I canceled my 7 day free trial on day 4. 4 months later I was billed on my credit card for a 3 month subscription! 4 MONTHS LATER!! I wasn't expecting any charges on credit card so never checked until 3 month later I WAS CHARGED AGAIN! I have to cancel my card to avoid more charges. When I called their 800 number the computer system put me on hold & after 3 min it disconnected and blocked me from calling back. Now when I dial their 800 number it just beeps 3 times and disconnected. I am writing a formal complaint to Attorney General office.

I, like many below, signed up for the "free" trial membership, cancelled and then, a few months later, realized I had been charged over $150 in fees. Unlike all the other self-respecting companies out there, RealtyTrac does not notify you when you're about to be billed. They don't email at all. They simply bank on you not noticing you're being charged and seriously sneak the payments by you--this is how they make their income. It's so sad and pathetic. Customer service is no help at all, a "not my problem" type attitude. Take my advice and stay away--RealtyTrac is a SCAM if I've ever seen one.

I looked online to find some foreclosure houses on 6/26/15 with some detailed information so that I could look into purchasing some. I signed up for this site, not knowing that they were charging me $49.95. I saw nowhere the charges??? I clearly would not have paid $49.95 for the little information that I received. When I checked my bank statement today (7/9/15), I saw they deducted $49.95.
I called immediately and told the guy I had no idea they were charging me. He said it says I have 7 days to cancel and I said yes but $49.95 - I don't want this and I saw nowhere the charges. He says "You want to cancel?" like he knew I was another customer tricked into their website. SO BAD! They are ripping off people. The info I received on one house was no help to me at all. I got the same info from our local county building. Absolute rip off!!! Learned my lesson.

The website states, "Find out if this property has any current or prior foreclosure actions". The average person would look at the word "current" as meaning up to date information. Am I reading too much into the "HOT OPPORTUNITY" stamp at the top of the list? I do not understand why they are not tied to a multiple listing service or some other way for them to keep track of all these "Properties" instead of just posting a disclaimer. "Sorry, we didn't know it was sold". Where do they get this information? From other websites? This company takes NO RESPONSIBILITY for its own content.
Would you like your real estate agent to drive you around to different properties and then say, "Sorry, I didn't know it was sold" (two years ago!). I would fire him immediately! This is RealtyTrac's business, to list and sell CURRENT property INFORMATION! If nothing else they can at least program listings to fall off and get "reviewed" every 30 days. I filed a Better Business Bureau complaint ID **!!

I have been a property buyer for over 45 years, I know the game and how to get the deals. Realtytrac is a farce, DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THEIR FREE 7 DAY DEAL. They list property as foreclosed that is not foreclosed. These people are cheats plain and simple. Several times I saw property that was listed as foreclosed but in fact had been sold years before and was not in foreclosure.

Signed up for free trial and intended to cancel within 7 days but remembered less than 24 hrs after period ended. Called to cancel and ask that the $49.95 that I was charged be credited back as I didn't find any useful info on their site. Person told me he would put in a refund request but it was never processed. Cancellation email said I would still have full access to their site for 30 days, so I figured I might as well try it since they had my money. I was able to log in, but for full info I had to click on "renew membership." Don't know how they are allowed to stay in business... They provide NOTHING!

The website is full of nothing but lies. It doesn't have anything different than Zillow, although they make you think it does. It says free 7-day trial, and they won't charge you. Says they only want your credit card to sign up for the free trial to know you are a real person. Just so you know on the 7th day, you get charged. Then you get an overdraft fee, because your husband is military, and you just moved with 2 kids and can't find a ** job, and the lying cheats charged your damn card anyway. You call RealtyTrac, they can refund your money, but it's too late for the overdraft fee. They won't refund you for that. They tell you to call your bank, and say your bank will fix it. You call your bank, they tell you it's RealtyTrac's problem. Meanwhile, you can't afford diapers and formula now. ** you RealtyTrac! Scumbags!

Wish I had read these reviews before I signed up for their "free trial". I logged in once and realized that they do not offer anything you can retrieve from other websites for free. Then I noticed a $49.95 charge on my VISA. I called and they refunded the fee - and then charged me AGAIN and when I again called they decided not to refund the second charge. I believe these people are staying in business by hoping no one will notice. Shameful.

