    I had a conversation with somebody from Community Tax and I felt very comfortable about what they were planning on doing. I had a couple of agents over the course of a couple of months and they did what they said they were gonna do. They told me what they thought it would come out to and it came out a little bit lower which I was very happy with. They were very helpful.     I've been very well satisfied with what they've done. Everything they sent me was needed. Everything was concise, very legible, and understanding of the legalities. There was no pressure on anything at all. Dimitria has followed up with everything and guided me through things. If I asked her a question and if she could not answer it, she had an answer for me the next time. There were some things I didn't quite understand and she put it in layman's terms to me. So I appreciated everything. She was phenomenal. She listened to everything that I had and consoled me sometimes when I was down and out. Anything that came up, she notified me as soon as it got to her desk. From the last time I spoke with her, it was nothing but a pleasant experience.

    I was scared to death when I first called Community Tax. But the rep that I talked to reassured me they would do everything he could to get a solution to my situation. They did that.     I had a good experience with Community Tax. The process took longer than I thought it should but the end result was okay. I had to provide a lot of data, but then it sat for a long time. They changed the people I was working with because it took long but all in all, it seems to have been okay. I had an issue with the IRS and that's behind me. So, it improved my life. I'd call Community Tax again if I had an issue.

    I was in a situation where I owed the IRS roughly $140K due to my inability to pay taxes during several of the past years. I had tried bankruptcy and could not even make the payments required for a Ch.13 BK. As a last ditch effort I asked Community Tax to help me work out some sort of payment plan with the government. Though the government was incredibly slow in dealing with your request, I was finally granted a monthly payment I could handle.     The process of first communicating with Community Tax before one becomes a customer was amazing. They got right back to me. They called, emailed, and texted me. If I had any questions, they give an answer down to the minute. But once they got that money, I was bounced around from person to person. I could never get ahold of anyone. Every time I needed something, I had to send horrible emails. I also had to ask for a manager. And I had to escalate it every single time, even if I just wanted a copy of my paperwork. It was horrible and so expensive. I thought it would be all files and paperwork, 1,000 bucks. It was over five grand.

    In nine months, I must have worked with five representatives that are directly assigned to me. It was staggering. And they didn't get back to me. It was like pulling teeth to get any kind of information or update. It was like they didn’t care. The company didn't care. It seems all these tax resolution companies are weird. They're odd and shady companies. The more you get involved with one, you find out they charge an enormous amount of money. And the only thing they do is just call the IRS for you so you don't have to. They don't provide a legit service. Or maybe they are all hanging on by a thread. I just went into this thing with a fear of the IRS and I thought they would give me a hard time. Come to find out, if you call the IRS and willing to work with them, they are more than willing to make all kinds of accommodations for you. So, Community Tax didn't do anything special for me.

    Also, the turnover rate at their company is so high. They must hire people to handle cases and pay them low. If you run a company and if you had people working with people and being just the middleman between the private individual and the IRS, you give them a script of what to say and do. And if you don't like them, you just get rid of them. A new person comes in.

    I called Community Tax and they said, "Well, let us look into it and we'll get back to you." I didn't have to pay anything, and when they came back, they said, "Okay. Well, here's what we can do. For $3,500, we can probably make this go away." That was very helpful. It was a bit of relief and they had a good payment plan. Community Tax worked with me. If something happened that I couldn't make it, they would take half of it and move the other half to the end. There are a few things on there that were squirrelly because what I understood to be the plan was, "Okay, well, you pay half of it, a minimum of half of whatever your payment is, or two-thirds." Because one time, I was like, "What? That doesn't make any sense because the first time, it was like two-thirds." Then, "If I had two-thirds, I have the third-third and I wouldn't have to worry about this."

    But I understood we would stack that at the end so I would have a couple of more months. So, if I missed two months, it would have been an understanding of, "Well, I would have one more month at the end because two halves are a whole and that would have been fine." "No, it stacked as a balloon payment." So, they worked with me to fix that, but not explaining that, "Okay, this is all going to stack on to your last month. So, it won't be $300. It's gonna be $500 or $800 or whatever it is." I said, "Oh, no, no, no. That's not gonna work."

    One thing that was a bother was my agent changed six times. The one guy got promoted, the rest of them I have no idea what happened. But every time I would call, I would end up with somebody different. That was a little frustrating. When I first got started, which was with my first person with them, it was a deal of, "Hey, can you send us all this paperwork?" "Well, I've been gone. I don't have any of this paperwork. However, I signed power of attorney over to you, so you can get the paperwork." So, that was a little annoying. The whole reason why I had them is so they can track this stuff down and take care of it. That's why I was paying the big bucks.

    When I was an engineer before, 3,500 bucks would have been, "Okay, hang on. I'll give that to you next week." But being in the situation I was in and even still in because I'm not getting the same type of work I used to, I'm working for 40,000 where I used to work for 120,000. So, that's a significant difference. So, $3,000-some is a big deal. I expected a bit more work out of them initially of, "Hey, we're gonna send you this paper. Sign it so we can get everything we need." "Okay, let me do that." That would have been a lot better.

    For the years that I was gone, and the two years that I came back and filed as a non-filer, the IRS sent me a check for 2,500 bucks, which was awesome, and they put it as a past tax refund. I tried to call them and find out where it came from, they said, "It was just your refund." I said, "Okay. I don't know what the refund for, but I'll take it." So, I'm assuming that Community Tax did that and I'm sure the IRS does nothing out of the goodness of their heart because I don't think they have one.

    I appreciate what Community Tax did. I've paid the same amount I would have paid back originally, which is acceptable. The only thing that I wish I would have known before I made an arrangement is that my bill would have fallen off anyway because the way the tax law is still written, after 10 years, and if I haven't been able to pay anything on it, it's voided out anyway. So, I could have gotten away with not paying the IRS anything. So, the IRS still didn't get any money, but Community Tax got the same amount that I would have paid the IRS. And it all would have disappeared at the end of the month anyway. But Community Tax filed the paperwork to make sure that was all done right. So, it all in all turned out to be a good thing. They did good for me and they helped.

