If I could give Chase negative stars, I would. I’ve banked with Chase for over 40 years, with multiple personal and business accounts, and what happened this week was beyond unacceptable. I opened a new business in August and opened a business checking account with Chase, just like I’ve done many times before. Two days ago, I received a random email saying my account was being closed — with zero explanation. I assumed it was a scam until I called the official 800 number. Unfortunately, it was real. Chase closed my account and refuses to tell me why, despite the account having thousands of dollars in it.

There are no legal issues, the company has a brand-new federal tax ID, it’s in good standing with the state, and the account was always positive. After getting nowhere with an offshore call center, I went to my local branch. Even the banker who opened the account couldn’t access any information. I emailed the branch manager, who never responded, and only took my call two days later — yet still didn’t answer my questions.

The complete lack of transparency is infuriating. After running millions of dollars through Chase over more than three decades, this is how they treat long-term customers. I look forward to the next time a Chase salesperson approaches me at a networking event. I’ll gladly share how Chase closes accounts without warning, offers no explanation, and shows absolutely no regard for customer loyalty.

Worst banking experience ever!!! Lack of communication. Closed my account 2 days before Thanksgiving for no reason after allowing me to deposit my check in the account. Never informed me that my account was under investigation and pending closure but still allowed me to deposit my check. Closed my account. Suddenly would not release any of my funds to me. Have to wait 3/4 weeks for them to send it in a check in the mail. Literally put me at an inconvenience especially during the holiday season. Customer service representatives don’t care, had one hang up on me. The Chase branch office in Conyers, Georgia was very incompetent and the branch manager was rude.

I had a rather disappointing experience with Chase Bank in Houston. Even though I paid my installments regularly and sometimes even earlier than the due date and even overpaid they still ended up charging me extra. They told me it was due to a system error. I spent about three or four months dealing with this issue, being passed from one employee to another and then to supervisors, none of whom could explain why this extra charge occurred. In the end, I gave up, and they said they would try to reduce it from my future payments. Overall, it was a really frustrating experience.

Chase is the worst at administering money to beneficiaries. I have been a trustee both before and after death of someone with an account at Chase. Fortunately we kept it a small account. Banks in general are terrible for a trustee to navigate but Chase is the worst. They never sent any reminders about updating beneficiary, so I did not know and the owner I am sure forgot all about it. Apparently a beneficiary was put on the account years ago before the will was written. They will not reveal the beneficiary, they will not make any effort to contact the beneficiary, they did not allow me to put the account into the trust even when she was still alive. They insist I go to a branch who will in turn communicate with their legal dept. I did that multiple times. I have not given up but it is very possible the money will never be dispersed, the bank will keep it.

It would have been fair for a financial institution like Chase Consumer Affairs to notify me in advance that my checking account was going to be closed, or at the very least to provide a transparent and clear explanation regarding their concerns. I am a civil engineer by profession, a college graduate, and someone who works daily to earn my income through legitimate and verifiable means. There is nothing in my financial behavior, transaction history, deposits, or transfers that should reasonably classify me as suspicious or high-risk. If my account activity had been properly reviewed, it would confirm there are no fraud cases, chargebacks, disputes, unauthorized access reports, or irregular deposits.

The distressing part was not account closure, but the complete lack of notice, communication, and transparency throughout the process. Front-line support channels such as Chase Customer Service also failed to provide basic clarity on why my account was flagged. Regardless of internal risk policies, customers deserve timely notice, transparent reasoning, and respectful treatment when their personal funds are involved. My money was earned through personal hard work, not suspicious activity, and I should not have to navigate uncertainty around my own funds without explanation. I am sharing this so others are aware of my experience and to encourage improved fairness, communication, and customer respect moving forward.

I have been a customer since 2023 and overall Chase bank is great when it comes to customer service. But twice already in 2 years I have been overdrawn on my account due to their negligence. I called chase on 11/29/25 and to make sure my account balance was up to date due to not wanting to become overdrawn and the person I spoke two reassured me that my account was up to date but then I checked account this morning and now I am overdrawn $25, yes I understand this is my account and I am responsible for it, but chase has me under the assumption that all my pending transactions have been cleared is not okay, this is how people become overdrawn, can you imagine for someone who like myself is on a fixed income and becomes overdrawn $50 how those surcharges could deplete their bank account, not happy with their services, if this ever happens again I will find another bank to bank with.

