This is the slowest and worst internet I have ever had in my life, the only reason they even have customers is because nothing else is offered at all out here where I live at. The only time I'm home to watch TV or anybody my family is in the evenings, and it doesn't even work because it's considered a congested time then, they want to charge you $15 a month to call in and try to fix stuff, but every time you call in, they tell you there's nothing they can do or that there's nothing wrong with it. As soon as something else is offered out here, we are getting rid of it. It is just terrible everything about it, my son can't even play his games. I can't ever scroll on social media.....

We live in a rural area and satellite is our only option. We pay for unlimited data and get slowed down when we reach a mystical threshold. We canceled our service. They expect US to go on the roof, disconnect, and send the dish back to them. My husband is disabled and I certainly cannot get up there either. So they continue to charge use. Basically blackmailing us. Return the dish or keep paying for a sucky service.

This is for the loser, Viasat internet. They are crooks and junk internet. They say you got to return their equipment but no box came. Liars and crooks. Do not get their internet, never. Be smart, get Starlink, they are better. They deserve a 0 if a person could do it.

I am on the plane as I write this using data instead of wifi because their WiFi doesn’t work, I spent over half an hour connecting following the instructions to a T but it softlocked me with a “Thanks for flying” UI with no close button and then said that I had to clear all of my search history to use it, and yes I was in airplane mode earlier too and I could go on and on but I don’t think this service deserves that. It also sometimes just goes to a black or white screen.

This WiFi company is a complete scam and hands down the worst service I’ve ever dealt with. I only signed up because AT&T recommended them, and that was the first mistake. The technician, Alex, “set up” my WiFi and walked out without telling me there was an outage. As soon as he left, nothing worked. When I texted him, he told me to wait 24–48 hours — something he should’ve mentioned before leaving.
Then it gets worse. The very next day, I get an email saying my entire account was disconnected. Customer service claimed that some random person with a random number supposedly called and cancelled my service — which makes absolutely zero sense and clearly shows how disorganized and incompetent they are. At that point, I made sure the whole thing was cancelled for good, because it was already a disaster from day one. Do yourself a favor and RUN. This company is trash, their service is trash, and their customer support is even worse. Don’t waste your time or money.

Switched to Viasat a few months ago and WOW is it awful. I live in an area that doesn’t have a fiber internet option, so I got viasat due to my neighbor having it. I swear the days of dialup internet had faster download speeds. It takes nearly two days to download a game that is 30GB large, 5 hours to download an update on anything greater than 1Gb. The latency is never less than 700!

We had Viasat installed by one of their installers. We canceled it. Now they want me, a senior with bad balance, bad knee, and shoulder to climb up on our 35' roof and take down their equipment that THEY installed or charge us $90. I'm on retired and on social security. They're apparently good at installation but not on getting their equipment back. Never again will we use them and recommend you do more research on their policies than we did. How disappointed.

Don't use this company. If you want to cancel your membership they will require you to get on your own roof to uninstall the satellite dish that they put on. Then when you refuse to risk your own life they charge you 300$ and send you to debt collectors for it. They are either very dumb or have huge **.

They only hot 1 star because I was forced to to submit. But absolutely 0 stars. Worst company ever. We pay for 5G but can't even connect to our 2.4G. We pay for unlimited data cause I work remotely, well try, and can't. I lose job after job. Or go sit at Sheetz. We call and say something and sometimes they don't come for a week. We've had techs here regularly for 2 yrs now. They couldn't even attach the dish right, they gotta come back about every 6 months to retighten it. Look up the lawsuits against them. But don't worry, there is literally a whole site that gives you step by step instructions to take them to court... What's that tell you. I suggest antenna tv before them.

Their website is worst ever, impossible to find any information!! Fraudulent service!!! Viasat wants to charge for “late” return of their equipment 300$!!! When it came to time to disconnect, Viasat just didn’t sent their “box” and never informed that box wasn’t sent. When I called and asked where is their return equipment box, they just said they don’t like UPS address and they need a residential address. A thing is residential address isn’t guaranteed arrival, in a middle of nowhere. And UPS's address is a standard and was accepted before.
Now everything will be delayed by a fault of Viasat's bad service and they wanna charge for “delay”! I talked to a billing department supervisor Leslie L and she was passively aggressive, insulting a customer, me, by a standard “I’m sorry you feel this way”. They tried to pretend that she “helped” to update an address. Although it was done by an associate James. And at the end Leslie pretended that service was actually “provided”, like returning box was sent and not accepted. She said “We will send you ANOTHER box”. What a nasty way to insult a rightful customer!!! Beware. It’s Impossible to disconnect and beware you will get charged for “disconnecting” 300$, cause it’s “automatic” and no way for a billing department to update a returning equipment time frame to 30days. Leslie said she can not update a return time frame, but pretended all the time, like she actually “helped”, by being passive-aggressive insulting non-stop.
We got it before it was named Viasat and speed was really low, prices were very high. Last year our bill was automatically including “easy-care” plan 10$, when nobody signed for this crap. Nasty customer service and nasty nasty billing department supervisor Leslie L. It’s a fraud Non-Stop!!! I’m sorry, Happy other internet providers are available with clear service, clear websites, cheaper plans, fast and unlimited connection.

NEVER NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!! THEY LIE ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO CHARGE OR NOT CHARGE YOU!!!! Two employees told me one thing, and then another employee said complete opposite!!!! And they would not hold their original promise they gave me..... I was calling around to get internet at my new house. I didn't know the companies in the area that offered internet, so I gave them a call to get prices. When I spoke to the sales rep on the phone first time they told me no contract and no cancellation fee. So THAT is the reason I decided to sign up for it.
When I called few months later to cancel my acct with them, I was very nice and told them canceling b/c already had fiber (that I didn't know about) at my new house. The person I spoke to said there would be a cancellation fee. I explained to her I was told no cancellation fee when I signed up. She put me on hold and came back on the phone and told me that they would not charge cancellation fee b/c sales rep said I would not be charged. She gave me the reference #, for the conversation we had on the phone and she said would put notes in there saying that they would NOT charge me cancellation fee, to give the person if need to talk to customer service again.
Then couple weeks later, I see that there was a charge to my bank account. I called customer service, and in a very very nice calm conversation, I explained what was going on and gave them the reference #. The person on the phone this time pulled up that reference and said that there are no notes about not charging cancellation fee, even though I told this person that I spoken to TWO other employees and BOTH of them told me no cancellation fee. So TWO of their employees LIED to me, and PROMISED they would NOT charge me a cancellation fee, but did anyways!!!!

