I have enrolled in wamu online statements. I have no other contact with wamu but online. Today I accidentally clicked and requested a copy of a check. No where in that webpage did it tell me I was going to be charged if I click request it. It does not even says how much. Only after I requested it, a pop up window told me I will be charged for it. But again, it does not say how much I will be charged. I immediately called the bank to the 800 number and explained that I did not know they were going to charge me. They did not care about my situation and told me there was nothing they could do. That I was still going to be charge for it because I requested it. But I did not know I had to pay! It did not warned me at all before I clicked!

I went into my local Washington Mutual branch to deposit a $3500 check. Before leaving the bank I was told that the deposit posted to my checking account and the funds were immediately available for withdrawal. I checked my receipt and it confirmed what the teller told me. On the same day of the deposit, I initiated a $3300 ACH transfer from my checking account to another bank.
On 1/14/08, the deposit date was 1/11/08, I received a account alert stating that my ACH request was denied for lack of funds available. Of course I immediately called the 800 number to find out what was going on because the teller, my receipt, and the web site told me the funds were available for withdrawal. I was told that the risk department put a hold on the $3500 check deposit but wasn't given a reason.
The next day I went into the same branch and asked why I wasn't told about a possible hold and why the teller told me the funds were available for immediate withdrawal. Because of the hold on the funds, my other checking account now shows a negative balance. When I asked what could be done, since this was clearly not my fault, the teller told me there was nothing that he could do and to wait for the hold to be lifted.
It is now a week later and I still have a negative balance in my other checking account and can't get the risk hold lifted for the $3500 deposit. This is not a good way to conduct business. Everyone keep apologizing but apologies don't fix the problem. I will close both of my accounts with Washington Mutual and tell everyone that I can not to do business with them.

i had a balance of $987.50 and wamu bounced 3 checks, one for $100, one for $12.17, and one for $100. This incurred $90 of insufficient funds fees and when I called them on it they said there was nothing to do and it was my fault.
i couldn't pay my pge and they punished me with late fees.

I made a $12,000 deposit to my daughter's WAMU account, as I needed to make a tuition payment early in 2008. We deposited and saw it posted on Dec 24, 2007, but the funds had not cleared in 10 business days (Jan 8, 2008). When I called to talk to customer relations (1-800-788-7000), I ran into several very disturbing problems.
1. There was no opton in the electronic voice center to talk to a representative (I stumbled into a connection by simply not pushing any buttons). I suppose this is a strategy to reduce nuisance calls, but it is very bad customer service policy. 2. When I spoke with a representative, he was polite but could not give me any rationale for the delay in clearing the check, which I explained should have never taken longer than 10 business days (that would be January 8) but he kept repeating a line the first $100 is available immediately, but the bank branch determines how long a check will be held until funds clear?. Also, he told me we we needed to discuss when funds would be needed at the time of deposit? and that customer service could do nothing to help?. Of course, we had no way of knowing that this would be delayed so excessively. 3. I asked to be transferred to a supervisor and spoke with a polite woman who sustained the statement that customer service could do nothing to help and described how the branch where the deposit was made was the only place that could help, but that would have had to have been at the time of deposit.
I never imagined a less helpful discussion, so asked for her supervisor, who was not available. I have been promised a call-back within 2 days. I tried to explain that the problem needed to be resolved sooner than that or the university that we needed to pay tuition to would levy a hefty late fee. So how do I view what happened? This was a needless alienating experience for a customer who has done business with wamu for decades. When I called my old wamu bank branch in California (Portola Valley, three hours behind GA so still business hours) I got the explanation I needed, immediately and without any insulting repetition or blather. The manager there said I would do this over the phone if the deposit was made at this branch, so just go to your the branch where you made the deposit and they will take care of it tomorrow morning. We made the deposit in Toco Hills branch in Atlanta, and will hope to resolve this in the morning. In any eventuality, I will never call what wamu incorrectly labels Customer Service again! I am totally baffled why their customer service phone center could be so poor.

My savings account at Washington Mutual was closed without any prior notification on 12-11-07. They said it was done at a branch I have never been to. I never signed any paper to authorize such cancellation of my account. They say a check was mailed on the 12th of December and I still haven't received it. I went back to the branch several times and I spoke to many representatives in person and by phone, but they still don't know why my account was closed and all they say is that they can't do anything to get my money back until I get the check. It's been more than 20 days and I still haven't got the check.
The problem is that I am not working and since they took my savings away form me I am in debt for things that I had to pay and I hadn't anticipated to be out of money. In consequence, I had to borrow money to pay for my necessities. That was my spare money for moments like this. They closed my account without my authorization or knowledge and put that money out of my reach because of their ineptitude. I wasn't even able to buy gifts for Christmas or have a decent dinner because they closed my account, no New Year's celebration and they sent me a check that I still haven't received. Thanks to Washington Mutual's mistake I am struggling and had the worst holidays of my life and I am buried in debts and all they say is sorry.

June 2003 when I opened a platinum checking, platinum savings, and CDs in Washington Mutual Bank, they said there would be no monthly charges as long as I keep $10,000 as the combining balance. Since my CD exceeds well over $10,000, I opened these accounts. In June 2007, I received a monthly bank statement from WAMU and found out they were charged $20 ($10 each for May and June) for monthly fees into my platinum savings account. They did not send me a May statement. It happened before when they mistakenly de-linked my CDs from my checking or savings, and it was corrected through call center easily then. As usual, I called their call center and heard that their policy changed, and it is no longer combined, but balance of platinum savings account is by itself since May. They had never informed me about the policy changes until the day I called and refused to refund the money. Failed to answer my questions of when and what address they mailed me the information regarding policy changes.
They said that they have the right to change the policy without prior notification to customers. I had no reason to keep the platinum savings if I knew the policy changes on monthly fees. I closed the account immediately for avoiding any more service charges. Felt Wamu intentionally did not send policy change notice earlier to me so that they could get the service charges. The internet advertisement of 5% interest lured me to sign up their online savings in Sepr. 2007. In October, 2007, I called their call center and asked whether or not there is any monthly limit of online bill transactions from my online savings account. She said no limits. Therefore, I changed my bank accounts for several bill payments from my other bank to this account. In November 2007, they charged $10 for service excess fees into my online savings. I called the service center and found out there were indeed 6 limits of transaction per month, but mine was 7.
I told the manager about a call for this specifically. I even offered him the exact date I made the call so that they could track the phone call which was recorded for quality control. He said he cannot listen to the phone records. If no tracking, what's the recording for? And if the call center employee spreads wrong information to customers with no corrections from her supervisor, what is the purpose of their existence after all? If the call center employee gave me the correct information, I would be very careful of the number of transactions and easily spread my bill pays to my other bank accounts. The manager apologized for misguidance done by the call center employee but no refunds again. I don't want apologies; I want my money back!

