We bought a Kenmore stove some years ago and we had the same problem that many others have had with the oven overheating and not turning off. We also share the problem of chipping paint. Thank God we were aware of this overheating when it happened for I fear that we would have lost our home due to fire (not to mention our lives). I wonder how many others may have lost their home due to this very same thing. Kenmore will never see the inside of my house again. It costs $330 to get this fixed. I can't afford these ridiculously avoidable costs with 5 children and a limited income.

I bought Sears Kenmore microwave at Kmart and thinking that I bought a good microwave, I did not save the receipt, box or warranty card. This is not the first Sears product that I have had difficulty with. Since it was my first new one as I always got used ones, I was very happy. But within six weeks, with very little use except the night before I made bake potatoes and the next day, it would not work.

The electronic control panel gets overheated and starts flashing and beeping. Purchased in 2004, replaced in 2007 and is broken once again. The cables are wrapped in plastic and start to melt when using oven every day. Replacement of control board and labor has cost over $310.00. This is not including getting it fixed a second time. I am trying to find out if the Kenmore gas wall oven #79030172400 has been recalled.

I purchased a Kenmore stove about 6 years ago. Last week, I put my pizza in to cook. It was supposed to take 20 minutes. After 4 minutes, it was about burned up. I opened the door and the smoke alarm went off. I shut off the stove and it showed it was off. It was a good thing I looked at stove a few minutes later. The broiler coil was on and just kept heating up. I had to get someone to pull out the stove to unplug it. I want to warn people and I have been making lots of calls. I am out of a stove now, and worried about this problem happening to others. I have called Sears, and told them someone should take this and look at it. This could be a fire hazard and happening to others. It was not much help there, so I have reported it to the Product Safety Commission. I have not heard anything back.

I own a Kenmore range w/oven Model #79096114401, Serial #VF44956205 bought in 2004. About 1 yr.ago I noticed that every time I put the oven on self clean the top of the door would get brown from burning. I reported this to Sears and they sent out a serviceman to see the problem. He said it was the gasket around the door. To replace it would cost me over $300. I said, "forget it because I can get a new range with that." Last month I read in the Newspaper that there was a recall on Kenmore/GE wall ovens for the same problem. The door would burn with self cleaning. I emailed Sears (a couple of times) and Kenmore and said, "if I am having the same problem don't you think someone should look into this before I have a fire." Still no answer. Why does someone have to get hurt before they do a recall? Please help me.

We bought our Kenmore Oven in 2001 - bought the extended warranty lasting until 2004. The Sunday before Thanksgiving 11/23, my husband was baking a meat loaf. After 45 minutes he happened to check it and the oven was in "broil" mode - had ruined his meat loaf and probably would have caught on fire if not checked. We tried to turn the oven on and off but broil mode was all that would work. We unplugged the oven, waited 15 minutes, plugged in the oven and without even turning the unit on, the oven went straight to broil mode. The repairman replaced a part which cost as much as the oven - $600. We started to go buy a new oven because we don't trust this one - but with Thanksgiving only days away and 15 folks coming - we decided to use it and watch it every second. I have numerous emails to Sears and to the Kenmore manufacturer - they could care less - and they don't take this serious. I basically wanted to know if there was a recall - but they can't tell me that and said there is nothing they can do.

Tonight, 11-25--08, we almost had a house fire. I was using the cooktop of my Kenmore electric range, model # 92002102 and had turned the broiler on. As I stood talking with my husband in the kitchen, we heard a loud sound of what sounded like a live electrical current and then a loud pop as a bright light shot from inside our oven. It began to flame so I threw baking soda on the flame. It seemed to momentarily ** before flaming up even higher. I hollered for my husband to cut the breaker as my kids ran out the door scared. The flame only died after the electric was cut. It looks as though the heating element has a melted hole in it. We have no oven or no stove for that matter as I don't dare plug it back in and cause an electrical fire. Of course this would happen 3 days before Thanksgiving. Sears, I had faith in you until I read this forum. Now I'm scared to even own a Kenmore.

