We bought the Frigidaire Affinity Washer and Dryer about 4 years ago. We have had some problems with the smell coming from the washer but found that leaving the door open helped. The problem we are now having is that the door is literally falling apart at the hinge area. Additionally, their plastic knobs are cracking and the plastic housing is cracking. I have not reached out to Frigidaire at this point but, needless to say that I would not recommend this brand based on my experience.

I bought a stacked washer/dryer combo unit and paid over $700. It made excessive noise during the spin cycle from day one. The company refused to do anything. The washer stopped spinning and it burned the motor three days before the warranty expired. After fifteen phone calls, two visits from repairmen, and three trips to the laundromat, Frigidaire tells me to keep waiting. I’m forced to file a small claims case.

I purchased a Frigidaire Affinity high-efficiency washer and dryer four years ago. After solving a few front loading issues, it worked fine until a few days ago when it started to leak. I had a repairman stop by and paid $45 for him to open it up and let me know the inner seal was bad and the repair cost is around $500. After contacting other repairmen, I confirmed his prices were correct and it is a very expensive part and a lot of labor will be involved. I would expect any washing machine to last at least 7 years to 10 years. This one was about 3 years and 7 months - just enough to last through any extended warranty. I contacted the manufacturer, but there’s no help. Do not buy Frigidaire (made by Whirlpool with Frigidaire’s name).

I purchased the Affinity washer and dryer in October 2010 and in November 2011, the lights on the settings and temps stopped illuminating. We have no idea what temps are being used as we wash or dry our clothes. I contacted the company in December 2011 and was told that since we did not purchase the extended warranty, we are out of luck. We spent $1,400 for garbage. We will never purchase any Frigidaire product again. I also just began noticing a foul smell coming from the washer detergent draw and picked up the tray only to find mold growing in there. Yuck!

My brand new washing machine is only 3 months old. I’ve been waiting 5 weeks so far for the company to repair it. Two repair companies later and the part is now on back-order. It might become available in 2 weeks, but that’s not a guarantee. This is crazy. I want to be contacted by someone who can offer a resolution. I think I should be reimbursed.

I purchased a front loading washer about three years ago. I noticed that the below was covered with mold, so that was replaced. A mold buildup started again and I have tried Aafresh, bleach, keeping the door open (which is not very safe with a toddler around), and whipping the machine down after the numerous amounts of loads of laundry that I do living with 4 young boys. The mold is still there, the smell has now traveled throughout our home. My child has allergies and asthma and has been in the hospital for several breathing treatments. I called the Frigidaire reps and all they could do was offer me a 40% discount on another product from them. My husband is in the military, currently serving in Afghanistan. We live on a very tight budget and to go and buy another machine is just not an option for us. I would just like to be refunded for my troubles.

We purchased a Frigidaire washing machine (the repair company seems decent) which had the drawer replaced. Now, I've had a third service call because the machine is worse, spewing water on my floor, and I am told that we need a new valve and drain pan. We are not able to use the washing machine and now have to wait on the part and another service call (#4). I spoke with customer service again and I asked if it was normal for these many issues and replacement parts for a brand new washing machine. The female agent said yes. I was shocked so I asked again, "It's normal for someone to purchase a new Frigidaire washing machine, have to take time off work for a possible four-hour service call and to spend more money at a laundry facility because the washing machine won't work?"
Needless to say, the agent quickly back pedalled on her confirmation. I am extremely frustrated at the lack of concern from the agent as to my plight and that I have to wait at least 7-10 days for the part to come in (it has already been a week to get the repairman out here). Is this company the only one that doesn't realize how much laundry there is to do for a family in this amount of time, especially since I've been unable to use my washer for more time than I have been able to use it due to it not working? I'm very concerned that this will be an ongoing problem and that like many other posts here, my warranty will simply run out and I'll still have a broken, very expensive, washing machine with a possibly damaged floor from water leakage. In short, grrr!

I purchased an Affinity washer and dryer in late 2006. I have had problems with both appliances. The washer smells bad all the time. Now, the dryer is overheating to the point that I cannot touch the top or back. I spent $170.00, having it cleaned and the venting checked. That did not work, and I paid $200.00 for a new thermostat and heater to no avail. It got even hotter tonight. I have unplugged it and called the service company back. I am very fearful of starting a fire. I will never purchase another Frigidaire product again. I have spent almost enough money to buy a new dryer. I am going to call Frigidaire in the morning, but I am sure they will not help me.

I reported the problem to Frigidaire and their comment was, "Our research has shown that an original defect in material or workmanship develop early in the life of an appliance." My husband and I bought the matching Frigidaire Affinity front load washer and dryer when we bought our first home in September 2010. The sales person talked us into them because of the steam cycles and the energy rating. I really loved them at first and then three months later, the motherboard on the washer started going out. One by one, each cycle has stopped working except for 'whites' and 'casual'.
All of my clothes have been getting little holes in them that get worse and worse each time. I have to wash them and the straps on tank tops and bras snap or panties get completely ruined. My husband's Army uniform has also been ripped in the wash causing us to replace them which is not cheap. The dryer completely died tonight and it gave the error code for the motherboard. At this point it is going to be expensive to fix both of them and we would rather just buy new and better machines that are a different brand.
What's the point in fixing something that is just going to keep breaking and costing us more in the long run? These machines are only 1 1/2 years old and they have caused me more stress than I would expect for the price we paid. We will never buy these machines again. They are horrible and the company is horrible for producing such low quality machines that ruin clothes and cost so much in the first place.

I purchased washer and dryer in 2010. The washer had to be replaced as every part was replaced, and it still ruined clothes. The dryer took over 1 1/2 hour to dry even tiny loads. The door would not close and stay closed. Then the replacement washer is worse than the first. Electrolux said they would send another over a month ago. Advised that it's no front loader. My clothes are ruined--gray/stiff/smelly/dirty.
I am 75 years old and have to take my clothes to the laundromat. Electrolux said that Howards (store of purchase) would not work with them to get me a replacement. Howards said that they are waiting for Electrolux to give them a credit so they can work with me. They said that Electrolux is not telling the truth. I was disrespected by the man who took over for the young lady who was trying to help me at Electrolux. These are the worst appliances I have ever had in my home. I will do whatever it takes to get Electrolux/Frigidaire to stand behind their product. I would never buy another of their products, small or large.

I have had the Frigidaire front load dryer for almost 4 years now. I am in the process of replacing a lot of my clothing because the dryer rips little holes in all of my clothes. After about 3 times of drying anything, you will begin to see little holes in your clothing. Then there are times that it makes this God awful noise like something is knocking in it. I have yet to figure that out. As soon as I can replace these machines (washer and dryer), I will not purchase this brand again. I am truly disappointed in this product and the amount of money it cost me to get it to find this out.