Deceptive Advertising, Ridiculous Speeds, and Abusive Charges – Avoid This Trap! I signed up for Viasat’s 150 Mbps plan, thinking I’d finally get decent internet at home. Big mistake! The installer showed up on a Friday, set up the equipment in a rush, and left **without testing the speed in front of me**. Not even a “hey, let’s make sure it’s working.” On Monday, I ran a speed test and was shocked: Only **9 Mbps**! I immediately called customer service, and the representative had the nerve to say it was “normal” because “too many neighbors were using the network at the same time.” Seriously? I paid for 150 Mbps, not a congestion lottery! I expect what I paid for, or they shouldn’t falsely advertise speeds they can’t deliver.
I requested cancellation on the spot – I’m not responsible for Viasat’s inability to manage their network. But the nightmare continued: they charged me **$100 for installation + $188 for a month I didn’t even use**, and they keep billing me. I’ve called multiple times, explained everything, but they just stall. They haven’t even sent the return kit for the equipment! It’s a clear excuse to keep me in debt and charge abusive fees. This is outright theft. I’m preparing to take this to court if there’s no amicable resolution, but I warn everyone: **Viasat is the worst internet service I’ve ever had the misfortune of signing up for**. Slow speeds (constant throttling, as thousands of customers complain), impossible cancellations, and endless charges. Go with Starlink or any other rural alternative – Viasat only delivers disappointment. **Rating: 1/5 stars.** Do not sign up!

This is THE WORST company I have ever dealt with across any service I have ever purchased. They were very quick to start my subscription, but I never actually got the internet service. I tried THREE TIMES to get a technician out to my house because over the phone, they confirmed the satellite had no signal. I was no-showed every time. Then I wanted to cancel my subscription since I never got the service and they were going to CHARGE ME to come out and remove the dish from my roof.
I reported them to Better Business Bureau TWICE since I never got the service, they never showed up for my scheduled appointment, and they were going to charge a pregnant woman for needing assistance getting the satellite off the roof. I finally thought it was over after they agreed I could just send the router in and I canceled the service, but then they filed me to collections for $200 worth of charges for the internet service I NEVER GOT. I reported it but obviously the debt collection agency would not agree with my documentation, so I had to pay. DO NOT BUY THIS SERVICE. IT IS A SCAM. I will go on every review site to write this review in hopes to keep others from purchasing. I AM COMING FOR YOUR VIASAT.

I am writing this review to express my dissatisfaction with Viasat service. I had been a customer for over 10 years until recently I had to cancel my service because of the lack of technical support that I received. May 2025 my service was out for a few days so I called in June 2025 to report that I didn't have any service in my home. A new modem was sent out and tech call was scheduled. Remind you that this week 3 without service in a rural area. After having to reschedule several service calls. I canceled the service completely and requested a refund for the months that I had no service in my home which was the whole month June. I went a company by the name of Starlink which I highly recommend.
In July I received an email stating that my payment would be drafted from my account on July 22nd, which surprised me because I had canceled my service with them so I called in and explain that I shouldn't be getting charged and I was actually waiting on my refund for June. Representative stated that the service hadn't been fully disconnected and that they would be processing it on July 21. I was told that refund would be processed once equip is received and here it is August 2025 and they haven't processed my refund. Their service is crappy and the company is dishonest in doing business. Please do not get service with them.

I am writing this review to express my extreme dissatisfaction with Viasat. From exorbitant charges to an incredibly unstable internet connection, my experience with this provider has been nothing short of a nightmare. I was charged a ridiculous $129 for a service that was consistently unreliable. The internet connection dropped multiple times a day, making it impossible to work from home or even stream content without constant interruptions. This level of instability is unacceptable, especially for the price they demand.
To make matters worse, I cancelled my service after only 11 days due to the abysmal quality, yet Viasat is still attempting to charge me the full $129. This predatory billing practice is outrageous. They are clearly more interested in extracting money from customers than providing a functional service. Save yourself the frustration, money, and headaches. Do NOT subscribe to Viasat. Their service is a rip-off, and their customer practices are appalling. So horrible and unreliable

Devices and service work spotty AT BEST. The transponder (outdoor part that transmits signal from satellite in center of dish) is NOT weather resistant (although it’s got outside!?) and will go out often. The modem indoors is outdated and also often goes out. We pay about $150 a month for 60gigs, let me say this: NOT WORTH IT! I’d rather not have internet than use this company. Viasat has MINIMAL technicians that work for them in my area and when I have called for customer service, it’s a long wait and they will want to change your mind about what service you want or if you’d like to change it or cancel it. THEY ARE NOT PART OF THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU, which shows and will likely be out of business in no time in Florida. DO NOT GET TAKEN BY THIS COMPANY. THEY WILL NOT SUPPORT THEIR CUSTOMERS! I’ve had a consistently frustrating experience with this internet service. The company does not follow through on what they say they’ll do, and their representatives often give conflicting or incorrect information. It’s clear there’s a major lack of internal communication and accountability. To make matters worse, their automated system warns of “zero tolerance for aggression” — now I understand why. They seem to go out of their way to aggravate customers with delays, misinformation, and poor service. It feels like they’ve designed the experience to push you to your limit, then hide behind their “policy” to avoid taking responsibility. I do not recommend this service to anyone who values honesty, reliability, or respectful customer support.

I had Viasat in 2017 due to my mother having cancer I had to work from her home in rural area. It worked okay for purposes as far as service. Once her treatments were over, Mom wanted to keep the service so I continued until 9/6/22. I canceled after contract ended. I returned equipment that same week. I even called and confirmed they got it. A month later they tried to charge me for it. I still had tracking and such, they found it refunded me. Then in 2024 they billed me again (now I haven't been a customer in 2 years). I called, I provided the last convo, they had the tracking number and they refunded me again. Then in October 2024, the same charge came in. I called they said they would handle it and I shouldn't worry, I don't have to pay it, it's just an billing issue. Never heard from them after that so I thought it was handled. Then in 2025 they sent me to debt collector for unpaid account charges.
I contacted the collector, gave them all the information (even chat logs from viasat saying I owed nothing from 2024) and Viasat claimed they never got my equipment again. They wouldn't drop the charge. I am tired so I paid the dang fee. But, if you want internet service that is functional in a rural area try Att or veizon. Viasat is not able to control their bulking system. I will never recommend them for anyone ever again. They are obviously not able to handle even basic tasks as a company, and don't keep their word. I signed up for Viasat internet in April 2021, as I live in a rural area with limited options. Initially, I paid $234/month for 200 GB of data. Since then, Viasat has changed its plans in an attempt to stay competitive, and I was moved to the "Unleashed" plan, which is advertised at $119/month. However, with hidden fees and a $15/month equipment rental charge, the cost adds up quickly. To be frank, the internet quality does not justify the price. The service is plagued by lag and buffering, especially during peak hours between 4–9 PM on weekdays. If you're a gamer, this is not the provider for you—online gaming is virtually impossible due to latency issues.
My biggest frustration lies with Viasat's installation and service policies. Despite being a customer for nearly five years, I’m still expected to pay $9.99/month for "Instacare" coverage—or face a $200 charge each time a technician visits. Even with Instacare, there’s a $95 technician visit fee. If you cancel Instacare within 90 days of a technician visit, you're back on the hook for the full $200 per visit.
In my case, the satellite was installed on my roof without proper water protection. As a result, I now have to replace my roof due to water damage caused by Viasat’s poor installation. If you don’t want the satellite on your roof, they’ll mount it on a pole—but be prepared to pay an extra $75 for that, on top of the $95 technician fee and monthly Instacare. Needless to say, I’m counting down the days until Firefly Broadband finishes its expansion in my area. The moment it’s available, I’ll be returning Viasat’s equipment and closing my account.

