I used to have ADT but they kept raising my prices every year and it got to a point where it was ridiculous. After researching for a good company, I went with Frontpoint. Their people are really knowledgeable and helpful. The installation wasn't really that complicated but I had some issues and their tech guy walked me step-by-step as to how he fixed the issue. In the initial installation, I received all the packages and packets. I took everything out and placed everything in the places where the old system was. My motion detector was about eight feet high, and everything else had door sensors and window sensors. According to the technician, my motion detectors were too high so I ended up lowering them down. And my doors were not totally lining up with the magnet. They helped me by sending the extra thick tapes to push out the magnet.

I like the features in my system and I’m thinking about ordering a video cam. Moreover, I want to install those remote control locks when I replace the front door and the back door. I've used the smartphone features and it's similar to the old system so it didn’t take long to get used to it. The system is easy and very simple to use. It's also very convenient. In fact, the phone part of it is better. The other one will take a couple of tries to go to the computer. The phone is fast and as soon as I hit "Arm", it arms it right away. I’m happy with my system and I will definitely recommend Frontpoint.

We noticed that one of the projects next to another one of our construction site projects was using Frontpoint. We called and it seemed relatively easy. They advertised simplicity, and it was easy to set up which was the main thing that I was looking for when we signed up for it. Everything was Wi-Fi-enabled and it literally summed down to a science from opening the box. I followed the instructions and we did pretty well. It’s been great so far and it all met our expectations. They were very responsive. We had a false alarm trip a couple of days ago, and we got a call immediately so that was very nice. And anytime I felt like I needed to call Frontpoint for something, everybody helped me out.

We have entry sensors and a couple cameras. The sensors are relatively small and look nice, which is one thing that’s not exactly commonplace in security systems. We work with architects, and the one thing that they always wanted is minimal reveal of stuff, so they were happy when they saw the site set up with the barely visible sensors. We also purchased a garage door sensor, but we haven't used that yet 'cause there's no garage door yet. The sensors are great but the cameras are a little bit buggy. But given the price point that they are, we expected it. The buffer time takes a little bit longer than one would like, but again, they were relatively cheap cameras. Otherwise, everything looks relatively fine. It was priced a little over $1,000 for a year and it seems fair. Overall, the system works and we got what we paid for.

Having a home security system seemed like a good idea and my company has an arrangement with Frontpoint for discounts so I went with them. I’ve got ADT in another house and Frontpoint quality seems to be the same. Initially, their representatives called and set up the system. They went over the different options and what it would cost me. I had a good interaction with their reps. During the installation, I had a question about how the sensors were aligned with the magnets that are on the doors and they answered that. I’d like the ability to tie-in an exterior building with a Wi-Fi line but overall, Frontpoint’s functionality and performance are extremely good.

Frontpoint seemed to be the best in home security system for a budget. I signed up with them and when I installed the equipment, it wasn't difficult. But the initial instructions weren't clear so I made a mistake. I called customer service and they were informative and professional. It made sense to me when they explained it, but I would suggest for them to note the common pitfalls that customers have had in the past and make sure to include how to address them in the instructions so the installation would go properly.

The smartphone feature was a good option and I used it to arm and disarm the system. But it was only a free trial and to get that, there would be a 10-dollar per month charge. It should be included in this day and age where everything is going through the mobile app. Other than that, the quality of the equipment is pretty good and having the security system gave me a reassurance that I'm not going to get robbed or have anyone breaking into my house.

We bought a motel and we wanted to have something so that when my husband wasn’t there, we knew it was safe. Frontpoint's reps have all been fabulous. They helped my husband set everything up. I forgot the code the very first time I went home and it screamed at me. Everybody was very polite while I was screaming at them that I couldn’t remember the code. I ended up having to call my daughter to get the code from her. I definitely feel more secure especially when I’m not home because I travel between the house and the motel on the weekend, so I’m leaving the house unattended. We’re very happy overall and it’s money well spent.

I used to install for another company but after researching, I wanted to go with Frontpoint. Having worked in the service before, I knew how frequently reschedules or second installations could happen with the job not being done properly the first time. So the key thing was self-installation, being able to get my hands on the equipment, and learning how to use it and do it from the getgo. Plus, the setup was really easy and the boxes with the instructions were awesome.

Their sales reps were great. They made me aware of different tiers of sales promotions that were occurring which allowed me to upgrade my equipment at the time. I wasn't originally considering cameras, just the basic security system, but they let me know the difference in pay as far as the monthly rate, which wasn't significant, and how their promotions for the cameras at the time would help me save in the end, depending on the amount that I spend. Those were very helpful and inciteful. Also, everybody's got the different specials and features going on, but all across the board, Frontpoint's price is fair for what we're getting. And I like that I was able to purchase the equipment outright from the beginning so that if I decide to discontinue monitoring in the future, I still own the equipment.

We have two young ones and even though we have family sitting, if my wife wanted to see how the kids were doing, we use the system's smartphone features so she could watch them. Being able to talk to the children through the microphone function is also great. And one time, when I was downstairs in the playroom with my child and my wife got a phone call from someone delivering a package, I didn't hear the doorbell. So, she contacted me through the camera to let me know to go upstairs. That was cool.

We closed in this home this past Fall and getting into a new house meant hearing all its new creeks and the whistles. Then we have a dog who may be barking for a purpose or for no reason whatsoever. So, my wife was really concerned every night about our security. Getting the Frontpoint system really helped. It brought her a peace of mind that she could walk away from the house and not have to look back over her shoulder.

I used some other provider previously and after I checked its expiry, I started googling trying to find out a different kind. I wanted to try someone different, and Frontpoint is better than the previous one I had. It was easy to install and I never paid any money for the installation. The instructions were clear and I did it myself. After installing the sensor, I didn’t notice that there was no light and I thought it was not working. I removed it and installed it again and checked the battery. And when I installed it, I realized that the light was working. I was confused.

I had to call customer service to check with them why that happened because I'm still using the wired sensors, and I got a good support from them. The features in the system are very good. Most of the time somebody’s at home so I didn’t want to go for the more expensive system and I selected the basic one. I used the app for 30 days and it was very nice. I’m comfortable since having Frontpoint installed and I would recommend them. Frontpoint is very good. It’s available in the market but it’s a little expensive.

The house I bought didn’t have a security system. I bought a camera, door sensors and motion sensors from Frontpoint. The system is wireless. I was given good instructions for installation and it was easy. They also have basic smartphone features that I use every day. The equipment serves its purpose and, for the money, it’s good value. It's functional. It's not very techie though. It’d be nice to have audio too. I also keep getting this panel phone line failure, which is annoying, and Frontpoint was not able to fix it. Every time they take it off, it keeps showing back up. They said it had to do with the phone line, but the phone line is not applicable anymore. So it's some defect on their design.

In the past I was using ADT but I had a bad customer service experience with them. They told me one price and then the technician came out and it was something completely different and then they were a big mess. I didn’t even get their service installed. Then I went online and started Googling and rating the different security systems that were out there. Frontpoint was highly rated so my husband and I decided to give them a try and see what happened. Also it seemed I had more flexibility with them. You don’t have to wait for somebody to come and install anything. You can install the system yourself and if you are to move, you take it right with you. When we first got the product we had the little stickers for the window, the sign for the yard, and everything was just there. We didn’t have to call and ask about anything.

If you need help it's online or you can call the number for assistance. When we got the system my husband and I took everything out the box. We read the instructions and we downloaded the apps on our phone. The keypad was already programmed when they sent it out so that was really convenient. It was really quick and simple. When I call their number they're really helpful. They ask about the windows, the doors and all that stuff so they can give me an estimate of how many sensors I needed if there were kids, what exactly I was trying to do, and they explained some of the other products they had. Recently the keypad stopped working so I called them. I tried to plug it up in a different plug and it still didn’t work, just to make sure it wasn’t the socket itself. They're really friendly and they processed the replacement order.

They came the next day and I sent the other keypad back. When I got the replacement I called them and gave them the serial number so they could transfer the information from the old keypad and set it up. It was really straightforward. They were nice, polite and didn’t waste our time. They answered our questions and they didn’t try to sell you anything you didn’t want. I love the features of the system. When the door is opened or hasn’t been closed and is left opened or anything like that, the alarm goes off. We get text messages and emails. If the alarm goes off or if I turn it off before I come in or go out it's instant.

Right now, everybody is using the same number to enter and disable the alarm system. But I was talking to a representative when we were talking about the replacement keypad and they explained to me how everything can have their own custom number so then you'll know who exactly is coming in and out and that was really cool. Within the next year when we purchase a home I'll probably look into the other features they have. For now the basic package fits my needs. The system's cost is really reasonable for what we're getting and I'm really impressed. Frontpoint has a very awesome customer service and great product. I would tell friends to get it. They'll be impressed, safe, and secure. It's well worth it.

We had ADT in our other house and then we moved to another house and it didn’t have an alarm system. I looked for a home security that has remote access with the cell phone as well as considered the price. So, I've been with Frontpoint since October. All my interactions with their salespeople and technical people have been excellent. Everything went really smoothly, like getting the system set up. It was just all peel and stick things. It was a little tricky to get mounted on the doors because we have the molding and stuff to get the two things to work but it was good. It took no more than two hours to do everything.

Also, I have a special situation where I have a remote garage that I needed a motion detector in. They were able to set up the control so that, in the stay mode, the garage is activated. So not only is it covered in the away mode, it's also covered in the stay mode, which was nice. I had a few little technical questions I called about and it worked really easy.

My security system has basic features, which are fine. Until now, everything’s still stuck up on the wall and I'm glad for that. The smartphone features will be handy but I wish there was a panic feature on it. Also, I didn't pay attention to the fine print and the plan started out as $35, which included remote access. Then the remote access went away after 30 days and it's $10 more when I had to sign back up. Now I'm paying this as much as I would have with an ADT system. I don’t feel it's any better, but it's nice that it's a wireless system. But ADT would have a wireless system too.

Frontpoint seemed to be well-reviewed online and for the most part, I chose to buy a home security system to monitor my home when I'm not there. I also liked the ease in which I am able to set up, monitor and maintain the system. I can set up the apparatus myself and I don’t have to rely on a serviceman to come out. Frontpoint’s system is good and the app that comes with it makes it easy as I can manage everything through my phone and also pull up a live video on the phone. The way it's structured is if you use any of the cameras and they're triggered, it'll automatically capture and predetermine the time following the event and store it up in the cloud. It's all remote and there’s no closed circuit.

The representatives of Frontpoint were straightforward. I’ve only had three interactions and they were helpful and knowledgeable from my experience. They handled my situations well. The installation was easy and straightforward. They sent the package I purchased in a big box and it had all the sensors, cameras, the main panel, key fob or whatever equipment is chosen. The installation steps were all clearly detailed in an understandable way. I logged in and it gave a step by step instructions for a given piece of equipment that I was setting up. Although the only caveat for older adults who aren’t as technologically-raised that it may be more difficult and confusing for them to set up some of the stuff.

My package was customized in the sense that I just ordered however many sensors that I needed depends on the floor plan. I got sensors on the front and back door and I can customize it however I want. My home security is pretty complete. Everything has worked as advertised. In addition, the cost of the system commensurates its cost. It could be perceived as a little steep in the frontend but that is to acquire the equipment. But the month-to-month seems competitive with some of the alternative options. The top tier brands have all the interactive accessibilities and like their app may be under some of the other plans.

Since having Frontpoint, no one broke in before and no one is breaking in now. If I never end up using it, then that’s not a bad thing. I'm happy with the system’s features and it’s all great and pretty intuitive. They're good and the cameras are good quality. The system picks up audio and got night vision. I also discovered I can speak through the cameras. It's a two-way and there's a speaker underneath it if I need to be speaking to anyone. All the equipment is good. I can use one button to disarm or arm the system. I can also do the same thing with my phone. If a friend is in the market, they should take a look and consider Frontpoint.

I live in a remote area and there’s not a lot of people on my street so I wanted to have a home security system. My daughter also has Frontpoint and I’ve been using it. When I go to her house I have it on my phone. I actually ordered a system from Simplisafe before going to Frontpoint because someone else recommended it but when I got it, their window monitors didn’t fit on my windows so I returned it and I went with the system I was familiar with. I’ve had lots of interactions with the Frontpoint team. I’ve had to call in to get confirmation on how to operate certain aspects of the system and I ordered extra supplies with some window labels, and I was sent the wrong ones twice. For buying large, all the interactions have been positive and people have been friendly.

Everything was handled well, except when they sent the wrong labels. I bought some of the keychain remotes but I’m not going to use them because I’m not comfortable with them. It would be easier to use that other than my phone but I can’t see if it’s armed or disarmed when I use it, and I don’t like that. I gave one of them to my daughter.

The installation was relatively easy and I had to call up with a couple of questions. The one thing that didn’t go particularly well was, I have some motion sensors in some of the rooms and I stuck them on the wall, then when I called in about something they pointed out that deep inside the website, it says that they should be much lower but I had them relatively high on the wall. But I didn’t move them so they are where they are and I know they work. Frontpoint has a lot of cameras and glass breaking stuff and doorbells and both indoor and outdoor cameras. There are a lot of stuff that I don’t have, but what I have is relatively basic on my sliding glass doors, my other main doors and motion sensors. I first did the general package and then when I got into it, I realized I needed more stuff so I went a la carte with the second order.

