My Toshiba Smart TV is the worst electrical item I have ever purchased. It regularly turns itself off and then on again; it defaults to the media setting frequently which is so annoying; the WiFi turns off all the time and so has to be rebooted. Do not buy a Toshiba TV as my one is a complete waste of money - pay a bit more and get a decent TV.

I have a Toshiba 32" and I have had no problem so far. Bright, Loud, Clear, no buzz, no hums. It on all night. Cut off at noon and turn back on at 4 or 5. I've had the flat screen since 2014. The price was right to purchase around $89 - $99. I'm enjoying it. I guess when it shuts down I'll need another one. Good product.

I wonder why the people on the service line can't speak English. Just part of the scam. You have been warned.

Toshiba TV, CT-90325. Today, out of the blue, my tv quit working. When I turned the tv on, it flashed the Toshiba logo as it always does, but that was it. There was no picture or sound. I tried troubleshooting, but when that didn’t work I contacted Toshiba. The language barrier made communication difficult. I had to repeat myself several times, he had to repeat himself, and continually talked over me. As soon as he learned my tv was 5-6 years old he said he couldn’t help, and gave me a different number to call. I tried to ask a question but he wouldn’t answer and again stated I needed to call the other number. When I called that number the automated voice informed me that Toshiba no longer offered assistance for tv’s over 2 years old. Horrible customer service! Stay away!!!

Good purchase price and does the basics well. I think Toshiba TV are all pretty much the same. In my case, find the size I want at or about the price I want to pay. Have tried many brands over the years and find it depends on where you buy it, not what brand you buy. Nobody fixes TVs anymore! Have 2 flatscreens in my locker.

It went out in November and has not come on since. It has been a problem trying to contact Toshiba for help. I think this TV is defective. We changed HDMI outlets on the TV for a temporary fix but a couple of days later black screen again. Looked online to troubleshoot. As one possible problem I bought an inverter board replacement on eBay but that was not the problem. I called a TV repair shop in my area. As soon as he heard Toshiba TV he told me "Throw it out and buy a new TV". SO disappointed with Toshiba! I would highly Not recommend any Toshiba TV unless you want to junk it after a few years. It is a regular screen television with a DVD and VHS accessory. All three of these components have served me well over the past twenty-five years. I sincerely doubt a television these days have such components. I weathered the storm by not buying Beta when it was at war with VHS. The minority of my associates scoffed me when I opted to buy VHS. I would not turn in this television for it has all the proverbial bells and whistles I really need. Having a product that has withstood the rigors of children and grandchildren says something for the manufacturer. I would NEVER buy an American-made product for from personal experience have seen the American-made product fall apart after less than six months of use. It goes to prove that Japanese electronics put American electronics on the back burner. This even goes for automobiles.

We had the screen go black one time and were told to turn off the tv and turn it back on and it worked fine for a few months. Now the screen is black and you can use a flashlight to barely see a picture. We have sound. We were told it was a board that has gone out and it seems to be a frequent problem with Toshiba's. I tried calling Toshiba to see if there were any recalls. The number tells you to call another number. When I call the new number it tells you to go online. I did that but can't find any way to contact a live person to find out if there are any recalls. A tv like this should not go out after owning it for 3 1/2 years!!

Your warranty is expired. Pay for someone to come out and look at it or buy another tv." Are you kidding me! I am so angry I thought pc richard and sons stood by their products. I could understand if the tv was 5 or more years old but my god not even three years and it was a mother's day gift.

My mom was so happy to get it and now to have to tell her she has to pay someone to come take a look at it and if not fixable has to purchase another one is mind boggling. I also purchased another tv the same exact day and put it in my home and it is working fine also purchased one for my living room that I have had for 10 years and it is working fine so why hers isn't working is crazy to me. 55SV670U - I purchases this high dollar TV less than 7 years ago. Within the first year there were issues with this television. The Main board was replaced due to a weird double picture and echo audio problem. Within a few months the problem returned. Keep in mind the tv is now less than 2 years old. Turning the tv off for a few minutes then back on usually helped with restoring it back to normal. The next problem was the red, blue and green vertical lines and dark spots on the screen that lasted for about a year before the tv finally would only display a blue screen when turned on. Now I have an expensive Toshiba paperweight sitting in my living room. This is the worst tv I've ever purchased in my life! Toshiba customer service is nonexistent. I see a class action lawsuit in the future to compensate the tens of thousands or millions who have wasted money on these beautiful yet worthless televisions.

We purchased a Toshiba 49" flat screen. When we got it home and hooked it up, the base had a wobble to it, so we contacted Best Buy. They stated that if there were issues, the manufacturer would be responsible with the warranty. We were nervous but went ahead and set it up with the base that came with the tv. It fell over, smashing the screen and breaking our PlayStation in the process. We contacted Toshiba. After many unreturned phone calls, a visit from Best Buy (who stated the base was MADE incorrectly), we got a denial for the warranty.

