WOW! I bought a couple of vouchers from LivingSocial. I used one for Shaw Academy and after the course bought a lifetime membership. I called LivingSocial to refund the second Shaw Academy voucher and they won't. You only have 3 days to request a refund so don't even bother buying no matter how good the deal sounds. All the rep from LivingSocial did was read me their hidden details. They are a SCAM. They won't even provide a credit. BTW the call center and online chat is in Columbia - so good luck getting nowhere.

I ordered an item in Navy blue but received it in black. It is difficult to contact customer support and once you eventually are able to chat with them they show no care. They would not send me the correct item and requested that I set up an exchange where I would have to pay more to get the correct item even though it was THEIR MISTAKE.

I received an email today at about 10:30 am with a link to a local restaurant deal. I clicked on one the links for this deal and it led me to the website for living social, however, not this restaurant deal. There were other similar deals and there was no xyz restaurant deal is sold out. I contacted customer service via chat and was told by the first rep to send him the email, which I did. He stated that he was looking for the email and I checked and realized I had a return email stating that the email address was not receiving incoming emails. The rep actually received the email a few min later, but dropped out of the convo, or so I thought, until I ended the chat and his new messages showed up.
I began chatting with a new rep who I explained the issue to and he quickly told me that the deal was sold out. I explained to him that this was impossible since the link doesn’t even take me to the correct restaurant deal plus there’s no way that the deal could’ve expired within 5 min of it being emailed to me. He explained that there are many similar deals to chose from. I asked him how long the deals are available for and he said the Time was uncertain. I asked him for the number of deals available for purchase and he said the number was uncertain. I let him know that this deals email was a classic bait and switch deal and I ended the convo. Beware...

I received an email from Living Social that contained an ad for purchase of an Apple iPad 4, either a 16 or 32gb that was a scratch and dent model. I ordered it. Today, when I received the email confirming my order was about to ship, it showed the product was used! I called Customer Service and eventually was transferred to a supervisor. I told her the ad was dishonest. She apologized, but refused to cancel my order. Stated their policy is order must be canceled in 2 hours! She refused to let me to speak to a manager at a higher level and told me all she could do was give me an address to write!
The product will be shipped to me. I must return it to the post office to return to them and it will take them 2-3 weeks to verify I have a right to return the product. Then, I should receive an email saying return was accepted. After another few days, the money should be returned to my card. All this because this company deceptively led me to purchase a used or refurbished product. Texas has Deceptive Trade Practice Laws against such activity!!! Don't buy anything from this company! Wow!

I ordered a "cleaning" for my apt. The deal was $59.00 for what is normally a $120.00 job. This is the way all LivingSocial/Groupon deals work. When I tried to redeem my voucher, the cost was about 4 times more; even much more than the $120.00. This is a total ripoff!!! When I requested a refund of my $59.00 they told me there was a 3 day refund policy... is this true even if their ad is dishonest??? Sabastian at Living Social referred me to the bottom of the page which he claims, on the first line or so, refers to the fact that the $59.00 is really a "partial payment". If that is true, and reading the portion I was referred does not exactly say that, it should be made very clear on the voucher not in a paragraph under it. There should be a SCAM alert on Living Social and Groupon!!!

A few weeks ago, I bought a voucher for a CHL class for my husband and gifted it to him. The deal looked pretty good. The hours for the business said Monday through Friday. My husband could do those days. When we went to redeem the voucher, however, the ONLY class available was on Saturday, when we are not available. We tried contacting the business to see if there was a different day available that wasn't on the website. Couldn't get a hold of them by either email offered or their phone number. I went to get a refund but guess what. LivingSocial's refund policy is you're only given 3 DAYS to get a refund.
I requested customer service assistance, and they only offered online chat. In the online chat, I told the guy, "I can't get a hold of this business by email or phone," and he responded, "I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Please contact the business." I was like, "Are you even a real person? I very clearly said I CANNOT CONTACT THIS BUSINESS." He just answered with something generic. I swear he was a bot.
Then when I called the corporate office, the lady on the phone was like, "I'm sorry. There's nothing we can do. Did you check the website? Their days of operation are Monday through Friday." I told her that was clearly inaccurate, because the only day the class in question was offered was on Saturday, and I kept trying to explain to her and she just kept saying, "I'm sorry. I don't understand. Their days of operation are Monday through Friday," and I was finally like, "Are you even listening to me???" She never did get it. So pretty much, I've wasted my money. If I ever buy from this place again, I'm going to make sure I can contact the business ahead of time. No more trusting that all the information is upfront. And don't bother with customer service. They're worthless.

I have purchased several vouchers from LivingSocial. Some are good deals but more frequently the purchase is with a company that is no longer (or never was?) in business or will simply not call back to schedule service. If you call LivingSocial customer service you are offered a credit instead of a refund. I see this as unsatisfactory resolution since it was their lack of diligence up front that caused this problem.

I communicated with customer service about 5 LONG SLEEVE shirts I received and were prone to shrink after just one wash/dry cycle. I asked to return all 5 shirts after realizing they would be prone to shrink. I was told that since I had purchased them on July 20, 2018 (and today was Sept 11, 2018) that I had exceeded their 30 day return policy. I told them this had nothing to do with "when" I received them but that it was clearly a problem with the way the shirt held up after just one washing; i.e. it is clearly a manufacturer's defect issue. I had washed just one shirt one time and it shrank in length a full 2 inches. I am stuck with LIVINGSOCIAL'S shrinking shirts and their funky rules on what appears to be a NO return policy for manufacturer's defects!

I'm concerned about the security of my payment information due to what I was told by one of their customer service reps today. I attempted to purchase a Sam's Club membership using my PayPal account. My PayPal account is linked to my bank account. I received a confirmation email, but when I attempted to follow the directions to redeem my membership, the voucher didn't have a redemption code. I just spoke to somebody at LivingSocial called Yenci via the website. Yenci kept asking for my banking information, & I kept telling Yanci that I use PayPal as a security measure, so that I can protect myself against fraudulent use. I don't think Yenci understood what PayPal is, or possibly didn't care about account security issues & that people like to use PayPal as a means to prevent fraudulent use. Yenci wanted me to give a card or account #.
PayPal doesn't work that way, & if I wanted to give my banking information out I would've done that in the first place rather than using PayPal. It felt a little bit like I was being scammed. I asked if there was a phone number I could call for assistance & was told that there is no phone number. I asked Yenci if they understood how PayPal works, & all Yenci said was "I'm sorry, but I can't help you with this issue if you refuse to give account information". Supposedly my order was cancelled due to security concerns, I was told that I could attempt to order again, but could not be assured that it would be processed. My MAIN concern is that I don't get charged twice for this if I do attempt to order again. Very, very, very poor customer service!