    The experience with Community Tax did not go very well because it seems like every week, I was changing representatives because I couldn't get people to call me back or respond to emails or follow back up on. So, I wasn't very happy about that. I had to call a 1-800 number and go to somebody higher within the company to find out who was gonna call me. Then maybe a week later, they would find out and tell me who would be my new representative. They should be more personal and have people call me back.

    I don't have payments right now. I paid all in full at the very beginning and right now, the IRS owes me. But I haven't received the money that I'm supposed to, so it's not resolved. My taxes were amended and it was found that the IRS owes me. So, I was told that in three to six months, the IRS would be paying me. It's been over six months now. With these difficult times, I'm getting very anxious because I need the money and I'm waiting on the IRS. I would like to know if Community Tax is gonna follow up back with the IRS.

    I love my experience with Community Tax. 500 something a month is a lot to pay but they cut it down to almost half. My rep, Christine, was very helpful. She went out of her way when this was taken over from Liberty Tax to Community Tax. I didn't have to submit any more of my financial information. Community Tax gathered it from Liberty. Christine was trying to cut me some slack, which I appreciated a lot. She even offered services for me to have my taxes done through Community for next year. Liberty did not offer me that.

    The reps at Community Tax were a little rough in the beginning and a little matter of fact because this is new. I didn’t like how it first started but I was being patient. I had a lot of questions and all of them were answered but this was a lot of money. A lot of things were being worked on and I felt like it was taking a long time because of COVID. I always felt like I was bugging them. I didn't like that at first and I brought it to their attention. I had Chris in the beginning and some other person that never responded to me. They never responded when I got transferred to them. I responded three more times and finally, Chloe reached out to me and she was very good. The process took 11 months and we were able to avoid the lien on the house but I didn’t get a discount. I’m doing more of a payment plan. The resolution was not to my liking but it was good enough.

    When I talked to the gentleman from Community Tax, it seemed like a really good idea. They wanted to charge me $2,500 for help and I did agree to that. They still hadn't resolved anything, but my situation changed. Then they wanna charge me another $3,000 to do the same job they were already paid to do. I got hurt at work and my income changed. They said that because my situation had changed, it was going to cost $3,000 because they have to file all kinds of different stuff. They were saying that they had done a lot of stuff in the background. I never saw any of it but they had said that they could get me on a payment plan. That was well over what I could even afford.

    I deal with them solely through phone calls and email because they're in a state halfway across the country. They don't sit and say, “Well, okay, what can you afford? And we'll see what we can work on.” It's, “This is what your payment’s going to be.” At first, I felt comfortable working with them. I know they have to charge for their services, and I completely understood that. Beyond $2,500, they got me with a finance company. So, I would just pay payments to the finance company for that $2,500. When my situation changed, they assisted by saying, “We can get you into this other program, but it's going to cost $3,000 to do it.” I don't think anyone should have to pay an extra $3,000 just because their situation changed. If you already paid for them to do the work, then shouldn't it just be the work being done? All they had to do was change directions. I'm still paying the loan on the original 2,500. Now, I'm paying Community Tax every month too.

    I did a google on tax, then I did the reviews and found that Community Tax had some good reviews. When I had a conversation with them the first time, they were super responsive. They were very goal-oriented in order to take care of their client and the rep, Courtney, did a superb job. They told me that the timeframe would be dependent on the information I gave, then we got down to the nitty-gritty of what the IRS was willing to accept. I had to add a caveat of my living and working situations and as soon as they heard that I would have the inability to repay anyone in the fourth year, they came out with a very positive result. In other words, I didn't have to pay any tax. It was excellent and I was very happy.

    Initially, I looked for what they would propose as a potential end result and anytime they needed information, I supplied it. And at times, the results would change. Until at the very end, it came through perfectly. I would also suggest that if an individual is seeking Community Tax, he should first say that he's looking to cut his tax bill to zero. It was my fault for not saying that in the beginning, but they took care of it.

    I've been with Community Tax for several years. I dealt with them and they took care of me. However, my situation changed recently, so I had to reach back out to them. I spoke to somebody and they reached back out to me and I was good to go. At first, I was nervous. You know how it is when you work with the big boys. Somebody could tell me something, then the IRS sends a letter and I would think I've been screwed. But everything Community Tax told me so far has been the gospel.

    The rep was very cordial, explained everything to me in detail and walked me through the process of what the possibilities are. They also said to not be disappointed but they would push for it, and they did and I got it. Every direction I wanted to turn, it has worked for me. They are resolving my case. They stayed in contact with me communication-wise. They either answered my questions right there or they had someone else call me that had the answer. I wasn't happy with the payment but I could afford it. They got me not everything I wanted, but at the end I'm happy.

    I got a call from one of Community Tax's reps and she said that she could help me. She seemed nice and was very knowledgeable. Trying to get everything together took a few months. I didn't realize it would be that long. I figured I had to stop and think, "Wait a minute. This is the IRS we're talking about, so I think it's gonna be a long process." I dealt with the IRS in the past and it was not an easy thing to do, especially if I'm just a citizen trying to try to talk with these people sometimes. I wasn't professional, so I figured it's time to get professionals involved. They could push it. They could do something rather than me. Community Tax gave me feedback from time to time about what was going on with the case. It's done and I was happy with the outcome.

    I called them over the phone and spoke with one of their reps. She explained everything to me and had me send some information for me to get an idea of what it would cost and how long it would take. The cost was steep up there, but that's pretty much what you have to expect. With the pandemic going on, they cleared everything up quicker than I thought it would be cleared up. With the IRS being shut down, not doing anything because the country was shut down, I thought it would be another year. But thank God it didn't take that long.

    I also haven't had any issues paying them. I only owe them one or two more payments. They were always responsive. If there was something I didn't understand, they would explain it to me. I would call them sometimes about a letter that I received and they would be, "Don't worry about that letter." I had reassurance from them and I didn't expect that. I would highly recommend Community Tax.