I contacted the attorney general. The letter I just received from them stated they could not go further with Toshiba because they were uncooperative. The letter Toshiba sent the attorney general stated that we assembled the base incorrectly. Well the legs only logically fit in one way and we used the instructions so that would be a no. I am contacting Toshiba one last time to resolve this matter. I purchased a tv from a different manufacturer because I don't trust them with any other issues that may arise with a new tv. We will not purchase their equipment for our home or their AC units for our HVAC business. They will never receive another dollar from us. I asked for the name of someone to whom I could talk about my problem. Toshiba's online service was of no use at all. Customer service from Toshiba was non-existent. I purchased new 55 inch Toshiba LED TV Model # 55L6200U; SN C45224T16242L1 from Best Buy on Jan. 5, 2013. From this January, the TV intermittently started getting stuck on Toshiba logo when started. However, from approx. March 2016 onwards, the TV is permanently stuck on Toshiba logo! I lodged a complaint with Toshiba on May 27, 2016 under ticket # **. On Jun. 27, the company called and asked me to take my TV to Japan Video Service Ltd., Edmonton for diagnostic check to be paid by Toshiba. On July 8th, after getting a report from Japan Video, Toshiba informed me that the mainboard required replacement but the part wasn’t available with them therefore, they would not pay for the part or the labour for the repair. Today, Toshiba informed me that they had sourced the part from CCSI Ontario but since the part is not from “their stock”, Toshiba would not pay for the repairs.

From several online posts made by customers since Nov. 2013, it is implied that Toshiba was aware of this product defect right from the year 2013, when I purchased the TV. It is also implied that lack of quality is the cause of defect. Rather than proactively addressing the problem by contacting customers and replacing the defective parts, Toshiba chose not to even stock the part necessary to service any complaints just 3 years after they sold the brand new product to me! This speaks volumes about the attitude of the company towards customers and the quality of service they want to provide.

For the last one and half months, I patiently worked with them requesting them to resolve my complaint but to no avail! Therefore, I am left with no option but to go to public forums to try and get a solution to the problem. I request Toshiba Canada to act like any decent company by owning the problem, providing good quality replacement parts and pay for the repairs of my TV.

My 15 yr. old autistic son saved enough money to buy his own TV set. Budget was limited so choices were down to unknown Chinese brands and a 32" Toshiba. Since my wife and I readily recognized Toshiba as an old Japanese brand, we went for it. The TV tested fine at the store but the moment we reached home and plugged it in, the display became inverted. We returned the TV to the store the very next day and after spending some time in the technical booth, they replaced it with a new one. Again, they tested it and it was fine.

This time it took a year before it inverted. Being out of warranty, the nearest authorized service center was charging us $150 to fix it. It took me six more months to find another authorized service center that charged much lower explaining it was only a firmware reset procedure but then the TV would invert every now and then and the service center was an hour away so it became a hassle. Up to now, the service staff still can't figure out why my son's TV behaves that way. They claim it was the only unit doing that. The TV is again inverted and I'm about to replace it with a new one from another brand out of my own pocket to tune down the owner's nervous breakdown.

So I bought the TV and it was working great until the 14th month and it wouldn't turn on. So we called Toshiba and they said, "You don't have the extended warranty." So they gave me a # for a repair shop all tech repair. So we brought it and they charged me a $200 plus $45.00 deposit to see what was wrong with it. And three months later you don't have a picture. I called again and they said we can't do anything about it. So now I have to buy a new TV after I spent 950 on a 50 inch TV. This product is garbage. I recommend to NEVER BUY THIS PRODUCT EVER. If somebody wants to sue I would go for it.

We do have a sound system attached but very seldom use it as the sound from the TV's quite adequate. The colors are very good and when the cable is working good, it has no problem keeping up with the action on movies or sports.

I purchased a 65 inch Toshiba TV with a 240 refresh in late July of this year. Upon arriving home with it, I noticed a large dark imperfection on the screen about 4 inches wide and across 2/3 of the screen. I contacted Toshiba the following day and was told that I needed to provide my bill or sale to begin the warranty period. A subsequent call to them, actually talk about the problem resulted in my having to send photos of the screen for them to investigate.

Pictures were sent, but no return call. I had to call in again to wait on hold for a while before the woman on the other end (they are ALL from the Philippines with strong accents) informed me that the screen needed replacement (no tech was ever sent to the house). She would forward the information to their repair center who would be in touch within 48 hours. Again no call was made.

I waited a few days then called the repair center (not a Toshiba company, but apparently contracted to do their TV repairs), and was told they had no record of the parts. A second call a few days later revealed that they had indeed received the work order, but that the parts (read SCREEN) were back ordered and that I should contact Toshiba regarding a time frame. Indeed, I did call (another period of time waiting on hold) so that I could be told the part would be shipped (from Japan and by BOAT!!!) in about 2 weeks because it was backordered. Three weeks later and now fairly angry, I called back in to be put on hold once more. I was promised that the part would be shipped to the repair center within 7 days. After a week I called the repair center and was told that they had not yet received either the part, nor any indication that it was coming. Back to Toshiba...