I booked 8/4 Ramada hotel through LivingSocial. When I arrived to hotel, hotel said that they did not receive any information and no room is available. Basically, LivingSocial took my money and did not do anything. I strongly believe this is a fraud. LivingSocial has three options to contact them. Email, live chat, callback request. Callback request is not available. So I started live chat. After all my explanation, live chat says internal team will try to help and escalate the issue and ended without my response. I tried to use the live link again, but the link became unavailable. Wow. Real high technology. Obviously, I as well as hotel did not hear anything from LivingSocial. Please advise what I need to do. LivingSocial left my family on the street and ruined the family vacation.

There is a reason why L.S. is not a member of the Better Business Bureau. They are terrible. I have had more than one issue with them, the last just a newspaper subscription which stated that when I checked out with my address etc, that was all that was necessary. Obviously not, because a week later I received an email that my voucher had expired but I could use the money ONLY at the merchant for whom it was originally purchased. And purchase a subscription for considerably more. The Orlando Sentinel stated they had no record of my purchase and referred me to L.S.... L.S. stated that it was a third member purchase so I had to get my money from the Orlando Sentinel. Back and forth and back again, to no avail. I think it was a scam. Although it was a minimal amount, hundreds of purchases gave someone somewhere a tidy sum and a good laugh on our account. I will never buy from Living Social again, and neither should you.

Stay away! If you get a deal and are unable to use it, after it's been 3 days, you cannot get a refund no matter what! They don't care if you bought a deal if it's out of state and you are unable to use the deal. They will say well I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but per policy after it's been 3 days since the purchase we are unable to issue a refund. The only exception is if the business is closed. If you get a deal and the merchant refuses to honor it, they don't care. You are out of your money. Boycott this company and don't use them. Use Groupon instead.

When I called the carpet cleaning company to schedule an appointment, I was told I didn't live within 20 miles of their zip code and they refused to provide service. I emailed LivingSocial in hopes of discussing the situation, but never received a reply. After a great deal of effort I found LivingSocial's phone number, called, was placed on hold for a long period and eventually given the same explanation. I asked for the address of the carpet cleaning company so I could check the distance for myself, but was told they didn't have the company's address.
I asked to speak with the supervisor, was placed on hold for another long period and eventually told she was on another call. I left my cell number and asked for a return call, which I am still waiting for. I have canceled my LivingSocial account and unsubscribed to future email communications. It seems odd that they would rather lose a long time customer than give a $32 refund for service that was never provided. It also seems odd that they don't screen the providers very well. The company was very unprofessional when I contacted them. Unfortunately, scam is the only way to describe my experience.

I purchased a deal titled "Lunchbox Laboratory - Bellevue." Turns out, the deal was not for the restaurant's Bellevue location. It was for either of two more distant locations. LivingSocial's customer service agent would do nothing put point to the deal's fine print, which specified the other two locations. Legally correct, ethically terrible. The deal was deceptively titled. If the title had not included the city, I would have scrutinized the fine print more carefully. But it did, setting the expectation that the deal was for the Bellevue location. I'm cancelling our LivingSocial account and advise anyone who continues to use them to read the fine print very carefully and watch out for deceptive descriptions.

No matter how many attempts I made they offered no explanation so I've assumed what the restaurant told me is accurate. They had stated that they made several attempts to contact LivingSocial with no response. I have purchased several services from Living Social/Groupon. They allow companies to make up crazy rules in fine print that make it almost impossible to use the discount and won't give you your money back. For instance, you purchase a massage, you call to make the appointment and the hours of the company is from 10-4 Monday-Friday only. If you work, how can you do that. Or like the carpet cleaners who in small print charge $10 for hallways even though you paid for 7 areas and only used 5. Do yourself a favor and save your money. I used it and paid the difference but then emailed Living Social today to let them know that they really should include that in the ''fine print''. I got a response back from customer service apologizing for not being able to use my voucher, which I did use it and that it was trade-able... That was not at all what I wrote in to them about. They obviously didn't even read my complaint and suggestion. I think that it is misleading to not have that information included in the fine print.

Bad customer care. After years of buying Living Social vouchers, I've had enough and am done with them. They say you have three days to cancel a purchase, however, they don't make it easy. If it's refundable in three days, then make it clear with a refund button, an email, or phone number that someone can actually get through on.

Very much like many of the reviews I have just read, Living Social has stolen my money. I have 3 different vouchers to 2 places that are no longer in business. Living Social refuses to credit back to me any money, I wasn't even asking for a refund. They just keep stating they cannot refund my money... even though that's not was I'm asking for. To them refund and credit are basically the same thing and they just won't do it. I'm out almost $100 and will never ever buy from Living Social again.

I purchased 5 vouchers for my son's bachelor party for tubing in Harper's Ferry. When I tried to book appointments, I was told the date I chose was a black-out date because it was a holiday weekend. I immediately called customer service and asked for a refund, but because it had been 4 days, not 3, they refused to do so. I tried again today on day 5, with similar results. Yet the message on the phone is that the company wants customers to have an exceptional experience. That message is inaccurate. It should be removed.
The first representative I spoke to said he would give me LivingSocial credit (which I do not want, but thought it was better than nothing), but he failed to do so. Hence, my call on day 5. The customer reps like to lecture customers about reading the policies. I'd like to lecture them on good customer service. Three days is insufficient time for refunds, as most people are working and have other responsibilities. Do not buy anything from LivingSocial. You have been warned.

