Charged me to pick up their own equipment after I closed my account. Kept repeating that they could send the box for the equipment even though I told them several times that nobody is at the site. Box showed up anyway and technician came to get equipment. Very hard to understand customer service person. Changed my card information on website but they used old information.

Been using Viasat approximately 4 years. Service was always great and streamed easily. Recently upgraded to Unleashed plan.. tremendous increase in high speed data and no increase in cost. Love it! Never have an outage unless there is heavy rain and never have had to a repair to service. Could not be happier. I have no other access to decent internet in my area!!! My family and I are so very pleased!!!!

We live in the middle of nowhere and have had satellite internet for over 15 years. We started with Hughes Net, but the customer service was horrible, so we switched to ViaSat. Overall, we've been pretty satisfied. Spectrum has finally brought fiber optic to our area, so a few days before the end of our ViaSat billing period, we signed up for Spectrum. I called ViaSat yesterday to cancel our service at the end of our billing cycle, which is tomorrow. We average using around 3 - 3.5 mb per day. Today, however, we've suddenly used 13.5mb. We haven't watched any videos, haven't played any games. We've done nothing extraordinary. Go figure.
ViaSat expects the customer to return equipment, which is fine. But they expect me, a 65 year-old, to return the transponder, which is on the dish on my roof, or they'll charge $95 for a tech to come out to get it. I ask anyone thinking of using ViaSat to consider these things when you decide to cancel in the future. Otherwise, the service is just okay. Videos and streaming buffers a lot. I would upload a receipt, but we used auto-pay and never received a confirmation.

HORRIBLE COMPANY.... Horrible service with many days of outages, you'll be on the phone for at least an hour with every issue (and there will be many) you have. When they schedule a tech to come out, the tech never shows or cancels at the last minute. Customer service reps are sometimes hard to understand, having a heavy accent. They are very nice but read from a script and you never get any resolution, even if you pull a 'Karen' and ask to speak with their supervisor. Total frustration. You're at Viasat's mercy and they know it and they DON'T CARE!

Live in the country. So when I joined Viasat and hughes net was only opinion I had. All viasat does always trying get you upgrade your plan "so they get more money". When you upgrade your plan runs fine for maybe couple months, then they start throttling it, get slower and slower so you'll upgrade your plan and that never ends. Before I left viasat a 500gb month plan was $299.99 month. Finally ran fiber optic where I live now get 1gb speed with unlimited for $95.00 month includes equipment, taxes. I feel bad for ones with limit providers. I consider Viasat one the worse PERIOD.

Viasat is absolute TRASH. The want around $150 of the money you worked for for terrible service. I work from home and I'm held accountable for how many cases I work per hour. All of my systems take way too long to load. When watching television; it buffers. Everything is just slow. I was paying $120 with Xfinity and had way better service. I've only had them for 3 days. I called today to cancel and they requested I send back their equipment in a box they will have mailed to me; fine. My issue is that a tech, who has experience getting on rooftops, can't come out to get the equipment installed on the roof. I have to get up there myself or have someone else do it. With me only having them for 3 days and still have to pay the $150; they can send another tech to get up there and get their equipment. I don't have a ladder or the skill to do that, but I'll do what I have to. Just know not to ever do business with them again.

The worst bandwidth I've ever seen. They use promised speeds to mask how bad the bandwidth is. I think my dial up in 1998 was faster than what I got from Viasat. They totally scammed us. For a long time I couldn't leave any reviews because I was afraid they would punish me in some way. Not that I am free of viasat I can tell this story. Worst isp I've ever had.