I did not receive any letters or emails stating that my account was closed. Then when I called them they tell me they will mail my money in ten days in a check. Right here at the first of the month bill time now I have to wait on my money and I will have late fees because of chase. I never heard of a bank that close out accounts for no reason at all. I've had Chase for 5 years and it's the worst bank I've ever had. I have had more than 12 fraudulent charges go through in the past 2 years, but Chase denies my charges that are actually me from a company that I bought for for 2 years straight every month. A fraudulent charge from Hong Kong went through on my account for $102.98. Somehow Chase let that go through. Again, Hong Kong. So I call and Chase reverses the charge and a month later recharges me that amount. Chase says that the company gave evidence that I'm the one that made the purchase. I have a police report from my purse being stolen with my phone in it. The purchase was made 1 day after the theft but instead of Chase contacting me and saying, well the merchant is giving this evidence saying it was you, which is absolutely impossible how can they prove it was me, and then allow me to give them the police report showing the facts of my belongings, they didn't.

They just reverse the charge again and charged me $102.98 for an item that was bought fraudulently from Hong kong, a sex toy store. I am disgusted with Chase. With the amount of money that I have in that account at all times, I refuse to stay with them. I will be withdrawing all of my money except for $10. Once my last direct deposit goes through, I'll completely close the account. This is disgusting. They never should have allowed a charge from Hong Kong to go through in the first place. But yet they continue to decline my charges that I'm actually making. Be very careful with chase people because they continue to allow fraudulent charges to go through and you may end up like me and have to pay for a fraudulent charge.

When you call customer service, the people that you get, can barely speak English, their accents are so heavy it's hard to understand them, and they don't know how to speak proper English so you don't know what they're saying. That's a problem. But then again Chase hires people outside the country so they can save money instead of bringing jobs to the United States. Another reason I'm leaving Chase. BE CAREFUL, CHASE ALLOWS FRAUDULENT CHARGES TO GO THROUGH ON YOUR ACCOUNT. I'VE HAD 12 IN 2 YEARS!!!

Called Chase Bank on October thirty first to discuss a report to the credit companies showing I was thirty plus days late. I explained I did not receive a bill by email. I get all my bills by email. They explained they sent it by mail and I resolved that problem. I asked if they would remove the thirty day late notice to the credit agencies because I did not know I even had a bill. My loan officer had told me when I was applying for a loan through the VA that the VA will not give me a loan if I had one late payment and I would have to wait another year and not miss a payment.

The customer service representative said yes we can remove the late payment and send you a letter to submit to your loan officer so you can get a VA loan and I would receive it in seven to ten days. I waited and did not receive it so I called back. The next customer service representative said it will take ten to fourteen days. I waited and did not receive it. I called back and explained everything all over again. I was redirected to another customer service representative who said no we cannot remove any late payments and that is your problem. She told me I will have to deal with the loss of my loan with the VA because they do not remove late payment notices to the credit agencies.

I asked why their customer service representatives told me they would remove it and now she was saying no. She stated they do not remove late payments period. She was very cold and did not care about how this affected me even though I made the payment that was due as soon as I found out it was late at the time I spoke to the first representative. Customer service should not tell a customer one thing then make them wait and not do what they said they would do. Chase is one of the worst banks I've done business with. I finally had enough and closed all my accounts with them. Their fees are ridiculous, they don't seem to know the meaning of customer service, and their policies are clearly designed to separate you from your money, and for all of this they don't make up for the terrible service and policies with better interest rates. I won't give the whole laundry list, but I will provide three examples of why Chase is a terrible bank to do business with:

    1) Chase still owes me about $100 that I'll never be able to collect from them. When I closed my business account, they had a balance owed me on the credit card. I said that was no problem, I would just keep the card active until I used the credit. Nope, they refused to apply that credit toward a future bill stating they had to write a check to me. OK, again, no problem -- until they wrote the check to the BUSINESS name of the account I had closed! A check Chase Bank refused to cash since I didn't have a business account anymore. Even though my business was a sole proprietorship, Chase refused (and refuses) to write the check to me, refuses to apply the owed funds toward a bill -- in short refuses to pay the owed money in any way that will enable me to actually get it.

    2) Recently I took a check I (unfortunately) accepted from a Chase account holder to a Chase bank. When I presented the check, Chase refused to cash it for full face value -- not because the account holder lacked the funds but because I was not a Chase customer! They don't care that the draft was written on Chase paper, nor do they care that they have the money the account holder wrote a legal draft tendering those funds to me. Nope, Chase doesn't care and wouldn't give me the money. I ended up taking the check to my bank instead. What does it matter? Well, if somehow the person who wrote the check did give me a bad check, I have to wait several days to find that out instead of knowing right away that the funds are actually good. This places me at risk.