    Community Tax helped me out. Those people always answer my calls. If I couldn’t find my case manager or my case worker, I will leave a message for her and she will call me right back. They directed me through the process and I negotiated, myself, the state of Illinois taxes. I made a payment plan, paid that, and everything worked fine. Then they negotiated with IRS, and they got down my bill a lot. I’m happy. The price was very reasonable and it was on installment so it couldn't be better.     Community Tax's message over the radio was clear. They said there would be friendly people ready to help out. The enrollment process was easy because I choose my native language that is Spanish. I talked with the rep Ruiz and he was very friendly and helpful. When I first heard his voice, I trusted him and that was key.     I have been with Community Tax for many years now. They helped me when I got into some tax troubles about 9 years back and I couldn't pay what I owed at the time. I made the mistake of getting paid under the table while receiving unemployment many years ago. Because of my work situation at the time I could not pay what I owed, so I was luckily put on an economic hardship type plan. It worked for me even though I was trying to make more money year after year. The resolution allowed for me to be sheltered with my low income until either I was able to pay what I owed in full or it expired after ten years.

    Unfortunately the year before it was set to expire 2019, the year before the pandemic, I made well over six figures in income which caused the IRS to cancel my agreement and I became liable for the entire amount I was in a resolution for- interest had accrued and it was a big amount. Well luckily they worked with me again and got me into another plan that works. They made me feel at ease and help lower my stress levels. Luckily, I only have a few more months of paying a monthly amount as is part of my agreement, before this entire thing in behind me. Also, I am still using them to file my taxes every year and actually have them on a month to month contract. I will continue to use them past this day and am thankful to Luisa ** and everyone else at Community Tax. I recommend them to everyone who tells me they have tax problems they need help with.     At first, one of the people helping me failed to inform me about a couple of things and that set me back a few months in my process. I thought I had already submitted enough information. He told me he needed such and such information to be able to proceed and finalize my case. I also thought I had sent all the info needed, but it turned out that I hadn't. The gentleman reached out to me weeks after, asking for that information, and I wasn't aware that he needed that. He just failed to properly inform me of what I needed. He was waiting, and I didn't know he was waiting, was what prolonged the process.

    Then I asked to have someone else help me and that person was great. Sometimes, he would take a couple of days longer than I would have liked to respond, but when he would, he was always very thorough and helpful. If only they could summarize all the points that we talked about and be more thorough as to what was going on, step by step, that would have helped. It is a service and it is something I’m paying for. But I understand too, though, a lot of that’s kind of on me to keep track of.

    We were hit with an unfair tax burden and I thought that Community Tax would be able to help us lower it. The enrollment process was easy but it fell into a nine-month delay. There were lots of excuses and we got handed off to about three separate representatives. Then, it seemed like you're not working with the person that's handling your case very much. I wasn’t pleased with it, especially since we effectively paid the money upfront. We just now got it resolved starting back in November. Our first payment is due and it’s coming out this August. The entire process was not handled very well and, in the end, they didn't lower the tax at all. They just acted as the negotiating party to set the terms.

    Community Tax should improve on their communication process. I was the one who was reaching out every few months for updates and sometimes, I got decent updates and sometimes not. I would not recommend them to any friends or family. They did not do anything for us and we didn't have any choice but to take the settlement that they have set up for us because it had taken so long.

However, in your case we were able to lower your debt by over $2,500 with a removal of already assessed penalties. The reduction more that covered the fees you paid to us.

    As a negotiating team, we will put our skills up against anyone when it comes to holding the IRS accountable to our clients and negotiating the utmost we can do within the laws.     I have been with Community Tax for a long time. I owed probably $50,000 and they did a program with the IRS. I stayed with them because the person I called five years ago or so helped me to stop the levy. The IRS was gonna be taking money out my paycheck.     There were taxes that were old and Community Tax negotiated where they came to some agreement that if things work out well, I’ll be back on track. I’m well pleased. But it was kind of rough in the beginning. Sometimes it seemed like the IRS wasn't gonna budge on some things. But it worked out. Community Tax followed up with me on everything. I didn’t have to give them a call. They were great. One of the main agents was Chris and he constantly kept me informed.

    I've been working with Community Tax for quite some time, and they're handling a lot of my tax issues and stuff like that. I've had good communication throughout the whole time. I had a pretty deep tax issue that needed to be dealt with, and part of the problem was myself. During the time that I was dealing with it, I was going through some pretty serious ailments, and I was in and out of the hospital for surgeries and stuff like that. They were having trouble getting paperwork back in on time. So, some of the issues ended up taking a little longer, which ended up kind of costing me a little bit more money because I kind of let things fall through the cracks. Towards the end, I was getting good feedback. They're trying to resolve some issues right now.

    The guy that I worked with in the beginning was Bill. He was pretty on top of everything that needed to go down. The thing that wasn't all that great was I had to keep on paying, and I couldn't really afford to keep on paying to the amount of money. I almost ended up paying the company as much as I still owe in taxes. So, I didn't get the resolution I was really looking for in the end. They did communicate back and forth with the people, but in the end, I paid $10,000 to Community Tax, and I still owe like $10,000 to the IRS. Overall, as long as you continue to do your part and stay on top of it, they're very helpful.

    I've been using them to do my taxes, but the last year or so, I've been getting taxes done down in Mexico with somebody and it's hard to get in touch when I needed them. It takes them a while to get back with me and then, I have to go through a chain of command to get to the person that I needed to talk to. So that's been a kind of ongoing thing. It wasn't too good. I like to deal with one person and not a whole community.

    When I first heard of Community Tax, people had 10,000 to 30,000 debts, and some of them end up not owing nothing, and then some owe very few. But with mine, I owe more than what actually it was. But I still ended up paying it. People that really need Community Tax will get it and it help them in the long run. They really weave out what took place of them saying, "You owe the government." It'd be a whole lot better, but they take what they get and they run with it. But you still gonna end up paying more than what claim that you owe. I wish when you owe the government and they say that you owe them, you're gonna always be on it most of the time.