The overall quality of the equipment is great. I use it for sure if I am going away for an extended period of time. It’s easy and I really like using it with my phone on the app because it’s clear that it’s armed or disarmed. The smartphone features are simple and it’s simple to switch between my house and my daughter’s house. The cost is fine but I’d prefer if the monthly charges were a little less because they’re more than what the Simplisafe one was going to be. Other than that, my experience has been good and I’ve recommended Frontpoint to a couple of people.

I had some intruders break into my house so I decided to get a home security system. I then got motion sensors that go into the doors and break-in windows from Frontpoint. No one came to install our system though and it was very difficult. The instructions were included and there was a telephone number that says to call before installation. We called that and we went over the steps in the phone. That was my main concern. I was about to quit the system because I was like, "I'm not an expert," and it did not work like it was supposed to. I would love to have the cameras but I didn't purchase them yet because I have to install it myself. I don’t feel secure. I might install it the wrong way.

When I got the system by mail it was three days after the burglary I had at home so I was kind of desperate. That's why I didn’t intend to buy because I didn’t want to go through another company, do an estimate, find out more about which one is better so I was like, "You know what, I'm just going to install this." For example, they told me that they don’t have a technician to come and install the light. We have to do it ourselves. I still think I don’t have it installed the right way. Then the last person I talk to about wasn't good. I was calling because one of the motion sensors, you could be in front of it and the light would not go off. I spoke to the person for seven minutes and we went over the reprogramming to reinstallation to make sure that the sensor wasn't having a problem and that it was working fine. However, I didn't feel satisfied because she was kind of in a rush so she had to hang up.

We considered getting a home security system for years because we got some work in our backyard and we have a tendency to go on vacation every now and then. I talked to a couple of friends that already had services and I did a little bit of research. I saw good reviews on Frontpoint, talked to my wife about it, and we decided to go with them. I talked to their rep and informed them that I was not going to put anything on until after the holidays were completely done. They said it was fine and they would give us an extra free month. My wife was expecting it to be an additional on our monthly fee and we appreciated that.

So, we signed up for the service in December but the system was not installed until the second of January. I set up the cameras and the door sensors, and I found it a pretty good deal. The installation was straightforward and easy to do. I was also able to get a hold of somebody through customer service when I had any concerns on how to install the equipment and they walked me through the procedures. My wife and I really like the doorbell camera. It advises us when somebody's approaching the house. Right now, we don't arm the system at all times. We have with us my mother-in-law who's going through Alzheimer's and we have somebody living with us who's at the house all day. But the system is there when we need to arm it and we know it’d work.

One of the things that I liked a lot about Frontpoint was the representative that I dealt with. I want that my home is secure when I'm not there and he saved me money basically when he could have just told me that they will sell me the cameras and everything. Instead, he said that I can go and buy cameras, that I can get the cheap ones at Best Buy, put those up and monitor the exterior and interior, or whatever I'm trying to watch at my home. He added that I can do it myself and it will save me a lot of money. When he told me that, without me asking him about it, I appreciated his honesty. And I like his company because he was being straight with me.

When I installed the Frontpoint system, all of the material was sent to me. I set everything up by the directions that came with all of the equipment so that was a no-brainer. Then I contacted them to activate everything and test each sensor. That went smoothly. The customer service representative was very polite and professional. So far, I have no complaints. The Frontpoint security equipment is simple and I like that. It doesn’t need to be too complicated. Though, I will still see how long the sensors last before I have to get new ones.

Moreover, they have contacted me a couple of times for false alarms, but they were on top of it, and their response time was okay. The most recent one would be about three weeks ago, their department notified me that there was a breach taking place at my house. Then I told them to have the police go out there and they did. They contacted me and said the police got there and they didn't see anybody breaking in. They made the determination that there was nothing going on so the sensors might have malfunctioned. However, it was okay with me.

Overall, I'm not regretting my decision to go with Frontpoint. I'm pleased with them and will recommend them. And if someone would ask me about Frontpoint, I would tell that it's just another form of insurance that can help. If somebody's going to break into their house, they might want them to get caught too. Their system is going to get the police notified so it gives you a little peace of mind. Thus, I'll probably continue after my three-year contract ends unless there's something I discover that I don’t like. In fact, I'm going to build a barn near the house so I'll get some more features. I want to have security on that as well. After all, at a really decent rate of 50 bucks a month, it's a good price. I don’t have a problem with it unless they all start raising the prices on me.

I've used Frontpoint as my security system in my home and business. I did the installation myself and it was okay. I had some sort of a problem but it was relatively easy once I called. I'm happy with the feature that I've got. The most frustrating thing is my work unit and panel is completely different from my personal one. It would be a little bit easier that I would already know how to do everything but it's just a completely different interior panel. Their services were packed right in line with what competitors charge. I would tell my friends that Frontpoint works like any other security system.

I had a security system before so I wanted to put one again especially since we're leaving the house a bit more often than before. Frontpoint has a system which I can put everything wherever I want to and I can add things later without having someone come in and solve things for me. Also, they have a good option of parts in there. I expected to be a little cheaper but it was fine. Compared to others they are somewhat at the same level. Basically, it's just that it cost me more because I had lots of windows and doors.

The installation mostly went well. The quality of the equipment is very good and the instructions were good and easy. The first set that I got was very easy to install because everything was matching like the specification number and stuff. But when I got the second set the things would not link. Even though when I try to put it in, it's just it tells me that this is not the sensor that I want to install into the drive. Basically I have to call back and then have that readjusted where I can identify each one.

Then whenever I wanted to name the sensors on the phone itself, I was not able to. I had pre-selected names where I want to input something of my own and it just would not let me. I had to go to the website to do that. After that I went to the website and picked things. I had to go back and find out which one was where exactly. I have a fixed window for one room that it basically has to only choose, "Okay, this is dining room, dining room, dining room," or something like that. I could not put 1, 2, 3, 4. It was a problem with pre-selected names without really having that ability to add anything else.

Also at the very beginning, there was a sensor that was bad. We texted them about it and they kept telling me, "No, it's fine." Then I left it again for a week and a half and then again they want to go through the same testing again. Everything is working fine except just one and they keep telling me, "Maybe the location of that machine is wrong, the main module." That's where I had a problem. I was getting ready to return everything until they accepted that and said, "Okay, we'll switch the sensor." After that everything was fine. I like the option to get rid of the chime whenever somebody opens the door or closes. If I'm working early morning that I don’t have to have everybody wake up. I use the phone just to arm and disarm the system. Otherwise, I go through the computer.

I'm okay with Frontpoint but not extremely happy. My friend told me that Frontpoint is easier to install. I understood the instructions and I was able to take out an essential part but eventually, I had to call them. A feature was not impacting the performance of the system but it's annoying and we contacted the customer service once. They fixed it but now, it's showing up again. Sometimes when I call, I have to wait so I don't like that. Also, it was always part of the conversation debate between me and their customer service about what type of deal I can get. I don’t like their non-transparency and hopefully, they get more transparent.

When my neighbor had several break-ins lately, I felt like somebody was going to break in and decided to get a home security system. I saw Frontpoint, read about their stuff and it looked like it was easy to install. When I installed it, the instructions were fairly straightforward. It told me how to do it and how to get my base station to recognize it, and it did. All I did was peel back off the little window sensors and the door sensors then I had to pull the little tab out so the battery will work. I put them in one at a time so I could number them and let the base station recognize them so I need a grasp of which one went where. I customized it and got enough sensors to cover the windows and doors.

I liked its features and everything being wireless because I live in a log house so it's been difficult to run wires. And I like being able to monitor it with my cellphone. I've got one of those key fobs and I can also activate or deactivate it. If any of my sensors go off, some of them flashed in one day because I have it set up to send me notifications, if any of my sensors activate. And even when the system is off, it tells me when I have motion sensors go off, and it goes off and I can tell you where my wife's at in the house. I put in a keyless deadbolt lock on the front door. When that didn't work and didn't match up with the system. I called them and their reps took care of it. It was pretty quick, but I knew it was taken care of. Their customer service has been excellent and their reps are knowledgeable. Also, everybody in the billing has been nice.

In terms of the cost in relation to its quality, I paid for the $49.99 package. But if I look at everybody else's cost and add any extras, it was about average for the rest of them. So far, I'm a 100% satisfied with the quality of the system and it functions well. And eventually, I'm going to put a camera in. I feel better when I leave now and I have a lot more sense of security than I did before.

As for its features, they were okay including the smartphone feature. But one day, the system crashed so I could not disarm the alarm on my phone. I called the customer service, and they sent someone to go there to unplug and reboot the system. The whole purpose of having a security system is for it to work and I haven't had any kind of issues with previous vendors. Otherwise, it'll put doubt in my mind if this will always going to happen. Unfortunately, there's a one-year contract so even if I have doubt, I can't really back out.

Our house got broken into and the burglars stole everything. We’re also first-time home buyers and we decided that we were just going to get a security system. I researched forever and then the guy that I called explained to me so very well how much better Frontpoint is over everything. If the burglars smash the system, it won’t turn off and that just made me feel safe. Everyone who I’ve ever talked to at Frontpoint has been amazing. They’ve always helped me out the best that they could and always answered all my questions. The installation wasn’t very difficult at all especially if you’re very used to technology. I was very shocked that it was so easy for me and my husband to do it ourselves.

I really like everything about the Frontpoint system. I love that if a window is open I can see it in the system. It basically informs me so I know that a door or a window has been opened. My dogs chewed the system's cord. I thought that it would shut the whole system off, but it didn’t. It’s been amazing, so far. Just knowing that I have that system that will alarm me when someone breaks in or if I’m not here, it will call me and the police make me feel so much better. I also feel so much safer that I can just unlock my door as soon as I get to it and it doesn’t take me 10 seconds to come in and then turn it off or my husband as he’s really forgetting that we have a security system. Having the app on his phone is so much easier for him. He can just do it before he gets to the house.

And at the beginning when I was setting everything up, I had a couple of questions and they answered right away. There had been a couple of times where we had false alarms but it didn't get to the point where anybody had to respond and we canceled under the 30-second mark. We had a home security system through Bright House but we replaced and upgraded it with Frontpoint. During the installation, the rep stayed with me until we got the system up and running. They are very professional. When I had a problem recently with one of my components, one of the reps troubleshooted it and said it needed a new component. He ordered that new part today and it’s already being shipped. He handled the situation perfectly. When I had Bright House, trying to schedule somebody to come and do repairs or replace a part was frustrating because they don’t care what your schedule is. Sometimes they make appointments to come and fix something but they never show up. Then when they show up, they're two hours late.

Frontpoint’s equipment functions well but I had to replace the motion sensor because it was past its warranty. But when the batteries go down, they mail me new ones and they get them to me in two days. It would be good to add a battery backup feature when the power goes out. In terms of the cost, it was good. On my cottage, it stayed the same for seven years, which was why I got out of the other company because it kept adding more surcharges and fees onto it. I'm on social security and my pay doesn’t go up so if a company keeps raising the prices, they price me out of their company. Frontpoint also doesn’t need a modem like Bright House does. It works off a satellite and doesn’t need all that other baloney to be hooked up to a network. With the other system, the modem was constantly breaking down and when it does or the power goes out, I have no security. Frontpoint is reliable and simple, and I would recommend it.

I have two different properties set up with Frontpoint. My first encounter with their telephone consultant was excellent. He walked me through everything and explained every question I had. Once the equipment came in we were able to follow through on his directions. The second person that I called for the Badger Pass property, I'm glad the young man answered my every question because there are still some pieces of the system I haven’t used yet and I would’ve over purchased, so I appreciate that he wasn’t zealous into just selling me something for the sake of selling. I say that when I'm promoting Frontpoint to other friends.

When the equipment came, it was accidentally hidden with Christmas presents. A Frontpoint personnel made a follow up making sure we had it and that I contacted them once we got it. That went really well. My husband and I contacted them for the initial set up and it was awesome. The person on the phone stayed on the line for over an hour until we had everything set up and he understood the blueprint of our home. We then reset things up as opposed to how we had it. We even had to run up and down the stairs but he stayed with us to make sure every single component and piece of equipment worked and we understood it. It got complicated a few times because that person wasn’t there and would happen to go by telephone.

To take that kind of time out, it lets me see that it’s not just a product but also, Frontpoint is training their personnel to take care of their customers. We have two pieces of equipment that we haven’t installed yet, but we know that we can safely call and someone will be there to guide us. They won’t put us on a 20-minute hold and then click off which I’ve experienced with other security places that we have had security with.

In addition, the features of the security system are simple. For me, I’m not an apps person and I’m not a techy when it comes to those things, but I'm able to arm and disarm the security system, and when I open up a window, I hear the voice telling me what’s going on. It's also very easy especially for people who are heading in their golden years or their geriatric years and they need security. They don’t have to worry about detailed things and they can just press it, listen to it, and lock-up. When they come in hearing the beep and if they don’t get the beeps in time, hearing it walks you through it.