    3) If you want to file a complaint, it is impossible to get through to anybody. Even the bank MANAGER was unable to provide me with a number to reach somebody. He didn't really believe me until I dialed the number in front of him. Then he tried several other numbers -- and was unable to reach anybody even with his special priority code! He then filed an electronic submission from his bank computer, and told me somebody would call me back. That was days ago...not holding my breath.

As a former small business owner, I truly HATE writing negative reviews, but... I contacted Certified Diesel to have them come out to do a diagnosis and repair on my generator. I was required to put a credit card on file in order to have them come out. At that point, I knew I would be charged $180/ hour plus travel time. The day of the service, I was called by the representative at the 0259 number that they had a technician in the area and he could drop by to see me thus saving me the travel charge. He arrived about 12:30pm and left about 2:00pm.

I was then sent the invoice and my card was automatically charged. But the Invoice did not detail the hours or time, only the work that was accomplished. I then followed up to text the 4508 number I had previously corresponded with about service. That person replied with more detail that I was charged for 2.5 hours and 2.5 hours of overtime and referred me to the 0259 number for further clarification. After several phone calls with that person, all he could say was his technician turned in 6 hours worth of time for my job. I have since asked for a more detailed invoice of hours with no response.

I tried to dispute the charge with my CC company based on the fact that I was not told I would have to pay for any overtime hours. I agree to pay the 2.5 hours at the original rate of $180/ hour plus 3% administrative fee. Though the technician was only there 1.5-1.75 hours. I have witnesses from 3 others on my dock that all talked to the technician as he was leaving. In a further attempt to prove the time he arrived and left, if necessary, our dock does have security cameras and I can request footage from the office, though this might be difficult, I am that convicted in my recollection of the day that I know the cameras would prove me right.

I am not denying I owe them for their services, but it is unfair to be expecting an hourly charge and receive an invoice that does not even reflect the hours served. The CC company denied my dispute because they said the CC authorization "allows them to charge me anything they want". This is not how I interpreted the CC authorization form at the time that we signed it, nor do I interpret it that way now.

The worst bank in the world! I made an electronic deposit and two days later my accounts were restricted and closed soon after. All due to the fact as I was told by Chase fraud dept that the issuing party (bank check was from) did not respond electronically within 24 hours when the verification process began. Since the issuing bank did not respond this automatically flagged my accounts as a big fraud threat. Well this check was issued by the IRS from the United States Treasury and may have been delayed because the government is shut down.

However, I took this check a few days later to a check cashing store and using the same system Chase uses it was verified in minutes. Chase, people are human and make mistakes. If a Chase employee mis entered info or something you should own it. There was nothing wrong with that check. I've been a long time customer and usually can find solution on my own. This time I reached out for assistance since my scheduled property tax payment for a precise day of payment was delayed hence a late fee penalty was assessed unto my account. My personal banker deferred me to customer service department, I supposed not wanting to deal with the issue. I didn't get far with the CS either basically telling me that it was my fault that I didn't specify the payment had to go out that particular day???

I've been banking with other institutions and have never encountered this issue. Instead, they would inform me that my account would be debited a day or two prior the due date, if needed in order not to miss it. There was no such warning or indication here so I assumed when you schedule a bill payment for a specific date, it would actually reach its destination on time. I got the run-around basically blaming ME for being careless? My multiple calls and insistence to speak to a supervisor went only as far as a promise to file a report with the complaint department, which will take 3 to 5 business days with no promises of a resolution. This is a horrible way to treat your long time loyal customer, or any customer for that matter. Very disappointed and considering to close my accounts altogether.

The card that arrived did not work. I reached out to customer service and confirmed the card's expiration date was wrong. I waited another week for a second card to arrive. I activated the card this morning and the card will not work for online payments. I call customer service a 3rd time where I am informed I have an entirely new card number due to a claim that the 1st card never arrived however the card I received this morning still does not match the card number on file.

A manager by the name of Dominique gets involved and informs me I can wait a 3rd week for a new card or I can pay 15 dollars for expedited shipping... I get to pay 15 dollars for a mistake Chase made 3 times? This is absolutely disgusting treatment of a customer who has been with chase for 10+ years. My father made a deposit in my Chase account for 2400 dollars because I was facing an eviction the following day, and it was of the utmost urgency that I get my rent paid. He made it with a very high-numbered check from a Wells Fargo account, a bank with which he had been with for thirty years. I had been with chase for over 15 years.