Don't use this bank if you will ever need customer service. The customer service calls are answered all over the world, including Manila, Philippines. In addition, they can't speak English. They can't even pronounce Washington Mutual, which is sad. Once I was tired of repeating and respelling things over and over to many different people; I asked if they were in the US, and they lied to me and said they were in the Seattle area. I asked them a very simple geography question about the Seattle area, and they had no clue what the answer was. I was later told that they were instructed not to tell the customers that they were out of the country, but that rule has since changed. I went into my branch to discuss this with someone, and what I got was a haughty, indignant attitude from the manager who loudly told me that outsourcing was now industry standard, and I would not find another bank that did things differently.
I then listed at least 5 banks in the immediate area that are locally owned and calls were answered in our own city. He then tried to change the subject--"So, then what can I do for YOU?" I called Corporate office and the nice lady who answered said that it was pretty unpopular with the customers, but that the call-outsourcing was a corporate decision that she could not change. She said that the best thing to do would be to voice your opinion at the corporate level and possibly if enough people call or close their accounts, the executives might sit up and take notice. I have been a customer for almost 20 years, and I am going to a local bank. Do yourself a favor, THINK LOCAL...use a Credit Union, or a local bank, something other than this huge monstrosity of a company.

No matter how early I make my payment on my credit card, it never is applied on time, so of course I am charged $35 for late fees and $35 for over-limit fees. In Novemember, I paid my bill on Novemember 2, it wasn't due until Nov. 4, which was a Sunday. And still, I was charged $35 in late fees and $35 in over limit fees because they didn't post the payment to my account until Novemember 6. I make all my payments online, and on WAMU's site, you can get your payment to post right then by paying an extra $14.95 to make it cover right then. I wonder if they are doing that so they can make extra money to go along with all the late fees and over limit fees. I closed my account with them because of this issue, one I have had since using a credit card from them. At the rate it is going now, I will never get it paid off! I have made numerous attempts to have this settled to no avail. Their csr tell me that they can't refund my late fees or over limit fees back to my account because it is closed, but yet they can charge me all these fees. I just wish once I could call them and actually understand the person whom I am speaking too, but I am thinking that will never happen.
I have experienced lots of stress, an extreme amount of stress considering I am disabled with 2 children and on a fixed income.

Washington Mutual decided to close my credit account on December 14th. The firm informed me through a letter that due to inactivity, the account has been closed. They also stated that information on Transunion such as balances too high in relation to limits has caused the closure--which is ABSOLUTELY FALSE. I check my credit every month, and my score on that credit agency is 742. This is a horrible business decision by upper management that will effect 1 million as stated by one of the reps! The government needs to step in on these financial firms because they are doing business that is hurting people who may need to retain lending in the future, such as myself who is looking for a mortgage next year. Now my Fico score will go down due to this blunder. Please, ALL OTHER WAMU CARD HOLDERS THAT HAVE HAD YOUR ACCOUNT CLOSED ON DECEMBER 14TH, LIST YOUR COMPLAINT HERE and maybe something can come of it.
They stated in the letter that this would not effect my credit, but that is completely wrong. By closing the account and taking away the large available balance, this will no doubt hurt my score, thus hurting my borrowing power when looking to obtain a mortgage next year.

I have been a member of Washington Mutual since 1999 and my dad even longer. In 06 I found out that that we have become a victim of online banking (Washington Mutual) Identity Theft and it had been going on for 2 years and I never got a statement for a year and a half because it went somewhere else. After I found out, I did my own investigation and got all my statements for 2004-2006 and I was blown away. I mean I was taken for a lot of money, but what makes me more upset is how much money the bank made to $5000.00 overdraft and$1500.00 on extra charges and the fact their customer service didn't want to help. I feel the bank owes me for all those overdraft charges and extra charges and the $180.00 they had the nerve to charge me for the staements I needed. You would think they would try and help you in anyway possible.
I've suffered emotionally, physically and financial distress and I don't even go into the bank. I have been in debt since this matter and it's been a year of stress and anger to finally get this thing to court (criminal) and now I want to take wamu to court because I feel they are partially responsible because they should have done something like close the acount or freeze the acct, then I would have to go in the bank to talk to someone. I have reported this to everybody and done everythig a victim is suppose to do, all I want is justice.

Washington Mutual decided our safe deposit box belonged to another customer who was not paying their bill. Without notifying us, and while continuing to charge us rent on the box, they drilled it, removed our property, then sent it to the State Controllers Office. When we went to the bank to open the box, there were two boxes with our number on it, neither of which could be opened with our key. One week later, the boxes were drilled. The one they thought belonged to us was empty; the one they thought was empty contained the property of another person. After one month, the bank located our property at the State Controllers Office and had it mailed back to the bank. At no time did they realize that the documents with our names on them belonged to a bank customer, nor were we notified, even though their records clearly showed us as the renters of that box. When we went to the bank to receive our property we were kept waiting for two hours before any employee would talk to us, and they then informed us that they would not return our property. The bank manager and assistant manager never return our phone calls, failed to keep us informed of the progress of our case, and always blamed other employees who no longer work at the bank, and deny any responsibility for our inconvenience and loss.
Access to important documents was delayed for over six weeks. Family heirlooms may have been stolen, and the bank wants us to prove we own them before they will offer any settlement. We have been unable to inspect our property, so have no idea whether or not anything is missing.

I have been banking with WAMU for approximately 3 yrs. This is my story: On 12/14/2007 I personally went to a teller and withdrew from my acct $370.00 and made a deposit to another WAMU acct for $140.00. The amount dispensed to me was supposed to have been for $230.00 but instead I received $140.00. The receipt clearly states that the amount dispensed was $140.00. On 12/15/2007 I contacted the branch manager, Alexis, and explained to him the situation. Alexis stated that he would put in an investigation and that I would have to wait until Tuesday 12/18/2007 for the results. Even though I clearly had the receipt as evidence. Therefore on 12/18/2007, I called him on the phone in order to obtain an update. However, after 3 different attempts, Alexis stated that a response was not back and that in the meantime he would deposit $90.00 to my account. That same day during the night time, I called telephone service, and CSR stated that an investigation was never filed and that $90.00 was never deposited to my account. The CSR placed the investigation the same night and stated that it will take about 5 business days for the results. So, here we are 12/18/07 at 10:27pm. It has been 3 business days from Friday and I still have not received MY money.
Due to this situation, I have been very depressed. I am a single mother, so every penny counts in my budget. The branch manager did not provide the service that I required and evidently thought that I was lying. I needed this money to pay a bill, especially during the Christmas season. My money is very unsecure in this bank. The service provided was the worst. I would never recommend WAMU to anyone.