I ordered internet from this company and the installer never showed up. He kept changing the day he would come and I ended up getting billed for service. I asked the installer what happened and he said the only way usage could’ve been measured is if the equipment had been tested in the shop. I canceled my request with ViaSat, told the installer not to come. This was a suspicious situation. It was already a couple weeks after they originally said they would have it installed and I still had no internet. Customer service insisted it would be impossible for them to have measured use if there was no installation. I told them to call the technician. They asked me repeatedly to look for a white triangle in my house. I told them repeatedly no one had been there it is not possible for a white triangle to be in my house.
Finally a supervisor took pity on my situation and agreed I could not return equipment I never received and I could not have used internet service that the technician was still in possession of… Now a year later I am being contacted by a debt collector saying I owe this company a debt. I am so tired of this issue, they have gas lit me and stolen my time. I called customer service today and they have insisted that they are unable to help in any way. I would not wish this ordeal on my least favorite neighbor.

DO NOT USE VIASAT!!! Besides being ridiculously expensive every month, unlimited isn't even close to being unlimited. We were with them for over 6 years. Once we moved and canceled the service (Jan 2025), they told me they wanted the router back (as any other company does). When they sent the box for the equipment that EVERY OTHER SERVICE PROVIDER asks for, they had a note/hole for the transmitter piece on the satellite. This was not information I was given when I canceled the service. We returned everything but the transmitter, that little piece at the end (they are saying it's worth $210). They did not say this when I canceled the service.
We had moved, someone else had moved in and removed that satellite. So we can't get it back if we tried. No other company asks for this back. NONE OF THEM. All the satellite cable companies give those out constantly and you don't pay anything close to what Wi-Fi costs every month with Viasat, for that service. This company is only about money. They raise their rates all the time if you have trouble with the service no matter what they want to send a tech out, that you must pay for. They will nickel and dime you, only with a larger price tag. Use anyone other than viasat. It's now May 2025 and they are saying we owe the $210, no bill they just tried to charge us. It's beyond ridiculous.

Therefore I have been charged $165.00 saying I didn't return the satellite dish. I returned everything else. They never told me I would be charged $165 when I signed up. They are a horrible company who dupe older people who cannot get on top of a roof. They never put this information in anything I signed with them. They are cheats and liars. He couldn't take the equipment with him because there was no ticket/order for him to do so.
I called the company and they said they would mail me a box to return the equipment. I never received the box and I never heard from them again. The equipment is still in my closet and here it is 3 years later and now I get a collections notice. I contacted the collection agency and explained what happened. Then they told me I have to return a little silver box attached to the antenna on the roof -- the THIRD STORY roof. Seriously? They are the worst. If I could review 0 stars I would. A red flag went off in my head when on their phone line they say that any derogatory things said to their representatives wouldn't be tolerated. Obviously they piss off a lot of people. It really started from the beginning. They lied to us upon first inquiring about the service and told us that we could try it risk free for 2 weeks to see if the internet would be fast enough for us. We tried it for 3 days and our video chats were impossible amongst very slow speed.
We called in to cancel and they told us that even though it didn't work for us we were responsible for the entire billing cycle which was 30 days. We told them that we were told that we could test it free, and they said that that is not their policy. After hours of talking with managers, I can sum up that they do not care if their salespeople lie to people in order to get them to try out their service. They do not guarantee upload speeds at all. Meaning, they know that there is a good chance that you may not be able to use their service for video streaming. So not only do they have poor speeds, but they will lie to you and tell you you can try it for yourself risk free, and then stick you with a bill that is over $130 even if you tested it out, and its not functional. Do not buy. They are the worst.

We live in the middle of nowhere and have had satellite internet for over 15 years. We started with Hughes Net, but the customer service was horrible, so we switched to ViaSat. Overall, we've been pretty satisfied. Spectrum has finally brought fiber optic to our area, so a few days before the end of our ViaSat billing period, we signed up for Spectrum. I called ViaSat yesterday to cancel our service at the end of our billing cycle, which is tomorrow. We average using around 3 - 3.5 mb per day. Today, however, we've suddenly used 13.5mb. We haven't watched any videos, haven't played any games. We've done nothing extraordinary. Go figure.
ViaSat expects the customer to return equipment, which is fine. But they expect me, a 65 year-old, to return the transponder, which is on the dish on my roof, or they'll charge $95 for a tech to come out to get it. I ask anyone thinking of using ViaSat to consider these things when you decide to cancel in the future. Otherwise, the service is just okay. Videos and streaming buffers a lot. I would upload a receipt, but we used auto-pay and never received a confirmation.