When I went to extract funds the next day, the chase representative informed me that there had been a hold placed on those funds for 14 days. I explained the urgency, and went so far as the executive offices of the CEO Jamie Dimon to try to get the hold released. He said there was a substantial reason to hold the funds. Please! My dad has been at the same bank, in the same house, for 30 years. I have been at chase for 15 years, and a part of this local Irving, Texas community for over 25 years. Really, chase? Surely you can do better than that? I would like to know one thing-what is that substantial reason? If I did not have good friends at my church, I would now be homeless.

They have charged outrageous fees recently for my accounts and give rates that aren't suitable for the economic situation. Wouldn’t answer but very nervous called my Chase original number for my credit card and went to the fraud department and they told me they had no such fraud number, no activity and I needed it. I was scammed and they needed to make a case number and to draw the money back.

There will be no problem with Zelle, but APPLE I would have to go through direct. I did so and to make no long story short no response from no one, money went through, went to the bank, got to run around for the bank. Teller and from the Bank Vice President. 10. I called again, was transferred three more times, spent another 25 mins, and was told to call back the next day.
    11. I called the next morning (now more than 72 hours into this ordeal). And after two transfers and 30 minutes on hold, Chase dropped the call - it hung up on me.
    12. I called back. After two transfers and 30 minutes more, I was told Chase would call me back.

    13. Chase called, asked me the same security questions I’d been asked for three days, and finally told me—for the first time—that the recipient account had been associated with fraud. They said my recipient might not get the funds and that it wouldn’t be Chase’s responsibility.

Why didn’t Chase tell me this immediately instead of wasting six hours of my time? Better yet, why allow transfers to accounts flagged for fraud at all? The website should say something like: “This account has been associated with fraud. The minimum first transfer allowed is $100, which you may lose." Then, if that transfer succeeds, they can increase the transfers incrementally, like Zelle does. Chase would only do something this logical if they didn't detest their clients - unfortunately, they absolutely hate us.

Chase has not figured out fraud prevention and instead puts the burden and frustration on customers. They are, without exaggeration, the worst bank I have ever dealt with. If Chase truly wants to improve customer experience, they need to fix their entire system. Right now, it feels like they have no interest in improving, and that they actively try to create nightmares for their clients. Their website is also a joke. They should take a look at Metro Bank UK, which offers the best banking experience in the world.

Chase has gone completely downhill. My problems started from the very beginning. When I first set an appointment at the McPherson branch, the banker sat in his office doing nothing while we waited in the lobby. The receptionist kept asking if he was going to take us, and he said, “yes, when their appointment time is.” Then, five minutes before my appointment, another customer walked in and he helped them instead. I got up and walked out. Ten minutes after my appointment time, he called saying he was “ready now.” I told him I had already left — my time is just as valuable as his. Thankfully, the Granbury branch treated me better and helped me immediately.

Unfortunately, things only got worse. Earlier this year I opened a business account, and just last week I opened another. To fund it, I deposited a money order from my other bank. Chase immediately placed a hold on the deposit, then notified me they were closing the account.

I was out of town, so I called for help. The rep I spoke with was rude, dismissive, and offered no solutions. When I returned and went into the local branch, I found out Chase made a typo in my business name when setting up the account—leaving off an “s.” Their error caused this entire mess. After over an hour at the bank and multiple calls to my old bank to verify the funds, I was assured the money would be released that day or the next.

Of course, it wasn’t. I called the number they gave me, only to be hung up on after being on hold. No one called me back. I tried again—same thing. When I asked one rep if Chase would call me back if we got disconnected, I was told “No, it’s Chase’s policy not to return calls.” Absolutely absurd.

After pushing for help, I was told my money wouldn’t be released for 7 more days because “it’s a new account” and “there’s nothing they can do.” When I demanded a supervisor, I was put on hold for 45 minutes with no resolution.

This is by far the worst banking experience I’ve ever had. Chase made the mistake with my account, yet I’m the one being punished with no access to my own money and zero accountability from anyone. The lack of professionalism, constant hang-ups, and refusal to help customers is beyond unacceptable.

If you value your time, money, and sanity, avoid Chase. They are no longer the bank they once were.

I processed a credit card payment which was a loan from an extended family member and because we shared the same last name they said I violated their terms of service and held up the transaction from months. My Family member disputed the transaction as soon as Chase notified me that they flagged the transaction and shut off my payment processing ability. Then they ran a Zelle transaction twice after messaging me the first transaction was denied and flagged from fraud. I had to get my account unblocked and was instructed to run the payment a second time.