I went in to close my Chase Business Checking account. The business banker helping me asked why I was choosing to close my account. I communicated that I was tired of paying a $10 service fee for months when I didn't maintain an average balance of $4000 in my account and thought Chase marketing techniques were predatory. The business banker for the duration of the transaction insisted it was MY fault that I was closing my account because: a) I didn't follow up and contact someone at the bank to find a better suited account (even though I did and communicated this to him, and also mentioned I was in the lowest balance checking account they maintain - something he should have already known) and b) the predatory phone calls I had received from one of their branches were simply a person trying to help me move to a better account type (again, communicated that the individual on two different accounts called and left messages under false pretenses that she needed to talk to me about my account - only to call back and discover she was only trying to sell me something).
Regardless of my reasons, I found this banker's attitude and approach to be offensive, aggressive and rude - the very reason I was leaving Chase. I understand in most cases they are supposed to make a modest attempt to change a person's mind who is closing an account - but this was just arrogant and rude. Other than being extremely frustrated for a few hours, I'm just happy to no longer be a Chase customer.

I am a customer of Washington Mutual and was in good standing until I became a victim of internet identity. The theft, which was done on my on-line banking, had been going on for 2 years until I found out so I was blown away on all the overdraft charges. There were 22 in 2 weeks and all started in 2004 to 2006, but I never really saw a statement until 06/05. I was in severe depression and had an unstable mind. 9/06 is when I realized what was going on and and couldn't believe all the money the bank made from me on overdraft charges and other extra fees - $6000.00. They should have called or at least frozen the account and atm card since they couldn't by mail. I am prosecuting this case and I also hold the bank partially responsible as they did no handle my case in a professional matter and won't admit they were wrong or even apologize.
Since 9-06 I have suffered emotional and mental abuse and it caused me to take a year to put all the pieces together of what happen. Now, since visiting the DA office, she told me what I need to do and now I am ready to take it back to the police department. I have been broke all the time fighting off bill collecters because I lost over $1000.00 and that was all my life savings. I am emotionally scarred and will never get over it. All I want is justice.

I went online to try and pay the balance of $201.71 which was applied after I mistakingly assumed that the Statement opening date referred to the month you received your bill, in that month. Anyway, I found out that you can only pay the balance of your statement online and nothing exceeding that amount so as to pay any additional amounts that have accrued since. You also have to wait 3 business days in order to make another payment. I asked the supervisor why in the year 2007, with all the technology available, that you cannot exceed the balance in order to stop interest being applied to interest? Their answer was that I could pay the bill when I receive my statement in January. Excuse me? I would never finish getting my balance to zero based on that recommendation. I have never encountered such imbeciles and "robotoids" in my entire life.
I have my mortgage with them which means nada. I will be paying off that very soon and will write a scathing letter to the president about past and present horrific dealings with them. I had a mortgage through Chase which included home owners Insurance. This year the sent me a check for an overpayment on my insurance. Though I do not own the home any more I thought it was a oversight from when I did own the home, so I cashed it at the local store from me last week. I went in there yesterday for gas, and the owner tells me Chase put a stop an the payment. The company that cashed the check tells him if I do not resolve this in 7 days, Orange Co. FL will issue a warrant for my arrest.
So far it has caused stress and anxiety. I am currently under observation for Depression and Manic disorders. I have dealt with Chase on many occasions and they were always rude and an unorganized company. Being the father of three and married, I cannot afford now to pay the $390 that was given to me by Chase--payment stopped by Chase--and I have no work lined up until January 4. When I was deciding which bank to open a savings account with, I researched a few of the banks and Washington Mutual appeared to have the least amount of fees. Most of the other banks had all these fees listed and I already had a wamu checking account so I thought I was in the clear in terms of the fees. This month I was charged an excess activity fee. I called immediately and was told that it is federal law that I get charged for anymore than 6 transactions per month. First of all, I am required to transfer every month to avoid a monthly fee. Second, all my transfers were from one wamu account to the other except for the direct deposit from my job. Third, I called to try and close my account and I was told that they would have to charge me another excess activity fee which would put my account negative and then I would be charged a fee for my account being negative from their fee! I don't even know who to talk to or complain to! Washington Mutual has all these ads for being the little guy among the big national banks and being truly free, but it seems as though they just hide their fees better. Is there anywhere I can really write so someone will listen? All I really want is for Wamu to be more upfront about their fees, rather than having this front as being Free and being the Little guy; when they really just hide their fees better. I don't think they should be allowed to have commercials like that and still be so underhanded with their fees.

I am a student and have been a customer of Washington Mutual for several years. For the first time, my account was apparently overdrawn this past week. Wamu continued to charge Overdraft fees even though my account balance continued to dip negatively, all the while continuing to permit the use of my ATM card for all purposes, including withdrawing funds and paying at retail facilities. Certainly I would not have been using the card had I known this was even a remote possibility. In fact I had deposited far more money than I spent in the past week, just last week, and the only reason I continued spending was I believe it had been credited. The charges were $30 dollars each and included charges when the amount spent was 1 cent. (to McDonalds). I refuse to understand how or for what Mcdonalds charged me one cent, but nonetheless it is present on my Washington Mutual account as an overdrafted withdrawal.
With the most up to date information, I have a total overdraw fee of at least $180 dollars, however I believe it will rise significantly as the last 2 days of expenses are credited. As a student with the term near conclusion there are numerous project deadlines I must adhere too as well as final examinations this week. This situation with Washington Mutual has severely increased the stress I feel, and has the potential of damaging my end-of semester performance which could easily affect my long term chances of success. I would like to know about any pending, ongoing class-action lawsuits I could join to address my grievances.

In November 2007, my girlfriend wanted to start a small business and so we decided that we should open a bank account for it. I had previously worked for Washington Mutual and remembered their policies being reasonable when I worked for them, so we went to our nearest branch and signed up for a Small Business checking account. Less than one month later, I check our account balance through the Online Banking service and discover that we are overdrawn. I do a quick overview of charges and it turns out I have a charge for $59.95 that I never approved, to pay for a product that I had been offered for free. No big deal, I think, this sort of thing happens all the time and when I worked for WaMu there would have been no cost to a customer that had this happen to them.
I call the offending company to work things out, then drop by my local branch the next day and make a deposit, explaining that I'll call back about the overdraft fees when I get the refund for the unauthorized charge. The company refunded the $59.95. I called the 1-800 number to tell them that the $59.95 was unauthorized and has since been taken care of and that I would like my 3 overdraft fees (totaling $96.00) refunded since they would have not happened if not for this charge. The representative tells me he can't refund it so I wait on hold for a manager. The manager tells me they can't refund it because it's not the bank's error. I decide to talk to my branch in person and get the same answer; even though I did nothing to incur this fee, even though the bank is incurring no expense by refunding it, it's the merchant's fault and therefore the merchant has to refund it. Or if they won't it's my problem. Even if it's the result of an unauthorized charge.
I mention that had I filed a dispute with the bank itself I would have been able to claim the overdraft charges on the dispute but had actually saved the bank labor by calling the merchant and resolving it myself but no one wants to hear any logic that doesn't involve them keeping my money. I'm currently fighting both the bank and the merchant on this; I've been promised a call back from both and it's been almost a week. I'm considering legal options as I'm not entirely convinced WaMu can charge me for what happened. If they can it's an argument against having debit cards at all and certainly against having one with the kind of bank that would blatantly mug its customers like this.