    I was at the point where I was in a nasty divorce and I was paying out the yin-yang for child support. You can't write that off and I was not in a position to be paying the government a bunch of money. So, I didn't file. I had seven years of taxes that I hadn't filed. Then, all of a sudden, that started coming back to me. I did some research and found that Community Tax was about the best at it at the time. I called them up and told them what was going on.     It was hard to get in touch with the first agent I worked with. It took awhile for him to even get my case started. I started in November and Community Tax is just now doing my taxes. So, it's been a slow process. They got me down to $100 a month for the first year on my payment plan and then 500 a month for the next years.     When I called Community Tax, they were really good to calling me back and giving me information. But after I paid my money, it's been hard for me to get in contact with them. At first, they told me that it was this lady that she probably was not working there anymore or she was on vacation. But as a matter of fact, we had a call yesterday with her. She told me she was sorry about what had happened and that they weren't calling me back. I told her, “Well, it's been about two months, and I've been waiting for y’all to let me know what I need to respond about the IRS. Do I need to send the letter back? Or do I let y'all take care of it or what?" She goes, “I'm sorry. Go ahead and sign this in the back and tell me you agree with the amount you owe. So then I can deal with them.”

    I'm not too happy with Community Tax because I paid about $3,000 for them to fix my taxes and they said they were going to lower the amount that I owed but they didn't lower nothing. So I still ended up with a $10,000 bill. Then it came down because I had a refund coming to me. But I have to use them because I paid them $3,000. The lawyer called me yesterday and she was fine. But the lady helping her does not call back. When we first made the contract, she said she would be calling me every two weeks to update me. But not one time has she called. I call her, leave her messages, and nothing.

    Community Tax was cost-effective. Then out of everybody that I saw, they had an okay rating, kind of misleading a little bit, but most of them are bait and switch. I paid them to do what I could have done by myself. It took them a very long time to get it done. One service tax to be done shouldn't take that time. I was out of work for two years and then I had to go into my 401(k) and all that tax build-up. I thought it was gonna get some of the debt off and they didn't get enough. I owe $44,000 and it was pennies on the dollar, but I didn't qualify for that, so now I'm paying $480 a month as my tax bill.

    Why is this thing not done? I keep telling these people that I work for the IRS, they hold us to a higher standard. I have to make that deadline. I talked to Hugo on the phone yesterday and today. He said he was waiting on something for me to complete. I told him that he should call and tell me that. He said he would send me a questionnaire. I started filling it out. Then it went to asking me about how much taxes I had paid for my house. I already sent them all this information two months ago. Well, I sent it all to Hugo again. He sent me a message back saying he needed something for my daughters and he needed to know if we had received a stimulus check. Well, I've already told him this. Still, I sent him the information again. He's supposedly preparing it now. I hope that they will be done and have everything ready for me to review it today. But then, even with trying to get some type of plan with our taxes for 2018 and 2019, it was just crazy.

    I'm prior military. If you tell me you're going to do something, let's execute, and it was just not happening. If I did not work for the IRS, and was able to reach out and grab these people and say, “Community Tax is doing my stuff, who do they need to talk to?” Because I don't think the people that I was working with knew that. I literally had to bring them together to get them to be able to execute. The average customer would not be able to do that. I'm pretty much doing my own taxes.

    Community Tax is taking forever and not doing much for me. I don't have anything resolved and I'm not very happy at all. I think I have to pay another money for somebody else to take my case because Community Tax is dragging for over two years and nothing has changed. I've been telling them that they are supposed to talk to the guy handling my taxes. It has been over a month and they've never done it. Their follow-up is not very good. Sometimes, they say they're gonna do something but it never happens. When you call them, they have a bunch of excuses for you. Every time that you call somebody there, somebody is on vacation. Then you try and speak with somebody else and it's their day off. The cost is high. They charge and charge you and after they collect their money, they start dragging your case for years. Nothing gets done on time, the way it's supposed to.

    I reached out to Community Tax, LLC. from Chicago, Illinois back on November, 11th 2020 in search of Tax Relief Services. I had received a lien or wage garnishment letter, and I knew I did not owe as much as the IRS says I did. I didn’t want to fight the IRS myself, when I could have Tax Practitioners do it for me, right? My case was untraditional as I'm more hands on than most. Community Tax did an investigation into my tax issue as part of their phase 1 program. I have to say that you can't get a CPA to look over your complete tax record for $250.00 as their phase 1 costs. I think more of the money might be made through phase 2 and negotiations with Federal and State agencies. They are creating a new standard for the industry and customer best interests come first.

    I stopped before going into Phase 2 for two reasons, I was afraid of being taken advantage of not knowing what I was doing and I believe no client should pay full price for a service until they know what kind of options are available to them and what the expectations of the service are. Let that not be evidence of dissatisfaction: quite contrary… Let me put it into perspective for you here.

    My tax bill was $35,000. Healthy, but not massive. I would expect to pay around $4,000 to a CPA or Tax Consultant to help me with my tax problem. The average client, at a tax resolution firm, spends between $3,500.00 - $7,000.00 just to the company handling the tax problem. The more you owe, the more complex your scenario, and the overall time estimated to handle your tax resolution will lean you more towards the top end of that.

    I owed $35,000, I had 6 returns to be filed, 1 to be amended, and the TOTAL cost as a percentage of the TOTAL tax bill that Community Tax LLC proposed to charge me WAS ONLY 4% percent of the outstanding debt, including the investigation. You can do the math, but I'll give you a hint, it was going to cost under $1,500.00 in service fees to the company for an investigation, filing the returns, amending the returns and settling my debts for my particular case. Note, your price will be specific to your circumstances, I can't express the importance of that. You can trust this company. I personally did not go into phase 2 because,

    A. As I had stated early on, I was more hands on and only interested in the investigation. I would handle the returns myself. No foul. A+.
    B. An early on miscommunication between myself, the client and the sales rep which was later resolved to my full satisfaction. The Customer Satisfaction Department is. No foul. A+.

    C. I thought of a different way to get the tax bill handled. No foul. A+.

    My experience with the customer satisfaction department was A+. Definitely reach out to them if you have questions or concerns. Great overall experience. AAA+++.

    Contacted this company Jan 2020 to help handle unfiled taxes and owed payment. It wasn't until May that I was contacted to complete a financial questionnaire. I did so. I followed up in June. Response - "working on it". I followed up in August. Response - "just got back from paternity leave, working on it." I followed up in September. Response - "Trying to get caught up. Working on it." In December I received a letter from the IRS that I have 1 month to pay or they will begin seizing my property. I emailed Community Tax right away. Response - NONE AT ALL via email. I received a phone call from somebody completely different to fill out another questionnaire. I already did this. I called back and left a message. It's been over a week. No response.

