We’ve been with Sylvan for four months now. My son is seven years old and they focus on Reading. They help him with understanding questions. Going to Sylvan has been beneficial for my child.

We've used Sylvan for summer programs and right now, Sylvan is focusing on Math, fractions and quotients for fifth and sixth grade levels for Rachel. She loves it and the teachers. It seems like they're very caring and I appreciate that. I love the constant information and communication.

My son wasn't getting what he needed from the teacher. The teachers thought he understood it after one problem, but he said, "No, that's not correct." I set up a meeting with a Sylvan Learning tutor, and he was very pleased with her. He said that they seemed to be on the same page. He was very excited when he left there that he liked her, and he understood the Math fully when we left. We just used Sylvan that one time. My son is starting a different school this year. I will contact Sylvan and ask for that tutor if he needs it in the future.

We had our daughter doing in-school activities such as luncheons after school with the school she was attending. It was called the Homework Club, and Sylvan Learning was able to bridge the gap between missed learning milestones that were skipped over during the COVID, essentially, an out-of-school period for my daughter. Sylvan was the one that my niece used, and my wife used it as well. She attended the same location when she was a child. We had great feedback when we asked around what would be the worthwhile place to invest our resources. It was very clear Sylvan was the best option out of the available ones, from what I could tell from feedback from friends, and we've had essentially the same experience.
We really love Sylvan. We typically prepay for 10 hours at a time for a block of time to get a discounted rate, and my daughter's tutoring sessions are 90% reading and 10% math. It's almost entirely focused on the reading program, which encompasses spelling, writing, etc. There are only certain milestones they can do, but my daughter has done incredibly well with her Sylvan progress.
The reps have been super great too. There was a misunderstanding of rescheduling versus excusing classes we'd already paid for, which is just understanding how the program works better. They've been willing to reschedule, which is helpful in the progress in reaching milestones, and my daughter loves it, which is the key part. However, the location my daughter goes to is only open on certain days. They're not open on Fridays or Sundays, and they have a limited availability Monday through Thursday and Saturday. Having to start it on the hour or on the half-hour, the scheduling availability and the days open, those are the only limitations that we've run into with Sylvan in working with our schedule and getting our child in there as much as, if not more than, we'd like.
Sylvan Learning has been amazing for us and we really appreciate it. It was so good. We did all year last year, twice a week, two hours per session for a full year for my daughter, then she asked to be reenrolled one day a week, one hour per session this year to help make sure she didn't lose progress over the summer. That says to me not only did it engage her, but she made the choice to have additional learning through Sylvan over the summer that was not required or expected of her. I couldn't ask for any more. I will absolutely go back there and I'll be bringing my other daughter there late this summer to help her get ready for her fourth-grade prep.

It was a great experience for me, and the director was really nice. My son is in kindergarten and he picked up from the tutoring pretty well. He was a little playful and hyper whenever he would go to Sylvan. It was expensive, but considering that my son goes once a week, it was reasonable. Overall, it was good.

Then we found out that our child was pretty delayed and I really wanted something more professional. Unfortunately, there was not anything in our area. Then I remembered the Sylvan Learning center that used to be in Odessa. I looked them up and I noticed there was one in Midland. And so, we drive it twice a week, and I love it.
We're still fairly new, but usually when we walk in, it's super professional. There's not a ton of snack time or any of that. They do say, ""Hey, how are you?"" They check in with my daughter and then it's right to business. And she's got a pretty good rapport with one of the tutors there.
We noticed that she really needed help with reading comprehension, and she's pretty low in her reading. But since then, because we know we need to work on that, she's moved up a reading level just recently. And her comprehension seems to be a little bit better. Unfortunately, she's kind of been passed through the grades. So she'll be a sophomore this year and she's pretty behind in reading. Anyway, I'm glad we have them.

Our experience with Sylvan has always been great every time I take my kid up there and I don’t have bad vibes. They’re helping him with Reading. He has different tutors each time and they have him read and I see he writes sometimes. He says he likes attending Sylvan. It’s a great program.

My child was using Kumon before and after a referral, we decided to use Sylvan. Since she started with them, she has improved. She scored higher on her last test, which was the whole goal. Everything's good but we have Sylvan on pause right now until the beginning of next month.