At this point, my buddy "Dan" gets involved from the Toshiba order desk department. He informs me that, indeed no part exists since they got out of the TV business! I did know prior to my purchase that they were moving away from television, but had no idea they also stopped making parts to repair said units (I was under the impression that they had to offer parts for at least 5 years beyond the elimination of a product. But apparently if that rule exists, Toshiba doesn't subscribe to it). Dan tells me that my best way forward is to either have them ship me another TV (that would be either a display or open box) or to get a refund of my purchase price. The refund would take 6 weeks, and that was after they came and took the TV from my home, and came in the form of a VISA debt card.

This is now October and I am still without a TV. I elect to take the replacement, open box, after being assured that my warranty on this replacement would carry on from the other unit. I was told that the delivery company would contact me within 7 to 10 business days to schedule delivery of the replacement and removal of the old set.

On day 11, I call back in to Toshiba to inquire on the replacement's whereabouts. After waiting on hold again, I was now told that they didn't really have a TV to send as a replacement since the open box ones they claimed they had were all gone? This is now into the middle of November and my only option seems to be to wait an additional 6 weeks for them to refund my price before I can get a new television at a store.

I am unwilling to let them take my TV before I have the refund, or at least at the same time since I no longer trust them to actually send me the money. Toshiba has become a scam, in my opinion, with how they have "handled" this issue. I have wasted hours on the phone with them, trying to understand their employee's bad English skills. I have not been able to watch the unit since the day I purchased it back in July and yet they seem not to care about my satisfaction or their place in the market.

I would advise any of you out there to RUN away from anything Toshiba sells! They seem to be very dismissive of someone's issues and apparently misrepresent how the situation will be remedied. To purchase any Toshiba product, in my opinion, would be a bad move since they really don't have any means of making the situation good for the customer. I am sure I will never, ever, buy a product from this mismanaged organization and plan to fill the Internet with reviews such as this one to help make the general public aware of their tactics.

I purchased a Toshiba TV (Model #: 46L5200U1) on February 19, 2013. After only 2 years and a couple months of having this TV, it has stopped working. The screen is black, but you can still hear sound. I found out the warranty we had on it was only for 12 months from purchase date so of course this would happen only one year later from the end of the warranty. I contacted Toshiba on 06/21/2015 and explained the situation. They had me try unplugging the TV and plugging it back in to press Menu and see what happens -- of course only a black screen. They then advised me to speak with one of their specialists in my area. I spoke with them and was advised it wasn't worth my while to attempt fixing the TV.

They explained that there were 3 possibilities that could be wrong with the TV. One of the parts isn't even made anymore, one was super expensive and would cost as much as buying a whole new TV, and the other was the only positive option. However, I would have to pay X amount of money to have the odds basically against me of 2/3 parts being pointless. I even looked at the Toshiba forums with the exact same model # and there were MANY people with the same exact problem. No one had a fix for it, and one of the people had a 5 year warranty on his TV so was able to get it reimbursed to purchase a new TV.

Regardless, I understand that I should have purchased an extended warranty, but really, who knew that a brand new TV would only last 2 years before crapping out? This is unacceptable to me when you can get older TVs to still work even when they are 20 years old. I'm sorry but I don't have $600+ to spend every 2 years on a TV. When I spoke with Toshiba again, they gave me a run-around even after I asked to speak to a manager to help me with this matter. They just kept going in circles with the conversation and finally I just said I'd deal with it myself. Now I'm writing this review because I think Toshiba needs to realize when you have an upset consumer you need to bend over backwards in some ways to guarantee your products a little more especially if you want people to pay $600+ for it. As I have titled this, I will never give Toshiba my business again.

I got a Toshiba 50" flat screen, model DL 50 L1400 5 months ago. A month ago I bought a wireless headphone set to use with the TV. I plug it into the audio jacks in the back and nothing happened. I checked the headset by plugging it to my other TV, and it worked with no problem. I also tried other speakers and none of them worked on the Toshiba. Finally I called the store where I bought it from. They sent out a tech, to see what the problem was. It was thought that it needed a new main board, so I had to wait until they got the new part. When the part came in the tech came out to install it. After it was installed he tried to connect the wireless headset, and other speakers to the set and none of them worked. So finally the tech called Toshiba tech support only to find out that, that model doesn't have a audio out even though the jacks for it are in the back of the TV.