Their salesman was very knowledgeable, helpful, and supportive. We walked through the house, and I told him the layout and my concerns. And he helped design a system over the phone, which we ended up getting. The installation was a little hard. We’re in a rental right now because we just sold our home. I called FrontPoint a year ago to cancel my service. They said, "you'll encounter an early termination fee because you signed a 1-year contract." Not true, I signed a one-year contract. So, I asked them to send me a copy of that contract and it said two-years (in months). I thought, "well maybe I was mistaken and let it slide." This time I called today and they said the same thing, "you'll encounter an early termination fee because you signed a three-year contract." I asked them to send me the contract and it said three years (in months). So, clearly, some fraudulent behavior is going on at FrontPoint where they are manipulating the wording of executable contracts. I wouldn't recommend them or their services to ANYONE! I canceled my service and if they want to hit me with their early termination fee, then so be it.

I'm going to tell everyone I know what a fraudulent company they are. And, let them see if that $199 early termination fee was worth it for them. Bad customer experiences always (ALWAYS) lead to lost business because a negative experience is talked about and propagated 10x as much as a positive one. If they haven't already learned that lesson, I'm going to teach it to them. Beyond that, there are tons of security companies you can go with that require NO CONTRACT whatsoever. So, why on earth would you tie yourself to a poor company like FrontPoint for 3 YEARS?!!! YOU HAVE BETTER OPTIONS! WE ALL DO!

I'm more alone than I have been before. My sister had Frontpoint and she seemed pleased with them so I got sensors from them for three of my doors. I also got a glass breaking sensor for one room where there's a deck and windows that are accessible by just walking up to something. Their sales reps were very cooperative. The installation wasn't really complicated and it went fine. It's a good security system and I would recommend getting it.

We just moved into a new house and I wanted to make sure that everybody is safe when I'm not home. We looked at all the reviews everywhere and Frontpoint had consistent reviews. The interaction with the rep went well, but I kept losing connection with the guy so I had to try to figure out how to get him back, and that was annoying. Even so, the installation went easy. We added a camera and the doorbell thing. Getting the little tabs for the doors is hard sometimes because they don’t stick into those places but that wasn’t too bad. My wife uses Frontpoint's smartphone features and she hasn't had any complaints. The best part of those features is being able to see from our phones. We have to park behind the house so we wanted to be able to see the cars if there's an issue.

We also would like the glass break things for windows to be included in our home security. That would be neat because we have a lot more windows. We'd also like a satellite office in different areas so if we have an issue, somebody could come out and check. The quality of the system has been fine, though the cost was a little expensive. We pay $600 but the camera does the whole of my vision and that’s what we pay the most for. But it would be neat if you purchased a security system for a certain amount of dollars that you didn’t have to pay the monitoring fee per month. Even so, I would tell others that if it makes sense, they should go with Frontpoint. I've heard a lot of horror stories about another security place, but Frontpoint's been hassle-free so far.

We moved into a new place. We really wanted to have a security system at our old place, but we never got around to doing it. I looked at various analyses on the web of different home security systems and I wanted one that was not hard-wired. Frontpoint stood out as having a good reputation and having good equipment so, I decided just to go with them.

The sales was great and the installation was pretty easy and went exactly how they said. The instructions were very good and pretty straightforward. I simply read through them as I did each of the types of sensors. The security system came up fine. The only issue that I have is that they had no documentation on the web how the system worked overall because it can be in different modes. They would tell me on the phone and I wrote it down for my wife and I so we could understand better when it's in the different modes being set and what happens when sensors go off. It would have been more helpful if they had a PDF or something we could download. They have nice PDF's on how to install the stuff but nothing on how the system puts together.

We've only had the system for four months and the quality of the security equipment seems pretty good. They have a couple of features, but there is not a lot of home automation features and exterior stuff that we can tie in like security lights and stuff like that outside. We have a walk-out and it would have been nice if there was a motion-detect security light that could tie in and cameras, too. The features are mainly interior which was good. I like the online interface and it works great. We can enable and disable the system anywhere using our phones. It's helpful if we are coming home and we don’t want to screw up, lift the garage door and then the alarm goes off. We could disable it when we are a mile away so, that works well for us.

The cost is reasonable and Frontpoint seemed to be in the ballpark because I also looked at the cost of the other companies. The cost, other than if it costs an arm and a leg, wasn’t as big a determinant for me as that it worked right. I was a little bit concerned about how different systems communicate back to the monitoring location and it seems like Frontpoint has a secure way of doing that, that is difficult to interrupt.

Two weeks ago, we heard the doorbell at around 9:30 at night and we wondered who was coming up so we looked and there was nobody there. That freaked us out a bit. It happened again and I had to call in and ask what the ding-dong meant. It turned out that it was our system. Other than that the security system makes us feel more secure. We have a lower level where we have smoke and flood detection. Also, the way houses are built nowadays, we have an emergency exit window that looks like anybody could kick in. That's protected by glass protection. We may not hear it upstairs but with the sensors downstairs, we would know there's something going on.

I tried to cancel Frontpoint for more than a year now but they say they would have to charge me 75% of the remaining contract if I decide to leave now. So I'm stuck with them because I can't afford to pay the 75% upfront which was something like $700 when I called them, even though I haven't used their services for close to 18 months now. The system was mediocre. A couple of time the alarm was activated with absolutely no reason which was quite stressful. I had a problem with their Smoke detector as well who got activated because a tiny bit of water came on it. And had a hard time cancelling the alarm. I would avoid this company and go on a month to month with another company. They lock you on a 3/5 years contract and you just can't escape if you decide there is better options elsewhere.

I had a couple of trial and errors when I was first installing the door sensors, but once I figured out how to put those things, it went really quickly. It took me under an hour to get it all up and running. I like all the features in my package, and I’m happy with the service that I’m getting. I DO NOT recommend Frontpoint. They use sketchy tactics to get customers. I switched from Cox Homelife to Frontpoint because Cox required you to pay for the device upfront and it was close to $800. When I called Frontpoint, they told me I paid a monthly fee so I assumed that meant that I was renting the equipment. Now that I'm moving and don't need the equipment they informed me that I own the equipment and am on a 36 month contract and I need to pay 80% to cancel. While I'm sure the contract stated that, I was never verbally told that. I was buying a home at the time and was presented with multiple contracts so it's on me for not reading the fine print. They had no problem verbally telling me how much it would cost to cancel though. Shady tactics! Be aware!

I purchased a new home and I saw the reviews about Frontpoint on Google and went with them. Their sales representatives were great and helpful. They were available for 24 hours when I called for questions. When I first called, the customer service representative asked me questions about my home and then they suggested the different things that they felt that I should need and things that I probably shouldn’t waste my money on getting. I went ahead and got the package that they suggested and once I got that, I added on items that I felt I needed for security. They were detailed with what they felt that I should need in my home based on the layout of my house. Their cost is great since I would pay the same price for the items any place else. I just stay up front for my items with them versus a monthly payment. So, I feel that the cost was fair.

When I first received their system, I had questions on installing the door sensors because it was a little tricky having a flush door. I had a little trouble installing that. It wouldn’t activate at first so I had to call about it. But other than that, it was pretty simple. There were little videos online so I just had to stick my sensors up in different places in my home, like on my windows and on the doors. They gave very detailed step-by-step instructions on doing that. The only problem I had was that their system is self-installed so they sent sticky pads but they only sent enough to put the sensors up. So, if I had trouble installing the equipment, I would have to purchase my own adhesive to put the product up.

They should at least send me some extras from time to time if I need it because it’s their equipment. We've called them up two times because the sticky pad failed. If the sensors fall and I don’t have my phone around, the police would come out to my house for a false alarm. But after having too many of those, I would have to pay the county for coming out and if I don't have my phone, there are going to be false alarms. But at least I know that if there is a problem, they will be there quick. Also, their customer service representative said that it's part of their rules not sending that out. So, it wasn’t them, it’s just the policy that once they sent out the first batch, they can’t send any more. But they're good and their response time is excellent. Also, the features of the system that they offered are awesome and I love them all. Every feature that I would want is in the security system they offered, so I liked it and I feel secure.

The new house that we bought is on some acreage, tucked away, so we bought a home security system to feel safe. We had good friends who have used Frontpoint and they've had a good experience with them so used them based on recommendations. I also liked that their system was backed up by a cell service. The salesperson that we spoke to was really helpful. He knew I wasn’t going to purchase anything right away and I was just getting pricing and everything and he stuck with me throughout the whole process. It, of course, led to a sale and their system was priced fairly. We just got the basics and planned to go from there. The only thing we had questions about was to make sure everything was set up properly since we installed the system ourselves.

The installation went well. The system gave us peace of mind and it has been working great. We’ll probably eventually order the outside camera with the way our house is set up. We also always use the smartphone feature. The only time that I use the actual device is when I'm coming in when the alarm is going off or when I'm at home and I'm arming it. However, a month or so in, the door we use the most wasn’t registering consistently so we were having a hard time setting the alarm. Ultimately the alarm was going off and Frontpoint was calling us saying, "Hey, your alarm is going off. Do you need anything?" And they always offer to transfer us to the service department when needed. But then, it was kind of like touch and go. Once we got it, it was fine. I feel comfortable reaching out to them and knowing that they'll get a resolution to an issue if there is one.

I live in New Orleans and crime here is pretty rampant. My neighbors have complained to me about everything from break-in to their cars to people taking packages off of their porches. So, in addition to having a home security system for any potential break-ins, I’ve also purchased a separate home monitoring system to keep an eye on the front and back lawns. I did a fair amount of research and Frontpoint is among one of the best-rated security system providers among consumers. There were more well-known companies like ADT, who is pretty universal, and Vivint is pretty popular amongst my neighbors but didn’t have good customer service rating. One of the chief reasons that I thought Frontpoint would be best for me is because my family is still growing and I don’t plan on staying in this home forever and the fact that I can pick up and move the security system with me was a huge plus in their protection.

I had several conversations with Frontpoint’s sales team and before making a decision, they walked me through the different products they provide. Initially, there were about nine different sensors or devices that I was planning on getting and the one that interested me the most was a water detection sensor. Being that we’re in New Orleans, I could put that under the house in case. We evacuated because of a hurricane and I put it under the house. We live on a raised house and it has some piling so I could literally put it under the house, and if the water got to the point that it touched the fence or approached the sensor, I would know if my neighborhood was flooded or not. And that was a cool thing to be able to do if the internet went out and my security cameras were no longer functioning.

The reps talked me through all the sensors and gave me a ton of information about all the different things they offered. And they didn’t pressure me into making a decision or purchase anything. In fact, they took me close to a year to pull the trigger and make the decision and they would check in with me from time to time. They weren’t pushy about it and that was great.

The delivery of the product included a fair amount of different information about installation and there were various different ways to install the products with the sensors. But everything was self-explanatory and there was an automated system that I can use via a smartphone or a computer. I just activated each one as I went. Unfortunately, there was some sort of misunderstanding. I noticed that not all of the sensors were initially activated. I’ve received all the sensors that I ordered but they didn’t all appear in that automated online activation protocol so I called and someone walked me through it. It was amazing. They held my hand through the remaining installation process and everything was incredibly simple, and they were very helpful. I was annoyed initially but they made it very easy so I ended up coming away with a good positive experience.

The features fit my home. We have a lot of windows and doors so I chose window and door sensors for everything on the ground floor of our home. This is my first home so I had very little experience doing this and after thinking about it for a while, it made more sense to reduce the actual products that would be used and I just tried to use common sense to choose the sensor that fit my home. However, they offer two different style panels to interact with and one of them is a touch panel while the other is just standard buttons. Neither is particularly user-friendly and they’re low-tech. Even the touch panel one is outdated.

I was thoroughly impressed by the sensitivity of the glass break sensor. In actuality, I did test the sensitivity and I went around the house to tell how good the range on that was. The only problem is my father-in-law and my father don’t hear the audible sensors like the house sensors when you open and close the door so this is not ideal for older people who may have hearing loss issues. I realized that there may be visual cues that you might be able to get as supposed to an audible sensor alert. I’ve witnessed these things since I was a child and most fire alarms now have flashing light for the hard of hearing. Both of my father and father-in-law are not deaf but still can’t hear that high pitch tone. Although it doesn’t affect me directly, it affects people who are in my house on regular bases.

We activate and deactivate the alarm almost exclusively through our phone and it’s easier than interacting with the panel in the house. Oftentimes, my hands are full coming and going in the house carrying groceries so it’s infinitely easier to, once we’re settled into the car, activate it and then once coming home. Before picking our stuff out to carry into the house, we could deactivate it and if ever we forget anything or forget to activate it, we can always do that on the fly. A few days ago, my sister needed to lay low for a bit and came to our house, and I was able to deactivate the alarm without having to give her the code.

On the whole, Frontpoint is fairly-priced, and the quality of the product and customer service are worth it. We took a trip shortly after installation and it gave us a heightened sense of security in our home. We felt less concerned about something happening here to a point that we hardly thought about it at all. Everything’s fine at home and we don’t have anything to worry about so that was a nice change from previous trips we’ve taken. I would definitely recommend Frontpoint. They’re not perfect but they’re pretty close to it.

