This happened a few years ago but I couldn't leave the review at the time because too much time had passed. Anyway, what happened was I bought a Ryobi set and they mistakenly sent me two. They only had charged me for one. Being the nice guy I am I emailed them to let them know. They ask if I could send the extra one back. They paid for the return label but not for the pick-up. I had to drive to the place for it to be delivered. Which was about an hour drive to and from. They had told me they'd give me a discount for the time I had to spend to drop off the package. (I don't know why they didn't just let me return it to any Home Depot as that would have saved me time.)

When the discount arrived in the mail I was shocked. It was a gift card of either $50 or $100 dollars. I was expecting just a coupon. But when I went to use the card it was empty. When I notified the guy he didn't care since he got the product back. That is the last time I ever help out a company again. An hour wasted not to mention gas prices were at an all time high at the time.

A Toxic Environment. A loyal and faithful customer over fifteen years. I have personally experienced extreme racism at this location. The first incident a ** female clerk intentionally snatched a bank card from my hand when I was going through my billfold to find the right card. I never received an apology from the store manager instead her behavior toward made me feel as if I was responsible for the clerk’s egregious behavior. Thinking this was a one time out of the ordinary event I continued doing business at this store spending thousands of dollars to maintain my homes.

If you don’t believe lightning strikes twice, well I certainly do, this was the second strike. I was being waited on by a young man going through the self-serve with a two dollar piece of trim when all of a sudden out of nowhere a young ** employee comes over to the check-out area, removes the lumber and asks me the length. I responded telling her, “It’s about two feet.” She snaps back and says, “It’s 30 inches.” I was bewildered at the young woman’s aggressive behavior.

I said ok that’s fine. Before I knew it the manager came over to the area and began to berate me as if I were a child. She stated, “If I ever hear you talk to one of my employees like that again you will not be welcome in this store.” I have not returned since that day. I informed Home Depot Corporate. They were very apologetic but nothing further as if my complaint had fell on deaf ears. The following is a definition of a minority and you will see the close pattern how Home Depot views minorities; A group defined by five (5) characteristics; unequal treatment, distinguishing physical or cultural traits, involuntary membership, awareness of subordination, and in group marriage.” - Schaeffer, R. You can Google “Home Depot” “Racism” and you will discover how often this occurs.

I went to the Home Depot store in Victor New York to purchase two outside lamp posts that I found on the THD website. I told her that I wanted to order them through the store so that I could get the veteran's discount. The woman at the customer service desk told me that I have to order them online and come in to get the discount afterwards. I went to the store today and was told that the discount doesn't apply to online orders as online orders are not home depot. THE ORDER WAS PLACED ON THE HOME DEPOT WEBSITE!!! The manager stated that they don't give veteran's discounts on online orders because anybody could claim to be a veteran. I told him that that is not true because a person has to show a veteran's ID to get the discount. He said "well I'm sorry but that's the way it is. Tool rental charged me for damage protection that I did not agree to. They insisted I agreed to it because I signed the electronic pad but the tool protection clause was not visible on the keypad and I was not asked if I wanted it. Refused to refund my money for this damage protection. Then, when finally charging me, after having this conversation with them, the cashier actually scrolled through all the terms and conditions ON MY BEHALF and then said "sign here". After JUST having the conversation that I was not given the opportunity to read what I was signing to in the first place! Home Depot needs to review their charging policies, they are playing fast and loose with peoples' contracts and signatures.

Can you believe the lack of customer service and common sense this Home Depot can have? I purchased an item for $199 during Black Friday. Just a few days later, it was $20 less on their website. I contacted the Home Depot’s customer service 800 number to make sure I could go to the store and get the difference. The person on the phone confirmed I could get the difference in price within 30-days but I would have to go to the store. I just got back from the store (Dec 8th, 2019) after waiting 30 minutes for the manager (who was a no-show) since they refused to give me the credit.

The rude cashier in the Customer Service area had an attitude and kept telling me it was different then on-line(?) “So you are going to make me purchase the item on-line to be picked up here at this store and bring back the same item I purchased on Black Friday for a return?” This is what I asked the rude cashier After waiting almost 30 minutes I purchased the item on-line with my phone (while at the store waiting for the no-show manager) and thanked the useless cashier.

In November of this year, I purchased a set of the LG signature series washer and dryer through Home Depot. The delivery team damaged my property and the washer and dryer are completely non usable. I’ve been arguing with Home Depot and their delivery teams and 3rd party return teams for a week now and they refuse to take these products back and refund my $3600! Here’s my detailed experience and exchange with customer service. I have detailed photos and videos of the damage and the dryer being completely a fire hazard. Do not buy appliances from Home Depot. You will experience hell and headache and may not get your money back. In reply to your questions on my claim # ** Here are my detailed replies.

I, Dr. Deed **, am the home owner, Eagle, ID.

    1. On Wednesday Nov. 27 I had a 3 appliances delivered from the Home Depot Delivery-service--whoever they contracted with:
-- Box Freezer for my garage
    ---LG signature series Washer

    --LG signature series dryer

    2. Deliver was accepted by my girlfriend as she was working with contractors on the remodel of my new house and I was out of town.

    3. Delivery team- had her sign paperwork without her observing what they had done. The delivery team immediately hurried from the premises as they knew that they had damaged my property.