I wish there was an option for no stars. Terrible experience from beginning to end. Where do I start? My elderly, widowed aunt had Viasat for several months. In September 2024, she was injured in a car accident and was in the hospital for 2 months. During that time, she also lost her part-time job. Her internet, for whatever reason, began to lag terribly after she got home from the hospital in November, even to the point where she would go through 60GB of data in 3 days. She doesn't game, she doesn't download. No one at Viasat could tell why this was happening. At the end of November, even though she was financially strapped, she decided to upgrade to the Unleashed package for the unlimited plan. Living in a rural area with no other family around, she absolutely needs the internet access and wifi for her telephone so she can be connected to society.
We ordered the new modem, and after 10 days of it not arriving, we contacted Viasat and UPS. UPS confirmed that the package was lost or stolen from a warehouse in Ohio. When we told Viasat that info, instead of just overnight shipping a new modem, they insisted that they had to do their own investigation, which took another 5 business days. After that time period, I called back to verify when the new modem would be arriving and was told that a new modem had not been ordered yet, because they couldn't do that until the first investigation was over. So, we had them order a new one, and I even had a supervisor agree to ship it overnight first-class, to prevent loss or theft again.
Waited 6 more days, nothing arrived. So we called on 12/20 and were told that something happened to the order and it never went through. I had a different supervisor assure me that they would have a technician come out on 12/23 with the modem in hand, and do an installation. 12/23 came and went, no phone call, no modem, no technician.
My aunt called on 12/24 and was told that there was a "glitch" in the scheduling program, so they rescheduled a service call for 12/26 (today) from 11 am to 2 pm. Again, no phone call, no modem, no technician. I decided to call today and was told the same thing: there was a "glitch" with the scheduling program and no technician was scheduled for either service request. Also, it would take - you guessed it! - 3 to 5 business days for another "investigation" before they would allow us to even schedule (another) service call for installation. But it's moot, because even if we could get installation anytime in the next week, the new modem would not be arriving by then anyway. We decided to just cut our losses and cancel the service. Waiting for the box to arrive for me to finally ship all the equipment back to this "internet company". I use that term very loosely.
If you are considering having internet service from Viasat, do yourself a favor - run the other way. DO NOT get into a business deal with these people. Their customer service and the way the business is run is unbelievably terrible. I honestly don't know how they are still in business, except that there are probably a lot of customers that they are fleecing that have no one to advocate for them to see through the crap that Viasat is pulling. I feel bad for anyone trapped in that cycle with this company.

My parents had them for years, my mom passed away and I tried to upgrade the internet options (from a 40g/month plan). We would run out of data like in the 2nd week. All the bills, the house phone, etc were on this wifi because of the rural location, no cell phone service. Tried to cancel the service in November, jumped through the hoops to cancel. Then was charged anyway, caused an overdraft because it's for my senior citizen dad on a fixed income (retired). So another round of hoops. Was promised a refund, was promised they'd send a box for the outdated items to be returned. Nothing was done. I'm on the 4th call to make sure this is cancelled, and I am also trying to get my dad refunded for the service. I will be contacting my bank if I don't get the refund, and I'll make sure they can't take any more money, and that my dad gets his money back. This is horrendous customer service.

I should have read reviews first and ran. Very dishonest company. I signed up for the ultimate plan which offered unlimited data with no throttling. They guaranteed me on the phone 80 to 90 mbs speeds. I asked if they installed and it didn't work well, if I could cancel. I was told yes, you are not under contract. Fine. Signed up. They installed and on day 3 I called to cancel. I was getting 30-50 mbs during day and about 12 mbs in the evening. They asked me to wait and let then send someone out to look at everything because "you should be getting faster speeds".
Guy shows up and spends hours going over everything. Still not getting speeds. Guy says issue is with Viasat. Probably have too many people on band and slowing speeds. I call today to cancel and am told I still have to pay for whole month of service whether I use it or not. So much for no contract and, "if it doesn't work, just cancel". Should have ended that sentence with, "but you still have to pay".

My mother in law switched to Viasat due to living in a rural area. The install made sure and upsell her on multiple items she didn't need and charged a nice profit for. After a few months her service degraded but she dismissed it. I recently changed her service and find out they charge you to terminate service and force you to climb on your roof to retrieve an item off the dish along with the router or pay $300. I had called about her internet speeds and was told it was showing "well above 100mb download" when I was testing at the same time and was getting 8mb download.
When I call to terminate the service I am interrogated with who I changed to, what I am paying and why did I change. I refused to answer. Also the customer service agent's accent was so thick I was unable to understand the information he was giving me and after asking him numerous times to repeat it he was obviously angered and short. All in all I would NEVER recommend Viasat for anyone unless it was no other option.

