Travelers is horrible. They took $649.00 for me, refunded my 20 dollars, said it was my bank's fault but too stupid to realize they sent me a email that they only refunded only 20 instead of the whole amount.

I filed a homeowners insurance claim with Travelers after water damage made my home uninhabitable. I was approved for repairs but denied Additional Living Expenses (ALE) while my home was under construction. How does it make sense to approve repairs but refuse to cover the living costs during the repair period? I’ve gone through every proper channel—Travelers’ own appeal process, the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and my state’s insurance commission—yet I keep getting stonewalled. The Director of Property Claims, Blake **, has been involved from the start, yet Travelers still refuses to do the right thing.
Their excuse? They are using “vacancy” as a loophole to deny my ALE, despite my home being actively worked on using insurance money they provided. It’s a clear contradiction and bad faith insurance practice. Travelers loves to promote how they “care about their customers” and their “community efforts,” but when it comes time to actually help a policyholder in need, they stall, deny, and ignore. Do not trust them with your home or your family’s security. #BadFaithInsurance #TravelersFail #InsuranceFraud #HoldThemAccountable

Nothing but liars and dishonest people, cheap insurance quotes to sucker people in. 1st renewal raised rates $40 a month, called and asked why and their rep. told me the State Insurance Commissioner raised my rates, I knew that was a lie and I asked for a supervisor. Told him he was a liar as the state IC only approves rate increases, they don't tell companies when to raise their rates. Spoke to the supervisor about the lie and I asked who told him to tell that lie and she said the rep misspoke. 2nd renewal went up another $40 a month, never had a claim. Went back to previous company and I'm paying significantly less than the Travelers rates. Really dishonest people working here. When I called to cancel my 3 policies, they didn't even ask why I was canceling all 3 policies because they don't care. THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF AT RENEWAL TIME. AVOID THIS COMPANY.

Unfortunately, I was cut off before I could take the survey. If I had been able I would give the Rep I spoke with today on 12/26/24 a 10 star rating!!! He was excellent at solving my problem and went the extra mile to make sure everything would be resolved with a billing and clerical error. It was such a pleasure to speak with someone who wanted to give me the Best customer service and cared about how he represented Travelers. He deserves a big raise! Thank you Kevin! I will continue to use Travelers for all my insurance needs if they have employees such as you representing their product. A Huge Thank you!

If you're searching for an insurance policy, just keep on searching. They will be happy to provide you with a lower-priced policy rate, and then happily adjust it to more than the others with zero reason or explanation. We have NEVER had a claim, paid in advance, and been good consumers (lemmings) so there has been no reason for an increase. Less than 45 days from obtaining this policy, they decided that it should be increased nearly $200. Apparently they decided that a 1.5 story house is more costly to insure than a 2 story house (Their reasoning). Nothing they will do about it and basically you have the choice to accept it, or go elsewhere. Very fraudulent if you ask me. I hope I don't have to deal with their claims department before I find another company to replace them with.

We have been working with travelers insurance agency for quite some time. We pay our premiums every month faithfully. Never been late and just recently I traded my vehicle for a new vehicle at a car lot. We called. Travelers reported the change of vehicle. Our insurance agent failed to switch the VIN number as she’s done so many times before And wants to hold us responsible for the totaled out vehicle. She seems to think it would be best if we paid $20,000 out-of-pocket so that our insurance rates don’t skyrocket. LOL who in the hell says that to somebody for real. I’m sorry but as an insurance agent as an insurance company, you guys have a duty and a job to do and you failed to do that and because of that we are having to go through so much hardship. Mentally emotionally it’s exhausting. After everything that we’ve been through already. Thank you for being the most non-trusted insurance company we’ve ever been with.

We previously had California Casualty as our home and auto carrier through my job. In August they turned it over to Travelers. Fine. We found out at the end of September we did not have house insurance because they said we lived in a flood zone. Not true at all. So we had to scramble to find home insurance. Then yesterday we find out they canceled our car insurance because I called to ask a question. So we called to speak to a manager. She was rude and not helpful. She said it was canceled on 10/24 because some paper was not received. I sent the paper I received in the mail via email on the 31st.
Keep in mind we had a death in the family on that week and was planning to leave town and we returned on the 31st. She had a very "I don’t care" attitude, no remorse and said, "You have to send it again with your # in the subject line. Then I will send to underwriters but that wouldn’t guarantee reinstatement of your plan." Are we really supposed to drive around with nothing until you decide. This company is terrible. I have never been treated like this.

I do not know why people pay insurance if it hardly ever pays out (one of the biggest scams out there). I have needed a new roof for over a year now and this year and last year I put in a claim. Both times they won't pay out. Not even partially. For a roof leak in several spots in the house and damage to the roof. The only thing both years they were willing to pay for is my interior ceiling to be painted. Are you serious? My deductible is $1,000 and they think I'm going to pay them that for someone to come in and paint over some water spots on my ceiling. Makes zero logical sense. Painting spots on ceilings is also not going to stop a water leak and the ceiling is going to continue to leak and water spots will eventually show again. Even though I pay for homeowners' insurance, I still had to pay out of pocket to have my roof replaced. Insurance is literally good for nothing.

Roof was totaled by a hailstorm, claim filed, was told my adjuster would reach out to me to schedule an inspection....over a week went by and no contact. I called and left a message and he did not call me back for 2 days. Finally get a call, he can't come inspect my roof for another 10 days. Inspection is done, he says he will call me to go over the estimate breakdown and report once he's done writing it approximately 2-3 days later....a week goes by, I hear nothing, call him, he's got an out of office voicemail on. Look in my claims portal and they've already issued a check in my ex husband's name who doesn't live in the state anymore so I cannot cash it and there's no sign of the breakdown/estimate anywhere. I call customer service who forwards me the estimate and says they have canceled the check and will reissue in my name. So I scheduled my roof replacement.
A week goes by and I check the claim portal and the check with my ex husbands name is still showing. I call back and they tell me they cannot cancel the check and reissue it, my adjuster must do that. WHAT? You literally told me you canceled it while I was on the phone. Okay, so my adjuster never replies or answers calls/texts/emails. Finally get a hold of him and he tells me he can't reissue the check in my name only without my ex husband's written consent (via email). So that was a fight to get, finally get it, and now my adjuster is ghosting me AGAIN. His supervisor has a 2 week out of office message on his voicemail and my roof is due to be replaced next week and at this rate, I'm going to have to reschedule because they won't have a new check to me in time. I AM SO FRUSTRATED. This is atrocious customer service. Why can nobody in house help me? The adjuster never responds, I can't get the check I need to get the roof done. Worst experience ever. Not sure what I'm paying $3000 a year for. I will absolutely be changing insurance companies after this.

Travelers Insurance has very bad claims & customer service. I opened a claim when my home was hit by hail and strong winds from multiple tornadoes that were within 1 mile from my home over the past year. The adjuster and manager came out to inspect with the drone, said the hail was not big enough to cause the damage to my roof. They do admit that I had damage to my roof but are not willing to admit it was from the hail we had because their hail report says it was too small.
I personally found a report by the national weather service for my neighborhood that clearly shows over the last year, during the time period of my policy that we have had hail/wind that has been a range from half-dollar size, ping pong size, quarter size and Travelers is unwilling to accept this reality. I attempted to speak with a customer service personnel, a claims director, and the consumer affairs department at Travelers and just kept getting sent back to the adjuster and manager. I continuously showed proof that the weather that actually occurred at my home was different than the report they use and yet they still denied and unwilling to approve my claim that should be covered by my policy. I am frustrated because other homes around me covered by other insurances are getting their repairs and yet I am not. Travelers just deny a claim and as a customer you have no ability to dispute the denial of the claim.
I faced similar issues when I first signed up and they sent some third party to measure my home square footage, they measured it wrong and increased my premium, I then had to contest this error and had to show proof multiple times by going to my county board to obtain the plot information of my home. They will force unexpected increase in costs constantly and you need to contest and bring proof on ever level to not be over charged. Very unprofessional experience on every aspect as a consumer and would not recommend this to anyone that wants insurance with a company that cares about its customers.

My family home is currently insured with Travelers. In 26 years, we have had one roof replacement due to hail damage. Keep in mind, our house is 74 years old. Even though we receive compliments from neighbors, there is always something that could be bettered and we fix issues as finances allow without using debt. Travelers repeatedly makes demands about things such as peeling off some paint on our chimney, or about our old (uninsured) garage in back that are irrelevant to insured risk. I will soon cancel and self-insure. I don't accept bullying.

Most recently we had a problem with them with our homeowners insurance. They sent us a 30 day notice to replace our roof or our insurance would be canceled. I called the assigned adjuster several times. Turns out he wasn't even in the office for the week but his voicemail did not say that. I got another adjuster on the phone and told her the roof is only 11 years old but her answer was it doesn’t matter how old the roof is there is moss and some “dips”. ABSOLUTELY AVOID TRAVELERS INSURANCE AT ALL COSTS! (BECAUSE THE COSTS WILL BE ON YOU!) They will ignore you and your claim and communications in hopes of breaking your spirit and giving up. I would give 0 stars if I could! We have been in a hellacious claim purgatory for 3 ½ months now. We had a leak occur while we were away for Christmas. My husband noticed something when we got back we got on it right away. We called a plumber and were told we needed water damage mitigation to come as soon as possible.
When we received the estimate from Travelers it seemed extremely low. Once we got the bill from the mitigation company we noticed large discrepancies between it and the Travelers’ estimate. We requested for the estimate to be reassessed by Travelers (as we were told to do in this circumstance). We did all of this in a very timely manner as we were leaving in a month to temporarily relocate to Kenya for my work. A new person, Hayley, from Travelers was assigned our claim. After initial communication, Hayley stopped responding. After three weeks of constant calls and emails to Haley and her supervisor, Matthew, with no response or acknowledgement I called the customer advocacy line at Travelers who told me our claim was marked to be closed. This was so upsetting as we had been trying so hard to communicate with Travelers and contest our claim.
We have presented them with so much documentation and it is like pulling teeth to get them to work with us on anything. We are constantly met with silence from Travelers, and when we can get someone to talk to they are unhelpful and don’t engage with us, the mitigation company, or anyone we have tried to get to help mediate the situation. We feel so incredibly disrespected by Travelers we will be finding new home, auto, and valuables insurance as soon as we get back from Kenya! This has added such an extraordinary amount of stress during an already stressful time leading up to relocating our family halfway across the world and then struggling to manage it from Kenya.
We have a 6 month old and a two year old. My husband and I are both nonprofit workers. $2,000 isn’t much to Travelers, but it is a huge amount to us. It is a huge chunk of our savings and has a huge impact on our daily lives. This is unbelievable, we really tried to do everything right! We caught the leak early and likely saved Travelers and ourselves so much money by doing so! Both my husband and I have lost sleep over this due to the frustration and stress.

