All my appliances are Jenn-Air microwave. Every one has had major problems. The oven control have been replaced, I am on my third or fourth dishwasher. Currently, the Microwave start button is not working (repair is about $800). Many of my neighbors have replaced their Jenn Air with other brands. You will not buy JennAir if you read many of the organic reviews online.

We remodeled our home and put in a Jenn Air drawer microwave. It worked fine for the first 1 1/2 years and then it started to turn on all by itself. Luckily, I was up watching TV when I smelled burning wires. I tried to stop it, but none of the buttons worked. It was hot to the touch, so I forcefully pulled the door open to get it to stop. That worked (thankfully). I put a fan on it to cool it down. But the next day, it would turn on by itself and do the same thing. It worked sometimes and then start messing up again. It would ask for the weight of something, even though no one was using it. We unplugged the microwave because we didn't want to burn down the house while we were sleeping at night.
I started a case with Jenn Air and it has been over 4 months of dealing with them. They will not replace it. This is insane. We will not use it. Instead, we have a small cheap microwave on the counter. What a waste of money. I don't recommend Jenn Air because they won't deal with the issues (not to mention you will be on hold for 45+ minutes each call). All they do is send a tech out, and then the tech says they don't know what is wrong (because it is sporadic). So Jenn Air's answer is for us to continue using a microwave that decides to turn itself on spontaneously, get hot, and almost burn the house down. I will NOT use this microwave!!!! Still trying to get Jenn Air to replace it. Too much money for something that didn't last long. Plus, this is dangerous!

Purchased a built-in drop down door Jenn-Air microwave/ convection oven in 2018. Door hinge came loose in 2020. Door does not close completely so therefore turns off mid cycle. I have so slam it shut for it to catch! I have had a technician out 3 times! They replaced switches on panel but failed to look at the door hinges. I have been waiting for over 1 month for the part to be delivered. Made attempts to call Whirlpool Factory Service however all agents busy! I would not recommend purchasing a Jenn-Air product. Quality isn't what it used to be.

The exhaust fan on my microwave has louvers that open and close every time the microwave runs. This piece is approximately 30” long. After using this microwave for only a few months it fell off about a year ago and hit me on the head, chipped my stove and then landed on my foot. I had a knot on my head for several weeks and a small cut. Jenn-Air replaced this part and sent a service guy to install it. Now about a year later it has broken again. The part that holds the louvers is made out of very thin brittle plastic. Both areas that the screws go through to hold the louvers to the microwave are broken. Luckily I noticed it was loose before it hit me in the head again. This is a very poor design and should be made out of metal instead of thin plastic. There is stress put on this very thin plastic every time you use the microwave. Others have complained of this louver breaking in the same place.

We purchased our home about 2 1/2 years ago. The home came with high end Jenn-Air appliances. We have had a number of software and equipment issues but the manufacturer covered them until now. Warranty was up and our Microwave had a faulty door switch which caused the electrical panel breaker to trip and would not allow the microwave to power back up until replaced. This is an incredible microwave and has every feature you can imagine and more but it is built with inferior materials that do not hold up under what I would call is less than normal use. By the extended warranty assuming it covers door switches. Part # WB24X830. I believe this is a poor design and should have been covered by the Manufacturer.

We have had our microwave/convection oven for about seven years. It still looks and acts brand new. The only caution I would have is make sure you measure it before you buy it. It is a bit longer than any other microwave we’ve ever purchased so we had to get fancy to fit it in the built-in space. By far the best microwave we’ve owned. It cleans up very easily too. Would recommend.

Same as the rest. Had problems with error codes. Called Jenn Air was told to turn off breaker to restart. It would restart but the problem has occurred several times over a few years until recently it will no longer restart. Called Jenn Air and was told out of warranty and were not willing to help at all. Obviously it is a defective problem which they know about but are not willing to recall.

Two years ago we replaced an old microwave with a new Jenn-air that cost $800. The clock started breaking down almost immediately and yesterday the whole thing stopped working. We only bought Jenn-air because it fit in a particular space in our kitchen but we won't be buying any more of their products ever again.