Why put the jacks there if you know the set don't support audio out? It doesn't make sense to have a function the doesn't work. Now I'm angry because a function I needed is not there. So not only can't I use my headset or any other speaker, when I called the store I was told there was nothing I could do about it because there was nothing wrong with the set. I can't get a exchange or refund. If I had known this before hand I would never have bought the thing. How can you make a state of the art TV and leave out a basic function? THIS REALLY SUCKS. I purchased Toshiba model #50L1400U from Best Buy March of 2014. June 2015 (NO EXTENDED WARRANTY) the 50" TV has developed a viewing issue. After the TV has been on for a few minutes a dark image appears at approx. 6" from the lower right corner of the TV and extends horizontally from right side of viewing screen to left side (I HAVE PHOTOS). I contacted Toshiba, they advised me my one year warranty had expired and directed me to a local Toshiba authorized repair shop. I was told the repair estimate would cost approx. $195.00 if I brought the TV in and the parts estimated at $200.00 (THIS ESTIMATE WAS DONE OVER THE PHONE WITH THE PERSON WHO ANSWERED THE PHONE. IT WAS NOT BROUGHT IN FOR ACTUAL DIAGNOSIS AND ESTIMATE).

I advised this person that I originally paid $499.99 from Best Buy in March 2014 and I was not interested in paying for a repair that would meet the original purchase price. They directed me to call Best Buy store where I purchase product to see if there was anything they would do. I spoke to Best Buy Asst. Manager who listened to my complaint about TV and he said he would check with the TV repairperson then and get back to me the next day. I did receive a call the next day and was advised the repairperson looked at the pictures of my TV issue and my description of issue and came to the conclusion that the LED screen behind the glass was no longer working properly (Best Buy never had this TV in their possession to examine it properly).

However I was advised that this issue could not be rectified as they would not be able to acquire the part to repair it. In other words I have a TV that would cost more to repair than I paid for it. My anger falls mostly with Toshiba! The product is obliviously defective. I am not a TV expert however I don't believe this product should have a 15-month life span to it. I would have hoped that Toshiba would stand behind their products if they believe that they manufacture quality. Nevertheless I have come to the end of the road on this as Toshiba has no interest in helping in this matter. Best Buy also has no interest in helping in this matter and my wife and I who are on a fixed income appear to have no other recourse other than to live with the defective TV or replace it at our expense.

The original reason for the purchase of this TV was the TV it replaced had given out after 16 years (IT WAS A SONY). No I never purchased an extended warranty but throughout our internet investigation of extended warranties we're consistently advised that they were a non-essential investment and a waste of money as the new technology LED flat screen life spans were approx. 5 years and would expect to be replaced with newer technology as similar to computers and cellphones. This does not take away from my feelings that Toshiba could or should stand behind their products and not every issue should be cut & dry, covered or not covered there should be some area of responsible manufacturing of quality products. I am not sure if Toshiba products are in my future if this is the way they work with their customers. Thanks for allowing me to vent...

I just got a Toshiba "smart" TV about 5 months ago. It has had issues ever since I got it but I had been thinking it was Netflix, YouTube, etc. rather than the TV itself. I called those companies over and over trying different solutions. Finally, I found out that the TV had not been updated since 2013. All I needed was a software update. I was so relieved to finally have my answer! That is until I called and asked for help doing that.

First off, the guy couldn't hardly speak English. Then, he wouldn't listen to me. He said it was "just Netflix" before I even got to explain my situation and I told him that I didn't care - I still needed a software update either way because NOTHING was working. He then asked when I bought the TV. I explained that I got it from Rent A Center in January. He then asked for an exact date. I told him I didn't know. He asked if I still had the receipt and I told him no, if I did I would give him the exact date. Then he just said "what's the exact date." Very rudely and impatiently and I had to get rude back to get my point across that I didn't know nor did I have a way to find out.

He then told me that the only way he could help me for free was if I got the TV within the last 3 months, but I could pay to talk to him. WITHOUT EVEN A GUARANTEE OF A FIX. He wasn't empathetic, he wouldn't listen, he was rude, and he refused to even give me advice without paying him. They are selfish as a company, and I feel that they PURPOSELY don't do firmware updates once you've had it longer than the 3 month warranty and the only way they will even help over the phone is if you pay. WHAT SCAM ARTISTS. I hope they go out of business to prevent anyone else from wasting their money!

They run sufficient tests to confirm it was a hardware problem, not software. I explained this was an "out of box" problem... not working when I bought it! I was immediately advised I had to ship (at my expense) the laptop to their repair shop (weeks before return?). Two days later, and three levels of case rep phone discussion, my insistence on receiving a replacement computer and returning my malfunctioning one... was flat denied!

In fact (in my opinion), TOSHIBA has practically rendered their warranty useless!! With the phrase "in its sole discretion" of their warranty, they reduce every issue to distant location attempted repair at customer's transportation expense, even when the product is defective upon initial purchase! The term "replace the product" in their warranty is for most practical purposes worthless to the customer!! After more than a decade of purchasing and recommending TOSHIBA...never again!!!