I purchased your Frigidaire front loading washer (GLTF2940FS) no more than 5 years ago. I have had a number of issues with it. Within the first two years whenever we used any cycle other than the permanent press load cycle, the cloths after spin were still completely soaked. It’s requiring me to run an additional spin only cycle. Our extended warranty covered that issue and the unit began working again. At least temporarily. Next issue was the rubber that seals the door. The function is to keep water in the machine. The rubber seal design creates a tight valley and due to this tight valley, it prevents the water from escaping the door; however, it also prevents the water that enters the valley from returning the wash area and eventually draining. So there is always water and moisture trapped inside the seal and like any thing that never dries, black mold begins to grow. The only way to remove the mold is soak towels with bleach and stuff them in the valley seal and leave it. That somewhat helps the issue.
On the 3rd year, the front panels assemble that makes up the detergent housing and the wash selector and the read out area began to crack starting from the soap area and has been traveling ever since towards the opposite side heading towards the dials. By year 4, rust begins to form on the bottom side of the door, which has lifted up the paint and is causing it to flake. On the base on the machine, under the door, you can see more rust is growing and lifting the paint, leaving a bumpy appearance and putting that area at risk for more flaked paint. More rush growth.
Also, the spin cycle no longer works again unless you use the permanent press load cycle. I haven’t called a repair tech since even if he fixes the spin, the rest will still look awful. I thought my extended warranty covered the initial issue of the spin cycle. It won’t, however, cover anything deemed physical damage. So the items exhibiting physical damage, as in the seal, the main control panel and any area that has rust, would not be covered.

I thought that Frigidaire was a good product but I see all these complaints online. Our 5 year old Frigidaire dryer caught on fire while in use. The fire investigator and ins. adj. both indicated they were not surprised by the manufacturer and stated they both (in separate conversations) see a lot of Frigidaires and to always look for the X on the back of the dryer, if it's there, don't buy it! All totaled the dryer caused about $10,000 worth of damage. It would have been more and could have destroyed our home, but my son and I were home at the time and contained it somewhat until the fire dept. arrived.

We bought an Affinity Front Load Washer and Dryer about 3 1/2 years ago. In that time the washer had to be repaired 3 or 4 times while it was under warranty, then several times thereafter by my husband. It had numerous problems with the door latch as well as several times becoming clogged and not spinning. The last time it quit we tried everything and can not get the washer to work. It won't even wash now. As a result of this I had to get another washer. I was fortunate that a friend had recently bought a new one and was willing to give me the old one. It is several years older (top load) but works great. Now I am stuck storing a washer that I am still paying for and can not use.

I purchased this pair in December 2009. Actually, I was looking at cheaper models but was talked into Frigidaire because of the energy-savings. Instead, I spent about $1200 for two bogus machines. The washer is a mess. I have had trouble with the door closing since day one and had to order a new part about a year later. It still drips water all over the floor when opened and is growing black mold all over the front gasket which cannot be cleaned off. The smell is ungodly when washing, even after cleaning. Not to mention, who ever heard of running a clean cycle on a washer? Seems to cancel out those energy savings.
Meanwhile, the dryer has been leaving black spots all over my clothing and I finally figured out why: it's melting the clothes. In the back of the drum there is a grate, which is covered with burnt material. Blankets, jeans and pajamas have been ruined. I called Frigidaire and they will not do anything because I don't have an extended warranty. I said this dryer is a fire hazard and that seems to override the need for any warranty. The customer service person continued to repeat the line about the warranty. The appliance store told me to continue calling and ** until I get results. Upon doing some research, I see nothing but bad things about Frigidaire products. Glad I'm not the only one, but I’m flabbergasted that a company cares so little about the shoddy products it sells and the consumers that buy them. I can't believe these appliances are this bad after only two years of regular usage. I will never ever purchase a Frigidaire appliance again.

I have never been put through so much stress over an appliance in my life. My washing machine died on 1-5-2012, I got on-line and had Gulf Voast appliance come and diagnose my machine "they are your certified repair company, and were very nice". I was told, a price and then I asked what about warranty, and they stated to try and get the part myself and call us back- so I did just that. Your company sent the incorrect part, it would not even fit my machine. After Gulf Coast came back out I called Frigidaire back to have a new part sent. I was told that Gulf Coast needed to call them so they could explain how to install, Gulf Coast stated they didn't later, then I did a 3 way call with everyone involved. The correct part was being sent and I was to send the wrong part back and my money would be refunded.
After not being with a washing machine for 4 weeks, and its only 3 years old and its just me and my wife, I was charged a re-stocking fee? Your customer service told me how your company works and you would have picked it up- funny thing is, that is not what I was instructed, or what happened.
I will never buy another Frigidaire product in my life- your company is disorganized and your customer service is horrible, but like I was told its not your fault you don't do it that way.

When we first purchased our house 6 years ago we purchased a Frigidaire side by side. Four months after we purchased it, the compressor went. They did fix it right away. 7 months ago we purchased a washer and dryer. Within 2 months of purchasing the washer, the door sensor broke; then 4 months later the shock went. When the repair man left, he said he would order the part which typically takes 2 days. We have now gone 3 weeks without a washer and now find out it will be another week before the part even gets to the manufacturer.
Frigidaire will not replace the washer; in fact, they informed me that they never replace items no matter how many times they break. They have no regard for the customer and don't seem to have any kind of resolution with items that are continually breaking. Never will I ever purchase another Frigidaire product and have passed that on to everyone I know. I have socks that last longer than these products; of course I can't wash any of them because my washer is a piece of **. If they had an office in the area, I would dump it on their front door. On another note, the casing on our oven broke and the whole touch pad needs to be replaced (another Frigidaire product).

I bought a Frigidaire Front Loader Washer in 2005. Since then, there has been excessive mold in the gasket of the washer despite constant cleaning and the use of products that clean washer mold (Smelly Washer). Our towels smell like mildew and mold and many have been discarded. I contacted Electrolux, a couple of years ago about this issue and they gave me cleaning instructions for getting rid of mold. These remedies are only temporary and the mold continues. I spend more time cleaning my washer than actually washing clothes in it. At this point, I would like to purchase a different washer but really don't have the funds for this and am angry this is my only remedy.
I contacted Electrolux again, last week about this issue. A representative of Electrolux sent me an email where she apologized for these issues but that their responsibility as a manufacturer has ended (and that surely I could understand this). Well, I don't understand this and based on the research, I've done on the internet on these defective washers, this is a major issue for many people.
In addition to the sale of a defective and unsafe product, Electrolux is responsible for causing health and environmental risks with this product. Mold causes serious health issues including allergic reactions, respiratory problems and other maladies. I would like to file a formal complaint against Electrolux as well as proceed with other legal actions. I'm an attorney (non-practicing) and feel this is a major injustice that needs to be addressed by the Consumer Affairs division. Thank you.

And I not only have the 3 year replacement plan, but I use all HE detergents and softeners as well as use the tabs they sold me to keep it clean and fresh. But none of it works. I've also had to have the trap worked on twice. It leaks occasionally and rips holes in our clothes and also the spin cycle ** up constantly. My Frigidaire front load washer and dryer, bought in July of 2008, started putting holes in my clothing about a year after we purchased them. Anything that is made of cotton is especially vulnerable. No, I do not use bleach, I do not wash my cottons with zippers or bras, and I do not over load my machine. It will occur with big loads or small loads. I also use high end detergent. It is not a particular brand of clothing, Gap, Target, Wal-Mart, Macy's, Banana Republic, and even Talbots, have suffered at the hands of my machine. At first I thought it was my washer. I washed a load of brand new cotton shirts, 6 of them, on the delicate cycle, and one appeared with two holes.
I then started putting all my soft cottons in a laundry bag, and hang drying them. What a pain! The holes were less, but still present in the clothes that did not go in the laundry bag. Recently I washed some t-shirts in the laundry bag, and took them out, and dried them in the dryer, and they are full of small holes. Front, back, arm, there is no rhyme or reason where the holes appear. Recently, my husbands gym shorts, made of very strong fabric, had a bite taken out of them by my dryer. The cherry on top is that the washer always smells like mold, because the water never fully drains out. I want my old top loader, and my cheap reliable dryer back! On June 26th, while my daughter was changing after work, she put the load of clothes in the dryer that I had started before leaving to go to physical therapy. Twenty minutes after arriving, I was alerted to a fire at my apartment by my hysterical daughter.
After the insurance company took the dryer and investigated the cause, it turns out it was a faulty dryer. The insurance company and I are suing them due to the fact that they denied culpability in the fire, as well as they will not cover the insurance claims. My guess is that it continued to fill with water until the weight opened the door, creating a flood and continued to run all night.
I have left the machine plugged in but the water turned off. The machine seems to start and stop on its own and the door is always in lock down mode. Through all this, I have had to move out of my house as all my flooring needs to be removed and replaced. We put in bras, cami tops, the baby's blanket sleepers and onesies, my husband and daughter's t-shirts, my shirts, towels and wash rags. They were being destroyed. The repairman said we'd have to use dryer bags. But I recently found out the tumbler is off on dryer. It destroyed approximately 6000 dollars worth of clothes. I found out the movers must have dropped it and my fridge, as they have great, big indentations in them. I don't like to complain, but my husband and I paid full price for all these appliances.