    4. Within minutes of the Delivery team leaving Cheryl ** inspected their work and noticed several damaged areas to my property including:
--Damage to my garage wall where they placed the freezer. Note the Garage was completely empty as it has just been painted with new floors. Thus, damage was obvious.
---Damage to my Laundry room floor where they scratched and broke the washer and dryer platform. Note this was brand new as it was just designed, remodeled and painted.
---Damage to my Dryer with broken internal pieces and scratches.
---Damage to the Dryer itself--It makes a terrible noise, and starts to smell like it is burning and smoking.

---Damage to the Washer --it has an internal leak from the drum--well above the drain valve.

    5. See All Photos of Damages that are Labeled.

    6. My girlfriend called the delivery service and completed a survey within 30-minutes of the Delivery on Wednesday Nov. 27. She spoke to a representative for 2-minutes and then was promptly hung up on by this representative. See screen capture of her phone records for proof of this call and date, and time.

    7. When I returned to my new house on Sunday Dec 1st Cheryl showed me the damages and I attempted to turn on the Washer and Dryer to see if they worked. The washer leaks from the drum above the drain valve. The dryer is totally non-useable and made a loud grinding and terrible noise. The motor started to smell burnt and smoke was apparent. I called home Depot Sunday night December 1st and spoke to a claims advisor for more than 30 minutes. See attached Screen capture of this call. I was informed that a supervisor would contact me within 24 hours--Monday Dec. 2. Well guess what, no one contacted me.

    8. Due to lack of contact by home depot, On Tuesday Dec 3, while traveling back home, I texted their number on my email purchase order to again file a claim with home Depot. See text sequence of this exchange.

    9. Witnesses who can attest to the damages caused by the installation-delivery team are My girlfriend and my general contractor managing my home remodel.

    10. I'm demanding a full removal of the LG-signature Series washer and dryer from my home and a FULL Refund of my purchase price. I have lost all confidence in the Home Depot, These LG products, and their delivery team. I do not want these products, they don't work, have damage, and I've never used them--only started them once to see if they worked.

    Sincerely,

    Dr. Deed

Missed the install date, and still havent had the installation, date for installation is almost a full month out from purchase...sales person upsold the carpet with the 7-day guarantee, so they made more money and simply wasted all my time and capital to get project finished. Had to cancel family plans for holidays due to space not being completed, out not only the higher rates for the carpet and install, but also out hotel fees for family we put up elsewhere. They offer a lot of apologies but have not yet compensated us in honor of their 7 day guarantee. This is a horrible place to buy flooring/carpet.

I placed an order in early November for a 'online only' kitchen sink. The estimated delivery time was 3-12 days - perfect I needed it in 14 days. The sink came 22 days later - after I had to track the package down and ask Home Depot to provide the proper documents for the package to clear customs. The package sat at the customs location for 8 days before it was cleared. When the sink finally did arrive, it was damaged and the online customer support rep told me 'I'm sorry ma'am, there is nothing we can do to help you, would you like to keep the sink and I can give you a $50 Home Depot gift card!'. Hands down the worst customer service I have received in a long time. I went into one of our local Home Depot stores to see if there was any way to get a new sink in a more timely fashion, and even the manager who helped me was appalled at the service received.

Several days later tried to find if they carried Vinyl fascia board. It took 14 minutes on the phone to be misdirected to non Vinyl product as opposed to what I was looking to purchase. Looked it up on the web it was not Vinyl. Called Customer service back again. They routed me to building materials. I was on hold 31 Minutes. The phone would ring over and over, never to be picked up except by the customer service twice who routed me to the “never pick up” cue yet again. Was trying to resolve this issue over two weeks and they don't care because they are saying it's the responsibility of the manufacturer. Called the manufacturers, Electrolux, they are even worse, first, they said we must troubleshoot, and I must be home, after calling several times, they gave a phone number to schedule for someone to come and check, when I reached out to this company, they said no one available. Crappy Pine door from China was the last regret and now after ordering appliances for a rental property 10 minutes away from one store location I finally have had enough and canceled my order. The 3rd party delivery service (my only option HD gave me) will only deliver when it's convenient for them. Fine...rearranged my day and my contractors to sit for 5 hours to no avail. Then first availability is a week later. Still on their terms and no credit from anybody for my time or the fact that I had to pay my contractor to sit there.

This experience has now cost me $240 and I still have no appliances and Home Depot couldn't give 2 cents about it. They take my money and say "It's out of our hands when it comes to delivery"!? BS. Why are you using a horrible 3rd party to deliver your products? I could have picked up the appliances last week and my tenants could be moving in today. Home Depot Experience. Front door installation takes months maybe a full year? Ridiculous but true!!! Please beware if you are planning to order an installed custom door from this place (East Windsor, NJ) as you will find poor service or anyone at this department (doors/windows/millwork). I believe the staff here are all goofing off somewhere behind in the store and are incapable.

Let me start with my terrible and trying experience that started almost a year ago as I was shopping for a custom front door in November 2018. I wanted the best, so price was not an issue, and after waiting for almost 30 minutes waiting for 'Joe' to appear after being paged several times. I assumed this was this only time I would have to wait, until I place my order. But I was proven wrong, as they had to send someone to measure the existing door which took 4 weeks, which I can understand. But wait, I forgot to tell you that even after the measurements, no one reached me for 2 months, so I went to visit the store and after waiting for 30 minutes, 'Joe' appeared and apologized that he had entered an incorrect phone number.

