Bill Me Later advertised no interest for six months. After six months went by, Bill Me Later tried to charge me interest retroactively and then they started charging me monthly penalties for not paying the interest. The balance was paid in full. To make matters worse, Bill Me Later calls my cell phone three to four times daily. They do not leave a message. When I speak to them on the phone, they insist that all calls be recorded. The interest rates they charge are usury (i.e., immorally high interest). I am an attorney and will contact a consumer attorney about filing a class action against Bill Me Later.

I decided to purchase a set of $1,000 tires from TireRack.com in April and chose to use Bill Me Later based on the supposed "No interest for x days on purchases $99+" offer that they are constantly promoting on my account page. Well, when the billing cycle closed, I saw that I had to pay the entire balance by the due date to avoid interest charges. Needless to say, I was flabbergasted. I immediately sent a contact form through their website. After waiting for three days, I received a completely inadequate, canned response telling me absolutely nothing. I was furious.
I sent another form requesting a detailed response. I got another canned response (supposedly from a real person) stating even though they are offering an interest-free promotion, some retailers are not participating. I am like WTF!? Really! I was beyond pissed off. I can't believe they can get away with this. It is totally deceiving. I have paid off most of the balance and once it is done, I am done with Bill Me Later. It's a joke.

I paid my Bill Me Later bill of $39.98. BML said they didn't get it. Now I have to pay $66.98 with the late fee. I do not think it is fair since I always pay my bills on time and I am being punished for some red tape mistake on their end!

Unwilling to work with me to waive finance charge - The department they claim can make decisions are unreachable via phone. I could not speak to anyone who had the authority to waive a finance charge. I was told the only way to communicate my issue was by sending a written letter. So that is what I did, and did I receive a response? NO.

I ordered a pair of shoes on eBay that were never delivered. I paid with what I thought was PayPal Bill Me Later, but apparently is a separate department. Because when I went to file a dispute, I was told I was not protected under the consumer guarantee because I used the BML option. So then I wrote in a dispute and had to contact them again a week later just to be told they were not opening an inquiry because the sender said they were delivered. Since I am not a liar, we have a definite issue. I have tried numerous times to contact them again. Apparently, I will not hear from them until my bill is due. I would not recommend using this service unless of course you want to be called a liar and pay for items never received.

I contacted Bill Me later today to discuss a credit balance on my account. I had paid my account off on May 15th and was looking to receive the credit which was applied to my account for a previously scheduled automatic payment which processed on May 20th. I was told by the representative that I had to wait until June 19th to receive my credit in the form of a check. My payments were electronic to Bill Me Later and I do not understand why I would have to receive a check. The representative had no answers to help me, so I talked to his manager who proceeded to tell me that Bill Me Later had to review my payment and ensure that the bank was not going to reverse the payment.
Today is June 2nd, and a payment is still pending from May 20th? That doesn't make sense. I asked the manager to provide me with a follow-up call to ensure the check was processed, but she said that they do not offer this service and could not do anything else to help me. I am extremely upset with the customer service I received and I will not be doing business with Bill Me Later ever again.

I opened an account with BML only to have the worst experience of my life for online purchase. I bought a tablet; that was not as described, so I told eBay about it with a complaint. I was asked to send the item back to an address in Rosemead, CA. I had to pay 22 dollars to send it back and then I was receiving daily phone calls about when I was going to pay off the $300. First the tablet was only $149, so as I was talking to BML agent, they were telling me the item was not received. This is now 4 months after I returned the item, so I had to go through another whole complaint process. In both complaints, I won my case.
It's funny how when I got the BBB involved, they were able to locate the tablet that I did not return according to them. When I got the notice that everything had been settled in my favor, the letter also stated that the merchant can refuse to give money back to BML and then I would be responsible for the $149. I will be damned if I will pay for anything that I don't own! I just tried to close out the BML account and was told that evidently they had not heard from the vendor who has 70-80 days to respond. My account has 0 balance. Why in the heck can I not close it? I will get an attorney if I receive anything further from them. This is just **!

Let me give a little background. My late wife passed away 2 1/2 years ago, so since then life has been rather difficult. One year ago I purchased a plane ticket online and used PayPal. I got an offer for $10.00 off if I signed up for Bill Me Later, so I did. Most of my bill are auto pay so I just check the balance periodically. About 1 week ago, I started getting phone calls from Bill Me Later. I did not even know I had a balance since I paid the plane ticket off when I got back. One man told me I owed them for the plane ticket and a healthcare charge. I said I can't talk now as I am at work, but I did tell him I did not recognize the healthcare charge. I had planned to review my statements to make sure I had paid the ticket.
Today, 5/15/13, I called Bill Me Later customer service and spoke to Brittany. I asked Brittany about the plane ticket and she assured me that it had been paid. She informed me that the healthcare charge was for Salucro Healthcare on August 22, 2012 for $632.40. When I looked online at the statement, it did not give any details about the charge. I asked Brittany about the charge and she did not have much info either. Last year I did not go to the doctor that I remember. I remember thinking that Blue Cross is making money off me this year. When I do go, I use my insurance which is Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois. I have funds in my account so I pay the co-pays usually at the desk. I have no need whatsoever to use Bill Me Later to pay for a healthcare visit. The only time I use PayPal is for online purchases I am insured about.
So they have been taking money out of my account since August 22, 2012. I told Brittany that I am going to dispute this charge. She told me how to do that. I completed a complaint form today and mailed it in. I feel that this charge is in error and I am not going to pay it. Your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.

I was online today when I discovered that my primary funding source in PayPal was BillMeLater rather than my checking account. I have always had my checking account as my primary and could not figure out why this had changed. I spoke with BillMeLater, then PayPal, then BillMeLater, then PayPal, then BillMeLater. I was never able to receive a satisfactory answer as to how my primary funding source was changed. The best answer I could get was that BillMeLater was a PayPal services and as a PayPal customer it was considered my primary funding source when I got approved by BillMeLater.
I was approved by BillMeLater a long time ago and it has never been on my PayPal account. I never put it on my PayPal account. I don't understand how PayPal can just put it on my account without notifying me. PayPal’s response was that it was a PayPal service. I still don't understand how they can change the way my account is set up without telling me. There is something just not right about this. Now I have charges on BillMeLater that should have come directly out of my checking account.

I opened a Bill Me Later account and authorized a purchase from NordicTrack on 11/28/11 using Bill Me Later. Bill Me Later offers no interest if paid within 1 year and does not require payments. I paid this purchase off in full with Bill Me Later on 4/13/12 making a final payment of $500.00. Once I received the statement closed on 5/13/12 showing final payment and zero balance, I did not make any further purchases using this account. On 3/14/13, I received a call from Bill Me Later (Tamara, Rep ID **) saying I was past due for a purchase made from Icon (NordicTrack) on 6/1/12 in the amount of $359.60.
I advised I had not made any purchases nor authorized any further Bill Me Later transactions since 11/28/11. She then three-wayed NordicTrack, and we were sent to various departments but they could not find any additional purchases made. Tamara stated she could not remove any charges, and NordicTrack stated they would have their Bill Me Later liaison, Andrea **, contact Bill Me Later to get this cleared since they could not see any purchases made beyond 11/28/11 by me. Tamara stated she would follow up to ensure they were contacted by Andrea and my account was cleared. She stated she would call me back within a week to let me know.
I did not hear back from her and then I received another call from Alisha (Emp ID **). She stated I have to take this up with Icon/NordicTrack since they received the money from Bill Me Later. We had already spoken to them on several occasions, and they could not find any additional purchases made beyond 11/28/11. They advised me I only had 30 days to dispute a charge, but I did not authorize nor did I receive any paper bills and discovered I deleted the electronic bill sent on 2/13 (almost 1 year after the charge was illegally put on my Bill Me Later).