I purchased a Kenmore glass top electric range Spring of 2002. The model # is 790.92411. Because of poor design, oven steam is vented below the left front control. Now, the paint is peeling off the control panel right under that control knob. I called Sears repair department, which is not located in the United States, and spoke to someone who had difficulty speaking understandable English. I wanted to talk to a service technician to see if there was anything that could be done. Well, guess what! They are no longer available to speak to the customer. So, I put in a service call in the amount of $85.00 to be told that it can't be repaired. The whole panel would have to be replaced for an amount close to $400.00. I paid $528.00 for the stove to begin with. Now I have to be careful that paint chips do not fall into the food that is cooking on the back burner. How can a company with many years of experience make such a product with such a design flaw?

Sears Kenmore Range - approximately 7 yrs.old. Have had no problems whatsoever until last night. Set oven to bake at 350 degrees. I put a pan of cookies in the oven and within 5 minutes, smoke was coming out of the vent on the back of the stove. I looked inside the window and the cookies were charred. At the same time, there was an error code on the touch screen, as well as an alarm going off. At that point, we turned the oven off; however, the broiler did not shut off. My husband tried to get the pan out of the oven, but was met with huge amounts of smoke.
Our smoke alarm went off and he went into the hallway to turn it off, thinking that by the time he walked back into the kitchen, the smoke would have gone down. However, the broiler was still on and when he tried to open the oven door again, flames shot out at him. We got the fire extinguisher and I also called for the fire department. The inside of our house is filled with residue from the fire extinguishers and the stove is ruined. I see there are other scenarios described on this website that are very similar to ours. Luckily, our house is still standing and we have insurance, but is still going to be very expensive for us as well. Sears needs to be held accountable for these stoves.

I recently purchased a Kenmore Elite SS gas range from Sears Appliance Store. I was not told that the top of the stove (part that goes over the burners, rolling about 2 on the front as well) gets EXTREMELY HOT. Had I been told this I would never have purchased the range due to the burn hazard! I have 5 grandchildren that can easily be burned by this, not to mention anyone that uses this range. Have there been other complaints such as this one?/Outcome? Any recalls that I'm aware of? I actually burned my side on it last evening. I fear for my grandchildren, as I know one of them will forget about how hot it gets, as I did, resulting in a bad burn.

I bought a Kenmore Range and Dishwasher within the last 2 yrs. The front burner did not seem like it was heating right. I had them come out while under warranty and they replaced it. They also told me that because it is a dual burner it is not made by the same manufacturer as the rest of the burners. That burner still does not heat as quickly as the others and the oven does not hold a constant temperature. The dishwasher was the quietest dishwasher and we were so happy with it. Now it makes more noise than the 20+yr one we replaced. I will never buy another Kenmore product even though I know it is built by one of the name brand companies. I think Sears and Wal-Mart only carry the seconds of the name brand manufacturers.

I purchased a Kenmore electric range model #790.96112408 in December 2006. We were baking wings in the oven and the oven got extremely hot and flashed a F10 code. We contacted the Sears Home Repair and was informed we were out of warranty and there was nothing they could do for us and they hung the phone up. We tried unplugging the range and resetting it like it said to in the owners manual. The 2nd time we turned the oven on, we could not even touch the oven, it had got so hot. It took the oven a good 2 to 3 hours to actually cool down enough to be able to touch it and unplug.
If I had known this excellent range, as my salesman had called, was going to go out within 2 years. I would have never purchased it in the first place. I, like others did not buy the extended warranty because I assumed the stove would last longer than 2 years. The first stove I had was a GE and it lasted 9 years, with no-repairs. Now I have to purchase another range, because I am scared to have this one repaired and it cost me almost as much as the range originally cost and might possibly cause a fire. Can anyone tell me if there was a recall on this great oven?