After they unlocked my account they processed but the first and second transaction even though they notified me the first one was denied and they would not credit the first transfer back to my account. Fortunately the contractor I was paying was honest and after waiting a week for the results of the dispute he returned the money. This bank has been horrible. The only reason I still bank with them is because I moved my credit card processing to Quickbooks through my CPA and they staff at my local branch are amazing especially the Private Client manager Anna **. If it wasn't for her and the people at the counter I would have closed my account months ago. There were other issues that were reported and ignored. I never took further action because it like a waste of time. However, recently I am going through a situation that I feel cannot be ignored. This issue could have been prevented if Chase had: 1) better customer service, 2) better representation of facts, 3) better communication, 4) maybe shown a little compassion to their customer’s needs, 5) better disclosure of banks regulations, 6) employees knowing and doing their job especially from 30+ year service employee.

Chase has made this even more difficult from the poor customer service, poor misrepresentation of facts, poor communication, poor and unnecessary requests, unable to explain unreasonable time frames in processing forms, and finally the dishonesty and frustration created especially when no one wants to do their job and not held accountable for this poor performance. I do not understand how a company as large as Chase, all the years it has been in business, would allow this type of business. After going through this experience, Chase has NOT called or written with an explanation of apology for this poor service. Shame!

Absolutely horrendous customer service from the escalation team. Took 17 weeks to basically tell me they “atoned” with a Bluetooth speaker with giant Chase logo. Just insulting. Mortgage overview is as follows- My loan officer went away for 3 weeks about 2 weeks after I started the process. I was told at least 10 times that I could lower my rate by moving funds into Chase’s investments. Weeks later somebody finally told me that my investments didn’t qualify. Weeks after that, after I asked more questions, they acknowledged they were wrong and it would qualify. Unfortunately, Chase’s service fees are much higher, negating any potential reduction in interest rate.

I replied to many secured messages, only to find out that their secured message emails don’t work. Having a large corporation like Chase can’t figure that out is beyond me. And they never acknowledge the secure emails don’t work or why it’s put on their website until I kept telling them that I gave them the information they have requested multiple times already.

Duplicate request on a daily occurrence during the process increasing my frustration. I was given so much bad information that I feel it’s a miracle my loan was approved, although it only got approved a day before we closed on the house. So many managers were involved in everyone told me what I wanted to hear, but never came through. A manager brought up the atonement process and said she would request I get my good faith funds of $500 returned. After that, she ghosted me and I never heard from her again. I was later told that the request for the good faith funds being returned was made twice, but denied twice, without ever telling me or keeping me updated.

I found the contact info for the escalation team, which took 17 weeks to give me an answer which was, no return of the good faith funds, but as part of their atonement process, they’ve sent me a Bluetooth speaker complete with giant Chase logo that sells at Walmart for $29. How insulting. Absolutely terrible customer service and communication skills, and demeaning emails.

I completed the application with the credit union and they were forced to send by snail mail because Chase does not supply a fax number on any of the documents sent to me. The credit union confirms they sent application requesting transfer. After three calls to Chase, I still have not been able to get a fax number for the correct department. I signed in and sent an email to Chase asking for confirmation they had received the transfer. Their response was this is not something that can be handled and "require the expertise of our Retirement Services specialists" with a number to call.

This department tells me a different department handles that "because it is on the bank side" (whatever that means) and connects me with Derrick who informs me that I cannot have a fax number because that is not the way Chase handles this type of transaction. Derrick did confirm that yes, if I come into the bank it can be handled internally. Chase says they have not received application. Credit union confirms they mailed. I am over an hour from the nearest Chase branch. As a senior, this is not an easy commute. The branch bank does not answer the phone.

Since I have no proof they can deny receipt until they deem it time to process the transaction. From pass experience they will take the longest possible time allowed. They held a SS direct deposit for 6 months after my spouse died. The longest legal allowable time. Even though 4 calls to the SS administration said a release had been sent to Chase. There was a duct hanging from the ceiling down to one side of the lobby, which was especially noticeable on a rainy day. After opening my account, I encountered numerous issues when trying to set up online and mobile banking. The app requires extensive security questions just to access my account, which is frustrating. When I attempted to send money via Zelle to an external account I own, my account was blocked due to suspicious activity. I had to call customer service multiple times during this process to resolve these issues.

Additionally, they mixed up my accounts, making it difficult to keep everything organized. They suggested having all accounts in one place, but I prefer to keep some separate—particularly since my husband is the one who makes payments on our car loan. Overall, I am very disappointed with the process and the system’s performance. It has been a frustrating experience, and I am seriously considering switching banks again.

