HomeAdvisor website was easy to navigate and presented several options. My sump pump died on a Saturday when rain was expected, so my needs were immediate. I was most impressed that my phone rang within seconds of submitting my plumbing needs request. Kudos!

This work was done at my office. We have six ballasts replaced. The only small delay was that electrician did not have the parts with him but it did not take too much time to get them from his shop or an electrical supply company. He offered other services but we did not have any repairs extra to be done.

I especially like the online scheduling feature to set specific face to face meeting times with contractors. They did an initial lawn mowing & grooming as well as trimming. I have a large lot & there was a lot of debris & rough areas that were in need of tending due to the winter overlap; due to large majestic oaks as well as scrub oaks & ground cover debris. There are also areas of rocks & walkways that needed grooming because they were covered in dead leaves. They addressed all of those areas.

We had some raw acreage behind a second home cleaned up with debris and trees as well as overgrowth. Contractors or professionals have called within minutes of entering a request who are screened. Great way to find someone to do small repairs. The reviews were very helpful in making a decision. It would have been nice to know what payment options were available. Noticed it was on some profiles but not all. The estimates on certain repair work was fairly accurate.

I used Google to locate a local business to perform an irrigation repair. I did not find one that I was comfortable with so I tried HomeAdvisor for the first time. Within minutes, I had three different companies contact me. I chose the one that I was most comfortable with and cannot be happier with the repair. Reconstruct Bathroom, Laundry Room, Landscaping, fix-ups -- It sometimes takes several tries to connect with the right company. After someone shows up for an estimate, they do a wonderful job, but it is hard to get someone to show up for an estimate. You just have to keep hunting on their website.

One was out of area, the next was very flaky, unprofessional, unprepared for work I needed done, the third was perfect! Very professional, did a great job, and I will hire him again for other cleaning jobs. So, as with all contracting work, it takes some time and effort, but I would say HomeAdvisor put me in touch, eventually, with the right service provider for the job (Window Washing).

Main line replacement - HomeAdvisor provided me with three potential contractors. We went with Highsmith and Daughters, they were amazing. Have a few new projects to start soon. Looked into tub refinishing and looking to find an electrician for various projects and someone to put in a new attic entrance.

One company was listed for the work I wanted done (window air conditioner installation). There were multiple reviews which were overwhelmingly positive. I was called immediately after posting my request on HomeAdvisor site. The work was completed at a good price within the next week.

HomeAdvisor suggested Whole Comfort Home to install new Central Air unit in my home. I'm so happy with HomeAdvisor's suggestions and Whole Comfort Home. HomeAdvisor also has sent three contractors to bid on kitchen and basement remodel. All contractors have been very professional. I am very please with HomeAdvisor's suggestions.

Overall, I have been happy with the experience using HomeAdvisor. My jobs so far have been 1 for 2. The 1st pro showed up on time and finished quickly. The second job pro had to be rescheduled at their request then I had to cancel it for them not calling/had to move on with other errands for the day on the rescheduled date, but I'm not mad about it. I will continue to use HomeAdvisor for future job help until I have a bad experience. They did keep me update to date through their emails.

I like the fact that the vendors call you. I have called many companies to enlist services on various repairs and either l get no callback or they call back weeks later. Having the companies make the contact shows that they are interested in obtaining my business and are willing to do the work on my schedule.

Your call personalized the experience versus posting a need to the great big void of the internet, hoping someone would bite.

Home Advisor responded quickly, provided names of local contractors for a boiler replacement and most importantly, reviews of work done in the area. It was a useful resource and provided important, relevant information for making a stressful decision. I would use Home Advisor for future projects.

It's just OK. It takes more than an hour to verify one project, made me really frustrated. The customer service need to work efficiently. For e.g. I was asked home address and name and the details of project multiple time during the verification process. But HomeAdvisor did found good pros to do my projects.

As a contractor, we have a different spin on HomeAdvisor. While the service is free to consumers, they make their money using dishonest tactics and by hosing the business owners who are trying to make an honest living. We've owned our landscaping company for over 16 years. We were contacted by HomeAdvisor to become one of their "exclusive" contractors, telling us that they do extensive background checks and only accept a small number of businesses who meet their standards. Once we agreed to join, then they told us about the $1,200 "administrative fee" they charge to help cover their costs. We later found out there's no background check - they never had us sign releases (required for legitimate background checks), they never asked for references or customer contacts, and they never called anyone or made inquiries of any kind. The $1,200 fee was bogus.

Contractors, be careful when signing up for HomeAdvisor services. HomeAdvisor does not vet the customer referral. They collect because they don't charge the consumer. They rely totally on the customer filling out the applications correctly and that they are not truly looking for a contractor to do the work. Many customers that use the service are fishing and picking the contractors brain, knowing darn well that they're not going to do the work through a contractor. In many cases they plan to do the work themselves. I have over 40 examples of wasted money being spent this way with homeadvisor.

Neither the furnace nor the A/C would trigger when tested or when temps in the home reached presets. Blower motor needed replacement on the furnace and the reversing nozzle required replacement along with addition of freon. After many phone calls from HomeAdvisor representatives we signed up. It has been a nightmare ever since. We are a landscaping company in Oregon. We were not given one lead that meet our criteria with the exception of one which turned out to be a dud also. The leads have been either out of our service area, or for jobs we do not do, or phone call to potential leads not returned to us. You are immediately charged for a lead and when asked for a credit most often denied. On top of that, we have spent hours on the phone with HomeAdvisor trying to get our credits for inappropriate leads. We have wasted hundreds of dollars and precious time to no avail. What we had to go through to cancel our agreement was a nightmare!

He did a great job and, after we looked my existing electrical over, was able to save me some money with an easier solution than I thought it would be. After complaining about the cost increases they gave me 5 free leads and asked me to stick with them for another month. After that they promised to return my initial fee but refused. HA will send these leads to multiple companies besides your own, so there is no guarantee if you lock in the job. My company received 11 leads, which we were all charged for, that resulted in no work. Most of the "leads" never answered their phone or returned messages left by the office. So while our company is having its account drained with false work, HomeAdvisor is filling their pockets. I highly recommended avoiding this company at all costs and save yourself the headache of trying to get your money back.