If you are considering purchasing a TOSHIBA product I would reconsider. You may end up having the worst customer service experience of your life! We purchased a flat screen TV in June. It went into the shop on November 24th. The shop owner tells me that he cant get parts from TOSHIBA. I called TOSHIBA warranty support and complained and the rep sort of scolded me for taking it to a private shop, which is an option that they gave me in the beginning. I chose this option because it was going to take a week to get their service rep to my home and then there was that "window" of wasted time waiting for them to arrive.

The shop owner finally got the part and repaired the TV, but said it only ran for four hours then the same problem occurred. I called TOSHIBA to tell them I'd had a long enough wait and was ready for them to give me a new TV. Even though I was given a case number in the beginning, I had to go through the whole story before they would talk to me about the problem (the only thing they seemed to be aware of was the warranty expiration date). The rep told me that it would need to be "escalated" to a higher level but he could help me with it. They wanted me to provide "proof-of-purchase" even though they had the product warranty registration. Since I didn't have the original receipt any longer, the rep told me to call the store and they would be able to e-mail me a receipt. Best Buy was very supportive in this.

I called TOSHIBA back to ensure they had what they needed (had to tell them the story again). The rep pulled up the receipt that I had just forwarded from Best Buy, and put me on hold while she "validated" it. She returned to the phone to tell me that the receipt was not valid. Imagine my frustration at that point! After about 20 minutes of arguing and trying to get the rep to pass me to her supervisor she said "is there anything else I can help you with today" I said I want to talk to your supervisor. She said "I won't be passing this call on to my supervisor and terminated the phone call".

They have never told me what the resolution will be once they have what they need. They have to "evaluate the case" before a decision is made. I had to go to Best Buy and have them fax a receipt (which looked exactly what I had e-mailed to them). When I called back to verify they got it, a different rep told me that the first receipt looked like "I had typed it myself" that's why it was invalid. At this point, I sure don't want another TOSHIBA product! I think I am just going to have to chalk this up to a bad purchase and get comfortable with losing $600.00. There is no way I will be able to fight a large company like TOSHIBA without spending thousands more money.

Toshiba pleasantly surprised me by responding to a grievance note a few days after I submitted my concerns regarding the technical issues of our 42" LED TV. The end result was a technician was sent to our home on 4 separate occasions changing circuit boards until the technical problems with our TV were resolved, no charge. I give the company a lot of credit standing by their product and customer concerns. It is rare to find a company that will repeatedly work at resolving product issues in a professional manner. I will consider purchasing another product by Toshiba considering the good service we received for a TV that was out of warranty for 4 months.

    Original Review: June 11, 2013

My husband and I purchased a 42" Toshiba LED in Feb. 2012. We have had repeated issues with this product i.e., freezes shows, repeatedly shuts off automatically, unable to change channels, use volume, or mute. Initially, we thought it was the remote control. However, we ruled that out. Today, I contacted technical support and was informed that I can get instructions to reset the TV back to factory default for a fee of $35.00. My husband previously went online to troubleshoot the problem, attempted to reset TV back to default by unplugging overnight - to no avail.

I was shocked that a company sells me a defective product and has the audacity to want money to teach me how to fix it! Unfortunately, the warranty was for only 1 year. We should have forwarded a complaint sooner. However, we did not realize how serious the problems were until the issues have become more prevalent and increased in severity. We choose Toshiba because we thought they were a reputable company. Never again! Now we are out a hard earned $750.00 with a TV that does not serve us well. God knows how much it will cost us to repair it.

Toshiba is going against their warranty, and as the customer, I should be given time to make a decision instead of being bullied into one. After trying different disks, and changing HDMI cables, the problem continued, so my husband called Toshiba tech support. He patiently tried the different things that the tech instructed him, with no results. We mailed the unit to Markham, as instructed (at our expense although there is a 1 yr warranty on it), and received a call about a week later, claiming that there was nothing wrong with the unit, and it was being returned to us.

When it still failed to work for us, we took it to The Source, where we had purchased it. We also took our HDMI cable and remote, explained the situation, and asked if they would be kind enough to try it on one of their TV’s, which they gladly did. Same results there - with sound, but no picture. We called tech support from the store, so that the salesman could confirm our story and got nowhere! The technician refused numerous requests to speak with a supervisor, saying that all he could do was pass the info and our number to a supervisor.

There were a number of other customers in the small store, who could hear the frustration and lack of satisfaction on our end of the call. Toshiba might be interested to know that, but I highly doubt it, considering that giving good customer service is apparently not important to them. We called again today, after waiting 4 days to hear from a supervisor. The technician was adamant that the call could not be handed over to a supervisor and claimed that the info will be passed along - more like 'passed over' is my guess.

Toshiba, you get 4 thumbs down from this couple, and a promise that we will never again purchase a product with your name on it nor would we bite our tongues if we knew someone who was thinking about buying one!