I've been a Chase customer for over 30 years with personal and business accounts and credit card also. I closed my personal some time ago due to growing problems, I recently closed a business account and opened a new business account, I'm about to close that one and move away from Chase for good. They've really gone downhill in the last 10-15 years. The "additional" security they say is required by changes in the law is a flat out lie. It's added inconvenience for you to help cover their own butts and or make things better or easier for them at your expense. I initially opened accounts with Chase since I traveled a lot and they had the most ATMs in the US. That's no longer an issue you can usually use any ATM and pay up to a few dollar fee for various transactions. The customer service has gone downhill both at the branches and if you call in.

That is, if you call in and get through to someone after going through a gauntlet of questions and verifications. Even the credit cards I've had for a long time, they've slowly been increasing the interest rate, when I ask them why they say that I don't use them enough and I pay them off each month. It's one joke after another. As Chase has become the biggest bank in the world they also became the bank with the most problems for customers. Do yourself a favor and take ALL your banking needs elsewhere.

I’m very disappointed with Chase Bank. I applied for a credit card after seeing their widely advertised “15 months 0% APR” offer, which seemed like a great deal. But after receiving the card and reviewing the terms, I discovered there was no 0% APR at all—instead, my interest rate was a shocking 21.74%. This feels like a bait-and-switch tactic. They promote 0% interest to attract customers, then lock you in with a high APR once you’ve signed up. For such a large, reputable bank, this kind of misleading practice is unacceptable. Chase comes across as deceptive and untrustworthy. I strongly recommend avoiding them if you don’t want to be misled or stuck with an outrageous rate.

On 8/19/2025, 13:01. I walked into this branch to deposit cash of 700$. There were 6 of 100$ bills and 5 of 20$ bills, together 700$. I counted them on the Chase counter, in front of the teller Dena, before I hand them to the her. It was 700$, and the area I counted the cash was a right ankle that Chase camera on the ceiling would capture clearly. Cashbox #07, Session #16, Transaction #34.

After I hand the 700$ to teller Dena, I looked down to my wallet because I needed to put back my debit card. Then I heard her saying it's only 660$. In between her have my cash and the cash goes on the counting machine, I lost eye contact of the money about 10 seconds. I immediately ask my money back and count again. At this time, it's too late, only 660$ left. Even I lost eye contact for that time, but the camera on ceiling capture everything.

The deposit amount still shows 700$ now in my account because I needed to deposit 700$ so it's enough to pay credit card bills, so I pulled money Again from my wallet which was 40$ to make it become 700$ again. The camera would also capture me pulled money the 2nd time from wallet. I know 40$ is not a very big amount, but if this happens as a pattern on different customers too, together could be a big amount. Everything was captured on the camera including I was counting the 700$ on the counter at the very beginning, the evidence is there. I hope Chase can investigate on this.

Issue number one, somehow through a Roku device I was charged for an annual subscription for Paramount+ and I asked for the charge to be reversed because I was also being charged a monthly fee for a subscription for a Paramount+. They had okayed it and then reversed it and took the money back out of my account after a couple of weeks. So they allowed me to be double charged for the same thing even though you could see that it was the same thing.

Today I called because my father had written me a check a week ago. They use voice recognition to allow you to have conversations with staff. They asked me what my verbal passcode was. I never set one up. I have no idea what it is. They refused to talk to me even though you need your Social Security number, your bank card, and your own voice recognition to talk to someone. So I’m going to wait for my father‘s check to clear and I am closing that account. I am done with this bank. I just bought a car and I needed to know why it was going to take so long for the check to clear and they won’t help me when I call. I had initially gone into the bank and they wouldn’t help me in person. So why would I continue to give them my money if they can’t help me at all? I will be closing my account with them, the Chase Bank in Waco Texas and also filing a complaint with BBB and AARP about the way I was treated when my VA retirement check go directly to Chase Bank. The bank's policy on large check deposits is arguably criminal. I deposited a 6 figure check (my portion of an asset sale) from my business partner on 8/8 (Friday) and they placed a 7 business day hold on the deposit. This has happened before but I’ve always called and had them verify with issuing bank and release the hold thereafter. Problem is that issuing bank no longer verifies to “third parties”. Issuing bank did however send a snapshot of transaction clearly showing the check was paid on 8/11 (following Monday). Chase refuses to accept that as verification and has advised that the hold was placed as the transaction was “uncommon” for my account. They act like they don’t really know whether or not they actually have the funds. Truth is they are using my money for an unacceptable period.

I understand and have absolutely no problem with a reasonable hold on a large check deposit but 7 business days (10 calendar) and 6 business days after the check has verifiably been cleared is an absolute travesty. This is also after 4 calls to their “hold department” and 1 to a local branch. The branch manager, BTW, was cordial, professional and tried diligently to assist, however she was clearly handcuffed by bank policy and overridden after reaching out to the “hold team” once again on my behalf. My funds are scheduled to be available on 8/19. I realize Chase isn’t making a ton of money off my $115k for 5 or 6 days, but multiply that times the other throngs of customers being arbitrarily treated similarly and it adds up.

