I purchased my LG dishwasher on april 11, 2015. I did not purchase an extended warranty as LG was supposed to be a high end appliance company and felt the product would not require service right away. However, I was wrong. One week after my 1 year purchase date, the dishwasher had an oe error code flashing one morning, which I did not know what that meant. So I continue to use it and instead of running at night while sleeping I decided to run before we went to bed. The dishwasher when first starting had a loud grinding noise, which sounded like it was trying to take off and start flying.
I went online to find that this is a problem with the dishwasher and the company does not back their warranty. I started a chat at 8:38 to resolve the issue and remained on the chat until 10:52, with no resolution. I then called the company direct. Spoke with a rep and a supervisor, both of which informed me my dishwasher had no warranty. Only after I had to contact Sears, get a duplicate receipt, upload it to them and they reviewed it. Since I got a discount on my dishwasher due to the door having had swirl marks on the front it voided any extended warranty. Therefore, I like many others will have to pay a serviceman to come repair my dishwasher that I purchased just over a year ago. I would tell anyone looking for any type of appliance. Do not buy LG anything!!! Their customer service is awful and their warranty is ridiculous.
Update 5/13/16: I received from LG names and numbers of authorized repairman in our area. Called their repairman, was told by them "Oh, maam, you are not in my service area." So, therefore, I have no one to service my dishwasher.

I bought an LG dishwasher LDF7774ST. This dishwasher is not cleaning my dishes. I followed instructions from Troubleshooting manual but still did not clean my dishes. I placed a glass that I only used to drink water with; but it did not clean. It came out dirty. Called LG Headquarters - they sent several Local Appliance Repair Co. but to no avail (8 service calls). At this point, LG representative told me and my husband that they have nothing they could do. I urge consumers to not purchase LG dishwashers because they don't work. They look good but life is not good with this dishwasher.

My husband and I were recently upgrading our stainless steel appliances. Keep in mind I loved my old ones but my daughter was getting a new house so we thought we would give her ours and get we! I did some research and found the items I wanted at Lowes! I had them delivered and loved the way they looked! After my first load of dishes I was wanting my old appliances back. I called lowes and they told me oh they would never recommend an LG Dishwasher! Not only is the dishwasher horrible it does not get the dishes clean and leaves water and spots on everything but the stainless steel always looks horrible! I've had stainless before but for some reason this brand is horrible! I am now noticing small dings in the appliances. It is just my husband and I were very careful so the durability of these appliances is horrible.

Man I wish we would have paid for new racks for our old KitchenAid. My blood pressure rises every time, every time I load up this crappy LG dishwasher. The tines are badly located, what is with the big area on the lower rack that had no tines? Because of the rack/tine design, we get about 20% less dishes in this thing. Then it runs forever but that is part of all new dishwashers. I like how sites say to run the water first so the water is hot. Yep KitchenAid heated the water much better. It had a heating element on the bottom that dried the dishes. KitchenAid had a filter on the bottom that was easily removable. The spray arms on the LG are so flimsy. I wonder if they will last 2 years. Errr!!!

Just the appliances that have anything to do with moisture. This is not a healthy situation. Please see attached pictures.

My husband and I bought one of our first brand new appliances last April when we purchased our first home. It was an LG dishwasher and let me just start off by saying that it is the worst appliance I have ever used, which is completely disappointing. Out of all of the machines I have used in my life this one wins the prize of worst dishwasher. First of all, when I am busy cleaning the kitchen I have got to remember to pull out the bottom rack slowly and carefully, otherwise it will just fall off the "track". To say there is a track though isn't really accurate. It seems like LG just decided to throw some wheels on the rack and call it a day. Don't get me wrong, I don't come in like a raging bull and just throw everything open. I just don't think it should have to be in my mind to remember to open slowly so things don't get all thrown off. It's very annoying.
Another issue I have is that the dishwasher doesn't clean! The normal cycle will not clean my dishes. I have to use the heavy duty option in order for them to come out even a little clean. I have always rinsed my dishes before putting them in any dishwasher I have ever used, but this one requires my dishes to be put in completely spot free. If they are not spot free, they do not come out clean. It really is almost pointless to even use our LG dishwasher. Last but not least, the soap dispenser gets stuck quite often! I run the dishwasher on the heavy duty cycle for almost 3 hours, and find out the soap dispenser didn't even open! We bought our machine from Home Depot in Pontiac, MI and can't imagine buying another LG appliance. We were excited to have our first new appliance but were let down. Life's good but LG dishwashers are not.

LG cleans fairly well, but if dishes sit they get moldy. It's quiet when running. Quiet. Would like to have had the racks designed differently to accommodate more sizes of dishes and glassware. White, plain. The brackets supporting the dishwasher broke within a year so my dishwasher is without the side supports that hold it in place. When the dishwasher door is opened, the racks all slide forward and the lower rack goes off the tracks quite quickly.

Spent a lot of money on this attractive stainless dishwasher. After minimal use (work out of town, used it maybe once a month) the pump quit. I live out of town, can't get anyone out here to try and fix it. Guess it's going to the dump, probably only did 20 loads of dishes. Lousy loading racks. Though the interior is quite large, the racks don't seem able to nest as many dishes as my old one. About all this dishwasher does is look nice, stainless, hidden controls, sleek handle. Never ever buy a LG dishwasher. Even if I'd have bought the extended warranty, the pump and service call are not covered.

It does wash the dishes clean, but is noisy and slow. I like that I can pick a bottom or a top wash or both. It's white, so can go with any kitchen, but is getting a bit long in the tooth. It cannot take really good water pressure as it causes it to make a high pitched sound and water has to be turned back to a trickle. The door did not last long - I am going to call it. The hydraulics of the door have given way and is very heavy - does not affect the wash but is not a good thing to have happened. Other than those things it pretty good.

Cleans very nicely but is just starting to get noisy. Love the ease of use and the rinsing it spot free. Perfect for a family of 4 but I can see it's going to be too large when kids go to college soon. Modern looking, looks up to date. Wish I had gone with the stainless steel finish but that was much more money. I love the dishwasher but sometimes it's too large like when the kids go away for weekend with friends.

Runs silent and cleans well. Steam sanitize, power scrub, regular modes as well as ability to choose wash strength. Standard, under counter. Has very clean lines with no brand on the visible front of the machine. When first purchased, the original dishwasher was faulty and would not work. We purchased through Best Buy who replaced the machine a week later and since then we have had no issues with it.

Happy with the way it performs. It is just every year, this being year 4, I have had to have a service technician come out and replace the whole pump assembly. The dishwasher starts squealing during the whole wash cycle. Not much at first, but after about a month of running almost everyday, it goes to constant. The noise is quite annoying. Like I said today is the 4th time I am having service for this issue. Thank goodness they offer the extended warranty. I will keep purchasing as long as they offer it. But seriously after purchasing a 800 dishwasher, I am still spending 100 for the extended warranty every year.

I just purchased new LG appliances about 4 months ago. All are ok except the dishwasher. There are two main issues I continue to have. The bottom rack continues to come off track and it appears the design of the dishwasher does not have a large enough track to keep the wheels on track. I continue to have issues with the dishes not getting clean. If we do not pre-rinse the dishes completely, they will come out dirty with the residue dried on. I generally use the "normal" cycle, which takes 2 1/2 hours.
I called customer service and was told that the "normal cycle" is designed to reach a temperature of 96 degrees and have a moderate spray intensity. The agent further explained that this is not a sufficient wash cycle to clean dishes unless they are completely pre-washed! She recommended using "Power Scrub", a cycle that takes close to 3 hours, or adding in addition rinse cycles to The "normal" cycle. I am so disappointed that I spent over $700 on a dishwasher that is not designed to wash dishes! Please DO NOT make the same mistake.

This is the first step on my mission to educate my friends before anyone buys a new dishwasher. Do Not buy LG brand dishwasher. If you do, do yourself a favor and buy the extended warranty, you will need it. I started having an issue right after mine went out of warranty. I paid for one repair, about $150, and that didn't fix the problem. Then I had a different repair person come out, factory authorized mind you, and he replaced some parts. He was here 3 times for another $350 and the problem persisted. I didn't bother to call him back, just thought I could live with the noise that was coming out because the machine was cleaning my dishes just fine.
However, last night the same error code that started the whole thing happened again. So today I called to speak to LG Consumer services. I once again got the runaround, with the "technician" telling me I had to perform something on the machine and see if it worked. I gave him hell and reminded him how much I spent on the high end dishwasher and how much I have spent in repairs already and I think it's BS to expect the consumer to do anything to try and fix it. The first time I called, he had me running around looking for screwdrivers so I could level a dishwasher that didn't need leveling! So, I told him I wouldn't do what he wanted me to and I didn't expect to have to pay for yet another service call for this crappy machine.
I wanted to speak to his supervisor. When she got on the phone, I went through the whole thing again and of course the parts that were replaced are now not under warranty, so the only thing they could do is suggest I call the repairman again and have him call them to assist in figuring out what the problem. Of course I would need to pay for all of this, since there is no warranty left. I told the supervisor that I don't think that I will. I will go and buy a different dishwasher of another brand before I put more good money after bad. I have already spent more than half in repairs on what I paid for the stupid thing in the first place.