I select the 'Split' option on the remote and the picture on the left is fine - absolutely clean and perfect, with audio. The picture on the right is completely distorted in very strange colors (mostly constant variations of purple), with audio as well. You should note that the same video information is fed into different inputs to select for the split. In other words, I feed the cable stream into the TV using the component video (Ybr) as well as the coaxial cable and select both options for the purpose of displaying the same information side-by-side. On screen, I select video option four (4 for color stream HD) and option (0 for cable/antenna). If I highlight either side and select one of them (4 or 0), the screen goes full screen and I see nothing but one solid color of purple.

I've researched the purple and they call it 'Electric Purple'. That is all I see, just the solid purple, with the audio. What I have also noticed is that, if I toggle between inputs while in the full screen option and come back to either option (4 or 0), the image plays/appears okay for about 2 seconds then goes back to solid purple. I just can't understand why this is happening especially when the on-screen menu displays perfectly fine. I cannot enjoy this TV by only watching half of it in split mode, besides the multiple replacement bulbs I've had to buy. I've completely had it with this TV. I explained all of this to the person in customer service, but what do you know, I'm out of warranty so she would not even help me or tell me what to do? Once my part was in, the service provider would contact me within 24 hours to schedule. It took 3 days to schedule an appointment with (Nick). He then told me he had to come to my house before 4PM because he lives on the other side of town and wanted to miss traffic.

He replaced the motherboard and 2 hours later, the TV is not working. I was then told they had to order the part again, another 3-5 days and then reschedule a service visit. I told them at this time that I did not want the same employee to come to my house and this was ignored. I was told that there are 3 parts to a flat screen TV - the motherboard, power panel and the screen. So this time, they ordered both the motherboard and the power panel to guess which part is bad. The same service employee came back out (Nick), replaced the parts and the TV worked for 2 weeks. Then the TV not only wouldn't power on correctly, but would emit a screeching sound.

I then called Toshiba and told them that I do not want to deal with Nexicore any longer. They gave me a list of 3 authorized service providers. I brought my TV to HI Definition Electronics and they had no cooperation from Toshiba with ordering parts and were told that they were not an authorized service provider after Toshiba was the one to give me their contact. I had to call the customer relations manager myself and be placed on hold while he was on the phone with HI definition. Finally, both companies decided to order the motherboard for a third time. HI Definition replaced the part and informed me that the same malfunction is occurring.

Finally, my complaint was escalated to Mikalla, but all Toshiba stated that they can do is order another part and keep trying to fix the TV. I have been told by a customer relations manager that this is how electronics work and they will just keep replacing parts until they get it. Then Mikalla told me I have not been through enough to get a replacement and that all they can do is order another part. I asked what else and how much longer until they actually will make this right. She stated that is not something that they inform the consumer of. Also, I was informed that I did not read my warranty information and have not went through the proper steps to get the TV repaired, which I would think that they would have notified me of this the first time I called 3 months ago.

It clearly states on my Toshiba warranty that if your are experiencing a technical problem or have questions regarding operation, authorized service providers, warranty or parts, please contact customer service department at 1800-631-3811. Mikalla also stated that I own this TV and it is my responsibility to get it fixed, not Toshiba. Do not purchase any product from Toshiba! Toshiba does not take responsibility for their poor products and does not care at all about their consumers.

The customer service first assumed that it's the LED panel and took five days to send the part to technician. After another five days, the tech arrived and finally found that the LED panel is good and power supply is the issue. He ordered the part but they said it was not available in stock and it was in backorder. I called after a month. There is no ETA also. When I checked with a manager specialist about the part, he was rude and said that I have to wait until they get the part, which can be month or year. No other way. This is a stupid waste of service/support and a third class product. Don't buy anything in this brand.

At a little over 3 years, it would not show a picture or sound when turned on. The power indicator was lit up and the screen changed to a dark purplish black. I took it to an authorized repairman per Toshiba's instructions. $1400 was bid for the repair. No thanks to that repair and no thanks to another Toshiba anything.

Toshiba sent a repairman on 6/29/12 who replaced the motherboard. Sound is louder, but still sounds like an AM radio. On 7/28/12, not even a month after the repair, the TV started cutting off and back on, by itself! I called Toshiba again and was told it would be 7-14 days before they would have the necessary part to repair it and schedule someone to come out to fix it again. That's two repairs in under 30 days and the TV isn't even a year old! It's unacceptable! I was also told by a case manager that if the TV needs a 3rd repair, my case might be considered for a replacement TV. How many times do I have to have this thing fixed before they replace it! We paid over two thousand dollars when a year later, in 2009, the set started giving us problems. Our display panel was no good, and since we were still under warranty, they took our set. Two weeks later, we supposedly got a new set back. Well, it just happened again! This time, Toshiba will not even give us the part since we are not under warranty. But the set's giving us the same problem that was supposed to have been fixed, and the repair person told me the part is over a thousand dollars. We called American and were told to contact the Toshiba company, which we did and were told they would not be able to help us as it was out of warranty (the customer service rep said that she had never heard of any other issues such as ours) but they could refer us to a qualified Toshiba technician.