I don't want to bore you with the details, but it took me 10 more visits and 8 more months to the store to find why they had an excuse each time, sometimes that manufacturer was not responsive or 'Joe' did not know what he was doing. This visit was needed as ‘Joe’ and his manager 'Gail' were always mysteriously busy to answer my call and did not care about my custom door. BTW, they had already billed me for close to eight thousand dollars and I still do not have a door installed even though it had arrived at the store in October.

I had pleaded to Joe and his manager to make sure the door would be installed for Thanksgiving, including their corporate customer service and was promised that door would be installed on 23 Nov. (I have records of each encounter.) Guess what happened? 'Joe' called me today November 23, 2019, saying that the measurements of my delivered custom door was 2 inches short and he did not know when they would be able to re-order or install. So after waiting for 12 months and countless hours chasing East Windsor staff/manager/customer service/corporate office, they have my money, and I got zero service/merchandise and only empty promises. Door/Windows buyers please be aware!!!!

When we were being helped the young lady at the paint counter kept stopping to help another customer who came in after us. She even left the area to go search for whatever they needed! The trainee that was left with us didn't know how to help and we ended up in small talk. He kept apologizing and saying she'll be right back. When she came back from helping the other customer after a few minutes we were interrupted again by the same customer and she left us again. Wow! We finally finished up after close to an hour for what should have been a just few minutes.

To top it off today we just came back from Home Depot to purchase paint. The same young lady and the trainee were there and when she saw us she leaned over and whispered to the trainee and he looked up over at us. So whatever she may have felt personally toward us as an inconvenience she needs to keep her attitude and opinion to herself. She may need additional customer service training to learn what professionalism actually looks like. Or at the very least learn how better to hide her off-color remarks. It only takes one irate customer on an off day to set her in her place. It wasn't me that day but without corrective behavior, it is a guaranteed outcome!

We had the worst experience with the communication between the third party delivery company Home Depot uses in Delaware and the staff at the local store. We bought 4 appliances online and the Wilmington Home Depot sent an email filling our order request. The initial 4 hour delivery window came and went on 10/31 with a call several hours after stating no one was home for the delivery. The address of delivery was a house for sale and not our personal residence so we had left already. Another delivery was scheduled for a week later. The 4 hour window came and went again without a call or delivery. This was the second time someone waited at the house and took off work. The delivery crew made notes to Home Depot that the job site wasn’t ready. This wasn’t a job site but a finished home for sale and someone was waiting the entire time. Lies. A THIRD delivery date was scheduled and I was told 8-12 delivery time.

A truck and crew show up at 8:45 without any of our order on their truck! They said the warehouse in Dover knew this and told them to go ahead and go! A call was placed to the customer service delivery support center in Tennessee for this third party company called Forward Air and I was told our products would be on another truck arriving at noon. I called work and said I would be in after 1pm. Unfortunately I waited until 8pm (12 hours) without a call or delivery once again. The manager at the local store said they could only email this company. I had MANY conversations with this dispatch in Tennessee and they only had an email to get in touch with this warehouse in Dover as well.

The next day we went to the store and spoke to the specialty manager and he was unable to get anymore information for us as to where our appliances even were!! The notes the delivery crew put for the third delivery stated they called us. Lies. We asked for a full refund after we were told the next possible delivery date now was in another week!! Unbelievable!! How can we trust the 4th delivery will even happen?!!! We were told the delivery company had to release our money for a refund or we can get some compensation once the order actually gets delivered!! What a scam! We went to Lowe’s and had the appliances we bought from them delivered by 9am the very next day!! Never again will I buy appliances for delivery at Home Depot!!

As I was completing my application online, the customer behind me interrupted and the associate helped him instead. She ignored me for so long my application shut off and we had to input all the information again. She didn’t seem to be paying close attention as she input my information.

When she told me that the credit card application was denied, I told her it must have been a mistake since I have excellent credit and have never been denied a credit card before. I asked her to redo the application since it must have been an error. She refused, stating I would get a letter in 7 to 10 days. I was stunned and left the store. This was by far the worse customer service experience I have ever had. I am still deciding whether to go to the Home Depot in West Nyack or find the same merchandise at Lowe's.

I said, "Why in the 4 months didn't you send me a email, mail a bill, or call." So I paid $16.00 and asked, "What could you do about the interest," They said just pay $58.00 and it would be fine. My credit score dropped, What a scam, Cut up card, Will never step foot in a home depot again, It's not right. Why did they wait 4 months to send a email.

I ordered a large and heavy vanity so paid extra for the Ship to Home Room of Choice option, which specifies they will bring the item to the room of your choice, unpack it and take away the packing material. But when the delivery service arrived they insisted I had to sign a waiver to absolve them of responsibility for damage to the product or my home. When I refused to sign, they left with the vanity, which I had already paid for. Home Depot keeps telling me a waiver is not required but the delivery service keeps saying if I won't sign one, they'll "need time" to figure out what to do. One week later and I still do not have my vanity.

First, I ordered floor panels after a recommendation from a floor expert at Home Depot who I had consulted with in person in the store. When the panels came two weeks later, they were the wrong wood. I asked them to exchange them with the right items, and they confirmed that they would do that, and they ordered the correct panels. However, then nothing happened for weeks. I keep calling, with no results. I was told the order couldn’t be found, or that the order could be found, but they had delivery problems.