To Whom It May Concern Chase Bank – Customer Relations. Subject: Denied Access to Funds During Medical Emergency – July 28, 2022. I am writing to share a troubling experience that occurred at your branch located at 4843 N Kedzie Avenue, Chicago, on the morning of July 28, 2022. That day, I was preparing to bring my wife to Swedish Covenant Hospital’s emergency room due to severe pain and limited mobility. Before heading there, I stopped at your branch to withdraw $300 in cash to cover immediate expenses. The ATM did not allow the withdrawal, so I went inside to request assistance.

I approached a bank employee seated at one of the customer service cubicles. I explained to a bank employee that my wife was in our car outside, unable to walk due to her condition. From where he was seated, the car was clearly visible, approximately 100 to 120 feet away. I asked if he could step outside to verify her identity so I could access our funds. He refused, stating Bank Policy and she needed to come inside. I repeated that she was in pain and could barely walk, but he again declined to help.

I left the bank feeling shocked and disturbed by the lack of compassion and flexibility shown during a clear medical emergency. My wife was admitted to Swedish Covenant’s emergency ward for approximately 10 hours and later transferred by ambulance to Skokie Hospital for orthopedic surgery. She remained hospitalized until August 2, 2022.

We had approximately $700 in our account at the time. I was not asking for a loan or special treatment—just access to our own funds to manage a crisis. I’ve asked nurses, doctors, EMT personnel, and community members what I could have done differently. All responded with sympathy and disbelief that we were denied help. So, I ask now, respectfully and without bitterness: Is there truly no policy or discretion available for situations like this—where a customer is in medical distress and simply needs access to their own money? I share this not to seek an apology, but to raise a question that deserves reflection. Emergencies don’t follow protocol, and sometimes compassion must guide policy.

    Sincerely,

Then the guy leave the window and come back again. Did the same thing and the teller instead of saying, "Excuse me I call you but I have a pending transaction with him. Can you go to the next window? He will help you," no. The teller argue and said he was here before. Very disappointed how business owners are allowing such a bad service. It is very sad I go to this bank. Have no choice. Basically, I will not be able to receive the benefit of two free checked bags in 2026, no matter how much I spend on my Chase Gateway card between August 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025. If I spend more than 10k between January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026, I will get two free checked bags on United Airlines in 2027. I have accrued mileages on my old Awards card and Chase is no longer offering this card, I had to switch to Chase Gateway card. Chase forfeited my 20k bonus miles for a new card (Chase Gateway card), so I think that my purchase starting January 1, 2025 from my Chase MileagePlus Awards card should count, and If I spend more than 10 k in 2025, and the benefit of two free checked bags should be available to me between January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026.

The Unreasonable one year delay for customers to receive the benefit of two free checked bags is the strategy for Chase Bank to retain more money for themselves??? Within the last year, Chase has really failed at conducting large business transactions so much that I am looking for another bank to move my business and personal accounts too. Back in October, I had to transfer $12,000 for my commercial lease for deposits and first month's rent, and all I got was a full day panic attack. I started out my day physically going into my Chase bank to fill out paperwork to initiate a wire transfer, which the teller told me was the best way to get the money over. Went though all identification process and sent the transfer then went into work.

At noon I got a phone call to verify the transfer, and then an hour or two later the funds were returned to my account less $50 of it. When I called, they said there was a fraud alert put on the wire transfer that I was charged a nonrefundable $50 for, and then I had to rush to the bank before they closed to get a cashier's check to physically take to the leasing agent to secure our commercial space. By the time I could break free and get to the bank, it was 4:55pm. The representative at the beginning of the day should have notified me that Chase is not capable of processing large wire transfers, and I would have just gone with a cashier's check in the first place at 9am.

More recently, I deposited a check of $7,700 that was for a contractor for a roof. Instead of depositing the funds in 2 days like the Chase teller told me, they made a decision to place a 10 day hold on the check without informing me. I called on the day it was supposed to be available at 7:30am and ended up having to call 3 more times throughout the day and go into a branch location in person at 4:45pm. Chase called the person who wrote the check to confirm it was legit, and that got completed, and then they went through all these fraud channels that got denied by the system. By the end of the day sorry was the only answer to why the funds had to be held for the full 10 days to get approval to be deposited.