We've been going to Sylvan for a few months now, and so far, the communication's been great. It’s been definitely a positive experience since joining. Just within the last few months, I've noticed a lot with my son. They help him in reading and he really likes attending Sylvan. I like that I get calls from them and we have meetings. They show the assessment scores from the last few tests. Then they compare it to the current one and break it all down.

Sylvan Learning has been super helpful with our kiddo, and now, we’ve seen positive impacts from it. Sylvan is what’s available in our area, and the enrollment was quick and easy. They just made things simple.
The tutor is focusing on writing and reading, assisting with basic skills and building confidence. My child likes and enjoys it. She's having fun. I’ve recommended Sylvan Learning to other people.

My daughter has been behind in Math for many years now. I was trying to help her get caught up with her grade level. I enrolled her at Sylvan Learning. She was feeling a little bit more confident. She likes going over there and she also has some lessons online. The tutors are fine. My daughter had an issue with one of them just not understanding because of the accent, but I don't think that's a problem. They're still knowledgeable and they still were helping her. The only thing is when I went to take my daughter and I went to the restroom, it wasn't very presentable.

Our daughter has been in Sylvan for reading and math and it was to close any skill gaps. She was in the third grade for the past year. We wanted to make sure that we closed any gaps sooner rather than later. The private tutor that we use is online, and it's great in some ways, but it also has its limitations. So, we thought it would be best, especially for math, that she has someone one-on-one and in person. We go to the Sparta Sylvan facility. She needed in-person tutoring as well.
We've seen improvements with our daughter within the first month. Since she was going for reading and math, it took a little while to get up to her 25-session assessment. We were focusing a little bit more on reading for about the first five months. She took her reading assessment in May and she just took her math assessment at the end of June and she moved up an entire grade level in both. That made me feel like I was doing the right thing with the one-on-one attention versus group settings in some other types of tutoring place. The after school help was a group setting where it really wasn't focused on her specific skills gaps. So, I felt we brought her to the right place.
Also, the tutors at Sylvan are all so caring and patient and it is a happy environment for her to be in where she can learn as much as she can. The tutors are very professional. They're very caring and patient. It's not just a matter of pushing paper around or getting to the next lesson. It's more about checking if my daughter really understands and do they need to take a step back or keep going.

My 7-year-old daughter absolutely loves to attend this center. I am so happy and pride how much she learned and progressed on reading and writing. This center motivates the students can earn extra tokens on special days or through special activities. Personally, I love this center. They are texting and reminding for the next session and having meeting with family monthly to report the progress. I will keep my daughter in this center until she graduates from the high school. I trust them so much.

My grandson needed some support and I had gotten good recommendations for Sylvan from people that I trusted. After they did the assessment, they determined that he needed more support in math and reading, which I was concerned about because of the spring testing results from the school. They also determined that he needed more support in math. Sylvan is a wonderful option for children. The instructors are very patient and they are highly qualified teachers that they have in place. So that makes a positive difference for me.

After the fact, I found out my son did not have a good experience with Sylvan tutors/organization. All the while I thought he was getting help and learning how to solve equations, he was not. He pretty much sat there staring at the page wondering how to do the problem that stared back at him. There were three students to a table and Ethan opened his book. He may have been shown the first problem and understood that but as he began to continue and get stuck he scribbled and sat there with a blank in his face.
It was clear he was behind with their evaluations prior to me signing up. I thought he would be getting one on one individual attention. When he would ask for help, she told him to figure it out. I wasn’t paying for someone to tell him to figure it out. I just can't believe I got scammed into paying so much for nothing. I was desperate to get him the HELP he needs. I was better off hiring a math teacher that I work with who makes $60 an hour. I'm sure I would've paid less and gotten much more. He still suffers in math after the 7 months two to three times a week and over $5,000 paid. Not worth it at all!

My husband and I actually used Sylvan when we were in school a long time ago. So, we just naturally went back.
It's been about three months. My child is focusing on reading. I've seen some improvement. She still has a way to go, but definitely, I've seen more of a willingness to read.
I've talked with the supervisor a couple of times. And I have little to no interaction with the tutors, only the initial testing with the person giving the testing.