I purchased 2 vouchers from Living Social and had a terrible experience with both. First was for an oven clean which cost £29 from Living Social then an additional £35 directly to the company. The company canceled the clean then stated it would probably never happen so they would refund me - this was 5 weeks ago and I now cannot get through to the company and Living Socials response is 'It's not our problem'.
I still haven't received a refund and I am now trying to dispute this through my bank. Before I knew how bad this experience would be I ordered a mattress that, when it arrived, was nothing like the description and again I had to spend a ridiculous amount of time trying to get the mattress collected and a refund but again Living Social didn't care. I believe they should accept responsibility for the companies they advertise. After my last conversation with a very surly customer service adviser I will never use this company again and I recommend no one else does.

I had a very negative experience when contacting customer service. Every time they emailed me back, they would cut and paste a response from their website. In my final email, I asked them to please respond to my question instead of giving me information I could have read from their website. While I was browsing their website, I purchased a deal by mistake for $20. When I contacted them after realizing that I had purchased the deal, I explained the situation and told them it was a mistake and I did not need the service nor live in the area. Keep in mind that they offer refunds for 3 days; when I found out it was on day 5.
I have a business and have used sites like this before, but never Living Social. I realize they pay the company a portion, but I find it hard to believe that they would have already paid the company the $10 in 5 days. I was surprised to see that so many other people have had complaints in dealing with this company. I would think for such a low amount of money they would be concerned with wanting to keep a customer instead of keeping the $10 they get from their half of the deal. I am left with a negative impression of this company and their policies, and would encourage others to be very careful. There are too many other websites such as this to purchase deals from; Groupon has most of the same ones anyways.

He gave me a window between 900 am and 11:00 am. Well Mr. Extreme Clean never showed or called to reschedule. My husband and I both took time off from work for this service. I was so frustrated. I immediately contacted LS for a refund. They said it would be processed but I could only get a credit/voucher since it was beyond the seven day window. I didn't like it but I read their refund policy and had to deal with that. I figured once I got the credit and used it on something else, I would close out my account with LS and be done with them.
Well, about two days later I received an email telling me my coupon had been redeemed. What? I contact LS again and was told to tell them that the coupon had not been redeemed and I wanted a refund of my purchase and I was told that this was their process to show the coupon was redeemed when the refund is being processed. Under the old policy, when the "paid portion" of your LivingSocial purchase was good up until the date on which the "promotional value" expired and you could receive a full refund of your "paid portion". And AFTER the "promotional value" expired you would receive an exchange value of your "paid portion" in Deal Bucks which could be used for LivingSocial purchases.
WARNING: The NEW LivingSocial refund policy sounds the same but an actual refund is only good for 24 hours, then the application of an exchange value is only good for 7 days, and after that you do NOT get any refund, contrary to the stated "paid value never expires" advertised. Since after 7 days what you get is only a credit for services from the merchant, in the amount of the "paid portion". Since you want to cancel the deal with the merchant, what good does a credit toward service with the merchant do? It is a very deceptive refund policy. Unless you are absolutely sure you will be happy with the merchant services, do NOT count on any performance guarantee or refund from LivingSocial under their new policies. The many complaints already documented on this ConsumerAffairs site, confirm that. The photo shows receipt on the last day of the old refund policy, which changed after Nov. 21, 2016.

I was told by him that I could get a full refund by LivingSocial Austin.
I did not want to get a credit with LivingSocial, as this was a service I wanted and I could not use it. I called a representative at the company to talk about what to do. Two weeks went by with no notification that the refund was sent back to PayPal. So I called again, only to be told that they cannot give me a refund - as they only refund within a 7-day period. I repeated to her what the circumstances were and that I didn't see how they could keep the money in their own credit, when I was not able to get the service I paid for through no fault of my own.
The representative basically that I could "Just buy something else on LivingSocial as they have lots of options to choose." I said I already have a couple of credits of things I did cancel myself that I have never used. I am not a shopper and spender and I want the money returned to PayPal. She continued to tell me the same thing and would not allow me to speak to someone in charge above her. She said that is their rule and they are sticking to it, no exceptions, even though I was told just the opposite two weeks before by another representative of their company, and also the company that came to my house that was unable to do the service I bought and paid for.

I was trying to purchase a piece of monogrammed jewelry and wasn't sure order was going through. They don't send verifications and keep your credit card info. On file. Anyway without my realizing it LS charged me 4 times for one item. When I got my bill and notified them they said that it had been longer than 7 days and would not refund my money but gave me Deal Bucks. Beware of buying from them and Beware of letting them have access to your credit card. The whole process appears to be somewhat crooked. They say I can't use the deal bucks online without first them access to my credit card?

I paid for a service with Living Social and the provider was not there after driving 35 minutes to the appointment (total time 3 hours out of my day). I contacted Living Social 3 X (after 35 - 45 minute hold time!) and was met with arrogance and no regard for giving me credit on my credit card. The supervisor was nasty and basically said she did not care and would not return a credit on the credit card. I said it was between Living Social and the provider. The provider was not there and did not honor the agreement and I should not be penalized. The supervisor showed no concern and was abrupt and arrogant. I will never do business with Living Social. Have had a very different experience with Groupon. Buyer beware - Living Social has shown me in no uncertain terms that they really do not care about the customer. It is all about making money even if the terms are not upheld. Extremely disappointed and will never do business with them again.

I went to the site purchased a basket but at check out they charge a surcharge of $14.99! So the $15.00 you think you are getting free you are actually paying at the check out SCAM!!! I called Living Social to get a refund but was hung up on four times as they kept saying they couldn't hear me. The fifth person I spoke with was rude and stated they were busy so I needed to talk fast! Seriously!! I hung up the phone, requested my refund online, deleted my phone app, and I will NEVER use Living Social again! Good job at destroying your company!

