Sylvan has been very good about laying foundational work that my son missed because of the pandemic. I had to do the online approach that Sylvan did because my father lives with us and was very vulnerable with health conditions. The video option was not good for my son because it was his first grade year and he had just gotten out of speech therapy. But Sylvan has been very good at filling back those spaces he missed. They were concerned that he would not be able to get to third grade but he went and he is at above grade level. Dealing with the administrator went wonderfully.
Everything's been good so far in my experience with Sylvan. They answer any questions I have. They're all friendly and helpful, too. My child seems happy and he doesn't complain. It is a little pricey, but it's worth it, to me, if I see improvement in him.
My son is doing reading with Sylvan and it's great. I just had a check in yesterday and he is ahead of schedule. We're going through the process of getting him diagnosed for ADHD, and he's in public school now, so there are lots of distractions and high energy situations. It's been really great to see the small, calm atmosphere prove to be a really helpful tool for him, especially, to do better in that particular subject. I would recommend Sylvan. It's on the higher end of what people can spend and we're fortunate enough to be able to afford that, but I can see how it might not be possible for lots of other people.
Sylvan is focusing on seventh grade math with my son and they've done a great job. He meets with them about three days a week and they help him understand math concepts better, reviewing and talking through the different learning curriculums that he's going through in his current math. My son enjoys it and he thinks that it's been beneficial for him to have a better understanding of the current math he's in at school.
I have two kids with Sylvan and they're both improving and having fan. One looks forward to tutoring and one doesn't. Other than that, the administration has been very helpful and nice.
Sylvan has been great. I've seen a difference in my son's classroom and with focusing on his homework. The sign up process went very well. I had a review time with him. It was an easy process and they explained everything where I could understand. My son loves going to Sylvan. He looks forward to go there. We're focusing more on reading to get him ready for first grade. I will tell a friend to go for Sylvan. I love it. I'm gonna keep my son there until I can afford to, but I'm not planning on taking him out any time soon.
Sylvan is doing English and Math with my daughter. They're focused on English and they said she's okay. They just wanted her above okay. But she’s been doing great with testing. They haven't switched over to math because she'll probably take her summer break and then start up when school starts. I'm very happy that when I've had a few family emergencies and we needed to cancel our Saturday, they've always made sure that she would be able to make her days up during the week. I'm very satisfied.
My daughter was going twice a week for the AC T prep, specifically Math. The tutor helped her be more confident and her score increased. It was a positive experience with Sylvan and it was worth it.
They're focusing on math and reading with my child. They've helped him learn how to read. I like that they make the kids want to learn. They help them want to participate more because they make the activities fun. But I wish that they would be able to do two subjects versus just one at a time.
recorded. The tutors from Sylvan have been helping my children with reading and so far, they have improved. It's only been a little over a month and they've had 10 sessions. The tutoring has been helping with their confidence, because they never fight to go. I also feel like they are improving a little bit at school and their i-Ready scores are coming up. Everybody's very nice and personable at Sylvan. They really seem to care about what they do in helping the kids.
I like how Sylvan keeps me informed and that my child enjoys it. It's worth it. They have very good tutors that really captivate kids and keep their attention.
Our daughter is in an individualized education program, or IP, for speech. She struggled in reading a bit and we wanted to catch her up with her peers, especially after the COVID and craziness of trying to learn during that environment and phase of our lives. Sylvan Learning offers additional services, but reading is the only one that we asked for and that they're helping. My daughter loves going and we've seen an improvement. So, it's a win-win-win. I'd highly recommend Sylvan Learning if that's something someone's child needs or if they want. It's worth every penny.
Our Sylvan experience has been great. It's been extremely helpful for my child. The only thing I would recommend with Sylvan is for them to stop making kids wear masks. I don't know why they're still requiring them to wear masks. My kid is a newer English language learner, and part of learning is looking at people's mouth expression. So, I feel like that branch needs to eliminate that. He is doing language, arts, and math. He started in February. He's definitely improving. I probably need to check in with him and see how much he's improved because I know there's some form of assessment they can give me.
My kid's been happy at Sylvan. It's tutoring. It's not like he's going to Disneyland, but he understands that he needs to learn. We're just trying to get him caught up academically. He's been academically behind. Somehow, he was just passed through by the public school. Then we realized he was really far behind, even though his school said he was doing fine. So, it's been very helpful to have someone kind of fill in all those gaps for us. Sylvan has been very helpful and accommodating.
I have an older son in 4th grade. My little one is 1st grade. They really hate Kumon. Sylvan is more like a kids-friendly environment, and also focused about mainly the reading comprehension. Still, there are many days when they're like, "Mommy, do I have to go there," but I can see, reading comprehension-wise, they're getting more focused to what they're supposed to be. So, we would definitely continue. It's a little costly than other programs, but I will pay for more high-quality tutoring than regular Kumon where you just sit down, drill, and go over and over. Sylvan has more high-quality teachers. It's a better choice.