My experience with Chase Bank began when I inquired about their rates, thinking I had lost my credit card that I held with another bank. The person I spoke with at Chase said he needed my driver's license to verify my identity and would let me know the next day about the rates. In the meantime I found my credit card and told him I was no longer interested in pursuing an account with Chase. However, he began to call me with various offers of lower rates, offering various options, and with follow up calls. I asked him to stop calling.
About a week later I received my credit card bill (with another bank) which had a $17,000.00 credit. I assumed it was my husband's commission check; but a few days later I received a statement from Chase Bank Card Services with a $17,075.00 charge, which included a $75.00 transfer fee. I went into the bank to ask how this occurred, the assistant manager I met with said she would cancel the card. (I have just learned that when a person cancels a credit card it lowers the credit score, which I believe has already happened because of higher interest rate charges on my other accounts.) She also said the banks employee would not have opened an account without my permission. I asked if he was in the bank ,and she called him into the office where he admitted that he opened an account because that is what he thought I wanted him to do--which was a lie, of course. I left the bank assuming the manager would reverse all financial transactions connected to the event caused by that employee and that everything would be restored to its previous condition by Chase contacting all of my creditors to explain the unauthorized funds transfer. Later that week I received a call from the Chase Bank Fraud Investigation department saying they were following up on my complaint with their own internal investigation, which made me feel more relieved.
When the next monthly statement came showing the same incorrect information. When I called, they said they would charge me to transfer the money back even though I never authorized the transfer in the first place. On October 18, 2007 I received a letter from the Chase Bank fraud department stating that their investigation found that certain items or balances previously stated to be fraudulent in nature have been found to be legitimate! I immediately realized that Chase had decided to cover its fraudulent behavior with a flat denial of any responsibility for the current situation and compounded that with getting out of their responsibilities with the transfer of funds.
All of these problems stemming from my experiences with Chase Bank have affected my health. And, still Chase Bank has collection agencies calling me at least 5 times a day at all hours.

Where do I begin? Chase suckered me in with the promise of a free $80 when I opened a checking account. Not a good deal as Chase has successfully charged my account with $3,243 in fees to date. Some was my fault, I am not perfect. However, when a payroll check for $308.80 was taken off of our account due to suspensions, I called, enraged, and asked when I would receive the money. A representative made a note on my account about my calling and told me to call back on Wednesday of the following week to find out when it would be available. When I did so, the rep asked me what check? I see a note, however I do not see a check in the pending files. There must have been an error. It was about that time I racked up about $3000 of the fees because I literally could not keep up with everything going through, and I am currently in debt to them still a grand total of $311.80, after I put my claim into them and settled $652 and some change. I will not pay the $311, it is literally just buying me time.
Because of this all happening, I am on the verge of losing my apartment and my credit is so far down there I am quite literally drowning in debt because I couldn't pay my bills and they stacked up. I am currently looking for an attorney to find out if what they did was illegal. Who knows, I might just win!

I took it upon myself to cancel my debit card and have a new card issued in 7-10 days. On Nov 13th at 3:45AM, I notified WAMU that the fraudulent transactions had been posted. With the fraudulent transaction claim completed, I was informed it might take 7-10 days to reverse the fraudulent items. I complained that my account was negative due to the transactions and overdraft charges would be incurred and was assured all would be corrected in 7-10 days. On Nov 26th, WAMU finally reversed the fraudulent transactions and only 1 $30 overdraft charge, conveniently forgetting the other $270 in overdraft charges incurred due to the fraudulent transactions. The reversal was posted with the date of Nov 26th and not when the fraudulent transactions actually posted on Nov 13th.
Fraudulent transactions caused $300 in overdraft charges and WAMU graciously reversed only $30 in overdraft charges.

I was furious and called the bank and had it out with them. Their manager Sherry called and verified the check on Wednesday with the bank in Texas. Our certified funds check is still on hold until 11/28/07. In the meantime, my husband made a deposit on 11/21/08 into another account so as not to complicate things more with the business account. On Friday, we tried using our atm card from the personal account. Our card was denied. We called the 800 number and were told that absolutely no debits would be approved because there was not enough money in that account or in our business account to cover the initial $6,000 certified funds check.
During my arguing with the branch, I received a call from their security personnel. Then the local sheriff called me. The bank is closing both of our accounts. We have no access to our money in these accounts. They are going to hold our money until December 6. I tried calling the bank and was referred to the 800 number. I called the 800 number and was referred to the bank who said they were no longer doing business with me and referred me back to the 800 number and said to work it out with them.
We became very depressed. It was Thanksgiving week and we had no access to our money in our business account, nor our personal account in which a deposit of $370.00 had been made on Wednesday.

Since finding employment in May '07, I have made payments on the card. I had a late payment once and they raised my interest rate to over 20% and doubled my minimum payment. I got calls 20 times a day from a number (identified on-line as WAMU) with no message left and no way to return the calls. I called the numbers that came through and no one answered. This went on for a month, and then I got a statement telling me I had until a certain date to pay a certain amount. I called customer service and was put into a voice mail tree that asked me to verify that I could send the payment. I did and I sent more than the payment, but had to stop payment on the check as I had a car repair and had no other money for a week to use.
Next thing I know WM is sending me a letter telling me they have closed my account, and 2 days later a collection agency in Minnesota sends me a letter requesting over $1,900 in immediate payment. I cannot pay this and I am in shock that a company would close an account over one late payment, raise the % to over 30, and run the balance up to almost $500 more than was due on the last statement. I see that this organization (WAMU) is running a scam on customers. I will not deal with these people.

I have recently had a few unfortunate circumstances which have caused me some financial hardship. I have been dealing with their fees knowing I am having difficulty. On Nov. 7, 2007 I acquired a small loan to help me get current with my bank account and bills. Wanting the money to deposit into my account as quickly as possible, I deposited the check from the lending agent through an ATM machine. Then I sent in my car payment. I had no idea until 5 days later when I received a notice in the mail that instead of depositing the check in my overdrawn account, Washington Mutual had put a hold on it. This caused checks I had written to other businesses, including my car payment, to be returned with a fine at both Washington Mutual and the other places the checks were returned from. When I called the bank to inquire about the hold, I was told that because the deposit went through an ATM there is no person in the entire hierarchy of Washington Mutual Bank who can lift the hold. I am now late for paying my rent as well. By putting a hold on the check that was supposed to bring me current, WAMU has caused me to fall further behind while they are collecting more fees. No one at Washington Mutual will listen to me.
This has cost me $300.00 and problems with at least 4 other creditors.