My husband and I bought a brand new house 3 years ago from a builder and he installed all Jenn Air appliances in the house. First week after we moved in, the fridge didn’t work. After numerous calls and multiple services we found out that its compressor was not working. (A brand new fridge with broken compressor??) In the end, they could not fix it so we had to switch to a new fridge, going through such a hassle. Next one was microwave. The turner inside often wasn’t rotating so we had to deal with some burnt food. Again after many service calls, it got fixed. After that was our cooktop oven. This was about a year after we moved in. Gas igniter plus burner were making scary noises - sounds of some leaking gas - when using. Again service call after call, it got fixed. It didn’t stop there.
Next time it was the dishwasher. First, this brand new dishwasher couldn’t clean better than my 15 yr old Bosch one. Have to pre-wash each and every dish before putting into the machine; otherwise, many of them came out dirty and have to do dishes again. Also, due to its flimsy design inside, most of dishes are falling on each other so it needs extra caution???? This is not a mechanic failure so we can’t get any service but just feeling sorry for ourselves! Our problems didn’t end there. Now it is our microwave and oven. Its computerized panel shows that there is a problem (which nobody knows) so we call Jenn air service Centre. We don’t know what the problem is and waiting for a service guy.
It is our third year owning all these Jenn air so-called higher end brand products and each and every one failed to meet our expectations. I can’t believe 4 out of 4 appliances had problems. We had no choice but if any friends or family mention Jenn air, we told them our ill experienced story right away. No Jenn air in the future for sure. They copied their exterior design from top European brands -they look nice and stylish- but without the technology and user friendly options. Therefore performance was really poor and below our expectations. Wish we can give no stars at all. :(.

We spent 20,000 on all Jenn-Air products for our new kitchen remodel. Stay away from these products. It took four visits to get our microwave correct. Then our 42" built-in refrigerator started freezing the food and leaking. The door seal was bad. Everything in the produce drawers freezes unless the drawers are on Deli setting. Doors don't close by themselves. You have to literally push hard to close the doors. Dishwasher needed new circuit board already. The ovens are sounding like they are coming on when they are not.
One morning when I came down I felt heat like the oven came on during the night. Scary. The only thing I haven't had repaired has been the cook top. Poor designs on everything. I had to be with out these products for weeks when they are practically brand new. Another service call on Friday to replace the circuit board. This is a nightmare. Stay away from these products!!!! I am beyond stressed as we don't have the money to just go get new appliances.

We bought our new Jenn-Air microwave oven combination one year ago; paid a ton of $$. We have had 4 service calls and are now on a first name basis with the repair woman. About once or twice every month - or once every 20 or 30 uses, the microwave unit just quits. The recommended solution is a "hard reset," which means you go to the circuit breaker panel and shut the power off to the unit for one minute...1,001 1,002 1,003... and then turn it back on (can you say, "reboot"?). Most of the electrical parts have been replaced on the microwave, but pretty much made no difference. I realize that is difficult to track down a sporadic problem, but we can't be the only ones with this problem. If we had it to do over, we would definitely purchase some other brand. We will never again purchase a Jenn-Air anything.

My drawer microwave is still under the original warranty and it has started sparking, as in FIRE, when in use. The company sends a technician out and he tells us this is due to a defect in the equipment where the factory enamel paint finish came off of the metal. They sent him with a little can of paint to spray it back on although he could not deny that we can expect his aftermarket paint to peel off faster than the factory paint did. The heat from the fire got so bad that it melted the wheels that allow the drawer to come out.
When I tell Jenn-Air safety department that I’m worried about a house fire since you don’t watch a microwave like a TV so I’m only going to know the paint came off during the next fire. So Jenn-Air offered me 40% of the price for a new microwave. Yes, you heard it right, 40%, about the amount you would get off on a good sale. The company takes the opportunity to capitalize on their own defect with another sale where I have to pay 60% of the price for a new unit. This is the original warranty and they would rather risk a house fire and potential harm to me and my family instead of replacing the microwave with a LKQ model. I am so deflated because I really thought Jenn-Air was a quality product, right up there with Wolf-SubZero but it is absolutely not even close. I am so devastated and disappointed.

I purchased model #JMV8208cs-1 over the stove microwave and exhaust unit in 2015. Beginning 2018 it began turning on by itself, and not turning on when you wanted it to. I paid a lot of money for this unit to have it malfunction in this time frame. In addition the unit is very large so the consumer needs to be very careful in considering the clearance. I have had to use gorilla tape to keep it closed but lately that is not working. I would not purchase this product again!