I wish there was an option for no stars. Terrible experience from beginning to end. Where do I start? My elderly, widowed aunt had Viasat for several months. In September 2024, she was injured in a car accident and was in the hospital for 2 months. During that time, she also lost her part-time job. Her internet, for whatever reason, began to lag terribly after she got home from the hospital in November, even to the point where she would go through 60GB of data in 3 days. She doesn't game, she doesn't download. No one at Viasat could tell why this was happening. At the end of November, even though she was financially strapped, she decided to upgrade to the Unleashed package for the unlimited plan. Living in a rural area with no other family around, she absolutely needs the internet access and wifi for her telephone so she can be connected to society.
We ordered the new modem, and after 10 days of it not arriving, we contacted Viasat and UPS. UPS confirmed that the package was lost or stolen from a warehouse in Ohio. When we told Viasat that info, instead of just overnight shipping a new modem, they insisted that they had to do their own investigation, which took another 5 business days. After that time period, I called back to verify when the new modem would be arriving and was told that a new modem had not been ordered yet, because they couldn't do that until the first investigation was over. So, we had them order a new one, and I even had a supervisor agree to ship it overnight first-class, to prevent loss or theft again.
Waited 6 more days, nothing arrived. So we called on 12/20 and were told that something happened to the order and it never went through. I had a different supervisor assure me that they would have a technician come out on 12/23 with the modem in hand, and do an installation. 12/23 came and went, no phone call, no modem, no technician.
My aunt called on 12/24 and was told that there was a "glitch" in the scheduling program, so they rescheduled a service call for 12/26 (today) from 11 am to 2 pm. Again, no phone call, no modem, no technician. I decided to call today and was told the same thing: there was a "glitch" with the scheduling program and no technician was scheduled for either service request. Also, it would take - you guessed it! - 3 to 5 business days for another "investigation" before they would allow us to even schedule (another) service call for installation. But it's moot, because even if we could get installation anytime in the next week, the new modem would not be arriving by then anyway. We decided to just cut our losses and cancel the service. Waiting for the box to arrive for me to finally ship all the equipment back to this "internet company". I use that term very loosely.
If you are considering having internet service from Viasat, do yourself a favor - run the other way. DO NOT get into a business deal with these people. Their customer service and the way the business is run is unbelievably terrible. I honestly don't know how they are still in business, except that there are probably a lot of customers that they are fleecing that have no one to advocate for them to see through the crap that Viasat is pulling. I feel bad for anyone trapped in that cycle with this company.

When I finally had enough, I called to cancel, they informed me that they will charge me $250 to cancel plus a $95 fee to have somebody come get the equipment off my roof. So let me get this straight, you get terrible service that doesn’t work, and when their equipment doesn’t work, then you get charged even more to cancel and to have them come out and get their own crummy equipment!! Go with someone else!!! Save yourself from this headache of a company!!!

First of all, Viasat Internet Service is poor, slow and incomparable to other companies. I use Viasat for quite a while because I live on the outskirts of Houston. I decided to try another company. I returned my equipment except for a piece that was on the roof because I live in a two-story house and I was unable to get up on the roof. I close my account with Viasat and I removed my card from file. Two months later Via charge that same card that I removed $270. Do not trust this company. They charge my card that had been removed from their account two months after being closed. This is illegal.

I have had Viasat Internet service for 7 years. I live in a rural area where Internet service has been hard to come by and hit or miss for a long time. Luckily we now have access to fiber optic so I am switching. How was Viasat's service? Overall it was okay. Some days fine, some not so fine. It did get better as the years went by. My big problem with the company is in discontinuing the service. I was told that I have to return the modem and power cord (no problem) along with some box that is on the satellite dish. I have no way to disconnect that box from the dish. I was offered a "special" $50 credit to get someone to come out and disconnect it leaving me with a bill of $45.00. Now I have paid a $8.99 monthly fee for 7 years to cover any service I might need. Could I use this, especially since they could come and disconnect it well before the end of the month I have already paid for but no longer need? "No." I was told.
The fee I paid monthly was for "regular service" while having someone come out to disconnect this box was "special service". Come again? Sounds to me like a perfect opportunity to fleece the consumer. And, this equipment I am sending back is at least 7 years old. That's pretty old for technology. I was told by the rep that Viasat reuses this equipment. I specifically asked what they did with it and that was their answer. So, would I recommend Viasat? No, I would not.

Single worst experience ever had with an Internet company. We had them for a week then their router went out on his own. We were able to have Internet for three weeks. After that they kept pushing back or scheduling date saying we weren’t scheduled. They kept trying to give us offers, promotional discount and everything but still charge us full price until we had never really had to cancel. Thank goodness we bought the satellite dish out right for $200 or else we would’ve been out hundreds of dollars more just trying to get out of this contract. This was my sister's service that she never used. She had to go into a nursing home and they were not very helpful when I called to cancel. Every other account that I had to cancel waived the cancellation contract fees if I provided proof, which was easy. Dish didn't make me climb on the roof to get something off the dish and Viasat wants me to climb on the roof or pay $200 or pay someone $100 to come and get it. I'm not asking for anything unreasonable, just some understanding. I would not recommend a company so uncaring to anyone.