Over the past year, I've been banking with Chase bank, with a workplace checking account. Every time I've written a regular check, regardless of who or what company, it has consistently taken 5-7 business days for those checks to clear my account...until now. In October, I handed my Landlord a check for the rent on the 10th, and it didn't post to my account until the 16th. This month, I handed my landlord my rent check on the 12th, after 5:30 p.m.; he had to deposit it the next day. Interestingly this time, the check somehow manages to clear in less than 24 hours, and somehow posts to my account on the 14th. The problem with this is the fact that I checked my account on the 14th, after I got out of work, to find that at that point the check hadn't been posted to my online account activity view. Due to this, I made the decision to use some of the reserved funds, which caused 4 insufficient fund fees to be posted to my account.
Only if you go low do they hit you with surprises like this which means they intentionally target your account for insufficient fund fees. There have also been several instances of my having made a deposit, to have charges that were made the day after cause overdrafts. At one point it was taking Chase almost 3-4 days to clear my payroll check deposits, not to mention cash deposits and others; the money should be available the same day. About half the time this caused overdraft fees which conveniently ate up almost any money I'd deposited.
Due to this I am now $140 short this month. Add this in to the $70 which was caused by an automatic billing from a company that wasn't supposed to bill me anymore. Chase refused to return the $70 in IFF charges, even though I had had the company in question write me a check for the amount that they had billed me, to prove my case. I was told they're only allowed to take 2 IFF charges off of an account EVER, and are only allowed to do one per 12 month period.

Saundra's response was, "Why don't you just cancel your account with Washington Mutual and open a joint account with B of A or Nevada State?"
Washington Mutual must think that just because they offer free checking, they don't need to offer good service. If this is an example of Washington Mutuals customer service, then is this a reasonable trade off for good, professional and sound banking service? I suggest it's time for those that care to tell Washington Mutual what they think.

A few days before this happened he checked online to his WaMu account but was blocked from entering and told to call the 800-number. They did not tell him his checking was at zero balance or warn that he should transfer money from his savings (that would be looking out for the customer). He only was assured that a new password would be sent via email so he can view his account. That password was never received. They keep calling my home, and although I have spoken to several reps and even their fraud department explaining I had no knowledge of this--the debt has now hit my credit in the amount of approximately $9,500.00.
I have spent several hours on the phone being harrassed, and my credit has been damaged. Emotionally, I have the unjust stress that I deal with daily until this issue gets resolved.

I have a Washington Mutual check account. I have been trying to set up ACH transitions between it with another bank. I placed the ACH on 9/25 via its online banking. Its online system took it but did not do anything further. I checked again on 9/28; WaMu had not made the transaction still. And, my ACH request was sitting there. I then issued cancellation to that request online again. Its system "took". Then, it did execute the ACH for the original request that night, resulting in my ACH return. It totally ignored my cancellation. I then was penalized by WaMu and my other bank. I called their call center (1-800-788-7000) on Ocotber 9 a.m.. Its CSR insists that I have to pay the $30 penalty. I told her that WaMu did not follow my request for the cancellation. She said that I have to pay the penalty. Then, I talked to her manager Chris. The manager told me that WaMu won't do ACH the same date you place the request. It will take 2 or 4 or more days. I told her my other bank did my request on the same date. Why cannot Wamu do the same as other banks? She said that is the "WaMu way" (for taking more than 2, or generally, 4 days). She insisted I need to pay for the penalty. That leaves me with no option but to stop banking with WaMu. Simply I do not have money to waste when WaMu does not follow my request in handling my money.
They ask me to pay the $30 penalty; and a letter from Wamu threatens to reflect this on my credit report.

I have an account with Washington Mutual Bank and I opened my banking account online. The online banking offers direct deposit, but you can see your transaction history through the internet, as well as have the option to receive paper statements. WAMU charged me overdraft fees in the amounts of $29-$32 for charges that appeared on my online transaction history a day late. My account would have a positive balance on one day, and then the next day, I would see a charge that would make my account negative and the corresponding overdraft-fee charge. The charge would be dated for a previous day such as 10/01/2007, but on 10/01/2007 my account was positive, and the charge is posted the next day on 10/02/2007 with the corresponding overdraft-fee charge. I contacted WAMU many times regarding the way they post transactions. The mere fact that I can see my transaction history online helped me to identify how Washington Mutual charges overdraft-fees. They mark certain transactions as being on a particular day without notifying you of the charge until the next day, when it's too late and you have to the suffer the overdraft fees. WAMU's policy is that they will refund overdraft fees if you deposit money into your account (to make it positive) on the same day the negative transaction occurred. They get around their refund-policy by posting the dates for electronic transactions a day earlier without notifying you, so that the next day, you will have to pay the overdraft fee. The part that is not fair, is that you can call customer service on the phone (to check/monitor your account) and online/telephone bankers also do not see the transactions until you see the charges yourself on your online account history. So, calling the customer service line is no different than signing into your account online to inquire about your transaction history. WAMU cannot justify their dishonesty regarding this matter.
I have lost hundreds of dollars in fees because of the dishonest way WAMU posts transactions.

In July I signed up for AutoPay with WaMu to have my mortgage payments debited automatically from my checking account. I misunderstood when the autopay would start and the 7/07 payment never was debited, I overnighted the payment and it took them 2 weeks to post it. Then it was August and the payment was not debitted. I got a phone call from WaMu and authorized a debit for the 8/07 payment explaining about the autopay. The person on the phone wanted me preauthorize the September payment, and I said I was afraid to because of the autopay. She said there was nothing in the system for it so I preauthorized a September payment. The August authorized payment went thru. Then the 9/07 autopay went through, and then the preauthorized payment went through. Now my account is overdrawn (dramatically). I called, and it seemed all taken care of: they reverse the payment and eat $76.00 in overdraft fees. This all ocured from 9/16/07 to 9/21/07. On 9/24/07 WaMu redeposited the preauthorized 9/07 payment. Now I am overdrawn out of control and have over $400.00 in overdraft fees. I could not reach anyone at WaMu over the week end to resolve this and my bank said their hands are tied. They couldn't do anything. I got through to WaMu this AM and they say it isn't showing and fax them the print out from my bank. I have not received any response.
The first time I had drive home on empty and borrow money from my 87-year-old Aunt who lives with us. This time I can get home from work (I commute 70 miles each way) but don't know how I'll get to work in the AM. I can't pay my bills, buy groceries, get oil delivered to heat the house. My husband has kidney failure, is on dialysis, waiting for a kidney transplant, and I can't buy his medication. If I am not reimbursed the overdraft fees, I will not be able to pay my mortgage this month.