I recently started using Living Social (Groupons) to order items because of the Holidays. I purchased a Queen size hypoallergenic, waterproof mattress pad mid November (2016). When I received the package approximately two weeks later, it was the wrong size. While Living Social roots that refund is easy, it is NOT!! You cannot request a refund via their website unless you have a voucher otherwise you must call customer service. I waited 32 minutes before I spoke to a customer service representative who informed me that the only option was to re-purchase the mattress pad and return the incorrect size using a label she generated (I wouldn't classify this process as easy - cumbersome, yes!). She PROMISED to send the return label by the end of the business day - for the record, she did not!
At the end of November, I re-ordered the SAME mattress pad and when it arrived I crossed my fingers - It was the right size; BUT IT WAS NOT WATERPROOF!! This time around it took 52 minutes to get to the customer service rep (Trina) who promptly apologized for the error but only told me that I would have to re-order again. Why would I? It's now December 19th and my company from out-of-town will be here in 2 days with their small non-potty-trained kids on my new mattress. Shame on Living Social for (1) having a cumbersome return process, (2) having poor quality service and (3) for not empowering your CS Reps to make decisions to promptly remedy the situation. They are certainly no Amazon!! Dissatisfied in Albany, NY

They do not use quality merchants, they do not stand by their customers. They trap you into Deal Bucks instead of giving you an actual refund. I ended up with a huge credit, so I started ordering stuff just to burn it up before they take that away too. So far the services that I received have been good (chimney cleaning and power washing), however, merchandise never gets shipped and then I end up with even more credit. I am very frustrated because I am an online shopper and find this website to have the worst customer service ever. Their refund policy is a load of crap too. How dare they hold my money hostage. I have bills to pay and do not need to waste it on stuff I don't even need. Wise up people, you will not have my business in the future. It is just a matter of using up that credit then "see ya!"