Kenmore model #66595802. I am also fortunate that I was home - the control board went out and the oven began to produce extreme heat within minutes. I immediately turn off the oven by the circuit breaker. The control panel if I pressed to hard would emit sparks and smoke on three different ocassions. I think that Sears should alert its customers to this danger. Especially now that they have an oven that turns itself on when programmed to do so. When I think of the heat that was emitted, it is a great concern.
I did contact Sears at one time and asked if there was a recall and they said no. I thought my oven was at just a problem, not anymore.
I caught the problem fairly quickly because I had been checking on the food in the oven. I knew that I only needed it to brown a little on the top. By the time I rechecked my food the food was literally black and burnt/with an intense - intense heat.

When I contacted Sears repair the just keep giving you to other persons. They do not let you speak to a manager. I was told they email me. ITs a joke.I made an appiontment with the recovery unit, to find out rhat its just another name for repair man. This repair man never came in my house .He told me he was confused why he was coming. I told him what had hapened. He told me it can be repaired has long as the spray the fireman sprayed was foam not powder because itis toxic. He said it sounds like it was a grease fire it will cost me 85.00 plus 300.00 to fix. He said since i just paid 500.00 in June I was better to buy a new oven. So now I must go thru my homeownwers insurance. I am so angry because thay do not mind you spending your money, but they just do not care.
The damage was self contained in the oven. I need a new oven because the spray the fire dept. was toxic. I am afraid to put this oven on. its a fire hazard.

On August 20, 2008, I was baking an apple pie in my oven. It is a Kenmore Model number# 66595802000 purchased new in December 2000. The temperature was set to 375 degrees. I baked it for 25 minutes then checked to see it was ok and removed some foil around the edge of the pie. I reset the timer for another 30 minutes to bake. I rechecked the timer and saw that there was 5 more minutes left and started to walk away and heard several beeps I came back to the kitchen and the timer was off and a code of F3 was on the screen.
I touched the off button and opened the oven door to check on the pie and black smoke came out and the pie puffed up in flames. I immediately closed the door and then cut off the power from the circuit breaker. The smoke would not die down and my smoke alarms were all going off as my home was now filled with smoke. I called the fire department because I was not sure how extensive the damage was, not knowing if it could be in the wiring behind the stove. Fortunately the damage was confined to the oven itself.
The stove was removed to our garage. A Sears technician came on August 22nd and told me that the oven had malfunctioned and that the broiler had kicked on. He stated with the doors closed it most likely had reached as hot as 1,000 degrees.
I have reported this problem to both the U S Product Safety Dept. and also contacted Sears Corporate Offices. As of this morning Sears has refused to make good on anything and I am not paying for a repair that was quoted to me of $1,202.79. On this website, I have seen several reports of the same thing happening. There appears to be a very serious problem with Kenmore stoves malfunctioning in this way. We were one of the fortunate ones in that I was home when the problem occured. We could have lost our home not to mention our beloved pets.

Purchased a Sears Kenmore Stove and it caught fire within a month of delivery. Went back to Sears and offered to pay a little for a better model and they refused. After about a month they finally sent someone out to replace the unit, but when the vendor called me he told me he was going to replace the wiring harness! It told him NO, you are suppose to replace the entire stove. Then after another three weeks of no stove to cook on they finally replace the unit.
The economic damage is we had to either buy prepared food or have it cooked at someone else house for about a month and a half. Physical damage is a burnt counter top. After months of fighting with the claims and insurance for Sears I still have not received compensation for the damaged counter top. I was asked to take pictures and have them sent off to Chris of Crawford who has been blaming Sedgewick/Sears and when I called SedgeWick/Sears and Spoke to a Carman she blamed Chris sighting she sent him the paperwork. And Chris keeps saying they sent multiple requests to them asking for the paperwork.
As a matter of fact I just called Customer Service and when I told them about this problem the Customer Service told me she was going to transfer me to someone that can help me and guest what? Thats right the person mumbled something that was inaudible and the line went dead That is what I call Customer Service at its best, passing the buck.