This is the first time i have done anything like this, but I am at the end of my rope. My complaint is about Washington Mutual who holds our home loan. We have been in our house for 9 years now, and when we first moved in we were fine, had good credit and lived comfortably. We refinanced in order to do some home improvement and we were taken advantage of. Our payment went up $250, and we were told it would go down. So we refinanced again, and the company WAMU. We got into an ARM loan, and now we are paying. We tried to work with WAMU, but they refused because we had gotten behind on payments. about a month behind. We had to resort to living off of credit cards to get by, before we knew it we were deep in debt. Again we tried to work with WAMU and they were completely non-understanding and rude. We tired all we could to catch up and never could. Eventually we had to file bankruptcy. We were told by our lawyer that WAMU would let us re-affirm if we wanted to and we could keep them out of the bankruptcy. So we did that, and NOT once did WAMU contact our lawyer about anything. After our bankruptcy was finalized we tried to contact WAMU, and again and again they have treated us like dead beats. We aren't asking that they take away our payments. We asked for some help to pay the late fees owed and catch up the one month we are behind. The girl in the loss and litigation dept.tells us that they would negotiate our late fees, and then the next guy says NOPE. They have even told us we should be able to make the payments because we should have more money now since we filed bankruptcy. We have caught them in flat out lies on the phone. Now they almost laughingly scold us on the phone when we call, and they tell us that they may not help us at all. It's disgusting how we are treated. We work hard for what little we have and are trying to stay out of foreclosure, but they are making it impossible.
We have had to file bankruptcy and now although only one month behind are facing threats of forecolosure. We send in our payment on time well ahead of the due date and they still post it late, even when we paid by phone. They said this is becasue we are a month behind, and we are lucky to have our house. We tried to pay by phone again recently and they refused..so we mailed it and they accepted it...late.

We have had many problems with our checking acct. with Washington Mutual over the 5years we have had it. This time, we are done with them. I deposited 3 separate local checks into the ATM at our branch. I have done this many, many times. However, I could not withdraw any cash. I waited over the weekend, thinking it was because it was a Friday and it had to be ledgered.
When I tried again Monday, I still could not withdraw any funds. I called the bank and was told that becuase we deposited them into the ATM, there would be a hold. I deposited them on the 10th - but they money would not be available until the 21st. This has never happend before, so naturally I am mad. My husband goes to the branch to dicuss the same matter, and they say they can't do anything to help him. Now, in the past we had taken checks into the bank to deposit them and they were also held. They informed us that if we had put them into the ATM we could have gotten our cash immediately. WHAT A CROCK.
Meanwhile, I had written checks to pay bills, and they have all been returned and we are being charged $27 for each returned check - 9 total to date. Now, one of the checks is a payroll check for my husband, from the Pleasanton Police Department. They put that on hold, their very own PD. The second check we also a local company paycheck. The third was also a local company personal check. Totally ridiculous to hold these checks for two weeks.

When first dealing with customer service they advised me to deal with the specific branch's manager. I told him that I was issued a receipt after the deposit was made but he insisted that wasn't enough proof. He later advised me that an investigation would me made and would later contact me with the results. He also mentioned that it would take at least five business days. Miraculously he called me within less than 24 hours telling me that the error was made on our part regardless of receiving the receipt. I asked to speak to the investigator and Mack said that he did it himself. Doesn't that seem biased to you???
He later mentioned something that it could've been the teller's fault. Regardless of who's fault it is, they need to honor the receipt.

Washington Mutual has threatened foreclosure on my home 5 times in the last three years! Each time they claim payments have not been made and I get a letter with ridiculous amounts due in order to cure the default. Each time I have had to prove their records are incorrect. In order to do this I have to take days off of work and spend HOURS on the phone, being switched back and forth between departments and each time I'm transferred I have to start over explaining the past three years experiences to phone operators who act like they could care less.
Every now and then, I get a person who seems willing to help, but then there is no follow through. When I follow up, there is no record of the conversations I have had with them previously. No one has an extension number that I can use to reach them again. Each time it takes at least two months of my life to get resolution, during which time I am pushed to my limits by the stress. Each time they have researched their records and found they were incorrect, and all charges are dismissed. A few months go by, and then they hit me again.
I am at this moment going yet another round with them. Today I took off work and spent 3 hours on the phone talking to 11 different people, none of which had access to the records which show my account as current. At this point, I have faxed documents to them showing the results of their last incorrect claim (6 months ago) and copies of their statements showing the payments I have made since then. Being just out of Ch 13 bankruptcy, I cannot qualify for a new mortgage with a decent interest rate. I am currently trying to sell our home just to get away from Washington Mutual's incompetence and life-disrupting antics.

This was a horrible thing to happen. I have had nothing but bad experiences with them. The customer service reps are extremely rude. I even had a so called supervisor by the name of Miss Garcia practically threaten to put false information on my account after I told her she was not helpful and I wanted to deal with someone else. After they took over, my interest rate was raised to 29%. After about a year, I called to request a lower rate and was told that a lower rate was not available. Impossible! My rate was raised in the first place because according to them I had too much credit. I wish something could be done about them. They shouldn't be allowed to get away with this. If you ask me it's a form of theft.

This loan was provided by Washington Mutual. We spoke to Washington Mutual on many occasions trying to clear up this dilema. They are unwilling to help or investigate this situation. They claim they cannot look up any such accounts unless the actual loanee asks for it. Washington Mutual suggested we contact ITC title company, and ITC says to contact Washington Mutual. The sheriff will not do anything without an account number, which we don't have. We feel there has been some fraud in which our home was used as collateral. Back in March we started to refinance our home. Nathan the loan agent dragged his feet to do everything. I was calling every week to get things going and he never got back to me. Not until I started threatening to go with another company did Nathan bother to get back to me and get things going. This was now mid May. We continued the process, he said he had to charge me over one point in a half for a 30 yr. fixed rate. I told him the point fee was too high because out interest was not low; however, we wanted to get this going and we took the point fee. I then received the complete package in the mail for my husband and I to sign.
As I reviewed it, I noticed corrections needed to be made. I again called Nathan and as usual he did not call me back. I then decided to call Nathan's supervisor Erik Hester. I told him Nathan was not getting back to me to make these corrections etc. He said he would talk to Nathan and call me back. He never called me back either. I then called Nathan and Erik one last time. The customer service lady told me Erik would be in at 2 pm and she would give him the message to call me. I called ant 4 pm and he was gone. I then asked for Erik's managers name and phone so I can call him to inform him of what had happened. After I was given that information, I got a phone call from Nathan indicating to me that Washington Mutual could not offer me a 30 yr fixed rate, I had to take an adjustable.
I didn't know what he was talking about because my initial call was not about the interest rate, it was about corrections needed on the final documents waiting to be signed. I then told him that I would not take an adjustable rate, and that I was still going to file a complaint againt him and the service I got. I have now contacted the main manager in Chicago and I will consult an attorney to see if I have any other options.
My consequences will be that I have not been able to refinance on time before my current loan expires and our home payment will be based on the current adjustable rate. I, may lose my house it I can't make these payments!