RealtyTrac is apparently in the business of taking your money. I subscribed for the service and used it for several months, approx 6, paying the $49/month fee. When I was done with the service I phoned them and requested they end my subscription. The woman who took the call was professional and courteous ensuring me she had closed the account. The following month I noticed I was charged again. I again called and was told a mistake had been made and I would be refunded the additional month. Fast forward, I've been charged again. A call was answered by a cyborg who demanded a cancellation # or there was nothing he could do. I informed him I didn't have one because I deleted the email mistakenly believing RealtyTrac was a reputable company; however, I have learned I was wrong. So, think twice before subscribing to RealtyTrac. They are apparently good at one thing, taking your money.

Realty Trac misleads you into believing they have accurate information about foreclosures. If only that were true! 100% of leads were duds. Do they ever update their records?? Probably not. They also will steal your money. Read the fine print before giving them your credit card information. If you do not call them within 7 days, they will take $50 a month from you. No warnings, just your money down the drain. Thanks, RealtyCrap.

Realtytrac got my credit card information for a free trial. I cancelled the trial and the company refuse to remove my credit card information. The excuse is that they keep your personal information on file to keep you from getting another free trial. They can use your user name and address to verify. This is just an excuse to keep your information on file and pass that information to their other companies. The terms and conditions does not spell out in plain English that your credit card will be forever on file. You are subject to ID theft and other abuses because no matter how much security a company may have, employees that have access can steal your information. Look what one employee did to Target's customers. Stay away from Realtytrac, because what information that they provide on their site is not worth risking your personal information being compromised.

If you go to Trulia, you will see lists of foreclosure that have been there for at least a couple of years. They posted scams there to lead you to their website. I got interested and signed up for the 7-day trial. They required a credit number without saying that they would charge $49.99 after the trial. I noticed this charge 1 week after that and called them to complain, but they did not refund; instead they gave me an extra month for subscription. I could find any "extra" information as a Premium member when I click on a searched property. This is a scam! Do not sign up for Trial!

Their service is poor, I received only a couple of "leads" of which bogus and lots of "potential leads" that I would have to pay an additional fee for and was not included in my annual fee of $632!!! WHAT???? After being transferred twice and ended up with a rep named "Greg" all he wanted to do was to sell me more zip codes. They put houses in their site that are not really existed and they charged my credit card without my permission. I have been going crazy calling them and being on hold for hours and at the end I ask to speak with the manager and they told me that they cannot do that and they will communicate through email with me from now on. Huge mistake. Stay away.

I rented a home in 2011. We rented through a leasing agency, which required the homeowner to be up-to-date on their mortgage in order to manage the property (at time of lease execution). As soon as we moved in, the owner stopped paying mortgage. As a safeguard, I subscribed to RealtyTrac's "renter alerts" through the entire lease.
Near the end of the lease, we received foreclosure notices, as "unnamed tenant" on behalf of the property owner. We were considering releasing for a 3rd year; however the foreclosure notices came just before the end of the lease term. Nothing ever showed up in our monthly rental alerts from RealtyTrac. It continued to show "nothing reported" as if the house's mortgage was perfectly up to date. It is supposed to alert you in the very early phases of foreclosure. But nothing.
I tried to cancel as soon as we moved out, and complained about the inaccuracy of the provided information. I had a terrible time getting them to actually cancel my subscription - I was billed two additional, non-refundable months before I had my bank block them from auto debit. We have now lived in another house, down the street from that property, for almost two years.
It is owned by the bank, overgrown, empty and decrepit. Every month, even though I no longer have a subscription, I still get the "rental alert" showing my home is still safe and secure, not reported in foreclosure in any way. A quick google search shows me that the property has indeed been foreclosed. But apparently the rental records for RealtyTrac are NEVER updated.
When I called to complain to try to get some refund on the months overage, I mentioned the inaccuracies of the reporting process and said that an appropriate customer service measure would be to consider a good faith refund of some portion of my subscription, since it had not been accurate, nor was the reporting now. They "transferred me" and disconnected the call. I called again, left messages, no response.
You would be just as effective to walk into your bathroom and flush your dollar bills down the toilet. At least your expectations of what will happen to your money will be in line with reality, and you will be able to stop wasting it whenever you like. Do NOT use RealtyTrac Renter alert. It may not be a scam, but it's an absolute waste of money, not updated, not serviced and total nonsense.

I tried the free trial for one day, to see what sort of data they had. It was useful, but much of the data was outdated (perhaps not their fault) - four of the five properties I looked at had an auction status that was pending update. Some of the auctions had been scheduled months ago. I tried to cancel. There is no means to cancel online. Call the number and get told it's outside of business hours (it's not). Get a different number to call and get "high call volume, call back between 3P and 5P, or wait". Waited for a half hour, with no indication of how long the wait would be. Called back between 3 and 5 - same thing. Called back this morning, and got "we are unable to take your call." Unethical way to earn money.