On June 10, 2007, we purchased a Kenmore Model #790-8558 gas range, installed by a Sears technician. Just over a year later on July 17, 2008, we used the broiler for the first time and after about 20 min, the control panel proceeded to melt due to the oven overheating. While trying to turn the unit off, a guests' acrylic fingernail was melted due to the the extreme heat coming from the control panel. Eventually we needed to use welding gloves in order to unplug the oven.
On July 18, 2008, I contacted Sears to set an appointment for a service technician to assess the damage. His observation, from an external view only, came to the conclusion that the excessive heat came from the vent located just below the control panel causing the panel to melt. He assessed the repair costs at $412. My concern about this range is it could have caused damage to my home or worse, bodily injury or death. There would be no purpose for me to replace the control panel when I don't have the correct diagnosis of why it malfunctioned. If in fact the position of the vent was the problem, then how did this product pass any safety inspections?
Furthermore, this range should be equipped with an auto heat shut off to prevent this from happening. How by replacing the control panel does it rectify the situation at hand? What is to prevent the oven from overheating again and melting the control panel or combustion? I have contacted Sears many times and talked to several customer service reps as well as emailed the CEO, Bruce Johnson. To my surprise, I have not yet received a response from the CEO nor did any rep want to resolve the problem because the range was out of warranty.
I will continue to pursue the answers I'm looking for and will continue to contact Sears via email, regular mail, etc until the range is repaired, replaced or removed from the market. Any contact names is appreciated. Thanks!
The oven no longer works and the control panel remains melted.

We came very close to having our house burn to the ground on the evening of August 10, 2008. I had purchased a Sears Roebuck Kenmore electric range (model 95002102)in 2003 and we had been using the broiler very briefly before I turned it to off. Less than a half hour later, we noticed heat coming from the kitchen, the stove was too hot to touch (it registered a blazing 500 degrees), and would not go off until we finally turned off the breaker.
I got on the phone with Sears and spent over an hour talking to four different Sears reps until I finally got a technician scheduled to come out and inspect the stove. He charged us $90 to tell us we had a control board problem. Had we decided to go out that evening after I turned the broiler to off, our house might very well have burned to the ground. Sears maintains that the appliance was out of warranty and therefore they have no obligation to ensure its safety. Why, I wonder, does our government not care more about its citizens by providing better consumer protection? I am enraged.

Regarding Kenmore stove Model 79091074600. Range has a dual pane window in the oven door. During normal use, any liquid (food juices) spilled on the open door will leak in between the glass panes. According to the service technician this is normal and expected for this model.
Besides the obvious pain of not being able to clean the stove. My concern based on profession experience with glass and high temperatures, is that liquid between the glass panes will cause uneven heating of the glass (especially with the high heat when self cleaning) and cause the glass to shatter unexpectedly and in an explosive manner.

The Kenmore microwave/range combination in our home stopped working completely in June 2008. We paid the $65 deductible to have it serviced under our home warranty contract. Initially, the technician diagnosed the magnetron as being bad and the source of the problem. After disassembling the product to replace the magnetron, the technician discovered a hole in the microwave lining. He explained that this hole made the microwave inserviceable because it prevented the microwave from effectively containing the microwaves produced thereby resulting in a health hazard to anyone using it. He went on to say that it was a manufacturing defect and not something that could be repaired.
Because it was a manufacturing defect, the home warranty contract no longer covered replacement due to non-repairability. We had been in this home for less than two years. The defect in the microwave was not something that I could have ever known about as a consumer. My attempt to be responsibile in protecting my investments failed due to a defect straight from the manufacturer. This appliance was brand new and included in the appliance packgae rolled into the cost of the home. The home was purchased at the end of July in 2006. The microwave occassionally made noise from the very beginning but we did not think very much of it and were not concerned since we had coverage under the home warranty we purchased.
In my attemtps to find out what the company was willing to do about the situation I was given the run around. I callled Sears and was told to call Kenmore. I called Kenmore and was told that Sears was the responsible party. I ended up sending a certified letter to Sears National Customer Relations and I am waiting on written response. I feel that Sears has a responsibility not only in replacing this item at the current cost of $520 since it was defective from the manufacturer but also in confirming that our use of the defective appliance for the previous 23 months has not negatively impacted our health.
Known economic consequence $520 for cost of replacement appliance.

