle and they can’t refund. I get when I called but the payment should had been canceled or at least warn me that it’s a 50/50 chance that I’ll still be billed. From my original conversation, when disconnecting, there was no mentioned of this possibility. Worse experience.

This is the WORST internet you could get. Not only did it go out constantly but they RIP you off!! I signed up a few years ago thinking it would be better than Hughesnet but I’d rather have no internet than Viasat! They charge a ridiculous amount for a VERY limited amount of data. I got Viasat then plugged in my son’s x box and within minutes I ran out of data because his x box needed updating. I called Visat and they said, "Sorry. You used all your data," and explained to me it was because of the update his x box needed. So of course I purchased more data. Spent over 240$ my first month and still ran out of data midway!

Used them for idk a year or so. It always cut out even from a little wind. Then when I was able to get fiber at home I called them immediately to cancel. I talked to the lady who couldn’t speak proper English and said that I’d like to cancel but who could understand that she said the cancellation department was closed on a Wednesday in the middle of the day! I told her just to make sure I was canceled. Apparently I was supposed to call back on another day to cancel so when I received an email stating the payment would be withdrawn I called immediately and said what’s going on. Well because I didn’t call back and cancel they were going to pull the payment from my account so I stopped payment.

My original bill was 90$ for 80 gig's pretty ridiculous. BUT they charged me 250$ for one month of service that I didn’t even use! I was already hooked up to fiber!! So they lied about being able to cancel me, overcharged me and then sued me for the money! DO NOT PURCHASE FROM VIASAT unless you want crappy internet for way too much money and heaven forbid you try to cancel because they will be closed! Oh ya did I mention this happened to someone else I know! Yes the department where you cancel is always closed! They got him too.

The only reason I give it 2 stars is because in some rural places there are no other options so...better than nothing. My real complaint is in ending service. Instead of sending someone out to collect their equipment they require you to crawl up to the satellite dish to disconnect a box from it and send that, along with the other required equipment boxed and sent to them via mail. AND that big, ugly dish? "Oh - we don't come get that, that's yours." Really? Now there are two abandoned dishes, one on the side of the house and one on the roof, just sticking out there like a sore thumb. People, please, come get your own equipment. Aside from that, the service is expensive and unreliable.

I canceled my service because it wasnt worth it, if it rained we didnt have wifi, if the sun wasn't in the right position sticking ng its tongue out, we would lose connection so we switched to a MUCH BETTER AND CHEAPER service, the cons they hire will try to convince you to stay after you repeatedly try to cancel and then they make you pay an extra month to cancel (gotta keep the lights on some how I guess) then will claim they didnt get their equipment back and use your bank information that they illegally obtain to charge you EVEN MORE MONEY! I wish I never would've done business with these shady people. Putting them on fraud alert with my bank so they can't try to take more of my hard earned money.

Viasat is horrible. Do not sign up for this service. We had Viasat for 5 years and in the beginning they were pretty easy to deal with and service wasn't terrible. Over time, however, the service became unreliable and went down a lot. Also, their customer service became a complete headache. They convinced me to pay the extra few dollars a month for Easy Care which if you look on their website it says it covers required service calls ($95) and again, in the beginning, they honored it but eventually when we'd call for poor service they'd "reset your router" and after that didn't work, they'd say they dish may have moved and needs to be reset but "that" service call isn't covered by Easy Care plan and would be $95.

When I cancelled service they wanted me (elderly) to go on roof and take down dish and send it back. I told them I could not physically do that but it should be covered by Easy Care since it's "required" to send back the equipment but they said "no" that is not an Easy Care "required" service and I'd have to pay $95 to get it taken down. In essence, they want to charge me $95 to give them back their antenna. I'm more than happy to give them their equipment but I am not paying to do it. Meanwhile, I cancelled my service on due date but they say that was "too late" and want me to pay for a month of service that I did not get and did not use. Now they are billing me $500 for equipment, which they can come get, and a month's worth of service I did not use and had cancelled. If you try to escalate it, you get told the same thing at every level which is, you have to pay. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE.

Updated on 06/09/2026: After downgrading from 40GB's a month for 87.60 to 100 GB's a month for 104. A couple months ago I started getting so many disconnections. The third complaint I made, each time it was due to a misaligned dish but always cleared up after the call but a $95 service call to look at their equipment was needed . No thanks. A couple days went by and no real problems but it started again. Then I saw my email 6-8-26 that said I used 70% of my 100% data. Then the disconnections again 6-9 -26 1208pm/1minute, 1242p/2m, 238p/3m, 252p/2m. Then I called again, the 4th call Mark, said he would waive the 95 for me, but not to everybody.. More disconnections. 258/2m, 300/3m, 320/3m, 345/1m, 403/6m, 415/I was on the phone.