I wish I had done Sylvan a long time ago. It was a very positive experience. My son looks forward to going to Sylvan. He has a lot more confidence now. He now understands the things that he struggled to understand.
My son needed some help and I was looking at some options, like private tutoring. I wanted to give Sylvan Learning Centers a try and we are very happy with it. The main focus was on reading and all these different learning methods to teach the children how to pronounce words. My son has made very good progress and he's doing very well with the program. And he enjoys it.
My son needed some help with reading comprehension. We did a preliminary test with Sylvan Learning Centers and we already had gone in with what we wanted and they worked with my son through succession. He has improved.
My kids need tutoring in reading and writing. They've been going to Sylvan for almost three months now and so far, Sylvan has been good. I see my kids improve plus, they focus and understand a lot. I recommend it.
Sylvan was closest to us. I did the search on Google and then I looked at the reviews, and I thought it was a good program. Then it was confirmed when we talked to him, it seemed like it would fit us. I asked him to focus on reading. They tested him, and they gave us what they thought his levels were. It's working out well for him. He does tell us a bit. They explain things. They do a little bit of homework help. It is a good experience. I do like that they reach out to me to meet so we could talk about my son's progress.
Sylvan was very flexible and helped do the enrollment via email and things to make it easy. The tutor helped my daughter with homework completion and to explain concepts. Now, my daughter feels more confident, and she's happier and not failing. My interaction with the staff is very limited because of my schedule and typically done via email and on the phone now and then. But it's always been very positive. People should go for Sylvan. It’s worth it.
I liked the way Sylvan presented themselves. They're better for my daughter because she's got a lot of issues. The two that I requested are math and language arts, and that's what they do. She loves going. She likes her teacher.
My child is doing reading and math with Sylvan. She's been going off and on for the last two to three years. Right now, she's in 10th grade. We took a break this summer and when the school year started, she wanted to try and see how she does without it. It was going okay but now that she's gone back, it's better with her grades and understanding. Overall, she loves it. I enjoy Sylvan. Their communication and interaction with the parents when they do the overall review and feedback is awesome.
One particular tutor is excellent. My daughter had several other interactions, and one of those interactions, the person was a bit quiet. But overall, the facility is awesome and full of people that are super smart and ready to help. So, I couldn't be happier with Sylvan Learning Centers. When my daughter went in there, she had a 2.2 and Algebra was sinking her ship. So, I knew that if I could get her help in that, it would bring up the other grades and take the pressure off of her so that she had more time to spend with the other subjects. She has three 4s now. It's expensive, so I'm blessed enough to be able to send her there. But you get what you pay.
There's genuine engagement from Sylvan. The tutor's focus on my daughter has been in Math and English. The main thing right now is she's getting her homework done and overall, her learning has improved. Her confidence is higher and she feels better about herself because she's doing her work and turning it in. I would recommend Sylvan to others. They're attentive and in contact with me as well as with my daughter's teachers. We only started in early January and we've had a really good two-month checkup on how things are going and how can we do certain things differently. We shifted some things and they're listening.
It's going great with Sylvan. We're using it for reading for both of my kids, and it's making a difference. They keep the same schedule which is what I need.
I like Sylvan because I took my grandson and he excels. He’s first of the list now. When my granddaughter went there, they were so nice and treated her good, and she just fell in love with them. So, I said, “I won't let her just take tutoring so she can be learning.” At first, I didn't know they became a certified school, then I decided to let her go to the school. My granddaughter is just in kindergarten, but she loves Sylvan Learning. She got in the car the other day and said “I had the best day ever.” I didn't let her start going till January, but she's learning.
Lee who runs Sylvan in Essex is an incredible individual. She is so engaging with the kids. She's funny and smart. Tommy, my son, has asked several times if Miss Lee could be his teacher in school, and why he can't only go see Miss Lee. We stuck with Sylvan mostly due to her. She's so quick. She was emailing me three times last night. She has never left a single email hanging for more than 24 hours. She does an excellent job. The classroom setting that they have there is lovely. The way they have a store set up for points has kept my son engaged. Sylvan has been extremely helpful. His school is so impressed.
So far, we're happy with Sylvan. My son only had a few classes, but it seems to be helping, and they're very accommodating. He's been to six classes so far now. He goes in there not understanding whatever problem he did that day at school, and he comes home with a better understanding of it once he's taken that class. I met a couple of Sylvan's staff face-to-face and then through text messages. They're always accommodating and quick to reply, and they've been great. I would recommend Sylvan. I think it doesn't hurt to try. If the child is willing, then you have to take advantage of it.
We've improved both skills and confidence with reading in the couple of weeks we've been going to Sylvan. Our daughter loves it. One of her favorite things to do is to go to Sylvan twice a week. I have recommended Sylvan to a few friends for their children who are struggling.
We asked for the homework help from Sylvan. Everything ran smoothly. They explained everything easily. My son says he likes the guy there. It seems the program's been good, but I haven't seen any improvement. All I get are complaints from my son.