Our Kenmore Elite Electric Range purchased approximately 9/19/2003, continually flashes error codes. Sometimes one burner is on, sometimes nothing is on and the stove top is cold. Tonight we used the front right burner using the large area. I had turned the burner off but noticed it was still burning on high but it was the small area of the burner not the larger. We attempted to turn it off with the knob, but finally had to use the breaker. We let it set for 30 minutes and turned breaker back on, the burner heated up to high again. Apparently we are not going to be able to cook unless we run out to the garage and turn the breaker off and on.
We had also purchased a Kenmore Dishwasher, refridgerator, and microwave and upright freezer all at the same time. The freezer has a battery back up, we have had it go out 3 times now. Each time we have attempted to revive it. Months later we will turn it on and it magically works again. We have already replaced the dishwasher, the seal to the motor went out after 4 years use. The refridgerator has constant issues with the icemaker in the door. I was told that for $1200 I could buy extended warrantees for all of my new appliances, IF they were in good working condition and less than 10 years old.
We have used Sears Kenmore appliances for 40 years and have never had some much trouble until we purchased all new appliances when we remodeled a little less than 5 years ago. We did replace the dishwasher with another Kenmore but bought the extended warranty. It was more expensive and a cheaper version of the first one.
Economic consequences are spending about $999+ for a stove that will probably have to be replaced before we have used it 5 years. As well as over $1200 for 2 dishwashers in the same period of time. Physical damage, I feel lucky we were in the kitchen at the time the burner refused to turn off. The pan of food could have been left on (since we thought it was shut off), who knows what could have happened.

I moved into my brand new home in 2006. I was upset when my bottom element went out in my KENMORE Range and I had to replace it a year after it was purchased w/o warranty. Soon after having the element replaced, I turned on the cleaning part and shortly after it heated it was beeping and the oven was very, very hot and started to smoke, I turned it off and let it cool down.
I attempted to use the oven the next day. I was making cakes for friends of mine for birthdays! They all burned up! Needless to say they were not in for the full time that the recipe called for. I can use the oven if I use it in 10 minute intervals. After that F10 reads and the oven overheats.
I had a sears repair man come out and check the F10 problem at the tune of $75.00. In less than 2 minutes he was able to tell me it was the Board and he could replace it now for $305.78. Hmmmmmmmmmm sounds like a real deal to me. Did I mention that it would only be under warranty for 90 days????? So..... Should I buy a new stove or new board... let me think. Definately a new stove and not one of the KENMORE make!
Frustration because the stove is less than 2 years of age! The damage could have been serious had I not been at home when the element caught fire and when the stove decided to go crazy when it was supposed to be cleaning.

I am a single homeowner. I purchased a house 3 years ago and didn't even turn on the oven until about 2 years ago. I had the kitchen floor re-surfaced and cabinets torn out. I took out the Kenmore range brochure and connected the plug in to the electrical 2 years ago.
After about 4 uses the door handle fell off and the oven door split and the glass was exposed. The door handle continues to fall off and it appears that the two screws that screw into the plastic handle heat up and the screws will not adher to the threads. This is a major problem because your oven falls apart and your must allow it to cool down before re-inserting the screws. It is a major deal for a single person to try to hold the door intact with pressure and re-screw the handle. This has happened so many times that I can stand using the oven for fear that it will fall apart as it typically does. The range is nice looking; yet it is rendered basically useless due to the amount of time required to put it back together.
called Sears and they said they have no recalls. I can't believe this. This oven # 790.96ll is a stainless steel and black unit with ceramic top. The model # is 316402710. I can honestly say that I probably have used it less than 30 times and the handles falls off on a regular basis.