    Yesterday I called community tax and was told my agent was on the phone with someone else and would call back. NEVER called back. Today I called Community Tax and was told my agent was on the phone with somebody else and would send me a new questionnaire and call in the next 20 minutes. Forget it. I have no more time to waste on this. I paid thousands for nothing. It has been almost a year.

    I owe so much to the IRS. It was going up instead of down. I did call another company and for what they wanted right up front, I could have just given that to the IRS. It was too much and I couldn't afford it. Community Tax was lax and more lenient where I can make payments. They called and kept me updated. I've been up under three of their reps at least and all of them have been very nice and informative to me. A lot of things have to go through the process but it didn’t drag out a whole year. They were reasonable and I'm glad that they did help me. They did the best they could for me. I'm on a payment plan but it wasn't so high where it would take me years to pay it. Also, it was an affordable amount and I should be finished paying them soon.

    The people from Community Tax were really nice to me and the last lady I spoke to was really helpful. She always kept me up with info. Every time I need her to talk and ask questions, she was there for me. The enrollment process was good.     The IRS was gonna garnish my wages and so I was really worried about it. I contacted Community Tax, and they were able to stop that garnishment before it started. The process took about three weeks. So, they're pretty fast. The enrollment process was good. They were very engaging, let me know everything that was going on and kept me updated on everything. They even faxed in what needed to be faxed in on my HR department payroll to stop that garnishment.

    The program helped me tremendously because I'm not able to really afford 25 or 30% of my check wage garnished. The agent I dealt with was great. I was impressed with his great customer service. Every letter that was gonna get sent out regarding IRS, every step of the way, he kept me up on. The cost was all right. It was probably expensive at $300 a month for about 10 months. It was worth it, though. Community Tax was very great at what they do. Working with them gave a lot of relief from stress of my wages not being gone.

    I was working for a contractor and I didn't really know how the taxes work back then. Then I came up to a lesson after two years and then started working for a company where they started taking my taxes. I haven’t filed my taxes until my third year 'cause they said I could do it two years in a row. Once I finally did it, I found out that I owed more than $10,000 to the IRS. So I had to call Community Tax to fix my problem. They worked with me each month, which was nice.     I've been trying to search for the best tax company that could help me with my tax problem. Fortunately, I happened to watch a TV ad for Community Tax and I decided to choose them based on that. Before, I didn't know their company. I had a nice and great experience with them. They did everything. Everybody, like the person involved in my case, was very helpful.     I talked to a Community guy on the phone and he was very detailed on what he was telling me to do. They explained things fairly simply. Community wasn't the cheapest but part of the reason I went with them was because they offered me a payment plan where we can do it over two years and take a payment plan. The other company wanted me to pay $6,000 right upfront. Obviously, I was calling them because I don't have a lot of money. If I did, I would just pay the bill.

    My rep was very good in the beginning. But I haven't heard from him in seven months. Also, my problem is that once I started using them, it kinda became more of a, "Now you're taken care of. Don't worry about it," then I got a sheet that said this is what's happening and then I haven't heard anything. I don't know what's going on with it.

    Community had good relations and good communication. I'm happy with the way things are turning out. But realistically, I don't know if it's anything I couldn't have done myself now that I see what they are doing. They didn't really negotiate anything. All they did was send the IRS letters saying, "He can't afford this so put it all on hold," which they did. And when the IRS puts it on hold, then I'm still liable for it. It's like a waiting game. I could have done that but Community charged me $7,000 to do that. I think they overcharged me compared to what I was told. But for the most part, I keep paying it and I'm hoping it all goes away.

    I'm paying $400 a month. Other than my original sheet that they sent me, I don't really get a lot of updates as to where I stand with the IRS. That'd be nice to know. They could tell me, "This is gonna fall off," or, "This needs to be addressed." I look at it as no news is good news so I don't say anything. But in the back of my mind, I wondering where I am at. The only time I really hear from Community is every once in a while. Someone from there would call me and ask me if they can do my taxes. I'm like I don't need to pay someone to do my taxes anymore. My taxes are pretty much easy forms nowadays. If I don't hear from them in another year or two, it's over. Great.

There were some hold-ups, but most of it was pretty good. I thought I could get more than what I did, but I'm happy with what I got. I've heard advertisements and they said that they could get pennies on the dollar instead of what I ended up paying on the full tax. I got rid of some penalties. As far as the payment amount, I thought maybe there would be more choices, but there wasn't. They only gave me one choice. But I'm okay with it. Otherwise, I wouldn't have done it. I've called the Customer service number multiple times to complain for help but they are always "in a meeting" and been promised calls back to which they were never received by me.     Community Tax sounded real good. They did okay for a while. I had paid them all this money, and when I checked my account two weeks ago, the IRS took some money out of my account. When I talked to the lady the last time, she said that I qualified for that debt forgiveness and I wouldn’t have to worry about it anymore. But when I checked my account, I called the bank and they said that IRS took $50 out. I called on a Friday and Community Tax said they will be closed that Monday and leave a message. I left a message and I never heard back from them. They just told me they would get back in touch with me last week because they were closed on a Monday for some reason. I never received any paperwork from them either.

    I like for Community Tax to do their job. I paid them all this money so I’d like to have stuff resolved. The money automatically comes out of my check. As a matter of fact, I kinda overpaid them. I got to go back and check with my bank because the original payment was $5,000. That’s a lot of money. And even though I never received any kind of paperwork from them, I kept up with the amount that I was paying and the length of time it took to pay it off. I got to call my bank and check with them to see that another payment that came out last month because it wasn't supposed to.

    Optima's rep put me on hold and this and that, and it just took too long. It was 30 minutes. And I’ve talked to three different people, and they kept pushing me to somebody else. So, I just hung up and called the next one, which was Community Tax, and they were right away, just boom, boom, boom. I dealt with this one person. When I had questions, Community Tax likes to get several people that would analyze the case. And the one that always contacted me could never fully answer any of my questions. And then, somebody would always have to call me back with the info who immediately answers all the questions that I had. It was weird. I dealt with a person at the bottom of the rung.