Their prices kept climbing every month. At one point we were paying $346 a month for snail-paced, constantly cutting out internet. I called and they lowered the bill to $115 and said it would be faster. They lied. Then after 12 months they charged us over $300 again!!! I stopped payment at the bank and refuse to give them that much money for horrible service that I can’t even use for my remote job. Sat faaaar away from Viasat if you have any other choice. I put up with this for 3 years and decided to cancel and go with another company. It took about 4 calls to cancel and they even offered to cut our price down to 1/3 of the cost if we would sign another contract. I told them no, I got slow service so matter what the cost, PLEASE CANCEL. Well I had to pay for the month because they don't give refunds. They sent me a box to return the equipment, a receiver off the roof, the modem, cord, & Ethernet cable.
When I called & told them I am way too old to get on the roof they told me they would send someone out for $95 service fee. I told her the Ethernet cord goes thru the wall and around the whole house, did they want me to get on a ladder and take all that down too???? She told me they don't need the Ethernet cord & to just let it be. Now I have to find someone I don't know to get on my roof at a cost too me, just to give their own equipment back. Service did NOT work so we changed to Starlink (literally last night!!) - My husband called Viasat today to cancel and they are charging us $400! The technician they sent out months ago told us our best option would be Starlink - when we told the customer service lady that VIASAT's TECHNICIAN told us to get Starlink - she said "well I hate to hear that - I can send out another technician" - she tried to say we had Alexa (we have NEVER had an Alexa in this house!!). We had Google Chrome - Chrome books and Apple watches on our account - so that's why the service is bad. We connected our Starlink last night and for the FIRST TIME SINCE I purchased my Chrome book LAST year - it actually worked like a Chrome book should work!!
When we had Viasat hooked up last year - they had contracts which they have now stopped doing contracts - but we still have to "pay" to get out of the contract... Even the technician told my husband if they try to charge you to get out of the contract - tell them no - because they are not requiring contracts now - but the 3 people he talked to for over 45 minutes will not drop the charges. The last internet service I had said I used 50GB a month. Every month Viasat says I used my 100GB in 10 days! No way is that possible. And when you run out of data it takes 15 minutes to load a webpage, and most times you're lucky to see a page header. If you have bills to pay you better do it before your data runs out- and make sure there isn't a cloud in the sky. One cloud and no internet. There are many hidden fees too. The cheapest plan, $99 costs $130 in real life. My hotspot from my PureTalk phone is better. That's only $35 a month. Tmobile hotspot only charges $55/month and is 6X faster (using the same test and service plan of 50 mbps) and is month to month...no contract. Viasat also refused to waive a $180 termination fee, same result with the supervisor, and manager that I asked to speak with to remedy. I got no remedy. Viasat leadership agreed that there is a waiver for an account holder death, they refused to use reasonable judgement and honor it, there was no change in account number, or hardware installed, all I did is pay a bill for my deceased dad, and they said their representative doesn't have to inform the customer of a termination fee or even that they handled my situation as a new start up contract.
I removed my credit card from "auto pay" and they said they will charge my credit card anyway. That action is form of theft in my opinion! It is a moral issue for me to not honor the deceased and those trying to help. This is my complaint letter to viasat: inquestclaims@viasat.com. Acct #** and house (** Tucson 85735) owned by my dad (**) who passed away on 5-5-24…death certificate attached above.
On 5-31-24 I spoke with Viasat representative Stephanie about my dad’s passing, his auto bill pay being disrupted by the bank, and that I would pay the bills temporarily until decisions could be made on the estate. She never said anything about starting a new contract with me, termination fees, etc. She did say that the account number did not even need to be changed, and in fact it did not change. There was no infrastructure installed (dish, or modem) for me to pay a bill. Today (8-6-24) I scheduled Viasat service to be discontinued before the next billing cycle 8-15-24. Updated on 10/26/2024: The reason I am back is because I have new information to share. Let me first share that after I posted my review, my credit card company submitted a request for refund on my last payment where I didn't use their service. I wasn't aware that my credit card company did this or why, as I was previously told this investigation is closed, and based on their contract verbiage, I owed them that money. Fine. Anyway, for reasons I'll never understand, Viasat chose to forgive the fee and refunded my credit card. I have a dated letter from my credit card company stating so, and a deposit as further proof.
I warned Viasat that if they didn't refund me that I would write reviews of my experiences, and I did. After the refund, I thought about taking the reviews down, but I also thought NO, I told them I would do that and I'm not going hunting to take them down since they didn't refund me when I asked. I appreciated that they refunded me, but to me, this book is closed.
On September 30th, I opened my credit card statement and found a charge from Viasat for $213.52. This is now 5 months after I closed my account with them. This is also what I was paying monthly for 150GB of data, which was about 2 weeks worth of data and the rest of the month we would read a book. LOL. So I called my credit card company and immediately disputed the charge. Then I called Viasat and asked for an explanation for why they were charging my credit card 5 months after I closed my account.
The customer service rep literally could not find anything in my record going back several months showing that I owed this money. So she told me she would check with billing and put me on hold. She comes back, and I'm not kidding you one bit, and says that billing says that the $213.52 is for a service call and return of equipment, $95 for the service call and $118.52 for return of equipment. So I say that there is a slight problem. A) There was no service call, B) equipment return is free (they provide you the box and you return the equipment to them) and C) that's to the penny the exact same amount that you were charging me monthly for service back in May when I cancelled my service. "You find that a little fishy? Because I sure do". So she goes back to billing and this time she comes back and says "They've decided NOT to refund you after all."
So this company refunded me some money and decided later on to NOT refund me. This is actually credit card fraud. So I made sure the customer service rep now understands what kind of company she works for, I apologized to her for my anger as she was polite the entire time, while also being very forthcoming about this entire ordeal, and I tell her to tell her bosses good luck on getting this money from me. Shared all of this info with my credit card company and they assured me that Viasat's bank won't be able to do anything to you on this charge.
But, what I think really happened here is Viasat thought they could sneak a charge onto my card without my knowledge. What they don't realize is that I moved that monthly fee from them to a card that I only used for their monthly fee once I cancelled, because I wanted to easily see that they charged me for services after I cancelled, and sure enough they did. I'm certainly going to notice when they charge me again. I may not have noticed it on my rewards credit card, because there's a lot of activity there.
In summary, what you are dealing with if you sign on with Viasat is a 2 year contract for lousy internet service, limited data and a company that will try to steal from you after you have left. I urge all Viasat customers to watch their credit card accounts. This is not how you do business, and they really should be shut down if they are willingly attempting to steal from former customers. Unethical and un-American.
Original Review: Viasat has been one of the most frustrating companies I've ever dealt with. They are a Swedish company, and I'm 50% Swedish, so it makes me sad to have nothing good to say about their product. The service itself is slow, buffers constantly and once your data usage is gone, you can forget accessing internet at all, even to check emails. I called and complained over and over again. I originally intended to get Starlink, but during Covid, they were on a waiting list. I waited months and got nothing from them, so I signed up for Viasat. It's a 2 year contract, and boy do they like to throw that contract in your face.
For my two year experience, they gave me 100 GB of data for $172.51 per month. Let me tell you just how little 100 GB actually is. The current average family uses 700 GB a month in data. My wife and I got 1/7tth of the data the average family got. We never made it a month. Not even close, and that's ignoring that we had DirecTV for most of our tv needs. What we got from Viasat was maybe 10-15 hours of streaming apps like Netflix.
I called and complained over and over. Fell on deaf ears. I was so mad, but their only real solution was for me to buy more data per month. So I did that. Now I had 150 GB a month for $213.52. Still didn't make it a month, but we rationed all month to try to have something for the entire month. It was so bad, we didn't use wifi for our phones, limited our computer time and absolutely didn't share our wifi with our friends. Yeah, we were those people, but not because we wanted to be. Viasat's horrible plans did that to us.
So I detailed that I complained and complained a lot. Well, I just stopped complaining. We figured out a way to limit our data usage by mostly watching and recording on DirecTV. Well, we then made it past our 2 year contract and I learned that Starlink was now available. Starlink was UNLIMITED DATA and only $120 a month. It was a no brainer. So I bought Starlink and I hooked it up myself. It works great. I no longer get all the buffering and it works like a charm and it's half the cost of Viasat. Well, I called Viasat and told them to cancel my account immediately. Done, done, done and good riddance. Well, not so fast, grasshopper. You canceled inside of the new billing month, so you have to pay another $213.52 whether you use it or not.
Before they told me this, they informed me that they were sad to see me go, and that they have a new service plan that offers 850 GB of data per month for about half what I was paying for 150GB, and that they would give me an added discount because of all of my previous problems. I asked when they got this new plan, and they said February. It was the end of May when I called to cancel. So I said "So you've had this plan for several months, you've known how unhappy I was with your service, and you are only offering this now that I want out of our deal?" Silence. I then said "if you valued me as a customer, you would have offered it to me right when you got it. You didn't want to offer it to me because I was the customer dumb enough to keep paying $213.52 for 150 GB of data. That's the way I see it. So, no. I don't want your new plan."
So then we get to the $213.52. They told me I owed the $213.52 for that new month whether I used it or not. I told them that I felt cheated for all of those months they didn't offer me that better plan, and that they should refund me for that month just to save face. They matter of factly said it was in the contract and there was basically nothing I could do about it. I said I can do something about it. I can go on every site I can find that does reviews of businesses and I can tell my story and warn others that were shopping for internet services to shop elsewhere or maybe have another existing customer realize they too might get my treatment or find a company better (which wouldn't be hard to do).
I then said "If I get one customer to look elsewhere or quit your service, that might cost you much more than the $213.52 you are charging me". They didn't sway their opinion. So here I am. They refused to refund me for unused services because it's in a contract, a 2 year contract that I didn't want to be in in the first place considering how lousy the service was from day one. You don't know what you are getting when you sign that contract. I know now.
I mentioned earlier that I also had DirecTV. Between DTV and Viasat, I was paying more than $500 a month (ugh). It's tough being rural. Anyway, I bring them up because THEY gave me the Sunday Ticket NFL Package for free (when they had it) and the MLB Baseball package and occasional free movies for being such a good customer. I never asked for any of those things, but I certainly appreciated that they gave it to me. I took full advantage and I'll never have anything bad to say about DirecTV. That's a stark contrast between companies. One appreciates your business and shows you how much they appreciate you. The other doesn't care about your internet connection, your feelings or anything other than my bank account. I'm the signee of a 2 year contract and they will rub that contract in my face.
Bottom line, it's not worth the money, the headache or heartache to do business with Viasat. Their product is a dinosaur and it won't be long until some other company gobbles them up and makes them extinct. Internet is too important in people's lives these days to offer such garbage. The only good I could say about them is they answer their phones and the customer service people are generally nice to you on the phone, but nice doesn't fix the overall problems with their services. BUYER BEWARE!!