This has the same style filter as all of my previous dishwashers, but this one's filter assembly does not come apart for cleaning. When the glasses have sandy bits left on them I remove the lower spray arm and the water guide tube on the back and take out the grids, screens, and mesh screens in the bottom. After brushing and rinsing everything I put it back together and it is good to go for another 6-8 months. The problem with this unit is that the lower screens, grids, and mesh is one-piece. It does not come apart. There is trapped grunge inside and I can shake some of it out, but most of it remains trapped.
I called the company. She just kept repeating the manual- "It is self-cleaning, you do not need to clean it, removing it voids the warranty." The manager said to call the repair technician. I ordered her to send me to their service/repair department so they can advise me how to clean this unit. She said they won't speak to me unless I am an authorized technician with an official technician number. She kept trying to set me up with an appointment with a repairman- while telling me that the warranty won't cover this. I will have to rinse and shake the filter unit and hope I can get out; if not, I can order a new one from Sears for $60.

Bought a LG dishwasher from Pacific store inside of Best Buy store in Tampa, Florida last Nov 28, 2014. Even after reading the reviews, stating that the machine left a stranger smell, didn't clean well... I was not totally convinced. :-( BIG MISTAKE!!! REVIEWS - BELIEVE THEM - Yes, the machine is not good AT ALL. The machine is not used too much, but after few month... the smell that was coming from it was incredible disgusting!!! It looks like something had died inside (let me make clear, I do rinse all dishes before I put them inside of the dish washer). Glasses started getting to be white. Plates I could feel there were something being left on them, they do not dry completely. After few months I got 2 guests in my home and the machine got to be used every day... OMG - then I really could see the damage - I finally decided to call for service after 10 month.
CUSTOMER SERVICE - part 2. When I called the LG, they said they could only find me by my phone number, but they did not found me. I called the store I bought it from - Pacific inside Best Buy, they said ONLY by phone number, I gave them, but they would not find me over the phone. So I walked to the store with my phone bill on my hand. THEN THEY FOUND ME.
All this took me another month to deal with. Now I am on the 11 month of my warranty, my time is running out (which Best Buy can find you by whatever info you give them)... Best Buy manager step in, apologize and ask the manager of Pacific to make an appointment for service call for me. Yes, they did, but today I was waiting from 8 a.m to 12 pm and nobody show up. I called the company, and they said, they don't service my area. So I said, "What? So, after me spending all morning waiting, and not going to work, you don't come?" They said they had called LG, and told them they don't service this area, and LG should had given my schedule to another company.
I called LG again... LG said "I apologize... someone else can go to your home on Wed." I said, "I can't not go to work on Wed." They said, "Well, Advance Tech Service, did not tell us that they did not service your area. We cannot do anything." So I said, "Well, again, it's me, the consumer who gets in the middle of Best Buy, Pacific, LG, and Advance Tech Service..." No one wants to take responsibility for the mistake, for my pay day that I didn't make. The LG manager hang up on my face. It's rude, cruel and not right. The only thing I want is a machine that work properly and well, and someone responsible the mistake. LG and customer service - VERY BAD - DO not buy from them or from Pacific.
Updated on 11/12/2015: OMG - the LG service man came to my home yesterday. After showing him my machine, how dirty my dishes were, stainless steel full of white soap, cups of coffee with all the coffee inside, I told about the terrible smell that would come out between washes, showed my cabinet that had some type of damaged on the side due to moisture... He couldn't find anything wrong with it. He said the only problem was "You have to turn your faucet to hot water to a 120 degrees before turning the dish washer on. This is the problem with your machine..." He even suggested that I would install a heater under my sink!?! I have lived in this house for 16 years, and I have had only one dishwasher before, which basically broke after enough use, and always worked perfect. What is he talking about?!?! Please help!!! Its under warranty and do not want to fix it.

I called LG service department to warranty my dishwasher pump motor for loud grind\knock noise and found my warranty void due to me diagnosing my own dishwasher (my factory warranty will only cover the part not labor). I offered to send the motor to LG confirm default in pump and I offered to pay a LG service tech to diagnose and confirm the problem with the pump motor and let LG refund me for the service call after confirmation of default, but turned down for both. My only option would have been to pay labor for diagnosis and repair to receive my warranty part for a 6-year-old dishwasher, but does not matter now. Bought LG appliances for our new home a year ago; love the refrigerator & stove, but hate the dishwasher! I too, wish I had researched this website before purchasing. The dishwasher does get bad odors occasionally, & my husband checked the filter in it, but it was clean. I put a cup of vinegar in a wash cycle of dishes & it went away. The reason there was no food in the filter is because we thoroughly rinse, almost wash, the dishes before we run it 1-2 times a week! Very disappointed in the cleansing of the dishes! If a knife had mayo on it when put into the dishwasher, even a small amount, it's still on there when it comes out! Doesn't clean coffee stains out of cups, either. I would never buy another LG Dishwasher or recommend it! It is very quiet, but I would trade the noise, for clean dishes! No other problems so far!

I purchased an LG dishwasher in August, 2013. Immediately, I noticed that the lower rack frequently fell off the side rails and would become stuck. I would have to lug a heavy rack full of dishes back on track. The reason was that there was no channel or lip to prevent the wheels from sliding off the 1/4" ledge. In addition, the adjustable tines would just fall over, causing the dishes to fall over as well. LG sent me a new lower rack, but the tines still fall over frequently, although not constantly. The tines, however, are too short to support a standard dinner plate and the plates just flop over, chip and don't get clean.
I have also had an OE code twice, which is the drain pump. I have made MANY complaints to LG, resulting in an extension of my warranty. I finally requested a replacement and a supervisor, Redonald, said my extension was a "one time only" extension and they would not replace the dishwasher, despite the fact that the lower rack system is CLEARLY a design defect that could easily be remedied with an aftermarket installed channel. I went online and there are MANY complaints about the lower rack and the drain pump. Do not buy this dishwasher. It's awful.

Why the heck would I spend over $1000 with the 5-year warranty that Home Depot sold me for a machine that only lasted 90 days before a major repair happened? It's not Home Depot's fault but the stores have got to start calling out these companies who are selling inferior products and charging an arm and a leg for them. I now have a repair that took 3 days for a service tech to come out, only to tell me that it will be 5 days or more before the part is in and then they will call and schedule the repair.
I understand how repairs might happen but strangely, I had a Maytag that did the same thing at the 90-day mark too! It went on to have 3 other major repairs such as leaking all over my floor and ruining the wood (was a slow leak I could not see because it was under the machine), control panel stopped working at 90 days, would not clean dishes and the final straw was another control panel replacement. All under 1 year. So I got HD to take it back and give me a new machine and guess what I picked out??? LG... big mistake. LG wants to repair a dishwasher which has never worked. I tried to explain to them that I was not comfortable with that but their policy is they will not replace a unit until it has 4 major repairs in 1 year. I told them this was broken from the factory. They said there was nothing they could do but repair it.
So far we have been without a dishwasher for almost two weeks. The technician who came to assessed the LG dishwasher was improperly installed. In reading the reviews 279 owners of LG dishwashers felt the LG dishwasher was a joke, poorly designed. We replaced a Magic Chef dishwasher, that was over 27 years old, and still was in working order. The stainless LG dishwasher looks smart, but in reality the dishwasher is crap. LG corporate office said they will not repair the 14 months old LG dishwasher and if we were not satisfied sue them in court. I will.

Purchased this dishwasher 4 years ago. Last week we started getting the code "PF" which means power failure. From the LG comments posted, they would lead you to believe the power supply was interrupted and the PF is only a code and not a failure/fault code. Turns out it was a fault. We turned it on last night and the control panel immediately burned out. Saw some sparks/flashes and a puff of smoke and electrical smell. Dishwasher was then disconnected from the power source. If you have the PF code you should note this is very probably the control panel shorting out. Unfortunately, dishwasher failed just outside of our extended warranty period. We will definitely switch brands. Dishwashers should last longer than four years!!! Definitely dissatisfied with the LG dishwasher.

We purchased a LG dishwasher model no. LDF8764ST ($800) four months ago and after using it ONCE, it stopped working and would not power on. I was not able to return the dishwasher where purchased and was informed that I had to deal directly with LG. I called LG and was scheduled a visit from a repairman. The repairman never showed up (took time off from work), so I again called LG. I was informed that the repairman had not received the ticket from LG.
I indicated that since the product was defective (it worked once) and I was not comfortable risking taking another day off from work and having the repairman be a no-show again, that I would like the product either replaced or receive a refund. I was told that my only option was to reschedule the repairman. I declined and purchased a different dishwasher from another manufacturer that has worked like a charm since it was delivered/installed. This has been the worst product and service I have ever encountered.

We bought an LG LDF7551ST dishwasher about two years ago based upon positive consumer ratings. I even recommended one for my parents. After about 6 mos, started to hear a high pitched screeching sound - I read other consumers experienced the same problem. Repair person said it was a bad ball bearing in the motor. Replaced the motor... Unfortunately, my parents had to replace their motor as well. Now, our dishwasher doesn't dry at all. Excessive amount of water after a normal wash cycle. Will never purchase another LG product - going back to a Bosch.

Purchased LDF6920ST from Pacific Sales in 2011. Major leak and since dishwasher was moving from under cabinet, we called the installation company. The guys came out and replaced the water hose, and reinstalled the dishwasher. They turned the dishwasher back on and the water continued to leak from the bottom. Since they are installers, they checked the best they could for additional hose leaks but could find none. They recommended we get a new dishwasher! Shouldn't a $639 dishwasher last more than 4 years?! I'm not happy.