I purchased a $17 item using PayPal. Unbeknownst to me, an account was opened for Bill Me Later. Supposedly, I completed an online application, but I do not recall doing so though the transaction was valid. The fact that a credit account is being opened is not clear and appears to be an intentional tactic to deceive the consumer based on my experience. I received a call from Bill Me Later explaining that the past due amount exceeded $100 including late fees and interest. After several calls, Bill Me Later agreed to waive the late fees, but I was still charged a finance charge bringing the total to $28.68. I asked them to waive the interest charge but they refused to do so. While I certainly may have completed the form online, it was not clear to me that I was opening a line of credit. I would never agree to open one had I known.

In July of 2012, I purchased an item on eBay and paid for it using PayPal as I usually do with online purchases. Several months later, I received a bill from Bill Me Later stating that I owe them for this purchase. I informed them that I did not bill the purchase to Bill Me Later, so this constituted an unauthorized re-routing of my PayPal request to Bill Me Later and requested that they reverse their error and return the charge to PayPal so I can pay for it. They stated that due to internal regulations, this was impossible (even though Bill Me Later is a part of PayPal) and the only option would be for me to have the merchant refund the item and then pay for it using PayPal. Unfortunately, by this time (more than 3 months after the purchase), the merchant refused to refund the purchase or transfer the fee to another mode of payment. I have called Bill Me Later and PayPal several times to rectify the issue but they refuse to resolve this issue, even though it has resulted from their unauthorized use of my Bill Me Later account for a charge that I had directed to the PayPal account.
After months of phone calls with all parties involved and not having any success in resolving the issue, I have lost all hope of PayPal resolving this issue. I took my complaint to Better Business Bureau, but PayPal remained unrepentant of their intentional or mistaken unauthorized use of the Bill Me Later account. I have decided I will not yield to this manhandling of my rights and will broadcast it as much as I can.

I ordered two items from eBay and tried the Bill Me Later option. The amount for both items was less than $80. I never received a bill from them for a couple of months, then when I did, it was an outrageous amount. I called them and made arrangements to pay off the balance in three payments of $70. They were automatically set up to come out of my account. They assured me that the debt would be cancelled after the $210 was paid. I continued to get harassing phone messages (during the day while I was at work), so I called them to find out why I was still getting calls after I had paid it off. They said I still owe $150. They wouldn't explain why they didn't follow through with their promise and why I still owe them money. All I know is that they make it extremely difficult and expensive to get your debt cleared with them, no matter how small the amount you owed originally. They are scam artists.

I wanted to purchase a purse online and for some reason, I couldn't get it to recognize my credit card info so I resorted to Bill Me Later. A couple days later, I received an email from them and used a link in the email to pay the bill using my credit card info. I thought I was done. Two or three months later, I received a bill in the mail. The bill for the $54 purse was now $118. I immediately sent a check for the original cost and explained that I thought it was paid. Something was wrong with the website where I thought I paid it, etc. I get calls every night from this company. Today, I was told that the $60 interest payment has now blossomed to a charge of $178 and they will continue to call and harass me. I absolutely refuse to pay this and told her so. In mid-2012, I made two eBay purchases via PayPal (something I have done many times before). I thought I had paid for these inexpensive items using the credit card info I had entered and had no need of credit from anyone else. Some months later, I began getting postal mail from Bill Me Later. I assumed it was marketing and so ignored it. Eventually, I began receiving phone calls. I learned to my shock that this company I had never heard of had decided out of the clear blue that I owed them money, plus penalties and fees, costing more than the original merchandise!
Recently, I called offering to at least pay them the principal - the cost of the goods I received. The customer service agent put me on hold to speak to a supervisor. When she returned, I was told that this would be acceptable, so I happily paid. She said I would receive documentation that the account had been closed within one month. One month has passed and far from receiving notification of the account closure. I have received yet another bill exceeding the value of the merchandise!
These people are utter scoundrels and something should be done. I allege fraud. I have reported this to the Better Business Bureau, the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center and the FTC. I urge anyone else having similar problems to do likewise.

I got on the phone and told them to close my account, and we sent them a payment in full. They gave me the amount, and I sent them a check and assured me the account was closed. It didn't work. Well 2 months later, I try to pay the bill and no one can help me. There seems to be a missing tab on my page where most people can just click it and schedule a payment; but it is not on my page. I've called Bill me Later and PayPal. No help. I've also tried to make a payment on the phone, and it said I owe nothing so I couldn't pay. I do owe $250.00! I still owe three hundred dollars, and I don't get a bill or email notifications because they won't change the information back to my information. It is difficult, and I have talked to numerous people and they say they can't help me because our information doesn't match. I feel like the bad guy, instead of the victim. I joined in it inadvertently (yes, I know that's dumb) while trying to pay for an online order for a clothing vendor for about 120 dollars. I thought I was signing up for PayPal or a branch of PayPal. All I wanted to do was to make the onetime payment immediately. But once I'd signed on for Bill Me Later, realizing my mistake, I called their customer "service" and was told I couldn't cancel my account. All I want to do is to pay the original bill, now. But I'm told I have to wait until it posts as a statement. Several days later, I still don't have a statement or an account number. They do not appear in my account page when I log in, so I can't pay the bill. I don't want to link to a bank account.
I just want to pay by mail at this point to avoid getting entangled with Bill Me Later even further. But I can't get an account number from them to put on the check, as required. So I owe money. I have the funds to pay, but they've set things up so that I can't pay - I have to wait for a statement. I suspect things are set up this way in hopes that I will miss the payment and pay a late fee. Extremely cumbersome to use - all I wanted to do in the first place is pay on line by credit card with a vendor that uses PayPal.

This is a terrible company. I have 800 credit and has paid off my bills in full, large bills. One day, I went to make a payment after changing my email via their customer service help line and saw my account has been disabled and closed out with no warning or reason. Endless hours of calls trying to find someone with some shred of common sense and education left me nowhere. This is happening to people on a daily basis. If you are a legitimate consumer looking to pay your bills as opposed to a slob that will make them a ton of interest, your account can and will be shut down with no explanation. BML and PayPal are the most irresponsible, disgusting, idiotic, unprofessional monopoly of con men I have ever seen.
These companies should be fully investigated and shut down by the feds. They think they can play mindless robot games and hold people's money hostage while feeding them ** until they either give up as they know most will. I have done tens of thousands of dollars of business, only to be treated like dirt time and time again. I could go on all day about the unethical and inhumane actions by these monopolies, but there are already droves and armies of other people voicing their similar problems and complaints. We received a bill from BillMeLater. It was not our charge. We did not even know we had an account with this company. The charge was made way back in January and they are contacting us now, 10 months later, with a bill and hefty late charges. We asked them to send proof we received the product from the vendor but they could not provide that. We are a professional company and charge such purchases on our company credit card. We have no need for such an account. Our claim was denied.
In a letter sent from BillMeLater, we would have to file a police report for the $14.62 charge (with late fees, $24.76) to go to the next level of review. We went to the police department and they said it would be a waste of time because they would not investigate such a small amount. Does this company really want to waste valuable law enforcement time on such filings or is it just a way to have consumers pay these false charges because it is too much trouble to get the refund they deserve? I saw so many other complaints online with the same story. So it seems to be a common practice with this company. I am left with no other alternative but to pay this or be slapped with additional late charges ($35 if not paid in 15 days) and have my credit hurt by this.

