Unit less than 4 years old and have already put in over $4,000 in repairs and that's with 10 year warranty. Leaked evaporator coil after 3+ years, total piece of junk. Shame on you Trane. Absolutely zero help on why this happened or ownership of the issue with faulty AC units.

Here we go again 2nd coil in 2 years and compressor in 4 years a double whammy. 6 days without AC in South Florida. No idea when it will be up and running. Stayed in a hotel for 3 days and was forced to purchase a room ac so we can be at home. House is averaging 85 degrees. Reached out to Trane for support, crickets.

I have two Trane commercial chillers for my plant in Middlefield Ohio. We have had continuous failures of both chillers since install. The fans continue to fail and we discovered these fans are on recall from factory. Trane will not replace them all at once. The fans have a long lead time and are not in stock. Trane will only replace them when they fail and then charges labor to replace them. Each time they come to replace them, more fans have failed. This is just an ongoing cycle that has resulted in over 50 thousand dollars in labor charges just since June 2025, it is now October 2025. Looking for another solution - not Trane.

I purchased a brand-new Trane system through a Trane Comfort Specialist. In just three months, it has required seven service visits totaling 14 hours, yet it still isn’t operating correctly. The unit leaks, shows rust, and even has mold—problems I wouldn’t expect from a new system. I’ve contacted Trane twice through their Consumer Group with no resolution, and I also reached out to their Product Management team, explaining the issues in detail. Still, nothing has improved.
Trane’s customer service is extremely frustrating: you have to navigate their CRM system just to explain your problem. I asked to escalate, the agent said he would have typed the information and see if somebody higher up would pick up the phone. What an arrogant system. There is no real way to escalate issues, and it feels like their senior management is insulated from all problems. Their senior executives are untouchable. They give you a number on the website, but it goes straight away to the level one support. After seven service visits and 14 hours of work, it’s disheartening that Trane doesn’t take ownership of the issues, especially when the installation was handled by one of their Comfort Specialists.

I bought a unit that failed 6 months after installation. Spend more money trying to repair it and they just wash their hands blaming the installation. Keep failing, please don’t buy that brand, they do not care about the customer.

17000 for a new complete ac system less than a year and half old. Service every 6 months, boom, needs new outside unit coil, 2,000 to repair. Parts only covered. Really same class action lawsuit, didn't teach you a lesson yet. System is junk. Knew I should have went with Rudd, last system had zero issues for 8 years. Had to replace with bigger due to addition. Never again

I live in SW Florida. I replaced old A/C (Trane) which lasted 10 years in 2020, because the blower motor busted. New Trane system worked for almost 2.5 years and... blower motor went bad. It took more than 2 weeks for Pure Air to replace the motor for the working one, because 2 replacement motors worked less than one day. After replacement, some refrigerant was added for crazy price.
This September, 2025 A/C compressor stopped, because it needs capacitor change. Then the pressure switch detected bad, another 800 and after replacement of this switch the blower motor busted. Yes, it has a warranty for parts, but the labor costs 2 times more than a part. Shortly, with all these procedures I called for service with service call fee from 130 to 150 four times. Knowing Trane motors, I realized that, in best case, in 2 years the situation would continue. I call for another company and replace this Trane, I would say garbage, by another A/C system from Lennox. During installation I see motor of failed Trane blower. It was rusted, like it was in salt water. That Trane did not last even 5 years! Just waist of money. Do not buy this brand.

My unit is only two years old. It shut down and we called the company who put it in. (They do a diagnostic check every 3-6 months). The compressor is slowly shutting down. It is covered under warranty, but the service to repair is not. I called Trane, they offered $480 of the $2000 bill, and then tried to blame on environment and installation. They took over two months to respond and honestly don’t seem to care that a new unit is not working. I would give a 0 star if it was an option. Would not recommend this company to anyone!