Our 25-year-old Kitchen Aid dishwasher died and sadly our landlord replaced it with an LG dishwasher. Whether it works to our satisfaction has yet to be seen; the design is my big complaint. We are bending over literally almost to the floor to load the dishes. I own some giant pots, but none big enough to justify the enormous gap between the top and bottom shelves. It's ridiculous. I actually stubbed my toe and injured myself on the open door, which practically rests on the ground! The prongs are lined too far apart to economically place small dishes and plates and all in a row, so attempting to find a sensible way to group like dishes and glasses is pointless. Fortunately, we hadn't thrown away the utensil tray from the Kitchen Aid; I don't understand the covers on the junky LG tray, some of which stay open and some don't. It's just a cheaply and poorly designed, impractical product.

I have a large family so we have to run several loads daily, this machine takes up too much of my time. Another complaint I have is it has a lock on it to lock the keys but it doesn't lock the power button so my baby turns it off in the middle of cycle. This is even more frustrating because it takes another 2 to 3 hours to cycle. I wish I would have kept my $200 Hotpoint - it was much better.

How in the world does this happen in such a short time with everything is suppose to be sealed. LG told they couldn't or wouldn't do anything because it was out of warranty. Purchased an LG dishwasher less than 5 months ago. We were doing a kitchen remodel so it has only been used the last month or so. I have never been so dissatisfied by an appliance. The dishwasher is designed poorly (we purchased the unit with the three racks - the top rack being slim and designed for spatulas, knives or small items). There is no correct way to load this machine as all the racks and prongs fall over during the cycle. The dishes are not clean - I hand wash everything before it enters the machine and they are worse when they come out than when they go in.
The machine takes over 2 hours to run on a normal wash/dry cycle and the dishes are not dry, they come out saturated. The machine is not dry and requires cleaning after every cycle. The soap spills out of the door and somehow ends up on the outside of the front door. This is the worst dishwasher I have ever used and if I am unable to return it, I will feel criminal giving it away for free. I recommend not trying your luck and going with a different brand. This cost over $800. Awful.

Unfortunately we did not read reviews before purchasing our LG Model 5040ST Dishwasher in June 2013 through a local Home Depot. We were replacing a dishwasher that had run well for several years but which finally sprang enough leaks that it could not be patched and we also hoped to improve the water usage/efficiency with a newer appliance. We liked the efficiency ratings, noise ratings, and features for the LG and got a great deal on one normally priced at nearly $700 for a mere $498. The plastic components discolored very quickly and became gray and somewhat brittle. However, it continued to clean, although it slowly became progressively more noisy. Two months ago we got the dreaded message that the motor was seized.
Calling LG, I spoke with "Bryan" who I finally had to ask to stop eating while talking with me so we could get through the call a bit quicker. I explained at the beginning of the call that the motor had seized according to the diagnostics. At the end of his script of questions, he asked me what the problem was. Ultimately he told me it wasn't in warranty and I had to tell him that the parts were still under warranty. He agreed, but then told me it would likely cost $75 for a visit and around $200 in labor so he wasn't sure it was worth repairing.
When I told him I would like to get the contacts of the approved repair folks, he gave me two numbers. He then asked me if he could have my email address so they could send me promotional materials about other LG products. I told him that a dishwasher whose motor seized after less than 18 months of use was not a great advertisement for the brand so no, he could not have my email address to promote other products. We have had four dishwashers in 40 years. Each has lasted 8-9 years minimum - and one we simply left behind in a move and it continued to be used by the people we left it with for several more years.
The dishwasher is very attractive and still looks brand new. After my husband and I talked through what it would cost to get this repaired - with the same type of motor that seized after just 18 months, and with the clear lack of care or pride of ownership by LG representatives, we decided there was little point and we are putting it out on the curb. Instead, we went back online to renew our subscription to companies that we trust that rate appliances and next time we will do more research first. I have no illusions that LG cares one bit about their products or they would have better trained personnel on their call centers and they would have a product that meets minimum expectations for a common household appliance. My only reason for submitting this review is to hopefully help someone else make a more informed decision. I'm just so sorry I didn't come here first.

This design of this dishwasher is a nightmare. I've actually read the manual on how to load this dishwasher thinking maybe I was doing something wrong. There is nowhere in the dishwasher where plates stand up. The tines are awkwardly placed, and continually fall down, so maybe a few bowls can go in, but they land flat on their back, pointing up when tines collapse (not exactly conducive to cleaning). It's as though the bottom rack is made to handle a couple of large pots and maybe two or three bowls. The top rack is also strangely designed and again has very little capacity to handle many dishes or glasses. When the bottom rack has dishes in it and I open it, the weight on the door causes the whole machine to start falling out of the wall. I've probably owned ten dishwashers and can honestly state that I can't even rate this as working. I'm literally having it replaced and throwing it away if I can't get Home Depot to take it back... It's less than a month old but I just cannot stand it. I'll pay twice for installation but it will be worth it because otherwise I'll be washing everything by hand. So we are using the power scrub cycle since we use it everyday sometimes twice a day. The problem we are dealing with now is that we have to fill it during the cycle because it just does not fill with enough water. You will know when it sounds like it is grinding up debris inside.
After filling it runs quietly. If we don't fill it the dishes come out dirty. The weird thing is it will not show the "error E1" at all. It will continue to run till the end. We bought this dishwasher on sale and thought we were getting a very good deal. Now we know why we only paid $400.00 for this. The only solution that they gave me was to go to a hardware store and get an item that you put into the dishwasher and it's supposed to clean it. Needless to say I still can't use my dishwasher. When I bought all my appliances stainless steel this was supposed to be the best. I live on Social Security and it's going to be hard for me to go out and buy a new one. It will not be an LG. I was literally washed the dishes before I would use the dishwasher. Now when I wash my dishes by hand at least I know they're clean. I am very upset with this product. I have never complained to consumers but in this case I have to. Beware and if you do decide to get an LG make sure you have a very long extended warranty.

This dishwasher cleans great. The problem is that every couple of months I get an OE error which indicates that there is a clog or blockage. Our filters are always spotless yet this continues. The way I fix it is to disconnect the drain hose at the sink and use a shop-vac to suck all the water out of the dishwasher. This thing is way too sensitive and after reading all the reviews I realize I made a mistake by buying it.

I bought this LG dishwasher 1 year ago and this is the WORST, WORST machine ever I have and so has my husband called the company. We were told to change soaps to Cascade liquid. We have tried pods, powders and other brands. My dishes still come out dirty, Glasses with grime and I use Jetdry also. WE have changed the dial to the highest number, tried everything we were asked to do. Why would someone spend the money on a dishwasher to have to WASH the dishes BEFORE you put them in the dishwasher? There is always soap residue in the machine after each use. I was willing to agree on LG sending out a repair specialist of LG to look and/or repair but now I just want it removed from my home. I will NEVER EVER buy a LG appliance again. I will stand by the other brand.

LG LDF6920ST Dishwasher - I bought this dishwasher in the spring of 2011 and in August 2014 the dishwasher will need to be replaced. This dishwasher was not abused and is in a 2 person household. Initially I smelled an awful smell of burnt electrical coming from the dishwasher and now it won't stay on. I'm afraid it will catch the house on fire. An LG registered service person cost $89.00 for the service call and $150.00 per hour not including parts. I read online about other owners of this model dishwasher having to repeatedly change the motor and the water pump. I am going to replace this dishwasher after only 3 years use. Service men tried to tell us that it was just new, then to use vinegar and open the door when finishing a load. It still smells and we are so sorry we bought the three LG products. Fridge, washer and dishwasher. On the cup I rubbed my thumb and you can see how easy the stain comes off. The bowl needed a little more effort, but it can't clean fresh chocolate pudding from a dish. The washer has a gap where it makes the cloths move that is too big and coins get caught and rips the cloths.

Called LG. Was told I was using wrong detergent and needed to add a booster. That made no difference in the cleaning. After 4 service calls, replacing the sump motor and the main board, it still does not clean the dishes. LG corporate customer service says that it works and that the problem is that I have hard water (never mind that my 13-yr-old Maytag cleaned my dishes). I bought an LG dishwasher 3 years ago. Read reviews I could find at the time. They weren't the top of the line but they were reviewed better than middle of the road. I wanted it to be quiet and clean my dishes well. That lasted about 6 months, called them and they told me that all dishwashers make noise. I asked them why the dishes weren't drying completely, they told me "the inside of a dishwasher is always going to leave some moisture on the dishes." Really, that was their answer. Quit draining this week, well that's not true. It drained all over my kitchen floor.
Finally found a repairman to work on it. Guess what, repairmen hate LG dishwashers too, if they will even work on them. Repairman told me if you can afford to buy another dishwasher to do it, they always break. Since I don't have a money tree in my backyard, I had to have it fixed, but you can bet I will never buy another LG dishwasher.

We purchased an LG LDF7551ST dishwasher in June 2012 for $800. While under warranty, in June 2013, it stopped working (Error message E1) and needed service and parts replaced. In September 2013, the same issue occurred and the dishwasher needed to be serviced and similar parts replaced. This happened a third time this past Tuesday, July 15. This is obviously defective merchandise and LG refuses to replace the machine. They say that they are doing me a favor by extending the warranty on the parts being replaced. Some for the second and possibly now the third time.
I have, to date, needed to take time off from work five times: once each for the appliance company to come to evaluate the problem and once for them to replace the parts. In addition, I have been on the phone with LG for numerous hours both on hold and trying to get some kind of resolution to this matter. The managers I spoke with both said they are at the highest level of decision making and refused to replace this machine. They told me I could write a letter to LG but it would come to them and nothing more would be done and I would not even get a response. I purchased a defective machine which should be replaced. I do not have the time nor patience to have to deal with this issue every few months.

