Never buy GE! We had this washing machine for 4 months before it exploded! There was water dripping from the ceiling, the washer was in the middle of our laundry room. This was on October 26, 2025. Today is February 25, 2026. We are still fighting with GE to replace the washing machine. They sent out a technician that said it couldn’t be repaired. GE sent a replacement washer, this washer was all dented up and had paint chips in it. Why would I accept a replacement washer that was already damaged? I purchased the original washer in June of 2025, used it for 4 months, and now do not have a washer, and have been without one for 4 months. Someone at GE needs to make this make sense! Do better GE customer support!

Smart Front Load Energy Start Washer was purchased less that 4 years ago. Since then I have had problems with the app that never worked as salesperson from Appliance Alliance in Phonenixvill said it would. Secondly, the spin cycle does not work properly. Clothes lay flat at bottom of wash cyclinder leaving more drying time. I have never saw this before and was told by the supervisor that the machine is 4 years old. My old washer (Maytag) was over 20 year and it spun clothes at 100%. GE washer are made cheeply and breakdown quickly and their spin cycle is weak.
I've called GE several time complaining and explaining the issue over and over only to be told that I would have to pay a labor and parts fee. They do no stand behind their product. I've talked with five different people and only one was professional and tried to get me help. It did not work. The supervisor I spoke with talked over me and would not let me get a word in edgewise. I will never again buy any GE product.

My GE front loader machine is 2-3 years old. Two circuit boards failed costing $280 in parts. (But doesn't GE have a 10 year Warranty? Yes, on the motor only and no labor, I'm told. Everything else is out-of-pocket.) The app was extremely difficult to set up the first time, but does allow you to schedule a service call with Bodewell who has "stocked trucks with OEM parts". No mention of the $125 house call charge that you've blindly committed to... I expected one, but they don't tell you how much it will be prior to showing up, and by that point you're committed to paying (small print I haven't seen, but am told exists).
Bodewell contracted out the call to another provider who never let me know he was coming, and showed up 4 hours late for the appointment. The technician gave me a "discount on the labor"... So he charged me $125 to pull the front access cover off, hook up his device, and read the codes, all in 10 minutes. I thought the house-call usually covers minor maintenance. When this is done, where are the parts?... He'll be back in a couple days. DO NOT BUY GE!

We bought a GE washer machine in May 2023 and we bought into the 10 year warranty. The machine recently gave an error message about the door and would not start the wash. We called into GE and a technician said he was coming to fix the machine in 2 weeks. We clearly stated the error and they knew the model. When the technician came he spent about 5 minutes on the laptop and then told us that the machine needed a new Motherboard and he did not have the part in his care. He said that if we paid he will order the part and return in a week. Labor was $119 and part $410. A new Machine $768. GE indicated that the 10 year warranty only covers the motor but not the motherboard. I am very disappointed with GE. Do not be fooled by the warranty. The door lock mechanism has a fault.

Over the past two years, I have experienced recurring issues with my GE washer. Initially, the appliance produced excessive noise without agitating the water. A GE repair technician replaced the motor, but the problem persisted. After several months, the washer only filled to a certain level, necessitating the use of buckets of water to achieve proper washing. The repair technician attributed this to the washer’s energy efficiency.
Within the first year, GE dispatched three repair technicians to address the issues, but they were unsuccessful in resolving the problem. After two years, the washer continues to spin without draining properly, resulting in wet clothes. The cycle repeats, requiring a third wash due to the washer’s inability to spin and drain effectively. After the warranty expired, customer service demanded that I cover the cost of the fourth repair, which was an exorbitant price for a simple reassessment.
GE’s washer has proven to be unreliable, experiencing malfunctions within a year. One cycle can take up to two hours, significantly impacting my daily routine. The washer was purchased with my new house, and Lennar’s builder made a poor investment by purchasing a cheaply made product that has proven to be a disappointment. I strongly advise against purchasing GE products and will not recommend them to others.

We purchased a brand new front loader in 2023 and it has been faithful in one area and that’s breaking down. So far it breaks down about every couple months. They repair it and it breaks down. I will never touch a GE ever again!!! I advise anyone who reads this never to buy any GE products.

I have had this machine for about a year, and conclude it will not properly wring out small carpets, nor a cotton blanket (full/queen) size. There is a serious load imbalance problem with this machine, and it will jump all over the place, and far from where the machine was originally positioned. What's worse, you can't run just spin to get the water out of the fabric and the machine will complete its cycle instead of letting you continue where it left off in the middle of the spin. Don't buy this machine, and buy a Speed Queen instead.

I purchased a GE Profile front load washer October 20, 2024 and on January 5, 2026 (just a little over a year), it stopped spinning and draining. Instead of spinning, it makes a grinding sound and does not drain. I called GE and the very rude representative said she could not help due to no warranty. The 10 year limited warranty doesn't cover anything. I hired a certified GE repairman and the estimate to repair the drain mechanism and shocks would be $963! I took the GE name by their previous reputation and did not research before purchasing- big mistake! Will never purchase another GE product!

