This is THE WORST BANK EVER. I opened an account online, then they flag and try to close my account. Mind you this is within 3 days. I also have my paycheck direct deposited. It's been 2 weeks and I still don't have my money. I was just told it will take 1- 2 more business days till I can get my money. They don't care, zero customer service. Zero compassion of any type or trying to help me in anyway.

Chase Bank is amazing. My bank card was stolen last night. They contacted us right away and already started replacing the funds stolen less than 24 hours. I already have a new card, they were so helpful. I was extremely upset about what happened and the folks at Chase Bank really did make it better.

Very long story but I zelled the wrong person (this person is with BOA) and this person has also been actively helping me get my money back. SO NO ..I m not dealing with some shady thief that kept my money. BOA has taken the money from her acct and put in to some "master Chase acct" because they didn't know my acct and routing number after she put in a claim because she knew the money was sent in error. Chase REFUSES to help me. I have lost 2000$! This was my JUNE RENT PAYMENT. It is now SEPTEMBER! They put it back in my acct at one point after 100s of emails, branch visits, phone calls.. then took it back!!! This has messed with everything I have financial obligations too. I'm closing my acct . They can find the money if they want it. This institution is TERRIBLE!!
And tell me why, after the same work paychecks for years, they can't even cash my check. It has to be held. Why??? I've never had a problem bouncing anything. I've never been negative in my acct. I pay ALL my bills. I work very hard. I can walk into Walmart and cash any check with no acct or good history. One more thing. I AM A PROUD AMERICAN. I Have A RIGHT TO DEAL WITH OTHER AMERICANS while I do business IN AMERICA!

I saw the $250 statement balance offer from United Mileage Plus Explore card while I was booking a flight so I went ahead applied for the card. When I received my 1st statement balance and it did not seem like it was including the offer, I contacted customer service and they said there was no such offer for my card. I have never thought this size of company would not honor their offer, of course I did not save any evidence for my claim. I checked again, they had a different offer then. This is first incidence and I thought that was just an accident. Guess what it happened again! My teen needed a debit card and Chase just happened to send me an $100 offer for opening a high school checking. After I spent the time to check with them for walk-in service (denied twice) and finally made an appointment for it, it turned out to be, the coupon code can't be honored by their branch! I guess I gave them too much trust. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Every employee I have spoken to has been rude and unknowledgeable. Don't get anything from Chase, it's a waste of time and you'll be worse off for it.

I’m a long-term customer of Chase (30+ year). Previously, I’d contemplated using Chase for more of my banking needs but wasn’t willing to take the effort. At this point, I’m glad I didn’t. I called today about the sudden interruption of email alerts on my account (last one received on 6.24). I waited for an unreasonable amount of time (I was on a 15 minute break) by the time I talked to a CS agent, my break was almost over. I called a second time; however, by then I had gone into my profile and updated to a new email. The purpose of the second call was to provide feedback on the first call; I explained this to the agent. The call was disconnected although he said hold to complete the survey. So I’ll give Chase the benefit of the doubt—maybe, the call accidentally disconnected. Hence, another issue. Service has rapidly deteriorated over the past years; so sad, since once upon a time, Chase had premiere customer service.

I have been a very loyal customer to CHASE Bank for a very long time. I opened an account for my daughter then elevated her account to highschool checking where CHASE alleged that they offer a promotion for this. Unfortunately, two different promotion codes later and too many representatives to count, they still have not followed through. My daughter jumped through all of the outlined hoops. She bumped her account up to highschool checking, made deposits, and used her debit card the 5 times mentioned within the promo period however, continual excuses.
This looks very bad for CHASE. It leaves a very bad taste for a new consumer/ highschool banker learning the system and having this kind of exposure to the big corporate banking system. CHASE should not advertise promotions they are not going to follow through with on their end. As of today, here we go again with a new promo code on her account. Let's see if in 15 MORE days that they actually make good on their promotion offer.

I’m having the most difficult time with Chase Bank. My dad passed away on Father’s Day 2024, I’m the beneficiary on the account. Going to bank and talking to the department who handles processing my request to have the funds released. The branch I went to blames the department who handles these type matters. Stated I could not close out the account. The beneficiary department has to do the processing. They so called input my dad's death certificate in the system and as of today they see nothing. NOW I HAVE TO BACK TO THE BRANCH. This is horrible service. I will bad mouth this Bank. I would never do any business whatsoever. All I was told I CAN'T DO THIS, I CAN'T DO THAT. I WOULD LIKE someone to contact me.

Chase Bank lets people in to open a new account by promising a 300 dollar bonus for doing so once making 500 in direct deposits. What they fail to tell you is that it has to be one single 500 dollar or more deposit. I currently have two direct deposits that go in totaling over 800. I have made several phone calls to find out why I haven't received it and have been promised it's going to he deposited. I called again yesterday and now they say, "No, you won't get it because neither of your direct deposits are 500 or more." Doesn't matter that I'm depositing over 800. So consumer beware. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS TACTIC! Chase will not honor your agreement.

If you are a small business absolutely do not bank here! It took me 3 times to file an application to open my account because the first two were “lost” (I should have known then). Then every transaction (checks deposited as payments from my clients and also my electronic transfers) were placed on “holds” that took multiple calls to resolve and release my funds to me. Then I tried to close the account because it was such a hassle and had to do that three times. Each time I was told it was immediately closed and funds would be mailed to me only to log back in a week later and the account is open and active and funds still sitting there. I still don’t know if it’s closed because their customer service reps just lie to tell you what you want to hear and get you off the phone. I opened up a Wells Fargo account in 1 day and have had ZERO issues since.

Don't sign up thinking they will actually pay you the bonus that they offer. They won't pay it. First the bonus said to click to open account and reap the benefit. Now since no code was applied they actually have recently loaded a link that sends a code to your bank. It was not like that before. They found a way to not give me the bonus. I ended up opening 2 accounts to prove to them that the code was not applying. Plus when you cancel something they will not get rid of the charge. I was with my old bank for 17 years and mad I switched.