Have had the E1 error code on it, appliance repair came out, ran through their diagnostics and came up with nothing. Week later same thing.
Have now been on many forums looking at other peoples same complaints. Worse thing is with that error code there is no shutting it off. Mine is hard wired and need electrician to come in to disconnect it. Spending more on repair people and electricians than the piece of junk is worth. I have an LG dishwasher, stove, refrig and microwave in my kitchen. The stove, I love... The frig, I like. The microwave really works well. The only thing I would like to have that it don't is a quick min button. My other unit that was the button that we used 9 times out of 10. The dishwasher on the other hand, I have hate for. First of all, it never gets my dishes clean. It takes 2 hours to run and it doesn't get any of the dishes clean in that time. (JUST AN FYI... THE ENERGY SAVERS IS NOT ENERGY SAVING FOR THE CONSUMER... MIGHT WANNA DO A LITTLE RESEARCH ON THAT ONE) BUT ANYWAY...
The LG dishwasher don't even rinse the dish soap off its own door. It is by far the worst dishwasher that I have ever had and I really don't have time to do dishes, that's why I have a dishwasher. My LG dishwasher has a lovely chime and that's all it's good for. I have stuck a slice of cardboard in there with my dishes to see if it would even get wet... It had a few spots on it and it was a little damp from the high humidity during the disinfecting cycle (that by the way is so hot that I have had a couple of ceramic cups crack in half from the extreme heat). Second... be careful if you have one of these LG dishwashers because I opened it and let the door fall to its resting place so I could load it and the handle landed on the top of my foot and I had a large hematoma that turned black and blue covering the entire top of my foot for weeks from having it land on my foot. I thought it was broke to be honest.
The thing is I'm grown and life is hard enough to deal with manufacturers taking advantage of consumers by selling them products that don't work at all. Surely they did test on these and knew that they were unable to clean dishes. The thing is I use to love LG. I've had several of their flat screens and of course I did my entire kitchen in LG... But for them to know that they made a shoddy product and not do right by the people that supported them by replacing the metal chimney boxes they sold us instead of dishwashers makes me sad... I've spent months of my hard earned income on their products and to be swindled like this by them makes me so sad that even though I love their other products, I won't be supporting their company brand any longer. It's a warning... If you want clean dishes, do your kitchen with another brand!

I have to pre-wash everything I put into it and wipe off the soap afterward even though I use Jet-Dry. My dishes are barely warm when the 2-hour power scrub cycle is finished. I called LG support and after several questions, I realized that the customer service rep was going through a checklist in order to troubleshoot the root cause of the problem.
She asked if I had cleaned the unit by the manual instructions to make sure there was no food debris clogging (YES). She asked if I used the proper detergent and if my washer actually had power to it (Yes and yes). She asked if I used the power scrub feature. She wanted to know if my dishwasher was connected to my garbage disposal? She said I had to check the line to make sure it was clear, but she told me that there was no way for me to do that other than looking at the line - REALLY? She told me that I obviously needed a technician to come out for the price of $85.00 to diagnose and probably more than $250.00 for parts and labor. She also told me that I could not talk to a technician or anyone else other than her over the phone.

Even when we put it on extra dry, it still did not dry the dishes. With the performance still terrible, 4 weeks ago, the dishwasher quit working completely.
When I contacted the LG online chat service feature, it was a joke. I spent more time verifying that I had bought a dishwasher than anything else. He finally determined that my dishwasher was "Shot" and he ordered a technician to come out. 10 tens later, a technician from a local repair facility came out, and he verified my dishwasher was not working??? He brought no replacement parts, but verified the unit had crapped out.
Two weeks later, he returned with a main board and got the dishwasher running. He tested a few cycles and declared it ready to go. I was out of town and my wife was leaving that afternoon, so she loaded up the dishwasher and started it before she left. When I got home three days later and opened the dishwasher, the dishes were still wet????? This is the first dishwasher that I have owned that drying dishes as part of the cycle is part of the dishwasher!
I have gone on LG's website and written to them and have not heard back! For what they charge for their products, I would expect a better support/service system in place. We replaced a 15-year-old Kenmore dishwasher with an LG 5811 dishwasher. We installed the Sears machine in my friend's home. After 2 years, the dishwasher stopped working and I had to repair a broken wire in the LG door. A year later, I had to fix another broken wire. When I spoke to LG, they were not aware of wires breaking and suggested I replace the motor assembly. I found a solution on the internet. The LG machine was quiet but never cleaned dishes as well as the rather-loud Sears.
Dishes were always soaking wet after an LG wash and took hours to dry after the door was opened. We are doing as much hand-drying as we do after hand-washing dishes. Wheels on the rack failed after two years, and 1/3 of the replacements broke when pressing onto the rack. It appears to be very brittle for application. The track for the lower rack is 1/8" lower in the dishwasher than on the door. Dishes go every which way, and when the rack goes, bumps are going between tracks. The lower dish rack jams on the door seal. There's also inadequate clearance between the door seal and the rack. After 6 years of uninterrupted and good service, my friend replaced the Sears machine.
Our LG refrigerator has worked well, although the default fridge temperature setting after a power failure freezes food. Parts fall off the drawers and have to be re-installed. Humidity settings stick up a bit above the drawer, and settings are changed when something is pulled from the shelf. I would never recommend LG.

When we built our house in 2006, I specifically requested LG appliances. This was a huge mistake. Within 2 1/2 years, the dishwasher quit working. I went to LG's site and found a repairman. He proceeded to tell me that the motor had burned out and it would be over $300 to repair. LG said that since it was a 2-year warranty, they could not help me. Last year, the temperature control on my range went out. The temp would be set for 350 and within a few minutes, the entire kitchen was filled with smoke because it had scorched everything in the oven.
Needless to say, I didn't even bother with a repairman. I simply replaced the stove. At about the same time, the icemaker in the French door refrigerator quit working. After googling troubleshooting recommendations, it would appear that this is defective as well. It would be over $200 to repair but I believe it was mentioned that it would fail again soon so there wasn't any point in replacing it. That leaves the over the range microwave. So far, it is the only thing that hasn't screwed up. I will never purchase nor recommend purchasing another LG appliance.

We purchased all new LG appliances for our new summer home. In our third year of use, our dishwasher began to error out with a 1E code and would shut down. We were able to restart it and it would complete its cycle. That worked for a short time and then it started to error out all of the time. We contacted LG and they told us to contact a repair service. We purchased a new part and that did not work, so LG sent us a new control panel. That did not work. We have taken the machine out and put back in, made sure it was level and it still did not work. We now have an immaculate dishwasher that does not work. Now within the last year, our numbers on our stove clock have been burning out one by one. LG does not stand by their products and had an "oh well" attitude. We will never purchase another LG product.

We have a four-year-old LG Dishwasher (LDF6920ST) that caught fire at 2 am in the morning a few weeks ago. Thankfully, our oldest son was awake and heard a loud popping noise that caused him to investigate and we were able to turn the unit off before it burned down our kitchen. The repairman who looked at the unit found that the main circuit board in the door caught fire. It is important to note that the motor has burned in the unit as well. A member of the LG "executive" team that works on these problems told me that fires happen in all sorts of LG appliances and that they repair the unit! We are completely afraid of this product, based on the many other examples of fires we have read about and we want a refund. Don't buy LG.

I purchased a $1,200, top of the line LG, in September of 2009. November of 2011 the machine came up with an error code of 1E, which the manual states a water inlet valve. So the part was replaced. Guess what? That wasn't the issue, so I contacted LG, and they had me go over some troubleshooting over the phone with no luck. So they gave me appliance repair centers that only deal with LG. To make a long story short, after having 2 parts swapped out - one was for $91.00, the inlet valve was $54.00 and another $91.00 yet to be paid to the appliance repair guy. Oh and I forgot about the computer board (which only has a 5 year warranty) was replaced - I have a $1,200.00 dishwasher that does not work!
LG called me to say that they will prorate it by giving me $676.00. After all that was put into it, that comes to $440.00 and I have to send mine back. Hmm. I told LG that this is unacceptable. Her answer, "Well sir, it's a man made product," so I laughed in which I replied, "So if I purchase anything from LG and it craps out after 3 years, I am supposed to just accept that "Oh well! It's man made?" My fellow consumers out there, beware. Life is not good with LG.

I bought my top-end LG dishwasher in late 2008 for almost $900, as the store didn't carry Bosch at the time. I am a builder and I supply my homes with appliances prior to selling them and I thought perhaps I would give LG a chance on my own home first for which I am very sorry as I bought a whole kitchen's worth of LG appliances, all of which are either failing, performing very poorly or having really bad design/functionality. The steam-enabled, "power drive" dishwasher is by far the worse (won’t clean for anything!) and after numerous attempts at getting LG to repair/replace/improve, I have just given up on them altogether and finally replaced it with a Bosch (less money than the LG and works great).
The refrigerator has been a laughing stock for visitors as the water dispenser is reversed from what 99.9% of people would expect and thus they get themselves sprayed while trying to fill a glass of water - we finally had to make a sign on how to use the water dispenser! In all seriousness though, we spent good money on this stuff and while it looks good and seems to have the features, the quality, functionality and performance are just terrible - stay clear of LG!