Then I got an email after talking to Mark 6-9-26 that said I used 90% of my data. 20% of 100 GB's was used in 24 hours, but I was asleep much of that time. I talked to Mary, the 5th call, she tried to justify using 20% = 20GB's in 24 hours while I was asleep much of that time, then she referred to the outages and said there is a temperature indicator that says the outside equipment is hot. When I call the robot asks for my zip code, my zip code is 94 degrees, when it first happened my zip code had a storm. A misaligned antenna would be constant outage and a hot dish should not be put in areas where the sun shines on it. There needs to be an investigation, not receiving a service that is being paid for is crooked.

Updated on 06/07/2026: After contacting ViaSat around 9am about the disconnections, they track disconnections, they admitted between 1am and 6am there were about 4 disconnects spaced a couple hours apart and I asked why in normal hours such as 8am why have I been disconnected more time in the hour between 8 and 9am, when I called, than the whole late night hours. There must have been 15 disconnects during that 1 hour.

I was told the antenna is misaligned but that doesn't make any sense because if it were misaligned I would think the service would be always out, not come and go, and more often during normal traffic times, or at all. It would have to be a bobblehead antenna to work the way they describe. I just "downgraded" to a more expensive plan that gives me more GB's and it also comes with more disconnections is why I say downgraded.

This is the third time I've called since I "downgraded" and after each phone call the antenna suddenly aligned itself. From 9 till 10 I don't remember any disconnections so for them to tell me that it is due to an antenna not pointing in the right direction has to be some sort of company policy to cover the lousy service they provide. I asked if it was programmed into the package or the modem that it would cause these problems with a higher costing plan, I was told np. But none of it makes sense.

Outages during normal traffic but not late night during low use traffic. Comes and goes randomly. A mispointed antenna that is only mispointed sometimes. And it suddenly fixes itself after a complaint. This is not quality service. And it is not due to the modem needing rebooting. It has been an hour and a half now since the last call and no disconnections yet. With everything I've experienced there is no way that I can believe anything they say to try to explain this. I'm experiencing it, they're just trying to justify it. This company is not worth it.

Update. So it's been over 2 hours since the complaint to viasat and still no disconnects, in the normal traffic use time, raises my suspicions. Another update: It's now been 3 hours and no disconnections and on top of that it is now overcast out there, clouds everywhere. 2pm UPDATE Over 8 hours now since 9am complaint, no disconnections, nothing at all what I experienced before. That blue light would have been flashing white constantly.

It looks like an attempt to get an unnecessary service call with a $95 dollar price tag. It's been 8 hours now and I haven't had any interruptions. Update, Back online 6-6 10:54 pm out for 2 minutes. 11:18 /3 min., 6-7,12:04 am out 10 minutes,12:19/4 min, 1:37/3 min, 1:55/7 min, 2:24/10 minutes. There is a pattern that I'm sure will continue. It is a useless service, to pay for and not be able to use is like theft

Original Review: Paying for service, not good quality service. The video quality is garbage. They sent an email stating they were improving video but what they did is set the default to better quality and when that happened it used more GB's which came out of the customers data allowance. Even trying to use the computer settings to gain a better quality doesn't work. I was told that my allowance would last into the next month, my time starts in the middle of the month but I barely get 10 days before I lose the ability to watch movies. They offer unlimited for a higher price but I don't know what their definition of unlimited is considering what I was told about how long my allowance would last. There is no way I would sign another contract to find out. I lose connection for no reason. Lost it for 8 hours one night. Lose it on clear days, clear nights and the equipment while the connection light says I'm connected, I'm not. I have to reboot the equipment.

If I had know this was related to Wildblue I never would have got it,. That company if I remember right, I had to reach 70% before I could regain internet use after I used up all my allowance, that took a few days with no internet at all. This isn't so much a bad company as it is a bad mindset. Deceit, unreliability, no quality, no credibility. Crappy products come from crappy companies and crappy companies come from crappy people. I recommended this to someone but had to unrecommend, I just can't do that anybody.

As you can see from most of the other reviews, Viasat is barely a better-than-nothing option for rural areas. We tried Hughes Net as well and it was horrible, so we put up with Viasat for years; expensive service for dismal bandwidth on the internet, endless buffering, super slow internet that sometime we could not even open an email - forget about watching a movie...., and bad phone connection often.

Whenever we called them about outages, or service nowhere near what they had promised, people answered the phone who barely spoke English, so it was really hard to understand them and usually it took forever, with minimal results - we finally gave up since it was not worth the headache. We finally decided to switch over to Starlink.

Getting things sorted with Starlink and by the time we had a Starlink installer came out to our place to find the correct place for the dish, our Viasat had already renewed. I figured since you pay in advance and service had not been provided, they would at least refund something; no such luck, even though it was 20 days from renewal date.

Glad to have read the reviews, so we can block our CCard since I want nothing to do with these people. When we talked with Customer service and even talked to one of the managers, they were civil enough but completely uncompromising. They even had the nerve to tell us that we would not be charged for an additional month beyond the one we just cancelled (20 days of no service from them but paying for it...) I guess they thought that would be reassuring and after reading other people's reviews, I guess it is...If I ever have a choice, Viasat would be last on my list, along with Hughes!!