    Customer ServiceContract & Terms

    Reviewed Feb. 27, 2018

I initially contacted Frontpoint and paid my monthly bill right on time for services rendered. However, when we decided to sell our home and move to another state we began our nightmare with Frontpoint’s deceptive and possibly illegal business practices. But first, let me be clear with all prospective customers! Avoid contracting with Frontpoint. They will give you no notice of their 3-year possibly illegal adhesion agreement which they will immediately remind you of if you seek to cancel services for whatever reason. Moreover, they willfully continue to charge you monthly fees even if you’ve notified them in advance that you no longer wish to utilize their services.

First, let me define what is an adhesion contract (aka an“unconscionable contract”). An adhesion contract is where the terms of the contract are so biased, unfair and one-sided in favor of the contracting party with the bargaining power that the courts refuse to enforce the contract as written. This appears to be Frontpoint’s preferred business practice because when you read the overwhelming number of complaints regarding Frontpoint it usually comes down to their dubious 3-year agreement that they use to charge the cancelling party exorbitant cancellation fees and defended their possibly illegal practice of dipping into your checking and/or credit card account to charge you for services not rendered.

That’s why you need to stay clear of this company whose business practices are routinely reported to the BBB. Perhaps these multiple complaints may result in a very costly but customer beneficial class-action suit against Frontpoint’s bully tactics. I contacted Frontpoint in advance of our move and let them know that I was going to notify and recommend the buyer continue services with Frontpoint (“FP”). The FP rep was pleased with our recommendation and never raised anything about cancellation fees and/or their nefarious 3-year adhesion contract.

At closing we again reminded the buyer to contact Frontpoint. They said they would. We moved. Later, I discovered Frontpoint was still charging monthly fees on my AMEX card. I notified AMEX and they stopped payment and said they would dispute the charges with Frontpoint. Several weeks later AMEX called and said Frontpoint had forwarded them a copy of FP’s contract that FP used to justify their continuing to charge me even after I notified FP in advance that I was moving to another state, recommended FP to our buyer who never utilized FP’s services that FP continued to charge me for and now wanted to hit me up with a major cancellation fee and no refund for services never rendered to me or my wife since our move.

When I called to complain FP adamantly refused to countenance my situation. Now, do you understand how this business practice is unconscionable? Let me explain. First, the customer has no alternative means of recovery for fees for services not rendered by FP except to fight them in small claims court, all the while being harassed by FP’s collections agency, and in the meantime having your credit rating adversely impacted by FP’s corrupt business practices. In sum, If I do not get my issue resolved with FP I am going to do all that I can to ensure FP gets tagged by the BBB as a company that should be avoided. Likewise, I am considering discussing my issue and others’ with plaintiffs' counsel who specialize in initiating class-action suits against companies like FP who utilize deceptive and possibly illegal business practices to fleece law abiding customers.

Updated on 2/28/2018: Yesterday, I filed a 1-star review about Frontpoint (“FP”) and their disingenuous business practices and model most especially their reliance on their infamous 3-year adhesion agreement. An adhesion contract - also called an unconscionable contract - is a contract where the terms are so biased, unfair and one-sided in favor of the contracting party with the bargaining power that the courts refuse to enforce the contract as written.Buyer beware! FP never mentions up-front that they will tie you to a 3-year contract that they rely on to continue to justify their dipping into your pocket to fleece you and hold you- the customer- responsible for whatever reason when you need or choose to no longer avail yourself of their services.

My complaint generated a response from FP wherein they offered to reimburse me for 1-month to resolve my initial complaint wherein FP continued to charge me for services not rendered for a period of 7-months even when I notified them that I was moving to another state and referred and recommended FP to my buyer. What a mistake that was! Needless to say, FP claimed it was my fault that I didn’t sever the contract per the fine print in their nefarious 3-year adhesion contract. I don’t feel alone in this regard since there are many, many more dissatisfied customers who have been fleeced by this company’s unscrupulous business practices.

I rejected their offer after I initially offered to pay 1-month and have them reimburse me for the remaining 6-months they dipped into my AMEX card all the while knowing the system was not being used at my previous address. FP didn’t even have courtesy to contact me to let me know the system was not being utilized by my buyer. No, it was my fault that I didn’t contact them and go through their elaborate and one-sided closing process. Yes, they get the mine and you get the shaft.

As I said previously, I refused their ridiculous offer even after I offered to meet them halfway. Nope, FP will keep your money and waive their infamous 3-year adhesion contract in your face to justify their nefarious bully tactics. Don’t be another victim of this unscrupulous company. Instead, go with another security company who won’t tie you to a sticky adhesion contract they will use to pick your pocket when you run into problem or have to move. In closing, don’t be fooled by their glowing reports. Check out the real ratings by customers they kicked to the curb. By the way they have 2.2 rating out of 5-stars. That’s awful; but it doesn’t seem to faze FP. They just continue to roll their customers. So, you’ve been warned. Stay away!!!

We wanted a security system that we could expand on and add other things, and we knew we could do that with Frontpoint. It also seemed they would work with me more, so I like them better than the other company we've used which had me locked into a contract. Working with Frontpoint's reps has been going pretty well. At first we had a couple of mistakes on what product we would receive but they quickly resolved it and got it sent out to me. And so, it all worked fine. The installation was self-explanatory, hassle-free and easy too. You don't need to schedule some technician coming by. The instructions were clear for the most part, but since the views on the website and the app were a little different, getting things named was a bit confusing. But configuring it to make it work was pretty straightforward.

The security system is fine and its features are adequate for it. The cost of the monitoring, however, was a little bit pricey and I could have gotten a better deal. But between what I got in equipment versus the monitoring service, it was a reasonable deal. And as of now, we want to get a camera system and add some home automation features tied into our Frontpoint system.

They were flexible in just trying to accommodate my price and I got what I wanted.

The big differences include being able to arm and disarm the system using a mobile phone. It has the camera features from a phone so I have a set of eyes in my house when I'm not there. The only other thing I didn’t get from Frontpoint that I got from ADT were the panels for my back and front doors. But having it on the mobile app it's not really needed. It took me a while to get it installed because of my schedule but once I sat down and did it, everything was easy. I might see how it lasts in a year but as of right now everything's good. I like it. Everything going well setting up; got the contact and I didn't agree with the wording. Declined to sign and have tried to contact company/sales rep via 3 e-mails and a phone call - no response. Now I have monies out of my bank account and am left with having my bank stop payment on this. Absolutely terrible customer service. ConsumerAffairs website says it all. I have also spoken to a 'Leslie' in customer service and she has informed me that my money will be refunded in 3-5 business days. Funny, the money was taken out (BEFORE THE CONTRACT WAS SIGNED!) right away. This is theft. Stay away from Frontpoint.

We did not have a home security system and I read positive reviews about getting it. Frontpoint was affordable and could be set up by myself so I went with them. When I had the initial call with them, it was the only time I interacted with their customer service and it was very professional, quick and fairly easy. I got their standard package and the equipment was shipped to me. I set it up from there and we just had two doors to set the alarm on. The installation instruction was straightforward. The equipment’s quality is good and I haven’t had any issues with its performance. It’s good to know that I have a working system at night so if anybody comes in, I would be aware.

We've always went with Frontpoint. It was a lot cheaper than any other security company. I've had several interactions with the customer service team and they have been fairly decent. The only disappointment we’ve had is that they were very inconsistent. But since we’re stuck in a contract, there are not much options for us to get out of it at this point. We’ve had motion sensors that we’ve had issues with. We’re supposed to be able to use two of the bases where you can punch in your codes at two different locations. We were told that we could when we signed up and then we weren't able to when we got the stuff. We’ve had decent luck with them but when we moved into our new house, it’s a lot bigger and has five access points so we’ve had a lot more issues with this home than we did in our townhouse.

Also, they don’t send technicians out to your home so that made it inconvenient. They just send you the box. We’ve installed the systems at two other places so it wasn’t a big deal. It’s just that we have a lot more windows now and the motion sensors have been set off by our cats probably 10 or 12 times. They weren’t supposed to be able to do that because they’re very small and under 20 pounds but they’re still able to. Frontpoint told us to move those systems around and get multiple ones. The door sensors are fine but the motion sensors are pretty bad. We’ve also got a break sensor but we can’t test that one out. We don't usually do the motion sensors and that defeats the purpose of half of the home. But other than that, everything else seems to be fine.

We also use the smartphone features and those are convenient. When it comes to the cost, it is very comparable to the other services we looked at. We purchased our own systems so that we didn’t have to do a contract. But we had to sign a contract for this home. I don’t know if it was something new or not. We probably would have got out of the contract and used a different provider if we had known we’d have these many issues. Frontpoint is slightly cheaper and you do get to keep it but I’d rather have a professional come out and install it. And probably would have gone that route in this home had we known. But for a small place, it would be fine.

We've had a security system for several years and Frontpoint had more components for slightly less than I was getting with ADT so I switched to them. In addition they discounted it so I didn't have any issues with the cost. Their customer service was good too. I found them to be fairly knowledgeable and the installation of the Frontpoint system was fairly easy and self-explanatory. But I had a couple of problems getting the doorbell to connect so I called them and they walked me through. So far, the system was what I expected. It worked well. I would have liked a water alarm for a basement and moisture detector to be included in my home security feature. In general it's a step below ADT's quality. The touchpad is the biggest challenge we have so far. My wife has huge issues with the arming and somehow it doesn't work well for her.

Also, when we an accidental alarm goes off we don’t get quick calls from Frontpoint. The time delay made us feel like we could have been in a real situation. Some of it may be our fault because we've had several false alarms and they armed it in a reasonable amount of time. Also, the configuration we have with Frontpoint is different than what we had with ADT. We had an extra pad and we could disarm it when we are coming out of our bedroom which is on the second floor. This configuration has caused us to have more alarms and we feel like we don’t get calls when that happens. And when we get calls from Frontpoint, I felt like they were quick to get off the phone. The persons who called were very hasty. Once I said that it was just a false alarm, they were very curt and quick to just end the call. They didn't make sure we were okay. Other than that the Smartphone features are fine.

I purchased a security system from Frontpoint for their interest discounts and safety for my fiancée, who stays home a lot by herself. From research, I saw that they were the best do-it-yourself alarm system. Everyone from their team was very friendly, and the installation was pretty self-explanatory. It took me five minutes to get everything set up. I had hooked up the battery before I plugged it in, and I was hooking up my main unit. I had to call Frontpoint back in once for support and everyone was very helpful about that.

I like the features in my system, and we haven't had any problems with being able to use the app to turn the systems on and off or being able to check and see what time the people came to check on our animals. The features I chose made the most sense. We have the door sensors, and then we have glass break sensors to be able to pick up any windows that are broken. The quality of the equipment itself seems sturdy enough. The only issue that I had was that the double-sided adhesive tape for the door sensors didn’t stick very well, so I had to replace the tape. The cost of the service is fine to me, and it is cheaper than other systems. I’ve had Frontpoint installed for two or three months now, and my experience with them has been totally fine. I'd definitely tell my friends to get them. It's easy to set up and use.

We recently purchased a new home and at the time, my wife was still pregnant. So, since we had a single family home for the first time and a baby, we wanted to make sure we had a security system. Part of our XFINITY services installed was the XFINITY Comcast home security. We tried that out for 30 days and then we just saw that with Frontpoint, you could pay a little bit less and you could get more functionality. The salesperson from Frontpoint who I've worked with was great. We talked with her a couple different times. She was really patient in answering all of our questions, going through all of the options, and making sure we got the right fit and we didn't pay for more than what we needed to. It was just a very enjoyable experience working with her and I wasn't pressured into anything.

We got the basic package and the installation was straightforward. However, since we live in an older house and with Frontpoint being DIY, I need to have an electrician come out to help install our doorbell because it is not currently on outside. Also, we need to have a locksmith come out because I can't replace our lock. It is an older lock that doesn't fit the newer standard size so the locksmith has to totally redo it. But, the rest of the system including the sensors and the camera was very easy to install.

The features of the system have been good too, although there was one possible setting that we wanted to have. It was one of those features offered by XFINITY where you could be more flexible with how the motion sensors are armed at night and which specific ones you want to give off a warning versus an immediate alarm. Because we have a dog, and sometimes in the middle of the night, we feel tired with the baby and we're not thinking about disarming the security before walking around, it would be nice to have that. Nonetheless, everything has been good. The quality of the equipment was very similar with those from XFINITY. I also like the camera and the sensors do work.

We live in a fairly safe neighborhood, but knowing that we have Frontpoint system installed gives us peace of mind. Also, I work from home but when I'm traveling for work and my wife is home with the baby, being able to have that peace of mind that Frontpoint could get involved if anything needs to happen and that there is sense of security has been nice. I'd recommend Frontpoint to anyone who's looking for a feature-rich security system that's affordable and has great customer service or to anyone who's really just looking for that peace of mind for a security system.

I spent quite a bit of time on the internet researching the various security providers for both hardware and services. When I go buy something, a TV, an alarm system or if it’s a car, I will research it exhaustedly. I will read innumerable articles and go through and look at all kinds of surveys so that I get the best price and the best service.

I narrowed it down to Frontpoint, ADT, or Vivint and while it wasn’t universal, Frontpoint tended to emerge as number one or two in most of them. I read a few things on Vivint and they’re getting better but they had a lot of customer complaints and customer relations issues so I just don’t want to be in that right now. ADT’s got a pretty good presence in our area but you don’t own the equipment. And you’re at the mercy of whoever comes up and installs it. In some cases, you’re going to get excellent installers. In other cases, you may not. Also, I talked to two people I work with that has ADT and one of them recommended it but the other was looking for how he could get rid of it. It was the continuous price escalation and it wasn't getting the value.