Finally, I went to the store and spoke to a supervisor who confirmed the order, but he was unable to find the panels that had already been delivered to the store in their warehouse. After an hour, I left while he promised he’d work on it. Another week passed without results. More calls, more confusion, and finally a delivery date. I waited during the delivery window for 5 hours, but no delivery happened. More calls, and apologies from HD, and a new delivery date for the following week. The next day, I was out of town and received a call that the would deliver in 20 min. WTH? I had no way of getting to my house in such a short time, and had to call again to make sure they’d kept the delivery date they had scheduled for the next week. Finally, I received the items. It had taken five weeks to get the right delivery.

Second, I ordered a GE fridge from Home Depot. There was confusion on the website whether the door was reversible and I called HD. They told me they didn’t know, and asked me to call GE. I called GE and they said, yes, it’s reversible. I hired a task person to be there during the delivery window. When the fridge arrived, they had the wrong model. A lost day of waiting and paying a person to wait while i was at work. Because I rejected the fridge (wrong model), HD cancelled the order.

I contacted customer service and they told me because the order was cancelled (by them), i had to “physically go to the store” to reorder because the order had been cancelled. I was confused and called again. This time, i was told, I had to “reorder from GE”. I was even more confused since I had ordered from HD and not GE. I called several more times, and was told i had to re-purchase the fridge, and when ask for possible compensation for the waiting time, was disconnected. Same during two other chats.

I contacted an elevated customer service person via email who seemed nice, and re-ordered the fridge for me via phone. He also gave me gift certificate, but then told me the fridge had “gone up in price within the week” and asked me to apply the certificate right away to the new purchase, which seemed strange since it left me without certificate really. However, he was nice enough to set up a new delivery date.

Third: Again, Int the proposed delivery date, I waited for five hours, and the fridge finally arrived last minute. The delivery people opened the truck and a wave of what smelled like ** escaped. They took out the fridge, without much care, showed me the upper part, and asked if I accepted it. I said, "Let me see it first," but they were very pushy, eager to move on. I noticed that the door swing was on the other side. They told me that I had to order the swing at purchase and pay for it, and that it “needed to be done in the factory”. Then I noticed that the door rubber on the freezer was torn, and I had to send the fridge back again. More customer service calls, during which-again- I was told that the door reversal had to be done in the factory at GE. I then contacted the elevated customer service person again, and he told me that that wasn’t true. He scheduled a new delivery for the following week.

Fourth: The delivery window was confirmed for 2-7 pm. Again, I waited five hours, but no delivery of the fridge. For 6:30 on, I called the delivery company, but no one picked up until after 7pm. They then told me the “truck had broken down”. This time, I cancelled the order as I was so frustrated with HD. The customer person contacted me and apologized, and told me that the order could not be refunded via phone, and that had to physically go to the store to swipe my card to get a refund. WTH? No other compensation was offered. I went to HD to swipe my card to get the refund. This was the last trip I will ever take to HD. I’m done with them. Lowe’s it is from here on…

We purchased a new dishwasher, and paid for the installation and the removal of the old unit. When the delivery arrived, we were told that they couldn't install the unit because the old unit was hard wired. This is something which should have been noted at the time of the purchase. It was not! If we'd have been informed of this limitation at the time of purchase, we could have made arrangements in advance. Now we have new dishwasher, still in the box, in the middle of our kitchen, with the old one still in place.

According to their website, they do have services which could have remedied the situation, but when I returned to the store, it was not even suggested. Instead, I got basically a shrug. Oh well, sorry about that, fella! I think Home Depot really needs to look at how they handle these kinds of situations. They could easily have turned this into a positive experience, but instead, they lacked the foresight into what really develops good customer relations. Better training, and understanding of the customer - entrepreneur relationship is definitely in order. Very disappointed in HOME DEPOT.

Most people do NOT realize that a lot of the products they stock are of lesser quality and that is how they undercut the competition. These product may look similar, but that is as far as it goes. My biggest complaint is their "bait and switch" tactics. It seems to happen a lot with plumbing products. For example you check on their website to see what your local store has in stock for a valve or expansion tank. I am complaining about Home Depot's appliance delivery service and Sedgwick, their insurers. This past May I purchased a new range and a dishwasher online. I also purchased installment for the dishwasher and both appliances hauled away. The delivery men arrived a week early at 8:30 in the morning with no warning. They promptly told me they were unable to hook up the dishwasher and sat it in the box in my living area. They told me to call a plumber who I would have had available to install in your 3 day inspection period had I known. Then they installed the wrong range. During all of this, they scratched my hardwood floors. When they unloaded the unboxed range from the truck, they sat it in my gravel driveway and it collected tiny stones underneath. When they slid it into the space, my floors were scratched. They also left the old range sitting near my shed and did not haul either appliance away.

I drove to Home Depot and complained and they told me they started a "claim". What a joke! I was called months later and had to sit on the phone for an hour and half while their Sedgwick rep asked me painstaking details about the experience and annoyingly repeated my words to herself while typing. I was contacted about a month ago for photos. That Sedgwick rep said that she needed a photo of my floor showing the entire kitchen. Stand back to get the entire kitchen into the photos, photos outside, through the doorway, many more photos. The scratches do not show because my kitchen is dark and the angle I have to shoot. With overhead lighting or a camera flash, the floors shiny surface reflects and hides the scratches. When I sent close up photos, she said they could be anywhere in my house or someone else's house. A month later, request for more photos. Of course, they are not good enough either.