I had to deal with them because they were the insurance for the person that hit my car. They lied to my insurance that they spoke to me when they did not. Took 3 months for them to reply. Then refused to pay to get my vehicle to the same working condition as prior to the incident. (The driver's side mirror was hit and had to be replaced, but it affected my 360 camera view system - no longer usable). I have been without my vehicle an extra 2 weeks waiting for them to call me back. When a person did, he had no useful information other than the claim has been denied. He couldn't answer additional questions. I am tired of the run around. I used the cameras for parking all the time. I am writing to express my profound dissatisfaction and frustration with the handling of my homeowners insurance claim by Travelers Insurance. Despite the clear terms of my policy and the extensive documentation provided regarding the damage incurred due to a burst pipe during the winter, Travelers Insurance has consistently failed to honor their obligations and provide timely resolution. Approximately three months ago, my property sustained significant damage as a result of a burst pipe. Understanding the importance of promptly filing a claim, I reached out to Travelers Insurance immediately to initiate the process. However, instead of receiving the support and assistance I expected from my insurance provider during this distressing time, I have been met with obstruction, delay tactics, and an outright refusal to address the damages adequately.
One of the most concerning issues has been Travelers Insurance's persistent demand for multiple bids for repair work, despite the fact that I am well within my rights, as per state law, to select the vendor of my choice. This has needlessly prolonged the claims process, causing further inconvenience and distress. Despite providing a comprehensive bid from a reputable contractor, Travelers Insurance has arbitrarily rejected it, citing reasons that lack transparency and appear to be aimed at minimizing their financial obligation rather than fulfilling their contractual commitments to me, their policyholder.
Furthermore, the lack of communication and transparency throughout this ordeal has been deeply disappointing. Despite numerous attempts to seek clarification and resolution, I have been met with evasive responses and bureaucratic runarounds, leaving me feeling abandoned and unsupported by my insurance provider when I needed them the most. Moreover, I am deeply troubled by the frequent changing of adjusters assigned to my claim and the continual shuffling of my complaint from desk to desk within your organization. This constant turnover not only adds to the confusion and frustration but also serves to further delay the resolution of my claim. It has now been 87 days since the claim was reported, and yet there seems to be no end in sight to this ordeal.
It is imperative that Traveler's Insurance takes immediate action to rectify this situation and honor the terms of my policy. I demand a fair and expeditious resolution to my claim, including the approval of the proposed repair work by the contractor of my choice. Additionally, I expect clear and timely communication regarding the progress of my claim and any further steps required. Failure to address these concerns in a satisfactory manner will leave me with no choice but to explore all available avenues to seek justice, including lodging complaints with relevant regulatory bodies and seeking legal recourse. I trust that Traveler's Insurance will recognize the seriousness of this matter and take the necessary steps to resolve it promptly. I look forward to your prompt response and a swift resolution to this unfortunate situation.

My experience with Travelers Insurance in handling my homeowner’s claim has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. I've been going back and forth with Travelers since last summer with regard to my homeowners claim. Travelers initially approved replacing my roof. They told me to reuse the metals protecting my home from leaks, even though they hadn’t been replaced in over 20 years and are in bad shape.
It's now become crystal clear to me why they didn't initially consider replacing the metal, it's because my home has asbestos on it. I've been in a fight with them for over 6 months regarding the asbestos. Travelers is either claiming the metals can be replaced without damaging the asbestos or they simply don't care if it does. They have employed every possible excuse to minimize their responsibility and financial obligation.
What I once thought was one of the best insurance companies has proven to be just like lesser companies – eager to collect premiums but unwilling to fulfill their obligations when a claim is made. I would advise potential customers to think twice before signing up with Travelers. At this point, I will strongly consider taking my case to the Insurance Commission. It's been over 2 months since I've heard from Travelers when they told me they would give me an update regarding the siding. They're clearly delaying and hoping I will give up and go away. This treatment is ridiculous and unacceptable. 2/5 stars. I gave an extra star only because they partially fulfilled their initial obligation.

They changed the claim rep not once but twice. I sent weekly emails to them and the supervisors and was rarely ever responded to. When the claim was finally paid out in December the amount they paid me was more than ten thousand dollars below the invoices I'd received.
I've been trying to get the restoration company and them to agree on the charges for months again with almost no response from Travelers. While this has happened I've been unable to acquire insurance for another property given having an open claim. Just recently the restoration company has put a lien against my home to try and collect the debt they're owed. I have had a Travelers homeowners or condo policy through Geico for twenty years. Two years ago I purchased a home with a clawfoot tub in the bathroom, and last summer, while the tub was partially full of bath water, the back feet fell off the tub. The front end of the tub cantilevered up into the air pulling the PVC drain pipe out of the floor and snapping it in half. The bathwater was quickly bailed and mopped up and Roto Rooter came that night and lifted the tub and reattached the feet. It turned out that the feet on the tub had been improperly installed.
There was no water damage to the floor, the walls, or the bathroom, and in the end the claim was for two bills-to Roto Rooter and to the plumber that put in a new drain pipe. The total amount of the claim was $2300. This is the first and only homeowners claim I have ever filed in twenty years. The adjustor actually laughed when she came to inspect the bathroom and said it was a first-that she had never seen anything like it.
About a month ago I received an email from Geico saying that my homeowner's policy would not be renewed because I had had a "non-weather-related water event" in my home. A Geico supervisor was sure it was a mistake since there had been no water damage upon inspection. He reached out to underwriting at Travelers who told him that the reason for the cancellation had been "mis-characterized" and that they knew it was not a water-related event, but they still refused to reinstate the policy or give a reason for the cancellation. The Geico supervisor said that basically the policy had been cancelled simply because I had made a claim.
I actually had the money to pay for the repair, but why pay for a homeowner's policy if you can't use it for a one-off accident like this one? Apparently, if you have Travelers insurance, you cannot use your policy, not even once in twenty years. So much for treating your loyal, long-term customers well. Needless to say, Geico is at fault as well, and since all three of my policies, home, auto, and umbrella were with Geico they will lose all three. They were unable to give me a new homeowner's quote for less than $600 a year more than what I was paying for the Travelers policy. State Farm here I come!

In late January 2021, a water heater that was only about 10 years old, leaked and flooded part of the finished basement. The first thing I did was to have the broken water heater removed and replaced with a new one. I filed a claim and restoration of carpets, baseboards, and some drywall was done. The claim was settled. In early June 2021, there was another leak in the same area. At first, the cause was unclear, but it turned out that while installing the new water heater, the technician kinked a tube through which condensation from the furnace was pumped while the AC was on. The water could not get through and backed up causing the flood.
I called Travelers and told them we had a similar claim earlier in the year. I asked whether there was any issue in filing another claim and was told that there was not. Similar remedial work was done, although it was less extensive than the first time. In April 2022, I received a notice in the mail that our homeowners insurance would be discontinued the following month. The notice came a day before we were leaving on a three week trip. I had to quickly arrange for new homeowners insurance through GEICO and the premium was nearly twice as high as previously.
If the claims department had informed me that a second claim for water damage would result in non-renewal of our insurance, I would absolutely not have filed the claim. Paying for the repairs would have been far less expensive than even a few years of much higher premiums. Ten months passed before I was notified. Worse, the two water related incidents are on our record for any insurance company to see. I am sure that Travelers will say that the claims department is separate from the underwriting department. Certainly, any professional in the claims department could have told me what might happen. The final sentence in the notice sums up Travelers' priorities and they are clearly not in the interest of the homeowner: "To continue to insure this risk would adversely affect our economic and business purposes."