After I did all my internet research, I called and told Frontpoint what I was looking for. They had a sale package on and it had pretty much everything I wanted. But I had to add a couple of things like another motion sensor which they gave me a good price on. And there were things I wouldn't have necessarily bought like a doorbell camera. But compared to the normal pricing, if I took it out, it wouldn’t go and save me any money so everything was fine with that. It’s an additional benefit so we got all of that. I got all the hardware for $200 - $300 with the tax and all which for what I got was fair.

They sent a box and it was more or less follow the bouncing ball, read this and do this to get this to happen and step your way through it. You can do most of it straightforwardly. I was most impressed that they provided very clear directions for getting everything installed. It’s not that I can’t figure it out, but I had lots going on so I didn't have a lot of time to wait through manuals. I appreciate the fact it was to the point. It was clear and concise. I had to call them up on a couple of questions. We had one little instance that the time wasn’t setting right. They stayed and worked with me and we got it all taken care of. It’s simple.

I have had a couple of hardware issues early on but in both cases, I got the replacement out quickly. I had a little problem with the sensors being intermittent. It didn't really work and I had to return it and I got the replacement on the way. Also, the first time, I was missing a piece of equipment that was not included but I got the replacement out and was able to get that installed quickly.

Frontpoint is a good company and I think they do things well. And the service is like 50 bucks a month. They’re on the spot because we’ve had a little snafu just not with anybody breaking into our home but just somebody who didn’t know the system was on. It went out, it was triggered and they contacted me. They were right on it so I know they’re monitoring. Although they send a lot of surveys asking if I was pleased. That's fine but it’s like if I call them up and say hello, they don’t need to send me a survey right after that. But I’ve recommended them to several of my people. I referred the guy I work with who was looking to get rid of ADT to Frontpoint. I just tell people that I’ve done the homework. I'd provide them the link that I’ve come up with so they can go check it out for themselves. For the comparable money, you won’t find anything better.

I bought a new house and a home security system for it. I got Frontpoint because of their price and ease of install. I did most of the ordering for the system online so I didn't really talk to anybody. I did talk to them when I had a couple of issues setting it up but they were super responsive and very helpful. Ordering online was super easy. I got like a starter system and then added all the equipment I needed. I accidentally ordered something that I didn't need and they refunded me the money for it really quickly. The installation went fine. I downloaded their app, which walked me through each piece of equipment as I installed it and then tested it to make sure it was working. I didn't have any issues.

The app pointed me out where each item went. I was able to label each item specific to my home. And then, the app tested each item as I installed it to make sure that I installed it correctly. And then, in the end, it did like a system diagnostic test and then there was also videos training me on how to use the system. The panel comes with a cellular antenna that is a part of it where it gets its signal from. It turned out, my panel came with a Verizon antenna. I had had Verizon service so they were able to send me an AT&T antenna to help with that for free. And then they walked me through installing that new antenna which only took a couple of days.

I paid for the membership that includes the app so I can arm and disarm my alarm from the app. I can set up new users and it's very easy to use. My only complaint about the system is I have the fire alarm or the fire and smoke detectors, and they work very well, almost too well. I just need to get used to it. The quality is great. For what I'm looking for, it works perfectly fine. It has more stuff if I ever want to add to the system. I found installing it easy and it's all held up now for a couple of months.

Frontpoint's smartphone was good. They work well. There are even more tools for the app that I haven't even used yet. I just haven't had time. For what I use for, arming and disarming it, it's great. Frontpoint was wonderful and I'm very pleased. The cost compared to other systems that I've looked at and for the performance and customization, it's great. It was definitely a large upfront cost. But for the monthly subscription, it's very reasonable. We didn't have a security system before so now that we do, I feel much more secure. When we go out of town, it's much better.

I just purchased a home and I wanted to make everything was secure since I work in New York and I have my wife and young kid. Frontpoint is better than my previous provider because of its ease of use. Their reps have been mostly informative. The only problem I had was that I'm not technology savvy or a handyman so installing things and calibrating them on my own was a bit of an issue. It's hard for me to rationalize where the things need to go. It's also hard to know if the system is working when I set it up myself versus somebody professionally installing it. I have to go away for the first time to California and leave my wife and my son behind and my first worry was if the system is working properly since I installed it myself. I had to get one of my friends who is a handyman to come over and assist me.

I purchased some equipment as an introductory thing then and when I found that I needed a couple more different items to have my system fully functional, I wasn’t able to get the same promotion that I got on getting the equipment. I feel like they should at least give me 60 days to do that. There should be a little more flexibility to customers when ordering products especially new products. And right now I’m upset because my camera pack purchase is not responding and it's offline. The system should be a little less expensive since there's no labor to it. If you're a do-it-yourself person, Frontpoint is great. If you're just like me, you might want to be a little concerned about how the system is going to respond and how you’re going to install them.

I talked with Frontpoint's sales rep over the phone during my initial purchase. He called and discussed the options and what I would have. Then he went over the plans and what I would get for what I was asking for. He also gave me an expectation of what would happen when I set it up and how long. The experience was very pleasant, informative and relatively quick. Their do-it-yourself price and features together sold me. They offer the option to buy more monitors or sensors and I added a smoke detector. I looked into seeing if they were coming out with any video monitoring or a doorbell system shortly, but they don’t have it as of now.

The installation was very easy, simple and quick. The instructions were straightforward and easy to follow. However, some of the motion detectors were difficult to set up and verify that they were working. Plus, a few of the window/door sensors that I tried to place on my particular window setup were somewhat difficult. I had to look through and read up on the inner workings of the central module to make sure I was getting the full use out of it, but for a basic security system that went off and turned back, it was turnkey. I have a little device plan so I'm able to arm, disarm and check the status of the system from my phone. The central module gives me a bunch of options to change and set up. I very much enjoy it. When it has gone off, I've gotten prompt calls from Frontpoint security to verify that it was me or to not verify and send responders.

Also, the smartphone features are above average. While it's not topnotch, they're definitely very nice. In addition, the service has been very good and the system is very cost effective. It being there, in case something were to happen, has given me a little bit of peace of mind. I would highly recommend Frontpoint to friends who want a basic to slightly above basic security system.

I called to discontinue service and the customer service representative, David, was very rude and condescending. I will need to pay over $560 if I would like to discontinue service. He told me that “if I did not intend to use this service, then this was not a good choice for me.” He compared the use of Frontpoint to a cell phone provider. When I questioned his logic, and why he was saying this — he argued with me about why I was incorrect.

There was a tremendous difference in tone and flexibility with the representatives who set up the service, and those who answer the calls to discontinue service. I understand that not activating the service was an odd choice, but I was not asking for a refund. I found the setup process difficult (the installation of the video cameras) and kept putting it off until I sort of gave up on the whole thing. Regardless, the call with David was unpleasant and unprofessional. I would be very careful about what you are signing up for when you choose this company.

Today, Feb. 2, 2018, I called a representative and left a message inquiring about my refund. After leaving the message, I immediately filed this complaint with the BBB. 2nd: Today is Saturday, Feb. 3rd. Started reviewing bills for the month and noticed that Frontpoint has now charged my bank account a monthly service fee of $47.69. WHAT?! Now, I have to do another report to BBB concerning Frontpoint. Everyone, please, keep notes. My experience with Frontpoint is horrible. I am, also, contacting my attorney later today.

Overall fairly good experience however, I had called to reassign the contract to me since I am getting a divorce however, they said I would have to pay $69 to do this even though it's clearly my name on the pay to account and billing address. You would think that since they've had a customer consistently pay the bill that changing a name would be a none issue. Now I have to wait until the end of the contract to change and I'm really not comfortable with having my ex have any access.

The initial sales call is very pushy, but I was ready to buy, so it didn't really put me off. I also liked the idea that the sales rep sold me on which was that I would always be able to contact him directly. Despite my attempts to do so I have never spoken to him again since The initial sales call. Not that it matters because I realize now that it doesn't matter who you talk to at Frontpoint. The problem is the equipment, so short of changing the equipment to something which isn't cheap junk, no one at Frontpoint will be able to help.

The first 3 months of our Frontpoint service was excellent and mostly trouble free. Their customer service representatives have for the most part been nice and eager to try to help, but nice is irrelevant when the equipment doesn't function as it should. The equipment is bulky and looks old and clunky. After 12 months it started to function as such. Sometimes taking several minutes to several hours to actually arm and disarm, sometimes never actually arming at all. One night we went out for a Christmas gathering, and in the few hours we were gone we could not manage to remotely arm the system and when we returned the system was still not responsive via the app.

The app showed repeated arming signals being sent, but never managed to successfully arm. Attempting to resolve this with customer service always resulted in "your signal looks good". They have offered to escalate it further and have me sit on the phone and troubleshoot the system, but I'm afraid I don't have that kind of time, nor would I want to waste it on troubleshooting if I did.

The door sensors are an eyesore. Our door leading into the garage is sprung and closes on its own, so it slams a lot. The door closing itself was enough to damage the door sensor. Frontpoint offered to sell me a new one. I was able to make it work again by moving the magnet portion of the switch to where it touches the sensor when the door closes to actuate the switch. The sensors on the exterior garage door get stuck often, showing the door is open when it is not. So you end up having to open and close it a few times before it works again. When I called them their questions were so idiotic and condescending that I hung up and decided to just live with it.

Their motion sensors are a joke. We had to reposition them so many times to get them to stop giving false alarms, to the point where their locations are practically useless. We were recently out of the country and the false alarms started again. Since we were unreachable when the company Frontpoint contracts the monitoring duties to would call, they dispatched the police for every false alarm, which has now resulted in a bill from the local sheriff's department. So we had to start using the system in stay mode only, which only works if an intruder comes in through a door. Of course the offending sensor stopped activating after we switched to stay.

Next there's the delay. 30 seconds for the alarm to go off and 30 seconds of the alarm actually going off before Frontpoints monitoring cronies lift a finger. That's a minute. One minute for an intruder to wander around your house and do whatever they want before anyone notices. Where I'm at now is having to pay both Frontpoint and another alarm company for monitoring services, because paying for the time left in your contract to receive nothing sounds incredibly stupid to me. I feel like Frontpoint generates more revenue from contract cancellations than they do from actual subscribers.

I look forward to the day I can remove all of the Frontpoint equipment and throw it in the trash where it belongs. My house is pre-wired so every window and door has a sensor on it, this includes motion or glass break sensors in all rooms. I'd much rather have the complete coverage and dependability of the hard-wired equipment.

I’ve been a customer for over two years now. Never had a problem from customer support until now. I’m currently going through a nasty divorce and I’ve been left with numerous bills including the Frontpoint system which is attached to the house my husband is keeping. I am living with my parents. They have their own alarm. I have no one to transfer the account to as my husband is unwilling to help me. When I called Frontpoint to ask for help and explained my situation I was told I could pay $400 to cancel the remainder of my contract. The other option was for my husband to keep it. That’s it.

I can’t afford to pay that amount when, and when I told them that they offered no other solutions. I’m paying for an alarm that my husband has now turned off and it’s sitting in a box. The lack of compassion for someone in my situation was unreal. I understand contracts but this is something I needed their help with, an extraordinary life circumstance and an abusive relationship. They offered me zero reasonable resolution. I would not suggest this company due to the lack of compassion they’ve shown me and I’ve made it a point to tell everyone to stay as far away from this company as possible.

    Reviewed Jan. 19, 2018

I have had Frontpoint for a little over three years. Unlike some others, I did know that I had a 3 year contract going in. I began to attempt to cancel the service a few days ago. I am wishing to have a different service take over the monitoring, as $42.99 is too expensive for a system with few sensors, no cameras, no smoke detectors, or anything else. They were willing to drop the price to $32.99/month, if I do another 3 year contract. I don't wish to have another contract and be locked in. It is ridiculous to require a contract for monitoring on customer owned equipment! (I paid for the equipment upfront!)

Since I started canceling the service, I spoke with a few different monitoring companies, and determined what information and actions I need from Frontpoint to allow a new company to monitor. I need to have the system set to default, or have the installer code. They agreed to provide the installer code. Good so far. I also need them to release the cellular module in the system, so the new company can access it. They have refused to release the module, saying that "they can't". That means that the only way a new company can monitor the system is for me to purchase a new cellular module. Their customer rep has been less than helpful.

As for the system itself, in the three years we have had it, we have never been able to use the three motion detectors in the house. They continuously faulted, and falsed even when in a kitchen cabinet. I attempted to resolve this several times with Frontpoint, but ultimately gave up. From that point on, I disabled the motion detectors, and simply had the doors monitored. Even then, we have had several falses with the garage door sensor, including one in the middle of the night. We arm the system as if we are home, even when away, which disables the motion sensors.

To sum up, the system never worked properly. I just gave up trying to spend time to troubleshoot the system using their phone support. Frontpoint has NO technicians that they can send out to assist. You are simply on your own. Couple that with the obstacles put in the way, and you have an unhappy customer! That said, if the service from Frontpoint was better, the system worked as it should, and the price was more reasonable, I would have never canceled. I would not recommend them at this point.