Late fees, inflexibility, false advertising with six months: I made some purchases through eBay with Bill Me Later in February. They allowed me to use Bill Me Later even though in June they asked for the payment saying that my purchases didn't count for the six-month promotion as advertised by them on eBay. I wasn't overly satisfied with the products I purchased on eBay but decided to keep them to avoid all the hassle with returning the items and positive and negative feedback from other eBayers. The calculator I purchased doesn't correctly add numbers. The dresses I bought on eBay didn't quite fit. The arms were too tight on one dress. The other one doesn't completely cover my chest without an undershirt. Also, I didn't have modest dresses to wear to church and felt that I had to make do with what I had ordered online, as that part of California where I was living doesn't sell modest dresses to wear for church.
In June this year, about the same time as the first payment was due, someone stole my debit card information and overdrew my account. On top of this, I was unable to make the first payment because I was sorting out all the identify theft with my bank, and my card was cancelled. I started receiving harassing phone calls from Bill Me Later every day. I called them before the next payment was due and explained that I had been the victim of identity theft and I was still sorting it out financially, and they agreed to waive one of the fees they charged me. I sent them an email asking if they could waive another of the fees, and their response was no, as per the terms of the agreement. After paying fifty-seven dollars for the first payment, I wasn't able to make any other payments due to financial hardships and moving to another state.
I receive harassing phone calls from Bill Me Later every day, several times a day. I mailed them a check for one hundred and eight dollars (that is my new minimum payment after interest and late fees since August), and to my dismay, I found out that I have to mail the check to Atlanta, GA. I continued to receive harassing phone calls every day, several times a day, from a different Bill Me Later number. This time, the calls are on Sundays. I called Bill Me Later this morning and spoke to a representative and asked that they not charge me the $35 for this month's payment because the check for the minimum payment is in the mail, and the response was that I mailed the check too soon to the deadline and that I could have paid the amount over the internet on their website.
I replied that I have been the victim of identity theft and that nothing on the internet is really real. How do I know that their website hasn't been hacked? How do I know that the people I'm speaking to about Bill Me Later really are who they say they are and that it is not a scam? I wasn't happy or satisfied with her answer and I said, "I want to talk to a supervisor." The supervisor was slightly nicer, and she said she would watch the account for when they receive the check and the check is cashed and that they could waive that fee then, and she said that she would have Bill Me Later stop calling me every day.
I'm still really dissatisfied with Bill Me Later's inflexibility for late fees, customer service, and unwillingness to help customers, especially during this recession. Also, it really angered me that I was the victim of identity theft and they can't waive some of the late fees when my bank account (the only one I have) was compromised and I was unable to access my money to pay them. Also, they only sent me one billing statement in the mail. The email billing statements don't show me what I purchased through eBay or if it qualified for their six months no interest, etc.

So, I chose one of my friends who had bad credit to approve for an account. The statement clearly said "you were not approved." This statement did not come up on my screen when I applied. It simply kept telling me about a technical difficulty so I called back a second time. Apparently, this other guy was just as rude as the first guy and said, "You were simply denied, ma'am," and implied that I didn't understand what I was reading but I'm highly intelligent.
I clearly understood what it was saying on my screen and what it was saying on my friend's screen. He continued to be rude. He barely let me get a word out, and continuously cut me off every time I attempted to explain what it was I was talking about. I would not recommend anyone to Bill Me Later due to the fact their representatives are not customer friendly and can do nothing to help you over the phone. I'm starting to feel as if Bill Me Later is a scam.

I signed up for a line of credit from a PayPal/eBay company called "Bill Me Later." They offered 6 months to pay, plus some $20 or so in credit. After signing up and fulfilling my part of the agreement, I left the account dormant, with an intention to close it if I didn't need the credit (which I don't). This June, I bought an item on eBay, an iPhone battery for $19.95. When I went to pay for it on Pay Pal, my "default payment method" had been changed to "BillMeLater", instead of my PayPal balance. Because of the way PayPal has their interface set up, the payment method is not obvious until you have already clicked the button to pay 2% a month, plus a $5.00 late fee for the first month. For the second month they usuriously charged me a $25 late fee because my balance was now over $25.
By my calculations, a $55.16 balance for a $19 purchase is approximately $35 in late fees and interest is 176% of the original purchase (88% per month) over only 2 months! They sent me an invoice via email, which of course had been screened out because they are also notorious for spamming people with junk email. I found the invoices in my junk mail folder later and cringed. They were also threatening to send notification to the three credit agencies if I did not pay immediately, plus of course an additional hefty "late fee".
This is like a loan shark operation, and checking on the consumeraffairs.org site I see more than 110 complaints, and 2 class action suits. However, eBay has big money and can afford to spend it blocking any litigation. Clearly this is a violation of usury laws (at least in California). In addition, they are acting as a bank, processing loans when they in reality are not chartered as a bank. They use their relationship with CIT (an equally sleazy bank) to make it appear as if they are a legitimate bank. I also logged a complaint with the US government Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. I urge anyone else who is having trouble with BillMeLater to do the same.

Bill Me Later is a scam. Don't use them. First, in simply filling out the form, they would not permit me to list my cellphone as my phone number, even though I do not use a landline. For this reason, they refused to consider my application valid. Then, I entered my housemate's landline number at our address, so that the number listed would match the address. This was also considered invalid. It is a blessing that I was unable to use them because I have since learned from various friends and colleagues the many dirty practices this company uses. It is a scam that happens to make it through the loopholes to be legal. Do not use them.

I opened an account with Bill Me Later and used several times with no problem and then didn't use my account and then one day I received an email for an $899.87 purchase to the Apple Store. Well I emailed them and called them to tell them I did not make this purchase. They sent me appropriate information to dispute the transaction. I filled out paper work and it suggests calling police and doesn't say anything about my account being still open. I did not have a physical credit card from them, so I have no idea how this transaction could have occurred.
I called their representative; which was rude to me. She stated a family member had opened this account in my name. I said no they didn't; I opened the account and not sure how the account was compromised. She said unless I change my social security number, they have to close my account. I was shocked! I have been a great customer and have used the account according to their terms. I checked my credit report and have seen no fraud. I feel this was billed to the wrong account or their files have been security breached. This is the craziest thing! I would like for consumers to be aware of erroneous charges being placed on their accounts. Thank you for your help!

I've used PayPal for a number of years and have always had my credit card listed as the default payment method. It worked great until I made just one Bill Me Later purchase. Apparently, now that PayPal and BML are partners, they assume that if you use BML once, it will always and forever be the default payment method with 19++% interest. There is no way to change that. You must be very careful to add your credit card as the payment method to each new transaction. I spent hours on the phone with PayPal and Bill Me Later trying to resolve this with absolutely no luck. In fact, Bill Me Later was downright rude. I will not ever use PayPal again because I assume that if they play "got ya" once, they'll do it again.

Bill Me Later called and offered me a settlement to pay off my credit card with them in October 2011 because I had contacted them angry about late fees and additional fees for using the credit card account through PayPal. I contacted them today (9/5/2012) after seeing past due on PayPal for Bill Me Later account and the guy at Bill Me Later that I spoke with could not first find an account, then he tried various means to look it up. His name was ** in Maryland Bill Me Later, 888-334-6270 and he finally found the account. I asked him why this account was still showing open, balances and past due balances on PayPal. He stated that the account was closed, and that I had paid $300 one time flat settlement amount on October 31, 2011 to Bill Me Later.
I told him that if they accepted the one time flat settlement and the account was closed and that they were not trying to collect money from me, why had they not removed this from PayPal since it was paid in full due to settlement. He said they do not remove it from PayPal, but why? I feel this is unfair debt collection and practice and should be investigated by Consumer Affairs because if they make a settlement on an account, they should close and remove the account. Instead they leave the account which continues to incur late fees, etc. on the accounts they have settled. Once settlement of the $300 was done, this account should have been closed and removed, not continuing to accrue late fees, interest, etc.
Bill Me Later needs to be investigated by Consumer Affairs, shut down for unfair debt collection practices and the fact that they will never send you any written documentation. Please help the people getting scammed by this credit card company and PayPal. I feel this account needs to be closed and removed and I asked for the account to be removed from PayPal. Thank you.