Bought 5 deals for custom wood cutting boards, went to use them to order Christmas gifts and even paid additional for shipping and the merchant company has been completely non-responsive for over a month! Order has yet to ship and they have yet to reply to 1 of my 4 emails sent (and they don't have a phone valid number). So I thought I better call Living Social to help them protect themselves against companies like this treating their customers poorly and negatively the relationship/confidence customers may have now in using Living Social. Living Social seemed to think it was no big deal, they were not concerned that I was unable to use the vouchers I purchased and were unwilling to give me a refund!! I was shocked!
I will never feel comfortable using Living Social again and will make sure everyone I know steers clear of them! Shocking that Living Social lets their merchants treat the traffic they send them like this and that they are okay promoting bogus companies!! The carpet company called me the morning that I had an appointment and said they would be at my house in an hour or so. When they hadn't shown up an hour after they were supposed to I called Eric back using the number on my caller ID. I left a message on his voicemail twice and still haven't heard from him. I called directly to the company and James said he would call Eric, and call me back. I'm still waiting on that phone call.
I called LS to tell them the company never showed up and I wanted my $29 refunded so I could use it towards getting a reputable company to clean my carpet. Of course they refused to send my money back and they don't seem to be concerned that they have a company who is advertising with them that is obviously a fraud, and they're still advertising. After reading the other LS complaints there has got to be something we can do as consumers to stop this fraud from LS and from the companies that are advertising, getting paid, and not delivering the goods. Today is 12/11/16. I tried to access my voucher today to sit down and take the course. When I went to "My Vouchers" it wasn't there. So I thought I would contact Living Social to sort this out. I went looking for a "Contact Us" link. No such link exists. I figured they would offer me some deal bucks or credit to use on another voucher. They trotted out their policies and said "too bad, you are out of your money." I was surprised because I am a good customer and when this happened with a Groupon, they immediately refunded the money I paid. Also, it says "Paid Value DOES NOT EXPIRE". Very deceptive. I purchased a $70 voucher for a vendor who - after several attempts at contact - had gone out of business. LS issued me a credit to be used for a future purchase. (Yay!)
I used the $70 credit towards a $250 purchase with a different vendor. Despite several attempts to schedule an event (this particular vendor wanted 3-4 weeks' lead time) - the vendor could not accommodate an agreeable date before the voucher expired. When I contacted said vendor, they told me that I would need to 'work it out' with LS. When I called LS the first time, they created an issue # and asked me to email them the details. I did so but did not hear back. When I called LS a month later, they informed me that I would need to settle the matter with the vendor, never acknowledging that we had spoken the month prior. By this time, not only had my $70 credit 'expired', but the $250 I paid for a new voucher can no longer be used. Long story short: I'm out $320... and out of patience. While I was not thrilled about having to wait that long to redeem something I already paid for, I agreed and scheduled the cleaning. My cleaning was scheduled for Tues the 15th.
Monday the 14th I had not heard from the company since I called to schedule. Therefore, I called the company to confirm. I was told I the computer was down to call back later. I did, but no one answered. I left a voicemail, but my call was not returned. I called again the morning of my appointment. The guy said he would call me back. Of course, he didn't so I called again. They gave me the runaround and eventually stopped answering my calls. I got through to him one last time, and he stated he could not reach the cleaning people so I needed to reschedule. I refused because the experience was already shady in my opinion. I told the guy I was going to contact Living Social for a refund.
I called Living Social and was told my voucher had already been redeemed by the company, but they would send it to the escalation department to get me a refund. I was told they would contact me via email. I waited a week to hear from them. They never contacted me. I called back, and they told me the merchant services said they called the Saturday prior to my appointment (Monday the 14th), and I didn't return the call. They did not even have the right date or time for my appointment, and I never received a phone call or voicemail from anyone. I had to call them. Living Social said since they were getting the story from the merchant Sevices they could not help me. The vendors could be doing this to who knows how many people.
They refused to give me a refund or credit. They didn't even offer for me to have the people come out and actually perform the service I paid for. I was told there wasn't anything they could do. Due to the voucher being recently expired they said they literally could not do anything for me. I understand a refund cannot be processed but how about deal bucks back, credit? Sometime in September, or before, I scheduled AWO Services to come and do 4 hours of residential cleaning on October 12 at noon. Less than an hour before noon on the 12, AWO contacted me to tell me that she had a family emergency and could not come. I asked her when she would like to reschedule for and she gave me the date of Saturday, October 15 at 11 am. On October 15 at 11:15, I texted and emailed her to see if she was still coming.
I never received any response from her that day or any day after that. I contacted LivingSocial on the 17th to request a refund as the service was never performed. The voucher was marked redeemed by the merchant on October 8, despite the service never having been performed. I told customer service on the 17th that this was incorrect.
Customer service told me they would escalate the matter and, on the 18th, I received an email from LivingSocial stating that the merchant had been contacted, and had verified that the voucher was marked as redeemed in error, and that the merchant would mark it as unredeemed so that I could use it. I contacted LivingSocial again on the morning of the 18th as, based on the prior issues, I am no longer interested in doing business with a merchant that does not think my time is important enough to let me know when she will not be coming for an appointment time that she rescheduled for.
I was told by this customer service agent that no refund is available, except in deal bucks, on any deal more than 7 days after purchase which, for a deal that can be used for 90 days, is a ridiculous policy, especially when the service is never performed. At any rate, I was also told that I should contact the merchant and have them mark the voucher as unredeemed.
It is ridiculous that I should have to do so when I have had a bad experience with the merchant AND LivingSocial has been told by the merchant that the voucher was incorrectly marked as redeemed; however, I did contact the merchant, and, in the first contact since Wednesday the 12th, she told me she had marked the voucher as unredeemed.
I immediately contacted LivingSocial and was told that the voucher still had not been marked unredeemed and, in order to get the deal bucks, I would have to call back "maybe tomorrow" and see if the matter had been marked unredeemed. It is absolutely unacceptable that (1) I will have to call 4 times to get deal bucks for a deal that never occurred because the merchant I was put in contact with through LivingSocial is unreliable, especially when I the merchant has already confirmed to LivingSocial that the voucher should not have been marked as redeemed; (2) that I was told to contact a merchant with whom I have had a poor experience, as it suggests that I, as the customer, am lying about whether the service was performed; and (3) that LivingSocial will not issue me a refund to my credit card for this poor experience with a merchant they have decided to do business with and put forward as a reliable servicer.
I will be telling anyone I can about this poor experience and recommending that they not use LivingSocial or AWO Services, as my experience has been that it is my job to get the merchant to do the right thing, and LivingSocial is failing to give me a refund when one is clearly due. I just wanted this to all be in writing and, since there is no option to email about a refund that I could find, thought this might be the place to do it. And the 2nd time that LivingSocial has tried to say "too bad" instead of recognizing the intent and assisting in resolving the issue. To be fair, there was user error involved both times. The first time we tried, I was actually on a food tour of DC with a friend on a LivingSocial offer. While on the tour, we met another couple and started talking about a new LivingSocial deal for the tasting experience at Rogue 24. The other couple used my link to purchase their deal, but purchased both of their deals together, not realizing it had to be 4 separate credit cards.
I called LivingSocial immediately, was able to give them the purchaser names and purchase dates of all 4 purchases, and explained the situation. They pointed out the error, at which point I asked them if they could grant the deal anyway, or if we could transfer the funds for one of the deals to another credit card, but they refused. Their solution was to instead offer to refund us the deals altogether, and just have us not visit Rogue 24. Odd? I thought so. Instead of giving us 4 deals for the price of 3 ($300 total) under the Me + 3 Deal, they preferred to return all our money and keep $0. Lesson learned during this experience: make sure to ALWAYS use 4 credit cards to purchase the 4 deals.
Fast forward a few years, and a friend and I purchased a Skydiving Deal through LivingSocial... again an expensive deal still at $159 at discount. My friend successfully purchased his deal using my personal email link (we had discussed doing this ahead of time in case we had other friends want to join us later so we could take advantage of the Me + 3) and I got the confirmation email. We purchased our deals in February 2016. It wasn't until June 2016 that we convinced two other friends to join us, primarily because we said that we could recoup some of the costs when a 4th person purchased the deal.
When the 3rd and 4th purchased their deals, I was concerned that I did not get the same confirmation email that they had purchased deals using my link, and I called LivingSocial a few days later to ask them about it. I made a point of calling immediately because I knew we had a 7 day window to request a refund on these deals if we were not going to receive the Me + 3 deal.
When I spoke to the customer service representative, she said it can take up to 30 days to process the refund. I said that was fine, but did it also take up to 30 days to get the email confirmation that a friend had purchased their deal using my link, because I had received the first email confirmation back in February almost immediately, and here it had been 2-3 days already. She said yes, and to just wait 30 days. I expressed further concern that 30 days would put me outside my window of being able to do anything about it, and she reassured me the issue was just that it needed time to process. Not surprisingly, the email confirmations never came, and never did the $159 discount. I called back in August, and attempted to email them. And called again on September 20.
The representative, Lauren, was polite throughout our call, but was providing me incorrect information. She kept claiming that after purchasing their deals, my friends would also have to "register" and after much back and forth of me asking her what they had to register for, she said a LivingSocial account. I told her that they all had LivingSocial accounts, and had all successfully purchased their SkyDiving deals using their LivingSocial accounts as I had all of their purchase dates AND voucher numbers. So I kindly told her she was mistaken and this was not the issue.
She then proceeded to assess the situation further and provide a new response, reading a comment that was apparently entered into my account from a previous call. I told her that the comment was incorrect and nobody had informed me they were entering such a comment, and again after much back and forth, she realized she was reviewing comments related to my first Me + 3 issue back in 2012 or 2013 (she told me the comments didn't have dates on them).
I finally interrupted and told her AGAIN that I was concerned the issue was that I had provided the wrong link to my friends, a link FROM LivingSocial in my email from LivingSocial, but varying slightly from another link in another email saying this is your personal link. She then agreed that yes, that was the issue, but that it was required that that link be used. I reiterated that I understood that, but that was why I had called in June (June 7 I believe it was - I have it in my records) within 7 days of purchase so that, if we had made such an error, we could request a refund and either repurchase using the correct link, or just not have our 4th friend join us, as they could not afford the full $159 deal.
After some additional back and forth, Lauren asked me to send an email with the names, voucher numbers, purchase dates, and any other supporting documentation to their customer support email, and gave me a Case # to use as the Subject line when I submitted. I sent that email on September 20. And I still have not heard anything back by email, phone, or otherwise from LivingSocial.
I have spent over $3000 on LivingSocial deals over the past 4 years, and obviously enjoy many of the deals they offer. However, my experience with Customer Service has never been pleasant. As with other reviewers on this website who requested refunds after having trouble contacting vendors or being refused service by vendors, I have also faced a lot of pushback from LivingSocial in offering these refunds. And furthermore, when they do offer the refund finally, they always try to give me Deal Bucks instead.
If they are unable to resolve this latest Me +3 issue for me in a very timely manner, I, unfortunately, will be shutting down my LivingSocial account, and spreading the word to my friends encouraging them to do the same. Groupon, Travelzoo, and many other sites out there offer comparable deals and much better customer service. And after years working in the customer service industry myself, I appreciate and fully believe that customer service makes or breaks a business.