This company simply don't care about the customers at all. They want the money but are not willing to take care of our needs. I needed to speak with someone to help me with my situation but their customer service never tried to get me to right person to handle the problem, or the person they said they were going to to help me would tell them that they didn't want to talk to me and had them to direct my call to a recording operator. They were not trying to even hear my voice, but they will definitely take my payment every single month, no hesitation. Please do not use this company, they are definitely going to use you. Run and run fast! They are for the customer; only the money.

When I first got Viasat it was great but then after a while, it buffered all the time no matter how much data I had. I talked with customer service they would run a test and say it was working fine I just wanted them to come and check it out that didn't happen. So I moved my router all over the place checked connections. I had to reboot it all the time to get it to work, it eats data rapidly even when you're not streaming. It also buffers all the time.

ABSOLUTE WORST!!! PG&E recommended them to me when I moved in. They said it was a great option and after I paid for a satellite installation for my place, they charged me for everything they could think of and stuck me with an inescapable 2 year plan. The wifi is the slowest thing on the planet and I can barely stream on my T.V. with it being the only device connected to the wifi/ethernet. It won’t even load up my gaming console or my computer.
The charges keep racking up in unforgivable manner while they gouge me for more money every couple months. Having no internet would be better than troubleshooting this internet every week. The 2 year commitment of this company makes it to where even if you cancel the internet you still have to pay full price for the remainder of the two years. I called the day after I got it installed and tried to cancel and there’s absolutely no grace period (meaning once it’s installed you’re screwed no matter what). If I could give this review no stars I would. I highly don’t recommend this company to any person gullible enough to listen to a power companies recommendations.

This company is horrible. I never even got an installation to begin with. Called three times and multiple emails asking them to do the install on a schedule that works for me. I asked for a Saturday appointment due to my work schedule and unable to be there, they kept sending me appointments for weekdays in the middle of the week after I explained yet again each time I called that would not work. I've never encountered a company so unwilling to accommodate a customer's schedule. Would not recommend this company to anyone.

I have had this service for only a week or so, give or take a few days. I can't honestly remember when we started it. I will say this, do not use them at all. Like most of the reviews I read, I'm getting the same treatment. I was quoted fast reliable service. I'm getting between 9 and 30 Mbps speed on a good day. The web site I saw on Google said ideal for gaming. They have 2 different web sites. One on Google and a different one if you open up an incognito page. See pics below. The first two from Google. The others from an Incognito window. The information doesn't even match. This is even worse than Hughesnet. Dial up had better service. Do not waste your time. They lie about everything. As far as download speeds, just a joke.
When I called in the tech said it's because of the time I choose to use the service is considered peak time and when the service is busy from heavy traffic this is to be expected. So how can this be considered reliable service, when the only time I can use it is when it's not considered peak time? Just bite the bullet and get Starlink if you have to get satellite service. Tech support will not even help and will tell you this is what can expect from satellite service. They prey on people looking for better service and can't deliver it. False advertising and lies. All lies.
I'm paying $169.00 a month after taxes and fees but can't even use the internet to watch a simple Youtube video, the only quality I can even get is 480p and below. Cannot even handle 1080p.... Very unhappy with this company to say the least.... Do not use them and if you see their ad please for the love of God, keep scrolling or just bite the bullet and get Starlink. This company and service is awful.

She is definitely a person that will not help you in your situation and does not care whatsoever in any way shape or form about you the customer, So don’t ever think going with this company Viasat that you will get any help at all!!! Mia is an authority hungry useless manager!!! Mia, YOU ARE ROTTEN and you don’t care!! If I could give zero stars I would.
I have consistently had problems with my service, and have had them come out to my home one time to fix, However, every single day, I’m rebooting the service trying to get it to work. When I finally had enough, I called to cancel, they informed me that they will charge me $250 to cancel plus a $95 fee to have somebody come get the equipment off my roof. So let me get this straight, you get terrible service that doesn’t work, and when their equipment doesn’t work, then you get charged even more to cancel and to have them come out and get their own crummy equipment!! Go with someone else!!! Save yourself from this headache of a company!!!