I had another security system at my old house. When I purchased my new house, I wanted another system and decided to check out Frontpoint. I told the salesperson my concerns with systems and he assured me Frontpoint was the best and had great customer service, so I went with them. I was still living in an apartment at the time and was told to go ahead and get it mailed there so I would have it. I never installed the system and have been paying for over a year (automatically taken from credit card). Times got hard, card is maxed out, so I tried canceling it... But BOOM! A THREE YEAR CONTRACT!

My last system was only a year and had no problems when I canceled. Times are hard and I can't afford my monthly statement, but if I pay 80% of the contract that's left they won't send my account to collections! WHAT?! I called and the only other option is to transfer the system to someone else. But I wouldn't suggest this company to anyone. Read the fine print and go with someone else. I should be able to send the untouched system back and they keep what I've paid, end of contract!

Bad equipment, bad communication. Equipment arrived broken or incorrect, they replaced it with the wrong item, charged me for the wrong item even though I sent it back. Later, faulty motion detector sensor (it was in a closed drawer because it wasn't working!) set off alarm twice when I was out of town and I didn't even find out they had dispatched the police either time until 2 months later!!!

They called once but I did not receive it as I was abroad. I received no follow up call, voicemail, email, text, alert in the app I pay extra to be able to have, smoke signal, pigeons or anything. They just called the cops and then NEVER TOLD me that happened. I found out months later when I was calling customer service about the broken equipment. Apparently you can go into your online control panel to receive some kind of additional email alert, but this was never explained to me. This is concerning 1) because it was their faulty equipment that caused the alarm to trigger and 2) now the neighbors in my shady neighborhood knew the alarm went off but I wasn't home to do anything when the cops came.

Customer service was great on the initial call (when they wanted to sell me an expensive contract), but afterwards has been AWFUL. I have called Customer Service 20+ times since having this system trying to work through all the details to just to make this system work. The senior customer service man assigned to deal with me admitted multiple times that my case was an "anomaly" and that I should not be experiencing this level of difficulty, but was hostile on his calls with me, accusing me of not being willing to work with them to fix the problems THEY created by giving me broken and mistaken equipment not once, not twice, but THREE times.

At one point I was even assigned a Customer Service Supervisor who promised he would be my direct point of contact to help work through any further issues. However, he has never replied to my emails requesting simple information about how my system works so we can avoid another false alarm and lack of notification. I have spent hours and hours trying to resolve this, until I finally begged them to just us part ways since, as they admitted, my experience with them has been particularly terrible. However, very unfortunately I'm stuck with them for years to come.

I opened an account with Frontpoint when I was living in an apartment. One of the selling points with Frontpoint was that I "could cancel whenever I wanted to." This made me comfortable with the service. A year later, I bought a home in another county and contacted Frontpoint to see if I had service and if I could continue. I was told I had to wait until I moved in to see if the signal would work. No one could verify. When I moved in, I learned that I had another service provider in place with expensive equipment and was offered free cameras. So after calling Frontpoint and being told I had to call back and speak with technical support, I signed with the other provider.

When I called to cancel I was told I had a three year contract and would have to pay a cancellation fee. This is bait and switch, I liked Frontpoint but not allowing a customer to cancel after a move to more rural county that isn't listed on your website isn't really fair. I looked over the contract and what the sales person offered is very different from what you have customers sign. Also, customers only have to pay 80% of remaining charges so telling customers that paying the entire bill each month is cheaper is not true.

Their sales practices are deceptive. They do not provide all the information upfront, according to customer account manager that I spoke to; however, that's apparently fine because other companies don't either? These facts that they curiously decided to leave out during their sales pitch would have CERTAINLY affected my doing business with this company. A waste of money and time. I've had nothing but issues with the system. I have paid the city of Phoenix 3 separate times for false alarms and they have never been able to figure out the problem. Sensor malfunctions, sensors falling off the walls and the cameras have a 10 second delay! The high tech keypad sounded like my old Commodore VIC twenty and was just as useful. (It takes a pic of whoever disarms). A great idea but so slow that you typically caught the back of the head of the person who disarmed HAHA. You could be out of my house with my laptop before my cameras notice. The picture quality was awful. The last false alarm was 5 minutes before U2 was supposed to take the stage.

I'm yelling in the phone "dont send police!" so naturally they sent the police. I'm watching them hop my fence (ten second delay of course) while The Edge is standing in front of me. I call to cancel and am told I'll have to pay out my contract for the last 6 months or so. I ask for a supervisor who waives the remaining fees after my concert story. This morning I wake up and notice they are still charging me. I call again and their excuse? I'm supposed to cancel in writing... they sent me an email, yup it's in my junk. Frontpoint has been a nightmare for my family. We recently moved into a 110 year old home and after 2 months at our first house with Frontpoint, I brought my system with me. When we tried to install the system, it was quickly apparent that the door sensor would not work in a recessed door to the back of the house. Frontpoint offered a few solutions, but none were practical (drilling into a 110-year old door frame to cut a space out for a sensor, drilling into a steel door, motion sensors despite large dogs, etc.).

I asked instead to cancel as the system is not practical and no longer meets our needs for security. I was told I had to pay 80% of the remaining balance because it costs Frontpoint some absurd made-up number, like $3500) to activate each system. Quite frankly, it is an insult to the intelligence of Frontpoint's customers to tell them this. There are month-to-month security systems available; how could they possibly stay in business with those costs?! Not to mention that the systems are installed and set up by the customers themselves, supposedly to save money.

In addition, when I first received the system, I got a doorbell camera that wasn't able to be installed with my current doorbell. At no time did the tech I called tell me I could send it back for a refund. I was given alternative solutions, like call an electrician, or try some other camera. Months later when I mentioned the unusable doorbell camera again, I was told there was nothing Frontpoint could do, as I should've called when I received the camera. I had done that!!! Yet again, there was nothing they could do. I have a friend stuck in the same Frontpoint hell I am in, where she is paying monthly for a system that is collecting dust in a drawer. Apparently this is how Frontpoint makes their money. I strongly advise you to look into a month-to-month company instead.

I was a good customer for over three years. I paid my bill on time every single month. In November 2016, I was told by customer support that I could leave the system disconnected and my contract would end automatically in August 2017.

It's now November, and it turns out I've been automatically charged for four months of service AFTER my contract expired! Frontpoint will not refund the automatic charges, even though the system has been disconnected for many months. This is a terrible way to treat a longtime customer, especially when Frontpoint boasts about its supposedly high-quality service. So, like it or not - or whether Frontpoint wants to admit it or not - their "highly trained sales and customer service people" are flat out lying to new customers!!!

Frontpoint will not even issue a couple months credit towards my alarm monitoring service for all the time/trouble I've had with this issue! By the way - the reason I want an external alarm siren is that if someone does set off my alarm and the panel speaker starts sounding the alarm - it's quite easy for the perpetrator to smash the panel if they can get to it. And if they do not smash the alarm panel speaker and it continues sounding - guess what??? You really cannot even hear it outside the house!!! So, what good is it really? I mean it may scare the perp but the perps know they have 2-3 minutes to grab laptops, guns cash or just anything they see lying around... Perps know this and they also know it typically takes police 10-15 minutes to even make it to the house!!! It's a major metro area! So - guess what again? Your alarm may not be up on the top of the local police dispatch list!!!

Therefore - I discussed all this upfront with the sales people who all wholeheartedly agreed and pointed out how accurate that is... And agreed that an external siren - along with the panel speaker and even a couple more internal sirens are a huge deterrent for the perp to "hang out for even one more second"!!! However - it seems loud sirens both inside and outside are not something Frontpoint is the least bit concerned about nor that their "product team" cares about... Even though it's a proven fact a blaringly loud sirens or better yet multiple blaringly loud sirens that go off instantly the door or window or sensor is breached are the #1 deterrent to get the perp to run away as fast as they can and not waste one more second in your home.

IE - when the perp hears an external alarm siren and the internal sirens all going off screaming out across the neighborhood - they are much more likely to run away as fast as they can without disturbing any belongings!!! But most people are oblivious or simply don't care about an external siren. Well this customer does care. The Frontpoint system does have a "smash protection feature" - which is good and it does dial out to the police on the cellular network that's independent from the house wifi.

I'm very disappointed with my Frontpoint customer experience... I was lied to. Again and again and again and again. Overall - the system is "ok" but for me I want that external siren! And that is something that is such an easy thing to offer/fix/resolve that I'm shocked, appalled and mystified that Frontpoint does not care even slightly about resolving my issue.

Wishing we had never ever heard of this company. We have had nothing but problems since day one. This system is installed at our vacation home in Florida. In August the alarm panel went out again - 4th time in a year. With hurricane Irma approaching our area we are left with no security, no cameras, no flood sensor - leaving our home unprotected - UNACCEPTABLE. We have called the past year numerous times and are told the same thing over and over: "If you aren't physically at the panel we can't help you." Kind of defeats the purpose of having an alarm system.

Please don't misunderstand. Their staff is very courteous and have tried to help - it's the equipment that sucks. The equipment is expensive, the cameras are crappy quality, flood sensors don't work, image sensors don't work and the answer for everything is "We need to send you a new panel". We have been given credit after credit, which we appreciate but it doesn't make anything right - our property is still unprotected and vulnerable. We cannot wait until the Is contract expires and we can get a reliable security system.

I called them and they stated that my balance was just over $300 and if I call by the 8th of September I would not be sent to collections. Here I am on the 6th and I call to make the payment and was told that I was sent to collections with a new balance of over $1239.75. After repeated attempts to install, and repeated conversations with "customer support" I finally gave up because I was so frustrated with trying to install this system on our doors. We have graduated door frames and the little sensors wouldn't line up properly. Then after we opened, we got so busy that I didn't realize how much time had passed and we apparently went past their allowed time to cancel. However, we NEVER ACTIVATED THE SYSTEM. They continued to charge for the monthly monitoring fee (FOR WHAT?) and when I tried to speak to someone about sending the system back and obtaining a refund, I got the runaround and no one will return my calls or emails. I would not recommend this company – never mind their rating.

    Updated review: Aug. 31, 2017

Frontpoint stepped up and resolved the issue.

    Original Review: July 31, 2017

I arrived at ConsumerAffairs.com after searching to see if other customers were having similar experiences with Frontpoint, and based on recent reviews, it sure seems that they are. I was a victim of the widespread fraud perpetrated by Wells Fargo Bank. I opened a credit line, and later learned the salesperson opened multiple accounts in my name. Accounts that had monthly charges and minimum balance requirements. In trying to fix this and close the fraudulent accounts, I was given the run-around, told that I had opened the accounts, told that there was nothing they could do etc. etc. We all saw how that practice ended for Wells Fargo. What has been bothering me about Frontpoint is that what they are doing to me--and others apparently--makes me feel exactly like I felt as a victim of Wells Fargo.

Here is what happened. I was an early Frontpoint customer in 2009 when I bought a house that did not have an alarm system. I wanted a wireless system and I wanted to control it on my phone. Frontpoint was the only service I could find that would do it. I purchased my own system, installed it, and then connected it to Frontpoint. Everything worked. I put the Frontpoint signs up and even told some neighbors about it. Other Frontpoint signs pop up around the neighborhood.

Fast forward EIGHT years. There are two-midday burglaries within a few doors of our house. My wife and kids are home many days when I am at work. My self-installed system does not have full perimeter monitoring and expanding it that level was outside my abilities. I called Frontpoint to ask about having an expert come enhance the system. They told me they no longer offered that service. Security first. Since Frontpoint won't enhance my system, I have a local Alarm company come out to design and price a full new system. They do, they install it and I also asked them to remove the old system (which I want destroyed as it has codes). The new system works perfectly. Everyone feels secure.

A few days later, I call to cancel my Frontpoint monitoring. This is where things take a bad turn. First, I get connected to a service rep that says they can't help me and since there is a wait time, they will call me back. No one calls back. I call again, and they say the same thing, so I ask to hold and was transferred nearly instantly. I explain that my system is removed and that I need to cancel monitoring. He says, I can't, I am in a contract period. I explain that he is wrong and he was rude so I ask for a manager. The manager then says I signed a contract in 2015. I say please send it to me, I have no recollection of ever signing any contract.

She emails a contract a day later. It is signed by my wife. Apparently a sales rep convinced her that we needed some sort of new transmitter, and she thought she was signing for that. In any event, he emailed the document with my name and signature block to my wife. Who e-signs it. Now, the contract furthers says if the system is removed or destroyed for any reason whatsoever, the monitoring stops.

I email the rep back and explain all this. I get a response that although "I feel" that the signature is not mine their customers are satisfied with e-sign. I tell her I don't "feel" that the signature is not mine, I know that it is my wife's and they know that they sent the document to her. She goes on to say that in any event they "assume" that "whoever signs" is "taking ownership" of the account. I point out that this is absurd. Under no situation can anyone "take ownership" to amend my account. Not even my wife. And spouses do not have any power of attorney.

Frontpoint further has no option for you to remove payment methods. I've never experienced this (not with Netflix, Amazon or any reputable online service). So they plan to just keep stealing from me while making it impossible to stop them. Just like Wells Fargo did. Here is the problem: The sales agent was likely compensated for the fraudulent contract that he generated. The customer service reps are either compensated for keeping the contracts or punished for releasing them. This amounts to no less than the fraudulent conspiracy committed by Wells Fargo.