Now she is saying that I did not prove that they damaged my floor and the burden of proof is on me. Why didn't you send someone to my home to take photos shortly after I complained and then you would have your proof? The answer is because then you will have to compensate me. Home Depot claims no liability. They hire "third party" delivery teams and they use the Sedgwick insurance company if damage occurs. Sedgwick has one star reviews for good reason. SHAME ON YOU HOME DEPOT AND SEDGWICK!

The installation occurred April 2019, there were two windows that were cracked from the manufacturer. The installation crew said that it would be replace in about 3 to 6 weeks. What actually occurred is the replacement did not occur for an astounding 6 months. I wrote a letter of dissatisfaction to this retailer and never received a response. The installation was completed, but took 6 months. In my opinion, this is unacceptable.

Home Depot has most of the things that I need in a hurry, and their prices are very competitive--especially during sales. A few negative comments, though: It is very hard to find someone to help, and they are not that knowledgeable; also, the products are low quality a lot of the times. I have been told by a contractor that Home Depot stocks knock-offs of name brand products (One instance is the tiles--I had to return them and buy from a tile store).

Made a purchase within the credit card promotional period (24 months 0 interest). The purchase itself was a nightmare with a team of delivery people the nicest you can describe them with, they were rude. The delivery has never been made because of the attitude and rudeness shown by the delivery guys. I refused to be treated any other but a decent customer. The delivery was SCHEDULED for another day. To my surprise, the order got canceled without my knowledge. Then, the nightmare with the credit card.

I was supposed to be granted the 0% APR on my purchase. When I got my statement, it was shown an interest charged to my account. When I called them, they said, "Unfortunately, we can do nothing because the receipt shows a 10% discount to your purchase," which was a BS. Long story short, this company doesn’t care about customers and I learned my lesson. Hopefully, this lesson can be learnt by somebody else and won’t encounter the same nightmare I went thru.

Home Depot was my go-to store for just about everything; unfortunately this is no longer true. After moving into my dream home about a year ago, I’ve made many trips to a home improvement store. I’ve become increasingly unhappy with Home Depot. There was a time when employees were happy to help you find what you needed and answer your questions. At a recent visit, I stopped four different employees, each one either stated, that’s not my department or I this it is on isle and game a number (which was incorrect). Another issue I’ve encountered is the availability of an employee to load items in my vehicle waiting was 20 minutes. Returning an item (with a receipt) is also frustrating when customer service area is not there for customers who don’t want to wait in a line to check out correctly. When the wait is over 30 minutes, and you are the only person making a return it is frustrating.

The last time I was in Home Depot, someone came into the store with a large dog (not a service dog) the dog stopped to pee on the carpet in the store’s entry. The owner did nothing! I talked to an employee at the service desk about the large pee spot (prominent) on the carpet, she shrugged her shoulders and said: ”oh, well.” If Home Depot allows pets of all kinds in their stores, they need to be responsible for cleaning up the messes they make. Small children walked through that wet pee. What happens when they drop a toy? Then put it in their mouth? Unsanitary conditions like this should never occur.

Home Depot is our "go to" for everything from plants (which they have the amazing policy; if the plant dies within a year- they replace it! Let me repeat that, they replace it!!! For a serial plant killer, who tries with all her might to grow plants, this store policy provides for the only plant store we patronize) to anything we need for the house. Recently we had a clogged upstairs shower drain and went to Home Depot for drain cleaner, ran into Shirley who guaranteed us that "Instant Power Hair and Grease" drain cleaner would do the trick, if not, there was a moneyback guarantee. And brother was she right!!! This is the best thing for clogged drains and now I have converts (2 best friends) in another state who have used it too. I recently retired and I do a lot of projects. I end up at Home Depot about every week or so. I got gift cards for Christmas and I recently used up the last of my gift card. I had an item that didn’t work so I returned it and they gave me credit on a store card since the purchase was with a gift card and that’s what I expected. I did some shopping and was trying to make another purchase with the store credit. I had to scan my driver's license and it said I was not authorized to use this credit. I waited and a customer service person came over and she tried the card and said I was not authorized. I explained that I had just gotten the store credit 5 minutes ago and she again said, "Well you’re not authorized." I showed her my receipt and then after 3-4 attempts she was able to get it overridden and complete the purchase. The person at the customer service counter had misspelled my last name so it didn’t match my driver’s license.

Unfortunately, there was .33 cents left on the store credit. I asked if they could just give me the .33 cents and she said, "No, we can’t do that." I walked back down to customer service to see if I could get my .33 cents and if not at least get a new store credit card so I didn’t have the same hassle the next time I came into the store.

I had the same person that helped me the first time and I explained what had happened and she said that she must have went to fast and typed in my last name wrong. I asked for my .33 cents and she said there was no way to do this. I asked her to fix her mistake so next time I come in I don’t have this same issue over .33 cents. She said there was no way she can reissue a new card once store credit is given. I explained that I just don’t want to hassle with this again over .33 cents and I’m sure a supervisor or manager could do this. She was steadfast in telling me no and that no manager could help me either. At this point my patience was up and I told her to keep the card and my .33 cents and I’d start going to Lowe's. I come in here every week, but am happy to go to Lowe's instead. Neither her nor anyone else in the store seemed to care. Home Depot doesn’t care, so I suggest you follow my lead and shop somewhere else.