Very unhappy with the microwave/oven unit-we bought a cooktop and another wall oven that are great. The combination unit has a light that comes on spontaneously as well as a sound that it is shutting off when it is already off. This can go off every 20 minutes for hours unless you reshut it off. It is very frustrating when you spend this much money and have these problems. Contacted Jenn Air and they have no fix for it and no timetable for a fix. Will the oven turn on spontaneously???? Hopefully not.

I have now owned this product for over 6 months and would never consider buying it again. (Paid $800.) Today the service tech came out for his 2nd visit due to a 50 cent part he noted frequently breaks. Glad it was still under warranty!!! Jenn Air Microhood JMV8208CS has 6 fan settings and I only use the high so whenever I am finished I have to push the screen through each setting until it goes off. If I accidentally push it one too many times, I have to start all over again. Same goes with the Light option as I prefer to use only the high setting. The cooking time is a bit longer than what the package states - for example if it's 5 minutes, it will minimally take 5 minutes 30 seconds or even 6 minutes. I bought a Jenn Air gas stove top with electric oven at the same time and also have a couple issues with that as well.

Model jmc8130dds. Microwave oven combination bought new Summer 2006. Was 'told' is was "top of the line." Never been anything but trouble with doors, hinges, switches. Designed to fail. Well, the other day the outer glass panel on the microwave door fell off. Shattered on the floor. I have 2 year old twins. Got glass in feet. Spent hours digging glass out and still finding it on floor after vacuuming 4 times. The tabs on the bottom apparently let loose. Couldn't find exterior glass panel anywhere. Called Jenn-Air, was told they discontinued making replacements…UNBELIEVABLE!!! Jenn air rep told me, "Sorry don't make it anymore". I felt like a fool. Now I have a microwave with no exterior trim or glass. I’d have to throw away the entire unit ($3500) because Jenn air quit making the glass.
I was told law only requires them to make replacement parts for 7 years. First thing I noticed was the unit was manufactured in May 2005. I bought what I thought was new in June 2006 from Sears. Jenn air clearly isn't concerned about supporting their products or customers. I guess I'll tie a rope to the inner door frame to open it. I tell everyone who comes what Jenn air did to me here. Lesson learned, will never buy Jenn air again! Or from Sears.

I noticed other reviewers on here with the same issue and thought I should also voice my experience. After owning the Jenn-Air Microwave Hood combination Model JMV9186WP for 4 1/2 years with no problems, in June of 2016, the stainless steel cover (approx 30" long) and attached plastic vent box fell off and landed on my foot. I was not using the microwave at the time. Upon inspection, it was clear to see that the plastic tabs that the screws insert through to attach it to the metal frame of the microwave had deteriorated and crumbled apart. I immediately called my appliance repair group who came over later that week and replaced the part. He was quite surprised to see this and commented that he felt the same thing was likely to happen to the tab that connects the control panel to the frame.
Fast forward 9 months to March, 2017, and the exact same thing happens again. My 5 year extended warranty had since run out, and I was advised to call Jenn-Air directly. They are sending a new part with a repairman next week. I also stood my ground, and this is occurring with no cost to me. However, the problem still remains that this is happening at all. It was just a matter of luck that a small child, pet or something hot on the stove wasn't hit causing a much more serious situation.
Since this happened the first time after 4 1/2 years, and the second time after 9 months (3 of which I was away), it would seem that the replacement parts are even less stable than the original! Perhaps the heat rising from the stove/oven (their model by the way) is causing the plastic to become brittle with the changing temperature from room temperature to hot and back again, etc. Then the weight of the stainless cover panel contributes to the snapping of the tabs. I really think this should be a recalled piece before someone gets seriously injured or burned.

I purchased 3 appliances drop in range, dishwasher and microwave in 1998. The products are not worth buying in my opinion. I previously contacted your company concerning the microwave. I gave up on the other appliances. The microwave sweats profusely. When you open the door you have to have paper towels or dishtowels in abundance to catch the water. The interior of the microwave turned an ugly blackish color and rusted. The plastic wheel that the glass plate sets cut grooves into the bottom of the microwave and now it is one horrific mess. I contacted your technician about this some time ago and she told me that the excessive sweating in the microwave was a feature of your product and that there was nothing she could or would do about it. Just another unsatisfied customer. I will never purchase Jenn-Air products again and I will only give bad reviews. Thank You.