I bought a Kenmore Elite Oasis model 2704 and the two year warranty just ran out days before it started a continous beeping noise when turned on.
I have ran into several complaints all over the internet on the same type issues with this brand and model. Why it has not been recalled is beyond me?

I bought a Sears Kenmore Elite ceramic top range in July 2006. I have only cleaned it a couple of times in that period since I don't use it in the Winter when we are away for 6 months. I noticed the other day, that in the area where the racks slide into, the baked enamel has started coming off in about 6 places down to the bare metal. I phoned customer service and they told me, since I was out of warranty, I would have to pay for a service call.
I was not very happy with the attitude of the service rep, and she said she would get a repairman to call to come and see it. I am still waiting for the call. Are there any recalls on this type of problem? My husband and I think it is poor qualitiy workmanship, and should be replaced.I had my old stove for 18 years before we bought a new one, and this didn't happen to it!

My parents bought the kenmore 47763 double oven. Upon installation there was a short in one of the circuit borads. The wrong replacement part was mailed to there house and when the technician arrived for repair he found out there part number was incorrectly entered in the sears inventory. Another technician came to install a brand new oven with the same result within a few minutes after installation.
The tech said there was either an overall design flaw in the oven or a bad batch of this particular part came off the assembly line.

I purchased a counter microwave (Model # 721.66312500) on 12/04/06 from Sears department store. Shortly after I purchased the microwave, I noticed that sometimes I will get a smell, which is similar to burnt wire when I am using the unit. At other times, I will hear a popping noise about 10 seconds after I put food in the microwave. At this point, I know that the food isn't hot because generally food doesn't get hot that fast. Also, I check the temperature of my food, and it is the same way it was when I placed the food in the microwave. I have had a concern about this matter every since I noticed the smell and experienced the popping noise. I know that there have been some recalls, and I would not want to wait until a disaster occurs. Has there been a recall on this item? If not, then this particular microwave may need some attention.
As of yet, there has not been any physical damage. However, the economic damage would arise if something was to happen with this microwave whereas it causes serious damage. And, that is not something that I want to wait to see if it happens.