The house is in need of lots of work so potential buyers were turned off. Washington Mutual is charging us $630.10 for this driveby inspection. Nobody from this outfit stepped foot in this house to inspect it and they are charging us that exhorbitant amount for someone to inspect from the street?
Tomorrow, March 29, 2006, is the sheriff's sale because they refused to accept the buyer's offer of $294,900. Washington Mutual wanted the co-brokers to come down on their commissions but refused to adjust their own fees. Their other fees are: $3,379.50 for attorney costs; $1,250.00 for attorney fees; $5,159.84 for sheriff's commission. Why should someone get paid $630.10 for inspecting this house when they never even came inside? Julie in Loss Mitigation is one of the nastiest people I have dealt with. As a result of the mergers and acquisitions in the finance industry in the late '90s early '00s, I ended up with existing mortgages for both my home and rental property being taken over by Homeside, then by Washington Mutual Home Loans. When they changed over the existing loan numbers to their numbering system, a year later when they changed their own numbering system due to their database software upgrades, when they first implemented "ACH Drafting automatic draft service"; all these would end up with me getting a delinquent loan payment threat letter for one property mortgage or the other.
Each time the onus was on me to contact customer care, so I would have their record of me paying them as well as my bank statement. Armed with these, then I would have to fight with the Credit Dispute and various other departments to get the threat letters stopped and the late fees removed. None of this guaranteed that the “credit delinquency” was removed from all three credit report agencies.
I enrolled in Washington Mutuals ACH Drafting when they launched it thinking there would be less chance of them screwing it up. Four months into it, I’m on the phone with WashMut Customer Care who are telling me this month is late and I’m not even enrolled in ACH. Had to jump through all the same hoops again to get the late fees dropped.
I went back to paper checks and when they contacted me to ask why I wanted to cease enrollment in their ACH Draft service I told them I thought they were too stupid to operate it. I thought WashMut was just maliciously trying to rack up as many late fees as they could but I became convinced after a while that they were really just incompetent.
WashMut contacted me end of ‘03 to solicit my enrollment in ACH again with assurances the bugs were out of their program/process, but the same thing happened again.

I took out a home equiline loan from Washington Mutual. I was told that in addition to using checks, I could use a VISA card that worked like a debit card. No mention was made of any fees for using the card at this time, or at any time I worked with a sales person. However, when I used the card at my primary back to get a cashiers check the boat vender requested for a purchase of a boat, I was charge a 2% fee.
Now that doesn't sound like much, but it was $160 on $8,000, plus interest the expected interest. I called customer service to ask about this fee, when no fee was mentioned to me when I got the loan, and the card was referred to being like a debit card. Debit cards don't have fees, they are like writting checks. The first customer service person, said that was a VISA fee and she could not help me. I asked for a superviser and talked to Stacy. She again said she couldn't do anything about this fee. I said the fee was on the Washington Mutual Bill, so of course they could do something about it. She said no they couldn't do anything and the fee was in the paperwork.
I said I am sure it was, but I didn't read all the millions of words that was involved in the 100 plus pages of the paperwork. This type of fee should be mentioned by the sales person, otherwise it is just in the small print and deceptive to the consumer. Or the sales person should never refer to the card as debit, only as a credit card charged to the loan. Credit cards generally charge a fee, either to the merchant, or to the consumer, depending upon how it is used.

Although my rent check is being debited from my account on the 28th of each month and my rent isn't due until the 5th of the following month, my rent is consistently showing up late.
When the rent is overdue past the 5th of the month, my landlord charges me $100 late fee. The worst instance was when it showed up 3 weeks late (November 16th). During those weeks where my rent check was lost in transition between the bank and my landlord, my landlord instisted that I write her another check - this time for Rent + $100 late fee. I did as she requested. I then called the bank and said "I trusted you with my finances and you have cost me $100. I want to be reembursed for the $100 error you've caused me and I want a Stop Payment placed on the late/missing check."
The Customer Service Representative (CSR) that I spoke with (unfortunately I don't have her name) said to me "It's too hard for us to cancel the check once it leaves your account. Just wait until it arrives and tell your landlord to apply it to your next month's rent instead." I was then told that I'd be refunded the $100, thanked the CSR, and hung up.
The following month, after asking my landlord to apply the 3-week-late check to my rent, I was told by her that it was returned marked "STOP PAYMENT." I was furious. It turns out that after telling me to "go ahead and use the late check next month" for my rent, Washington Mutual went ahead and processed a Stop Payment on it. This caused me to pay my landlord with a voided check and - therefore - my rent was again late and I've been charged another $100 late fee.
When I contacted Washington Mutual again to find out what happened, Supervisor Jose informed me that, because they have no official record that the first CSR I spoke with informed me to use the late check as my next rent check, there was nothing they could do and that I was simply out of options.

Washington Mutual (WAMU) took over my loan from Great Western Bank some years ago, that I initiated in July of 1979. There were occasional problems but the real incompetence did not emerge until I attempted to obtain insurance coverage on my now-vacant property so I could begin rehabilitation. Previously WAMU had forced me to initiate an escrow account to cover property insurance on this address.
When I first contacted WAMU to inform them that I had obtained my new coverage on my own and that the property is now vacant, the individual I spoke with assured me that WAMU would pay my insurance company with the funds set aside for that purpose. Foolishly, I believed that story. Needless to say, they failed in their promise. The second call went very much like the first with considerably more rancor on my part, but the result was the same.
The third call resulted in yet another promise to send payment and now involved my agent directly, through a faxed billing for the premium WAMU had previously collected for that very purpose. The fourth call was very contentious and not at all pleasant. WAMU employees continue to insist on doing things in their own timeframe despite the major disruptions they have occasioned in my life due to their entrenched and epidemic lack of competence and their abysmal ignorance of the concept of customer service and business ethics.
To this day, they hold my money extracted from my hide for the purpose of paying for insurance coverage and steadfastly refuse to pay for te coverage I have arranged.