I bought my Frigidaire Affinity front-load washer about 1-1/2 years ago. After just six loads of laundry, it broke! The store was going to send a repairman, but they did not want to replace the unit even though it was within a couple of days from receiving it. The washer will just quit during one of the cycles and go on pause mode. If you "unpause" it, it starts again and within five minutes, it's back on pause. We had to threaten the store with picketing and news coverage unless it was replaced. Within one day I had a new one. Now that the warranty is out, it does it again - a different washer but same problem.

We purchased the same model and guess what happened last night? It got hot enough to melt two 1/4 inch thick, acrylic cutting boards, the lower spray arm, and something, I'm not even sure what it was, maybe tongs; it was unrecognizable! Stay way from this junk.

He said that he couldn't find a problem. He felt that I was 'overloading the dryer'. I told him that it happens whether it is a small load or a full load, if it has straps, then it's ruined.
He said the only way to correct the problem is a garmet bag, which tends to just ball things up and they come out all wrinkled up. So every single wash I have to go through all my daughter's laundry to pull out anything that may have a strap and be very careful with them. Solution, I don't think so for the money I spent!

Three years ago, I bought a front load washer and the dryer in Costa Rica where I live. I loved the design and how easy it is to use both appliances. Suddenly, a month ago, the dryer stopped working. The technician charged us almost US$ 250 to replace the main card and I was amazed that replacing a card could cost almost a third part of what I paid for it. This week was the washer, so I call again for technical support and this time I'm totally amazed. Turns out that I have to replace both cards of my washer for a total amount of almost $700, same of what I paid for it.
I cant believe that after only 3 years both appliances stopped working almost at the same time and for the same reason: damaged card. I had a GE washer for almost 7 years and never ever had any trouble with it. The only reason I decided to sell it was because I need and washer and a dryer that could be place one in top of the other. Now, I regret it! The technician said it is very common in Frigidaire front load washer and dryer. So, I believe you should really make an effort to provide better products, unless their business is selling parts. I'm so disappointed with the brand that I will not ever buy it or recommend it to anyone. I wish I could just send them the tons of dirty laundry, so you can help me with it.

We purchased a Frigidaire Affinity washer and dryer set in March 2006 thinking we were getting a good product. We were sadly mistaken. From day one we have had problems with the lint trap in the dryer eating our clothes. Anything with a strap gets hooked on the trap and then the garment spins around until the strap breaks or the garment rips. I've even had cases where it tangled up other items and damaged those. I have resorted to hanging my tank tops and other similar items to air dry because even the delicate item dryer bags get caught. Why they wouldn't put the lint trap down farther like a normal dryer is beyond me, but I won't be purchasing another dryer without looking at the lint trap location ever again. I've lost hundreds of dollars worth of clothes over the years which is ridiculous if you ask me.
As far as the washer goes, I thought we were doing OK at first but after eight months we got an error code and had to call for service. The pump had gone out and needed to be replaced. We didn't worry too much since it was covered under the warranty, but we should have taken the hint and looked at the extended warranty they sent us when the time came. Less than a month after our warranty went out another error code came up and the door on the washer locked. We couldn't even get it to open, even after we unplugged it for a while. We ended up spending $360 to replace the control board and got nothing from Frigidaire but "Sorry, your warranty is up." in response to our calls. In the last couple of years we've noticed a moldy, disgusting smell coming through in our clothes, even after they were washed, and the washer smells horrible if it's been sitting closed and unused for any period of time.
To top it off, the boot warped and an error code popped up earlier this week so we are without a washer again. We thought we could replace the boot and it would resolve the issue so we spent $135 for the part and installed it but the error code is still there. After researching it further we found that the code is actually a drain pump relay error on the control board or it could be that a wire is off of the pump. The solution? Fix the wire or replace the control board. Another $360 (assuming the cost hasn't gone up) on top of the $135 we've already spent for this current repair, add to that the $360 we spent the last time this happened and we could have purchased a different washer from a more reliable company. I will never purchase from Frigidaire again and can't believe that there hasn’t been a lawsuit filed against this company yet. They are obviously selling a bad product and not doing anything about fixing problems that they know are there, costing consumers thousands of dollars. If I could go back in time I'd keep my 20 year old top loader. It worked fine, we just thought that it would be nice to upgrade since we had just started a family. Never thought we would have found ourselves downgrading instead.

I spoke with Sears and they directed me to call the manufacturer. I did this and a repair man came out on November 3, 2010, he said it was a control board that had gone back as well as a switch.
He returned on November 8 to repair the items and the washer then gave another "error message". With further investigation the repairman noticed that the belt had frayed because it was wrapped around the motor. He had to go out to retrieve a belt, returned and the washer then gave another "error message". The repairman said that he had to order another control board for another part of the washer. This I feel is uncalled for with a washer that is less than 6 months old.
The washer was finally repaired on November 9, 2010. I have a family and was without a washer for a week and a half. My parents spent good money for a washer/dryer pair that they felt would last a whole lot longer than 6 months. This washer is a lemon! I cannot believe you would advertise and put out merchandise that would give a customer this kind of service. The repair service called me the next day and said that Frigidaire said that the warranty had worn out in June of 2009.
How could that be when I received it in June of 2010? Is there any recourse for this time of aggravation, is the product what you advertise....No it is not. I am very unhappy not with Sears, not with the repairman who tried desperately to repair the machine but with the label "Frigidaire". Sixteen months ago, I purchased an expensive washer-dryer Affinity series set from Frigidaire. I can provide the model and serial numbers if needed. Within 4 months, the latch on the washer as well as the boot that keeps water in the machine and prevents it from leaking were broken. I had it fixed under warranty. However, the washer kept leaking. Since I have a mold allergy, I have to mop up puddles every time I wash. On Oct. 18, I called customer service who kept referring me to the extended warranties dept. including the individuals mentioned above. Recently, the leaking from the washer became profuse, the latch on the washer was once again broken and moreover, the fast spin cycle (computerized) was not working which gravely increases my energy costs in drying. In addition, the latch on the dryer was broken.
I brought in a repair guy at my expense ($95.35) to assess the situation and see if anything could be done to rectify the situations like balancing the machines or whatever. He told me that in his experience Frigidaire products were very poor and my washer in particular appeared to be a lemon. The fact that the boot broke after 4 months and then again in less than one year indicated that mere repairs would not solve the problem. I called Frigidaire customer service once again who once again referred me to extended warranties. At this point, extended warranties questioned/needed to research my warranty agreement. This took an entire day and they were supposed to call me back that day but did not.
Yesterday, Oct. 19, 2010, I called back Lastacia and she appeared to not even remember the case and phone calls from the previous day. She was extremely rude and I had to register a complaint with her supervisor ,Aylaya **. One of these items included Lastacia's refusal to give me a number where I could register a complaint with higher level executives at Frigidaire, a number I found myself after a 3 min. search on the internet. At this point, even though my machine had already been repaired under Frigidaire's warranty and I have in my possession an offer to renew my warranty stating that the renewal date is 11/8/10, ** denied that I had an existing warranty.
This is less than two years from the date of purchase and as I read through the warranty contract in my possession, I pointed out that the most expensive of the repairs, the computerized fast spin cycle, was covered for five years under the initial purchase warranty. This she chose to ignore and said I was taking up her time. She indicated that customer service had made "an equipment compensation" for me. I called customer service and found out that the "compensation" covered only the two latches and the boot for the washer. I called the repair businesses they referred me to in the Philadelphia area and got estimates of the repairs for these items, $200.00 This estimate did not cover the expenses I would be incurring to fix the fast spin cycle.
At this point, I have decided that it is equally (or less over time) expensive and less hassle to purchase a standard (not state of the art washer) $523.56 from Whirlpool .At the very least, I would like other consumers to become more aware that Frigidaire products are of very low quality and their warranty contracts are not honored, as in the case of my fast spin cycle problem.