I'm on disability and can't afford all this mess! When I hurt myself moving the microwave to the repairshop the first time - I told them on the phone to fix it here when the man came to work on my stove. The at-home repairman rescheduled the repairs for a month - twice. So it was 8 weeks after I called that the items were seen. Then when he got here he touched something on the back of the stove that sparked and fried some wires. They called the electrician that had worked on rewiring some of my house, and told me not to run anything till the wire was fixed. What we found was the main wire from the electric meter got welded into a glob. Sears denied they had anything to do with that and disscussed it with my electrician. The agreement bewteen them was that the bad wire from the meter was probably there all along and I NEEDED to pay for the repair of the wire myself.
In the meantime the Sears repairman came back out - replaced the electronic controllers in both appliances and declared them both FIXED! even though I couldn't hook the stove up to the electric to see if it worked yet. The thing that amazed me was his testing of the microwave - he takes one of my cups, fills it with water and runs the cup in the micro for a few seconds. If the water's warming up - it's working - and he leaves! It bleep done, and the number screen's showing 1 after I take my cup out and close the door. No, I didn't hit the 1-second button! Then 12 days later it decides it's going to keep running after the tea's been heated - like there's no shut-off. After trying to shut off the machine several times - I just pull the plug. When I plug it in the next day - it runs for 2 days. Then it does the same run forever routine - but without heating the tea.
The stove's had blinking electronics and a non-working oven within a month after purchase, but cause I was trying to get the rewiring done - I didn't call Sears to work on it till this January. I just didn't use the oven - and just fixed food on the cooktop. I would LOVE to roast some meat one day - or bake a pizza... but I suppose Sears won't allow me to. So the Kenmore microwave's been repaired 3 times, and AGAIN it's not working! The Kenmore stove was repaired a few months ago, and now it's showing the same signs of problems it had before the repair.
I bought these NEW from Sears when I was approved for Social Security cause I wanted something brand new to avoid hassels, and the warrenty to help me with any repairs I might need down the road. What happened is the appliances haven't worked right for more than a few weeks and needed repeated attention to HOPE to get a working appliance. That hasn't happened. Talking with Sears about how I REALLY NEED to be able to cook my own food at home, even though I can't stand on my feet for long - cause there's no one here to do it for me - doesn't affect their ticked-off and inadequate handling of this mess. If I starve - they just don't care! If I have to pay them repeatedly for the same repair over and over - they don't care. If I can't afford to pay them - well I can just live with an ill- or non- functioning cooking appliance. I really don't see what difference it makes cause after they fix it - it doesn't work more than a week or two anyway!
They treated me like it was a serious inconvenience for them to come out here to fix these items when they were still under warrenty. Now the warrentys have expired cause while the nasty repairs were going on - they sent me letters to pay hundreds to renew my coverage. If I could move the appliances myself - I'd just dump them at the repairshop door and drive away - I'm so fed up! I wish they'd just give me all my money back so I could go someplace else and get a WORKING stove and microwave!

I purchased 3 appliances from Sears (Kenmore Brand) at the same time. A glass top electric stove, a dishwasher, and a refrigerator--all stainless steel, and not cheap. The stove has by far been the worst. Less than a year after I bought it, the door stopped closing correctly. Basically, the door doesn't close tightly. Because of the problems with the door, the self cleaner doesn't work. I've been afraid to use regular oven cleaner because I didn't want to ruin the self cleaner, but I finally did. Dirt and debris do get in between the glass door, which is supposed to be sealed. The temperature settings have never worked correctly; in my case the oven doesn't get hot enough, which I guess I should be happy about considering the other comments I've read on here.
Just the other day I turned on a burner and saw flames shoot out from the connection UNDER THE GLASS STOVE TOP. That burner is fried, and I never turn on the other ones without staying in the room in case of fire. Why isn't someone doing something about the poor quality of these stoves and the fire hazard? Someday there will be a fire where someone will get hurt. This stove is a piece of junk, and a risk to use.
The dishwasher hasn't caught fire, but it doesn't work well, has had problems, and is definitely not worth the almost $1,000 I paid for it. The refrigerator has rust on the door. On stainless? Already? I am very unhappy with everything I purchased at Sears, and will never shop there again, but by far the worst has been the fire hazard stove.

My Kenmore oven stopped working in October of 2007. After numerous service calls and almost $2,000 in parts, my oven is working, but the burners on top of my gas stove have to be lit with a match. There are still parts on order, since they never send all the parts. I'm still waiting for more parts which are supposed to arrive on Feb 28, which means it won't be fixed until March of 2008 (maybe). They refuse to give me a new oven. I've been on the phone more times than I can count, and I've even been disconnected 3 times. They said they would extend my contract by 3 months, but didn't. They won't replace it until there are 4 repairs, so they have added all the repairs onto one service call (from Oct 2007-March 2008). I will never buy another Kenmore appliance, which is built by Whirlpool and Maytag.
Lots of aggravation and very frustrating. Waste of my time!