I’ve had my washer for a maybe 2 years. Washer has broken down TWICE! First of all, I replaced the motor the first time with a step to step video because their “10 year warranty” doesn’t actually cover anything. Best Buy warranty doesn’t cover anything. Washer flooded the house because I opened it to take the load out since it stopped working. Literally cannot get anyone to help. Wasted money on this product. Don’t get a GE. This is my 3rd one and each time it’s broken down. Literally such a scam.

The main control board in my GE washer (model GFW510SCNWW) failed after just three years of normal residential use, which is far shorter than reasonable for a major appliance. As it is out of 1-year warranty, I contacted GE customer service and was explicitly offered a $100 goodwill credit due to the premature failure. However, when I later attempted to claim that credit, GE refused to issue it—despite it having already been approved. This reversal was frustrating and felt misleading. The issue is not just the product’s reliability, but the company’s unwillingness to honor what it promised. I expect better durability and accountability from a brand like GE. Unfortunately, this experience has significantly reduced my confidence in GE appliances and their customer support.

Expensive Washer broke down in 3.5 years. And I took care of this machine. Called CS and it's out of the 10 year warranty. ??? It will cost $114 for a person to come out to tell me it's broke. I replaced the pump myself but the control board and inverter are bad. $$$ Not worth fixing. It's a shame because it is pristine. On a good note the microban seal works well. The ventilation system is a joke. I still have to remove the detergent tray to dump the water out and leave the door ajar to air out. ??? So if this is "planned obsolesces" kudos to you GE engineers! You got one thing right. I have know idea what to replace it with. I think GE owes me a machine. I'm 70. This was going to be my last washing machine.

I bought a GE Top Load Washer (Model GTW845CSN0WS) about 5 years ago. I've always had a terrible problem the washer going off balance. The washer has literally rocked itself a foot forward from it's normal placement (and it's on a thick Berber rug). That's how off balance it can get. Now, however, I started to find bits of dirt left over in the bottom of the washer after washing a load as well as on the clothes. After a Google search, I found that there can be a build up of gunk within the agitator and under the plate the agitator sits on - ugh!
We took the offending parts off and I could have just died when I saw what was under there. The debris/gunk... was coating everything and up to a 1/2 inch thick in places. It was gross to clean, but we did it, put it back together and are praying all will be well for a bit. I did see a video showing the same sludge on the outside of tub (in between the tub and the washer frame). We didn't go that far. One of the videos showed the problem happening in many common brands of washers, so not just GE. I'm on the hunt for a better brand.

My 4th GE Washer in 50 yrs, NEVER an issue. Purchased Model GTW485ASW0WB - Serial VA146088G, 11/24/25 at Best Buy, installation great. WORST!!! LOUDEST!!!! WASHER. Like having a jet engine in the laundry room or a semi trailer truck grinding against concrete wall in the wash cycle. AWFUL. I HATE IT! WHY DESIGN IT TO SQUIRT WATER TWICE INTO THE WASHER FOLLOWED BY A 10 SECOND PAUSE, WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THAT?
Will never purchase another GE product. Wish I had returned, but a medical emergency came up and time to return expired. AWFUL PRODUCT. I bet whoever designed it does not have one in their home. They must know it is loud and annoying, as the manual says to listen to videos if it sounds different than my old one. Of course it is different. It is loud and grinding. Does GE not test how their products sound! Quality control on sound apparently not done. Worst purchase ever. GE should do better.

I bought a house 4 years ago with a GE top loader washer (GO10). Worst GE product I have ever had and unacceptable for the problems which are obvious immediately upon one use. Sheets (queen) become a mushroom on top and trap all items underneath and then also sometimes unbalance. Called GE and lady said to add one sheet one side and other sheet other side. Didn't prevent mushroom from forming. Water level either Too Low or Deep Fill (ridiculously too high - can't use this setting). Nothing in between. I end up adding 4 x 64 oz just to bring water up to almost cover the clothes. These 2 problems are BIG!! and obvious; how could this model be sent out to customers?

Avoid this washer at all costs. We purchased the GE front-load washer (Model: GFW850SPN5RS) in November 2023, and it has been nothing but a nightmare. Within months, the door locked and wouldn’t open, requiring multiple calls before a technician was dispatched. The main control board was defective and had to be replaced—a process that took 6–8 weeks, involved 4–5 technician visits, additional parts orders, and constant follow-ups. Even after that, the washer never worked reliably. Every few months, it would fail again, forcing us to unplug and reset it just to run a cycle—an unacceptable workaround for a major appliance.
Now, less than two years after purchase, the washer shuts down mid-cycle within minutes, leaving clothes soaking in water. It’s been two weeks without resolution, and GE claims it’s out of warranty—even though these failures clearly stem from an ongoing defect that began shortly after purchase. This product has caused repeated service calls, extended downtime, and endless frustration. GE’s refusal to provide a permanent fix or stand behind a defective product is shocking. Do not buy this washer. If you value reliability and customer support, look elsewhere.