They use an app called Hover. You take pictures and Hover creates a 3D diagram. Sq. footage was way over calculated versus my appraisal. They would not communicate regarding my explanation. They said I had black mold on my siding. Not true as pointed out in a recent home inspection and another insurance inspector who showed up in person. I recently bought a condominium and bought homeowners insurance with Travelers Insurance. The people that I have communicated with throughout the process have been professional and I believe, within their capacity, tried to help solve my problem. But to no avail. After I moved in to my condominium I received an alarming letter from Travelers explaining that unless I paid my bill, my coverage would be discontinued. I called the bank which holds my mortgage and after researching the situation it was discovered that Travelers had received and cashed the check, but never gave me credit for the payment.
I have called Travelers multiple times and they have concurred that the check was cashed, yet they do not know where the money went to. All agents say the same thing; that it is currently under investigation. So, right now my policy is listed as inactive. Everybody makes mistakes. The problem is when a company does not make an effort to rectify a mistake in a timely manner. They are not displaying ethical behavior. Where is my money? To start off, I had Travelers for 3 years and never made one claim until recently when I was taken for from a Contractor who later was found to be using another Businesses information for his own to pretend he was licensed, bonded, and insured. Needless to say I had to make a claim for my kitchen and bathroom. The Kitchen and bathroom were not done correctly and when I made the claim for the first time I thought the process was simplistic and straight forward, but wow wrong. The Claims Rep received all my information and proof of receipts, State Contractors Board Review, pictures, and video of the problems to my kitchen and bathroom.
I showed the rep estimates from 3 businesses for repairs and the rep basically at first had me feeling like I was going to get help with the repairs needed and had me thinking I was good as he was saying the Company would just Zelle me the cash needed for the said repairs. Well the very same day the Rep calls me to tell me that he was sorry, but the Company could not help me due to the severe damages. Then moves on to say if anything changes to let them know and they could redo the review. I laughed and said why do I even pay your Company if you aren't going to help and the reply was a joke. The reply was basically stating that if since this was bad workmanship they couldn't really assist.
This was not bad workmanship it was basically replacing almost the entire kitchen as there are outlets that were bulging outward, tiles that were falling off the wall, a range hood that was not on the wall properly and could be a potential fire hazard as it was hanging too low to begin with, and etc as the list goes on. Either way I left this business as the ratings appear to be accurate with their standards of practice and how I was literally just shied away, so they can avoid paying for anything. If I pay into insurance for these reasons I should be able to get some help, but not getting anything, but sorry was no excuse and I left to another business. They should be more open to explaining into detail what the policy states and stop hiding behind the small lettering and this how these businesses get you. When asked what if there was a fire and I was told it depends on the circumstances. Lol. Glad I left.

I told him that I was not prepared to waste any more time answering questions that seemed to me to be beyond the scope of necessary information for the Travelers' companies to determine a quote for insurance. I then thanked him for his time and hung up the phone.
Just applying for an insurance policy from Travelers' is like undergoing a ** interrogation in its scope and lengthiness. Find an insurance company that wants to do business with you and makes it easy and convenient to do so, without wasting half of your day answering inane questions that are unnecessary to obtain an insurance policy. Now however they had issued a non renewal for an $1800 water damage claim because they say I never sent proof that it was paid, WHICH I ABSOLUTELY DID! Keep in mind they didn't pay for the $2500 roof damage. That came out of my pocket because homeowners doesn't cover that, surprise! But the paltry $1800 is reason for nonrenewal!!!
The insurance companies are dropping people left and right because of all the fires in California. Stupid business model because they are apparently run by morons. So where are they going to get the funds to pay out claim if they don't want to insure anyone. The areas of the fires in California were for the most part not even fire areas. It was just unusual circumstances in an unusually windy environment. There haven't ever been fires in those areas and probably will never be again. So maybe Travelers is not alone. In May of 2019, my husband and I discovered that some property we held in storage had been damaged due to wind damage to the facility causing an excess accumulation of dust, mites, and insects to get into our storage unit. We immediately filed a claim with Travelers whom we had paid monthly premiums to for the last 13 years which should have covered our property in storage. We rarely filed a claim during those years, except for roof and maybe one other. We were called and asked questions about our unit which we immediately answered. However, the agent never made an appointment with us to visit the unit to assess the damage to our property. Instead, the agent called the facility to ask about us and damage to the unit. Of course, the facility denied any damage. Ultimately, our claim was denied citing what had been told to Travelers by the facility. My husband and I were disappointed, but life goes on.
Several months later, we received a letter stating we had to get rid of the property we held in storage. Of course, we called and questioned why? What is this all about? The agent proceeded to inform us that we had to throw away the property because we claimed it was damaged and allegedly we could possibly put the property in our home and file a claim on it later. We were offended as we are both honest, hardworking PROFESSIONALS. We informed the agent that it is damaged and we were not going to throw it away because the claim had not been approved by Travelers so therefore, they had no right to say we had to get rid of it. If the claim had been approved and paid, we would have gladly done so.
The agent informed us if we did not get rid of it, our policy would not be continued. This...to customers who take care of home and property and pay premiums on time...for over 13 years. We replied OK because we were not going to get rid of our property when the claim had not been approved. We immediately began getting quotes from other companies for our home insurance coverage. This happened at an excellent time for us because we were in the process of building our next home and had this not happened, we probably would have stayed with Travelers in our now current home. In January of 2020, our coverage with Travelers was not renewed due to us keeping our property in a claim that had not been approved. What a way to treat once loyal customers.

Warning to Travelers customers!! Did you know, you are not allowed to sell your home?? I have been a Travelers customer with multiple policies for close to thirty years. I have insured at least three of my homes if not four throughout those thirty years with Travelers. Never once was I made aware that selling your home makes you ineligible for being insured by Travelers. Did you know that? You could pay insurance for your homeowners policy for many many years and then if they find out you are putting your house on the market they will cancel you.
I have sold two or three homes while being insured by travelers and I never knew this. I actually moved from Connecticut to Missouri, put my house in Connecticut up for sale while I was living in Missouri. The house in Connecticut was unoccupied and on the market and still insured. Recently I called Travelers after getting a quote for renters insurance by another company, to give Travelers the opportunity for the business. I am a loyal Travelers customer! I am renting an apartment 2 minutes from my house to move some of my belongings into while we prepare our home for going on the market.
Once the house sells we will move into the apartment. My making that phone call created Travelers to cancel my policy. That’s right the fact that I am a loyal Travelers customer is biting me in the butt! They assumed my house was unoccupied and so they canceled. I called to let them know that it was not unoccupied and that we were just preparing it for the market. They called underwriting and this one underwriter is digging her heels in and saying that she is will not remove the cancellation. So the fact that I called to let them know that we are preparing to put it on the market is now the reason they’re canceling. Not because it’s unoccupied, which was never the case that was an assumption on their part caused by my phone call because I am a loyal Travelers customer, now it’s because I am planning to put it on the market!!!
Be careful of the company to whom you are loyal! Thirty years of loyalty and they are kicking me to the curb for something that is done all day every day. How many people do you know lose their homeowners insurance because they put their house on the market? I’ve never heard of that! I called a realtor friend and they had never heard of that! And Travelers themselves admitted to me that they never tell you that!
They admitted that the fact that you are not allowed to sell your home is not in your policy manual and the salesperson who sells you your homeowners policy does not tell you, you only find out if you’re a loyal customer and are honest with them. I guess the message I should take from Travelers is don’t tell the truth if you are going to put your home on the market and all is okay, cause if they find out about it they’ll cancel you!! That is basically what I was told. I thought the best practices were honesty and loyalty, not in this case, not with Travelers!!

On July 28, 2019 a straight line wind ripped through our neighborhood causing damage to the left side of my house, as well as other structures in my yard and backyard from fallen trees. A huge tree about 150 feet tall, fell onto the left side of my house and porch and caused the whole house to shake. I was not able to exit my house from the front as the tree had fallen on the porch and steps. We called Travelers and was told it was ok to have the tree removed and so we did before the adjuster came. An adjuster from travelers came out and assessed the damage about a week or two later. He assessed the damage to the roof, fascia and fence etc.
We also pointed out that there was damage to the porch and that the porch had shifted to the right, which is obvious to see.... The adjuster didn't think that was from the tree but said we could submit it as a supplement once we started repairs. He also made a comment that he overwrites the estimates so maybe he could take the family on a vacation. Our contractor verified that indeed the force of the tree moved the porch. He stabilized the roof and porch until we could make the needed repairs. He found that the left side of the porch header is compromised, The posts shifted and aren't level as they were level before the tree hit the porch (we used him last year to build our garage and he verified that in fact the porch shifted from last year before the tree hit) and the footing is sunken.
He submitted a supplemental estimate for the porch and it was denied due to the policy not covering preexisting deterioration or wear and tear. The house is an older house and after removing the ceiling on the porch, he had found deterioration, wear and improper construction that we weren't aware of as everything was covered up. Even though there was preexisting concerns, the porch was stable before the tree hit. Now we need to resupport the porch as it shifted because the tree fell and was laying on it. I contacted his supervisor and explained the situation. I asked if he could look at the pictures of the tree on the house and see that there was no way that didn't shift the porch and to compare pictures of the house before and after because it's obvious it shifted from the tree. He said he had pictures and asked that my contractor contact him.
After their discussion he wanted to send out a structural engineer. The engineer came and met with us and our contractor. He did agree that the tree definitely did damage to the porch but there was also underlying structural concerns. They agreed but we did not know about the structural concerns as they were hidden. The issue here is that the tree falling put pressure on the porch and caused it to shift and become unstable. We would not need to do any repairs to the porch at this time if the tree had not fallen. After not hearing anything for about a week I called on 4/06/2020 and was told, "Oh yea I was going to send you a letter soon, we are not covering any additional damage because your policy excludes wear and tear and deterioration."
I was surprised, as after hearing what the engineer said, I thought they would at least cover the damage the tree did to the porch. He sent me a letter, and what the engineer wrote was different as to what he said to us when he assessed the damage. He also said he compared pictures from before and after and didn't see a difference. I asked if they could meet me in the middle and help with the porch as it seems unfair that the tree caused damage and now we are on our own for repairing it. He said there was nothing he could do. I then asked what my next step was and if I needed to get a lawyer... He said that was my choice. My complaint is that these underlying concerns were hidden and the force of the tree falling is what caused the porch to move and essentially caused it to be unstable and unsafe.
This is bad business as they are using this to their advantage in order not to pay for the damage the tree caused. This is very unfair to myself the consumer. Why am I paying for insurance if they aren't going to cover damage that was done to the house by an external force? Also going back to the comment the adjuster said... We don't want it overwritten to go on vacation, we are looking to have enough money to cover the repairs needed from the damage of the tree and storm. I am appalled that is even happening and that I need to fight this. My contractor verified that the porch was not shifted before the tree fell and also neighbors have verified it as it's plain to see with your eye. After this we got a letter from travelers saying we are here to help during this trying time. What a joke....especially during this time after I am out of work. I don't have the extra money to pay for repairs that a storm caused. Isnt that what insurance is for??