It was a terrible experience because our old washing machine lasted over 20 years but we have learned that manufactures just do not make things to last anymore.) Anyway, we continued shopping at Home Depot until they seem to run out of items we were looking to buy. IE, we wanted to purchase some brown color banana-light bulbs.

At first, they had plenty of them on the shelves so we purchased a couple of packs but when we went back, they were no where to be found. Often times, my spouse and I are looking for screws and other items to use to fix things in our home but there often seems to be a limited selection. They also have a very limited selection on light-switch covers. When we first started shopping at Home Depot, there always seemed to be a clerk on the floor to assist us but now that seems very rare. However where they could do better is pricepoint on non-home improvement items they carry such as cleaning supplies, where Walmart and Target excel. Sometimes I wonder why they bother to carry the items because their pricing is so non-competitive...unless they think the "business owners and contractors" shopping there don't care about price. Sometimes it's hard to find a associate to help in general...let alone with knowledge about specific items being sought out. Signage could also be better... at the very end of each aisle should be detailed signs for items carried on "both aisles" ...the only way to see this is if you are literally in the center of the store and can look "left and right".

Home Depot has positioned itself well in the market and now cares about the bottom line above all else. They would like you to think that their prices are incredibly competitive but try to price match anything in the store. Mostly denied and it's not a fun experience. Sure, they have programs like the 11% Menards Rebate match but I was promptly denied my rebate of about $50 because I didn't buy "qualifying" items to be matched. Say What?!

Home Depot is still the most convenient home improvement store for many consumers but thankfully that is slowly changing as Menards continues to gain market share. My advice, take your 10% OFF Lowe's coupon to Lowe's... They will honor it, not make you send in phony rebates that they later deny & provide you with better service than Home Depot. Or go to Menards and spend less (sometimes A LOT less).

Home Depot is wonderful! They are so much better than Walmart. I bought many heaters from HD. They were over $30 less than Walmart. They were shipped to me in two days. Walmart would send them to me in eight days. HD gave me a $50 discount for applying for their credit card. Walmart would not give a discount and many other problems with their credit card. I contacted Walmart about many issues. Their CS wanted a link to show what I was talking about. I sent him six links with all of the specifics. I have not heard back from Walmart since then. Walmart knows that I am right, Home Depot is so much better! Also, when I called HD with a question, they were quick, knowledgeable and very nice. I have shopped at Home Depot for years. They are one of the best stores I use. I highly recommend Home Depot.

Home Depot....You are not even close to being competitive with Lowe’s and everybody else. If you don’t have it in the store, I’m going to Lowe’s even if they have to order the product!

I bought 2 5 gal Ready Seal stains for a house I'm working on. I bought them online since the correct color was unavailable in the store (though ready seal was in-store). When they arrived I set them aside until we were ready to seal the siding. A few weeks later I realized one of the stains was the wrong color. No problem I'll go exchange it at the Home Depot since I'll need a few other things anyway.

I get to the returns counter and ask for an exchange. The associate says they don't do that and can only refund my order. I ask if he can just get on Home Depot's website and exchange it from there and re-order the correct one. He says they only do that at pro-services. (I could tell he was new, as another associate was training him.) So he rings up the refund about 10% less than what I paid for assuming it was tax and asks if I want store credit. I say yes assuming it's a simple gift card type credit, though I was given no information as to what exactly store credit entailed.

I get my $170 store credit and go over to pro services. After waiting for the associate to get off the phone I ask if she can order something online for me since they could not do it in returns. She says they can do it in returns. So I go back to returns and the same guy is there. I ask why pro services is telling me you can order online here. He looks at me like he has no idea what to do. The other associate comes over and helps him get online to order it and once I'm ready to pay I hand him the exact store credit he handed me and blind-sided he tells me I can't order anything online with store credit.

Dumb-founded I tell him that was the whole point for me to buy the item I originally wanted to be exchanged for my return. It was like he never heard the conversation I had with him 10 minutes ago. He just tells me he can't do it. I ask for the manager. I don't mean to sound mean, but it was obvious he wanted nothing to do with this. I asked if they can redo the return. My return is literally sitting 10 ft from me. It's not like Home Depot is taking a loss by redoing the whole return. Nope can't do it. I ask if I can buy the wrong stain again and return that one for the correct stain. Nope. The manager didn't give a **. Worst of all after coming up with all these ideas to solve the situation, no other associate or manager attempted any kind of solution to the situation.

After all this, the manager just gave me a blank stare like he was waiting for me to leave after defeating me with their "policies." And I left with my store credit. I will never set foot inside another Home Depot as long as I live, not even to spend my store credit and you can bet I will tell my friends and family about this experience. Lowe's has better prices on some things anyway.

A little over four years ago we purchased a large Samsung French door refrigerator with an ice/water dispenser in the door. We also purchased Home Depot's five year extended warranty for $280. Additional to type purchase price. About a year after our purchase the door handles started coming loose. Called Samsung, they said call Home Depot. Was told sorry, not covered, cosmetic. We took care of it ourselves. About six months later we noticed a crack in the ice bin. Again, we were told sorry, not covered, cosmetic. We had to buy a replacement ourselves. Last week we noticed some bubbling of the paint and obvious rusting around the ice dispenser door. Again, called Home Depot, and lo and behold, SORRY, NOT COVERED, COSMETIC.