I have a Home Equity loan. Starting in September 2005 I began calling Washington Mutual to try to obtain information on what my options were if I was not able to continue making payments. I wanted to see if I could get my payments reduced. Since February 2005 I had been paying all the bills myself because of divorce. I knew I was not going to be able to continue this and wanted to find out what my options were. The house had been on the market since June 1st without any movement.
If I was not cut off by their telephone system, I was repeatedly told that until I was at least 45 days late the collections department would not talk with me. So I didn't make my October payment. I waited until the end of October and tried to get through again and was unsuccessful. I now have an offer on the house and can not move forward until I can get an answer from Washington Mutual regarding a short sale. I am extremely concerned and do not want to lose this sale. I believe I am going to be between $7500 to $8000 short.
The only thing I have been told is that I have to pay this or I will go into collections and they will not release the lein on the property until they are paid. This means I can not sell the house. This not only leaves me in dire straights it also leaves the first mortgage company, which happens to also be Washington Mutual, at risk of having to proceed with foreclosure. All I need is to be able to discuss this with the correct area so I can try to get all this resolved with as little impact to my credit rating as possible.
I have tried to be up front and honest and get ahead of all this but I have just been beating my head against a brick wall. It is really a sad statement to say that if I neglected my obligations then I would be able to get answers.

We had a home loan and an equity loan with Wamu.We refinanced and they were paid off everything including the $500 cancellation fee. Almost a year later we go for a home loan to purchase a property and we find out that they never closed out our account and are saying we owe tham a $500 pre-payment fee and are charging us interest every month we don't pay it and it is reflecting negatively on our credit report.
We have proof we paid them everything and they are doing nothing about it. We have reported it to the Attorney Generals office but they say there is only so much they can do if Wamu doesn't respond. It has been really bad for us and we don't have the money it would take to hire an Attorney.

I am a full time mom and recently admitted to grad school at CSUEB. In order to pay for the expenses of Grad School, I applied for and received a student loan. Ironically I asked for Washington Mutual to be my lender. I deposited my student loan check into my Washinton Mutual account on Saturday Oct 22nd using the banks ATM machine in Castro Valley CA.
Based on my knowledge of the banks rules and regulations, I believed that my funds would be available on Tuesday October 25th. When the funds were not available on Wednesday Oct 26, I called the Customer service to find out when the funds would be available. I was told Friday, Oct 28th. Since the check I deposited was a student loan and issued by the state controllers office, I felt that the funds should be released immediately.
The bank refused and insisted that thier loss detection department beleived my deposit to be fraudulent. I explained repeatedly that my deposit did not meet the requirements for a longer hold than one business day based on my account disclosure, FDIC regulations regarding government checks and the Expidited Funds Availability Act. As of Friday Oct 28th, my funds are still not available for me to withdraw and the notice from the bank regarding the hold arrived in my mail box today. Although, the letter was dated the 25th, it wasn't postmarked until the 26th.
I feel Washington Mutual has treated us unfairly and has been deceptive to their account holders.

My loan was with Homeside Lending in Florida when it was bought by WAMU. The only way I knew this had occured was I happened to be working there at the time. They changed the mailing address numerous times with no previous notice, I went for over one year with no coupons or statements with which to send in my payment, and at one point, while working there, I was told that I could now send my payment into the servicing department in our overnight work and it would be posted the next day.
The servicing department lost it! They were going to charge me a late fee until I explained what had happened. After I left Washington Mutual, the mailing address changes continued so I would just take my payment to a local branch once they could finally process them. The final straw was when my mother took a payment up to me and was informed that the payment had been increased by $40+ dollars. They had violated numerous deed restrictions, but after talking to old friends at FNMA (where I used to work and who owns the paper) and the Assistant Attorney General of Texas (who agreed that they were in the wrong) I was convenced that there was no way I could take them on. But believe me, if I had broken any of the deed restrictions, they would be calling my note!

The assistant manager credited my acct for the $500.00, then took $500.00 from my acct.a month later because the m.o wasnt found by the bank.
Chase Bank is responsible for my money that I deposited through their teller-I have the deposit slip and copies of the m.o's and tax return check. I want my $500.00 back. They are liable. They went into my acct. without my permission and took out money to cover the lost money order that was in the Bank's possession. That was my auto insurance down payment!

I had a savings and checking account with WAMU for over 9 years. I recently had checks stolen from my locked vehicle. I reported it to them and the police. Lately some checks had started to come in (the stolen ones) and it made me overdrawn. They said they would look in to it. I was not going to pay the charges that accrued. I had my $5 in there to keep the account open until my next paycheck.
Needless to say, I went to use my savings account to deposit a small amount and use the rest to pay bills and found out that they closed my accounts. The teller told me that because what was going on with my account was so much of a hassle that they decided to close them. So, needless to say they are putting me on checksystem and everything. I guess it is fitting that since they stole from me, the bank ended up getting robbed yesterday. (NO, it was not me)

Furthermore, they charged me 23 dollars a lot of times , in total: $275 due to insufficient funds, but they hadn't explained to me clearly the BIG difference between depositing the money to the automatic machine, to going inside the bank.

On September 9, 2005 We deposited into our account $480.00 dollars cash. This was done thru the ATM. On the following week we received a letter from the bank advising us that we keyed the wrong amount and that they had only received $180.00 dollars. I immediately called the 800 number and was advised that they would have to do a research to see if the bank had made the mistake.
I was advised by Steve that this is not the first time they have delt with this kind of situation. He advised me that I should call Tuesday to check if they had any results. I called again and was advised that it would be better to walk into the bank where we had deposited the money. We went to the bank on Sat. Sept. 17, 2005. We spoke to a Cynthia who then referred us to Ruth. Ruth explained to us that she would ask for a vector request and put a rush on it to see what happened to the money. She made a copy of the letter I had received and said she would take care of it.
I've been going back and forth speaking to different people, I'm very frustrated and tired of this situation. Today is September 26, 2005 and to this date I'm am still waiting on the vector request that was suppose to take 3 to 5 days. It's not possible that we can't even deposit any amount of money into "our accounts" because somebody will steal the money.

Nothing was ever done, Washington Mutual did not even ask me for my past two pay stubs or my W2, the service was provided to me was unacceptable, what I do know is that Washington Mutual should have contacted my current mortgage company or ask me to provide the information to them which they did not do, also I still have not received a copy of my appraisal report which I paid money for, I have asked questions, and no one wants to answer.

I had a loan with Washington Mutual (loan 1). I also had a home equity loan (loan 2)with Washington Mutual. To take advantage of the low interest rates, I refiananced with Washington Mutual. I consolidated both loans. Loan 2 had a penalty for early termination (before 3 years of having the loan). The bank reps told me that since I was in Georgia that this clause was not legal, so, I consolidated both and ending loan 2, seven months earlier than the 3 years. I was penalized $500.00. I have sent letters to them stating that I was given incorrect information causing my actions. I have been ignored.

I did this until I recieved a letter saying I had late fees. When I asked the reason for the late fees I was told payment was not received, when I said that was not so because I am ahead with my payments I was told my account is not set up for split payments which no one told me until I brought it to their attention. My problem is why did someone not contact me when the first split payment was received and where did the late fee come from? Adjustments were made but now my interest has gone up and so has my balance.