We thought nothing of the QUOTE from travelers as it was only a QUOTE over the phone. We come to find out that someone at Travelers had activated our QUOTE into a fully effective policy without our consent. We’ve now called their offices a half dozen times in an attempt to get their error corrected and as of yet it is not. We keep being harassed with late payment notices because of this and empty promises that the error has been corrected. Every single representative I get ahold of insists that they alone will follow through to correct the problem and there is never a need for me to speak with management.
Here I am, 6 months after a quote, 4 months after THEY inappropriately activated the Quote into an active policy without our consent, 4 months of being harassed about payment, 5-6 representatives supposedly following up on correcting this harassment and fixing the error, not once have I been able to speak to a manager upon request with my obvious growing frustration, repeated Past Due Notices sent to us, and the reassurance that they don’t report non-payment to the credit bureaus.
In dealing with this company for a Quote, I have felt has been the worst decision we ever in relying on any business for services offered. It 100% feels like this company does not care about customer satisfaction nor do they have adequate oversight that allows Quotes to be activated without proper consent. This company appears to have policies in place that allows harassment and abuse of consumer protections, allows for representatives that can fraudulently financially use customer data to activate policies under the guise of a Quote, and they lack the oversight to remedy their own internal errors and practices. Buying and seeking homes and moving across the country is stressful enough and it feels like these vultures merely want to capitalize on potential customers, and other reviews show current customers too, during some of their most difficult life events.
A company like this should keep in mind that they are only as reliable as their weakest practices rather than finding strength in them. But what protections do customers have during their most difficult and often financially precarious times of their lives? We have to rely on their “good faith” efforts or scrape up money we don’t have to file lawsuits. All because they aren’t operating on good faith and they control all the policies that are in place to continue abusing potential and current customers. ***I’m enclosing a copy of Cancelation Confirmation we received but keep in mind we are still being harassed for payment.***

I've paid for mitigation to begin the work and contractors are unable to start due to the underestimated scope of work. Currently refuses to make adjustments despite several contractor estimates. Travelers increased my premium and monthly payments due to the open claim. I'm unable to change insurance companies due to the 10 month open claim. I've hired legal representation contacting the local news station. Justice will be served!

Insurance broker helped to buy Travelers HO6 for my new condo. Condo was all newly renovated and working great, until one night and 6.5 months since we moved in we found water damage to floor near bathroom. Found shower and tile seal broke suddenly due to contraction and expansion. We fixed the leak as soon as we can. Then, adjuster came and told us HO6 does not cover water damage from this "specific" situation as it is a "wear" and not a pipe burst...??? I disagree this is a wear. It happened only for 2 -3 days before we find out and try to fix, the floor was already damaged the first day due to water going underneath the floor. Also, most condo have master insurance that covers these pipes in the wall. So what is HO6 for if it doesn't cover all sudden water damage? Was told by adjuster to buy endorsement on top of HO6 in order to get more things covered. So, what's the point? Of HO6 if we need add on to make it worthwhile?
Also, found out the broker and the insurance company were all connected. We didn't receive a copy of the insurance policy. No one explained to us about our benefits and coverage. We didn't know better. We trust the broker to get us the best coverage. But broker did not even mentioned the endorsement, only trying to sell us something cheap and useless.
Adjuster also told us himself that most people in their lifetime won't claim anything to their homeowner's insurance... So insurance is making money by selling policy that you mostly cannot benefit from when needed. This insurance company only sells us cheap coverage that is almost useless to make us feels falsely secured. Do not trust, must read all wording carefully. Broker and insurance is connected, beware!

I filed a claim in April due to water damage to my master's bathroom of which was leaking from the upstairs to the garage below. Only to learn that the spout/valve from the garden tub caused water to leak on the sub-floor and structural insulated panel which lead to mold growth. Subsequently, I informed my adjuster of the situation and got the okay to move forward with remedied cleaning/repair/replacement of the damaged done to my property. However, due to the Short Scope estimate from Travelers I haven't been able to move forward with the repair and replacement of my bathroom floor, garden tub, insulated panel and vanity.
Furthermore, my assigned Travelers adjuster has failure to act promptly to handle my claim efficiently and effectively. Whereas, a gaping hole remains around the pipe drain area of my garden tub plumbing. Sadly, my claim has been delayed due to lack of correspondence and I have yet to receive any resolution. In the meantime, The Restoration Company has been patient, polite and forthcoming with pictures, documents and a repair scope.

I had a large crack in my slab in the garage and while I was working to fix it I found a huge root under the slab. It was obviously the cause of the problem and I filed a claim. Two claims adjusters came out to review the problem and took a ton of photos. After four days they called to say the cause of the problem was EARTHY MOVEMENT! WHAT?? Didn't you see the huge root? Yes we did, but the earth movement may be related to the tree root, but it was nonetheless related to earth movement and that is not covered by your policy. I have had the policy with Travelers for over 30 years and have never filed a claim, so I guess I have not had insurance all of these years because if they don't cover this what do they cover. My policy on this house and two other homes will be cancelled as soon as this is settled, probably in court!

The investigator did not bring appropriate tools to look at the water damage (he only surfacely looked at the walls, which were brown with stains from the unit beside mine). We purchased our home in 2017 and had it insured by Travelers referred by Geico. In 2018 our home suffered a house fire which destroyed enough of the property for us to have to temporarily relocate while repairs were completed. Every aspect of the process in working with Travelers was exhausting, while our initial agent was generally helpful and clear it was also very clear that we had to put in a lot of extra work and examine every detail very carefully to make sure we were not getting ripped off and that we were capturing the amount due to restore us to 'whole'.
The personal property side was a far worse experience than dealing with the home loss and repair. The personal property agent with Travelers was inconsistent in her communication with us, recommended a shady company to 'restore' our clothing and soft goods called FRSteam. Who cleaned all of our items after we had specifically asked them to not do so until we confirmed exactly which items we wanted to have cleaned.
During the home repair process our property was then broken into and a number of things stolen from the shed on the property. This resulted in another new claim having to be filed because Travelers said it was UNRELATED to the fire loss. The only reason we suffered theft was due to our home being empty, which was due to fire loss, so, do the math. This additional claim then gave them the perfect reason to justify dropping our coverage as soon as they could. We are looking for a new insurance policy for our home now, and hope we never have to deal with Travelers again.

When I said they were worthless, complained that we have been customers for 27 years and they have denied every claim he said, "Well, if it makes you feel any better your first 2 would now have a partial reimbursement." NO... it did not make me feel better. So I told him so and said... So I guess this claim will be covered in 10 years but that won't do me any good. My hardwood floors cupped and have become discolored, my laminates are peeling up, my carpet is damaged, my insulation remains down and some in tact but still wet against my subfloors and we are facing a Arctic freeze that could cause even more damage!...
I live in an older home but had none of this until the pipe burst! I didn't see a adjuster for 10 days, I kept calling concerned about the standing water under my house and mold from the high humidity levels at that time and they gave me ServiceMaster's number (7 days later) whom I called and they came out next day and gave a very scary report of tremendous damage and mold growth!... Mold continued to grow!!! I heard nothing and continued to reach out to them out of concern as my house continued to show more damage and mold growth. The first adjuster finally came 10 days later but still nothing was done! They sent a second adjuster out 2 weeks later who says there was no evidence of any standing water in my home and ignored my plumber, the first adjuster, ServiceMaster and hygienist reports!
I feel very taken advantage of as a single woman! He put us in a hotel while putting me in contact with a relocation company to find housing for 4-6 months while my house would be mitigated... My handicapped daughter had a major surgery and I had to bring her home to the hotel!... Then they denied my claim and gave me 12 hour notice that I had to be out of the hotel and we had to go home to a mold infested house that had been sitting for a long period of time growing more and more mold closed up and more damage surfacing to the floors! I also pay for loss of use and never received, or was offered, reimbursement for gas/mileage, food, etc while displaced. I am far from furious!!! They don't deserve even 1 star!!! We are now paying three times the amount per year for our policy, but I believed this meant we would receive good coverage if needed. How wrong I was to believe that Travelers was a good insurance company! Our problem began when we decided to remove our older built-in refrigerator and decided to put in a Subzero. When the installer came out and removed the refrigerator, mold was found on the wall behind it. We never knew we had a water or mold issue because it was hidden by the refrigerator.
I immediately called Travelers Insurance as well as a remediation company. I was told over the phone that Travelers would cover up to $5000 for the remediation and that we had a $2500 deductible. We were fine with it. The Travelers claims adjuster I was assigned to was too lazy to come visit our property. Instead, he asked me if I had an iPhone and if I would download an app to my phone so he could virtually take pictures on his iPad via my phone. I complied. The remediation company then proceeded to do everything they needed to do, ripping out cabinets, drywall, etc. They did an excellent job.
A third party company came out after several days of clearing out the mold and all of it was gone. Days later I received a call from the Travelers adjuster stating that our claim was denied. He mentioned that "the mold on our brick flooring looked like it had been a while". I recently discovered an issue with my roof. A mold specialist identified the issue as a leak, which was confirmed by my roofer as ice damming. I was provided letters from my roofer stating the installation was to specs and the roof was not covered in mold/wrought when replaced 7 yrs ago, and a letter from the shingle company explaining ice damming.
I contacted my assigned adjuster Rob ** with Travelers who sent out a contractor to assess the damages. While speaking with the adjuster he informed me ice damming would essentially collapse a roof which is contrary to the shingle company's explanation. The contractor incorrectly identified a range hood vent as a shower vent. I was then informed by the adjuster the damages were a result of moisture from my shower and therefore not covered. I requested the contractor re-assess the situation and I would turn on the fans to show it was a range hood vent (cooking grilled cheese clearly wouldn't cause 1/4 of my roof to leak, wrought and mold) and I offered to provide the documentation identifying the issue as a result of ice damming.
At this time I was informed the mold and wrought would not be covered. Please explain to me how ice damming is covered but the damages from the ice damming are not covered... or how a contractor who can't identify a range hood vent from a shower vent can determine my claim? Am I really to accept my claim was denied without an actual qualified person looking at the issue.
Updated on July 19, 2018: My latest conversation was this: Travelers cannot determine the cause of the damage. I advised the adjustor I had three subject matter experts identify the problem for them and provide documentation confirming ice damming. I advised no claim was submitted at the exact moment of ice damming as I do not conduct daily home inspections. While I recognise mold is not covered under my policy, water was absorbed into the attic through ice damming and the affected area was not fixed previously.
The adjustor stated this type of damage wouldn't occur from ice damming (but they can't identify the cause). According to Travelers, if ice damming caused water to enter into the attic everything would have dried up without damage. Therefore, the subject matter experts are wrong and there is an unidentified issue that magically appeared 21 yrs after the house was built but again not ice damming. Traveler's adjustors opinions apparently trump experts in determining your claim. As far as Travelers is concerned this incident is not covered.