The dryer was replaced and we thought everything would be fine. No, I was wrong. The lint trap in the dryer catches anything with strings or silky material and twists it until it ruins it. I've even had towels and washcloths caught. That's not all. Today I went to use my washer and as I removed the load, I had just washed. I noticed the rubber seal (called a boot) that runs from the drum to the outer edge of the machine is tore completely through.
All of the water of course is on the floor (which is carpet). I called the store where I purchased it and they said it can be replaced. We purchased a washer/dryer set (stackable) in Oct. 2005. Since the purchase, if I put any item with strings/loops/straps, etc. into the dryer, the defective lint trap "twists" the item & either breaks the strap (from twisting so tightly) or stretches out the item, so it is no longer wearable.
Today, I opened the dryer & my whole load was twisted together because of a string on a shirt. I took pictures of the last two loads that had issues & finally called Frigidaire. The rep told me that because my service warranty is expired, Frigidaire is not liable for anything. I told him it is not a warranty issue; it is a defect in the design of the lint trap. The lint trap is at the bottom in the front of the dryer (inside) & it is square, allowing for things to get "caught" on the trap. If it were a rounded trap, the clothes would just "slip" over the trap & not get entangled.
I asked if they had a better designed trap that they might replace the one I have with & he said no. So, I asked if Frigidaire would send me a new dryer (one that doesn't have the lint trap on the inside) & he laughed. He said that it is a warranty issue & I know it is not. He then told me that the instruction manual says to place items that have strings (undergarments, etc) into a mesh bag before putting in the dryer to avoid this issue. Mesh bags have string! If I did that, my laundry would always turn out the way it did today (10/8/10). So, my husband is now forced to go buy a newer dryer (when mine is probably capable of lasting us another 10-15 more years; it's a good dryer overall) that we shouldn't have to do.

My dryer has torn so many tops; the straps get stuck in the lint trap & rip the straps up. My comforter has been burned. It has just ruined too many of really expensive clothing and bedding.
I've called Frigidaire; they told me they need 3 Call tickets & if it can't be fixed they will replace them. I have had two repair men come out & replace the speed control on the washer & to tell me that they need to come off the pedestals to fix the shaking. So we did that and it still didn't fix the problem. So we put them back on and still the same problem.
Another guy came out and replaced the lint trap; that only worked for a month. Then my warranty was up so I had to get an extended warranty. So I called them back; now, they're telling me I need to call another repair man to come look at them again & they need three more repairs in order to replace them for me. I purchased a Frigidaire washer and dryer in 2007 and the washer never worked properly. The clothes come out with a funny smell and the washer smells as well. Clothes would be sopping wet after the spin cycle was done, which would cause clothes to take twice as long to dry or we would put them through the spin cycle again. A lot of waste of electricity and aggravation. Then the tub broke apart and smashed the sides of the washer out it looks like it exploded and that was what it sounded like when it happened, like a bomb went off.
We went into the garage after hearing the loud bang followed by slamming sounds to find our washer pushed way out from where it was and the sides are bulging out like it was going to pop. I never expected to have such a short life for a washer and it to break like that for no reason, even though it never did work correctly.
I spent a lot of money for something that only lasted three years. I should have kept my old one. I had it for over nine years and gave it away to get this set. The people I gave it to are still using it. Also, when the washer broke and went banging across the floor, it caused the washer to slam into the dryer which was sitting next to it causing multiple dents in the dryer. I’m very upset to find so many of the same complaints from people who experienced the same malfunctions in these dryers. I feel like I purchased a faulty product as did so many others. Times are very tough to spend money like that and be out of luck after only three years. Horrible. Horrible experience. I spent $1800 for the set, now what? Never again, Frigidaire.

We purchased a front loading Frigidaire washing machine seven years ago. We are a retired couple so it doesn't get used a lot. It gets "stuck" in the cycle and the bearings are going out. We called a repairman and he told us to just run it until it dies and buy a new one as it would cost as much as a new one to repair this one. Because the bearings are going out, it is extremely noisy. We have to close two doors between us and the washer to reduce the noise enough to be able to stand it. The Frigidaire customer service representative indicated that it probably should last longer but there is nothing they can or will do about it.

I have lost approximately 20 American Eagle shirts and 10 Aeorpostale shirts to-date from the dryer vent-lint bin side grabbing the straps and the shirts continuing to roll round-and-round until they snap or I have to cut out when I open dryer and find them attached to vent screen bin's end. I've only had the dryer for 2 years.
This is the story of Anna of South Portland, ME, July 1, 2010:
Any clothing with thin straps or cords gets caught in the dryer lint vent and gets wrapped up and torn. I contacted the company which claimed to have never had a complaint about this before. I was told that the only way to be reimbursed for the damage to all of my clothes was to take photos and provide receipts from when I originally purchased the clothes! The warranty repair service came on 7/12/10, and ordered the control panel. The control panel arrived the next day. The repair company came two weeks later (7/23/10). There was another problem - had to order new motor. The motor is back ordered and will not arrive until early August. I have spent over $30 at laundromat for wash for 4 people. The service tech said the warranty for these new parts would not extend from time of installation.
That warranty was for one year from date of purchase. I want a new machine. This is a quality control problem. I replaced a washing machine that was over 20 years old and working. I have sent several emails to Frigidaire with no response. I have spent over $30 at the laundromat and several hours composing emails to the company to no avail.

Frigidaire Gallery Front load Dryer has design flaw. The dryer drum is held up at the door area by guides and a felt gasket. Wet clothes weigh the drum down compressing the gasket which does not return to its normal shape. This leaves a gap at the bottom by the lint trap. Clothes slide into this gap and are pulled up around to the top of the drum at which point the drum is tight against the gasket. Clothes twist and become ruined when they reach the top. The gasket and guides have been replaced multiple times.