I unplugged my glass top Kenmore stove (2 years old), plugged it back in, and the electronic control went out. We paid over $400 for the stove, and now I need to pay another $137 to get a new electronics control board. I am not happy with Kenmore appliances and will not buy or recommend Kenmore to anyone. We really thought we were buying a quality product, but that is not the case. I will warn others of the quality of Kenmore stoves.
Advice to others, don't unplug your stove and move it, or it will cause you $137. The standard manufacture warranty is for one year, and you can buy an extended warranty for another year. Problem is, we had the stove for a little over 2 years. I guess if I planned to buy a new stove every 2-3 years Kenmore would be okay. I kinda thought stoves were supposed to last longer than that.

On October 2, 2007 at 3am in the morning, i was woken up by a loud exploding glass sound, when i went downstairs to investigate the noise I found the front of my 3 year old Kenmore range had exploded. The oven had not been used since 7pm the previous night and only for a short period of time. The glass was all over my kitchen floor extending about 6 ft or more from the front of the oven.
I contacted Sears regarding the oven and they informed me that they know about this happening in the past and that it could be fixed, but they cant get a repair person out until October 11th and I would have to pay for the repairs. Due to the fact that this is a known hazardous issue i feel that Kenmore/Sears should be paying for the repairs to the oven on their dime. If this would have happened during the day one of my family members could have been in the kitchen and there is no area in the kitchen where you are not standing in front of the oven door. We could have been badly injuried if it happened earlier in the day.
I will not be able to use my oven until the 11th at the earliest since they are not able to send a person out to see the damage and I have to pay for the repairs even though this is a defective item and should not be in anyone home, due to the dangerous nature of the explosion.

I paid $1200.00 for an oven range (Kenmore) that had a large oven and a second smaller oven on the bottom. Less than a year after it was delivered, I turned the small oven on to bake something and it never heated up. I called the service number for Sears and they sent out a repairman. He said it was a blown fuse. He then proceeded to tell me that the second oven feature was really bogus. He said that the 2nd oven, even though it had a temperature selection of up to 450 degrees, was not designed any differently than a warming drawer was and that it would continue to blow the fuse if I tried to use it for anything requiring a high temperature. I couldn't believe he was telling me this. I feel like I was sold some really pricey snake oil. Sears should be ashamed of themselves for this blatant and purposeful deception.

Purchased a Kenmore electric range, made by Whirlpool Model 665.95014102 in July of 2003.In August of 2005 I put a roast in the oven and went out for a walk while my husband was sleeping. When I returned less than an hour later, the house was full of smoke and the oven and broiler were on full blast. It wouldn't turn off. When I opened the door, the heat was so hot that it burned the inside of my nose. I had to turn off the circuit braker. The pan and roast were burnt to a crisp. If the circuit braker was turned back on, the stove immediately turned itself on to the burning mode. Sears would offer nothing.
I paid for a Sears service man to come out and he said the control panel needed to be replaced and it was our problem, we must not have good electric service. I purchased the part myself to save $ and complained and wrote letters and spoke on the phone to Sears but there was just nothing they could do. I did get one gentleman to compensate us with Sears gift cards = to the amount of the service call. Now 6 months later in March of 2006 the new control panel needs replaced again. Just woke up one morning and the error codes were there and the oven would not work.
I just ordered the part again, but feel that this product should be recalled and we should be compensated in some way. I believe that had I not returned home at the time I did the first time that I could have lost my home and my husband.

Kenmore double oven purchased in Spring 2002.
Electronic keypad went out in 2004. We replaced at a cost of approximately $225.
It has now gone out again in October 2005.
We have contacted Sears about this problem and they saw that the part only has a 90 day warranty and that we will have to replace it again. Apparently, Sears will not stand behind the Kenmore appliances that they sell. We were told that getting 4 years out of an oven is good.
We also have a Kenmore microwave that we have had to replace the door handle on which is already broken again. The door on this microwave also has a crack in it at the hinge area. We have not abused these appliances, but Kenmore has used a lot of plastic that just doesn't hold up.
We also have a Kenmore dryer and the lint trap handle is plastic and we have replaced it 2 times before I finally just made a wire handle and screwed it to the screen. Again, more plastic that just doesn't hold up.