I suppose I'm the lucky one out of all the posters in this forum, because I got almost 4 years out of the dishwasher. I purchased the washer at Home Depot in March 2008 and it stopped working completely on Feb. 1, 2013. At first the washer would power up by itself, but not run a wash cycle. Door got very warm as well. I had to unplug it prior to leaving the house because I was afraid it would catch fire and burn down the house! Then after a week, I tried a wash cycle and no go. I went to Lowe's after researching dishwashers online and narrowed it to Bosch and Maytag. I chose the Bosch - solid and quiet. Love it! Problem is I have an entire kitchen of LG appliances.
Question is, which one will give out next? Not crazy about the refrigerator. Cheap workmanship. Never again will I purchase a Korean made appliance or cell phone. Don't get me started on their cheap, tinny automobiles. LG has lost my confidence and my business forever! I'll gladly pay a little more for a quality product.

Home Depot could do nothing. LG corporate in Huntsville, AL would not even give a discount on the new motor which cost (back in 2008) around $275 plus labor. It still doesn't clean properly and I've done all the maintenance they recommend. We even have a water softener system so it isn't the water. Follow my advice, since I know people with more expensive washers - get something like a Bosch or, if you really have the cash, a Miele. If you purchase an LG, you will regret it. Oh, and we also have an LG refrigerator, which also sucks. Although there are no real problems yet, it cools unevenly, and even when the unit is set at 36, some zones read 42-44 degrees (I have a digital chef's thermometer), which is in the danger zone for food (40/140 rule).

I purchased an LG Dishwasher model number LDF7811WW for $610.00. From day 1, the thing never really cleaned our dishes (we also rinse them before putting them in the dishwasher too). This is our timeline with this lovely dishwasher: purchased it on 4-27-08. It wasn’t cleaning dishes, so on 3-26-09, I called there repair number. A guy came out and adjusted the cam for the upper and lower spray arms. It was still not cleaning dishes. I called the repair number again on 5-18-09. A serviceman came out again, had to replace the motor.
On 3-22-10, it was having problems again not cleaning dishes. I called their repair number and a guy came out. He had to replace the sump assembly (which he said was the guts of the dishwasher). On 7-25-11, I had to call yet again. The dishwasher was not cleaning dishes. I called their number, he again had to replace the sump assembly (the guts of the dishwasher) and now it is 11 -2-12, I’m having trouble again. So within 4 years, I have had the major components of the dishwasher replaced 3 times and I’m sure it’s going to be the fourth when the guy comes again later this week. I called customer service for LG and they pass the buck and say it is up to my extended warranty people, which thank God we purchased (because we usually don’t). They say that the part has to go bad 3 times within a year to be considered for the lemon law. Well, if you ask me this is a lemon.
I should have kept my 20-year-old Whirlpool dishwasher which I never had a problem with but just was updating the kitchen so we replaced it. Big mistake! In my opinion, this is not standing behind their product. I’m sure, to them people $610.00 is nothing, but in this household, it is very hard to come by and I want to get what I paid for. I could have bought lemons much cheaper at the grocery store. Buyers beware.

I must admit that the dishwasher is extremely quiet; however, it has yet to clean our dishes since the first time we have used it. The dishes/glasses on the top rack always come out dirty, and often, I will have to put them back into the dishwasher for a second or third time. There have also been a few times where the dishes were still wet and I had to dry them by hand. The most frustrating part is that the last few times we have used the dishwasher, we have opened the door just to discover the package of detergent stuck to the inside part of the door unopened (we use Cascade and have never had issues before). As a result, the dishes were only washed in water since no detergent was released out of the package which was still intact. Clearly, this dishwasher is too weak, as we've only had it for a month and age cannot be to blame.

Don't buy LG! I have an LG washer (2 years old). Within 3 months, the washer had mold on the inside of the soap dispensing tray. The tray doesn't come out so we can't properly clean it. It also has an offensive, musty odor all the time, so I'm sure there is mold buildup inside. They tell us to run vinegar cycles and we have to wipe off the seals or they won't seal right and the inside of the door after each use as instructed in the manual. It still doesn't prevent it! We also have to drain the trap on an ongoing basis.
My children are less maintenance than this washer! It also vibrates the house when the spin cycle is running. It is very, very noisy! In fact, the delivery men asked if we had a structurally secure floor (first floor laundry) when they delivered it due to the vibrations. It sounds like a jet plane taking off and rattles the plates in my kitchen cupboard, just from the floor vibration!
The dryer drum broke within a month of having the dryer! Luckily, it was under warranty. The maintenance person, sent out through H.H.Gregg, really told us more things to do to again keep the dryer from breaking. We have to wipe the heat sensors off after each of the loads to prevent film buildup or the heat/drying sensors won't work right. I've found that you also can't put a full load in the dryer because of severe wrinkling! The purpose of buying it for one, was the size it could hold. Of course, H.H. Gregg told us none of the intense maintenance involved!
I was looking recently to replace my fridge and asked an appliance repairman to make suggestions. His first one was, "Don't buy LG!" He said that they are too costly to repair and when he has tried to order parts, it's over a month to get a part delivered to him. He says there is so much trouble getting hold of LG to even order parts, that he has quit repairing anything LG altogether!! And he said that he is not the only repairman to refuse to service LG! So, I hope this saves someone else the hassle and the cost of their washer and dryer that is going to deteriorate the minute it is brought through the door! I'm terribly unhappy with it! Now the next new replacement LG washer is supposed to be delivered to me on March 26. Hopefully this one will not be damaged.
I called Home depot and LG regarding when the warranty will start and LG's policy is that, the warranty starts on purchase date and not delivery date! They say it is bad luck but that is their policy.
So, if you buy an LG appliance and it takes a month or even two before you take possession of it, even if it because they are out of stock, your warranty is based on the purchase date and not the delivery date. Therefore, you lose out even if they are at fault. GE, Bosch, Maytag, Whirlpool honor delivery date!
Be aware of LG's warranty start and end date! LG is known to tell you that when your LG product runs out of warranty on day 15, and your appliance breaks down on day 16, you are in for a nice expensive bill, and with my luck this will happen. Therefore warranty for the full period, after delivery, is important! Consider the above before you buy an LG appliance. You might be in for a surprise at the end of the warranty period!

