Switch in BR needed replacement. It turns out it was a very old switch that had literally burned out and had also burned out along the wire through the tubing. He had to replace the wiring and switch box. He also installed a wireless doorbell.

Had 2 providers, one for tree removal and one for roofing. Got names and called each one. Both were on time, did great work and were reasonable. HomeAdvisor will always be my "go to" place for workers. It's very hard to find providers in the McIntosh County area so I was pleased to find, use and be happy with HomeAdvisor.

HomeAdvisor is a great source to find professionals; however, many of them appear to want to overcharge because the disparity in quotes can be significant and HomeAdvisor should have a way to monitor this occurrence and have some penalty for contractors that indulge in this practice. HomeAdvisor can garner that information from a specific question addressing that subject in survey following job completion.

This encounter of using HomeAdvisor to find window-cleaning companies went very well. We had 3 companies contact us immediately and give price quotes. Previous tries with Home Advisor haven't always had such good results; we had a hard time finding contractors for deck building and applying stone veneer. I guess it must depend on the job type and skill level (and economy!!) that determines how many good matches you get.

My only dislike is that as soon as you put in a request it is a little confusing because you get a lot of information about possible contractors and sometimes the people on the list will call before you've even had a chance to look at the list. Also, some of the emails are redundant and it is sometimes not clear if you've responded to the right email or hit the right button for what you need or who you want to contact.

Our porch had been roofed by the previous homeowners. The job they did was not up to NY State Code; three-four layers in some spots. Rolled roofing, shingles, nothing looked good and was a horrible eye-sore from the road. The Jerry Proctor folks came out and did a great job; took their time and did everything with expertise and precision. It took them a good 5 hours for a small porch which only serves to say how poorly the roof's prior shape was in! It was awful to see the crap they had to tear-off. Such a relief to have an agency who can find services for a home owner in the immediate area of your home, especially when moving into an area as a new occupant. All services providers so far have responded with speed and were very reliable and reasonably priced.

Angie's List was charging me even after I had been a member for many years and they had started doing a free service, they never offered me free service. Attempting to get ANYONE to either call, confirm appointment was miserable. I signed up on a Friday. There is a 72 hour cancellation policy. I called on Saturday and Sunday, both times I was on hold FOR HOURS and did not reach anyone. I reached out to customer service chat on Monday and was informed that customer service DOES NOT WORK ON WEEKENDS. Apparently, the 72 hour policy includes days the company is not open. The issue is... they will not refund you without speaking to customer service because chat cannot do it. I just want my membership fee back. All of this was due to a customer choosing the wrong task for a job (a small job) but this caused HomeAdvisor to AUTO BILL me a large fee worth more than the job. I could not even reach someone to refund this until Monday.

Gutter cleaning - Came on time, checked with me and went right to work. Did a very good job and cleaned up when finished. Both brothers were very pleasant and informative. They answered any questions I had, let me know a follow up on my old gutter guards was recommended.

This service is supposed to send you qualified handyman. I have used it twice both times being farmed out to service providers named PORCH. The so called professionals that were sent were not professional at all. One couldn't complete the work quoted for 3 hours in 5 hours. He never finished the job quoted. He left me all left over materials to dispose of and I had to sweep up dust debris nails all left behind both inside and out.

After one day of repairing the damage that was done, there is already marked improvement.

When looking for landscaper had great experience. However when looking for house cleaner was much more problematic. They were way too expensive. I was looking for someone to work 3 hr every 2 weeks at a cost of $15-20 per hr. They wanted $80-90 per hr.

I also received phone calls prior to arrival which were very helpful. The experience was positive and I strongly recommend the service.

Contacted someone on the list and my call was returned quickly. Someone came out the next day and we negotiated an acceptable price. The carpet was then cleaned within 48 hours. The carpet was spot treated, deep cleaned, and then steam cleaned. It looks pretty good considering the white carpet had not been cleaned in 12 years.

I actually had home remodeling done and I went on Facebook and asked "friends" for recommendations. One of the ladies on my list suggested a contractor that she worked with before and sent many praises about him, so I went with this contractor and boy oh boy do I regret every second that man spent in my house. While getting recommendations from friends can work from time to time, it's great to have a "search engine" that vets the pros and you can read real reviews from people you don't know so they have a hand in wanting to cause you misery. Had someone contact me within a reasonable amount of time to do this work (Bathroom Vanity). Due to Hurricane Harvey and many contractors tied up in the area, understand it was difficult to find many alternatives so it was somewhat limited but still did the job.

I indicated what I was looking to have done and got a few people calling me to give me a quote. This was a great way to find a landscaper. I'm happy with the one I found and the job that was done (ripping out front yard and replacing it with sod and adding a brick boundary between the grass and mulch in front of my house).

Minor Kitchen Remodel - Home Advisor was about to find me Jesus with Almendarez Construction. Really nice guy. Very quick response and professional. Project is scheduled to start on 10/23/2017. I have had 2 good experiences. One with concrete repair and another with sewer pipe cleaning. So, I trusted their evaluations of their "pros". I was wrong. I was scammed by Appliance Check Pro for a dishwasher repair. They were unresponsive, after giving them a deposit, left it in disrepair and I had to purchase a new dishwasher. Awful experience. I may never use your service again.

I was looking for a pest control person or company to do a small job for me. I put my information into their database and they matched me up with a so called Pest Control company a few miles out of town. They called me right away and got all my personal information including pictures. They said they would be right out in a day or so. Well after a week I made several attempts to get in contact with them and no response no answer and no text messages. It was a waste of my time and they were possibly scamming me for my personal info! Go figure! Some vetting HomeAdvisor!

I am very grateful to have a business such as HomeAdvisor who takes the time to vet the various businesses for us so we can hire with confidence. How else can we know which business is honest? Personally I prefer HomeAdvisor over Angie's List because your information is easier to understand and I find the business people are much more eager to contact us than those on the "List".

I needed advice and a quick recommendation for a company to clean dirty heating and cooling ducts before repainting a newly purchased home. HomeAdvisor did a good job of putting me in touch with services! But I think that the question about timeframe of appointment was not clear. I indicated that my problem was NOT an emergency, but I wanted someone to address my problem ASAP. I selected the next available timeslot (Monday morning), but I didn't get any responses. I would have preferred to say "first available timeframe" and have some response. Luckily two companies called me later in the day to see if they could help... and I ended up working with one of them.

My pool needed resurfacing and I hired Colonial Pool & Spa in Fort Myers, FL. The pool required quite a lot of prep work and their techs took care of all the work that was needed. They did a beautiful job. I would highly recommend this company for all your pool needs.

Hired a crew to power rake and aerate. Crew arrived within specified hours given and we're done in 90 minutes they did a great job of cleaning up and that ruining the lawn. I would hire them again to do the job next year