In March of 2024 I requested an upgrade to my plan, took two weeks for service techs to come to my home to “upgrade” the equipment for my new plan. It took them 4 hours get it completed and turned out it was only a newer modem, it also took 2 techs to do that, and all for my WiFi service to be worse than what I had before. I placed several calls to complain… Calls turned into at least 30 min phone calls where I was left more upset and Viasat would not compensate with lower charge of billing due to poor WiFi service - even when a representative confirmed that the new equipment and new plan was no better than what I originally had.
Two months later we had a fire that affected the wiring to the satellite, I had no WiFi- took two weeks to get an appt scheduled to have a tech come to the property to replace the burnt equipment for new equipment, the day of appt., the tech called to confirm window time frame and realized that he was going to cancel my appt because his service ticket had it listed as an upgrade rather than repair/replacement and then I still had to call Viasat to request a new appt which was going to take another two weeks and in the meantime, Viasat is still running billing for service!
Viasat refused to pause billing since I had no service due to fire and would also not offer a discount. This is now 4 weeks into no WiFi service due to fire and their turn around time to serve me with new equipment even though it was their initial mistake - they refused any type of compensation due to their mistakes, they even made me purchase an insurance plan to cover the burnt equipment to only later find out from another Viasat representative that the insurance wouldn’t cover it!!
Every call placed with Viasat was over 30 min with zero resolution and the least to say infuriating!! I finally found another WiFi provider in which they have provided not only amazing customer service but I had new service installed within 48 hours. It also took 54 minutes to finalize the cancellation of service with Viasat!!! And they still want me to climb my roof to uninstall the satellite equipment so I can ship back to them. (Even though they don't hold my account anymore and it is in collections) I asked if that would include all the overdraft charges incurred because of them... we all know the answer to that...
And another thing, both people a talked to were not even American... Also, Viasat service sucked anyway... That day came and went without anyone showing up. And I called them and they said, "We had to cancel it. We didn't have enough people to get out there." And I asked why did no one contact me. I took time off of work and waited all day? All they said was, "We're sorry. We'll make you another appointment." I said, "I've done this twice and if this is the kind of company you are I don't want your service so cancel my order." So they said I get a refund in a couple weeks, we will see. I didn't even know companies like this existed, I wish I had read the reviews before starting the service. All the reviews are just like mine.

The service is so slow it reminds me of AOL dial up. Trying to watch a ballgame is frustrating as you are constantly interrupted by buffering. Also, the picture quality goes in and out and will most certainly give you a headache if you watch long enough. While I pay for "unlimited data"...which according to ViaSat is somewhere over 800 gigs within a 30-day period, I am being throttled back at peak hrs after only 400 gigs. The only reason I have ViaSat is because I have a brand-new home in a brand-new neighborhood and there is no other choice here yet. I tried using my phone as a hot spot, but they just don't give you enough gigs to work with. The 24-month contract sucks but I will gladly pay to get rid of them as soon as fiber internet is available in a few months.

So they basically charge everyone $815 + $120 for 1 months service. You WILL cancel because the service is literally not there. You can’t even use social media and the pictures load. Worst and I mean worst service and customer service ever. I got internet through Viasat in January, technician installed. We at that point could not access the router so I called in and they said it was on their end. So they were like give it 24 hrs. It will work. It did not. Called multiple times about the router to no avail. We still had no access. March 2nd comes around, guess what? No service at that point, I call in. They send a technician to my house. He does nothing, I catch him on camera sitting on our ladder playing on his phone. I call in to complain because this guy even bangs on the ladder to make my hubby think he is working yet he has no idea we are watching the whole thing go on. So I call in with complaint and my service still doesn’t work. They say they will call back. No ever called me back.
So I call again because it’s 2 weeks and still no service, the person on the phone says, "Well you have stuff hooked up to it." I tell them I don’t and that I can’t access the router to even know who has access or what is accessing it. I tell them I have had no service. They say, "Okay. Well we will give $140 credit and send a technician out." No technician ever showed up and no credit so I call back and the next person tells me I never had that conversation because it would be documented. Okay so now I’m a liar. So they say, "We will have someone call you." No one calls me. No internet.
It’s now April, I tell them, "I’m done. I want to cancel because you have provided no service to me." The women tells me that I owe them $196.00. Nope, I don’t think so I tell her. I said, "You are charging me on March 1st for the month of March correct?" She says yes. I said, "Well you gotta provide service to charge me legally, and you have not provided anything so I refuse to pay." She says, "Well we can’t do anything," and that they will not charge me for the two year contract. Okay but I’m still not being charged the $196 for service you didn’t provide. I had to cancel my card and get a new one. Then they told me I gotta ship everything back, I said, "No. You can send a technician out to get your product the same way they came and installed it on my 2 story house." I said, "I’m not climbing up there. You're insane."