I found out they would not show a minimum due until the interest kicks in. This is the biggest ripoff and very deceptive practice. I am retired and get paid on the 1st of the month. I have been making my payments electronically to Bill Me Later also on the first of the month. Unbeknownst to me, I have been charged a $35 late fee for the past year because my payments are received by Bill Me Later on the 5th of the month. I recently found out my payments were due on the 2nd of the month. In April of this year, I noticed that there was a late fee by making a purchase on eBay. If a holiday occurs, my pension check is delayed. So, the payment was sent after the first. I called Bill Me Later and had the $35 late fee waived. I thought this was the only time I was late. At that time, I also changed the due date to the 10th of the month.
A couple of days ago, I just so happened to look into my Bill Me Later account to check my balance. At this time, I noticed that I have had a $35 late charge every month. I never get a statement from Bill Me Later by paper or email. The only way I can check this account is by logging on to eBay and then PayPal then to Bill Me Later. Why was I never informed that I was late by 3 days every month? Why would they waive the one month that I caught this late fee and never inform me that I was late every month? The answer lies with deception! This company is paperless for a reason. I want and need help to receive all the late charges and interest rescinded! Bill Me Later needs a complete and thorough investigation.

Bill Me Later (PayPal) sends out emails stating that your statement is available for review without including balance information and payment due. This requires the consumer to have to log into their account and decipher their online account to determine the amount owed. The last I accessed my account, I saw where I owed an amount that had deferred interest as long as I paid my balance in full by a set date. I entered that payment into my online banking account to be paid in July.
I just received an email from Bill Me Later stating that my payment was past due (with the amount owed) which includes a $35 dollar late payment fee and interest charges. I called their customer service and spoke to an agent to confirm their billing practice. I find it terrible billing practice that the only time I receive an email with the amount owed is when it is already past due and late fee penalties have been levied. I am sure this is done on purpose and an unfair practice against consumers.
I told the agent to cancel my account immediately and that I will be sending out a payment in full today via my online bank. I also informed them that I would be filing a complaint with Consumer Affairs. This billing practice is unfair and needs to be stopped to prevent taking advantage of unaware consumers.

I used Bill Me Later for a $19.00 online purchase. I received my Bill Me Later invoice, which I paid the day I received the invoice. So, I knew my payment was on time. 30 days after I paid the invoice, I received a phone call from Andrea in the billing department at the call center in Chandler, AZ. He told me that I still owed them money because I didn't pay my invoice on time and my account was not current. I knew I had paid my bill on time and had the invoice. I tried to pull up my account online and I couldn't sign in.
I questioned Andrea on the late fees. What dates did he show? I tried to sign in to my account online, and it wouldn't take my sign in. I asked him why my online account wouldn't let me sign in. He told me I didn't have a Bill Me Later account. This didn't make any sense to me, because I just signed in the other day. He got very impatient and condescending, informing me that I wasn't registered with Bill Me Later but with PayPal. I questioned him again, because I've never used PayPal and only used Bill Me Later once. I remember clearly, because I lost my credit card and I had to call them.
Andrea now got aggressive, talking to me like I'm stupid and I owe Bill Me Later late fees because I didn't pay the invoice on time and it's in the contract that I have to pay these late fees. He was rude and obnoxious. I started to record the call, because I was in shock at how he was badgering me, especially since I knew I didn't owe them any late fee. Basically, he called me mistaken, then dumb, and then a liar.
I was furious. I stopped talking and asked to speak to a supervisor. He badgered me again on why I wanted a supervisor and then argued with me. I told him I am recording this call and that I would no longer wanted to speak with him and to get me to a supervisor because I would not be talked to this way. He said he didn't understand what he had done and was obsessed on wanting to hear what I had recorded. I'm sure he didn't believe I had recorded him, and I'm sure he didn't want a supervisor to hear it, because as I told him, he should be fired.
He argued with me on speaking to a supervisor, because he could do anything they can. And I asked him if he had a supervisor, the person that he reports to. He said yes but that how come I would play the tape for him. I told him I would play it for his supervise and send it to him, because he should be fired and the Bill Me Later should be sued, because 1) I know I don't owe them any late fee. I read the contract and paid on time. 2) Don't call me and waste my time arguing and badgering me. 3) This is how you treat people who use your service? Do you want me to use your service or not? And 5) if I as a client want to speak to a supervisor, you transfer me, not argue with me.
He proceeded to argue and badger me for another 25 minutes on recording him and why I needed to talk to a supervisor. Finally, I threatened legal action, because there should not be any late fee. His tone changed. Furious, I told him he should be fired for not getting me to a supervisor and wasting my time arguing with me. Again, he asked what I wanted from the supervisor that he couldn't do, and I told him to have him fired, to close my Bill Me Later account, and/or any PayPal account and that I wanted to submit a formal complaint to the highest division at Bill Me Later.
He asked what was my complaint. I said for 1) wasting my time with bogus late fees and double talk; 2) not addressing my questions; 3) talking to me in a condescending, aggressive, and argumentative manner (He proceeded to argue with me about whether he argued with me. Unbelievable!); 4) badgering me about why I didn't want to speak to him anymore and prolonging this phone call when I asked to speak to a supervisor; and 5) not getting me to a supervisor or having a supervisor call me after I've repeated 53 times that "I no longer want to speak with you. I want to talk to a supervisor, preferably your supervisor!"
The phone call was now at 35 minutes. I was dialing my attorney. Andrea finally put me on hold to supposedly get me a supervisor. He got back on the line and said no supervisor was available. But now, he's acting sheepishly sorry; and I must have misinterpreted him. But he's so sorry, blah, blah, blah. He's sorry, but again, it's that I've misinterpreted him. He's a jerk.
I was furious! I didn't misinterpret anything. I have it all quite clear, and I'm really glad I taped it, because no one would believe how ridiculous it sounds on tape. Again, he wanted to hear the tape, which I'm not going to waste my time doing. Obviously, he doesn't believe that I've recorded him, which is fine with me. I was not talking anymore. He continued to apologize in a way that makes this whole phone call sound like it's my problem. Let's forget the whole thing. He said again that he's sorry if I was mistaken. But here's what he's going to do for me, as if I've asked him for a favor? He'll waive all the fees on my account and it would all be clear. He talked like he's doing me this big favor. "Then, you're all clear and you don't need a supervisor because we'll have the account all paid"!
Now, I was beyond rage. I clearly said to him through my gritted teeth "Absolutely no! You get me to a supervisor, customer relations, anyone at Bill Me Later who gives a **! So I can register a formal complaint and close any account I have that is associated with you! You have wasted my time, argued, bullied, and upset me on a ridiculous phone call for fees I don't owe you! I want any and all my accounts with you or PayPal terminated immediately, and I am pursuing legal action."
Sheepishly now, he told me he would have his supervisor call me. I got his name, but he wouldn't give his last name and the call center he's at. I informed him that if I don't hear from anyone, this letter will not only go out to customer relations at Bill Me Later (not that they care), but also to the Better Business Bureau and PayPal customer service. And now, I see there is a civil lawsuit for Bill Me Later! So, this is a long and continuing saga to tell you to run from any dealing with Bill Me Later!

Bill Me Later seems like a good deal with their 6 months no interests business model. I signed up to see how it would work out for me. I have several cards that I use, but I just do not like to carry a balance - that's just me. Bill Me Later is no exception. I opened the account in 2009 when the vendor I was doing with is affiliated with them (that's how I ended up opening an account). It worked really well for my big purchases, if the business happened to be affiliated with Bill Me Later, which is not always the case. I found out that very few vendors that I like to do business with are associated with them. For this reason, my business dealings with Bill Me Later were few and far in between.
Recently, I happened to be dealing with a vendor that is affiliated with Bill Me Later. But I was unable to complete the transaction as I was repeatedly denied access to my account. No biggie! The next day, I received an email from Bill Me Later informing me that they have detected my recent attempt to use my account which I was told is block (goodness, I would never have guessed if they haven't told me!) and to please contact them. I emailed back and asked why is my account blocked. The reason, they said, is because my account has been "closed" and to contact them. Don't you get the feel that this is getting to be like pulling teeth?
Okay, my question was, "Why is my account closed?" Finally, I was told that it's because of my repeated failure to make my payments since 2011! What? And not a late payment notice? It's taking me now 2 emails to drag it out of them? No collection agency haranguing me? What is this world coming to?! Oh yes, and they wanted me to call them by phone to talk about this. Now, don't you have this feeling that they really wanted their customer to call and shutting down their accounts gave them just that opportunity? Wonder what they are trying to sell over the phone! This is so bazaar that I decided to check online and see what other customers are complaining about them. After reading a few postings, I believe that they're doing me a favor by closing my account before they brew up more damages.