If Frontpoint takes my money or charges some absurd contract termination fee, I will take them to court and win. They have no contract with my signature. Further, the contract they say they have has a termination provision if the system is destroyed like mine was. If any lawyer wants to aggregate a Class Action, I will gladly join. I would highly advise anyone against doing business with Frontpoint, they clearly have lost their way.

I recently moved and canceled my service for home security. I moved into a house with someone else who has their own system. I called and gave explicit instructions to "STOP" the automatic withdrawals from my bank account. The representative told me that normally they would request the directive in writing, but he would make an exception and terminate the account. He sent me an email confirming this.

I advised him that the bank account was not being closed, but the account would not have money in it. He understood and said the bank would no longer make withdraws from that account. Unfortunately, Frontpoint continued to make withdraws for 3 months. Every month, I was hit with a $38 "insufficient funds" charge. Every month I would call to Frontpoint and inquire about this blunder. The first excuse was that it takes 30 days to process everything. The excuse for the next two months was that they use a third party and the third party did not implement the required changes. My agreement is with you, not the third party.

Now, they owe me reimbursement for the bank charges. It has been weeks of back and forth and they have not paid the charges. They claimed to have credited my card. I do not have a card and never paid my monthly fee by card. They pulled it from my account, so credit my account. Their Customer Support Manager (Randall**) claims that they have to credit a debit card. I do not have and never had a debit card. He said that is the only way they can credit me. I left him a message and asked him to call me about refunding the fee by check... He has never responded and ignores my calls. Isn't that convenient?

Think about this. It is only $38, but would you open your car window, while driving, and throw $38 out the window? The charges from my bank were a result of Frontpoint's inability to follow directions and implement the necessary changes. They caused the bank charges and now they refuse to reconcile the account. They resolved the first two charges but have not made a sincere effort to resolve the last charge. Frontpoint will not have me as a future customer. I used them for approximately 4 years. When I move again, which will be within the next year, Frontpoint is out. I have been in sales my entire career and you do not treat your customers that way...

There was numerous failures to respond to inquiries from us as the customer. The biggest is when the alarm was sounded and our phones were never called. They claimed "our logs show we called all three phones" yet ALL THREE smartphones had no missed calls. Later I confirmed that Verizon could prove they never called any of the numbers. They say they didn't send the police because the alarm was "eventually disarmed" but what if a burglar had put a gun to my wife's head to disarm the alarm? Frontpoint put my family's lives in danger. Then on MULTIPLE attempts to call and ask why they didn't call, they seldom (2 out of 8 emails/voicemails) responded because their service hours are limited. Perhaps they've got too big to handle their customers as I read all these good reviews yet we have 5-6 major failures of their service in just a few months with them.

Before they send you the contract so you are able to read it or terms they ask to charge your account the $95.99. I made the mistake of saying yes, then after reading the contract and the deception about the price I decided against it. The charge is still on my account 6 days later. The sales person emailed me about my decision and called to ask why I didn't want it. I thought that was excessive. If you activate your system on Day 1, this means you have 365 days of protection. If you do not activate your system you have no protection. But you pay exactly the same amount as if you had activated your system. So option #1 (activate) gives you all the protections that Frontpoint has to offer, vs. option #2 (don't activate) which gives you absolutely no protection. Frontpoint charges the same amount, regardless of whether you choose option #1 or option #2. And you're stuck in a 1-year min contract.

The bigger issue, for me, is that Frontpoint does not seem to have any actual customer relations people. All they have is salespeople. So if you have a legitimate complaint, do not expect it to be addressed. Expect the "customer service rep" (a salesperson) to sidestep all your questions. Do not expect direct answers to direct questions (e.g., "What is 2+2?" Response: "You have to understand that our suppliers..."). Never before have I encountered a "customer service" chain that consisted of nothing but salespeople. Frontpoint might provide good protection, but they do not provide good customer support. (And I have to wonder how many people they have screwed over by charging for services they weren't actually providing.)

Consider waking up at 5 am and trying to use the app to disarm your system. The app doesn't work. You have to go to the panel and shut it off there. Then try the app on another device... fail. Try to logon to Frontpoint... fail. Try to get technical assistance but you can't because, THEY ARE CLOSED. I believe I should've stayed with an ADT system over these guys. At least I would get support. We relied on the app due to the house layout. Now it's useless thus rendering the system useless. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. This is a DIY security system with phone installation support. The door sensors are a pair of flimsy, foam stickers that stick to the outside of the door and the frame. They protrude out, are quite visibly noticeable, and are easily detached. The glass break sensor did not detect clapping unless standing within 5 feet of it. So if you need this to work, you will need to buy several for your doors and windows.

The first false alarm that was activated was simply that (an alarm), Frontpoint did not notify police and there is no live person coming on over the main box to ask the person to identify themselves. I'm pointing this out because CPI does have a live person immediately speaking through the box asking for identification and the password. With CPI if you are unable to identity yourself and give the password, a second series of even louder alarms is sent off with authorities called to the scene.

The second false alarm, Frontpoint called my cell phone and asked for the password. I gave them both passwords. The genius on the other end told me it was the wrong password because I was combining the two together and would not cancel the alarm. The police were called, and were very upset with me that my alarm system was not registered with the city. At no point during the sales pitch or installation did Frontpoint tell me I needed to register the system with the police department. Seems like an important point to go over with the customer. Frontpoint seems like a cheap, unsophisticated security system with my experience so far.

Let me start by saying, anywhere that requires you to write a letter to cancel your service is a SCAM. I have now learned this valuable lesson. Another telltale sign is a long contract. Frontpoint has a minimum contract length of 3 years! That's ludicrous considering there is absolutely no reason why there should be a contract. Why shouldn't I be able to discontinue my service if I'm not happy? Anyway, the reason I'm writing this complaint is I wrote my cancellation letter and they wrote back saying my formatting wasn't correct and because of that I have to rewrite my letter. I'm not sure if this was some kind of prank, but I'd like my money refunded for the 2 months after my original cancellation letter was sent.

They only know if there is a problem with your home monitor station if 24 hours goes by and they don't receive communication from your home monitor. What this means is that if for some reason communication is lost (weak satellite signal, or cell tower problem) you could be unmonitored for up to 24 hours for break-in or fire. They have no way of knowing if your system is working for up to 24 hours between the last time your system notified them. They don't tell you this when they sell you the system. So if you think your family is protected in case of a fire, and for some reason they lost communication with your station, it could be 24 hours before you are notified. That's supposed to make you feel safe if there is a fire?

If you call and ask a customer support person about this, they will tell you this exact thing, but if you don't know to ask, then they won't tell you. And almost nobody knows to ask. And if they tell you that it is very rare to lose communication with your station, don't believe it. They lost communication with our station twice in one week, 3 times in two months. And although they claimed they sent us an email, we NEVER got any notification. No email, message or phone call. This is a joke! They sell you false peace of mind. You are taking a chance that you will never lose service, and if you do, that nothing will happen between the 24 hour window when they wait to hear from your station. Very misleading sales pitch! It's like buying insurance that sometimes works, and sometimes doesn't.

Sorry fella, I like to make sure my wife and I are on the same page when it comes to our finances and any monthly commitment we will be making with our money. I know that you should always read the fine print but everything has a military clause, for the sole reason of supporting the military lifestyle we move A LOT! Well not FRONTPOINT nope. They've looped their contract a million different ways. We as military earn the right to a lot one being a home loan. Being a specialist I took advantage of that. I bought my first home and TRUSTED the person on the other end because of the whole we understand military pitch. Turns out now that I'm having to sell my home to move back home until I get on my feet as tied to a 24month contract with these guys that want 800! For ending the contract early. So they pitch to me, "Hey you can transfer your security system which is just a toy of a security system anyway."

It's been saying ración not responding meaning the system is dead for like 3 months and no one's called, verified everything is okay or nothing. I could be rotting and they wouldn't notice as long as that monthly payment which is mandatory on auto pay goes through and I only got it to reduce my home owner's insurance policy so I didn't care that it didn't really do anything. But all the homes even rentals have security systems already not to mention who wants to take on more bills. So I ask for a copy of the contract. Turns out their military accommodations is just them saying "we'll do a temp pause on your monthly payment but we'll add that pause to your end of contract date so we're still gonna hold you to it." Forget that you were deployed or are out of the military and had to sell your home and feed three children. STAY AWAY! Gonna keep posting this until it helps someone.

After I had been home for 5 minutes, I received a text stating a possible break in at my house. I called Frontpoint to see what was going on. I realized that when I entered my house and turned off my alarm, through some faulty error it came across to Frontpoint dispatch as a possible break in (even though it was just me entering my home as usual). Although during my original agreement, Frontpoint said they would make 3 separate calls before they dispatched the police, they did not try to contact me; I know because I was in my house and my phone nor my cell phone rang. The Police were dispatched. I asked them to cancel the call to the Police since this is the 3rd false alarm in the past 12 months.

When I went to call them back to find out about fixing my faulty system, they said they would have someone call me back immediately. That was two hours ago and I am still waiting for the call. It is 10:30 PM at night. Two different emergency reps said they would call me right back. Neither has. I am more worried about the Police filing a report against me for too many false alarms than I am against having a burglar. I gave Frontpoint a 4 star because they used to have really great customer service but now they have left me in the lurch. This is my 4th year with them. I think as the systems get older they start having issues.

My ex husband and I purchased the Frontpoint system over 2.5 years ago. The account was always paid up to date. When I ended my 31 year marriage due to extreme emotional abuse, I was extremely traumatized, and in deep grieving. My alarm system went off, and instead of calling my daughter, they called my ex. Triggering a terrible reaction. I called them, explained the situation, and asked them to please remove his name from the contact list.

The alarm went off again. They once again called my ex husband and I, through tears, pleaded with them to "Please remove his name. Call my daughter. Let me give you one of my son's names." Frontpoint said he would remain a contact if the alarm went off until the contract was up in July of 2017. This was the summer of 2016. I have great credit. I always pay my bills. That's how I was raised. I keep my word. This is how Frontpoint operates. It should have been an easy fix. They preferred to traumatize a good customer. DO NOT GET FRONTPOINT. Unless, of course, you find it amusing to abuse abused women.

I got Frontpoint for a home we were listing for sale because of so many good reviews. When I contacted frontpoint and explained we might sell the house during the year of service that frontpoint required we sign up for, I was assured by the frontpoint salesman on the phone that if we sold the house the year long monitoring agreement could be easily transitioned to the new owner, and was never told there was any cost associated with this. House sold. New owner wants the monitoring service, we contact Frontpoint and it takes nearly 3 weeks for them to get us the electronic signed paperwork to transition the account over to the new owner. I get confirmation we both signed and am charged a $69 service fee for transitioning the service.

Alright, I was stupid enough to believe the salesman... I contacted Frontpoint and they told me my $69 transfer fee would be refunded. 3 weeks later that still hasn't happened. Worse yet, I am STILL BEING BILLED MONTHLY for the monitoring service by frontpoint. What the **! It is impossible to remove my automatic credit card payment from my frontpoint account, even though the name of the new owner has been added to it. None of his information is in the account other than his email address. Wow! What a SCAM Frontpoint is!

Trying to contact the service representative is hit or miss, it usually takes DAYS for him to get back to me. When he does, he promises things will be fixed and so far he has been 100% wrong. No refund on the $69 transfer fee, no actual transfer of the account (although I have it in writing in email from the esignature document) and ongoing automatic billing that I cannot stop to my credit card. If I had known it would be this much hassle, take so much of my time to try to get the account transferred, and I would be charged extra fees and continue to be charged after the service was ended, I never would have gone with Frontpoint. I strongly recommend to anyone not to use Frontpoint.

My wife read some good reviews about Frontpoint on the internet and we got them for our home security system. When I first started the service, I felt that the customer service representative was a little young and not quite sure how to interact with me. She was asking me how many services I wanted or how many windows there were. This is the first home security system that we put in place so I wasn’t sure on the details and I was looking for her directions to see how many sensors or what kind of devices Frontpoint would recommended. So that was a little bit of a problem but we got through it and it was no problem after that.

The installation took almost an hour, but the person helping me did a good job and showed me how to do it so it was relatively painless. We’ve been satisfied with Frontpoint. I have used their interactive features and I like it. It could be helpful in an emergency and though I haven’t used it very much recently, it’s a great feature. I've been using Frontpoint for my business' security for close to a year now. After being broken into twice, I got cameras. And then after getting broke into the third time, I got the alarm. We had challenges during the installation, but they were not that hard. The seals on the door didn't quite fit right and we improvised by adding a little foam to make them connect better.

Interactions with the Frontpoint team have always been real good. I have three big garage doors, and I talked to the Frontpoint team because we had a big windstorm, and when the wind gets up real strong, there'd be a false alarm. We've had some signals come through, and Frontpoint had to call the sheriff's office, and the people from the sheriff's office arrived before I did. I also like being able to access and control the system from anywhere. I routinely disarm the system with my phone, check to make sure everything's intact. I'm just looking to try not to get broken into again and I feel better with it. Overall, I've been real satisfied with Frontpoint.