Inspector came with drones. Examined roof. Said no visible damage. Really? Did you miss the stain on the ceiling, the stain on the wood floors and the damp smell in the attic?
He said - "...this is about $800 worth of damage. And your deductible is $500 and I’ll put a claim in for you, but they may dump you". So after 18 years of spending $2400 a month for exact replacement insurance plus contents with not a single claim... And let me add that we cleaned up after several storms in the past removing trees etc on our own bill... That this was their idea of helping us when we had real damage? $800 my **. I recently contacted the appraisal company and they have provided me all documentation to prove 2,294 square feet as living/building area. Since my renewal date of the policy is in June and I called Travelers to review the policy. I was shocked to know; as per Travelers record; the living/building area of the property is 2,909 square footage instead 2,294 square footage. The Travelers guy told me; it was underwriter fault. Then he advised me to contact the local county office to get the plat (drawing) of the property. I was able to get the certified copy of the plat as well as copy of the public record of the property from County office.
I submitted all these documents to Travelers to be reviewed by underwriters team. After waiting of ten days; I made follow up with Travelers; still underwriters team was failed to come up with verdict. I did not make any change/modification in the property since 2004. Travelers made me to pay extra premium for the difference in square footage as well as rebuilding (dwelling) cost of the property. I have made about fifteen phone calls and spent hours of my precious time with stress and strain as it was huge monetary loss to me due to Travelers mistake. I have paid my premium on time putting my trust in Travelers with no claim in fourteen years. My dispute is still dangling in the air with no resolution by Travelers. I got ten different opinions from fifteen different people from Travelers.
Now I got premium quote from another insurance competitor and they gave me premium quote about $250 less than what I am paying to Travelers per year because of the discrepancy. And this company used public record of the property from the County website. I will wait for a few more days for Travelers to come up with resolution to my satisfaction. They should either make the correction in the record or they should send an independent appraiser to appraise the property at their cost. And they should refund my money back otherwise I will take my business (auto and umbrella policies) to another insurance company.

After a week of going back and forth with Tamika the investigator I get a call from another agent, Christina, who is from an office in my state asking me questions I had already gone over twice, once with the person at the 800 number and again with Tamika. There was NO HANDOFF from Tamika to Christina the adjuster and I had NO IDEA at this point that Travelers was having an issue reaching the person who hit me to get a statement or photos of their car - I just got a random call from the NEXT person who assumed 1) I knew who she was, 2) I knew that my case had been transferred and 3) that I knew what she was talking about.
So now I'm talking to a person who is 'local' to me which just meant their office happened to be in my state (I live in Southern California, she was in Central/North Cali) and Christina tells me the photos I provided to Tamika are dark and they can't see my car. In PA , the Supreme Court ruled (in favor of policyholders)... 1) that the insurer did not have a reasonable basis for denying benefits under the policy and (2) that the insurer knew or recklessly disregarded its lack of a reasonable basis in denying the claim... Travelers is so arrogant they believe this does not apply to them. As a policy holder, filing a claim for a pinhole copper pipe leak under my main bathroom (only) shower tub, I noticed dripping and called Travelers to explain the situation and ask for the proper steps to take to avoid claim problems. I hung up immediately, called the plumber and the water to the main bathroom was shut off.
Two days later the claims adjuster evaluates the visual only damages, writes a check minus the deductible and depreciation and tells me plumbing costs are not included. I ask him what if hidden damage is uncovered. His response is he can’t see behind walls. If I find anything further to call him. I have no information regarding MOISTURE METERS.
There is a problem, the demolition contractor removes the water damaged area and finds the beginning of mold growth and the entire (small home) finished basement is gutted. So sad for me that suddenly the claims adjuster is unavailable, sick, in training, etc. I speak with his supervisor and am told my moldy house is not his problem. I report him and the adjuster to travelers consumer affairs and ask to speak to management. I called repeatedly until “the director” called me who demanded to know who authorized me to do this work. Why was not a lab mold sample taken, etc. He was speaking in such a loud voice. I raised my volume and said it was visible mold, not hidden. He then proceeds to tell me I am yelling. :)
And I don’t know what I am doing and he has been doing this for twenty years - CLICK I had to hang up as it was clear I was not going to have a valid basis for denial. So here is what is in my policy and mold removal related to an incident (not neglect), hauling away of debris and damaged property, law and ordinance up to 10% (in building cavity return duct to HVAC removed) and living expenses (no shower). Refusal of claim payment without a reasonable basis for denial and reckless disregard for a reasonable basis = BAD FAITH INSURANCE COMPANY. My first step is reporting Travelers to the PA department of insurance. My next step if this can not be resolved with the state regulations, I will hire a lawyer.

I have paid them for one home premiums over 26 years totaling $213,200 and the claims totaled $27,000. One for water damage and one for a small fire in geothermal system. I would give them 0 stars and recommend homeowners do not go with Travelers. Find a more reputable company. There is no loyalty to customers. I have submitted a complaint to the State of Mass.!!!

I had 14 days to get rid of the stuff, make a number of other repairs and throw out the bricks I was saving to do my driveway. I will have mismatched roof and live in an HOA where this will not be approved. All other major carriers in my area agreed to replace the homeowner's entire roof! After I contacted my insurance they created a claim and I had to call them for weeks to never get a call back from my claim specialist and finally I received a letter that stated they didn't cover anything caused by nature, humans, plants, animals, etc. so I realized that my coverage was a joke and called and cancelled my policy. He will be fair, it is your right but homeowners don't know, they will cheat you and they will cheat the contractor, they refuse to pay for the contractor overhead and profits, even when there is the invented rule of tree trades, even when the job is complex, anyway that have nothing to do with overhead and profits, they don't respect the Texas law requires insurance to paid when a contractor have been hire by a homeowners, by not paying they are practically Stealing from the homeowner and the contractor, this affect the homeowner for quality and warranties etc. I am about to sue this company for malpractice and cheating. I have had the Travelers Insurance for my home for over 9 years and paid the premium on-time. Recently, the toilet tank line bursted and flooded the entire upstairs and 1st floor. It ruined my entire kitchen, bathrooms, carpets, floors, dry walls and the garage. I immediately called the company and filed the claim. The adjuster Erick showed up with a Restoration company called Servpro. After looking at the damage, he sent immediately a denial letter stating that it bursted due to a wear and tear and the water damage is not covered in my policy. The pipe had no sign of any wear and tear. There were no water stain on the floor to prove their point, but they can get away from paying the claim if they say that it was due to wear and tear which means we did not take care of it so according to the rule, they don't have to pay for the claim. It's a company which will say and do anything to avoid paying any claim. So they will come up with made up stories.
If that was not enough, they even cancelled my policy saying that the "property is changed"??? The property had inside damage by water which had to be fixed, but again they want to get away by saying these specific words which could legally get them out of the hook. What a phony, fake, criminal organization who only knows how to take your money and the minute you file a claim, they will deny to pay for it and for sure will cancel it. It's called legal robbery!! I wish if I could give them ZERO star. Whoever have their policy should wake up and immediately change it to another reputable company before they fall victim to this horrendous company. Incident with Travelers Homeowners Insurance. We have held Travelers Homeowners and Auto policies since 2001. Up to this point we have been very satisfied their product and service. Unfortunately, that is not the case now. At the beginning of May 2017, I noticed a blackened spot on the wall in our hall bathroom. It was between the shower and toilet. I sent a sample of it to PRO-LAB and received the Certificate of Mold Analysis the end of May 2017. The results identified the sample as Stachybotrys, also known as black mold. After consulting the Center for Disease Control, US Environmental Protection Agency, and National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, I realized the implications of this situation on my family's health. I also discovered the importance of having a licensed, certified Water Mitigation and Mold Removal Company, to fully remove it.
In addition, I discovered that should we decide to sell our home, a certification from a credible Mold Remediation Company would be necessary to state that all mold and damage had been removed and repaired to safety standards. I contacted Bio Safety Clean and Chris ** came to my home on 6/26/2017. He did a full inspection and confirmed that the mold in the hall bath was Black Mold and needed to be removed immediately for my family's health. He also found there is extensive water readings within the wall behind the vanity, toilet, and tub/shower, basically the whole bathroom. The smell is not only in the bathroom but is also in the entry/living area, which shares a wall.
In order to find the source of this water and remove all of the mold it is necessary to completely gut the bathroom, clean up all mold, determine where the water leak is coming from, repair this leak, and then install all new vanity, sink & counter, fixtures, shower walls, medicine cabinet, dry wall, paint, etc. On 6/26/2017, Chris emailed me the estimate to forward to Travelers Homeowners Insurance. The estimate was for $5630.99. I placed a claim with Travelers Homeowners Insurance on that same day, 6/26/2017. On 6/30/2017, the adjuster for Travelers and Chris ** with Bio Clean met at my home. The adjuster was emailed the report from PRO-LAB identifying the mold so he was fully aware of the black mold. Chris ** reviewed with the adjuster the estimate and why items on the estimate needed to be done to completely remove the mold and water.
I am concerned that the adjuster has little or no experience in water mitigation and mold remediation. I received the estimate from Travelers on 7/3/2017 and the total was $6687.78 minus $1000 deductible for $5687.78. This estimate supposedly included the amount for water mitigation, removal of mold, and rebuild. After reviewing the estimate it is clear that Travelers has not considered the full extent of the water problem or mold infestation. The breakdown of the estimate is as follows: Water Mitigation $1149.22. Mold Remediation $1134.40. Rebuild $4404.16. As you can see, Travelers is agreeing to pay is $2,283 for Water Mitigation and Mold Remediation. According to this estimate, Travelers is only covering a portion of Bio Clean's water mitigation and mold remediation and a portion of rebuilding of our bathroom.
**THERE WAS MORE MOLD FOUND IN BATHROOM DUE TO LEAKING PIPE WHICH MEANS THE COST WILL INCREASE. Items omitted from the estimate: Extended Stay cost upfront - $1065.40. Cost of items that had to be thrown away due to mold exposure - $1500. Cost of water and mold inspection by Bio Clean for $100. Loss of use for 10 days? I am also concerned that based on Travelers estimate the work would not be performed according to the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Corticated Standards. The standards are as follows: Professional Water Damage Restoration $500. Professional Mold Remediation $520.
If these standards are not followed we will not be able obtain a certificate that our home is free from water and mold. We would never have assurance that the water and mold has been fully removed and we would be unable to sell our home in the future since we would have not way of verifying that this problem was dealt with correctly. In addition, I have obtained an estimate from a licensed contractor through Home Depot that gave me a figure of approximately $7000 to restore my bathroom to full use. Clearly, Travelers estimate of $4404.16 will not fully put our bathroom back to full use. As you can imagine I find all of this very troubling. My family's health and welfare are at stake. I am sure you would feel the same if this were your family.