I purchased a Frigidaire Gallery Dryer from Lowes in about Fall 2008. Since the purchase of my dryer (when it was brand new), it has ruined my clothes. There are two issues with my dryer that Frigidaire decides to ignore since my one-year warranty is up even though this has been a problem since I bought it. The first issue is that clothing, such as bras, thin strapped tanks, etc. get caught on the lint trap and twist until they become broken. The second issue is that clothing with buttons or snaps get caught in the drum where they twist until they snap. Not only does it ruin my clothes, but also I have to figure out how to get the button out of the drum.
This dryer has ruined at least two garbage bags of clothing. There were many things my infant daughter did not even get to wear. When I called Frigidaire, they said that they would purchase replacement parts if their authorized "fix it" guy decided there was a problem. The problem is not a part? If you buy a new lint catcher, it is still going to be in the same place and catch my clothing. If you put the exact drum in there, it will do the same thing as well. Like I said, it has been like that since it was new! My sister, who has one as well has the exact problem, so what are the odds? I own a Frigidaire washer, dryer, dishwasher, stove, refrigerator and microwave. I will never buy another Frigidaire appliance ever!

We have a Frigidaire Affinity Washer that is just 2 years old. Three months ago, on March 17, it wouldn't spin or drain. We spent $471 to replace the water pump, which the technician said had been damaged by debris. On June 14, we had the same problem. This time, the technician just cleaned the pump which he said had a sock caught in it. Although the pump was still under warranty (just barely) the service call cost 199.00 for labor. Last night, the washer failed, again, with the same problem. It won't spin or drain. Although it's only been 9 days since the last repair, the service company says that they cannot exchange the broken water pump for a new one, so, if we choose to have the machine repaired, it will be about $500.
Here's my question. From reading many posts, this seems to be a pretty common problem with this washing machine. Why is debris - or a sock for that matter. Able to get to the water pump so easily? Isn't this a design flaw that Frigidaire should own up to and provide a retrofit at no cost to those of us who are having this problem with their product?
I have had Kenmore's and Maytag's that have lasted for many, many years. In fact, a Maytag that I gave away just had a 20th birthday and is still going strong. When I mentioned this to the Frigidaire service manager, he shrugged and said that my Frigidaire is a "more delicate machine." I bought this machine because it was a highly rated heavy duty piece of equipment. I either have a lemon or these machines are built to break after two years of use. Either way, I have already paid for this machine twice, between the purchase price and the repairs. I'm frustrated and angry. We paid $889 for the machine and have paid $670 in repairs, so far. The current repairs are estimated at $500, so we either repair the machine or buy a new one. Neither is a good option.

We purchased a Gallery Series electric dryer, and it has to be the worst dryer I've ever owned. Any item of clothing with cords, straps or extra "bits" end up getting caught on the corner of the lint trap, and the dryer twists them until whatever is caught breaks. It also does the same thing with T-shirts that have anything printed on them. I've resorted to hanging all T-shirts on a clothesline, as well as any tank tops, athletic pants or shorts with drawstrings, etc., negating the reason for having a dryer in the first place. This dryer has ruined literally hundreds of dollars worth of clothing (including yet another brand new pair of shorts with drawstrings that managed to slip by me today), much of it only worn once before being ruined. In addition, the dryer tends to wrinkle almost anything that is put in it, even though it has "press saver" settings. If I had known how horrible this dryer was, I would never have bought it.

Okay, the propane gas might be low in the tank but not out the stove which is also a Frigidaire.
So I did not touch the dryer until the propane company filled the tank. It sat for maybe 3 days. When I turned it on, the same thing happened--it makes a buzzing noise. I called Frigidaire and they were happy to give me the name of a local 50 miles away repair service. And since my dryer is just about 2 years old, I have to pay to fix it myself. The last dryer I had which was also made by this company worked fine for 15 years with 3 growing messy children in the house. This one has had very light use and it is history in less than 2 years. After the 2nd Frigidaire dryer FEQB4000FS unit has caught on fire for the 2nd time, I decided to confirm via Internet that the problem is not due to our 6 feet+ ventilation run or 3 cats. We had presumed our problem was unique and due to the condo design, or perhaps the hair from the cats although you would expect hazards such as these would be communicated to consumers prior to purchase. Since the units are stackable, we cannot replace one or the other with a different brand, so to get away from this nightmare requires a significant investment. The first dryer had caught on fire 3 times or so. We have become cognizant of our inability to leave the home while drying clothes, and the exercise of disassembling the dryer from the washer, wife holding fire extinguisher in 1 hand while I pull the top off to determine our danger has been one which we have perfected.
Unfortunately, after a complete tear down of the 1st dryer following the 2nd fire things were never the same. There was too much wobble, which is what causes the problem with these units turning themselves on and off at random. So now our 2nd unit is catching fire and time the heat comes on I can feel it in the very back top of the machine. I'm going to keep trying to clear out whatever it is that is causing the fire, hopefully, without setting the neighborhood ablaze or having to blow $1200+ on replacing the whole ** thing.
I can confirm that mostly everything I have read on this site is exactly what we have been dealing with. Following this recognition, I think we can make the following points: (1) Both units have a problem where if you push down hard on the top front of the machine it will result in the unit thinking you are turning itself on or off. If any screws are loose or if the mounting is not perfectly tight, you will swear they are possessed.
If not tended to, this problem will eventually become permanent regardless of mounting issues. (2) The washer always has water remaining in the front well after a cycle. If you do not leave the door open when not in use and make sure to dry as well, you will have mold problems. (3) The dryer has gaps in the top where the drum meets the front of the machine. I feel it is safe to assume that this part of the machine which is guaranteed to chew up bras is also the culprit responsible for lint, dust and other particles which are supposed to be caught in the trap to accumulate in areas of the machine which heat. (4) There is a metal ring at the back of the machine which covers the wire responsible for heating. The wire ring heats up just like an oven burner, it will glow red and attempt to regulate heat according to the High, Med or Low setting. This is where the particles accumulate and there is no way to clean it out thoroughly, either call a repairman 4 times a year or attempt to burn it off without taking your house down with it.

I purchased a new frontload washing machine in January 2009. I loved how it performed; it even save me drying time, but it was not more than a month before it did not work. Then the repair man came out time after time after time. Finally, they replaced the machine. The second machine was no better, and out of frustration, I got rid of the machine. $1300 down the drain. But there is more.
The repair people who came to my home accused me of all kinds of things. "It has too much soap in it." Of course, it had soap in it. I put the clothes in to wash, added the correct amount of soap, and the machine did not work. So I took the clothes out. The machine had not gone through the cycle, so the soap was still in the machine. Yet, this bozo was willing to accuse me of using the wrong amount of soap and if that was not enough, said it was the wrong brand. The first repair man was at least a little subtler in his accusations.

I purchased a washer/dryer 8/19/08 which has proven to be one of the worst decisions I have ever made. The washer (ATF6700FS) has had the door hinge repaired twice and needs to be repaired again. The hinge obviously is too weak to handle the weight of the door and eventually the door begins to sag resulting in a bad connection when closed resulting in a sound similar to a 747 taking off in my laundry room!
I purchased the extended warranty on the washer because I know this will continue and I hope that the recall or class action suit will hurry up and come on. This washer is waiting to break. The dryer GLEQ2152ES is the worst of the two though. There is a small gap between the tub and the housing of the dryer that catches strings, straps, small washcloths (you name it) and results in torn up clothes and a loud thumping during drying. I mentioned this to the repair guy and he said "you need to get a lingerie bag for the small things", excuse me, is a wash cloth something that should have to be put in a mesh bag to be laundered? My son is 6'4" and 230 lbs. His sweat pants won't fit in a mesh bag! We have ruined numerous pairs of shorts, sweats etc (Nike, under armor) and they are not cheap.
I also am concerned about how hot the dryer gets at times. We are faithful to clean out the lint filter and keep hose unrestricted. You can barely put your hand on top of the dryer after drying a heavy load (towels) because it is so hot. This is an accident waiting to happen and I know somebody will have a dangerous fire as a result of using this appliance. Never leave home with this dryer running or run it after you go to bed! Do not buy this!