I noticed not 1, but 8 charges on my checking account that I never made. I called Chase immediately and they started a claim, canceled my debit card, and forced me to change my account login user name. First they temporarily credited my account for 3 weeks then they reversed it. They claim they sent a letter stating why but I never received one. I called and spoke to 3 different representatives from overseas and got nowhere. I was told the claim was closed because I had no proof. I replied here's my proof, "Call these vendors and ask them to produce an invoice, bill, transaction confirmation. Anything." They told me they could not do that. So basically they sided with unauthorized charges over the customer. $150 I lost.

I tried Chase because of the recommendation from a valued friend who works for Chase. I spent over an hour setting up an account and also opening up an investment with JP Morgan. When I left the branch everything was a go and I was told I would receive an email to e-sign and everything would be a go, I received the email e-signed and I thought everything was good. I received a VM after the e-sign my account is active. Come to find out after 3 1/2 months that a security clearance that I knew nothing about closed my account and my money was never invested. Chase private client and J.P. Morgan was a waste of time and money. I would suggest Goldman Sachs, I set account online in less than 30mins with a higher CD rate and an excellent savings account rate.

Recently I got scammed out of $750.00 using a Chase credit card to purchase an airline ticket. And the scam according to Chase is legal and they refused to call it fraud. I lost the dispute, and Chase released my funds to the company meaning I have to pay them (the bank) this amount. Scam: I called Southwest to change and buy an airline ticket. When I called the Southwest number I transposed the last two digits. The company answered the phone as Southwest and when asked they confirmed they were Southwest. They were not. Apparently they are some sort of travel agency based in Great Britain and of course do their transactions in India. They changed my flights, and charged me the $750.00.
I was told this amount was to pay points needed for the flight since I was using my flight miles. They then provided me two phone numbers in case I had questions. After hanging up, I had a question. Both numbers that were given to me did not work. So I called the Southwest number. At which point they told me there was no 750.00 charge to update my tickets and that I was scammed. Within 5 minutes I called the bank who said they could not stop the payment. Note Chase Financial institution did take off $100.00 so I only owe them $650.00 for nothing. Did I mention this company then cancelled my flights when I disputed the charge so I had to rebook all. Meaning they provided no service and got the money.

I understand that people outsource - it's a terrible decision, though, because it takes money out of the hands of your clientele and makes it so you cannot understand the customer service line at the fraud department. I received a fraud call from Chase, and I couldn't hear the Indian woman on the other end - her voice was unintelligible. All I could make out is that my transfer to my other bank account was denied because they "could not prove" that the other account belonged to me. They hire these people who cannot speak English and who have an attitude whilst they question you "for security purposes."

My wife and I applied for individual credit cards based on a promotional offer by Chase for Southwest Airlines. The offer included a companion pass and 30,000 miles on the condition each card had $4,000 or greater in purchases within 3 months of being approved. Both my wife and I have credit scores above 780 and were approved upon submitting our applications. Within the 3 month timeframe, we had met the $4000 minimum in purchases for each card (before 2 months passed). Ultimately neither myself or my wife were granted the promotion.
Reasonable thought would say it’s safe to assume the promotion would not be awarded to a cardholder until the conditions of the promotion were met, or the entire 3 months had lapsed. At least that’s what my wife and I had assumed. After not receiving any information on how to utilize the companion pass, my wife reached out and was told she would receive a letter in the mail. The letter she received stated she was denied. I then inquired for myself at the local branch. The branch manager assisted me and elevated the concern. Each step of the way I was given a new excuse or reasoning for the denial. First I was told I didn’t sign up for the right promotion, second I was told that specific promotion wasn’t being offered at that time, third I was told I only had 60 days from the date of my application to raise a complaint, finally, I was told I only had until the end of the promotional offer (13 days after signing up for the card) to raise the complaint.
First I provided them with a screenshot of the promotion I had taken when signing up. Second I provided public information being an cnbc article from online validating the promotion. Third, why or how could I raise concern about not be granted the promotion before meeting the condition of spending $4000, or until the 3-month timeframe passed. In the end, they acknowledge WE as the consumer are unvalued, disposable and powerless. I spoke with countless supervisors who “escalated” it from one department to another, both in person and over the phone. Chase banking and Credit Card services have my vote for least attractive company to engage in financial partnership with. If you choose to bank with Chase, I suggest cover your bases because they will burn you should an opportunity present itself.

After 30 minutes on the phone if information gathering we were placed on hold only to be told that we were rejected because our business was “Building & Remodeling!” No review of our excellent credit, no review of our revenue that’s grown $20,000 each of the 3 years in business, & no review of our basic request of needs to grow. Over the past several months, I have had several contacts with Chase regarding their mobile deposit policy. We moved to a city 2 1/2 years ago that had no Chase branch until just a couple of months ago - but have been a Chase customer for over 30 years. With the capability to deposit checks using the Chase app, this was not a problem for the first 2 years we lived here. In February, we were taking a 2 1/2 week cruise so I tried to make a deposit to be sure that we had enough funds to cover any contingencies while away. And Chase refused to accept the deposit saying that the amount exceeded my limit! Needless to say, I was quite upset and called their customer service to find out what was going on. I explained (and provided dates and amounts) that I had made many deposits over the past 2 years, the amount of which exceeded the limit that was suddenly imposed on my accounts.
No one could provide an explanation - one was "the system" sets the limit and no one can change it; another was the limit was based on how much I had deposited over the previous 30 days - I had made 3 deposits in the previous 30 days that exceeded the limit as well as being greater than the deposit I was making that day. Upon my return from the trip, I called again to try and get a better explanation of what had changed - and noted that there was no communication to me as to a change in policy or procedure to cause the problem. Again, no one could provide an explanation - they continue to stand on "the system sets the limit!" My frustration led me to write to Jamie Dimon - of course not expecting to hear from him but hopefully raising some eyebrows as to what was happening. I received a call from the Executive Office and quite frankly did not feel that my issue was given the proper attention.
Recently, there was an article in Fortune quoting Jamie Dimon saying that he (and by extension Chase) welcome customer complaints because if there is one unhappy customer, there are 10,000 or even 100,000 with a similar issue. I again wrote to the Executive Office and once again got a voicemail from the same person saying "we stand by our explanation" and we will do nothing further. No reason for the policy, no rationale for the policy, and no method of talking with someone in the right department who might be able to resolve my issue. If it were not so difficult to change banks, I would do so immediately. But I have opened an account at another bank and will probably leave Chase in due course.