I canceled in September, they said they would call me back. They never called me back. I called again. They said that their line was very busy and to leave a number and they would call back again. Finally got through to the gentleman. I wanted to cancel. He said fine. He would call me back and he would email me all the information so that I could cancel , I waited and waited. I, like most, could not get eight days off work to wait for the tech. So I had to go back to Verizon and pay them $400 plus to get their service back... When it came time for the Viasat tech to come, on a work day because they don't send techs weekends, I got calls and a text that their tech couldn't find my home. I wasn't able to do that this the tech never came -- this happened in December.
In late December or early January I called and stopped the auto pay because I didn't believe I should pay over $200 a month for service that wasn't working. I planned to re-schedule to get the tech out as soon as I could take time off from work... I was told auto pay was turned off for the time. In February Viasat took the over $200 payment via auto pay from my checking account. Clearly that rep had lied. Auto pay wasn't shut off. Viasat refused to refund the money. They kept telling me the charge was valid. Their idea of a valid charge is stealing your money for service that doesn't work.. Their idea of customer service is to constantly treat you like garbage. This is a cheating, lying, scamming, abusive, gaslighting company.... Go with any other option. Don't get involved with this scam company... We were lied to and tricked into a contract though, so we stuck it out. We waited until our contract was finished to cancel. They still billed us for an extra month (over 30 days after we canceled). Four months later, they billed us again. When I called, they said it was because I didn't return the equipment. Having suspected they would try this, I took pictures of the box contents and kept note of the tracking number.
I gave the customer service rep the tracking information and told her that it had been received by Viasat three months ago. She then tried to say that the box was missing contents. I told her that I had photos of the box contents. Only then did she say that they would initiate a refund. She said it could take 3-5 business days and that I may have to call back. Conclusion: In conclusion, my initial experience with Viasat has been disappointing, primarily due to the consistent issues with internet speed and the lack of effective customer support. I hope that Viasat takes these concerns seriously and works towards improving the quality of their service.

Describe your experience: 11/16 I had installation done with Viasat at about 2:00 pm, that same evening I couldn't open app, couldn't set up account after trying 5 times, and plus technician didn't give me receipt for installation on a pole (that's a tax write off for my business since I do work from home 1/3 of time). So with those issues pressing, at 8:00 am on 11/17 I called to stress my concerns under a 24 Hour window I was having and just cancel with them. They wouldn't do it without a $400 cancel fee! I was appalled and argued on the phone with Charlie ** and someone named Bal, for an hour and a half stressing that most places honor 24 hour window of return or canceling free of any charges.
Ended up having to get my business attorney on another line to help me get out of contract with no charges. Plus, my attorney informed me that just accepting installation is not grounds for a signature, that what I was emailed was a form of forgery and theft of my signature, attached to a 1 page incomplete contract. | even had to go and cancel my bank card Viasat had on file as a precaution

If you have any other viable options, please use it. My family and I have had a horrible experience since day one. It's only my husband and I, adult kids that do not live close. We both work M-F and for the most part there is no -one home on Saturday. Each month we have to Pay for additional megabytes and gigabytes. We were gone an entire week to get an email saying that we've exceeded our allowable minutes {While we were out of STATE}. I showed them the receipt from the Hotel we were in from check in to check out to be restored. The following two weekends the same. I pay for additional minutes at least TWICE a month and There is NO ONE in our Home.
I was then informed by a CSR that I must unplug all my TVs and electronic devices. Or my time will be used. What, I have never heard of such a Thing. ViaSat gave me a {Deal} do not leave their services and we would be compensated. A technician arrived timely and professional and did the installation in about 5 minutes. Due to a family emergency. WE left the home in under an hour. We checked in a hotel the next day while at a hospital, I received ANOTHER email that You have exceeded your mega and giga bytes. The technician had just installed the newest device we left and once again there was not a living soul on our Home. This is CRAP. Really, so who's using the services. No Laptop no home computer.??? Have had Viasat for too long now. It was sort of ok, at first, if you didn't mind rain getting in some piece of equipment and service stopping, or being told it must be cloudy in your area, it wasn't at all. Or if you start the new cycle and 3 days later there are no bytes left, but you've not streamed or played a game or anything related to using the Internet other than 2 phone calls for...10 minutes each. Then they say if tech has to come out then you will be charged ???? or you can get this service for technicians for this much per month and suddenly, the service improves to only sorta spotty.
Now, well out of contract, trying to cancel service and all I'm getting 1. People I'm having trouble understanding because of a HEAVY accent and combined with them speaking rapidly over what ends up being very important parts of their screen read speeches and you have to ask them repeatedly to repeat. 2. You try to impress to them that you can't reach their antenna to retrieve their special box because it is mounted on the side of the house up high and they will send someone out for more $$$ and it was their contractor that put it there with their ladder. 3. And apparently if you have to call repeatedly to try to talk with someone, YOU cause a glitch in their system and they can't do anything with your account for 3 to 5 business days till -THEIR- tech can try to fix their glitch.
4. Your bill goes up and up and up and service doesn't get any better. It is frustrating, nearly impossible to get your service cancelled when you need/want it cancelled. Please, try ANY other Internet company. If Viasat is the only Internet company available, do yourself a real favor, go without internet. Keep calling other companies, they'll most probably get service to your area, reliable service, very soon.