Stay far away from this company, whatever you do. I am not kidding. I was on eBay a few years ago and I wanted to pay for something. Bill Me Later kept coming up, so I said whatever. I had to sign up for an account to purchase the item because I didn't have a checking account at the time. I paid it off when it came the time. Everything was fine, until I noticed that my purchases after that were automatically charged with Bill Me Later, not PayPal. So, I called them up to put a hold on my account because I thought it went through PayPal to the savings account. It did not. I finally got a checking account and all was good with that.
I got a call about two to three months later from Bill Me Later saying I owe them a lot of money. I do not and I know I do not because I called one lady to put my account on hold. None of this was done apparently. Either I called a phony number or their representative was not paying attention. My fault? Nope. So now, about a year later (because I closed my PayPal account awhile before and later on, could not find a way to access the BML account), after roughly 300 calls or more (which is harassment and I could sue them for that), I finally answered a call saying "Look, I cannot pay. Put my account on hold now or oh well. Because I can't pay right now, I can't access my account. I've tried, nothing's happening." Turns out, someone changed my email to the account. So, I had it changed back and never received the email for it.
So, here I am sitting at home with a "we are about to make a final decision in one week's time" voicemail. Uhm, do what you want because you've already ignored me. So, I'm going to ignore you now. They can try to do what they want. I will not go to court with this scam of a company. My final advice, stay away from Bill Me Later! I read articles and they say 6 months to pay, but they lie! I had a Bill Me Later account that I rarely used (I used it twice and always paid my bill). I made a purchase on it and paid it in the allotted 6 months. I had a balance left on my account of $52 which I had scheduled for payment on May 22nd which was before the payment due date. I received a telephone call from their collections dept. stating that my account was past due and I owed a balance of $600. I told them their information was incorrect and signed in online and reviewed my account with them. They said, "Oh no, not that account, your other account." What other account? "The account that was opened in August 2011 that had 3 purchases made on it in between August and November, 2011."
I told them I didn't open another account. Why would I? I had a credit limit on my account of $2,060 and the purchase I made was for $205. So, why would I need a new account? They couldn't tell me that, surprise. Then I said, "What was purchased?" They couldn't tell me that. So, I attempted to dispute the purchase. Three weeks passed and I didn't hear anything. So I called them. I spoke to a customer service rep who basically was clueless. Finally, I asked to speak to his manager (Monica) who basically said, "We do see that the account was never registered, so you wouldn't have received statement notices." She asked me to check my PayPal account to see if any of these transactions appeared on it. None did. She then put me on hold for a few minutes and came back and said, “Well, the merchandise that was bought was similar to what you bought before.” Similar? I asked where this merchandise was shipped to. She said she didn't know and she wouldn't be able to tell and that I could have used a different "ship to address."
I told her the purchases were not mine and she told me it would be better to just pay the $600 plus all of their late fees if I wanted to keep my credit in good standing with the three major credit bureaus. I told her the billing address they had for me was an old address that I had and these purchases were made after I moved from that address. She told me, "Oh, you just forgot to update your address on your bill. That's all." Then she wanted me to pay the bill over the phone. I told her, "No, you send me a statement." The best is that their loss prevention dept. closed my original Bill Me Later account that now had a zero balance because of fraud issues but kept the one with fraudulent purchases open? Go figure. Now, I am stuck paying $600 plus for stuff I didn't buy nor get or have my credit marred. Stay far away from Bill Me Later. Like some of the other reviewers, Bill Me Later was attached to eBay. I admit I misunderstood. I thought eBay was billing me later, which I liked because I thought it meant I could see my product then pay. Boy was I in for a long ride! Immediately, I realized what I had done, called, and tried to pay them instead of using a credit company like that.
First, I tried PayPal and they said it had nothing to do with them. Then I tried BML, and they said I could not pay until I was billed. I said ** and demanded to speak to a supervisor. Mind you, this was all within 5 minutes of realizing that BML had nothing to do with eBay or PP. (It looks like eBay owns them, though I just found out.) Finally, after getting nowhere, I called PP again; and someone told me if the person I bought the item from canceled my order, then there would be no bill and I could start over. I hated to involve someone else, but I did it anyway and got lucky she agreed. She hated BML as much as me at this point. So I canceled everything.
I got an e-mail notice from BML that it was canceled and 0.00 was owed. I then told them to end my account and never bother me again. Guess what. Oh yeah, they sent me an online bill, because when I re-purchased my order, it automatically went through BML. I couldn't believe it! When I went to check my PP, there it was marked as first choice. It was not when I re-purchased. I turned over to my husband who is an accountant, and it took him days to wrangle with them. He gave them his bank account, and it was very hard to find the "off" button on PP for BML.
Well, folks, guess what. Two years later, they just sent me a new contract with all their new terms with an account number they claim is mine. They said if I disagree and do not accept the annual fee terms, etc., I must call them and maybe, just maybe, they will end my account. I hate this company. They are disgusting, and if I weren't the type of person to go after companies like this, I could easily see how they could take advantage. I have written them again but doubt it's going to end. They need to be shut down.

I purchased an HP computer and used the Bill me Later option for purchase. Originally, the terms were supposed to be 12 months. At least, that is what I thought. After the six month into period, I noticed I was receiving interest charges. I called the customer hotline and inquired the terms of the promotional period. I was told it was six months. I reviewed the paperwork from the purchase and it stated 12. They said they were having some promos that were different for different vendors (since it was the holidays) and they would perform an investigation regarding the charges and let me know.
I just figured if I was wrong, I would pay the thing off and be done. I never heard from them for 3 months. I inquired again. I was told that they had notified me to tell me the original terms had expired and I was now being charged interest at the 20% rate. I was angry because the reason I had not been notified is because I had asked the original customer service personnel (CSP) to change my email address and she entered it in to the system wrong twice. She misspelled yahoo, twice, and because of her mistake and their inability to notify me, I had to pay several hundred dollars extra in interest.
Keep reading, not the best part. Three days later, my wife got a call for me to call them. I called and they can't figure out why I was called. I asked the CSP to confirm zero balance and closure of the account. I still owed $9.32. I asked to talk to a supervisor and the CSP said, "Oh, I can take care of that for you." I thought to myself, "Thanks. never again."

But, if you don't pay the balance before six months elapses, you get charged the interest from the previous six months, which can be a lot (their interest rate is 19%). And every month after that, you get charged interest on the entire balance and the interest accrued from the previous six months if you don't pay the balance off.
Basically, it's like a credit card that give you 0% financing for six months on any purchase over $99. But if you are stupid and don't pay the balance before six months, they start charging you just like a credit card. I'm not sure why people have trouble understanding this. Example: I order $1000 worth of computers parts, and use Bill Me Later. I have six months to pay before interest and payments start. So I take $100 out of every paycheck I get (I get two a month) and send a payment to Bill Me Later. After five months, the balance is paid off. Therefore, I accrued no interest, and never had to make a minimum payment. I simply paid it off in installments rather than having to save up my money for five months and then purchase it.
Anyway, if you are good with money and understand how the service works before jumping into it, then it is amazing and makes purchasing large expensive things much easier to pay for. Take the time to learn about a service that involves money and your credit score. If you are dumb and put yourself into a hole using this service, you have only yourself to blame! Also, their customer service is great! After I signed up, they called me just to ask me if I had any questions and if there was anything they could help me with. Also I had to call one time with help getting a payment to post after it didn't go through,10 minutes on the phone and everything was fine!