First of all, Viasat Internet Service is poor, slow and incomparable to other companies. I use Viasat for quite a while because I live on the outskirts of Houston. I decided to try another company. I returned my equipment except for a piece that was on the roof because I live in a two-story house and I was unable to get up on the roof. I close my account with Viasat and I removed my card from file. Two months later Via charge that same card that I removed $270. Do not trust this company. They charge my card that had been removed from their account two months after being closed. This is illegal.

I have had Viasat Internet service for 7 years. I live in a rural area where Internet service has been hard to come by and hit or miss for a long time. Luckily we now have access to fiber optic so I am switching. How was Viasat's service? Overall it was okay. Some days fine, some not so fine. It did get better as the years went by. My big problem with the company is in discontinuing the service. I was told that I have to return the modem and power cord (no problem) along with some box that is on the satellite dish. I have no way to disconnect that box from the dish. I was offered a "special" $50 credit to get someone to come out and disconnect it leaving me with a bill of $45.00. Now I have paid a $8.99 monthly fee for 7 years to cover any service I might need. Could I use this, especially since they could come and disconnect it well before the end of the month I have already paid for but no longer need? "No." I was told.
The fee I paid monthly was for "regular service" while having someone come out to disconnect this box was "special service". Come again? Sounds to me like a perfect opportunity to fleece the consumer. And, this equipment I am sending back is at least 7 years old. That's pretty old for technology. I was told by the rep that Viasat reuses this equipment. I specifically asked what they did with it and that was their answer. So, would I recommend Viasat? No, I would not.

Single worst experience ever had with an Internet company. We had them for a week then their router went out on his own. We were able to have Internet for three weeks. After that they kept pushing back or scheduling date saying we weren’t scheduled. They kept trying to give us offers, promotional discount and everything but still charge us full price until we had never really had to cancel. Thank goodness we bought the satellite dish out right for $200 or else we would’ve been out hundreds of dollars more just trying to get out of this contract. Do not get this Internet provider if you have a choice.

This was my sister's service that she never used. She had to go into a nursing home and they were not very helpful when I called to cancel. Every other account that I had to cancel waived the cancellation contract fees if I provided proof, which was easy. Dish didn't make me climb on the roof to get something off the dish and Viasat wants me to climb on the roof or pay $200 or pay someone $100 to come and get it. I'm not asking for anything unreasonable, just some understanding. I would not recommend a company so uncaring to anyone.

Their prices kept climbing every month. At one point we were paying $346 a month for snail-paced, constantly cutting out internet. I called and they lowered the bill to $115 and said it would be faster. They lied. Then after 12 months they charged us over $300 again!!! I stopped payment at the bank and refuse to give them that much money for horrible service that I can’t even use for my remote job. Sat faaaar away from Viasat if you have any other choice. I was told no matter what install is free. Well that was a lie. Charged me 100 dollars and wouldn't refund it. Free install is free install no matter where you put the dish. It wasn't told to me if it's on the ground would be a 100 dollars, just installations are free. I had Internet service prior to this and it was in a bad location, the back of the house. I ask the installer to put it in a more central part of the house. He said, "No I'm putting it right here." Pretty much to hell with what the customer wants or needs. So the back of the house. Where no one stays and has the best reception and I'm 50 to 75 feet from the router itself. I will not renew my contract and actually want to move so I can be opted out of my contract. But I'm sure they'll still stick me with an early termination fee. I've called several times over these complaints with no resolution. Except there's nothing we can do. Also my data was used up when I wasn't even home a couple months ago and they didn't offer anything to resolve that issue either except I could buy more data. I will not deal with them any longer than I have to. Starlink is better.