I purchased a voucher from Living Deals in May for a hotel break. When I rang the hotel, no dates were available. I wrote to LivingSocial for a refund and was told they needed to contact the hotel. The hotel then offered dates in an upgraded room for an extra £100. To cut a very long story short, after many emails and fruitless telephone conversations, I wrote to Living Deals to tell them my contract was with them and not the hotel, they were unable to fulfill the contract and if I did not receive a refund I would go to the small claims court. This would have cost me £25 but I was determined to do that. A refund was then given. Moral of the story - don't ever buy anything via LivingSocial but if you do/have, always remember that LivingSocial are YOUR merchant and not the company that is going to provide the product.

I purchased a voucher through LivingSocial to have my windows cleaned by 4 Seasons Window $ Blind in Boise, ID. After numerous calls which were not returned (this was over a two month period), one appointment for which he didn't show and a final phone call telling me his truck was in the shop and that's why he didn't show, but he would get back to me as soon as he had a vehicle, I called LivingSocial. I was told I was past the refund period and in fact the voucher was expired so there was nothing I could do with them. I was certainly welcome to continue trying to get the service, for which I paid, from the vendor.
I have since read several reviews of 4 Seasons and find that I am not the only one who has been cheated out of their money, either directly buying from 4 Seasons, or from buying a voucher through LivingSocial. LivingSocial should have some way of vetting the vendors they advertise, or withholding the money from them until the service has been provided. I feel I was not only cheated by 4 Seasons, but cheated by LivingSocial. I will not purchase any other vouchers from them and will recommend my friends beware. It appears this vendor has done the LivingSocial thing before and cheated customers, and LivingSocial continues to allow him to sell his services through them. I feel both LivingSocial and 4 Seasons are cheating people.

Purchased a voucher for house cleaning thru OCD Clean in Garner NC. Vendor would NOT return calls to make appt. Found vendor on Internet w/ similar name but different city. Said he had received numerous calls from LivingSocial customers. It was not his cleaning service, but thought the vendor in Garner had gone out of business. I immediately requested refund from LivingSocial. Too much time had elapsed so I could only receive Deal Bucks. Days later saw another LS deal for house cleaning services. Thought my deal bucks would be credited to purchase but they were not. No big deal but when I looked at my acct, the new vendor - Cleanpro, redeemed my voucher the VERY same day I purchased it. WTH? I didn't even have time to make an appt.
I have called LivingSocial NUMEROUS times over the past two months. I keep being told my concern has been 'escalated' and I must await their investigation. I now have @ $150 tied up w/ Living Social vouchers. No one there will call me back and apparently their house cleaning vendors are all scams. I don't want any more deal bucks. I want ALL my money back and LivingSocial should PAY ME for all the time I've wasted dealing with this crap. Buyer BEWARE. I think LivingSocial is just as crooked as the services they advertise.

Bought a home window washing deal from a local company back in June. Called to set up appointment, and when he didn't show, I called to check in. Had to leave a message. Called for three days before he answered his phone. He didn't have a reason for not showing, but rescheduled for the next week. Of course that put me past the 7 day cut off for a Living Social refund, but at the time I wasn't too worried - I actually really wanted my windows washed. Now it is three months later and he has been a no show four times and will not respond to phone calls. Said he was going through a divorce and had to cancel one to meet with his attorney. The last straw was him telling me his son was in the ER, but as I look through Yelp and our local business bureau reviews (which I should have done BEFORE I bought this deal), I see that he has used his son being in the ER as an excuse for multiple people over the last year.
I called Living Social today to try to get a refund - I do not want their Deal Bucks as I am rarely interested in anything they post. The person on the phone said no. I asked to talk to supervisor. She said no. I begged and pleaded and had a valid case that a reasonable human would have given a refund for - a guy who doesn't run a reputable business is different than me just not following through on the voucher. I asked how it's possible that the window washing company has a 97% thumbs up rating when 8 people have posted poor reviews on Yelp and 18 have posted poor reviews on the local Better Business Bureau. They said they didn't know, and there is no way for me to voice my "vote" for a poor rating as much as I have scoured their website. They didn't care that he was a no show and that he is not running a reputable company. There is just no way I will do business with Living Social again.

I purchased a voucher that included a photo service and digital photos. The service was provided but not the photos. The photos were the reason for the purchase. I called LivingSocial the first time and was on hold over an hour, and was told someone would contact me. I never received a call or email. I called a second time waiting over 30 minutes and then after being put on hold over 20 minutes was told I had to deal with the merchant direct. I explained I had tried every possible avenue to reach the merchant with no luck. They said basically, "Too bad." The worst part is they are still selling the same vouchers. Based on the other reviews I read, poor customer service is how this company operates. I wish I would have researched LivingSocial before buying anything from them. If you are a Groupon client then you expect a guarantee for purchased items and to be able to get a refund when you cannot use something because the promised service or item is not as described. This is not the case with LivingSocial and so a "deal" that you purchased is not refunded for any reason and you wind up with "Deal Bucks" even if you no longer want to do business with this crooked company. I have not pursued reporting them to the FTC because the amounts are small but they do add up and I am considering doing this at the present time. I really gave zero stars because there is no customer service.

I ordered a set of queen size sheets from LivingSocial. The sheets that arrived came with no labels or anything that would indicate the company or materials. They looked nothing like what I ordered and were really poor quality. They were so thin you could see through them and they had cheap, almost vinyl like stripes running down them. The FIRST time I called to return them, I waited over 40 minutes to get through. I was told that a return shipping label would be emailed to me within 24 hours.
I was also told that I would be out an additional $7.99 for return shipping even though the sheets I received were not the ones I ordered. Seems like a clever little racket they have going as the fine print says, "they are not responsible if you receive merchandise that doesn't match the description." What? What I order should always match how it's described! I never received the return label and called back for a SECOND time four days later. This time I waited 35 minutes to get through. The woman I spoke with promised me she was expediting the return and that I would receive the return label within 4 hours. She also said she would follow up with me the next day to make sure I had received it.
Another day past and I still did not have the label nor did anyone contact me. I call a THIRD time. Waited 35 minutes on the phone when it disconnected my call. Called a FOURTH time. Waited another 30 minutes and then spoke to the rudest customer service rep I've ever had the pleasure of speaking with. When I asked to speak with a manager she told me there were none there. You may save a few bucks ordering from LivingSocial, however, if anything is wrong with your order you will lose any money saved in the amount of time you spend trying to resolve the issue with the company. I will NEVER do business with them again and urge anybody reading this to spread the word.