They said that was a mistake and that I will need to pay my account. When I said that I would file a complaint with the ATG and the CPSC, they said that they would review the situation and get back to me. I received an email on 3/15/2012 saying that the review was done and my account was updated. Okay, no problem right. I got another call today and it's starting all over, they claim they have no record of the previous decision and that my account is past due. Shame on me for not seeing the payment made on my bank statements. Fast forward 8 months to my next E-bay transaction. I find out through PayPal that I still owe a balance, plus interest charges, plus a late fee. I never received Bill Me Later statements via e-mail. I spoke to a BML supervisor, Bryce, who could only credit me the late fee but not the $25.88 in interest charges. He claims they sent me a statement every month. They didn't ask for any social security number, nor other info, just let me select it as an option when I was paying for an item at checkout.

I called their call center that day, to try and get this issue resolved. I was put on hold for over 30 minutes, and they disconnected. When I called back, I was told the only way to clear up the late fee charges was to send a letter to their Actuarial Department. I did send a letter, and never heard anything back. I assume the issue was taken care of, and actually forgot about it.
When I went out to check my account a month later, I'm still getting charged with late fees. They did take off some of the late fees. I followed the next step, fax all my info to 443-921-1996, and as usual, never heard anything back. I'm sending them one more email to try and get this situation resolved, and if the late fees are not removed from my account, my next step will be contacting the Better Business Bureau, along with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. This type of business practice needs to be stopped ASAP!
My account is closed, and I will not recommend anyone to open an account with them. I have excellent credit, and I will not have my credit ruined by this company. This whole process has been a nightmare!

I thought I have a credit in my Bill Me Later account. I was planning on closing it, but just wanted all the funds to settle. This "online only" credit card is not for me. All my other bills either get sent by USPS mail or go directly to my online banking account. Bill Me Later was impossible for me to keep track of, so I missed a payment. I called and they were gracious enough to reverse the late fee. Because I had already paid the fee, I thought I had a credit in my account. So the next month I received a notice e-mail from Bill Me Later that said my bill was due. I also got another e-mail around the same time saying that I had available credit.
Well, this made sense because I thought I had a credit. This same scenario happened again the next month. And the next. Because I thought I had not used the account and because I thought I had a credit, I thought everything was fine. 3 months later I get a bill in the mail for a $31.86 charge plus $33.86 in late and interest charges. I called Bill Me Later and the operator was unsympathetic and somewhat rude. He offered to close my account. I decided to leave it open, pay the bill, and write them. It has been more than a month and I have not heard peep. Turns out that they were set as the default payer of my bills for eBay purchases. They often transfer customers back and forth, between themselves and PayPal, or eBay customer service. They are not helpful or knowledgeable, and have poor customer service skills. I managed a call center, I know. This has caused me to lose my credibility with long time sellers on eBay, which means I can no longer shop from them. As a collector, this has caused me multiple losses.
Bill Me Later needs to be held responsible for the damage it causes to its customers' online reputation and should be investigated for all the charge-backs and double charges they are continuously, and repeatedly conducting. I have been a customer of Bill Me Later for several years now. I don't know what has happened to their security system but they evidently don't have one any more. Recently, someone has stolen my identity and charged $2,938.33 to my account to purchase who knows what through USPS. I have contacted them and filed a police report. They told me that the dispute would take 10 days to complete. All I can say is that I am not paying for something that I did not authorize. They should be on top of their game. We should not have to worry about someone stealing our identity when they are supposed to be a secure site. I will let you know what happens. I will not pay!

There needs to be a zero star-rating system. I made a couple of purchases on eBay one weekend and clicked on the Bill Me Later option. However, according to eBay, they could not connect to the Bill Me Later website and process the payment so I had to pay by other means. A couple of weeks later, I received a bill from the scammers!
When I called to tell them that I had no real account with them and had made no purchases through their service, they basically said that it was my job to prove it! I am now in the process of disputing the charges. But after talking to their incompetent and insolent employees on the phone, I am sure that this unpleasantness is far from over. What a bunch of cons!

I received a call from Bill Me Later inquiring about a past due account. Immediately, I informed the representative he has made a mistake. I had paid my bill two weeks earlier and is currently up to date. The representative said I have two accounts. I told him that I do not. I have only one account that I am aware of.
This company is ripping people off. The representative stated the statements for the second account was electronic mail. I informed him that I'm 100% sure I wouldn't have chosen electronic mail because I like to view my paper statement monthly. I requested copies of all purchases.

I sent my payment to them in January 2011 using USPS Express Mail. Bill Me Later claimed that they never received it even after the post office said that it was delivered. I called their toll free number and the woman I talked to said it was basically my problem even though the postal service said it was delivered. I had to pay a $35.00 late fee. I bought several things in April from Egghead.com. I thought my order was being paid through my Discover card but Egghead.com put it through my Bill Me Later account.
So, a month later, I received an email from Bill Me Later stating that I owe them a total of $135.00--$35.00 late fee plus the $100.00 order charge from Egghead.com. I mail these clowns a money order to pay them off. Well, a month later, they claimed that they never received any payment. When I contacted them, they said that it was my problem, not theirs. I sent them what I thought was the final payment with a certified return delivery from the post office.
Miraculously, they received this particular payment. I thought that was the end of it. But I received another email saying that the balance on my closed account was $8.60. I sent them a money order for that amount about a week and a half ago. Guess what? They claimed that they never received that payment. I wish I could say that I never received anything ever from them.

In April, a BML representative placed me on a six-month hardship program. My husband has passed away and bills are tough to pay right now. The plan was for me to have payments automatically taken from my checking account by BML. In May, I had $74 taken out of my account to bring me current. From then on, my payments were to be $36; and $36 was taken out of my account in June. Another aspect of this plan was for there to be no late fees or charges during this time. Although BML is taking their payments, I continue to receive calls and late notices. Also, there are still late fees and charges being added to my account.
I've sent 3 e-mails to BML asking them to correct this. When I send an e-mail, they send me a form e-mail back saying I need to call them. I don't want to talk about this problem on the phone as their representatives have no concept of logic or common sense and I want a paper trail (something I'm sure BML doesn't want). They shouldn't need to talk to me. The fact that they are taking their payments out of my account show that this plan is in their system somewhere. They simply need to find it and correct it.
When my husband passed away, I called my other creditors and was put on hardship plans which entailed closing the account and repaying, minus interest and fees, over the next five years. BML was the only creditor that said they didn't have a program like this. Don't they have to have something similar? Right now, however, all I want is for them to respond to my e-mail with something that answers my complaint and then send me a corrected statement showing I'm current. And, as I said, I want this in writing so I have documentation as well as letting me avoid getting stressed out by talking to their reps. Is there anything I can do to get them to do this?

They operate with PayPal, an Ebay service. In fact, it's a legal scam that is apparently not quite legal (not in California at least). BillMeLater should be called BillMeSooner or OverBillMe. It takes them 5-7 days for a credit to show up from Paypal. It takes them another 8-10 days until you receive a check from them, assuming you call them as soon as the bank transfer between PayPal and BillMeLater happens. Strange?
If you transfer money from one US account to another, it's there in a few seconds. Obviously, these scammers borrow your money for a couple of weeks; something that made AmericanExpress with Traveler's Checks. And yes, while your money does not exist anywhere, you are paying them interest! Besides, they overcharge for everything. I have not checked but at this point I can imagine they charge their 20% interest from day 1.