I am stuck with Travelers for homeowners and can't wait to drop them. I bought them for my home purchase settlement (2009) through AAA, which I had for auto emergency service. I got a good rate which convinced me of the decision to purchase their insurance. The rate was about $400/year, now it has been $904/year since I had a claim 5 years ago. We had a "100 year rain event" that wore out my sump pump and consequently the sump pit backed up into the basement. My wife had just moved in and had many things, including furniture, stored in the basement. What a mess. We filed and were paid only $5000; they said was the policy coverage limit. Since that date we have paid more than double, as mentioned, the premium and can't switch companies due to only ONE claim.
I called Travelers for info to save money and better afford this policy that I am stuck with, but little help. I then just called to find out what my refund from the annual premium payment would be when I cancel 2 months after renewal. They again can't give me the "short rate refund" amount. I want to know in advance if it will be cost effective to cancel and change COMPANIES after renewal or if the "refund" penalty is more than the savings. I was told that they can't calculate that; I had to wait till after the renewal. I told them that there are numerous "short rate refund" calculators online why can't you just tell me, I need to know if your company charges any other fees. The answer was, NO, can't give you that information. Again, no answers to logical questions.

We recently had a bad hailstorm in our neighborhood. Travelers came out to inspect... sending a adjuster and hired one from 2 hours away when one was local. They decided that the front part of our roof and a sunroom was damaged but not the backside of the roof. However, the sunroom tires into the backside of the roof and unless God was throwing knuckleballs with the hail you would have to suspend the laws of physics for the backside of the roof not to be as damaged as the sunroom. So they want to pay for a partial replacement... which is in effect a patch. My agent says that if I was with another carrier and wanted Travelers to write my homeowners... THEY WOULD NOT WRITE A PATCHED ROOF.
Guy beside me had his entire roof replaced as did the 2 on the other side and 2 across the street. Our roofer who has more credentials and certifications than a medical doctor could not believe what they were saying or did... and this roofer told 2 others on the backside of the area they DID NOT have any damage. So they are not trolling for business and have a impeccable reputation. No wonder Travelers is near the bottom of JD Powers ratings. They sent an inspector while we were in the middle of removing 3,000 lbs of left behind belongings and trash from the house from the previous owner. We had pulled aside all scrap metal so it could be recycled and placed it in a pile. This displeased the inspector.
We began the complete renovation on the inside and hadn't started on the exterior yet, but he didn't like the peeling paint he saw. We were also cited for overhanging trees. In the 30 days we had the property, this had not been checked off our to-do list, but the removal of tree limbs was fast approaching had they just asked us. Now a month or so later, I get a letter stating that they had someone come to do a physical estimate of my home replacement value and it seems to be $30,000 more than previously stated, so my insurance will go up $60 - $70 a year more than what I was quoted.

We are first time homeowners and first time ever having to deal with insurance claims and how the process works. To begin we had a fire that started in our kitchen which in turn caused a lot of damage and we had to stay in a hotel for pretty much three weeks. Not a very big kitchen and Travelers called in ServPro who in turn took longer than needed to clean up the damage. Brought in a machine to clear the air but the furniture was still in the home which was later deemed too smoke filled to clean which made no sense to continue running the machine with the furniture in place. Second the claims ServPro was submitting every day had incorrect times listed; we have a camera on the home and watched the activity... No one seemed interested.
After receiving a check all of the estimates were more than 3000 more than what we received and then to find out we were to pay ServPro from the check. "Had" no idea. Was told that estimated listed it all. Could not reach the agent for more than two weeks due to a family matter and no one called or return calls with our confirms about the estimate, not being able to find a good contractor and pretty much everyone we reached out to did not contact us back.. Once company stated they don't work with Travelers.Pretty much they shortcut the clients. The kitchen is now to the point that we could just get out of the hotel and back home. And we are paying out of pocket trying to fix things ourselves.
Pay insurance for 4 years and when we needed them they disappointed us. Not only are we without furniture, have to find a way to pay ServPro for their fraudulent service. We have to find a way to get a window in that was caused by fire. The agent should have went over everything with us and Travelers should have had someone assisting him while out on a personal family matter. This is a complete nightmare for me and my family and truthfully aside from the customer service call. Hurting.

I am now in week 2 of a claim filed on my rental property in which Our AC compressor unit was stolen from the back of our home. Travelers has delayed and found every reason not to appropriately replace. Must I remind you that the home can't function without it. I have interacted with two individuals Takeisha ** and her supervisor Doug ** who are horrible representatives for this company, are unable to effectively deal with paying customers and devoid of customer service skills.
Anyone considering using this company should RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN. This company is like a used car salesman on steroids. I wish I had read these reviews a long time ago but now that I have this unwanted experience their contract will not be renewed. Travelers will find any way to minimize their pay out for a claim by using their own "depreciation values" on items. This depreciation value they quote comes from an nonvalidated computer program they have and is in place so that you essentially are stuck paying for what they should.
When trying to tease out details they talk in circles with no substance yet dig their heels in regarding their payout amount. Prior to becoming a landlord I lived in the house in question and was insured by State Farm. In my 15 years with State Farm there was one home claim issued and 2 car claims which were promptly addressed. Any disputes we found areas of compromise and I never heard of additional company-manufactured depreciation costs. You should never consider Travelers and go to State Farm instead.
When I initially filed the claim on my property for the missing compressor it took Takeisha ** 3 days to contact me and according to her she had 48 hours and since I called after 5pm the clock didn't start until the next day (AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE). This was followed by a series on nonproductive phone calls filled with non chalance and lacking any clear reason as to why the cost of replacement this company arrived at was 1500 dollars less than the cost listed by the HVAC company THEY contracted to assess the property.
The cherry on top was that I would have to pay up front then they would mail a check which is a reimbursement. They struggled with the concept that their paying for this is different from them reimbursing me. I provided various analogies to try and illustrate the point at which time they pivoted to a different issue. I offered that they pay the contractor directly which also fell on deaf ears given the shady nature of this company.
When I insisted on speaking to the manager Doug ** it became perfectly clear how Takeisha ** ended up with the poor customer relation skills. He never once apologized for the now 2 week delay. He has clearly received a PhD in ** which I see through completely. I can't remember the last time I dealt with two employees of a company that were so horrible. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. As with most things you pay for what you get. Thankfully GEICO covers our bigger policy but sold us down the river to this horrendous company for Landlord insurance.

Then a week later I received notification that Travelers was denying my claim as it incident had happened over a year ago and I only had a year to report it.
First of all, I did call them immediately upon my knowledge that there was damage. What did they expect? A woman nearly 70 years old climb up on her roof on a yearly basis to check for hail damage? Sorry, physically impossible! To add insult to injury not only did Traveler's refuse to honor my claim (although they cashed my premium checks quick enough) when I received my renewal notice they had greatly increased my rate!!! It has been raining all day and there was dense fog so one car after another was driving into it. My car had to be towed and have the tire replaced and a wheel alignment was necessary. The police had forwarded our incident report and contact information to Travelers Insurance who was handling all the claims for NJ American Water Company. I was just informed that my claim was being denied because Travelers said they were told by NJ American Water that they filled in the hole properly after completing the repair. All Travelers did was accept their word and now we all have been denied. I am going to appeal the denial.