    They always wanted to make sure, I guess in that line of work, that the client is informed of what was going on. And you feel like you are important. They would have somebody call, like an attorney would have to call me back and be like, “No. This, this, this.” The account manager was probably the one that would call me back and would have all the information. But the person under him that would make all the phone calls to their clients, and just give a quick status report, could never answer any of the questions that I had. That would be the only thing.

The rep explained to me what it was going to be about and the enrollment process was easy. We had a $48,000 bill with them but after they take out everything, it will leave them about 15,000. The bill originally was only 25,000 but when they got through doing their system, they stacked it up to 48,000. They collected about $34,000 for me. They put me in a non-collectible status program.     Updated on 04/24/2021: Providing an update from last review (July 31st 2020). Still no resolution from Community Tax. Lauren from their Client Success team reached out to discuss my issue August 2020. Only actionable thing that happened was that I received a partial refund from Community Tax for the year that was not filed with the IRS. However, this has created a greater problem. The year that was not originally filed by Community Tax, was filed but in communication with Community Tax. It was stated it could take months for the IRS to receive. Here it is April 2021, per communication from Community Tax the tax return was filed but hasn’t showed in the IRS system.

    My case has been turned over to a different Client Success person Tony and the IRS has been sending all types of notices demanding payment. You can never reach the person managing your case at Community Tax. So I leave messages and send emails in hopes you will get a call back. I received a CP504 notice over the weekend. And at this point, I’m not sure what to do. All Community Tax will say is that the return is not showing in their system before any action from them can be done. However, the IRS seems to be moving forward in taking action against me for collection. Again, I’m back at square one and could have saved money handling this on my own. This has been upsetting and has turned into a nightmare that I wish would be over.

    Original Review: My experience has not been good. I signed up for service back in January 2020 and as of July 2020, everything has been filed. During this timeframe, it's been difficult to get in touch with someone and get a straight answer. I was given the balance owed for and possible plan. But honestly, this was no different that I could have done myself. I paid $500 deposit plus $4600 to have to 6 years prepared. Then I was told only 5 years would be filed and I would be liable for the tax balance and any additional P&I. What actually did I pay for? I was sold on the fact that negotiation would be done to element any abatement of P&I. So I am back at square one and could saved money to put towards my tax debt.

    I had Nick ** help me and he was completely unprofessional. Big chip on his shoulder. They lure you with a lot of terminology and confuse you to their convenience. Also tricked me into signing docs to run credit checks (hard inquiries) after making it clear I didn't want to apply for loans. Their customer service dept is also just as bad! I wish I could give zero stars. A lot of stuff they do you can do yourself. It's better to just get a CPA to help you. Please don't do what I did and ignore the bad reviews.

    Community Tax was really good. They took a little bit longer than what I thought, but it was complex. It took almost a year but I'm done with the program now. They set me up with a company that I paid to acquire their services and I paid that off and then I got a full tax relief. It was a hardship case. He owed over about 60 grand but they helped him out. So he told me about them, and I went to them. I first talked to Nick. From him, I went to Barry, and from Barry I went to Mary Lou. They answered all my questions whenever I needed them. They were very helpful and nice. They did their jobs the way they were supposed to be, even better than what I expected.     The initial contact with Community Tax is terrific. The people they have working for them are quick-moving. They respond. You get everything you need. They set up the cost, they tell you how much it is, they get you to sign the documents, and then they move you onto another unit. Right from that get-go there, the payment process to them starts, which through Home Acceptance Corp. The whole process takes about two weeks. And then after that, it just kind of seems to fall apart.

    We were dealing with the IRS for my issue, and COVID hit and it disrupted things. But prior to that happening, there was a lot of slow-moving and lack of correspondence with me. And ultimately, when it did wind down to the end, I was not privy to certain information that they were negotiating with the IRS on my behalf. And I’ve ended up now in a situation that I have to pay the IRS a lump sum amount of money for 28 months. And I was unaware of that.

    They got me out of a wage garnishment after five garnishments. It took quite a while for that to happen. Some of that does have to do with the IRS not getting the collection department working from home during COVID. But I feel the whole handling of the situation is a mess. I can’t get anybody to call me back. I only received the email yesterday after calling repeatedly this week asking for the information as to what it is I have to do next. I knew I owed the IRS, but I didn’t know how much or when or what they had negotiated for me.

    Every bit of my experience with Community Tax was good. I was a little disappointed at the very beginning The cost that was quoted on and when I got to the stage where I was talking to my representative that would be handling my case the price was higher than what I was initially told. There were two different people I talked to. The first was the customer support who got me initiated and then post-loan representative.

    Everybody was great and I wish I’d been just slightly more excited for my representative in the end. Everything worked out for me. I was able to successfully settle my tax debt. The people locally I looked into didn’t wanna take it because they only took big businesses. There were several times where we communicated through text or email, and my consultant was always quick to follow up with me, and she was always really thorough with her phone calls, pleasant, knowledgeable. However she put up with me dropping the ball on a couple of occasions getting her things. Other than that she was really nice and I appreciated that. She was amazing.

    I did my research online and on the computer finding out who might be the best for what I needed them for. Community Tax is pretty darn good. I’ve been very happy with them, as a matter of fact. They’ve been very personable. They have done a good job with everything that I had hired them for which was my taxes.

    They’ve been on top of it. They call me. They keep me updated all the time. They’ve been very helpful. I have to give them credit. Tyler, the guy that actually does my taxes, has been doing it for a few years now with Community Tax. I talked to him for the longest time just the other day, just chatting.

    The stress is back on now that I got an offer in compromise with the IRS. And I owe the IRS money, but not the 150,000 that I had originally owed them. It's maybe 12,000 now. But they want the money within five months. And I told Community Tax, it’s basically impossible at this point since we all lost our jobs. So, we're taking it one day at a time at this point and hoping the IRS is going to be a little lenient on that. But in general, they got me a huge deduction on what I owed to the IRS. The service could be cheaper. But you get what you pay for, and when it all comes down to when all these pay dues gets over with, then I can finally pay the IRS, be able to save me over $100,000.