ProSkills has gone out of their way to make everything right and upgrade our thermostats no charge and to make sure everything is working satisfactory.
Original Review: Aug. 23, 2025
We bought 3 Trane A/C units with XL850 thermostats. In the past 3 years we have had to replace the thermostats 7 times; one unit 3 times, 2 units twice. One serviceman told me some of these thermostats "are bad out of the box". The units are covered under the warranty but the I pay the $275 labor fee, you can do the math. Their only solution is to have me upgrade to a thermostat that cost $1000 each; so $3k to me. Those are the only two that work with these A/C units. Since Trane will only reimburse them for the original faulty thermostats I'm stuck with them on $30K worth of A/C units. Not a good scenario and not good support.

Called customer service to ask if I could put a "soft start" on my Trane XR air conditioner. The person I spoke with said she could not find an answer so I ask to speak with a technician and she said that was not an option. Ask to speak to a supervisor and after over 10 minutes on hold she said no one was available. Told me to contact a local contractor. Trane should be able to tell me if I can have this installed without doing any damage or voiding the warranty before I spend the money to have it done and something goes wrong and then the response will be NOT RESPONSIBLE.

The unit was very expensive but they all are this year 2025 due to new refrigerant and regulations for the new green deal.!!! Repairman here today, very nice and knowledgeable. Replaced the capacitor and has to order and change out the condenser fan motor. I’m not happy. Should work for the cost.

If zero stars were possible that is what I rate Trane. Package unit installed in Fall 2021 and it’s been nothing but problems since. Frozen coils multiple times, blower motor replaced, multiple leaks, TXV replaced multiple times. Mind you this unit is under a paid, twice yearly maintenance program too. In May, the coils froze over again and I was told there was leak but the parts needed would take a minimum of three weeks to be manufactured. Contacted Trane customer service and they were insanely slow to respond. After waiting weeks without AC in Florida heat, I bit the bullet and just bought new unit (different brand) and now Trane says they can’t compensate at all. Safe yourself time and money by selecting a different brand.

I paid $21,000 to have a Trane unit installed 2 years ago, after the first season I started to have issues losing Freon. The compressor had a bad weld and leaked. After adding Freon a couple of times, the Trane recommended installer finally found the problem. It leaked from the factory. Trane cover the parts but not the install so it costed $5500 for the labor. After 10 calls and 20 emails, Trane cut me a check for $800, didn’t even pay for all of the Freon I had to add. I wish I would’ve just ripped it out, took the loss and replaced it with another brand.

We bought a Trane because we were told: they never break, they are made in America so it’s easy to get the parts to fix when they do. Our unit is now 3 years old. For the first two years it broke once a year. They always have to order the parts so we get to enjoy no air conditioning in 100 degree weather for 7 days! Currently it has broken 4 times this month! It is an unbelievable disaster.

My unit is 3 years old. Brazing on the pipes failed just 2 weeks out of warranty. Trane refused to repair. Shoddy work at best in this opinion. I've had the repair guy out at least 3 times. And coming to this site now because my unit is failing yet again. Very sorry to have bought a Trane. They are correct to say nothing runs like a Trane because I hear others really work.

Replaced a 12-year-old Heil central unit with a Trane XL15c, which was a mistake. The old unit was rusting itself to death, but still cooled better than the new unit. The Trane dehumidifies so much our eyes are dried shut in the morning. The air coming out of the vents very slow. The air is cool but not cold. The so-called high efficiency runs 24/7 and our electric bill has never been higher. Worst AC unit I’ve ever had.

As an active duty military member, I’ve dealt with many major appliances and home systems over the years. I’ve never experienced anything as frustrating, disappointing, or exploitative as my experience with Trane. My home came with a Trane HVAC system that catastrophically failed just six years after installation, well short of the “15-20 year” life expectancy Trane claims. I later discovered it could have had a 10-year warranty, but only if the original homeowner registered it within 60 days. I had no way of knowing this as a buyer, nor was I ever informed I was inheriting a system already out of coverage due to a paperwork technicality.
Trane’s refusal to stand by its product, even partially, shows where their priorities lie: legal loopholes, not loyal customers. Their policy protects them, not consumers, and absolutely punishes military families like mine who move frequently and aren’t there for the original installation. Their customer service was just as bad: long delays, vague responses, and ultimately an insulting “loyalty credit” that wouldn’t even touch the cost of repair. My family endured over a month of brutal summer heat while Trane stalled and avoided responsibility.
Trane likes to market itself as reliable, but the moment something goes wrong, they’re nowhere to be found. They do only what’s legally required, and nothing more. If you’re considering a Trane product, understand this: they will not help you unless forced. And if you’re a military family or second homeowner, you’re even more likely to get burned. Avoid Trane. Choose a company that honors its product and respects its customers. Protect yourself and, more importantly, protect your family.