Chase Bank is the worst brick and mortar bank that exists in America today. They roll out the proverbial red carpet when you first walk in through the branch doors to make your initial deposit, but when it comes time to protecting your assets from illicit online merchants based overseas, their support suddenly vanishes. Case in point I deposited a healthy sum of money with an online merchant called MyBookie using a Chase credit card but when I successfully grew my account and tried to request a withdrawal, I was denied and was told that I would need to risk the funds multiple additional times before being able to request access to it. I immediately contacted Chase to let them know about the situation. They initially reversed the charges before sneakily putting them back on my credit card statement by claiming that my dispute was denied due to the fact that the merchant in question was an online gambling operator.
At that point, I asked them why they were able to authorize the credit card charge in the first place given that they did not handle gaming related disputes and couldn’t get a satisfactory response. The truth of the matter is, Chase made money on the transaction. It wouldn’t shock me to find out that merchants that aren’t legally able to operate in the United States are giving kickbacks to Chase Bank to participate in the elaborate scheme to extort US consumers on the internet. Ultimately, this was an eye-opening experience that taught me you can’t trust Chase Bank to have your back when it comes to disputing overseas charges involving rogue merchants. I see why the reviews are so bad. I just opened accounts online Sunday. Today is Tuesday and I'm going in the bank tomorrow to close them. My other bank has not caused me this much trouble in the 15 years I've banked with them as Chase has in just 2 days. They have restricted the new accounts over 5 times now. I'm over it. I understand trying to be vigilant about fraud. But, this is excessive when some just opened the account and has had a proven to have a prior account with them. This is just ridiculous. I am not going to risk not having access to my account or money anytime they deem it necessary which it wasn't and hasn't been in just 2 days.

I went to Chase Bank at Western and Ganvile to deposit cash. I am a top employee always deposit cash for the last 20 years. I count my money before I go but never tell the banker how much I have before she or he run it through the counting machine. My number and the counting machine always match. But one of this day probably a weeks ago the lady refuse to count it in the machine, she want me to tell her how much I brought. I said, "Please count it before I tell you." She said no with bad attitude rushing me to get my Id and Chase card and ask me again how much I deposit then I told her my number.
She run it through the machine only one time and told me $100 short, did not noticed at the moment. At night I saw the receipt it was short next day. I went back to talk to the manager. I saw him talking phone meeting, the receptionist told me to wait. After 20 minutes the manager text or call, he does not want to talk to nobody after his phone meeting. She came to me and said, "I can help you with any thing because he can not talk to you today, come back after you make appointment." Back and forth again. I told her what happened, she said she will check if there is over$. Next day manager call me and no over$ found. I believe the money could be over and or short when we made a mistake and easy to find the money not when we short it intentionally.
When customer bring money like 4 or 5 thousand dollar cash and take it out from the bag to handle it to the cashier please do not refuse to take it as fast as you can, do not argue to count in the machine. Don't also let customer count that much money on the public. Manager should talk to customer who showed up on the branch first not those who call from home. Customer should make sure count the money you are depositing and write it on your notebook.

In a troubling turn of events, my husband Vahe ** has fallen victim to a sophisticated check fraud scheme, raising serious concerns about Chase Bank's security protocols and their responsibility in safeguarding customer assets. The incident began when an insurance company (State Farm) issued a $50,000 check to the lawyer (Anand **) on behalf of my husband. The lawyer, acting in good faith, mailed the check to us. However, before the check could reach us (intended recipient), it was intercepted by an unknown party. The thief then altered the check and managed to cash it under his/her own name at a Chase Bank branch without any apparent verification of the identity of the individual cashing the check.
Despite standard banking procedures that require thorough verification of the payee's identity, the fraudulent check was processed, and the funds were handed over to the criminal. This breach highlights a significant lapse in Chase Bank's security measures and poses a serious question about their commitment to protecting their customers from fraud.
My husband & I are devastated by this experience. The check was intended to cover property damage, and now we are left without those funds due to the negligence of the bank. It is unacceptable that a reputable institution like Chase could allow such a blatant fraud to occur and not take responsibility and have us end up with this huge loss.
Adding to our distress, according to State Farm, Chase Bank has denied responsibility for the incident and closed the case, citing that the funds from the stolen & altered check are no longer available. This decision has left us without recourse, further exacerbating the financial and emotional toll of the fraud. Moreover, State Farm has refused to offer assistance, claiming that their responsibility ended once the check was received Anand **, the lawyer. This leaves us in a dire situation, with no party willing to address or resolve the matter.
We have done everything within our means and taken immediate action by notifying the insurance company, filing a police report, calling the FBI, contacting Chase Bank at the Operating Loss Prevention Department to report the incident, however, the resolution process has been slow and frustrating, adding further stress to an already difficult situation; the insurance company is not bearing responsibility, the police have been unable to assist and even more frustrating is that the victim no matter how hard we tried we were unable to open a claim with Chase Bank: Chase repeatedly stated that "only the issuer of the check (State Farm) can open a claim" leaving us in limbo. We are at a total loss here yet unable to open a claim and find a resolution. How are we going to recover a loss when neither the insurance company nor the bank are willing to review this fraudulent case?
How is it fair that we, the most innocent party in this situation, are left to suffer the consequences of the bank's careless actions and mistakes? Is this how banks security system works - they allow a thief to cash a $50,000 fraudulent check and get away with it as long as it is "US" who are out of the $50,000 and the bank does not even make an effort to find out who cashed the check? How this crime occurred? It seems like as long as it is "US - the only victim in this case" who are suffering with the loss of $50,000 the banks don't care?
This incident underscores the urgent need for banks to strengthen their fraud detection and prevention measures. Customers rely on banks to safeguard their assets and ensure that proper verification processes are in place to prevent unauthorized transactions. The failure to do so not only results in financial loss but also erodes trust in the banking system.
We urged Chase Bank to take full responsibility for this lapse and to take swift action to prevent such incidents in the future but it seems like our calls fell on deaf ears. We want to take this case public, so the public is aware and understands how Chase bank handles their own mistake and lets criminals go without recourse and investigation as long as it is NOT the bank losing the money. "Banks must prioritize the security of their customers' funds and implement more robust measures to verify the identity of individuals cashing checks," "It is their duty to protect us from fraud and to ensure that such breaches do not happen again. Banks MUST protect the victims and NOT the criminals.
Our hope in taking this incident to the public is maybe Chase Bank will acknowledge their responsibility and provide a prompt resolution. This incident serves as a stark reminder to all financial institutions of the critical importance of stringent security protocols and the need to uphold their commitment to protecting their customers.