The tech came out and said, "Oh you have one of these, the motherboard is out. I see this a lot on these Toshibas. If I can get the part, which could take at least 6-8 weeks, it's going to cost $4,300.00 not including my labor." We called Toshiba back to inform them what the tech said and was told from a Toshiba supervisor that there was nothing the company could do. I informed him that we would never buy another Toshiba product and would be telling everyone we know about the experience we had. This is terrible that the consumer has no recourse with things like this. A class action suit might be the way to go so this type of thing doesn't continue to happen.

Who makes a TV that dies within four years? Toshiba, that's who. My concern was escalated to a "case manager" (Heather). Heather was just as helpful as the people at the 1-800 customer service number. I was told as a "manager," she had the authority to direct me to a repair company and that was all. Amazing, in asking who else I could speak with, she informed me that she was as high as any concern would get, amazement yet again. I will never by another Toshiba product. I called Toshiba to find out when the part would be available. The phone rep told me he did not have access to that information, but put me on some sort of list where some customer care manager was supposed to call me within 3-5 days. I waited for a couple of weeks and called again. The rep said that someone was definitely taking care of my case. I asked to be put through to that person. The rep again told me he did not have access to that information. It is beginning to look like these phone reps are just a voice to make us think that somebody is actually dealing with our problems when they are really just hiding from their customers because their products are of such poor quality.

Another thought comes to mind, the fact that these customer care managers have no time to answer their own calls and don't return calls in a timely fashion speaks volumes about the quality of their products. If they are as busy as they make out, they must be dealing with a lot of dissatisfied customers!

However, I contacted Toshiba's Offices in Irvine, CA and spoke to a very pleasant rep in their Customer Relations department named Celina. She offered me a one-time repair of my TV without any cost to me. She arranged for Nexicore to fix my TV.

I waited for weeks, and Nexicore on several occasions told me they were yet to receive the parts to fix my TV. When asked to please look into where my TV was, she just couldn't be bothered to make the effort.

I called again today and was told they had a new tracking number for me. When I asked what was wrong with the one provided to me a week ago, they changed their story once again and said it was valid and will work once the shipping company picks up the TV for shipment. So now, they are caught in lies again. They did not ship my TV last week as it was claimed. They are saying it's awaiting pick-up at some warehouse, of which they did not know the location of. He refused this and again, said that was what a guarantee was for. He did say that he would extend the warranty by 3 months.

Finally, on the following Friday, I received a call from the service center saying my set had been repaired and they would deliver it on Monday - 6 weeks after it first broke down. I only had the set in my house for 5 weeks. When it arrived, I immediately took it back to Future Shop and exchanged the Toshiba junk for a larger Samsung 43" TV and had to pay only $23 difference. After replacing my second bulb in the television, white dots began appearing. Problems with the light engine/DLP chip is failing. Average price is $600 for just the chip. It has quickly progressed from one irritating dot to so many. The TV is unusable. The TV is less than five years old. When you combine that part cost with two bulbs at $250 each, a ridiculous total of $2000 for the TV, two bulbs $500 and the chip in the light engine $600 + labor, it comes to $3100. That is $1100 in parts, plus labor, for a TV less than five years old. It needs to be recalled by the manufacturer and credited or replaced at no cost to the consumer. People have been ripped off.

I bought two Toshiba LCD TVs end of Sept. 2009. We did not get the extended warranty on the smaller 37" one. We thought with Toshiba being a very good brand we shouldn't need it. Ha! After a little over 2 years, the screen started going black but still had sound. Called Toshiba & they referred me to an authorized service joint. They told me the main board & power supply had both gone bad & it would cost $400 to fix. Since we only paid $600 for the TV, I told them thanks, but, no thanks.

After several calls to Toshiba, the general response was pretty much "too bad". One guy told me that there was no guaranteed life on any LCD television since they are so complex. I told him that was good to know. I would rather buy an off brand TV for half the price of a Toshiba if I was going to get the same length of use out of it. Better to spend $350 on a new TV every 2 years instead of $600. I will never buy or recommend a Toshiba product again. Even if their products may be fair, their customer service is the absolute worst!

In late December 2009, we purchased 2 Toshiba flatscreen TVs (different models). Within a couple of months one of them developed a major problem with the audio and it was taken to a local authorized repair company. We were told it needed to be retrofitted with a part as that particular model, as it turned out, had a specific audio problem. Approximately six months later, having spent the entire time fighting with Toshiba to get the set fixed or replace it with another, Toshiba finally replaced it with a different model since no point giving us the same defective model we bought.