There is NO email or on-line chat support, only the phone number during business hours (they won't even tell you what time zone they're in--it's central). I placed so many calls about not receiving our packages and had to whine before they'd even consider refunding my money.
Finally they said they would, but I noticed on my credit card statement, they only refunded 1/2 on one of the packages....more phone calls, more unnecessary time for something that could have been handled expeditiously over the website or via email. Thank goodness Discover went to bat for me. One of the reps (after more whining) agreed to give me a $20 promotion code, which I found out later didn't work. As an introduction, I had to search deep into Google to find a working contact number for Living Social. They have several numbers listed online that do not work and I could not find a contact number or email on the original voucher. This inquiry process took me approximately 1 1/2 hours between Living Social, the merchants, and back to Living Social. I lost valuable time and money. On Aug. 11, 2016, I called Living Social to verify the value of certain vouchers, that I had purchased, and which ones had been used.
Living Social has truly shown me that they have very bad company policies. They penalize customers for not using the promotional value and make it very hard to honor vouchers that could receive some type of credit, based upon conditions beyond your control. I purchased a voucher in 2012 to the Q hotel (Kansas City, Missouri), and found out the hotel was renovating their facilities. I eventually lost full promotional value of the massage that was incorporated with the one night stay, dining credits. Furthermore, it was a long time before they were back in operation. I was fine with just the one night stay, while willing to add an extra day or two.
Periodically, I would call Living Social and ask them about the use of my voucher, and they told me that it was good until July 2, 2017. If I had not called Living social and the merchants periodically to verify their worth, and if the vouchers were completely expired, I would not be concerned about the use of the vouchers on this day. Unfortunately, the Q hotel went out of business and Living Social told me that I basically lost out on $103.00. I also asked them to tell me the value and use of my Palms Place Hotel voucher ($141.00), which the hotel stated that they could not check the voucher number or their system will automatically redeem it. Note: on the voucher, it states that "paid value does not expire."
Well the Living Social reps stated that they can't do anything about finding the value of the voucher. I did not care about the promotional value or full paid value, basically, I wanted some type of honor system for services. I have about five vouchers, ranging from $30-$159.00 each, that were not used within the promotional dates, yet they are within the paid value dates. I became so weary of their policies, that I told them to keep the money and I will give a very strong review of their services. The team leader from Living Social wanted to focus on the 2012 purchase and promotional value dates; nevertheless, I have vouchers that has "never expire" statements and paid dates that have not arrived.
Also, I had a living Social representative tell me that the promotional value expired, but I would have to call each individual merchant afterwards for the paid value part. There were more vouchers that the Living Social representatives were not helpful with. Overall, I lost all of my money, and they could not help me even with 1/4 or 1/2 the paid value. As of this day, I am not sure of the value of my vouchers, but Living Social has my money, but they no longer have my patronage. I am completely done with Living Social, forever!!!

Ironically, later on I found the same product was sold at less than $10 in many other websites. They just don't allow you to cancel the order once you click on the purchase button. Even you connect with them shortly after the purchase. I have to call customer service to return it.
A few days I received my item. It looks old and cheap. After I returned the item with return label and confirmed that it was delivered, I never receive any refund. Customer service almost doesn't exist. I called them 8 times. Each time waited 30-60 minutes, and was only be able to talk to representative one time. I would not use LivingSocial any more. Five days later I was notified that the vendor did not honour may request as I either used it or have a reservation. At no time had I heard from the vendor. They advised me to contact the vendor.
I tried again to call the vendor with finally getting a message that I text them. I did and asked to cancel my request for dates that I had requested. Still no one called. I finally in desperation asked if they would book for the two nights in July 27 and 28th and still no return call. I was finally able to reach help at Living Social, a woman who was going to contact the vendor. I finally got a message from the vendor's daughter that he had been ill and were unable to call us. They could not give us a time we could travel and use the reservations but said they would refund our money. We still have received no advice from Living Social. I finally got someone to pick up today! I asked why the call time was estimated at 10 minutes when I had to wait over an hour. Her unapologetic reply, "we have a high call volume." She put me on hold twice, but what's 5 and 10 more minutes when you've been waiting over an hour already? I was told that my issue was escalated to merchant services and someone would call me back in 2-3 business days. I asked for a contact number, confirmation number, something that I could use to track the issue. They said they don't have anything like that.
I understand that this woman must deal with a whole host of very unsatisfied customers, but I was being appreciate of that fact and kind to her. After 10 mins, I hang up because I'm headed to a meeting. I get an email later telling me my LivingSocial account had been credited for $32 in Deal Bucks. What?!
I call the next day and spend another hour on the phone. I explain to the rep that I was credited for the full amount to my LivingSocial account rather than be refunded the way I paid. I also explained that I knew someone who supposed to go to the concert who got an email, without calling, saying she was getting a full refund to her method of payment. She apologized, saying I should have gotten that email and didn't and said she needed to get a supervisor to cancel the Deal Bucks and refund my card. I then asked if I would get an email, alerting me to the fact. She said I would get one if I wanted. Why wouldn't I when the other person got one without requesting it?