My wife and I are retirees in our mid seventies. When buying the warranty, we asked what it covered. The salesman told us "anything not covered by Samsung". Oh, really? What are we supposed to follow? We take pride in what we have taking good care so things will last. We don't have a lot of expendable dollars to replace this major appliance.

After having their representative out who told us nothing could be done, I stopped in to the North Port Home Depot store and was told by the sales lady in the appliance dept. that she steers people away from purchasing Samsung and LG products because of their poor quality and service. Had we known this upfront we would have done further searching for an appliance that we would be satisfied with. And we would never had expended the morning new to purchase their "EXTENDED WARRANTY" which is a waste of money. I have reached out to Home Depot and Samsung with no results. In the past ten years we spent in excess of ten thousand dollars at your stores. I guess I need to shop at one of your competitors in the future, because this has shown me that Home Depot doesn't care about its "Valued" customers. This is from Frank **.

Have purchased many items and appliances from Home Depot. Don't know what has changed but their customer service has dropped to a zero. I purchased, a refrigerator 2 years ago and also an extended warranty. In July of this year my freezer started leaking water all over the floor. Since the factory warranty was expired my call went through Asurion. The repairman came about 2 weeks later and said he had to order a part but did a temporary fix. When he left nothing was working. A month went by and I never heard back from them. I attempted to contact them but a recording answered the phone each time and no one ever came to the phone. Finally, I contacted Home Depot. Com, who was very apologetic. They listened to my concern and told me the repair company would get right back to me. That did not happen.

Bottom line is they never came back to fix it. I spent hours on the phone trying to get someone to address my problem. After going the entire summer with no refrigerator, Asurion finally purchased my appliance back in September. I immediately purchased a new one with my Home Depot Credit. Thought all was good. My delivery was scheduled for the following Thursday. I received a voicemail confirming the day and time window. Also I was sent a link to track my delivery. When they did not show at the time promised I went online to check the tracking. NOW, it read Friday.

When I called the delivery company and asked what happened they said it did not arrive on time to make the delivery on Thursday. I asked why I was not called to advise me of the change. The girl on the phone said she didn't know why. I asked to speak to a supervisor. She was rude and actually said I was never scheduled for Thursday and that it was always a Friday delivery. I told her I still have the voicemail from the previous night confirming Thursday. I then called Home Depot to tell them how unhappy I was with this service and after listening to all the excuses I told her to cancel the, order. She got back to me after cancelling and gave me a voucher number for my refund.

The next day the delivery people came, after I cancelled, I was not home and my 97 year old Mother left them in. In spite of the cancellation they took my old refrigerator and left the new one. Come to find out, the ice maker was not working and the door was not reversed as I stated on my order, and the refrigerator was not getting as cold as it should. I called Home Depot one more time to have it picked up. I told them IF it was working I would have kept it even after all that mess. I was, told that since the order was cancelled they could not come out to fix it.

Finally they picked it up, My refund was used for the cancelled order. I was told I would have to wait about 10 days for my refund, they now have my old refrigerator and the new one and they could not cap off the waterline to the ice maker. It is now October, I wake up every morning to water running over the bucket from the waterline and no refrigerator. Does anyone know of an attorney to take my case. July through October with no working refrigerator. **

We recently moved and needed to replace the 13 year old appliances. Labor Day sales at Home Depot were a large incentive. We researched and purchased a new refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, microwave, washer and dryer from our local store. Home Depot contracts with delivery and installation personnel, in our case, Ralph’s Transport. Ralph’s showed up and promptly removed MOST of the old appliances. The new refrigerator was damaged and not delivered. The “professionals” at Ralph’s we’re unable to remove and install the existing dishwasher and microwave and were unable to install the clothes dryer despite having been paid to do so.

New refrigerator arrives THREE weeks later via Ralph’s, who proceeded to install it incorrectly, damaging the water line and causing flooding in my kitchen. Replacement for the replacement arrives TWO weeks later. Throughout this ordeal, Ralph’s customer service was surly and argumentative and accepted zero responsibility for damages and incompetence. Home Depot was little better although Mindy was able to procure the final fridge replacement without sending Ralph’s out to inspect (another company inspected). I expected much more support from Home Depot, I got so much less.

Then next week they missed my appointment again because they called the wrong number. I called a FIFTH time to update my phone number and no "supposedly" they are coming AGAIN this week. I don't believe anything is updated.

Also, I have new flooring and paint and was "reassured" they wore booties and put plastic on floors. They don't. They wheel dirty dollies in/out all over, use the bathroom, ask for drinks (and also select what type of drink they want out your fridge). Also I was starting a new job and had to rearrange it. Arrange it around THEIR time even though had they updated my number when I called. My new appliances would have been delivered in a timely manner BEFORE my job and BEFORE I got new paint/floors installed and BEFORE the movers came with all of my property. So hearing this I believed the water heater to be the problem. It was a 40 gal 220v electric heater. So Home Depot subcontracts through Delta Plumbing which came a couple days later. The “plumber” removed and replaced the water heater and then went on to tell my sister that the water heater was not bad because it had hot water in it and the problem is you have a busted pipe somewhere. Which turned out to be five feet away behind a sink. I got a plumber to fix the leaks, one of which was under cement slab and the original one behind the sink which was the source of the leak on the floor which cost me $3100. By another plumber.