The Bill Me Later should be stated as buy now and will rip you off later. I paid this off twice, never received any statement, nothing, until about 3 months later through email saying I owed $1719.00. What! I believe something else was added on but I just find it as the statement is very hard to figure out. It is to be deferred for 6 months and then I pay it off and what are they deferring? Plus they charge a $35 dollar late fee and 19.99% interest! It makes credit cards look good! This company Bill Me Later needs to be stopped from charging for every single item that you buy at 19.99%. Then you get the hidden fees after you receive the statement. The credit line was to be only $500 dollars but you are to buy $230 dollars before they consider opening an account with them.
After I paid them off and never received any statements is when I received emails of other stores you could use Bill Me Later. I deleted that and it was sent 2 other times of advertising their stores to me. Then three months went by, I received an email of the statement of what I owed and I paid them off. I have disputed with them and talked and emailed them. Also, I sent in a complaint to the Attorney General of Indiana about my dispute. I am not getting anywhere with this Bill Me Later and I am upset! I need a phone no. or email I can contact about this outrageous bill! I will never be able to pay this off. First, I do not owe them anything and second they charge almost a $100 dollars after the second week of being paid. It is just insane! I made the first payment online, so the next month, I did not receive a bill in the mail, but got an electronic bill. I paid the 2nd payment via Internet, and then the 3rd month I received a paper statement again. I mailed in a check to pay the balance off (still had not received my merchandise from American Girl. It missed Christmas, but I thought it would arrive by her April birthday). When I got my April statement, PayPal said I had a zero balance. But somehow, my account got switched to Bill Me Later. I never received another e-mail or bill (although they claim they mailed one bill to me in June 2010). I got a phone call 2 days ago that I needed to contact Bill Me Later immediately!
I thought it was a scam. I found out that I have been charged $25 per month plus $2 per month penalties on my bill for the last 6 months because they never received my last payment. I asked, “Why am I doing business with you? It was with PayPal? The representative told me that they are "interchangeable". I have been charged $175.91 where only $45.91 was the actual last payment due on the doll. I have now paid 110% over the actual price of the doll, oh and I didn't receive the doll until June 2010, which Bill Me Later knew, so that is why they "told me they sent me" a paper bill.
I am now in the process of contacting my bank to find the cancelled check. I am so angry! What kind of company sends out statements when they only feel like it and swaps billing companies on you? This is a very unscrupulous company. They are out to get money off you by not sending out statements. I have no idea if this will ever be solved. Oh, the other thing that just annoyed me was after I paid the money (amazingly he had all my billing information right at his fingertips to charge me), I told the representative I am so upset this is going to affect my FICO score and he said, "We don't report you to a credit bureau at this point.” Now I see why they can get by with theft like this. The final straw for me is that I decided to go on Bill Me Later so I could print out what they had, and I cannot even access the site! Did they switch account numbers on me?

Bill Me Later embodies all that is wrong with the credit industry and then some. I have never dealt with a more unprofessional, unresponsive and dishonest company. I am currently in a dispute with them over paying late fees and finance charges on late fees, even though I paid the original balance within the claimed "90 day window." Not only did they blatantly lie about the "No payments for 90 days," they decided to purposely further confuse the issue by sending me a letter stating my account had been denied (and I would be receiving a bill directly from the original purveyor) before I even received a bill.
Hence, the second reason, I did not pay my bill in full when I got my statement less than 30 days after purchase. Soon after, I paid the balance in full and wrote them a complaint through their online system. I received no response. Now, I have their subsidiary, NCO Financial, trying to bargain with me, calling me at 8am on the weekends and then every hour after that, and never even bothering to leave a message.
When I speak with NCO, I am told to call Bill Me Later and talk to them directly. When I call Bill Me Later, I am told it is out of their hands and I must speak with NCO. This keeps going back and forth. It does not seem like my situation is at all unique. My suggestion for anyone else is this position: send a certified letter with your complaint and copies of any bills, correspondence, etc.
Also, because they have obviously not bothered to pay any attention to it, quote them the Fair Credit Reporting Act, which requires them to prove legally and in writing that the debt owed is actually legitimately owed by you. Until they do that, they cannot legally contact you in any manner. Usually, it is so expensive and such a pain for them to prove the claimed "debt" you owe them, that they will drop it all together. Good Luck! I'm still in dispute. If I am not able to resolve this within the next 50 days, my credit score (which is nearly perfect) will be damaged. This has been stressful and a waste of my time.

Finally in May I was told that the case was closed- my account was 0! In July I got another bill for one months worth of food. I called told them the whole story and they told me I would have to start over again.
I am getting bills, phone calls sometines 4 times a day- they tell me ther is nothing they can do.

Following is the Bill Me Later fine print regarding finance charges. We have been working with them to pay off this account. My wife has had two heart attacks within the past year July 07 and Jan 08, she is now waiting for SSDisabitlity we shared all this with this company and we agreed to pay 100.00 per month on the agreement with them. They BML stated that no longer would we be charged finance charges and our interest rate would be reduced,
To date nothing they have promised us has happened they keep accessing us finance charges, high interest rate and trying to take money from a closed account which we gave them the correct information months ago and they still are trying to take from an account we have closed at one time was our savings. All we have left is a checking account which they have the correct information for. Upon speaking with them they state this is computer generated and they can't do a thing about it. I have a limited salary of only 800.00 monthly and we have medications for my wife that total 486.00 a month we don't have enough left over each month to even pay our regular bills we have ask them numerous times to work with us to resolve this matter so we may pay off their balance but as it turns out they don't follow through with the promises they make to us. We are responsible for this debt and have every intention of repaying as we can.
Please assist us with this matter because each time they attach to our closed account we receive a fee of 63.00 which now totals 1,197.00 to date for their mistake of accessing the wrong/closed account. Following is the most current statement as you can see they have not held up their end of the bargain and are robbing us each month. Please help us with this unfair business practice which we are dealing with each month.
to date we have had to pay our banking instutution a total of 1,197.00 for overdraft fees while they keep accessing payment to a closed account. This amount should be credited to this Bill me later Account. Since they refuse to remburse us for these charges to date.

I was receiving atatements from Bill Me Later every month since I opened the account. When I paid the remaning balance 2 months ago, I never received any more statements. I received an e-mail from them stating to contact them. I called them and was told I owed a balance of $86.00 and they have increased the balance again because of late charges. I have never been contacted and they have never sent any more statements out to us, so I thought the bill was paid. I would not have allowed the late charges If I knew about them. This account does not match my statements, and I was not informed that I owed them anything.
Now Bill Me later are contacting us and saying that our bill has increased to $108.00 . My husband and I called them and my husband tried to work out a payment plan, but now they want the money today. This is not right because out of no where we now have a new bill. when we thought we paid it off. I would have paid the charges if I had know so the bill would not have increased. The balance was $2.00 and I did not know it and this is why they have created a New Balance. I would like the balance adjusted since they were incorrect.

I called Bill Me Later back in June when I used them as a payment option, I was told by the customer service Representative August 31st was the deadline that the bill had to be paid. I then set up an online account with reminders to me to pay, so the bill would be paid in full by the deadline.I paid the Bill in full on August 22, received a statement from them on August 28 and was charged a finance charge of $12.15.
I called to see what happened, we are sorry the statement was sent in error and your deadline was August 1st so we will not the reverse the finance charge. You can write a letter and supervisor Kay preceded to give me a PO box to write to, I chose to write here instead.
Because I was given false information by a customer service telephone representative I was charged a finance fee of $12.15. Not only has this cost me an hour of my time but $12.15, I would like the $12.15 refunded.

Well, to those of you who love BML, all the more power to you, I just hope you keep on having those good vibes, cuz I did too until March of this year.
March 8th of this year I booked airline tix from Phoenix to Jax, Fl so 5 of us could go to our son's wedding 1st weekend in May. First problem: USAirs website was messing up and booked those lovely tix twice, I caught it and called the airlines to get a refund. This was on the 8th of March. I checked USAirs website and the refunds were issued March 10th. But along with that little info is a nice little blurb that it could take up to two billing cycles for BML to pick them up. OK.
I called mid April just to check things out, BML said to wait that the next cycle needs to happen. First week of May I get real antsie and call the airlines, who assure me the refund was issued, and BML is clueless. I have spent hours on the phone with both yoyos. I will no longer be a customer of USAIR either, have told them so for the simple fact that they were rude and as bad as BML on the phone.
Anyway, I finally called BML last week and they suggested I file a dispute, which should take about 7 bus days. I compile my little letter and fax it. Sooo,
I call BML today, nothing is showing, nobody knows anything, and I do agree, there is no customer service. So I ask for a superviser, his name was Kevin and emp code is 2628. And guess what, he asked why I waited so long to file a dispute.....I went thru the phone. I told him this whole sob story, he half way apologized, and when I asked if there was a higher up I could talk to, he told me he was the highest. Give me a break. I asked him if he owns BML, if not, then he has a boss and I will find them. BTW, BML seems to be in Md. now.
So I am going to make waves and pitch a fit, greasy wheel you know, and my recommendation is never use BML. I will cancel the account when I get this cleared up. I am with some of you, I hate credit and plan on digging my way out.
The grace period is still in effect, hopefully this will resolve before then, but my nerves are frazzled.