A year and a couple of days after buying these 2 sets the other one went bad - the panel went out on it. Knowing this is a very expensive repair and with the horrible experience I endured with them over the other flatscreen with the audio problem. I called up and raised hell and they did elect to install a replacement panel free of charge (this was done on December 28, 2010). On Monday, 1/16/12, just a couple of weeks after the 1 year warranty expired on the replacement panel, the TV fritz out again, suddenly losing picture and sound and leaving us looking at a blank TV with a small green light flashing 3 times in a row on it. Unplugging it, waiting and plugging it back in again did nothing. So I phoned Toshiba who looked up the history on that specific set and said from the sound of it the replacement panel may well be now crapped out and they suggest that at my expense I needed to contact a repair facility to get it replaced.

No, I am not forking over $700 or more for another panel. Instead we have had to order a replacement flatscreen TV of a different make (I wouldn't even buy a can opener if it had Toshiba's name on it after our experience) to replace the worthless piece of junk of Toshiba's that only lasted 2 years. I am now concerned that their replacement TV (for the one with the unfixed audio) problem might not hold up any better than this one and we will be forking out more money to replace that, too.

We purchased a 62" Toshiba projection television model number 62MX195 in 2006 . The first light bulb when out 4 times. They lasted a year. They did cover the first 2 (mind you, this was under extended warranty that began in 4/19/2007, and ended 4/19/11). After that the first two, they said they wouldn't cover the new replacement bulbs. Then, in Dec 2011, we noticed a funny noise, and the television has a red ghost to it. We had a repairman come out on Dec 27,2011. He said it was the color wheel, and it had to be replaced. It cost $195.00 for him to come out, $400.00 for the part, and $195.00 for labor. The repairman suggested we call Toshiba to see if they would at least cover the part, even though we were out of warranty, which we did, and they said no.

We had to pay for the part before it was ordered, which cost $400.00, and was told it would get here in 3 days . We called yesterday, 1/9/11, since we hadn't heard anything . The repair shop said they didn't have the part yet, so they called Toshiba. They were told the part is out of stock, and won't be in stock until Jan 23, 2012. From what I have read on the internet, they don't make projection televisions, and people are having a hard time getting the color wheel, if they can get it at all. They get the runaround, then eventually, Toshiba tells them, "sorry we don't make that part anymore". So now, we have to play the waiting game. It's frustrating to have a $3,000.00 television that has so many problems. We will never buy a Toshiba again.

I can't believe I stumbled upon all these exact same complaints as my story. But it's the same thing. I bought my Toshiba Regza 52" (model 52XV545U) at the beginning of December 2008 brand-new. I set up the TV the day I bought it in one spot in my home and have never moved it since. Earlier this year, I started to see weird horizontal lines across the screen, but they're mostly concentrated on the right lower side. They would go away if I tapped the TV. This would happen maybe once a week.

As time went on, that turned into once every few days, turned into every other day, and now it is every single day and all the time. I can hit the back of the TV (like they did in the 1960s! ) and sometimes the lines will go away for awhile, but most of the time, they come back within a minute or two. So, 3 weeks ago, I took it to my local authorized Toshiba service center, and they confirmed the worst....same like most people on here--bad LCD panel.

The part costs $1300 and another $200 to install. There's no warranty coverage. I spoke to 4 different phone reps at Toshiba who all started with "I understand your frustration, sir..." But nobody would send me the part without me paying in full. I even offered to cover the labor costs! They did not care one bit at how new this otherwise mint condition TV is or how much I paid for it initially ($1800 + tax).

I said if they expect me to buy one of their TVs every 3 years, then I could no longer afford to be a TV owner (and most people wouldn't be able to afford it either in this economy). They didn't care about this dilemma whatsoever and didn't seem to even care when I said I would never buy another Toshiba product ever again. (As a side note, I had a very difficult time understanding most of their operators, since they are based in the Philippines).

So here I am, feeling completely screwed like everyone else here. Count me in on any class action suits. Or I might just drive down to their American headquarters in Irvine, CA, dump the TV in their lobby, and tell them to be responsible for throwing it in the trash.

I purchased a 46" Toshiba Regza 46RF350U in 2008. This was a very nice TV for about 2 years. Then a thin red line showed up on the left side of my screen. For anyone not familiar, search the internet for "Toshiba red line issue" and you'll get way too many hits for my comfort. Well, I had purchased an extended 3- year warranty, so I called and had the entire screen replaced at no charge to me. It was handled nicely and my TV was back to normal. Until about a year later, the red line was back. I called Toshiba and was promptly told that I was out of warranty and my only course of action was to pay to have my TV repaired. I explained that their technician had replaced this screen less than a year before. I was again told that I was out of warranty and they were not going to repair my TV.

Because I did not want to pay $500 to have a new screen put into a 3-year-old TV that I paid $1200 for, I just kept using the TV. The red line would, eventually, go away after the TV was on for about 10 minutes. I was willing to live with this until I could budget for a new TV. However, now the thin red line has turned into a 10-inch wide rainbow of colored lines along the left quarter of my screen and, it doesn't go away. My 4-year-old $1200 Toshiba TV is now completely worthless and I am forced to get a new one.