I am in SC taking care of my mother's home. She passed 2 years ago. I had thoughts of continuing the upkeep of her home and flower garden, once hailed by the local newspaper as flower garden of the month. The home is valued under 100,000 in the south, maybe 150-200,000 in Maryland. I moved into the home on May 24, 2015. The home while not at the value above has far more sentimental value to me because it belonged to my Mother. My family is not wealthy but we subsidized her expenses. Homeowners insurance and forced flood insurance totaled over 2,500. She was in her 80s when she was forced by Nationstar Mortgage company to get the flood insurance. When I came I had and maintain personal property insurance through Assurant Insurance Co... at times my electronic payment information says GEICO. I originally contracted with GEICO. The companies' relationship was never explained.
Come the flood on October 6, 2015. I called Nationstar and spoke with their representative who connected me to the claims department as we elected to have them purchase the flood insurance through their source at 1,500 per year. My story is very long, bottom line is that the first adjuster said that the WATER damage and mold infestation is not related to the flood. Of course I lived in the home since May and there was none of the damage present. If the home was infested with mold I would not have moved in. Not only did they say that the damage was not from the flood, they said bogus and fabricated statements.
One was that there was no movement of soil to indicate flooding. I gave the second adjuster a video that I filmed on August 30, 2015 months before the flood. The video was to show the pattern of water running onto the property during a normal rainstorm. I took it to show the City of Sumter so that they would fix the problem which existed years before the flood and at the time that the insurance policy was written. I am now convinced that there was no need for flood insurance. The Atlantic Ocean is 2 hours away, and the nearest ditch is a half block away. My family has lived in the area for over 75 years and there has never been a problem with water from the ditch. I have been speaking with a supervisor who said some pretty stupid and condescending things.
When I shared with her that I previously owned 6 homes, the last home valued a million dollars and that I fully understood how insurance works. I also explained that I lived in Annapolis, MD, a city that is predominantly water and no one is forced to have flood insurance. She said that she would get back to me in 2 days... it's passed 2 days. I am a senior citizen, living and breathing mold daily. The hardwood floors are buckling from the moisture seeping up from under the house. There is mold in my bedroom... green and black. Servpro measured 19% moisture in my mattress. The hot water heater is out because of the water coming through the roof. All of my clothing and shoes have mold, as well as the kitchen cabinets, and the odor is horrible. The water brought filth and possible feces from the sewer in the street near the house.
South Carolina was deemed in a state of emergency and my problems are very visible. I found out in my search that FEMA administers all flood insurance. They rushed to the aid of those who had no flood insurance with no questions. I personally know one person who had 4 ft. of wall from the floor up taken out, totally repaired, new furniture and appliances... no flood insurance. I have gone to the media and will continue contacting any place I feel will make the community aware of the treatment I and I am sure others are experiencing. If I am having these challenges dealing with this situation, I can only imagine the elderly, poor or those who just don't know what to do. I am thankful that my Mother does not have to deal with this issue. I have no doubt that if this insurance co told her that she wasn't covered she would just walk away to suffer in this unsafe environment.
I now understand why consumers don't trust insurance companies. I think that a class action suit might force GEICO to be proactive in selecting those companies they pass unsuspecting customers to. At the least we should be able to make the decision. Had I known that Travelers and Assurant were not GEICO and that GEICO SAYS that they are not related at all, I would not have insured with them... ever. I found this out from a GEICO executive who I was referred to by their CEO. Actually they can say what they want, however, when I dialed GEICO and asked for renter's insurance for my office space in DC, they transferred me... not once advising me that they were transferring me to another company. Please excuse grammatical or spelling errors, if I wordsmithed this, I would probably delete it.

While visiting my family over the 2015 holiday season, my backpack was stolen. In it was my MacBook Pro, along with some sundry items. The experience in getting the claim settled is still not a done deal. Although I provided Travelers with information as soon as they requested it, I still haven't received full compensation for all items stolen, namely, the total amount due me for my MacBook Pro. The claims agent assigned to this case was clearly not totally informed as to how to handle such a case. I was given incomplete information and incorrect information.
I called her supervisor three times, left messages for him to return my calls, but he never did. The last time I called, this morning, I dialed 0, as instructed, but was put on hold for over ten minutes, when finally I hung up. This is the second time that happened. Terrible service. I did contact their consumer affairs department and am awaiting a call from the supervisor of the supervisor of the agent who was trying to handle this case. Who knows if I will be contacted or not. The only reason I have Travelers is because I got them through GEICO, but have found that their level of customer service in no way approaches that of GEICO. I do plan to file a complaint with GEICO to let them know what I experienced.

This agent says I am still liable to pay outside of the policy dates. This does not sound correct. I paid for 1 year and 1 year only. Why are they paying for my policy outside the date. If there were some damage outside expired date I BET their excuse would be, "your policy is not paid up to date therefore we can not allow your claim."

The transparency was not there to make a more informed decision with initial choosing of the type of plan that would fit myself and my particular needs at the time. I have been dealing with a Travelers adjuster. He was the most useless person I have ever had to deal with. I spoke with him several times trying to get him to reconsider, but to no avail. "Without us home, you're telling me a guy came out here, pulled a ladder off his vehicle and got on our roof?" I asked what the date was and then told the person on the phone, "Hold on." Came back on and said, "Our cameras on that date do not show a man using a ladder and getting on our roof. Would you like to know what I see? A guy in a white Prius sitting at the end of our driveway, taking notes and leaving. He sat there for a total of 4 minutes and 21 seconds. We would move all our current insurances with you, including family members who made a switch as well."
I was then put on hold and told a few moments later that they would allow us to wait until next spring to replace the roof. How do you like that? A few minutes ago I was being told get a new roof or "we'll drop you," and now with proof and the threat of moving elsewhere they had a change of heart and would graciously extend to us till spring to replace our roof. Travelers told me then that the only way to remove Mr. ** from policy was to start a new policy. Since this part of the country had just been struck by a earthquake all new policies were not issued at that time. So, I let it slide and I did not call the Travelers insurance again until the rates went down again in May 2015 when I prepared to refinance my home again. The new lender I was refinancing with requested Mr.** be removed from home owners insurance policy.
In May 2015 I called Travelers and spoke with a sales associate. I requested that Mr. ** be removed from the homeowners policy & he told me that couldn't be done without Mr. ** consent because "your taking insurance away from **." I explained... Mr. ** not lived here for over 3 years and I am the homeowner- home loan is in my name only & Mr. ** no longer connected in any way with my home. Nonsense that Mr.** listed on a policy I am paying when he is nothing more than another citizen of society listed on my homeowners policy! Still, without Mr. ** consent via telephone just cant be done. My homeowners policy is paid until January next year. Travelers refused to remove Mr. ** from policy &refuses to refund me so I can start a new policy. The associate of Travelers did however offer that I start a brand new policy in my name only for the amount of $1130.00 WHILE I ALSO PAID FOR OLD POLICY.
So I would be paying for two policies at the same time for next 9 months. I told travelers associate this is ridiculous I am not paying for 2 policies at same time. He then said- "the rule is that names on policies cant be removed without consent of the person being removed & I cant break the rules". I explained I don't have contact with Mr. **. The only way I communicate with him is through my attorney. I explained I have a grant deed in my name-its a public record. I also have documentation that I am the only person listed on home loan. I can provide proof of all of this. Travelers sales associate stated the only way they could help me is for me to purchase a second policy. They can't cancel current policy or remove Mr. ** from current policy.
Next day I called again and talked with a different sales associate who stated his supervisor who was busy would call me that evening. Well, no one has called me. Mr. ** still on my policy and I'm stuck till January next year with this insurance policy. This is awful, almost like a fraud to have someone on my policy that doesn't have any ownership or responsibilities with my home. I pay for the insurance and Travelers is taking $$ out of my pocket by refusing to remove this guy from my insurance policy. By refinancing I would save $200.00 a month=$2400.00 x 30 years!!!!
I requested to travelers sales rep that this is a situation that a manager or executive higher up should be informed of. This rule that their company has is unfair to people like me. Its also a HUGE bad business practice to request that a customer pay for two policies for the same house during the same time!!!! Thank you for reading this long complaint. Sincerely, homeowner who will never buy any insurance from Geico/travelers Insurance for the rest of my life!!

We've had Travelers Home Insurance for years. We have a split level; the bottom level is carpeted. We made 2 claims to help us with water damage that was discovered pretty quickly-- this is not a mold/mildew issue. They cancelled us because we used the insurance. In 2013, the toilet tank downstairs cracked in the middle of the night. The next morning, the water was a few inches deep. We turned the water off, called Travelers, got a recovery specialist who vacuumed and used fans for a few days to make sure the water was out of the carpets.
In 2014, a pipe in the same bathroom cracked in the winter (unusually cold temperatures). This was discovered within the hour. We turned the water off & repeated the process. Why have insurance if they cancel you if you use it for relatively minor things? I feel that they set themselves up to take our money, but if you need services, watch out!

Travelers is usually among the lower-rated homeowners insurance firms on 2015 internet comparison sites. Unfortunately we didn't have internet resources when we signed on with Travelers 20 years ago. In November 2014 we filed a claim with Travelers, for roof hail damage. During the roof replacement process, Travelers sent notice giving us 45 days to explain "how and when" we would remove two tree limbs overhanging our roof (the limbs played no part in the roof damage). So I had the limbs cut within the week, and sent an email to Travelers explaining "how and when", including a statement from the contractor verifying the work performed. Four months later, Travelers shocked us with a non-renewal notice. The reason given was non-compliance with the limb removal request. I emailed Travelers, told the rep that the requested information had been sent by email. I forwarded a copy of the email.
Traveler's wrote back saying the email had been found, but now demanded pictures of the cut limbs. We were out of town, so six days later, on returning home, I emailed 21 roof pictures to Travelers. The next day Travelers stated the policy still would not be renewed. Their reason: the pictures reached Travelers one day after a Travelers "five-day limit" for reconsideration of non-renewal. We were referred to sales, who we were told would offer us a new policy.
In conclusion, Traveler's wanted us into a more expensive policy, and created a minefield of changing evidentiary requirements and misplaced communications leading to obscure deadlines, and finally refusal to renew. It may also have been due to a major hail storm hitting Austin again the other night, and Traveler's seeing a golden opportunity to get out of a claim. In any case Travelers has given no valid reason for denying renewal. The tree limb issue was resolved months ago.