It took only 15 minutes for an authorized repair person to tell me that my Frigidaire Stackable Full-Capacity washing machine is condemned. The gasket is broken and is leaking lubricant which will cause the bearings to dry and break. This causes the entire machine to break down and start leaking water. It is a manufacturing defect originating from the factory. It means that the cost to repair is well over the amount that it will cost for me to replace it.
And, since I purchased a stackable unit, I will have to pay extra to replace a dryer unit that, at the moment is working and does not need repair. Are Frigidaire parts made of plastic, glue and tape? My conclusion, since this unit is only 3-1/2 years old, and I paid $730 for it and used it maybe, an average, 1 to 2 times a week for light and normal washing, is that I absolutely will not ever purchase another Frigidaire product again as long as I live. I will make every effort that whatever "name brand" is stamped on a product I plan to purchase, that I will make sure it is not manufactured by Electrolux or Frigidaire, since the company does not stand by their parts, labor or products to last longer than 2-3 years, under normal care and usage. And, there is no care for their customers to be satisfied. I was told that my unit was too new to be warranted. Basically what this means is that Frigidaire sells products so substandard now that they cannot stand by them and provide consumers with any parts if they fail. "Give us your money and you are on your own, so good luck", is Electrolux's, (manufacturer of Frigidaire), message to the customer.
I have spent countless hours babysitting my washer because it was too noisy to leave alone during a normal wash cycle. I spent 5 hours of paid vacation time out of my day from work, and also paid $62 for a scheduled repairman to come to my home to find out why my washer was knocking within 15 minutes. And now, I have no washing machine. I lost a total of $900+ and will now have to lose more valuable time to locate a new washer and dryer, purchase it, and schedule to take additional time off to have it delivered and installed properly. Why is this happening? Can't the government do anything to step in and help consumers who are taken by companies who manufacture substandard goods to sell and are getting away with it?

These appliances, along with four other appliances (thank God not Frigidaire), were purchased at Blonders Discount Appliance Center in Levittown, PA. The washer/dryer and two pedastools total cost was $2,177.76. In addition, we purchased an extended five year parts and labor warranty at a cost of $129 per appliance.
Within six months, the washer would quit prior to the cycle being completed. There was no rinse or spin cycle, leaving a pool of water in the base of the drum. Countless parts ordered and service calls by A&E Service in Pennsauken, NJ in an attempt to fix the problem, were not only inconvenient, but ineffective. Parts included a heating element, a new pump, a new motor and bellows. Finally, Frigidaire agreed to replace the original washer. My problem would be solved! No!

He thought it was the lock on the washer door, but decided he would not even touch the appliance until I had a separate circuit placed in the laundry room. For 25+ years, I have used this outlet to both wash and dry clothes without any problems.

He also said this was a common problem with Frigidaire washing machines. This was subsequently reconfirmed by a salesman at Silver City, as well as a second appliance repairman.
1) A comparable machine is $600.00 plus tax and installation, so I still have to pay a minimum of $435.00 to replace a washing machine that is only two years old.
2) Since Frigidaire washing machines have a history of breaking prematurely. I am at risk of being in this exact situation again two years from now if I repurchase another one.

He also said that this is a very common problem with Frigidaire washing machines. This statement was reconfirmed twice, once by another repairman and once from a salesman at the Silver City, the store I purchased it from.
1) A two year old machine broke first place.
2) The repair is more than a new machine making it worthless.
3) This is a well known, common problem that Frigidaire has ignored.
The proposed resolution by Frigidaire was 30% off a new Frigidaire product. Let's do some math and make a logical conclusion. The credit calculated to $165, a new, comparable washing machine costs on average $600. The net benefit to Frigidaire is an additional sale of $435.00. I, on the hand, would have paid $435 to replace a washing machine that was only two years old. I am at a loss as to what the benefit to me, the customer is. Since I was not able to draw a logical conclusion as to how their offer is in the best interest of the consumer, I have opened it up for discussion on Facebook, Twitter and every blog regarding appliances I could find. Now, thousands upon thousands of people in cyberspace know my experience and look to purchase their next washing machine from a different manufacturer who produces quality products.

Because of the high cost of these items and such short usage out of them, I am not able or willing to purchase a new set at this time. My last washer/dryer lasted more than 15 years.

I bought a Frigidaire gallery series washer and dryer set on 10-11-08. Today is 12-14-09 and last week, my washer started making noise. It has dirty water in it and smells worse than John **'s basement! I have read on this website a bunch of the same problems people are having with this machine. I called Frigidaire's customer service line and reached a third world country overseas helpless hotline. At first, I taught the guy was trying to sell me a slurpee but listening closer to his terrible broken English he basically said I'm out of luck and there's nothing they can do for me because the washing machine went out of warranty less than two months ago; yes, two months!
Luckily, I am an auto mechanic and have knowledge of mechanical things so I started inspecting the washing machine and found that the water pump is making a horrible noise and is very hot. I went to the authorized Frigidaire parts store and found the pump for $116.95. I googled the part number (137108100) and found the part much cheaper on every website, cheapest being $54.99. Frigidaire's parts place was the most expensive. So not only did I overpay for a junk machine ($799 just for the washer), they want to overcharge me for the part! I am ordering the part today (not from Frigidaire!) so I pray that is the problem. These were the first new appliances I bought for my new house and I was going to buy all Frigidaire appliances for my house, and I am so lucky I did not! I would never buy another Frigidaire product again!

I purchased a Frigidaire stackable washer/dryer combo in 2007. The rubber ring around the dryer slowly fell down from the dryer so that when the dryer was running, it was metal on metal. There was a metal clanging sound that we would hear when the dryer was running, but we didn't pay any attention to it. Eventually, the metal on metal caused sparks which ignited with the lint inside the unit and the dryer caught fire. Thankfully, my roommate noticed the smoke and put the fire out.

I purchased a brand new Frigidaire stack washer/dryer from Lowe's of Fashion Valley on May 2, 2009. Within days of its delivery, I had problems with it periodically not spinning, not tumbling or not completing a wash cycle. I called a service tech out on June 3, 2009. He was very kind but stated all functions were working properly and that these front loader washers have a mind of their own. I knew things weren't working properly, but how could I argue with the expert? In all fairness to the tech, these problems would only manifest themselves intermittently. So I dealt with these problems mentioned above for 6 months, thinking that I'm the problem; constantly being told by friends that I either didn't have a full load or that the load was too full.
During this time, I went through numerous bottles of detergent (not to mention clothing damage and fading from sitting in pools of water). I also used way too much water and electricity by having to do loads over and over again thinking, "OK I did it wrong and I'll get it right this time." Well eventually it just stopped working altogether and upon the tech's second visit on June 3, 2009 (I was too embarrassed to call sooner), it is determined that I need a motor and speed control. Wait, didn't I just say that I purchased a brand new Frigidaire stack washer/dryer? Although this is not a MasterTech issue per se, their customer service started out OK but then deteriorated after the second or third call.
I was told by Mark (the tech) to ask for Elvia. Well getting to her was like trying to get through to Fort Knox. Am I upset? You bet! Upset at Lowe's for taking 15 days to deliver my unit when promised 7 days or less. Upset at Frigidaire for supplying me with a substandard unit and MasterTech for making it difficult for me to speak to whomever I was told to ask for. If there was such a thing as a rewind button, this would be one of those times that I would use it. I'd probably go to Home Depot or Sears and I would certainly purchase something other than a Frigidaire.