Do not buy a Trane heating system for your home! The furnaces are not reliable and are prone to frequent failure. The XE 90 installed on my home failed six times for the same reason. Control boards fail repeatedly. Don’t plan on consistently having heat in your house if you install a Trane system. Trane customer service is non existent. They don’t care. However, the national advertising is actually accurate! “Nothing runs like a Trane”. That's true. ALL other furnace brands run better than a Trane. Buyers Beware!

I’ve always considered this brand/system to be a reliable choice, but my recent experience has been extremely frustrating, especially with the ongoing issue of parts availability. I’ve been trying to get part #COL27748 for a repair, but it’s been backordered for an indefinite amount of time with no clear timeline for when it’ll be back in stock. Given that it’s the middle of summer and my AC is down, this has made living conditions unbearable.
It’s hard to understand how such a critical part can be out of stock for so long, and no one at customer service seems to have an answer. I would expect higher management to take these kinds of issues more seriously, especially when they’re affecting customers' comfort and well-being. The lack of communication and solutions is disappointing. If you’re in need of quick repairs or a part that could be vital to the functioning of your system, be prepared for delays. I hope the company works on addressing this and finding more effective ways to get customers the parts they need on time.

Bought new high-end Trane system in 2020. Since then, have had a leak at the outside unit, replacement of evaporator coils, twice, replacement of the heat strips, and replacement of the run capacitor. Also, all this maintenance has resulted in broken door panels on the air handler unit. This system has been a lemon, and $25,000 later, there's no way Trane deserves even 1 star.

Absolutely do not recommend Texas Coast Heating & AC or Trane products. We’ve been without AC for 12 days in the middle of a Texas summer because they were waiting on Trane to ship a part that was under warranty. That’s bad enough, but then Texas Coast Heating & AC told us it would be another 6 days before they could come install the part—despite knowing how long we had already been without cooling. There was zero sense of urgency or customer care. No loaner unit offered, no updates unless we reached out first, and no real concern for the fact that we were sitting in dangerous heat waiting on service that should’ve been prioritized. When you spend thousands on a name like Trane, you expect reliability and better support. We received neither. Save yourself the frustration—look elsewhere.

I bought a Trane XR 15 5 ton ac unit for my home last year after researching a lot which unit to go with. Recently I noticed that the compressor inside is made by LG Electronics and written as made in Korea. I was totally disappointed with the purchase when I saw that. Well, I am not a tech, but when I researched, I heard about the Climatuff compressors which is made in USA and all. But when I saw this I felt like I got a cheap unit or some. Like I said I am not a tech to say which is good or which is bad or about the durability and efficiency of that compressor. But if I had known about this earlier I would have bought some other brands. I am not sure about the durability, efficiency or performance of the unit compared to one made here.

My Mother in 2020 who was 91 years old at the time had a 5 ton Trane unit installed at her home. In 2022 the unit broke down twice, in 2023 the unit broke down again 2 times and now in 2025 here we are again. This unit was not even 5 years old when this last occurrence happened. Something within this unit has to be causing the evaporator coils to malfunction. Trane has refused to replace the unit stating that the warranty only covers replacing the parts and not the unit itself.
My Mother who is now 96 just had to spend 2 weeks in Florida with no AC as she could not afford to go to a hotel and did not want to leave her home. The dog ended up having to be hospitalized at the ER with pneumonia most likely brought on by a heatstroke. Trane used to have such a good reputation for having the best products but not any longer. Trane is by far now the worst company to ever deal with so buyer beware. Don’t end up in a Trane wreck like we have. I tried to upload photos and a video but was unable to due to error messages.

We have the thermostat set at 75 and the unit can't get below 80.