I inherited two grandsons so I have to raise them. My husband and I are too old to be going through all the school curriculum with them again. My younger son said that his son was struggling in reading and he referred us to Eddie at Sylvan. They've been very courteous. Sometimes we can't make it and they give us all the other alternatives rather than for them to just miss it. So I love the place. They always discuss everything that they worked on with the child. It's like teaching my children things in a different way if they don't comprehend it from what the teacher is teaching them. Sylvan is able to take that same math problem and turn it around where my son can comprehend it.
My oldest one has improved in math, a good 75%. We have him enrolled in the summer school program there as well. For anybody whose child is having problems with reading, comprehension, or math, I would definitely refer Sylvan. It's not cheap so stay with the kids and make sure the money you're paying is working for you.

I chose Sylvan because of the location. My child has been focusing on reading for three months because her school said that she needs help. Everything that I’ve had from Sylvan, they’re saying that she’s doing just fine. I haven’t had an actual test to show me any differences, but she seems to like it.
The tutor just recently assumed the job, so she’s still getting her bearings. When we first enrolled, the customer service had definitely a willingness to help. The professionalism is there, but it took a bit of time and a little bit of back and forth because she was still learning how to do it. Overall, Sylvan has been good.

Their customer service is phenomenal. It’s worth the money and time to have the kids there.

The center in Palmyra has been really respectful. They assessed my son and guided me through the process. They sat with me twice, explained everything and answered questions. It's been great. The school offered tutoring, but it wasn't helping my son with the targeted instruction that he needed. With Sylvan, we've seen some differences in his report card. He felt a little more confident. He was in for writing, like text-dependent analysis. That hasn't changed much yet, but his focus improves in school. He started submitting his work on time, which has always been a little hard for him.
My son always comes out happy. He goes in and sits with them for an hour, then tells me what they're doing, either verbs or pronouns, and he gets five minutes of playtime. He made some friends. He also drew something for the director, so he must have liked her.
We haven't completed the suggested time, so hopefully, we'll be back in September to continue. It's expensive, but in comparison to other places, it's a little less expensive or Sylvan has some more payment plans. I also used Sylvan Learning for my SAT prep 20 years ago.

My daughter was actually having tutoring done at school four days a week and it was not helping her at all. And a good bit of people told me good things and that their children succeeded in Sylvan. So, we tried it out and we love it. She actually brought her grades up within the first month. She likes it there.

It was convenient to go with Sylvan because they are in my neighborhood. My child is focusing more on reading, and the tutor is fabulous. Since being with them, he has made two grade level advancements. To anyone looking to enroll their child, you have to assess the child. If this is the right program for them, then that is the way to go.
What we found that worked out well is that we were able to have ongoing discussions. And so, when Sylvan found that he needed more support in one area, they were able to adjust his curriculum specific to that. We were able to put 100% of our focus into that space, and so it worked out well for us. My only hesitation is that it is very tablet-based. I wish there was more book learning. But, the beauty of using the tablet is that it allowed it to adjust in real time, and, more importantly, the program has done exactly what I have wanted for my son and we have seen results. So, overall, I am extremely satisfied.

I've known about Sylvan Learning since I was a kid. Signing up with them was fairly straightforward. The facility that we go to is easy to deal with. Everyone’s very friendly, nice. They genuinely care about your children and their learning. They alerted me to switching my daughter's schedule around because she doesn't work well with men, so we've changed her schedule to actually work with just women. I like the fact that they tuned into that.

The Sylvan customer service was excellent. My daughter had several different tutors there and they were great. They go above and beyond to help us. The Sylvan people are so good there. They're more one-on-one with the kids and they actually listen to them, not just the parents.

I was searching for some tutoring programs for my daughter. I reached out to one, but it was about $600. What I didn't like about that program was that the price seemed crazy. Plus, it was online. I want something in person because I'm old school and I believe that children learn more hands-on and face-to-face. When I went to Sylvan, I liked that they help you with the financial thing. You don't have to make payment plans. They don’t take a bunch of money out of pocket every month.
I met with the manager of the place, Elizabeth. The teacher seemed pretty nice. They have really good comments about my daughter. I like that every month, they let me know where she was at and where she is now. It's the progress as well. My daughter likes Sylvan because it's a small group that they work with. She feels like she's learning more and she feels more involved. She likes it because it makes her understand things easily, instead of being in a big group like a classroom.
My daughter stopped liking school before. When she was feeling more positive, she wanted to go to school. She feels like, "Okay, I can understand a little bit more," even though the teacher didn’t explain the way that she understood. I saw her more relaxed through school instead of being more like, "I don't understand, so I don't like it." I recommend Sylvan. Give it a try to see if you like it.