I called LG and they scheduled their technician to come out the first week of July 2010 to repair my dishwasher. The technician spent about an hour working on my dishwasher and told me the motor was bad and he replaced the entire mechanism on the spot.
In the course of making the repair, he pulled the dishwasher out of the under-counter space to work on it. In our kitchen, we have two "spacers" that fill the gaps between the cabinets and the dishwasher to make a seamless look. One of the spacers came out while he was removing the dishwasher from under the counter. He made the repairs to the dishwasher, reinstalled it under the counter and then proceeded to try and put the spacer back in between the cabinet and the dishwasher. Instead of carefully determining how to reinstall that piece, he tried multiple times to attach screws to the interior of the cabinet to that spacer.
The result is six or seven holes in my cabinet now from his missed attempts at connecting with the spacer piece. If the damage to the interior of my cabinet wasn't bad enough, the worst part was that although the dishes come out clean from the dishwasher, the dishwasher is leaking water from the bottom of the unit. I run my dishwasher at night, and only about every other night or so, so I hadn't seen any of the water leaking out while the washer was running. Instead I would wake in the morning to a spot or two on the floor of water and thought it was my sons being sloppy in the kitchen.
Last Wednesday, July 14th, my husband and I were shocked to notice our hardwood floors appeared to be warping under and around the dishwasher. I ran the dishwasher in the late afternoon for the first time since the repair. I was astonished to see the amount of water that was coming out of the dishwasher during its two-hour long wash cycle. I called LG first thing Thursday, July 15th in the morning. I spoke to a customer service representative who took all my information and my statement about the problem with my dishwasher needing to be repaired again and my complaint about my hardwood floors now being warped and the cabinet being damaged in the process. She told me that I would be hearing from a supervisor probably that same day since I had called early in the morning.
I never heard from any supervisor on Thursday, and none called me on Friday either. I went out of town for the weekend and returned Monday morning to wait and see what would happen. Again, no call in the morning, so I called LG again to get an update. The man I spoke to didn't have any information about my phone call the prior Thursday and after sitting on hold for almost 30 minutes while he accomplished nothing more than telling me I would need to send in a proof of purchase before they could proceed, I demanded to speak to a supervisor. That call took another 40 minutes and was extremely frustrating. The result of that phone call was that LG said they had now opened a liability claim for me for the damaged hardwood floors and cabinet as well as the needed repair for my dishwasher.
The supervisor further told me that in order to get a repairman to come out to my home to fix the leaking dishwasher, I would need to provide them with a proof of my purchase. This is not impossible, just a further inconvenience. I told her clearly and repeatedly that I gave my proof of purchase to the repairman because he said he needed it for the warranty work. My mistake in doing so because I should have retained my original and not given it to him, but it seemed like a reasonable request at the time.
I still can't understand why they would need a copy of the proof of purchase when they never asked for it the first two times they sent repairmen to my home. Only now that they've damaged my home and left me with a damaged and malfunctioning unit do they want my receipt--doesn't make sense. The supervisor also told me that they had to have their repairman come back to the house to take pictures of the damage. She repeatedly told me that he wouldn't be servicing or making any further repairs to the dishwasher, only taking pictures of the damaged floors and cabinet.
The repairman that they had to send would be the same man who damaged my home. I told her I was uncomfortable with this plan because it would be very awkward for me to have him in my home after I've now filed a complaint against him and his workmanship. She told me that if I wanted to pursue this claim then I had no choice because he is their only certified repairman in the area.
She put me on hold for some time and then came back and said that "William", the repairman, would be available either morning or afternoon the following day, Tuesday, July 20th to take the pictures and asked me which would be better for me. I agreed to the afternoon time and asked what specific time that day. She said all she knew was in the afternoon and he would call me within 15 minutes of arrival. I took the afternoon off work and spent all afternoon at my home waiting for this repairman to show up yesterday and he never did.
I called LG back first thing this morning, Wednesday, July 21st, because I was furious with their lack of customer service or follow-through. I asked the customer service representative to transfer me to a supervisor, which required me to sit on hold for 36 minutes until "Neil" from Executive Services came on the phone. He told me that the notes in the file he was reading said I refused to allow this repairman into my home and the appointment for the pictures was cancelled. This was not at all the result of the conversation I had on Monday with the supervisor. I did express very openly my concern and discomfort with this arrangement, but after being told I had "no choice" if I wanted this claim to be handled, I agreed and confirmed the afternoon appointment time.
I spoke at length with Neil about other options because I cannot continue to take off time from work to accommodate LG repairmen after they have damaged my home. I need a working dishwasher and I most importantly need to have some resolution to the damage to my hardwood floors and cabinet from the repairman they sent to my home. I shouldn't be continually inconvenienced by them. Neil offered to have the repairman come tomorrow to take the pictures and of course it would be a four-hour time window for that to happen. I said no and asked if I can't just take the pictures and send them in.
He gave me an email address to submit pictures but couldn't guarantee if that would be sufficient and if LG would still require the repairman to come out and take "certified" pictures for their file. I said I would take the pictures and submit them today. Neil further said I had to have a proof of purchase in order to get a repairman other than William to repair the broken dishwasher. I told him fine, then send William back out here so I don't have to jump through hoops to get a copy of the proof of purchase receipt from Home Depot archives. He told me the earliest William could be out would be Friday from 1-5 p.m. Again, another huge time frame which I cannot accommodate with my work schedule. I told him if he could shrink it to a two-hour time frame then I could make it work and Neil said that was impossible and therefore they couldn't help me with this repair because I was unreasonable.
So, as of right now, I'm taking pictures and submitting them to LG today of the damage to the hardwood floors and the cabinet. I do not have a copy of my receipt so I'm calling Home Depot archives to get a copy today and will send that as well. I don't have a scheduled repair date for the broken dishwasher and no date in sight because all they can offer me this week is Friday from 1-5 p.m., and please realize this will be with the same exact repair person who damaged my home! Just feels like I'm getting nowhere and they don't realize how serious the damage is and aren't taking any responsibility for their part in the damage.
At this point I'm more than frustrated. I have a broken, leaking dishwasher which I cannot use and am now forced to handwash my dishes instead. As of right now there are no plans by LG to fix my dishwasher without completely inconveniencing me further and requiring me to use the same exact repairman who damaged my home and broke the dishwasher to begin with. My hardwood floors are warped and buckling and there is water seeping from the joints. The cabinet adjacent to the dishwasher not only has numerous holes in it that weren't there when he arrived; what's more concerning is the damp, mildew smell coming from inside that cabinet like water has ponded underneath it from the leak.
Finally, LG is not offering me any customer service for something they caused to happen by their certified repairman and they're not standing behind their work or their worker. I am not interested in being compensated for my missed work yesterday, or in the future when I have to meet someone to actually get the dishwasher repaired and my home's damage dealt with, so long as it's a reasonable amount of time and not four-five hour time window that is not fulfilled. The dishwasher cost us almost $800 and is useless to us at this time. The flooring and cabinetry is the most costly damage that has resulted from this whole incident. The floors are solid hardwood and are older and not able to be matched to simply cut out the damage and replace with a patched hardwood section.
Instead, I will have to rip out the entire kitchen and replace with new flooring which I would estimate would cost a few thousand dollars to have installed. The cabinet is also troublesome because regardless of whether or not I agree to live with a cabinet riddled with holes in it, the fact remains that there is a mildew smell emanating from it and the cabinet will need to be removed to make sure there's no water under it that could grow mold.
I have Corian countertops, and you cannot take out cabinets without removing the countertop, and you cannot remove Corian without damaging the whole, large U-shaped piece. I haven't got an idea on the actual damage amount because this could be well over $5k just simply to remove the cabinet to make sure there's no water, replace the damaged cabinet assuming no others have to be replaced, and replace the countertop which probably will have to be a new one so it's not "jerry-rigged" back together and looking sloppy.

We purchased all LG appliances four years ago when we remodeled our kitchen. This included electric stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and over range microwave. The microwave is the only appliance that we have not had an issue with. The dishwasher is absolutely the worst appliance we have ever owned.
Even when everything was working properly, it did a poor job of cleaning dishes. We even tried different detergents and in four years, the fill valve has leaked and had to be replaced. The valve that directs water to the upper and lower sprayers failed and had to be replaced, the pump failed due to wires inside the door that were chaffed and cut through, the main circuit board blew up and had to be replaced. Just yesterday, the main circuit board blew up again. Needless to say, we're not fixing it. We are buying another dishwasher and it won't be an LG!
The refrigerator ice maker failed and had to be replaced. The water dispenser reservoir leaked and had to be replaced. The plastic drawer covers for vegetable storage are cheap and break easily.
The stove is self-cleaning but the first time we used the self-cleaning feature, the top front portion of the controls section was scorched and discolored because the vent for the stove is located directly below it. The first time a cookie sheet was put into the bottom warmer drawer sparks shot out and the warmer element failed. It's not a good design.
Last week, one of the key pad buttons failed for a burner element so now that the burner will only work on high, you cannot adjust it down. These appliances are all matching stainless steel. We paid a lot of money (thousands of dollars) for appliances that look good sitting in your kitchen but are not reliable.

We purchased an LG Dishwasher in July 2005. Recently, it smelled like melting plastic when it ran. I thought something had gotten into the bottom and was melting, but when we looked we could not see the source. After a couple of loads with the smell, the next load seemed OK but then when I tried to turn on my dishwasher it would not power-up. Though I would hear the dinging once in awhile. My husband is very mechanical and took the door off and to our surprise, the wires and the circuit board were completely fried.
Everything was melted. We called LG to notify them of the problem since this seemed more than something that would be under a normal warranty. I also thought they should be aware and we hoped they would help us fix it. They informed us it was no longer under warranty and that it would be at least $300.00 to fix, at our cost. The man on the line said since 300.00 is a lot of money for a repair, maybe you should just get a new LG instead and you have had it for 5 years which is a long time.
Our last dishwasher lasted 10 years before we gave it to someone and I bet it is still going. My parents have a dishwasher that they got almost 20 years ago. I think we were lucky because that could have easily caused a fire in our home at night when we tend to run the dishwasher. The rep did not seem to care, they only wanted to know if we wanted to pay to have it fixed or not. I looked online and it looked like others have had similar issues which makes me very upset. If this is a bigger issue than it seems ,people should be notified. It seems like if I could find other cases of this happening on the internet then there might be a bigger problem. We had to go out and buy a new dishwasher (not an LG). We went with KitchenAid. It seems that they should have fixed it for us, or given an equivalent cost. I was planning on having my dishwasher at least 10 years maybe 20 not less than 5.

I bought a LG dishwasher model #LDF6920ST in June 2008 from Best Buy. Now after the wash cycle, it smells of a burning plastic smell that emanates from the inside door area. I was reading where others have complained about this problem about LG dishwashers, and I think something should be done to force LG to recall this appliance. I was told by LG that I will have pay a service tech to come out here to look at this problem, something I think I should not have to, seeing this dishwasher is used only about once a week for the last 2 years. If there is a known defect that is causing the wires in the door to burn, as I have read online, something needs to be done to recall this appliance before someone is seriously hurt.

On Friday, May 11th at 5:30 pm, I returned home to find a water leak from my newly Installed LG dishwasher. The leak was continuous and very large. The water leaked into my basement into two different unfinished rooms. There was damage to the insulation in those rooms. I called a water restoration service to clean up and stop any further water damage to the house. This incurred a $1300 bill from them. I immediately shut the water off to the dishwasher and called Best Buy where I filed a claim. I then had the representative from the installer come out and look at the leak. He informed me that the leak was coming from the seal behind the connection and that it was a part malfunction on the dishwasher.
I then had a technician from Best Buy (Geek Squad) investigate the malfunction and he also stated that the leak was coming from a seal behind the dishwasher and it was a part malfunction. He then ordered a new part and it was installed at a later date. I have had no leaks since. I have a $1300 water restoration bill that includes replacement of my insulation that was damaged. I am seeking recovery from LG for the damages. I have called Mr. ** several times and he will not return my calls

I bought a new LG dish washer. The pump stopped working after 2 weeks of use. I called LG. They sent out a service company. They took apart the dish washer and left with no dishwasher for three weeks. Now the dish washer is loud and has oil stains on the inside of the tub. LG says they will not refund or exchange. They want their service company to fix again.
I don’t understand how these big companies get away without sourcing our jobs, ripping off the consumers and tell me I will not get my money back no matter what. I don’t want a product from a company like that in my house at all.