I tried to contact Best Tours through both email and phone and all responses were automated and I was never able to get a refund or credit.
I called LivingSocial and told them that I bought the voucher and tried to honor all the terms and the vendor continued to cancel the tours. I asked Lilian, the Sr. Manager of Customer service and she said the voucher has since expired, so she could not give me a credit or refund and that I needed to contact Best Tours. I informed her that I tried numerous times to contact them and had yet to actually talk to a live person. She told me that is it now my problem to get a refund from Best Tours. Lilian was very rude and just kept repeating that if the voucher expires then she can't do anything even if I tried to use the voucher unsuccessfully. I could talk to the people who negotiated and worked out the deal with Best Tours and she informed me that I can't talk to them. Living Social obviously does not check the companies out that they are working with.
I check YELP reviews and there were numerous complaints about the LivingSocial vouchers for the Best Tour Company whereas many people had the same problem as I did and some even stated that when they finally did get a tour that wasn't cancelled that either the guide didn't show up, or the few people who did actually take the tour said it was not worth the value because they barely gave you any samples to try. This review is from a Merchant's perspective. I have been using LivingSocial for last 4 years off and on selling daily deals for my outdoor service. They did a fantastic job for 3.5 years. Great sales, decent revenue program with no upfront capital expenditure for marketing. They did a great job with customer service for the longest time. I have a 100% customer satisfaction rating on my business end with LivingSocial clients. Up until about 3 months ago, I had never heard any voucher purchaser clients ever complain about LivingSocial customer service. As I understand from reading online articles, between November 2015 thru March 2016 it seems LivingSocial laid off over half its workforce, closing customer service locations, sold off business divisions and is downsizing its headquarters staff. I had hoped the new CEO would pull things together, but it appears he is a total failure.
All customer service and prior merchant phone numbers are disconnected, there are no replies to any emails sent to Merchant Services. Unfortunately, my good business name is now linked to LivingSocial vouchers sold offering my services at a 50% DISCOUNT and LivingSocial owes me thousands of dollars. LivingSocial skipped making 2 payments to my business during June/July 2016. The payment they finally just sent me is short a few hundred. They are in breach of contract. Therefore, I hate that I have to do this, but I am being forced into telling anyone who has recently purchased a voucher that has not been redeemed to call LivingSocial to get a refund. I cannot offer my services for FREE if LivingSocial is not paying me on time nor paying the correct amounts per our contract. My review would describe 25+ minute call wait times at both the beginning of the call as well as when one is put on "hold." My review would also describe lies and misrepresentation by both LivingSocial and Soaring Adventures. Their game is to make sure they pay their legal department well while they continually scam the public. My review would also include the use of other tactics for fraud used by these two companies if I believed ConsumerAffairs would actually be effective in investigating or having the FTC actively do so. After reading the many reviews about LivingSocial it is obvious that no company or agency really cares, your business included. You can all go to hell.

I have been a LivingSocial member for 5+ years. In the beginning we received excellent deals of real value from reputable companies. They included a facial for my sweet wife, concert tickets, a mosquito control service trial (which we still use today) and a bed and breakfast discount package among others. Again, excellent promotional opportunities. However, in recent months, it seems the quality of vendor and service has gone down dramatically. We recently bought a small set of earrings to try the company. They were barely worth the discounted rate of that; truly poor quality. We bought a voucher for a trial duct cleaning (like the mosquito control company) hoping to engage long term maintenance.
Not only were they virtually impossible to redeem from; once we thought we had, they never showed up for the scheduled appointment and don't answer the phone! In addition, LivingSocial has no practical means of contact. You can't send a relevant email or contact a human. Communications are carefully controlled and remarkably funneled. You go to the very limited options where they send you. This is the LivingSocial of today. I have written off the loss and unsubscribed from everything. Articles I have seen indicate they are suffering heavy staff layoffs. Makes sense now. If you want a good deal, do it the old fashioned way: search and research. There is no discount lunch. At least not through LivingSocial.

I had a merchant account with LivingSocial and ran a deal for our Bed and Breakfast with them. I had signed a contract for the deal to be extended, received the contract back from Living Social signed, and to my surprise, I get an email from my account manager stating, "sorry your deal has been removed". From this point on, the customers service left a lot to be desired. When they finally did respond to putting another deal back up, I was told that I had to run the deal for 12 months, which had never been the case. I was also told that they wanted the deal to be lowered to the least amount that I was willing to take. The final payment for some reason was set at 15 months from the day the deal started. I called about the incorrect payments and to voice Concern that I had to scroll thru a list of 187 deals to even find mine. I called 5 times over a period of a month to get the runaround every single time. Poor customer service indeed.

I purchased three separate services and two said they need to reschedule (truck malfunctions, running late, etc.) and then never showed up and one said that they could not fit me in for three months (which was when the offer expired). I went to get my money back and they said I could only get deal bucks! I don't want deal bucks because no one ever shows up! I want my money back and they will not give it to me! One time, ok vendor is a dud, three times and you start to look like a scam site!

Livingsocial charge different credit card, not my default one!! I set my discover as my default credit card rather than Citi credit card 2 years ago and continue make purchase for 2 years. My recent order was charged on my Citi credit card which I haven't see for 2 years. (Since I closed my Citi checking acct, then I don't use my Citi credit anymore and put it on a safe place.) The question is how Livingsocial charge the wrong card? It sounds impossible.

I sent for the Ecorox Bluetooth music player for what appeared to be a good deal from LivingSocial. The unit arrives, no box, no instructions, no USB adapter cord, etc. It was just the base player stuffed in a manila envelope. I've tried every adapter I have and none seem to be the right size (I looked up to find online instructions but nothing giving the type of connector). There was nothing in the ad that stated it would be sent in a state different than normal (none of the items the online instructions mention come with the unit). Now I don't even know if it works. Normally products with rechargeable batteries have some charge when they arrive, but I don't see a light turn on. Likely the battery's dead. They have a satisfaction guarantee, but it costs a significant portion of what the unit costs.

Should have known that $29.99 was too good to be true. Received the sheet set. Prewashed them. Put them on the bed. I've had bamboo sheets before, and the feel of these were different. EVERY TAG ON EVERY PIECE OF THE SET (Fitted Sheet, Flat Sheet, and Pillowcases) said 100% Polyester. There is NO bamboo fiber in this product - at all. Had planned on buying another set if these fit well. However, I will look for a true bamboo sheet set.

I'm not sure, but twice now after I have made a SL purchase has someone made fraudulent charges on my credit card number. First time I bought a solar recharger for my phone. This was followed with attempts to purchase air tickets to Dubai. This time I bought a Costco membership, shortly followed by use of the card in California. We're in Ohio. I have no proof; only coincidence. I think I'm finished with SL.