And then if there was a way to make it where you could set it up and not worry about your pets setting it off because I've had my cat set it off. The installation process was a breeze and the Frontpoint team has always been very friendly when I've called and very patient when we've had the odd false alarm. The only thing is one of the last software updates was a bit strange. The way when you armed the system, the lights are completely different to the way it used to be so it's a bit confusing. I gave that feedback to Frontpoint and at least I felt like I was heard.

The mobile app is very important because sometimes when you leave your house, you don't really remember to put the alarm on and then you can remember in the car and do it. We've been traveling sometimes and it's really handy to be able to turn on the alarm or turn on the lights or off. So being able to control things on the phone is absolutely a critical part of why I like Frontpoint.

There's been a few instances of people taking packages from the front porch and a few months ago, there were a few break-ins into homes in the area, too, and so having a young child I wasn't going to move there until I had some sort of security system. Frontpoint makes me feel much safer especially at night. I would definitely recommend it, and I have recommended it to people that have asked. I'm really happy with Frontpoint's service so far. We purchased the Frontpoint system about a month before we moved into the house because we were trying to take advantage of a promotion that they were offering. The initial sales rep that I dealt with was very friendly and knowledgeable and their team called me every few weeks to see if we were ready to set up the system. They were really proactive with making sure that we had all the help we needed in order to set it up.

The installation was also very simple and foolproof. The only thing that we had a little bit of trouble with was we have a molding around our doors, so Frontpoint sent us more stickers to help the sensors align properly. Other than that, it was extremely easy. We use the cellphone app when we’re arming and disarming, and we’ve never had any issues with it. We get alerts sent to our phones if the system’s ever triggered. If a certain amount of time goes by and we haven’t set the system to alarm, it will send us a message reminding us to do that.

Overall we feel very safe and don’t have to necessarily worry if something were to happen. On the control panel itself, there's an emergency services button so if anything happened, we push that and it’s like a panic button for us. It’s a nice little peace of mind to have. My husband triggered the alarm once and Frontpoint was extremely fast with calling and responding to make sure if we needed help. It’s a great security system and we have actually recommended it to people who’ve also purchased homes.

I called at the beginning about some sensors and a motion detector which were too sensitive and they were dealt with pretty good so I'm happy with that. I use my mobile to control the system quite a lot and that one's easy, too. I don't have any issues with it. The only concern I have is the noise level. It seems not very loud if we stay on the second level and I think it can be louder. Other than that, Frontpoint is good and I'm happy with it. I feel much better when I am away because I have it.

Installing the Frontpoint system was very easy. I called them and they walked me through sensor by sensor and the activation. They made sure it was registering on their end and we kept the system going. I didn't have any issues ever since. The app on the phone is decent and I use it all the time. It has most of the controls that you would expect a phone app to have. I can't get to pulling the notification settings on the app but I can easily access that on the web portal.

The only downfall I've noticed is the appearance of the home panel that we have when it runs. We have a touchscreen so it's nice but it does have a lot of lag in the interface between touching it and the actual function. I need to put in my disarm codes and it shows up on the keypad. Then I hit the numbers and there's some lag in between and takes some time to catch up. But disarming through the app on my phone is almost instantaneous because my phone's doing all the computing. So the touchscreen needs to have more capacity and more processing power.

I got Frontpoint for my business and it was easy to install. However, my experience with them has been a little frustrating. They have the devices stuck on the wall, but one didn't stick and fell off so I had to glue them on. Then when the alarm went off, they called me and said, "Is everything okay there?" like I'm at home, but I was on a midnight run when that happened. They didn't seem to know what was going on, but they are fine when asking for help with setting up new devices. Although Frontpoint is definitely cheaper, my previous service from ADT is better because they were more towards businesses unlike Frontpoint, which is more for home use.

The Frontpoint device is easy to install. Just take the tape off the back, put the sensor next to the other sensor, go to the next door and it programs itself. So when I put it all up it's ready to go, then I turn on the other thing and it runs through a systems check and tests everything to make sure all those sensors that I put up are there. Then I start naming them so that the surveillance has the right name and that's it. If I need more stuff, I can order it. Customer service is more than willing to help. At first though, they were hyperactive on any alarms that I get like if I don’t turn the alarm off in a minute, they're calling the police. I had to calm them down and tell them to not call the police that fast because first of all, I don’t know what's going on. I got a teenager at home and it could be very much that he just walked out the door and didn’t turn the alarm off. Other than that, they have been really nice.

I feel more secure at night. My biggest fear was people trying to get in the house and sneak up on me before I knew they were there and now that’s not going to happen. If people break in the house, I'll know it. My wife and I have the app on our phones so we could both turn the system off and on whenever we need to. It works really well and has been useful, though I have to remember to do it. If I set the alarm for no delay, forget that I did that and walk in the door, the alarm would go off.

My experience has been good. The equipment works as advertised and the service is diligent. What I don't like is that I had to sign a three-year contract with them. I did it anyway but now I got bothered more so I wish I hadn't. I have to buy the contract out if I want to get out of it. There's another company called SimpliSafe which has the same kind of cellphone technology and doesn’t make me sign a contract. So if I had to do it all over again, I would probably go with that and am not gonna be signing a contract.

Everything is still held up there.

It's always been a great service. I can count three times where it’s been 4:00 in the morning and I’ve accidentally set the alarm off and nobody’s held it against me. I also had a toaster oven issue where a taco caught on fire and I couldn’t get to the phone in time. My girlfriend is second on the list, so Frontpoint called her. The guys at Frontpoint are pretty easy going. When I've called, they actually took care of me. They bend over backwards to take care of the customer. I haven't really installed it yet because doing the installation myself is not my cup of tea. I found Frontpoint online and they had higher rating than what ADT was getting. Frontpoint gave me an indoor camera. I hooked it up for a while, and it has night vision and records which is nice to have. I got online and it works as far as getting online and looking in the house. They’re a topnotch company in my book.

But I couldn’t really leave the system on because the little dogs would set it off in the hallways. I got Frontpoint because of my dogs, to know that they are safe. I don’t care if people would steal anything in the house, but I don’t want them to kill my dogs. Frontpoint seems to work, because I watch a lot of movies and those shatter things really go off quite a bit. The glass shatter works because I got it right around the TV and when there's some loud noise, it will say, “Sensors going off.” But I never hooked it up because it has to be pretty close to the door. If I would install it, it’d probably be a great product. They're a very good company.

I started with Frontpoint in January last year and the installation is good. It’s been there since then and the glue or tape they come with is pretty good. Lucky me, I never had to use it since I never had a situation in the house. Using automatic payments has always been the amount it is, no increase out of nowhere. Definitely, the first year was great.

When I got Frontpoint, I tested and activated it, and there hasn’t been an issue. They’re a good company. There’s a lot of responsiveness from their people. People will call and follow-up and see how I'm doing and see what’s going on. I haven’t turned it on so they were checking why I'm paying but not using all the advantages. So, it’s less of an act of a company that just goes out to please people. They are dedicated to getting the stuff done right so far. But that said, I haven’t had any reason to challenge an alarm that doesn’t really get used. We live in a reasonably safe and secluded neighborhood. We haven’t been robbed. So, there’s been no real way to test if it works.

After reviewing a large number of home alarm companies, I had decided to go with Frontpoint based on ratings and overwhelming, positive reviews. We were in the process of purchasing a new home and had ordered the system a few weeks from closing. I had asked the sales rep if this would be an issue. He confidently responded that this would not be an issue. He would set up a reminder to mail out the security system a few days prior to the closing. This didn't happen as I received an email while I was out of country traveling stating that the system had been delivered (2 weeks early). I had to email our realtor to make a special trip out to pick up the system on the front porch. Really, this was no big issue more than just inconvenient...

The next part is the part we are frustrated with. I was told that the way to go was with glass breakage units in the home. This sounded very reasonable. I even sent the sales rep photos of the layout of the home to get the right amount of monitors. He assured me that two would be sufficient. Alas, we would actually need eight to cover all the areas in the home since the glass breakage monitor only covers about 20 ft (line of sight) for the covered area. After reviewing the increased costs, I made the decision to change up to motion detectors as I could do the same thing with only three.

I shipped the glass breakage sensors back and received the new motion detectors. I had surveyed the areas that we would need them in and placed the first one at about eight feet up and had my wife start to walk down the hallway to see if the monitor would catch her movement. It didn't! So I called Frontpoint to get some assistance. It was then I was told that their motion sensors had to be set between 4-5 ft up to work properly. First of all, at that height, they could easily be bumped and knocked down. Secondly, they are not exactly aesthetically pleasing to look at.

I asked the gentleman that was helping me why other motion detectors are set up at a height that was unobtrusive. He stated that this was how Frontpoint's works. It is frustrating that the cost of the equipment and the fact that the customer service (they were always very pleasant to speak with) could not assist made my decision easy. I am going with another alarm company and getting a full refund from Frontpoint.

We live in a fairly stable neighborhood, but a family that bought a house across from ours had a break-in in the midst of their move. I thought it was time to do something and it was more for the fire protection than security itself that I wanted to get a system. I did an online search of security systems and looked at reviews. In our area, Frontpoint had very high reviews. Of 10 companies that were reviewed, it was number nine.

I got the stuff for the system and installed it. I had to do a couple of things extra, though, because my house is older and there were some issues with the tightness of doors. The biggest problem was that some of the doors did not allow for the adhesive to keep it on because they were old aluminum doors. I had to drill and put them in with screws. Their reps have all been really good. Every time I called for whatever reason, they were very helpful and they sent me stuff to try to mount the things before we had to say we needed to use the screws to put the system in.

I've been using Frontpoint for almost a year now. If I forget to set the alarm when I go out, I use the internet to set it from my cell phone. I have several notifications set up for it and I get various ones when it’s disarmed if I’m out, like if my wife disarms it. I like that access and control to the system. It gives me a message if the power goes out so it’s good to have. The experience with Frontpoint has been every bit of what I expected it to be.

I got Frontpoint at the beginning of this year. I called in when I was installing the system and the gentleman helped me with the whole process and after we were done, he tested each area to make sure the system's working and it was. I was out of town and before I left, I turned the security system on but the back door never activated then some weird flag code came up. I was already out of town for several days when I decided to look at it and noticed the weird wording. The security system was registering an event that should've required a phone call to me and it didn't. The alarm never triggered. If I had known within five minutes that the backdoor didn't execute the way it should have, I would've gone home and tried to figure out the problem.

I called Frontpoint and they said, "That means that the alarm for your backdoor, it has so much time to activate". They didn't have any additional explanation. If it can't activate, the house was vulnerable for that whole time and the system was being bypassed. I sent the incident to them and they didn't call me. That happened twice, so I'm not happy with the service and I unplugged everything. I don’t feel like the system is securing me. It’s not doing me any good right now. I keep getting emails that the system hasn't been active but no one has called me. I'm still paying my three-year contract, but I don't feel confident in their service at all.

In a previous home, I used ADT and growing up, my parents used ADT. We wanted to do our own installation in our current home so we got Frontpoint. We also have an older home and we had to pull out an old security system and all the holes and stuff on the wall were very intrusive. So, we went for something that was less invasive to the home structure. Additionally, even with the organizational discount with ADT, Frontpoint is still less expensive. We also paid ADT a sizeable amount to get out of our contract with them while with Frontpoint, there's no contract.

With ADT some of the services they have with municipalities that we were living in, they were not very responsive. My alarm system would go off and I was not getting a response from the city police or fire. I'm not sure if that had to do with ADT's side of things or if that was a consumer side of things, but I was never notified that that wasn't happening until I had a situation where my home needed police assistance and then they never came. We were not interested in going back to ADT.

The Frontpoint devices are very easy to install. The devices are kind of like 3M stick on's. For the most part in calling and working with their personnel, and their response call center has been very good. As we make adjustments to our call list based on our activities, they're pretty good with customer service in-house and then their response team is very good as well when you have an alarm go off.

The only challenge we've had is the motion sensors did not quite work the way that we had hoped they would work. We have cats jumping around and we were clearly told that the motion sensors would not react to like pet-sized objects moving around. So, it's a little bit different than working with like a dog in the home. We have found that the motion sensors being very responsive, our average-sized cats do set them off. So, that was disappointing but other than that, the installation and use of the device have been very good.

I have a much greater sense of security having Frontpoint in our house. We're believers in all of the components that are included in the security system, including the signs in our front yard, the secret on the door, and then setting our security system. If someone comes in this house, we have the chimes on the door so we know someone's entered the home. If someone's entered the home and they are not supposed to, we will know about that very quickly as well. We've been really happy with Frontpoint so far and I have recommended them to friends.

We use it all the time. Overall, it's been a positive experience. Unfortunately, we can't upgrade. They require us to purchase our cameras upfront and they don’t have a payment plan. The other companies we've looked at were all willing to take payments and put it over the first couple of months. Frontpoint is the only company that requires that we make a full payment for their cameras or they’ll add it to our plan. We didn’t like that, so we'll probably go to another company in the future.

But on the bottom of my control panel, the lights used to be red when it was armed. After they did a software update, the lights don't turn red on the bottom of my panel anymore. I've probably got to call them and go through it with a tech. But I've been satisfied with my system and I'm happy with it, so far. I don't have to worry if I go out somewhere.