My daughter and I purchased a pair of front load Frigidaire washer and dryer in 2007. The dryer model number is FEO1442ES0. Since purchasing the dryer, we noticed every time we use the dryer, it would destroy multiple pieces of clothing. It was mysterious since we had no idea what was happening until recently we discovered inside the dryer just under the lint screen is a huge gap about inches wide and the clothing is getting caught and would shred.
There were so much pieces of clothing inside this gap that it is scary. We contacted the customer service number for Frigidaire and received no help, just the runaround. I thought I was alone until I found this website. Can anyone help us with some kind of class action suit? I cannot afford to go buy a new set of washer and dryer. I am concerned that the dryer has been compromised and the pieces of clothing may cause a fire. We have lost more than $1,500 worth of clothing. The problem is we did not realize the dryer is defective and did not keep the damage clothing until today when we decided to keep them for reference.

I own a Frigidaire full size tumble action washer that was bought on 07/15/08. The mold smell is unbearable despite trying several different fixes. There is dark mold on the rubber gasket in several spots and it does not wipe away. I also pulled back a small area where the gasket is affixed to the machine and it's disgusting. This cannot be cleaned without removing the gasket, which I'm afraid to do. It sounds like there are several complaints about the same issue, but the company is ignoring it. I have the manual in front of me and the only thing it says is, "Periodically, wipe dry the folds in the bottom of the flexible gasket to remove lint and other debris." Sure, it works for lint and debris, but not for mold. I've followed suggestions to keep the door open when not in use, but then the whole house stinks. It’s $550 on a washing machine that will likely make my clothes dirtier.

I am so glad to see so many similar complaints to mine. Whenever I called Frigidaire, they swore no one else had ever reported this problem. I have a Frigidaire front-loading tumble action washer and have had a problem with the gasket getting moldy and black since I bought it. I have complained via phone but have never received a satisfactory solution or answer about how to correct such a defective design. Because of the way the gasket folds, it is impossible to wipe dry the inner folds of the gasket, which turn black and moldy. The crack on the outer edge of the gasket also gets black and no matter how much I wipe it off, the paper towel comes away black. If an article of clothing touches it, it can leave a black mark on that. I’m really frustrated. My husband is very allergic to mold and I worry that the mold is making his problems worse. I can’t imagine how Frigidaire could design such a faulty product and take no responsibility for it.

I have requested the unit to be replaced as it is defective, but have received poor service/results from the Frigidaire service dept. They won't put me through to the replacement department as that is "not their policy". I have only been able to speak with the one person who answers the calls and to their supervisor. I am very frustrated with this service. When the washer is working, it is fine, but I feel that 4 repairs for the same thing, in less than a year is extreme. It is obviously defective. Once the e-warranty runs out, and I have to use the extended warranty, the service takes 3-4 weeks for repairs and that is a long time to be without a washer. I have never heard of anything so stupid...that you cannot spill any detergent on a washer because it will stain it. I am 60 years old and have owned many washers in my life and have never had this problem. They told me that it must have been the soap that I used (Tide).
We have this washer and dryer set in a laundry room and it looks terrible. I had several unsatisfactory conversations with Bernadette, her supervisor and someone at headquarters. they sent a repair man out to fix the washer. While this first repair man we fixing the machine, he said he had to fix the door lock. of course he did not have one so he had to come back the following week. when he fixed the door lock, he only replaced half of it and the door shims were worn which they did not fix. there was also a wire for the inside light that was broke. when this wire is broke the washer will not work either. so he came back to fix that one week later. we got to use the washer for about eight loads and the lock will not work again.
this time it was not under warranty and cost $250.00 for the parts and labor. he replaced the lock, both parts of it and shimmed the door. this was on july 15th and on July 25th the door lock will not work again. this washer is only 18 months old and has been repaired 4 times going on the 5th one. what ever happened to quaility products made in the great USA.

A new one was replaced and Frigidair gave a discount on the part but we paid $170 in labor. 16 months later the control panel AGAIN began to malfunction - allowing only one setting to be selected. Two months later the panel has to be replaced. This time I was offered a 5% discount on a new washer ($30). After persisting, they allowed the part to be sent free, but nothing on labor... another $170.00. It took alot to convince them to replace the part for free. I had to ask for a supervisor, and still was not able to get them to pay labor.
Every two years I am paying $170 labor to keep my washer running. If I hadn't spent 1 hour on the phone each time with a supervisor, I would have had to pay several hundred dollars just for the part - TWICE. This is my LAST Frigidair appliance! I bought a washer last year with our taxes and it broke this year. It was working fine then the spin cycle just up and quit. I checked to see if the load was unbalanced then checked with no cloths in it at and it did the same. It turns out I have to pay for the service tech to come tell me what is wrong then they may help me.
I have done lots of research on this washer and tend to have found that this seems to be quite common that around 15 months this particalar piece of the washer malfunctions. It is a 49 dollar part and 95 dollars in labor plus the cost of the initial assesment just to tell you this is wrong with it. Hense long process with no washer spend 850 and then keep paying to keep it running plus the monthly bill you incure running it. This I believe is why they only give you one year warranty because just a little over one year later it will break anyways and you will have to pay them more for the same machine you already paid for.
I have a husband who has limited clothing for his job as an auto body tech. 10 pairs of jeans. The rest of his cloths are of regular wear. I also have 4 young children that go to school daily and need clean cloths. With no washer in my home and a broken van (of course due to electronics also) I can not get to a laundry mat, I live 20 miles outside of town. 15 in gas to get to a laundry mat. 10 dollar in wash 10-15 in drying then time away from home not getting other housework done in between loads later dinner because spent so much time outside the home doing laundry 20 miles away in my home that is catostrophic.
I can not live without my washer and dryer. My house does not function. No clean towels no clean cloths no clean sheets nothing gets accomplished. Physical damage is the wear and tear on my body for having to sit in the most uncomfortable chairs at the laundromat waiting.. economically well we become dirty and unclean and stinky.. That is real welcome around here.. Fridgedair should automatically give a longer warranty since this problem is so common. Or resolve the problem with a permanant solution.

In Feb. '06, I purchased a frontloader washer and matching dryer. How exciting, right? No, a total nightmare. Oh how, I miss my Kenmore topload washer and my dryer with the pull down door.
Washer: Since I purchased this washer, I have had streaks of dirty gray lines on my clothing, especially the whites or even more, anything light colored. I just washed a load of whites, and I have nice gray lines all over this load of laundry. So I decided to look on the Internet to see if anyone other than myself is experiencing the same problem. I see that I am not the only one who is frustruated. I too am terrified to wash my clothes.
Dryer: Just shy of a year old (Feb '07), the dryer was overheating so I called Frigidaire. A repairman came and replaced the heating element. Again, I am having problems with the dryer. I am now drying my clothes on permanent press medium heat. Clothes are wrinkled, no matter how small, medium, or large of a dryer load. For bulky items, such as rugs, towels, jeans, these items do not dry within the 40-50 mintues on the hight heat, or if by chance they do dry, again everything is a wrinkled mess. My lint filter is always clean.
Since the washer/dryer are stackable, upon the spin cycle of the washer, the set rocked so bad that we had to unstack the set. Next we purchased the pedestals for the washer and dryer. The washer never runs quietly. It is pathetically loud, especially on Quick cycle spin. When I placed a call to Frigidaire, I was informed that this type of set-up is better if set-up on a hard surface such as concrete. Then why wouldn't Frigidaire disclose that information somewhere on the FRONT of the washer and dryer. Upon being placed on the floor, stacked on the pedestals, sometimes the water is cycled out, sometimes not.
I call these appliances a lemon. Based upon my problem with these appliances, just a little over two years old, I would never recommend anyone to purchase these products. My Sears washer/dryer were 10 years old and I never had these problems. Too bad, I just wore that set out.
Dryer, replaced heating element. I am calling Frigidaire tomorrow to complain about the problems with the gray lines and the dryer not working properly. I am still under warrantly for these items. I will f/up if the repairs fix the problem.