    I had trouble from the past with my taxes so Community Tax helped me to resolve it. I was calling my bank, and I had Community Tax' number in my phone. I was hitting Community Bank but I wound up hitting Community Tax. I been having my tax problem for some years back, so when the lady talked and we corresponded, we went from there. I was behind on my back taxes from years back and the IRS started to come at me from years back, and then that's when we went and had what we did.

    I gave the rep $100 to open the case and get my records back for 20 years and gave him another 600 to get my cash going. And then when it was finally time to start, then they told me how much the price was and whatnot. So then, we went on and got the payment plan and finally got everything resolved. We finally worked out the offer in compromise. We just finished up. Community Tax did good to me. I would recommend them to somebody.

    Two years ago, I signed up with Community Tax for tax relief and they got back with me on how much it would cost after they examined it. I had to get them to change the person that was communicating with me because he wasn’t communicating with me, and he was kind of snotty. But then, they had Michelle who was contacting me and she would let me know on a regular basis what was going on. She was very good. And then, also Peter, the attorney handling it, was very responsive any time I would call. Overall, the service was good.     I called the 1-800 number (service Department) to see if they could help me. I owed $6,000 and the first person answer said she couldn’t help me so transfer me to her Manager. The manager told me that why not make an arrangement with IRS and make the payments with them and I was very shocked and I told her, "Why you're here then if you’re not going to help me," and she was just, "Call IRS and they can help you," and I was, "You guys are the one calling me all the time. That's the reason I call back and see you guys could help me out," and she said, "Okay I can help you but first we need $500 upfront payment," So I hang up. Call IRS and they set me up with monthly payment without a fee. Please people call Irs and Don’t deal with these rip off people. They won’t help you. They will charge you. Just make an arrangement with irs and make low monthly payments. Trust me don’t deal with this kind of people. They are not helping you.

    Community Tax completely failed to help with my tax debt. I had lost a job with a six figure income and was unemployed for 2 years, exhausting savings and 401k, and creating a huge tax debt. When I was able to find a job paying $12/hour, I retained Community Tax in an effort to reduce my tax debt. They failed to resolve any of the debt, despite my hardship, and their ‘resolution’ has left me with financially crippling payments to the IRS. The penalties and interest are still compounding. I didn’t get a penny of help from the $8,000 they charged upfront for my case. Avoid them.

    Community Tax worked with me. I’m on fixed income. I’m on disability because I have to have a kidney transplant, and they told me the fee was $3,500. I told them I couldn’t afford that. So, they broke it down to 24 payments of $176.41 with the company. That was how I chose them. They asked me for my information, I provided the information to them, and then after that, they did an offer in compromise. The offer in compromise took like three to four months. And then within that time, they told me I had to pay what I owed in my taxes, which was $598.

    I went to one of these little loan places like cash advance and got the little loan for them and mailed it off. Then they told me they got it because I mailed it certified mail. And then I received something else from the IRS. Every time I receive something from the IRS, I let them know. And the last time I got a letter, I owed $32 and some change. So, I sent that money order off too, and they got that.

    I got a call from Maurine and she told me she got great news. I owe $14,000 and something to the IRS and she said they got it down to $1,200 and something. They wanted me to pay like $233. I told her I can’t pay it until next month because I’m on a fixed income. I get paid once a month. I’m on disability. She said to let her get back with that person from the IRS. She did and she got back with me like the very next day and said, “I got great news. This is what I need you to do. Send me three of your check stubs and a letter from the disability people.” I did that and the wonderful news is she called me and told me, “Guess how much you have to pay now? $256.” So, all I had to do was pay $34. Since I paid the $34, now all I have to pay is $204 by May 30th.

    At first, I had Natalie, and she was really nice to me. She kept in contact with me because she was leaving the company. She let me know that she was leaving, and then my examiner will be somebody else. I appreciated that because a lot of people leave the company and don’t care to let the people that they’re working with know who’s gonna be the next person. I had Abraham after that. He was good. He kept in contact, but he never let me know he was leaving. So, when I called to speak to him to find out what was going on, he was no longer there. Then I got James and he was very monotone. I love Maurine because every time I call and tell her I had a question, she would call me. Her voicemail would say she would call me the next 24 hours, but she always call me the same day, and I like that.

    I had no complaints with James because he worked with me as well, but it was not like Maurine. She is a pleasure to work with. I went in to pay a bill to my little loan place, and the lady asked me for the name of the company that I work with, and I told her. She was like, “Did you speak to anybody specific?” I referred her to Maurine. It’s been a great experience working with them. I will refer them to anybody that has any tax problem. Working with Community Tax has taken a load off my mind. I can sleep good at night not worried about the IRS trying to share my check or taking my car. The only thing I had to do is file my taxes for the next five years on time or else my offer in compromise would no longer work.

    Over three years I experienced highs and lows with CTx. The final resolution came recently so that relief is a "the end justifies the means" kind of feeling. Great expectations on my part and a very unrealistic view encouraged by the original sales pitch by CT left a very bitter taste with me over the first two years. Representatives that failed to communicate and literally disappeared in the middle of the transactions. Were a frustrating part of the overall picture. This was not a 'cheap' alternative to my problems in the end. Paying $6000 plus to relieve a crushing $16000 debt that was mostly interest and penalties from the IRS may NOT have been in my best interest but once committed I had little choice but to stick with them. My constant complaint - my self-advocacy finally landed me in the hands of one agent who at last 'followed through' and followed up.

    I will never know if another service might have been better and I would not recommend CT to anyone. I can only suggest that people take it upon themselves to investigate all options and even communicate with the IRS to see if there are programs that THEY offer to save the anguish of the 3 years not knowing what the verdict will be.