I purchased a GE washer & dryer in May of 2021. Approximately two weeks ago the agitator stopped working in my washer. After numerous attempts to get it repaired, no success. The screw in the bottom of the agitator rusted & when the tech attempted to unscrew the bolt it broke off. And it was a 50/50 chance it could be repaired. Who makes a product that don’t last more than 5 years??? I called GE & they offered no solutions to this problem! I thought I was purchasing a reliable washer. Never again!!!

My washer broke down on October 11. I called GE, was transferred to their warranty partner (Appliance), and scheduled a service appointment. When the technician finally came, he looked at the washer, told me I needed a replacement part, and said he’d be back in two weeks. The part arrived. He never showed up—twice. I called again and made another appointment in November. The same technician came out, then suddenly claimed I didn’t have insurance and refused to fix anything. I told him multiple times that I did, but he got irritated and left my house. I called the company again, explained everything, and made yet another appointment for late November. They said I’d get a text the day before. I never got a text, and they never showed. When I called, they acted like the appointment never existed. So I made another one for December 8.
The technician came, went to look at the washer and the part we’d been waiting on for months, then said he needed to make a phone call. He sat outside for 30 minutes, came back in, and told me he “didn’t feel safe” and was leaving. At this point, I’m disgusted with how this company has handled everything. I have four kids—two teens and two babies. Laundry piles up fast, and here we are on December 9 with no working washer, no accountability, and no resolution. I’ve called, I’ve complained, and absolutely nothing has been done. I’m beyond frustrated and completely over this entire process.

We bought our GE Profile Washer on July 12, 2025. It has consistently done a poor job washing our clothes, blankets, mattress covers, etc. Even on the BULKY cycle and DEEP FILL, the machine gets off balance. My Drain/Spin cycle wouldn't operate correctly (did a complete rinse and sometimes started at the beginning of the cycle). This is a real LEMON and I just want it gone!! Even the repairman who was here today said to download the SmartHQ app, which I did. Then headquarters would run a remote diagnostic test. I can't get any help from HQ either!

I bought a GE top load washer about 5 years ago which has been steadily been getting noisier in the last 2 years. When it agitates it make a terrible grinding sound. I followed all the recommendations from cleaning and so on but it just gets louder in time. I also tried to Google repairs for this problem but in most cases it talks about replacing the transmission. That seems to be a common problem with these machines. That means after 3 years from new the transmission starts to fail. As far as I'm concerned this should've been recalled for bad design. You pay about a thousand dollars for a machine that doesn't last is criminal and should be challenged legally with a class action lawsuit! I will never buy GE appliances again!!

We purchased a top loading GE washing machine about a month ago, & it is a nightmare! The first one they delivered was defective, so they sent a second machine, which is just as bad. It's impossible to wash sheets or towels in this machine, as it constantly becomes unbalanced, There is no way to "unbalance" the load during the cycle, nor to repeat a spin cycle when the load stops & is still soaking wet & not spun out. DO NOT BUY A GE washer, it's a terrible product, with worse service. (It's also very noisy.)

I received a new washing machine from GE in April. It consistently has not worked. It moves or walks during the spin cycle and shuts off so I am left with soaking wet laundry. They have come multiple times and refuse to replace the machine that is obviously a lemon. The last time they came they told me I could only use one of the many cycles I paid for and to use deep fill each time even if it was a small load thereby wasting water as well. I have video of the problem. Every time I have to take off work for half a day for it not to be fixed properly or replaced. Currently I am on hold with the department who can authorize a replacement. I am at 30 minutes so far. We will see… They are telling me my warranty only covers repairs. IT WAS A BROKEN MACHINE FROM THE BEGINNING!

Do not waste your money on GE front loader washer! Less than 5 years old and had repairman out 4xs. Nothing but problems. First it was the drain pump. Then it was the circuit board twice. Also due to lack of repair servicemen, you have to wait a week for them to come out to access the problem, and wait again for part and repair. I would understand if I cheaped out and got an inexpensive brand but GE front loader is pricey!

Purchased GE model# GTW335ASNWW in 2023, as a replacement for our Samsung washer that was unrepairable. In the past month, it has stopped spinning out the water after cycles so I contacted Lowe’s because I had an extended warranty. It took 3 weeks from the time I placed the request for repair to it actually being fixed. The washer needed a new sensor, motor and belt.
The same day it was fixed, more problems arose. Now the machine is always off balance no matter how small or large a load. The locking mechanism is hit or miss too. Sent in another repair request and the technician came out again but says there is nothing wrong with it. All it needed was a module “update”. This is not a wi-fi machine, so what needed updating? The machine isn’t working as it should and shouldn’t be having all these issues after only two years of usage. Save yourself time, a headache and avoid this machine.