I bought a washer and dryer last year. My warranty expired on 12/12/2007. My washer broke, and I filed a complaint for repair on November 10, 2007. They gave me numbers for repairmen in surrounding areas to contact to come out and do the repair. None of those would come out and repair in this area. So I contacted the appliance store (Conleys Electric) where I bought the washer, and he said to give a couple of days and he would find me a repair place. One and a half weeks later he put me in contact with Tri-County Appliance. They sent a repairman out to do an assessment of the repairs needed. He ordered the parts which were to have been delivered in 72 hours. Two and a half weeks later the parts arrived. One week later the repairman arrived and repaired the washer with the new parts. Repairman stated that this washer had a factory defect and his repair would not hold. One hour after he left the same part broke again.
I contacted Frigidaire and told them that the repair did not hold; they said they had to wait on the paperwork to come in from the repairman at Tri-county Appliance. They did not receive the paperwork until after my warranty had already expired. Having said that, Frigidaire says there is nothing they can do now except to offer me a 70% rebate on the purchase of a new washer. Why am I being penalized because the paperwork did not get turned in on time? It was not my responsibility but rather the repairman's. Keep in mind that my washer initially broke BEFORE my warranty expired.
I have been without a washer for 3 months now. I have had to go to the laundromat and do my laundry which has added an extra expense on my budget. Also now Frigidaire says I have to first buy a new washer, then send in my receipt, and then they will issue me a 70% rebate. I am on a fixed income and am unable to do this.

I bought a Fridigaire front loading washer plus dryer in November 2006. At first I did not notice any problems, then realized towels were wearing out so much that there was a difference between each washing; the lint filter was so clogged I had to replace it weekly. Unfortunately I washed a batch of wool sweaters, gentle cycle, mild detergent, cold water, and destroyed them. They were all felted. I had washed them many times before, same process, in Maytags (plural) without problems.
I contacted Frigidaire by telephone. Their representative was profoundly unhelpful and fairly rude and inisted that they should not have washed or washed in warm water. I did not think she knew what she was talking about but thought if I had proof they would listen. They did not, although that sweater shrank until it was small anough to fit a small child (about 8-10 shrinkage). Another sweater shrank that much in cold water. At no time could I get someone out to look at the machine.
The dryer had a design flaw that meant small items were caught between the paddles and drum wall; they would then drop down and dampen the dry laundry. They did send out a technical service person to look at the dryer. He said it was a known problem and that he had no way of fixing it.
The Better Business Bureau persuaded the vendor to take back the machines and give me almost full credit for the machines.
The sweaters were pure wool and Itlaian. The cost to replace them will be at least $300, and only if I do some very careful bargain hunting. This is a problem because woolen sweaters will go on sale in the spring, not the beginning of fall in Minnesota.

10/10/06 Called Frigidaire explained the issue. Becky the supervisor was told by Central repair they would have the parts in a day or two. Becky said they would overnight them. But there was no use since they would have the parts so soon.
10/13/06 Called Central Repair to check to see if the parts were in. They had not gotten them in yet. However they would set an appointment up for me to have the service on 10/19/06.
10/17/06 I called Frigidaire to let them know what was going on and the delay that I was having. Laura who was less than kind. While I was explaining the problem put me on hold and just let me sit there talking away. When I realized she was not on the phone I said hello. In about 10 seconds she said well there is nothing that we can do. We just need to wait for the parts to come in.
Let me tell you I have a family and have been without a washer since 9/18/06. I am really loosing my temper. Since all of this has gone on I have been taking my laundry to the laudrymat and bringing it home to dry. I am still having issues with the Dryer. I am not sure if they will look at it or just put me off again. The dryer will dry and then before the clothes are dry it will go into the cool down cycle. It will beep to say it is done. I go check the clothes and they are still wet.

At least 3 trips to laundromat per week. New carpeting stained, ruined because of water leaking.

I have spent almost $200 by going to the laundromat to have my clothing cleaned, and have missed 2 days of work at $150 per day. I have lost $500 out of pocket, paid $1500 for a washer and dryer and still do not have a laundromat in my home.

had problem with 2 1/2 yr old front load washer. Called authorized repair told me bearing was bad. Bearing is part of rear shell ($158). He also said from experience the shaft was probably scored and no good too. Shaft is part of the inner spin drum ($217). The seal would have to be replaced too ($17). Labor ($180).
A friend who contacted Frigidaire told me he found out from their tech dept and enginneering that they used a new vendor for their bearing, had a problem, and went back to old vendor, so they knew they might have problems with these bearings. This person told my friend the bearing has a 25yr warrenty. When I contacted Frigidaire myself, they told me only the inner drum was covered by warrenty. This would leave me responsible for $370 worth of repairs for a 2 1/2 yr old washer i purchaced for $600. I requested they pur their papers aside a moment and simply stand by their product. They wouldnot budge from their position.

In March 2003 I purchased a front loading washing machine. It is now September 2003 and my washing machines motor is burned out. I phoned Frigidaire and explained that I had 70 people coming to my house on Saturday September 13th. I explained that I could not be without my washing machine for 4 days and since the machine wash is less than 6 month old I felt it should be replaced not fixed. I was told they could not do that. I am very unhappy and think that something need to be done so other consumers do not have the same problems

My roommates and I bought a Frigidaire dryer in Feb. of 2000. In April of this year the unit caught fire and the fire department was called. They told me that a wire was the cause. We called Frigidaire and they sent a Sears repair man to replace the wires. Well this month, June, the unit caught on fire again. I caught it in time but it melted most of the wires. I called Frigidaire and they said since this happened out of the 1 year warrenty, the only thing they would do is give us a rebate towards a new dryer. I explained that this was not a warrenty issue. To me this was a defected product they manufactured. They told me the only way they could do something if we had damage to our house. So it sounds like my fault for catching the fire in the first place.
So they will give us a rebate for a new machine. We still have to pay 300+ dollars for a new machine that will last a little over a year. The wires caught on fire twice. This is something we have no control over. We were sold a defected product and they won't take responsability for it. That is wrong. I only can think what might of happened if the fire would have spread. I've called twice to there customer service and wroted them an email. Bottom line, Frigidaire manufactored a product that was sold to us which caught on fire twice because of defective wiring, and they will do nothing for us exept give us a rebate on another dryer.
We lost our investment on the dryer which cost us around $300. For the past 3 weeks we've had to use pay machines to dry our clothes and have a piece of crap sitting in our kitchen with burnt wires wondering what we're going to do with it. We don't feel safe getting it fixed. That was already proved when they had it fixed and it caught on fire again.