I had issues with my rental property in January 2015. A pipe in the kitchen had a slow leak and damaged my laminate flooring. My tenants caught it as soon as it was noticeable and my property management company sent some out right away. ** was my insurance adjuster with Travelers. He was very slow to communicate with me and my property management company. Took his time crafting his 'letter' instead of speaking with us directly. He said my policy does not cover this kind of damage that was on going, meaning that since it was a slow leak, they would not cover any of the repairs.
How are my tenants supposed to notice something through the walls and through the floors? I asked for an appeal to see if they would cover the damage to the floors. He took over two weeks to get back to me. Said they would not be covering any of those repairs either. In the meantime, I had an asbestos test and it came back positive. This is something that Travelers would not cover either. Do not waste your time and money with this company. I am still currently going through an attorney to fight them.

I asked Travelers to quote me a home owners insurance policy with a $1,500 deductible which they did and it was priced well enough for me to switch to them. After switching, I read the fine print and the deductible is $1,500 except for Wind and Hail Storm Damage which is 3% which is $7000 for my policy! I called them and their justification was that in Oklahoma most claims are for wind and hail storm damage and that I can change to a 1% deductible for $900 more a year. What a waste of my time and certainly not what I asked for or what I was under the impression I was getting!

We've had Travelers home insurance for about 6 years. Being that it was our first home, we were pretty new to just about everything when it comes to home ownership. However, a few months ago, we had a leak from our kitchen pipe and it ended up causing an issue downstairs with our drywall. Contacted Travelers and the rep came out and was helpful. Travelers did not cover the plumbing work, which was explained to us, but did cover the plumber's diagnostic write up. We came out of our own pocket and paid to get the plumbing fix and the drywall. About 2 months later, we received a letter stating that they will not be renewing our coverage because of that claim. What is the point of paying for the insurance and then being dropped when it's used? Isn't that the purpose of home insurance? We were disappointed with Travelers and would never recommend them to anyone that has a home.

My home was broken into right before Christmas. The people stole all my valuables. I called the cops, and because they ransacked my house, the pigs put vacant on my police report. I have a 2 family home with a tenant upstairs. I stay there when I feel like it, I didn't think that was a crime to go get laid. Apparently, I have to stay there every night. Anyway some moron adjuster is coming this week to "check on the damage". My stuff is gone so idk wtf he wants, but ok. They are also telling me they are canceling me. Yea ok.... I'm getting a lawyer if I need to. And I am calling the insurance commission. Idc how much it will cost me, I'll sue their **. Total scumbags. Paying on time since 00.

On September 16th, 2014, I was home with my mother, our two dogs, and my little sister's lizards. I woke up from a nap and smelled smoke and heard what sounded like a large fire with wood cracking. I opened my door and all I saw was a large black pillar of smoke. Our house was on fire. While everyone got out, we lost everything. All of our clothes, food, medicine, scrapbooks, computers, everything was gone. Our community rallied around us however, our home insurance company treated us like trash from day one. They were never very genuine and most of the time treated us like we were inconveniencing them horribly, never mind the fact that we had just lost everything we owned and now do not have anywhere to go, no the poor people from travelers had to actually do their job, god forbid.
Thankfully we were paying travelers upwards of $2,000 a month for home insurance and after two months, and going through their designated agency (that was located in Illinois and not Connecticut) we were placed in a rental home that is too small for 5 people and two dogs. That was November, it is now February and the only work that has been done is the windows boarded up and the contents cleaned out. Both of which did not involve Travelers but our construction company and our private adjusters. Travelers has not done a thing after the fire.
Our adjusters are just now starting to even communicate with Travelers about rebuilding the house. With the estimated time of finishing being September 19th 2015, 3 days after the 1 year anniversary. That is just with the starting date of 6 days away which is not going to happen as the insurance company will not even return our or our adjusters calls and treat us like trash when we do finally get a hold of them.
The lack of kindness, empathy and sympathy really sit home when the insurance finally contacted my family on my birthday (yesterday) and told them, without any remorse, that the "project's" (OUR HOME) date of completion would now be 3 months later than originally planned. That was devastating to all of us and ruined the happy mood of celebrating my birthday. Honestly I would tell anyone that even mentions that they are buying a home not to even talk to anyone from travelers and tell them the story I have relayed here. We have lost EVERYTHING and they just treat us like trash time after time!

I have paid thousands of dollars to this company with no claim and now that I need them for hail damage to my roof. I have a contractor that has proven that my roof has hail damage and the Traveler adjuster even admitted that there is evidence of hail on the soft tin areas of my roof. The Traveler adjuster says that the many round holes on my shingles are from heat bubbles rather than hail however! This is so unfair and I am so angry at the way I've been treated, intimidated and condescendingly. I have taken this issue to the Insurance Commissioner in hopes that I can help others.

We have had Travelers Homeowners Insurance for the past 12 years and what a mistake! We had filed 2 claims because of water damage to our hardwood floors and ceiling. The adjuster who came out was extremely rude and was very difficult to work with. Just received a letter from them saying they needed proof that our kitchen floor was repaired. This was in 2012! They also threatened us that if we didn't show proof of repairs that had been done to the kitchen ceiling due to water damage two months ago, they were going to cancel our policy. We sent them everything they needed and we never missed a payment and now this! Also, they want proof of repairs to water damage in our basement. Never filed a claim for water damage in our basement! We changed over to a new insurance company and are so relieved to be done with Travelers. I would never recommend them to anyone. They are horrible.

My Dad passed away from a heart attack but had previously told me he had insurance to pay off the house if he died. We were paying almost $4000 a year for homeowners Insurance through Travelers. When he died and I contacted the insurance company they said there was no such coverage. I further questioned why it cost so much for regular home owner's insurance on a $100,000 home and was told that it was because rates went up due to hurricanes in gulf states.
I live in north Missouri. We had smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, we maintained our home so there were no structural issues, and it was less than 20 years old. I told them my father's policy was paid through the finance company and he said he had coverage to pay off the house no matter what the cause of death. They deny this. The yearly cost was outrageous for not having a death policy. My Dad insisted he had this coverage and the yearly cost certainly indicated that he should have. Needless to say I lost the home my Dad intended for me to be able to stay in.

I am a registered nurse and eight year veteran who has been working for over forty years without filing any kind of claim. I recently injured my neck lifting a three hundred pound patient with the help of my can. I began to experience excruciating pain in my left axilla, scapula, and down my arm with numbness and tingling in my hand and last three fingers. I filed a report to my company which uses travelers insurance for their comp. insurance. I received a claim number and was assigned a rep. Who I called and explained my injury and circumstances to. He approved my claim and I started a conservative treatment of doctor prescribed physical therapy. After my first treatment another woman called me and stated she was taking over my claim. She interrogated me for about 10 minutes and then notified me that my claim was on hold for fourteen days until they could determine if my claim was valid.
I found out later that she said my symptoms were not consistent with what my physician wrote. I later tried to contact her and her message stated she was out of the office Mon. to Thursday. This lady also falsified the dates that she allegedly received my claim as verified by my rehab facility. I then contacted another rep. who was filling in for the absent rep. She listened to my story and spoke with my boss and stated that they again would approve my claim which shows that the second rep. was just trying to deny my claim without just cause. They continue to send me constant paperwork to fill out to repeat my story which I have told them several times already which I believe is an attempt to deny my claim at the first opportunity.
This is my first claim so I can't compare with other insurance companies but this has been the worst company to deal with in my life. I have since read the reviews of this company many of which are similar to my experience. I would highly recommend to all that you should steer clear of this company if possible or at least read the reviews before purchasing any of their insurance. Very unprofessional company who will do most anything to avoid paying a claim. I did not even miss a day of work and my only intention was to get a little physical therapy to help the healing process. Also have non-medical people making your medical decisions!! I will never deal with this company again!!! Buyer beware!!

I cannot believe my homeowner's policy has increased more than 100 percent in just four years--and without a single claim--and with a very good credit rating. Indeed, I paid only $796 for the year of 2011, and this year they want $1,641. It seems like highway robbery! I have an automobile policy with Travelers that has also increased for no reason by about 20% a year. My agent tells me it is because they've had to pay a lot of claims--and that they've made some bad financial investments. Wha-a-a-a-attt? I have filed NO claims at all, but in 2014 my homeowner's policy jumped from $988 per year to $1,350, and now this year to $1,641???? I am a disabled veteran on a fixed income and cannot afford to pay outrageous increases like this every year. Last year I had to contact the mortgage company to increase my escrow payments (and my mortgage payment) every month--and now they think I will do it again!!! Not a chance in hell. Time for me to fine another insurer.

Requested a quote from Travelers, was given a quote changed due to what appear to be better pricing. The policy went into effect on 10/31/14. I received the first of two letters notifying me they were raising my auto premium by 333.00 a year due to a ticket that I had received three year prior while living in another state. Two weeks later I received a notice that they were increasing my homeowner's premium by 609.00 annually, due to high end customization found during a home inspection. These was a 25% increase in the premium and put my new annual premiums above the company I had changed from. This appears to be a bait and switch scene and should not be legal, but at a minimum is unethical. I will never use Travelers and am planning to immediately due to such deceitful practices. .

There was a leak underneath my kitchen sink cabinet, into the crawl space. The leak was very slow, so my water bills did not change significantly. There was never any water leaking into the kitchen. The damage showed at the back and bottom of the interior of the sink cabinet, behind all of my household cleaning products, trash bags, etc. Travelers claimed that the damage was visible and denied my claim on that basis. I made a consumer complaint to the Georgia Insurance Commissioner, whose office supported my claim. Travelers then responded that they had not denied the claim on the basis of visible damage but because of seepage over time. The letter I received denying the claim clearly states that the claim was denied because of the visible damage.
