TrustedChoice is a digital insurance marketing platform that helps customers find local independent agents. Agents help shoppers find the best prices for life insurance by evaluating offerings from up to 45 national providers. TrustedChoice also maintains an insurance provider directory with recommended providers and links to the companies’ websites.
Getting started with TrustedChoice is simple — just provide your ZIP code, name, age and gender, then answer these three questions:
- Have you used nicotine or tobacco in the last 12 months?
- If a provider requires it, are you willing to take a medical exam?
- What amount of coverage do you need?
This two-minute questionnaire ends with a list of local agents you can contact immediately, or you can request that they contact you. Agents follow up with a list of quotes to help you pick the best policy for your health profile and coverage needs.
If you’re not sure what coverage you need, TrustedChoice agents will work with you to find the right fit. The website provides information on three types of life insurance: term life, whole life and universal. Check out the company’s online resources and chat with a TrustedChoice agent to research your options and move forward with a coverage plan.
TrustedChoice Life Insurance types and coverage
TrustedChoice lists 45 providers to choose from. Because it can be difficult to sort through so many options, the website also provides educational materials to help you understand what kind of coverage you need.
The providers TrustedChoice recommends offer universal, term and whole life insurance.
- Term life insurance provides coverage for a limited time and pays out a benefit if the policyholder dies during that period. Term life policies require lower monthly payments than permanent coverage because the insurance company faces less risk.
- Permanent life insurance lasts the rest of the policyholder’s life, and its coverage is nuanced. Both types of permanent life insurance — whole life and universal — pay out death benefits and build up a savings account over the years, but customers with whole life policies have more flexibility to withdraw money from their accounts.
- Whole life insurance pays a portion of your income if you can’t work for an extended period because of an illness or injury.
- Universal life insurance gives you the flexibility to adjust certain aspects of your policy, like the death benefit and the premium.
TrustedChoice does not universally recommend one type of life insurance over another. Its life insurance questionnaire doesn’t let customers enter a preference — you must speak with an agent to choose.
In addition to term length, customers must also choose their payout amount. In the life insurance survey, customers can select coverage from $50,000 to $5 million.
TrustedChoice Life Insurance pricing
TrustedChoice Life Insurance agents consider your health profile and coverage needs when they gather quotes. Generally, younger, healthier people with less coverage pay significantly lower monthly premiums than those who are older or less healthy.
Here’s what an adult with healthy family history and habits might expect to pay:
Life insurance type | Monthly premium |
---|---|
Term life insurance | $20 to $100 |
Whole life insurance | $60 to $300 |
Universal life insurance | $50 to $200 |
TrustedChoice does not charge customers an additional fee to help them find the right insurance policy.
TrustedChoice Life Insurance FAQ
Are TrustedChoice insurance agents independent?
Yes. TrustedChoice insurance agents are independent brokers who are not affiliated with any national providers. Instead, they evaluate up to 45 insurers to find the best coverage for each client.
Where do TrustedChoice agents operate?
TrustedChoice agents are all over the country. After you fill out the life insurance survey, you should get a list of agents in your area.
Does TrustedChoice require a medical exam for life insurance?
TrustedChoice does not require a medical exam, but the insurance provider may. If you’d like a provider that does not require a visit to a doctor, indicate this preference on the life insurance questionnaire. Note that a provider that does not require a medical exam likely charges higher premiums than those that do.
Do we recommend TrustedChoice Life Insurance?
TrustedChoice is a good insurance agency for those who want quick, convenient access to offerings from a large number of insurers and prefer to work with an agent to go over quotes, get recommendations and customize their coverage. However, if you want to shop for policies on your own, you might be better served elsewhere.

TrustedChoice.com identified several agents including the one that I wound up using. Their site was pretty easy to use.
Using the website of Trusted Choice was very easy. I went to see if there was any life insurance company that will help us with my husband. I felt comfortable with the options they gave me.

I have life insurance with the government employment I have and I’m going to cancel it because I’m no longer going to be working there. It goes up and I can retain it, but I thought that searching with an independent agent was going be cheaper than what my life insurance would be with my work. Trusted Choice sent me some information through mail.
To have something to pay off my funeral costs, I put up that I needed insurance. I tried two insurance agents. The one in Northern California called me, so he was just right there, which I appreciate. He did a great job. He asked the right questions and he was very thorough, cordial and pleasant to talk to. Meanwhile, the agent from Riverside was bad. He called me, asked me what I needed, and we talked. His interaction was okay. It was just that I didn’t feel the time frame it took was proper. I was denied, but it took forever to get an answer. They called me back for my name four times then they asked my Social Security number and I left that several times. They kept calling me, and it took two months for them to finally respond. I asked another agent and she said it should take a couple of weeks.
My mom just passed away. I’m having an issue because nobody wanted to give me what I want with diabetes. I'm having a difficulty finding an agent that will work with me because everybody only wanted to give me a little bit, and not even enough to carry like a burial, ‘cause they only wanted to offer two like to $5000 coverage, and that’s not enough.
What TrustedChoice gave me was like they wanted me to see a doctor. Someone told me it’s no examination, but still, I have to go through it. And I don't get that. I just gave up. On top of that, I’m a truck driver and I'm out here on the road, and they give me the runaround. I was like, I’ll just wait and see when I’m able to look, ‘cause I’m hearing one thing. And then, when I’m searching through it, it’s another thing.
I saw from the state of California site that the type of agent that I was interested in working with could be found. I followed the link and it brought me to the Trusted Choice site. There were other matches that fit the criteria and then I selected the one in my immediate area. I was hoping that I could have a face-to-face. No matter how many times I asked for that, the agent sort of skirt. They didn't give me a direct answer if it would be possible or not. I hear from them every two months, asking me for more information and I provide it, but I'm not interested in working with them as they don't make me feel that they're responsive or they're interested in doing business with me. This is gonna be a lot of money that I'm gonna be paying for someone who sort of blows me off and doesn't prioritize me. But in terms of the site itself, it was an okay experience. I like the ease of navigation.
I have some very important outstanding court bills that I need to pay. I'm swamped with all these court bills and attorney bills. I called Trusted Choice to see if I could sell my life insurance. I left a message, but no one has called me back. Also, navigating the website was easy. It's not working out for me though. I've been searching and searching but I can't find anybody to sell it to.
I don’t have insurance at the moment and I’m looking for one. I used TrustedChoice's website and had no difficulties. I then got contacted by some insurance agents.
I searched online for the quickest way to find insurance, since mine had lapsed, and went with Trusted Choice as they were the first ones to call. They were helpful and the information I got was very helpful as well. It's just that their guy seemed to be in a hurry, like they were pressed for time. I wish I had more time to actually get a couple more quotes, but it was a good experience overall.
I went with TrustedChoice because I searched on the website. The navigation was like a plus 10-question survey. I had to take it. I really researched and took time finding out what's going on. It was a first time to see what will the outcome be. I've no complaints so far and I'm looking forward to receiving the policy.