So why did the Home Depot contracted plumber remove my water heater if you can tell the problem was a water leak elsewhere and there was hot water in my unit? Just so they can continue with the job for $1160. Shady business!!! They should have told me what the problem was and just charged me a service charge and not remove my water heater. I would never let them contract for any home repair at any of my homes again. Then their customer service department said they would look into it and a few days later I get nothing back from them after several call having to explain it over and over. Ripped Off!!!

It was a Sunday so we had to pay $100, but we wanted it done and agreed. We told the sales person some of the things that were important to us (brass valves) and she pointed out a model and ordered it. We were told the water heater installer would come between 2 and 4 p.m. and he would provide the brass valves we needed. At 5:30 (and after two phone calls) the installer showed up. When we noticed the valves were not brass, he said he could replace it for $60 more. We agreed. Part way through the process we reminded him again about the valve and he said he would not do it because it would void the warranty (not sure why he didn't say that the first time). We called Home Depot and they said to call Delta the plumbing installer in the morning and talk to customer service.

We called both Delta and Home Depot. Two days later and no call from Delta. Home Depot called back to see if Delta called us back and we said no. Bottom line is we did not get what we wanted. We are not hot water experts and relied on the expertise of our sales associate. If she didn't know what she was doing she should have directed us to someone else. The whole experience was terrible. Try to purchase a water heater priced between $400 and $500. Found the product I wanted and the salesperson said it could be installed next day. I asked how much the installation would be and told me the installer will tell me. To my surprise a person showed up and look at the place for over 30 minutes....writing and writing in a piece of paper. The old water heater was in a VERY accessible place in the garage and he didn’t have to build anything, maybe a new hose. When he gave me the estimate I almost had a heart attack, the estimate was between $2,000.00 and $3,000.00 and that is because he was giving us a discount. Is this what installing a water heater installation cost. Are you kidding me.

Do not trust Home Depot. They do not care about you. Management does not care about you.

The Manager on duty today at 4:14PM Worcester MA should be fired. I tried all day to get to talk to anyone there, they NEVER answer the phone and if they do they transfer you and then no one picks up and obviously this is allowed behavior. I finally was able to leave my name and number for a manager to call me at 1:26, and I was assured a manager would call me 'promptly'. By 4pm still no one called me and they knew exactly how upset I was. The manager called me at 4:14pm but only after I called Corporate to complain and she was mad at me at the first word, yelling and talking over me, again she should be fired. The installer insisted that code required a pan be installed under the heater, on a concrete floor next to the drain on a sloping floor resulting in the job costing an additional close to $200 for a pan that cost $18.18 at Lowe's. When the county building inspector came to inspect, I asked if that was necessary and he said no.

Anyways, Home Depot kept discounting that item until the third time around, they gave me in store credit so I could piece it together myself. However, it is customer service, and so problems are inherently bound to come up, but I kept at it and Home Depot customer service took care of the issue. This place is a scam. They advise you to check for product availability online before visiting a local store. They want you to pay full price, but you are being overcharged because the store has decided to manipulate pricing into their favor by charging more than the advertised price per square foot. You contact Home Depot customer resolutions without any resolution being given. You are told “Although pricing online says this will be the price at the store, the store may increase the price if they desire. It’s determined by products readily available and those that must be ordered.”

The fact is, all products are ordered from a manufacturer and sold at Home Depot so what products does Home Depot make? To be told that pricing for an appliance and store may match, but pricing for flooring or any other products marketed online and by Home Depot advertisements do not have to be honored if there is a discrepancy is misrepresentation. When asked to speak with someone you’re told customer service does not allow you to speak with anyone else. They give a false sense of empathy, but they truly wish to offer no resolution or valid answer. Just make a wise consumer decision and do business with Lowe’s. They don’t use “bait and switch” tactics to lure customers.

Well, I just got the new bill this past week. The $100 balance is still on the microwave, and they took the $100 off the dishwasher. Next there was over $17 in interest. Our order got rescheduled without our notice not once, but on two separate occasions, causing us to have to reschedule both delivery days and installation days, since they do not perform their own installs. If you work, this results in 4 lost days. And the store does not know anything about what is happening, as they tell us the supplier does not communicate with them either.

Today, I went in to track our order, and what do you know, it was not only rescheduled from this Thursday, August 22, 2019, but was postponed until November 15, 2019! And 1 of the 6 appliances we bought and paid for is no longer even available. Again, nobody informed us of this change so, if I hadn't gone in to track the order, we would have been waiting for a delivery that would never come.

We were left with no choice than to cancel the order which Home Depot had no problem doing. They apologized, but that doesn't help with the fact that we wasted 4 months on a delivery that was to take another 3 to occur, with one of the matching appliances not available. Now we are back to square 1. Please avoid your temptation to go with Home Depot to purchase appliances. It is not worth the aggravation as they were unable to perform.

I was having some trouble getting an order placed online and elected to "Live Chat" with a representative. Alise **, the customer service rep I worked with today, was top notch and the support was above anything I've received from anywhere else recently. Good customer service is a dying art form, but I am happy that the staff at the Home Depot have not lost this skill.