I signed up for a 7-day free trial on Feb 22, 2013, used the service for 2 days (last log-in 2/24/2013) and requested cancellation a couple of days later and before the end of the 7-day trial. I noticed a charge on my account on 3/6/2013 and called to make sure service was cancelled and to request that my account be credited immediately. The service rep was unprofessional, rude and transferred me to another equally rude person when I asked for a supervisor. These people sound like they have been trained only in the art of scamming, as they do not possess a shred of honesty or dignity. My service was cancelled and they refused to acknowledge that or to return my money. I have disputed the charge with my credit card company and coded it as unauthorized, which it absolutely was.

The Member called in and requested cancellation 3/6/2013, after the trial period had expired. The representative advised the member of the charge and that they would have access until 4/1/2013. The member inquired about a refund and the representative advised the member of the Terms of Use agreed to upon registering the account including that the membership fees are nonrefundable unless the billing was in error. The member was unable to provide any proof of a previous cancellation; however in an effort to resolve this issue to the member’s satisfaction a refund request was submitted for further review. The Member requested to speak to the refund department and was advised that all correspondence is handled via email for billing disputes. Although no refund was due, the refund request was approved as a one-time courtesy for $49.95 on 3/6/2013.

RealtyTrac charged my account with a fee of $49.95 for a service that I never used or wanted. They will not cancel your account when requested. It will only be cancelled after a year has gone by and then you receive a notice that your account will be cancelled along with a bill for $49.95. This is a scam! Beware!

Like many others, I tried the trial, which turned out to be an automated subscription with auto renewal. After 2 months, I saw the fees of $49.95 charged twice and they even charged twice for the same month! I logged in to this website only once to check it out. I found the information to be irrelevant and incomplete. So I never got back, but they charged anyway. After cancelling my account in June of 2012, they never got me any credit for the 3 months charged without providing any service. I received this month (6 months later) an email saying, "This e-mail is to notify you that your on hold period has ended and your RealtyTrac subscription has been automatically reactivated." What! So I logged in to make sure they didn't charge again my credit card, and I tried to cancel (delete) my account and billing information. This is not possible.
After sending emails to support to ask for deletion of my account and billing information and I don't want to renew or reactivate my account, a guy named Franklin said, "We received your cancellation request, and your monthly subscription with RealtyTrac was canceled 6/29/2012. You will have access to use the service until the end of your current month of access, 12/27/2012. We hope this helps." This doesn’t make sense, and it doesn’t help at all! I requested again to delete my account and billing information; the same guy Franklin’s answer is "We apologize, but the information in our system cannot be deleted. We keep the records for fair business practices." RealtyTrac is a scam and fraudulent business with unethical policies!

The Member sent an email requesting cancellation on 6/29/2012. RealtyTrac canceled the membership as requested and sent an email confirming the membership would terminate effective on 6/30/2012. It appears the Member then placed the account on a 6 month deferment which is why they were advised of the reactivation for the remaining one day of prepaid time via email in December 2012.
In the case of billing disputes, members must contact the billing department within 90 days of the disputed charge in order to receive consideration for a refund:“…In no event may Member dispute any charge or account billing hereunder later than ninety (90) days after such questionable account billing or other discrepancy should have been or could have been reasonably discovered by Member. Otherwise, except as required by applicable law, any and all such Member complaints are waived by Member.”

I tried the 7 day "free" trial and did not cancel the free subscription (that they do not tell you) before the 7 day trial was up. They charged me for a month of about $48.00. I then went ahead and requested info on 3 separate properties and got an answer on the first property after I sent the request in 3 separate times. The answer was that it was not on the market and has not been for over a year. Strike one. Second property, same thing. No response and after several attempts, the property was not on the market. Strike two. Last property - well here, their response was an agent would not be interested and that I should do the deal myself. Why use them and pay a fee? Strike three. I cancelled my subscription.

RealtyTrac service and membership policy is a fraud. I signed up for a 6 month membership and after discovering their information is junk, I immediately submitted for a cancellation of membership. Yet after receiving a cancel confirmation, I got the following: membership is cancelled but money can't be refunded because apparently RealtyTrac has a non-refundable policy. I then contacted their customer service and asked for their manager who continuously accused me of agreeing to the non-refundable policy knowingly, which is not true. I asked for someone higher-up to speak to and after a few requests, this customer service manager hung up on me! What an honorable way to deal with this situation. Stay away from this service. It will give you more headache than good. There are plenty of other good real estate services out there with better quality data and customer service!
