What is Rentokil?

Rentokil is a pest control company with locations all around the world. Its brands include Western Exterminator, Presto-X and J.C. Ehrlich in North America. Rentokil provides comprehensive pest management and disinfection services to numerous business sectors, such as food processing, educational facilities and multifamily housing, although it services residential homes too.

Rentokil’s pest control experts can help you manage a variety of pests, from rodents to birds. You can also take advantage of specialist services, like fumigation or air curtain installation. Air curtains prevent flying insects from entering your building by creating a wall of air in front of doors. This is a great option if you have automatic doors or doors that hang open, like at a warehouse.

How does Rentokil work?

Rentokil has a seven-step treatment process:

  1. Inspection and monitoring: You can schedule a pest inspection at your convenience, and a team member conducts an on-site pest review. Rentokil monitors the property to determine the level of infestation and reveal any hidden pests.
  2. Pest identification: Rentokil’s trained professionals identify insects, animals, weeds or other undesirable guests on your property.
  3. Evaluation and diagnosis: All possible outcomes are discussed with you before the pest control experts take action.
  4. Client education: You’re provided with resources and information so that you’re able to recognize and prevent future infestations.
  5. Recommendations of integrated pest management methods and techniques: You’re given a no-obligation quote and recommendation, as well as professional preventive advice. Rentokil tries to offer nondisruptive, environmentally sensitive treatment methods.
  6. Treatment and documentation: Your pest expert goes ahead and applies the proper treatment for the specified pests. You get a report of all chemicals applied to your property at the end of your treatment.
  7. Follow-up: The company schedules follow-up visits to confirm that the treatment was effective and that you’re happy with your service.

You can manage your Rentokil services online with PestNetOnline. With PestNetOnline, you can get proof of service reports, monitor your location’s performance, access audit-compliant documentation and get an overview of pest conditions at your locations.

I would like to share a very positive review with Rentokil in Toronto - tech rep Marshall. A very stressful time having raccoons access our attic due to negligent neighbours not maintaining their properties, was made a lot less stressful with having Marshall available for daily consult to steer us through this problem.

I was a customer via Terminix, which Rentokil bought in 2022. Costs increased. I was recently given a verbal estimate for an additional service. In the written quote, the cost increased by $550. When I called to cancel my service, they offered to reduce my monthly rate. I don't want to support that type of business practice.

I’m not sure which Arrow Environmental Services location David works at, but people need to know how scammy this company is. I wish I had checked Rentokil’s BBB page before signing up for their lawn service. Since I first looked hours ago, the number of complaints has increased. See screenshots. As I’ve told everyone I’ve spoken to at Arrow: Everything Jose Diaz told me was false — except that Arrow is now Rentokil. He said there was a special where I’d only pay $170 for the first treatment. But I was billed $227. He claimed the $227 would be waived if I signed up during the special. That never happened.

We walked the property, and I pointed out the ditches and areas behind the fire pit. He assured me they’d be treated. I asked if I’d get a notification the day before service. He said yes — and that the tech would text when en route. I also asked if I’d get an email detailing the treatment. Again, he said yes. None of that happened.

Two days later, the tech showed up unannounced at 8:30 AM. No email, no text. I had been up sick the night before and was still asleep. My dog barked loudly when the tech rang the doorbell — a terrible wake-up. After checking my cameras, I saw that the tech skipped several key areas: Didn’t treat the ditches. Didn’t go behind the fire pit. Skipped grass between trees by the sidewalk. A couple of spots looked greener, but weeds were untouched and only grew faster. I never received any email about what was applied, as Jose promised. He seemed more focused on pushing insulation and pest services than actually listening.

There are multiple emails between me, Jose, and the tech, Andrew. I’ve repeatedly asked for my account to be canceled and requested all further communication be in writing. Yet David still left me a voicemail. Even a note and a call to Cincinnati hasn’t resolved the issue. I just filed a BBB complaint. Go read the Rentokil complaints — same stories: incomplete service, aggressive billing, and threats of collections. That’s what happened to me.

This entire experience has been a disaster from day one. David left two voicemails claiming my account was canceled, but the billing department continues harassing me. I want a written confirmation (email or USPS) that the account is closed with a zero balance. Then I never want to hear from them again — for any reason. By the way, I checked the Sunbiz website and found that Rentokil Pest Services withdrew their licensing application and are now inactive in Florida. I couldn’t find an active pest control license for either Rentokil or Arrow Environmental Services.

BEWARE CONSUMERS! We HAD Bug Out for our lawn service. We have over an acre of property, and we require Bug Out, or the like, to prevent weeds in our grass and keep out the bug infestation. Despite watering our grass regularly with a comprehensive irrigation system (our water bill is in excess of $600/month in the summer months), a large portion of our front grass died. This particular area appeared to have been infested and taken over by weeds. When we reported the issue to the guy servicing our grass, we asked him what we were to do about the weed infestation and the dead grass and his response was, "I don't know!" We contacted the District Manager who did not get back to us for over a week.

When he finally returned our call, he came out and looked at the grass and told us the dead grass was due to lack of water. So, we turned on our comprehensive irrigation system to show him there is no lack of water to that area as evidenced by the full coverage of water and the aforementioned $600/month water bill. The DM quickly changed his tune from lack of a sprinkler system to, "Well there's not enough water in this area!" Despite ALL evidence to the contrary BUG OUT WAS NOT WILLING TO TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THEIR LACK OF PREVENTATIVE SERVICE. The DM assessed our front lawn and said we would need to be serviced twice with a 3-week window in between to get rid of the weeds that had grown in front.

Following, our regular service guy came out one time and then never returned. He was scheduled to come back 3 weeks later, and, on the date, he was scheduled to come he never showed up. We reviewed our security camera footage to find that the Bug Out truck did pass our property on that date during our service window. The driver drove right by our home, never stopping, not even slowing down and never treating our grass. When we called to inquire and express our frustration, we were told it was canceled due to weather! So, we rescheduled and again he was a no-show. Yet Bug Out can point their finger at us as if it was our negligence that caused the problem. ABSOLUTELY NOT.

Bug Out has been fired due to their lack of service and accountability. We will not be paying the final bill as it has now cost us $650 in time and materials to replace our dead grass and restore the remaining grass to health. BUG OUT, BEWARE BECAUSE MY RESOLVE ON THIS WILL NOT FADE AWAY. I HAVE OPENED UP A COMPLAINT AGAINST BUG OUT WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. It will be a cold day in he** before I use my hard-earned money to fix a problem BUG OUT CREATED AND THEN TOOK ZERO RESPONSIBILITY! Anyone reading this, stay away from Bug Out. Bug Out, you owe me $650.

Most horrible service provider in the state of FL. Do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs!!! Since they took over fl pest control it has been a nightmare. Lack of communication, follow through, wrong techs or no techs at all showing up for quarterly maintenance. We were customer for nearly 4 years and they completely screwed us in mid season. Wasted 6 months of time speaking with countless customer service reps, supervisors, techs, and even our original sales rep - Kyle who all did zero! Continued to receive new contracts to sign with increased prices, signed, returned, and still no tech showed up. This place is a joke. Found out they are no longer even in USA. Finally had enough and wrote them letter to cancel all contracts. Do not waste your time & avoid at all costs!