After having two different grill/vents fall off of our microwave, I decided to check if anyone else has had the problem. The review listed on July 4, 2016 was exactly what happened to me. I opened the door and the vent fell, hitting me on my head. This microwave is only 4 years old. The last grill/vent I purchased only lasted one year. Appliance PartsPros.com does carry the replacement part, but I hesitate to buy another poor quality part. The soften food feature has also quit working. I am very disappointed with this "upscale" appliance.

Like others I opened the door to the microwave and the vent fell down landing on my bare feet. The stainless steel vent is 30" wide and the latches are made of plastic which overtime deteriorate. Fortunately nothing was being cooked on the range below. Jenn-Air should consider upgrading to metal latches for a more secure and safe vent. When I looked on the internet for parts on this very expensive appliance I found that parts for this model are no longer included as inventory. Of course! It was made in Korea!

The appliance does not come with a "how to use" brochure with step by step instructions. The dashboard instructions are very confusing and appear to be incorrect. I am a slow learner and a senior - and really need clear, precise guidelines for new technology. I was informed by the Director of Marketing and a representative of the Office of the President, that "teaching" consumers on how to use their products was not part of their job description. I had the appliance and how I had to learn how to use it on my own. Whatever happened to customer service and corporate social responsibility?

I have a Jenn-Air wall oven/microwave combo. The hinges that hold the door on broke very early on and it is the biggest hassle to put the door on. Since the hinge is broken, the door does not close tightly so the baking temperature is not consistent and the light is often on without me being aware so the light bulb has burned out several times. I am thinking of replacing the whole combo but to do so it is about $3500. I am so mad about this product, I would never, ever consider buying another Jenn-Air product of any kind.

We bought this Jenn-Air microwave/stove hood combo (model JMV8208BAS) in May 2008 for $625 plus $150 for extended warranty coverage. In May 2015 (well after the expiration of the extended warranty), it stopped working. It cost us $200 for a service visit to discover that the circuit panel had failed. We also discovered that Jenn-Air stopped producing replacement circuit panels for this model several years ago. Needless to say, we're pretty disgusted with both the poor reliability of this product and Jenn-Air's failure to support its products when they fail. We're now concerned about the Jenn-Air stove that we bought at the same time, which recently started making strange noises. I recently wrote Jenn-Air a message at its customer support website. If I have a positive customer service experience out of this (however unlikely that seems), I will update my comment. In the meantime, we're now avoiding products from Jenn-Air and its sister brands.

We also remodeled and replaced our old, reliable Kenmore appliances with Jenn-Air. Within the first 2 months, the microwave broke and had to be repaired (it took over a week for replacement parts). Then the oven computer decided we were Orthodox and we could no longer cook on the Sabbath. That took weeks to repair. The refrigerator has been repaired twice. The dishwasher has never stopped working but the plastic parts inside keep breaking and can't be replaced. Recently our microwave died again. What pieces of junk! And Jenn-Air doesn't care. When I complained they said I was 'wrong'!?

I purchased a new Jenn-air microwave July 2007 and had no problems unlike the horror stories I've read on this site until last evening when I opened it and the door fell apart leaving a big crack in the upper corner of the door. The model number is JMV8196AAB and the manufacture date is June of 2002!!! Which sounds like the supplier sold it to me already 5 years out of date!!! I'm sure it would be dangerous to use this with a huge crack and it looks like there is no place to complain to that will listen so this site is a good place to "vent".

This morning, when I opened my Jenn-Air microwave, the vent panel fell off and hit me in the face, cutting my nose and then hitting my foot. Very surprised and shocked to see that the cheap plastic clips that hold the heavy vent piece in place had broken to pieces. I'm lucky I did not suffer more injuries as a result of this design defect. Have just read on this site that other consumers have had the same thing happen with these plastic clips just falling apart, so Jenn-Air is clearly aware of this dangerous problem. My microwave is over my gas range; if a pot of water or some other hot item had been on the range when this fell, this could have resulted in burns, fires, etc.