Fact: my wife and I are in our mid 70's. We decided to open a new account with Chase bank. We were offered, by Chase Bank all services required by us prior to transferring retirement funds from B of A to Chase Bank. And then the misery began. Not one of the services offered by Chase Bank were available once the monies were deposited. Chase Bank numerous times has provided false information either in person face to face with the branch personnel, manager included, or over the phone with customer service. These deceptions by Chase began when the Bank for no valid reason Froze and Blocked access to our funds. This ultimately led to my wife and I requesting that the account be closed, and funds wired to our B of A account located in the same, city. The funds still are not transferred to B of A as of typing this review.
We now realize that we should have done our homework more diligently regarding Chase Bank (having now read the many negative reviews reflecting similar issues). Chase Bank, in our opinion is not a good fit for retired persons. We will be contacting the various Federal and State Banking Agencies and filing complaints. Chase maintains that our accounts that were frozen, remained frozen for our own protection.

Because this was done without our knowledge. Checks and credit payments previously made had been denied. We have had to remake payments through other bank funds to maintain our credit and good will associated with these transactions. Days have been spent in attempt to obtain an explanation from Chase Bank as to why we are not granted access to our accounts. Their repetitive incredible reply is that freezing our accounts for our protection: that is their explanation as to why they have frozen our accounts.
Chase acknowledges that the funds are legitimately ours, however we are not to have access to them that we may be protected. This repetitive reply is incredible. My wife and I are in our 70s, we believe that Chase is committing Financial Elder Abuse. That we will suffer a stroke or heart failure from the stress. Tomorrow we will be contacting an Elder Abuse Law Firm and bring lawsuit against Chase Bank to recover our money and hopefully have the personal at Chase participating in this abuse brought to court. As it stands at this moment Chase has denied my wife and I access to monies in excess of $400,000.00 USD. We consider the money stolen from us, that Chase Bank takes advantage of the elderly and robs the elderly.

In short, Chase provided inconsistent information to us and their representatives, we were placed on hold several times, transferred several times, and even transferred to a Spanish speaking agent when our preferred language is English. In the meantime, our funds are inaccessible, and we were told to wait 10 to 14 business days for an automated letter from Chase; that the letter would not disclose the reason for the closed account; and that they would send us a check for our remaining balance. If you have a simple question you’re out of luck. I would have to drive over there just to ask a question. Terrible customer service.

You can put your money in a cd or money market with many other banks and get a guaranteed 5-5.25% return. Chase is not a place to invest your money! Be advised that you will not even cover the rate of inflation investing with chase financial advisors. I used other banks before and never ran in to these issues. My last call I had to listen to a loud hold music for an hour waiting for someone to take my call. This review is based on my experience with the Chase branch in Fairfield, CT at 2272 Black Rock Turnpike. This branch is so inept, disorganized, and careless that I suggest that---if you must use Chase for your banking---you avoid it and use another branch. Based on my experience, which is limited to opening an Estate checking account for about a month, I don't know how they expect to win over clients to peddle investment advice.
In short summary: I opened a checking account for the estate of my deceased mother after years of having multiple accounts at Bank of America. (This was to help make a clear separation of estate funds and personal funds.) BOA has always been an exceptionally good bank to deal with: very professional, careful, and accommodating. (I will now close my Chase account and transfer it to BOA.)
My chief complaints are these: Chase held all of my deposits for eight business days, even after promising to make them available in three. This created enormous difficulties for managing my mother's estate and dealing with her debtors. If you can't rely on a bank's stated guarantees, what good is it? I think that the blame likely rests with the branch manager, Geoff Permison VP. (When I had trouble clearing a deposit which was guaranteed the day before, he told me that his VP title is "meaningless at Chase" and that he had little authority to do much of anything.) Overall, my experience with Chase over the years was good. I don't know if this incompetence is now endemic to Chase overall, or if it's limited to this branch. I suspect that it's the latter. Caveat emptor.

I have been a Chase customer for a dozen years. Years ago they took care of problems. They closed my checking account without telling me and without telling me why. I called them daily for three weeks and every time I called I got a run around. I called Social Security to change the bank to which they sent my check and even though my account was closed it accidentally got sent to Chase who kept the money. They did not return it to Social Security. This is fraud.
When I called them and asked for my money since my account was closed by them they told me, "Oh you’ll get your money back in seven days." That was a lie. I called back and asked about where the money was. I was sent to a different section. Told it would be a couple days. That was a lie. They have lied many times and still not sent my money to from my closed account. I transferred a couple dollars from savings to my account or checking account and they accepted that even though the account was closed. They have committed fraud. They have lied to me every time I’ve called. If you’re looking for a good bank stay away from Chase.

Went from Great Customer for almost 10 years to NOTHING!! Ten years ago I should have read TrustPilot reviews of Chase Bank. When their rating is a 1 you don’t want to trust them!! However in the 10 years I have had a Chase Sapphire card, Chase Freedom Unlimited, Chase Slate, and a Chase Freedom cards. I paid off two of the cards last year and closed them. I have kept the Sapphire and Freedom Unlimited open. I have been doing business with Chase 10 years now and I want to state that up until today I have NEVER: been late, over my credit line (or even close), asked for a cash advance, or done even a balance transfer!! I pay my bills on time!
I had major surgery on my spine/neck in November and was off work for almost 3 months. Between my loss of income after 1 month, large medical bills, and my wife having to care for me, we had financial difficulties. We ended up having to use some of our credit cards just to get by. NOT ONCE did we fail to pay our payments to EVERYONE, but our balances did go up. We went from 21% debt ratio to almost 30%. When Chase saw that, and my score declining, they reacted by dropping my credit line down to within a few hundred dollars of my balances. Within 2 weeks 2 of the bureaus dropped our score even further, showing we were using 90% of our credit lines instead 20% - DUE TO THEIR ACTIONS! It’s good to know that you can have a stellar record of payment for years and they don’t care.
I have proof of the thousands of $$$’s of doctor bills we incurred, and my credit report proves we never missed a single payment to Chase Bank or anyone else during the last 6 months, or for the last 10 years!!! However, Chase could care less! They took action that made our situation even worse and they know it. I tried talking to the people at the Bank but it was useless. Their only reply “we will review your accounts in 6 to 12 months to see if your situation improves."
In talking with a Credit Attorney he told us it could take up to TWO YEARS to get all of this corrected, not just a few months. He was surprised that we had the payment record we have across ALL our creditors, and Chase ignored our records. Never trust a Bank - especially Chase!! Date of experience: May 17, 2024. G. **