In the mean time I have pissed off contractors who want to get paid that I have to turn around and apologize to because Chase needs my money more than me. Chase also assessed 5 overdraft fees in that account while they were "holding" the funds because none of the funds from the check were available immediately like all other deposits on the planet. Even the teller told me that $275 of it would be available immediately. Very convenient business operations. Once again, the teller should have informed me that it would be better to withdraw cash and deposit that instead of a check.

Ultimately, Chase has difficulty processing large transactions for small businesses. I've not had the same issue with my personal account as I don't remember having any issues depositing $5-9,000 in there at a time. I just don't think Chase is really set up for business transactions, and everything on their back end is handled by AI and through the system. The employees don't even have any manual override control. All they can do is apologize to customers that the computers determine what looks fraudulent or not, and the employees can't do anything about it. I just randomly got chosen twice this year for fraud. I no longer want to bank with a bank who treats me like a criminal when I'm just trying to get people paid.

After being deceived by a merchant (Got Grillz), I submitted a dispute through the proper channels with clear, documented evidence. Despite this, Chase’s dispute team sided with the merchant, who not only kept both my money and the product, but also provided false information to mislead the resolution process.

What’s most troubling is that I made multiple attempts over the course of a year to escalate and resolve this, only to be met with dismissive or automated responses. As an ** woman, I cannot help but feel that my case was not taken seriously, and that bias may have influenced the outcome. This experience has shaken my trust in Chase. The Disputes Department urgently needs training in identifying racial bias and in handling cases with fidelity, diligence, and fairness. I am so disappointed that I chose this bank to run my business account... I’m not sure where to begin. Simple transactions like writing a check to a vendor if they do not like the check they will just cancel it and NEVER call you or notify you. This is embarrassing because you have to look into your account and wait on the phone for hours and go through so many checks and balances Just for them to tell you “well sorry I know you wanted to issue a check but we’re not going to send this specific vendor a check” and they never give you a reason.

It gets worse.. so I gravitate away from hand written checks because Chase doesn’t like checks…. I then try to send an “ACH payment” to a vendor so that I can get labor and employees on a project so that I can run my business… They promised to send the payment within one day… They then decide “well we’re not gonna send this payment either and we’re NOT going to notify you and tell you that we’re not going to send the payment… You’re going to have to log into your account and call us and go through so many hoops to figure out why we decided not to send this ACH payment to your vendor… and then you have to wait two or three more days” before they’ll send that money to your vendor.. if they send it at all..

And on top of it, they charge you a fee for the service that they promised to provide within one day and it’s more like four or five days.. Try to pull cash same thing they want to know why even if it’s your money well they don’t like that you’re taking cash.. It’s almost like they’re holding your money hostage. It’s so embarrassing where you have hundreds of thousands of dollars in a Chase account and you’re trying to pay a vendor of measly 10 grand and they refuse to send it..

This is absolutely the worst banking experience I’ve ever had in my entire life. It’s so embarrassing to try to run a legitimate business… With a bank that does not know how to do simple things like “banking transactions”… Every other bank contacts you first to confirm that you wrote a check or are trying to send a wire, etc. etc. before they cancel a transaction.. they text you , they email you.. they call you .. Chase does none of these things!!! NONE NONE NONE… If you want to run a reputable business, stay very far away from this bank.. To be absolutely clear this is: JP MORGAN CHASE BANK NA .. I proceeded to physically hand the teller $4,000 (40x$100 bills) while also verbally communicating that it was $4,000. Then I handed her $1,000 (10x $100 bills) and verbally communicated that it was $1,000. Lastly, I handed her $2,000 (mix of $50, $20, $10 notes) also verbally communicating that it was $2,000 in various notes.

The cashier never physically counted the cash I handed her, only used the money counting machine but never communicated to me the total. The teller counted each increment individually; I could not see the total displayed anywhere At this point there was zero communication that the increments were different than what I handed her and communicated to her. She told me to look at the pin pad for the total and press the green button while she put the money into the large money counter. The screen displayed $6,000.

I immediately told her that was not the correct amount that I gave her. She said that the money was already in the machine, and she could not take it out to recount it in front of me. So one amount was put on the counter, but "magically" different one was under the counter. I asked the manager to recount money, but they only performed an audit of the machine. I requested to check the cameras to see where the error occurred but was informed that can't be done. If you do happen to bank with them, absolutely never use Apple Pay with Chase as they will steal your money. You will try to get the problems escalated and Supervisor will laugh at your misfortune. They will guide you in the wrong direction and not give you the full information. You literally have to pull it out of them step-by-step, which is beyond frustrating. If I could give this bank, no stars I would.
