Bottom line: Geico or Progressive or State Farm?

State Farm has the lowest rates for drivers over 25, but their rates increase significantly for teens and seniors. Geico comes out ahead for teens, while Progressive takes the title for Seniors. Geico has the longest list of available discounts, but only Progressive and State Farm’s driving tracking program offers substantial savings that Geico doesn’t offer.

Geico is best for multi-policy holders. Geico offers the largest discount, up to 25%, for bundling. Discounts apply for policies on multiple cars or holding multiple insurance policies with Geico, who offers property insurance for homeowners and renters in addition to auto insurance.

Progressive is best for safe drivers. We like Progressive’s Snapshot program for safe drivers. Progressive advertises an average savings of $130 for customers enrolled in the snapshot program.

State Farm is best for drivers over 25. With their prices, we’d be hard pressed to recommend a better deal for drivers between the ages of 25 and 65. Quotes can vary, so you’ll definitely want to request a quote yourself before deciding.