    There was nothing done that I couldn’t have negotiated with the IRS myself. I didn’t get anything out of that. It was full of crap. They would’ve done the same thing what the IRS would’ve, if it was sitting on my credit as a judgement. Once I started payment, it wouldn’t have shown on my credit as a judgement. I worked in collections for 17 years. What I was promised is not what happened, but I went along with it. They promised that they could get a cheaper payment for me on the payback. They could possibly even get the IRS to do a settlement where I did a lump sum and kinda got it over and done with. I was told that they would stop them from putting it on my credit as a judgement, which it was already on there as a judgement. Then they were asking me for about the same amount that I ended up paying to the IRS.

    I researched on different companies and decided on Community Tax because of their rating with the Better Business service. They had some issues but they seemed to solve the issues that they had with the people. I paid everything upfront, which probably was a mistake. But they told me that the highest I would pay was $6,000. In the middle of all this or towards the end the guy that was handling my case left. I talked to them and they told me I had to file so many years of taxes, so I filed them. Then they came back and said, "Well, you gotta file another five years of taxes."

    So I had them file all my taxes. They charged me for each year, and we put an offer atop of my event, which took a while. And then that was kicked out because they forgot to send in one of my years of taxes. So the IRS had it for six years, they only sent the five years in, which they charged me to file all six years. So the guy explained it to me. "It's our fault. We tried to get in, we tried to fax them. The lady said, 'No'."

    We had to do another compromise. So this is taking anywhere from two to three years. In the meantime, I've gotten the rate. So when they came back to me on my third compromise I forgot what I settled for. I was thinking it was $63,000 so I told them that was a far stretch from 6,000 to 63,000. By then I had the new guy, and him and I went ahead and I said, "Let me talk to a supervisor. This is not what I was promised." So I could understand if it went up 3,000, 4,000, maybe even 5,000. I understand at that point. But when I signed on they said it wouldn't be no more than 6,000. That was a big jump.

    The only thing I can do is keep what I originally owed and then pay monthly payments on that, or take the compromise that the IRS offered me and do it in five payments. I gotta come up with all that in five months to pay it off. I wasn't really happy with them on that. They called me and wanted me to sign up for them to do my taxes yearly but I told them how I felt.

    I did tax debt relief and working with Community Tax was great. I’d recommend them to somebody else if they had the same problem. I had one agent and we kind of put it on hold for a bit because I didn't have the money available that I knew I was gonna need for the payments. Then that person left and I had someone else and then they left too. I ended up with someone else and she was really good. Every time I left her a message, she called me back. Once I started and signed the papers and we started getting everything, they told me approximately how long it would take for them to call me back. Then after that, every time something came, my agent got in touch with me. From beginning to end, the process was probably two years. I ended up having a payment plan and I ended up paying it off. We ended up settling.

    I was faced with an aging and complicated income tax problem with the IRS. I decided that I needed help and made a list of companies to contact based upon advertisements. I contacted Community Tax first. I was surprised at first contact by the comfort that I felt talking with Paul. This was very important to me. I immediately entered into a contract with Community Tax and never looked back. Christopher ** was assigned as my Case Advocate. He quickly took the weight off my shoulders as he followed the activity and progress of his several specialist. He explained the sequence of actions and the expected time each would take.

    In addition a bi-weekly appointment was established for us to discuss progress on my case.     Community Tax makes grand promises, take your money which was not cheap and do very little and very slowly to resolve the issue. It's been over 6 months. They pass us off to customer service and they do nothing. We were promised to get IRS fees and penalties waived as this was our first ever mistake when filing with Turbo Tax. We have never been delinquent so we trusted them to handle all contact with IRS. All we get now are threading letters from IRS. They won't return phone calls and we have been reaching out weekly. I guess if your problem is not big enough, you get runaround. Not happy.

    Community Tax did a great job for me. I had a problem with back taxes and the IRS was saying that I owed $10,000. I knew that something was wrong. Community Tax had to reach out to the IRS several times and they worked with me and made sure that they have to do whatever they could to make it so I didn’t have to be worried about the IRS putting a lien on my house. I was financially in hardship and the IRS pretty much agreed to a way lower amount than the $10,000. They definitely got me out of a lot tax debt.

    I paid Community Tax $500 at the beginning for them to represent me, and then they told me how much my payment was gonna be and divided it by so many months. I wound up paying $125 a month and once that’s paid, I'm all done. My last payment is in May. I paid close to $4,000 for all the services from Community Tax. Over the past year and a half, I feel that the cost was a little high but it's not too bad. I don’t really know what it’s like to have to deal with the IRS all the time like they did for me and what extent they have to go through to get the offer in compromise. And the Community Tax agents are awesome. I set up automatic payments where they just take the payment out of my checking account but there were a few months when I couldn’t afford the minimum $125, and they gave me an extra week or two if I needed it. They worked with me a lot and I really appreciated it.

    I sought help from Community Tax because I owed a lot of money. The person who I spoke to was really nice and their enrollment process was easy. But it was not a good idea for me because they charge a fee to get your taxes and paperwork, while the other place that I had spoken to didn’t charge me a fee. I wasn’t aware of that until I started the process but I was already in the midst, so I went on with it. I also had to send my paperwork two or three times to them. The first time, it got lost, and then the next time, they kept switching people over.

    But the thing that I really had an issue with was that they waited until I finished paying them off before they sent out the offer in compromise as opposed to doing it immediately and starting the process. It was a monthly payment, so it took about two years before I finished paying them off, and then I have to wait for about a year more because the IRS also takes time. I found out that they accepted my offer just last month. And I have to pay a big lump sum now. They originally told me I would be paying like $500 to $1,000, because that’s where I fit in when they did my income, when I first started with them. I tried to better my life, and for a year or so, I got a good job. By the time they had to do the offer, they went according to what I was making then, so now, I'm paying almost $8,000.

    There were some good people who stayed in touch with me and kept me updated regularly. And then, after I did my survey with them, someone called and offered me a little bit of extra help, and that was cool. But I wouldn’t recommend them to anybody. I did the same thing, by myself, for the state and I got a response fast and I had a cheaper rate. So, I could have done what they did by myself and I think I would have gotten a better result.

    I was in Community Tax's tax debt program. Everything was good in the whole enrollment process. Whatever I asked them or whatever was going on in the processing, they always updated me. We did the final $100-pay that we need to do. After that, everything is clear. Community Tax was excellent. I can recommend them to people who needs help.