I opened an account with Bill Me Later in December 2005 after ordering Christmas toys through Walmart.com. I thought it would be a great convenience to but now & pay later, little did I know of the nightmare to come. Since day one there have been problems. First, the bill wasnt coming to my address but I was being charged late fees after I just happened to check my acct on the website.
Once I discovered that I may get a bill and I may not I opted for online only billing, didnt get those either but still got late fees. Finally, I set up through my banks online bill payment service to pay these people once per month on the date that once on the last bill. The minimum payment has not been the same yet, therefore it appears that I am not paying the min amount due.
When I call to find out why the min payment dues keeps changning, of course no one knows. It coiuld not possible be because I am using it and adding charges because the only time I tried to use it after I erroneously open the account was in July 2006 to book a hotel room. The account would not go through so I called Bill Me Later and was told it was due to my buying pattern. I asked for an explanation and the lady on the phone had no clue. I asked if anyone there could explain, she said no, she said she thought it was because it had been so long since I used the card and there was a late payment, although the late fee was refunded. She appeared very incomptene and so has everyone I have spoken with at this place.
It is hard to beleive that Chase bank is affiliated with these nuts. They appear to be some company operated out of someone's home. My next option is to simply pay them the $496.68 the I owe, and that includes the latest late fee becuase the min pmt due has changed again from $10 to $14 and my bank sent $10. I don't think I will call really not in the mood to deal with them. It's very tiring.
Repeated late fees charged to my account.

I sent a money order for 800.00 that was posted to my account as 8.00 on December 13, 2005. I called and was asked to send a copy of the money order so they could verify the amount, which I did immediately. I called at least once a week to confirm receipt of copy and to check status. It wasn't until January that I was told that the amount was verified to be 800.00 and that my account did not have a balance and that it was closed. I was told that as long as no one called that I should assume that my account was closed.
My account was supposed to be no payments or interest until Jan of 2006. For some reason my account had finance charges added on every month that I had to call in and have removed on top of this mess.
I got a bill emailed to me on January 31 for over 800.00 and a new finance charge. I called Bill Me Later again and was told that no, the amount wasn't verified to be 800.00 and that I would need to send an additional copy of the money order that I originally sent. They refused to reverse the finance charge that I wasn't supposed to receive. When I asked if I would have to call weekly AGAIN, once the 2nd copy was sent I was told yes.
The economic consequences that are going to result is that my credit will reflect that I made late payments when in fact this was a problem with the person who recorded the incorrect amount in the first place. The people that I speak with sound like they are teenagers who don't care. When a manager gets on the phone they are unprofessional and rude and treat me like I did something wrong. I feel like I am running in circles and am not getting anywhere. I feel that I have done my part and I am getting the run around because this place is so unorganized and unprofessional.

In Sept. of 2005, I purchased a bed through Overstock.com using Bill me Later so I could take advantage of their 90 same as cash promotion. On their website and their billing statements, Bill me Now states that If you pay more that the Minimum Payment Due but less than the New Balance and want us to apply the excess to the balance on a particular part of the account (such as to pay the Deferred Payment balance before expiration date), contact Bill Me Later at 1-866-528-3733 before you make the payment. WHAT A JOKE!
I have made two payments (Oct. & Nov. each $110.00 each) and called before each one of the payments and neither payment has not been applied to my 90 day promo. Every time I call (about 8 calls so far, I have to speak to whomever is available, never the same person) and I am also told I CANNOT talk to anyone in the credit dept. They are only able to make a note to the credit dept. relating the problem and I have to wait for my next billing statement to see the results; which so far are none.
To make matters worse, my next payment is due 12/29/06 (promo ends 01/01/06) and their fix which occurred on my current statement is that they have dumped my existing standard purchases all into the deferred promo; indicating that I owe not the $92 or so correctly remaining on the deferred purchase, but $384; my total balance. Of course I am unable to get any help in rectifying this before the next billing cycle and by then of course, I will probably be in collections if I don't pay this entire amount.
In essence I made a $292 purchase which I have paid at least $200 towards and this company is in effect, by their lack of response to applying my payment correctly (as their own consumer disclosure indicates can be done)extorting an additional $200 from me at a time when it is not owed to them.
This was not a complicated billing issue, but apparently Bill Me Later's business practices do not include addressing their consumer problems or fulfilling their disclosure notices. It is and has been quite a despicable display of misleading and fraudulent disclosure as well as incompetence, especially from a company affiliated with Chase Bank, USA.
I do not expect to do any more business with Bill Me Later and intend to take my complaint even further, whatever avenues of consumer advisement that I can find.

8-11-2005 Placed an order that was to be billed through Bill Me Later with the terms of 90 days same as cash.
8-22-05 Received a bill from Bill Me Later for immediate payment.
Called Overstock.com and was told this is Bill Me Later's error and to call them.
They were closed. Sent email.
8-23-05 No email response. Called Bill Me Later who said will contact Overstock.com and have this corrected.
Then received an email from Bill Me Later saying this is Overstock.com's error and to contact them.
Tried to call Overstock.com again but their phone system was down. Sent an email through the customer service web page on their web site but it bounced back.
Tried several other email addressed listed on BBB website, they also bounced back.
8-26-05 Recieved email shipping notification from Overstock.com. Replied explaining problem with billing and requested it be corrected.
8-27-05 Received email from Overstock.com saying the billing error is Bill Me Later's and to contact them.
8-28-05 Since neither company will correct this error, filed this complaint.
I want to be billed as per the agreement of the order I placed on 8-11-05. It is supposed to be 90 days same as cash. If I had wanted to pay interest on the purchase, I could have used my credit card at 15% LOWER APR than Bill Me Later. Now they want me to pay them a bozo interest rate for several years. This is a new twist on an old scam: bait and switch. Overstock.com's web site stated that in order to get the 90 days same as cash you have to use Bill Me Later as the payment method. Now that the order has gone through, Bill Me Later knows nothing about it and swears Overstock.com is in error and Overstock.com swears Bill Me Later has made some kind of error. I will not use either company again.

The following month I received a bill from Bill Me Later for $25. I called them to inquire but I was left on hold fo over 10 minutes so I hung up and sent an email. The following month I received another bill from Bill Me Later, again I sent an email asking for an explanation.
Sometime later Bill Me Later contacted me I told them my situation. They said they would remove the charge and contact Hotels.com. The bills kept coming and I kept calling and sending emails. This is where I'm at. Hotels.com did refund Bill Me Later for my hotel charge minus $25. They kept $25 because they said it is their policy.

ON November 23.2004 I called the company to pay off a credit balance of $ 72.00. I made this payment on the phone using a personal check,( check # 509.) Instead of the company processing the payment for the amount due, of $72.00, the processed the check # as a payment amount of $509.00, debiting an extra $436.08 from my personal checking account. On Dec 1, 2004, I called the company and was told that I would be issued a credit check within 7-10 days.
On Dec 13, 2004 I called to advise them that I have not rec'd the check as of yet, and was told it was not yet mailed to me. The reps were all callous, and insinsitive in their attitueds, and offered me no definitive answers as to when the check would be issued to me. I requested that they have a manager call me, and to this day, I have not rec'd a phone call.
My checking account now has a -$400.00 + balance. I am not able to do any of my christmas shopping. I have mailed them a letter asking that the issue this check immediately, and also compensate me a $29.00 overdraft fee, in addition to interest @ 21% from the date of the transaction which was 11/23.