I am writing to inquire about the status of my mortgage assumption. I first submitted documents to Chase on 10/6/23. I was told at the time that this process typically takes 3 months to complete. It is now 7 months later and I don’t feel that I’m any closer to completing this process than when I first started. I have complied with every request for additional documentation. I have been paying my mortgage on time for 20 years (including the two instances where I refinanced the loan). I have an 800+ credit score. I have enough liquid assets to pay the loan in full 3 times over, not to mention a significant level of assets in brokerage accounts.
I am now being asked to provide copies of blank pages that are included in my personal checking and savings account bank statements from another bank. Since I don't get paper copies of my statements, I have to make a request and pay for these statements to meet this ridiculous demand. My primary interests in getting this assumption completed is to clean-up my finances after divorce, and remove my ex-husband, who has never made a payment on this mortgage in its history.
I have been assured by representatives in the assumption department that this lengthy process/delay has nothing to do with Chase’s desire for me to refinance at a higher interest rate, as opposed to assuming this loan at its current rate. Coming from a banking background, I understand that a bank would much rather have a high interest rate loan on their books as opposed to a low rate loan. Given all the reasons above, I now believe that I’m being discriminated against simply because I’m a single female, in a one income-household. I very much hope this is not the case, but I’m not seeing much to make me believe otherwise.

This doesn’t just happen with personal checks, I mean my weekly paychecks that I have been receiving for months from a big company. I have deposited loads of these checks and Chase puts a 12 day hold on them each and every time. Sometimes I can get my funds released a few days earlier by calling and talking to customer service but it is a real hassle to go through that every time my boss pays me. Not only that but it makes me feel unappreciated as a long time customer to the point where I am considering closing my account and taking my business elsewhere.
In this day and age it is unfathomable that it would take so long to clear a business check from a major banking institution. Every time I deposit my paycheck with Chase instead of going to a check cashing place, I end up regretting it. The customer service has very noticeably gone downhill over the years. I used to have nothing but pleasant interactions with Chase customer service reps but over the past year or two it's become a crapshoot; half of the time they are great and the other half….not so much. Chase does not care about cardholders anymore! Chase did not investigate the following and allowed the scammer to keep the money: I attempted to utilize my account for a transaction involving hotel booking accommodations. However, despite my efforts, I encountered significant difficulties in completing this transaction and ultimately did not receive the intended service.
The transaction in question pertains to a booking through Prestigia.com for hotel room reservation. It is important to note that my initial intention was to use the Kayak website for booking. However, during the process, I was somehow redirected to Prestigia.com without my explicit consent. I never received a booking number or any form of confirmation from Prestigia.com, not even a spam email. Upon contacting the designated hotel directly, I was informed that there was no record of any reservation under my name, nor had any payment been received.
In an attempt to resolve this issue, I contacted Prestigia.com many times to seek clarification and assistance. Regrettably, my attempts to communicate with them have been met with silence, as I have not received any response or acknowledgment of my inquiries. Given the lack of communication and the failure to provide the promised service, I was left with no choice but to dispute this transaction. Despite recognizing that small enterprises constitute a significant segment of their clientele, these institutions seem to disregard the specific needs of these businesses. The pervasive issues surrounding policy enforcement, deposit holds, and other bureaucratic measures appear designed to prioritize institutional interests over client satisfaction. AVOID USING CHASE BUSINESS CHECKING OR THEIR QUICK ACCEPT FEATURE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE A NEW BUSINESS! As a retail banking customer with Chase for several years, I was initially satisfied with their service. When I decided to start my own business, I naturally considered them for a business checking account, especially after learning about their Quick Accept credit card payment feature for business customers, which seemed like a seamless way to run my business. However, my experience did not match their promises, particularly as a new business.
After securing my first client for my company, Drains 365 Inc., and receiving an upfront deposit via check, I completed the job and processed the majority of the bill through Chase's Quick Accept feature using my customer's credit card. Despite this, neither the check nor the credit card payment cleared promptly. Upon investigating further, I discovered that the check wouldn't be available until May 7th, despite it being April 30th at the time. Additionally, the Quick Accept feature, which advertised same-day availability for credit card payments, failed to deliver.
When my wife contacted Chase for assistance, they cleared the check for her but informed us that because it was our first time accepting a credit card, the payment might take a few days. However, another week passed, and we still hadn't received the credit card payment. Upon reaching out again, we were shocked to learn that Chase had deactivated our credit card processing feature and were holding our $1,116.75 payment for 128 days, citing the potential for chargebacks. The idea of waiting 128 days for a payment, especially for a first-time credit card transaction, seemed unjustifiable and unfair.
Now, I find myself in the arduous appeals process, navigating through hoop after hoop. The fact that Chase placed a hold on the check further solidifies my belief that they are not supportive of small businesses. This experience has left me deeply dissatisfied, as I've encountered problems with both a check and a credit card payment deposited into my account.

Chase Bank has caused me so much emotional stress in these last few weeks. We all know that our money is are way of survival. This still isn't resolved as of yet and they won't tell me why. I am a good citizen. I don't even have a criminal record... because banks can close your account if you have a criminal record so if you all don't know this already then you just learned it right now.
There's no reason for Chase to cause harm to me by suddenly closing my account and wrongfully keeping my money. I am just letting everybody know to wake up because you could be in the same position that I am in right now. People get your money out and go somewhere else, if this can happen to me it can happen to you...Because we all need to trust our bank 100 percent and then when your bank Suddenly betrays you... I have disputed 1,300$ of fraud charges from another country for a year now and they have closed the dispute 5 times with no resolution and cannot provide reason, they just reopen it every time I follow up. Every time there is fraud from traveling they close and send me a new card (my other cc is able to resolve without doing this each time), then I tell them I will be leaving town and they will leave me overseas without a card. They say they will leave the old card unlocked (they don’t) and the new card never makes it to me. Still waiting on the card they were suppose to send last year.
Also, they tell me if I close the card, I can’t use my reward points after closing: I have been waiting until they’re used up to close. I earned the rewards points. I should not have to keep the card open to use them. I have never been so displeased with financial services. Oh and now they just added $10 fees for interest to my card that has been paid off for two months… good thing I checked it randomly. I really hate them.