Do not buy any major appliances at Home Depot or purchase their extended service contracts! In my case, an LG dishwasher that I originally purchased broke down within 9 months of purchase. However, since it was still covered by the manufacturer's warranty, LG sent technical people out three times before determining the unit to be a lemon and 'unrepairable.‘ Although it was a nightmare of months spent making and following up on appointments, sending paperwork, and being treated like I had no rights, eventually LG did replace the machine.
Now 3 years later, the 'new' machine, same model LGLDF7810ST, has broken and appears similarly unrepairable. It displays the same error code (an upside down and backwards F next to an E that the earlier unrepairable machine did. Unfortunately, since I am now covered by the extended service contract warranty (Assurant/GE), I have had an even worse nightmare getting adequate resolution of this situation. My case is referred to as incident no. **. It was February when the machine broke. Since then I have had 7 appointments: 2 were inexplicably no-shows; one fellow (Ramon) a repair person was so lazy that he determined it to be a 2-man job, and would not move the unit until another man came, that fellow of course never showed up, which was only determined after the unwilling repairman (Ramon) sat in his truck in my driveway for an hour. The control panel, wire harness, sensor/thermostat, and entire door panel have all been replaced to no avail.
One technician whom I like (Doc) and with whom I helped to move the machine out from the wall (twice), has been here 3 times and he told me he deems it 'unrepairable' but can't put that on the paperwork to initiate a claim through Assurant because his technical supervisor thinks it's cheaper to order more parts, completely disregarding my inconvenience at waiting around (hours at a time) for weeks going on months of no-show appointments, rescheduled appointments, unwilling technicians, and general ridiculous stalling when I ask for a diagnosis.
There appears to be some kind of 'understanding' or strategy between Assurant and its repair service providers to wear down the customer, despite my having paid for the extended warranty protection, to the point where a customer gets so fed up trying to resolve a claim that I'm better off buying a new machine (not an LG or GE one, that's for sure) from a competitor if I have any hope of having an operable dishwasher in the near future. It’s a disgusting way to operate (and an obvious gold mine of profits for them) and hopefully someone out there with a law degree will take these people on in a class action suit, involving their highly unethical behavior. The complaints on this site regarding Assurant Health Care claims are unconscionable that they can continue to operate in this fashion.

I have purchased 2 LG products. The dishwasher leaked (after buying it I found hundreds of the exact same complaint on the internet). I called LG - their responses were pretty much, “Yah, we know...not yes. We'll handle it.” Now, the freezer leaks - what a surprise! Again, this is a plethora of complaints for the same issue - lots of angry consumers with no remedy from the company. My hardwood floors in my kitchen are ruined. There are black spots where the water repeatedly dripped. I finally got fed up and bought a Bosch dishwasher for another $1,000.00. The Bosch is awesome and I don't know why I didn't just go with it in the first place (I thought the LG was pretty - so stupid). Now I'm realizing that I need to bite the bullet and get a new fridge too. This is a lesson learned.

I purchased a LG dishwasher back in 2006. I had problems right from the start. After having it serviced 3 times in 1 year, LG finally replaced it. The new model also is poorly made. Water leaks all over and repairman is not able to locate. I called LG and they don't even care because the new one they replaced it with was no longer under warranty, there is nothing they can do. Understandable, except we paid well over $700.00 and we cannot even use a brand new dishwasher for 1 year.
Then, my sister purchased a LG and she had the extended warranty and her dishwasher is worse than mine (even leaves the dishes wet and 2 days later mold all over the dishes that are clean which had to be thrown away). She lost days’ wages to be home for the service techs and then not have them keep the scheduled appointment. LG still does not stand behind their products or their warranties. The dishwashers are the worst, but more important, they don't care about the consumer - the ones who keep them in business. I know I am not the only one fed up with LG and their dishwashers. Is there anything that can be done? Thank you for letting me vent.

I purchased an LG dishwasher from The Bay on December 26, 2008. I received it early January 2009. Installed mid to late January. I noticed on March 18, 2009 the dishwasher leaked all over kitchen floor. Dishwasher ran over night (delay cycle was used). I contacted The Bay for service March 18th. I did not receive service until mid to late April. I refused to have them repair the unit due to the delay and the fact the unit was a month old.
I requested a replacement unit. The Bay agreed to refund or replace the unit with a lower model and stated the model discontinued. They requested to send a tech to inspect and found no signs of poor installation. I received replacement unit late to early May. The Bay at this point referred me to LG Canada regarding damages to my kitchen. Late May early June, several calls were made to LG customer service call center with no resolution.
I was told that the matter is being looked into. I was asked to provide invoice for product and pictures of damages and estimates. I did so. Several more calls to LG for update and then I was referred to Michael ** and now to Sateen. Several calls to Sateen for update states the mater is still being reviewed by their legal department and that they will get back to me this is now February 4, 2010. It resulted to water damages to base boards, lower cabinet doors and gables. I endured several months with a disheveled kitchen while waiting for assistance from LG. I was forced into an unnecessary renovation. This has certainly been a trying time with repairs estimated at approximately $1300.00. They could not match the existing cabinet and therefore repairs are now at $5000 and not yet complete. Now, I’m experiencing problems with the current LG dishwasher again. What do I do next?

I made several attempts (calling HD and LG) to get the microwave repaired to no avail. It's now just a piece of junk above my range. I had to purchase a GE microwave for my countertop which is "taking up much needed space." And our 52" LG TV had to be replaced in 2 weeks after purchasing it from Best Buy in May 2006. We bought all new LG kitchen appliances in June 2007. About a month ago, we noticed that our "silent" dishwasher was no longer silent. Luckily, we had an extended warranty so we were able to get it serviced for free. Once the tech came, he said we needed a new motor. The part had to be ordered so we waited for that and then he came back to repair the unit. After he left, we noticed that the soap was no longer dispensing, so we had to call them back. Another tech came out and said need another new motor and a new soap dispenser. They came out for this repair and then the machine started dinging at random times and for no reason. They came again and said that there were still missing parts to be replaced but got it working again.
Less than 24 hours after the last tech visit, we ran the dishwasher and it eventually caught fire and started to fill my kitchen with smoke. Luckily, we were home when it happened and the electrical fire was contained within the door. We immediately turned off the circuit, the fire dept. came and it was all over. In the meantime, I've called LG Customer Service but to no avail. They simply reply with canned responses and take no responsibility for the poor quality products that they manufacture. At this point, we're dealing with Home Depot and the appliance repair company to try to get some reimbursement for the cost of the appliance and a house cleaning to get the terrible fire odor out.

This is a 5-year-old machine which may have a year's worth of use. The problem is the wiring harness is placed against the door where it rubs as the dishwasher runs. This rubbing causes the harness to break. LG is aware of the defect and have replaced a lot of the harness systems for customers. Because our dishwasher is out of warranty, they don't want to replace a part that was defective when sold. We have been told that this part can cause a fire in our home. I bought an LG dishwasher last January ’09. In February ’09, it was installed and by May ‘09 it was grinding. I thought maybe it was the garbage grinder and thought maybe it would settle in time. July, the dishwasher woke me from a dead sleep with the noise it was making. I decided it was time to do something about it. I phoned the store they told me to contact the repair place. They arrived in good time just a few days. They looked at the outside of the machine, opened the inside, removed the racks and said there was no blockage and then told me the machine needed a new motor it was going.
The same repairman looked at an LG fridge I have in my basement suite - it leaks water by the gallon. He told me it was a part that rusts out on these models and to fix it would be about $115. I agreed to have it fixed. The repairman told me he would be back in two weeks to fix both the dishwasher and fridge. Well 2 weeks goes to six weeks, I made multiple phone calls to the repair place and they do not return my voice mail and they do not answer my calls. Finally in October ’09, I go to the store and ask for their help. They call the repair place and he says he will be in to fix both my fridge and dishwasher within a week and the store asked them to call me and make an appointment.
One week turns into 2 weeks and I have to go back to school for my course for a week and did not want to deal with this while I am at school. Anyways, I go back to the school, they swear they have the part for both the fridge and the dishwasher and will call us to make an appointment. I am at school and my husband is at work and they call leave a message come put the part in the fridge because my tenant is home. I know nothing about any of it. I talk to my tenant she says the fridge is still leaking and he said he would be back when he figures out how to fix it (I really don't have time for him to get his certificate in small appliance repair).
I went to the store 7 days later and asked for them to help resolve this again. I phoned LG Canada and they told me that the dishwasher was fixed September 18, 2009. I know it was not and if it was fixed, why would I be at the store making a fuss. They told me they paid the repairman for the dishwasher in September. I never saw the man in September. The store manager called the repairman and he said he had to do his billing so he gets paid within 30 days, so he billed already but he has the part and he will come put it in, when he gets time.
I said that was not acceptable and refused to speak with the man from Nicola Valley Appliance repair. I was then asked to call LG Canada back. I went home this time and called. I spoke to a Mexican by the name of Juan Carlos. I told him my story and he said he would talk to management. About 30 minutes later while I was on hold the whole time, he comes back and says they have no complaints about Nicola Valley Appliance Repair and he does not know where this story is coming from and they will not entertain my lies any further.
I said, look you **, why the hell would I lie? It is broken, the appliance is not fixed, it has warranty for 5 years and it is only 10 months old. And why the hell would I lie, you should fix it whether he came once or not. So ask yourself, to what benefit would it be for me to lie? On the other hand, Nicola Valley Appliance Repair does have a financial reason to lie. He said he wanted me to hold on further and he would take this back to management. I said I will hold no longer to be called a liar and I am going to the store to talk to the manager and tell him to call you guys and tell you what he was told by ** at Nicola Valley Appliance Repair.
Juan Carlos was not happy. He yelled at me to hold on I said I will not and I left the house to the store. The manager of the store phones LG and speaks to someone about what I was told then goes to upper management. I have refused by this point to have anyone from Nicola Valley Appliance repair in my home because they are crooks and basically in my opinion, has committed fraud and LG Canada has backed him up. Anyways, all they finally offered me was for me to pull out my dishwasher, haul it an hour away to the next city and get someone there repair it. They said it would not happen quickly; it could take months or even a year. I said no way and every time it breaks after that, I would have to haul it out of the hole and take it to Kamloops, BC. I said no, that was not acceptable.
So ** from Nicola Valley Appliance Repair has a motor that is for my dishwasher and the money paid to him to put it in and I am having to purchase a new dishwasher. The fridge I called the other appliance repair shop to finish the job and they did manage to get into the fridge and clear the drain and we thought this was fixed but it did not fix it. The fridge continues to leak and to the best of our knowledge, the fridge has to be replaced, it is not repairable. My tenant went and bought a new fridge and I bought a new dishwasher.
The Fridge is 5 years old and the dishwasher is only 10 months old. It is free to any sucker that wants to deal with LG and their crap. I am full up with the ** they manufacture. I would like financial compensation. I had to purchase a new dishwasher that cost me $740.00 and had repair costs of $115.00 for the fridge. The tenant paid $699 for a new fridge which she said she would leave behind if I don't raise the rent and I will lose $28 a month for at least one year or more.