One of our friends in a different state used Sylvan and they recommended them from their daughter using it. We decided to try it out ourselves. My son has IDP, so the school gives him a couple of hours per day. That was the tool we were using, but when we did a parent-teacher conference, we realized that he needed a little bit more so we put him in Sylvan.
I've talked to the director through texts and calls. She's always engaging. I can always can go in to her office and ask her a question. My son said that the teachers are really good and they're attentive. He likes the incentives with the prizes they give him. You get a certain number of points and get a prize off the prize board. That incentive has helped my son tremendously to focus on reading.
I recommended Sylvan to a friend. Her daughter is having some of the same issues. She looked into another program but they didn’t do the hands-on approach like Sylvan. She said she could just teach her daughter at home if that was the case. They just give the children paperwork and expect them to do it. But Sylvan is more hands-on. It costs a little bit more than what she was paying, but it's worth the cost because you're getting that one-on-one.
Try out the program. I like the hourly cost, so you can tailor it to your time and you can have your kids go in there and in a set time. That's how we did it. We pay for a bulk amount of hours and we utilize them when we need to on Saturdays rather than trying to do it through the week because it's harder when the kids are in school. It was helpful to have that versatility.
Sylvan also always has specials at certain times, so we can always build more hours or pay for more hours and use them later. Currently, we're not doing it for the summer because my son is in different things. I told him I'll give him until September. At the parents’ conference if he's going back on that same track, then we're gonna put Sylvan right back in. We already still have some hours there, but we'll build on them. Even the director knows that we're waiting on those sales, so she's gonna reach out and let us know when those sales happen so we can already have those hours in our pocket if we need them.

Other family members have used Sylvan and had really good experiences, so we knew that they could provide the outcome that we were looking for. We have two children in the program. They've only been doing it a couple of months, and they seem to enjoy going. They come home happy. They don't dread going. It's not going to the park, but they don't huff and puff when they go.
I’ve noticed a tremendous difference. We really got to see statistically how much they had grown even in just a couple of weeks. Some of those skills that they were missing on the last round, we got to see statistically how much of an improvement there was in such a short amount of time. It’s fantastic.
We don't really have any direct communication with the teachers that they deal with. Every four weeks or so, we'll have a meeting with them. They've been great in that regard. They'll stop and answer any question and explain anything we've needed. Sylvan is expensive, but it's worth it. It has been a really good experience for the kids. To see how quickly they truly understand their learning patterns was very impressive.

Before enrolling, I looked at a tutor in our area, but my child needed someone to work with who could match his higher learning level. With Sylvan Learning, my experience has been right down the middle. They’re good, but I think they have a lot of students. They gave my son one-on-one attention, and he says that they've helped him, especially when he struggled with certain math problems. I called them up and they changed a couple of his classes to help him.
I do feel they like to go at a slower pace, and I have had to ask them to move along a little quicker so he does not get bored. Teaching is a hard thing because all kids learn at a different rate, and I believe they are doing the best they can. But I was hoping that I wouldn’t have to call to say he needs to be writing and others.

Sylvan Learning was absolutely fantastic. I reached out and on the first call, I had to leave a message and fill out different types of things. The young lady that called me back actually called me on a Saturday, which I was completely shocked about.
And then she got me hooked up with Rhianna, their director. And she has completely bent over to accommodate and help us in any way that she can. So right now, my child is focusing on just reading. And then this summer, in two weeks, he will start with adding math in as well. It's a great place to take your kid. My kid wants to go. He is excited. It’s crazy.

Our son was struggling with reading comprehension in second grade, so we started Sylvan a couple of months ago. I would highly recommend them. It’s a very positive learning environment, and we’ve seen a lot of progress already. Our son enjoys going there. I use their website, and the only thing I would suggest is if they could make it so you could adjust the calendar and make adjustments on the site. That would be great.