After multiple phone calls, a Chase representative finally told me they would use the recorded conversation where I was told to coach their team members but there was nothing they could do to recover my funds. I called Chase again, they told me I would have to go onto the UPS website and enter in my apartment number because they did not receive it from Chase and they could not deliver without the apartment number.
Chase send statements to my apartment every month so they definitely have my apartment number. I then had to spend 30 minutes on the phone with UPS customer service and they told me I could call Chase back and have them intercept the package or I could go pick up the card in person 30 minutes from where I live. I called Chase one last time and spoke to a supervisor and expressed my frustration with this process. The only thing he offered was to update the address and make sure I receive the card.... I decided to pick up the card myself. I'm not trusting Chase with another delivery. I understand security, but this far exceeds anything that actually secures the account. After working through very frustrating language barriers & verification, I was finally told chase doesn't have the capability to actually allow external transfers even though both the app & website have the option and allows you to add external accounts, verify, & set up transfers. I was told I had to use another bank to set up the transfers..SO THEN WHAT IS THE POINT OF OPENING CHASE ACCOUNTS??
Never again will I do business with Chase. I had inquired about a mortgage but they kissed that opportunity goodbye. My experience with Chase has been horrible in every respect. The bottom line is this: it is easy to deposit money. It is hard to get it out. The worst part of the situation is that when an issue arises, the customer can NEVER speak to a person who is actually involved in making policy. For example, I presented a notarized copy of a power-of-attorney-for-property document to Chase. The document was created by the State of Illinois. The local Chase bank had to send it to an office for approval. An issue came up with someone in the approval chain. However, there was no way for me to have a discussion with this individual. The local branch said that even they could not contact that person or office directly.
After the POA was resubmitted and approved, another related issue came up, and I was again confronted with the same ridiculous situation. The next issue was linking a Chase account to an account at another bank for ease of money transfer in and out. Setting up the link was easy. Almost immediately, the online view of my Chase bank account showed the linkage. It even showed how much money I had in the external account! I had no idea that Chase would be able to grab this personal information.
But even with that set up, the linkage was not complete—which is to say that I could not transfer funds. There was an additional hoop through which I had to jump. I received a secure message in the Chase account telling me to, "sign in to chase.com. Click "See/edit external accounts" and follow the instructions to verify your access to the external account."
In fact, there was no link named "See/edit external accounts". I called customer service for the sole purpose of finding where to locate this link. Instead of answering this simple question about the Chase website, the rep put me through additional hoops of personal identification. At the end, I stumbled on the question of what year in the 1980s an educational loan was paid off! I am sure that no such question is actually attached to the Chase account. Who remembers a date from over 40 years ago?
With the help of a local rep at a Chase branch, I was walked through an alternative method of verifying the external account using the mobile app on my phone. The procedure had nothing to do with the instructions received from Chase in its secure message. Sending a complaint to Chase is also a problem. Chase seems to offer a path of communication at this URL: https://www.chase.com/digital/resources/complaints-feedback. However, when you follow the instructions, you are led to a place where you can send messages on a limited number of topics, none of which are appropriate to an actual complaint. The history above includes about 60% of the frustrations that I have had with Chase. My next item of business is to move funds to another bank and close the Chase account. It will be interesting to see how difficult it is to cut loose from Chase.

Beware of Chase check fraud claims and positive pay. I have been a customer of Chase for both personal and business banking for approximately 15 years, ever since they acquired WAMU. Throughout this time, I have never encountered any issues with fraud claims. However, a recent incident involving a stolen and modified business check disappointed me with Chase's Positive Pay system. I had a business check stolen out of the mail, modified, and cashed against my business account for $25,000. Despite using Chase Positive Pay for more than 5 years, without issue. When the total on the check did not match what was entered in Positive pay by only a few cents it was blocked from being cashed. This time the system failed to detect the fraudulent activity. This check was to a vendor I’ve done business with for over 25 years and never had any issues. They notified me of outstanding invoices from about two months prior.
I checked my account, and it showed the check had cleared. I thought to myself no issues, it was just an accounting error. However, I was notified by my vendor that the check was never received. At that point I opened the check image and noticed the payee’s name and address had been altered, the check image was clear and a couple of things stood out immediately. The check itself was a completely different stock than any of the 300+ checks I’ve used. The Payee name was changed to an individual different than the Payee name that I entered in Positive pay prior to mailing check. To top it all off, the check was clearly marked ‘VOID’ across it, a security feature built into the checks specifically to avoid this type of issue.
I was relieved and thought this wasn’t going to be a hassle, I use Positive Pay for this exact reason. I felt Chase would make good on their fraud guarantee. I reported the fraud immediately. This was approximately 70 days after the check was cashed. Chase Positive pay is advertised to prevent this type of fraud. Chase knew before clearing the check what the check number, amount, and Payee name on the check were supposed to be, yet they still allowed the check to clear. Chase’s answer is “you are outside the 60-day-claim window”. I went through the entire process via the 800 number as well as two different local branches and got the same answer. “Sorry, it has been over 60 days, there is nothing we can do to help you”.
This is my story as a long-time former customer and small business owner. My advice to all would be to be very careful of Chase’s claims for fraud protection. I used their Positive Pay security, and not only did it not stop the fraud, but they refused to stand behind it. I recommend you know what is covered, and make sure to read the fine print.
An unhappy and former Chase customer…

Since I didn't need the money right away, I let him proceed. After a couple of minutes, I was given a piece of paper, and the teller told me, "This is your receipt." He never mentioned a fee. In about 10 days, I received a letter from Chase customer service that said, "You may be charged processing fees." I called, and was told possible fees are charged by the Canadian bank. On 3/5, I received the money with a deduction of $62. Chase refused to waive the fee. I checked with Bank of America, and they don't charge anything even with a $10,000 check from a non-US bank. I had a very unpleasant experience with Chase.
Original review: I deposited a check from a Canadian bank into my checking account in Chase bank on February 5, 2024. Today is February 25 but I still don't have my money, and I found a letter from the Managing Director of Chase Customer Service in my mail box. In the letter, it says, "You can expect the funds in your account in 4 to 6 weeks, and you may be charged processing fees, even if the item is not paid." The teller never told me about the potential processing fee. Otherwise, I would have gone to another bank. The check is from my brother-in-law, and I know the fund is in the Canadian bank.