Called to cancel and was informed I was getting charged almost 400 dollars for an early termination fee, for service I couldn't even use. Customer service reps were very rude, argumentative & kept trying to get me to let a tech come over to see if he could fix all the issues. Seriously!!!! After this whole experience and the conversation I had today with your reps & being charged the 400 dollars, I'll take the hit on my credit for this 'cause everything about your company and how you represent your value for your customers is nothing I've ever experienced before.
And, I was also not told you would be putting a huge satellite dish on the side of my house by my kitchen window that protrudes almost 3 feet, had I been told I would of canceled before it was even ordered. I am giving it one star because at least I was able to work using the service for three and a half months, until I couldn't do it anymore.
1. They didn't even ask me how to spell my name to start off with services. Took 6 calls and two months to get it fixed.
2. The installer did not align the dish right from the start. One of the times I called in about my name they told me a tech was scheduled to come out on 9/2 from 5-8 pm. They no called no showed. When I called in about that, they said the tech didn't have the equipment needed to adjust the dish. They rescheduled me for 9/23. To fix a problem they caused.
3. I asked the sales rep specifically to confirm if 400 gb of data would cover 6 phones, 3 tvs, and me working from home 8-5. She assured me it would. I had to start purchasing data after week two. It's not cheap. Don't get me started on the buffering frequency when streaming. When I called cs to find out what was going on, they said they now had a business hours plan to give unlimited data for remote workers from 8-5 Monday through Fridays for 40 dollars extra.
4. I purchased the plan for 9.99 a month that stops you from additional charges for a tech to come out if needed. Yeah, when the tech came out I received a charge for 49.99. Then when I called about the charge, I was assured that I would receive a refund in the form of credit on my next bill. The request was never entered.
5. The same day the tech came out, voice service was added to my bill. I didn't ask for it, didn't get any equipment for it, when I called in about that charge, I was told they would remove it. They didn't, to the tune of approx 30 dollars a month.
6. When I finally called in to cancel, after biting the bullet and getting Starlink, I finally had the privilege of speaking to a supervisor. Because I was cancelling. He tried to keep me by telling me that they now have a plan that is the same as what I was paying for plus free Disney Plus for $120 a month. My last bill was 325. Add insult to injury. Cancelled.

I am a tech savvy person who uses a variety of internet providers between my home and multiple business locations. When it comes to Viasat, my service is CONSTANTLY down, not even counting when the service is interrupted for weather. I have had technicians come out three times after spending hours over numerous occurrences on the phone with customer support. I’ve been given every excuse you can imagine- that a satellite is broken, the “beam” I’m on is oversold, I’ve used my high speed data (while I’m looking at my account and can see that I am nowhere close to out of data), and ‘there’s nothing wrong with my service’ while the modem is red and there is no internet.
Further it is ungodly expensive. When I opened the account Viasat had a function called Data Extender. At some point they deactivated this feature and claimed we were using 5 times the amount of data we previously had, although our usage did not change. When the already slow “high speed” data has been used the “unlimited” data is equivalent to dial up- in short unusable. In order to maintain consistent speeds of 25-30mbps (while I was on the 100mbps plan), I was spending over $500/month because I had to keep adding more data for shockingly little use.
After extremely frustrating and time consuming attempts the get my system fixed, I called to cancel. They directed my call to a very hostile department that refused to process a cancellation and wanted to further “assist” me with troubleshooting the system. She acknowledged that she could see in her end there was a problem with my equipment and said because they were willing to fix the system they would not waive the cancellation fee. I pointed out that the technician was on property two days prior and the equipment was still broken, and I was no longer willing to spend time on the phone with tech support and clearing my schedule for their four hour service windows. When I asked if I should start billing Viasat for MY time spent trying to resolve their busted system, she told me that her system just went down and she wouldn’t be able to help. She asked me to call back tomorrow. Hilarious!
Don’t use Viasat! Use a cell service home internet option (I’ve recently started using Verizon portable WiFi and it’s great, even in areas where my phone gets little service, the WiFi modem works well), use Starlink (it really is all it’s cracked up to be, especially considering the cost of the equipment was worth one month of Viasat’s fees required to maintain usable service), use ANYTHING other than Viasat. Give up the internet and start reading books if you must- you’ll save yourself more frustration than the thievery of Viasat charging for a service they simply are not going to provide.

I moved to a fairly remote area a few months ago, and decided to go with Viasat for my internet due to my usual internet not being available. Right from the very beginning, I wasn’t getting any reliability at all. It was freezing or just not working at all. I called to figure out what was going on and they told me it was because I wasn’t paying for their high speed and tried to get me to upgrade my plan. I refused because I don’t use it that often and I’m not getting batted into premium services, when all I need are basic internet services. I watch an occasional movie or TV show, but that’s all I use it for. I have Verizon for my phone, which is actually reliable, so I can do most things through that. So I told them I wanted to cancel before the end of my first month.
The supervisor I spoke to offered to help me remedy it all, because “they didn’t want me to be unsatisfied, and wanted to rectify the problem.” So they offered me the “high speed” at a low cost and offered to give me credits for the services I’ve missed to get me to stay. I figured since it was a new, I would let them try to fix it, as long as they adjusted my bill. So they scheduled an appointment to have someone come install a new router, which took several weeks. The technician didn’t even show up. So I called and rescheduled the appointment again (with a several more weeks wait), and once again they didn’t bother to show up. After yet again rescheduling, and still not getting any credits or discounts, they kept assuring me that once the new service was established, my bill would be adjusted.
That next billing cycle, there were still no changes to my bill, except for a drastic increase! I called about it and told them I was done wasting time and money on them, and still not having service. I tried to cancel again. And once again I fell for their lies and decided to stick it out a little longer to see if they could correct the issue. It was never corrected, my bill once again increased even more, and I have to start from scratch every single time I call. The employees seem nice, but I don’t know if they’re the ones lying, or if the system is just one giant glitch designed to only cost the customer more, but there were never improvements.
After receiving another increased bill, I called to cancel the services (which I never properly received), and they are now telling me I will owe them about a thousand dollars. I have to climb on my roof to get my satellite down and send back or they’re charging me 400 for it, plus they’re saying that I was in a contract and they’re going to charge me almost 400 for canceling!!! On top of that, they still didn’t fix my bill, so they want that money too. They never once kept the terms of their contract, and they’re trying to now charge me for canceling a service that was never properly provided to me in the first place.
I’ve had bad experiences with companies before, but not like this. I feel like they’re gaslighting me. They make promises, tell me they’ll do it, and when I call back to find out why it’s not happening, nobody knows anything about it. I’ve wasted so much time and money on this company and now they want to charge me more. I simply cannot take Viasat anymore. I wish that someone could have warned me about them before getting into this nightmare! Not only is the service FAR below average, even with their fastest speeds, they’re not trustworthy or reliable in any way. They lied to get my service (the agent told me they were the only providers in my area, which was a LIE), and I feel for it. I will continue to report them, until someone does something about it.

With all the money they are getting you figure they could upgrade their systems

Viasat is the worst service I have ever encountered. You'd be better off with resorting to the old dial-up services than them. The 2 year contract is a trap to stick you with paying for essentially nothing but the equipment which is leased and must be returned to them. They even rob you to end service. I gave one star because that is the lowest allowed.

Even when you are within your data limits, your speed can slow to a crawl during high volume times, such as evenings and weekends, making streaming unpleasant-to-impossible. You don't even get what you have paid an exorbitant price for. But Viasat knows no one who had a choice would opt for satellite internet.

It's a scam. They know the internet service is horrible so they trap you into a 24 month contract and then make you pay over $300 in termination fees when you have to switch providers to an internet service that actually works.