In August 2007, I purchased the above model of LG dishwasher, which had been highly recommended. The cost was $580.00 plus tax and $150.00 installation. I thought I had purchased an excellent product. After 2 years, it was smoking and apparent that something had overheated. After calling LG consumer service, I was given the name of their approved service dealer. For $75.00, I was informed that the motor was gone and the replacement cost would be $300.00. I was advised by LG's service rep to go out and buy something cheaper! He did suggest that this could have been caused by a power surge. I called my electrician to check out this possibility, another $75.00, no electrical problems.
Over the past 40 years I have owned 3 dishwashers, a 13+ years average with no problems. I have been shopping for an LG refrigerator and a cell phone. No more. The product confidence is gone. What do you do with a two year old, $800.00 dishwasher? Maybe paint it yellow, plant flowers around it and place it in the front yard! It is apparently useless.

On 4/25, I reported to LG customer service that my dishwasher (Model: LDS5811WW/01) was not drying dishes well even though I was maintaining the rinse agent level as instructed. I asked if they could direct me to a section of a repair manual or inform me where to begin looking for repair instructions. LG responded by saying that it is their policy to only release service manuals to licensed service technicians. Then, I started hand washing dishes since I would not use credit to repair a noncritical appliance.
In late October, I called Sears repair service who informed me that the control board had failed. It would cost $194 to replace it on top of the $129 service charge. I declined the part thinking that a $323 repair on a 2-year old dishwasher was not justified and that I could possibly replace the unit for under $400. I contacted LG again to ask assistance for the control board and they replied that the unit was not under warranty. With the $600 I spent on the unit, plus the $129 service charge, this has been a very expensive lesson. Please learn from my experience and do not buy any LG appliances. The product quality and customer service is terrible.

We purchased an LG dishwasher from Best Buy in August 2007. We run approximately 2 loads per week. In January 2009, the dishwasher quit working. We contacted LG in Feb 2009 and were told that they would supply the parts to repair, but we needed to pay for repairs. We are still waiting for the parts and have talked to customer service 5 to 7 times without satisfaction. They offer us a different excuse every time we call. We also tried to work with the authorized contract repair company that they insisted we would have to use and did not receive a response from them for more than 4 months. We have arranged for a trusted and knowledgeable repairman to work on the dishwasher pending the arrival of the parts.

We bought our LG Dishwasher LDS5811ST in Nov. 2007. The motor recently gave out and will cost hundreds of dollars to repair. The technician told us he'd seen the same problem over and over again and that we'd be better off buying a new dishwasher. I decided to do a web search for problems with this model dishwasher and there were many complaints on many different sites all complaining about the same problem, the motor. I cannot understand how this product is still being sold to consumers. One other notable problem we had was the rollers on the baskets breaking. We had trouble getting replacement rollers, but eventually got them, at a price of course. We cannot afford to buy a new dishwasher, nor pay the hundreds of dollars to fix it. It has affected our family in that we are spending hours more time cleaning dishes which cut into our work and family time. It creates stress.

We redid our kitchen and purchased all new appliances. LG Electronics, LG - Life is Good - no, it is not. We purchased a brand new dishwasher. It leaked. It took over a year to get it fixed - 3 service calls (one of which came, took the door off and left and never returned). Since we only had a year warranty, they then wouldn't fix it. After several calls, they finally replaced it but not the wood floor; it leaked all over the brand new wood floor that is now ruined. We also purchased a washer that had to be fixed. Then the dryer (now the dryer drum, this is only 2 years old) is not working and they will do nothing, also the microwave. The outside glass fell into the door. So every time you close it, you are afraid the glass will shatter. They will do nothing. The only reason we did not purchase the LG stove was they did not offer a gas stove at the time, thank goodness. $7,000 in appliances and I have emailed, called, and written (several times). I get nothing - no response at all from them, not even a postcard acknowledging my calls, letters, and emails; nothing, not a sorry we are such a lousy company. Does no one care anymore about customer service? Does no one stand behind their products anymore at all? Never purchase LG unless you want to go through all the hassles of extra repairs within the year, or buy a lifetime warranty!

I would like to strongly agree with the other posters that you should not purchase any LG appliances! In May of 2007, we purchased an LG dishwasher from Home Depot at a cost of just over $900. We did not purchase the extended warranty. Approximately the beginning of February this year, the washer began to fail. The dishes were not getting dry or clean and the washer began to smell horribly. I lived in denial for a couple of weeks considering the washer was still fairly new, but eventually we called a repairman who replaced the entire electronic pad and the motor. We spent $200 on these repairs. In fact, he had to replace the motor twice because the one that LG originally sent him was also bad. He told us that they are kept quite busy repairing LG dishwashers and have informed LG that their product is inferior but they don't seem to care.
Now this week (9/14/09 to be exact), the washer has developed a leak, a massive leak, and can no longer be used at all. From reading others' reviews, I believe that the seal around the door has probably disintegrated, which appears to be another common occurrence. We have chosen not to spend one more dime on this lemon and are planning to replace the dishwasher this week. This LG dishwasher replaced a 17-year-old builder's spec that right now I'd take back in a heartbeat, even though it was loud and unattractive. As others have stated, we have gotten nowhere with either LG or Home Depot and the fight is not worth the effort. With the pending purchase of a new dishwasher, the original purchase price and the $200 repair bill, we will be approximately $2000 into dishwasher fees in just more than 2 years. Unbelievable.

Consumers need to be aware of the quality of LG appliances. We went with all LG in 2006, believing that that was the best. One month ago, our 2 1/2 years old dishwasher quit. LG's choice of repairman came and found the wiring harness had melted to the inside of the door, and burned the motor out and said that was a common problem with that dishwasher, model #LDS5811WW. The 2-year warranty had expired, but there should have been a recall. We could smell the hot wires. Our house could have burned. Our efficient front loading washing machine, model #WM1814CW, will not remove blue bath soap stains from a white wash cloth on the heavy duty cycle with bleach. I must soak whites in a bucket first. The microwave model #LMV1630WW has growled for a year. I have had no response from LG and am not expecting any. We realized that we need to be looking for replacements for the remaining appliances.

Fourteen months following the purchase of our LG dishwasher, it began to make a high-pitch noise and the washing efficiency decreased. LG customer service was less than helpful directing us to local appliance repair services that they refused to come because we were too far from them and had gone out of business. I needed to make more than 10 calls to find someone who would come to the house and had to pay a special service fee because they do not service LG. A tremendous waste of time, I would not recommend any LG appliances.

I purchased an LG dishwasher two years ago. I immediately noticed that it was not washing the dishes and that even glasses that went in practically clean, came out filthy. A dried on crusty dirt was all over my glasses and plates. We called the place where we purchased, changed detergents, increased our hot water temperature, rinsed the dishes until almost completely clean, but the results were still the same. I had a service tech come out. He ran some tests and stated that the dishwasher was fine and that we were using too much detergent! He told us that we were supposed to be using 1 teaspoon. We tried that but it didn't work. Subsequently, we had several more service techs out. We followed all of their instructions, had pumps and heaters replaced to no avail.
Finally, a certified LG tech came out, replaced the pump three more times, the motherboard, hoses and soap dispenser - they didn't help. This past June, they replaced the dishwasher, which still did the same thing. It turns out there is a turbidity sensor that doesn't work! They are now offering to give us a pro-rated amount of our money back! What a crock of crap! We have been inconvenienced, their product was the problem and they have wasted more of my time than you can imagine - between the phone calls, service repairs and waiting around for the service tech, who happened to be at my house for five hours last week! I am at my wit's end and will discourage anyone from purchasing a product from LG!

I purchased an LG model LDF6810ST on 12/272006. Five months after purchase, the plastic washer rotor at the top of the dishwasher broke. The serviceman repaired saying it was probably just a defective part but otherwise, the machine is good. Now on July 1, the machine just stopped working. My warranty expired so I had no choice but to pay for a service call. After a diagnostic, which I also had to pay for, the service person discovered that inside the door, the computer board was defective and some of the wires had split due to some glue solutions that hit the wiring during production. I now need a new door liner and so far, I have spent $265 for something that was defective to begin with. When the part arrives, I have another service charge plus the wiring to pay for - about another $150. This machine is by any definition a lemon and should be replaced or at least have the parts sent free. LG said it's not their problem and Home Depot, after 2 years, can do nothing. This product is a disaster!