Chase is the worst credit card company I’ve ever used in 30 years of my experience. The customer service is the worst. I would rate American Express nine. I would give a rating of Chase to -9. They are the worst. You cannot get anybody on the phone for customer service.

Updated on 05/07/2024: UPDATE PER MY LAST REVIEW OF CHASE, SEE PROFILE FOR FURTHER DETAILS: After further pushing with the Executive Office- where I dealt with Sam who was an unbelievably rude and unprofessional individual, including reporting them to agencies for how poorly this was handled, and supplying video evidence of the events as they unfolded, they retaliated by closing my accounts and saying that being a victim of these crimes apparently meant I was "not properly protecting my card." Unbelievable victim blaming. Disgusting company. Absolutely do not do business with these people.
Original Review: I was the victim of crimes while working overseas these past several months that had my cards stolen and rung up at large values. The bank did no due diligence after I reported these situations - jerking me around for months only to then rebill every charge without any notification or phone call for additional information. When I called, their security team informed me that no notes of the circumstances of what happened to me were ever inputted, despite the hours I spent on the phone explaining what happened in great detail. I was told phone call attempts were made, but upon checking the phone history of both lines not a single one was in fact made at any time.
I had then placed them under re-review with proper notation and letters submitted, of which I was told a timetable of about three days I would receive a call. It has been a month of back and forth, horrific phone tag and frankly incredibly rude customer service. Never given proper information, constantly lied to, and consistently silenced on the circumstances I experienced. This bank is complicit in the crimes that were committed against me, and has brought great stress in my hard road to moving on from those traumas. They ignore every detail of my attempts to go to police on these matters, and never follow up with any details.
As of now I am, over a month since the re-review and 3 months since the first filing, STILL waiting on a proper response. Mind you, this incident even has been resolved with two of the Chase credit cards, with the same merchants and everything, but absolute crickets for the one with the major bulk of the damage done. Everytime I’ve pointed out that the smaller situations were resolved, even sending THEIR OWN documentation showing this, I am completely ignored and dismissed. This nightmare has gone on so long now and has had damage to my mental health to a great extreme. Chase has a terrible reputation for customer service being abhorrently poor, but had unethical to that list. No one should ever do business with this bank under any circumstance.

On 1/3/24, I was contacted via text from a purported representative of Chase Bank which appeared to be consistent with a legitimate text message I received a week before to confirm whether a transaction was legitimate. The representative ended up being a fraudulent scammer who had already hacked my Chase account for 10 smaller amounts and ended up conducting a fraudulent wire transfer in the amount of $8,200 to an account purportedly with Navy Federal Credit Union. Upon detecting fraudulent activity, I immediately contacted Chase to advise them and they said they would attempt to stop the transaction. They were ultimately unable to do so for some odd reason, didn’t accept any additional information proving I didn’t authorize any of these fraudulent transactions, and have repeatedly denied both in person and telephonic requests to properly reimburse our bank account.
As a result of this horrendous occurrence and decision by Chase to not reimburse our account and refusal to reconsider additional facts they did not possess, I now have to borrow funds to pay my mortgage and related expenses. Unfortunately, we were victimized by fraud previously with respect to a PNC bank account and PNC immediate recognized it as fraudulent activity for which we weren’t responsible and immediately reimbursed our account for the funds that were stolen. I’ve exhausted all in person and telephonic attempts to have Chase reimburse our account for the funds that were stolen due to the hacking of our account and subsequent misrepresentation as a legitimate Chase bank representative.
Chase keeps insisting that I somehow authorized the wire transfer WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY WRONG as the reason you will not reimburse our account. I have tried everything to reverse this decision to no avail and don’t know where else to turn for help with this devastating situation. Please help correct this error. Thank you in advance for your assistance and correcting this error in decision making and properly reimburse our account for the $8,200 fraudulent transaction. I’ve NEVER experienced such horrible treatment and a bank that fails to reimburse a customer for clearly fraudulent charges that were absolutely NOT AUTHORIZED.

Trying to manage an erroneous charge, I was shuffled back and forth between disputes and fraud for several hours and finally told I could only send my dispute in through the postal mail and could not submit it online. A company saved my credit card number for 5 months and charged me 5 times the amount of the service provided. I can't reach them because they went out of business. I have tried multiple ways. The dispute team told me they will let the charge stand because I did not save a receipt for the service (that I had purchased 5 months previous). The supervisor told me, "I have saved every receipt for everything I've ever bought. We can't help you if you are not a responsible consumer." And then he hung up on me. I would love if someone at Chase would help me sort this out, but they do not seem interested in helping.

Chase Bank is a fraud in and of itself. They use "suspicious activity" to freeze and keep your money yet can't relay what is suspicious. I deposited my daughter's check, mind you I have the California probate durable power of attorney for my daughter, and Chase froze the account AFTER cashing and receiving the funds. They not only here the check but ALL the funds in the account. They have since closed the account and now 3 months later still will not release my funds.
Every interaction with them I've been given a different reason or excuse. Filed complaints with CFPA and OCC and they responded with a template response which closed out the complaints but didn't resolve the problem. So, how is it they can legally steal your money under their "suspicious activity" claim but cannot prove any suspicious activity? How is it they can keep your money after closing your account when they are not owed anything? How can they cash a check they feel is suspicious but not release the funds?
After reading reviews I see it is a common practice of theirs! They certainly don't care what problems it causes to steal your money from you and yet there is no recourse from being victimized by Chase? The checks they stole are from my tribe, we are enrolled members of a federally recognized tribe, I certainly feel like they have discriminated against me due to my race and economic standing. Isn't that a violation of my civil rights? Yet I cannot do anything about it because no one can sue Chase Bank due to some protection they have? So they have the power to not only discriminate and violate your civil rights but to steal from you and fraudulently keep your money?! Wow!! Be warned, you may be their next victim especially if you are a minority or low income!

