Not responsive, they find every way to deny your claim. DO NOT do any business with this greedy company. They intentionally misinterpreted information to dodge the claim, at the same time they delay response as much as they can.

I used them for my microschool. They were easy to work with and if I had an issue always helpful and quick to respond. Customer service is friendly. The best part was it was not too expensive. Would recommend 100%.

Hiscox increased my insurance fee for my small business by more than 30% from last year. I did not add coverage or make any changes to my policy. I went to the website to login to look for details but there is no login access for customers. I called them and they told me that they don't have a login access and all questions/updates would need to be via email or a call. When I inquired about the increase and asked for specific details, they could not give me a specific reason. They cited "some states have increased the coverage requirements for small businesses including CA" where I am based. I asked what coverage, what changes, and they could not give more details. This was a predatory increase in my opinion.

I cancelled by business policy in 2023 as I closed the business. They decided without my authorization to auto renew it on 1/3/24. I called numerous times. They have no record of the transaction. I have now filed a dispute with my bank and will have to recover the funds that way. They are inept and have poor customer service and record keeping. DO NOT use this company for insurance. I would have given 0 stars if that was an option.

I called them in April 2023 to request a change to my policy. The agent was nice but said she would need to submit the request and wait and see. What the company did was open a second policy by mistake and leave the first policy unchanged. They billed my card twice for the same coverage and my repeated requests for a refund have been stonewalled. It has been almost four months since my first refund request for this error. I have called back twice and was promised refunds which have not been issued. I would not use them again if I had another option.

This was my insurance co for 5 years for my business.. They could never get my email my phone number or anything else correct. I called back two and three times some days no one would call me back and no one knew what was going on. My COI was supposed to be sent out every year with my landlord's name and information on it as well as additional insured, every year they took it off so every year I had to fight with him to get it back on. I voluntarily stopped my coverage with them and I am going to give them zero stars. If I could they will take your money and ignore you.

I wish I had done more research as I see other small business owners with similar experiences with Hiscox. In short our office had damage from a storm, claim placed in April 2022. After several ignored emails and voicemails and twice trying to get someone to help by getting the supervisor involved, which I never received a call back from either voicemail I left, I received an email denying the claim. In order for me to run a small business I have to know the vendors I partner with are going to be there when needed. I have been a customer for almost 10 years. My first time trying to make a claim and waiting until November 2022 just to get a vague email with no other communication is unacceptable from a company that customer service plays such an important role.

DO NOT TRUST this company! If you have any claims they will do everything to not honor the policy. We had two claims in 7 years with this company and the first claim took 19 months to resolve. The second claim nearly cost me my business. Things can and do happen in any business. They cancelled my policy during the 2nd claim process and that’s fine / however as a business owner we very insurance for protection and peace of mind. Do NOT chose this company for your insurance needs. They have horrible claim adjusters and you spend hours hunting them down. Not worth the headache when it matters.

So one of my employees was cleaning blinds and broke them, I told the customer that we will take care of it because I’m insured. I call Hiscox, at first the claims woman states that it’s not covered because it was part of her duties and if it broke it’s not covered. Then I said it was not part of her duties. She just so happens to have gone in that area, clean the blinds and it fell apart. She says even though it wasn’t part of her duties she was cleaning it and it’s not covered. Terrible, it's like I'm paying for something that has no purpose.

Hiscox is slow and not responsive to business claims. Waiting over a month to get a call back from a claims specialist. Called every week for over a month until my claims specialist was available to speak with me. When he did call back all he had to say is that I cannot file a claim against myself due to damages. The contractor or owner of the property has to file the claim and no guarantees they will cover the damages. Please do your research and ask your claims specialist who and what they cover before hiring them. If you try to file a claim against yourself be prepared to receive a denial letter. The client or contractor you are doing business for has to file the claim. Always ask questions before hiring this company, make sure you have them go over the policy to make sure you know what's covered and not covered.