First I've been a Chase customer since 1998 when I opened my account. For many many years everything was great. All of a sudden I kept getting charged for a monthly service fee but when I opened my account there was no service fee if I used my debit card five times or more within the month. So Chase took it upon themselves to change my checking account status and charge me every month because I didn't have $1,500 in the account at all times. They wouldn't wave the fee. They wouldn't work with me as a customer for 20 plus years so I closed my account. I now do banking with Capital One and I have no problems, and no service fees...
Also I was depositing money into Chase's ATM and the ATM shut down. There's no proof how can I prove what I put into the ATM. So unfortunately after investigating they told me there's no extra money in the ATM machine. Which is incorrect. I believe someone didn't do their job didn't want to be bothered or pocketed whatever was left over and just said no, the arm was even. Which it was not because I counted my money after the ATM shut down and I had reached out to chase again and they wouldn't accommodate me at all again.
So I lost about $150 because Chase's ATM machine shut down in the middle of a transaction. Never again will I deposit money in an ATM and never again will I use Chase Bank. I can't wait to pay off my chase credit cards and be done. Shame on you Chase for not doing what you can to keep loyal customers. Especially for customers over 20 years. SHAME ON YOU CHASE

I was charged 9 insufficient fund fees through my account at Chase Bank in the last week due to Zelle going down. When I contact chase they said they could only reimburse me for 3 of them even though I couldn't receive my money due to zelle which is a service they provide on the Chase Bank app. This is sad cause I've been with the Bank for 15 years and never complained about an insufficient fee charge. When I was in the wrong I just took it on the chin but as hard as times are it's sad that chase bank could not see the problem that occurred on their part. This cost me 204 dollars that I did not have to part with and all they could say is I'm sorry. Come on now. Are they really or is that just what they say every time they do this. I mean seriously how can you say sorry after stealing from someone who's already broke. Shame on you JP Morgan Chase Bank.

It's a joke a bank like this even existed. I opened a checking and savings account to take advantage of the cash bonus. They asked me to make a large deposit to qualify for the bonus. So I did. I deposited a check written by me from my BOA account at a Chase atm. WOW how my life was turned upside down ever since. They flagged my account and told me that they'd close my accounts due to unusual activity (i.e., doing exactly what they told me to do). They didn't give me any heads up except for sending a letter.
By the time I received the letter, they were about to close my account due to my "lack of action" (my apologies for not being God and seeing a letter coming my way out of the blue). Then everything went straight to hell. I made numerous calls and visits to branches, canceled my business trip and basically my life to focus on resolving this issue. Every time I contacted them, the person I talked to would tell me a completely different story and update.
Two representatives from their fraud prevention department told me word by word that "we don't know when the account will be closed. Could be today, could be tomorrow, could be any day we don't know." I asked that how I was supposed to get my fund back if they close the accounts, they told me "We won't be able to release the fund. You won't get it back after we close the accounts" (Again, I have the recordings). Wow!!!
After days of calling eventually they said the check was verified after we had a three way call with BOA and them. Then they submitted a request to lift the restriction on my account. The person I talked to told yet another bold face lie saying it will be lifted in 30 mins. I called yet gain after hours and got transferred yet again to a million people. Eventually I was told that request has been denied!!! Way to go Chase! I've never seen anyone more fraudulent than your Fraud Protection Department and your whole team! Why don't you just take my money altogether huh? It got to the point where I was thinking of going to court. Here's a Google response I got: "You're not allowed to bring a claim against Chase in most courts; it's there in the fine print of your contract with the company." Now it all makes sense!! That's how they make money! What a shame! One of the biggest banks in the United States legally commits fraud. I'm speechless

I am a long time account holder with Chase Bank and I live in the USA yet when I call my bank about questions concerning my account my phone calls are answered outside of the United States. When requesting a US based operator the calls have been transferred to non-English speaking call centers. (I have a recording.) Is there a valid reason for having Americans speak only to people in India, Philippines, Mexico, Columbia, and where ever else Chase has customer service representatives except in the United States. On two occasions calls were transferred to non-English speaking call centers (again I have a recording).
When did Chase Bank decide that Americans should have their most valuable information given out to the World? Does it make sense to put American Financial Information in the hands of foreign nations without written consent or knowledge in advance. Does it matter that Chase Bank is paying considerably less money to these call center representatives overseas?
Not one person I spoke with is required by their financial institutions to conduct business through a US based operator, matter fact they do not speak with anyone outside of their home country. Now for the obvious question: Can anyone understand why Americans are the subject of Identity Theft at a Higher Rate than any other nation? The US Laws Stop where the Sand Meets The Water. Thank You Chase Bank for Putting the Customers At Risk for Identity Theft.

I reported it and they denied my claim - said it wasn't a legitimate claim! They are RATCHET!!
Customer service agents were rude and could barely speak English - they would never let me speak to their supervisor and they argued with me about everything! My account had 2 fraudulent transactions posted, I called Chase to get those resolved and credited. They apparently did not notice the website had digital wallet token and sent replacement debit card. The new card also got hacked within minutes of being created and while in transit to me. I called Chase again and they realized the transactions were again fraudulent and mailed new debit card. Now my account has 4 fraudulent transactions and my account is overdrawn, they keep promising a credit and investigation but I am without any money. I can’t believe how bad this bank is, I’ve had this account for years and this kind of service is unacceptable. It’s so easy to resolve these claims if I could go in person but you have to call their 1800 numbers and wait days for any update. Will be closing account when they resolve this issue.

They have no remorse to the financial repercussions.. They did the same with me after being a loyal customer with no issues. No warning or reason was given or heads up to remedy whatever the issue was..While they claim they have a right to close without explanation, the ethics behind this is just horrible knowing the financial trouble they cause on others. So not far fetched thinking to believe I was lied to misled in march that the mailings would stop i.e 10 months later I get another marketing mailing.
I do not think I or anyone else should be lied to or misled (claimed the mailings would stop last march and now told they weren't) and I don't believe I shouldn't be treated in such a poor way and basically told, "Too bad. We don't care (my term )." Not a way a customer or a potential customer should be treated. I don't think i need to have these mailings after repeated attempts of asking that they stop, they shouldn't be forced on anyone.
